(00:27):
Fox Sports Radio. I hope you guys are well. Hope
you're having an absolutely spectacular, spectacular week. Um Man, there's
some good stuff going on here in the world of sports.
Were broadcasting nine for the Farmer's Insurance. Fox Sports Radio
Studios called eighty farmers to switch and you could say
big on your auto insurance. It's really the best thing

(00:48):
you do from your phone in a few minutes, just
call eighty eight farmers and start saving today. We are farmers.
You know, Rogers, Aaron Rodgers has always been a different
and cat, right, But um the first kind of signs
of trouble up there seemed to be when Mike McCarthy's

(01:09):
last year, when Rogers kind of shut down on his
coach and his coach was fired, and you know, then
they hired a guy he didn't know, and it it
felt weird. So that that's like a year and a
half ago, year and a half ago, and he's been
in the league for a long time. He's always been

(01:29):
quirky and quiet and thoughtful. And but you know, part
of it is the only time we see him are
on you know, commercials, and he's funny in the commercials.
So that's the image of him. That image has changed
over the last year and a half when it feels
like he's a guy who's I'm not terribly happy with

(01:50):
how he's perceived and and some of this is through
no fault to the Packers, Like look what he's going
through his struggles to get back to the super Bowl.
We've seen that tons of times. Dan Marino went once,
didn't win, didn't really get close again. You know, Rogers
gotten a bunch of NFC championship games. He went on

(02:11):
won one, and went and went once and onon once.
That's more normal than what we've seen in the last
ten fifteen years. Peyton went with Peyton go three times, right,
he's two and one. Drew Brees went twice one and one,
um John Elway went four times, he was two and two.

(02:33):
But early in his career and two and embarrassed in
those two games, Montan went six times, Rodgers has only
gone once, and I'm sure and then watching Brady in
the ease by which Brady seemed to get there regards
to the fact that the Ravens and the Steelers both
student his way, and then of course the Chiefs then

(02:55):
became a juggernaut in the in the a f C.
Despite all of that, he still had nine Super appearances
prior to this one, So I'm sure doesn't sit with
you well. But now we're hearing kind of a different
level of unhappiness, one that probably has been around for
a long time. Farve didn't win one until the team

(03:17):
went all in and got Reggie White. And Reggie White
was I don't want to say he was the Aaron
Donald of that era, but he was an absolute monster
and in a remarkably respected football player, the type of
guy who rising shipped, lifted all tides. But that's really
the only guide to that level. Now. They had at

(03:38):
Charles Woodson years ago that seemed to raise their level
of defense. Maybe that's what's behind T. J. Lang, former
offensive lineman of the Packers, saying this one to ticket
talking about Aaron Rodgers and his relationship with the front office.
I think he's going to be hell bent on some revenge. Man.
He was quietly pissed, uh you know when they took

(03:59):
Jordan Lovely year ago. Um. I think he's gonna make
him pay man. I think he's gonna want some sort
of new deal where they guarantee a couple more years
for him as security wise, being in Green Bay. I
don't think he wants to go anywhere. But I think
he's gonna hold their feet to the fire and say, hey,
you're gonna keep me around. Hey, you're gonna pay me
and be You're gonna bring in some players that I

(04:19):
want to play with where we can take this next
next leak. So look, he wants more, he wants more
surrounding players, and I don't think that's unreasonable. I don't.
I think what Aaron Rodgers needs to do is take
on the Tom Brady in New England plan, or even
the Tom Brady Now plan. Here's what we'll do. Let's
rework my numbers, get me in the twenties, you know,

(04:41):
pay me for five years or whatever I'm in. But
you guys got to use that money and be all
in for everybody else. Everyone wants to Everybody says like,
I want to be surrounded by really good players. And
they're like, will you take less money to that? No? No, no,
you think you find the money? Like that's not how
I she works here, like he wants to keep Aaron Jones. Okay,

(05:03):
Aaron Jones gonna to take a little bit less less
money than thinks it's gonna get. And you gotta take
a little bit less money than you're getting. This. There's
nothing different here than labor and management in every profession, right,
Labor always thinks they're not getting paid enough, and they're
they're they're not surrounding them with enough good people. And

(05:24):
we're we're cutting instead of growing. And we got a
chance to really corner the market on things, and we're
screwing around and we're messing up and we're doing all
this stuff. And manage was like, look yeah, look at
the big picture here. We gotta we gotta grow, continue
to grow. I think that this story is it's like
was it is it a Laddin tales old as time

(05:45):
tales A little time labor versus management. Labor always thinks
they're they're getting the shaft, and management always thinks that
labor doesn't understand all things that go into management no
different than anywhere else. You know, That's why management went
so over the top and there trading Aaron Rodgers the

(06:07):
m v P of the league. We're not going anywhere.
But do you have do you want to redo his contract?
Why should we redo his contract? He's under contract when
the right answer is simply, look, we're willing to do
whatever is smart to keep Aaron Rodgers happy, healthy, surrounded
by great pieces and feeling like he's going to be
here for as long as his football career lasts, Like

(06:29):
that's the smart answer. But instead management gets a little
management te Hey, we're still we want a little bit
of credit here. We get no credit. We just get
you know, Pete on because we we got a replacement
just in case he starts. The sucker's attitude go sour.
All that part, all that stuff is smart. Jordan Love,
by the way, is going to join us this hour.
What's that been like to be through? Huh? By? What

(06:52):
do you think I should ask Jordan Love? Should I
just straight up asking do you do you have a
voodoo doll? And to to poke needles into to get
Rogers hurt? Do you think that's wrong? Should I not
ask that? I think, go ahead, I think you should
ask our third string quarterback it's to make it the
super Bowl week and do interviews. That's pretty amazing. That

(07:12):
is pretty amazing. But uh, I mean, I think that
there's a lot just even on the relationship of him
and Rogers throughout the year when he was drafted. You
can ask him all that stuff. Yeah, yep, ye yeah, yeah, yea.
What do you think music? Where should I whe should
I go with it? Well? I definitely think that most
people are probably curious to know what it's been like

(07:35):
to be someone who there has been so much discussion
about who has literally not even set foot on the
field because we didn't even have a preseason, So like,
to have so much discussion and have your name in
the headlines and to be such a talking point for
the media when you haven't even had a chance to

(07:57):
drop back and have a past attempt and even a
preseason game, I think it's like got to be a
really weird mind space to sort of be in. I
completely agree that that's the place I want to get to,
is like, where what is this? What is it like
in your head. And he's an amazing story. Like his
dad was a police officer who suffered from depression. He

(08:19):
succumbed to suicide, suicide, and I think he was Actually
he had just dropped Jordan off at a basket Au
basketball games like fourteen years old. So like the entire
community kind of lifted him up. So there's a lot
to him to where like he has his own backstory,
he has his own adversity he's been through, and none
of this kind of measures up to it at all. Right,

(08:40):
Like you know, when I play and when I play
has nothing to do with it, nothing comparison to my
life story. Um, so that part is really interesting. And
all of it, Oh I'm sorry, go ahead, I was
gonna say that all of it really to nothing that
he has done, right, you know, because he was the
one that you know, the Packers that were the one
to dry after him, they were the one to deal

(09:01):
with the Rogers stuff. He just showed out to start
an NFL career. It was nothing that he has done
to put him in this situation. Yes, through no, it's
all through no no fault of his own literally it
is through no fault of his own so he'll join
us this hour, we'll get to Jordan's love. But I
don't like we we make it out like this is
the this is the only place this takes place. You know,

(09:24):
Drew Brees after they won the Super Bowl, they had
bounty Gate. I mean, you don't think he was frustrated
over the defense being coming for all those years. Romo
same thing. He was frustrated of the defense being bad
for all those all those years. You don't think that
Russell Wilson sits there and goes like, man, if I
get an offensive line, and if we would stop wasting
first round draft picks on running backs, and if we would,
you know, if we would figure out how to how

(09:46):
to make our defense better, if I could have a
better place, like all these things, All these guys are
the same. The difference is that Rogers has led us
in on it by letting his feelings be known. But
this labor versus management is is this is no new story.
Discover matches all the cash back you earned at the
end of your first year. It's like they're cramming a
full year worth of cash back into one of those

(10:07):
cash shaped birthday cards. Cash Back match only by Discover
card and the more discover dot com slash match Discover
something brighter. Being a quarterback speaking of Aaron Rodgers is different.
I actually think it's kind of like being president. I'll
explain how it relates to Jared Goff that I come
in next. But first you walk into your favorite store.
Go the razors section. It hits you so many options.

(10:30):
How do you choose eight blade, ten blade, fifty blade razors?
That requires two hands and and and the plug in? Right?
Dollar Shave Club which now is at a store near you.
They got you, all right, they got you covered. They
have a premium six blade cartriders designed for daily shavers
with short hair. I use that today, or the four

(10:52):
blade cartridge for less frequent shavers longer face year. I
use that yesterday. The blades are spaced out more for
easy rinsing, because more aids isn't always better. Right, you're
you're still confused. I can see by look in your face.
I told you Dollar Shaved Clubs got you, and they do.
D s C has both cartridges in a new starter
box so you can test driving both. You might even

(11:12):
like both. I shave um sometimes infrequently, sometimes frequently, So
again yesterday, for for you know, four blade and today
I'll use a six blade, you know, and sometimes I'll
use that fifty blade on my back. No fifty, but
I'm kidding. For more information, visit Dollar Shaved Club dot
Com slash Doug Again, it's Dollar Shave Club dot Com

(11:33):
nearest store. You've got questions, we got answers. Welcome to
the club. Be sure to catch the live edition of
The Doug gott Leap Show weekdays at three p m.
Easter noon Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the I
Heart Radio. Ah app Let's begin with this, um I.
I talked to Cam Akers earlier in the show. The

(11:54):
Doug Otlip Show is live from the Farmers Insurance Fox
Sports Radio studios called eight to eight Farmers and Switch.
You can save a bundle on auto insurance. This is
cam akers last hour when I asked him about Aaron
Donald his consistency. You know, obviously you see the results,
you see, uh what happened on Sundays, but man, what
he does throughout the weekend in the off season and

(12:15):
just to prepare for for the big shows, you know,
every Sunday on Monday. Uh, you don't see you don't
see it often. You don't see people not say players
off in practice literally. Um so, so he says, you know,
here's a guy who's the best player in football and
he's the best practice player on their team. You don't

(12:38):
see him take a playoff. And I think it's interesting
we try and figure out where did all go wrong
for Jared Goff. And you know what happens is when
I tweet out there what I have been told from
various sources around the Rams, They're like, oh, the Rams
are killing him now, Like I don't think people understand.

(12:59):
And I've heard I know there's a time in which
if I would put that out about a quarterback who's
a black quarterback, like oh, you're just killing them, Like, no,
this is this is the job. They don't just get
paid more money because they touched the ball every snap.
They get paid more money because everything matters. They walk,

(13:22):
how they talk, what they wear, what they say at
press conferences. You speak for everybody, you know. And and
Cam Newton was kind of he was right when when
he came in the league, he said, you know, you know,
there's never been a guy like me. You know what
He's right, He's right. There has never been a guy
like Cam Newton ever, ever, ever, And I think it's

(13:45):
fasting because there was never a quarterback who was willing
to be that risky with just the clothes he wore
and the style by which that be. Normally, that guy
is supposed to be like a CEO. You gotta almost
be lame. You better off being Matt Ryan and speaking
in platitudes like Russell Wilson than you are being real.
That's the thing about Aaron Rodgers and and some of

(14:06):
the things that he said in the ways they've said,
like that's you're speaking for everybody. You're speaking to the
people that matter. How you practice, how you play, you're
already making more money. The rules of the game are
already there to help you succeed. You know, you're drafted
above where you should be drafted because of the position

(14:28):
that you play. You're the one that gets the interviews,
you're the one that gets the side deals, You're the
one that gets attention. But with it comes something else.
That what's what makes evaluating the position so hard, because
it's not just about what you're going to do, it's
about how you're going to act and react to adversity,

(14:48):
how you're gonna handle coaching changes, how you're gonna handle
yourself in the media with teammates, Like, all of these
things matter. I think back, you know, when things go
bad at I mean that that was one of the
things that was told to me about Jerikoff, was like,
it wasn't that he was a blamer. It's his fault.
It's his fault. It's his fault. No not, But when

(15:08):
we would lose, it was never team meeting. Hey, fellas,
that's on me. Nothing, It's on me. I gotta be better,
never once. And it's it's a little bit like you know,
it's it's it's like the presidency. It's like the presidency.
What what our former president was able to get away

(15:31):
within the private sector is completely different than when you're
representing all of us. How do we want to be represented?
You know, it's not it's not as much about the
politics is as you think some of it is. But
it's a lot of how you handle it's your bedside banner.
It's the same thing with quarterback. All these guys can throw. Obviously,

(15:53):
some have better arms, some have better legs, some have
better brains. But how you handle all that stuff, the
social jiu jitsu, that to me is incredibly important and
I think it's it's important in the league. Be sure
to catch the live edition of The Doug Gottlieb Show
weekdays at three p m. Easter noon Pacific Doug Gottlieb

(16:14):
Show here on Fox Sports Radio. Uh. Let's let's welcome
in the most known backup quarterback in the National Football League.
He's the quarterback eventually for the Packers. Jordan Love joined
us on behalf of Panini Trading Cards. George takes so much,
uh for for taking time. You continue to be one

(16:35):
of the two or three most discussed draft picks in
last year's NFL draft. UM throughout the season, Like you're
a man of mystery. What what's this all been like
for you? Yeah, I mean it's pretty crazy. You know,
obviously very talked about, UM, but it's weird, you know,
didn't play, but very talked about. So for me, it's

(16:56):
just just trying to keep my head out of that
stuff because it's everywhere. Okay, let's let's go back though
to your your personal story, like right, Like, I mean,
it was kind of amazing personal rise considering everything that
went on back home. With your with your dad and
and and like the community kind of help help raise you.

(17:19):
What was that like to go through all of that,
go through the ups and downs and changes at Utah State?
What personally was that like for you? Emotionally? Um? Yeah,
I mean I've had obviously a lot of adversity in
my life. UM, and I think that stuff kind of
just holds you into who you are as a person. UM,
gave me a lot just I'll be able to handle adversity. UM.

(17:44):
Kind of that mindset, like it is what it is,
control what I can control, Um, trying to be a
good person. So you so the Packers draft you, Um,
what were what was your first and again it was
weird because there's no O, T A S. It's out
the usual stuff. What were your first interactions with the team?
Like Zoom? That was my first interactions, you know, going

(18:08):
through uh pretty much a virtual offseason, off season with
ots and all that stuff. Um, just sitting on team
meetings on Zoom. It was kind of weird. You don't
get a obviously know everyone's kind of muted. I'm not
saying anything. It's kind of the head coaches talking. But uh,
finally we finally got to Green Bay kind of kind
of sat in with me that you know, it's real

(18:30):
finally here in the NFL. Um, Okay, not just here NFL,
but a Green Bay Packer. And as much as there's
a lot of other stuff like in my lifetime, they
basically you know, since they were terrible when I was
a little kid, but then it was far to Rogers
like Hall of Famer to Hall of Famer and you know,
at some point the secession plan succession plan is for

(18:51):
you was like to go, it's one thing to be
drafted by a team. It's something to be a thing
to be drafted by the Packers. What's it's Uh, it's
one of those things when you get there you kind
of feel all the history that you know with his
franchise and uh, just walking around the facility, you know,
seeing the the trophies and the facility, it's awesome. Seat um,
and it's it's definitely one of the most historic franchises around.

(19:14):
So it's that's awesome part of that. What was Aaron
like to you? Um, you know Aaron, and he's a
he's a good dude, and he's really good dude. Um.
I've learned a lot from just So he's really smart.
That's one way to put it. Kind of every I
think everybody knows he's smart. But like, for like when

(19:34):
you say he's really smart, like what what? What's it meaning?
Just in his ability to perceive things and see things? Um? What? What? What?
What about his intelligence? Um? Impresses you? Um? I say
his memory? Who has a who has almost a photographic memory?
It's pretty crazy. Um, you know, remembers things from the past,
seasons and whatnot. And it's like in the blinking I

(19:55):
just can think of stuff. So that's one of those things.
You've got to be in the room with him to
see it. It's hard to sit here and explain it.
But us all I can say, um, okay, for you,
in terms of your development, what's the thing that you
feel like has developed the most during this year? Um?
I mean, I just say my ability to understand the
offense and I understand what we're trying to do schmetically.

(20:19):
That was my big goal coming season, is just trying
to learn as much as I can, and I mean
that's what I did. So definitely more comfortable in no offense.
How hard is it to sit and watch? It's very hard.
I mean obviously, Um, from an NFL. We're all competitors
in NFL. That's where we're here. Um, that's what you're
trying to do is be out down the field. So
it's hard, but also it's also really good to be

(20:43):
able to sit back and and see how it is
before you get thrown out there. People have have related
your skill set to my homes right there, Like if
there's a Mahomes type of thing, do you I mean,
obviously it's a it's a that's a good thing. But
is there an amount of pressure to like, Okay, I
gotta when I get my limited reps of practice, I

(21:04):
gotta I gotta show off. Like what what is that
like to kind of carry the burden of having so
much talent and potential? Yeah, I mean I think that's
something that you know, other people can didn't compare to.
Um me, you know, just trying to be the best
version of myself. Um, I'm not sitting there I practice
trying to be like yeah, just like my homes or anything. Um,

(21:25):
I'm trying to go out there and do what I do.
M Yeah, Um, you obviously you know you get there.
It's not just watching Aaron what he does Davante is
pretty amazing, pretty amazing, But he kind of has a
weird way of running, right, Like some dudes are fast
and they look fast. He's fast and kind of has

(21:46):
it doesn't look as like he gets open. It's it's unbelievable.
What is it when you watch and you work with him?
What is it about Davante Adams that allows us to
be so elite? Um? I mean I just think he's
very small. Um. You know obviously see his footwork and
the way he can be people off the line. But uh,
you know he can you can turn that speed on

(22:07):
and an heartbeat and get past you. Um. I mean
he's he works on this stuff. You see every day
at practice that Uh he's out there working on his footwork,
working on his releases. Um. And then it just goes
to show when he gets out there on the field
when you what was would you would you pick up
when you watch Brady? We could go Sunday, Um the

(22:29):
do finds a way to win? Um. Obviously, look, I
mean three interceptions and um still was able to push
through that and find a way to win at the end. Um.
I think that's just testament his career. UM. The winner
what is that feeling like being so close to the
super Bowl and you know you guys are It was

(22:51):
just it was such a great season and then you
get so close and you can't complete the test. But
what is that emotion? Like? Uh ms? I mean, it's
the only way you can look at it. How is
our mindset going into the playoffs? Is we're making it
to the super Bowl? Um, He's got to take each
week at a time and we're gonna make it there.
It's tough, you know. I was sim simback thinking like

(23:13):
I didn't even play one snap this whole season, and
it was it was hard for me. I was just
sitting there at the game thinking like what could have
we ever done? Um? I can only imagine what it's
like for the other guys. But stuff know that that
shows like me or that's a great teammate right to
where you that you're all in on on being a
great teammate and and I'm learning in the process. Okay,

(23:33):
So over the last week and a half, you know,
Aaron said what he said, then the team came out
and said he's gonna he's he's our quarterback. He's here
for me here a long time. What are the emotions,
Like for you, when you hear that, I hear what
when you hear gun and Kunst and uh and and

(23:53):
others come out and say like, Aaron's not going anywhere,
He's gonna be here for a long time. Um. Yeah,
I mean that's kinda kind of what their plan is.
I mean, I'm I'm here to develop and uh I'll
be the one to take over when when he's out
of here. So um, I think that's kind of their
plan all along. But yeah, I mean, obviously, like you said,

(24:15):
everybody wants to play, but for me, it's just just
driving force to try and get better anyway I can. Okay,
you you watched that game, and one of the things
up to without black Box the r and their D
line is nasty. Okay, the Chiefs, you're not going to
have either. Their book and tackles Mahomes is great, and
their talent is unbelievable, and their screen game is really nice.

(24:36):
But how hard do you think it's going to be
for him considering how good that pass rushes for Tampa? Yeah,
I mean, like you said, they got a really good
D line. Um, and then their linebackers. I think that's
the part of their team. They fly around and make play.
So I think if it's all about how the Bucks
defense plays them, if they're trying to get pressure on them, um,
you know, I think they'll find a way to get home.
But I mean they've played before, so they'll see what

(24:59):
their game plan is on this week. You, as we
started with, you've been through a lot, write, a lot,
personally a ton of adversity. What does it mean to
have that Panini card? Right, to have your Panini first
round draft pick rookie card. What's that mean to you?
It's dope and it's awesome, you know, seeing seeing your
picture in your face on a on a card and

(25:19):
being able to sign that and know that someone someone
who wants that. It's uh, it's lowessive feeling. There there
are there are thousands of kids who dream of being you,
and and I'm sure there are moments which they go
through their own personal adversity. How do you, how have
you fought through? How have you been through? What you've
been through? Gotten and still even today like you're still

(25:41):
like hey man, I want I mean like your competitor,
you won't play. How do you What would your advice
be for younger kids high school kids developing to push
through their own personal adversity. Oh yeah, I mean, uh,
I say, you know it's gonna be hard days. You's
gotta find a way to to make it through, and
UH tell you see a better day. So, like I say,

(26:01):
I try to focus on control what I control and
know and that you know it's gonna it's always gonna
be adversity and things are gonna go wrong. Sometimes nothing
in life is perfect. Um, you know, you just got
to try and I find the most out of it
and uh, you know, make the best of your opportunity.
Are you used to the weather in Green Bay yet? Yeah?
I'm used to it. Uh living in Utah for a

(26:22):
couple or four years, you know, I was able to
get but uh in Green Bays that wind and yeah,
that wind comes out the lake and it's a it's
a it's a it's a different animal. It is different
for sure. Hey, Uh, I can't wait to see on
everybody can't wait to see you on the field next year.
Good luck in the off season, and thanks so much
for joining us. Thank you all right. That's Jordan's love

(26:43):
joining us from the Green Bay Packers. His personal story
is that who tough one and you do kind of
forget about the person when you look at the player.
But can you imagine being that guy, you know, the
guy who everyone openly said, openly has said, uh, what

(27:05):
are you doing here? We're done? You know it's like, well,
it's not about you, it's about yeah, we don't like, yeah,
we don't need you, you know, so I don't crazy.
Uh anyway, what do you think there music? When you
listened to Jordan's love? I guess that the first time
we've had a conversation with him, and always a tough

(27:28):
spot to be talking about, you know, it doesn't hasn't
been held play. I love the fact that he was like, man,
I didn't even play, and here I am dying and
losing that that NFC championship game. Yeah no, I think yeah,
as we had kind of mentioned before we had him on, like,
I think he very much feels that sort of awkwardness
that comes with like, you know, as Dan had mentioned, like, look,

(27:50):
I didn't do anything. The Packers drafted me. It's my
dream to play in the NFL. I'm just here. I
haven't taken a single snap. I've never played in a
preseason game, and every time I turn on the TV.
It's like people make it out like the quarterback hates me,
But then when I talked to Aaron, he's like a
really nice, cool guy trying to help me learn how
to play at the NFL level. Like, I don't know
what you guys want from me right now. Yeah, it's

(28:12):
it's it's amazing. Bye, what do you think I mean,
That's just that's gonna be. That's gonna be an interesting existence. Yeah.
I loved it of of the in to your point
of him being excited. It's one of the great things
about about bench mobs. You know, in college basketball, it's
awesome when guys love their team so much when they
aren't playing in games. And here's a guy who is

(28:35):
a first round pick who kind of you know, in
football you really don't have bench mobs. But he's still
feeling that sort of uh, that that angst in his
show living and dying with the team. I think it's
a really good sign and a really good sign of
of where he is. Still don't know what's going to happen,
you know, with his NFL future, but to to at
least be that guy is still hurt over a game

(28:56):
that you're never going to play in I think tells
you something. No, I mean, it tells you about the
makeup of the guy. It tells you about the unity
of the team. And you know, I it's interesting I
talked to I have a friend who was on the
Cubs when they won the World Series, and he's also
been on other teams that made the playoffs, and he's like,
I had more fun on teams and I was. I

(29:17):
felt more a part of teams that lost in the playoffs,
even though we lost because I played, and I had
a hard time, had a hard time when we won
with the Cubs. But it wasn't because it wasn't just
because I didn't play. It was also because the makeup
of the guys. So you know, there are guys who win,
you know, NBA rings in our Well, I didn't really play,

(29:39):
so it doesn't mean as as much. I can understand it,
you know, and also too, if you've been in the
league for a while, there's a different feel. But for
him to not take on the role of you know,
first realnd pick I should be playing sort of thing,
and to have that angst, I think it's a good sign.
Let's let's do this. Uh, well, let's Let's let's dance,
Let's let Dan prepare and get to the press. It's

(29:59):
the Doug Outlets Alive for the Farmers Insurance. Fox Sports
Radio Studios called A to D eight Farmers and you
can save a whole lot of something on auto insurance.
One college basketball team might be ready to throw in
the towel on the season. Tell you who and why next.

(30:21):
search f s R to listen live the press fire
damn buy what he got, Doug. We've got tons to
get to. We'll start with Super Bowl fifty five. We
know in the NFL that all seven of the head
coaching vacancies have been filled. In Eric b enemy to
not receive one of those head coaching jobs. He'll remain

(30:41):
with the Chiefs as their offensive coordinator and talked about
him not getting a job earlier today. One thing that
you gotta understand. You know, I'm a focus on who
what I need to focus on. Then it's time to
turn the page. So at the end of the day,
I wanted to make sure that our guys are ready. Okay,
they mentally prepared, They've watched all film that they need
to watch. On top of that, all right, they've gone

(31:03):
out there. They physically put themselves in the right positions
by working their tails off and applying everything that we've
asked them to do to make sure that they're ready
to play. That's how you get past that. You move
on by making sure that we're focus on the goal,
and the goal has always been to win the Super Bowl.

(31:23):
I gotta coordinator says he's not gonna dwell on any
of the pity of not getting a job and focus
on what's ahead. I mean he can. I mean, it's
it's it's hard to get jobs. And there isn't a
rhyme or reason to how some guys get jobs and
some guys do not. Um, but I mean it's a
lot like taking recruits. It's like you can't worry about

(31:45):
the guys you didn't get. You got guys on your campus.
You know that to his life, he's still making you know,
probably seven million dollars a year. He still has the
coordinator for the best offense in football. When the game
had to super old rings play the game again, look
at a job yeah, elsewhere in the National Football League

(32:06):
stinking though. With Super Bowl fifty five, we found out
why Chiefs backup center Daniel Kilgore and wide receiver to
Marcus Robinson were placed on the reserve COVID list. They
didn't test positive. They came in close contact with a
barber who tested positive for COVID nineteen. That's according to
Ian Rappaport of the NFL Network. Like you cut, g um,

(32:28):
I think that's funny or interesting. The barber head COVID.
Come on, man, Like, if you're a barber, you gotta
you gotta get yourself tested. You gotta do. And there
were all the guys that were waiting in line that
never sat next to not never got their haircut. Did
you know that? Yes, there's other other players like they
were gonna get their haircut from him, and they did not,
and so they're not on the on the list. I

(32:50):
still go back to the shot on Twitter that may
have been a meme where the early on in the pandemic,
it was the umbrella with the eye holes cut out
of it, so somebody was trying to cut It's kind
of a joke, very funny. Anyway, moving on the NFL Networks.
Matt Ryan and Julio Jones are expected to remain with
the team. In one is the Falcons have a new

(33:10):
head coach in Arthur Smith. I don't expect Matt Ryan
to go anywhere. Yeah, okay, that that that makes that
makes a lot of sense, right, don't say getting Matt
Ryan to go anywhere? Right, Look, he has too much
deadcat money anyway. They really can't trade him, and so
you you're ride it out with your older guys. That
doesn't mean they won't draft a quarterback and think about

(33:31):
moving him. The interesting one there would be San Francisco.
San Francisco struck out everywhere else would there be a
way because Matt Ryan had his best success playing for
Kyle Shanahan. College Football News and it's the big news
for a lot of us out there. E A Sports
announcing they're bringing back the college football video game. Not
gonna be released for two to three years. Latest version

(33:53):
of the game was released in the summer of The
untold story of it is the college basketball game did
not make money, just didn't make money. The college ball
game made some money, but not gobs of it. That's it.
That's the only real reason that it was. I think
there's a way to work it where everybody's happy. My
guests would be, you take a percentage of the profits

(34:14):
and you put it in a fund for UH for
student athletes once they finish, and if they're you know,
they can sign up for a pool in their name,
image and likeness they want to use it post graduation
like their professional player. There's also the other part about
this which is interesting now as opposed to years ago,
you can actually find out which players and teams people

(34:37):
actually want to play and be and and those so
that you could have it where guys only get money
if they're picking their that guy as a player. You know. Um,
My guests would be though that they'll find a way
to take some portion of the profits, put it in
a pool, put in a fund, and that will be
distributed to guys that are on the game. It will

(34:58):
it will be stunning least a stunningly small amount of money.
In a related story and trying to clean up to
make a nursery, I found my PS three n C double,
a fourteen game, the one that was the last one released.
I don't have the case for it, but I found
the disk and I'll tell you what Doug, you go

(35:19):
on eBay and it's a hot item, you could sell
it for more than what you bought it new for
uh eight or nine years ago. So I am taking
offers if anybody wants to know. Alright. College basketball news
the Albuquerque General says the hoops series this week between
New Mexico and San Diego State that was gonna be
played in Lubbock, Texas has been called off, with the

(35:41):
report adding that some Lobo players could be opting out
of the season New Mexico five and eleven and the
season could be in jeopardy. Well, they they've they've had
the weirdest. They were in Lubbick for a month, then
they were in a Dixie state in Utah for like
three weeks. Now they're back in New Mexico State. Their

(36:01):
seasons going off without a hitch Christian's crew. They're they're
playing with their women's team and I think volleyball team
at high school gym in El Paso, uh and Los
Cruses near El Paso. But whatever, um So, part of
it is New Mexico is bad. I mean they're bad,
but part of it is how could you be good
with with with this as a setup it's it's crazy.

(36:24):
Of the things that are interesting, one, I was at
first asked to do that game tomorrow in Lubbock. Thank
god I had not booked my travel to um My
brother interviewed to be on the New Mexico staff this year,
and uh, yeah, he's instead of Grand Canaan. So interesting

(36:45):
how he chosen to be on that staff. What what
would have happened? Like traveling back and forth. You get
a lot of per diem though, you got that going
for you the NBA, and yeah, I got one more
thing if you want the NBA. Good In Players Association
are working towards holding an NBA All Star Game in
Atlanta on Sunday, March seventh. Why there's gotta be there's

(37:05):
gotta be money in. But it's gotta be their sponsors
and money. Yes, does anybody say there goes like, man,
can we get an All Star game or something here?
Like I'm Jones in for an All Star Game? Like, yeah,
I don't. I don't think there's a real great They
said there'll be a skills competition as well. I don't
think there'll be a dunk competition, but the skills competition
and some of the bigger names played in the skills competition.

(37:28):
So what other note I do want to pass along
being the Gulf fan that I am big News and
golf today is the U S g A and the
R and A took their biggest steps towards bifurcation in
the sport proposing changes to equipment standards that includes the
ball and the club. So, Doug, these just a proposal,
but it's the first step that we could get where

(37:51):
possibly the tour players, to put in Layman's term terms,
would be playing under different rules than you and I would.
So you and I could benefit from the great technology
technological advances where the professional players, depending on where they
play in certain tournaments, may not be allowed those advantages.

(38:13):
It's nice to say that you play under one umbrella,
but realistically the game you and I play is not
even relatively close to the game that the pros play.
They might as well be two different sports. So it's
it's reasonable. Um. It is interesting though that we think
it's the same thing, right, You always pick up a
tip from a pro, watching it on TV makes you

(38:34):
want to want to perform like that, and you're never
gonna be as good as those guys. Kind of reminds
you of like adult films, right, can similar in that way.
I'm just just throwing that out there out there. Terry
Bradshaw tomorrow, Aaron Donald tomorrow. Oh, Aaron Dowal tomorrow. That'll
that'll be that'll be good. All right. More from Super Week.
