(01:33):
there's there. There was a trade venture if you're ware
like I was on a I was traveling this weekend
just to a do a game. And when I was
coming back, this is Friday, what it was yesterday? Yesterday?
I was I was at a kid's basketball game and
(01:55):
I heard somebody said, I have a huge sports very
huge huge. What do you think of the golf trade
with Jared Golf was traded? Yeah, Jared Golf was traded
to the Detroit Lions. Couple first round picks and they
get back Matt Stafford returned kind of interesting. And you
know I've heard the I've heard the who won the trade?
(02:18):
Do you ever you like the who won the trade?
Do you know what Ramos might know this? M I
think buyer knows as well. Do you guys know what today?
Is it? What? Trade? Today is the anniversary of anyone?
I think I saw this, but it's not. I do
not know off top of my head. Let me, yeah,
I don't. What what about you there? Uh buyer? Do
(02:41):
you know? Uh? Do you know the top of my head? Okay?
Today is the trade anniversary of the Memphis Grizzlies trading
Pau Gasol to the Lakers, right, And what everybody remembers
is pau Gasol went in the trade and qualm A.
(03:04):
Brown came back to the Memphis Grizzlies. So immediately you're like, man,
Memphis just got housed in that trade. Do you remember
that trade? So the Lakers traded for Pau Gasol on
this very day, right, thirteen years ago today, they traded
(03:25):
Kwamie Brown, Jabars Crittenden, who's in jail for murder, ran Uh,
Aaron McKee, two first future draft first round draft picks,
and Mark Gasol. So here, here's here's the fascinating thing, right,
is we all look at pau Gasol got to the Lakers.
He was seen as soft, and he's one of Kobe's
(03:47):
favorite all time teammates. He ends up winning two NBA titles,
and so immediately the assumption is the Lakers won the trade.
But did they? Okay, now that I told you the
trade buyer? Who won the trade? Well, I still think
that the Lakers because because they want a title? Yes, okay,
(04:12):
who do you think wan the trade? Their music gonna
go with the l a Lakers because they not only
won one championship, but they want to They did, they did.
Is it fair to say though that Marcus al he
comes over and he gives, Oh no, it's probably like
eight great eight really good years, four or five good years,
(04:35):
you know, and like I know, ten years to the
Memphis Grizzlies. That that's not a good return plus two
first round trafficks. The point is that while I probably
agree with you pau Gasol winning two titles, the Lakers
made the right move. The Lakers win two NBA championships.
The difference is fair is a lot more slight than
you would think once you realize all of what Memphis
(04:58):
got returns that a fair It's I'm just look, it's
a trade. It's a trade. It's like it's like when
I was a kid, my mom would buy chips ahoy,
But I liked Oreos, and you finally like, well, I
got four chips a while you've got three Oreos. What
do you think? And you get somebody trade like ha,
Now it's similar because I liked orioles. I think oreos
are a better cookie, but it's not like chips ahoy
(05:20):
or a bad cookie. And when you get the volume
of four to three, it's a trade. So I do
think that for the Lions, do you get a starting quarterback?
The GM was the guy responsible for drafting him, like
he's the director of college scouting for the Rams before
he got the Lions job. So there's familiarity. There, a
(05:40):
rabbi in the room. And they got two first treacher
first round draft picks and they can cut golf at
the end of this year and then start all over,
which is great. Got a reputable quarterback who the GM
at least believes in, and you see what you got
for a year, and you play the long game. That's
what Memphis played. Memphis played the long game. Go back
(06:04):
and look at at the Memphis Grizzlies when you know
predating that trade, and you start to understand exactly why
they did what they did right when they traded Pau Gasol.
They were twenty four and fifty eight, and it wasn't
simply getting Marcosol. But they then they won forty games,
then they won forty six games, and they won fifties
(06:27):
six games. Right, Memphis got better over a long period time,
and they weren't going anywhere with Marcusol, and the the
Detroit Lions weren't going anywhere with Matt Stafford. So I
do think there's some parallels to that trade thirteen years
ago in basketball, to the trade over the weekend it felt.
But here's I think the bigger question is. And I
(06:47):
was asking myself this I called Middlecoff up. Of course
John Middlekoff three Now podcast joins us every Friday on
The Doug Otlip Show, and I was like, bro, have
you ever seen this before? Like what happened? Jared Goff
was in a super Bowl couple years ago? He got
a big contract. You know, he he ended up particularly
good year. But Cooper Cup got hurt. You know, they're
(07:08):
not the same team. They do have a better running game.
Like I don't love him, but man to publicly kind
of shame him and say he's our quarterback for now
and make him make it out there if he stayed,
he was going to compete for the starting job. Like,
what are they doing? So I poked around. I asked
(07:29):
some people I do know plenty of people inside the
NFL and some people with and formally with the Rams,
And you know what they told me. When you get
a hundred million dollar plus contract, when you're the franchise
piece as a starting quarterback, the number one overall pick,
there are heightened expectations. And then you play for a
(07:50):
John Gruden disciple, he has heightened expectations of his quarterback.
And so it's one thing to just be okay. It's
another thing when you're working for a fanatic who is
a workaholic and you're not when he believes that he's
drawing up plays that should be explosive and you're not
willing to take those chances. I mean, look, when John
(08:14):
Wolfer got the job because he broke his thumb. Aaron Donald,
who's the best player maybe in football, came out and said, man,
I've been watching this guy work and I can't wait.
I'm I'm excited. Like players, you can't fool players. This
wasn't just done to please the head coach. Sean McVeigh
(08:34):
that was part of it. But it's also because the
players want somebody who's all in, like we're in all
in organization, we're a pent in both feet in the
circle or or what's what's the point? And Golf did
not give off that vibe to his teammates, to the
front office, to his coaching staff. It wasn't that he
didn't work. He just didn't do the extra stuff. Wasn't
(08:55):
that he wasn't one of the first guys in the building.
He just wasn't first. Wasn't he wasn't the last guy
out of the building. It wasn't that it was the
last guy. It was that he just, you know, did
the job, did a good job. Same thing is starting quarterback.
Everything he did, everything he was was good enough, but
(09:16):
not the desire to be the best. Not indefatigable. And
that includes lack of accountability. You know, when when the
Rams lose, you can mark your calendar to it. When
the Rams lose, it's Sean McVeigh saying it's my fault.
When the Rams win, it's Sean McVeigh saying it's the
player's fault. Players. The reason we won, the coach is
(09:38):
the reason they lost. There was one time in which
he said, our quarterback needs to play better against San Francisco.
But that's Sean mcveigh's desire and ability to be accountable.
But he didn't have a quarterback who had who shared
that with him. And then you factor in the last part,
which is the coach didn't draft the quarterback, he didn't
(09:58):
watch film of him, He wasn't the head coach went
Jeff Fisher drafted him and said, this is my guy.
All those things allow little things become big things. Not
my guy. Not an exceptionally hard worker, not seeing his
incredibly tough, won't take the extra steps to make himself great,
and won't take the shots down field when we dial
(10:19):
them up for him and we're just ready to move on.
Can't fool the players they knew, can't ful the coaches
they definitely knew, and the league had a sense of
what exactly was going on. And then you get a
guy who they feel like was underutilized based upon some
(10:39):
of the coaching staffs that he'd been with and some
of the personnel that he played with as well. That's
where the rams are coming from. So it probably ends
up being a fair trade. You get extra first round
picks no matter where they are in the twenties. The
Lions first round pick next year is probably gonna be
in the top five, right, I don't know of The
(11:00):
Bears still have a great defense, They still figure out
a way to win win enough football games. The Vikings
are still pretty amn good. They had reworked their defense
this year because the salary cap and the packers of
the packers, they're not gonna win very many games. I'm
talking about the h the Lions. And then you add
in the first round pick of the Rams going back
to going to next year, and now you have the
chance to package to move up to get the number
(11:22):
one overall pick if you'd identify a quarterback. Discover matches
all the cash back you've earned at the end of
your first year. It's like cramming a full year's worth
of cash into one of those cash shaped birthday cards.
Cash back match only by Discover Card a little more,
Discover dot Com, slash match, Discover something brighter. I do
want to say one additional thing. One additional thing. Um,
(11:45):
it's really important to point out that a couple of things.
One everything I've told you is from people I really
trust within the NFL that know the rams intricately. Secondly,
this is the nature of the position. The nature of
the position. So whether it's to Ah or Lamar or
(12:08):
Sean or Jared Goff or Jimmy Garoppolo or Baker Mayfield.
I have heard people in the media say we pick
on certain guys, and the truth is we just just
exceptionally harsh about quarterbacks because they get the benefit of
rules to help them, they get the benefit of offenses
(12:30):
to help them. And oh yeah, by the way, they
make the most money. And to who much is given,
more is expected. How much longer will two of be?
The quarterback of the Dolphins? See it's getting warm, he
knows it. We'll talk about it next. Be sure to

Otla Show Live and the Farmer's Insurance Fox Sports Radio
Studio is called a tod eight Farmers to switch and
you can save a bundle on your auto insurance. I
heard two a tongue of Iolo was on Serious x M.
He's talking about his first season in Miami take a listen.
In my heart, I'd like to hope so. But you know,
for me, with the way things went last year, you
know you you always got to come out wanting to
(13:13):
prove yourself to be better and to um, you know,
want to do better. Yeah, I think there's a there's
a reasonable nature to to a tongue of iolo. Right,
there's he's he's reasonable with how he understands he didn't
play well enough and he has to improve. Um. I
(13:35):
think the guy has he checks every intangible box. There
is a right smart, he's accountable. It's kind of one
of the things we talked about with Jared Goff right,
like golf wasn't accountable. Two is two, Ha said, like,
I gotta be bad, I gotta be better smart. He's accountable.
He understands the workload that it takes. But at some
(13:57):
point in time there is a jibles and you know
you may sit there and go like, well, how's he
any different from Baker Mayfield. They're proughitbly the same size.
Baker's just one either got a better arm or is
unleashing his ore, unquirking his arm. More just didn't push
the ball down the field. And we can make the
(14:18):
excuses of personnel, and we can say they didn't have
the right play color, but at some point in time,
you gotta you gotta show us there just wasn't wild
plays and to a knows it because we all know
what anybody who watched, anybody's reasonable. That's that's what we
get to in this business. We get to and I
really like too. I don't want to rip them. I
like him too, but he wasn't good another when he
when we're tanking over and that's what Miami did for him.
(14:39):
Be sure to catch the live edition of The Doug
gott Leap Show weekdays at three p m. Easter noon Pacific.
It is the Doug Gotla Show on Fox Sports Radio.
Let's get the pro bowler and Steelers wide receiver Juju
Smith Schuster. He joins us on behalf of Oi ghos Uh. Juju,
thanks so much for taking time. How would how would
you assess your season? I mean I think I did,
(15:01):
you know pretty well, um as far as like converting
on dirt down, as far as making place for my
team when it must be needed, um uh, you know,
catching the ball getting vertical. I think I did a
pretty good job when they call all my name. I
was there to answer Judy, what's it like to play
knowing that free agency is looming? Um, yeah, of course,
(15:24):
you know, I think at times, you know where I've
been hurt all season and you know I was gonna
miss a couple of games here and there, but you know,
just suck it up and you know, came back from
you know, my injuries and just paid throughout the game.
You know, even the last game of the season. Uh,
we knew the outcome of that was was that we
were gonna lose, um towards the end of the towards
any of the game. And you know, I told myself
(15:45):
that I'm not gonna quit. I'm not gonna give up.
You know, I'm gonna keep fighting until the last was blown.
And you just never know. Okay, take me back your
pregame dancing. When did that start? Uh doing? The whole time?
But um, I think the first uh TikTok dance I
did on the field was I guess the Cowboys. Was
(16:07):
there a moment when anyone on the team or said
anything in terms of negatives because because like my my
son falls you on TikTok, he loves it. No, no, no, no, no.
I mean like they were just like, hey, you really
danced on the logo and I was like yeah, and um,
they was just like you thought it was funny, it
was cool, and then I just started doing it as
(16:29):
a trend and kind of like just carrying on over
and over. What about other teams? Were those guys on
their phones before games like, yo, yo, what's what's up
with this? Uh? No, nobody said it to me. I
was on the field to that. They were actually like
by the star and nobody said me to me. I
kind of like moved over and I just did my
dants and then that was it. You just miss Schuster,
(16:51):
our guest here on the Doug Gotlip Show Fox Sports Radio.
You guys start eleven and out last undefeated team top
of the world. Then what happened? Man? Honestly, I would say,
you know, we had a couple of injuries that hurt
us in the long run, UM, and then just on
the office side, just not executing UM. I think that
(17:12):
you know a lot of times that you know, we
we were so consistent within the first steven games, and
you know, we were so like used school. We were
calling UM and going into the second half you know,
we're playing a teams that we already played it before,
and it's tough. You know, we changed the game playing
around um and just didn't go our way, and you know,
we feel short. Was there a moment where Mike Tomlin
(17:34):
pulled you aside and said, hey, you gotta do something
about the dancing. Um, No, as far as like, you know,
I kind of want to coach tom and I tell
him like, hey, man, Like, honestly, I think, Um, you know,
I know I'm not the reason why you know, we're
losing because of the dancing. It's more so that you know,
me being distraction, you know for other people. Um, it
got to the point where like other teams or the
(17:56):
media was at seen. You know, my teammates like, hey,
what do you about juice dance? What do you do
about juice? That's and and I never want to be
like that much center of attention for you know, for
the team to be asked about that and instead of
asking while we're losing. And so yeah, okay, So you
get ready to take on the Browns in the playoffs,
and you played in the last game of the regular season,
but you know a lot of the other backups played
(18:18):
and you said the Browns are the Browns and look
for the better part of our lifetime. The Browns. There's
a negative connotation to it. When you walked away from that,
like zoom press conference, did you want to take it
back at all? No, not that I wanted back. Um.
I think I think what I said was what I said,
you know, um, and the media's gonna take you insurance
(18:40):
and how they want to use it. Um. And come on, man,
you you were talking trash and that's okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
for sure, for sure, for sure. Yeah. I mean after
after the game we played, uh, you know, we felt short,
we lost, and you know, but you know what I said,
it was what I said. You know, I'm not changing
to change, you got. I mean, they got a billboard
down in uh in Cleveland just because of me. You know,
(19:02):
I should have trademarked the thing because could have got
some money off of it. So seriously, the Browns are
the Browns that could have been trademark Every time somebody
prints out a shirt, that would have been mailbox money, right.
I Mean, the the one thing that would have lasted
longer than maybe even your career is the Browns of
the Browns. I don't even know this pat Riley trademark
(19:23):
three peaks. So every time somebody prints the shirt says
three peak, somebody's got paying him some money. You should
have done that. You you've been ahead of this thing
in social media. I can't believe you didn't plan ahead
on the Browns of the Browns. Yeah, I think, And honestly,
like that were that right? There was just like off
the top of my head. It wasn't something I was
seeing them all because when he asked me, when I
first asked me a question, it was just like, so,
(19:45):
what do you think about the Browns this week? And
I was like, well, we just played against the Browns,
like the Rounds of the Rouns. If you play against
some every year, like in time of twice a year,
like I've been in the NFL for four years and
Paris team so many times, it's just like, okay, the Browns.
The Browns just play against him juju. Since this season?
Is that? Have you spoken with Ben? I'm not talking
to Ben since the last game? Is that normal? Like
(20:08):
in most years, do you do you talk to Ben
after the season? I mean, we're give me contact. I
think this was a little bit difference just because like,
you know, him trying to what he wants to do
in his situation. What it looks like. He says that
he wants to come back, and uh, he wants certain
players back. So, um, I would love to come back.
I would love the player Ben, Uh, you know, for
the time as being here. That's always the thing in Pittsburgh, right,
(20:30):
great organization, but the big contract, it's a hard one
to get. Does it change because Ben came out last
week and said money doesn't matter to him. He wants
to rework his money, you know, keep guys around. You know,
it means a lot. I mean you're talking talk about
a guy who's you know, he's you know, he wants
to play again. He wants to have the same guys
(20:51):
around him. Uh, and that's what's probably want to take.
And you know, he he doesn't care about the money.
He doesn't he wants to restructure his contract. And I
think that's pretty cool. You know, it just goes to
show that he's more about the team than anything else. Okay,
money obviously is important, and you're you know, you're not
gonna play for fifty years, but how do you balance
out winning the quarterback? You play with the style of
(21:14):
play and you know, the sweat equity. A place like Pittsburgh,
a place that draft you. How does that balance in
your mind in free agency? Yeah, I mean I mean
for me, you know, I'm always about winning. Um, you know,
I'm always down to you know, I want to be
on a team where you know we're we're fighting. You know,
we compete for the playoffs every year. Um. As far
as the business size and the money, I feel like,
(21:34):
you know, only we pay for what I'm worth. Um,
obviously you know what for what I do, you know,
for the for the team particularly and like and then
again all it makes sense you know to bring in
Bend and uh, you know, to have a quarterback you know,
who I can play with for the future. What are
you doing with the Wake coast for the Super Bowl week? Yeah? Man,
(21:55):
so actually I did. I'm doing okwards. It's really cool.
We're don't have to pro face, which they seally, you know,
getting ugly means uh, you know, setting new records on
and off the field, and um, you'll be you'll be
able to say, I mean, I'm in a little video
you see me. I have my own ugly place. Personally,
I think it's funny, it's awesome. Uh and um, it's
(22:16):
just really cool, you know, because this is a brand
that you know, if I've worked with before, and you know,
it's just specialized to me. And not only that, also
are doing pros for Prose where they're doing um basically
like a hundred percent a thousand, a thousand for a
hundred people for a thousand dollars minimum where they can
raise money for their fitness programs and stuff like that
(22:37):
for all the pro uh finished people out there. And
you can check out articles pro for pros dot com,
which is really cool. So, um, man, if you want
to try some orgos, I can send some of your
way Man. I know you just got know you just
got the plane. You're probably hungry. I can get you right, Okay,
So when you go yogurt with the way cushers, great
yogur it's fantastic. Do you go plane? Do you had
(22:57):
some granola? Do you had some berries? Give me your game.
I'm a I'm all about the fruit. So I do
uh banana strawberries, and I put some grenode in there.
Gotta mix it up the flavor. Juju Smith Suster on
the dug Gotlip Show Juju, I really appreciate your time.
Appreciation is the oikos as well. Best luck and free agency.
(23:17):
Let's talk soon, okay, man, thank you man, I appreciate
it all right. That's my guy, Juju Smith Schuster joining
us on the Dug Gotlip Show. See's he gone? Okay music?
Did you think it was weird that he hasn't talked
to Ben? You know, it's it's funny you say that.
I I guess so, Um. I I sort of understand
(23:40):
where he's coming from, though. I think he, even though
he may not admit it, he may feel as though
he knows he's sort of out in Pittsburgh. So maybe
that's why I don't think it's odd that he hasn't
spoken with Ben. I mean, they're just in such a
cap situation, um, and Juju hasn't been as strong since
they lost Antonio Brown. Unless he's willing to take that
(24:03):
potentially below market value contract. I think another team will
pay much more money for him, and he knows he's
probably out in Pittsburgh. D What do you think? Yeah?
I I thought it was interesting but not surprising. And
what made me what pomped up into my head is
when Antonio Brown kind of clapped back at Big Ben
(24:25):
when he said, we aren't friends. I have only been
over to your house once in my entire career with
Pittsburgh and and so you know, to have that like,
maybe that's the relationship. Maybe Ben isn't friends with these guys.
Maybe Ben's just too old to be friends with these guys.
I I you know, I don't, I don't know, but
(24:46):
you know, well, Antonio Brown and Juju had their own issues.
When Ben came out and tried to say what he
had to say about you know Brown, Antonio was like, yeah,
you know, we're not friends and your house once. So
I think the that I think that maybe Antonio Brown
isn't alone in having that sort of relationship with Ben Robin.
No, no no, look, I I totally get it. I do understand. Okay, um,
(25:12):
but I think it's interesting. It's interesting that he's older
and maybe he's you know, he's a family guy, whatever,
but you find a way to be more relatable. And
I get by the way, nowadays you don't necessarily have
to talk to him about You can just send him
a text, Hey man, I'd love to have you back
next year, Like let's figure this thing out. So one,
(25:33):
I think, and this is to your point, Dan, it
does tell you a little bit about who Big Ben
is and has been, and to it also tells you.
I don't think he's back in Pittsburgh, which is interesting
because he's always been really well liked. I do think that,
even though I think it comes from a good place,
like I don't think he has He's not one of
(25:54):
these like Jujus Smith Schuster bad guy, but I do
think it was general kind of silliness and it's a
point in time like, look, there's a lot of drops
on that on that football team, and I don't I
don't know. I don't think he's elevated himself to number
one ride receiver money in their mind, and they've never
been a place that really likes to pay dudes. Am
I crazy? No, not at all. And as Ryan said,
(26:16):
their cap situation is something else. I mean, you know
they've got they got a lot of decisions, and you know,
Marquise Pouncey had talked about retirement, so you're changing that
on their offensive line, Bud Dupree had the franchise tag
coming off of an A C L. You don't think
he's probably gonna be back there are a lot of
names in Pittsburgh that just won't be back next season. Yeah,
(26:39):
it'll it'll be a weird year. It's it's it feels
a little bit like the Patriots this year. Could be
the Steelers next year, although they're always good. But the
Bud Dupree injury, um, the Devin Bush injury, you know,
the changes with all the free agents. My guess is,
you know, Big Ben takes a small amount and they
(27:00):
continue to kick it down, the kick it down the
street a little bit and they probably draft another quarterback
at some point, or maybe they maybe they signed one
of these guys. I don't know. Yeah, you got a
new offensive coordinator now. Matt Canada ended up, you know,
being promoted and takes over that job. So you have
no running game now. Matt Canada is he's brilliant from
(27:21):
his time at pitt Okay, do people, I don't know
people know this. So when when Deshaun Watson was at
Clemson and they won the national championship, Matt Canada was
the offensive coordinator at pitt and and uh what's named
petermant Nathan Peterman was his quarterback and they beat him
and they beat him at Clemson a matter of fact,
and then he went to l s U. And this
(27:42):
is before Brady got to l s U. And it
was did the system was just too advanced to put
in in one and they didn't. There wasn't a ton
of buy in, and they got rid of him, and
he kind of bounced around. He made his way back
to Pittsburgh and now they elevate him offensive coordinator. I
liked him a lot, and I've heard of people like
him a great deal. I don't know how Ben Roethlisberger
(28:04):
fits with what he wants to do, but but Big
Ben is that he's that guy who it's really hard
to put him out the pasture and tell him he's done. Yeah,
they'd really benefit for someone that's mobile, you know, like
someone that can actually move at the quarterback position. You
know that, you know, Mason Rudolph isn't There isn't there
(28:25):
answer there either. So I kind of just feel like,
you know, and I think a lot of Steelers fans
feel this way. I saw an online poll and Behind
the Curtain, which is one of the you know Steeler
fan sites, and they asked if they wanted Ben Roethlisberger
back next season, asking the Steelers fan base, and more
than sevent said they wanted him to retire for a
(28:46):
variety of reasons. I'm sure Doug his pay, his play
where they are as a team, but I think that
Big Bend not retiring is kind of delaying the inevitable
for Pittsburgh that they're going to have to restart, and
him coming back next year is not going to be
good for the franchises they try to move forward. Now
that's the voice of one Dan Buyer and Dan Steer,
(29:08):
and I'll have this remember on Friday when we did
the Herd, there was the Steelers are already being asked
about and having to talk about t J. Watts up
for his big extension and so in addition to the
cap issues that they're having, I mean, you're gonna have
to pay or you would expect that they are going
to have to pay quite a bit amount of money
(29:28):
for a player like t J. Watt to stay around
long term because they're likely not going to let him
go in free agency. So it's all these other factors
that just lead you to believe, like, Okay, do you
really need another B B plus type wide receiver when
you have Chase Claypool you have Deonte Johnson or are
you gonna try and invest more money into remaking your
(29:49):
aging offensive line and a star pass rusher like t J.
Watt and then potentially, you know, as Dan had mentioned,
Bud Dupree and all these other players like I just
think Juju, which is why he probably hasn't talked to Ben.
I think he knows he's sort of seen the writing
on the wall. I'm sure his agents already have probably
have tried to have extension conversations with the Steelers and
(30:10):
probably didn't like what they've heard. So he's probably like, look, man,
I'm out of here. Yeah, that would that's say. Those
are all reasonable thoughts. Um. I think it's interesting, like
the Packers got crucified, they continue to get crucified for
drafting Jordan's love, Like, do you know who the Packers
don't want to be? They don't want to be the Steelers. Then,
(30:32):
remember big Ben has forty one million dollars in dead
cap money. Now, some of that goes away if he retires.
He doesn't want to. They never another guys ever want
to retire, right, but it's like half of it goes away.
That's still a huge number. And then they're in cap
hell and they don't have the answer behind him. I
don't know Jordan's love can play, but I know another
year and he'll be further along. He hadn't got any
(30:53):
preseason games. He's gotten not a game run right, Like,
you gotta prepare yourself because eventually they all do get old.
They all do get old. A change of scenery has
been very good for student certain superstar and it's not
just Tom Brady. I'll explain next. Fox Sports Radio has

My good friend Jade actually just sent me an email.
She was listening and she's like, I'm from Pittsburgh and
Ben not talking to Juju is a problem, totally completely.
They ain't talked. One's a free agent, the other one
(31:37):
is the quarterback. Come on, come on, I was born
at night. Just not last night, just not last night.
The Doug got Lip Show here on Fox Sports Radio.
Let's get to the press, the press. Here's Dan Buyer,
Dan do with some news from Super Bowl fifty five.
(31:58):
We'll hear from some of the Part two suppends in
a second, but the Chiefs did place backup center Daniel
Kilgore and wide receiver to Marcus Robinson on the reserve
COVID list. No positive tests. Buddy and Rapp, a board
of the NFL network says they were in close contact
with someone who did test positive. So if they do
test positive or excuse me, test negative throughout the week,
they still could be cleared for Super Bowl. Well, um,
(32:23):
and it's like fascinating, Like I saw I won't name
who his name, but he was like, man, are you
you guys all gotta quarantine yourself? Like no, really, just okay, Um.
I'm surprised none of these guys got the vaccine. I'm
surprised they didn't, like in the playoffs, give everybody the vaccine.
(32:46):
But they'll they'll be fine. I'm guessing Pat Mahomes and
Tom Brady will not be tested. Tarrek Hill will not
be tested. I wouldn't. What's what, What's what's the point? Seriously,
they should not test anybody ever the rest of the
rest of the week. Don't test anybody. It's Super Spread
or Bowl fifty five. I mean, we're done after this,
(33:10):
like hold me out next game. We're we're good. And
Andy Reid, by the way today did chime in on
the health of Patrick Mahomes. Nothing to do with COVID,
but more about that toe injury and that concussion. I'm
not a doctor or so they've got. They've been poked
and pronged and not everything here tested and retested. So
you've gotta go back through and do that now the
(33:31):
final one and and just see where we're at. But
they've done well and they've looked looking at normal. I
rely on the docks. I'm a doctor, not a coal miner.
I've never heard that one before. I think they're new. Uh.
(33:52):
Doug tom Brady wade in about playing uh what he's
would you consider playing beyond, especially with the way you're
playing right now? Yeah, definitely, Um, I would definitely consider that.
And you know, again, I think again it's a physical
sport and just the perspective I have on that is,
you know, you never know kind of when, uh you
(34:14):
know that moment is just because it's a contact sport
and there's a lot of training that goes into it,
and again it has to be a hundred percent commitment
from myself to keep doing it will be the interim
c all um. Yeah, I mean it's once you lose
the drive to to prepare. I just think like there's
(34:35):
a the keyword is considerate and oh yeah, by the way,
do you do you think that Giselle is gonna be
down for that? Right? Like, oh yeah, you you just
keep playing as long as you want. We don't want
you around the house. So I the keyword is considerate.
I think you'll consider it. I don't think it's any
chance he does it. Moving up, moving on, Jason Witten's
(34:58):
found work taking over as the head football coach at
Liberty Christian School in the Dallas Fort Worth area. Gonna
be retiring from the NFL. So now Jason Witten not
going to continue with the broadcasting, but instead gonna be
a high school football coach. Yeah. I don't know if
you saw this. So Trent Dilfer's UH program put out
a put out a tweet that they wanted they gotta open.
(35:20):
They want to play him, Like, let's let's play him. Look,
Jason win is a really well respected guy. He clearly
wants to stay around the sport. I don't blame him
for the broadcasting thing. You'd take Monday night football if
they offered it to you. Just think a tight ends
perspective is a hard one. And he was one of
those guys that everybody always liked, and he always said
smart things. But there's just a difference between being a
(35:41):
great interview and being a great uh you know, color analysts.
Following wins over Texas and Alabama, in fact, three straight
wins over top ten teams, the Oklahoma Sooners jump from
number twenty four to number nine in this week's AP
Top College Hoops Bowl. The top five mentioned it earlier,
but if you missed it, Gonzega, Baylor, Villanova, and Michigan
(36:04):
with the top four, and then Houston jumped up to five,
Texas drop the six. Look, it's Gonzaga Baylor and then
kind of everyone else. And I've seen a bunch of
teams up close, and I did four games last week,
taking a break a little bit this week, but um,
I just think Gonzag Baylor is much better defensively and
(36:25):
really good offensively. Gonzaga is unbelievable offensively. And then remember,
you know, everything's been played in a bubble true neutral
site in the around Indianapolis It's gonna be an interesting tournament,
but I'd be stunned if Gonzaga or Baylor, one of
the two don't win the whole thing. Doug Nets guard
James Harden named the NBA's Eastern Conference Player of the
(36:45):
Week for his efforts last week. Nicola Yokitch of the
Nuggets when the honor in the Western Conference? Did you,
did you guy see the Brad Beel video where he
was just not doing anything at times in the first
half yesterday and then he, I quote retweeted your tweets, Doug.
It was crazy. It was crazy. And then he and
(37:08):
Russell Westbrook and then Westbrook unleashes I'm the best teammate
Kevin Durant's ever had. Like, okay, sure, you keep telling
yourself that. Finally, Doug in the in the category of
I thought he retired a while ago. Dustin Pedroia made
it official. When when was the last time Dustin Padroia
took a swing in a batter's box? It was en
(37:29):
but he played like six games that season, three and
like the year before, so it was sen was his
last full season anyway, officially announced his announcing his retirement
from baseball today, Get out there and pressed that was
the press. Let's get old, man. I guess you just
get old. There's a guy, I mean, you talk about
overachieved Holy Cow? Right, Holy Cow? Based upon where he
(37:53):
cam Akers joined us tomorrow will ask Khim why didn't
he get the invites? Stafford and McVeigh down in Cowbo,
why don't get the invite? Plus Jordan's love joins us tomorrow. Huh,
oh my gosh, the questions. You're gonna have to tune
in because we'll ask the hard ones and we'll see
what these guys say. It's super weak here on the
