Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, this is the Doug Gottly Show. Heres in
the bonus with Doug Gottlie.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
What right up?

Speaker 3 (00:16):
You might need a translator, you know what that is?
And it is to the pot on a daily basis.

Speaker 4 (00:21):
Oh, our national lame Ara is over.

Speaker 3 (00:24):
Damian Lillard has been traded a right, no more dame
time and manned the Bucks the Bucks. All that the
Bucks had to give up was, uh, a really good
player in and Drew Holiday. Okay, a really good player
in and Drew Holiday. And Grace Allen who's a good

(00:46):
bench player, bed shooter. But I think the win win
win is you know, Portland's gonna end up. And it
kind of interesting where it feels like Portland hasn't gotten it.

Speaker 4 (00:58):
I don't know have they gotten any trade p any
draft picks.

Speaker 3 (01:01):
They're gonna get Drew Holliday, which probably will end up
leading to draft picks. They end up getting DeAndre Ayton,
who Deandreen's good scoring big and maybe that's what they
roll with and they just ride out those contracts. But
I will tell you that the Phoenix Suns killed it
in this. You know, so Damian Lode has been traded,

(01:23):
so is Drew Holiday, and so has DeAndre Ayton, and
of the teams that did well, obviously you're gonna look
at Damian Lular and Giannison Tenakumpo. And remember the Bucks
have Chris Milton and Brook Lopez, so they had to
give up you know, their second or third best player,

(01:43):
the best defender in the Drew Holiday. But you get
Damian Lild in return. So you lose on defense, you
gain on offense and in spacing, and you lose a
good bench piece.

Speaker 4 (01:53):
But that's not that much.

Speaker 3 (01:55):
I actually love what the Phoenix Suns have done because
if for whatever they've even before they matched the deal
I think with Indy to keep DeAndre Ayton, they didn't
want DeAndre Ayton around and they just had a top
heavy team with these you know, three stars and didn't
have enough defense. Nurkic is a very good rim protecting

(02:18):
big who doesn't need the ball offensively to be effective.
And then oh yeah, by the way, you acquired some
other pieces which are going to allow you to either
have depth with them or probably you know, cutable buyout
able contracts that allow them to acquire some other assets.
I think from the Nuggets, from the Nuggets, from the Suns.
This is a move before another move. I think for

(02:41):
the Bucks this is a move to keep Giannis and
go for a championship. And I think for the Blazers
this is probably a move before a couple of moves
as they scrap it and completely start over. It does
feel like a win win, although my only question about
the Trail Blazers in the did they win is did
they get enough? And oh yeah, By the way, the
arrogance of Miami, I think has come back to bite them.

(03:04):
The arrogance of Miami has come back to bite them.
And forever we thought Miami was the team, Miami was
the team.

Speaker 4 (03:10):
Miami was the team.

Speaker 3 (03:13):
And you can say what you want about Tyler Hero,
Drew Holliday and DeAndre Ayden are a lot better return
than Tyler Hero and a bunch of shits you don't want.
I think the losers today were the Miami Heat, who
they like to tell you about Heat culture, and I
think they honestly, they pissed a lot of teams off
in the league at the idea that they were poaching

(03:34):
a Damian Lillard and it ends.

Speaker 4 (03:37):
Up coming back to bite him.

Speaker 3 (03:38):
And it's a better deal for Portland. Tyler Hero and
some other pieces they didn't want, and maybe a couple
of draft picks or Drew Holliday and DeAndre Ayden. It's
not even close, not even close. So people were laughing
at Portland when they balked at the heat trade and

(03:58):
we thought that's where he's gonna end up.

Speaker 4 (04:00):
Nope. But to Damian Lillard, you know.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
Hey, if you thought you were spending your your winter
in South Beach, you're gonna spend it at Milwaukee. Nonetheless,
you can't say you don't have talent around you. And look,
this is a move to get Giannis to sign the
extension to keep him, you know, to have two elite stars.
And the best part about it is there's a lot
of talk. Hey, Lillard, it's a lot of money. He's
later in his career, he's not he doesn't have to

(04:26):
do as much with this team. He's the second best player.
He's gonna have tons of space to do what he
wants to do. They have a Legit center, they actually
have both lopezes. Bucks are officially the favorite in the East,
Sons to me become the favorite in the West, and
Miami is the biggest loser.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
Be sure to catch live editions of the Doug Gottlieb
Show weekdays at three pm Eastern noon Pacific on Fox
Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 4 (04:54):
Let's get to what the Fox is and.

Speaker 3 (04:56):
Now here's LaVar Arrington and Brady Quinn having an exchange
about Colin Kaepernick's letter to the Jets.

Speaker 5 (05:03):
My first quick when I read the statement, my first
quick reaction was, did you need to see Zach Wilson
not prove out to have those sentiments as why you
should be brought in? Can't you say that for all
thirty two teams right now today, that you could bring

(05:25):
that to the table without having seen an injury take
place to the starter and a backup that isn't going well.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
You have, they wouldn't get as much attention.

Speaker 5 (05:35):
It's just again, it's just continued, you know, like an
opportunistic type of approach to things that are going on,
Like why would well.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
Why wouldn't you write it to all thirty two teams?

Speaker 4 (05:49):
Right?

Speaker 2 (05:49):
He's trying to be on the practice squad.

Speaker 5 (05:51):
Right, Like, if you really want to be back and
play and play in the NFL and you're just asking
for an opportunity to be in the practice squad, why
not write all thirty NFL teams.

Speaker 6 (06:01):
I mean the given.

Speaker 2 (06:04):
Take it further.

Speaker 5 (06:06):
There's the USFL, there's the XFL that just they just
had a season and you didn't play.

Speaker 4 (06:16):
I mean, like, look, I think those guys nail it, right.

Speaker 3 (06:19):
And here we're watching I'm watching ESPN right now, and
there's video highlights of Colin Kaepernick throwing at Michigan. I
think that was a year and a half ago. A
year and a half ago. Right, He's done and and
it's like a topic on first take, And look, there's
a lot of different elements to it. Here's the first

(06:39):
thing that we have to We have to at least
at some point come to an understanding of Colin Kaepernick
wasn't good his last three years or so in the NFL.
And you can sit there and go like, well, his
numbers were decent at the end on a bad team
with the San Francisco forty nine ers, but it was
they were the worst.

Speaker 4 (06:58):
Team in the league.

Speaker 3 (06:59):
Right, So it's been since twoenty thirteen that he was good.

Speaker 4 (07:05):
That's ten years ago. Ten years ago.

Speaker 3 (07:08):
He did have a legitimate workout with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Speaker 4 (07:13):
Last year was the publicity stune.

Speaker 3 (07:15):
I don't know but it was a legitimate workout, And
what happens with a legitimate workout is when you have one,
if somebody thinks you're good, they will pick up the
phone and.

Speaker 4 (07:25):
Say, hey, look he for us. But I'll tell you what.

Speaker 3 (07:28):
He can still kind of play it, can still spin it.
All of these guys that aren't playing anymore can still
throw a football on air.

Speaker 4 (07:36):
They all can.

Speaker 3 (07:39):
So the first thing is that if he was good,
If he was good, he wouldn't have fallen out of
favor in the league the way he did because he
still had a career after taking a knee. The misconception
he still had a career off taking a knee. He
went and visited Seattle. Remember he wanted to be a starter.
That was what he hasn't handled things well. So One,

(08:03):
there's the idea of how good really was he when
he was good for a year and a half in
the NFL. There's been a lot of quarterbacks that have
been good for a year and a half and then
everybody adjusted to him and then he became at best
very average. Okay. Secondly, it's been a decade. Third, he
said some things about the NFL that you can't come
back from you can't do a documentary. You can't do

(08:27):
a documentary that likens the NFL draft to slave trade
and then go, hey, but I want back in the
National Football League. So if he was any good, had
had any chance of playing, somebody else would have brought
him in after the Las Vegas.

Speaker 4 (08:51):
Throwing session.

Speaker 3 (08:53):
Right, it wasn't just the kneeling, It wasn't It was
that when he was gonna sign with the Baltimore Ravens.
His girlfriend at the time, and I have no idea
if they're still together. I have not stayed up on
those those updates. Put out a meme that likened the

(09:15):
owner of the Baltimore Ravens to the slave owner in
Django unchained. And that's and by the way, that was
John Harbaugh, whose brother Jim Harbaugh coached him, liked him
and in San Francisco and had him throw for them,
and when he was at at obviously at Michigan a
year and a half ago. So when your friends in it,
when you when you ship on a relationship the way

(09:38):
he did with the Harbaugh's or the way his girlfriend
did with Harba's like that, it's really hard to find
another spot.

Speaker 4 (09:46):
Now.

Speaker 3 (09:46):
The reason that it might have been a possibility with
the Jets is Sala came from San Francisco and maybe
there was the Hey, you know, Colin Kaepernick went all
that bad.

Speaker 4 (09:56):
He blah blah blah blah blah blah blah.

Speaker 3 (09:58):
I don't blame him for right a letter to the Jets.
I do blame him for why do you have Jake
Cole involved? How does that have anything to do with anything?

Speaker 4 (10:07):
But I don't have any problem with that. Is that opportunistic?

Speaker 3 (10:09):
Sure, but anyone who's looking for an opportunity, you got
to pursue it when it could become available. But I
just think there's so much he's working against and if
the thought was he had any chot of being any
good at all, he would have gotten that opportunity. After
the Oakland workout, Oh sorry, the Vegas workout last year.
Here's Richard Sherman giving advice to Colorado on how they
can beat usc this weekend.

Speaker 6 (10:29):
You gotta come in with no expectations. Don't go in
there try to ruffle feathers. Obviously they saw how that
win last week with Oregon. You know, don't go in there. Well,
they're at home this week, but don't put no bulletin
board material up. You don't need to do that. Go
quietly into the game. Go quietly, go humbly, have some humility.
That's what's going to require to get a victory in

(10:50):
a game like this. You don't wake up the sleeping giants.
Sometimes you do if you built like that. Right now,
you guys aren't quite built like that. You don't have
the offensive line, the defensive line to be built like that.
You don't need to ruffle no feathers. Last week got
ruffle feathers. It was overquid and let's not do that again. Yeah,
but you're right, feathers got plucked. But this team is vulnerable.

(11:13):
USC against Nevada they gave up multiple plays of seventy
plus yards to the Nevada the Nevada wolf Pack, And
before that, San Jose State was having their way moving
it up and down the field. They were just out manned.
Their defense didn't have enough to stop SC's offense.

Speaker 3 (11:34):
Look, look, I understand the idea is keeping them off
the field. Right, Keeping the offense off the field moved
the football, and you would like to be able to
run the football, but that's not what Colorado does does best.
I think USC's defense is actually better than you think,
and I think their offense is really good. And I
think the biggest problem that Colorado's running into is just
the attrition. You know, Shiloh Sanders, who of course was

(11:57):
talking trash, but you know there are some big hits
that he did deliver. He ends up in the hospital
with his kidney bleeding some does he even play this
weekend If you don't have Travis Hunter and you don't
have Shiloh Sanders, and you're already having offensive line issues
like good luck.

Speaker 4 (12:18):
So I'm not saying what Richard Sherman is saying.

Speaker 3 (12:25):
Is inaccurate, right, that dude has forgotten more about football
than I know from watching it on tape. What I
will tell you, though, is that look, that's not a
great football team. They aren't great upfront, and everybody has
film on them now and people are starting to make adjustments.

(12:46):
I think it'll be a really, really tough afternoon in Boulder.
This is a Covino and rich talking about Travis Excuse me,
he's talking about Travis Kelcey and Taylor Swift.

Speaker 7 (12:59):
The people that are hating on this with stuff like
who cares about Taylor Swift?

Speaker 2 (13:04):
Why are they.

Speaker 7 (13:05):
Showing her who cares people that are hating they're cut
from the same cloth as the people that were rooting
for Coach Prime to finally lose. Like they take a
joy hating this the mainstream story, like.

Speaker 2 (13:17):
Who cares about Taylor Swift? Coach Prime lost? Good?

Speaker 7 (13:20):
Those people all need a hug. If you need to
talk to someone, one of our sponsors has better help.
It's like, I'll talk to you if you want to
talk to me at Rich Davis, at Kavino, Rich, if
you need a hug that bad that Taylor Swift annoys
you and you're so excited Coach Prime lost.

Speaker 2 (13:35):
I think you really life maybe just beating you down
a little bit. I'm with you, Rich.

Speaker 8 (13:38):
It's like I've always said, no good story comes without hate, right,
There's always gonna be people that hate on that story
for whatever reason. It brings them joy to be the
contrarian to hate on it, and I try not to
be that person. But there's a lot of people that
did want to see Coach Prime lose. Oh man, it's
over now, I'm not really I'm still excited about it.

(14:01):
They weren't expected to win that game. Yeah, they took
a beating they lost forty two to six. I get it,
but you're relishing and reveling in the failure of coach
Prime instead of saying, Hey, Oregon, that's a great team.
And when it comes to Travis Kelcey and Taylor Swift,
you're real angry about it, and there's no real reason
to be angry. Right, it's overblown, that's fine, that's normal observation.

(14:23):
But me mad about it and hating on it and
rooting against it, that's just odd behavior.

Speaker 3 (14:30):
Well, Jason Stewart is is one of the guys that
you'd say is odd behavior, is an odd behavioral list,
But what's the what's the reality here? The reality here
is that Look, it's it's a very unique story, and
it does feel a little forced, and all of the

(14:54):
benefits of a couple of dates or one date with
Taylor Swift is what Travis Kelcey is experience.

Speaker 4 (15:00):
And so.

Speaker 3 (15:03):
Part of Jason your deal is you're a cynic by nature,
and this is a story that leads to a lot
of cynicism.

Speaker 2 (15:09):
Yeah, and I think you would agree with this, Doug,
Like I typically have reasoning behind my cynicism, Like I
don't just hate everything, just on face value. I've done
a pretty good job this week of explaining myself. On Monday,
I said I can't stand the story, but I can't
put my finger on it, and then on Tuesday I

(15:29):
explained on this podcast that it's infiltrated my workspace. I
consume so much NFL on a daily basis for my
job that every time something like this comes up, I'm
forced to look at it read it. This has nothing
to do with Taylor Swift or her art. She's a

(15:49):
wonderful human being and she's done a lot of great things,
and I respect her brand. It's just that it has
infiltrated my workspace. That's why I personally annoyed by the story.
And by the way, Covin and Rich I'm two for two.
I was also rooting for Deon Sanders to lose, so
I guess I do need a really big hug. I

(16:10):
will say this to Coveno and Rich here. They've done
a lot of great things and they are a wonderful
addition to this network. I really do. I love their energy.
They're awesome, and I totally understand why they're why they're
into the story. This kind of fits perfectly into their content,
Like they are masters of weaving pop culture into sports.

(16:30):
They're they're amazing at it, and that's their talent for
my personal content, someone who came up with in the
gym role model of like negative cells and sell negative
every day. And that's not for everybody, but it's just
kind of the way I was brought up. I look
for the negative and I look for the cynicism. So

(16:52):
that's kind of my explanation. But I love the fact
that they're passionate about it, and I love the fact
that that people are passionate about it. But that's my
explanation about why it annoys me.

Speaker 3 (17:03):
Okay, I do I do think it's I think it's cool, right,
And here's why I think it's cool. And again, I
don't know Travis's thoughts with it or whatever, but I
would like to think that if I was Travis key Kelsey,
I'm like a good looking, financially secure superstar athlete and

(17:27):
I was single, that wouldn't you like to try it?

Speaker 4 (17:30):
Like?

Speaker 3 (17:32):
What is the point of working for all that stardom
if you can't use it to benefit you in in
the most obvious way possible? Like why do guys like
to play sports? It's never necessarily been about money. But
the money and the fame and the glory and that
you're in good shape usually leads you to date hot chicks,

(17:52):
doesn't it. But isn't that the most most obvious thing?

Speaker 4 (17:57):
You know?

Speaker 3 (17:57):
It's like, it doesn't mean you love your sport any less,
but the sport does provide.

Speaker 4 (18:01):
And if you were that guy and you're.

Speaker 3 (18:03):
Like, like Taylor Swift single, why don't you ask her out?

Speaker 4 (18:08):
Okay?

Speaker 3 (18:09):
So he like took his shot. I love it, and
like he gets her to come to it. She comes
to a game like a Random Bears game, Like that's cool.
My view of it is is the opposite, Like I
think I don't of you their newest podcast, there's a
clip of it that's online where he's like, you know,
who did Andy Reid set this up? Because he knows

(18:32):
the Swifts right? Who knew Cupid was that big? Like
the whole thing is great. I think it's fun. I
think again, if I was a single superstar athlete, you know,
around thirty years old, and I want to take my shot,
you know, why not take my shot at the most
eligible bachelorette, famous bachelorette on earth? And that just happens
to be Taylor Swift. I mean, Bill Belichick had a

(18:54):
funny line about it, like, how great is that? So
I'm enjoying it, But I do understand your citizen, I
actually actually actually do. That's what the Fox said say.

Speaker 1 (19:09):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Doug Gottlieb
Show weekdays at three pm Eastern noon Pacific on Fox
Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 4 (19:19):
Let's find out what's annoying Jason Stewart.

Speaker 2 (19:23):
And now it's your annoying, Hey, Doug. Colin Kaepernick wrote
a letter to the Jets.

Speaker 8 (19:36):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (19:36):
Basically, it's a It's one of those like form letters
with sentiment basically saying, you know your you're thinnt quarterback.
I would love to have a chance on the practice squad.
That's news. That's not annoying that that is an annoying.
I'm not even annoyed that he thinks he could play.
That's cool. What I'm annoyed by is, Doug, how do

(19:57):
we know about this letter?

Speaker 4 (20:00):
Because it's posted on social media.

Speaker 2 (20:02):
He had his guy Jay Cole, who's got like fifty
million people on social media. He had Jay Cole post
the letter. I think it it definitely. I guess works
into the equation here. How could you be as serious

(20:23):
and genuine as your letter stipulates that this is about
I'd love another shot. I think it could help your squad.
But alongside you have a famous rapper sending out the letter,
basically putting the Jets on the spot. Now the nation
and everybody with Kaepernick's cause is just going to wait

(20:43):
for a Jets response. They want the Jets to go
on record and someone to ask the Jets why they're
not bringing him in. Basically, so to me, it's a
publicity stunt. I know you have your thoughts on how
good Kaepernick is and what this is, but like, the
way I found out really bugs me. There's something again,
I used this word earlier in the week, I think

(21:03):
unseemly about the way I found out.

Speaker 4 (21:07):
I don't think it's unseeming.

Speaker 3 (21:08):
I think it's a little bit transparent, right, Like all
of these conversations you can have, even have this letter
is fine, But why does it have to become public
because he's trying to create public sentiment to oh yeah,
why don't you bring him in? Like it has been mentioned, right,
it had been mentioned the last time Colin.

Speaker 4 (21:28):
Kaepernick was really good.

Speaker 3 (21:31):
Was twenty thirteen, twenty thirteen, if you want to go
twenty fourteen he had ten interceptions.

Speaker 4 (21:40):
That's when he lost his job.

Speaker 3 (21:42):
Fine, you know, fine, and twenty fifteen, but we're talking
nine to ten NFL seasons ago. You know, he was
a good for a short period of time sort of guy,
that's what he was. And with a disaster of a
final Final run in San Francisco where he chose to stay.

(22:03):
You know, yeah, the stats look decent, but the reality was,
first of all, NFL pastors have become far more efficient.
His number one skill was running. He's not nearly going
to be as athletic ten years later as he was previously.

Speaker 4 (22:17):
Like, all of this is just such.

Speaker 3 (22:19):
But the biggest thing is, you know, you come in,
you want to be humble with the letter and humble
with your approach. But then why would you put it
on the media and social media in terms of the
amount of attention that you get.

Speaker 4 (22:32):
That's the issue.

Speaker 2 (22:33):
With it, exactly exactly, And when you already have.

Speaker 3 (22:35):
An issue with Zach Wilson, like, do you think for
one second you want to bring in to Colin Kaepernick,
because then and this is what was told to me
back in twenty seventeen. I asked the gentle manager, like, hey,
would you bring in Colin Kaepernick? He's like, bringing him
in is no problem. Cutting him is the problem because
then when you cut him now you're made to seem

(22:56):
like you're a racist, Like we're just trying to win
football games here, we don't care. If he was any good,
he would be on a roster if he had a chance.
And I love the idea that he wants to be
in a practice squad. Why don't you play in any
of the summer spring leagues? There was two of them, right,
it's like twenty or so opportunities. Nope, too good for that.
Now you eat humble pie, you know, and your seven

(23:17):
years removed from me in the league. It's probably too late.
The way sports work is, it really works, is when
he when he had the workout for the Raiders last year,
if he was close to being an NFL quarterback, somebody
would have called somebody else that like, hey, you should
give this guy a look, But they haven't because he's not.

Speaker 4 (23:38):
What else annoys me?

Speaker 2 (23:39):
This really annoys me. It's gonna annoy me, I think
all season. But there is a growing sentiment national voices
that Brandon Stayaway needs to go. It's almost just like
a matter of what Colin Cowherd had a text exchange
with you on Sunday night. Do they fire him on
the tarmac or wait till they get back to LA

(24:01):
what a funny text to you? And then he said
it on the air Monday, which is it's not a
matter of if it's a when with Brandon Staley. Go
on Twitter right now and type in Brandon Staley fire
and you'll see how many people are talking about this.
The problem is that it's a dollar late and a

(24:21):
buck short. What is it called something late? A buck short?
You don't understand that firing stay whether it be now
or after the season, means you're giving the next head
coach a roster with the salary cap that factors in
Justin Herbert's expensive number, that the defense is going to

(24:43):
be slimmed down tremendously because it's the most expensive defense
in the NFL and Austin Eckler is going to likely
be playing elsewhere. You're giving the next head coach a
much different situation than you would have been given a
head coach this year. And that's what bugs the shit
out of me about this. Now, the sentiment is that

(25:07):
he should be fired. Of course, I said the day
after Jacksonville that one of the reasons Staley will probably
keep his job is because there just aren't enough fans,
Like there's not enough of a groundswell to get the
attention of the owners. You know, I'm not saying owners
make decisions based on fans centement.

Speaker 3 (25:24):
Hold on, dude, dude, who do they want? Who do
people want them to hire? Who do the people want toire?
I didn't care they want to hire Sean Payton. Sean
Payton's been a fucking disaster. His team just gave up
seventy fucking points. Look, do I think brand Staley's a
great coach. There's nothing that proves to me he's a
great coach. Do I think he's a disaster?

Speaker 4 (25:43):
I don't.

Speaker 3 (25:45):
They lost two games by five points, Okay, and they've
done so.

Speaker 4 (25:50):
You know, the last two games.

Speaker 3 (25:52):
They played without their star running back who I don't
know if he's heard or if he's injured. Let's just
be honest, because he wants new salary.

Speaker 4 (26:00):
So they went to the play Did they went to
go the playoffs last year? Did they or did they
not go to the playoffs last year?

Speaker 2 (26:05):
Yeah? And they lost to a thirty point lead in
that game.

Speaker 3 (26:08):
It wasn't a thirty point league. But did did they
go to the playoff last year?

Speaker 2 (26:12):
Yes?

Speaker 4 (26:13):
Was that improvement of the year before?

Speaker 2 (26:15):
Yeah, the year.

Speaker 3 (26:17):
And the and the year before with that roster they
didn't have their starting left tackle. So like, again, I'm
not a Brandon Stanley second fan. But again, if you
were going if you were going to fire Brandon Staley,
people thought you should hire Sean Payton, who would want
his own GM Hey, and that shit wasn't gonna happen
because Telasco's built a really good roster. And oh yeah,

(26:39):
by the way, like all of this iffuse praise over
Sean Payton in the hiring, it's been a fucking disaster.
Like no one's mentioned that until me right now, all
of these people who and and by the way, the
oh now you're a Charger fan, now you give a shit,
so I I I actually have at least you are
actually a charge You will go to a game, you know,

(27:02):
but you have people on social media.

Speaker 4 (27:03):
Like, dude, what are we doing here?

Speaker 3 (27:08):
Did I agree with going for it on fourth down?
On your own twenty four. No, but the organization did.
That's actually an organizational belief in going for it. And
if you look at their schedule coming up, they're gonna
beat the Raiders this week because the Raiders are more
of a disaster right with Josh mcdanis as their head coach.

Speaker 4 (27:28):
It's hard.

Speaker 3 (27:29):
And then we'll see what happens with the Cowboys, who
they played. They got a week off before they played
the Cowboys, right, which means they'll have Eckler back and
they'll have had time to figure out, you know, if
Quinton Johnson can fill in for Mike Williams, and then
the Chiefs, who they've been competitive with, then the Bears,
that's a win. Then the Jets that's win. Then the

(27:49):
Lions that's a win. Like, they got some wins coming up.
So here's what I want, Jay Stu. When they run
off for their next five, you to come back and
go like, you know what, Doug, You're.

Speaker 4 (27:59):
Right, I was wrong.

Speaker 3 (28:00):
I'm as frustrated as anybody how they lost the first
two and could have lost number three. But I would
also tell you that they are far from the laughing
stock of the league, which they are purported to be.
The Broncos are a fucking laughing stock. Hey, they just are.
They're a fucking disaster. And that's the guy that everybody
opined and wanted to be the head coach.

Speaker 4 (28:22):
Who else?

Speaker 2 (28:26):
I think the converse needs to be agreed to too, though,
After four or five weeks, if the Chargers have either
lost the games or won the games.

Speaker 3 (28:34):
No no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no fucking
to tell he won those if they won those games,
but they didn't win by enough for you? What fucking
world do people live in? All these NFL games outside
of the Broncos games, outside of when you know, the
Giants getting blown out, Like eighty five percent of the
games are decided by a touchdown or less, and somewhere

(28:54):
in the seventy percent are decided by a field goal
or less. So if they win the games, they win
the games, and that's what matters.

Speaker 2 (29:03):
But the stipulation was that I was supposed to tell
you that you're right after four or five weeks of wins, correct.
And my thing, my point, you want.

Speaker 3 (29:11):
Them to win by You want them to win by
how many? How many points that we want points. If
they win by by five, it's not enough for you.
If they win by one, it's not enough for you,
But if they win by seven, it is.

Speaker 2 (29:19):
No But you and I both know the difference between
how how a team wins and that they want. We
talked about this with the Eagles this year. I think
that there's a there's a difference. I think that they
won despite him on Sunday. They could easily win the
next four or five despite him. Moving forward, I don't
think that my opinion of Staley's going to change. I'm

(29:41):
just pissed off that.

Speaker 3 (29:43):
You've established in your brain because you fall on social media,
right that that he's.

Speaker 4 (29:51):
Not any good.

Speaker 3 (29:52):
He's not good enough as a coach. Right, Go and
look at the stats from Sunday's game.

Speaker 4 (29:58):
Go look at it.

Speaker 3 (30:00):
They you know, well, their defense is terrible. They held
the Vikings to four or fourteen on third down. I
believe two of those conversions were late in the game, right,
so they were better on third down. They had fewer plays,
but six point one yards per play as opposed to
seven point four yards per play.

Speaker 4 (30:18):
The defense was.

Speaker 3 (30:20):
Far better than it had been. And I'll grant you
the Vikings are a winless team. They've also played three
really close games. You know three games in which they've lost,
and they have a dynamic offense, so like you know,
they had four sacks. I just I gotta tell you,
I've been disappointed with the first two games. Even with that,

(30:40):
like somehow Herbert escapes and what's the name of their coordinator?

Speaker 4 (30:48):
Fuck? What's his name?

Speaker 3 (30:49):
The offensive coordinator came up from the Cowboys. He played
at Poise State. Why am I playing? Yeah, Kellen Moore,
no criticism. They were two of fourteen on third down
in their own right in tennis See. They had the
ball with a chance to win the game the first
two weeks of the season.

Speaker 4 (31:04):
But is Brandon Staley's fault? The defense hasn't been good enough.

Speaker 7 (31:08):
J C.

Speaker 3 (31:09):
Jackson has done them a favor by having an arrest
warrant served. Ha, No, I'm serious, Like that does them
a favor. That gives them a window to get out
of that terrible contract. That's why they're such a highly
paid defense.

Speaker 4 (31:20):
It's that guy. He stinks.

Speaker 2 (31:24):
But that would be great if they can get out
from that.

Speaker 4 (31:27):
Let's let's see what happens. What else?

Speaker 2 (31:29):
No, that's good, We're good. So the Colin Kaepernick letter
bothers you more than the Johnny come Lateley's about Brendon Staley.

Speaker 3 (31:37):
Yeah, the Colin Kaepernick stories like it's old, it's tired,
it's done. It's not really a feasible conversation.

Speaker 4 (31:43):
It's a nice.

Speaker 1 (31:50):
Because we can.

Speaker 2 (31:54):
That. Here's the sound from the aforementioned havevis Kelsey podcast.
It it was absolute like to see the slow motion
chest bumps, to see the high fives with mom, to
see how you know, Chief Kingdom was all excited that
she was there. That shit was absolutely hysterical and it
was It was definitely a game. I'll remember, that's what,
damn sure. And then we just slid off in the

(32:15):
getaway car at the end. Shout out to Taylor for
coming through and see me rock the stage.

Speaker 4 (32:19):
So good, so good.

Speaker 3 (32:22):
I mean, he couldn't handle it any better than how
Kelsey's handled it, right. He didn't make it out like
they've been dating a long time. She just came through,
watched the game went out. It was dope, you know,
laughs about it, jokes about it, and now, hey, if
I'm dating somebody, it's a private thing.

Speaker 4 (32:41):
How why can we play for you? Because we can't. Okay, sir,
the bet is to you.

Speaker 1 (32:48):
It's time for the Pick of the day.

Speaker 3 (32:50):
All right, pick of the day comes to you from
Major League Baseball.

Speaker 4 (32:55):
All right, major League Baseball.

Speaker 3 (32:58):
Lost in all this is that there's still some great
baseball being played, including the Mariners taken on the Astros.
This series is awesome as it's like a must win
for both teams. That's crazy, right, How is there a
must win for both teams?

Speaker 4 (33:15):
Oh? There is.

Speaker 3 (33:16):
You got Framber Valdez going up against Bryce Miller. Bryce
Miller has had a pretty good season. Framber Valdez actually
had a very very good season. I think he's got
one hundred and ninety three strikeouts on the year with
only fifty two walks at three point three to nine ERA,
and that place was filled last night. I liked the
Astros tonight. The Astros lost last night, their favorite tonight,

(33:39):
minus one twenty five. Give me the Astros to win
and the Astros to cover the run. The total is eight.
I like the over in the totals. The balls were
flying out last night in Seattle. Give me the over
and the Astros. That's our pick of the day. All right,
that's it for the end the Bonus Podcast. Check out
the radio show, which if you listened to the pod.
It'll follow this Olthowise check it out at noon eastern
on the west coast. Three excuse me, three eastern on

(34:03):
the east coast. Noon, of course on the west coast.

Speaker 4 (34:06):
