Speaker 1 (00:01):
All right, this is the Doug Gottlieb Show. Here's in
the bonus with Doug Gottlieb.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
What a Doug Gottlieb Show. In the bonus Fox Sports Radio,
iHeartRadio app What a weekend, What an absolute great weekend
in college football.

Speaker 3 (00:27):
I mean, listen, baseball was awesome too.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
You know, you gotta split in LA with the Dodgers
and Padres, you gotta split in Philadelphia with the Mets
and the Phillies. And we'll talk to Aceball up coming. Obviously,
there's a bunch of NFL things, and if you download
the radio show, you heard us talk a ton about
the NFL. But I'm just trying to figure out what's
the most surprising thing. I guess it's Vanderbilt meeting Alabama.

(00:54):
But that's the classic letdown game. You know, they had
a letdown half. They're dominating Georgia, didn't play the same
in the second half, lost the league, came back, won
the game, and then you lose to Band And it
was not a fluke.

Speaker 3 (01:07):
Vanderbilk controlled the game.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
I think what they had the ball forty one was
the thirty one minutes every one minutes for forty eight
minute game.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
Like it was crazy, how.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
Van he just dominated that game, dominated the game. Oh
it's for excuse me, forty one minutes of a of
a sixty minute game.

Speaker 3 (01:26):
That's what it is. Yeah, forty one to seventeen.

Speaker 4 (01:29):
Wow?

Speaker 3 (01:31):
Or I what's that testament too? It's a testament too.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
This is what happens when you lose Nick Saban, not
that he hadn't lost previously, but there was a level
of expectations, a level and ex experience, there was a
standard set and they just wouldn't lose those.

Speaker 3 (01:47):
Types of games.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
It felt like, it doesn't mean Kevin the board is
a he's doing, but it's a different type of coaching
when you're the hunter. When you're the hunt, did every
game and then you have to still maintain a level
of hunger outside of the game. So Bama loses, Tennessee loses,

(02:08):
my moner Oklam.

Speaker 3 (02:09):
The state's falling on some really hard times. Yes, Oli
Gordon got hurt, but they just offensive lines, not moving people.
They didn't move the ball.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
Regards of having Ali not having Holly, and I guess
we can sit here and say parody has a ride,
but we can also say this is one out lour
weekend let's keep an eye on it. By my estimation,
they're still just like in college and second the pros,
there's like ten to twelve good quarterbacks that you can
win with good solid ones. Probably two x of that

(02:40):
is what you have in college football. Skill set a
little bit lower, but you still have two xs of
that in terms of recruits. The problem is that you
got you know, seventy five or some on teams.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Doug Gottlieb
Show weekdays at three pm Eastern noon Pacific on Fox
Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 3 (03:01):
Let's let's get to what the Fox says and now.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
Every day, this time that Doug got lip showing the
modest podcast played for your portion of a previous show
on Fox Sports Radio Fox Sports One.

Speaker 3 (03:11):
Here's Brady Quinn talking about Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 5 (03:14):
When the Jets have lost this season, it hasn't been
because of just awful play by Rogers. That was awful
and you know whatever you want to shock it up to.
He hasn't looked like that the entire season. And now
he's gonna be dealing with the nagging injury and if
he's gonna if that's gonna resurface or that's where this

(03:36):
offense is. It doesn't matter if you get devont Adams,
that's not gonna help this team.

Speaker 4 (03:41):
Like, he's got to play.

Speaker 5 (03:42):
Better at this point, because I think there's a lot
of guys who are getting frustrated. I mean, thank god
they got Garrett Wilson the ball on a series where
they seemed rather with much intent to get him the
ball in every possible capacity. But at some point, you know,
I don't know if it was r Jonas said, somebody's
to hold him accountable the coach does, like this is

(04:04):
one of the differences where I think you've got a
superstar quarterback. There's times where when that superstar is the
guy who's ultimately leading the team and dictating what happens
out there, if he's not aware enough to hold himself accountable,
it messes with the chemistry of the rest of the
team because you know, everyone's watching the film going.

Speaker 4 (04:23):
What the hell was he doing here?

Speaker 3 (04:29):
I think it's a mess.

Speaker 2 (04:30):
I mean, Nathaniel Hackett struggling to get the plays in,
Aaron Rodgers not nearly as good as he used to
be or as good as advertised, and the Jets continue
to be, you know, just be a frustrating team to themselves,
let alone to everybody else. I just I don't know
how you can look at it as any other way.
Then it's just a mess. I always say that's the

(04:52):
Jets mess, mess.

Speaker 3 (04:53):
Mess.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
They're getting worse, not getting better. Here's Dan Patrick talking
about watching college football then watching playoff baseball.

Speaker 6 (05:01):
Vandy beats Alabama. Of course, still shaken. Of course we
saw that one happening. Their quarterback, Vandy's quarterback, Diego Pavilla's
going to join us coming up in an hour from now.
You had Tennessee Michigan missoo. They lost, USC lost as well.
What a wild, wild weekend in college football. And I

(05:23):
don't know if you have this same feeling. There was
playoff baseball. But you get geared up watching football, first
of all college football and then NFL football. But it
takes almost a different mindset to change over and start
watching baseball. It's just the pace of it, the tone
of it is just different. But watching you know, Miami

(05:44):
against Cal late at night, there was you know, it's entertaining.

Speaker 4 (05:50):
It is entertaining.

Speaker 2 (05:52):
Look, I gotta tell you, I had an unbelievable Saturday
I recruited in Norman, Oklahoma. It's kay Brandon Global ran
an amazing event, and all the best junior college teams Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas,
they were all there. Then I actually went up with
my son. We went to We went to b Dubs

(06:15):
and we watched games for a good hour and a half.
Then we went to the oklahom State game, which is
a disaster, but we were in the boxer were watching
other football games, and we went over to my boy
my boy's house, and we watched Major League Baseball watch
the playoffs. And watching the playoffs, as you guys know,
is with the holidays. So you're watching baseball with you know,
a former seven time All Star and a current Major
leaguer and then a couple of Oaklham State baseball coaches

(06:38):
and watching watching that stuff with baseball people is so different, right,
It's like a room full of Glavin's. And then everybody
went to bed, and I stayed up and watched cal Miami.
That's as good as sports day as you could ever have.
And you think about Thursday and how good Thursday was,
and then Saturday was probably better. Yeah, there's controversial calls

(06:58):
at the end of Miami game. But I Miami second
week in row, I thought they were dead and buried
and they came back and won. What a What an
incredible Saturday. Here's Colin Cowhert talking about the Steelers.

Speaker 7 (07:09):
The Steelers offense this morning should be humiliated, should be
completely embarrassed. Their defense picked off a couple of balls,
blocks a kick three times. The Cowboys in the red
zone with Dak Prescott Ceedee Lamp get no points. Michael
Parsons is out, DeMarcus Lawrence is out. You're at home.
It is perfect. The Cowboys are reeling. It's perfect. And

(07:30):
the Pittsburgh offense, the nineteen seventy seven Pittsburgh offense engineered
ninety seven yards atrocious on third down, four yards of
play against the Dallas team without their top Duoe defenders.
Pittsburgh's offensive line shocker, it stinks for years. The only
happy Steelers should be Russell Wilson because at least he'll

(07:53):
eventually get to play. Pittsburgh's offense is the flip phone
of the league. What do they do well?

Speaker 2 (08:04):
They haven't lost games previously. That was that was their thing, right,
that was their thing? Is they haven't lost games previously.
You know, and I've never I haven't been a fan
of what they've done offensively all year. I haven't seen
it with Justin Fields, There's just there. There was nothing

(08:24):
there that I was like, ooh, we're all missing it.
The Bears missed it. He's really good. He was improved
only because he wasn't. They weren't. He wasn't beating himself
and they didn't beat themselves yesterday. But four point nine
yards passed like come on, man, like what.

Speaker 3 (08:40):
Are we doing? What are we actually doing?

Speaker 2 (08:43):
And their inability to create distance between themselves and the
Cowboys allowed the Cowboys after those Dak Prescott interceptions to
still hang around. I just I don't know if Russell
Wilson gets a shot. I don't think it matters because
I don't think Russell Wilson's particularly good.

Speaker 3 (09:02):
It is fascinating.

Speaker 2 (09:03):
How much Pittsford's being able accomplish considering how bad their
offense has been of late.

Speaker 3 (09:07):
That's where the Fox.

Speaker 1 (09:08):
Said, say be sure to catch live editions of The
Doug Gottlieb Show weekdays at three pm Eastern noon Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 2 (09:21):
Let's find out what is annoying, Jason Stewart, and now it's.

Speaker 4 (09:27):
Your annoying, hey, Doug.

Speaker 8 (09:34):
The Dodgers fans vi Padres thing last night was annoying
on many levels. First and foremost, Dodger fans mixed with alcohol,
bad decisions. And because you know that, because you know
that going in, don't funk with them. You know, steer

(09:57):
clear of people. It's not right to throw anything at anybody.
It's not right to it's not right to try to
hurt somebody by throwing a ball or whatever. But how
about this, don't provoke them, don't don't taunt them. I've
never seen an outfielder do what Profar did yesterday. I've

(10:20):
watched a lot of baseball on my time. If you
can imagine this, outfielders from the time they are in
little league are told to show the ball to the
umpire as soon as they catch a ball like that.
I've never seen an outfielder not do that. That's what
they're trained to do. But to think that his first

(10:40):
instinct when he caught that ball was to taunt and
show up the fans and the team probably shows you
how far away from decorum we've gotten in baseball. It
was so unusual, but a lot of it was annoying.
First and foremost. If you don't want drunk idiots to

(11:02):
throw shit at you, then don't provoke them.

Speaker 2 (11:08):
I think that's I think all these things are All
these things are fair. There are a lot of drunk
idiots at baseball games, specifically outfielders at Dodger games, but.

Speaker 3 (11:20):
It was weird that the kind of taunting. Thing.

Speaker 2 (11:23):
Also weird was because the ball was in the outfield stands,
like it wouldn't have been interference. Had they caught the
ball or knocked it down, would have been a home run.

Speaker 8 (11:34):
Correct annoying part number twelve on that one. The fans
could have interfered and had no issues with it. So
that was they give us. They gave us soft landing
to catch the ball, which sucks, and it was Mookie
Bets and don't get me started on what he's been
trying to do, and no, the whole thing sucked. Nfls

(11:58):
for fiver pools are just not for me. In fact,
they suck. Annoying doesn't give it enough credence. So I
don't know if you've been following like the national trends
of survivor pools, but they've been depleted for the first
three weeks of the four weeks of the season. You
have pools that are literally like ten thousand people down

(12:21):
to like ten people after four weeks. It's not supposed
to happen this way. It's just it's a it's been
a fucking massacre and everybody's losing their money. So what
my my league commissioner did was said, because it's been
such a massacre, let's start up a brand new one
this week. Oh cool, Well, thanks man, kind of a
second chance survivor pool, keep giving giving us interest. The

(12:45):
top two teams, the top the two longest spreads. Yesterday
with the forty nine Ers and the Seahawks, they both lost.
When you have teams that are seven point favorites losing games,
it's another yet again. So NFL Survivor pools, you suck.
Predicting anything with the NFL sucks, and stop doing it.

(13:08):
And I'm not gonna spend any more money on your
survivor pool.

Speaker 2 (13:13):
Well, I mean, I think this firepool is kind of awesome.
I just think you're just mad. Yes, you're just mad.

Speaker 4 (13:21):
Hey, I just found this one.

Speaker 8 (13:25):
Stefan Diggs, he kind of had a cool revenge game yesterday.
The Texans came out on the on the winning end.
But information has surfaced this morning, and I don't care
if it's true or not. It's an amazing story that
I have to mention. Stefan Diggs reportedly had an affair

(13:49):
with superstar rapper Cardi B when she was eight months
pregnant with offsets baby and leading to their Tamaw to
Us breakup. So Stefan Diggs has been a cancer in
two NFL walker rooms and a home wrecker.

Speaker 2 (14:11):
Yeah, he's had quite the year. Huh wow Yeah, uh
eight months pregnant too.

Speaker 3 (14:18):
Haven't a fair there. Yeah, I'm not really sure.

Speaker 4 (14:22):
It opens a lot of questions.

Speaker 3 (14:24):
Yeah, there's a lot of questions, a lot of questions.

Speaker 8 (14:29):
Anybody else Stefan Diggs Survivor pools and the entire Dodger
fans v.

Speaker 4 (14:37):
Padres thing last night.

Speaker 2 (14:38):
I think the entire Dodger fan plus there's fights outside.
I know you're a sane and reasonable and huge Dodger
fan and baseball fan. I think there's a higher percentage
of douchebags that are Dodger fans than maybe any other
fan base in baseball. You know, Philadelphia and San Francisco Giants,
would would like to would like to join the chat,

(15:01):
but Dodger Vans chucking things the whole situation.

Speaker 4 (15:09):
Why are we doing this?

Speaker 1 (15:10):
Why because we can?

Speaker 4 (15:16):
All right?

Speaker 8 (15:16):
So, these are two examples of putting college kids on
live TV right after big wins. One is Vandy's Diego Pavia.
He caught up with a reporter right after the Vandy
upset over Alabama. Vandy, we fucking turned. And then cam Ward,

(15:40):
who is the quarterback of the Miami Hurricanes. They barely
escaped their upset bid by what was it col over
the weekend? And this is Cam Warp Sports Center.

Speaker 5 (15:52):
Cam, how did you keep your team believing when you
went down twenty five in the second half on the road?

Speaker 8 (16:01):
I mean, you just gotta keep playing.

Speaker 3 (16:08):
Hey, guys not knowing they're on TV or guys not
caring they're on TV.

Speaker 4 (16:13):
Hard to tell.

Speaker 3 (16:16):
Which do you think it is?

Speaker 4 (16:18):
I don't think they.

Speaker 3 (16:18):
Care, you know, I think so.

Speaker 4 (16:23):
No, it's it's pretty prevalent.

Speaker 8 (16:25):
We saw a lot of a cursing on live TV
this weekend, but hey, different times.

Speaker 3 (16:32):
Why can we play for you? Because we can't. That's
it for the end of the Modus Podcast.

Speaker 2 (16:35):
Check out the radio show every day three to five eastern,
twelve too Pacific, on Fox Sports Trader, the iHeartRadio app.
