Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, this is the Doug gottli Show. Heres in
the bonus with Doug gottlie.
Speaker 2 (00:12):
What the bonus The Doug Gottlieb Show. This is our
podcast only hour. You are going to love it. The
iHeartRadio app. We do this every week and it's super
enjoyable to us who now love college football, but love
guys who dig deep, deep, deep into the numbers and
(00:32):
give us some predictive analysis and some reaction to things
that have been taking place. He is the one and
only Kelly Ford.
Speaker 3 (00:38):
And of course.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
If you follow him on social media, you know that
k Ford Ratings. Kford Ratings dot Com is the website.
It's also the Twitter handle as well, and he has
his Most Deserving, He has his if you know, the
predictive analysis of what the college fall the playoff will be.
(01:02):
He even has the predictions for this weekend's game. So
let's welcome in. Kelly Ford joins us here on the
Doug Gottlieb Show on Fox Sports Radio. Your week six
most Deserving teams for people who haven't been listening through
the first five five weeks in the preseason. When you
join us, what does most deserving actually mean?
Speaker 4 (01:20):
Absolutely? Well, thanks again, for having me, Doug. Most Deserving
is my favorite content that I produce every single week.
You touched on some of the things I'm putting out
there on the website and on X, but Most Deserving
Rankings is my favorite thing. And what I'm doing is
I'm viewing every single college football team's wrecker or schedule
excuse me, through a common lens. So we all know
that schedule difficulty varies greatly whether you're playing in the SEC,
(01:42):
the MAC, or you have liberty schedule, which is the
easiest among any FBS team. But by viewing it through
a common lens, we're able to say, Okay, how much
has this team accomplished against its schedule relative to what
would be expected of a common denominator. And when I
do that, I'm able to normalize every team scale and say, okay,
how impressive is the record that this team has achieved?
(02:03):
And for me, Doug, through six weeks, the most impressive
resume out there right now is BYU They are number
one in my Most Deserving Rankings. Number two is a
team that has a loss. It's Georgia. George is at
number two, ahead of other unbeaten like Miami, Penn State,
Iowa State in the top five and pit number six.
Some people are wondering, Where's Oregon, Where's Texas? Where Ohio?
(02:25):
Where's Ohio State? They are all in the top ten
as well, but given the schedules they've played to date,
those resumes are not quite as impressive as BYU and
those other teams that I mentioned ahead of them.
Speaker 2 (02:35):
Okay, let's get to Texas taking on Oklahoma this weekend.
Speaker 3 (02:39):
What is your predictive analysis say about this game?
Speaker 4 (02:42):
This is an absolutely massive game for both of these teams,
and both of these teams are certainly still in the
SEC race. Oklahoma does already have the conference laws. Everybody's
looking up at Texas A and M who's three to zero?
But for at large purposes this is very important. And
I'll start with Texas because, like you said, they're the
number one team in the Apeople, their number eight and
my most deserving they're my number two power rated team.
(03:03):
I like Texas this weekend with an eighty two percent
win expectancy, so more than a one tour game here.
For me, Texas is really really good on both sides
of the ball. Number two on offense, number four on defense.
Oklahoma is really good on defense, it's the top ten unit.
The big question mark in this game is the Oklahoma
offense that I have right now number sixty seven in
the country. That is by far as the outlier unit
(03:25):
in this game. I think that's the difference here. Of course,
it's at the neutral site at the Cotton Bowl, the
Texas State Fair. Always one of the best college football
games of the season. Really looking forward to this one.
It's got a great watchability score of nine point two
out of ten. But certainly I think Texas has enough
to get it done, and Texas needs it because their
schedule is not as difficult as some others that they're
going to be compared with at the end of the year.
Speaker 3 (03:49):
It's interesting. What's interesting about Texas is.
Speaker 2 (03:53):
There is I don't know the difference in what the
numbers look like for you, but not having Queen yours
next couple weeks, granted you still have a manning he
comes in art has played pretty well, but how much
does it make it difficult to actually know their the
value of their wins, the value of the performances and
predict this weekend considering their starting quarterback missed a couple weeks.
Speaker 4 (04:17):
Yeah, for sure, and you're right, you talk about Quinn yours,
who're coming into the year with a Heisman Trophy candidate
on the cover of the new Colleseball video game. Right,
certainly a household name, but then his backup Manning also
a household dame. Hasn't accomplished a lot at the college
level just yet, but certainly has that five star pedigree
that he came in with. It's less important to me, Doug,
about who was playing quarterback in these past few games,
(04:38):
because when you look at who Texas was playing, they
had a massive talent advantage. UTSA power rated number one
oh one for me, Louisiana Monroe power rated one oh seven.
Mississippi State, even though they're an SEC team, the worst
SDC team by my numbers, tower ated number seventy four.
All of those were at home, So if yours being
out in the last few weeks, it really didn't make
that big of a difference. The fact that you know,
(04:59):
coming back for this one, we expect them to be
playing and playing at a high level. That's really important
because this would have been Arch's most raucous environment that
he's been in against the best competition he would have played,
so I think Texas fans certainly happy that yours is
going to be back, But I'm not sure it really
made that much of a difference these past few weeks,
not because the drop off is anything significant, but because
the level of competition faith was just not that high.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
How much does Alabama's loss to Vanderbilt, How does that
change their likelihood of getting to the playoffs?
Speaker 4 (05:30):
This sounds crazy, It really didn't hurt it that much.
It was a shocking loss because it's Alabama, the Crimson Tide,
and then you're talking about the brand of Vanderbilt, a
team that's never beaten the top five team, let alone
the number one team in the country, right, So it
was very shocking. It put the talkoball landscape upside down.
But at the end of the day, Alabama was probably
(05:50):
unlucky to lose that game. I mean, they played at
a level that you would expect them to win that
more times than not, not just because of the talent discrepancy,
but the actual stats of that game. So Alabama unlucky
to lose. They still have a really difficult schedule, but
this is still a top five tower rated team for me.
So yes, the pass got more narrow I still have
an eighty plus percent chance that Alabama is going to
(06:10):
be in the College Football Playoff. Their chances really to
make it to Atlanta. That's what got hurt worse here
than anything is now you know you're looking up in
the projected SDC standing. I now have Alabama looking up
at not just Texas, but Texas A and m and
Ole Miss as well. So certainly it was a damaging
loss for the race to Atlanta. I still expect Alabama
to be in the College Wall Playoff. They're only an
(06:32):
underdog projected underdog in one game remaining this year, and
that's a toss up game forty eight percent chance to
win on the road at Tennessee next not this week
but next before.
Speaker 2 (06:41):
The season, how many Big twelve teams did you have
in the playoff one and how many do you project
to get in there now?
Speaker 4 (06:49):
I am still only projecting one from the Big twelve.
It would be the champion, which for me right now
is Iowa State. However, Kansas State, you know BYU certainly
in a good place. Kansas State's still projecting well. If
and when caim Rising comes back. Utah is still going
to be in that conversation but I just think the
Big Twelve doug as we talked about before, it's so
deep with really good teams, but it truly lacks that
(07:11):
elite level power rated team And because of that, I
think there's a lot of really good football that's gonna
be played, but it's likely that Big Twelve teams are
going to beat themselves up. Now. BYU and Iowa State
don't play during the regular season, so if you want
to outline a scenario that gets the Big Twelve with
multiple teams in, that's your most straightforward one. Right now,
BYU and Iowa State run the table. They meet in Arlington,
and at that point I think both of them are
(07:32):
in Kansas State though is still probably the best power
rated team maybe outside of Iowa State, and they still
have a path certainly, but it's still right now. Based
on my updated projections, looking like the Big Twelve and
the ACC for that matter, are one big conferences.
Speaker 2 (07:46):
Speaking of the ACC, Miami with two complete escapes the
past two weeks, look, I get it like at the
end of the day where Juey judge on wins and losses,
but how does the fact that they really escaped yet
again against in miracle a miracle fashion.
Speaker 3 (08:02):
How does that affect your predictions from Miami?
Speaker 4 (08:05):
Yeah? Absolutely. This the last two weeks against Virginia Tech
on a Friday night and then at Cal in the
late primetime window. There just incredible comebacks and results for
Miami down the stretch. Now, it did hurt them in
the power ratings. They have been downgraded in my model
over the last two weeks. So looking at these last
two games, they've been downgraded more than three points, more
(08:26):
than a field goal, which is number one hundred and
seventeen out of one hundred and thirty four FBS team.
So certainly the model has not looked kindly on these
close escapes. However, as I talked about earlier, you said
it what matters at the end of the day is
wins and losses. In Miami's getting those wins, albeit not
looking great. So they are number three in my most
Deserving rankings. This week they have fallen into number eight
(08:46):
in my Power ratings. It's still a top five offensive unit,
but it's a defense that has really started to show
areas of concern here. They are now power rated number
thirty eight on that side of the ball. I still
like Miami in every single game they have remaining the
biggest one for them at least right now based on
my number is they're off this week, but next week
they go on the road to Louisville, a Louisville team
(09:06):
that has lost a couple of one score games recently
at Miami's won there. So I do not think that's
going to be an easy game for Miami and it
certainly wanted to keep an eye on not this Saturday,
but next.
Speaker 2 (09:16):
Kelly Ford joining us K four Ratings dot Com is
the website.
Speaker 3 (09:19):
You need to check it out.
Speaker 2 (09:20):
We use it almost exclusively here on Fox Sports Radio,
at least in the Doug Gottlieb Show, because he gives
us instant reaction and some predictive analysis of things to come.
Let's go to Friday night. There's usually a good game
Frida night. You mentioned Utah. They travel to Arizona State
take on Arizona State. How paramount is a win for
(09:41):
the Huts in the Desert?
Speaker 4 (09:44):
Yeah, you saw it certainly in a position and again
Cam Rising, his status remains unknown, but you saw is
a team that's very interesting to me right now and
as we look at them, you know, in the projected
Big twelve standing. They've fallen down in recent weeks because
they've been downgraded in the model. They have that loss
to Arizona. I do like Utah and this one. Even
though they're on the road. It's a sixty three percent
win expectancy. Utah is still a top thirty tower ra
(10:06):
to the team. This defense is still projecting in the
top ten nationally for me, but the offense, especially without
Cam Rising, has not performed up to the level we
expected in the preseason. They're coming in right now at
number sixty six. So I think both defenses are gonna
have the advantage on this Friday night in this game.
But I do expect Utah to be able to do
just enough on the defensive sides flowing down that Sun
(10:27):
Devil offense to get the win. But I am projecting
it to be a one score game. So in many
people's minds, including my own, it's somewhat of a toss up.
Speaker 3 (10:35):
You mentioned Kansas State. They take on Colorado.
Speaker 2 (10:37):
Colorado, who obviously so widely discussed last year, they ended
up with the same number of wins they already have.
Remember this Colorado team in a three game win streak,
beat Colorado State on the road Central Florida on the
road beat Baylor in overtime their turn home after a
week off. Anyway, Colorado sneaks into the playoff as that
large and they get a win this weekend.
Speaker 4 (10:59):
Yeah, right now, now, if they got to win this weekend,
this number is, it's going to go up quite a bit.
Right now, I've got an eight percent chance for Colorado
to be in that at large discussion at the end
of the year. Of course, they are still in the
seated in Big Twelve play. This is going to be
their biggest test, not just to date, but likely of
the season for this Colorado team. My numbers do like
Kansas State ever so slightly. It's a fifty five percent
(11:21):
win expectancy for the wild Cats on the road here
going to Colorado. Both of these scenes in the top
forty of my overall power ratings. The difference here is
Kansas State offense is number eighteen. The Colorado defense, which
has greatly improved from what we've seen in recent years
and Boulders but still not quite good enough I don't
think to be a true contender in the Big Twelve,
(11:41):
comes in at number fifty seven on that side of
the ball, So I think that's the difference here. But
certainly the winner of this game is going to be
feeling very good about their prospects moving forward in their
pursuit of Arlington and the potential CFP at large spot.
The loser of this game, especially if it's Kansas State,
who already has a conference laws grant, it's a BYU
and what was somewhat of a fluky game. If Kanasas
(12:02):
State loses again, I mean, we're cheating on disaster for
a team that thought they were going to be in
Arlington and maybe represent the Big twelve in the playoff,
they would already have two losses just halfway through the year.
So there are a lot of stakes on the line
this weekend in Colorado.
Speaker 3 (12:15):
Where are we on Notre Dame, Notretame.
Speaker 4 (12:18):
I'm where I've ben since we started this whole thing,
thug and a lot of people gave me a lot
of grief for Notre Dame and having them still in
the top ten of the power rading even after they
lost to NIU, and that is an inexplicable loss. I
really don't know what to tell you. It was not good,
but Notre Dame is still power rated in the top ten.
They're number seven for me. The defense is number seven.
The offense hasn't been as good as we thought in
(12:39):
the preseason. We thought maybe this was a top fifteen unit.
Riley Leonard has not been able to throw the ball
as efficiently and effectively as many, including myself thought. The
offense comes in at number thirty six. Of course, they
were off this past week and they're now going into
have Stanford coming to South Bend this weekend. If you
look at their remaining schedule, though, Notre Dame does not
(13:00):
have a single game remaining in which my numbers make
them an underdog. And there's only one game, Doug, that's
the final game of the year at USC they have
to go to La and play the Trojan fifty eight
percent winning secancy. That's the only one that my numbers
currently project to be a one score game. So Notre
Dame I do think they need to win out to
really feel good about making the CFC. I would argue,
because the Notre Dame brand, they probably have a chance
(13:22):
at ten and two, but eleven and one would be
a certainty for me, and I've got a thirty two
percent chance that the Irish get to that total.
Speaker 3 (13:29):
Oh man. I can't tell how much I appreciate you. Kelly.
Speaker 2 (13:31):
You are the absolute best kfoot ratings dot Com. There's
a website, there's the x handle as well. Check it out.
Speaker 3 (13:38):
It's great information and it just kind of.
Speaker 2 (13:41):
Furthers discussion and gives you a look at what it
looks like once, you know, we get to the college
football playoff.
Speaker 4 (13:47):
Thanks Kelly, absolutely, Doug, I really appreciate it. Thanks for
having me on as all way.
Speaker 1 (13:51):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Doug Gottlieb
Show weekdays at three pm Eastern noon Pacific on Fox
Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 2 (14:01):
Let's find out who were What is annoying? Jason Stewart.
Speaker 1 (14:07):
And now it's your annoying?
Speaker 2 (14:14):
Hey, Jace, I just want you to know that Colin Garon,
I think it's Garon. Colin Garon texted me and actually
he messaged me on Instagram at Gottlieb Show and he said,
I listened to the podcast every day and when I
don't have time, I fast forward to What's annoying. Just
curious if Jason saw Freddy Freeman's response to Manny Machado's play,
(14:39):
Please let Jason know his annoyance and bitterness brings me
joy every single day. So one, I thought you'd appreciate that.
Two did you see the response? Did you see Freddy
Freeman's response?
Speaker 5 (14:50):
I did so. I'm sorry, what's the name of this person?
Speaker 3 (14:53):
On?
Speaker 5 (14:54):
Colin Colin, Colin, thanks for listening. You're a valuable asset
to this to the show. I saw Freddy Freeman and
I was deflated because, as we discussed yesterday, there was
a lot of confusion about the interference call or lack
of interference call. Dave robertson't come out even when we
had Matt Holliday on today. He's like, I'm not even
(15:14):
sure what the rule is. We have two Hall of
Famers or would be Hall of Famers, A Rod and Jeter,
saying I've never seen that not called interference. So there's
a whole lot of shit around it. Again, if the
broadcast had a rules person like they do in the NFL,
we know the exact rule, but as of today, there
is so confusing if it is or isn't a rule.
(15:36):
And Freddie Freeman after the game on was It Tuesday Night,
he kind of let Mandya off the hook because I
was calling him a bush League player because he is.
He's a bad guy. He's a nasty player, and I
thought that was a bush league play, but Freddy said
I would have done the same thing. He let him
off the hook. It's very deflating. It's disappointing, but it's
(15:58):
also the re in a bowl take like Freddie Freeman's
a good guy. So I did see that, but it
kind of goes into one of the things I'm annoyed
about today. I'm glad that we got that tweet. That's
a great jump off point. Okay, so I don't know
if you've been tracking this, but there is a reliever
on the Padres who used to live in Los Angeles.
(16:22):
He grew up in Los Angeles. He's a Hispanic gentleman.
His name is I'm gonna get this right here, Estrata.
He comes in as a middle reliever. He throws gas.
He's real impressive, and he's also a very articulate former
Los Angeles resident who grew up a Dodgers fan, so
(16:44):
he has a unique perspective on what happened in Game two.
He's a Dodger fan who went to Dodger games his
entire life, and as he says, his community. He's very
aware of his community, in other words, the Latino American
community in Los Angeles, and how passionate Dodger fans could
be the one thing. And he spoke to the media
(17:07):
for like twenty minutes about about the fans and how
much he loves the Dodger fans and the competing and
all this set and then he said this, but if
I was the Commissioner of Baseball, I wouldn't have Game
five at Dodger Stadium, which, like I said, this is
a very articulate kid, and I really like him. He
actually is very well spoken on everything. But if I'm
(17:30):
the commissioner, I don't have Game five at Dodger Stadium.
My issue since Game two when the Padres kicked the
Dodgers ass rubbed it on our face. Profar did that
whole fake I didn't rob the home run thing. There
were things throwing on the field. My whole issue since then,
Dodger fans acted like imbeciles, drunk imbeciles. And that's news
(17:54):
to nobody who knows this area. But the Padre is not.
One person from their manager turned down has been like,
you know what, I think we kind of played a
role in this. You know, maybe we shouldn't taunt people
that are drunk idiots. You know, I grew up before
i'd moved out to the suburbs. I lived in Los
Angeles proper, and there were always homeless lunatics walking around
(18:19):
my neighborhood. I know that I'm not supposed to go
up and provoke this homeless lunatic because he might be
violent towards me. So the Padres were taunting and rubbing
it in. You see videos of Tatis Junior holding his
ball sack towards fans like there was just like egregious
lack of sportsmanship on each side, and not one Padre
(18:43):
has come forward and said, you know what, maybe we
shouldn't taunt those guys. Maybe we had a role in
what we did.
Speaker 3 (18:52):
Yeah, I just.
Speaker 2 (18:55):
I I said yesterday, and I believe it that the
padre is this is for most of them. It's not
stepping out of character, right. This is who Tatis is,
this is who Machado is, this is who Profar is.
Speaker 3 (19:08):
Like, that's who they are.
Speaker 2 (19:10):
And for a long time in baseball, I think people
are aware, but we don't talk about it, especially national radio.
Speaker 3 (19:18):
Nobody talks about uh, Nobody talks about.
Speaker 2 (19:21):
Baseball, right, Like, we're I really I walked away from
yesterday's show in yesterday's pod truly proud of the fact
that one Matt wanted to text me you want to come.
Speaker 3 (19:30):
On because he follows you on Twitter.
Speaker 2 (19:33):
But we like, we'll talk about it and it's a
really interesting, fun discussion, right, We're like, all because I
do think that.
Speaker 3 (19:42):
I get it.
Speaker 2 (19:42):
Like, those numbers pale in comparison to the NFL, but
it's we're talking Major League Baseball playoffs, and if it's
Dodgers Yankees, those will get big numbers. Like those are
those I don't know if the Yankees will do it,
but those will get big numbers.
Speaker 3 (19:54):
Anyway. We can't always react to the numbers.
Speaker 2 (19:56):
Sometimes it's just what's important in sports and maybe what's
important to us.
Speaker 3 (20:00):
So that's first thing.
Speaker 2 (20:02):
But for people who haven't been paying attention, some of
it is an age gap. Most of it is a
cultural gap, right, and most of the American born players
are guys that they try and set the culture of
playing what's quote unquote the right way, right, And it's
(20:22):
like there's the unwritten rules of baseball and this has
gone back for years.
Speaker 3 (20:27):
Obviously, and it's always been the younger generation.
Speaker 2 (20:29):
But like, look, the Latino and South American style of
baseball is a lot more flamboyant, a lot more in
your face. It's frankly, it's like we have this in
basketball as well, and it's not in basketball.
Speaker 3 (20:44):
People think it's black white. It's not it, but it is.
Speaker 2 (20:48):
You know, basketball at its court is a street game.
But if you play it like it's streetball, like more
often than not, it ends up being one on one fest.
Speaker 3 (20:57):
It's not how the best basketball is played. So there's
a little bit of culture war in bat basketball.
Speaker 2 (21:00):
And the Europeans have come in and played it quote
unquote the right way and with screening and shooting, and
they're able to overcome a lack of athleticism and compete
against the far more athletic and many times American players.
Speaker 3 (21:16):
In baseball.
Speaker 2 (21:17):
This culture war has been going on, especially for the
last ten or fifteen years, with the dominance talent wise
of many of the Dominican players, of the Latino players
as well, and South American players, and to a certain extent,
some of the American born players who are younger, you know,
(21:37):
in terms of how they purport themselves pimping home runs,
bat flips, how you react when you strike a guy out,
even how you talk to your manager, your umpire, your teammate. Right,
there's just a different set of values and style, and
I think you're seeing it instead of a lot of
times this happens internally within a team, right, the older
(21:59):
guy the checks and balances, and they get the younger
guys to play the right way, and sometimes they step
out of line. They handle the code red inside. This
is two different teams, and the cultural war is between
those two teams. I think it's actually fascinating if you
really get into it.
Speaker 3 (22:16):
I don't know if other people were as interested in it.
Speaker 2 (22:18):
I certainly am, and frankly, I love the fact that
the Dodgers, who many of us thought are actually under manned,
especially in pitching staff, came out and kicked the crap
out of the padres last night.
Speaker 3 (22:32):
And now I'm.
Speaker 2 (22:32):
Fascinated to see what happens in game five. What do
you think of the idea of the kind of culture
war going on between the two teams.
Speaker 5 (22:40):
I think you've summed it up perfectly. And I'm obviously
on the old school side. Who has my sensibilities offended?
By things that current players are doing. I need to
reconcile that with myself to enjoy the game more because
I get pissed off. Well I'm watching games because there
are things being done in games now that would have
(23:00):
never flown. I mean, Nolan Ryan is probably the perfect
example of this. No one Ryan would not put up
with anything that any modern player does. You would have
you would have a ball between your numbers if you
did any of that. And that's kind of where I
come from. And so yeah, I need to reconcile that
with me, with myself. But you're right. And the Dodgers,
(23:21):
I think maybe because it's the makeup of the team
or they're you know, they're they're frankly paid more. I
don't know if they're more experienced, but they, like I
said a tweet out last night, they just they diabolically,
methodically dominated that game last night and there was no
pimping involved. It was just we put our head down
and we kicked your ass. And the Padres did the
(23:43):
exact opposite in game two, and I you know, I
prefer last night. I prefer that the point the Dodgers
did it. But you're right, there's a culture war I
just don't know if it's it's better for the game
or worse or I think you're alienating people my age,
And I don't know if you want to do that,
But I don't know. I don't know what to do
with it.
Speaker 1 (24:02):
But I don't either, But I think it's be sure
to catch live editions of The Doug Gottlieb Show weekdays
at three pm Eastern noon Pacific on Fox Sports Radio
and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 3 (24:15):
Who else or what else is annoying you?
Speaker 5 (24:16):
Let's talk about things that are getting old. Bob Costas
is getting old? If maybe if Sam well, he's not
doing anything right now? Could google this? How old is
Bob cost Us?
Speaker 3 (24:26):
Oh? I actually know this? You do you have any answers?
Is it a truer question?
Speaker 2 (24:30):
Because I did a I do an event every year
where we honor people, and he honored.
Speaker 3 (24:37):
He was one who honored Ricky Henderson. He's seventy two
years old.
Speaker 5 (24:41):
Which is which is amazing because he looks, you know,
he looks forty two. But his age has begun to
show in the last couple of years, and then last
last night. And I think it's a combination of Yankee
fans and whatever. But he's getting torched on Twitter, like
and you know, I I see him getting torched on Twitter,
(25:01):
and it kind of hurts. It hurts my heart a
little bit. I've always loved Bob Costs, and I always
think that he's been like the the prototype broadcaster in
my lifetime, like flawless, and he's got great opinions, and
I never disagree with his opinions. But then I saw
a couple of the highlights from last night and it
is sad. So here here's a couple examples. The first
(25:23):
one being a just a gentle line drive up the
middle that was caught by the shortstop. But if you
hear Bob costas you hear something else.
Speaker 6 (25:33):
Line drive base hit the center field. It was smothered
out there. I don't know if it was caught, it
was caught. Oh my gosh, what a play. It's a
good thing that what sought before I did. He slapped
out the brakes and went back.
Speaker 5 (25:47):
So that was a gentle line drive that was caught
by the Yankee shortstop, completely miscalled. So obviously he's having
some some site difficulties. And then this is another one.
Aaron Judge hits a hits a ball that didn't even
get to the warning track and left field. Left field
has a short porch, so it didn't even get to
(26:08):
the warning track and left field. But if you hear
Bob Costas, you thought it was something else.
Speaker 6 (26:12):
Ongoing postseason struggles. Here's a drive to deep left field,
doesn't happen off it does not at the edge of
the track.
Speaker 1 (26:20):
Melendez takes it.
Speaker 5 (26:22):
So he's definitely lost the edge off the fastball, and
he's not seeing things too well, and people just aren't putting,
aren't having it. Twitter hates Bob Costas and I'm starting
to see why and it saddens me. That's why this
is annoying. It's annoying to me.
Speaker 2 (26:37):
Well, there's a there's a bunch of different levels to it.
One it is it is said because I don't know
if people understand how amazing and broadcaster, amazing and broadcaster
Bob Costas has been. But remember it ended with Sunday
Night football because of his stance against frankly against football.
(27:01):
And then there's some other what was deeing political stuff
in terms of guns, which I actually think he made
a point which it continued to be valid today. And
then this is how they view him. You know, it's
like if you hang on too long, it is I'll
tell you what it's like. Okay, And Bob cost is
far more of a gentleman than Bob Knight. But there's
a generation of people who have no idea that Bob
(27:23):
Knight was an incredible coach. All they saw was he
was a disastrous a broadcaster and he appeared to be
surly and angry all the time. Now, you can be
surly and angry as a as a coach, but he
was also charming, charming and quite engaging. And the point
of it is, we all need real friends who tell us,
tap us on the shoulder and say it's time.
Speaker 3 (27:44):
And I kind of think Bob might actually need that.
What else?
Speaker 5 (27:50):
And that's annoying? Yeah, okay, so I need like a
second to way this out. So I think you would agree.
We've talked on this podcast about this. Lebron James I
think fancies himself a social injustice warrior. I think he's
never backed down from taking a political stance. He often
(28:13):
gets involved in social issues. You could argue that when
he does get involved, it's clumsy and he comes off
as looking like a moron. But he's never backed away
from that, and he'll talk about politics on the shop.
So I'm coming at it from that angle that he
has welcomed this, and he puts himself out there politically,
(28:35):
and he is a famous public figure. So I don't
know if you saw this. He went on Twitter and
he says and he writes this, this is yesterday. Can
someone please explain to me why we're getting on a
plane and heading to Milwaukee for one preseason game? Multiple
question marks and exclamation points. So immediately this was met
(28:58):
with TWEETSAZ, Yeah, hundreds of people are dying in Florida
and hurricane and people are dying, They're out of their homes,
they don't have water, they don't have electricity. But you're
complaining about getting on a private plane and going to
Minnesota or for one day or Milwaukee for one day.
(29:20):
It's like, how out of touch can you be sending
this tweet on this day given the climate in our country?
And again I agree with that, because if you're going
to put yourself out there as being very in touch
socially and then you send a tweet out like this,
that's a rich guy who doesn't want to get on
(29:41):
a private plane for a short period of time. You
really do look out of touch.
Speaker 2 (29:48):
No doubt, no doubt.
Speaker 3 (29:52):
I just you know, the PG thing is so lame.
Speaker 2 (29:56):
What you know, It's like I've flown on private jets before,
tweeting about them, ig about them.
Speaker 3 (30:03):
You know, it's it's what is it real?
Speaker 2 (30:06):
G's moving silence like neighbors and Sleigh, who any any others?
Speaker 7 (30:12):
No?
Speaker 5 (30:12):
So uh Lebron And it's annoying that Bob Costas has
lost his edge and the Padres that take zero accountability
in what happened in game two.
Speaker 2 (30:25):
Uh, it's easy to say Lebron, but he's won it before.
Speaker 3 (30:28):
I like the Padres.
Speaker 2 (30:29):
I like the Padres taking zero accountability that that Padres.
Speaker 5 (30:38):
Why are we doing this.
Speaker 1 (30:43):
Because we can?
Speaker 5 (30:45):
Oh man, this is great. Patrick Beverly is the gift
that Ghip keeps on giving this segment. So I think
he's still playing in Israel if I'm not mistaken, he is.
But he was reacting on his podcast as Barstool pok
House too. I guess Ben Simmons has been going on
to social media and posting his workouts, and Patrick Beverly
(31:08):
really doesn't want to see.
Speaker 1 (31:09):
That Ben Simmons coming out with some new workout tapes,
Ben Simmons.
Speaker 7 (31:13):
Ain't nobody trying to hear that ship. Ain't nobody trying
to hear that ship. I ain't trying to hear that ship.
I'm over here and I ain't trying to hear that ship.
I ain't trying to hear that ship. No, you got
to show us, buddy, and you got to show us
at least sixty something gangs, but we ain't on that.
I ain't trying to hear that ship. I think, no
more talking, no videos on the court. I need to
(31:34):
see it.
Speaker 5 (31:36):
I think Doug something he needs to clarify because he
didn't make clear.
Speaker 3 (31:41):
He didn't want to see that ship.
Speaker 5 (31:42):
I think, does he want to hear that ship?
Speaker 7 (31:44):
Nobody trying to hear that ship, but pretty clear that
ship ain't nobody.
Speaker 3 (31:51):
I don't want to do that shit either, because I.
Speaker 7 (31:53):
Ain't trying to hear that ship.
Speaker 3 (31:54):
That's it for the end of the b this podcast.
Speaker 2 (31:56):
