Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, this is the Doug Gottlieb Show. Heres in
the Bonus with Doug gottli.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
What Up Doug Gottlieb Show. In the Bonus Fox Sports Radio,
I Heart Radio app. Welcome in Today. We're live in Indianapolis, Indiana.
As you guys know, I'm the head basketball coach at
Wisconsin Green Bay and tonight we have our first conference game,
commerce game against i UI. You're like, what is that?
(00:34):
Do you guys remember a school called i U p
U I or OUI PUI. Jason, you remember? Who? Have you?
Have you ever heard of i U p U I
Indiana University, Perdue University, Indianapolis. Okay, it's an actual university
where it's like the it was the satellite campus for
IU and Purdue. Okay, they're both about an hour from
(00:56):
Indianapolis and they combined together and they have a campus
in Indianapolis. You've heard of it, Sam, Yes, Okay, Perdue
apparently pulled out of the deal. Okay, now it's Indiana University, Indianapolis.
Speaker 3 (01:08):
I needed some clarification on that.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
There you go. Now there's your clarification. I'm gonna be
completely honest with you. I didn't know until media day
they flew us in for a Horizon League and I
was like, where are we doing the Horizon League media day.
They're like, it's at the Indianapolis Coliseum where actually the
(01:30):
Pacers used to play way back in the day in
the ABA. And then I was like, well who plays here?
They're like, well, Iui plays here. I was like who.
They're like, I Ui used to be i U p Ui.
They changed their name, yeah, when I still haven't. I
think it was last year, maybe it was two years ago,
but yeah, it's now Iui. So we played them tonight.
OUI poo He has been a good program. Now it's
(01:52):
OUI no longer pooey, And maybe that should be there.
I think that's a really good motto. Actually, going to
suggest that to their coach after the game, like, look,
you know a lot of people call you guys. You
just to call you guys Ouey pooey. Now you're no
longer pooey. He's in his first year. He's a really
good Division two coach. Actually at Indianapolis University. Apparently there's
another school in Indianapolis called Indianapolis University. This is Indianapolis
(02:16):
University in Indiana, or this is actually Indiana University y at Indianapolis,
different schools, very confusing, nonetheless, first conference game Horizon Lely
conference game. So guess what we did for shoot around? Yes? Anybody, okay,
I'll tell you. Okay, So IUI plays there on campus.
(02:39):
Gym is called the Jungle, and it's small and they
actually have classes in there, they have other stuff in there.
So the only times we could get in were eight
to nine am too early, one to two pm too late.
So I called Donor McCaffrey, who used to play at Iowa.
(03:02):
His brother Patrick is the star player at Butler now
and Connor's now on staff at Butler, and I was like, Hey,
could we use your practice gym? Sure, no problem. We
ended up using hinkle Fieldhouse, which you know, everybody remembers it.
It's the home of Hoosiers and it's been Redone probably
about ten years ago. Is Redone. It's amazing. But the
(03:23):
interesting parallel to me is everyone remembers when Butler went
to back to back national championship games. Correct, Okay, quick
quiz what league was Butler in when they went to
back to back national championship games? Sammy ah Man? The
(03:45):
Horizon League?
Speaker 3 (03:46):
What are they now?
Speaker 2 (03:48):
Now they're in the Big East. They went from the
Horizon League to the Atlantic Ten to the Big East.
So interestingly, you know, it's our first Horizon League game.
We got to practice in the arena for the most
storied Horizon League school ever, not the one we play
at in the same city, but obviously at Butler anyway,
(04:11):
so it kind of starts, this is really our season
kind of begins. I mean, look, I'm not gonna we
wanted to win. I'm disappointed in the outcome of all
of the losses, but what really matters is from this
point forward, and so it's kind of like a refresh,
kind of like a renewal, renaissance, if you will, and
(04:31):
we take on the Jaguars of IUI. We're no longer
pooey oh.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Doug Gottlieb
Show weekdays at three pm Eastern noon Pacific on Fox
Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
App Let's get to what the Fox says and now
at any of this time with The Doug Gottlieb Show.
In the Bonus Podcast, you played for your portion of
a previous show on Fox Sports Radio or Fox Sports One.
This was on the Herd yesterday, Tom Brady had this
(05:06):
take about Aziz al Shaer's hit on Trevor Lawrence.
Speaker 4 (05:10):
There's mixed emotions that I have about it as well.
Speaker 5 (05:12):
The only aspect that I think is very challenging, and
certainly for Trevor Lawrence.
Speaker 4 (05:17):
Nobody wants to see anybody get hurt.
Speaker 5 (05:19):
But it is also the reality of a very physical
sport that we play.
Speaker 4 (05:22):
Defensive players have to be aggressive.
Speaker 5 (05:25):
There's an aspect to me that I think the quarterbacks
and the certainly the quarterbacks need to take better care
of themselves. And at the same time, when you run,
you put yourself in a lot of danger.
Speaker 4 (05:35):
And when you do that, I don't.
Speaker 5 (05:37):
Think the onus of protecting an offensive quarterback who's running
should be on a defensive player. I don't think that's
really fair to the defense. So if you slide and
it's everyone can argue was it black and white or.
Speaker 4 (05:50):
Was it just a gray area?
Speaker 5 (05:51):
Do you slide late or is it unnecessary roughness or
is it a late hit. There's more design runs for
quarterbacks ever now than in the history of the NFL,
So are we really trying to protect quarterbacks?
Speaker 4 (06:04):
Because if you are trying to do it through the rules.
Speaker 5 (06:06):
Then why are the offensive coordinators not protecting their quarterbacks
by keeping them under the pocket and not designing as
many quarterback runs, so you know, maybe they find or
penalize a quarterback for sliding late, you know, and say, look,
if we don't want these hits to take place, we've
got to penalize the offense and the defense.
Speaker 2 (06:31):
I understand what he's saying. The problem with it is
the guy came in with his forearm, guy came in
head hunting. Let's kind of not let's not kid ourselves, right,
And it's a really weird stance for Brady to take.
I get it. He sounds like a football guy and
he's saying matter of factly, but you know, this is
the same guy who constantly worked the officials for penalties
(06:55):
when he was a quarterback and he was a statue
back there. But there is a reality too, Hey man,
it's hard to protect you once you run. That's the
old Cam Newton's argument was I should be protected more,
and they're like, no, that's not how it works. Here's
Dan Patrick talking about Miami and the college football playoff.
Speaker 6 (07:11):
Miami's upset. You know what, Miami, you got upset. That's
why you shouldn't be upset. You lost two of three
once again. You can handle your future. I would say,
control your own destiny, but you can't do that. But
you could win. If you beat Syracuse, then we're not
in this position. You lost to Syracuse, okay. You lost
(07:34):
to Georgia Tech okay, and you lose to Syracuse.
Speaker 1 (07:40):
Win the game.
Speaker 7 (07:40):
Yes, Syracuse is good.
Speaker 2 (07:42):
Win the game.
Speaker 6 (07:44):
I mean Old Miss loses to Florida. Florida, of course,
started to play a whole lot better. I mean South
Carolina might be playing as good as anybody right now.
It's not fair, I know that, but it's not meant
to be fair about entertainment. It's getting brands in there, unfortunately,
But I like that Ye have Boise State in there,
(08:05):
Arizona State's in there, SMU's in there.
Speaker 7 (08:08):
It's a lot of fun.
Speaker 2 (08:12):
Oh I I don't know, it's a lot of fun.
I agree Miami shouldn't be in there, but I don't
understand SMUs ranking, Boise States ranking the over evaluation of
the Big ten. I agree on Miami, like Miami was
playing with fire half the season anyway, So the fact
that they got burned shouldn't be a surprise to anybody
(08:33):
who anybody who's honest and watched them all season long.
Here's Dan Patt, Here's Covino and Rich talking about the
golden at bat idea in baseball.
Speaker 8 (08:45):
I am all about the idea of changing rules and
strategies to make it more fun for the fans. I
heard your thoughts about it, and I heard other people's
thoughts about it. They sort of opened my mind up
to it.
Speaker 3 (08:58):
A little bit more. You know who's mad, your grandpappy?
Speaker 1 (09:02):
It was when Mickey Mantle played.
Speaker 2 (09:04):
And made move and who cares what.
Speaker 1 (09:06):
They're dying soon?
Speaker 8 (09:07):
Baseball needs to step things up to make things more interesting.
Speaker 3 (09:11):
But is this a little absurd?
Speaker 8 (09:12):
And I'll tell you a little like basket ball, Like,
come on, it sounds dumb. Look who's selling out the
Savannah bananas. People love spectacles. So if this happens, what
would the signal be for the golden bat? Would they
have many golden bat The manager has to come out
of the dug out like it's Willie Wanka be like
I got the golden gold hit your Aaron Boone on
the top step of the dugout dancing around.
Speaker 7 (09:34):
With this You have to put the Gene Wilder top hat. Yes,
and then.
Speaker 1 (09:37):
He goes Aaron Judge Brucey sounds.
Speaker 8 (09:40):
Fun, but it sounds like a circus. It sounds dumb.
I think it's amazing, and I have a counter to.
Speaker 7 (09:44):
This, all right, So it's the counter.
Speaker 8 (09:45):
The defense has one skip. It's not an intentional walk
like you're playing Uno or something. It's a baseball carried away. Now,
this is where it gets corny, like the greatest idea.
Speaker 2 (09:57):
I love it.
Speaker 7 (09:58):
I so badly want to do that.
Speaker 8 (09:59):
I want to implem us in my softball league.
Speaker 2 (10:09):
How is it a great idea in baseball? Like? What
what are we? What are we doing? You know? This
is it's it's not even giving like let's give him
an extra strike. You can call up a player to
hit any time you want. Like, this is not Rock
and Jock baseball. And I mean your Grandpapy's not mad.
(10:35):
People who are baseball people are like that doesn't make sense.
We're not doing that. It's just it's not worth like
yelling and screaming because it's a It's an idea. I
heard you out, just like any other ideas meeting. And
we're gonna go with no like the idea this is
a no ideas or bad ideas meeting. That's an idea.
(10:57):
I don't think it's close to being a good one
for real baseball. For softball, yeah, by all means, but
softball is also sport where men's softball leagues you can
literally have a keg at second base. Okay, you can
have a keg at second base. Guy's bellies are the
biggest part of their bodies. I've played a don't like softball.
(11:21):
It's a miserable existence because you have a good portion
of guys who are in their glory days trying to
really live. You know, I was a high school baseball
shortstop for a state champion, and other people are like, yeah,
I just kind of want to hang out and kind
of impress this girl. And you know, between the people
who take it way too seriously or the people like
me who don't care, it's just an odd mix. But
(11:42):
that's a great place for a goal in that bat rule.
You know, Hey, you got a basis loaded. Let's bring
up Jimmy. Jimmy's been on steroids for years, right. He's
a weightlifter and home run keg in our softball league.
He's also got three felonies and six kids with four
different women. All that stuff is right, but in real baseball,
we don't do that. We don't do that. That's what
(12:02):
the Fox said.
Speaker 1 (12:06):
Say. Be sure to catch live editions of The Doug
Gottlieb Show weekdays at three pm Eastern noon Pacific on
Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 2 (12:17):
Let's find out who are what is annoying? Jason Stewart.
Speaker 1 (12:22):
And now it's your annoying, Hey, Doug.
Speaker 7 (12:30):
The Golden at Bat? Did I think what Rob Manfred
wanted yesterday? A lot of people talking about it. If
you send it out as a trial balloon to get
opinions from people that mattered, I think it worked. It
was a topic on our show. It was a topic
on the show after ours that you just heard. And
(12:52):
what does a Fox say? Michael Kay took to his
radio airwaves and blasted is how he rose his So
this is Michael Kay taking how he rose to task.
Howie is anti Golden at Bat?
Speaker 2 (13:10):
Is it perfect?
Speaker 9 (13:11):
No?
Speaker 2 (13:12):
Would I sign off on it?
Speaker 3 (13:13):
Probably wouldn't.
Speaker 9 (13:14):
But imagine the outcry because a guy is trying to
do something to juice a game that needs to be
juiced and all the people that say this is like sacrilege,
guess what we got you. It's the young players, the
young people. We don't have them. So we have to
turn the ninth in he into an event where your
best player is going up against the closure. And you
(13:35):
see no value in that because nothing can change in baseball,
because it's not a sport, it's a religion. You all
have to get your heads out of your butts to
jump a guy for trying to make a legitimate change
or thinking about a legitimate change, even a guy I
love how he rose.
Speaker 3 (13:51):
This has got to be a joke.
Speaker 9 (13:52):
No, the loss of baseball, eyeballs, that's a joke, Howie.
There's got to be something that stops it. It's got
to be something that's stopped. It's the erosion of this
great game. You've got to make it appeal to more people,
younger people. Those are the people we do not have.
And you're gonna crucify Rob Manford because he's thinking outside
the box. You all have to grow up and you
all have to open your eyes and see what's happening.
Speaker 2 (14:13):
With the game. Wow, there's Michael Kay angry.
Speaker 7 (14:17):
There's like two or three flaws with his reasoning.
Speaker 2 (14:20):
There's a lot of flaws with it, but go ahead.
Speaker 7 (14:22):
I would say that maybe the most annoying part about
this is it reminds me of progressives. The term progressive
onto itself is arrogant. You're telling me that you need
change and that change is progress, I e. Progressive.
Speaker 2 (14:44):
Change is no no, no, no, that's no. You're progress
and change are not are not one and the same.
Speaker 7 (14:54):
That's what it was.
Speaker 2 (14:56):
Yeah, but again progressive again your I do I agree
with you that you that people weaponize the term progressive
to mean change. Yes, okay, but in a in a
pure sense that if you want to talk about the
progressive movement is supposed to be about progressing, inching forward,
(15:16):
moving forward, not backwards. And to that I don't think
anyone can really really argue. Now again, what direction you're in,
like moving forward? I agree with you what you're saying,
but I don't agree with how you're saying it correct
Because here's what I believe you're saying. You're saying, is
people progress, some progressives, not all. Some progressives will say, hey,
(15:41):
we need to change, that's progress. No, progress is not
necessarily change. Progress is progress, you know, making gains is
making gains. So that part I think we agree on.
I just would disagree that you think progressives believe that
change is no, it's it's a lot like people that
that claim to be Republicans, but they don't actually stand
for Republican values. You know. That's the part that I
(16:05):
would I would disagree with as well. Right, So it's
the here's an example, hey, is you'll have Republicans say
we need smaller government. Right, that's Republican ideas smaller government,
and yet when Republicans have been in office, they've actually
had a larger they've expanded the government. Right, that's the
opposite of what their core values are. So I agree
with you if you believe and I think, and I
(16:28):
think because I believe you're right that a good portion
of progressives believes that change is progress. It is not
progress is progress? Change is change? Is that fair?
Speaker 7 (16:37):
I think that's that's the exact point I was making.
Speaker 2 (16:40):
Yeah, change, Well, you were saying that progressives think that
changes progress, and I don't believe that. I believe there
are some that use the word progressive when they really
mean change, and that's not those two things are not
the same.
Speaker 7 (16:52):
Oh okay, well, then I agree I disagree with that
last part. I do think that the platform of a progressive,
the progress a part of the Democratic Party is they
need they want change. They want to change things because
if they wanted to keep things the same, that would
be consistent with conservative. But Michael Ka's point is that
(17:12):
let's try something because obviously nothing is working. Correct, And
that to me is outrageous, like an idea like this,
and Michael Ka points out, we already have you. We're
trying to get a younger audience at what at what
expense if you lose me, if you need to get
(17:33):
to take a chance on getting the twenty something who
may never like the game to begin with and will
never like the game?
Speaker 2 (17:40):
What you are? You are one hundred correct? That that
the and this is this is like the NASCAR thing. Okay,
this is what happened in NASCAR. NASCAR was so desperate
to reach outside of the core audience of NASCAR fans
that they expanded, right, NHL, same thing, right, NHL was
so popular the Northeast, so popular in Canada, they went
(18:02):
to Arizona, they expanded into Atlanta. How did those work
out for them? Disasters and then what ends up happening
the bigger thing is your core audience becomes prey. Now, hockey,
I think has really recovered nicely into their kind of
niche of sticking their Their core audience is very, very happy.
But those numbers are not going to grow exponentially. It's
(18:25):
a successful business model. It's just that's the business model.
And what you're saying is one hundred percent accurate. And
what Michael Kay is missing, which is, in this effort
to get back the younger viewers, you run the risk
of alienating the old time baseball folks. And look, the
reality of it is that the sport was not just
(18:48):
boring at the top level. The sport is forever boring
at the youth level. And that's where the change needs
to happen, right, That's where they need to figure out
ways to make the sport quicker, to make more action packed,
to make them more exciting. Because everyone this is no
different than soccer. Soccer has the same thing. Most kids
play baseball and soccer as their first sports, and then
(19:11):
they grow up. Right, that's that's like the old uh
that's the old uh Bob Knight expression. Everybody plays soccer
and then they grew up. You know, he's he would
say the same thing about writers most people, right, and
then they grow up. So I think that's the part
that you need to tackle, and we're tackling the wrong issue, correct.
Speaker 7 (19:30):
I just don't know any reasonable person who thinks that
the golden a bat is a good idea.
Speaker 2 (19:34):
But it's a it's a terrible I've.
Speaker 7 (19:36):
Heard I've heard opinions otherwise.
Speaker 2 (19:38):
And we just it's so wait for people. So that is,
at any point in time in the game, you could
have your best hitter come up and hit. Is that
that's the idea of the golden bat?
Speaker 7 (19:49):
At any time of the game, you could put your
best hitter into the lineup for one at bat?
Speaker 2 (19:54):
Yep, right, right, well, and you get once a game. Yeah,
it's a terrible idea. What's the point of a batting order?
What's the point of everything? You like, what's the point
of all these different things? Terrible idea.
Speaker 7 (20:09):
It just is it's so funny.
Speaker 2 (20:11):
It's it's so bad. Now. It's the type of thing
that I could understand if somebody brainstormed it right, when
a brainstorm in such like, Hey, have you guys ever
heard this idea of the gold net bat? What is it?
Speaker 6 (20:24):
Now?
Speaker 2 (20:24):
You can use your best hit or whenever you want,
and people flash it out and you're like, yeah, I
just it doesn't work for us. It takes away the
core of what baseball is about. Okay, and so the
proper answer for Manfred should have been, you know, the
golden net bat was somebody did bring it up in
a meeting, and we just thought as cool as an
idea as it is, it just doesn't fit with the
core of what baseball is about. But we encourage more
(20:48):
and more ideas like that's a better way of handling it.
Speaker 7 (20:51):
No, correct, there's no such thing as a dumb idea
of meeting. Yes, you just don't do you don't do
this on it as a public trial balloon because you
look foolish. I think you look stupid.
Speaker 2 (21:03):
Yes, you look a little desperate too.
Speaker 7 (21:06):
Yes, and somebody who kind of looks stupid too. And
maybe you disagree with this, but I don't know if
you saw this, But Jahn Morant's not gonna dunk anymore.
And our listeners are thinking, what, yeah, he said this
out loud. I'm not trying to dunk at all. You
all think I'm lying. I'm dead serious. Sometimes I get
knocked out in the air and a foul doesn't get called.
(21:27):
Now I'm out longer than I'm supposed to be and
didn't get the foul called. I still hit the floor.
Blah blah blah blah blah. All right, So the NBA's
ratings were down. I think Adam Silver said it was
election year and he's not too worried about it. There's
that viral video going around that I sent to you
offline of the Lakers and Sons going about I don't
(21:51):
know what eight possessions of just shooting threes and missing threes.
Shaq came out and said that that that three point
shooting style is boring. Blah blah blah. Jean Morant saying
publicly that he's no longer gonna dunk bad idea. That's annoying.
(22:12):
Maybe you can do it and not say it out loud.
Do you really want to give NBA fans another reason
not to watch your sport? Or how about this, do
you really want to give casual sports fans a reason
not to watch the NBA?
Speaker 2 (22:28):
No, not even a little bit.
Speaker 8 (22:31):
No.
Speaker 2 (22:33):
And John Morant is an exciting player because of his finishing,
because of his athleticism, and then his size and ability
to finish. Yeah, I don't. It's one thing for a
league to not know why it's popular. It's a whole
other thing for a player to not know why they're popular.
That part's crazy.
Speaker 3 (22:53):
I have a question.
Speaker 10 (22:54):
What about if he has like a breakaway dunk where
he's like the only guy running up the floor. He's
so fast and you've seen him just get up the
floor so fast, nobody behind him. He won't He'll just
lay it up at that point.
Speaker 2 (23:06):
Personal policy, I guess, or just going in and do
the layup dunk where you drop it in dropping the bucket. Look,
I'm just gonna tell you. I think the idea that
that play style is the reason people aren't watching the
NBA is stupid. This is dumb, you know. Go back
and watch I love eighties, nineties, early two thousand NBA.
(23:27):
The regular season games. There were equal number of bad
shots and bad possessions and not great basketball like that
hasn't changed. The difference is that it's on TV all
the time. There's nothing special about a TV game. And
this is a real thing with the NFL. The NFL
is smart now they're getting a little greedy with the
(23:47):
overseas games, but generally Thursday, Sunday Monday. Right, Thursday, Sunday, Monday, Thursday,
Sunday Monday. What night is an NBA game on all
the time, all the time. It feels like there's never
a night when there's not an NBA game, and so
there's nothing special about it at all. Period. Baseball, same way,
(24:10):
college basketball, same way. You know, college football has expanded
to Friday nights. I know there's mactionin or whatever, but
very few people watch that one just degenerates watch that stuff.
College football is generally Friday nights, but mostly all day Saturday.
And what happens is when you're on all the time,
just there's a devaluation of it. I think that's really
(24:32):
as simple as it gets.
Speaker 7 (24:33):
A case in point. You know what, last night was
the final night before the NBA Cup starts, teams jockeying
to make the NBA Cup, and nobody cared. Nobody cared,
there was no buzz, there was no urgency.
Speaker 2 (24:51):
Well, the other thing that screws up is you don't
know what when they're gonna when your team is gonna
play over the next couple of weeks. Right, no idea,
there's a a good stretch there where games weren't scheduled,
you know, so the.
Speaker 7 (25:06):
I don't know what was what got less buzz last night?
And I want I was sammed away in on this
because you know he's very invested in women's basketball. What
got less buzz last night the fact that it was
the final night to make the NBA Cup in the
NBA or Juju Watkins makes nine threes, breaks a record
and scores forty points and nobody cares.
Speaker 3 (25:29):
I had no idea about either, To be honest.
Speaker 7 (25:32):
That proves my point. I guess Kitlin Clark was the
only reason we cared about women's college basketball. I heard
you talk about the SEC yesterday, Doug, and this came
to mind. I don't know if you saw that Wayne
Kiffin tweet. You just kind of went off on the
(25:53):
ACC and took the college Football Playoff commissioners or whoever
decides things to task and just talked about, you know,
SEC just has a better schedule, better teams, and you
making the same kind of point when you talk about
why Alabama should be in and maybe Indiana shouldn't and whatnot.
(26:14):
This is my question to you, and I'm gonna go
back to a political analogy. Yes, I watched too much politics.
Kind of the anti trumpers will never give Trump credit.
In other words, I don't ever see an anti Trumper
being like, you know what, that policy of his worked
and that was good. I give him credit. They'll always
(26:34):
just kind of stay with their brand. I'm anti Trump
and everything he does sucks. Would anything that the SEC
does this postseason change your mind, Doug, because you've once
said to us that the most disarming sentence in the
English languages. I was wrong, right, Yeah, if the SEC
doesn't make the semi finals, like has zero teams in
(26:55):
the semis and loses bad in the playoffs or whatever,
is that going to be enough to be like, you
know what, maybe I did overvalue this thing. Or is
the SEC just kind of permanently the superior Conference? End
of story?
Speaker 2 (27:10):
I mean, obviously they could fall on their face. I
think that it's interesting because you look at the SEC
teams and Georgia and Alabama, they have their quarterback back
from last year, and usually that means that they're pretty
good and you're going to remain as such. And I think,
(27:33):
you know, neither of them are looking like they're a
top pick. So the point is that if there's a
time which SEC teams can be had, it's usually when
they don't have quality quarterback play and they just can't
move the ball and you can figure out a way
to create turnovers and they're extremely limited. But yeah, I mean,
I guess if you I think the strength of the
conference is in just the overall depth of talent, the
(27:56):
overall depth of teams. They may not have a great
super team, but you know, the overall talent at Texas, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Ole,
Miss LSU, it's just better than everybody else because they
have it's a different salary cap, different salary cap. But yeah,
of course if they completely fall on their face, fall flat,
(28:18):
why wouldn't you point that out? Now? The biggest issue
I would have with the current standings is or the
current bracket is, like we're really going to have SEC
teams have to play an additional game, especially if you
know what happens if Georgia wins this weekend right, only
one of those teams gets a top four seed. So
(28:38):
that would mean Texas has to play an additional game.
Granted it would be at home, but you got to
play an additional game. That's a lot of football games
and you're gonna wear down. And yeah, they have greater
depth than everybody else, but I don't think they should
have to extend that depth to this extent.
Speaker 7 (28:54):
So Michael K. Big Raw, Manfred Fanmorant's done dunking, and
SEC defenders who seemingly don't come off of their stance.
Speaker 2 (29:07):
Uh, I'm gonna go Michael Kay just because Michael Kay
is it's the it's the right idea. It's the no,
not the right idea, it's the right approach. Generally is like, hey, look,
we gotta we gotta get better. We got to keep
trying to find different ways to get more people, more
eyes on the sport. But to one get angry and
(29:29):
two to lock arms around this particular idea I think
looks really foolish and honestly annoying.
Speaker 1 (29:42):
Why are we doing this because we can?
Speaker 7 (29:49):
I'm not sure anyone knows about this, but Gavin Newsom,
the governor of California, does a podcast with Marshawn Wench.
No idea. How that came to be? Why that came
to be? I'm sure it has something to do with,
I don't know, trying to reach a certain demographic. I
don't know, I don't know what to do is I'm thankful.
(30:12):
It sounds utterly ridiculous and I haven't listened to it,
but there wasn't a very entertaining exchange This week. Mark
Cuban is the guests, and Mark Cuban is talking about
I guess a product that he's put money into that's
a generic viagra.
Speaker 11 (30:30):
This is what I tell all my friends, right, I'm like,
it costs you for a big bag of M and ms.
It costs you about ten bucks and you can put
them in a bowl next to your bed or wherever
you can get ninety generic Sialis or generic viagra for
nine dollars and ninety cents plus shipping and handling, you know.
Speaker 2 (30:48):
And beat them, breaks off some shit.
Speaker 11 (30:52):
That's exactly what I was thinking.
Speaker 2 (30:57):
Shit down, you see me jumping off the ceiling light.
Speaker 6 (31:05):
Shy Mark to be young and single, Mark to be youngest.
Speaker 2 (31:13):
I'll just mouth that action.
Speaker 6 (31:15):
Mom.
Speaker 2 (31:16):
I had no idea, zero idea that those two had
a podcast, nor would I necessarily want to listen to it,
but I had. I'm still my mind is blown.
Speaker 10 (31:28):
Do you think that'll ever reflect poorly on Gavin Newsom
as he ramps up for a presidential run in the next.
Speaker 3 (31:35):
Forty eight years. No for eight years?
Speaker 2 (31:38):
No, no, okay no. For whatever reason, Marshall Lynch just
gets a pass on everything, Like Terrible d u I
in Vegas. Nobody cares. Nobody cares. So I mean Gavin Newsom.
To people who don't like him, they hate him. It
may soften some of them. To people who like him,
(32:00):
I like him more. I don't think it changed anything.
Why can we play it for you? Because we can't.
All Right, that's it for the end the Morning's Podcast.
