(00:26):
of America, Doug Gotleave Show, Fox Sports Radio. I hope
you're having a splendid day. What a night we had
last night in the NBA. What an amazing night. I mean, really,
when you get around to it, you had an Eastern
Conference Finals Game one decided by a block where bam

(00:48):
Adebaio's hand was actually inside the cylinder, So if it
wasn't a dunk, if it was simply finger rolled or
you know, shot at the basket, it would have been
a goal ten crazy um. And then of course we
had what what I would deem one of the all
time not just great upsets and comeback. It's one thing

(01:12):
to be to take down the Clippers, who were many
people's favorites to reach the NBA Finals and win a
NBA championship like that's that's one part of it, But
there's a there's another part to it where you're down
three games to one. There's another part to it where
you're down three games one in the second straight series.

(01:33):
But wait, wait, wait, wait wait, there's more. They trailed
in all of these games, right, and they had a
furious comeback. Uh, down two at the half, up eight
at the end of the third, and you end up
winning by fifteen points. But again, more to it than that,

(01:54):
right too. It's one thing to outscore the Clippers five
d two? Uh was it a thirty three fifty to
thirty three in the second half? He's like, okay, so
they outscored they came from behind. Go back to game six,
They outscored the Clippers in the second half, sixty four,

(02:14):
sixty four to thirty five. Wait wait, wait, there's there's more.
Go back to game five. You're like, wait again, Yes,
game five, they outscored the Clippers in the second half. Hey,
sixty seven to forty nine. Like it was all about
the second half? Sood The team came from behind in

(02:38):
the last two series, down three games to one, came
from behind each of the last three games and blew
the blew the Clippers out of the water. They just
I mean, the the whole thing, that the whole story
is nothing short of remarkable. This was Kawhi Leonard on

(03:00):
how they can improve next season. I just gotta build.
There's some chemistry, gotta get smarter, really piece up the
team together. You now, we were close. Uh you know
day was great. We show ourselves in the fifth. The
last three games, the last three games are pretty much
a meter that's coming in and you know, now able
to score the ball in the third or the fourth quarter,

(03:22):
and now tonight were just a mirror, you know, and
you know those are things that you know, you gotta
learning grow from. Gotta learn, gotta grow from now. In fairness,
the super teams, it's hard. The first year, it just
is like go back and look at some of these
super teams. Even once Lebron James has been on, whether

(03:44):
it was Miami first year was when he didn't play well.
They lost to the Miami Heat. They lost to the
Dallas Mavericks in the finals. You go to Cleveland the
first year in the NBA Finals and lost to the
Golden State Warriors. Some super teams that are put together
never people forget the last or shack and Kobe. That
wasn't their first year together, and they had in fact
executed a three peet, but that was they added Gary Payton,

(04:07):
added Karl Malone, and that was supposed to be their
super team. Reworked roster. But the idea that everything just
works together swimmingly, even Lebron last year came to Lakers
and it was an epic and abject disaster. Right if
we don't hold well, let's not hold Lebron to the
standard of Lebron of getting to the NBA finals. They
did not get to the playoffs. So again, I'm I'm

(04:32):
not gonna sit here and go we haven't seen this before.
We have, and I can I'm okay putting the blame
at least partially at the feet of Kawhi Leonard, who
faded badly in the fourth quarter in all three of
these games and could not make a shot, looked exhausted,

(04:54):
didn't play well down the stretch last night. I'm okay.
So we're okay. Like these things do happen, I tweeted
out earlier today. You know Nick Wright is doing a
victory lab because he kep called it like, look, we
saw Lebron the two thousand and seventeen NBA Finals, and
and what happens in two thousand seventeen NBA Finals because
the Warriors had won seventy three games the year before

(05:15):
and they had lost to the Calves and added Kevin Durant. Everybody,
well that that's unfair, Like, okay, each team had three
perennial All Stars. And then I guess the differences that
the Warriors had Draymond Green as opposed to Tristan Thompson
and Kevin Love. The shine wore off the star. But

(05:36):
I mean Kevin Loved before the trade to the Calves
was seen as arguably the best power forward in the
n b A two thousand seventeen NBA Finals, Lebron James
shot seventy from the floor in the first half, he
shot the third quarter, and thirty six in the in
the fourth quarter. Happens. Guys get tired, they try and

(05:56):
carry their team. They trying to do too much that
they're not in perfect condition. And I would say that
if you look at the Clippers, it's never just one thing.
Was it chemistry? Sure, but part of the chemistry issues
is the makeup of the team, right. You know, they
they never had a point guard. They wanted Darren Carlinson.

(06:18):
They couldn't get Darren Carlson, so they settled on Patrick
Beverley as their starting point guard. They tried to fix
it with Reggie Jackson, you know, and and have him
when they had some injuries mid season. That's not great
for Reggie Jackson has never been good for anybody's chemistry ever.
You know, whichever Morris they have, Do they have Marcus Morris?

(06:39):
I think they have Marcus Moore's right, they have the Morris.
And everybody says that the Morris that you wanted. Hey,
here's a little here's a little note. He hasn't ever
won anything in the NBA. Yes, he scored a bunch
of points with the Knicks this year. Noticed the Knicks
fired everybody involved with the basketball team because they were
so bad they didn't win. I don't care how many
points you school or if everybody gets fired because you

(07:02):
don't win games and build their chemistry, hurt their chemistry,
and then like look, put some of the blame at
the feet of kauaiet Leonard, who is solid, is a
tremendous player, but he is not the verbal and vocal leader.
He is not Lebron in that. So who is Paul George,

(07:23):
who's in his own head because of quarantine and the
issues that he he told everybody he was dealing with.
And then you have Doc who We've seen this before.
We've seen the Boston Celtics uh physical apart when they
trade away Kendrick Perkins. We've seen the Clippers lose up

(07:45):
three games to one a couple of years ago when
he had a litany of talented players that couldn't find
a way to get along. Chemistry does matter, Cohesion does matter,
confidence doesn't matter. And you know what else matters, conditioning.
Adders Clippers were retired basketball team. And whether it's because
they weren't practicing all the time or practicing all the

(08:06):
time together or whatever happened, this is sports, like it's
the beauty of sports is what happened last night. The
beauty of sports is that it's a forty eight minute game.
You may be leading at halftime, you may be leading
in the third quarter. That doesn't we play four quarters
of basketball. You may be leading up three games to one,

(08:27):
you still have to win that fourth game. They don't
just hand you the trophy and say close enough. This
isn't you playing golf? With your buddy and you go
you're good good, you like you're like twelve feet out.
You know what, I don't want to see you three
three put and throw your club and say drop a
bunch of f bombs. So let's just call it good
and go on to the next hole. These things happen.

(08:50):
The best team or the best collection of talent doesn't
always win. We talked about it yesterday. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
can't just put names down on a piece of paper
and go like, hey, all these guys and Tom Brady,
they're gonna win. There's another team. There's chemistry, there's tied
to work together, and they never figured it out. Something
was wrong, something was amiss. Maybe there'll be a book,

(09:12):
maybe they'll be a reality show, maybe to be a podcast.
Maybe there'll just be something that somebody says on my
show about what really happened. But for whatever it is,
the Clippers in the last three second, second halfs got
absolutely blown out of the water. So that's what happens.

(09:32):
That that that's sports, that's life. That's what makes it
so great because it doesn't work to where you just go, oh, Clippers, Lakers,
let's have met in the finals. Don't work that way,
doesn't work that way. Something was wrong, something was amiss.
Enough of the players said we got some chemistry issues

(09:52):
to where you start to believe, you know what, they're right,
and then you watch the product on the floor, which
there's a little bit of finger pointing, bad body language,
more fatigue than there should be, and you end up
getting beaten by why I think all accounts would be
an inferior team even if they played some superior basketball
in the second half of all the last three games.
Coming up next, Big ten Football is back. I will

(10:15):
tell you the real reason it's back. Up. Coming next,
be sure to catch the live edition of The Doug
Gottlieb Show weekdays at three pm Easter noon Pacific on
Fox Sports Radio and the I Heart Radio ah app.
Doug Gottlieb Show Fox Sports Radio. Got a lot to
get today, man, good stuff, good stuff, good stuff. Ton

(10:37):
to get to Um. Damon Jones gonna join us NBA
champion twelve year NBA vet give us what he saw
as the turning point, turning points in those three games.
Because I just did the easy numbers to one seventeen
an average of sixty to thirty nine. That was what
the Nuggets outscored the Clippers in the last three I

(11:00):
can have after trilling three games to one. The big
news of the day in college football is that the
Big Ten is going to be back at the end
of October. Here's their commissioner Kevin Warren talking about the
decision to bring back college football in late October. This
is a fluid situation, and we always wanted to make
sure that we put the health and safety of our
student athletes at the forefront of all our decisions. And

(11:20):
this is also a situation that we need to adapt.
I mean, the world that we live in today, we
need to be able to adapt. It's important that you
are in a perpetual process of gathering information, analyzing information,
setting high standards, and also looking at each other to
say that we now have met those standards for our

(11:41):
student athletes to participate. And that's why this is a
happy day for us in the Big Ten. Yeah. Look,
there's this, there's this ultra sinister view we have of everything.
I've identified the problem in so many different places, right,
they're many people, myself included that when you watch something

(12:03):
an interaction between a white person and a black person,
we have a tendency. We have a tendency to always
fall to the default of there must must racism must
be involved. Now that's not me denying that racism could
be involved, but we've gotten to this place to where
any time there's an interaction between a white person a

(12:23):
black person, racism is involved. We've also gotten into this
thing where anytime somebody makes a decision for an organization,
especially for student athletes and university, money must be the
driving force. Has to be. It has to be. Don't
get me wrong. College ball programs playing is better than

(12:46):
them not playing. They will be able to recruit some
of their losses. But also keep in mind, they're going
to still lose millions of dollars. Right if you're playing
in empty stadiums, when you're carrying a debt service on
the stadiums, when there's more testing than there's ever been.
You know, when you everybody still lose, they're still losing money. Well,

(13:10):
you know you're doing it about money. Like money is
a factor, but one, it's not always a sinister factor.
In two, it's not always the driving factor. It's pretty simple.
Doctors and scientists warned the schools and the presidents of
the possibility of myocarditis, and the studies that they found,

(13:34):
although they had not been flushed out, so a high
percentage of of of overweight uh COVID patients suffering from myocarditis,
some even dying from it. That was the report. Now
they got more time to go in and really discover
it and try and figure out what's the validity to it,
what are the numbers actually mean. In the meantime, they

(13:57):
were patient, they took their time. On one side, you
have Christine Brennan, who writes for USA Today, this is
the darkest hour of the Big Ten because they're like
the sec that gave in to money right. Then on
the other side you have coaches, parents, players protesting for

(14:22):
their kids rights to play. And then in the middle
is the truth. Of course, the Big Ten wants to play.
Presidents are not only academics. Presidents are people that like
to trust science. Presidents are people that have to act
with great caution because all it takes is one kid
to get sick and die, and not only do they
not have their job anymore, they don't have any job

(14:44):
because they were the ones that okayed them playing. They
were the ones The buck does in fact stop there
that's the way it works, and if the buck stops there,
you always operate with extreme caution. It is possible that
they have the best interest of these kids at heart.

(15:07):
It is possible. Of it's it's comical the sinister way
in which we read every story. Every story is not
some cover up, Every story does not have some sinister details.
Sometimes it just is what it is. And in this case,
it's a virus that we hadn't seen in a time

(15:28):
in which there really isn't um any precursor for we're
learning as we go, and the Big Ten when they
felt like we get daily testing and it not bleed
us out financially, let's do it. Let's do it. So
I just think they got new information. Be sure to

(15:51):
catch the live edition of The Doug gott Leap Show
weekdays at three p m. Easter noon Pacific. Let's welcome
in Damon Jones, of course, an NBA champion, He joined
us in the Doug Otlip Show on Fox Sports Radio. Um,
I read the raw stats right. In the last three
second halves between the Nuggets and the Clippers, the Nuggets

(16:11):
outscored him to one seventeen. That's an average of sixty
thirty nine. Did the clip? What? What? Why did the
Clippers get worn down? Was there a change in what
the Nuggets did defensively? What happened? I think it was
it was two fold, Doug. I think number one, I
don't really think that. Uh, after the way that they

(16:36):
got to the three one lead, they kind of left
their you know, emotions down. They took their foot off
the gas pedal and thought they were just gonna coast
to that fourth win. And because of it, you found
a hungry Denver Nuggets team who had done the same
thing the prior series, just wanted it more. And when

(16:57):
you get into a game seventh situation and you wanted
more than the other team, then you know, you get
a result like you got last night with a lopsided
Game seven victory for the Nuggets. What do you think
the chemistry issues that have been pointed out by several
Clippers actually boiled down to well, you know, when you

(17:20):
lose a game like that and lose a series the
way that they did, you know, there's so much roy
emotion after the game, and and you know, you put
a mic in front of players faces and they say
some things, and I think, you know, for most of
those guys, they probably wish they had a little bit
more time to say what they said, because you know,

(17:41):
at the end of the day, you know, they went
through the situation that everybody had to go through, and
that was the pandemic and going down to the bubble
and things of that nature. But you know, they knew
coming into the season that you know, Kauhi Leonard wasn't
going to practice a lot. Uh, he was gonna do
it load management like he had been doing it previous seasons.

(18:01):
Paul George came off of injury, so uh, they just
had to do the best that they can. But at
the end of the day, you still had enough talent
and enough wherewithal with that coaching staff to to be
able to get the job done. Being up three one
Damon Jones, John has Son The Doug Gotlip Show on
Fox Sports Radio, Kauai had had climbed to other worldly

(18:23):
heights in terms of how he was viewed based upon
the shot he made to beat the six years last year,
the performance in the NBA Finals, and of course he
had a previous finals m v P. What what does
this do to how players like yourself view Kawhi Leonard,
I mean, it's tough because you thought that going into

(18:44):
a Game seven situation, a guy like Kauai, who's not
a big uh talker, a big raw, raw guy, that
he was gonna bring the effort on both ends of
the floor, that would you know, spark the other guys
to follow suit and to not be able to do it.
You know, last night in the Game seven, I think

(19:06):
it you know, it diminishes a little bit some of
what he's done, But at the end of the day,
you can't take away being a two time champion in
the two times final m v p um uh. I mean,
I look, everybody likes to talk about because he's such
a good passer and they run everything through him. But
Jamal Murray with forty the previous series, he was unbelievable.

(19:28):
Did you know he had to send him? I mean,
I think glimpses glimpses of it last year, but put
it all together, for as long as he's done, Uh,
this playoff has been remarkable and he's definitely moved up
my list far as top guards in the NBA, and uh,

(19:49):
you know, it's it's a good thing for the Denver Nuggets.
I know we've we've been talking about at nauseum what
the Clippers didn't do or how they google lead or whatever.
But you know that Denver Nuggets team was resilient, not
only in the Utah series, but last night as well.
Damon Jones, johnnys Got Live show on Fox Sports Radio.

(20:10):
You ever seen a game lost when somebody went in
for a dunk and it got blocked with a rim
protector's hand actually inside the rim blocking a dunk. I've
never seen that before. I've never seen that before. I
thought the greatest block in NBA history was Lebron James
on is a Dollar in Game seven of the NBA
Finals in two thousand sixteen. But uh, that block last night,

(20:33):
I mean wow. I mean you talk about sheer strength
and sheer will on Bama out of values part two. Um,
you know, keep the lead for the Miami Heat and
you know get them that that Game one victory. Um,
Damon Jones joining us. Okay, So what about that series?
How do you think it plays out? Man, Doug, I'm

(20:55):
gonna say I can't even I don't even know. I
know it's gonna be a loan series. Both teams are
well coached. Uh, they played great defense and they have
guys that can put the ball in the basket. So, uh,
there's no click cut favorite in the series. And I
think it's gonna be a back and forth series. I

(21:16):
probably have to give probably give the ads to Miami
because folks has you know, been there and done it before.
He has two championship rings with the Heat and uh,
I think Jimmy Butler is on the mission. Okay, So
I mean do we hand the trophy to Lebron? Is
that what this comes down to? I mean the Lakers

(21:36):
look super focused. They're the best that you know that
in Miami, are the best defensive teams. The differences. They
have Lebron and they have Anthony Davis, Like it feels
like it's the Lakers, It's the Lakers and everybody else
right now. Well, you know what I thought the Clippers
were was gonna win the West, and you know that

(21:57):
prediction was way off. So UM, I love Lebron and
and A d and the Lakers team where they are. Um,
I think they're going to continue to be focused. When
when you're led by Lebron James, You're gonna be focused.
You're gonna be locked in every single practice, everything, every

(22:18):
single film session, every single game, So I like their chance.
Damon Jones joins us on The Doug Gotlip Show on
Fox Sports Radio. Do you think Steve Nash works in Brooklyn?
I hope so, because I like Steve and I think
he's a great guy outside of basketball. He's done a

(22:40):
lot of great things as a player. Um, and I hope.
I hope what he's done as a player translate to
him being a great coach as well. If you were
going to fix the Clippers, what would you do? Wow?
If I was gonna fix the Clippers, I probably would,

(23:02):
uh man, I think I would just be tougher, be
tougher on those guys. Um. You know, I understand, you know,
the load management and stuff like that, but you know,
we have to be able to work habits, and we
got to be able to, you know, work out system

(23:23):
and do different things that when we get into situations
like this series that you know, we're built for it.
We're built to get through it. We're built too when
there's adverse situations, we're able to uh come out on top.
I don't I don't do any coaching changes or none
of that stuff. I just think, you know, we have

(23:45):
to put a more emphasis on taking a regular season
in every step very serious. Next year, Yeah, you can't.
You can't just hit the hit the button and all
of a sudden, Okay, now we're gonna have a great comistry.
Now we're gonna play together, Now we're gonna focus, and
now we're gonna be a championship caliber team. It just
doesn't work that way, no, I doubt. And you have
to you have to take every step and you have

(24:07):
to approach it with professionalism and all seriousness and all business.
And that's something that Lebron James and and the Lakers
have done throughout the regular season. You know, I know
they had some ups and downs, but you know since
being in the bubble, they've been all business and they've
been locked in. Yeah. Jimmy Butler too, as you pointed out,

(24:28):
I mean he just focused. They I've been told, Nuggets
in Miami combined have like five people in their traveling parties. Um,
and they not know wives, girlfriends, parents, you know, Like
Michael Porter Jr's Dad's like the only one who's there.
Everybody else like, look, we're here together to win this thing.
And the proof seems to be in the pudding. Well,

(24:50):
I mean you know when you come when you come
to a situation like the Bubble, which the NBA has
done a phenomenal job uh putting that on. I've heard
so many great things from so many different players and
staff members on how the Bubble has been. You're going
down there to work and at the end of the day,
you want to come out of there the last team standing,

(25:12):
and that's what's important. And for the people that take
it that way, man, you know they've been successful. Damon,
great stuff. Man, Thanks for joining us. Enjoy the hoops.
We'll talk to you really really soon. Yes, sir, thanks
for having me on the pleasures all mind. Damon Jones
joining this Dug Gotlip show here Fox Sports Radio. Um,
this is from Peter Vessey. Tell me DCR Rivers isn't

(25:35):
the most overrated coach of all time. Two thousand three
Blue A three one lead, two thousand nine Blue three
two lead, two thousand ten Blue three to lead, two
thousand twelve three two lead, two thousand fifteen three to one,
Blue A three to one lead. Those are the Clippers,
obviously against the Rockets. Two thousand sixteen Blue two games
and un lead, and uh two thousand twenty blew a
three games to one lead for the third time. Um,

(25:59):
I don't know, mean the year, the two thousand fifteen
year they beat the Spurs in an unbelievable series. I
think it's seven games series. I could contextualize stuff all
I want. I I don't remember Doc ever having far
and away the best team. We thought on paper, this

(26:20):
was the most well rounded team. And I think losing
to the Nuggets in the way in which say, look,
I don't I don't care about losing the three games
to one series lead. If you attack it the right way.
If you're the Nuggets, you're like, we don't have to win.
We can't win three games. Once you had win one
then went to and nowll of a sudden the pressures
on them, which is exactly what happened. Is there something

(26:42):
to it? Yeah? Yeah, Um but I don't think they
were terribly coached. I thought I thought they were flawed
in in several ways, mostly in composition. They knew they
needed a point guard that didn't have one. That's why
they wanted Darren Carlson. Patrick Beverley is great when he
comes off the bench. I just don't think you're gonna

(27:02):
start and win a championship with Patrick Beverley. Doesn't mean
he won't play, doesn't mean he still can't be your
heart and soul. I just you know, and look, if
you're gonna have Kauai is your best player, you better
have the right type of vocal leadership. And then they
just kind of kept adding pieces during the year, right,
like adding Morris and adding Reggie Jackson, Like why are
you adding guys? You know, why, why are you? Why

(27:27):
are you adding guys? And they had some flaws, you know,
Um what, Lou Williams can't guard anybody. Louiams is not
a starting caliber player. That's why he's been a six man.
He just is, you know. And you you look around
that roster and some of the guys that had previously
been playing stopped playing because changes were made, and that

(27:52):
changes your chemistry. Coming up next, Ben Roethlisberger played football

our very favorite Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger said he feels
better than ever after playing in his first full game
in almost a full calendar year. Big news, you are
fake news, so he said. I said today, I feel
like I was just in a car accident. Yesterday I

(28:59):
felt like I was in a train wreck, he said
earlier today. Hopefully tomorrow it will feel only like I
fell off a bike. Yeah. He also said his arm,

all Right, speaking of colorful characters, Tampa Bay Buccaneers head
coach Bruce Arians told reporters today he doesn't care what
other people think when asked about his public criticism of
his new quarterback Tom Brady. Real news or fake news

sounds like real news and they're spectacular. All right, let's
hear it from the man himself. We're gonna lose we

was not Bruce Arians. That was Frank Caliendo, impersonating Bruce Arians.
Here's the real Bruce Arians. I think there seems to

a quarterback. But it seems like Tom Brady is a

(30:05):
guy that can handle tough coaching too. Yeah, we have
Tom and I are fine, So I don't really care
what other people think. So it's just what he and
I think. And uh, you know, we we left the stadium,
find we show up today, find so I haint nothing
to talk about. We're gonna lose. We booze baby. I
like Kellando's Arians better than Arians Arians. I agree. I

(30:26):
agree that good point. Maybe you can just run them
out for press conferences, all right, Chicago Bears receiver Alan Robinson,
in the final year of his contract, told reporters today
he expects to remain with the Bears through the end
of the season. Real news or fake news sounds like
real news, and they're spectacular three for three, you are,

(30:48):
he said, yeah, I would say so. I've talked to
general manager Ryan Pace, I've talked to head coach Matt Neeggie.
As far as everything else, we're in the clear. With
that unquote, which is specific and vague with at the
same time. Uh yeah, I mean, I just don't understand
the aggrandizing of taking off all of the Bears stuff

(31:10):
off your social media site. Right. Yeah, that's pretty That's
a pretty dramatic and time intensive step. I mean that
takes longer than like two or three minutes. Not just that,
but you're doing it for show. You're doing it to
make a show of yourself. There's which there's no reason
to do unless you're mad and you're acting. You're acting
like a child. I really think it's childish. On to

(31:35):
the National Basketball Association. After the Clippers lost last night,
Portland's Trailblazer star c J McCollum tweeted the following about
the upset quote. No surprise here. Nuggets are legit. Uh
that's not what he tweeted, I don't think I don't
oh four for four, among many other things, including Cancoon references.

(31:59):
I am shocked. I thought there was no way they
would lose the series. I honestly can't believe it. I
thought they would win before it. Then they got up
three one and I thought it was over. But also
the Cancun references the most entertaining part of it, Yes,
because everybody's you know, one to three Canco when you lose.
And now people are pointing out that I think it was.

(32:19):
It wasn't CJ McCullum, it was who was it? Um?
It was Damian Lillard who said, I still haven't booked
it yet, Right, I booked it yet. Maybe you guys
can get on the same flight or something like that.
And finally, I feel like Vince Kelly did when Sandy
Kofax needed just one more out for his famous perfect game.

(32:39):
Can Doug go perfect today? Last question, when discussing the
future of the organization and general manager Darryl Morey, Houston
Rockets owner Tilman fer Tita said everything is on the table.
Was that real or fake? Mm? Hmmm mm hmmm. Um,

(33:01):
I think that's fakeness and a swing and a miss
by Harvey keeam perfect game. Doug gottlie Ladies and gentlemen
has for Tina gave Darryl Moorey the dreaded vote of confidence,
saying to c NBC noted NBA news breaker Darryl Morey's
job is safe. He said, I'm sure he's gonna pick

(33:23):
the right head coach, didn't he Yeah, that's what he said.
This is game time on the Duck gottlieb Show. Let
me ask you, Ryan, you grew up in southern California.
Your childhood was the Kobe shack era. You know my
childhood was was Magic Johnson and the Clippers with the

(33:45):
laughing stock. It's funny because the Clipper curse used to
be used to be, you know, drafting Danny Manning he
gets hurt, Danny Ferry, he gets hurt. Randy Woods isn't
any good. Michael Wiliwa Conde's a bust right like those
That's what he used to be. Now the Clipper curses
become the sec can't get past the second round. What
do you think when you're watching last night, Well, it

(34:06):
certainly looked like at one point the when they grew
the lead to double digits, um, you started to go, man,
maybe the Nuggets have officially run out of gas. But
in the back of your head, you're going, are they
really going to blow another double digit lead here in
the second half. And it was amazing because you think

(34:26):
of the Clippers and this is the second go round.
You know, I'll I'll never forget when there was Lobs
City um with the Clippers. The Lakers were at a
low point. It was they weren't really competing anymore. It
was the end of Kobe's career. But really they were
not a competitive playoff team. And people have always talked
about like, hey, they're getting ready to take over l A.

(34:49):
And then we saw how that ended up, you know,
blowing up and they never advanced, as you said, past
the second round. And this was supposed to be the
next iteration of well now they have Bomber and it's
different in Kauahi Leonard and Paul George, and it's just
kind of remarkable that it ended up in the exact
same result. I'm with you. I don't always buy into curses,

(35:11):
but I think the Clippers curse might be a real thing.
I don't know the Clippers curse. I just I think
it was they felt like new money to me, right,
they felt like new money and be like, oh, listen,
we're gonna go. And somehow they figured out a way
to get Paul George and Kauai when the Lakers thought
for sure they were getting Paul George, I mean knew
they were getting Paul George and they don't um and

(35:34):
then Balmer comes in. He overpaid for the team by
a billion dollars. Now I'm gonna go build an arena
right next to the Forum which used to be the
Lakers Arena. I was gonna throw money around and we're
gonna walk around like we owned the place, like yeah, look,
at some point, you actually have to win the games.
That that's the hard part is actually doing the winning.
It's a little easier when you're you know, in in

(35:56):
the business world, where if you screw up or somebody
else comes up with an idea, you can just buy
up that idea, right, And that's what a Microsoft could
do is somebody else develops the software, you just buy
it by the company, and then you put them under
your umbrella. And then you end up having their software
and your champion as your own. So I the winning

(36:18):
is hard, but man, there is something to the Clippers
out of its Clipper curse or the culture or the
expectations or whatever. But they were definitely put in their
place on in the media and social media last night,
and it will be interesting to see how they bounce
back from it. Should we still consider Qui learned the
best player in the world right now? I'll address my

(36:39):
previous comments about Kauai the best the best next on
