Rest assured Lenny will join the guys again, but this was a helluva start.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Boom. If you thought four hours a day, minutes a
week was enough, I think again. He's the last remnants
of the old republic, a sole fashion of fairness. He
treats crackheads in the Ghetto Cutter the same as the
rich pill poppers in the penthouse the clearing House of
Hot takes break free for something special. The Fifth Hour

(00:23):
with Ben Maller starts right now. That it does, and
I hope you're having a good day to day as
you practice social distancing. The coronavirus continuing on, and we
have a special edition. Why is this edition of The
Fifth Hour with Ben Maller and David Gascon different than
all previous editions of this dopey little podcast that we

(00:45):
do because we pop our cherry for the first time.
We have a guest, and I don't usually do guests
on the Overnight Show. It's just me and a microphone
and a bunch of crazy people calling up, and that's
what the way we've done it. And but there's only
a few people I really want to talk to, and
one of them we have on today, the great Lenny Dikstra,

(01:07):
and I I love Lenny. Now if you're I don't
know how you did not know who Lenny is if
you're listening to up possibly a sports based podcast. But
I have ranted for years that life is all about
the stories. That's all about the stories, the people you meet,
the places you go along the road of life. And
nobody has more stories in the world of baseball than

(01:28):
Lenny Dikester. This guy was part of the nineteen eight
six Mets, the the biggest frat boy team in my life,
the eighties six match. He became the incredible Hulk on steroids.
In fact, he was such an incredible hulk that he's
the last player at at five ft nine, Lenny Dikester
was the last player in Major League Baseball to lead

(01:50):
the league in both hits and walks the same season
when he was all routed up with the Philadelphia Phillies
in the early nineties, he ran car washes UH for
a while, and we didn't even get into that. Uh
wrote a book. He's been to jail. He was considered
a Wall Street tycoon at one point. He lost everything,
went to prison, drug rehab, the whole thing, and we

(02:14):
even touch on his Howard's Stern interview is famous. Howard
Stren interview from a couple of years ago, but I
would say the highlights of what you have to look
forward to in Giscon. You can touch this up if
you want. I think the part where he talks he
tells a story about uh Barry Bonds that I had
not heard before, and he delves into Donald Trump as well,

(02:36):
and something that the President of the United States is
apparently planning to do to help Lenny dikest out. Everything
that we went through reminds me of the summer of
twenty nineteen when you told me to watch the Al
Jazeera documentary on steroid and performance enhancing drugs. Because from

(02:58):
talking to him, he was out of the curve and
he was one step ahead of everybody else during his time.
He was truly a pioneer. Yeah, and I had not
heard the story. Maybe he wrote about it. I didn't
see in his book, but he told the story about
how he first stumbled into steroids. And it's a facinating
It involves a public library and Mississippi is what it falls,

(03:19):
which is just just crazy. So I don't want to
give it away. I don't want to spoil it. Uh,
it is amazing. Give it up now for the man,
the myth, the legend Lenny Dixtra, and we begin by
asking Lenny his thoughts on the current situation involving the coronavirus.
I'm not straighted out and I don't think it's bullshit.

(03:39):
So I mean, you know, today they announces over a
thousand deaths now and in the United States. But I
mean the bottom line is is when there's uncertainty, uh,
people just don't know what to do and and and
that's where the panic comes. Uh. You know, life is
about trying to get yourself in a predictable situation, whether

(04:01):
you're playing baseball and trying to get to get ahead
of the count or anything else in life. And this
is so unpredictable. So it's it's something like we're kind
of hunchartered waters. You know. Yeah, now, have you been
out shopping because I've noticed when I've gone to the
store and I've only had to do it a couple
of times a last week because I've been staying home.
But uh, I think you're in California as I am.

(04:22):
But people they give you these weird looks like maybe
not you because they might know who you are, but me,
they like give you these deaths stairs like they treat
you like you got to plague or something like, it's crazy.
Have you experienced any of that? And that's how I
feel when I get my adderall Field, the brook and pharmacy.
They look at me like I'm sucking, uh getting heroin

(04:42):
or something. But you don't know. I have. I have
and people are shared, but I'm not scared. Um, I
haven't had a cold point five years. Man. I'm I'm
I'm bulletproofed dude. And I mean, obviously I've had some
ups and downs. I think would be st say, yeah,
you've had a couple a few, you've had a bumpy

(05:04):
Speaking of the bumpy ride though, Lendy, what now when
when you tweeted out that you were going to come
on and do the podcast and I was excited, thank
you for that. Immediately the trolls, How do you enjoy
the trolls, Lendy? They were all over you busting your
balls on Twitter. You must enjoy that, right, That's that's
the players, that's what's all about. And you gotta you
gotta have the I mean, remember, I was voted as

(05:26):
the most hated player in the league five years ago
by the opposing team, and that's because I made their
job sucking hard. And like I told my my teammates,
I see you talking to the other team. We're fighting, okay,
we're playing for real fucking money. And and so when
we go on the road, here's what we do. We
go to their house, we take their money, and we
sucked their women. And that's how we roll, okay. And

(05:50):
so so yeah, I mean they're haters, but the bottom
line is they don't know me. They're nothing about me, okay,
And so I don't give a funk, and I just
tell the truth. So I roll. Letty, you mentioned being bulletproof.
There's a fascination going on right now here in Los
Angeles that most of the gun stores are out of ammunition. Um,

(06:11):
what kind of self protection do you have right now? Um?
All I have is, uh, well, my nickname is Nail,
So I got a ham rass about it. I've never
shot a gun before. Man. I you know, talking to
a guy that had one friend in high school and
the only reason I had one friend and said I
need somebody to play cats with, you know. Uh so so, Um,

(06:34):
the bottom line is, you know, you have all this,
all this stuff, and then you have things like Ron
Darling this guy that you know wrote this book full
of lies and and you know, the press kind of
you know, everyone brought into this this cancer bullshit, he says.
And uh, that's uh, that's gonna be the next virus,

(06:55):
so rond varmin virus. Letty, I gotta follow open that.
I was gonna ask you about that anyway, Like I
did some some BS monologues on the radio about that
when that story came out and you sued Ron Darling,
and somebody put the video up, the raw feed from
that World Series game at Fenway, and I couldn't hear
anything that he had claimed that. You say, how was that?

(07:20):
But how's the lawsuit going though? Has that been settled? Well?
The figger than the lawsuits, though, Ben, I mean like
I haven't really went public and said this before. Um
but because your stars on the rise and uh um
and and in fact, I was talking to one of
your your main guys that I've heard yesterday. Uh not

(07:42):
not the soul as cool as hell, but but Ron Darling.
Um Um, there's a lot more of that story than
than a defamation lawsuit. Okay, this's a it could be.
It could be the biggest story and since since since
the juice got loose, you know, really, and are you

(08:04):
oh yeah, you go back and look at the the coincidence,
I think not okay, And again, why would you take
me to make it? Might you want to make the
last motherfucker you want to make an enemy of his me? Okay?
Because and that's what he did. And so and now

(08:25):
there's there's I have, you know, documented attacks of what
really happened. And so someone someone's gonna pay and it's
gonna be me. But that's still going through the legal process, right, Lenny,
it's still yeah, legal, But like I said, this is
way bigger than legal process. This is about the integrity
of the game, which is which is the most important

(08:47):
thing that major eat baseball. So, um, somebody's gonna have
to do something here quick or like I said, um um,
this will make the scronavirus took like children's play. Lenny's
he you know, the EIGHTI six Mets a legendary team
of course, But is he like the guy? Obviously you
don't like him now, but is there anybody else that

(09:08):
you don't get along with on that team or every
everyone else? Still, you guys, we got along great. No
one likes him, You know we called him Mr P.
I nicknamed Mr P you know, Mr Perfect because you
know he went to Yale and and Press. I gave
him credit for getting away with that ship he had
for twelve years of less and the big leagues, I
mean they had not on the ball with his sucking hand. Uh.

(09:30):
But but but at the end of the day, Um,
when you fucking lie, okay, or we need to tell lies,
and then you have to start covering them lines up, Okay,
you know you start getting uh, doors started opening that
you never thought would open. And that's why I had
to tell the truth. A lot of people don't like
me for that, but guess what, I don't give a fuck.

(09:51):
That's how I roll. You know, I'm a man of
the people. Lenny, you talk about the game baseball real quick.
How clean do you think it is compared to the
early two of thousands or late nineties. That's a great question.
Is it's cleaning to guess? There's definitely no drugs in baseball? Um,
meaning you have a French player that that's going to

(10:11):
be released or something that that might you know, amp
Up and the US are raw, but overall they've they've
cleaned up the drugs are definitely out of baseball. So
what does baseball do? I mean, think about it. They
shattered the home running record for a single season, after
all the drugs are out of baseball. Well, how they
do that? Really simple? Major League Baseball touch the scenes

(10:34):
way down, okay, and major balls like like like super Bowls.
And again I'm not a physics guy, but I know
one thing. Waits to fly my private jet and I say,
my flops go down. That obviously so is the plane down.
So when them scenes are not up okay, and they're
down and they're flush, balls are going to travel, okay.

(10:55):
So and that's a major Baseball just created that. So
with that being said, then with with launch angles and
eggs of loss and everything that we talked about now,
with sever metrics and everything of major League baseball, if
Ben and I put you in in the commissioner's seat
and we said, hey, you are now Rob Manfred, how
would you execute the punishment to the Houston Astros for

(11:16):
this season? Another great question. First of all, that was
a fucking joke. Okay, I mean listen, I've played in
the Big league swove years, so let's let's let's play
this out here. We go ready, okay. So so I'm
in the battles box, okay, And so the pisture's shaking off,
shakes off. Then he says again he starts his wine.

(11:38):
That means the guy in center field or whatever the
fun they got out there has to has the number
one guest, right because you know, because they changed the
sequence probably every other ending, so he has to guess. Right.
Then they have to get it to the to the
guy who's got the trash cans and can imagine hitting
like we're gonna sucking trash. Can somebody hang the motherfucker's

(11:58):
meaning like, and the guy's gonna wind up? I mean
they it looked like man looks like it needs something
to do, and it's just it's way out of control.
I mean, people am still in signs since since baseball
has has been around. I mean, but again, like people
think that that happens impossible. I played the game. It's impossible.

(12:22):
And you get crossed up one time. He crossed up
one time. As a hitter. You're you're gonna you're gonna say,
don't ever give me the signs signs again. You know,
I got a funny story speaking in Houston. It happened
in Houston. Remember Craig Digo, he was he came up
as a catcher. So so the first two at the

(12:42):
Weekend Series series, they're the first two games. I was
like gay free. And on Sunday he says to me,
I'm leaving off. He says, since we can't get you
out when we don't, when we don't know what's coming,
I'm gonna tell you every pitch that's coming, every attack.
And so now he's just kind of pregning with me.
He says, here kind of fast, far right down the middle,
and the picture throw the passot right down in the

(13:04):
middle boughtom mine. Long story short, he gave me every
pitch because he's fuck with my mind. I went over
for yeah, but but later you know, that's how mental
it is. The astro thing though, Lenny. In the World
Series video, you could see the setup like behind the
dugout where they were relaying the signs, and it was
like they weren't even hiding it. They were like they

(13:24):
were right in your face, like they had this whole
thing with the monitors and the whole deal. And they
were even people on the internet to think that al
Tube was wearing a buzzer that I love. That gets
me hard man. Here that dodger the case five hundred
thousand dollars to have umpires be followed around. Okay, So,

(13:48):
like I said, what Houston did spist get? That gets
me off man, because that's hard to do it. They
trust me, all right, Lenny, Let's move on to listen
the Hall of Fame. I gotta ask you a boy this. Now.
I know a lot of people who cares about all
of fame, but this is something that bothered me. You know,
back in the day in the in the peak of
the steroider, which you're familiar with. Of course you were

(14:09):
part of it. But uh, like you look at certain
guys are allowed in the Hall of Fame like Pledge Rodriguez,
Mike Piazza, guys that are suspected of using p d s,
and then other guys like Bonds and Clemens are black
from the Hall of Fame. How do you feel about
that money? That's not funny? Then I know you're no
wonder You're you're rating it so high, dude, you you

(14:31):
picked up you pick an area that I literally got
escorted out by the by the Hall of Fame police
because I went in there, and I wanted to know.
I said, how are the three best players in the
history of baseball not in the Hall of Fame? I said, like,
what's the fucking threshold? What makes somebody bad enough not

(14:54):
to be in the Hall of Fame? So is it
okay to be your wife? Is it okay to take
instead of me? What makes somebody bad enough? So I
went off on them, I captain. They went as to
me because they don't have an after and like you
said that, everybody took in set. It means in the
in the seventies, and that's a fact, undisputed. Instead of
means are much more performance enhancing them than steroids because

(15:19):
they get you up and you're playing every night and
a rigorous schedule. Um um. But then when you combine
the two like I did, then you have gears like
I have. Never mind um anyway. But the bottom line
is is the Hall of Fame is a mess. Because look,
if they want to have a good guy, a hall

(15:39):
of Fame for the good guys, then that's fine, you know,
but the Hall of Fame is supposed to be at
least I believe this is what you do on the field.
I mean, if you take Bond is the first ten
years where you played Pittsburgh, Okay, until I showed him
how to shoot steroids, And I take credit for that.
We'll get back to that later. But the bottom line
is their fifth best overall. Okay, Roger Clemens. I mean,

(16:04):
this is a guy that that beats the beds by
the way, and that's impossible to do. Trust me, I
know all about that, Okay, And so I couldn't get
an answer from because they don't have an answer. So
so I'm I'm something's got to change there. Be sure
to catch live editions of The Ben Maller Show weekdays
at two am Eastern eleven pm Pacific on Fox Sports

(16:26):
Radio and the I Heart Radio app Lanny. What about
the drug usage itself with Bonds? Like, like, what what
exactly did you help him with that? You mentioned the steroids,
but what exactly was he taken? I mean, I know
there's a concoction of a couple of different things, but
what wasn't the cocktail? Yeah, we'll see Bonds. I gotta

(16:46):
give him credit. See so remember in Christcoe candlestick Um
you had to walk you know, you came out of
like the clubhouse, who came out on right field had
and walked. That's the batting case. So I'd always see
you know him and in Dusty Baker and Dusty Baker
as cool as fuck. Come I any manager wears wrist fans.
You gotta love that. Um. But but um Bonds, you'd

(17:10):
always say, you know, because you know, I knew him
from from before and and and I'd always say to them.
He'd always say to me, do like, how how are
you doing this? Man? Like? How are you? How are
you saying this throng? I told him. I told him
the whole story. You know, um objected. They're born, you know,
a little bit of a little bit of a chest
officeron and some some sesston and you're on your way

(17:34):
rock and roll, you know, and you walk walking into
that box that you got a fifteen inch cock man.
And and the bottom line is the disciplined Bonds had
to wait. Okay. And and I mean, if you think
about the numbers of this idea, steroids are a note steroids. Okay,
I led the league and walks two years, two separate years.

(17:55):
One time I had a hundred twenty or something. One
time I have something like that. This motherfucker watched two
hundred eighty seven times when you're eighty intense seven or
seven or eight intensil. Those are little league numbers, man.
I mean, the bottom line is, if you wanted to
find Barry Bonds, you can do two ways. Barry Bonds

(18:18):
the best players to ever put on a baseball uniform.
Barry Bonds the biggest dick they ever put on a
baseball uniform. Be sure to catch live editions of The
Ben Maller Show weekdays at two am Eastern eleven pm Pacific. Lenny,
when who inspired you to do the steroids? Like? How
at what point? I know you probably talked about in
the past, but I don't. I have not heard it.

(18:39):
So like, did somebody advise you some other player and
tell you, hey, here's how you do it? Or did
you learn it on your own? Another A great question.
Here's what't have them? Davy Johnson, manager of the mess
them dumb. That's overrated, overrated, under under daving manager in
the history of baseball. Um he um. I finally got traded.

(19:04):
I was in We're playing the Phillies and I'm writing
at I was stations because he can't fortune of me,
and I said, listen, man, I gotta play. I mean,
I can't just to tune bullshit. So so after my
second at that, he says, you're done. Said what fluck?
What fuck you that? I'm not done? He said, no,

(19:24):
you're done. You're done. So I go up in the
clubhouse and and and and I get in uh in there,
and the great Harry Collis is unbelievable. I hear him
say a lot of actions. They do that, and then
it was initials or l D. I said, I just
got fucking traded, man. So I'm sitting in my cubby
hole and after the game and wincas half on the shoulder.

(19:47):
I get it. And and they said baby wants to
see in his office. And so there's Joel McIlvaine in
there too, you know the Newists, you know newistum he was.
He was actually pretty cool dude. So Davy Johnson just says, listen,
we want to thank you for helping us win a
world series. We just traded you to the Phidelphia affilities.

(20:09):
I said, wait, the team and the other dug out,
what do I meet him at home play? What happens?
So any long story short, So I get there and
Lee Thomas as a general manager and he's an awesome guy.
And you know, he says, you're gonna leave up every day.
So I come out of the gates. I remember, I'm
only five mile okay, sixty then and I come out

(20:32):
the gates. I'm raaking. I'm in three. And the bottom
line is I physically did not have the stamina and
and and the durability to the last day in, day
out over the ruling schedule. So I'm timbered. Okay, I
sell far in eighty nine. But Lee Thomas told me

(20:52):
after the season, he says, listen, that was your first year.
You know perst time playing every day. You're gonna lead up.
We're gonna give you. You're gonna lead off every night.
You have to live the lineup. So now I know
es basically determine my life. I either got to get
a real job. I'm gonna make a lot of money.
So I went too. I was living in Mississippi at

(21:14):
the time. People who lived there actually and and I
was living in Mississippi. I went to the library and
I looked up this is I looked up to say
Ben Johnson. I found he was the sprinter, the runner
who got caught with WINNI v and so what I

(21:34):
did is then I went to the yell page. It's so,
I said to myself, like, I don't need something to
help me play baseball. I can do that. I need
something to help me last I stay strong enough to
last seven months. It is seven months, you know, we
had spring training and six months. So I found some
hillbilly doctor in the yello pages. I called him up,

(21:55):
and I went in there and I explained this what
I explained to you. I said, listen, I chance to
make millions of dollars. I said, I need something that's
gonna keep me strong and keep me durable. So I
can laugh. I'm a little guy, and said, I run
around a lot. And I said, by the way, I
didn't even know what he's gonna give me. So he

(22:17):
writes the prescription for me. He said, go to write
eight and filled out, and he gets filled and come back.
I'll show you how to do it. So I still
don't know what it is. So it turns out a
deca durable and I wait a wait in line A right.
Remember it wasn't illegal then, was the way A head
of curved and and I used to my prescription filled

(22:38):
and little vials. I walked back to his office. He's
got a fucking harpoon waiting for me. Okay, he puts
it in my ass. I hire a trainer. I worked
my ass up in the gym. I showed up a
spring training Reggie Hammond did in that bar in forty
eight hours. A new sheriff in town, motherfucker's and any

(23:00):
and ain't Reggie Hammond's. Lenny fucking Dikestro. So I came
in like a Greek statue with one and and you know,
true incidence I had that year. I'm on the sub
Sports Illustrated hit four in June. I think, not okay,
they work and and I told Major League Baseball their

(23:21):
problem wasn't the drugs. It was steroids because because they
help you make more money at any time moneys involved,
people make bad decisions, okay, or decisions that they wouldn't
normally make, okay. And so that's what happened. What were
you gonna do. Let the guy next to you take
him and and and let him. Um you say, I'm

(23:44):
a good guy, I'm not gonna do it. So you
get fired and he makes thirty million dollars. So basically
everybody was taken when we were taking them, but but
now they're they're all off them now. Well, Lenny, what
about this though, because you mentioned the off season conditioning,
but the seven months you got a hundred sixty two
games spring training and possibly postseason. So what was your

(24:06):
daily regiment because were you were you stacking it with
anything else? Like were you taking any human growth hormone
or or protein? Like what was your diet and your exercise? Yeah,
I imagine your girls. I was a chemist, bro. I mean,
it's not a coincidence that that my highest average in
all the stadiums was Houston because he remember, I knew

(24:29):
the game was never going to be there's every rain delades, see,
so you know when when when when you're on the ship.
So the regiment was this, Okay, I'd wake up or
maybe come to like about twelve o'clock, okay, And the
first thing I do is whoever was next to me?

(24:51):
I dropped a thirty texture dream Adam. I wasn't in
that it was a time release of Dexter three. And
then I'm taking another one about I don't know five
for VP, and then I take the bill Heart's Orange,
going is the Kickers? Okay? And on the steroid part.

(25:15):
You know, I was um um, I was doing that,
you know weekly. That's um. I really loaded up in
had a year that that nobody's really had before. But
but that was my regiment. And and am I telling
kids to do that? No? And am I am? I? Am?

(25:38):
I proud of what I did on the field. Yeah,
what I do, It's what I do it the same way. Yeah,
you know why because I had to. I had to.
If I didn't do that, I would have had to
take a you know, get a real job and and
and you know, take orders from somebody and and live
with the life that people live out there. And that

(25:58):
is the husband gets up, he goes to his job
of the apes. It's back in his car, home to
his miserable wife, eats of fitty food. They don't fuck
gets up in the morning, they do it again. I
can't wait. Yeah, where do I sign up? Fuck that? Man? Well,
so with that being said, then Lenny, can you take
us through the darkest moment of your professional career when

(26:20):
it was in the field to play or offseason activity.
Another great question, man. You guys have asked some great questions.
What if we get into fussy But I don't think
you have enough time for that. Um. But anyways, the
darkest moment was okay, I'm leading off the All Star game, okay,

(26:45):
um against Randy Johnson, the Creature, And somehow I battled
my ass off and work a walk, and you know,
Felipe Lose the manager at the time, and and he says, listen,
the only sign the only thing we're doing his own signs.
But you're running three one, three two, And so I
was something out bad. I don't get a walk. First

(27:06):
first a bad painting plane in Texas, so um and
Bonds sent to the next guy makes it out and
then Bond ticks three one. I looked at the first
basebokes my running. He says, yeah, so I don't want
to pick off, so you know, I go. Bond takes
a fucking cock shot. Pedro Rie starts a rocket down.

(27:27):
The ball was waiting for me, talking about the jog
of shame. And then we got in the outfield and
I said the Bonds, I said, you know what, motherfucker,
instead of this pitching around you, I'm gonna tell my
pitchers I'll throw you in the fucking neck, you sucking dick,
you know, because you hung out to dry you see,
and and um, what happened there is the darkest moment

(27:51):
that wasn't it? That was a black moment, the darkest moment.
And I don't think I've ever told anybody. This was
when using you only get like a couple of thats
and they all start getting because I played the other guys,
I actually wanted to come out of the All Star
Game because I was on so many pills and I

(28:11):
was so fucked up at that time, and you know,
I was having to take thirty pain pills a night.
And and I remember when the game ended up, what happened.
I think I think it might played the whole game,
you know, And I didn't even want to play, which
is crazy because that's what I loved it. But it

(28:32):
was all because of the drugs. And I got in
my limousine and I laid down on my limousine right
in the parking lot of Texas, and I said to myself, Wow,
is this hit man? This really is? I said, So
what I did after that is I went to Israel
and I did this special treatment and have them taken

(28:55):
an an opiated since um um, because you know, we
have an opiate epidemic out there. But that's how bad
it was. And it was that bad and that's when
when the Swiss came on, you know, So that was
pretty dark and sad actually, you know, yeah, that's wild, Lenny.

(29:16):
I want to go back the Howard Stern, the famous
Howard Stern interview did a couple of years ago. How
did that change your your life? That was legendary, That
was internet fame. You were talking about your amazing skills
in the Yeah, it was still amazing. I mean, I'm
I'm I'm an artist, bro. I mean see, I thought
God put me on the earth to entertain people on

(29:38):
the baseball field because I was actually pretty good at it,
but that wasn't my calling. And I realized that he
put me on earth to help women. You see, that's
what I do. I'm a giver. I give back and
so um is it truth? You know? I mean, come on, dude,
who who who else? Who else gets their keeth taking

(30:02):
out to do their artwork? Okay, that's somebody dedicated to
the subfession, you know what I mean? Absolutely? But the women,
what's it like you're you're getting up there in age now,
is that you're still getting the younger women letting everything
good with that? Oh yeah, got a couple of part
next store. Actually, um, but but the bottom liners, it's

(30:25):
a deal. I mean, I can't even watch the fucking
game anymore. If I watched the game, like, there's another
one of my fucking kids. I mean, but but but
now that I'm older, like and I have to take
a dick pill, I have to do this, have to
do that. I can't come. And if I do come,

(30:46):
it's like sucking dust, you know, sucking somebody that think
a murders going on. So I'm basically at the point
of now just hearing these words, and I'm good. When
I hear these words, I can't believe I'm doing this.
I'm sucking straight, you know what I mean. It's a
thrill to kill. I mean, I've made so many of

(31:06):
your posit it's just like like that's not even the
deal anymore, you know what I mean. But let don
know what I mean. You're gi you give back to
to the female. I love that line. You go ahead.
That's right, brother, that's right. I'm giver man. I gave
back the second I gave back to my team. I
took a lot of pitches, played the game, right, you know,
and when the game went When the game went in,

(31:28):
I'd always go. First thing I do is be line
right to my club, my locker, and I sit down,
and that's myself if I were a fan, but dating
lineing to watch me play the night as I judge
myself every night and and every night, with the exception
of one night, the answer was always yes, even if
I took it over for well, Lenny, outside of the

(31:50):
game of baseball, you mentioned taking your hacks, So can
you give us like not a typical night, but one
of those nights it doesn't matter the city, the country, Like,
how would you get yourself juiced up no pun intended,
but juiced up for a night when you had an
itch where it's like you're out party. Yah, it was
another great question. Well, you guys are on point. So

(32:13):
what I did is is again, I've always been to
have the curve. Okay, I mean you know I was
I've always you know, kind of been somebody the kind
of of the curve when I had to because you know,
I was a little guy and I do I think.
So what I did is is I didn't say at
the team hotel. Okay, this is when I was at

(32:34):
the Philly You know, I was the Metsos young you
guys just did you know, glad to be there. But
when I to the Phillies, you know, I never stayed
the team hotel one one none season I I went,
you know, starting ninety, I had my boys take out
the Presidential Suite as the best hotel in the city.
And I'd have them bring the bar to the suite

(32:57):
because I got hit by a lot of pisces and
not that many, Like you're a bar fucking trying to
scream and talk and you're wasting time. And see, we
can buy a lot of things with our money, but
we can't buy times. So what I would do is
have my boys get to the town and and you
have everything set up so when the game went out,

(33:17):
be over. Everything was waiting for him. Okay, that's called
robes and room service, my friends. Okay. And the only difference,
the only town that was the worst town on the
circuit was Dispute, Pittsburgh. So I told my guys and said,
you've done motherfucker's but the coal miners lads here, what

(33:38):
you need to do is we're in a couple of youth.
All is back I'm up to the University of pitt
and say all fucking alcohols free and drugs free, come
out of this party. And the next thing I know,
Pittsburgh went from the worst of the best. You know,
that's how we were. Hold man, what about what about
in your offseason? Though? Like if you went to Europe
or Asia? Like, is there any particular city or country

(34:00):
that was your favorite that I mean you would. Man,
he hasn't really hit me good with these questions. And
menacein is the one thing that I'm really not proud of.
But it was actually a genius. I mean it was
stuck in a genius um, you know. And and so look,

(34:20):
I'm not proud of where I lived. I mean I
had a great wife, and but like I mean, I
couldn't like, you know, I was used to trap, being
on the move, so the obviously didn't come and I'd
get forward. And so the first way I started, I
go to New York. That's just in Philly, and I said,

(34:41):
I've seen a shrink and you know, buy a couple
of nights and be able to do my thing, and
that shrink out. The way we're talking about rip offs.
All you want to do is hear my pussy stories unbelievable.
But then I said, this is something. Glad you better
because I had my own plane that I the Gulf Stream.
So so what I did is I came up with

(35:04):
a story. Hey, listen, there's a new rehab in in Paris. Okay,
I want to try this out, and you know, seems
I can get better. And the bottom line, it was
so genius. I have one of my one of my
one of my boys, or or the people I thought
were my friend, uh, go pay for it. And and

(35:27):
so you know, everyone thought I was doing there. But
the bottom line is I bought thirty days of fucking
party and dude flying around and sucking in my jet
in Europe. In Europe from my Carlo to fucking Italy.
Let's do this way. There's a lot of people have
had more money and got more money than me, but
nobody knew how to party like me. Okay, and you

(35:50):
can believe that. Well, yeah, the whole eighties six minutes.
By the way, I hit six country. So you know,
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at Fox sports
radio dot com and within the I Heart Radio app.
Search f s are to listen live all right, Lenny,
I gotta ask you now, if you were playing today.

(36:12):
Now it's changed a lot since you were playing, because
now everything's on social media. It seems like guys are
chasing the ladies on Instagram and that's the playground. Like,
how would you do if you were playing for the
Mets of the Phillies today with with the ladies? Would
you do the same You couldn't do it the same way, right,
you have to change your game up a little bit. Yeah, yeah,

(36:32):
you do. So. I have already helped help players do this.
So so what happens is players, you know, the David
Day'll get caught. They don't They don't know how to
Like I said, you know, you gotta know how to maneuver.
I mean, like the first thing you got to learn it.
You didn't bring anything home to the life. Okay. So,
and I sweet this out the other day about you know, again,

(36:54):
being ahead of the curve. I would take five a
moxas shone every day, uh way over the prescribed do
so you're supposed to take them every way, and but
for me, it was like having a snack run into
my fucking cock. Okay, I mean, that's sucking genius. I
built like a moat around my fucking cock. Okay, so so,
But but what I'm saying is when when when you

(37:16):
let me ask that question, what would I do today?
What I did do is so these players they always
get a cocks. You know how to do it? I said, Look,
we're gonna create a real estafe fund. Okay, and you
can assist. You know, if you want to get five okay,
put it in there, and that's your pussy money. Okay,

(37:38):
y as how the curve again? Now they don't have
to keep driving that what credit card should I use?
But this that you get, you know, to how big
you want to go and what kind of ammunition and
what kind of you know, um partner or whatever they are. Um.
But that's how you do it. See is that genius again?

(38:00):
Fucking hey man? Oh man, this is a good ship here, man,
this is a real life ship quality information. You are
educating information. That's what I'm about. You were again, Yeah, man,
the most valuable commodity I know of his information. And
I'm giving up some information today and these fucking players
got to pick it up and learn from it. The

(38:20):
sure the funk haven't learned from the way you're supposed
to play baseball, guarantee that, Lenny, Are you a political guy,
like are you Are you fascinated by the either love
or hate of President Trump? Yeah? Yeah, I know Trump
pretty good man. And uh it's amazing how I don't
know one woman that might say he can't even say

(38:42):
rights and can't even I mean, for some reason, they
all they all hate. But I think Trumps sucking. I
think Trump sountar fucking good job. He's a Trump Trumps fucking.
He's no pressy man. You know you're hearing all these
conspiracy things out there about about what's going on with
this with with you know, people being getting ready to

(39:05):
be arrested and supposed to Tom Hanks and Ellen de
Generes and all this crazy ship. But yeah, I know
Trump Trump, And I remember Trump invited me to his,
uh the US Open. He had a suite. He bribed
me there to to watch the US Open finals. And
I walked in there and there was Anny Kravitz and

(39:28):
there was p Diddy or Pddy what I don't know
what his name is now or something like that, whatever.
Both of them were cool as ship. So's that's three
and then here comes into Trump walks in. He knows
everything about us, he took us right night. He was calm.
I mean, the guy, the guy he's set a photographing

(39:50):
you many. I don't think he's ever had a drink
in his life. And so, you know, the whole campaign,
like like when I heard he was winning because I
didn't want to watch it because I couldn't imagine. That's
fucking bit chilly. We Clinton me in there, how to
move to second Filalia? Okay, but but but Trump, Trump's
a Trump's a politician, but he's also got some brass balls.

(40:13):
So I mean, i'm he's he's the best guy. We
guy right now. I don't know about how you guys feel,
but I mean he's done pretty good so far. Now.
He was a Yankee fan, right, did you guys ever
hang on party together? I mean you mentioned the U
S open? But how well did you know Trump? Like?
Did you you guys? Yeah? I mean I didn't not party.
He invited me to mar Largo a couple of times,

(40:36):
and you know, I mean, I mean just we have
we had some conversations, but I remember when he invited
me to mar Largo. Man and by the way, I've
never been a guy. Um, I've never funked around with
like wives or I've always had my own rules or friends,
girls or you know, just always ends bad. But when

(40:57):
I saw that sucking Marla Maples man and man, wow,
what a fucking queen. And like I did a double take. Man,
I mean I think she had a real rack okay
from Georgia. But I think he had a dish here
a little bit. I think he threw her under the bus.
And uh but but yeah, so we didn't know, let

(41:20):
me say, hang out, you didn't really hang out with Trump,
but he was a politician then, you know, and then
and and to to the to the to the highest level.
And and like I said, I mean the thought of
Hillary Clinton, by the way, who was a song cald killer. Okay,
I thought of that dish being in the fucking White House.

(41:40):
Oh my god. Fuck. I mean, did you imagine there
is a guy up there? Think I think that motherfucker? Alright,
let me, let me let me follow up. And I
know what Trump since he became president, he is uh,
he still talks to Don King and some other people
as he talked to you. Would he would you consider

(42:01):
if he offered a job on some panel in Washington,
some BS sports panel, would you would you take it? Lenny?
I got something better than that. I'm gonna get parted
by Tom really fucking hey, and I also want to
get pardoned by the state of California for this bullshit
uh thing they came up with. So so yeah, yeah,

(42:29):
Lenny explained to me, how how does it work? Like you,
you obviously had some legal jeopardy and some problems, but like,
do you concoct has he contacted you? You've obviously reached
out to him. How's this process work? If you want
to I have no idea to educate me on what
the parting thing out works. You're a parting days about
the crazy crying and charging when they hit me for
bankruptcy fraud when I sold a piece of furns over

(42:51):
seven hundred dollars, which knows was nothing to do with bankruptcy.
Thought it was me catching some very powerful people doing
some very bad thing JP Morgan. But you can google
it right now and you say say, let you like
to sue JP Morgan, and it'll say in Google, say
when you're actually taking one for a hundred million. So

(43:12):
I caught JP Morgan, I caught a judge, I caught
six lawyers and a bunch of other people and trustees,
um all doing some very very um illegal things and
went after him. And what happened by doing that as
this big organization called the federal government, um shoot me up,

(43:36):
like and when they scoot me up, it's not just
a normal scoop up. Man. You would have thought they
were fucking kept during Osama bin Laden. Dude, motherfucker's coming
out of trees. And I didn't know what was going on,
and so maybe they put them in the cooler and
they left me in the cool was no bail, okay,
with no crime, and I was in the dail for

(43:56):
seven days nobody knew who I was. I mean, I
think we have this thing called the constitutions, aren't we
where they can't keep you in there unless they start
you with a crime, unless you free like after forty
eight hours. But but um, heywaits, I'm not whining. I'm not.
I'm not you know, here to bitch about that. That's
just the truth, call our truth. But but you know,

(44:18):
but yeah, so so yeah, I don't have to get
get pardoned by Trump because um, that whole story. You know,
it'll get out there. Lenny, your fifty seven now right
with mileage bro with milege. And that's why I wanted
to ask you how the fund did you get to forty? Well,

(44:41):
it's all about number one. It's all about see because
it was prescription. See that's okay. See a doctor prescribed that, Tommy.
You see. Um, Now the Keith Richards and stuff like that,
Well the Keief presure is that that's that's a legendary
now and natural American leg That was our code name

(45:04):
for blow, you know, because you know, chief vists for
the wronging suns. He looks like the line of blow.
So like you're around the band case, you can't say
who's got the blow. So it was like, hey, it's
Richards in the house. And but I was never wanted
to do much of that, you know, maybe wat the
chicks chair or something like that. Um um, So I
was more more into a I didn't like the street drug.

(45:27):
That was more into the described the approved you can
see that was okay, even though I took maybe more
than it was like I was supposed to. Um, I
did that five guys on the payroll going to the
doctor's so but that's what you gotta do. I did
what I had to do. Man, is now my is

(45:49):
now the eliest drug in the world to me. And
and that's obviously the opius meaning and unless say opiates um,
you know, opiates surpain kills, anything that has to do
with with if you want to opiates are are um.
The bottom line is is if you're in the same

(46:09):
car going down the same road with the same destination,
if you get trapped in that opiate world meaning and
by the way, on that road, there's no there's no
you can't say you know what I feel like ship
I want yah, No, no, motherfucker, you're gonna pay because
I'm at the end of that road. It's called dead end, okay,

(46:31):
And you're gonna get there, and you want to get
there faster. Take Carolin, we want to get the sower.
Take back here. So remember nine, So all my teenmates
would be drinking like fifteen years after a game and
I just couldn't do what. I was a leadoft there
and I told the trainer, I said, listen, then I can't.

(46:54):
I had surgeries and I was playing every night, we
were dominating, and I said, there's gotta be something you
give me. So it gives me one little white bill
what's happened to be a Viking and five millground pill
which I put my stuck in cereal, you know. After that,
But but but but I took that one pill, had

(47:15):
one drink and stuck to show it up man, And
I said that. I said, I sucking beat these motherfuckers again.
I reinvented the wheel. I found the combination of the recipe. Yeah,
now go back to that store we talked about in
the All Star game. Okay, And so what happens is

(47:37):
with opiates. You you know again you crossed and imagine
there's an imaginary line. It's different for everybody. But once
you become dependent on them and you're endorp and stopping
and shut down and you're solely dependant on the opiate,
she gets the opiate withdrawal that is so bad. And
unless you've been through it, unless someone has been through it,

(47:59):
there's you know, explaining the pain. I'm not a pussy either, Okay.
I could not get off those motherfucker's. That's why I
end up going to Israel heet Off. I was the
second person in the world to do do a treatment
called rapid detox. But but and you know, I haven't
touched one since because you know, like I said, and

(48:20):
then we haven't opiate epidemic out there. Anybody out there
taking opiates get shopped right now because it end's sucking bad.
Trust me, it doesn't end good. I hear you. Uh, Lenny,
We're up against it. As they said, I want to
have you on again though, you're I'm fascinated and I
wanted to have you on a couple of years ago.
I want you to know my guy Eddie, who I
do the radio show with. He he's like afraid of

(48:41):
He's scared of you. And I was like, you can't
be afraid of Letty Letty. You're You're not gonna or
a late night show, right, yeah, we do the overnight show. Yeah, yeah,
that's right what I'm peaking too. So I'm sucking. It's
perfect exactly. I don't need to plug, Lenny. We gotta
get you like a reality show or something. Money. We
gotta get you something. Yeah, man. The only thing, the
only thing the prod is is that you know, the

(49:06):
bottom line is is you know everybody out there is
a major panic right now with a coronavirus and and
for good reason, because there's so much unsurety. But it
will pass. Okay, I mean we're gonna go on a recession,
We're gonna there's gonna be about problems, but time will pass.

(49:26):
And just remember that that um, every day above ground
is a good fucking day. Okay, that's sorry, look at
life okay, so so so it will pass. But the
panic is out there and it's getting worse and wor similars.
But the reality is that that you're gonna be Okay,

(49:47):
you hating like nails. You stick with nails seven best
time to get ahold of you? Guys? Know that right?
You want to call me? Have me on again? He
called me that my number. I'm ready, awesome, Hey, let
me be good man, be healthy. Thank you sir, you
got now. I enjoy it. Thank you guys a lot.
Thanks Lenny. All right,
