Speaker 2 (00:21):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
It's Monday and at Tower two live in Los Angeles.
It's The Herd. Wherever you may be and however you
may be watching or listening. Thanks for making us part
of your day. Five minutes Matt Hasselbeck, the three time
Pro bowler eighteen years in the NFL, we'll be joining us.
Six playoff appearances with the Seattle Seahawks got to a
Super Bowl, should have beaten Pittsburgh, but de Zebras decided
(00:50):
that day it was the Steelers. Anyway, It sounded like
a homer from the Northwest. Jmac. I watched the first
series of the New York Giants game. The first series,
it was painful and I'm like, wow, they have to
draft another quarterback, Like wow, it was so disorganized with
(01:12):
Brian Dable. The first series of the year for the Giants.
You're like, that can't be the first series. That cannot
be the first series for a quarterback in his fifth
or six year in the league. That can't be it.
Speaker 3 (01:22):
Did you see the stat that Daniel Jones has more
pick sixes three than touchdown passes two since signing his
massive contract extension I believe eighteen months ago.
Speaker 1 (01:34):
Go to YouTube. This is an offensive coach, Go to
the first series it is. It looks so disorganized, so inept,
and I'm rooting for all these guys to play. I
don't want guys to fail. But it's like Giants need
a quarterback.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
They're asking the co coach Dable right now at the
press conference, who's your starting quarterback this week? They're asking
if it's over for Daniel Jones?
Speaker 2 (01:57):
Not yet?
Speaker 3 (01:57):
He should light up Washington, right, Baker, I've hung four touchdowns.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
The Baker's different player than.
Speaker 3 (02:03):
Day Washington secondaries.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
Really, they need more good players. That may have been
a bad gamble by me to take Washington to make
the playoffs. Can I get a mulligan on that one?
I think I need a mulligan on the Commanders all right?
Colin right, Colin wrong? On a Monday, Here we go
where Colin was right. We said it's not going to
take long for Harball. Ten to eleven wins seems reasonable,
no turnovers, more rushing yards than passing yards, Justin Herbert
(02:29):
had just twenty six attempts. It was exactly what we thought.
It would be. Ugly, tough, physical, a street fight with
the Raiders. I mean, it's like they had one hundred
and fifty five yards rushing in the second half. It
was it looked like Michigan. This is exactly what we said.
They're not a super Bowl team. They got to get
better on the perimeter offensively, but this is what they'll
(02:52):
look like and how they'll win. And they did it
in Week one where Colin was raw the Bears offense,
I mean, I knew it would be turbulent. What was
that sixty four passing yards? I mean he again, I
worry about the erratic accuracy by Caleb Williams. His passer
rating was fifty five. It's another game under fifty cent completions.
(03:15):
He missed one down the sideline there, and again, my
expectations are so low for young quarterbacks. But that was
a little concerning. I didn't think it would be that bad.
Speaker 2 (03:28):
Where Colin was right well.
Speaker 1 (03:30):
The Bills are going to be fine without Stefan Diggs.
Now do they have the weaponry to go toe to
toe with Kansas City later or Houston? I don't know
if they do, but it should be noted Josh Allen
is going to lead a football team. Not one single
wide receiver is going to lead a football team. His
passer rating was one thirty eight. Nine different Buffalo Bills
(03:51):
had a catch, So too much is made of the
dominant number one receiver. The best quarterbacks in this league.
I think Dak got better when des Bryant left. He
didn't feel beholden. Now, you got to have some weapon
Cincinnati was weapon light yesterday. But Buffalo's gonna win games
as long as Josh Allen is upright and in.
Speaker 2 (04:10):
His prime where Colin was raw.
Speaker 1 (04:13):
I had the Saints finishing last in their division, and
I think Derek Carr has found the perfect coordinator. I've
never seen Derek Carr play that well. They scored on
their first nine drives, that's officially. Has that ever happened?
Did Alabama score on their first nine drives against Troy State?
(04:33):
What is that?
Speaker 2 (04:34):
So?
Speaker 1 (04:35):
I thought this team was a fourth place team. I
thought Dennis Allen was on the hot seat and they
were flawless. Where Colin was right, Sam Darnold, I just said,
I don't know how good Sam is, but he's a
lot better than his career so far. He's got a
really good coach and a good left tackle, and a
run game and a star receiver. Started twelve for twelve.
His passer rating was one thirteen. It's like Baker mayfielder
(04:58):
Gino Smith. Give the guys a shot. You got to
give him a functional organization. Gino and Baker yesterday had days.
Sam Darnold did too. I've been told by coaches through
the years. He's got the physical traits, he's got leadership skills,
He's a tough guy, played linebacker in high school. He
just needed a coach that got him, and you saw
(05:20):
what he can do.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
Where Colin was right.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
I don't get Will Levis. I think he's too mechanical.
I don't think he's fluid. Since his NFL debut, he
had a great debut since then, five touchdowns, six picks
and nine starts. I don't see it. I don't think
he sees the field. I think he struggles with progressions.
I don't think he has a sense of the pocket.
He got whacked a couple of times. He doesn't hear
(05:45):
the footsteps. I don't know how some quarterback play is innate.
Do you have a feel for it. I think he's
a big, strong kid with a big arm. I don't
think he's got a feel for it. I didn't see
it last year. I just don't get it. Where Colin was,
I thought Oregon was a national championship contender. They're all
line through two games is a disaster. They missed bo Nicks.
(06:08):
They're not close to Ohio State, Georgia Texas. I mean
they'd get blown out of the building tomorrow by USC.
I'm not joking. Like their offensive line is a problem.
They no question they miss bo Nicks. They're just not fluid.
They got good receivers, their defense they allowed two hundred
yards rushing to Boise State.
Speaker 2 (06:29):
They're bad right now. Where Colin was right.
Speaker 1 (06:32):
I've said Colorado is the classic timeshare sales pitch. Everybody
pop Champagnes when you land the recruit, when you buy
it two years later, you want an attorney and try
to get out of it. Colorado's a mess. One in
seven in their last eight games, they don't look well coached.
Shador Sanders has a lot of talent. He's a really
talented kid, but what is this whole thing walking off
(06:54):
the field early. I don't like the feel for this
program at all. Right now here? What should do? Or
taking a shot at his offensive line after the loss.
Speaker 4 (07:04):
Whenever you're able to run the ball consistently, and whenever
you're able to then that opens up to.
Speaker 5 (07:09):
Pass, you know.
Speaker 4 (07:10):
But it's just like you got to understand like what
your team good at. So it was like, why would
we keep running the ball if, okay, we are we
out there, we get in a situation where some must
get and we'll get it.
Speaker 1 (07:22):
Yeah, I don't think he's helping himself in the NFL draft,
and I'm out on Colorado. It's a lot of sizzle.
I don't see the stake. I don't see the details.
I thought Dion got out coached and Colorado got out played.
Speaker 2 (07:34):
Where Colin was right.
Speaker 1 (07:36):
The new kickoff yesterday was actually entertaining. Listen. It looks
weird and maybe it's not perfect, but I'll be honest
about it. I think you're gonna get double the kickoff
touchdown returns and that's all I care about again a
lot of times the NFL. It took him ten years
to figure out the catch rule. I'm not going to
be too punitive. If you give me kickoff touchdowns, then
(07:58):
it's a win. Maybe it's just I mean, I'll give
you this. It looks weird. But is it weird or
does it look weird because I'm used to the other way.
But we've already got Last year, I think we only
had four kickoff returns for touchdowns. We've already got one.
And that's my prediction that there's one line you have
to get through. If you can get through that first line,
it's off to the races. So just take any breath.
(08:20):
It's wonky looking. I think it's going to be okay.
Colin right, Colin wrong.
Speaker 2 (08:23):
On a Monday, be sure to catch live editions of
The Herd weekdays and noon Eastern a em Pacific heard
Hierarchy Now No Go. The top ten NFL teams according
to College Number Tax.
Speaker 1 (08:38):
Listen Baker Mayfield was fantastic. Tampa scored on seven of
eight drives. Baker was twenty four of thirty and totally comfortable.
And that's against Dan Quinn, who's regarded as a pretty
sharp defensive mind. Evans and Godwin thirteen of fourteen one
hundred and forty four yards when targeted. I don't think
Tampa is a great team, but Baker looked like the
(08:59):
MVP of the league. Bucks at ten, number nine, Listen,
they were in big trouble for a while, but I
know what Miami is and what they are. On a
very distracted day because of that unfortunate Tyreek Hill situation,
they outscored the Jaguars when it mattered, thirteen to nothing
in the second half. The only team in the league
(09:19):
to have multiple one hundred yard receivers. Listen, They're not
an even team. It's all about the brain and McDaniel,
the speed on the outside in Tua. But right now
in the NFL, that's a top ten team. I like
Miami at number nine, number eight Chargers. Again, they have
an identity more rushing yards than passing yards. Physical play
(09:41):
I thought Joe Alt for a rookie was unbelievable. Did
not allow a single pressure eleven snaps against Max Crosby.
So they are a at tackle, a at rush end,
a at quarterback, and a at coach. They have an
identity ninety percent of this league this morning doesn't have
an identity. Chargers at eight, number seven. Maybe it's low
(10:03):
the Texans. They're still young, and that was a tough
road game, but they didn't have any turnovers. C J.
Stroud played clean. They had four hundred and seventeen total yards.
You know, I'm about a week from putting them at
number three. If they go home and hammer the Bears,
I think I may move the Texans to number three.
I'm not quite ready, but good God, Stefon Diggs comes
(10:26):
in touchdowns, Joe Mixon bang. I cannot believe how quickly
they have built this roster up. I'm a semi believer.
If they hammer the Bears, I think I'm putting them
at three right now. I've got them at seven, number six,
and it's just experience. Why I have the Ravens at
six because I worry about Baltimore's offensive line. Three new starters,
(10:48):
but you know what, they didn't even play that well
and they almost beat Kansas City at Arrowhead. I just
love the players and the things I love about Baltimore.
I truly love the owner, the coach, Lamar Stanley, the toughness. Listen,
if you can go toe to toe with what appears
to be an excellent, better than last year Chiefs team
and lose by an inch and a half. You're pretty
(11:10):
damn good. Ravens at six, number five, But I'll give
the Cowboys credit. I turned the fourth quarter off. Sorry Fox,
Sorry Tom. It was a blowout. I mean, they got
so many pressures onto Sean Watson. Now some of that
is The offensive line for Cleveland was a mess like
the Rams was. It was using backups, So I don't
want to go too crazy on Dallas. I still thought
(11:30):
situationally on that sixty six yard field goal, it's Dallas
and it was a banged up team. But I'm gonna
give him credit. I know it's September, I know it's hype,
but I'll put the Cowboys at.
Speaker 2 (11:41):
Five, number four.
Speaker 1 (11:42):
The Lions played poorly in one. That's the sign of
a good team. Their defense allowed three hundred and four
passing yards. But some of that is McVeigh, Stafford, Cooper
Cup That's what the Rams do. But but I did
think many of the completions and throws were great plays
by Stafford, not bad defense. It wasn't like the Jets
last night, where guys were wide open all over the field.
(12:04):
Stafford made amazing throws and the offensive line right where
it should be. With PFF is number one again, I
think this is a power team, not a pretty team.
They got a little cute and pretty against the Rams.
I think they should be running the football forty five
times a game. Number three, it's weird. I think it's
the Eagles, and I don't know if they're good. They're
bad defensively. Now, some of that's Green Bay's great offensively,
(12:28):
but let's be honest. AJ Brown and Devonte Smith seventy
five yards plus rushing Saquon Barkley over one hundred yards.
Jalen Hurts, they got nothing but weapons offensively, and this
is an offensive league. Well, their defense isn't good. Well,
the Jets defense was atrocious last night, and that's supposed
to be a good one. The Ravens defense is supposed
to be a good defense. Kansas City did whatever they wanted.
(12:49):
I mean, you keep telling me about all these great defenses.
Doesn't matter. At the end of the year. It's all offenses.
All I see with Philadelphia is playmakers everywhere all over
the field. So even though Jalen Hurts had some turnovers,
there were a machine I think Green Bay could get
to the Super Bowl and green Bay couldn't stop them.
Number two San Francisco eight straight scoring drives against the Jets.
(13:11):
I could put them at number one, but I have
so much respect to be able to beat the Ravens.
I'm not going to It is the Jets. I think
what's amazing is an undrafted running back. They got a
tight end from Harvard, a seventh round receiver, a seventh
round quarterback, didn't have Christian McCaffrey, and they did whatever
they wanted to everything interior running, outside running, jet sweep stream,
(13:36):
everything they wanted to do they did. All those first
rounders on defense for the Jets pushed all over the
field by.
Speaker 2 (13:43):
Six and seven rounders. Number one, I'll give it.
Speaker 1 (13:46):
To Kansas City seven yards of play against the Ravens defense.
And again I'll go back to this, who really plays
great defense in the league. If you're great situationally, then
you're great in the NFL. Dallas had great pass rush
against Cleveland's backup all line.
Speaker 5 (14:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (14:03):
I think the bottom line is Xavier Worthy touched the
ball three times and had two touchdowns. That had to
be encouraging. Hollywood Brown's coming back I think we have
I'll say it again, I think we have two great
teams in the league. After that, Baltimore and Philadelphia Detroit
are flawed teams. Philadelphia and Detroit's back end defen didn't
very good and Baltimore's on line concerns if they didn't
(14:26):
have Lamar Jackson. I don't know what I think, but
they do so they'll get away with an average offensive line. Boy,
I saw some bad quarterback play this weekend, but not
with Mahomes and brock Perty.
Speaker 2 (14:39):

Speaker 1 (15:21):
Well as all of you know. I'm a Sam Darnold
fan like him, personally saw him over the summer. But
I do think for young quarterbacks and mostly all quarterbacks,
fit is really important. And Sam had some mechanical stuff
he had to clean up and they just couldn't do
it in New York, and we felt if he was
ever gonna succeed, Kevin O'Connell was the right guy, the
left tackle, Justin Jefferson, the run game with Aaron Jones.
(15:45):
This to me was like a little bit like Baker
in Tampa, Chris Godwin, Mike Evins, good old line and
Baker's crushing it. And I kind of feel like Sam's
finally got his king maker. And Kevin O'Connell, coach of
the Vikings, want to oh joins us live. So do
you think I know, mostly you quarterback that people think
(16:07):
you can't get better if you don't play, But could
I argue that Sam being with Kyle for a year
and watching it, do you think that helped him?
Speaker 5 (16:19):
Absolutely? I mean, Colin, when you're in a system.
Speaker 7 (16:23):
Like that that you know, really very few people, if any,
run the football better than they do. They do a
great job making it really hard on you to defend
the run because right about the time you try to
commit another defender down to the box, he's got great
play action getting the quarterback off the spot. With the
keeper game, you know, Kyle's you know, one of the
(16:43):
best there is in our league of not only calling
the game, but just how he designs things to attack
week in and week out what he's going to get.
Speaker 5 (16:52):
One of the smartest coaches in our league.
Speaker 7 (16:55):
And I do think Sam definitely benefited not only from Kyle,
but I think Ryan Greasy.
Speaker 5 (17:00):
Does a great job at the quarterback coach position.
Speaker 7 (17:02):
And then just watching a guy like brock Perty who's
played so well, so consistent by a lot of the
same principles, you know, throwing completions, being accurate, playing with
great timing, you know, allowing the offense to hopefully generate
some easy explosive opportunities. And you know, very few teams
have done it better in the San Francisco forty nine ers.
Speaker 5 (17:22):
And I feel, you know, that experience from.
Speaker 7 (17:25):
Sam as we hope to try to have, you know,
success here. He's off to a great start and just
so proud of him with how he played last week.
Speaker 1 (17:32):
Yeah, yeah, it's it was really a joy to watch.
You could see that San Francisco. We said I would
not want to face the Niners in the first week
of the season. I don't want to see Shanahan six
weeks preparing a game plan. I don't care if Christian
plays or not. It's like he and Andy Reid McVeigh,
mcveigh's second half game plan yours against the Giants. I
don't want to face any of you guys in the
(17:53):
first week. I want to I want to get something
on tape. When you look at the Niners without Christian mccaffe,
be honest, you're not sleeping well this week, right, Like
that's they got so many weapons. What do you make
of their offense?
Speaker 7 (18:09):
You know it's it's not only just their offense calling,
and they've got impact players, you know, at every level
of their defense. You just go through the personnel, you know,
as a coaching staff when you start the week out
leading into the game week and one will eventually present
the game plan to the players and you just see
whether it is Trent Williams. Obviously, the quarterback position has
(18:31):
been played as well as anybody at in Brock Purty.
They've got the ability for their run game with Christian
McCaffrey as the best running back in football, you know,
to even you know, come to life and look so
impactful against the Jets and that opener, and I think,
you know, that running back's a good player, and he
wouldn't be there as their next man up if he
wasn't Kittle deebo i yuk. You know, the list goes
(18:55):
on and on, and then you go over to the
defensive side. They have the best, you know, the best
out side defensive end rusher and football.
Speaker 5 (19:02):
They've got a great interior.
Speaker 7 (19:03):
They signed Leonard Floyd, who I was around in LA
who I have always had a ton of respect for.
The great linebacker play, you know from from Fred Warner,
probably the best middle linebacker in football. And then I
think Ward is really ascended as a pretty elite corner,
you know. And when they're healthy and get Hafanngo back,
it's you know, you just you just you can't stop.
(19:26):
You just keep on going with the personnel that they have,
So you better be locked in from a standpoint of
how you want to utilize your personnel while also understanding
the great problems they present. To you in every phase
of the game run, pass, offense, defense, and then you
know they're just going to be incredibly well coached in
the effort and the physicality playing the Niners is you know,
(19:48):
it's it's a unbelievable challenge for your team, but I
think you can learn a lot about your team.
Speaker 5 (19:53):
I know we learned a lot about our team.
Speaker 7 (19:55):
Last year when we really were you know, had gotten
off to a slow start, and right a the time
we were able to.
Speaker 5 (20:01):
Win that football game on Monday Night football.
Speaker 7 (20:04):
You know, I think we learned a lot about what
the makeup of our organization is by the performance against
those guys really complimentary in all three phases.
Speaker 5 (20:12):
And you need to play really well. You need to
take care of.
Speaker 7 (20:14):
The football, and you obviously have to do all the
little things well and that's just schematically and your technique
and fundamentals before you ever start talking about how you're
going to slow down their great person help.
Speaker 1 (20:26):
The league has gotten so offensive that it's just it's crazy.
You're lucky because JJ McCarthy in a strange way. The
injury obviously scares you, but he gets a year. My
home sat for a year. Carson Palmer did I've argued,
we're seeing some of these young quarterbacks. They're just over there,
(20:49):
They're over their head. The stuff is, I mean, Caleb,
that Tennessee pass rush is brutal. And let me ask
you just vaguely not directed at anybody. If I was
coming into the league and I had to start week one,
I was Jaden. I was Bowe Nicks, who I thought
played pretty well. I was Caleb as somebody that played
(21:11):
in this league, I had a good college career. Give
me two pieces of advice as a guy I respect
and the people do. Two pieces of advice is the
world is flying by that kid who goes from playing
Oregon State to San Francisco.
Speaker 5 (21:27):
Right.
Speaker 1 (21:28):
Two pieces of advice you would give young quarterbacks because
we got a lot of them playing in this league
and some look a little bit overwhelmed.
Speaker 7 (21:36):
Yeah, I think you know the first piece of advice
would be to just trust your feet and eyes and
drill the schematics in the fundamentals of your own personal footwork,
timing rhythm, and trust the rhythm that's being coached by
your coaches to allow you to then navigate the pocket,
(22:00):
possibly create off schedule. But hand in hand with that
Colin would be never be afraid to put the ball
in play.
Speaker 5 (22:07):
It might not always be holding.
Speaker 7 (22:09):
The ball for two extra hitches to launch a ball downfield,
or it might not be you know, thrown in between
the hashes and the intermediate level. If defenses are going
to give you the opportunity to throw completions, get the
ball in space to some.
Speaker 5 (22:23):
Of your playmakers.
Speaker 7 (22:24):
I do believe for any young quarterback, every completion can
have a negative effect on the defense and a positive effect.
Much like in basketball, the analogy of you know, very
few people with Steph Curry can start out an NFL
game just ripping twenty five foot three pointers. You get
(22:45):
a guy to the free throw line, or you get
them some easy buckets early, that rim starts feeling a
little bit bigger and you start seeing more shots go down.
It's similar in our game, you know, pitch and catching
to really kind of and that's what I thought Sam
did so well last weekend starting twelve for twelve. You know,
he played fundamentally sound, he played with great eyes, and
he absolutely drilled some throws that were there for him
(23:08):
and then just got into a rhythm where now you know,
the field seems bigger the space seems larger, and you
just have to do a good job as a play
caller trying to continue the flow of the game as
much as you can while also thinking about how you're
utilizing your personnel.
Speaker 5 (23:22):
But those would be the two things I would say, Colin.
Speaker 7 (23:25):
We didn't even talk about blitzchecks or you know, understanding
their role in the run game, or understanding the play
clock and the crowd noise and cadence and all those things.
So you can get the point. I think you're exactly right.
It's a tough ask. You know, haven't studied a lot
of these quarterbacks last year. I think they're all more
than capable of being quick learners and you know, playing
(23:45):
really good football.
Speaker 5 (23:46):
So I'll be watching all those guys for sure.
Speaker 1 (23:49):
Finally, I got to ask you about a guy you
were in LA with McVeigh. Mark Sanchez said this yesterday
and I said it Sunday after the game. I thought
Matt stafford second half been the best half of quarterback
play I had seen in I'm not joking in years.
It was insane. He was missing three offensive linemen on
the road. Sunday night pass rush, Kuka Naku is out,
(24:12):
Kevin he made two throws. I don't even I don't
know how he saw the person. I want to ask him,
because you don't have to play him in the near future.
What's his magic? Like when you when you were at practice.
I mean, you've had all these quarterbacks. If i'd never
seen him play, I said, Kevin, what's what's Stafford's secret sauce?
(24:33):
Because is it instinct? What is his secret sauce?
Speaker 5 (24:38):
Well, we do.
Speaker 7 (24:39):
We do play them coming up, but thank giveness, it's
a short week so they won't be only use any
of my bulletin board material. You know, I know Matthew,
Matthew and Sean are you know Sean McVay is one
of my you know, closest friends in this league, and
Matthew Stafford really getting a chance to coach him was
really changed my whole perspective on the quarterback position. But
(25:01):
I can tell you this Colin, Matthew Stafford really has
every trait that you want as an NFL quarterback. But
where he is truly, you know, at the top of
any chart you can find, you know this is this
guy has an unbelievability to make every single throw from
just about every body position that you would maybe not
(25:22):
always the ones that that some of the other guys
in our leagues can do, you know, moving off the
spot and all those things. But he can in the pocket,
out of the pocket, whatever it is. He can adjust
his arm angle and put the ball anywhere he wants
on the entire football field.
Speaker 5 (25:37):
So that's the starting point.
Speaker 7 (25:39):
Then he's got such an unbelievable, uh you know tool set.
Speaker 5 (25:43):
From a field vision standpoint, he.
Speaker 7 (25:45):
Could tell you the smallest detail about leverages techniques, what
this defender did on the back side of the formation.
Even though he was looking to the right, he still
knew what the guy on the left did.
Speaker 5 (25:56):
That allowed him to almost you know, throw things.
Speaker 7 (26:00):
Never blind because he had the field vision to see
it all, but just unbelievable from a standpoint of that,
and then flat out to be the guy that holds
it that one click.
Speaker 5 (26:09):
If you saw that Sunday night, Yeah, you've got to
be a different kind of cat now. Calling to stand
in there.
Speaker 7 (26:14):
I know that pass rush really well, they're one of
the best in the league in Detroit, rushing the quarterback.
To stand in there over and over again, knowing you're
down and tackle, knowing that you've got to do some things,
possibly with your eyes or holding on the football to
throw it and find completions.
Speaker 5 (26:30):
Couldn't agree more.
Speaker 7 (26:31):
I think Matthew is just fantastic. I think Sean is,
you know, one of the best in our league at
what he does. You know, not just as a play
caller and an offensive coach, but just as a head
coach of an organization. Can't tell you enough the impact
both of those people had on me. But I share
outside of a Thursday night coming up here in October, November,
(26:52):
whenever it is, I'm always watching those guys and rooting
for him.
Speaker 1 (26:56):
Yeah, they'll forget this clip. But and you said, nice stuff,
so you're not going to get in trouble with these guys.
Speaker 5 (27:00):
Well, it's in board material.
Speaker 1 (27:02):
Like Matt Stafford and McVeigh need bulletin board material, Like
you know what, Matt Stafford's actually better after you hit him.
He's better on the road sometimes when you tick him off.
Kevin O'Connell, good luck, Niners is quite a task. Congrats
to you and Sam. Say hi to Sam. I love him,
great kid, Thank you so much.
Speaker 2 (27:18):

Speaker 1 (27:28):
So, here we go Blazing five, Week two.
Speaker 2 (27:32):
Let's blaze it up FU. It's Collins Blazing five sponsored
by Draft Kicks fort in Viking.
Speaker 1 (27:40):
I'm gonna take the Vikings plus five points. I think
it's the play here. Niners are on a short week now,
Jennings has heard it. Wide receiver Christian McCaffrey's still out.
I think it's hard to play two for perfect football
games back to back. Listen Donald Sam Darnold's playing his
old team. He's faced him in practice. This is the
only team Minnesota that held in a under ten points.
(28:01):
They got five sacks. I think they'll put some pressure
and I think this is one of the best coach
teams in the league. Again, the Niners a short week,
they're still banged up. The Vikings pass offense and this
is using backup quarterbacks under Kevin O'Connell. If you go
look at the passing offense, five different starting quarterbacks they've used,
they're putting up top five numbers in the league. I
(28:23):
think this goes down to the final sequence, the final
minutes of the game. I'm going to take the Vikings
to cover, but the Niners to win narrowly twenty six
to twenty three.
Speaker 2 (28:36):
Saint said, Cowboys.
Speaker 1 (28:37):
I'm gonna take the Cowboys as a six point home
favorite and swallow the six points. Could be the best
bet on the board. Listen, just go look at the numbers.
McCarthy and Dak are unbelievable home favorites. It's bully ball.
When they're favored and play an inferior team, they roll them.
Dak best home team in the NFL last year at
eight no. They scored thirty seven points a game, so
(28:57):
they're very comfortable as a favorite player. Downhill defense had
six sacks and probably the strength of the team. Listen,
the Saints are one in five against playoff teams last year,
but they were nine and three record against non playoff
teams started last season. So the Saints get their wins
off the lowsy teams, especially lowsy teams at home. Now,
(29:19):
it's a good team on the road. I like Dallas
to win and cover thirty twenty Cowboys.
Speaker 2 (29:26):
Jet said Titan.
Speaker 1 (29:27):
All right, the wise guys like the Titans. I do not.
I'm gonna take the Jets. Listen as much as Aaron
Rodgers may have scuffed. He was the fourth highest graded
passer in the week in the league last year against
a very good defense. So this offense is gonna get better.
They got pushed around. Also, this offensive line is all
new guys. They're gonna get better every week. We said this.
The old line's gonna take four weeks to get really
(29:47):
attacked together. I just think Tennessee, I'm not sure they
have an NFL quarterback. They were atrocious on third down.
They failed to cross midfield in the second half, brutal
last nine starts. Will Levis is completing fifty seven percent
of his throws. The Jets were humiliated physically. They'll play
with their hair on fire. Their defense will be fine.
(30:08):
I like the Jets to win and the Jets to
cover twenty four to.
Speaker 2 (30:12):
Ten Steelers and Broncos.
Speaker 1 (30:15):
I like the Broncos at home plus two and a half.
I like the dog here. Pittsburgh has another road game,
go to the high altitude travel cross Country. I thought
Denver was pretty good defensively. I mean, I think Sean
Payton and his guys they may not have great personnel,
but they held the Seahawks one hundred and fifty eight
passing yards. They got two turnovers. Bo Nicks, I don't know.
He took a one bad pick in forty two attempt
(30:36):
so I thought he was pretty good. I've said all
offseason I think Denver's personnel is better than you think.
I think we have one of the smartest offensive coaches
at home. And Pittsburgh, by the way, their offense was
twenty eighth rank scoring offense last season. I think it's
worse justin fields did not attempt a single pass over
the middle of the field. Denver coaches are going to
see that. I'm going to take the Broncos the points.
(30:58):
I think they win out right, twenty three to twenty.
Speaker 2 (31:02):
Bear's in Texas.
Speaker 1 (31:03):
Okay, I'm gonna take another favorite. I'm not prone to
do this. I think c J. Stroud. I think in
about six weeks we may be looking up thinking he's
the third best quarterback in the league. I think the
kid's incredible. I think he's incredible. Seventy five percent completion
percentage last week at home. Last year rookie year had
one hundred and twelve passer rating at home. The kid's unbelievable.
(31:24):
He's intentional with his running he's one of the more
accurate passers. Now they've given him Joe Mixon a twenty
five to thirty carried back. They've added Stefon Diggs. Folks,
this offensive roster is e elite. It's top two or
three in the league now, and c J. Stroud's getting
better by the way. The Bears offense a mess and
now Roman Dunzay and Keenan Allen are hurt. Offense had
(31:44):
the fewest yards last week. That was at home against
an average team. I don't think they're going to get
the ball March. I think Houston's gonna totally dominate time
of possession. It's gonna be Joe Mixon, plaques and passes,
the accurate throwing of c J. Stroud. I think it's
a I don't get the line. I think the Texans
win and cover twenty seven to seventeen, and I think
Chicago may score a late touchdown to make it close.
(32:07):
I think Houston is a bye bye bye and CJ. Stroud, Folks,
this kid, how many starts does he have in the pros?
He looks like a nine year veteran, totally poised, totally
under control, no bad throws, DraftKings Sportsbook, home of Touchdowns.

(32:30):
h e RD. So I take two underdogs. I'm gonna
take the Vikings and the Denver Broncos. And I'm gonna
go with some favorites because I think there's quarterback mismatches.
I think Dallas is a great home favorite, but I'm
gonna take Aaron over Will Levis. I'm taking c J.
Stroud over Caleb Williams. Those are quarterback plays to me.
The wise guys don't like those moves. I do.
