Ilia Topuria said they GUARANTEED him a title shot for his next fight, but if Islam Makhachev doesn't want the fight, what will Dana White and the UFC decide to do?! Ben Askren IS BACK with Daniel Cormier to talk about the dilemma facing the lightweight division and he tells DC why he think Topuria HAS TO BE Makhachev's next fight. DC argues that Islam beating Topuria wouldn't be given the props it deserves, because Ilia is moving up divisions as did Alexander Volkanovski before losing to Makhachev. Plus, the guys react to Dana White announcing Sean O'Malley fighting Merab Dvalishvili in a rematch for the title, Conor McGregor running for President, and the NCAA wrestling championship! #Volume #Herd

Speaker 1 (00:01):
The volume.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
What's up, guys, Welcome to a brand new episode of
Fucking the Champ. I'm Daniel Cormier that has been asking Ben.

Speaker 3 (00:18):
I'm a little late, Doug. I'm late, Ben. Bro what
Mexico City got the best to be? Dude? Oh?

Speaker 1 (00:27):
You and Joe Pifer.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
Bro It's bad. Brodie told me that because it was
such a high end restaurant. They said every water source
in the hotel filtered. Everything was filtered. So don't worry
about the ice, just drink it, just eat it. Ben,
I've been to the bathroom forty times since we've been back. Bro,
I'm like at a part work scared. Remember to take antibiotics, Dude,
I don't want to die. You can die from the stuff.

Speaker 1 (00:51):
Man, what is man.

Speaker 3 (00:54):
In a foreign country where I just messaged with your stomach?

Speaker 1 (00:57):
I have an iron stomach. I really ever puke or
hit it anything. My wife is so annoyed because I
you know, all our caid you have little kids, they
get sick and they're gross, and I never ever ever
catch it.

Speaker 3 (01:07):
Really. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
Well, I think one time in the past, maybe fifteen
or twenty years, and I think we pickled some jollopannos ourselves,
and I think maybe we didn't do it right. And
I puked. Mvhomited for about eight hours straight and then
and then I was good. I just it was. I
was on an FRL and I said, hey, guys, I

(01:30):
gotta go like live on the show. I can't be
here anymore. And I literally puked like ninety seconds later,
Like I walked out of the room right to the bathroom.

Speaker 3 (01:40):
Isn't the worst feeling in the world, though, Like throwing
up awful, Like throwing up and stuff is the worst.
It's like the worst.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
Well I don't know, like I'm struggling so bad right now,
but I've been laying in my bed for days.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
I'm just like, God, please go away.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
Like Mexico City. I can't outstand you here. Joe Piper's all,
I don't care if people can take offense to it.
I'm never going back to that place.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
He's like, a, U, you should do the Joe Rogan
clause and just not go certain places on your Are
you as big as Joe Rogan?

Speaker 3 (02:09):
Yet? No, that's not quite almost all.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
Right, So we probably get storist that'll be throwing up
and you know everything else. Ben so much has happened recently.
Illiot the Pooria is stay has claimed that he going
up to one fifty five full time was a little
easier because he was guaranteed a damn title shot. Guaranteed

(02:34):
a damn title shot. We also will talk about Rob
and Sean O'Malley in a rematch. Does that surprise you
or does that annoy you? And last thing before we go,
we're gonna talk on. I'll give you a couple of minutes,
you know, for Funky's take and some gloating because you're
right about Connor McGregor, like in more ways than one,
because Matt Brown is saying he told you this ten

(02:54):
years ago. Matt Brown didn't have the other element right though,
that Connor was going to be a politician, which was
something you somehow saw crazy.

Speaker 3 (03:04):
But first let's start with Iliot to Pouria.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
So Iliot to Pouria said this is quote man, before
I let you go, the belt will be on the line,
he said, it will be on the line. That was
the promise of leaving my title vacant. They've always kept
their promises. They've always kept their promises, is what the
Pooria said. He said that the only reason he went
up left the belt because they told him it will be

(03:27):
a guaranteed title fight. Uh it's easy to believe that
that was something told to the poor you. But how
much of a problem is this going to be if
they can't get Mahatchev to fight him? Uh?

Speaker 1 (03:42):
I think Danish should just do Danis stuff and just
say hey, Islam, if you don't want to fight your stripped.
He's done that. That is in Dana's repertoire.

Speaker 3 (03:51):
Now that Islam doesn't want to fight him.

Speaker 1 (03:55):
I mean, if not, why why is it not happening then?

Speaker 3 (03:58):
So I just think, like I just think that there's
got to be a reason. There's got to be.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
I saw henris A Huto saying something the other day
like even if islamagres could be will come over the
top and say, nope.

Speaker 3 (04:09):
Not happening.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
Well okay, okay, here w'd be. My thing is why
if you're the champion, you're supposed to end the belt
against the best person, right. So Ilia has beat two
legends in a row, and not only beat them but
finished them one hundred and forty five pounds. Volkanovski Hallway
very very clearly the best choosing to go up Islam
has beat almost all of the field, maybe except Armand,

(04:30):
But given what just happened with Armand, I don't think
they want to give Armand the shot again.

Speaker 3 (04:34):
So he beat Armand once, remember he beat him that one.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
Yes, I'm sorry, you're right he did. But given you know,
Arman was just supposed to have the title shot and
he pulled out on super late notice, and so they
don't want to give it. They want to make him
fight someone else first. So that makes perfect sense for
Ilia to pop in given the fact that he is
a champion, he has undefeated, he has defeated two legends
in a row. I don't see how you deny him
the title shot.

Speaker 3 (04:57):
You see. So here's my thought on that one.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
I get it there is it would be warranted because
there is no clear number one contender. I mean, Hanato
boy Connell just fought for the belt. The clear number
one contender is is Armand Cerukion. But if Arman Ceroukion
is not next, Charles Olivera is another guy that has
won fights now beat Michael Chandler was supposed to fight
for the belt before fighting against Armand c Rukion, so

(05:25):
he's had chances, right olivera had worked his way back
into a championship opportunity. He thought armand lost the beach,
then beat Michael Chandler put himself back in contention.

Speaker 3 (05:35):
So there are guys.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
I just don't know that there's anyone as exciting as
Iliot Topooria because it hasn't happened yet.

Speaker 3 (05:46):
Yeah, I'm trying.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
Sure, for sure, Ilia is the most compelling fight there.
I don't know what the pushback would be on him.
By I got it for you. Oh tell me, I
actually have it for you, or at.

Speaker 2 (05:59):
Least I think I have it for you, and you
can tell me if it has any type of you know,
if it's valid in any way.

Speaker 3 (06:05):
Okay, it's Lama.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
Look at his resume right now, riad office title fights
and title defenses.

Speaker 1 (06:11):
Yeah, so he beat Charles Oliver.

Speaker 3 (06:14):
So he beat Charles Oliver for the belt.

Speaker 2 (06:17):
Right, he didn't defended it against Volkanowski. He then defended
it against Volkanowski. Right, then he fought Dustin Pourier, then
he fought uh uh mcne. In those fights, he's at
two four defenses, one championship win.

Speaker 3 (06:35):
Two of those fights or against featherweights.

Speaker 2 (06:38):
Granted it was the number one fighter in the world
at the time Volkanowski. It was so much so that
when those guys fought Ben, they said, this is for
number one pound pound. Remember then Volkanowski fought him pretty
competitive the first time, and then they had like a
split number one pound pound time. Yes, and it's not
knocked him out. And after he knocked him out, all

(07:01):
the talk was about, well, you just knocked out a featherweight.

Speaker 3 (07:04):
You haven't.

Speaker 2 (07:05):
It doesn't lend itself to much. I believe that that's
the pushback that even if you beat the poor you
who has looked so dominant, so unbeatable, people are still
going to say, well, you just beat a featherweight thoughts.

Speaker 1 (07:22):
I mean, if he's vacating a title, he's no longer
a featherweight that that doesn't It's not like he's saying,
let me hold this featherweight belt and let me come up.
He is not holding the featherweight belt. He has vacated
the feather belt. He is no longer a featherweight. That
being said, he was equally as impressive against Volkanovski and
he also knocked out Hallway. Hallway just beat Justin Gaichie,

(07:44):
who is ranked what four three?

Speaker 3 (07:47):
I honestly believe that's who's gonna fight for the belt.
I believe, Yeah, lost two fights ago though Gateche lost. Yeah,
I think it's gonna be Geiche.

Speaker 2 (07:56):
I think that's if I'm a team, I'm asking for
Justin Gaetge because that's a big name fight. It's the
guy that carries a lot of name recognition.

Speaker 3 (08:07):
I think that's gonna be the fight. If I'm being
honest with you.

Speaker 1 (08:10):
Dang, I mean, yeah, that is just pointing, and I
hate it. Why he well, he lost to Halloway and
Andoria is put down Hallway in very impressive fashion. Like
I said, I don't even think it's a hard argument.
I think to Poria is really by far the most
compelling person. I mean, listen, if you didn't have If
Tooria said hey, I'm gonna stay it by the way,

(08:32):
and I'm gonna fight Diego Lopez, then yeah, okay, cool,
let's do judging Gate here. Let's do Charles Olvic because
you're wanting our monster rookian to get a win since
he just pulled out last minute, that that would make
perfect sense. But he has vacated the title. This is
not him trying to keep his featherweight title to come up.
This is he vacated it. He's ready to fight at lightweight.

(08:53):
He has a lightweight he's undefeated, beat legends. Give him
the shot.

Speaker 2 (08:59):
Do you think that that he should win a fight
first or his title fight win in title fight defense
is enough? Because hey, let's think about this. Let's let's
think about this, Ben, Yeah, let's think about this. I
love and I love I love the way Ilia fights.
I think he's phenomenal. I always have to say this

(09:20):
as it like almost as a soft landing spot, so
people don't get mad at me because the truth is
I do like the guy. But he really only had
one title defense, so we talk about the resume that
he has had. Granted, he beat the two greatest featherweights
of all time in my opinion, Yeah, and actually Jose

(09:40):
al those the third. But Jose isn't fighting at the
level any morning. He's fighting one thirty five, But he's
beating two of the three best.

Speaker 1 (09:46):
Can interject one thing there also, and those two, those
two featherweys. Hallway has a very very recent win against
Justin Gatchee, a lightweight at which they competed at lightweight,
right yep. And then Volkanowski had the very competitive about Islamhatchev.
So you have both of those guys also competing at
lightweight and having relatively good results.

Speaker 3 (10:08):
So you don't think that he needs to get a
victory first.

Speaker 1 (10:10):
You think he watched I say, put him in there.

Speaker 2 (10:14):
Yeah, And honestly, I don't think many would have a
problem with it if.

Speaker 3 (10:22):
He did get a championship opportunity.

Speaker 2 (10:24):
I just don't know how to get it together because
and that's why I asked you, how.

Speaker 3 (10:27):
Much of an issue do you think this is going
to become?

Speaker 1 (10:30):
Well, this is where I mean Dana. For as frustrating
as this can be, having someone who is like a
tyrant or a dictator at the top able to force
issues is kind of helpful because it doesn't take a
genius to realize that if Ptporio is vacating and moving,
he's the second best and Mahchev is the first best.
He made them fight, right, and so if number one,

(10:51):
the hot chef doesn't want to fight, you say, hey, dude,
you gotta fight. And then if he says no, screw off,
then it's like, okay, well we're gonna take your belt
and we're gonna put Tapouria against someone else, right, Charles
Alvera for the title shot, and then you can come
back and try to earn it later. Like that's kind
of real. If the number one guy is not being reasonable,
you do kind of have to force the hand. And

(11:12):
that's where boxing has so many issues because there's so
many belts and there's so many guys pulling shenanigans all
the time. It's like one of the great things about
THEDFC is that so very frequently the number one and
then number two they do fight.

Speaker 3 (11:23):
Yep, they do. Yeah, they have to.

Speaker 2 (11:25):
That is what that sounds what the business has been
built on. Yes, fighting each other. Yeah, it's gonna be
interesting to see how this plays out, man. But yes,
I do kind of agree. I think it's gonna be
those two guys. Actually, you know what, No, I don't agree.

Speaker 1 (11:38):
You want to know.

Speaker 3 (11:40):
I'm not saying I want I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (11:41):
Because like you can beat him in golfer, Like if
he lets.

Speaker 2 (11:44):
You Windimore, dude, this dude can't be He lost that fight.
They had two hundred and sixty days left in the year.
He played golf, two hundred and thirty five days of
the year.

Speaker 3 (11:54):
What I swear to God Are you kidding me?

Speaker 2 (11:57):
He played two hundred and thirty five the two hundred
sixty days left in the year.

Speaker 1 (12:01):
Bro, he doesn't have kids down, Huh, he has no kids.

Speaker 2 (12:03):
He has just a single dude with a whole bunch
of money that plays golf all the time. Like it's great,
it's crazy, but he's so good now, Bro, he took
his hands gap from like eleven or twelve down to
seven not even a year.

Speaker 1 (12:17):
Ben, Oh, that's funny.

Speaker 2 (12:20):
Morob d Wallace really beat Sean O'Malley to become the
bannably champion in the world.

Speaker 3 (12:24):
Yeah, it wasn't that competitive a fight.

Speaker 2 (12:27):
Morob then goes on to beat essentially the Boogeyman in
Umar and Mega met off in Los Angeles. So then
you start to wonder who's next.

Speaker 3 (12:35):
Yes, from the final it's.

Speaker 2 (12:37):
Gonna be Sean O'Malley in Newark, New Jersey at the
Prudential Center in May. Does that surprise you that O'Malley
got a title fight or a rematch well out having
a fight.

Speaker 1 (12:50):
Yeah, initially it did surprise me a little bit, but
then I went I looked at the rankings, and I
don't know who else they put in there. Uhb is
beating Sean, He's beating Peter, He's beating Umar. That's number one,
two and three. Sanhagen has a very recent loss, as
does Figuredo, and I believe those two are fighting each other.
That's the top five, Like.

Speaker 2 (13:11):
Was fighting somebody in a in Iowa. The fact that
they're going to do a fight card at iowas a
bit surprising, isn't it.

Speaker 1 (13:16):
That is wild? Des moines Iowa. Right, yea, I thought
course Sanagen was fighting.

Speaker 3 (13:20):
Okay, let me.

Speaker 2 (13:21):
No, no, no, Davidson Figaredo is fighting, Uh somebody else
in Iowa?

Speaker 3 (13:26):
Is that Iowa fight card?

Speaker 1 (13:27):
Let me let me pull up his profile. That was
no course Sanagan.

Speaker 3 (13:33):
San Haagen in Iowa.

Speaker 1 (13:34):
That's what I said.

Speaker 3 (13:36):
I didn't know. I didn't know who the main event was.
I didn't know Davison was fighting.

Speaker 1 (13:39):
So those two are fighting each other. That's four and five.
But both of them have a recent loss. So uh,
Figuredo lost to Peter Jan and Sanagan lost to who
he was? Umar?

Speaker 3 (13:49):
Right lost to Umar? Yep.

Speaker 1 (13:51):
So yeah, so it's really the only thing that makes
a whole lot of sense. Peter Jan is in there also,
but you know, he h he had a more recent
loss to Morob, not more recent than Sean more yeah,
more recent other ones. Yeah, So like tell me.

Speaker 2 (14:10):
Who's seven through ten?

Speaker 1 (14:13):
Alright, seven? You got song you on? Marlon Vera, Rob
fought Henry.

Speaker 3 (14:18):
Just beat Henry Shudo? Right, yes, yeah, Marlon Vera not
chto Nope, Who's who's after that? Rob font Okay, so
song you dog could be the only one. Now granted,
this is why, Now, this is why? Right? Do you
remember Alex Pereira fought Khalil Raalmtree? He was number seven?

Speaker 2 (14:36):
Do you remember when Pantosia fought Steve erg he was
number ten?

Speaker 1 (14:42):
That was Yeah, that was wild that. I don't know
why I think there's needed an opponent, I guess yeah, so.

Speaker 3 (14:48):
I don't know that we're confined to the rankings.

Speaker 1 (14:51):
Look, Yan just beat Yan, just beat you dog. Soon's
actually I won a couple of in a row against
some relatively highly ranked opponents, So maybe he's one you
could potential there.

Speaker 3 (15:01):
Sean beat him. They all just beat each other.

Speaker 2 (15:04):
Yes, that's the craziest thing about one hundred and twenty
thirty five pounds. Yes, they've all beaten each other except Morob.
So when you look at this fight right. The last
fight was at the Sphere in September. Yeprob wins the
fight decision, take down, take down, take down. The only
reason it's surprising to me is for this reason. I'm

(15:27):
not surprised that Sean Omalley gets a title fight because
I know that for all the guys in this division,
he's the one that's most recognizable. He's the one that
carries the most name recognition. He's the one that people
know about more than anyone. But Al Jamaine said, it's
not as impactful as they would make you believe as

(15:47):
a champion in terms of him in paper, view blies
and everything, but he's the most recognizable. And boy, New
New Jersey has had some title fights that have not
been great. They've had some fights go there in May
where it's almost like that made pay per view has
been like one where it's like a reset because the
April was so good, all right, like because Miami's always

(16:07):
awesome in April, then may's kind of like a reset.
Then June and July is usually pretty good.

Speaker 3 (16:14):
The only thing.

Speaker 2 (16:14):
That's worrisome for me if it's Sean O'Malley, what has
he done?

Speaker 3 (16:19):
He supposedly was injured.

Speaker 1 (16:21):
Right then injured for a whole year or something exactly.

Speaker 3 (16:25):
Then that's that's my point.

Speaker 2 (16:28):
He said he was hurt, remember the rotator cuff or
something that was messed up, that he was so hurt,
that was part of the reason he lost, and he
was gonna be away for a while trying to get healthy.
Not only that he lost because he couldn't stop takedowns.
What do you think he has done in the nine
months send the fight to improve that, especially if he

(16:50):
was hurt in the beginning of the recovery where he
couldn't wrestle.

Speaker 3 (16:54):
If you have a bad shoulder.

Speaker 2 (16:55):
You are not wrestling at the level that you need
to wrestle in order.

Speaker 1 (16:59):
You're not wrestling at all.

Speaker 3 (17:00):
You got a really yes.

Speaker 2 (17:03):
Yeah, but even that Ben, even if it's not a
torn rotated cough and it's just a bad shoulder, you're
not wrestling at the level you need to to defend
Morob Yeah.

Speaker 1 (17:13):
And honestly, for Sean, you know, if you look at
his skill set and who he is, I kind of
think it's a bad move. If he gets beat up
by Morab again, then he loses a whole bunch of
attraction because it's like, well, you already lost to a
champ twice, so until the champ goes away, they're not
going to give you a third shot against him. He
could have fought some maybe lower rank guys and just looked,

(17:35):
you know, against guys who can't take him down. He
kind of looks like a real freaking superstar, right. He's
really exciting, very diverse, striking attack, so he could look
really good, built the fight back up into something bigger.
But now I feel like everyone is feeling like you're feeling, hey,
we just saw this. It wasn't competitive. Why do we
need to see this again?

Speaker 3 (17:56):
Yeah, you see, I don't mind. I just I don't
mind seeing it again.

Speaker 2 (18:00):
I My thing was, I thought, and granted I'm not
his coach, I'm not everybody, I thought that in order
for him to really truly been be able to fight
this guy the way that he needs to, we may
be out or out of the out of pocket, and
we may not know what he's doing.

Speaker 3 (18:17):
But my thought was, charl Ovalley.

Speaker 2 (18:20):
Should maybe go to Ben Askons Wrestling Academy, get some
wrestling shoes, and literally just wrestle.

Speaker 1 (18:28):
A couple of years ago, I remember that he would come.

Speaker 2 (18:30):
In Phoenix, go to Valiant it's there. Yeah, right, Literally
put on some wrestling shoes and understand all the spots
in between in wrestling, because that is where that's where
fighters struggled.

Speaker 3 (18:43):
Man, it's not the initial takedown.

Speaker 2 (18:45):
You and I both know from fighting in the octagon
and wrestling at the international level. The problem with scoring
at international level is at step one. Those guys can
defend step two, they can defend step three, taken defend
in every little inch in the middle, they can defend.

Speaker 3 (19:04):
In fighting, that's not the case, right.

Speaker 2 (19:06):
You could actually go run a pipe step across, bang
them with the head. You can do so many different things,
and you only developed that in a wrestling room.

Speaker 3 (19:16):
I thought for Sean to truth and I'm not saying
he's gonna lose.

Speaker 2 (19:19):
It can still knock him out, but I thought for
him to make sure that that doesn't happen again, he
would need to get into a full wrestling environment to
try to work on those skills in between the take
down a tips.

Speaker 1 (19:29):
And that that's something that you know a lot of
fighters that I know, it's hard to humble yourself that much.
And then you know, go in there and get your
kids for a while Yeah, I mean honestly, like those
kids are valiant, would probably beat Sean. Certainly, they would
beat Sean. The college kids would certainly beat him. It's

(19:50):
hard to humble yourself and do that. And then, I mean,
the thing I think about is that you're gonna have
to do it. It's not like you do for a
week and you do it for like a year's Yeah,
I was in many months, but yeah, you would probably
be sufficient.

Speaker 3 (20:03):
Ideal.

Speaker 1 (20:04):
Ideal. Yeah, so I wish Sean would have taken some
more time in PRUDG wrestling, but he still does. He
has dynamic striking, he has knockout capabilities. Now, Morob has
been relatively unstoppable looking in his last handful of fights.

Speaker 3 (20:17):
You know.

Speaker 1 (20:17):
The other one I was just kind of playing around
while you were talking is Pantosia hasn't actually lost since
twenty twenty. He's been on I think it's like an
eight or nine fight win streak. That would be an
interesting one, maybe to see him bump up against Morob.
Although as dominants Morob is maybe you don't really give
him too much of a chance, but maybe that can

(20:38):
make it exciting.

Speaker 3 (20:39):
He's too small, He's just too small. For Morob. Yeahs small,
he's small. Yeah, you could tell Morob's big. Dude. He's
like thick, like he's got a big old change. He
looks like a wrestler.

Speaker 1 (20:49):
You know who's been coming out to my gym. Who
he's number fifteen. But this guy, Montel Jackson.

Speaker 2 (20:54):
I know monteen. I met Montel at that camp way
back in the day.

Speaker 1 (21:02):
Yeah, that was like twenty was it twenty nineteen or something?

Speaker 2 (21:05):
You dude, when I was in Wisconsin for something, you
had me do a clinic and you had all the
kids and Montel was in there.

Speaker 3 (21:11):
I was like a little boy that had an idea
that he wanted to fight.

Speaker 1 (21:14):
He was still a high school kid at that time.

Speaker 3 (21:16):
I don't know, I don't know how old he was,
but he was young, like he was young.

Speaker 1 (21:20):
Yeah, well he still own how old he is. Yeah,
I remember he doesn't say his birthday on here, but
he's been coming out. He is a gigantic featherweight. Like
you know, it's really funny and I know, I know
obviously you know this from wrestling. Like you see the
high school kids, they're like, oh my gosh, making one
thirty two is so hard, and you know, they've been
cutting a lot the way. Yeah, but then you see
them standing next to him and you're like, that guy

(21:41):
makes one thirty five. You're complaining about one thirty two.
But he's like a giant compared to you, Like he
makes you look like a runt, Like you don'top your whining.

Speaker 3 (21:50):
Wait, they'll do you. You don't have kids come.

Speaker 1 (21:52):
Much, not much, so when they have to start cutting
a little bit, you know, it's like, oh, I don't
know if I can make that or whatever. And then
it's like, but since he's been out there, I'm like, hey, guys,
that guy's won thirty five.

Speaker 2 (22:01):
And then you can show him that and they're like,
okay that, yeah, okay, maybe I'm not cutting as hard
as yeah as I think Johnny Walker in I had
Johnny Walker into my gym for a while. He's he's
crazy man. He comes in and wrestles, but he's humbling himself. Dude,
he's got no takedown and four months he's been there
four months he has gotten one takedown. But he's okay

(22:23):
with it, right, He's like, I know that I'm improving.

Speaker 3 (22:26):
Yeah. It's nuts too, because they feel the way that
we train. It's overtraining.

Speaker 2 (22:33):
I'm like, Bro, I tell you, if you can get
through this, I promise you you're gonna be better for it.

Speaker 3 (22:38):
Or I've been before. I let you go. Hey, Bro,
it's true. It's true Connor McGregor that he's done. Bro.

Speaker 2 (22:46):

Speaker 2 (24:12):
Matt Brown, though, said that he had it right. He said,
Connor told us he was done ten years ago. He said,
he told us like ten years ago what he was
going to do. Brown said, do you remember him talking
about it. I'm going to come in, I'm going to
take over, I'm going to make money, and I'm going
to get them out. He said something along the lines

(24:33):
of this game is brutal. You don't want to be
in it too long. He told us, Harbur many eight
ten years ago. He literally told us, And that's exactly.

Speaker 3 (24:42):
What he has done. So is Connor a genius? Like?

Speaker 2 (24:45):
Was Connor actually a genius? Like he knew you can't
stay long? So he wasn't here for a long time.

Speaker 3 (24:50):
He was here for a good time.

Speaker 1 (24:52):
Well, I mean, I am a big fan. I'm not
staying fighting for a long time, and it is it's
a tough career and probably not something you should be
in forever. That being said, you know, I do recall
him saying that. But it's been funny because you know,
he's been in and out of the fighting thing for
for a while, right, he took a couple of years off,
he came back and for Dustin Poitier, and you know,

(25:12):
I thought cowboy I guess one time also, And now
he's been, you know, teasing comeback. He even went as
far as filming The Ultimate Fighter. That's not like he
showed up for thirty minutes, right, he filmed the whole season. Yeah,
so he had to have at least an idea that, hey,
I'm probably gonna come back because I don't think Dana
pay pays you guys that well. But it's the build

(25:33):
up of your personality and future earnings and that type
of stuff. Yeah, so I think he had an attention.

Speaker 2 (25:39):
In that Dana just pays everything, Dana White think. So
do you think Dana just pays everything? You just said,
I don't know that Dana pays you guys that well
to do the Ultimate Fighter?

Speaker 3 (25:49):
So do you think Dana just like pays everything?

Speaker 1 (25:52):
What do you mean pays everything?

Speaker 3 (25:53):
But you think that.

Speaker 2 (25:54):
Every check that comes out of the UFC or anything
associated with the UFC comes from data.

Speaker 1 (26:00):
I think any large amount listen data. I just told
you he was a tyrant a little bit ago. I
think yes, he says yes and no all these things. No, no,
if you if you got a check and they didn't
know about it, he'd be like, Daniel, give that ship
back right now.

Speaker 3 (26:15):
So you so you don't think that for the Ultimate Fighter?

Speaker 2 (26:19):
Maybe like you get paid by Poligion, the company that
does the Ultimate Fighter, and stead.

Speaker 1 (26:24):
Of course that's who you get paid by. But like
you guys all THESS tyrant.

Speaker 3 (26:30):
You guys all think that data phase everything. It's kind
of crazy. The idea of people the way to view
the UFC.

Speaker 1 (26:36):
Well, I mean if if if that's not I mean
in my experiences, in my experiences, that's how it has been.
And if that has changed or I'm incorrect, then data
does a very good job of making him seem like
he is in charge of all the things.

Speaker 3 (26:51):
Yeah, No, he can't. It's it's too big.

Speaker 2 (26:53):
Everything's too big, like at this point to him to
do everything. But okay, Connor Gregor, Yeah, Matt Brown was right.
Matt Brown was right. Connor did say those things, and
and uh, we should have saw it coming.

Speaker 3 (27:04):
Well we didn't see coming.

Speaker 2 (27:05):
I think the only person that saw it coming is
you and the politics, like Ben, you.

Speaker 3 (27:09):
Were joking, bro, you were always talking about it.

Speaker 1 (27:12):
But yeah, I didn't think he's actually to try to
be the president.

Speaker 3 (27:16):
Well, is he gonna try to be the president or
he's gonna try to be something else?

Speaker 1 (27:19):
No, I think he's a president.

Speaker 3 (27:21):
That's so crazy. He can't win. Kenny, I reread they
hate him over there.

Speaker 1 (27:25):
I get. I guess we'll I guess we'll figure it out.

Speaker 2 (27:28):
Hey, hold on a second, justin Uh, Hey, I'm doing
a store. I'm doing my show real quick. We've been
asking real quick is kind of going to become the
president of Ireland. No, I was calling you before I started,
and then Ben and I started talking about fighting, and

(27:49):
then I was telling Ben that I think you're gonna
get a title fight next to all this. But I figured,
well I'll answer, and since we're on that topic, I'm
just asking you, is he going to be the president
of Ireland?

Speaker 3 (28:00):
Terrible question? Terrible question?

Speaker 1 (28:03):
Ask ask Justin if he would be okay being governed
by Connor McGregor.

Speaker 2 (28:07):
He said, he doesn't know shit about Ireland, Ben, and
he doesn't care.

Speaker 3 (28:11):
This is Justigatschen. He said, America, Baby, Hey, jg let
me call you afterward. I want to talk about golf
in Florida. All right, buye Ben? Could you hear him?

Speaker 1 (28:22):
Yeah, he goes out on a terrible question.

Speaker 3 (28:24):
He's so crazy about Ireland. America, Baby, this is crazy. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (28:30):
I don't think he becomes the president. But we won't
spend too much time on this because it seems like
people are kind of over Connor McGregor. It's kind of crazy,
Like for a while, you wanted Connor McGregor in every
single segment of your show, but it seems like people
don't care anymore, like are they in They're probably just
didn't considered he's just a politician. Now, hey, do you
think the president being at the NCAA tournament added to

(28:52):
the ratings?

Speaker 1 (28:53):
Hell?

Speaker 3 (28:53):
Yeah you do? Huh absolutely, yeah, I think so a
little bit. I mean how much? Yeah, because it was.

Speaker 1 (28:59):
Like it was the most viewed in what ten years
for the final fifteen years? Fifteen years?

Speaker 3 (29:05):
Nice, almost a million people watch the NCAA finals.

Speaker 1 (29:07):
Yeah that was awesome.

Speaker 3 (29:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (29:09):
I hit both him and Elon there and yeah, it
definitely added to the spectacle of everything. And then the finish,
which you know, I thought you were incorrecting, but the finishing,
the way it finished, I did not see that one coming.

Speaker 3 (29:24):
It was none of us.

Speaker 1 (29:25):
You wrote the script. It was quite the swerve. Had
you really got us on that one, Daniel, You're not
sure you might have wrote it.

Speaker 2 (29:35):
Do you remember before I called you asking about it
because everybody was so mad about the order. I was
been because you're my resident like wrestling insider. Any time
I have like a super wrestling question, I go to
you and you were like, no, don't like it, can't
stand it. And how about why Hereterson? He won the
freaking Hodge Trophy.

Speaker 3 (29:53):
That's so crazy.

Speaker 1 (29:55):
Yeah, I mean, you know, given prior results of Wyatt,
I don't know, it didn't really make sense to give
him a chance. But I guess that's why he wrestled
the matches. If you look at his results from say,
last year, where he lost to a younger Bestita and
then wasn't super competitive with Greg kirk Fleet, you know,
the idea of him upsetting Gable, in my opinion, was

(30:17):
far fetched.

Speaker 3 (30:18):
Yeah, it was far fetched.

Speaker 1 (30:19):
He went out, he went out there, and he made
it happen. And yeah, I mean, I want to say
it was. I obviously wasn't alive for a long time
after the Gable owing, so I can't tell you because
I wasn't there the actual magnitude of the shock of that.
But from what I said, it was the biggest ever
But of my lifetime falling wrestling, I cannot think of

(30:39):
a more shocking ncaive result. Matt Ramos respectively is not
as shocking because matt Ramos had him on his back
twice early in the duel of that year, so you
can see a path for that happened. Yes, this one
Gable had n't. His last loss was twenty nineteen.

Speaker 2 (30:54):
He was just so he's so good. So he's so good,
Like that's the It's like sometimes she had got it.
He just knows how to wrestle, and he's like he's
so good that you just didn't think it could happen. Hey, Ben,
I gotta tip my cap to you before before we go,
I saw a picture of you and Kegan o'too walking
out of the arena. Dude, that was awesome, bro, like
the fact that you guys have such a strong relationship.
And then he lost and uh, he but he's injured,

(31:18):
Make no mistake about it.

Speaker 3 (31:19):
He was injured.

Speaker 2 (31:21):
Only Kegan o'too could have gotten to the NAA Finals
with that injury.

Speaker 3 (31:25):
But I saw you too, walking back in the balls.

Speaker 2 (31:27):
Of the arena as you were leaving, and you kind
of had your hand on his shoulder, and I don't
know how you keep it together in that moment, Ben,
I would cry if I gotta walk Cody Merrow back
or or one of my guys back, knowing what they
went through, I would feel as though I'm touching that
like I'm touching that little kid on the back, that
little boy not a man, right, because you kind of
see him in that vein at times.

Speaker 1 (31:49):
Yeah, I mean that's uh, you know, I was thinking,
uh about tear up. I did tear up with my wife.
But it's like I remember when he was fifteen and
he lost out for his first year at you seventeen's
and I don't remember why, but I think everyone else
was done already at that point and they had hal
left to go back to the Airbnb where everyone was staying,
and like he was just sitting there crying, and it
was like, uh, you know, it was like a flashback

(32:10):
to that. It's like I had been such a big
part of this guy's life for you know, I was
a decade ago or something, I don't know, And it
was so, you know, so cool to watch him come
all the way through. And you know, as a coach,
you get to be there in some great moments, but
you gotta be there some shitty mateo, and you know
it's like, hey, I'm here for you, And if you

(32:31):
just want to sit there and cry, that's that's what
you get to do. You know, you put your life
into this.

Speaker 3 (32:36):
Yeah, it was awesome. It was awesome.

Speaker 2 (32:37):
Been congratulations man, you guys crush him this year again
at the NAA Tournament Guys for ben ask It, I'm
Daniel Cormier.

Speaker 3 (32:43):
Until next time, Peace,
