Speaker 1 (00:01):

Speaker 2 (00:12):
What's up guys.

Speaker 3 (00:13):
Hey, I'm excited to welcome to the DC check in
main event.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
Jay Usso just off winning the Royal Rumble this weekend.
What's up, my guy?

Speaker 4 (00:23):
What up?

Speaker 1 (00:23):
DC man? Thanks for having me on here with you.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
Man all good man. They told me it was on
Club five twenty the other day too with the boys.

Speaker 1 (00:31):
Yeah they're funny. That was Dallas fun too. That was
real fun.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
Yeah they cool guys.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
Hey, man, so two days ago Royal Rumble, we all
watching the world's watching seventy five thousand in the building Indianapolis.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
You win the Raw Rumble? How have you processed these
last couple of days?

Speaker 3 (00:50):
Because I remember winning big things over the course of
my career and it took days to kind of come
down from it, Like, how have you processed what you
did the other day?

Speaker 4 (01:01):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (01:01):
To be honest, it was I did the Rumble Saturday.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
Yeah, Saturday kind.

Speaker 4 (01:06):
Of didn't you know register with me yet. Sunday I
got a four and a half hour drive to Cleveland
to get the raw you know, my son, and I'm
over here asking him, man, what you want to eat?

Speaker 1 (01:18):
You know, Like I just switch hats right quick.

Speaker 4 (01:22):
So I've been on all Saturday just being being daddy
mode and now I'm back on grind mode Monday doing
all the asking me, all the questions and stuff. But
it hasn't it hasn't. It hasn't locked in yet, Loos
until I think when I go home tomorrow and yeah,
then calms down. I'm back home with the family. I
feel like that's why I'll be sitting in my living

(01:44):
room and you know, just.

Speaker 1 (01:47):
Yeah, you know what.

Speaker 3 (01:49):
The crazy thing about it when I would when I
would fight on Saturday, when I get home, it was
almost like out of the hustling bustle of the fight,
and then you kind of just get back to yourself.
But then the quiet moments when you could kind of
take it all in and you're like, man, I actually
did that. And I think when you go back and
you have those moments to yourself, you're gonna be real
proud of what you did, man, because I've watched it's

(02:11):
been a long journey.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
To get to where you were.

Speaker 3 (02:14):
And Michael Cole said something Saturday that was so uh true.
He says, it's not no longer a moniker. He truly
is Maine event ja, so as he's gonna wrestle. May
have it wrestled, man, how many times have you watched
it since? Don't lie either, how many times have you
watched it since? Since this weekend?

Speaker 1 (02:33):
Now?

Speaker 4 (02:33):
I see I haven't watched this, but I see it
a couple of Clinton you know, the on X and
you know Instagram. But man, Michael Cole's good at like
them little some dope man.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
So I appreciate Michael Cole. Man.

Speaker 4 (02:47):
I was just talking to him earlier on the Pat mcafeechhell,
talking about he gotta get his his dafts right, man,
because he does.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
He does.

Speaker 3 (02:53):
He should stop dancing. Hey, bro, let me tell you something.
He's just stopped dancing that. Even told him that, and
he said, man, y'all off rhythm. He's I don't even care.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
Hey, even even the DAP game, even the handshakes.

Speaker 4 (03:07):
I'm like, bro, if you're gonna dap all these rappers up,
you better get your DA game up.

Speaker 1 (03:12):
Michael Cole, Come on.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
Bro, you gotta do something.

Speaker 4 (03:15):
Bro.

Speaker 2 (03:16):
You out here just shaking hands wrong. It's one of
those weird handshakes while you catch the back.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
Of his head. That's bad.

Speaker 4 (03:21):
That's bad. It's bad. I've seen them all with him,
and Kibo. I said, oh no, hey, man, now, we
gotta fix we gotta fix you. We gotta fix that
jumping jack yeats he's doing. I don't even know what
that is with him. I'm like, okay, I feel you,
I feel you, Mike.

Speaker 3 (03:38):
So Pat So Pat's actually pretty good. But then one
week at raw when they were they were somewhere, he
wasn't there. He was at the National Championship and it
was just cold and nobody to keep him on rhythm.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
But bro, let's talk a little bit about your career.

Speaker 1 (03:52):
Man.

Speaker 3 (03:53):
You have been in the game for a while, right,
your whole families, Like in this game, I always wonder,
right because my son now is thirteen years old, I
am not going to encourage him to fight now he
does wrestle because I wrestled my whole life. But in
your family, is it a conversation like, hey, I want

(04:15):
you to be a professional wrestler. I think that your future.
Is that something that you guys come up with as
you age.

Speaker 4 (04:21):
Yeah, DC, if I could be honest, man, like, my
parents didn't want none of us to wrestle. Really, they
know what that lifestyle is, like, they know the time
sacrifice away you know, being on the road is one
of the hardest things like in this business, especially like
back in that time, and it was crazy. It was
five days out the week, wrestling home two days. The

(04:43):
schedule is a little bit lighter now as far as
wrestling on the body, but the travel game is still there.
All the sides, all the side hustle stuff is still there.
But it was never it was one day, I'm gonna
wake up and go wrestle.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
Yeah, but I thought.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
It was regular.

Speaker 4 (04:58):
I thought everyone's dad's was on TV because all my
uncles were, you know, I'd be at home. I thought
it was like everyone's dad go wrestled. You know, that's
how that's how a lot because all our uncles just wrestled.
It was that's all we knew until you kind of
get a little older, like you get smart to in
middle school. I remember one time when I kind of
when I kind of knew, like what I saw my

(05:20):
dad talking to like the guy he just he just wrestled.
I remember seeing that, like my mind blowing, like what
you guys just wrestled? Was what's going on here? And
then you know, saying I got out of college just
you know, into the real world. Had a regular job
for like three years, and it's almost you know, you
start getting big, you know, you know you don't work
out as much, and now you just got to look

(05:41):
at yourself and and and lock in. And that's that's
when it clicked.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
Man. You know what, I know, we always had wrestling
to fall back on. It.

Speaker 4 (05:49):
My dad will always hey, y'all, go out there and
do your thing, wrestle. The door will always be right
here whenever you are ready.

Speaker 1 (05:55):
To walk in.

Speaker 4 (05:56):
And uh, that's how we got it. If I could
save my kids. I got a nineteen year old. He's
in college. He goes to Morehouse College and at left
Man Great King.

Speaker 2 (06:06):
It's like it's not like a HBCU.

Speaker 4 (06:09):
Yeah, yes, sir, full academic scholarship DC. Like he's the
best kid man. He'll tap into wrestling every now and then,
but he don't watch it every week, you know, because
he's doing his own thing. And then the little one
that I have with me. I bought him in the
ring with me on Saturday. I got him here on
Monday night.

Speaker 1 (06:26):
Raw. He loves this man. He wants to be like me.

Speaker 4 (06:29):
He wants to be like Dom and Raymond Stereo second
Man they're in Sun Tag Team Champion, that he the wrestler.

Speaker 1 (06:36):
I'm like eighteen, he's like five more years.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
Yeah, he's a thirteen year old.

Speaker 3 (06:42):
Yeah that's cool, man, because what you guys have done
as a family and the wrestling business is not like
anything I've ever seen before. And obviously, growing up down
in the South, wrestling was king for all of us,
so we saw all of your family as they went through.

Speaker 2 (06:56):
So Saturday Night, right, let's get back to the rumble
a little bit.

Speaker 3 (06:59):
Saturday Night, you're in there with Logan, Paul, John Cena,
CM Punk Roman, Reigns, and Seth Robins.

Speaker 2 (07:08):
Bro.

Speaker 3 (07:09):
There is not many people watching or in that arena
that believe that Jay Usso is gonna be the guy
that is last standing. And then John Cena's in there
last I'm like, oh, here we go again. Right, It's
like you Cormos, lose hope that John Cena's going over, right,
he's on his retirement tour. But then he puts you over,
raising your hand, gives you the big hug and everything,

(07:31):
Like what was.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
The feeling when you heard? Hey man?

Speaker 3 (07:34):
You actually because main event to WrestleMania is one thing,
and you've done that already.

Speaker 2 (07:38):
I was there in LA when you.

Speaker 3 (07:40):
Guys fall for the tag team championship, but to fight
for the world title to eliminate John Cena last, Like,
what was that?

Speaker 2 (07:48):
How did you accept that news when you got it?

Speaker 1 (07:52):
Man? I was. I was humble, man, and I knew
as soon as they told me it was me.

Speaker 4 (07:58):
They told me like halfway during the day Saturday, Man,
you know, they hey, we need the last four to
come in here. You know, I'm last for you know,
I see who's with me? I'm you know, yeah, yeah,
they let.

Speaker 1 (08:10):
Me know, man.

Speaker 4 (08:11):
And then automatically like I was like, man, you know,
I was shawed up. My brothers. Hey, you know they
told him what it was and I knew. I liked it.

Speaker 1 (08:21):
It was because I knew, not one person the arena,
I think it's going to be me.

Speaker 2 (08:26):
Yeah yeah yeah.

Speaker 1 (08:27):
So I like that's that's a swerve.

Speaker 4 (08:29):
I like, just like on Monday Night Raw against Brown Breaker,
one of the hottest upcoming superstars.

Speaker 1 (08:35):
He's not going to beat him on a Monday Night Row.

Speaker 2 (08:37):
No, for sure.

Speaker 4 (08:37):
Then you won the title, yeah, and they go crazy, man,
They everybody went crazy. So that that's the emotion that
I like to pump to the fans, man, like we
got a swerve because everyone's smart today.

Speaker 1 (08:47):
Everyone thinks they know. I ain't got no damn clue. Man.

Speaker 4 (08:51):
I like to just I just let y'all enjoy the show.
It was like, enjoy enjoy what we do, you know,
like it's entertainment.

Speaker 1 (09:00):
It's fun.

Speaker 3 (09:01):
Man.

Speaker 1 (09:01):
I mean when you're there with us, like it's a
it's it's it's it's just you just gotta be there
with us. Man, it's a great show. Man. I love this.
I love what we do.

Speaker 3 (09:12):
You know, chall is the biggest mark of all time.
And this dude think he know everything. So he before
we leave, he telling me who's gonna win and everything.
And when when it's not expected, it's the best. Like
when Roman beat Cody Rose in LA, everybody was so mad.
I was so happy because it just made it remain fresh.

Speaker 2 (09:31):
Now you know who.

Speaker 3 (09:32):
Wasn't happy when y'all lost the tag team titles. Bro,
I got a nephew named little Jammel. This dude loves
the USOS more than anybody in the world.

Speaker 2 (09:42):
Dog. He key, he was doing this. I was working
for ESPN doing post fight.

Speaker 3 (09:47):
This dude is crying, Bro, This little dude is at
the desk crying.

Speaker 2 (09:51):
He was that hurt.

Speaker 3 (09:53):
He was that hurt by y'all losing them championships. But
that emotion is what you want to draw out of people,
like when you can come to when you can make
contact with your fans, not something that we get to
do very often as fighters. When you make contact with
your fans and they have that tie to you, that's
got to feel specialty.

Speaker 1 (10:12):
Man.

Speaker 4 (10:13):
I'm the man of the people now, I'm the people.
I'm the new People's champ now or will be. But
I do love the people, man, because I feel like
they watched me raise up. They watched my whole story, yeah,
in front of them, And I was never supposed to
be like the top guy. The top guy they chose me.
It was Mark Henry just said that on their podcast. Man,
that people chose Jay yesterday. That's why it's working for him.

(10:37):
And they're not shoving nobody down, nobody, no one's throat.

Speaker 1 (10:40):
Man.

Speaker 4 (10:40):
They watched, they watched me work, and I feel like
they can they can resent with that.

Speaker 2 (10:47):
Yeah, isn't it? Isn't it odd? Though?

Speaker 3 (10:48):
Like you you when you and your brother decided to
go solo, you get a new song, A bro, who
wrote that song?

Speaker 2 (10:57):
And is that you performing that song?

Speaker 1 (10:59):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (10:59):
It was come on you, Yeah, that shit is hard,
so I'm not gonna even lie to you. Like when
you start playing basketball games and everything. I was like, Yo,
that song is hard. Your brother's song is hard.

Speaker 1 (11:13):
Too, which brother? Because solo and solo no solo came.

Speaker 2 (11:22):
Yeah, but I'm talking about Jimmy. Jimmy shit is hard too.

Speaker 1 (11:25):
Yeah, that's Jimmy on there.

Speaker 2 (11:27):
No, his his walkout song is cool too.

Speaker 3 (11:30):
But you get the song right, you start just kind
of being more yourself and that's what people are drawn to.
Now you find yourself with this option right to go
and main event WrestleMania as a singles wrestler. You just
said it yourself. This was not supposed to be me.
I didn't get shoved down people's throat. They chose me
right when you make that walk at WrestleMania, right, and

(11:52):
you're in Las Vegas because A I can't wait to
be up in there.

Speaker 2 (11:55):
I'm gonna be up in there.

Speaker 3 (11:56):
Front row, ready to go when you make that walk, bro, Like,
how much can you take it in that? Wow? This
is everything we dreamed of, especially having a father that
was in the game that never reached those heights. So
it's almost like you're not only doing this for you,
but you do it for your dad, you do it
for Solo, you do it for Jimmy, Like, how much

(12:17):
can you take that in when you're gonna make that
walk in WrestleMania, Man, you just.

Speaker 1 (12:22):
Gave me goods bumps, like even thinking about that.

Speaker 4 (12:25):
But man, I feel like it was you know, as
a fighter, I feel like like you're thinking about it
all the way up and then so as soon as
the music hits and you walk through the curtain, it's
almost like it all disappears like it's gold time now. Yeah,
And I'm gonna just I'm gonna just be locked in
here so much that I think it's gonna be just

(12:46):
like how I feel about the rumbos after after after
it happens that I can just breathe and kind of
take it in.

Speaker 1 (12:53):
It was.

Speaker 4 (12:54):
I hope hopefully, man, hopefully, man, I'm the I will
get this w Like, I don't know who I'm going
against us, but.

Speaker 1 (13:01):
I my dad was never a world champ. You know.

Speaker 4 (13:04):
My uncle's uh oh mago was never world champ. It
was only Roman reigns and Yokozuna yep, and and to
when the Royal Rumbo was only Roman reigns yoko Zuna sorry,
and the Rock too.

Speaker 1 (13:18):
And now now I could be added to the to
those three.

Speaker 3 (13:21):
Man, look at those names that you would be added
to in your legacy of your family.

Speaker 2 (13:27):
That's that's massive.

Speaker 1 (13:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (13:29):
So I'm just man, I'm ready, I'm I'm humbled at
be in this position, loose, and I'm not gonna let
nothing stop me.

Speaker 1 (13:35):
I'm not gonna, not gonna, I'm gonna. I just know, I.

Speaker 4 (13:40):
Know, I'm I'm I'm grateful for this, man, and I'm
just not gonna let nobody down. Man, I want to
put on for the people we in Las Vegas. Like
you said, Oh man, you know how many some moms
out there?

Speaker 3 (13:52):
Dude, I'm telling you it's crazy. So you're three months
from Mania. Now is WrestleMania season official?

Speaker 1 (14:00):
Right?

Speaker 3 (14:00):
There are a couple more pls before elimination Chamber.

Speaker 2 (14:04):
How do you keep the momentum right?

Speaker 3 (14:06):
How do you continue to build as you head into
April where you hope to become a world champion?

Speaker 1 (14:12):
Man, same way I've been doing the DC like every week,
I lock it loo, I saw you.

Speaker 3 (14:17):
I actually saw you in San Jose where you was
about to go out and you still put you with
my son. Gracious what your time as always, but you
were like, I'm trying to get I want to I
want to be me and I want to be ready
when I step out there.

Speaker 4 (14:30):
You have to, man, man, just just just every single
every single Monday night Raw or Friday Night SmackDown lows,
I lock in that night.

Speaker 1 (14:40):
I don't.

Speaker 4 (14:40):
I don't, I don't, I don't go like this. I'm
gonna save that for next week. I give it all
one that night and then I'll figure out next week
and then they don't have to up my game that week.
So I'm gonna do that all the way to wrestle Manias,
and I'm on my high horse now. It was like
I punched my ticket to wrestle me. I ain't got it,

(15:02):
I'm not half. Half the stress is off me now. Yeah, yeah,
it's time to have fun. But also also also stay
in the gym oos. Then be careful when I'm wrestling,
like I'm you know, don't don't get hurt. Yeah, man,
stay away from waffle house kind of damn. I know
they got OHI yo, man, I'm like.

Speaker 3 (15:23):
You like waffle walls, bro, and come on, it was
love can I'll be honest, like ile, I used to
love waffle House when I was growing up in Louisiana.
I was in uh, North Carolina recently final waffle House went.

Speaker 2 (15:37):
I was disappointed. Bro. I swear to God to kill
my youth.

Speaker 4 (15:41):
Okay, look look look DC, hold on, Okay, now, waffle
Houses is fifty fifty though, mano.

Speaker 1 (15:47):
Ass waffle Houses in there. It was, Yeah, you gotta
judge it.

Speaker 4 (15:51):
It might be dirty in there, but you know it's okay,
but it is fifty fifty.

Speaker 1 (15:55):
But I'm gonna tell you it was. If it hit,
it hit. But yeah they missed, it missed.

Speaker 3 (16:01):
When it miss and missed. But the cheese grits at
waffle House, Like, you know, I love to eat too.
Why ain't some mooling but I love to eat up
from the South.

Speaker 2 (16:11):
Look.

Speaker 3 (16:11):
Look, so I'm kind of like a basic dude, Like
I don't like the moons over my hand.

Speaker 2 (16:15):
Me thing.

Speaker 3 (16:15):
I like like some eggs, some bacon, some cheese grits.
I love cheese grits at waffle house, and I'll get
some bacon bits inside the cheese grits.

Speaker 2 (16:24):
Hey, bro, I'm a fat boy. I love eating.

Speaker 1 (16:28):
Hash brows.

Speaker 3 (16:29):
I do get hash, I do get hash browns, but
I don't get like the Hasbrons with all the stuff
in it.

Speaker 2 (16:34):
You get the hasbrous with all the.

Speaker 4 (16:35):
Stuff in it, man, triple hash brown, old, scattered, covered
and smother. Come on now, cheese and onions?

Speaker 1 (16:42):
