Speaker 2 (00:21):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
All right, here we go wild first hour. Stop me
if you've heard this before. The Jets just fired a
coach fifth and eleven years. Jamac beside himself live in
Los Angeles. It's the Herd, Nick right in five minutes,
hurt hierarchy, Top ten teams in the league in a second.
So how are you feeling an hour after discovering your

(00:49):
circus of a football team only missing a tent and
and a lion tamer. What is your view this morning
on the Jet?

Speaker 3 (00:56):
It's interested using circus. I thought it was more dumpster fire,
but circus also applies because it's always something crazy.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
Every circus has talent. Yeah, you have talent.

Speaker 3 (01:08):
Listen. I think what we've come to is I need
to get to the point where I need to buy
the Jets, and I need to start making the decisions
because Woody Johnson, we know he doesn't. How do you
fire your coach, don't let him address the team and
then escort him out of the building. Did he deserve that?
I know he hasn't won any gains and he hasn't
been a great coach, But that just feels not right,
doesn't it.

Speaker 1 (01:28):
Yeah, it feels not right. You didn't even have to add,
doesn't it. No, it's not right.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
All right?

Speaker 1 (01:34):
We do it every week top ten teams. I don't
know if I can top last week it was announced
I think globally it was the best heard hierarchy ever.
So try to top myself. Here we go.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
Heard hierarchy, No go the top ten NFL teams. According
to Colin.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
It may be my weakest number ten team ever. The
Dallas Cowboys. They're three and zero on the road. Pittsburgh
handed him the game. But you know what they're doing
it without Micah and DeMarcus Lawrence. And you know I've
said this before. I watched Kirk Cousins on Thursday night
and Dak Prescott, you know, on Sunday night. You know

(02:14):
you can never tell his mood. Dak hadn't played well.
Ceedee Lamb disappeared and Dak figures out a way to win.
So there's a lot of things I don't like. I
don't think they're close to a super Bowl team. But
they have a winning record. That's something. And they're three
and zero on the road, and that's something. And I
do think McCarthy and Dak get along. That wasn't the

(02:36):
case with the Jets. That's why they made a coaching move.
So I'll put him at ten, number nine, and now
I proudly put the Falcons at nine. I like this team.
They've won three of their last four, only lost comes
to the Chiefs. All three have come with Kirk Cousins
in game winning drives. I already thought he was a
great fit. I have no problem Penic's being on the bench.
I like their O line, their run game. Raheem Morris

(02:58):
is an offensive, friendly defense coach who I think grew
with Sean McVay. I like this team. I picked him
to win the AFC South. I picked him to be
a potential number one seed in the NFC and win
twelve games. They are what I thought they were, number nine,
number eight, the Bills.

Speaker 4 (03:16):
You know.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
The minute I like him, I mean they have lost
to the Ravens and Texans after the Chiefs. Those could
be the two best teams maybe in the af SE.
They're losing to the right teams, but they've been held
under three hundred yards three of the last four games.
I don't want to hear about excuses that you were
missing a slot receiver from Boise State. Kansas City won
last night over four hundred yards, missing all sorts of

(03:38):
people and making Juju Smith Schuster Jerry Rice. I don't
want to hear about it. This team is inconsistent. I
don't like their game management. They're a little banged up,
and they're losing the good team, so I'll still put
them at number eight, number seven. The Texans beat them.
Only lost this year came on the road against the Vikings,
so they're four and one. I think they're a bit
immature and young. They lead the NFL in penalties. I

(04:00):
think they have the potential to beat themselves in a
big game. I think the Joe Mixon injury hurt c J. Stroud.
I mean, look at Caleb Williams. Now the Bears can
run the ball a little bit. He looked pretty good,
doesn't he. I think C J. Stroud is excellent, one
of the guys in the league I like to watch,
but I do think Joe Mixon's absence. I mean, by
the way, there's a reason the Bengals defense is bad.
Part of it is ball control. They have to score

(04:22):
through the air. They score quickly. Joe Mixon's been underrated.
I like the Texans. I'll put him at seven, number six.
I may have the Packers a little low at six.
They could be better, but after that ugly pick six
against the Rams, Jordan Love at one hundred and forty
passer rating. The defense leads the NFL with forty five
big plays. We love their tight end wide receiver grouping.

(04:44):
That Craft kid is something else. They also lead the
NFL in takeaways. That's rare for the Packers, so they
make big plays on both sides of the ball. Again,
I think they're probably better than six. They just I'm
getting hams, I'm getting quarters. I love them instead of
a full game. But let's put him at six, number five.
I don't think the Commanders were a fluke. I said
I thought they'd make the playoffs going into the season,

(05:06):
and I think basically what we said with Jaden Daniels,
we said he was gonna be Lamar Jackson light. I
just didn't think he would be Lamar Jackson light in
September and October of his rookie year. I think he's
for real. I think he's coachable. You know when a
coach and a coordinator are singing publicly a quarterback's praises

(05:26):
in camp, what a coach is always saying? Camp, with
the rookies coming along, let's lower expectations. Long way to
go now. They were like, who, this kid's magic, This
kid's unbelievable. I like their front office, I like their
coordinator and their coach. NFL. They're leading the NFL in
points per drive. That's a Vegas stat. I got Washington at.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
Five, number four.

Speaker 1 (05:50):
The Lions now are so consistent, they're kind of boring.
They're on a buy there, three and one, best offensive
line in the sport, very well balanced, number seven passing,
number six rushing. I think they should rush the ball more.
In my opinion, I think that when they're at their best,
Jamison Williams is becoming a scary deep threat. That matters.

(06:10):
You can't cheat on that run game. You got to
keep your safeties back now and you so they can
run the ball and eat the clock and go deep.
Hutchison has become TJ. Watt level dominant on the edge.
I have the lie the boring Lions at four. Number
three the Ravens. I love them. I love Lamar, huge energy.
I don't think they're necessarily built to beat the Chiefs.

(06:32):
I think they're built to beat everybody else in the
league not called the Chiefs. Number one rushing offense, and
I say to your I say, wow, they can just
keep the ball away from Mahomes. Yeah, whatever doesn't matter.
Give him thirteen seconds. I'll win. I love Derek Henry.
I think the Cowboys should have grabbed him. The Ravens
the smarter franchise. Did Lamar in the red zone against
the Bengals. I know it's the Bengals, but this is funny.

(06:52):
Six for six, four touchdown passes. Oh I forgot. He
doesn't win in the playoffs. You guys can keep taking
that side. I'll take the side in Lamar Jackson's good.
We'll see who wins that argument. Number two the Vikings.
I mean, listen, they're beating good teams. The last four
wins are the Niners, the Texans, the Packers, and the Jets.
They lead the NFL in point differential. Their rush defense

(07:15):
is fantastic. Some of the recent the Jets aren't running.
They couldn't run this. Brian Flores, I know he's got
a lawsuit with the NFL. That dude can coach, That
dude can flat coach. That's the best coaching staff to
me outside of Kansas City in the league. Spags and
Reid is what's happening in Minnesota. Number one Kansas City.

(07:35):
Literally last night on Monday night football was showing off.
They did a Warriors with Katie and Stephan Clay and Draymond.
They were screwing around and showing off. And I mean
Juju Smith Schuster's career over, oh wait, Kareem Hunt out
of the league career over, oh wait. Everybody else's circumstantial.

(07:56):
The Chiefs. I don't want to hear about Joe Burrow's
defense and Josh Allen missing the receiver. I don't want
to hear bomb it. I don't want to hear Ba
Lamar's got three new offensive linemen. Issan Pacheco's gone, Rashie
Rice is gone. They're bringing guys off the beach and
getting four hundred yards. Fluky interception, missing kicks, doesn't matter.

(08:20):
They've separated. This was weekend of separation, Kansas City separated
from the world. And with that, Nick Wright joins US Live.
How about that day, Doll?

Speaker 5 (08:35):
I mean, yeah, how about that? I mean it doesn't
get much better. I mean that, What a night to
be a Kansasity sports fan. The Royals come into Yankees stadium.
I hear all about Bronx bombers. I don't know they
come against Royals pitching don't don't do much jasticism complaining.
I'm watching the game, sitting alongside the merriv Kancity, who
came to New York to watch with me. Watching the Chiefs

(08:55):
game on my phone, It's like, oh, was that a
midfield lateral?

Speaker 3 (09:00):
Oh?

Speaker 5 (09:00):
Are they doing a full house backfield Kelsey handoff to
the rookie?

Speaker 2 (09:04):
Oh?

Speaker 5 (09:04):
Is that Kareem Hunt who wasn't good enough to make
the Browns and Juju Smith Schuster who wasn't good enough
to make the Patriots with the combined two hundred and
forty yards.

Speaker 1 (09:13):
And oh yeah, by the way, the.

Speaker 5 (09:15):
Best defense in the NFL. Yeah, Like there is an
element of kind of removing the suspense from the season
when one team has the best quarterback, the best coach,
and the best defense. So yeah, this is Colin two
weeks in a row. A really solid hierarchy. I have
to give you credit, not too many knits to pick.

(09:38):
I like it, and I like the fact that you're
giving the Cowboys a little bit of love. Kind of
a season saving game. Yes, that fourth down play from
Dak Prescott because had they not converted that? And he
has three turnovers and he and ced are chirping. It's
a madhouse in Dallas. That fourth down pass to save
the game maybe kept the Cowboys afloat. So I like

(10:00):
the hierarchy quite a bit this week. Maybe a little
love for the Bucks in Baker Mayfield. Beside from that, yep,
a plus Yep, they were eleven. I think Tampa is
a real team.

Speaker 1 (10:09):
Uh so you know, I'll just give you my real
quick take on the Jets, fifth coach eleven years. If
you win Monday, you're in first place. The one coach
on the staff that we absolutely know that was great
at something was Robert Soland. Defense, Like they shut the
Vikings down, So you can say what you want. That's
the one thing we know. Soli can motivate and Soli

(10:29):
can coach defense, he's out the door. I don't think
Woody Johnson just winged it and sprung it on Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 6 (10:38):
Do you.

Speaker 1 (10:40):
Well, I listen.

Speaker 5 (10:41):
Coach Mangini, who you know has some experience with the
jetson with Woody Johnson told us though it was really
interesting on Friday, might even Thursday or Friday. He said,
don't underestimate how important this specific game is for Woody,
who have course was the ambassador to England, as friends

(11:05):
in London, colleagues in London, They're gonna be at the game.
And he said, if the Jets come out and look
bad in that game, that that could hasten Sala's departure,
and that is exactly what ended up happening.

Speaker 2 (11:18):
Now.

Speaker 5 (11:18):
I want to make this clear. I don't think Robert
Sala is a good NFL coach, and it is not
surprising to me that he is the first coach fired.
But I do think it is a sign of two
larger issues. One is an incompetent organization, because if Robert
Sala's fireable at two and three, then you can't bring

(11:39):
him back going into the season when a guy like
Mike Rabel's available or you could make a run at
Belichick if you could get aside for the hurt feelings
about what I went with the Jets or something. If
you can't make it through five games, then he shouldn't
have been brought back. And then the other problem, of course,
is that we didn't actually fire the head coach, because
that's evident Aaron Rodgers. Because if there was any of

(12:04):
the list of people who should be accountable for this
Jets season going the way some of us saw it going,
Aaron and his buddy, the offensive coordinator, are far higher
on the list than the defensive coordinator turned head coach,
Robert Salah. But we all know Nat Hackett's unfiable for

(12:25):
reasons of well Aaron likes him, is he good at
his job? Doesn't seem like it.

Speaker 1 (12:30):
Does Aaron play better with him?

Speaker 5 (12:32):
There's no evidence of that, But Aaron likes him, so
he's unfirable. And so I think the Jets are a
poorly run franchise. I don't love the ownership, I don't
love the front office. I don't love the coaching staff.
And organizations like that that empower and embolden Aaron Rodgers
to do what he wants when it's because, oh he's

(12:54):
such a great player.

Speaker 1 (12:55):
Is he?

Speaker 5 (12:56):
The last time Aaron Rodgers was a great player, Mac
Jones was a pro bowler. This doesn't last forever, And
his final year in Green Bay he was average. And
this year he's been roughly the twenty fourth or twenty
fifth best quarterback in football. But some people can't get
over the fact that, oh man, he still throws a

(13:17):
pretty ball. So does Dan Marino, but he wouldn't be
able to play.

Speaker 1 (13:22):
At his age. So I don't.

Speaker 5 (13:23):
Yeah, I mean, I think the Jets are in real trouble,
but I've thought that all year long.

Speaker 1 (13:27):
So something that you and I were in agreement with,
although I have come around that he's more athletic than
I gave him credit for, is that if you really
look at what separates the great quarterbacks and the competent ones,
throwing when everybody knows you're throwing. So if you look

(13:49):
at Brock pretty leading and brought pretty trailing in the fourth,
it's not that it's disappointing. It drops off a cliff,
absolutely drops off a cliff. So Mahomes can't you know,
Mahomes is the standard, and nobody's Mahomes. So let's not.
I but I went this morning and I looked at

(14:09):
Kirk Cousins leading or tied his passer rating. In his
completion percentage, Kirk goes from great leading to solid trailing.
Baker Mayfield. When he's leading, he completes fifty eight percent.
When he's trailing, he actually complete sixty one percent, and
his passer rating is better when he's trailing. So Baker's

(14:32):
better trailing than leading. In the fourth Literally pretty bad weather,
it's a little sloppy that never run game trailing, falls
off a cliff and does that. And by the way,
that's called playoff football. You could take him. You could
take a bow.

Speaker 2 (14:51):
On this kid.

Speaker 5 (14:52):
And you were on that that they were. I mean, listen,
they were the number one red zone team in the
league last year. And folks eat me over the head
saying why won't you give brock Purty credit? Why do
you disrespect brock Purty? And I just said, on listen,
I'm not going to act like he is not playing well,
but I'm also not going to lie and say I

(15:14):
think he is the reason the Niners are having such success.
He has all the same people except Christian McCaffery, who
scored a touchdown, and literally every game he played as
a Niner it seemed like he's gone and now they're
not good in the red zone. Brock Purty this summer
said what he wanted to do to take his game
to the next level was the Tom Brady effect of

(15:37):
when we have a lead late, to really seize control
of the game and to not you know, turn a
one score game into a two to three score game. Well,
what that's turned into is turning a one or two
score lead into losses. And since the Super Bowl, they
were under brock Purty, since he had been there prior

(15:58):
to the Super Bowl, nineteen games they led by double digits.

Speaker 1 (16:02):
They were eighteen and one.

Speaker 5 (16:05):
From the Super Bowl to now five games they have
led by double digits, they are two and three. Like
there are some real listen, he is a better player
than a seventh round pick quarterback should be.

Speaker 1 (16:20):
That is obvious.

Speaker 5 (16:21):
He is a legitimate starter in this league, which I
was skeptical of at the beginning. That at this point
is obvious. But he was top five MVP voting last year.
People are already saying, well, the Niners have to plan
to pay the guy sixty million dollars, And my question

(16:42):
to that is do they and is that smart? Because
I think Rock Perdy has overachieved and has proven my
initial kind of caustic skepticism wrong. Is he a definitive
top twelve quarterback in football? I don't think so, and
I think that you are seeing some of those potential

(17:06):
weaknesses in his overall physical skill set show up in
some of these spots.

Speaker 1 (17:11):
So I want to go back I said earlier. Probably
the two coaches that are best served for the Jets
long term are Rabel in Belichick, especially if Bill doesn't
touch personnel. So now now I think the interim guy
like a substitute teacher. Everybody falls in love with him,
and if he reels off some wins, I wouldn't be

(17:32):
surprised if he got it. I really wouldn't. I mean,
the Niners like him. He's a former player. I wouldn't
be shocked. And by the way their best players are
on defense, I could make the argument if they just
replaced Nat Hackett, Sola could have kept his job, they'd
be competent. But that's you know, neither here nor they're
now right. So my take is Belichick Rabel right. But

(17:55):
here's what's interesting, Nick, Cincinnati, Jacksonville, Dallas, Chicago, Philadelphia, five
five legit quarterbacks couldn't need a coach. Last year, there
was one good opening, the one with Justin Herbert. So
let me ask you. With that said, Let's say two

(18:16):
of those jobs come open, A Caleb Williams, A Trevor Lawrence.
Is this a great job in that job market?

Speaker 5 (18:23):
The Jets are the Are the Jets a great job?
And there's no job market where the Jets are a
great job? Guys, there's no there's none of those jobs
come open. And the only jobs that come open are Cleveland,
Carolina and let me pick another and New Orleans. The

(18:46):
Jets still aren't a good job, guys. I again, I
don't want to do I told you so, but I
told you so, and and the delusion I all off season. Colin,
you know what I heard. Let's go through the list.
Oh my god, you don't think Bryce Hall is one
of the two or three best running backs in football?

Speaker 6 (19:05):
I don't know, man.

Speaker 5 (19:06):
I know that he was awesome for a few games
his rookie year, blew out his knee last year in
the final game of the season. They did everything they
could to get him a thousand yards, had him rush
thirty eight times, they still couldn't get it there because
they couldn't do the math. And this year, the last
couple of games, he's one yard per carry. So let's
put that as a question mark. You don't think Garrett
Wilson's a top five receiver?

Speaker 2 (19:28):
No?

Speaker 5 (19:28):
You know we ells dozen Aaron Rodgers who wouldn't even
target him regularly until this last game.

Speaker 1 (19:33):
Do I think he's good? Yes?

Speaker 5 (19:34):
Do I think there are a dozen teams with a
receiver as good as Garrett Wilson?

Speaker 3 (19:39):
Yes?

Speaker 5 (19:39):
You don't think the Jets are gonna have a massive
upgrade at quarterback? Why because the forty one year old
part time politician, part time conspiracy theorist coming off an
Achilles Achilles rupture, who wasn't that good the last year
he played, is gonna come save the day. No, I
don't think they're gonna be great. If you take over

(20:00):
the Jets, what you have is a medaling owner, maybe
a new front office, or if it's the same front office,
a GM who has sworn this is the year I
fixed the offensive line for six consecutive years, a nice
running back, a really nice wide receiver and three outstanding
defensive players. Okay, congratulations, you just took over the twenty

(20:24):
ninth best situation in.

Speaker 1 (20:26):
The thirty two tier league. So I just I don't
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (20:29):
I don't think it's a good job in any job, Marke,
it's certainly not the one you're describing.

Speaker 1 (20:35):
The Royals in Kansas City. That is a job. No,
But man, q's not going anywhere. You give me.

Speaker 5 (20:44):
You get to coach Bobby Witt Junior for the next decade,
man Wit and.

Speaker 1 (20:48):
Judge, Oh my goodness.

Speaker 5 (20:49):
Can you imagine Colin the ratings bonanza for Fox when
in the World Series it's shohe Otani against Bobby Baseball.
I know Fox probably like roll. You know, Yankees Dodge
be pretty good. I'm here to tell you Royals Dodgers
gonna do numbers. Oh boy, I can't wait.

Speaker 1 (21:05):
They'll do numbers in your house. I'm not sure if
they'll definitely be watched in your house. Good seeing you, buddy,
as always all right. By the way, Aaron Boone, people
are oh boy, between Robert sal and Aaron Boone. Yeah,
does anybody ever asked about Brian Cashman. He's had that
job forever. I don't know. It looks like to me,

(21:27):
the Dodgers have better players, the Padres have better players,
the Astros have had better players. Right now, Kansas that
he's got better players.

Speaker 4 (21:33):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (21:34):
You all want to blame in the managers now. I
think the Jets is a better job than Nick does,
because I do really, I mean, listen, it's hard to
get a number one defensive tackle and number one receiver
and a number one corner, all pro linebacker. There's some
really nice pieces, most are on defense, but I think
the Penn State offensive tackle is going to be a

(21:56):
pretty good player, so you know it. Also in the league,
I think Joe Douglas has done a good job, not
great because if he would have missed on a linebacker
in a safety, but hitting the quarterback in the left tackle,
we think he's a genius. So it does matter where
you miss. You can't miss on first round picks. He
missed on two and at the two most important positions,
and I think Joe Douglas is capable. But you could

(22:18):
miss on a safety in the fourth round or a
running back in the third. If you missing a quarterback
and a left tackle in the first round, you're not
an a you're not an a but and the air
thing is j MC. I'll get to this in a second.
One thing about this whole Jets firing of Robert Salah.
You know the old saying, don't pee on my leg

(22:40):
and tell me it's raining. Am I supposed to believe
Aaron Rodgers didn't get ahead of heads up.

Speaker 3 (22:45):
Oh, Aaron definitely had no clue this was coming. I'm
sure he was blindsided, just like Sala was.

Speaker 1 (22:50):
Colin, Well, that's what's going to be sent out.

Speaker 4 (22:53):
Yeah, of course, the messaging.

Speaker 1 (22:54):
Yeah, the messaging will be this is a terrible day.

Speaker 3 (22:59):
I got along great with the guy that I stiff
armed on the sideline when we went up seventeen against the.

Speaker 1 (23:02):
Wall a couple of weeks ago. You were very critical.
But the guy that used to quarterback the Jets, the
Boomer guy, he said, what I'm hearing, what I'm seeing.
They don't get along. It was well, you pushed back
on that.

Speaker 3 (23:14):
DeShawn Jackson had that this summer on this show. On
The Herd in August, Dshan Jackson came out.

Speaker 4 (23:19):
I was like, they don't like each other. Like he
was very blunt on The Herd.

Speaker 1 (23:22):
And by the way, DeShawn Jackson's a truth teller. Like
Deshaun tells you things off Aaron on that you can't
figure out how he knows, but he said. Deshaun Jackson
on this show said during the off season, saw Aaron
don't get along.

Speaker 3 (23:36):
And DeVante Adams was unhappy with the Raiders. He nailed
both of those on this show.

Speaker 7 (23:40):
He did.

Speaker 2 (23:41):
He did one more. Heard The Herd streams twenty four

Speaker 3 (24:13):
If there's one team that's kind of excited about the
Jets firing, and that's that's got to be the Cleveland Browns,
Right he is suddenly off Deshaun Watson and Kevin Stefanski
because holy hell, Colin, the Browns offense has been atrocious.
I mean, it is unfathomable how bad they've gotten quickly,
and Stefanski keeps supporting Watson at every opportunity.

Speaker 1 (24:33):
He got the Baker into the playoffs, where we blame
in Stefanski.

Speaker 4 (24:36):
Well, but okay, so then give up on Watson.

Speaker 3 (24:39):
Listen to what he's saying at the podium saying he'd
consider giving up play calling.

Speaker 4 (24:44):
I'm stunned at this.

Speaker 7 (24:46):
I think there's a bunch of different things Mary Kay,
that we want to look at and see how we're
doing from a operations standpoint. On offense, I think Ken's
been an outstanding partner and all this, So those are
the of things that will always look at. But really
it just gets back to making sure that we're putting
our guys in position is what we'll look at ultimately.

Speaker 1 (25:07):
So he got Baker to the playoffs and Joe Flacolaco, okay,
and you're gonna blame him. I think this is one
of the best play callers in the game. If you
ask the people I talk to in the league front
office people, they think Stefanski's brilliant. The idea that this
guy's got to swim around in that mess of an
organization and keeps making them bible in an organization with

(25:27):
Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson. Come on this, this is one
of the You got two of the best quarterbacks in
the planet and he's out there balon water. And I
think Stefanski is a great coach.

Speaker 3 (25:39):
So there is one commonality among the Jets the Browns,
and I would say Carolina's right there.

Speaker 4 (25:45):
What's that horrific owners The ownership situation in all those
three are terrible.

Speaker 1 (25:50):
For years. You and I have talked about this off air.
Be careful about chasing money, chase good management. There's so
little of it. You cannot overcome a wonky owner. And
I think half the league it's closer to Woody Johnson
than the Hunt family in Kansas City. And I'm not joking.

(26:12):
I think half the league in the Woody Johnson David
Tepper category. And then you get you know, Robert Kraft,
Stan Cronkey, the Hunt family, Jeffrey Lewie. You get really
solid guys. York's and San Francisco I think do a
good job.

Speaker 3 (26:27):
How about the New York Giants OWT I'm meddling to
get Daniel Jones that new contract.

Speaker 1 (26:33):
Maybe if you watch that game. Sunday's stop this radar
was zoned in on the improvement of DJ. I like
to call him DJ now, he's got a little swag
to him.

Speaker 4 (26:42):
For a couple of good games for Daniel Jones, and
he's back.

Speaker 1 (26:45):
DJ was slinging it.

Speaker 4 (26:47):
Danny loose chains will be forever his nickname.

Speaker 3 (26:51):
Next up, there's a quarterback I love in college and
that's cam Ward. Call it what he did Saturday night,
let an impressive twenty five point comeback on the road
against He ended thirty five of fifty three for four
hundred and thirty seven yards and three touchdowns. Right now,
Ward is third behind Boise States running back and Travis Hunter.

Speaker 4 (27:10):
In the Heisman discussion, we saw Michael.

Speaker 3 (27:12):
Irvin celebrating with cam Ward, and cam has caught the
eye of another cowboy.

Speaker 4 (27:17):
Take a listen to Micah Parsons.

Speaker 2 (27:20):
I want to get my car.

Speaker 1 (27:21):
My father was a cam Ward.

Speaker 2 (27:23):
I've seen back to back.

Speaker 4 (27:24):
Weeks where his poise, his determination, his relentless attitude of
teammates and expecting more.

Speaker 2 (27:33):
Talk about a quarterback who I want my team, it
would be cam Ward.

Speaker 4 (27:38):
I think he has a chance to be, you know,
the first quarterback taken.

Speaker 1 (27:44):
I had a take on that today on cam Ward.
So I'm watching Mahomes last night. How effortless, easy and
creative he is. And against Andy Reid Helps, I think
I'd take Shaduur Sanders number one. Shaduor Sanders is six
to two. Cam Ward is listed at six to two.

(28:06):
But when I watch cam I think he looks small.
You know what I never think when I watch six
foot two Mahomes or six two Shaduur Sanders, they never
feel small. And I was sitting here last nime, I'm like,
I can't overthink the room. Quinn yours hurt again? Quinn
yours hurt again? Carson Beck not it can't push the
ball down the field. I like cam Ward a lot.

(28:27):
I when the Miami got him, I said, I've been
watching this kid play at Washington State for years in
the Pacific Northwest. He's terrific. But when I watch him,
and I watched Shadure, I never people forget this. Bryce
Young is not that much shorter than Aaron Rodgers, but
you can't take your eyes off his diminutive size. Now,
Kyler Marie is small. Is that some quarterbacks play big

(28:51):
and and Chadure six ' two. Patrick, I'm stid next
to Patrick Mahomes he' six two and a half. He
plays so big. Aaron's only six to two six one
and a half. Ever think about that. When I watch
Shador Sanders play, I never think about his size, and
he's the exact same size as cam Ward, and cam
looks a tad small to me.

Speaker 3 (29:09):
It's interesting because when Michael Irvin was here yesterday, that
was the first question I asked him.

Speaker 4 (29:13):
I was like, you were at Miami, Come on, cam
Ward or Shador.

Speaker 3 (29:16):
I'm not gonna tell you his answer, but that being said,
give me cam Ward seems like less noise your favorite.

Speaker 4 (29:24):
One no A lot of noise, A lot of noise.
Maybe maybe it doesn't matter, maybe it's college.

Speaker 1 (29:30):
I'm since working with you, I've gotten more comfortable with noise.

Speaker 3 (29:36):
On a day the Jets coach gets fired, you're taking
jabs in me. Okay, got your final story, Colin? Is
the Buffalo Bills offense? Huh what they do the last
two games? Jack Squatt, Remember Joe Brady was a genius.
Now it's like, oh, what's going on? Josh Allen nine
for thirty against Houston by the way, if you watch
any tape on that game, Houston did something. I talked

(29:57):
about it on my podcast. They played a single high
so ffety. They said, nobody's beating us thee we can
stack the box, we can spy Josh Allen.

Speaker 4 (30:05):
He would not.

Speaker 3 (30:06):
He was not running at all, and they had no offense.
I think I think Houston has unlocked something. Things are
not looking good for Buffalo, but here's Joe Brady saying
he's not worried about the offensive struggle.

Speaker 6 (30:18):
And we believe in who we have. We believe in
the we believe in the unit, we believe in the room,
we believe the guy that's thrown the football and we've left.
We believe we'll be able to get open. And that's
a constant theme. And that's not just words, that's belief,
and you know, will continue working. And like I said, uh,
this guy hasn't fallen.

Speaker 1 (30:37):
Have you ever had a product in your entire life
and I'm putting you on the spot, I'm putting me
on the spot. And it's just a great product and
you can't figure out why more people don't like it.
Or maybe there's a restaurant near you and every time
you go you have great experience, but it's never that crowded.
That's how I feel about the Bills. I like the GM,
I like the owner. Coach is capable, Josh Allen's amazing

(30:59):
left tackle, excellent, always have a good weapon running game
now with James Cook. Defensively, they're always stout. Why are
they all over the map? I mean, honest to god,
week to week, I don't know what the hell I'm
getting with Buffalo. Why there's certain things in life I
can't explain. You go to a restaurant. Every time you go,
you love it, it's never that busy, like I don't

(31:21):
understand it, and what I usually like popular restaurants. I
can't explain the Bills.

Speaker 3 (31:26):
Okay, so what's the I'm I can't explain an oriented guy.
What is the solution when that is the problem generally?

Speaker 1 (31:33):
Coach?

Speaker 3 (31:33):
Okay, he had an awful game plan late against Houston.

Speaker 4 (31:37):
I mean, Buffalo Bills fans are irate. That was That's one?

Speaker 3 (31:40):
And then what why were they so ill prepared for
the Baltimore Ravens in that in that game two weeks ago?

Speaker 4 (31:47):
But who do you blame for that?

Speaker 1 (31:48):
Now?

Speaker 3 (31:49):
I know people will say, well, they started to comeback,
and then they had that dumb trip play on the
sideline that blew up. Blaming the OC again, you don't
want to be blamed the coach guy. But ultimately they're
not firing Josh Allen.

Speaker 1 (31:59):
We know you're Here's my question is is Joe Brady
a head coach? He's a great coordinator. Is maybe he
the guy? Can they pivot? Listen? There are things about
I told you who Sean McDermott reminds me of. And
again I don't like to go seventies because you always
bang on me for this.

Speaker 2 (32:17):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (32:18):
Chuck Knox who?

Speaker 4 (32:19):
Okay?

Speaker 1 (32:20):
So Chuck Knox was a coach of the Rams the Seahawks,
so you know when I was younger, Chuck Knox always
came into a loose ship, tighten it up, defense got better,
Toughness was great. Chuck was a very good coach, but
he was tight and he would get to the playoffs.
And it was like Loud Dolson for a while at
Arizona one and done like you some guy, and Loud

(32:42):
Olson turned around Arizona in an hour. That program is great.
There are these coaches who are meticulous in their preparation
and their detail and they can take a messy organization
and clean it up there and there takes a certain
rigidity and strength to do that, but they keep hitting
the ceiling. And McDermott is my Chuck Knox. I know

(33:05):
he's a good coach. I know he's detailed, I know
he's credible, but I think they've just hit. And when
you're going up against Andy Reid, who was flexing last
night on Monday Night Football, he is just playing with
Dennis Allen and the Saints. So it's again, it's it's
it would be like you know you're a golfer on
the PGA too, or you're a heck of a golfer.

(33:26):
Then you know, Brooks, Koepka and Tiger arrive and they
drive at three fifty and you're like two sixty. You
better change your driver, like you can't compete.

Speaker 3 (33:33):
Let me ask you what was the best version of
the Josh Allen Buffalo Bills the last six years?

Speaker 1 (33:38):
Well, the Brian dave Ol team when he was the
coordinator and they took the Chiefs and had him with
thirteen seconds left. That to me was a great team.

Speaker 3 (33:47):
That was an explosive team with Gabe Davis down the field,
and did it was.

Speaker 1 (33:51):
Also you had the organizational strain of McDermott and a
now very credible head coach. Brady might just be an OC,
not a head coach. That happens all that Ben Johnson
I think is really an OC and maybe not a
head coach. Cliff Kingsbury great OC were watching, not got
to get another show, I get get a nurse shot.
Clearly or so far he's not a great head coach.

Speaker 3 (34:11):
Well just limited simple sizes did get Kyler Burray to
the playoffs the one.

Speaker 4 (34:15):
Time, but I know they lost anyways.

Speaker 3 (34:16):
So when you come back to the Bills, it's like, okay,
if that was the best version, look at what they
are now, two tight ends running the football and they
get smacked around back to back like this to me,
doesn't even sniff that.

Speaker 1 (34:29):
Awesome something at ye? Right, you're right for this, Adams, No,
you're ready for this sit down. The Giants stupidly move
off Brian Dable. If they miss the playoffs, the Giants
go higher? Are the Bills go hire them and bring
him back? I do that in one second. Well he's

(34:50):
gonna have it. Market, you know what I'm saying. What's
the better market than Josh Allen and a good in
a capable GM. If the Giants do the end, by
the way, it'll be the other conference. You won't have
to face the Giants again. But I take you if
the Giants two something dopey, I'm Brian, I'm on Buffalo.
I hire Brian Dable in one second. That was the
best that team ever was. And then you can just

(35:11):
you know what I would do. The second thing I
would do, build a Super Bowl trophy room.

Speaker 3 (35:14):
Or are they gonna say, hire Robert sala Is the
defensive court in the division.

Speaker 4 (35:18):
That's not to get revenge on.

Speaker 1 (35:19):
It's not a terrible idea. Of course, we already sawt
We solved, j MC consultant. We solved.

Speaker 4 (35:26):
I'm just telling you the way he dismissed Salah.

Speaker 3 (35:28):
If the reports are true from Schrager and Jordan Schultz
that they call him in, fire him, he had no
clue what was coming, and then kicked him out of
the building, didn't get to say bye to his players.

Speaker 4 (35:36):
That's dirty and that will come back to haunt you. Beellum,
you know that.

Speaker 1 (35:40):
Yeah, I don't like that. I've seen that happen in
corporate jobs before. I saw what happened in Tampa. The
good news to GM there got fired, so can't fire
the owner of the Jets. I was drinking christall that
day and it wasn't even something stow wow J Mack
with the news.

Speaker 2 (35:58):
Well that's the news and thanks for stopping by the
Herd Line. Be sure to catch live editions of The
Herd weekdays and noon Easter nine am Pacific on Fox
Sports Radio FS one and the iHeartRadio app.

the Lions take on Dak and the Cowboys.

Speaker 4 (36:23):
Check for the games in your area only on Fox.

Speaker 1 (36:26):
Lions minus the field goal and a half three and
a half Lions.

Speaker 4 (36:29):
What do you like Ben Johnson coming off of bye
cooking up some real good stuff.

Speaker 1 (36:34):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (36:35):
I like that.

Speaker 1 (36:37):
Yeah, But I like Lions minus three and a half.
If it comes down to three, it's one of the picks.
It's the pick of the weekend.

Speaker 4 (36:44):
Probably won't come down to three am. That's a that's
a great game.

Speaker 3 (36:48):
I think, didn't the Lions loose to the Cowboys last
year in that really tough It was like a Saturday
night game.

Speaker 4 (36:54):
Do you remember this.

Speaker 1 (36:55):
Great game in Dallas and there was a weird call
by Dan Campbell.

Speaker 4 (36:59):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (36:59):
Yeah, And it was also an officiating call we didn't
love in that game. Drigged.

Speaker 4 (37:06):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (37:08):
Nick Wright stopped by earlier today, as he's prone to do.
On Tuesday, I teed him up on the firing of
Robert Salah.

Speaker 5 (37:17):
Robert Sala's fireable at two and three. Then you can't
bring him back going into the season when a guy
like Mike Rabel's available, or you could make a run
at Belichick. And then the other problem, of course, is
that we didn't actually fire the head coach, because that's
evidently Aaron Rodgers. Of the list of people who should

(37:38):
be accountable for this Jets season going the way some
of us saw it going, Aaron and his buddy, the
offensive coordinator, are far higher on the list than the
defensive coordinator turned head coach, Robert Sala. But we all
know Nat Hackett's unfireable for reasons of well, Aaron likes him.

Speaker 1 (38:00):
Aaron's the only NFL player that's ever owned three teams
the Packers for about a decade, the Bears and now
the Jets. Essentially he's running it. So the idea that
you know Wood he didn't give him a heads up,
come on just over the next twenty four hours, watch

(38:21):
the newsbreakers, watch the positioning. That's the way it works.
The agent calls pesters. Aaron didn't know. Lebron didn't know.
They know, you don't just do that. And the thing is,
it wasn't like Wood he fired him sitting next to

(38:41):
him on the plane back from London. I mean they
got a hold of security. They had security all ready
to escort him out of the building. It's a couple
of days later. So Wood, he obviously slept on it
for two nights, had things in order. But you know,

(39:03):
go get Aaron's cell phone records. There's a call from
w Johnson somewhere on there. I'm just saying, I don't
think you spring it if. By the way, if you're
if you're really really concerned about the offense. And that's
what he Johnson said at the end of last season,
sla can let the other guys coach defense. It's the offense.

(39:25):
Wouldn't you want to give a heads up? To the
most important person on the offense. You wouldn't want to
offend him, get him all riled up, get into his head.
Aaron's obviously told it's going to happen. I mean, he
is the centerpiece of the offense. It's not this dynamic
offensive coordinator Nat Hackett. I mean one thing, if Kyle
Shanahan was the OC, then you'd call, you'd go to Kyle,

(39:46):
you'd go to But you don't have that. So it's
Aaron's offense. You know, Aaron the guy doing this to
Nat Hackett Sunday morning, Hurry up, let's go, treating him
like a personal assistant.

Speaker 4 (39:57):
That's my signal to my kids when it's time to
get out of house.

Speaker 2 (40:00):
Let's go, come on, let's go.

Speaker 1 (40:01):
I used to do that.

Speaker 4 (40:02):
And then when they hate it when I do that, Yeah,
they don't.

Speaker 1 (40:04):
They don't like it.
