brand new over Promised episode eighty six premieres about an

(02:58):
things we do. Over Promise is our bonus show. It's uncensored.
It's a lot of fun. So join us in about
an hour. But right now, we do this every Thursday
before we talk NBA and other nonsense here on the show.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
We do this every Thursday.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
We throw it back and reminisce and we're reminiscing about
movies for two reasons. Today it's National Film Score Day
and Val Kilmer passed away this week at sixty five.
And we all knew that he was beloved and that
he was a legend and a master of his craft.

(03:33):
But I did not expect this sort of outcry from everybody,
even Tom Cruise. Tom Cruise at a Jim carry today,
big cinema event and he did a moment of silence
for his pal Val Kilmer.

Speaker 1 (03:44):
So it's a big deal.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
I Sam yesterday was telling me how touched he was.
But you see it all over social media. Not only
was I in touch. You need to finish that story.
I was Sam, and you were relating over your love
of Val Kilmer.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
Yeah. After the show yesterday and one of our.

Speaker 2 (03:59):
Coworkers came in here, I was say, I loved your
enthusiasm during the break. Try to replicate what you told
me because I missed this moment.

Speaker 3 (04:06):
Well, me and Cavino we're having like Covino's usually pretty
uh quick to get out the door. He's got stuff
to do, So I was just trying to steal quick
thirty seconds with Steve and be like, man, I'm so
it's so cool that you got to interview Val Kilmer
way back when, and you know, got to talk to him,
and it's I'm jealous, I'll never get to do that.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
No, you got to wear Val Kilmer's jacket. I saw
that he was dressed like Don Johnson.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
He was wearing a white blazer.

Speaker 2 (04:30):
Cavino goes, sweet Don Johnson jacket Val Kilmer, and he goes, Covino,
you want to try it on?

Speaker 1 (04:34):
And I was like, it's cool.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
He was like a fun guy when we would Yeah,
he was cool and personable and and humble, like he
had a humility for such a superstar.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
That's the thing. So we're talking about that.

Speaker 3 (04:45):
So so we were looking at you showed me a
couple of pictures and we were just talking about Val Kilmer,
and uh, this coworker steps up and I wanted to
I wanted to just ask you more about the interview.
And so this guy just walks up and just he says, Hey, Covino,
how abut those torpedo bats? And I'm like, yo, such
and such, we're talking about Val Kima here. Maybe you

(05:05):
can just come back, like, I know that's not the
same bassion.

Speaker 1 (05:08):
He dismissed.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
He goes, I'm trying to have a moment here with Cavino,
and he goes, you can talk about this anytime with him, yes,
and he's like and also he's like talk to the hand,
and he like dismissed.

Speaker 4 (05:17):
Well.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
I was just like, it was just so frankly.

Speaker 3 (05:20):
I I thought about maybe apologizing after, but I'm like,
what so and so did was rude and didn't read
the room read us. He acted like I wasn't even there,
So that just immediately it was like knee jerk reaction.
I'm like, yeah, we're talking Val Kilmer here, goodbye, talk
to the wall. It doesn't worry an apology, but like, funny, yeah,
it's like, you know, you just gotta do a better
job of like when you approach, like, don't act like

(05:40):
I'm not even there.

Speaker 1 (05:41):
That was a little bit.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
That was rude conversation with a serious tone, and he
was just like Yankees, am I right.

Speaker 5 (05:48):
That's I feel like this because of the weight of
the conversation that this may have happened other times previously
when the conversation wasn't as heavy, but because it was heavy,
if Sam reached his boiling point that said, you know,
all right, that's it. I got to put a stop
to it, like today is the day I say something
when this may have happened five other times, but you

(06:10):
guys were talking about something more frivolous, you know.

Speaker 2 (06:13):
Sam was He was sort of emotional in the moment,
talking about how much Valve meant to him, and he
was rattling off his favorite movies and everything. And that's
what we're gonna do right now because we didn't give
Sam the proper time yesterday he was so rudely interrupted.
We're gonna talk about your favorite Val Kilmer moments and
also movies with the best music. Now, now Doors comes

(06:34):
to mind because it's about the doors. Yeah, but about Kilmer,
was jamar. We're gonna we're gonna get to the movie
scores in a second. But if you had to, yeah,
this weekend, Yeah, pick a Val Kilmer movie to watch
and tribute.

Speaker 1 (06:46):
What would you go? What would you go with? Pick one?
Picked one for the weekend.

Speaker 2 (06:50):
Let's hear it, Danny Tombstone, I'm with you, I said,
Tombstone with a tunes one of my favorites.

Speaker 1 (06:56):
Watch Tombstone. Have some pizza, let's go, I'll get some.
I don't know I'd rather have anything but a Tombstone pizza.
Didn't want to be negative about their pizza.

Speaker 5 (07:06):
I like to lay off Medford, Wisconsin Original, although they
sold it years ago and now Kraft is taken over
two Stone.

Speaker 1 (07:14):
I'll go round table with some Tombstone movie. I'm with
you on that one because it's been a while.

Speaker 2 (07:20):
And he was like, I think that's what really separated
him with everybody else.

Speaker 1 (07:24):
Like Trail of Holliday was amazing. It really was.

Speaker 2 (07:28):
You know, if you listen to Cavino and Rich it's
it's obvious, right when you tell Cavino something, the more
you try to encourage him.

Speaker 1 (07:35):
He resists, right, Danny J.

Speaker 2 (07:36):
Like, if you tell Cavino, come on, dude, do karaoke,
He's never gonna do it. If you ask him twice.
It's like telling Canalo to fight Benevitez.

Speaker 6 (07:45):
I won't do it now. I really won't do it. Yeah,
it's you are fuel. I fight whoever I want.

Speaker 2 (07:51):
It's the as you said, not me. You always say
you're the Mexican hardheadedness of you.

Speaker 1 (07:56):
I think it's the stubbornness.

Speaker 2 (07:58):
Yeah, just it's just in the d n Come on, Canelo,
you gotta fight Benavidez. Now I won't because you'll say so.
That's why Kavino has seen so many movies. He's a
guy that's seen all all the best. I'll give him props.
He's a great, great guy when it comes to movies.
In TV, he's never seen Top Gun Maverick. And I said, Cavino,
you got a great TV setup, the so no surround

(08:20):
sound this weekend.

Speaker 1 (08:21):
It was fantastic.

Speaker 2 (08:22):
And I wasn't even a big Top Gun guy in
the eighties, like Top Gun in the eighties wasn't in my.

Speaker 1 (08:29):
Top twenty movies. But Maverick.

Speaker 7 (08:35):
Really well done. That was especially waiting so many years
for that sequel.

Speaker 2 (08:40):
And you know what, it also of ties together because
you know this song right here, the Top Gun theme.

Speaker 1 (08:47):
That was done by Harold Faltemeyer. You know what he
also did. Did he do x L F from uh? Yeah?
Some similarities there. Oh he did the yeah Beverly Hills copscore.

Speaker 2 (08:59):
Yeah, So let's hear not only what Val Kilmer movie
you would throw on a tribute, but since it is
National Score Day, a couple guys come to mind from me,
Alan Silvestri of course, John Williams. If you've ever seen
the documentary on Apple TV Music by John.

Speaker 1 (09:17):
Will that's awesome. You realize, like this guy is the
soundtrack to your life. I know it sounds.

Speaker 2 (09:21):
Some people may not be down with soundtrack not soundtracks
with music scores, they could make or break a movie.

Speaker 1 (09:28):
The right movie, the right sound just takes it.

Speaker 2 (09:31):
To a different level. Well, I'll kick it off. I'm
with Danny g My Val Kilmer. Movie of the weekend
is Tombstone my top three A Maverick.

Speaker 6 (09:42):
Dude, you've seen Tombstone, leave me alone, now, I won't
watch Come on do it.

Speaker 7 (09:47):
By the way, I know we all hate homework, but
if you're listening later in the future, future boy, you're
gonna have to look these songs up on YouTube because
we're not legally allowed to play all this music on podcasts.

Speaker 2 (10:00):
Sorry, podcast future friends. My top three movies with the
best music. Now, this could be soundtracks or scores, okay,
because again it's National Film Score Day, but we're not
gonna be all particular about it soundtracks or scores. This
one encompasses both because Bill Conti created a masterpiece and

(10:23):
it still had a great soundtrack. Moving forward into franchise.
I'm talking Rocky Rocky the soundtrack, it wouldn't be the
same without this horn section, the gonna fly nout the
inspiration when Yeah, he's on the steps, the kids are
running with him, he's in Philadelphia.

Speaker 1 (10:40):
It's so powerful, dude.

Speaker 2 (10:41):
And then it stops on that still frame when he's
just jumping up and down.

Speaker 1 (10:46):
Without the score, it's nothing.

Speaker 2 (10:48):
And then when you get into the franchise of Survivor
and I have the Tiger and there's no easy way out.
The soundtrack incredible. So Rocky wouldn't be the same without
the music. If you're gonna combine soundtracks and scores, Rocky
is a tremendous answer. And by the way, when you
talk about the kids running up the stairs, I believe
that's the second one, so you're right. The music continues

(11:08):
throughout all the movies, and even the Creed soundtrack takes
pieces of Bill Conti's classics. So Bill Conti's song and
this was so big, it was a radio hit at
the time, and the only lyrics are are really this
part right here and gonna fly Now.

Speaker 3 (11:22):
The bongos in this is very seventies, but it gives
it an extra layer of coolness.

Speaker 1 (11:26):
It's so.

Speaker 2 (11:29):
Raw and dated and awesome and I love it. I
love the scene so rocky for me. Then I'm gonna say,
hold on, hold on you you should do.

Speaker 1 (11:37):
This for real.

Speaker 2 (11:37):
Yeah, because no one would ever fact check you.

Speaker 1 (11:41):
You just ruin my air guitar performance and that mean
breakdown in the kind of flying Now.

Speaker 2 (11:46):
I'm glad you said that. Gotta put the stank face on.
No seventies stank face. I was gonna say, no one
less than seventy six stank No one would fact check
you. You should tell people your dad was the bongo player. Yeah,
he was big Steve. Oh yeah in the seventies. You
know he's a studio musician.

Speaker 1 (12:04):
You can make it all up. He plays the bungos.
I'm gonna fly now. It's true.

Speaker 2 (12:09):
And uh my next answer would be as far as
music making the movie, it's a score. In fact, I'm
going score full on score because it is National Film
Score Day. There's endless examples, but it's an earworm through
my life. You know, I'm cleaning the house or I'm
just walking around.

Speaker 1 (12:29):
I'm like.

Speaker 2 (12:36):
Indiana Jones, bro. There's different scores for every scene. Temple Doom,
Mola Ron has his own theme.

Speaker 1 (12:44):
You have the.

Speaker 8 (12:45):
Betrayed Shiva call him, you have the actual theme for
Indiana Jones.

Speaker 1 (12:56):
You know what I mean.

Speaker 2 (12:59):
It's just it's so endlessly great and awesome and wouldn't
be the same without the score. For me, just eighties magic,
John Williams at his best, Yes, And I think the
movie is only as great as it is because.

Speaker 1 (13:14):
Of the music that accompanied did so.

Speaker 2 (13:16):
Indiana Jones is my answer number two, and then I'm
going more eighties magic, but childhood magic here for my
third answer. This movie is so powerful and emotional. I
can't watch it because I don't feel like crying. It's
the music that inspires you right here in the heart when.

Speaker 1 (13:34):
I see the heart pretty No, Nope, I'm.

Speaker 2 (13:37):
Talking Et the Extraterrestrial because it's so magical, its eighties magic,
and you're riding your bicycle and you're flying through the
air across the moon, and it's the music that gives
you that that feeling of.

Speaker 1 (13:50):
Oh my god, this is incredible.

Speaker 7 (13:52):
Yeah, it's give me chills right now. This makes me
reminisced to the drive in movie theater.

Speaker 2 (13:59):
And not only that, like there's music to a company
every scene, like you remember the ride to a Universal.
You're sitting there in the forest, there's like Forrest music
and you're like, oh my god, you know every you
know me? Yeah, you know every score for every scene
in that movie. Okay, all right, so those are my three.
I have my three now, by the way, great list,

(14:22):
Rocky Man, Rocky I spread it out, Indiana Jones, and
e t All.

Speaker 9 (14:28):
Right.

Speaker 2 (14:29):
Now I'm gonna play Penny, I'm gonna play I'm gonna
pay tribute to John Williams in a second.

Speaker 1 (14:38):
But there's another.

Speaker 2 (14:39):
Guy that gets shine. But so many of these are
John Williams. Alan Silvestri. I have to just point out
two of his big ones before I get to my
top three. Alan Silvestri did Forrest Gump and Forrest Gump.
This is used not only Forrest Gump, but every.

Speaker 1 (14:55):
Time there's a montage of movies. Yeah, it's definitely been
stolen a couple time. This is like the.

Speaker 2 (15:00):
Most majestic, like heartfelt theme song. And this is just
the nice intro when he's on the bench.

Speaker 1 (15:08):
With the feather, the feather flowing through the air.

Speaker 2 (15:10):
When this score kicks into the next part. There's so
many levels of Forrest Gump.

Speaker 1 (15:23):
Right here.

Speaker 2 (15:23):
Here we go.

Speaker 1 (15:24):
Ready. You know this makes me think of too, like
when you leave the DVD on just keeps playing.

Speaker 3 (15:30):
Yeah, leg braces snapping off and he starts to just
bucket down that that dirt road, right, Isn't that one
of the parts with this It's.

Speaker 1 (15:39):
One of them.

Speaker 2 (15:40):
So Forrest Gump gets a shout And you said soundtracks.

Speaker 1 (15:46):
There was great music in this movie.

Speaker 2 (15:48):
But I don't think this next movie, I don't think
it would be the same, not without forget the great
eighties music, back to the future title theme. You know
what this a double doozy like Rocky Rich because it
had the soundtrack and the score.

Speaker 7 (16:05):
Yes, Rich, that's on my list too. I'm sorry, No,
it's all good, No, so good. That's why it's one
of the most perfect films ever made ever.

Speaker 2 (16:15):
I mean, doc Emmitt Brown, Marty McFly, this song, it
really is perfect.

Speaker 7 (16:19):
It's and then think about Chuck Berry being played in
the movie, Huey Lewis and the News, of course.

Speaker 1 (16:25):
Your cousin Marvin Berry. That's the Power of Love, and.

Speaker 2 (16:28):
Of course the Penguins, Earth Angel and classic. Yeah, great soundtrack.

Speaker 3 (16:33):
Is this just John Williams Day is April third, twenty
twenty five John Williams day, you know what, because I mean,
the guy is just soundtrack after sounds.

Speaker 1 (16:40):
I don't want to.

Speaker 2 (16:40):
Steal all the answers, so let me just give you
two more. Okay, I don't know. I mean one of
them is arguably the most impactful. This is not my
personal favorite, but this song could very well have made
the movie.

Speaker 1 (16:54):
That wasn't where I was going. But Star Wars everybody,
which you're not even a fan of that.

Speaker 2 (16:59):
Friend, I'm not really a fan of Star Wars. But
I mean, you can't. You can't talk about movie soundtracks.
That's a big part of what made it so majestic. Yeah,
powerful man, it's amazing. Now the one that the one
that made the movie. It was a great movie. But
I think without the soundtrack would not have been the same.

Speaker 1 (17:20):
And that's Jaws. That just that simple.

Speaker 2 (17:23):
Yeah, dude, and steals fear in you. Yeah, I mean
John Williams. Two notes.

Speaker 4 (17:33):
Come.

Speaker 1 (17:34):
He does eventually expand a little bit.

Speaker 2 (17:37):
These are these are the notes? Just creepy dark What
if you heard these notes in the dark water? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (17:46):
How scary that would be. I probably soiled myself. I
have a heart attack. Go ahead, Danny g what you
got man.

Speaker 7 (17:53):
Okay, I'm having bad flashbacks for that right there.

Speaker 1 (17:58):
All right, close your eyes. Really, where's Roy Schier when
you need him? Yeah? And I got this one cued
ups buddy done The Natural? Yes, Randy Newman. I thought
it was Randy Watson. Dude.

Speaker 7 (18:17):
The final scene with that home run and his shirt
has the blood on it and he's round in the bases,
the lights are exploding, ball flies off into into the
sky forever. And there was other great songs in that too,
when Roy Hobbs strikes out the Whammer. Lots of different

(18:37):
scenes with lots of different great music from Randy Newman,
who composed the music for The Natural.

Speaker 1 (18:43):
Randon Newman did a lot of great music for movies.
He deserves of respect too. He's about the B team.

Speaker 10 (18:47):
He's not quite a John Williams, but he has composed
a lot. That one right there, man, toy story, Oh
he did?

Speaker 1 (18:54):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (18:56):
Okay, Randy, Because you associate that the minute the second
you play that, I'm like, oh, hitting home runs into
the lights.

Speaker 7 (19:02):
Yeah, every kid's dream to this day and cove and
I'm not going to ask you to watch it because
then you won't. But the World Sit the twenty twenty
four World Series doc World Series docu series that's on
Apple TV. When they get to Freddie Freeman hitting his
now infamous grand slam, this comes on as he hits
the grand slam.

Speaker 2 (19:23):
Bar.

Speaker 1 (19:23):
It's awesome, double bar.

Speaker 3 (19:25):
No.

Speaker 2 (19:25):
If you want to give Randy Newman some shout out, spot,
I know you're quick on the punch. Randy Newman is
talking to sports movies. I thought this was true when
I was right. The song from Major League Cleveland Indians
burn On by Randy Newman. Remember the song There's a
Red Moon Rising.

Speaker 1 (19:43):
That song that played throughout that was Randy Newman as well.

Speaker 2 (19:46):
Okay, so yeah, he deserves to mention on National Film
Score Day. We all remember this from Major League Wait,
so is that him singing?

Speaker 1 (19:56):
Yeah? Oh no way. You're also saying you got a
friend in me now yeah, I'm putting that together.

Speaker 2 (20:00):
And short people and I love LA, I love l
A big one. Oh come on, he deserves way more
of a than a nod.

Speaker 1 (20:08):
Let me give you one more. Then we'll go to
the phones.

Speaker 2 (20:09):
They're hot, they're they're lit. This this is a holiday movie.
But I'm gonna go to the John Williams. I'm gonna
I'm just gonna stroke this guy. What are the kids saying? It?

Speaker 1 (20:18):
Lazes?

Speaker 2 (20:18):
I'm gonna go careful now, Yeah, I don't have to
dump you. Well, let me tell you.

Speaker 1 (20:22):
Give him this Flowers Home alone.

Speaker 2 (20:25):
Without the John Williams score, I don't know if it
would have been the same.

Speaker 3 (20:29):
Oh, John Williams Day, April third, twenty twenty five.

Speaker 2 (20:33):
I don't mind them now because we gave props to
Bill Conti, we gave props to Silvestri, and we gave
prompts to but.

Speaker 3 (20:40):
Think the Thread and all of this is the brilliance
of John Williams.

Speaker 2 (20:43):
Yeah, it's incredible, dude. I'm more of a Bernie fan,
but John is pretty cool.

Speaker 1 (20:48):
Covedos.

Speaker 2 (20:49):
If Comito made a movie, he would have Bernie Williams
on the guitar.

Speaker 1 (20:52):
I love this part here. He's a great musician. That
would be good. All right, Hey, I love this.

Speaker 2 (21:02):
So now we go to the phones eight seven, seven
ninety nine on Fox Old School in fifty hits, we
try to get you involved Fox Sports Radio Nation. So
thanks for hanging tight. Because Val Kilmer passed this week
and it's National Film Score Day, we throw it back
and reminisce, and we talk about movies with the best music,
movies with the perfect music, soundtrack, or score. It doesn't

(21:23):
matter best music. We'll get to your phone calls next.
Al Right, Cavino and Rich. Now, is your business struggling
to balance workforce needs with production demands in a variable economy,
balancing your spending while maintaining the necessary stuff. It can
be very tricky for your team. It's time to try
something new. How about Express Employment Professional Professionals. They can

Welcome back to the show. Is everybody thinking Sandlot right now?
I see we did there. Here We're talking movies and
music and tie in sports a little bit. Now you
hear us at every ballpark too, but you have the
whole Sandlot soundtrack. It's baseball season, swam it season, and

(22:52):
today is National Film Score Day and intribute to Val Kilmer.
We're talking about movies. He was in so many great ones.
But what are the movies old school and fifty hits?
The movies with the best music, whether it be soundtrack,
score or both. Before we get to the phone calls
and we get to you next eight seven seven ninety

(23:12):
nine out Fox Iowa, Sam, what do you got?

Speaker 1 (23:15):
Oh? You want to go to mine? Now?

Speaker 4 (23:17):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (23:17):
Okay?

Speaker 3 (23:17):
So I love this song so much it became the
bead music for a bit that I've had over the
years at Fox Sports Radio that's gone on hiatus several times,
called the Iowa Minute, but it's the main theme song
to Stripes by Elmer Bernstein? Does this not want to
make you go fight for your country? And also, you
know late maybe land some chicks in a cool r

(23:38):
RV that has missiles on.

Speaker 2 (23:39):
It just makes me think of staying up late to
watch eighties movies.

Speaker 3 (23:44):
Good one, Sam, I like this, so this is like
the bad music to my Iowa minutes.

Speaker 1 (23:47):
So this is a special. This one's special to me.
Old school and fifty hits.

Speaker 2 (23:51):
We do it every Thursday again We're Covino and Rich
at Covino and Rich on social media. Great one, Sam,
And now then Eg's on the phones at eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox we go to you.

Speaker 1 (24:01):
Who do we got trip in Vegas?

Speaker 9 (24:03):
It's up Trip, gentlemen. Gright Show as always. Tombstone would
be my Valkilmer movie. I like Robin Williams better than
John Williams, and then my two movies would be John
Williams did Jurassic Park. And then also how about you
gotta love this one, Chariots a Fire.

Speaker 2 (24:24):
Chariots a Fire is a great one, but Jurassic Park
fan fantastic and any running scene in any TV show
or video game included the Chariots of Fire music.

Speaker 1 (24:36):
As a result, movie.

Speaker 2 (24:38):
I think of Vacation with Chevy Chase and Russ running
to Wally World, any like I said the video game
track and Field, whatever involved running, whether it be a
segment on a TV show.

Speaker 10 (24:49):
Yeah, it's it's this wait for it, but you have
to do it in slow motion.

Speaker 2 (24:55):
This is synonymous with running Now and forever.

Speaker 1 (24:59):
Remember he goes russ al.

Speaker 2 (25:00):
Ratia and the symbols, remember Chevy Chase and put his
arms out like So this song is actually called Vangelists.

Speaker 3 (25:12):
Everyone knows it as the Chariots of Fire theme, but
it's called Evangels. Isn't Charits of Fire just about like
long distance running?

Speaker 1 (25:17):
Right? I believe?

Speaker 9 (25:18):
So.

Speaker 3 (25:18):
I don't think anybody's actually seen Chariots of Fire. Maybe
our parents, but no.

Speaker 2 (25:21):
But I played Track and Field on Nintendo. Listen to
listen to this.

Speaker 1 (25:25):
It's majestic, all right? Who do we got to ask?

Speaker 11 (25:28):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (25:29):
What's up? Josh?

Speaker 9 (25:31):
Hey, But I'll be.

Speaker 2 (25:34):
I'll be your Huckleberry, Rich will be your Dingleberry.

Speaker 1 (25:39):
Stop it, I'll be.

Speaker 11 (25:42):
I'll be putting on heat this weekend criminally underrated movie
about the criminal underworld where he's more of a supporting role.

Speaker 2 (25:50):
Yeah, it's a good one from val Kilm Marale.

Speaker 1 (25:54):
Let's get it right. Which one was it? The he
what he just said? He said heat? I think he
said heat. Yeah, he said, oh, he said, he he's
great Marcel in La. What's up, Marcel? What's up?

Speaker 9 (26:04):
Guys?

Speaker 12 (26:04):
So for Val Kilmer, I'm gonna go with the movie
I got showed by my parents when I was a kid.
It's The Ghost in the Darkness.

Speaker 1 (26:11):
Yes, yes, awesome movie.

Speaker 12 (26:16):
Yeah, it's a great movie. But it's the true story
kind of I believe, because I believe those lines are
in the museum.

Speaker 11 (26:22):
And then for.

Speaker 12 (26:23):
Soundtrack, I gotta go Lord of the Rings. Any war
seen in the movie. Especially you guys stole my my,
my Jurassic Park one, so I'm.

Speaker 4 (26:34):
Gonna have to.

Speaker 1 (26:35):
Yeah, Draftic Park is a good one.

Speaker 2 (26:36):
And so many of these are Robin Williams, not Robin
Liz you said, John Williams or Alan Silvestri, so many.

Speaker 1 (26:43):
Of them A Lord of the Rings?

Speaker 2 (26:47):
All right, Bruno Brooklyn, what's Gelman?

Speaker 11 (26:52):
Good afternoon? Hey man, I'm sounding like a broken record
here when everybody's talking about the same stuff. But the
one thing I wanted to bring up real quick when
they've made The Natural, going to talk about but when
they made The Natural they shot the stadium scenes. I
was going to college in Buffalo at the time, and
we were actually extras in that movie up in the stands.
It was great. I mean it was pretty funky to
be there. I mean a long time ago, but I

(27:12):
still remember it. They had cardboard cutouts for a lot
of a lot of the stands, but they actually have people.
That being said, back to val the reason why I
like a tombstone role in Doc Holliday is think about
his characters up to then. He's a handsome cat. He
always plays the stud you know, iceman, all these you know,
like an heat He always plays the good looking, tough guy,

(27:34):
and then all of a sudden he shows off as
he is deathly old cat. One of the best scenes
ever was when Ringo starts with him in the bar,
spinning his guns, doing his thing, and then you know,
Doc just takes his cup and spins it around and
spins it around and spins it around. It completely deflates him.

Speaker 9 (27:51):
Fantastic role.

Speaker 11 (27:52):
The guy looked like he was going to die at
any minute. Phenomenal, Such a separation from who he normally was.
That's for me. That's it for Valve. As far as movies,
you're gonna laugh at this one. Think about more modern soundtracks.
But just like for rock and roll type stuff. You
gotta look at stuff like Goodfellows again, the score not great,
but all the good two is that werenat for Casino

(28:14):
again that was kind of crazy movies where the sound
set you know, think about uh, you know those flicks
where the tracks actually set the mood really really well.

Speaker 2 (28:23):
And Laila Layla the song Laila especially, I think, yeah,
when it comes to Goodfellas, you know certain soundtracks we
must have in your collection.

Speaker 1 (28:32):
That's Bruno, the wonder Boy. Everybody the wonder Boy Bruno.

Speaker 2 (28:36):
And you know what, speaking of Bruno, I thought, we
don't talk about Brune. No, you got to give Lynn
Manuel Miranda some props. As far as music to movies,
I mean the movies with music. If you saw malana
I with your kids, you could realize that he wasn't
part of it. The music lacked compared. I mean, he's
a modern day guy making an impact for sure. No,

(28:58):
but you know when he has his fingers in on
the action. Uh, Kevin in Ohio?

Speaker 1 (29:03):
What's up? Kevin Joe?

Speaker 9 (29:06):
As always, you guys are you guys are just awesome?

Speaker 4 (29:10):
For my movie, it's a moral imperative that we watch
real genius. Yes, This Night The Man, and then the movies.
I'm gonna lump the Rockies together, if that's all right,
because between there's no easy way out and I am
a Tiger, and of course you know the main Rocky team.

(29:32):
You can't go wrong there, but leave the weapon for
and then on knocking on Heaven's door and then, uh.

Speaker 2 (29:41):
That's a big one for sure. Great cal Man, Thank you, Kevin,
you de Man.

Speaker 1 (29:45):
As always.

Speaker 2 (29:47):
The second one I even thought was entertaining, the Beverly
Hills cop They just came out like a year ago.
I have a sports one. I thought you were a
bigger fan of Beverly Hills Ninja.

Speaker 1 (29:56):
Isn't it great? I love it. I love Beverly Hills.
That's Chris farther when Chris Carley's trying out all the weapons.

Speaker 3 (30:03):
Oh, that was great. Like Tarzan Baltimoa, Tarzan Boy. Maybe
I could bounce back with that. Hey, let me give
you let me give you one, and then we'll go
to DV for an update. Kevino's never seen this movie because,
as he likes to say, if it was in the nineties,
he was out getting booty while we were all sitting
at home.

Speaker 2 (30:20):
Well, yeah, I'm three years older than rich. So he
was picking his nose watching movies with mom and dad. Yeah,
I was doing my thing.

Speaker 1 (30:26):
I have told him plenty of times, dude, sit down
with your daughter.

Speaker 2 (30:30):
The Mighty Ducks movies are great. And I realized, you
know what, there is a great soundtrack to the Mighty Ducks.
And you'll know the song when you playing. Oh yeah,
sounds quecktastic. Yeah it's it'll make you shed a tear.

Speaker 1 (30:45):
Gordon Bumby teaching those kids. Who's the composer on this one?
The Flying.

Speaker 3 (30:53):
David Music composing conducted by David Newman. David So, I
don't know if any release, Oh probably not. Hey never
know who knows?

Speaker 1 (31:03):
Well.

Speaker 2 (31:03):
Hey. On that note, let's go to our buddy and
yours dad buyer for an update.

Speaker 1 (31:07):
What UPDB, what's going on? Guys?

Speaker 5 (31:09):
Some news from the NFL today, Raiders quarterback Geno Smith
getting an extension from the team.

Speaker 1 (31:15):
Not much of a surprise.

Speaker 5 (31:16):
Seemed to be part of the deal when he was
acquired by the Raiders from the Seattle Seahawks to year extension,
were they guaranteed sixty six and a half million dollars.
Fox Sports NFL inCider Jordan Schultz says Smith's deal could
be worth up to eighty five and a half million dollars.
The Arizona Cardinals made ten and Trey McBride, the highest
paid height end in the NFL, gets a four year

(31:36):
extension with seventy six million dollars, while the Cowboys swung
a deal. Backup quarterback Joe Milton of the Patriots acquired
by the Cowboys along with a seventh round pick. In exchange,
New England gets a fifth thron pick from Dallas. The
NBA handed out warnings, but no fines or suspensions to
Grizzlies guard John Morant and Warriors guard Buddy Healed for
mimicking the firing of a gun during their game on Tuesday.

(31:58):
NBA insider Chris Haynes says Nicks guard Jalen Brunson will
practice tomorrow and has a chance to return from his
ankle injury. On Saturday against the Hawks, Kyle Schwarber homert
for the fourth time the season. Philly has completed a
three game sweep of the Rockies three to one. Red
Sox doubled up the Orioles eight four, and the Astros
lead the Twins right now five to two in the
top of the ninth inning. A couple of college basketball notes.
Auburn All American forwards and I Broome practice today. He's

(32:21):
expected to play Saturday against Florida, while USC's Juju Watkins
named the Associated Press Women's College Basketball Player of the Year.

Speaker 1 (32:28):
Guys, back to.

Speaker 2 (32:29):
You, hey, thank you, dB, Dan Byer on the update.
Good Where Cavino and Rich we throw it back every Thursday.
Speaking of updates, Iowa, Sam just did the research and
apparently David Newman is cousins with Randy Newman.

Speaker 1 (32:46):
And the uncle's Alfred Newman of Mad Magazine.

Speaker 3 (32:49):
Alfred Newman, the renowned film composer, not the guy from
Mad Magazine.

Speaker 5 (32:53):
But also Vangelis is the composer of Chariots a Fire.

Speaker 13 (32:57):
So oh, I'm sorry, sorry, thank you, And GB so hey,
learn little something today again it is National Film Score
Day and rock and peace rest in peace, legend, Val Kilmer.

Speaker 2 (33:11):
Your feedback continues eight seven seven ninety nine one Fox

No face paint holding up a sword, gladiator, No, no.

Speaker 1 (34:35):
No, I'm not glad Braveheart. It's a good one. Once
it got to the swell. There I do it. James
Horner in the London Symphony.

Speaker 2 (34:47):
Hey, speaking of movies again, Rest in peace, Val Kilmer.
It is National Film Score Day. We honor him today
and throughout the weekend because you got to pick a
movie to watch this weekend. I do want to say
that today a legendary trailer came out. I see legendary
because I didn't know what to expect and it made
me laugh out loud, and that's not easy to do.

(35:08):
The Naked Gun trailer came out today.

Speaker 1 (35:10):
Did you see that? I saw it, you know, And.

Speaker 2 (35:11):
At first when they told when I first heard they
were going to redo this movie, he was like, oh,
come on, don't do that. But you got Seth MacFarlane involved,
and he's handling it just right. Liam Neeson doing his thing.
We laughed, and that dude, you know that. I always
forget his name, you know, Sting Ray from Cobra Kai.
He's playing Chris Farley in his biopic. I always forget

(35:32):
his real name. But he's also in the movie. Yeah,
Paul Walters, Yeah, yeah, him, He's also in this movie.
And it looks really funny. So when you're doing the
bowl scroll later on today, Paul walter Hauser, Paul Walter
Hauser is also in it with William Neeson. And so
in in Naked Gun, it was obviously Frank Rubbin, Yeah,

(35:55):
nor Burgh was Oj. What was the big galute Frank's partner,
what was his name?

Speaker 1 (36:00):
The character the guy that's like Frank.

Speaker 3 (36:04):
He was, he was drag Line And uh, yeah, that
guy in cool Hand Luke.

Speaker 6 (36:09):
Right.

Speaker 2 (36:09):
So in the trailer you realize that Liam Neeson this
is not giving anything away. It's in the trailer he's
playing Frank Drubbin Junior and Sting Kennedy, George Kennedy, the
character the ed edited Ed's kid is sting right, sting
right from Cobrak and and and uh, Liam Neeson plays

(36:31):
Leslie Nielsen's kid. And then they go to see who's
playing OJ's kid, and it's a young black actor and
he's like, nah.

Speaker 1 (36:39):
It's very funny stuff.

Speaker 2 (36:41):
So later on check the trailer at dropped today for
Naked Gun.

Speaker 1 (36:44):
It's the It's.

Speaker 10 (36:45):
Naked Gun four and a quarter because I remember it
was thirty three.

Speaker 1 (36:51):
Tons.

Speaker 2 (36:52):
Naked Gun. It's back is kind of funny. Speaking of
movies comes out August first. Again, we're Covino and Rich
and Express and professionals can provide contract workers to flex
up for peak seasons without having to raise your core
work first head count. Manage your workforce differently. Visit Expresspros
dot com today. That's Expresspros dot com today. And since

(37:13):
we're filling in for Colin tomorrow Rich tomorrow morning, we're
in for the herd. We're gonna do this week's Pro
of the Week, and the Express Pros Pro of the
Week goes two. Who was it? Who was a big
surprise show hail Otani? When you got Otani, millions of

(37:35):
people waiting for a bobblehead and then you hit a
walk off home run on your MVP bobblehead day in
typical show Hay style, you deserve the Express Pro Pro theeek.
He's bet in three thirty three, three home runs, three
RBI and he's just a superstar, So props to him.
Congrats to show Heltani for again having another moment last

(37:59):
night and for being our Express Pros Pro of the week.
I feel like Otani is going to be the Pro
the week many weeks now. Who I would have given
it to remember former Met now San Francisco Giant Wilmore
Flores like a really like a great clubhouse. Got people
love Wilmore frying when he left the Mets. I remember
that he was so happy to be with the Mets.
You know, he's the league leader in homer he's taught,
he's I believe, second in home runs four in the

(38:22):
first week.

Speaker 1 (38:22):
Wilmore Flores has four home runs in the first week
of the Major League Baseball season. So does Anthony Volpedo.

Speaker 2 (38:28):
Then look at that, Well, hey, else is going besides
baseball and of course some great NBA tonight.

Speaker 1 (38:32):
We're gonna talk Lakers Warriors in a second.

Speaker 2 (38:35):
But you got the last four, the last four teams
NC double A, Florida, Auburn, Houston Duke. Some would say, like,
where's the underdog? Some would say, this is what it's
supposed to be, Like all your number ones. First time
since eight you have all four number ones. And if
you go to DraftKings and you're trying to figure out
what to do with I mean, do I is there
really such thing as an underdog when it's four number

(38:58):
one seeds? But Duke is the biggest favorite. Duke is
a five and a half point favorite over Houston. Houston
thirty four and four this year. Houston is not. This
is not an easy game for anyone, So maybe you've
wont to have some fun with it. Go with the
underdogs Houston five and a half point underdog and Florida
favored over Auburn two and a half point favorite. So I,

(39:19):
if you asked me, I feel like Houston might be
the fun one there because I feel like everyone's like
Duke's gonna win the whole thing.

Speaker 1 (39:24):
Have some fun Houston. Why not?

Speaker 2 (39:26):
You're getting five and a half points again, all DraftKings,
sports ball, and speaking of basketball, big game tonight, and
it's not gonna be blacked out, thankfully, because out here
in LA it's hard to watch the Lakers. So Danny
G you said on TNT tonight, right, sure, what do
you expect him tonight?

Speaker 1 (39:42):
Man?

Speaker 7 (39:42):
A dog fight because this game is important for both teams?

Speaker 1 (39:46):
You know? Yeah?

Speaker 7 (39:47):
This the West has not been this tight in years' fun.

Speaker 1 (39:51):
Tighter than Rich's jeans in the early two thousands. Yeah,
for fun.

Speaker 7 (39:55):
Later, look up Western Conference NBA and look how many
teams are log jammed with the low forties in the
win column.

Speaker 1 (40:03):
And you know what, Danny.

Speaker 2 (40:03):
That means that if a team finishes hot or cold,
that could be the difference between like like a four
at eight seed or like a five and a play
in essentially so again Tonight the Golden State Warriors forty
four and thirty one Golden State Warriors at the LA
Lakers forty six and twenty nine TNT game. Definitely watch
it because we'll be talking about it tomorrow. So a

(40:23):
fun game to look forward to tonight. And hold on
and tech. You know the four, five, six, seven, and eight.
That's Nuggets, Golden State, Tea, Wolves, Clippers, and Grizzlies. Those
are one, two three, Those six five year teams are
within two games in the lost column. Now saye yeah,
enjoy the game and enjoy your Thursday night. Start the

(40:45):
weekend tonight and enjoy over Promised Episode eighty six. We
started in six minutes on Fox Sports Radios YouTube page,
s Our Bonus Show. We're talking Dodgers and people we
don't forgive. I'm a little mad at somebody. You'll find
out who on Overprime Gotta Forgive. Plus tomorrow we're in
for Colin on the Herd. I will see you then.
Until then, Ribadecci baby to you in the over Promised Land.
