You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
Here we Go, hour two and a Friday live in
Los Angeles. It's the Herd. Wherever you may be and
however you may be listening. Thanks for making us part
of your day. Things are Hummon, baby humming. Big NFL weekend.
Cowboys won last night. I know, very exciting. It is interesting.

(00:47):
Cowboys Dak Prescott twenty four and four against the Giants
and Washington. So excuse me if I don't take anything
from the wind. I said yesterday, Al's go in, Ceed's
gonna look good. Michael have a couple of slash plays.
I've seen this now for seven years. It doesn't mean

(01:08):
and this Dallas team's less talented. I said. For if
you can take a team outside of quarterback, if you
can take a team and say just take that guy out,
like Minnesota doesn't have Justin Jefferson or Jordan Edison or TJ.
Hawkinson and the offense game clinching drive. That's a team. Now,

(01:31):
quarterback obviously is different. If you take Cede Lamb out
of the Cowboys, they don't have a single great player.

Speaker 3 (01:39):
Wait, what about that fullback number one from number yeh,
We've not heard of him in my life and he
was like catching passes on someone?

Speaker 4 (01:45):
Who is this guy?

Speaker 1 (01:45):
No, No, there's a lot of teams in the league
that fool you. Like the Raiders. Take out Davonte Adams
and Max Crosby. That's two guys. And I would argue,
just take out Max Crosby. If you take Max Crosby
out of the Raiders, because they don't have a star
quarterback to get it to the star receiver, you just
take Max Crosby out, you think they're bad.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
Now what are the Giants without?

Speaker 1 (02:09):
I'll tell you great offensive coach, great left tackle, great
defensive front. Giants have all sorts of elements. Dallas has one.
Dallas's online stinks, Dallas's d lines terrible, Dallas Dallas has.
I mean, neither of.

Speaker 4 (02:28):
The Giants have more to if you remove both wide receivers.

Speaker 1 (02:30):
Yes, wow, if you put Dak on the Giants. They
kicked the you know what out of Dallas last night.
They blow them off their doors off. I got Dak Neighbors,
great left tackle, great d line, great offensive coach. Dallas
got one great one, great ceed Lamb. Giants have. Giants

(02:51):
are Tampa before Brady got there. You're like, oh, I
didn't never watch Shaq Barrett didn't. I didn't know much
about Vita Villa. I didn't know. All of a sudden,
you look at Chris Godwind, Oh he's there too. They
just had to get a right tackle upgrade the running
back room. Gronk want to get some sun cute girls
down here, all right? I mean, seriously, the Giants, let's

(03:12):
say Elik Neighbors is hurt. Okay, they're not as good
at receiver. But I love the coach. I love the
left tackle. I love the defensive life. Dexter Lawrence is
one of the best defensive tackles in the game. And
I'm not good. He's great and his secondary couldn't stop anybody.
Their secondary had injuries. Nobody has a great secondary. I
mean Sauce Guard last year wasn't as good. Second. I

(03:34):
mean Patrick Sirtan hasn't had a good year secondary. Every
team in the league, every single team in the league.
If you there's a huge cornerback shortage in the NFL,
huge issue. I mean, go ask any general manager. They're
all saying the same thing. It is so easy for
us to find a number three receiver and impossible to
find a number two.

Speaker 3 (03:54):
Corn Some of that is scheme, right, well, no, some
of it is curious. Need was awesome in Kansas City.
You've seen what he's done in Tennessee. Not good at
all across the board, all his numbers one.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
What a shock. Brett Beach and the Chiefs work the
type exactly. All right. Off a winning week, Let's not
waste any time. Here's the Blazing five.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
Let's blaze it up, fired up, It's Collins Blazon. Fuck
Eagles a.

Speaker 1 (04:20):
Buckety, I'm taking the Eagles, baby, minus one and a half.
You can all complain. They have a number two offense
in the league and they just went to New Orleans,
loudest place in the league to play and beat the Saints.
Jalen Hurts had three hundred and eleven yards offense. The
offense isn't the problem. They're turning it over too. Much.
But Saquon Barkley leads the NFL in touches, rushing yards,

(04:40):
and touchdowns in the NFL. And by the way, they
got a defense too. Meanwhile, Tampa the offense in the
last two games, they're a disaster on third down and
they're averaging thirteen points a game and they have seventeen players.
Does Tampa on the injury list if the weather's an issue,
it helps. Phillys offense is hummon. Mike Evans hurt, Chris

(05:03):
Godwin hurt, Tristan Wurf's hurt. They're terrible now on third down.
Baker's good, He's not great. He can't afford to be
missing people. I like the Eagles doing it. Thirty to
twenty four. Swallow the points, Rams said Bears. Everybody likes
the Bears. I'll take the Rams. Here's why. Chicago's just
not well coached offensively, old line and running back have

(05:26):
a running back room has regressed badly. Same players, they
were ascending players, they've all gone backwards. Thirty first ranked
rushing offense. Literally last week, you're getting all the carries,
you're getting none of the yards. The Bears offense is
virtually awful at everything. And we liked. We thought the
old line was getting better. We thought the run game
would have some potency. This is a coaching quarterback mismatch.

(05:49):
The Bears also have thirteen players on the injury list,
as the Rams O line is getting healthier. I'm gonna
take the Rams plus three points to win twenty four
to twenty.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
Outright, Commander said Cardinal. I really like this one.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
I'm gonna take Arizona and swallow the three and a
half points. They're at home. The Cardinals have the best
point differential in the NFL for a losing team. Their
losses were to the Bills and Lions, super Bowl level teams.
Kyler Murray this season is completing almost sixty nine percent
of his throws. He's got a star receiver, he's got
a star back. He's getting decent protection. Washington. It's called

(06:28):
regression of the meme. Jaden Williams is completing eighty percent
of his throws. That's coming down, Jaden. They're the only
team without a turnover this season. They're gonna have one.
This is the time to sell on Washington at least
a little bit. They're not gonna play perfect offensive football,
never punt or turn the ball over again. Also, Austin
Eckler's banged up, so Jayden may not have a star
running back, and the Commander's defense is arguably the worst

(06:51):
in the league. It is a trocious Arizona is gonna
eat swallow the points. I don't even think it'll be
this close. Thirty three twenty four. Washington offense looks like
everybody else's. They'll turn it over, throw in completions and tunt.

Speaker 2 (07:10):
Bill said.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
Ravens the wise guys like the Ravens. I like the Ravens.
First of all, Buffalo again, everybody's on fire. We do
this every year. Oh my god. We love Buffalo. I
love Buffalo. But it's a short week and this is
a very big game for Baltimore. They're a toe a
toe length from beating Kansas City. They hammer Dallas, only
team to have top ten players, two in the top

(07:33):
ten in rushing, Lamar and Derrick Henry. They're number one
in the league in total offense. They're fine, but but
they have a new defensive coordinator and they're trying to
figure that out. But their offense is fantastic. Multiple injuries
at linebacker and corner for Buffalo and the Ravens aren't
like the Bills early opponents. They're gonna run the football.

(07:56):
They're not perimeter based. They are run based. It's at Baltimore,
short week, Buffalo whise guys like Baltimore, so do I.
Twenty eight twenty four, they win, they cover Seahawks said Lions.
Lions are missing, they're all pro center. I'm gonna take
the points here. Under dogs have done very well this year.

(08:17):
I'm gonna take Geno Smith the number one PFF grated
defense plus three and a half. Detroit's good, but they
haven't been great this year. So and here's the thing
with the Seahawks. Geno completes passes and they can run
the football, so they're gonna play some keep away. We
know Detroit's got the best offensive line, but do you
know right now Jared Goff has more picks than touchdowns.

(08:39):
They are just off and this defense is sensational in Seattle.
I think it's a go down to the end game
because because it's in Detroit, I probably think the Lions win.
But I'll take the hook. I'll take Seattle. I'll take
three and a half. This defense against an offense, whatever

(09:01):
the reasons missing, their great center. That's not clicking. It's
just not quite right. I'm gonna take the points, So
here you go. I like a few favorites this week.
Eagle slight favorite. I'll take them, Arizona slight favorite, Ravens
slight favorite. Take them my two dogs. Rams quarterback coaching

(09:23):
advantage over Chicago three and a half, two many. When
you have a great defense, that hook, you gotta take it.
Gotta take the hook, all right. Albert Breer, lead guy,
Monday Morning quarterback, joining us live here on a Friday.
So I made this argument. You gotta hear me out

(09:44):
in my crazy argument. All right, very rarely do you
have no run game, an average quarterback and dominate time
of possession. Go for a winning drive and better on
third down, more first downs, more total yards. Okay, this

(10:06):
is with Daniel Jones and no run game and you're
driving for the win. My takeaway is this, Before Brady
got to Tampa, we thought it was a circus and
it was like no, no, no. The bones were good, the
bones were good. They needed to right tackle, upgrade their
running back room. If you look at the Giants, elite
left tackle, elite weapon, excellent offensive coach, excellent defensive front

(10:30):
with stars. They're doing the best they can with Daniel Jones.
The bones are here. The bones. It's no, they're not
going to get Brady like Tampa. But the bones were
in Houston Albert left tackle Nico Collins. They were fourth
and takeaways defensively, they needed a coach and a quarterback.
Giants have their coach. I nothing against Daniel. I think

(10:53):
the bones are in New York. I think they're just
missing a guy. Am I nuts.

Speaker 5 (10:58):
I think the.

Speaker 6 (10:59):
Problem right now is that we're all looking at Daniel
Jones through the lens of his contract, which is natural.

Speaker 1 (11:06):
Right.

Speaker 6 (11:06):
He's making forty million dollars a year, and that offends
some people's sensibilities. I think what Daniel Jones effectively is
for Brian Daball and Joe Shane is their bridge quarterback.
Now he's a high priced bridge quarterback, but he's their
bridge quarterback.

Speaker 5 (11:21):
And you know what they've seen.

Speaker 6 (11:23):
I'd say, like now the last three weeks is a
quarterback who's capable of playing at the level he played
at in twenty twenty two. I just talking to front
office people, coaches there, they felt like the last two
weeks weeks two and three before this Dallas game, where
his two best weeks since the end of the twenty
twenty two seasons. So twenty twenty two. Daniel Jones isn't

(11:43):
all pro. He's not Patrick Mahomes Josh Allen, but he's
steady and good enough. And you know what Jones has
been for them. I think over the last three years
is somebody that can be steady, that is going to
be good for younger players coming in and ultimate we
can hold the rope until they can.

Speaker 5 (12:01):
Find a long term answer at the quarterback position.

Speaker 2 (12:04):
So I'm with you.

Speaker 6 (12:06):
I love Andrew Thomas at left tackle. He did a
great job on Michael Parsons last night. I think they've
got three really good pieces in their defensive front.

Speaker 5 (12:13):
Like you said, Brian Burns Caveon Thibodeaux.

Speaker 6 (12:15):
Oh yeah, and Dexter Lawrence. They got a promising young
corner and Deontay Banks. Yes, they've got a really good
young receiver in elite Neighbors. That's those are all premium positions, Colin.
So they've got a lot of the premium positions checked
off now with good young ascending players.

Speaker 5 (12:31):
The one question is quarterback.

Speaker 6 (12:32):
And again, like if Daniel Jones was making ten or
fifteen million dollars a year, we wouldn't be saying anything
about him. We're saying something about him because he was
a sixth overall pick, because he's making forty million dollars
per year. But if you look at him as just
the bridge quarterback, which I think is how the Giants
view him right now, then he maybe take.

Speaker 5 (12:49):
A different view of this.

Speaker 6 (12:51):
I think they're going to be aggressive and trying to
find their quarterback this offseason, but Daniel Jones is just
a bridge.

Speaker 1 (12:56):
Okay, So I want to tuk Steeler for a second.
This is interesting. So guys like Andy Reid move off
good quarterbacks, Alex Smith, McVeigh moves off golf, Kyle moves
off Garoppolo, who got him to a Super Bowl. Defensive coaches,
in my opinion, often lack the urgency at quarterback. Pete
Carroll's like Gino's good enough, Ron Revere's like Sam Haw's

(13:17):
good enough. So here's what's interesting. If the Steelers win
this weekend, they're four and oh virtually impossible. They can
go five hundred the rest of the way and basically
be a ten win team, right almost, ye and and
and so I look at Pittsburgh.

Speaker 5 (13:29):
I think that is right.

Speaker 1 (13:31):
If you go four and oh, you can go five
hundred the rest of the way until the final game,
you can go so yeah, you can go six and
six and.

Speaker 5 (13:39):
You're in ten games.

Speaker 6 (13:39):
Yeah, if you go under five a game under five hundred.
Now the seventeen yet yeah yeah, sorry, I'm a math either.
I can do that in my head.

Speaker 1 (13:48):
This is why we're into sports. But if they go
four and oh, may not in the Indy's got an
offensive line they can control things Taylor Anthony Richardson. But
if they go for oh, But here's the thing. The
Steelers moved off pick it because it just didn't work
at all. But if Justin Fields wins ten's games with
this defense, hey, I don't think they're moving off him
for Russell Wilson. So it's fascinating they get a Russell

(14:12):
Wilson issue. And what if they win ten games. Let's
just look at the Steelers defensive culture where they are
right now. So let's start with this. Yeah, what do
they do if they go four and oh with Russell Wilson?
What are they gonna do?

Speaker 6 (14:26):
Yeah, I mean I think right now it's Justin Field's
job to lose. There's very strong support, like a tidal
wave of support for Justin Fields and building there, and
there are some people who think the decision is obvious
that they have to stick with.

Speaker 5 (14:40):
Justin Fields as their starter. Colin.

Speaker 6 (14:42):
He's improved week over week. His completion percentages of his
sack ratio is down, the ball is coming out. And
I don't know how much you've been around him, but
just from a personality standpoint, he is a Steeler and
I'm not sure Russ is.

Speaker 5 (14:58):
So he's been a really good fit in the locker
room as well.

Speaker 6 (15:00):
He's got the support of his teammates, and he's playing
a style of football that really fits what that team
is right now, which is they're trying to build behind
an offensive line that's young but has a lot of
highly drafted guys and then an outstanding defense. And so
he's giving them exactly what they need right now. And
I think who the offensive coordinator is is puts an

(15:21):
interesting twist on this too, and that Arthur Smith was
the guy who resurrected Ryan Tannehill in Tennessee. I can
just tell you the coaches there believe that they can
do more with Justin Fields than Arthur Smith was able
to do with Ryan Tannehill in Tennessee, and you remember
another defensive coach there in Mike Brable as the head coach. Right,
they got to an AFC Championship game with Ryan Tannehill

(15:43):
as the quarterback. So there's a lot of belief in
what Fields has done. There's belief that Field still has
a lot of upside left to go and pursue over
the course of the year, that he's a really good fit.
And I just think the belief among a lot of
people there is that Russell Wilson and will put some
limitations on the offense that.

Speaker 5 (16:02):
They don't have right now in the Fields.

Speaker 1 (16:04):
Right.

Speaker 6 (16:04):
So again, you know, I think the obvious decision here
for some people in that building would be to go
with Fields.

Speaker 5 (16:11):
You know, the question is do you want to give
Russ one run at it?

Speaker 6 (16:14):
Because if you decide to stick with Fields, that's probably
it for Russell. Whereas if you decide, hey, we'll give
Russell a shot at it, which is this is Mike
Tomlin's call, then it's very easy to go back to
Fields if he fails.

Speaker 1 (16:25):
Okay, I want to go back to the Cowboys because
Jmack brought something up earlier is that the Cowboys have
a history to validate their draft picks of re signing
their picks and off and overpaying him. And I believe
Dallas Ceedee Lamb is their only great player. Dak is
paid like one, but he's good. And Micah Parsons And
I'll throw this out there. Micah three playoff games, one sack.

(16:49):
He is not TJ Watt, He's not Nick Bosa, he's
not Miles Garrett, he's not Hutchison. Last night against a
great left tackle, he has a splash play, doesn't really matter.
He is situationally great. He disciplate. It's the difference between
Nick and Joey Bosa. Joey as splash plays. Nick dominates
the tape. Nick scares you, I'm not paying top of

(17:12):
the market. I'll pay it for Justin Jefferson, Trent Williams,
Miles Garrett, Mahomes and but this is Dallas. They're gonna
pay Micah because they drafted him, and it justifies that.
It shows how brilliant they are. But you're paying Ceede Lamb,
Dak and Micah Parsons. This roster is thin. They got
dominated time of possession last night by a team with

(17:34):
an average quarterback with no run game. I know they won.
I think this is the beginning of Look at their schedule.

Speaker 2 (17:41):
I don't buy their schedules.

Speaker 1 (17:43):
Yeah, I don't buy it content. I mean where where
where are they as an organization? I think they're bottom
half now going forward?

Speaker 6 (17:53):
So so I think like the big thing to look
at here, you know what you're talking about, right with
paying guys at the top of the market.

Speaker 5 (17:59):
So Dak's making sixty, CD's making thirty four.

Speaker 6 (18:03):
The likelihood is that Micah could be making you know,
close to forty. You know, you got Trayvon Diggs who's
on a big cornerback contract.

Speaker 5 (18:12):
The reality is, you know what that does is it forces.

Speaker 6 (18:15):
You to draft, well, you know, all over the place,
because then you're not going to be able to find
the five or ten million dollars to make up for
a mistake.

Speaker 5 (18:23):
So you have to be nails drafting.

Speaker 7 (18:25):
Now.

Speaker 6 (18:25):
The good news is the Cowboys have been really good drafting.
But it means finding a guy like an overshawn at
linebacker who's been really good in his first year as
a starter.

Speaker 2 (18:33):
It means Tyler.

Speaker 6 (18:34):
Geidon has to hit it left tackle and he didn't
look great last night. Cooper bebe really good draft pick
for them out of Kansas State. It has been really
good at center as a rookie so far. That's where
they have to make up the difference if you're going
to have this top heavy roster. It's kind of like
Bill Pollian's Colts, right like when they had five or
six guys that were making a ton of money and
they had to have draft picks everywhere else. That's the

(18:54):
Cowboys structure now, and that's where they have to continue
to draft and develop players the rate that they have
been for the last fifteen or twenty years. And that's
really really hard to do. And I would say there's
a hidden area where it's shown up now. You know, Colin,
how bad their run defense was through a couple of weeks.
Much better last night, But you know, over the first
first few weeks this season really really bad.

Speaker 5 (19:16):
And that was going back to last year too.

Speaker 6 (19:19):
A major reason why is over the first three weeks
of this season, because they don't trust their depth in
their defensive front. DeMarcus Lawrence and Micah Parsons were playing
way too many snaps and they were putting way too
much on those guys. So they were effectively killing their
best players because they didn't have answers behind them, because
they lost guys like Dorince Armstrong in free agency, and

(19:42):
how do you replace them. Well, if you're playing paying
your top players a ton, you can't go get the
five or ten million dollar pass rusher to replace a
guy like that in the roster.

Speaker 5 (19:50):
So that's another area where you're looking at it.

Speaker 6 (19:53):
So I think so much of this is going to
come down to how the young players on the roster
develop over the next.

Speaker 5 (19:59):
Eight weeks, you know, through the scauntlet part of their schedule.

Speaker 6 (20:02):
If guys like Geiton and Bbie and Overshan become stars,
then I think the Cowboys have a chance to get
back to double digit wins and be a factor in
the playoffs. If they don't, then I think we're talking
about something else with Dallas, and maybe some changes in
the offseason as well.

Speaker 1 (20:17):
One more Belichick is bell of the ball all media.
This isn't what Bill wants to do. He's having fun,
but he's sitting around on Sunday watching all these games.
You can tell he's keeping his brain sharp. If he's
not interested in personnel, I would hire him. His last
six drafts were awful. Is there a leader in the

(20:39):
clubhouse you're sniffing around on Belichick in a year?

Speaker 6 (20:43):
Yeah, I mean I would keep my eye on the
NFC East, right like, so you know, like the Giants,
the Eagles, the Cowboys.

Speaker 5 (20:50):
You know, he's got relationships and all those buildings.

Speaker 6 (20:52):
Obviously there's this nostalgia factor that's really where you know,
he made his name as an NFL coach for the
first time with the Giants, relationship with ownership there. With
the Eagles, he's got a relationship with the general manager,
Howie Roseman. With the Cowboys, he's got a relationship with
the Joneses. So I think the NFC s, which is
everybody's talked about this, someone has to finish third, someone
has to finish fourth. Maybe the Cowboys, maybe the Commanders

(21:14):
aren't the last place team. So you know, like I
think you look at the three teams in the nfcas
outside of Washington, those teams will be factors. Jacksonville is
an interesting one too, And you know, if things keep
going the way they're going, and I think we're reaching
a critical point with the Jaguars. The next two weeks
they have division games against the Texans and the Colts.
Then they have to go overseas and play two games

(21:37):
in London against the Bears and Patriots. Billionaires do not
like being embarrassed and having to take an OHO to
five team to London, or maybe coming back with an
OH and sevent team wouldn't be a great look, right,
So is that where you make the change if you're Jacksonville.
I'm not saying it's going to happen, but it's just
something to consider. And that's a place where they have
a quarterback in Trevor Lawrence and Bill Belichick has relationships.

(21:59):
In fact, he has ownerships here to the point where
his good word on Doug Maroon in twenty seventeen was
a major reason why the Cons hired Doug Maroon. So
outside of the NFC East, Jacksonville would be the other
one I would keep an eye on. And here's the
other thing, Callin you mentioned the general manager question. There
are a bunch of guys on the sideline who worked
for Bill who have general manager experience, who actually did

(22:20):
a pretty good job as GM. Scott he always won.
Thomas de Mittrough, who of course was a GM in
Atlanta for all those years.

Speaker 5 (22:26):
John Robinson, who was GM in Tennessee. He's got a
bunch of personnel people he can pick from.

Speaker 6 (22:32):
If an owner says to him, we'd like to have
you bring in an experienced GM and empower.

Speaker 1 (22:37):
Him, so fascinating, that's a great call. If Jacksonville doesn't win,
they go overseas, they get embarrassed. That's such a good call.
That's not bad. He's got placed down in Florida. He
likes the East coast, he does.

Speaker 6 (22:53):
I think you could ride up You probably ride that
boat like the eight rings boat, like up from Jupiter,
couldn't he?

Speaker 1 (22:59):
That's really it? Thing as oh was Albert Bruerr bringing
the heat. He's not good at math either of mi Ie,
no big deal. He's great at what he does for
We all struggle with math gold see anybody all right?
Things going, Yeah, that's really interesting, that's really really interesting.
Hmm all right. I'm not gonna be able to get

(23:21):
that Belichick Jags thing. I'm almost now rooting against them
because I want to see. Something's wrong in Jacksonville. Trevor
Lawrence gone backwards. Something's wrong.

Speaker 3 (23:29):
But there could be better jobs than Jackson Why would
he jump to Jackson.

Speaker 1 (23:33):
What did what did. There are better jobs than the Chargers.
They had a quarterback. Well, Herbert wasn't winning games. Trevor
Lawrence isn't winning games. Everybody in the league's like, take
the Charger job. You got Trevor Lawrence. Dude, Everything in
life is buy low, sell high. They are at a.

Speaker 4 (23:54):
Low Trevor Lawrence or Joe Burrow, Who are you taking?

Speaker 1 (23:57):
They're not. They don't have a coaching opening, not yet.

Speaker 5 (24:00):
They don't know.

Speaker 4 (24:01):
They don't cover against the Panthers this week.

Speaker 1 (24:03):
The Brown Brown family is cheap. They won't pay a
nickel to move a coach.

Speaker 4 (24:09):
They championship starved as well.

Speaker 1 (24:11):
They've been championship star forever. They cheap. You want to
win something, Jim Bill, Jacksonville blow people out. They blew
Urban out in one year and wrote a huge check.
They got a lot of money Jacksonville's did. They got
a lot of money down here.

Speaker 3 (24:23):
I think Belichick's chasing money at this age.

Speaker 1 (24:25):
Think he's chasing redemption because Brady divorce was bad. Look
and I get Trevor Lawrence, but Trevor Lawrence is way
better than this.

Speaker 3 (24:32):
But Bill Belichick loves football, eats breath, sleeps football, Trevor
Lawrence doesn't. Joe Burrow seems to. I think there's a
better connection with Clee.

Speaker 1 (24:40):
Cincinnati is not moving off Cincinnati. By the way, they're
not going to pay Zach Taylor and Belichick.

Speaker 4 (24:48):
Hold on, hold on, they go to the super Bowl
and now back to back years. It doesn't matter, no
playoffs if they miss him.

Speaker 1 (24:54):
Brown Family cheap.

Speaker 4 (24:57):
You hear that Brown Family shoe Colin that you're not cheap.

Speaker 1 (25:00):
Prove it.

Speaker 4 (25:01):
Dump this chump and get in get with Belichick.

Speaker 3 (25:05):
He's a winner.

Speaker 1 (25:07):
Belichick didn't win out without Tommy. How's Tommy doing that?

Speaker 2 (25:12):
I'm boom.

Speaker 4 (25:12):
We go to commercial.

Speaker 2 (25:13):
The one More Herd. The Herd streams twenty four hours
a day, seven days a week within the iHeartRadio app.
Search Herd to listen live or on demand whenever you like.

Speaker 1 (25:24):
Oh, so many things going on. Julian Edelman last hour,
feeling good about the Blazing five. Jmak with a news no,
no turn on the news.

Speaker 2 (25:36):
This is the Herd line news.

Speaker 4 (25:38):
He's going head to head on two on the Blazing Five.

Speaker 1 (25:41):
We're going head to head.

Speaker 4 (25:42):
Yeah, it's a little disrespectful.

Speaker 3 (25:44):
I've been talking about one game all week and you
just go right against me, like I didn't go five
and oh last week in the contest.

Speaker 1 (25:49):
And I still cannot believe that you think the Brown
family in Cincinnati is gonna pay Burrow, Zach Taylor, Jamar
Chase T Higgins a pass rusher and Belichick.

Speaker 4 (25:59):
Have you been talking to the resident Bengals fan over
here during the Commerce beach Maybe? Yeah, I heard you
guys laughing at my take.

Speaker 3 (26:04):
All right, I'm sorry for calling the coach a chump,
but I'm moving on to Belichick if I.

Speaker 4 (26:08):
Want to win anything. Let's get started here with Matt Stafford.
Hey Man, Fifteen years ago, he was the number one
overall pick in the Midwest.

Speaker 3 (26:18):
Now, Caleb Williams is in the same position with the
Bears that Stafford was in with the Lions.

Speaker 4 (26:23):
Stafford is not worried about Kayleb's future.

Speaker 7 (26:29):
He's obviously immensely talented. He makes plays every single week
that you see on TV that blow you away. As
a quarterback. I sit there and go, man, that is
some incredible stuff. And then I'm sure there's plays he
wants back like all of us. So you know, he
seems like a sharp kid, obviously really talented. I'm sure
he'll figure it out, you know, more and more as
he continues to play. And I'm sure he's gonna have.

Speaker 3 (26:48):
A great fear.

Speaker 1 (26:50):
Yeah, you know, Stafford's great. He's Derek Jeter. He talks
a lot, doesn't say anything, never, never says anything to
get in trouble. He's a total master at this Stafford
is has he had to go, you know, all those
years in Detroit. He is arguably, next to Ma Holmes,
the best late game quarterback in the league. Never get
you in trouble, zero drama, unbelievable work ethic, total coachability.

(27:14):
I mean, he's been dealing this year with musical chairs
at wide receiver and the offensive line. Nobody looked at
that San Francisco game and thought they had a shot
that this guy is. And I keep saying this for
the Rams, there's a lot of discussion about drafting the
next quarterback. No load him up for the next two
years the Ram at LA. Nobody in LA wants to

(27:36):
watch a growing rookie quarterback go all in with Stafford
for two years and then when he retired, just redo
his contract, give him three years team auction or maybe
his auction third and then go get the next free
agent quarterback. But you're not going to get another Stafford ever.
In LA like this, You'll never get another Stafford.

Speaker 3 (27:55):
He was talking and I just couldn't get past the
facial here.

Speaker 2 (27:57):
Didn't it look cool?

Speaker 4 (27:58):
He's got like cool guy facial and I'm trying to
cultivate some stuff here for the fall. Did you not
notice it?

Speaker 1 (28:05):
He's this good looking guy. He's been a good looking
guy for a long time. I didn't care you look
at you?

Speaker 4 (28:09):
Just brushing past then.

Speaker 1 (28:11):
I mean, if Matt Stafford's a star quarterback, we're two
hundred and fifty million, good looking guy, beautiful wife. Will
you want me to say I'm not bitter or envious?

Speaker 3 (28:18):
You're so upset about that. Bengels take a ba all right,
Let's go to the Bengels. Jamar Chase, how about this one?

Speaker 4 (28:25):
How about this?

Speaker 3 (28:25):
Jamar Chase held in, not held out, held in nearly
all of training him to get the Bengels to offer
him the bag, and now Cincinnati zero and three, losing
to the lowly Patriots and rookie quarterback Jaden Daniels of Washington.
Despite the summer drama, Chase is glad to be back
in the full cong Listen to this quote.

Speaker 5 (28:46):
And all this BS that was going on this off
season and prior to the season.

Speaker 4 (28:50):
I'm just happy that as overweight in I'll finally playing
a ball and have a fun with the guys. That's
what Matt is most funny.

Speaker 1 (28:56):
Okay, he held in he did practice. He didn't do
Brandon Nayuk.

Speaker 4 (28:59):
He said, I'm glad it's over with. The drama that
he created is over.

Speaker 3 (29:02):
It's not over.

Speaker 4 (29:03):
You didn't get your contract. What is he even talking about?

Speaker 1 (29:07):
Well, my my take is they have made There's been
agreements made to sign the deal just because quarterback. Just
because stuff's not out doesn't mean it's not complete. Every
contract I've signed in my history has been done a
month and a half before. Generally speaking, you agree to terms,

(29:29):
there's lawyers in the room, and then it takes you
a while to write it up. I'm sure he's agreed.
They'll be fine, all right.

Speaker 4 (29:33):
I love the post.

Speaker 1 (29:34):
By the way, it does make it. I will say this,
they're paying the right people. They're paying an edge rusher,
a star receiver, a quarterback.

Speaker 4 (29:40):
How's that working out for Dallas?

Speaker 1 (29:42):
No, I'm gonna say this, they have burrows better than
dak Yeah, and their edge Rusher to me is more dependable,
doesn't have the big name than my co and their
receivers better than CD, although I love CD. My takeaway is,
why would you pay t Higgins.

Speaker 4 (29:55):
They're not gonna pay Tan.

Speaker 1 (29:56):
They shouldn't know.

Speaker 3 (29:58):
How many times does a you have to start oh
too or own three before this comes like a thing.
He's gonna let that happen every year. Just start in
the hole, just spotting teams points like, come.

Speaker 1 (30:07):
On, I don't like offensive coaches that get off the
slow stars. You should spend the offseason coming up with stuff.
That's what Andy Reid adve.

Speaker 3 (30:16):
He's a guy who basically had a cup of coffee
with McVeigh and then got the.

Speaker 4 (30:19):
Job of the Bengals.

Speaker 2 (30:20):
That was the big joke.

Speaker 1 (30:21):
He got Zach Taylor, he got to a super Bowl,
Joe Burrow. If you can get to a super Bowl
with a below average owner and an O line they
won't pay for because by the way, they weren't paying
Burrow yet. They could have absolutely revamped that old line
and the Brown family wouldn't.

Speaker 4 (30:39):
Well, I will give him credit drafting the kid Mims.

Speaker 3 (30:41):
He looks like he's gonna have to start now because
the other tackles out for the season are out for
a while, and we'll see what happens with Mims.

Speaker 4 (30:47):
But Colin, I just don't know what's going on with Cincinnati.

Speaker 1 (30:51):
This is like reverting to.

Speaker 4 (30:52):
The old bad Bengals. Hushman Zada can tell you the stories.
Franchise has been a joke for I.

Speaker 1 (30:57):
Think you and I are both shocked that they have
an elite quarterback. I mean, we have an elite quarterback
like Stafford. You find ways to win games. You just
in this league, like Trevor Lawrence, Like you can't lose
eight straight starts. There's got to be something culturally coaching.
It has to be something.

Speaker 3 (31:13):
I don't want to be run the coach off guy.
But Nick Sirianni and Philly went to a super Bowl
more recently and was in the playoffs last year.

Speaker 4 (31:21):
And they're trying to run him out of town.

Speaker 3 (31:22):
But yet with the Bengals coach, he hasn't a jack
squat since the Super Bowl appearance.

Speaker 4 (31:27):
And they're like, oh, well, we're cheap, We're just gonna
keep this guy.

Speaker 1 (31:30):
Well, some people are cheap. Ever gone to dinner with
somebody and they leave a measly tip.

Speaker 4 (31:34):
No, I don't go to dinner with those people.

Speaker 1 (31:36):
Well I do, then I don't go again.

Speaker 4 (31:39):
You like to give people a chance. That's so nice.
By the way, you always pay for me. That's very
kind of you.

Speaker 1 (31:43):
And that may end real soon after your Bengals take.

Speaker 3 (31:48):
The final story, is Jim Harbaugh one of your favorite
coaches in the league, Colin, listen to this. So a
gentleman by the name of Scott Matlock came into camp
playing defensive tackle for the Chargers. Now Harbaugh has him
playing full back, and Jim Harbaugh is saying he's a
three way player because Scott Mattlock is now on special teams.

(32:10):
He's got a deep guy playing defensive tackle, full back
in special teams. Jim Harbaugh, that's pretty damn cool in
the NFL.

Speaker 1 (32:17):
Well, and also, he's not like O Taani where he's
a six tool player. He's like he's a backup guy
that he's getting used out of. That's very Belicheckian by
the way.

Speaker 3 (32:25):
By the way, it's only a matter of time before
some smart coach looks on the tape and says, who's
this Mattlock guy playing everywhere?

Speaker 1 (32:31):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (32:31):
We should attack him defensively. Like I think the Chargers
are in some trouble this weekend.

Speaker 1 (32:35):
Well, we thought their first year they would change the
culture and elevate the culture. I do think it's disturbing
that Rashaan Slater, the left tackle, is hurt a lot
over the last two years. That's a thing. By the way,
that may be another reason they drafted Joe Alt. They
may move off Slater, put Alt at left tackles hurt.

Speaker 4 (32:55):
Also, Bosa's hurt.

Speaker 1 (32:57):
Against by the way, bos against hurt a lot later
gets hurt a lot. Derwin James isn't, but he gets
hurt a lot the Chargers. No, I think the Chargers
Jim Jim loved everybody when he got there. But if
Slater's banged up again this year, move all left, go
get fourth round another tackle. You got to consider this

(33:18):
stuff because they haven't paid Slater big yet. He is
hurt a lot.

Speaker 4 (33:22):
I am curious. Didn't all go before neighbors in.

Speaker 3 (33:24):
The draft room.

Speaker 1 (33:25):
Yeah, Alts, I don't you know. I'm not. Alts wasn't
hurt in college. He's been dinged up. But I mean,
like there are certain guys Joey Balsh has hurt a lot.
Slater's hurt a lot. Derwin James hurt a lot. I'll
pay money for elite players. You got to be there
on Sunday. Yeah, some of it's bad luck. You got
to be there.

Speaker 3 (33:42):
I'm just seeing what neighbors looks like with Daniel Jones
and then thinking, oh my gosh, justin Herbert sure could
use elite neighbors.

Speaker 4 (33:49):
Obviously it's not happening there.

Speaker 3 (33:51):
I don't want to call it a whiff because, like
you said, Alt's playing right tackle got dinged up near
the end of the game.

Speaker 4 (33:55):
We'll see what.

Speaker 3 (33:55):
I don't know if he's gonna play this week. They
might be down both starting tackle.

Speaker 1 (33:59):
I know the Rams. I think the Rams were against Arizona.
So was Mahomes and a Super Bowl against Arizona. What
was the final score when Mahomes had no tackles against
Bradon and Super Bowl thirty one six crushed? You can't
miss both tackles. Motonous sleep no jmckl the news.

Speaker 2 (34:19):
Well, that's the news, and thanks for stopping by The
Herd Line News. Be sure to catch live editions of
The Herd weekdays and noon eastern non am Pacific on
Fox Sports Radio FS one and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 3 (34:33):
Friday Night Football on Fox has a big ten showdown
in prime time as Washington looks to slow down Kyle
Munanguy and Rutgers. It all kicks off under the lights
at eight eastern on Fox.

Speaker 1 (34:46):
All Right, J Maxx freaking out because my wife went
to see a psyekick yesterday and J Mack wants to
know what the psychic said to my wife. So my
wife does this about once every year or two whatever.
So I'll tell you a story. I'll take two minutes.
So my wife's very good with electron She's a Detroit girl.
You could lift up the hood of the car. She
could fix the carburetor, anything with electronics. My wife is
a wizard. She's just great at it. So my wife

(35:10):
in the last week has been complaining about the electronics
at a place we have, and that she's replacing light
bulbs and yet they're still flickering and shutting off and
she can, and my wife can figure out all this stuff.
It's been a week she's complaining about it. So I said, yesterday,
how is the psidekick? It's fine, it's fine. Give me

(35:33):
a specific what do you mean well, this was fine,
give me a specific She goes. Ten minutes in. He said,
if you had some weird electronic things going on in
the last week, and she says absolutely. He said that
your father talking to you. He's passed. You have some
major drama happening in your life. Your dad is telling

(35:56):
you it's okay, not kidding. And she does have a
situation with her daughters going on a big trip. And
my wife's a lot of anxiety over the last two
weeks more, you know, like noticeable as a husband, noticeable anxiety.
She said, your dad is talking to you. You're okay.
Now come on, you're looking at me.

Speaker 4 (36:17):
Come on, I'm not doing anything.

Speaker 1 (36:19):
My wife was like, I don't want to get into
it like that is. And my wife says anything about anything.
I'm just telling you there are intuitive people on this planet.
I'm not one of them. I'm blocking and tackling. I
got no I block and tackle and I got nothing
special up here. My wife's never talked about that. My

(36:41):
wife sells every electronical thing. The guy out of the
blue says, there's something going wrong with electronics in your
life that's driving your nuts. She tells them. He goes
that's your dad. You're okay, you tell me and whatever.

Speaker 3 (36:57):
I'm not, I'll save it for next time I see
it and we'll chop it up.

Speaker 4 (37:02):
She's very friendly, you know, and I just that's a
tough that's a tough bridge for me to cross.

Speaker 1 (37:09):
Okay, I'm okay with it. Okay. By the way, so
I think if you have a star quarterback, you're always
gonna seven out of eight weeks you get the same quarterback.
If you have Dak Prescott or a Kirk Cousins, six
out of eight weeks, you know what you're getting. Maybe
not great against the good teams. If you have a
rookie quarterback, it's all situational. I think it's a terrible

(37:32):
week for bow Knicks, back to back road games, Aaron
Rodgers extra time to prep facing Sauce Gardner lockdown corner.
Bad week for bow Knicks. But Sean Payton says, I
can't wait to see Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 8 (37:46):
You feel like you're seeing you know, the quarterback we
all remember. I mean, he's quick, the balls out, he's
got great command of what they do. He's one of
the top quarterbacks we've ever seen. He does a great
job get into plays they want to get to. You know,
you see the skill set that we all saw prior

(38:09):
to the injury.

Speaker 1 (38:11):
Yeah, I don't think i'd be excited to see Aaron
Rodgers right now. He's an NFL leader in third down conversion.
I would be excited to see Will Levis Jacoby Brissett.
I think this is a really tough spot for Denver.
I think it is a great spot for the Jets.
Denver has to go back on the road again. Cross
country Sauce Gardner, Aaron Rodgers extra time, smart guy, gets

(38:37):
extra prep. I don't like this spot at all for Denver. Jmack.

Speaker 4 (38:40):
Technically, Denver did stay east. They did what the Chargers did.

Speaker 3 (38:43):
Remember the Chargers stated East for their back to back,
so Denver did the same thing.

Speaker 4 (38:48):
I'm with you, though, I kind of want to go
back to the Psychic or should we just stay on NFL.

Speaker 1 (38:52):
I don't you're good talk about the Psyekic. I wouldn't.
I wouldn't. I didn't want to talk about this. I'm
not gonna I know, I know.

Speaker 2 (38:58):
You don't.

Speaker 3 (38:59):
Technically, any of these people you go to, they could
just say you got some stress.

Speaker 4 (39:03):
I and there's some going on, like everything So.

Speaker 1 (39:06):
If the guy would have come to me and said, Colin,
has there been some weird electrical stuff in your life?
I would have been like, no, you don't know what
you're talking about. My wife is like, yeah, actually it's
been really weird the last four or five days. Something's
happening in our kitchen. I replace the bulbs and I

(39:27):
can't figure it out. And my wife is a guru
on the stuff that is.

Speaker 4 (39:31):
I mean, I will say that's it sounds cool as hell,
like the lights are flickering. Yeah, that's your dad talking.

Speaker 2 (39:36):
I told you.

Speaker 1 (39:36):
I went to a psychic a few years three years ago.
He said to me, you're going to start a company
in six months and it's going to grow very quickly.
And I said, bro, I give takes. What are you
talking about? And I started my company.

Speaker 3 (39:49):
So if you see that in a movie, it's like, oh,
that's a great twist. That's fun and made up and awesome.
But in real life, to hear it, it's like.

Speaker 1 (39:55):
Come on that no shot. I mean, they say, you
know the manifest stuff. If you believe positive, optimistic, you
can manifest stuff to happen. Mind is powerful, intuitive people
are out there. It's my take I like it. I'm
not one of them. I'm a block in an Attackling
guy
