Speaker 1 (00:26):
Here we go, hour two. It's a Friday, live in
Los Angeles. It's The Herd. Wherever you may be, however
you may be listening. Thanks for making us part of
your day. Jack Flaherty the Dodgers an hour from now,
Joel Platt five minutes from now. We've got some big
college football Bama, LSU, among other things. I'm not buying.
Ohio State kind of sold some of my stock last weekend.
(00:46):
More I see it less I like him. Oh get
Jmac rolling his eyes. Hey, the savvy better sees the
issues before they arrive.
Speaker 3 (00:56):
So they went on the road.
Speaker 4 (00:57):
Hostile Territory won the game, held Penn State without an
offensive touchdown.
Speaker 3 (01:02):
And oh, by the way, covered the spread. And you're
not impressed.
Speaker 1 (01:07):
Penn State's a little little mid.
Speaker 3 (01:10):
Little what little mid little seven and one or whatever?
Speaker 1 (01:13):
The average at quarterback, below average at wide receiver. James Franklin.
More were a recruiter than a schematic guru. They're mid.
Penn State's very mid. That's a new one. Kids are
saying that word all the time. Okay, I'm I gotta
be honest with you. I've been a little warm in
(01:33):
the last couple of weeks with my blazing five picks.
Let's turn the heat up.
Speaker 2 (01:38):
Feeling it, Let's blaze it up up. It's Collins blazing
fuck Bills. It cool.
Speaker 5 (01:45):
I like the.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
Colts plus four. Listen, Flacco is gonna be fine. It
was the first game starting. Give him some reps. He'll
be fine. Buffalo Jonathan Taylor. Buffalo didn't defend the run
particularly well. Jonathan Taylor one hundred plus scrims for the
last five games. Good offensive line, they will run the ball,
they have a chance to control the clock, and they
have tied for the most takeaways in the AFC. Here's
(02:09):
what scares me about Buffalo. They're getting more Josh Allen
Reliant twelve rush attempts, one hundred and six passes over
the last three games, back to back games with an interception.
They're getting a little Josh Allen heavy. They've got nineteen
players on the injured list. They come off a very
emotional divisional win against Miami. I think the Bills go
(02:32):
on the road, they get flat. It's a must win
game for the Colts in a feisty division. Bill's got
their division wrapped up. I'm gonna get the upset here.
Take the points. Upset Colts twenty seven, Bills twenty four.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
Vikings at Jaguars.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
Love the Vikings. Trevor Lawrence won't play. It's gonna be
Mac Jones the entire offense. Six different starters for the
Jags on offense are banged up. Vikings only losses to
the Rams when they got healthy. In the line Lions.
They're a fast starting team. So Minnesota on the road
takes the lead. They're actually the best first quarter team
in the league. They'll quiet the crowd. What there is
of one offense Number two in the NFL in Minnesota
(03:11):
in big plays and Sam Darnold's hot seven of his
eight starts one hundred plus passer rating, tied for the
best in the NFL. The Jaguars defense is aw full.
It is terrible. They're a slow starting team. The defense
is thirtieth or worse in almost every unit. Listen to this.
They allow six yards of play that is unheard of
(03:37):
a fast starting Minnesota Vikings offense, a quarterback and coaching
advantage Mac Jones against Darnold. I'm gonna lay the seven points.
Vikings win by ten thirty three to twenty three.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
Steelers and Commanders.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
I'm gonna take Mike Tomlin off of by as an underdog.
He's the best underdog coach maybe of his general Take
the Steelers plus the three points back to back games
with four hundred plus yards. Russell Wilson is really keying
in on George Pickens thriving together. Here's the thing. Their
defense is terrific number one red zone defense, So even
(04:13):
if Washington busts off some big plays, they'll settle more
often from for field goals than touchdowns. And the Commander's
defense is bad twenty eighth best red zone defense. And
I kind of like what I've seen from Pittsburgh's red
zone offense. In run game with Russell Wilson, I have
a feeling Pittsburgh's going to control the clock, pound the rock,
(04:36):
move the pocket, and when the Commanders do move the
ball against the great defense. They'll move it some, they'll
settle for field goals. I'm taking Mike Tomlin off of
by plus the points as an underdog to beat Washington
twenty seven to twenty four forty nine ers at Buccaneers. Listen,
we said yesterday this is the bet of the week.
(04:57):
I'll take forty nine ers minus six and a half.
They're getting healthy, They're coming off of bye. McCaffrey, Deebo, Samuels,
Juwan Jennings are all back. They've won four or five
games under Shanahan, the last four or five off of
by number two in total offense, and that's using number
three and number four running backs defense, multiple takeaways in
(05:19):
three games. You gotta ticked off. San Francisco team getting healthy.
They're gonna eat Tampa's on a short week off a
physical overtime game with Kansas City. Their defense allows thirty
three a game, and they are falling apart. Baker's not healthy,
couple of the backs aren't healthy, Mike Evans still out.
Vitavia isn't one hundred percent. This is a bad, bad
(05:41):
spot for Tampa. I like the Niners to win comfortably
thirty to twenty.
Speaker 2 (05:48):
Dolphins and Rams you know.
Speaker 1 (05:50):
The wise guys like Miami here, I do not. I
like the Rams three game winning streak. They're eight and
three when they're healthy with Puka, Cooper Cup Stafford, Iron Williams.
And they are healthy and Miami goes on the road again,
this time all the way cross country. The story of
the Rams is how good their defensive rookies are. They
lead the NFL and hit sacks, interceptions. This defense is
(06:14):
a bunch of rookies and second year players, and they're
getting better by the week to a better at protection
shared versus unlockable. I don't think it's Stafford as much
as it is this defense for a team that now
travels for the second straight week, and I don't like
Miami doesn't get a pass rush, so Stafford is going
to be really comfortable. They don't defend the run again.
(06:36):
I think the Rams win time of possession, control the
line of scrimmage at home, control the clock, dolphinsly cross
country after the Buffalo trip. I like the Rams to
win thirty to twenty four. Wise guys like the Fins,
I do not. J Mack read him and react.
Speaker 4 (06:57):
I don't know, buddy, one of us is going to
have a good week, that's for sure, because we are
opposite on well definitely one of the games that Colts
one is tough. They're centers now gone.
Speaker 3 (07:08):
They got some injuries.
Speaker 1 (07:10):
Buffalo isn't great at defending the run.
Speaker 3 (07:12):
They have injury Keyon Coleman just out two mines ago.
Speaker 1 (07:15):
The Buffalo Bills. Three of their best four receivers either
may not play or dinged up. So they're going and
by the way, they come off an emotional game, they're
all dinged up on offense. They do not defend the run.
And I'll tell you what the Colts do, and we
saw it with Miami. You can run on Buffalo. You
can get away with that at home. When you go
(07:35):
on the road and you and you can't stop the
run and you're sitting Josh Allen sitting watching the game.
Speaker 4 (07:41):
Maybe I'll have to tell you on that because I'm
in the the Vegas contest, a lot of money at stake.
Speaker 3 (07:45):
I'm off a four and one. We'll see, h you
could talk me into the Colts.
Speaker 1 (07:48):
I like that.
Speaker 6 (07:49):
It's bad.
Speaker 1 (07:50):
Oh is seeking value?
Speaker 3 (07:51):
Yeah, Rams Dolphins is a tough one.
Speaker 1 (07:53):
I don't you know what you know why I did
that though, because I just trust McVeigh. The story of
the Rams this year is not Stafford this last two
years with Aaron Donald leaving, they just sent all their
top picks to defense. They've hit home runs on virtually
(08:13):
every defensive pick. It feels like Dolphins emptied the tank
last week in Buffalo. That's what I feel the country
and their defense stinks.
Speaker 3 (08:21):
Miami's defenses.
Speaker 1 (08:22):
Hey, I want you to listen to this. So I
said yesterday on the show about the Dallas Cowboys. I
said it is time for organizational alignment the Dallas Cowboys.
If you go look at that schedule, they're going to
be underdogs in all but one or maybe two of
the games. Dak Prescott's out for a month, right, the
(08:42):
Cowboys quietly have to sit there. Go either way. Players,
they're going to be underdogs if they only win. They
got three wins. Now, if they beat Caroline and the
Giants lose to the rest of them five and twelve,
you start looking at those games games, start looking at
those Gays. Philadelphia loss, Houston loss, Washington Laws, Cincinnati, Tampa
(09:06):
Bay is a real team, Philadelphia, Washington, You're gonna be
a big dog in a lot of these games. With
or Without Dak, you go five and twelve. Now, last
year five and twelve, the Chargers turned it around in
one year, hitting a couple of draft picks, got the
right coach. Will the Cowboys have a come to Jesus
(09:27):
moment and acknowledge privately? Soft tank? Jerry Jones this morning
on radio in Dallas said Dak may be actually out
for the year. He doesn't want surgery. He wants to
be on the field and go for and so he's
(09:50):
weighing that.
Speaker 5 (09:51):
We're weighing that.
Speaker 1 (09:52):
And we'll just see how it go here. If it
was up to me, Micah parsons that high ankle spring
concerns me. Why don't you just keep doing the podcast? Dak? Dak,
I don't know. I saw you limp around the facility.
I think you should take eight weeks off and then
by the time you get to week seven or eight
(10:13):
with Dak not playing, you know, what's the point of
coming back. We've got four wins. I wouldn't bring Dak back.
I would rest Micah as long as I could. I
would have moved Zach Martin potentially at the trade deadline
to get like a second number two pick or something,
you know, second round, third round pick. But this is
what Dallas should be doing. Now. They may say it's
(10:35):
not intentional. This this football team. You look at the
best rosters. You watched Baltimore last night. You think Dallas
is close to that? San Francisco, Detroit, Philadelphia? You think.
I mean, I'm watching the Rams. The Rams have seven
young defensive players. I like, just defense. I mean, you're
(10:57):
not close. You gotta move piece. You need a good
draft pick. And by the way, you end up five
and twelve, fifth or sixth draft pick. All of a sudden,
somebody likes cam Ward comes up and gives you, uh
another number two other number three, boom. All it takes
a coach, a quarterback two or three hits on a picks.
(11:21):
But Dallas is not close. The Dak news is interesting.
Jerry now is saying he may not be able to
may not. You know what you do? You say, listen,
he's out for five weeks, and then in five weeks
you say we're close, and you keep him out for
two more weeks, and then you say, after that, you know,
what's the point, We're not going to risk injury. There's
a way to manage and navigate Dak not playing one
(11:43):
more Heard.
Speaker 2 (11:44):
The Herd streams twenty four hours a day, seven days
a week within the iHeartRadio app. Search Herd to listen
live or on demand whenever you like.
Speaker 1 (11:52):
Listen to this. Joe Burrow has the third highest passer
rating by any quarterback through their first ten games of
a season with a losing record all time. You know,
it's starting to feel a little bit like Mike Trout
with the Angels. I'm just it's just like we're talking
an all time guy, feeling like Lebron in Cleveland. The
(12:17):
first time Stafford in Detroit call a little about the
Super Bowl, you're a mile from it. I mean, you
don't even know if you have the right coach much.
I'm just telling you, you get into a point now
it's starting to feel like it's going in the direction
of Stafford with the Lions, Trout with the Angels, Lebron
in Cleveland the first time I never forget. Carson Palmer
(12:38):
was like, I'm done, I'm out of here. You've heard
the stories from guys that have played with the Bengals.
They just let I mean, let Joe Mixon walk. Jamar
Chase is unstoppable. They're banging on him for a contract. Really,
if you watch them in the two games against the Ravens,
the Ravens would love for you to trade him. They
would love for you to let him walk. Ravens can't
(12:59):
stop Chase Kit. There's nothing that can do. Joel Klatt
joining us Lies got todue with Ohio State this weekend.
So I'm saying this with Jay Mack. He rolled his
eyes at me. I said, you know, obviously Ohio State's good.
I'm not that bad. But there are there are teams.
The more I see of them, the more I like
(13:20):
him Oregon, and the more I see of them, the
less I like them Ohio State. So first Oregon game,
Where's where's the defense? Nebraska game, where's our run game?
This game, I came to terms with Will Howard, It's okay,
that's okay. I don't know.
Speaker 6 (13:38):
It's interesting. I took a totally different, totally different takeaway
to that game. I actually saw a team that I
like a lot more because the one specific question that
I had for them was about their offensive line. And
then they just lined up with about five minutes to
go on their own one yard line and ended the
game with the ball. You know, so to me, that
(14:00):
was what was so impressive, and I think Will Howard
probably played I mean, if I was being honest, I
think he played his worst game of the year, and
yet he was still in their swinging so his mindset,
his toughness, Ohio State's going to be tough to deal with.
Speaker 1 (14:15):
Colin.
Speaker 6 (14:15):
Let's not forget that they have Oregon dead to rights
and then offensive pass interference flag gets thrown. That's the truth. Okay.
Now you can argue about whether was it a legit
call was it not a call. That's absolutely what happened
on the road. And that's even with some of those issues.
I think their defense has been fixed largely. They've only
(14:36):
given up one touchdown since that Oregon game, and so
to me, I have a far different takeaway. I believe
that Ohio State got a little glimpse into the things
on their team that they needed to address, and now
they've been able to address them, and I think moving forward,
this team is going to be a better version of
what it was early in the season, which makes them
(14:56):
more dangerous. That's my takeaway.
Speaker 1 (14:59):
Well, look at your time ten in the ranking. You
have Oregon, Ohio State, Georgia, and this is my pushback
when I saw that also in the rankings is that
if Georgia and Ohio State play tomorrow, I'd have to
take Georgia. They've been better in big games and I
don't think Ohio State could happen. But have they well
Ohio State. Then Ohio State could not have gone to
Texas and physically humiliate Texas like that. I don't believe
(15:21):
they could have done.
Speaker 6 (15:22):
That, but they just did it. Depend State. Yeah, but
here's why I totally disagree with you. The first half
of Georgia's game against Alabama, they were terrible, terrible. You know,
Beck throws a bad interception to lose the game. And offensively,
Georgia hasn't shown the ability to own anybody. I mean
call them legitimately anybody. Beck has thrown eleven interceptions in
(15:45):
his last four or five football games. That's that's far
too many. If you go back to the Texas game,
here's what actually happened. Georgia's offense games less than three
hundred yards and their defense gave them a short field
four different times during the course of that game. They
built a twenty three to nothing lead. That's what happened
in that game. So I believe that the narrative surrounding
the way that Georgia beat Texas on the road in
(16:08):
Austin because of the score is not actually lined up
with the way that the game actually played out. I
like Georgia a lot, specifically because of the defense. They
do not have offensive weapons on the outside, and if
they see somebody that is competent offensively, then they could
be beat. Now is it gonna be this week against
ole Miss I'm not sure, But the fact of the
matter is is that their offense is not even close
(16:29):
and Beck is playing his worst football of his career.
Really right now, turn the ball over. If that gets fixed,
they'll certainly be a national championship caliber team. But as
of right now, I just don't think that there's any
way that you can put them above Ohio State after
what Ohio State has shown post Oregon game.
Speaker 1 (16:47):
So Oregon. If Oregon was called Ohio State or Alabama,
I think we would all acknowledge they were stumbling early
with some o line issues. Every time I watch them,
I'm just like fast, good quornderback playmakers pass rush can
dominate line of scrimm. Every time I watch Oregon, I
like him more. Do you feel as strongly about Oregon.
Speaker 6 (17:09):
Yes, I would totally agree with you on that point.
Every time that I see them play, I feel like
they get better and large part now let's remember now,
Dylan is in this first year in this system and
with this team, and Dan Lanning told me, you know,
I've told you this. We were playing around a golf
this summer and he told me he thought that it
was going to take at least half a year to
get Dylan really integrated into this offense so that this
(17:32):
offense was going to be at its best, and he
felt like they would play certainly their best football late
in the year. That's exactly the way that it's panned out.
You are right. They struggled early on the offensive line,
they switched some things up and move some people around,
They found the right pieces, and now they've been largely unstoppable.
Their combination of dynamic, fast, athletic defense and speed in
(17:55):
particular at the skill position spots on offense is really
tough to be in particular when you can run the
football and play well at the offensive line. I'm a
I'm and I've told you this for a long time.
Like I'm I'm a big Dan Lanning believer, And I
think this this Oregon team is quite good.
Speaker 1 (18:11):
Yeah, I and a really fun to watch. A lot
of speed everybody, a lot of California kids who can run.
It's fun, a lot of skill. So I gotta be honest.
I know everybody likes cam Ward. Cam Ward is a
little backyard football to me. But when I watch Shadeur Sanders.
Speaker 6 (18:28):
Did you wear a backwards hat? Is is this a
backwards hat? Are we about to get Uncle Colin mad
at the backwards hat?
Speaker 1 (18:35):
I'm just saying when I watch Shador Sanders defeat his accuracy,
I'm telling you right now, I think he's completing eighty
percent of his throws in the last four games. This kid,
this is there's some Jaden Daniels here. He is so
effortlessly accurate going right left. Yeah, I'm telling you, I'm
(18:55):
blown away by I I think he's getting better and
I think I think he's Jayden Daniels. I see a
lot of the same stuff.
Speaker 6 (19:02):
Well, he doesn't run like Jaden. Jayden had that incredible
ability to run the football. But you're talking about just
his release, his ability to release it quickly, be accurate
down the field. He's got a strong arm, I think
stronger than people give him credit. He's very smart. I
think cam has played great this year. I really do,
and in large part, you know, this team only wins
(19:22):
because of him. But you can say the same about Shudor.
I think Shudor Sanders is the best quarterback in college football.
I think that he's going to be the number one
taken quarterback in the draft, and rightly so. Now, part
of that completion percentage you bring up his completion percentage,
Part of that is that he'll he'll eat sacks in
order to not take in completion. Yeah, that would be
(19:43):
against him, is that he'll hold the ball a little
bit too long in order to keep that completion percentage up.
But this kid can play, man. He is absolutely the
best quarterback. Let's just put it this way. He's playing
so well right now, and people don't want to give
him credit because of the name on the back of
his jersey, and I find whatever, that's your problem, not mine.
If I were to list five players that I think
belong in New York for the Heisman Trophy, it would
(20:06):
be Travis Hunter, aashion gent the running back at Boise
cam Ward from Miami. It would be Dylan Gabriel the
quarterback we just talked about from Oregon, and it would
be shod Or Sanders. He's playing that well, and I
think people just don't want to give them credit for it.
Speaker 1 (20:19):
You know, the team that's winning in all this, because
I'm very subtle and nuanced. I don't like attention, so
I really appreciate I really I like to hide in
a group.
Speaker 6 (20:34):
Don't you don't do nothing about you said, yeah, listen,
don't show the big sign behind me. That's just my nickname.
Speaker 1 (20:43):
You know. The winner in this nobody's talking about Texas.
They got blown out. Everybody sold their stock and here's
little old Texas quietly with no pressure. They're they're overrated.
They got crushed.
Speaker 6 (20:59):
Interesting.
Speaker 1 (21:00):
I think Texas is interesting, very because, by the way,
anytime Texas is good, they get way too much attention.
Speaker 6 (21:07):
And that just that's true. And right now they're not
getting any any And.
Speaker 1 (21:10):
I think this team is the most I still think
it's the most talented team in the country. Talent Texas.
Speaker 6 (21:18):
So would it shock anybody, you know, because everyone's like, oh,
Georgia thumped them. But I already went through that with
you earlier. Part of the issue with Texas is the
way the Georgia game played out, you know, with all
those short fields for their offense, and then also the
fact that their two quote unquote marquee wins Oklahoma and Michigan.
(21:39):
Those teams have fallen off the face of the planet.
So that's what's led to no one talking about them.
And yet, calm, would it surprise you if I told
you that Texas right now probably has the best defense
in the country. Wow, And you can say that, either
statistically or on film, they have yet to give up
three hundred and more yards in a game. Did you
(22:00):
know that?
Speaker 1 (22:01):
No? I did not know that.
Speaker 6 (22:03):
See, so this is what this is the point you're
trying to make. And then I'm backing up, is that
their fundamentals on the defensive side, on the offensive skill position,
their offensive line, it's still there. They played a terrible
game at quarterback. They made a lot of mistakes at
home and gave Georgia a short field. I don't believe
(22:24):
that those mistakes will happen again. And if I had
to make kind of my my prediction, I still think
Texas makes it to the National Championship Game. I still
think they're better than Georgia. I still think that if
they got to the SEC championship game, they would beat Georgia. Now,
all the Dog fans are going to be, you know,
so mad at that, But I that's that's what I believe.
Speaker 1 (22:44):
Yeah, so do I. I think Ohio State's going to
meet Texas in the national Championship. That's what I and
I by the way, I say that right now I'm
selling Ohio State stock. I may, I may change my mind.
Speaker 6 (22:57):
Finally, I was going to say, that's a that's a
far cry from the way you started this entire interview,
because I believe the way you started this entire interview
was every time I watch Oregon, I'm more impressed, and
every time I watch Ohio State, I'm less impressed. I know,
I feel like I've got to here? Am I taking crazy? Bilser?
Was that said on this intern?
Speaker 1 (23:15):
Listen? We got a long way to go. We got
a twelve team playoff. I predicted before the season Oregon
would beat the Buckeyes the first time and lose later.
You did, I did?
Speaker 2 (23:24):
You did?
Speaker 6 (23:25):
You did? You did?
Speaker 1 (23:26):
Finally, listen, I have a certain radar. I can see
through frauds. You guys are all telling me Indiana and
I'm like, come on, it's a nice story.
Speaker 6 (23:39):
They do some man, I knew you were going to
go here. Come on, I love this.
Speaker 1 (23:43):
I mean Indiana, who are they planning this week? Panera bread?
I mean give Michigan. Oh, Michigan. They're playing Michigan, the
worst Michigan team of the decade. You buy Indiana. You
think Indiana. You're right, you think Indiana is legit.
Speaker 6 (24:00):
Let me just tell you what. When I sit here
and text coaches around the country, do you know what
all of them are texting me about Indiana? What are
they saying that they're freaking good? Man? Like, here's the
thing is, I don't know if they're going to be
good next year, you know, because they brought it in
(24:20):
so many transfers. But this team is very good, and
you have to kind of wrap your head around that. Like,
for instance, they Indiana was INBYU for this manner, but
Indiana was a victim of brand bias in the first
college football playoff rankings. Now listen, like, they'll have their
opportunity to play out. Do I think that they were
underrated in those rankings? Yes? And the evidence is is
(24:43):
that if they had a different brand on the side
of their helmet, the way that they've been playing and
what their resume actually is would brink them a lot higher.
Last year, in twenty twenty three, we saw two legitimate
top end brands in the sport that everyone thought very
highly up to begin the year, and they had exactly
the same resume as Indiana. I'm talking about Georgia and
Michigan last year, Colin. Did you know that Georgia and
(25:04):
Michigan last year, at this time after the first rankings
had a strength of schedule in the one hundreds that
they had been beating teams up to that point by
an average of, in Georgia's case, twenty five points per
game and then Michigan's case, thirty four points per game,
and their best wins were just average, no top twenty
five wins. Well, that's exactly what Indiana is doing. Their
strength of schedule is in the one hundreds, their best
(25:26):
win is I guess like Washington at this point, and
they're beating teams by an average of thirty two points
per game thirty two. They just rolled off forty seven
straight points against Michigan State. You know, so if you
actually watch this team and you watch Curtis Rourke their quarterback.
If you see some of the things that they're doing
under this Kirk Signetti offense, I'm telling you, man like
(25:48):
they can play. And that game here two weeks from
now in Columbus is going to be the biggest game
of the back half of the season in college football.
Speaker 1 (25:58):
To those coaches who text you, you ever say, you know what,
clap you should listen to Cowhard more and talk a
little less and listen to him more.
Speaker 6 (26:06):
Do they ever say, do you know what's actually funny?
Is a lot of them watch actually and they all
tell me the same thing. They're like, you ever get
tired of dealing with cowards? And I'm like, no, if
someone's gotta do it.
Speaker 1 (26:21):
All right, Purdue, you're the man at Ohio State. Good
seeing if I they had a chip Kelly for you,
doesn't had a chip for me.
Speaker 6 (26:29):
By the way, I just I just want I will
I just saw him. I just want everyone to know.
And I'm fine with it. If you're gonna get bumped
from a Wednesday at ten am, you get bumped by
Tom Brady, I get it. I get it. I'll be
back next week.
Speaker 1 (26:43):
We'll I put you in the prime window on Friday,
right after my picks Buddy Good to the window.
Speaker 6 (26:49):
This is a great window, This is a great window.
I got the call last week though, and they were like, hey,
Tom's coming on, and I was like, yeah, I get it.
Speaker 1 (26:57):
It's the only time it's happened in seven years. And
he's already mad at me, folks, he's holding the grudge.
Can hear.
Speaker 2 (27:02):
No, I'm not mad.
Speaker 6 (27:03):
I'm actually proud. I'm like, man, if you're gonna get bumped,
that's the guy to get bumped.
Speaker 1 (27:08):
For the goat the goat good. See anybody I.
Speaker 6 (27:11):
Would have done it too. I would have bumped you
if I could talk to him, So like, that's it's
the same. It's reciprocated.
Speaker 1 (27:17):
Yeah, I got bumped for Joe Brady. I get bumped
for anybody. I had been bumped. My whole my whole
life's one big bump.
Speaker 6 (27:25):
See you're doing It's great to see you.
Speaker 1 (27:28):
But it great to see h Jay. Oh do I
have Oh we already did that commercial. It's time for
j Mac, isn't it isn't?
Speaker 5 (27:34):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (27:34):
I think it is. Yeah, I mean we had this week.
You know, they're like, hey, Brady's coming on and I'm like,
all right, and I said, you know, listen, Joel gets
is very sensitive. Let's bring the news in slowly. But
we wanted him Friday. It's nothing against Ohio State. I
just right now, they're in this thing where every time
I watch him in this three and four game stretch,
(27:56):
I'm like, there's some whack a mole something I don't
like that don't like. They may be great.
Speaker 4 (28:01):
I just you really expect them to play like near perfect,
flawless games in October November. It's all about the playoff, buddy.
You're ramping up to the playoff. You want to get
everybody in the right position, get everybody healthy. You want
to give away all your best plays because you're gonna
need them.
Speaker 3 (28:17):
You gotta win. I think three playoff games to win
the Natty this year, not just.
Speaker 1 (28:20):
You know, if you're one of the lower teams like
Boise State, Boise State would open like at Tennessee and
then have to face neutral field Ohio State, Georgia, the
lower That's why Indiana it does matter where they're ranked.
So Indiana, Let's say Indiana loses to Ohio State close,
it's thirty twenty four, and everybody's like We're not moving
them down in fact, In fact, I have no problem
(28:42):
if Indiana looked great in Columbus moving them up if
they lost, I have no problem with that. It's a
beauty contest. If you look good and you lose in
a final play to one of Ohio State's first round receivers,
beat your corner. I got no problem moving Indiana up
and Ohio State actually not necessarily going down, but stay
in the same So that's the key for Indiana because
(29:03):
Indiana is a team that doesn't have as many NFL
bodies as Georgia and Texas. So that extra game, you know,
you know, the schedule in the twelve team playoff for
Indiana I think matters more than it would for Oregon, Georgia, Texas,
Ohio State.
Speaker 4 (29:17):
Well, it's interesting because if Ohio State gets the five,
which is everybody expecting them to get the five seed, right,
they will then play I guess the twelve, So they'll
win that game, and then they'll play the four seed,
which is off a bye and it's likely going to
be byu or like Iowa State.
Speaker 3 (29:31):
That's a win for the Buckeyes. Meanwhile, Oregon number one.
Speaker 4 (29:35):
Is going to have a much tougher second round game
probably against an SEC team, So Ohio State. You I
think they were in a great spot if you Yeah,
here's how the bracket shakes out, like look at the
path for Ohio State. It's much easier I think than Oregon.
Oregon's second game could be against Tennessee, which has a
great defense.
Speaker 1 (29:50):
Yeah, I think Oregon's really good. Let's take a break
come back with Herdline News. JLab has the best audio
products in the game. They take ca of me and
you this football season. They're in the blue box. Go
to an airport, go to best Buy, go somewhere Target,
best Buy, Walmart, look for the blue box. I love
their noise canceling headphones. Or just go to JLab dot com.
Speaker 2 (30:13):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays
in neonon Easter nine am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio
FS one and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 4 (30:23):
Fox NFL Sunday has a long tradition of celebrating the
brave men and women of the US military the Sunday
in honor of Veterans Day. It's a special two hour
pregame show live from naval based San Diego, a city
that over.
Speaker 3 (30:38):
Two hundred and thirty thousand veterans.
Speaker 4 (30:42):
Call home coverage begins at eleven am Eastern on Fox.
Speaker 1 (30:45):
That's the best show of the year. By the way.
The Cincinnati Bengals are such a bottom end franchise. Jamar
Chase last night had one of the great games I
can ever remember a receiver having seventeen targets, eleven catches,
three touchdowns over two hundred and fifty two hundred and
sixty yards, and this team is still screwing with him
on his contract. Go to the two games, just the
(31:06):
two games against their primary rival, the Ravens this year,
and they're still screwing with him. I mean, what does
he have to show you? More like Cincinnati's not well run.
You think any other you think the Rams, if they
had a guy this talented, would be ticking him off?
And what is the message it sends to all the
other players in Cincinnati. I mean, Jamar Chase, you can't
(31:26):
cover him. Guy isn't just an all time great plays.
I mean seriously, I mean there's like eight ten receivers
in my life. I'm like, what is his weakness? Hands, route, speed,
breaking tackles. The guy's incredible. They're sending a terrible message
in the locker room. They did this with Trey Hendrickson,
who leads the NFL in sacks this offseason. When you
(31:46):
get great players, pay him. When you get great employees,
pay them. It sends a horrible message in that locker
You wonder why Joe Burrow is in perpetually a bad mood.
You gotta pay your stars.
Speaker 6 (32:01):
A million.
Speaker 1 (32:02):
B's don't equal one. A like, go pay Jamar Chase.
If you don't want to pay t Higgins, that's different.
He's a two, and you'd have the best receiver arguably
in the game. But I mean, Jamar Chase is just
here was Joe Burrow in another tough loss.
Speaker 2 (32:20):
You look at.
Speaker 5 (32:23):
How we're playing, and then you know, you look at
Trey Hendrickson, how he's playing. Yeah, it's a tough, tough
pill to swallow. But we've we've had our opportunities, obviously.
You know, it's tough when you feel like you're you're
playing well enough to win and you're not.
Speaker 1 (32:45):
Yeah, well he's playing well enough to win. Jamar Chase
is playing well enough to win the Super Bowl. You
gotta pay him. You got to take care of him,
like everybody in the room knows you're not taking care
of your a's, then you're losing the A minus isn't
the B plus? Guys, they're like, get me out of here,
jamak with the news.
Speaker 2 (33:04):
The news. This is the herdline news.
Speaker 3 (33:08):
So we hammered the Milwaukee Bucks this week, rightfully.
Speaker 4 (33:10):
So, but they bounced back last night colleg big win
over the Utah Jazz. I should add the Jazz have
the worst record in the NBA. But hey, get excited
Bucks fans. They are now two and six. Dave Luller
went off after the game, and we needed it.
Speaker 2 (33:26):
Bad, you know, desperately.
Speaker 7 (33:29):
It was important for us to not only get off
of that that six game loser streak and you know,
feel something good and not just win the game, but
do a lot of things that we can have some
carryover with. You know, if we do it a lot
of the things that we did tonight against any team,
you know, with the pace we did then the energy
that we did it with, you know, I think we'll
(33:50):
have success.
Speaker 1 (33:52):
Yeah I don't. They're too Alden can't defend the perimeter.
Speaker 4 (33:55):
Bucks Knicks tonight back to back for Milwaukee Knicks are
huge favorites.
Speaker 1 (34:00):
Well, you know, it's there's a reason they're huge favorites.
You do not want the Bucks and a back to
back old teams playing a.
Speaker 4 (34:06):
Back to back the MSG Jannis take the over on
his points, Giannis and Dame.
Speaker 1 (34:11):
You know, everybody watch what's the spread on this game?
Speaker 3 (34:13):
I see seven and a half.
Speaker 1 (34:15):
Okay, I'll take the Knicks.
Speaker 3 (34:16):
I would take the Bucks.
Speaker 4 (34:17):
I'm not putting, no, no steak dinner. I'm not betting
NBA in November, but I would. I would take the
Bucks getting seven and a half pint.
Speaker 1 (34:25):
Old team, tired, worn down.
Speaker 4 (34:28):
Okay, all right, let's move back to the NFL colin
the Jags. It's been a brutal season and things are
getting uglier. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence suffered a shoulder injury against
the Eagles, and even though he finished the game, head
coach Doug Peterson is not optimistic Lawrence will play Sunday,
saying he's been very limited all week.
Speaker 3 (34:48):
It is trending in a way that's not leaning toward playing.
Speaker 4 (34:52):
They elevated a quarterback from the practice squad, and you
saw a couple.
Speaker 3 (34:56):
Of reports that surgery could be required.
Speaker 4 (35:00):
Vikings have been bumped up to seven point favorites on
the road.
Speaker 3 (35:04):
It's just all good.
Speaker 6 (35:05):
Trevor Lawrence.
Speaker 4 (35:06):
We could have a discussion in the offseason about him,
but man, this is just you.
Speaker 1 (35:11):
Can't get it right. Well, Burrow and Trevor Lawrence getting
a little banged up. Not sure if they ever have
the right coach, don't necessarily trust the organization. There's another
team in the division that is just we think is
better run. I mean, it's it's there's a lot of listen,
not all these quarterbacks. I mean, now, Burrow got to
(35:31):
a super Bowl, but I think and I think Burrow's
better than Trevor Lawrence. But it just goes to show
you can get the quarterback right. Trevor Lawrence is above
average talent. You can get the quarterback right if you
don't have the coach, the culture, the system they got.
Speaker 3 (35:44):
I know that's a big number of but they got
some injuries in Jacksonville.
Speaker 1 (35:48):
Both there, both their tackles are hurt, so their their
defense is atrocious. Now you don't have Mac Jones wide
receiver's not mobile, and now your tackles are banged up.
Like I think, it's a bad And Minnesota is the
fastest starting team in the league. They're really good on script,
so you're gonna go on the road. What you want
to do on the road is not get buried. You
(36:09):
want to take a lead. Jacksonville's one of the worst
first quarter teams, So Minnesota takes the crowd what there
is of one, They'll take the crowd totally out of it.
Minnesota's playing with a lead Mac Jones, with Minnesota's pass
rush playing from behind, I think you could have an
ugly game on your hand.
Speaker 3 (36:27):
Yeah, this could could get sideways quickly.
Speaker 4 (36:29):
I just wonder if next week, where you know, Monday,
we're opening with Doug Peterson's gone.
Speaker 3 (36:34):
I mean, can you kick get rid of them?
Speaker 4 (36:36):
After Mac Jones has to start for Lawrence, there's no
world where.
Speaker 3 (36:39):
Peterson survives this. Then it becomes is this an attractive job?
Speaker 4 (36:42):
I mean you have Lawrence, but literally nothing else lines up.
I don't know about ownership, I don't.
Speaker 3 (36:48):
Know about the GM.
Speaker 4 (36:49):
I mean, the young kid, Brian Thomas at receiver's good,
but he will see defense stinks like Belichicket.
Speaker 3 (36:55):
He's not going to Jags, is he?
Speaker 1 (36:58):
It wouldn't be my first n Johnson.
Speaker 4 (37:00):
Why is he going to Jacksonville? Might as well just
stay OC in Detroit. I don't know how there's an
attractive job. It's all bad, bad, bad to Jacksonville.
Speaker 1 (37:08):
Final story.
Speaker 4 (37:08):
Colin is speaking of teams that could pack it up.
The Dallas Cowboys. Dak Prescott will not play Sunday, and
we will see about Ceedee Lamb. He's working through two things,
a shoulder injury and oh, by the way, a new quarterback.
Ceed talked about both of them.
Speaker 1 (37:24):
I feel like I've taken him a big step throughout
the weekend, the last two or three days, if you will, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (37:31):
I'm good.
Speaker 1 (37:31):
I was out there running, I was getting right. We
know what Coo can do and the confidence is still
there obviously standing there and to live.
Speaker 3 (37:41):
This didn't make your blaze.
Speaker 2 (37:42):
In five huh.
Speaker 1 (37:44):
I think Philadelphia is gonna win comfortably. I do not
love the hook in these division games. If it was seven,
I take Philadelphia. May I may change my mind on this.
Philadelphia is gonna win and I do think. I do
think Jerry Jones, this is a thing saying, you know,
Dak may not play this season. It has been of
a message they may be packing it in and everybody
(38:08):
if Dak's not playing for the rest of the season,
and you hear Jerry say that, what is your reaction?
Season's over. You may get a low energy cowboy team
and a revved up, on fire Philadelphia team. This is
our game that could get really ugly fast.
Speaker 3 (38:23):
We still don't know about Micah Parsons.
Speaker 2 (38:25):
He is.
Speaker 4 (38:25):
I'm trying to see if he's practicing today. He's back,
he practiced light yesterday, but he's been out for a while.
Is he the leader of that team at this point?
Like energy wise vocal? Like, I don't know who the
leader is. Dak's out, Emma Smith not Emmis Smith, isekil.
Speaker 1 (38:41):
Elliott's I'd say, I'd say Mike is the leader. I
sound good if I said if I said to you
this game into Philadelphia thirty four Dallas thirteen, would you
be shocked?
Speaker 2 (38:53):
Not totally.
Speaker 4 (38:55):
But Philadelphia has had some problems covering big spreads, the
Browns the Jags, But this, like you said, a divisional matchup,
they should show up here. Aj Brown back at practice,
which is nice, DeVonta Smith back of practice.
Speaker 1 (39:07):
Yeah, one team's beat up, one team's healthy. One team's
playing for the number one seed, one team's playing for
the summer.
Speaker 3 (39:14):
Hold on healthy.
Speaker 7 (39:15):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (39:16):
We might do a final Hour.
Speaker 4 (39:17):
But something happened at a press conference today with Sirianni
about Jalen Hurts, Like, so, Jalen Hurts missed the day
of practice, and essentially Sirianni was like, oh, it was
at ankle injuries. And then he looked to his media
person and was like, wait, what was it and they
were like rest and he was like, no, not an ankle,
it's rest. And so the media right now is piling
on Nick Sirianni. This guy's a liar, blah blah blah.
He just can't get out of his own way. It's
(39:39):
always something with that guy going sideline action.
Speaker 1 (39:42):
Yeah, he's I've seen better. I have seen better, Belichech
licking his chops for that job. And well that that
roster is sassy, that roster's got, that roster's got everything.
Speaker 4 (39:54):
There's zesty, zesty, that roster's got everything. My daughter hit
me with zesty. Yes, I don't know what that means
in terms of I just hit.
Speaker 1 (40:01):
The audience with mid an hour ago, and the Internet
is buzzing on that I threw a mid out and
people are like, whoa dude? His hip and brilliant the
audience doesn't know.
Speaker 2 (40:12):
What to do right now.
Speaker 1 (40:13):
They're shown. Hey, also never forget three words stand on
business there it is. Something's happening to the show right now. Culturally,
I think everybody can feel it. New level. Also on TikTok,
J Mack with a news.
Speaker 2 (40:27):
Well that's the news, and thanks for stopping by the Dodgers.
Speaker 1 (40:31):
Jack Flaherty in studio. How great is that Dodger pitcher?
There's a buzz all over LA. You got the Rams winning,
you got Harbaugh and the Chargers winning, the Dodgers won
the World Series. Brownie James gonna win the Rookie of
the Year. A lot of things going on. I don't
know what. I don't know what to make. I don't
dislike Brownie, I don't I don't even know how to
(40:52):
feel about that story. I'm happy for the family in
Savannah and Lebron. I don't know how's supposed to feel.
Am I rooting for him? I'm not rooting against him.
I hope the kid hit some buckets, you know. Hour
three coming up,
