Speaker 2 (00:21):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
The reverb post Super Bowls is always interesting to watch. Uh.
Dak Prescott kind of doubled down on Stephen Jones and
Jerry Jones saying this, Brian Schottenheimer, higher, I know it
was a Friday PM news dump. I like what I
see from Dallas.

Speaker 3 (00:44):
I feel like we compete with Eagles and beat him
for the most part, we've played them. I don't want
to say check the record when that the guy's holding
the trophy right now. So credit to them. They've heard
and they deserved it by all means. But yeah, very close.

Speaker 1 (00:59):
So I I'm trying to be reasonable. I think the
NFL is getting a little easier to predict, not the games,
but the standings over the course of time because you
just go to the best quarterbacks, and if a quarterback
has a capable coach. I think just just in the NFC.
No Chiefs, no Ravens, no Bills, no Joe Burrow, no Harborught,

(01:21):
none of that stuff. Take the heartballs, Uh, just go
to the NFC. I think if you're looking at quarterback
roster coach Eagles, let's give him a number one. I
think the Lions get Aiden Hutchison back. The Rams have
hit on several draft picks. If Matt Stafford returns, they
need a left tackle in a corner, they're going to
be good. Jordan Love little hot and cold, but Green

(01:45):
Bay's well run. I wish they'd go in on Miles
Garrett Washington, Jayden Daniels. Maybe I have them low that again,
they have a ton of money to spend. Washington's no
worse than fifth. They may be better. I think San
Francisco again the coach. They're gonna sign brock Perty. They're old.
They need to hit on some draft picks. They need

(02:06):
to shore up the old line. But Christian McCaffrey comes back,
they'll probably move Debo. They'll be fine. Minnesota and Seattle
may not be Super Bowl worthy, but they have good
rosters with good players. They have dynamic players on both sides.
They go playmakers on both sides of the ball, and
I think Baker Mayfield, Caleb Williams nine and ten good

(02:27):
enough coaches. Maybe I'm wrong and I should have Dallas
nine or ten. I have Dallas kind of in that
Atlanta space, kind of eleven ish twelve ish. You're kind
of rolling your eyes, But I don't think that's unrealistic.
I really don't. I'm trying to be I may have
Washington low. Now Rams decide. I think what you said

(02:47):
earlier makes sense. The Stafford wants more money, he's not
paid enough and his buddy Cooper Cup so the Rams
are like, okay, we can't pay all you guys. I
do think your suggestion earlier is an interesting one. The
culture is great with the Rams. They if they and
again they're going left tackle, they're going wide receiver in corner.

(03:08):
If the Rams, and they've drafted very well recently, hit
on a couple of draft picks. I think Aaron Rodgers
to the Rams is not crazy. If they can't come
to terms with Stafford keeps them upright in that division
with Kyler, Murray, Gino Smith, Brock perty McVeigh and that roster.
That is interesting. Outside of that, I don't. I mean,

(03:28):
there's no way I can put him higher than like eight.
I contend, if Seattle didn't have cat problems, they should
have drafted a quarterback. I like Seattle's roster a lot.

Speaker 4 (03:38):
Only team you feel a little low on here besides
the Niners is maybe the Vikings didn't they win like
fourteen games this year. And if McCarthy can give you
eighty five percent of what Donald did and they reallocate
the Darnald money into like an edge rusher Miles Garrett,
I don't see why Minnesota can't go back into the
top three or four in the end.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
Remember, dak as of today, is the highest cap hit
in league history. Next year not great. You can fool
around with the numbers, but you know when Jerry Jones
could not spend eight million dollars on Derrick Henry, you
know a year ago in the trade deadline, like they

(04:17):
they tip their hand. Now for the record, Philadelphia is
gonna have to massage the cap too, because that you know,
Philadelphia went all in on stuff. And you know, I
was reading the story yesterday last night, sitting around, and
you know, eventually you got to pay the pipers. So
they got so many great players. Thank God, they've been
so good drafting. They're safe for now. But I mean

(04:37):
just they're paying two receivers, a tight end to quarterbacks
and offensive linemen and Jalen Hurts, so they'll have some stuff.
They're gonna have to it on more draft picks. But
I I don't get it like I I mean, I
guess Stephen, Jerry and Dak it's the company line, but
I don't get it.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays
and noon Easter not a em Pacific on Fox Sports
rate FS one and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
J Mack with the news.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
This is the Herdline News.

Speaker 4 (05:09):
I love all this NFL offseason trade talk. Let's start
with Deebo Samuel. Yesterday he made his second trade request
in the last three years. The Niners have given him
permission to find a new dance partner, and the odds
are coming in on debo plus two fifty that he
stays with the Niners, which I don't think is gonna happen.

(05:30):
What's interesting is sitting at number three is the Denver
Broncos plus six.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
They're very Courtland Sutton dependent. Why isn't Washington on this
list a very fair question.

Speaker 4 (05:41):
But regarding the Broncos, Debo spoke out about how good
the Broncos can be next year. Maybe he sees himself, Hey,
Sean Payton, smart guy.

Speaker 1 (05:49):
Yeah, I like what I see from bo Nix. He's
a bit of a checkdown artist. He's not throwing the
ball deep that fart and the real smart offensive coaches
like chess pieces, and I do think I like Debo.
I don't think he's a great receiver. I think he's
a good receiver. I think he's an amazing chess piece.
So again, he would work with Andy Reid, he would
work with Sean Payton, he works with the right coach.

(06:11):
Deevo doesn't work for everybody. If you just put him
out wide, he's not gonna separate. I think Devo to
Denver or with Cliff Kingsbury is a really really interesting fit.

Speaker 2 (06:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (06:22):
I don't understand how Carolina made this list. The Panthers like, well,
they have an offensive coach Canalis Bryce. That's a You're
going from the penthouse Niners every year in the mix
to you know, kind of the doghouse. Next up Colin.
With the NFL season officially wrapped up, the Combine and
pro Daser on the horizon. Schnur Sanders is gonna meet

(06:43):
with plenty of teams, but he has revealed he's already
met with the Browns we're picking second and the New
York Giants.

Speaker 1 (06:51):
Nothing yet on the Titans.

Speaker 4 (06:53):
Dion has said there would be certain teams he would
not allow Shador to play for. I guess that means
the Bronco that the Browns and Giants are not one
of them.

Speaker 2 (07:03):
Do you think Shador goes top six?

Speaker 1 (07:05):
Yes, he'll do very well in the interviews. Shadure will
do exceedingly well when you get him in the room.
He has been smartly parented and he will be great interviewing.

Speaker 4 (07:18):
Do you think just can concern like, let's say the
Browns take him Stefanski coming off a pretty ugly season,
and let's say the Browns wins six games next year.

Speaker 1 (07:25):
Is Stefanski in trouble? In dian Gun, Shaduur and Stefanski
are a great fit because Shaduur's a pocket guy. In
Stefanski's history's very good with the guys that sit in
the pocket. I think that's one of the better fits.

Speaker 4 (07:35):
And then you quickly move on from Deshaun Watson. You
just you don't want to bring him back in.

Speaker 5 (07:40):
The locker room.

Speaker 1 (07:41):
I don't Care's what's great about the NFL If you
hit on four or five draft picks, which Andrew Berry
is a good gm to maze. Think about how much
trouble Jmack Denver was in a year ago. They were
a mess. Oh they land bow knicks and they make
the playoffs in a division with Jim harry Ball and
Andy Reid. If you that's what's great about this league.

(08:03):
If you nail your draft picks, you can get out
of cap trouble. Because Cleveland's roster it's not terrible, it's okay,
they've got pieces, it's a it's a middle of the
pack roster with some high end players.

Speaker 4 (08:16):
The problem is the Watson situation. I think you're right,
like you got an opportunity drafting second. Why would you
pass up on a quarterback? You get out of the
Watson era. This makes total sense to get Shador too.
I don't see him falling past it. Final story, Colin
is the Golden State Warriors.

Speaker 1 (08:32):
They're two and ohos.

Speaker 4 (08:33):
That's adding Jimmy Butler aka Jimmy Buckets at the trade deadline.
We've talked about how this could be STEP's last ride.
It sounds like Curry echoed that sentiment to Draymond Green.

Speaker 3 (08:43):
We got Jimmy Butler like, this is no small dude,
It's Jimmy Butler.

Speaker 5 (08:48):
Steph. He looked like he got believed. After the trade.
He looked at me and he said, Man, it's crazy because.

Speaker 2 (08:53):
It just dawned on me.

Speaker 5 (08:54):
They're like, this is it? Yeah, like this is this
is the last run. That's ron like, let's do it.
Let's right to the fall off, let's go home.

Speaker 1 (09:07):
Yeah. I think they play the MAVs tonight six and
a half points. I've got the Warriors to come.

Speaker 4 (09:13):
I'll piggyback you on that one. I don't know what
this is.

Speaker 1 (09:16):
What's the ceiling for? Can they make the conference finals?
In the one? No? No, no, no? Can they get
out of the plane. I think they can battle for
one series win. They can battle. Steph gets hot, Steph
is healthy. What if you meet the Houston Rockets kaminga pods,
Steph Butler, Draymond they can win a series. Like, let's
a prime example. Let's say they match Houston. So Houston's young,

(09:37):
but can't shoot. Like, if I'm Houston, I don't want
to face the war here. I got Steph Draymond Butler.
It's like veteran guys, Houston super young. I'd have no interest.

Speaker 4 (09:49):
I think they was I think they would take care
of Memphis.

Speaker 1 (09:51):
Pretty hid well. Memphis is a mix of young and old.
I would say this Butler's a dog, Draymond's a dog. Steph.
It's not a bad roster. I'm like, I want to
watch them play Dallas tonight. I like what the Warriors are.
I think a lot of the teams we like in
the West are really young, and this team's got a

(10:13):
lot of guys that have been in a lot of
big games. So I think the Warriors are. I said
before they got Butler, I said, go get Butler. He
makes you really interesting because when Steph's off the floor,
pre Jimmy Butler, they're unwatchable. Now you've got a guy
that can give you twenty seven depending on the night.
Jmckle the news, Well.

Speaker 2 (10:33):
That's the news, and thanks for stopping by. It's the
Herd Line News.

Speaker 1 (10:38):
Mark Sanchez, Fox Sports, what a gift for us all
year calling NFL games all year on Fox Now. But well,
we're gonna go to a break eventually and get to
the Jalen Hurt stuff. But here I'm thinking about this
because I know you're gonna be on today. So listen.
This happens all the time. You go to a game
as a quarterback and you're like, well, protection not ideal, Okay,

(11:02):
you're bringing a second tight end, get roll stuff out.
And it was very obvious by the second series. Wow,
we're getting beat on the O line man, the man
in the in the games in your life where you
felt your on line was outclassed. Do you have a
lot of options or do you just come to terms

(11:22):
very early I'm gonna get hit today. Yeah, I mean
is what are you thinking emotionally as a quarterback? Because
Patrick pretty early realized this is gonna be one two.

Speaker 5 (11:32):
Trouble and he had to move quite a bit even
when he hit his back foot on number one. There's
guys in his lap, there's guys affecting his vision, his
stance in the pocket. He's getting hit all the time.
You see the pick right here to Bond, People like, wow,
what a bad throat. Well, he gets hit literally when
he gets rid of the ball and as soon as

(11:52):
he hit his back foot. He was under duress, and
you got a credit. Clint Hurt and this defensive line,
their defensive line coach, and those players up front, they
pushed the interior of the pocket. The ends just went off,
I mean sweat those guys rushing off the edg. It
was incredible. And when we talk about guys rushing rush

(12:14):
lane integrity, not chasing the cheese and going for the sack,
the sacks happen when you rush together, when you keep
your rush lanes, you know, true, And they were in
lockstep together upfront and you could say that about them
this last really half of the season. And you know

(12:35):
when you have Tony's an all pro left guard, he's
not a tackle. That's you know, he won two championships
with the Patriots, he's won two Super Bowls with the
chief Like, he's an excellent player, but he's out of position.
That's a really tough job, especially when those two big
guys Davis and Carter are getting pressure on the interior
where they're normally solid, so he doesn't have anywhere to

(12:56):
step up to. They're coming over the walls on the edge.
I mean, it's it's a lose lose and very uncharacteristic
of the Chiefs. They you know, their first three third
downs before it got to third and nine, plus for
the rest of the game, their first three third downs
were third and three. I believe incomplete, incomplete interception. WHOA

(13:17):
what sequence is that? That doesn't that doesn't equate to
the Chiefs. So, yeah, they had a rough night. It
was a really rough night for him. But credit to
the Eagles because they exploited him.

Speaker 1 (13:27):
Yeah, the when you watch the game, I said this.

Speaker 3 (13:34):
Is that.

Speaker 1 (13:36):
Philadelphia is a very aggressive franchise. And I said, I
think I'd said this with you. They do things that
often bad franchises do. They replace winning coaches, they move
off good quarterbacks. But it works for them and Siriani
his methodologies. For a lot of towns, you'd be like, dude,
you're yelling with the fans. Philadelphia is a very unique

(13:58):
the really important players like say Kwon and Jalen Hurts.
They're mature, they're understated. It's a fact we talked about
this last time. It's a fascinating organization that you have
unique insight to. It is a combustible, intense, loud and
as I watch them, I wonder if teams around the

(14:21):
league watch them and think we're not aggressive enough.

Speaker 5 (14:24):
Sure, well, you got to credit Howie Roseman and some
of these draft picks, the guys that have fallen in
the draft and landed in their lap, whether it's Nikobe,
Dean or Carter or whatever, for whatever reasons, they end
up on this team. And Howie Roseman isn't afraid to
go sign aj Brown, He wasn't afraid to go sign
al Shon Jeffries. Sometimes I'm like, how does he even

(14:45):
get the how do they come available? Like who's taking
that phone call? But Howie Roseman, I mean, that guy's
working his tailoff and it's you know, every other year
they have one of the best rosters in the league
and it's been impressive. But you look at the coordinators
he's hired.

Speaker 1 (15:02):
You know they've hit, they've missed, but they go right back, They.

Speaker 5 (15:05):
Get right back at it, and they keep the same
core nucleus of guys with a couple of veterans, whether
it's a Brandon Graham Darius Slay on defense, that kind
of keep the the emotions in check. They're they're your
locker room leaders. Yes, And when you talked about this
being like a combustible kind of uh environment, Like it

(15:27):
matches the identity of the city. It completely matches where
they play their fan base. It's very filly and it's, uh,
it's exciting to watch. Just think about the two coordinators
who got this team going right. They're two and two
to start the year right, and you know, you see
the videos after the game of Philadelphia just like exploding,
there's fires everywhere and people going nuts. Well, it was

(15:50):
ready to be like that during their bye week the
week five, people were ready to fire. Everybody sucks, you
know how he can't put a team together. It's like, dude,
you guys had just been in the super Bowl, Like, relax, Okay,
we're gonna be fine.

Speaker 1 (16:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (16:03):
Well, they change up some stuff on defense, they played
a lot more single high. They entert Cooper dejen. They
have two rookies playing in the secondary. Quinna Mitchell is
not supposed to start the year, starts the year because
Bradbury gets hurt and they get incredible production from two
rookies in the secondary. So that in itself tells me

(16:23):
Vic Fanjo's got these guys dialed and he coached them hard.
But look at their last two games. The most important
games of their season, the championship game and the Super Bowl.
The defense generated seven turnovers. The offense scored ninety five points.
You can't beat that. You cannot beat that. You talk

(16:44):
about running into a buzzsaw, and you talk about everybody's saying, oh,
complimentary football, complimentary foot That is complimentary football. Jalen hurts
through a really bad interception in the game. Mahomes did
it last year against San Francisco. The defense got his back.
The defense just erased it. And that is complementary football.
Give the ball back to the offense, and god forbid,
the offense gives it away. We got your back. Let's

(17:05):
not make a habit of it, but we got your back.
And it was impressive.

Speaker 1 (17:09):
Yeah, I want let me ask you the Travis Kelcey.
He had a bite earlier we played on the show
on his podcast where he's like, listen, man, I've been
playing three extra games for several years, and like Lebron,
that's Lebron's played three years in the playoffs. His playoff
games equal a season of playing That's right, It's insane.
Those are intense. And so I look at Travis Kelcey

(17:32):
and you play a position where you're blocking often the
best athlete and the other team, and all these three games,
three games, three games? When could and forget the production part,
when did you know physically and emotionally for you, man,
I don't want to go to camp. And I asked
that respectfully because first of all, season ends, give yourself

(17:53):
three weeks off to be with whoever. But was there
an epiphany for you driving around with something and thinking,
I don't want to do this.

Speaker 5 (18:01):
Well, the last couple of years, you know, you have
this epiphany when you realize the warm up and cool
down for practice almost takes longer than practice. You know,
the warm up takes longer than the workout. You're like, dang, okay,
well let's see how many more we can squeeze out
of this thing. And and you know, like Draymond Greens, hey,
you got to ride it till the wheels fall off
because at some point you're gonna be older and wishing

(18:22):
you could still play. So I think you still got
another year in him. I think they'll take a little
bit off of his plate, especially when it comes to blocking.
I think they need a true blocking tight end because
him and Noah Gray are similar skill set. Yeah, so
I think that would help him, But I mean, Kansas
City's not going anywhere. You got fifteen at quarterback. He
laid an egg and one super Okay, fine, Like I'm

(18:43):
fine with that. Like whatever, you know, Lebron's lost six
champions or something like, we're okay, they're gonna be just fine.
They'll retool. I think Kelsey's got got one more season
in him.

Speaker 1 (18:54):
The the NFL. Now we have another game, they're probably
at an game. There's much more international travel. Off seasons
for US, it's free agency, it's the draft. You start
looking at Philadelphia's roster, Kansas City, there's some great older players.
What does an off season look like? Win or lose

(19:15):
this game? Is it? Is it different when you I mean,
you tell me, what does an off season for Patrick
Mahomes look like? How long do you shut it down?

Speaker 2 (19:23):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (19:23):
I think, uh, you're never like completely shut down, but
like you're going for a bike ride, you're swimming, you're
doing some other stuff just to stay active. But I
don't think he's just gonna take like two months off.
He can't totally do that. He's probably not gonna start
throwing right away, but you know he's he's gonna take

(19:44):
a little time, let the emotions settle down, get to
the truth of the game. Where was I good? Where
was I bad?

Speaker 1 (19:51):
What?

Speaker 5 (19:51):
What reads did I miss about? How is my footwork?
You know? Grade yourself, tell the truth and then move
on and go play again. And he's gonna be once again.
He's gonna be just fine. These Chiefs are gonna be
just fine. It's they ran into an incredible team that
was playing really well as superstars all over the place.
And the guys that needed to fill in some holes

(20:13):
for him. I mean, you loseing to Kobe Dean and
Orn Burk's comes in, yeah, and generates turnovers for your offense,
like for your defense, gives the ball back to the offense.
I mean, the two rookies who had to step in
and play. Avonte Maddox doesn't play as much. Then when
he does get in later in the year in the
Super Bowl, he bats away a crucial third down. I mean,
that's a guy who could have easily tanked right. Cooper

(20:34):
dejen took his spot after the bye week early in
the year and doesn't play as much. I mean, he
could have packed it in. But that's a testament to
their locker room, to Howie Roseman, to the head coach,
to all the guys, getting these guys ready to play,
keeping them a part of it. And you know that's
how you build a championship roster. You could tell they
were together and once again, Chief lay an egg. They'll

(20:55):
be back.

Speaker 1 (20:56):
All right, We're gonna come back. You have some film,
some tape on your Jalen he's an eraser.

Speaker 5 (21:01):
He's an eraser. He just does stuff different than other quarterbacks.
He can get away with the live it's pretty fun
to watch.

Speaker 1 (21:07):
We'll show that and talk about that next in The Herd.

Speaker 2 (21:09):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays
and noon eastern nine am Pacific.

Speaker 6 (21:14):
Hey, Steve Covino and I'm Rich David and together we're
Covino and Rich on Fox Sports Radio. You could catch
us weekdays from five to seven pm Eastern two to
four Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and of course the
iHeartRadio app. Why should you listen to Covino and Rich.
We talk about everything life, sports, relationships, what's going on
in the world. We have a lot of fun talking
about the stories behind the stories in the world of

(21:36):
sports and pop culture. Stories that well other shows don't
seem to have the time to discuss. And the fact
that we've been friends for the last twenty years and
still work together, I mean that says something, right, So
check us out. We like to get you involved too,
take your phone calls, chop it up. As they say,
I'd say, the most interactive show on Fox Sports Radio,
maybe the most interactive show on planetar. Be sure to

(21:57):
check out Cavino and Rich live on Fox Sports Radio
and the Iheartradiot from five to seven pm Eastern two
to four Pacific, and if you miss any of the
live show, just search Kobe non Rich wherever you get
your podcast, and of course on social media that's Cavino
and Rich.

Speaker 1 (22:11):
So many of the things Mark Sanchez talks about we
can't talk about yet on the air. That's a bummer,
but you know what it it fortifies us to pursue
what he's talking about and make calls. You're like the
whisper You're up a little nugget, You're the personnel whisperer
and we just have to do it from there. Okay,
So Jalen hurts. You know, Greg Cosel came on earlier

(22:33):
and he said, you know, one of the things they
asked him to do and he does really well. Is
that sideline route, Like, not all quarterbacks can make all throws,
but some quarterbacks have throws. They're brilliant at.

Speaker 5 (22:42):
The go ball. Yeah yeah, I mean beautiful goball.

Speaker 1 (22:45):
Beautiful at it. So let's give it. Let's go to
the film room.

Speaker 6 (22:47):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (22:47):
I thought he did such an excellent job. And really
this is credit to Kellen Moore. I mean, the Saints fans,
that fan base should be excited about what they're getting
in him as a head coach. But he cut the
field in half for Jalen Hurts and let him just
kind of pick a side. Why to make it easier
on the quarterback and to eliminate a lot of the
trash from that defense. You get a ton of exotic

(23:10):
looks when you play Steve Spagnola. So he wants him
to just be dialed in on a two or three
man concept and keep his eyes there. And when it
wasn't that, when it was essentially a full field read,
we talked about a sprinkler going across the grass, right,
he just could start on one side and let everything
else come to his vision. So there's like a two
man combination and everything else is chasing that two man combination.

(23:33):
And it's a pure progression type idea. When you play
exotic defenses, you're not going to know exactly where they're
at till the ball snapped, and you don't want to
be racing looking, Oh do I pick this side or
that side? No, we're going to start on this side.
Everything else is going to come into your vision. And
then oh, by the way, this guy can make up
for a lot with his legs. Remember, his best throw
is the go ball. The other best thing he does

(23:55):
is you run with the football. He's their leading rusher
for a reason. So when you watch this third down,
it makes a ton of sense. But he's gonna recognize
it's man to man. McDuffie's gonna travel with Devonte Smith.
And when McDuffie was playing either AJ Brown one on one,
they took some shots up the field and they took
their chances and AJ Brown won. Well, when they didn't

(24:15):
have him on AJ Brown, they would bracket him and
make sure he's not gonna beat him. We got to
take away Saquon and we got to find a way
to double or you know, get enough pressure so he
can't throw it. To aj Brown, So this time they
double him and then they're gonna go one on one
with the back. Bolton a lot of times would cover
the back and keep him in the protection so he
doesn't leak out and give Hurts easy completions. So these

(24:36):
two man combos I was talking about. You cut the
field in half, start on the right side, high angle corner,
and the out route to god Her it's gonna be
man to man. He saw the motion, so he knows
is gonna take a little longer. He gets to the
top of his drop and you're gonna see there goes
the shallow chasing the two man combination. So that's gonna
come right into his vision. He can keep his eyes

(24:56):
to the right, but he has such good feel in
the pocket knowing when it's man to man that if
he sees a rush lane, this dude is gone and
he gets to top speed fast. He's already looking away
from Goddard before this ball, before he breaks on his route, Manning, Brady, Breeze, Goff, Stafford,

(25:17):
all these guys. That ball goes to Goddard. It's a
tight window throw. The ball goes to Goddard. Jalen Hurts.
He kills you on a third and five and scrambles
for nineteen. I mean, those were some of his biggest
plays in the game, as he just erased those third
downs with his legs. Yeah, and the defense is like,
we're in position, we're forcing him to make tight window throws,

(25:38):
and this guy just tucks the ball and takes off
for nineteen on a third and five. I mean, get
out of here. Like, I wish I could do that, right,
I wish I could do. The quarterbacks pray for that ability,
and this guy has it in spades. And so I
think that's where he really elevated his game all year long.
And I think Killen Moore had him in such a
good headspace. Nus Meyer had him in such a good

(26:00):
good frame of mind to get through those progressions and
whenever you want, if you feel that crease, you feel
that lane, dude, do what you do, go take off.
And I mean he really mastered it in that game.
It was it was pretty fun to watch.

Speaker 1 (26:14):
It's interesting. So when he had Shane Steike and he
was an MVP, then they went to a coordinator not
as good. He goes back to Kellen Moore. I feel
like Kellen's really cleaned him up. Now that's not a
knock on Stikeen, but all young quarterbacks, you know, this
is a fast game. What's great to me about Jalen
is you get almost no mistakes anymore.

Speaker 5 (26:35):
You're right the one key interception and the defense erase
and it was kind of a well they got pressure
on they had a couple free runners on him early
and he got rid of the ball. That one he
got fooled a little bit on the look at least
it was a home run and just launched it, but
the defense got on the ball right back. It almost
worked out like a punt. They should have got three
points out of it, right. But you know, once again

(26:56):
the complimentary football stuff, letting him just his guy across
the field throw the one on one go balls up
the field like that's what he does. Well, let's let's
get him to do that. We know they're gonna try
and take away our fastball in Saquon Barkley, and they did.
They They're like one of the only teams to slow
them down. So he was really essentially a non factor
in the run game. But then you gotta count count

(27:19):
for the quarterback run, and that's where you know they
went to the change up the curveball. They have some
other pitches there and credit to the Eagles attack man.
That was that was That was an incredible.

Speaker 1 (27:30):
When you go back to your playoff runs, you're in
New York, even though you may not win a Super Bowl,
you're beating Manning, you're beating Brady. You're a young quarterback.
It could be very distracting. Like Jalen Hurts is gonna
get commercials. He's a good looking guy. Like go back
to your early career. You're in New York. You're beating

(27:53):
Brady in Foxborough. It may not be a super Bowl,
but man, the world gets big fast. Yeah, I mean seriously,
it's it's it's your good looking guy. The world of
Jalen hurt.

Speaker 5 (28:04):
Oh, it's gonna explode, just blow and grow exponentially. It's
it's gonna be interesting to watch.

Speaker 4 (28:10):
You know.

Speaker 5 (28:10):
It's just another challenge for him, another hurdle. This you
know he was he they had this revenge kind of
you know, p rematch kind of chip on their shoulder
and people counted us out early. Now you're the favorite
and it's you know, uh, overcoming adversity and now it's
dealing with success and the Chiefs have shown a blueprint

(28:32):
on kind of how to do that. But for him,
now it's now it's kind of expected. Hey, this is
who you are. You've proven on the biggest stage that
you're gonna play a fish in football. You know you're
gonna use your legs, You're gonna beat these defenses and
make great decisions. Well, okay, this is now your new normal.
The bar has been raised. Let's let's keep seeing it.

(28:52):
And you know it's it's gonna be a great challenge
for him. But he's gonna a heck of a team
coming back. They've got to figure out the OC.

Speaker 1 (28:57):
But you know, his entire group, his manager all women.
That's true, fascinating. He's got a you know, his parents
are both educators. I think dad was a football coach.
This is a guy what I really This really jumps
out to me how secure he is in himself. He

(29:17):
could be so bitter. Yeah, he could, you could. I
mean he got he got sat during a national championship game.
A lot of doubters second second round. I mean the
offense this year, you got you got a J. Brown
reading on the sideline. Hey, the offense runs through takes.
It's noisy. He's a very secure kid.

Speaker 5 (29:37):
To me, it's he's just so I like watching his
press conferences because he almost speaks in like I don't
know if you've ever seen the Avengers, but he speaks
in like Thanos quotes, like he speaks in these you know,
he gives like great cliches and you know, like and
he's and he's well spoken. You know, he's a real adult.
He seems very mature, and it's it's fun of what

(30:00):
I mean, when you can move the ball like that
and go to your you know, off speed pitch, when
they take away your fastball, that's that's not easy to do,
especially against that team, especially against on the biggest days
in the world.

Speaker 1 (30:12):
Let me ask you, there's guy, there's Stafford rumors. I
mean there's a lot of rumors.

Speaker 5 (30:18):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (30:18):
Now, let's be honest. We've had in the last four
or five years. Russell moved, Kirk Cousins moved, Stafford moved.
This is becoming the league like there's big swings. So
your let's say you're Aaron Rodgers, you have a very
good career, you win a ring MVP, you go to
New York, little choppy, and then you think you're sitting
to yourself. Played pretty well. Aaron played pretty daring well.

Speaker 5 (30:37):
Almost four thousand yards well, twenty eight touchdowns, eleven picks.

Speaker 1 (30:40):
I mean I thought he was last eight weeks. It
was excellent.

Speaker 5 (30:43):
There's twenty five teams in the league that would sign
up for those numbers right now.

Speaker 1 (30:46):
I'm not asking you to get in his head. But
you got the money, you have the ring, you've got
the plotted, you got all that stuff. When you get
to the end, what stuff matters.

Speaker 5 (30:57):
Oh, it's got to be the right fit. So it's
for I think it's totally fit. It's got to match.
The puzzle piece has to match. And you know, somebody's
gonna take a fire on him. Somebody's you know, even
if it's after somebody gets hurt in August or something like.

Speaker 1 (31:12):
You know, Chip Kelly, I don't does that fit?

Speaker 5 (31:17):
I don't know with Pete and Chip about Kyle?

Speaker 2 (31:22):
Why not?

Speaker 1 (31:23):
Now that one's interesting.

Speaker 5 (31:24):
That one doesn't that that makes a lot of sense
to me.

Speaker 1 (31:27):
So do you think the fit, the schematic fit works
in San Francisco?

Speaker 5 (31:30):
Oh? Absolutely, I think so. And they have the structure right.
This isn't like a rebuild and a new offensive coordinator.
Somebody's never done. I mean, this guy's called thousands and
thousands the biggest moments. They have weapons. But I mean
that that's assuming we're moving off of Rock Party. So
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (31:49):
Yeah, I know, I'm saying if Perty's agents had sixty millions, like, Okay,
we're gonna go with Aaron.

Speaker 5 (31:53):
Sure.

Speaker 1 (31:54):
But when you say fit, that's an interesting word. Do
you mean schematic fit?

Speaker 5 (31:58):
I think schematic fit, I think environment fit. I think
supporting cast has to play a huge factor. It can't
all be on the quarterback. Somebody with a run game
would really help him out. But you know, and they
gotta want him as well. Right, It's got to fit
both ways. It's a two way street, and so I
think that's going to be, you know, a hurdle for

(32:22):
some of these teams figuring out is this the direction
we're going to go, Because just like the Jets did
two years ago, if you bring in a guy like that,
it's we're all in and the expectations increase exponentially. So
that's what I mean by fit.

Speaker 1 (32:36):
Yeah, I mean, you know, it's interesting. As Aaron's aged,
he's a little less mobile. I could argue that's better
in the Shanahan offense.

Speaker 5 (32:44):
Oh, no doubt. I mean he doesn't want he doesn't
want to scrambling. Yeah, like, just execute the play, yes,
and when we're in trouble, throw the ball away, fall down,
you know, take the sack. Whatever. But this is what
we're gonna do, and we're going to execute it at
a higher level over a longer period of time and
wear teams down. And that's generally their formula. When it's working,

(33:05):
it's it's tough to deal with. You've got players moving
all over the place, so satellite players that use Check
and Kittle and all these guys, I mean, a great
tight end like that Kittle, I mean Kittle and Roger
Holy smokes, i'd be a heck of a But we're
also saying that they're going to move off Brock And
I don't know if I agree with that.

Speaker 1 (33:21):
Well, you're the one that floated Aaron, and I do
think Aaron high Iq knows the league. He's not going
to move out of plays. Humbled probably a little bit.
I mean whatever, all right, but you did a great
job this year. For now, he's going on vacation, he's
going into the basement. Won't talk about it. I don't
have a problem. Are you going, What do you do

(33:43):
for the next couple of months.

Speaker 5 (33:44):
We got the twins on the way, baby twin girls,
so we're gonna have our hands full. But I'll be
back a couple of times, you know, break down some
of these college qbs and free agencies for us. I'll
be around.

Speaker 1 (33:53):
Keep your eye on Riley Leonard.

Speaker 5 (33:56):
There you go, all right, I'll look him up.

Speaker 1 (33:57):
All right, Well, it's the National Championship game. It's up.
I know you'll be able to find the tape. I
know I'm not asking you for Dayton's backup here. Mark
all right, everybody, thank you so much. Uh Luca and
