Speaker 2 (00:21):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:27):
By the way, Cooper Flagg had his opening presence conference
in Dallas.

Speaker 3 (00:30):
His sharp kid I went to Duke.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
So here's Cooper flag on how Duke got him ready
for the NBA.

Speaker 4 (00:40):
Being able to go to Duke and be onto that spotlight,
it's kind of a good preparation. And then even nowadays
with nio era and stuff like that, college kids are
kind of under a bigger microscope than ever. So I
think it's a great preparation, honestly for for me to
kind of come to the next level. And I've had
a year to kind of deal with a lot of
that stuff and the media and all that different stuff.

(01:01):
So I think it's just great for me to kind
of have that year of preparation.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
I mean, he should be in high school, just graduating
high school. Here's Jason Kidd on his new star.

Speaker 5 (01:14):
Just sitting here listening to him. Is it incredible. I mean,
we're talking about an eighteen year old who has all
the right answers, and it's talking about working out after this.
But you know, when you talk about his gift, he's
a basketball player and he's a winner. And I thought

(01:35):
he answered the question about position perfectly because I don't
look at the position, you know. I want to put
him in at the point guard. I want to make
him uncomfortable and see how he reacts being able to
run the show.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
Cooper Flagg point guard, Dallas Mavericks, learn It, Live It,
Love It coming point guard, Cooper Flag.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
That's exciting. Jmack with the news.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
Oh, turn on the news. This is the herdline news.

Speaker 6 (02:14):
Learn It, Live It, Love It is that fast Times
at Ridgemont High. Is that where you got that from? Gosh,
that's a great movie.

Speaker 7 (02:19):
Also, Cooper Flag coming up at the end of the
show in the headlines, but in this point guard is
not the headline.

Speaker 6 (02:26):
Let's get started, Colin.

Speaker 7 (02:27):
With the Tampa Bay Buccaneers yesterday they made a big
announcement that they signed coach Todd Bowles and GM Jason
like your guy to multi year extensions.

Speaker 6 (02:37):
Uh listen.

Speaker 7 (02:38):
Bowles has won the NFC South three straight years. He's
done great job since taking over for Bruce arians Light
is the NFL's fifth longest tenured GM, entering his twelfth
season in Tampa.

Speaker 6 (02:52):
I don't know, Bucks, just keep doing it. Look a
look at this stat This is kind of wild.

Speaker 7 (02:56):
Longest active playoff streaks. Casey obviously, Buffalo, oh obviously, and
then Tampa Bay.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
What. Well, they have a great GM, so their talent
is above average, and they've had Baker Mayfield and Tom Brady,
So I mean the quarterback. If you have a good
roster and above average quarterback play in a bad division,
you're making the playoffs. I mean, I think it's pretty simple.
And then GM, you know, I love their GM. So
they've had the best quarterback arguably in that division for

(03:24):
about five years running.

Speaker 3 (03:26):
And they've always got good rosters.

Speaker 1 (03:27):
Yeah, I mean, they've always got dudes since you go
back to the you know, trendill for days on. Maybe
that's too early, but they've had they've had good players
for twenty years. They could never get quarterback right, they
could never get quarterback right.

Speaker 3 (03:42):
Finally they get Brady.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
Into Baker now because they've always had good players. Now
they got quarterback right in a week division. So I
always feel at least since Jason Light's gotten there. I
don't want to say forever, because they were had lean years,
but when I covered them for a couple of years,
they probably didn't have enough talent. But wh Jason Light
became the GM, this is always an above average ross.

Speaker 7 (04:03):
Yeah, I think you hit on something. The division being weak.
I mean, the Saints can't get out of their own way.
We know, the Panthers have no clue, like you know,
and Atlanta Falcons are up and down front office of mess.
They don't want Belichick, you know, like it's just been
a mess. And Tampa Bay has been consistent and consistently
good since Bulls took over for arians, I like it

(04:24):
to move on to the NBA Colin where the Brooklyn
Nets had a curious draft strategy.

Speaker 6 (04:30):
They became the first team in the.

Speaker 7 (04:32):
History of basketball to draft five players in the first
round Colin.

Speaker 6 (04:36):
Four of them were guards. Now, Brian Winhor.

Speaker 7 (04:39):
Says executive and agents have been sending him messages to
make fun of what the Nets strategy is. I would
like to think there's a method to the madness here
and I like them and a lot the kid from BYU.
People love Drake Powell's defense. You know, I don't see
any home runs here current.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
In the end in the NBA draft, because I mean,
I just think, once you get down to the twenty second,
twenty six, twenty seventh pick, aren't you just taking the
best guy on the board from your scouting department and
if it happens to be guards. I mean again, this
is not the NFL where you know you're gonna get

(05:23):
starters in the second round and you're gonna get eventual
starters in the third. I mean, by the time you
get to the twenty second and the twenty sixth pick,
let me defend Brooklyn. And maybe it's just ridiculous, but
I'm there's just you. You just want the best guy
on the board that can make the team. To me, now,
NFL draft is different. I've said this before. In the NFL,

(05:44):
I will reach on players knowing later in the draft
I can fill holes. If I need a quarterback, I'm
going to reach for it like I'm just going If
I need an edge rusher, I'll reaching a guy. You know,
twelve picks beyond my scouting department, because I know I
can solve other holes in the second, third, fourth round,
maybe not the fifth, but the second, third, fourth, NBA

(06:06):
go look at history after the fourteenth, fifteenth pick. It's
just it's a dice roll for eighteen. You don't know,
you don't know how they develop.

Speaker 6 (06:13):
I mean there's only five starters.

Speaker 7 (06:15):
You know, NFL has eleven on offense, eleven defense. Every year,
there's like four starting spots open on teams.

Speaker 6 (06:21):
But I'm looking at the Nets payroll.

Speaker 7 (06:23):
And if you're wondering, how are they gonna have five
guys make the team. They've got so many contracts coming
off the books, and the Nets are gonna have a
lot of money in free agency next year, Colin, So
I don't know if Brooklyn's attractive. It was once for
Kyrie KD and James Harden, but they have a big
uphill climb. They're gonna be a bad team next year,
like twenty twenty five wins, Max, and then that's good

(06:45):
good news for my Knicks. Final story, let's go to baseball,
where show he Otani is going to make his first
road start for the Dodgers since returning to the mound
earlier this month, Otani's had two home starts, and that
means he's able to warm up before pitching. However, this
time there's a bit of a wrinkle show Hey will

(07:07):
lead off the game and then have to get ready
for warm ups. So there are Dodgers fans kind of speculated, well,
what if he's on second base when the out happens? Like,
how's the warm up gonna happen there? This is where
we are with the Dodgers, who are up five and
a half games in the nl WES. Luckily they face
the Kansas City Royals, who are something of a dumpster fire.

Speaker 6 (07:27):
But what do you make of out Tani going on
the road.

Speaker 1 (07:32):
I don't really think it matters where he plays, and
I think he's pretty good. Yeah, I just think it's
just I know baseball loves its history, but folks better
than Babe, not particularly close. I mean, the kid's unbelievable,
and his temperament is as impressive. He's got the perfect temperament. Yeah,

(07:53):
you can screw your life up a lot when you
get the kind of money and fame he's received. We've
seen it in Hollywood for years, the child actor thing.
You give young people that kind of money and fame.
Things go sideways fast, like he is just I mean,
there was that whole gambling thing where they found out
like his interpreter was a bad guy and a rebellum.

(08:16):
You know, everybody's like tying Otani to it's like, no, no,
it's not. It's it's when you got thirteen banks account
bank account some overseas and you got that kind of
money porn in young people are not accountants and CPAs like, yeah,
he's handled.

Speaker 6 (08:29):
It, two quick things on a towny one.

Speaker 7 (08:32):
It seems like they want him to pitch this postseason,
like they're starting.

Speaker 6 (08:36):
To get him ramped up.

Speaker 7 (08:37):
I'm surprised at that, but I don't know your thoughts.
Are we gonna see Otani like Game two of the NLCS.

Speaker 1 (08:42):
Is absolutely I mean if he now I'm mean now again,
not ideally. But the Dodgers have the kind of payroll
where they went and found pictures, good pictures. Yeah, but
who had injury histories. So the Dodgers aren't the Royals
where if you go pay money for a picture, he's
got to give you like twenty seven stars or he's

(09:03):
got to be there.

Speaker 3 (09:03):
The Dodgers can roll the dice.

Speaker 1 (09:06):
Right like on pictures like okay, we like last now
from Tampa. But he's had injuries, but could he be
available for two big moments in the postseason for the Dodgers.
That's worth it with their payroll. So they've got some
pictures with injury history, but they're all about September October
and real quick.

Speaker 7 (09:23):
The other thing on Otani, so when he got hit
by the Padres and it was bench just clearing. So historically,
there's a video on the online that's awesome about this. Historically,
you get hit, you're pointing at the other team, you're
putting your arms up, you're gesturing like what.

Speaker 6 (09:36):
The hell, I'm ready to go. Otani in this video
put his hands behind.

Speaker 7 (09:40):
His back and just casually walked over to the dugout,
speaking peacefully, in a peaceful manner.

Speaker 6 (09:46):
That's how men should operate, right.

Speaker 7 (09:48):
I know baseball, you get heated, you get fired up.
Otani just casually went over, Hey, guys, it's all good.

Speaker 6 (09:52):
What's up? And I just love that that.

Speaker 7 (09:55):
Like, I know, people are like young men now are
struggling to find role models and what is a man? Yeah,
you guys need to look at Otani. That is a man,
Like he does not get fired up. He's very chill.
He's looking to diffuse the situation. Plays through injuries.

Speaker 1 (10:09):
One of the first signs you're still a child, even
if you're forty, is constant eruptions. Like part of being
a man is being a grown up, like you know,
being an adult, be having coping skills, not getting to
fights at the local bar like that. That's one of
the signs you're forty two year old kid.

Speaker 7 (10:27):
Yeah, you know what a man is being a peacemaker,
not getting in fights, breaking them up.

Speaker 6 (10:32):
I don't know that's a man.

Speaker 3 (10:33):
You start a lot of fires on this show. It
should be noticed.

Speaker 7 (10:36):
Well, arguments and discussions. But I'm not getting in fights.
I met in a fight that came at me recently.
Well you know, I'm not getting I'm not doing that.

Speaker 6 (10:43):
I'm an adult.

Speaker 3 (10:44):
Come on, that's right. Jmak with the news.

Speaker 2 (10:49):
Well that's the news, and thanks for stopping by The
herd Line News.

Speaker 3 (10:53):
Chris Brusard.

Speaker 1 (10:54):
First things first, we kind of wrap up a lot
of our NBA coverage. You're after free agency, but I
want to bring him in and I was talking about
this earlier.

Speaker 3 (11:02):
Austin Reeves is fascinating.

Speaker 1 (11:04):
So the Lakers offer him, like, you know, four years
eighty nine million, which I think I would pay that.
I'd pay him twenty two million a year for four
years with a new TV contract.

Speaker 3 (11:14):
That would be good, but.

Speaker 1 (11:17):
He declined it because he wants to get forty five
millionaire up in a year for either the market or
the Lakers.

Speaker 3 (11:23):
And this is my take.

Speaker 1 (11:25):
Nothing takes you out of the championship window in the
NBA and NFL like paying b players a money Cowboys
and Dak Prescott, you're out of the championship window. Austin reeves,
I'd go to twenty four million a year. My take
on the Lakers is, if you don't make a move
in one year, you're either paying him forty eight or
somebody else's paying forty three. You got to get ahead

(11:48):
of this thing and not be the Cowboys. Am I
out of touch? Do you think he'd get forty five
million large annually?

Speaker 8 (11:55):
Well, you are right in that to have Luca Lebron
and Austin making max money and close to max money
for him is untenable, especially when you look at the
rest of the pieces for the Lakers, So that would
be tough for them.

Speaker 9 (12:11):
But I do agree. I do think next year.

Speaker 8 (12:14):
Let's assume it he has a season like he had
last year. He was twenty points almost six's is the
game he'll get. He will get big money on the market,
like he will leave the Lakers for big money elsewhere,
unless Lebron retires after the season and then the Lakers
he could be the Lakers second guy. But Austin Reeves,

(12:37):
as much as I like him as the second guy
on the championship team, I don't.

Speaker 9 (12:41):
Think that's the case. So it's gonna be interesting.

Speaker 8 (12:44):
Here's the thing, as far as you talk about getting
out in front of it, because I do agree. If
I'm the Lakers and we all know they need a center,
I am listening to offers for Austin Reeves. I'm seeing
what I could get with Austin Reeves. Here's the problem,
because he only has one year left on his deal
and could be you know, a team could trade for
him and then he could walk after a year and

(13:07):
they just gave away some assets for a player for
one year. So that's the challenge. Like Austin's value on
the market because of the contract isn't quite as much
as his production. So look, I would explore it, but
I don't know that they're gonna be able to get
anything great for him.

Speaker 2 (13:24):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays
and Noone Eastern non am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio
FS one and the iHeartRadio app. Hi, this is Jay.

Speaker 10 (13:34):
I'm the producer of the Paula and Tony Fusco Show.
Usually in these promos they asked you to listen to
the show. I'm here to ask you please don't listen
to the show. The hosts are two absolute morons who
have the dumbest takes on sports, imagicable. Don't listen to
the show so it can get Camps.

Speaker 3 (13:48):
What the hell are you doing in our studio?

Speaker 6 (13:50):
Get him? Ignore that fool.

Speaker 8 (13:55):
Listen to the Pauling Tony Fusco Show on the iHeartRadio
app or wherever you get your podcast.

Speaker 3 (14:00):
He's still moving, okay.

Speaker 1 (14:03):
Celtics have moved off True Holiday, They've moved off Porzingis
and it saved him two hundred plus million dollars. We
saw it coming, Brad Stevens. The minute the season's over,
boom boom. He made two moves. There are rumors about
Derek White being moved. There are rumors Jalen Brown to Miami.
What's your intel? Are they done making moves or are
they with Jason Tatum out, are they going to do

(14:24):
a total reboot?

Speaker 8 (14:26):
No, I think they're I don't think those two are moving.
Let's put it that way. There could be some smaller
moves and look as good as Derek White and Jalen
Brown are, I'm listening, They're not untouchable, right, So I'm listening.
But I don't think they'll get moved because remember, in
a year when Jason Tatum comes back, the southerns are

(14:47):
gonna be right there near the top of the Eastern
Conference again.

Speaker 9 (14:50):
So you want to keep some of these players. I
think they were smart to get rid of the money.
They're not gonna win the championship next year. Smart to
get that to.

Speaker 8 (15:00):
Hundred million dollars savings from the luxury tax.

Speaker 9 (15:03):
But it'll I think Colin.

Speaker 8 (15:06):
With the players they've got, and I know it's a
little bit of a downgrade, but I like Anthony Simons.

Speaker 9 (15:11):
He may only be there a.

Speaker 8 (15:12):
Year, but he can shoot the three, he can get
to the basket right. He will fit what they do now.
He doesn't defend, but I think he'll have to at
least put forth effort on that end. They'll get on
the floor from Missoula. So I think he'll improve in
that regard. And so I think in the Eastern Conference,
with all the injuries they I think they still will

(15:33):
fight fight for a fourth seed in the Eastern Conference
for home court advantage at the first They were eight
and two without Jason Tatum last year.

Speaker 1 (15:43):
Yeah, I know, and when I mentioned that a lot
of heat when I suggested they're fine without Jason Tatum
over the course of his season, They're not as good,
but they're fine, and I agree with you.

Speaker 3 (15:54):
I think they'll be.

Speaker 1 (15:55):
I think they'll vie for the Eastern Conference finals. Not
sure they'll get there. But Simon's can hoop hit shots.

Speaker 3 (16:00):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (16:01):
So I don't buy into this, Jase. I've said this.
I don't buy into Jason Kidd wants the next job.
I'm watching him today go on and on about Cooper Flag.
He's I got a d Cooper Flag. Kyrie's gonna sign
a long term deal and a great front line. The
Knicks two best offensive players don't play well together. I
don't get it. Forget the no state tax, better win
or weather. I don't think Jason kidds say I wouldn't

(16:23):
take the next job. But what say you? What are
you hearing? Well?

Speaker 9 (16:27):
What?

Speaker 8 (16:27):
I don't think Dallas will let him, you know, go
to the Knicks number one? And I do think he
likes this situation in Dallas. How could you not? But
Colin and the Mavericks are I think, probably better than
the Knicks win they're fully healthy.

Speaker 9 (16:43):
But when you look at the question.

Speaker 8 (16:44):
Mark, if I was Jason Kidd and I had my choice,
I would go to New York because here's why New
York's players are generally healthier.

Speaker 9 (16:55):
The problem with the Mavericks.

Speaker 8 (16:57):
Is that Anthony Davis, as great as he is, we
all know that we are concerned. Can we guarantee he's
gonna be healthy late next season and going into the playoffs.
Kyrie Irving will be thirty four when next year's playoffs start.
He's coming back in January or February from an ACL injury.
I thought it was smart to sign him. I'm just

(17:19):
saying these are question marks. And Kyrie was injury prone
to begin with, so now he's older, still injury prone.

Speaker 9 (17:27):
Same thing with AD.

Speaker 8 (17:28):
So I just if that team Colin in Dallas, if
it's fully healthy. If you could promise me Anthony Davis
will be fully healthy going into the playoffs.

Speaker 9 (17:39):
Cooper Flag, I think is gonna be.

Speaker 8 (17:40):
Good about eighteen point six rebounds, five assists, something like
that as a rookie.

Speaker 9 (17:45):
And if you could promise me Kyrie will be back
to top.

Speaker 8 (17:50):
Level form for him going into the playoffs, I would
give Dallas a chance to win it all. But I
just that's a big if with all of those situations
with Kyrie and ad So the Knicks, on the other hand,
obviously a far weaker conference that and injuries.

Speaker 9 (18:08):
Galore all over the place.

Speaker 8 (18:09):
So I think the Knicks have a better chance of
playing in the finals than the Mavericks do next season.

Speaker 1 (18:17):
Chris Brusard, Bru's gonna be on first things first at
the top of next hour. Oh by the way, just
one thought the Ace Bailey thing. My argument all day
has been good kid, no guidance? Where the adults? Are
you shocked at by the way his agent is not
certified by the NBA?

Speaker 3 (18:37):
Are you shocked?

Speaker 1 (18:38):
It's got a shaduer Sanders feeling a little like you're
like guys work out for teams. Be grateful. This is
an amazing opportunity. Have you ever seen anything quite like it?

Speaker 8 (18:51):
Yeah, I mean, this is just a situation, Kylin, Like
you say, bad advice, And I don't put this all
on Ace Bailey. He's a young kid, right, He's got
listen to somebody, but go get a real agent. That's
what you should have done. Like he is getting horrific advice.

Speaker 9 (19:07):
I actually think and I don't know, is Utah the
one team he didn't want to play for.

Speaker 8 (19:11):
We're not sure of that in the top five, but Utah, Colin, I.

Speaker 9 (19:15):
Think is the best situation.

Speaker 8 (19:17):
That's a better situation in the three places he wanted
to go, which was Brooklyn, New Orleans or Washington. He's
a really good coaching Will Hardy. Obviously, Danny Ames can
build a winning culture and franchise and he will have
the ball in his hands to do whatever he wants.
So he's got the freedom. So I think he's getting

(19:38):
horrible advice. I hope he's gonna be on a plane
to Utah to meet with the team and you know,
be with the team on Monday. If he's not, Look,
they have the leverage, all right, They're gonna tendering a contract.

Speaker 9 (19:50):
He's not gonna be able to go anywhere else.

Speaker 8 (19:52):
So I just think he's getting bad advice and he
needs to He really needs new representation to be honest.

Speaker 1 (20:00):
Yep, Chris Bruce Argancina Brew, Yeah you too.

Speaker 3 (20:05):
It's that time of the week. Jmack. You know it.

Speaker 1 (20:09):
You sit down there, the former news paperman dreams up scenarios,
dreams up what will happen in the future. It's one
of my favorite segments, and we call it Tomorrow's Headlines
today and it is next as we wrap up our week.

Speaker 3 (20:26):
It is The Herd.

Speaker 2 (20:30):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays
and noon Eastern non a em Pacific jmak.

Speaker 1 (20:37):
One of those segments that just it's a great way
to end the week. And you know, you used to
create headlines, but back then you were doing it for
clicks and relevance. Now you're doing it for accuracy. It's
more authentic and I really like this segment.

Speaker 3 (20:51):
Are you ready to go?

Speaker 6 (20:51):
You remember what happened last week?

Speaker 7 (20:53):
We called Kevin Durant to the rockets for basically nothing,
and then it happened two days later.

Speaker 1 (21:00):
That's what we do.

Speaker 3 (21:01):
Yeah, A couple of professionals.

Speaker 6 (21:02):
NBD that's no big deal.

Speaker 3 (21:05):
Yeah, I know.

Speaker 1 (21:06):
That tomorrows headlines today, what's the headline it?

Speaker 3 (21:11):
I mean for Cooper Flag and the Dallas Mavericks.

Speaker 7 (21:13):
Yeah, you know, I had this cooked up yesterday, pitched
it to this team, and then I see this interview
where they're talking about Cooper Flagg is point guard. I'm like, oh,
not great. Deadline for Cooper Flag will be the sixth man.
Sense Flag performs ventrol with playoff. I do have Dallas
in the playoffs like Boussard does, but I have Cooper
Flag starting out as a sixth man. I know that's

(21:35):
gonna irk you, but I'm of the belief they go
Max Christy and Clay Thompson in the backcourt, PJ Washington
at small forward, hear me out, and then Ad in
one of the centers. So PJ Washington his contract is
almost up. If they can showcase him next to Ad
looking good, they then flip him at the deadline. Insert
Cooper Flag as the starter around February, as opposed to

(21:58):
rushing in a nineteen year old as a starter, Like,
you don't want to damage him that early, you know
you could kill the confidence.

Speaker 6 (22:06):
Like I think they slow play.

Speaker 7 (22:07):
This and he's gonna be great coming off the bench
because Cooper Flag against backups around the league, He's gonna
eat well.

Speaker 1 (22:14):
And also, I've always had this theory that when you
go to college to pro, it's not that you double
the games.

Speaker 3 (22:20):
The pace is faster. I told you this with Chet Holmgren.

Speaker 1 (22:23):
I wouldn't play rookies like more than fifty five sixty games.
I mean you go from thirty six in the college
pace to eighty two in the NBA pace. You have
to defend in the NBA like I would never play.
I would never play like a rookie eighty games. I
really wouldn't. I would I the body needs a year
to transition tomorrow's headlines. Today draft is over. What's going

(22:45):
to be the headline for the Rookie of the Year.

Speaker 7 (22:48):
So just before everybody runs to Vegas, you know, holiday
weekend coming up, and wants to put.

Speaker 6 (22:53):
All this money on Cooper Flag to win Rookie of
the Year.

Speaker 7 (22:56):
Just just a thought, the headline will be here the TREBA.
Johnson becomes NBA's newest problem. I like Trey Johnson going
to Washington.

Speaker 6 (23:06):
Colin.

Speaker 7 (23:07):
One thing that a lot of people miss Jordan Poole
got shipped. He's gone, and you know he would soak
up a lot of the offense and shots. And they
have an interesting team. I'm higher on Washington over like
a three year span. So they traded out kind of
you know, the crazy Jordan Poole and some other guys,
and they bring in veterans for the locker room presence.
Chris Middleton, Marcus Smart, CJ. McCollum, Malcolm Brogden.

Speaker 6 (23:31):
They've got vets, but what they don't have is like.

Speaker 7 (23:33):
A reliable scorer. Trey Johnson comes from Texas. This guy
had eight games of twenty five or more points with
the long Orange last year, thirty nine percent three point shooter.

Speaker 6 (23:42):
I think he's gonna get buckets now.

Speaker 7 (23:44):
They're not gonna be great next year because there are
other guys just aren't awesome yet, but Washington is clearing
cap space that I'm just telling you this kid, Johnson,
he's a bucket. I lean heavily on fran Friscilla, who
you know from the old place. He knows college hoops
more than anybody, and he's been hyping this guy to
me like I'm a believer.

Speaker 1 (24:01):
Trey Johnson looking out, don't I mean, I don't know
if their games are similar, but you know, never forget
when Trey Young came in from Oklahoma to the NBA,
it was like.

Speaker 3 (24:11):
Scores scored every level.

Speaker 9 (24:13):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (24:13):
Now that he may have flaws and size issues and power,
but like if you can score AAU and you can
score in college, some guys just are bucket guys.

Speaker 3 (24:22):
Yeah, and this may be one of those kids.

Speaker 1 (24:24):
Tomorrow's headlines today, what's gonna be the headlines for the
NBA team with the biggest draw.

Speaker 6 (24:31):
So you know, we're doing biggest rise, biggest drop.

Speaker 7 (24:34):
And this is a tough one because you look around
and I'm like, I don't think I can go Celtics.

Speaker 6 (24:38):
I don't think they're gonna drop far. I'm with Broussard.

Speaker 7 (24:41):
I think the Pacers are still good enough. They're not
going to like fall out of the playoffs. So where
do you go?

Speaker 6 (24:45):
Colin?

Speaker 7 (24:46):
The headline will be aunt I climbac Dick Wolves clout
gets chased off a cliff, and I listen, I like, aunt,
we love their coach. I do think something's going on
in Minnesota. We don't know what's up with Randall. Obviously,
the nas Reed situation is big. You have to keep
him right. There's a lot of Rudy Gobert trade chatter.

(25:07):
And then you've got the kid Alexander Walker, who was
like their seventh guy and he was really good coming.

Speaker 6 (25:12):
Off the bench.

Speaker 7 (25:13):
If you all of a sudden strip out two of
those guys. What's going on with Dallas Now? They got
Rob Dillingham, who I like, but he wasn't ready to
play yet last year. And I just wonder the way
Ant talks so much trash after being the Lakers and
then to just get dusted so bad by OKC. They
did get lucky that Steph Curry missed that series because

(25:33):
the Warriors won Game one, remember, So, like, I just
feel like Minnesota could pull back a little, and the
West one through twelve, Colin is absolutely stacked.

Speaker 6 (25:43):
It's loaded. So I think Minnesota is a play in team.
I'm sorry.

Speaker 3 (25:49):
Yeah, I don't think it's crazy. I do love the
GM and the coach.

Speaker 1 (25:52):
All right, Tomorrow's headlines today, what's gonna be the headline
for the team with the biggest leap?

Speaker 7 (25:59):
Yeah, this one I don't think is difficult. Obviously, forget
the West, you gotta look to the East. The headline will.

Speaker 3 (26:05):
Be Flora Tudda.

Speaker 7 (26:08):
Magic pulls conference finals out of hat. I've got to
Orlando making the leap. I think you're with me. This
Desmond Bain move is huge.

Speaker 3 (26:16):
Now.

Speaker 7 (26:17):
I also look Colin So at one point they were
fourth in the East in late December, like they were
playing great, and then Jalen Suggs gets hurt and Palo.

Speaker 6 (26:25):
Bank Cao goes down.

Speaker 7 (26:26):
Ben Caro missed thirty or more games, Sugs over forty games,
Franz Wagner missed over twenty games. Like that's unsustainable. So
they struggled a little bit. I love the Desmond Bayan edition.
Bain Suggs backcourt is gonna be very formidable in a
weekend East. You and I like Palo Bank Caro. He
might be like an All NBA second team guy.

Speaker 6 (26:47):
He's very good. Franz Wagner excellent. I like what Orlando's cooking.

Speaker 7 (26:52):
I have them in the conference finals for now against
my Knicks.

Speaker 3 (26:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (26:57):
The you know, years ago I worked in Tampa and
him a Magic fan because I would they had Shaq
and Penny and Nick Anderson. So I went to a
lot of Magic games. It's a really good basketball community.
They love their hoops, and I always thought it was
a great place. If I was a free agent, I
would absolutely consider it. It's good to see them good again.
They're they're fun. They they've they've got an interesting history.
But last year they played the Celtics in the playoffs,

(27:18):
and you and I kept asking.

Speaker 3 (27:20):
Why are these games so close?

Speaker 6 (27:21):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (27:22):
Remember there were two or three where like should be
winning these games, Detroit and the Knicks, Orlando, Boston, the
NBA all out of physicality, and we were like, wow,
Orlando's like a year ahead of where they should be.
Now they add Baine. I totally agree tomorrow's headlines today,
What will the headline be for NB A free agency,

(27:42):
right Colin?

Speaker 7 (27:43):
The crystal ball's a little fuzzy right now, chandling your
British accent. Listen, this is a tough one because you're
looking for like.

Speaker 6 (27:50):
A Slashi move.

Speaker 7 (27:51):
So all week we hear well, Jalen Brown, there's rumors
Jalen Brown could he be moved? They already moved for Zingis,
They already moved Drew Holiday.

Speaker 6 (27:59):
Who who's next? Here's a hot take, Colin, The headline
for the Celtics.

Speaker 7 (28:03):
Will be Kawhy not clips trade short term stud for
long term plan. How's this Kawhi Leonard to Boston, Jalen
Brown to the paper clips. The Clippers are at that
transitional moment. They've got the new stadium. Kawhi Leonard is
he gonna play?

Speaker 6 (28:19):
Is he not?

Speaker 7 (28:20):
What's up with James Harden's future? Norm Powell wants to
break the bank. They need a star in that building.
I do believe Jalen Brown is a star. I think
you'd agree with me, right, I mean, he was excellent Finals.

Speaker 1 (28:30):
He plays on both f ends, and he plays every night.

Speaker 7 (28:33):
And most importantly, he's locked up for a long time
in his prime.

Speaker 6 (28:37):
I think the Clippers make a big move and go
for him.

Speaker 7 (28:39):
And listen, if you're out Jason Tatum for the season,
why not rent Kawhi Leonard. You only need him for
two years, right, Tatum and him could maybe be formidable
in two years. It's a long shot, But I do
think Jalen Brown, all that chatter, it's just too much
noise for me.

Speaker 6 (28:54):
I'm sending him to the Clippers.

Speaker 3 (28:57):
Well, I'll tell you that's a take. I don't know.

Speaker 6 (29:00):
Collegiately at cal he likes it out here.

Speaker 1 (29:03):
No, I think Jalen Brown would would come out west
in a second, Kawhi may retire? Well yeah, all right,
finally tomorrow's headlines today, what's the headline for KD. Now
he's a Houston Rocket?

Speaker 6 (29:19):
Yeah, you know, I kind of missed your take on this.
KD and the Rockets? Are they gonna be good?

Speaker 7 (29:23):
Are they gonna be great? Can they dethrown? Okc? How
about this one?

Speaker 6 (29:27):
The headline will.

Speaker 7 (29:28):
Be Segoons n' roses, h Town and Tinseltown equal parad
Dice City? Colin, how's this your Western Conference Finals next year?
KD against Lebron Rockets Lakers. Sorry sorry, ok see, you're
not making it. I really like this KD move, Colin.
If you look at the young guys on Houston who

(29:49):
were good, they didn't give up one of.

Speaker 6 (29:51):
Their top five young players.

Speaker 7 (29:52):
They kept Tabari Smith, they kept Read obviously shed Goon,
they kept everyone.

Speaker 6 (29:57):
And now you add KD to that mix with a
coach we both love in Udoka.

Speaker 7 (30:02):
I think the sky's a limit for the Rockets, who
were already the two seed last year. I think they
can easily get in the conference finals. And I know
you're out on the Lakers.

Speaker 6 (30:11):
I get it.

Speaker 7 (30:13):
Let's see what happens here in the coming weeks. I
trust uh Palinka, who maybe on the hot seed.

Speaker 6 (30:17):
I don't know.

Speaker 7 (30:18):
So I've got Rockets Lakers in the conference finals next year.

Speaker 6 (30:22):
Is that hot enough for you?

Speaker 3 (30:25):
Rockets?

Speaker 1 (30:25):
I have no problem with Apparently you have Sga leaving
or not wanting to play, and Komgren not getting better,
and Jay dubb is thinking. I would say, okay, sees
in the finals against Houston, and I.

Speaker 6 (30:40):
Don't hate that they're going to win sixty games again.

Speaker 1 (30:42):
But I will also say this, if Kyrie comes back
and plays next year, even if it's the last fifteen
games of.

Speaker 3 (30:48):
The regular season, it's it's okay. See in Dallas? Who
like I like Dallas.

Speaker 1 (30:58):
I got Jason Kidd that front line, Cooper Flag, Max
Chrispy's underrated Max Christy. And if Kyrie comes back, I
need finishers in the playoffs. You're not going to come
back in the first stelf. If he came back, plays
fifteen regular season games, then ramps up.

Speaker 7 (31:16):
So you know, Kyrie and Klay Thompson is a back court.
Are they guarding anybody?

Speaker 4 (31:21):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (31:22):
That's why Jason Kidd is talking about Cooper Flag can
play anywhere. Now, Remember, you don't have to be a
great defensive back court in Dallas because your front line
with Ad is so good defensively and so big. So
that's what I mean. Kyrie and Luca don't play defense.
They got to the finals because you know all these
bigs protecting the rim that was pre Ad, and Ady's

(31:45):
a better defender than all of them. So Dallas doesn't
have to worry about that. They can pass on being
great defensively in the back court. It doesn't matter for them.
J Mac, that's quite a week. Middle koff early, Thank
you John, and then Jay Mack came back and find John.
Jeff Goodman did a good job today. We're gonna put
him on the podcast. If you didn't hear Jeff Goodman

(32:07):
talking about Ace Bailey in the situation there, that is
Ace Bailey and listen, Lamar Jackson's mom was his agent. Yeah,
but Lamar was a centered kid. Lamar loves football Elan.
Lamar just like may not have trusted people. I'd never
worried about Lamar Jackson, his character, his quality. The Ace
Bailey stuff is wild. Last year at this time, I mean,

(32:32):
he was neck and neck with Dylan Harper, as the
number two pick, and Dylan Harper goes to he goes five.
That cost him like nine million up nine million north,
so you cross your fingers out. Reportedly he's a good kid,
but I just think when you're seventeen, eighteen, nineteen, twenty
years old, you need strong guidance. And his agent's uncertified

(33:00):
and has had legal issues. I'm just telling you what's
been reported. I'm just telling you the truth. You can
make about what you will. Jamck, I'll see you Monday.
Be careful, everybody. First things first is around the corners
to hurt
