Speaker 1 (00:05):
Welcome back to the Richard Sherman Podcast. What another week
for the San Francisco forty nine ers. They get their
star quarterback back Rock Party. There was conversations, including on
this podcast, wondering what they would do and when they
would bring him back. I thought maybe they would bring
him wait another week and allow him to heal, especially

(00:25):
with Mac Jones playing the way they did. But Kyle
Shanahan made the decision against the struggling Arizona Cardinals team
that he was going to make that call immediately and
have Brock Purdy start versus the Arizona Cardinals, and it
was a great decision. He had three touchdown passes in
the game. Looked very smooth from the opening kickoff until

(00:46):
the end. He had he throw it to everybody, threw
a touchdown to CMC. He got George Kettle involved for
two touchdowns. The defense played a solid game. They gave
up four hundred and fifty two yards, passing a lot
of it in garbage time. They were up majority of
the game, but Diamador Lenore had an interception. Uh Malik
Mustafa had had an interception and those are much needed,

(01:09):
much needed for a defense that has not been able
to get their hands on very many passes this season.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
I think that's only their second and third of the season,
if I'm not mistaken. Another feel good game for this
this team going into another a really, really, really winnable
game against the Carolina Panthers, you got to be feeling
really confident. You were able to get your starting quarterback
back and get him some reps, get his feet wet.

(01:35):
You could. You could feel the energy in the in
the stadium. I mean, what do they call this? I mean,
it's not Levi South, but it's it's it's Levi's Southeast.
I guess. Uh, but but this is another another great
game by the by the San Francisco for Niners. You
feel good. They're they're seven and four now with another

(01:57):
winnable game right in front of them. I guesst that
the Carolina Panthers. And then you got a tough game
against the Browns, and I know you want to say
that's an easily winnable game, but anytime you got Miles
Garrett out there wrecking games like he has against every
opponent that he's been I think he had four or
five sacks today, you got to be cautious of those games,
but a huge performance by the special teams as well.

(02:21):
You got you gotta. I mean, after what's been going
on in San Francisco the last few years with special teams,
what Eddie Panero has been doing, and I know faithful
he missed a number of pats today and that's you feel,
that's unacceptable, but it's it's fine, it's fine. It didn't
end up affecting anything, and he made the field goals

(02:43):
that matter. He missed the long sixty two yarder, then
there was a penalty that brought it back and he
was able to make the next kick. It's great to
see our special teams playing as well as they are.
I think. Another another aspect of it that's been really
greatly improved is the kick return game. Sky Moore opens
this game with a ninety eight yard kickoff return. Huge

(03:05):
play to settle this team down, to have them confident.
All Brod Purdy had to do was turn the ball,
turn around and hand the ball off to Christian McCaffrey
for the first touchdown of the game. Great. The concerning
things about this game, no sacks for the defense the
entire game. There was some pressure on Jacoby Brissett, but

(03:29):
He was forty seven to fifty seven for four to
fifty two, two touchdowns and the two interceptions we talked about.
They were able to force another fumble that was recovered
by Keon White. But I just who they gotta find
some pass rush. I mean, the trade deadline has passed,
so you're not gonna be able to look for any

(03:49):
talent that way. They're gonna have to get healthier, obviously,
but you gotta find some pass rush somewhere. It's not
sustainable to play like this. And you can see, as
Jakobe Rissett's numbers indicate, if you do not get pressure
on the quarterback, they're going to be very effective. Even
if it's a backup quarterback in the National Football League
that can be really effective. And Michael Wilson had the

(04:11):
game of his life fifteen catches for one hundred and
eighty five yards. Fantastic game for him. Trey McBride ten
for one fifteen. Those are the things that you worry
about that that you are cautionary tales against this team,
But there were a lot of positives for this young
San Francisco forty nine ers defense. Curtis Robinson twelve total

(04:33):
tackles in the game, the winters ten tackles in the game,
Nick Martin seven tackles in the game, and obviously Diamadoor
Leonore with the two interceptions. I thought it was a
solid game for them, and I look forward to seeing
what they are after heading into the by. You know,
they have two more games before the bye. If they
can find a way to get these two games going

(04:56):
to the by nine and four, I don't Niners fans
can be mad about that at all. I think they
feel really really good about that. I think they would
the team would feel confident. I think Kyle Shanahan, if
it wasn't for for Shane Sichin and Mike Rabel and
the seasons their two teams are having unexpectedly, he'd be

(05:17):
up for Coach of the Year. But they're definitely gonna
give it to those guys because they're playing fantastic, They're
coaching their butts off, and their teams are doing incredibly
well as well. Hmm. Now for the Seattle Seahawks, Oh,
the Seattle Seahawks. What a day. What a day. Everything

(05:43):
that could go wrong offensively went wrong. Everything that could
go wrong for Sam Darnold in this game went wrong.
They're playing against a division rival for the division lead.
They play as bad as they can play offensive and
they lose by two points. I know you don't like

(06:05):
to hear silver linings and all that, but I know
this defense and Mike McDonald after they made their adjustments,
they had some tough drives. I mean they stopped them
on the first drive of the game, fourth fourth down,
goal line stand and then Sam Donald turns the ball over,
they get it back inside the five and they go score.

(06:28):
I don't put that on the defense. It's a tough game.
It's what are you expecting them to do? They just
made a stop and even then it took to fourth
down again for the Rams to get in. That's not
a way you're gonna live and die in this league.
You're not gonna You're not gonna have success trying to
live that way continually. They had another good drive against

(06:49):
the defense later in the game, but the four interceptions
are what allowed the Rams to be in the position
they were in for the most part in this game.
I thought that defense played outstanding. Huge play by Kobe
Bryant after a Sam Darneld interception that really was able
to somewhat quell the momentum for this team, this Rams team,

(07:11):
but I think this is still confidence boost for the
Seattle Seahawks and kudos to the Rams. The Rams won
this game. They did good enough offensively, they made the
players that were there. Polkan Nicool played a fantastic game,
had a lot of yak in this game. Sam Donald
Stilled threw for two seventy nine and had a great

(07:34):
drive when they needed it to get the first one
and only touchdown of the game, and then tried to
get them in position after a great punt by the
Rams punter to pin them inside the one yard line.
It would have been a tall task for them to drive,
but they did their best. Kenneth Walker had a salad
game running the football. That the concerning part, again same

(07:58):
as it was for the San Francisco forty nine ers,
is with this elite pass rush and defensive line of
the Seattle Seahawks, they were unable to generate one sack
in this game. They were able to generate a turnover
and honestly, Keith Matt stafford in check most of the game.

(08:18):
He was fifteen to twenty eight for one hundred and
thirty yards and two touchdowns. Kyron Williams was able to
run the ball twelve carries for ninety one yards in
the touchdown. That was the issue throughout this game. Poka
Nicole had had a couple ended rounds that he was
able to get some yards drawn. But I think for
the most part, they did a good job holding the
receivers in check making stops. In the second half, they

(08:43):
played a really great game. But those four interceptions are
tough to overcome for anybody. Cameron Kitchens had two, Darius
Williams had one, that Kobe Durant had another, and you
just it's tough anytime you lose the turnover battle and
that and that drastic of a way is gonna be
tough to win that game, and you don't get enough

(09:04):
turnovers yourself. But all that being said, the Seattle defense
showed that they're a championship caliber defense, that they can
make stops, get stops on third down. You're not gonna
have a situation where everybody's gonna be going for it
on fourth down the way Sean McVay did today, and
usually when they do, your offense is gonna punish them.

(09:26):
They weren't able to today. JSN with another one hundred
yard game to continue his streak of fantastic play this season.
It's fine, stay calm, Seahawks fans. It's gonna be okay.
It's gonna be okay. This team is still I'm just
as confident in this team as I was before this

(09:47):
game started, and maybe even a little more so because
I know they can overcome adversity. This is a road
game against a really tough opponent, and you turn the
ball four times. If you don't turn the ball over
four times, I think the Seahawks easily win this game.
But they did turn it over four times, and it
was forced turnovers. The Rams executed the Seahawks offense did not,

(10:09):
so give them credit. But the Seahawks still went and
had a chance to win this game. I'llbe it on
the very long field goal. So take some solace in that,
Seahawks fans, this team can compete with anybody. And I
felt that way before the game. I still feel that
way after the game. I'm sure there's some plays they

(10:30):
want back. I'm sure there's some plays Mike mc donald
once back that for this defense. But to hold Matthew Stafford,
who came into the game as the leading candidate in
betting odds for MVP of the league. To hold him
to one hundred and thirty yards and two touchdowns is
a great performance. And Sam Donald isn't gonna play that bad.

(10:51):
I don't think ever again. I think he'll learn from
these mistakes. And I know Minnesota Vikings fans are like,
oh man, this see, this is why we let him go.
Please just shut up, Please, please just shut up. You
guys have no room to talk, no room to speak.
You're four and six with the Green Bay Packers coming
to town. You got to go play the Green Bay Packers,
and you're likely going to be four and seven. So

(11:13):
I hear all this about oh man, he played such
a great season for us last year only to play
terrible in the playoffs. You're saying that as though you
have improved in some respect. Now you're in a position
where you won't make the playoffs. So I guess you
won't have to deal with the quarterback potentially not playing
well in the playoffs because you won't be there. So
is that a better solution Minnesota Vikings fans? I highly

(11:36):
doubt it, So please just stay out of it. Right now,
you should have your team should have kept Sam Donald
in the story. It would have been better for both sides.
Sam Donald has continued to thrive, had a really rough outing,
bad outing this week, and will be criticized as such.
I'm sure he'll take he'll he'll take his share of
the blame. He'll understand that, he'll stand up to the
ponium and take his responsibility for those interceptions because they

(11:58):
were horrid intersect. I mean, it wasn't tip balls or anything,
just bad decision after bad decision after bad decision, and
he had all a bad, no good, very bad day
that he wants back, and his team still lost by two.
I think the Seattle Seahawks are so happy that they
have Sam Darnold at quarterback. I think they feel really

(12:20):
good about this team, as they should. Today's show is

The next game we're gonna talk about is the Buffalo

(13:52):
Bills versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Baker Mayfield has been
having a really good season as well. Struggled a little
bit in his game sixteen to twenty eight seventy three,
the touchdown in the one interception. They did run the
ball pretty well. Uh. In this game, which which which
it was a back and forth game. The score doesn't

(14:14):
indicate how close it was early on, but they they
were battling throughout this game. And Sean Tucker had had
a had a nice, nice game nineteen carries for one
oh six and the two touchdowns. Also had a receiving touchdown. Uh.
Sterling Shepard had five four catch for fifty four yards.
But again, this receiving corps, it's banged up. The running

(14:39):
backs are banged up. You're missing Bucky Irving and obviously
Mike Mike Evans is out for the season. Chris Godwin
was out this game, so Emmanuel I mean uh A.
Mecca Buca was held to five for forty yards. Again,
still just a rookie receiver and having a fantastic season.
But you're gonna have games like this. It's the defense

(15:03):
for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that's the biggest concern giving
him forty four yards to the Buffalo Bills. Not that
the Buffalo Bills aren't a good team, but we've seen
them be held in checked before. We saw them get
held in check. Just last week against the Miami Dolphins,
they were held to thirteen points. So a team that
got held to thirteen points the week before against the
Miami's Dolphins defense that has been that has been relatively

(15:26):
benign to go to the Buffalo I mean the Tampa
Bay Buccaneers, who have been considered contenders for a lot
of this season, and for them to give up forty
four points, I'm sure Todd Bowles is incredibly concerned and
frustrated with that game. Josh Allen had an MVP type
performance nineteen for thirty for three seventeen, three touchdowns passing.

(15:50):
He did throw two interceptions, but he also had three
touchdowns on the game, which ended up being a big
difference in this game. I think he's only his second
quarterback to do it. Not I forget who the other
quarterback is. To have three passing touchdowns and three rushing touchdowns.
I want to say it was a fits Magic, but
I don't want to give Fitzmagic that kind of credit.
But I think it was Fitzmagico. We can't get fitzsmatched

(16:13):
that kind of credit. But again, those are the things
that you can't have if you're a Tampa Bay team
that wants to compete for the Super Bowl this year.
But again they're banged up offensively, they're doing the best
they can. They gotta find a way defensively to get
more pressure on Josh Allen to keep points off the

(16:35):
board more than anything. You can't give up forty four
points and expect to be a contender in this league, unfortunately.
But the Buffalo Bills have a big rebound game and
Josh Allen look like an MVP in his game, carried
his team on his back. James Cook sixteen carries forty
eight yards, also receiving touchdown sixty six yards through the air.

(16:55):
Shavers had four receptions for ninety yards. They were without
Kean Coleman for I guess undisclosed reason. I mean, there's
speculation that he missed the meeting and that they set
him for that. Those are team rules. You gotta follow
the rules. So we'll see how that how that goes.

(17:18):
They were able to win the game, so it's not
as big of a story. If they lose that game,
it's much bigger a story. But the Bucks play the
Rams next in another tough game for them. The Bills
go to the Texans on Thursday Night Football will be
there starting our show at seven pm Eastern. We will
see you there. I can't wait to call it. I'm
doing a feature on a few Texans players, so please

(17:39):
check that out if y'all get a chance. But this
this Bills team. The thing I worry about most with
this Bills team is you're getting in a lot of
shootouts with great teams, and how often are you gonna
win those shootouts? Can you keep winning shootout after shootout
after shootout? And when you can't score on offense, like

(17:59):
when you when when they have an off day like
they did against the Miami Dolphins, does that defense have
enough to get the stops that they need to win
those games. That's that's gonna be the question that's going
to get answered, not until the playoffs. I don't think
it gets answered until we get in those critical situations
where we're gonna see and another big game this week,
the Packers beat the Giants and what was a tougher

(18:23):
game than I thought it would be for the Green
Bay Packers. And how critical I've been of Jordan Love
and you know now people are like, oh what you
think of him? Against the Giants. Guys. I love the
Giants as much as anybody, and I was I was
happy to hear their story and and and see them

(18:43):
continue to battle with Jackson Dart at quarterback. I expected
a fun game from Jamis Winston and it was that.
It was that he didn't throw for a touchdown. But
they scored twenty points, nineteen at twenty nine and one
yards and he threw the interception on Tracy eighteen carries
for eighty eight yards. They battled, they battle, but they're

(19:04):
a team that has not won a lot of games
this season. They're a two win team playing against the Packers,
who most people, including myself, believe are Super Bowl contenders.
But the quarterback situation, and I know people are saying, oh, man,
did you see Jordan Love. He carried the team. I

(19:26):
mean thirteen to twenty four, one seventy four and two
touchdowns and I watched the game. Number of drops from
his receivers, also a couple of spectacular catches, especially the
Christian Watson catch for his belief second touchdown was a
fantastic catch over double coverage. You can't play it any
better than that, you can't catch it any better than that,

(19:48):
And That's when you got to give to the receiver
for making a play and Jordan you got to give
Jordan Love credit for giving him a chance with that football.
But again, it's gonna come down to this quarterback. Regardless
of how you guys feel about it, good, bad, are indifferent,
It's going to come down to that. Now. The Matt

(20:10):
Lafleur thing I don't like because a number of plays
were schemed wide open in this game and they executed.
Of those thirteen completions, I'd say six or seven of
them were schemed open. One of the touchdowns the tight
end was schemed wide open, wide open, Which is fine.

(20:32):
It's not going to always be that way. You're not
going to be playing these giants in the playoffs. The
teams you're going to play in the playoffs could be
the Detroit Lions. It could be the Philadelphia Eagles again
who just held them to seven points. It could be
the Seattle Seahawks, who I think would feel really good

(20:53):
playing this Green Bay Packers team. It could be the Rams.
It could be the Rams defense. And are you confident
that you could go into La and beat the Rams?
Are you confident you can go on to Seattle? And
beat the Seahawks, which Jordan Love at quarterback. And I
don't need you to answer it for me in the
comments or anything like that. Answer it for yourself because
that's all that matters. You can lie to me, but

(21:13):
just don't lie to yourself because I don't see it yet.
I don't see the confidence yet. I see the immense
talent that's not hard to see. Min's talent. Can throw them,
put the ball anywhere on the field, can can can
move around with the best of them, really athletic great
on Can he execute down the stretch in critical games

(21:37):
when the game is on the line. I have not
seen it in the playoffs. I saw it in one
playoff game. I think it was against Dallas, and everybody
knows Dallas's reputation in the playoffs, but I have yet
to see it against anybody else. So until we can
see that, the jury's out, I'm sorry. They gave him
a lot of money and they have not seen it.
And I hear everybody talking about Sam Darnold go to

(22:00):
the playoffs. He did all that. I watched Jordan Love
struggle in the playoffs last year when this team got
there against the eventual Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles. Three
interceptions in that game, no touchdowns. He was an uber
conservative in his last game against him. He didn't throw
any interceptions, didn't throw any touchdowns. You're gonna have to

(22:22):
find a middle ground there. You're gonna have to find
a way to execute without turning the football over and
score points. That's gonna be the question, that's gonna be
the thing for Laflord. This was a good game for
the Packers. They played a Minnesota Vikings next game, a
game against a defense that had been up and down

(22:43):
this season. But Brian Flores is definitely gonna bring pressure
a division game. It'll be back and forth. They got
a young quarterback who's been hot and coldy turned them
ball over two times in this game against the Chicago
Bears this week. Played well in the fourth played well
in the fourth quarter, was able to help them come
back in this game, but still seventeen points not enough

(23:05):
to beat the Chicago Bears. So I think they should
feel good about the next couple of games. I think
they beat the Vikings in this game, but it's a
division game, and you know how those go. We've seen
them countless times. We saw weird upsets in division games
throughout this season, and I think that'll continue to be
the case. But I still feel like the Green Bay

(23:26):
Packers will be able to win against the Minnesota Vikings
when we get to see Jordan Love in the playoffs,
and if he executes well, he will get all the
credit in the world. That's what it'll be. I'm sorry,
Green Bay fans, that's what it's gonna be. That's what
it's gonna have to be. And until then, the jury

(23:47):
will be out. The jury's not out for you, guys,
because your franchise paid in fifty five million dollars. You
gotta feel good about it. And you don't have a choice.
You're locked in for a while. I, on the other hand,
have a choice. I'm going to get to watch and see.
And everybody's wondering, why aren't you giving Sam Donald the
same criticism, because with great pay comes great criticism. Sam

(24:12):
Donald making I think thirty seven million dollars playing at
thirty seven million dollars, he has seventeen touchdown passes, ten interceptions.
His team is seven and three. I think they feel
really good about what they got. If he was playing,
if it was getting paid fifty five million, which is
in the top two of the National Football League. I

(24:33):
would expect top two level play from Sam Donald. That's
just how it is in my book. Maybe my book's
not perfect, but that's where I feel about it. The
next game in the AC North the Bears and the Vikings.
The Bears have won seven of their last eight games.
I'm sure Ben Johnson is feeling great. You could see

(24:55):
Caleb Williams after the game, did not feel good about
his performance and no emotion after the game w Field Gold.
I don't think he felt like it should come down
to that. But they're learning to win and they're building
winning habits. DeAndre Swift had had a good game twenty
one carries for ninety yards, Cole Commit five carries for
forty five I mean five catches for forty five yards.

(25:17):
And on the other side, Jj McCarthy sixteen for thirty two,
one touchdown and two interceptions. Aaron Jones sixteen carries for
seventy yards. Did have a fun win a game. But
the story for the Minnesota Vikings this week is the
quarterback in Justin Jefferson For the quarterback, I said it

(25:42):
earlier in the show. I still feel like they should
have kept Sam Dornold. Who'll say that into the cows
come home, people say they should have kept Daniel Jones
as well. He took a little less money to go
to the Indianapolis coach for a chance to start because
he knew how they felt about jjm karthy. Were they
right about J. J. McCarthy will never know. He's still

(26:04):
pretty much, I mean pretty much a rookie, I mean
red shirt rookie, hasn't played a lot of football. But again,
when the expectations are so high because a team is
ready made to win, a team that just had a
fourteen and three season, the expectations are higher, So the

(26:25):
criticism is going to come with it. Now, you be
patient with JJ McCarthy. But again, what do we see
in college that made us think, hey, this guy is
going to be a real perennial passer in the National
Football League? Not a ton. It wasn't a lot at
Michigan that gave you the impression that he was going
to come up here and light up the National Football League.

(26:46):
He's playing pretty much like he did in Michigan, without
a great run game, without you know, and a defense
is trying to support him. But if they don't play
well enough, they're not winning, and so I think JJ
McCarthy is gonna have a hard time in this league
because you're not gonna find much better of a play

(27:07):
caller than Kevin O'Connell. You're not no matter where you are,
and you're not gonna find much better of a situation
to walk into as a rookie that gets drafted in
the first round than the Minnesota Viking you are, and
they're not gonna You got one of the best receivers
of the National Football League, a great tandem, you got

(27:28):
weapons around you. I think you got a good back
in the backfield. You might have to consider it two
good backs in the backfield. But when you have drives
in the second quarter with back to back interceptions, you
make it hard to win these games. And I know
he's young and we gotta give him time to grow,
but we don't have time in this league. Not fourteen

(27:50):
That made the decision to move on for a quarterback
that took him to a fourteen and three season. Again,
that's the kind of decision that sets a franchise back
because if he never develops into what Sam Donald was,
then then it's a waste. Then you just wasted some
of Justin Jefferson's prime. And I think that's what makes

(28:10):
him frustrated because he cannot see the vision right now.
He had a fantastic season last year with Sam Donald,
he could do nothing about the front office making a
decision that they made. And I know people are like, well,
Sam took a different offer for Seattle. You don't let
Sam take that offer. You franchise him and then negotiate.
He can't walk away. You franchise Tagg and he can't

(28:32):
walk and you can negotiate. He'll likely sign a good deal,
and then you take the franchise tag off him. It's
good to go. But when you play this game, when
you play this game and you say, hey, we're gonna
let him walk, We're gonna let Daniel Jones walk in,
the quarterback that you pick does not work out, it's

(28:54):
hard to find answers, like because now what do you
do this offseason? Because I don't see the Minnesota Vikings
recovering from this and going to the playoffs. I'm sorry,
unless the defense start playing at a really, really high tilt,
I don't see them turning this around and getting to
the playoffs. Because of how good that the NFC side
has been got a lot of teams playing well. You

(29:14):
got a lot of teams over five hundred right now,
so it would take it would it would be a
herculean task for them to chase down the team and win.
You got probably two teams in their own division going
to the playoffs and the Packers in the Detroit Lions
the Bears. The Bears in their own division got uh
we just talked about them one seven of eight. They're

(29:34):
seven and three, So they're at the top of the
division right now. So you're at the bottom of a
very difficult division, one of the best divisions in football,
and you have uncertainty that quarterback. That's a bad place
to be. And I know Vikings fans are like hoh
Man Sam Donald. He struggled today, He's still better than
the quarterback you have. Oh Man Sam Donald had four

(29:57):
in us up to see why we got rid of him. No,
I don't see it. I don't see why you rid
of them because you have no chance. You had fourteen
and three and he struggled in a playoff game. Okay,
I've watched quarterbacks struggle in playoff games. Jared Golf didn't
play a great game, and not a lot of quarterbacks
from the NFC North played well in the playoffs last year. Okay,
does that mean you're rid of them all? Let them

(30:17):
all walk? No, you're trying to mask your pain, and
I understand that I've been there. I've been there before.
You mask your pain a little bit, say oh look, look,
look they're struggling. Look that's why we got rid of them,
just to mask the tiers that you when you watch
your team that you have. I'm with your Minnesota Vikings fans.
I think you got a really good team. I think

(30:37):
the quarterback is going to be the issue, and you're
going to have to make a decision for another quarterback
next season. Is it gonna be Mac Jones? And you're
gonna have to trade picks to get Mac Jones in
that system because he's thrived in a system similar to
what Kevin O'Connell wants to do for the Minnesota Vikings.
Maybe there are a number of quarterbacks, but the fact
that that's going to be a conversation is telling you

(31:01):
may have been the wrong decision to let Sam Darnold
and Daniel Jones walk. That's all I'm saying. A good
game by the Chicago Bears and Caleb Williams and just
another good win. I can't keep saying good game because
it's not always a great game, but they keep finding
a way to win, and when you're winning in this league,
that's all that matters. The Bears got a tough game

(31:22):
against the Steelers next week. You never know what you're
getting with the Steelers team. Honestly, you know, they've been
playing really well defensively the last few weeks. They seems
like they've figured it out. Tomlin has figured out what
to do with these guys to get them motivated, to
get them where they need to be. And I'm looking
forward to the Bears against them because they've just found
a way to do good enough to win these games.

(31:43):
Whether it's a big time, high point shootout or a
low scoring game where you win on a walk off
field goal. They found a way. But the Vikings. Vikings
got the Green Bay Packers next week, another tough divisional game.
What are they gonna do to produce points against a
defense that's gonna bring a lot of pressure. Your offensive

(32:04):
line isn't great and those guys are gonna be hungry.
Michael Parsons is gonna be hungry. He needs his stats.
If Brashaun Gary's gonna be hungry. We'll see how that
game goes. I'm looking forward to it.

Speaker 2 (32:15):
You know why I'm obsessed with GLD, especially this time
of year. Bi men's jewelry used to be a nightmare.
It was either chief stuff that broke in a week
or some overpriced chain that blew your whole budget.

Speaker 1 (32:26):
Exactly. That's why I rock with GLD. Mitchell. They chased
the game. Real quality that's built to last without maxing
out your car.

Speaker 2 (32:34):
And it's real gold too, Richard, No cheap, hollow nonsense,
every stone his handset. Look Richard, what do you think
of this?

Speaker 1 (32:42):
Man?

Speaker 2 (32:42):
You can feel the weight? Tell me this wouldn't be
the perfect holiday gift. Come on, man, that looks queen, Mitchell.
It looks crazy on camera, but it looks even better
in person. And gold has everything, chains, pendants, earrings, rings,
ice that watching. One stop and your whole list is done.

(33:03):
And Richard, you know how a new chain hits. The
fit looks better, the confidence jumps people notice. People noticed
me last night when I was wearing this.

Speaker 1 (33:12):
I'll tell you that, Mitchell. They always notice you, baby,
and we not the only one saying it. They got
over two million customers over fifty thousand five star reviews,
plus Justin Bieber, Michaeh Parsons, Tyreek, Kiel Malik, Neighbors ASoP Rocky.
Everybody's rocking cod.

Speaker 2 (33:31):
And I'm brocking it too, Richard, and their collabs are wild, NFL, NBA, WNBA, MLB,
NCAAA MLS. You want me to go on, Richard. They
even got DC comics. Whatever you rep, they've got it
iced out.

Speaker 1 (33:46):
And they got every price point from the eighteen care
Gold played his stuff to the solid gold in natural dimes.

Speaker 2 (33:52):
They'll even make a custom one of one piece for you, Richard.
You want that RS bling on your chest. I know
you do. They'll make that custom one piece for you.

Speaker 1 (34:01):
Well, I might have to check that out. But every
piece that they have is guaranteed for life. Wow.

Speaker 2 (34:07):
And this holiday, don't just give jewelry, give something that
lasts forever. With GLD, work hard and change the game.
Gold's holiday deal is unbeatable. For a limited time only,
New customers get fifty percent off plus a free chain
at GLD dot com when you use code Richard.

Speaker 1 (34:28):
That's fifty off in a free chain. When you use
the code Richard at gold dot com after your purchase,
they'll ask you where you heard about them. Please please
support the show and tell them we sent you Richard.

Speaker 2 (34:44):
I got two chains on right now from GLD and
these are classy. These are clean, they're neat, they're nice.
You can wear them out any any attire you want.
I love rocking these things. Check them out, guys.

Speaker 1 (34:58):
Another another contending team coming into this season that is
struggling and they are in trouble right now are the
Kansas City Chiefs. The Denver Broncos found a way to
beat the Kansas City Chiefs. They won this game twenty
one to nineteen walk off field goal, and they are

(35:19):
now nine and two. And the Chiefs ten games into
the season, are five hundred five and five and play
and have no control over their destiny or their ability
to make the playoffs this year. They're gonna need a
lot of help from a lot of There's a lot
of different scenarios. If certain teams win, they're out. If

(35:39):
they need a few losses here and there, Jacksonville maybe
to lose a couple, the Chargers to keep losing. But
it's no straight path to the playoffs for the Chiefs,
and you really start to get concerned when you look
at the way they lost. You know, Patrick Mahomes was
under the rest a lot of this game just does
not look comfortable defensively. We watched the Broncos and bo

(36:05):
Nicks struggle royally against the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday
Night Football, and today he throws for two ninety five
he throws for two hundred ninety five yards, And those
are the things that you're you're You're like, okay, you
know you it can go in either way in a division,
But you wonder, is this the chief defensive old Is

(36:27):
this the Spags defense that we've come to know that
has been really really effective and been championship caliber year
after year, year week after week. Is it that same defense?
Are you getting that same championship effort from these guys?
And unfortunately, it looks like there's a changing of the
guard in the AFC West. It looks like the Denver Broncos,

(36:48):
I can't say, it looks like they are the class
of the AFC West right now. They're on top of
the division and they're dominating. Give them a lot of
credit their defense. The Denver Broncos defense is legitimate. They
sacked Patrick Mahome three times in this game, and then
offensively they were they were held in check. The run

(37:09):
game was held in check. But bow Knicks made enough
plays to win this game. So what's what what do
the Kansas City Chiefs do from here? Again, you can't
trade for anybody. People are starting to get cut. They're
getting some reinforcements from the free agency market. Some of
their old guys, they're old players, mostly d linmen, are
asking for releases and getting them h and they're picking

(37:31):
them up. But the Chiefs got the Indianapolis Colts next week,
and the Indianapolis Colts have been one of the best
teams in football. You're looking at the Chiefs team that
is struggling back against the ropes, playing against a team
that looks incredibly complete. They look like, I mean, a

(37:54):
team that could potentially be going to the Super Bowl
this year if they if they can continue it through
the play, which is a bigot. What did the Kansas
City what does what do the Kansas City Chiefs do
in this situation? Because this is the forking road, and
I know we've talked about it before. Every season, there's

(38:17):
there's some kind of lull in the season where you
think the Kansas City Chiefs have struggled and they're they're okay,
they're this, they're that, but they're gonna find a way
at the end of the season to win. Hey, the
Kansas City Chiefs Patch Mahomes grow on the most interception seat,
But YadA, YadA, YadA, they're gonna find a way to
win at the end of the season. You say, hey, man,
the offense doesn't look great, but the defense is world class.

(38:38):
They're gonna find a way to win in YadA, YadA, YadA, YadA.
They're five hundred right now, and I do not see
a path for him. I don't see a path. I
don't see things improving in the way they're gonna need
to for the Kansas City Chiefs to be in the playoffs.
I mean, forget Super Bowl. This may be the first
year they missed the playoffs. And that's not what I
was expecting to say coming into this season. Obviously, they

(39:00):
got a tough game against the Indianapolis Colts. Next week,
they got a winnable game against the Dallas Cowboys, but
who knows how they're going to play in that game.
I mean, it's been jacklink Hide a little bit, but
there are winnable games throughout the rest of the season.
They could they could probably Let's see, I think they

(39:21):
lose to the Colts. That will make them five and six.
Then they can beat the Cowboys. Depends on how they
play against the Texans. That can go either way. Is CJ.
Stroud back? Is their offense playing Can the Kansas City
Chiefs offensive line hold up? I don't know. Let's we'll
call it a win. So that's two wins. That gets
them to seven and six. Then they got the Chargers,

(39:46):
who are without their two all world tackles. They can
win that game eight and six, the Titans nine and six.
I think they lose to the Broncos on Christmas, then
they can beat the Raiders and be ten seven. Is
that good enough to get him in the playoffs this year?
I guess we'll see. It's gonna be tight. It's not

(40:06):
gonna be like any other year. But again, if the
Chiefs get in, they're a very dangerous team. They're a
team that finds a way to win late in the season.
They're a team that knows how to get to Super Bowls,
knows how to prepare and knows how to execute down
the stretch. But they definitely need the Chargers to lose,
which they did today, and the Jags to start losing.

(40:27):
I mean, you can't both lose because they played each
other today, but they're gonna need some help. And I
don't know, Chiefs fans, is it's the year they miss it?
We gonna see the Steelers finally look like the defensive
team everybody thought they'd be coming into the season. They
beat the Bengals twelve thirty four to twelve to move

(40:48):
to six and four on the season, are now leading
the AFC North and feeling pretty good. Aaron Rodgers didn't
have his best game and got a little banged up
in the game. Mason Rudolph had to come in and
he went twelve to sixteen for one hundred and twenty
seven yards in a touchdown. But the story of this
game is did Jamar Chase spit on Jalen Ramsey. I

(41:10):
don't know. It kind of looked like it, and by
Jalen Ramsey's reaction, it looked like something had to had
to happen. You know, he's he's a guy that plays
with a lot of fire and a lot of a
lot of enthusiasm, but it definitely looked like Chase might
have spit on him, But we don't know if he
spent on him or not. But if he did, that's
uncalled for in this game and you can't have it.

(41:32):
But this Pittsburgh defense is playing at a high level
and they have the last couple of weeks. They get
two touchdowns in this game, a seventy three yard pick
six by Kyle Duggar in a forty or thirty four
yard fumble return by James Pierre. Huge plays by his

(41:52):
defense that really helped the struggling offense get its footing
in a tough division game. Again, He's division game are
always gonna be a grind, They're gonna be backing for
a brawl, but you gotta win, and the Pittsburgh Steelers
had to have it. They have tough games coming up
and that are all must wins. With with the Baltimore

(42:12):
Ravens right on their heels, they got the Bears, who
again we talked about it one seven of the last
eight and just finding ways to win. The Bills, who
are playing some up and down football but played a
really dominant game versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a team
that's been really good offensively this season, and then they

(42:33):
got a dogfight of a game in the AFC North
Division against the Baltimore Ravens. That's gonna determine their season.
That's gonna determine a lot of things coming up. How
this is seeded, who's gonna win this division, et cetera,
et cetera. That's why I love November December football. It

(42:55):
always comes down to the wire. The Bengals next game,
the Patriots, who've won I think eighth straight now and
looked to be the class of the AFC right along
with the Indianapolis Colts. So we'll we'll see Pittsburgh. We'll

(43:16):
see if they can continue this. Their next three games
will tell the tale. Is Aaron Rodgers gonna be okay?
We'll have all those answers for you by the middle
of the week. The next game in the AFC North,
the Ravens defeat the Browns Lamar Jackson gets sacked five times.
I think four of them were Miles Garrett. Derek Henry

(43:38):
eighteen carries for one hundred and four yards in a touchdown.
The story of this game, Dylan Gabriel knocked out with
a concussion. He was seven to ten for sixteen sixty
eight yards. Shador Sanders comes in and he struggles. It's
tough to come into a game without taking starter reps
throughout the season, but he was four sixteen for forty

(43:59):
seven yard and it intersections. That's a rough game. Based
on how the concussion protocols and everything usually go, I
would guess that that Dylan Gabriel is probably out another
game and shar Door Sanders may get his first start
of his career next week versus the Raiders. We'll see.

(44:22):
I'm excited. Unfortunately, I hope Dylan Gabriel gets healthy. You
never want to see injury or guy go in because
of the injury. But if he's out, Shador Sanders gets
another opportunity, this time with a full week of starterer
reps and a game plan is tailored to his strengths
and it's tailored to the way he plays football, and

(44:42):
so we'll see. We'll see how that goes. He'll be
playing for the against the Raiders and Pete Carroll, who
may be looking to make a trade or gonna make
a decision at quarterback for the this offseason. I think
they're clearly going to draft one in the first round
based on how Gino has been laying. If I'm not mistaken,
they I've seen the bench Geno right now. For Kenny Pickett,

(45:06):
I believe so it'll be a winnable game for the Browns.
Uh in a. In a if you're gonna ask for
a team to start against, this is as good of
a chance as any for Sir Door Sanders. Uh. They
don't bring a ton of pressure, they don't do a
ton of exotic things on defense. We'll see what he's
able to do with it. All odds and lines are

(45:28):
brought to you by our partners at hard Rock Bet.
We've got the Cowboys at the Raiders on Monday Night
Football tomorrow. Hard Rock Bet has the Cowboys has a
three point spread in this game. I think that's accurate.
I mean, I would hope they would would would be
able to to pull away by more. The Raiders have
struggled mightily this year. They're going with Kenny Pickett, I

(45:54):
believe at quarterback. Who knows how that'll go. There's some
unpredictability there, but you would think with the all offensive
weapons that the Dallas Cowboys have, they should be able
to put up some points and really really pull away
from this Raiders team that struggled offensively and struggled to
put points up this season. We'll see, we'll see. But

(46:14):
that's what your boy thinks is going to happen. Am
I right? Am I wrong? The stats will tell the story.
I appreciate you guys joining me as always. You could
be anywhere in the world, but you here with me,
and I surely do appreciate it. We will see you
next week. Hit that sub button if you knew

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
