This is the best of The Jason Smith Show with
Mike Harmon on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (00:30):
I'm fine, we gotta split. I'm fine, sure, we gotta split,
which is why.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
You started muttering, unflesh, No, no, I'm still here your
breast listen.
Speaker 1 (00:40):
I'm so worried about the bullpen and Edwin Diaz, who
has become the lamar Odom of Major League Baseball. Every
other game he can close. Uh.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
We talked about sweating relievers for a long time. It
just becomes the insert name here put with a Bell
Crow nameplate. For most other teams.
Speaker 1 (01:00):
You lose a game like Game two of the Mets
and the Phillies, It's, oh, what a disaster. How do
you bounce back? Mentally, the Mets are like that was
like our fifth most exciting game this week. We're fine.
We'll see you Tuesday night at City Field. Everything is good,
Dell Worrio.
Speaker 3 (01:13):
About a lot of that became a hey, I just
eat a nap after everything that went on for your
squad over the course of the week, the craziness of
each of those games.
Speaker 4 (01:22):
Yeah, just just get me to it off day, That's
all it was.
Speaker 1 (01:24):
Jason, Yeah, what do you got Frostby?
Speaker 5 (01:26):
No, we played that open has nothing to do with
this year's Mats right, Oh no it does. Oh really,
I didn't know that. Really Randomly, Mets fandom has never
been this strongest.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
They do.
Speaker 3 (01:40):
They actually spin a wheel and it's got the various
opens that the imaging staff has created.
Speaker 5 (01:46):
Ricky and Veto, that's a pretty garbage open if you ask, Wow,
our image guys are not going to be happy with you.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
They're gonna be ways mass the country. They're gonna be
waiting for you in the parking lot like your Dodger
fans of Machada out man.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
Man, Hey, I keep my head on a swivel going
into that parking lot after some of the stuff he
says all the time.
Speaker 1 (02:08):
Jason swear to Night twenty four years ago. Tonight wait wait,
oh oh Benny Bayani. Yeah, yeah, thirteenth inning, Yeah, thirteenth inning, Bennyn.
That was a great, That a great Why you named
your dog Benny?
Speaker 6 (02:22):
Now?
Speaker 1 (02:22):
That was all he wanted for Benny and the j
you wanted for Benny.
Speaker 4 (02:25):
I think you agreed because it was Benny.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
No I want, no, no, no, I wanted I wanted
an order. I wanted Drago because Benny's the tiniest multi poo,
the sweetest dog in the world. But I wanted something fierce, fier,
So I said, how about four or or Drago or no, no,
you can't name your little tiny dog dragon. That would
have been the best, though. It's gotta be like a Rottwiler.
(02:50):
He's Drago. What are you doing.
Speaker 3 (02:52):
He's a little dog guy, crooked teeth. You know, he's
got all sorts of uh don't even know. He's got
five or six different type of dog in him. His
name's type. He's there's there's nothing legal about you know,
he's But does he make you carry him around places
on a chair? The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harvin

Speaker 1 (03:31):
We'll have more baseball coming up. Right now, my dad
gripping his ass off as the Yankees are losing for
to one to the Royals in the seventh inning. This
game is I think this game started for one. I
think at top of the first inning they roll dice,
all right, starting for it. It's been for to one forever.
It's very long game. It's been for to one forever.
Speaker 4 (03:48):
A long game.
Speaker 1 (03:49):
It seems. I will say this, you know, not because
I don't get this that often with all the extra
playoff rounds, and and maybe because now I'm I'm you know,
I'm looking at my team with a lot of with
a lot of things at stake here in the second
round of the playoffs. There there looked the games. The
game seems so much longer when it's your team, that's
(04:10):
really I'm like, it's the fifth inning. Oh, it's only
the like it seems a lot. It seems like the
games are way.
Speaker 4 (04:18):
Too The running time was only two hours and fourteen minutes.
Speaker 1 (04:20):
Like, no, there's no chance, and they're ignoring you know,
they're ignoring the pitch clock. Now, they're ignoring batters are
getting time out all the time when they step out.
It's like, yeah, it just don't embarrass me, and I
won't call that h But the games are just so
they just feel so long. It's like, oh, okay, Like, hey,
if we go to seven innings in the playoffs, right,
that'd be cool, long.
Speaker 3 (04:41):
Enough to where you felt like you needed to throw
water bottles to get the action started again.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
Maybe that's the other part is that Mets games really
don't start until the eighth inning. Like they're kind of
generic until the seventh or eighth inning. So let's just
start here. But let's just start here.
Speaker 3 (04:54):
The NBA back in the day, right, it's like, all right,
we'll tune in with about two minutes left, see where
we're at. Yeah, if it's closed, will stay. If not,
we're gonna go find a rerun of Young Shelton.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
It's all you need. But again, we'll have more baseball
coming up. Yeah, Yankees losing four to one as day
bat in the bottom of the seventh inning, they have
one on and two out. But Monday Night football a
missed field goal by Harrison Bucker. He just joinked it
off the crossbar. So the Chiefs lead over the Saints
stays sixteen to seven with ten minutes to go in
(05:25):
the third quarter fifty one. Now, there are many things
to take away from this, but let me let me
say this, because this is not going to be popular,
but it's realistic. And if you are paying any sort
of attention to the team in the last year and
now a quarter year and a third, you will understand
the Chiefs as we know them are dead. The Chiefs
(05:48):
as we've known them for the past seven eight years,
they are dead. They are gone. The excitement, the Mahomes
up and down the field, the four hundred yards a
week and four touchdowns, the I'm afraid to get behind
by ten points because now the game is over. They're
just gonna boat race us. Those Chiefs are dead, and
they've been replaced by just another really good team with
(06:09):
a really clutch quarterback who can make big plays. They
have a pretty good defense, probably the best of the
Probably this is the best two or three year run
defensively they've had in the entire Mahomes era. But that's
kind of what they're They're just another really good team
now with a really clutch quarterback. Because honestly, Mahomes for
a season in five games now, he's been a game manager, right,
(06:30):
That's kind of what Mahomes has been. And you can
argue so many different things, but he's made it work
with different levels a wide receiver and they still won
Super Bowls without Tyreek Hill. He's been able to make
it work. But this is not the same team. And
Mahomes is a guy that doesn't throw it downfield anymore.
He's a guy that gets in trouble more often than not.
He throws the ball away more often than not. He
throws makes bad throws more often than not. He made
(06:51):
a couple of throws tonight that if Aaron Rodgers made
those throws, you would say.
Speaker 4 (06:54):
Oh, his career is over it.
Speaker 1 (06:55):
No, Mahomes makes those throws.
Speaker 3 (06:57):
No, he's not forty coming up surgery and playing for
the Jet But that's not on the Jets. But but
that's really where the Chiefs are. The Chiefs went from
this indestructible, insurmountable rock star team that you are afraid
and intimidated to go in and play every single week
because they had so many ways to beat you offensively before. Well,
(07:17):
the refs still do well, they still help, they still help,
but they help on defense.
Speaker 1 (07:23):
But but like I said, but in their in their place,
they've just become another really good team. They've lost that
that aura of invincibility, the aura of an aura of excitement,
they've really lost because it's watching the game is not
what it was. And we should still be watching the
Chiefs and say, man, this is just amazing. Look at
(07:43):
what they're doing. They're still winning, it's awesome, and just
saying so many glowing things about Patrick Mahomes. But we're
just not because this is not the team that we've
watched the last seven eight years. This in place of
it is just, hey, we're another really good football team.
Speaker 3 (07:56):
But that's the thing, right, it's not flashy to where
it becomes hate watching like that.
Speaker 1 (08:02):
That's gone.
Speaker 3 (08:03):
Except for the folks that are mad that Taylor Swift
showed up tonight. Why didn't you pay attention to my
superstar that's showed up in our game.
Speaker 1 (08:11):
Nobody cares.
Speaker 3 (08:12):
But it's the offense as it's run out now. I mean,
you're running three tight end sets, you're running jumbo packages
and say, hey, guess which one of our tight ends
is gonna catch the ball? Hell, I think they have
four tight ends that have caught a pass tonight. You know,
in the backfield, you had to go out on the
scrap heap with the injury to Pacheco to go get
Kareem Hunt, who's played pretty well tonight against the Saints.
Speaker 4 (08:34):
At the receiving corps.
Speaker 3 (08:35):
It's like, all right, we'll bring back Juju Smith Schuster,
you know, after the Patriots couldn't do anything with him
but for the receiving gores all Rashie Rice. He got
blown up by his own quarterback. Right, that guy looked
like he's not that he's an A list number one,
but compared to whatever they had, he was light years away.
Nicole Hardman comes back tonight, all of those things to say,
(08:56):
you've got a strong defense, kicking game that you usual
really reliable. Right, he missed one, but he's got you know,
three others. And in today's NFL, I mean, I guess
it's an extension of what we've seen and what we
lament when we.
Speaker 4 (09:11):
Watched the Steelers tough loss last night.
Speaker 3 (09:14):
Justin Fields, I think going back to Chicago days now
he's two and twenty eight. When the opponents score at
least twenty points, think of that what you will. But
we've watched the NFL as a whole kind of change
a bit, and we got out of it for a
couple of games yesterday. But look at how many fee
how many times teams are working just to get into
long field goal range. Right, you're not taking shots downfield,
(09:37):
You're not trying to blow the doors off anyone. It's
let's not make the big mistake because we got a
guy that we can kick upwards of fifty yards with
pretty good success. So let's take the three points and
move on. And with Mahomes, Yeah, it's been a radic
it's been off. The offensive line is not what it
once was. We saw, you know, changes over the last
(09:59):
couple of years. But in the entirety of the AFC,
what do you got? You got Baltimore and then what
else in terms of that same level, there's still a
really good team, but not enough to hate watch. So
Patrick Mahomes just to drift into this next phase as
a let's see what he does.
Speaker 1 (10:16):
Yeah, I mean even this year, like how much of
the hatred and vitriol is there Travis Kelcey and Taylor Swift.
I can't stand it's oh yeah, I don't really care.
Yeah okay, yeah yeah, but wait no, I can't even
muster that up. I can't.
Speaker 3 (10:30):
I mean, it was outrage to be but you can't
even trump it up this year because Kelsey's not the
primary target again, pace yourself, round yourself into shape, right
because they need him December January versus running a ton
of routs.
Speaker 1 (10:50):
And it's not the thing though, in their place. They
are now just and I say just just because of
what they were. They are now a really really good
NFL team. They have a really good defense, and they
have a quarterback who's still the best quarterback in the NFL,
who makes clutch plays more than he does light up
the scoreboard.
Speaker 3 (11:09):
Yeah, it's like traveling road show. We're gonna watch this.
This is a fun They're up and down, he's winging
it out. I'd rather watch the Falcons. I mean, come on, man,
I mean the Falcons are a better show than the
Chiefs are.
Speaker 1 (11:19):
Now this is true. I mean, yea kirk Man flying
all around winter lose Winter, lose got any shirts as
you buy a Coles. The next day I went shopping
at Coles and at Target. So that's how much you know? Double? Yeah, yeah,
I get that. I walk in. I always take the
picture next to the kirk Cousins cut out that's standing
right there. You take the picture and you go in
and shop. Did you do all lunch a Camart Express?
Speaker 6 (11:42):
No?
Speaker 1 (11:42):
No, No, Panera because it's right next door. It's good.
God they got a bread bowl and should half soup,
half sandwich. And wait what you I'm gonna have a
kirk Cousins. You have me kirk Cousins days. I've had
where it's been what we can do. I'm gonna go
to Panera for lunch, I'm gonna go to Target, I'm
gonna go to Costco and then I'll get ready for
the show. Okay, great, I have a kirk Cousins day
(12:02):
almost every day. One.
Speaker 4 (12:04):
It's not a bad way to be get a Coles
or a Marshall's.
Speaker 1 (12:06):
In and you've won, see you. I like Coles now?
Is that that's where you can return your stuff from Amazon,
whereas like if you order, but like I just did
the whole Amazon buy before you try, before you buy,
because I bought sneakers so you get like six pairs
of sneakers. You know, they get delivered to try them on. Like, Okay,
I like this pair these five. I don't bring him back.
How do you need to box them up? Like you
just bring them to Coles in the box in the
(12:27):
in the regular shoe box and they go, yep, okay,
got it, drink dnk dink, You're good, and they send
it right back for you. Cast for it. Yeah, you
get like a twenty here, come back in the next
three hours. Yeah, and use the guaranteed to see Rob
Parker there.
Speaker 3 (12:38):
Yeah, gotta figure out that next batch of Rob Parker
could also be at Panera getting refills on soaps.
Speaker 1 (12:48):
That could be that. H No, I get Kirk Cousin.
I have Kirk Cousins Days every day, man, It's it's
great Kirk Cousins Day. Today, I'm gonna go to Target.
I'm gonna go to TJ Max.
Speaker 4 (12:57):
I'm having a great day, a great day.
Speaker 1 (13:00):
Exit out about a Fresca exits wallendmees. Just understand, it's
not that the Chiefs are suddenly bad. Look, they're undefeated.
They're they're steaming their way to be in five and zero.
They're up sixteen seven, they're just instead of the traveling
road show. It's oh, this is not it's like this.
It's like if if a woman starts dating a guy
and he's so exciting right in high school, in college,
he was the most exciting guy out there. He was
(13:21):
a rock star. He played in a band, and he
comes out of school and he's so cool and they
always do all these great things. And then as you
get older, you get married, you have kids, and suddenly
he's working five days a week. Maybe he's an it guy,
and he's wearing dress shirts to work and and and
and Chino pants or something, and it's like they got
a nice, responsible haircut, and it's like, remember when you
(13:43):
were like that big rock star. He goes, yeah, well,
you know, I grew up now and I'm still I'm
successful and I'm doing well providing for my family. I'm
I'm just not the rock.
Speaker 6 (13:52):
Star, and.
Speaker 1 (13:55):
I just getting to your paces. I was twenty four
to twenty five. I had long hair, and I still
look smart because I wore glasses because I wanted to,
you know, make that work, because all glasses and long hair.
He's smart and he's good looking. Yeah, I want to
make that thing work. Uh, that's me. That's me.
Speaker 4 (14:08):
It sounds like you got a girl or two stoles.
Speaker 1 (14:11):
Oh no, no, I just knew. I just knew so many guys.
I'm like, I said, dude, do you really need glasses?
Speaker 4 (14:15):
Ah?
Speaker 1 (14:15):
Kind of nuts. I'm smart, but I have long hair.
Want to make sure you know that that that's I'm cool,
but I'm smart, So you know it's what I am.
Oh okay, I didn't have to advertise that like that,
that you were smart me. Yeah, did you ever have
long hair? I can't even picture you with long hair? No?
You kidding?
Speaker 3 (14:33):
If I thought going to the barber as a kid,
it was. It was a Woodeny spoon man.
Speaker 4 (14:40):
And man.
Speaker 1 (14:42):

Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with My best friend
Mike Harmon. Well, if you ever thought the NFL was scripted,
So Monday Night Football just does a feature on Kaylen
Saunders brother, right, Kalyn Saunders, who plays for the Saints,
And this is a feature that he's one of the
dancers on Taylor Swift the erasto. Hey, how cool is this?
(16:37):
Kaylen Saunders? Right? The next play at tipball at the
goal line and Kaylen Saunders picks it off and runs
it back to midfield. The Saints have the football at
midfield down sixteen to seven. The NFL is scripted. There's
no way, hey tell that story because Saunders has the
interception on the next play. Oh okay, great, how about that?
(16:59):
Huh Foster had it all figured out? Yeah, maybe he's right,
He's right.
Speaker 6 (17:03):
Uh.

We wind up doing tonight baseball playoffs and Week five
in the NFL. But yeah, I mean, if you ever
thought NFL was fixed, that's that's your one right there,
that's your thing, right there's.
Speaker 4 (17:41):
Your data point. Get that Wikipedia page up.
Speaker 1 (17:43):
Yeah, I mean listen. I mean the Chiefs throw the
same route on the goal line that the Seahawks through
for the interception against the Patriots, and it's a tip ball,
which it's it's it's really hard to throw a slant
on the goal line that way, and.
Speaker 3 (18:00):
You're throwing it with a like a ninety five mile
an hour heater like hiss, Dad.
Speaker 1 (18:04):
But it's tough, you know what I mean. Mahomes throws
it and it's just not it's just a little bit off,
not quite off. Still should be caught, but it bounces
off of Juju Smith Schuster and right to Saunders who
takes it back to midfield. And now the Saints are
in business and we have a game. They were going
in for the kill shot. It was gonna be over
to me twenty three to seven, and instead now we
have a game joining us now on the hot line.
(18:25):
Nobody better. Longtime NFL insider friend of the show. Check
them out on Odyssey one O five seven. The fan
in Baltimore, Washington post on Twitter at Jason Lock and
for it is Jason Lock and fora Jay, what's happening, Bun?
Speaker 6 (18:39):
What's going on? Gentlemen?
Speaker 1 (18:40):
Yeah, buddy, I'll tell you. You know, let's kick things off
of this game. Mike and I were talking about this
a few minutes ago. Is that, you know, watching the
Chiefs play and I think everybody's gonna kind of see
it tonight. The chief says, we know them as we
knew them for the past seven eight years, are dead
all right in place? Of the high octane traveling road show.
It's just it's just another really good football team with
(19:01):
a clutch quarterback. We have a lot of teams like that.
It's not a bad thing, but that that's kind of
what the Chiefs are now. They're just not what they were.
Speaker 6 (19:08):
No, I mean, they're doing it differently. Look, they still have,
for my money, Dave tob the best special teams coach
in the NFL. They've got a super clutch kicker, Steve
Spagnolo is a top five decordinator. Their biggest asset is,
despite them putting together what looks to be incredibly dynastic,
they've had no brain dream. You know. They moved off
to John Dorsey, they upgraded to Brett Beach. Andy Reid
(19:29):
runs the whole show, and he's BELICHICKI and in his
ability to handle you know, checks and balances on personnel
and coach the team and run the offense, and the
way that Belichick ran the defense, Spags is elite. They've
done a really good job of massing talent on that
side of the ball. And Andy Reid's at a point
(19:50):
in his career where he's not He's got nothing to
prove to anybody. So I'll just run the ball. This
kid steal fumbles, all right, then he'll be going next week.
I'll find somebody else, Kareem Hunt. We'll keep running with him.
He knows the shape of his skill positions right now.
He knows that his quarterback hasn't been good in the
red zone. And they're missing some pieces, like they don't
(20:10):
have a Jack McKinnon type who really unlocked things for
them in tight quarters. And they thought that would be
Kadarius Tony and it was And then they thought that
would be Hollywood Brown and he never got on the field,
and then you lose Rice on top of it, and
you're without Pacheco. So I think they understand what it
takes to win games. And they're not into style points
and they don't care if they cover or not. But
(20:31):
please keep going under, keep keep going under, keep going under.
And that's what they've become. They've become an under team.
They play games in the high thirties or low forties,
and the offense is good for twenty points. There was
a point in time where it was good for thirty
one or thirty four. That's that's just not it. And
you know, if they get a bunch of short fields
from the defense. Maybe, But you know, Mahomes is still
(20:52):
going to do a lot of exemplary things and they'll
make some big moves by the deadline, and then we'll say, but,
like I mean, I'm thinking about you know, the AFC
is like the better conference or whatever, and like, you know,
Baltimore's defenses is got awful, right, They've they've got the
second worst pass defense in the NFL, like the Bills, right,
(21:15):
the Bills. But what's happened to them the last two weeks?
And all of a sudden they don't have any wide
receivers and the offensive line is not performing quite as well,
and you know what's up with with Josh Allen's hand.
You know, Houston's won a really gutsy game last week,
But I think Houston's been uber conservative. I don't like
a lot of the things they're doing offensively. I'm not
sure they're special defensively. Puncil's a penalty machine, you know
(21:37):
what I mean. So you look at the field and
you're like, give me the Chiefs. You know, they win
every week by three points to five points.
Speaker 3 (21:44):
That's fine, doesn't have to be pretty. Succeed and proceed
as they say, so as you did four, Well that's the.
Speaker 6 (21:54):
Greatest offense, right The Bengals offense is nuts. It's an
efficiency munster and they're one and four. So who would
you rather be?
Speaker 3 (22:03):
Well, that's exactly where I was headed, right, You were
talking about games, you know, scoring thirty or keeping games
in the thirties. There we get seventy three points an
overtime thriller. But as bad as the Ravens defenses. They
you see the Bengals defense all season, Jason non existent.
After all of the plaudits and Laurel and Hardy crowns
(22:25):
that were thrown at the feet of an Aumo.
Speaker 6 (22:30):
Yeah, they're pretty broken right now. I mean they did
get their d tackles back, which was huge for that game.
And look, they stifled Baltimore. Design run games went nowhere
until the Derrick Henry backbreaker, you know in overtime. But
you know they got some things going in a scramble
game with Lamar, but design runs were going nowhere. They've
(22:51):
got major issues. I mean, the back end of that
defense is a mess. And then Dax's Hill have been
playing well for them and now he's out for the year.
Like it's clear that Anna Rumo doesn't trust his corners
and doesn't trust his safety, so he blitzed Lamar quite crazy.
And then you know, and back in the day you
could you could burn Lamar with the blitz, but Lamar
(23:11):
destroyed him when he blitzed, and he found his hots
and he'd throw it underneath the day flowers and he
took it out to a tight end and let get
yack that way, and and the Bengals had no CounterPunch. Now,
the Ravens offense is clearly elite, but Cincinnati had multiple
ten point leads and couldn't do anything to stop it.
(23:32):
They couldn't they couldn't mitigate Lamar Jackson. Yeah, they've got
real problems there. You scored that many points at home
and you can't win. And look the kickers. I mean,
there's a lot of things that's gone wrong for the Bengals,
but the bad exchange on the field goal. But yeah,
the defense is the defense, uh is is suspect. I mean,
(23:56):
it's just it's suspects.
Speaker 4 (23:58):
L Jay.
Speaker 1 (23:59):
Let's go to the Cowboys and the Steelers. Last night.
The Cowboys pull out a win at the end a
really rainy night in Pittsburgh was yesterday.
Speaker 6 (24:06):
More.
Speaker 1 (24:07):
Hey, I'm believing the Cowboys a little more. Or is
this boy the Steelers have more problems than we thought.
Speaker 6 (24:12):
Which is I think the Steelers are regressing. Yeah, I
mean I have to look. Dallas moved the ball some
but and they ran the ball in Pittsburgh way more
than I thought they could. But the Steelers defense, I
think is in trouble now. Patrick Queen looks pretty lost
without ro Kwan Smith. Not that the Ravens couldn't use
Patrick Queen back themselves, but because Rolcon Smith looks kind
of lost without Patrick Queen. But certainly Patrick Queen has
(24:34):
lost about Wilkwan Smith. Seemed like Watt spent more time
on the sidelines of that game than playing. He's banged up,
herbig has been a force of nature that looks like
the serious injury high Smith was already out. They couldn't
stop the run of a Dallas offensive line that hasn't
been special and backs that we know, you know in
Zeke and Dattle, who aren't special, and yet they moved
(24:57):
the ball at will. And if Dak had you know,
not made horror horrible decisions, they probably would have blown Pittsburgh.
Galt I don't know what Arthur Smith is up to.
I mean, Justin Field should have ran the aball fifteen
times in that game he ran a five. I mean,
I don't know what the hell they were thinking. I mean, okay,
you don't have Cornwall Patterson, you could still play some
option football. There was a way for them, I think,
(25:20):
to control the ball. So yeah, I think there's major
questions to be asked about the Steelers. I don't buy
the Cowboys. I don't think the special and offensive line
or defensive line. City Land doesn't seem to be having
a whole lot of fun. I'm not a big Zimmer
guy at this stage of his career. They're a middling team,
and I think that's you know, that's going to mean
(25:42):
you beat some teams who are a little lesser talented
than you, and you really don't beat anybody who's more
talented to you. And there's a lot of teams that
are more talented you them.
Speaker 4 (25:51):
Is that how you would describe the forty nine ers?
Speaker 1 (25:53):
Upper middling? With no? Christian mccaff I.
Speaker 6 (25:57):
Would have liked anything I heard coming out of them
since they lost that Super Bowl. Just the vibes everything
about them has given me pause, and they go apart
pretty significantly the last time they lost the Super Bowl.
Now we can talk about Jimmy g get hurt and
all that, but I just haven't bought what they're selling
(26:17):
really all summer, and I thought the absences about UK
and Trent Williams as long as it went. Brought about
this to the Washington Post, talked to people around the
league who watched them in the preseason, like, you know,
what is this year going to be like for Rock
Purty and his get paid year? What if the offensive
line is even worse than last year? And what if
Trent Williams is you know, hits the wall. And what
if McCaffrey gets hurt because it's been a lost he
(26:38):
got hurt. A wht of those chickens have come home
to roost. They're still a good football team. I didn't
think the remaining like last year's year. I didn't think
they were going to win that division. Now I thought
the Rams would have, and the Rams have been decimated
by injury, and you know, what are the Seahawks and
what are the Cardinals? So maybe it all comes back
around to San Francisco, But I think the issues there
(27:00):
run deeper than just you know, a few guys being hurt.
I think that the way they lost that Super Bowl
and the way they have yet to sort of reach
their manifest destiny and how many more years are left
with that group, I just think they're in transition, and
rather than address it themselves, they kind of tried to
(27:22):
run it back. And I think a year older is
not going to be a year better for a lot
of them, all right.
Speaker 1 (27:27):
Jay, Lastly, when you look at what's next for DeVante Adams,
the Raiders say, hey, status quo for this week, missing
games because of his his injury, as he's on the
trading block, how does this end? When does this end
for Davante Adams?
Speaker 6 (27:40):
Oh, I think it could happen this week, and you know,
even the hamstring, like could he play for somebody else
this week? I wouldn't rule it out. I mean the
trade would have to be made pretty early in the week,
but you know it's going to happen. They're going to
hold out and hope that the Jets do something that
absolutely he leaps, you know, leaps the field or laps
(28:03):
the field, and short of that, I think they'll make
a decision by the end of the week to take
whatever they think is the best deal on the table. Uh.
But the fact that the Jets are Jets in as
much as they are right there, what's the rush if
you're you know what I mean, the Raiders, Like you've
already dealt with the distraction. Everybody knows he's going to
be gone. Like, he's not in your plans. You don't
(28:25):
care what he does at practice. He's got this injury
that you can nurse. So I really think it's about,
you know, does Woody Johnson do something as dumb as
what he did to get Aaron Rodgers in the first place.
Speaker 1 (28:38):
He's on Twitter at Jason lock and for that is
at Jason lock And for a Washington Post Odyssey one
oh five seven. The Fan in Baltimore working on a
ten thousand word piece on the NFL prospects of Syracuse's
Kyle mccordy jays. Looking forward to seeing that when it
comes out.
Speaker 6 (28:53):
Fawn out in the desert.
Speaker 1 (28:54):
Yeah, take it easy, buddy, We'll talk to you. Jason Lock.
And now let me tell you this really quick about
the Jets. Right, all the stuff going on with Rogers
everything else, let me tell you something. Next Monday, the
Jets play the Bills. Yeah, that is high noon for
the Jets season. Because if the Jets have another bad game,
(29:15):
all right, there'll be two and four, there'll be two
games out of first place. Right they win their tied
for first place, well, because the division is awful, but
if they have another bad we will offensively. On Monday night,
a couple of things are gonna happen. They will trade
for DeVante Adams and either Robert Sala or Nathaniel Hackett
or both of them will get let go, probably Hackett
(29:36):
because you're worried about the offense, and because Aaron Rodgers
has already made it about Hey, he's already being very
vocal about he doesn't like things with the offense, which okay,
I understand that. So it's kind of Rogers versus the
offense to this place much. He likes Nathaniel Hackett. But
Monday is high noon. Rubber hits the road. Either the
Jets they do something this week because the offense is
terrible and I watch it and it's very predictable, and
(29:58):
they try to do the same thing. We're going to
establish the running game, and it's the same patterns. Who
are it's the same everything. There's no creativity, there's no
little bit something different. Here's a lot to get to
it that goes deeper.
Speaker 3 (30:13):
But just in terms of timing with any of these
guys outside of the lazard, it's so something's got to change.
Speaker 4 (30:20):
He catches that ball, oh.
Speaker 1 (30:22):
Yeah, yeah, you get yeah, exactly different. And if somehow,
if somehow, Quincy Williams stays upright and says Sam Donald
getting a finger on him and he falls down, that's
a that's a pick six. You know, that's a fumble
return for touch.
Speaker 4 (30:35):
Donald's an incredible force, Are you kidding?
Speaker 1 (30:38):
Sam? Same Donald came back to v same Donald came
back to Earth yesterday. Ante he was they went, but
not because of him. There was not one There was
not one minute in that game yesterday where I said
Sam Donald's gonna beat us. There's no, He's not the checkout.
What did I say? After four weeks, that's when you
get a lot of tape on a quarterback. And what
(30:59):
happened it was just okay. You know what I'm saying
is you're now you're gonna start seeing Sam Darnald come
back to the pack, and after four weeks you start
seeing it, right, But still we ate, right, we much
as we make fun of the Jets, because let's face it,
it's good for America and it's good for the soul
in troubling times, is that their defense is still still
(31:19):
pretty decent. Yeah, right, So Sam Donald having a middling game,
as we said he would in all our fantasy uh
ponderance over the course of the the.
Speaker 3 (31:30):
Last few days. That wasn't a surprise. I mean that
that fell in line. There are actually more points in
that game than they thought there would be.
Speaker 1 (31:39):
Exit outbout a Fresco exit Swallen Dome, trust me. Next
Monday is high noon for the Jets.
Speaker 4 (31:44):
And we'll be here on Fox Sports Radio chronicling it all.
Speaker 1 (31:48):
Right now, the guy who lost the first draw to
Gary Cooper to get knocked out in the semi finals.
Before high noon, it's Steve de Sager with what's trending
in the wide world of sports.
Speaker 7 (31:57):
Yeah, but I got Grace Kelly, so who cares?
Speaker 5 (31:59):
No?
Speaker 1 (31:59):
Yeah, yeah, you just lets go look at that seem
to singer really is.
Speaker 4 (32:06):
That was brilliant. He's doing this update for Monaco.
Speaker 7 (32:10):
Prince of Monico, the four and oh Chiefs. By the way,
an offense not so Kingley if you've pointed out up
sixteen thirteen over the Saints early fourth quarter. But we
must mention once again the defensive tackle Kaylin Saunders of
New Orleans and his brother because the story was mentioned
on Monday Night Football. His brother is a professional dancer
(32:30):
and choreographer backup dancer for Taylor Swift's eras Tour. Taylor
Swift is there at the game tonight in Kansas City.
They tell the story, show photos. Next play goal line
interception by the defensive tackle who rumbles out of the
end zone about thirty five yards the other way. In fact,
next Gen Stats clocked him at a top speed of
(32:52):
about fifteen miles an hour on the interception return, which
for a ball carrier who weighs over three hundred and
twenty pounds, is one of the faster speeds they have
clocked in the past decade. So and turnover by Mahomes.
Patrick Mahomes has a streak now of ten straight regular
season games with at least one turnover, longest for any
Chiefs player since at least nineteen ninety one. So he
(33:14):
has three hundred three yards passing. We're just starting the
fourth quarter opportunity after opportunity for KC, and the lead
is only sixteen thirteen against New Orleans three short field
goals in the first half for Harrison Bucker. I mentioned
the goal line interception as well. By the way, Juju
Smith Schuster is the lead receiver for Kansas City tonight,
(33:35):
six receptions, one hundred and seventeen yards the star receiver
receive and one deflection and one bad deflection that turned into,
of course, the star receiver. Rashid Rice Court's not there
and expected to have his season over, according to NFL
media due to his knee ligament injury surgery coming for
him tomorrow. Texans wide receiver Nico Collins is called week
(33:57):
to week with a hamstring injury. He's leading the league
in receiving yards. Houston running back Joe Mixon has been
out since Week two with the bad ankle after the
hip drop tackle. Forty nine Ers kicker Jake Moody will
miss a few weeks with a high ankle sprain. The
Tampa Bay Bucks will fly to New Orleans tomorrow instead
of Saturday, ahead of Florida's next hurricane. Tampa Bay plays
(34:17):
this Sunday at New Orleans. The SEC Conference find Vanderbilt
one hundred thousand dollars because its fans storm the field
after beating Alabama over the weekend. Arkansas was fined two
hundred and fifty thousand dollars for a similar thing. They
are a two time offender, you see. Number one ranked
Texas expects quarterback Quinn Ewers to start against rival Oklahoma
(34:38):
on Saturday after an oblique injury. The WNBA is off
the semifinals and tomorrow in the Al Division Series. The
Yankees have homered. The lead is for to two Kansas
City at Yankee Stadium. The game is in the bottom
of the ninth and no outs. Casey trying to even
up the best of five at a game of piece.
Detroit's tied at a game apiece after somehow winning at Cleveland.
(34:59):
The game was Gorles's top of the ninth. Closer Emmanuel
Classe best in baseball, was on two two out singles
and then a three run homer from Kerry Carpenter. The
Tigers win it after dropping a seven nothing decision in
the opener. In fact, in that game, they were down
five to nothing before they even got an out, and
they're going home tied at a game apiece. The NL
(35:21):
Division series each continue tomorrow on FS one five pm
Eastern time. The Mets host the Phillies, tied at a
game apiece. That'll be Sean and I against pitcher Aaron Nola.
Nine pm Eastern time on FS one, Dodgers at Padres,
tied at a game apiece. Dodger pitcher Walker Bueller will
start against San Diego's Michael King. Update from the football
(35:42):
Xavior Worthy a three yard touchdown run. Jeems lead now
twenty three thirteen over the Saints, about twelve minutes to
go in the game.
Speaker 1 (35:50):
Back to you, Thank you, Steve O. The Jason Smith
Show with my best friend Mike Carmen live from the
Tirack dot Com Studios. Coming up next, we'll have more
football on the way Baseball playoffs, but you will meet
the new sports villain, the team you didn't know you
wanted to hate, but you will love hating them.
Speaker 4 (36:09):
Oh, let's go.
Speaker 1 (36:09):
That's next Jason and Mike Fox.
Speaker 2 (36:13):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern seven
pm Pacific.
Speaker 1 (36:21):
Fox Sports Radio. The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Harmon. Chiefs Up twenty three to thirteen over
the Saints ten minutes to go in the fourth quarter.
We'll have more in this game coming up in a
few minutes. But as we said a few minutes ago, look,
sports is always better when you have villains, of course,
and now, boy do we have the villains that the
(36:43):
Major League Baseball Playoffs has absolutely needed because filling that
role very nicely are the San Diego Padres. They have
just bega, you know what, Hey, We're okay, that's gonna
be our identity will be the villains.
Speaker 3 (36:55):
Do you think they watch Monday Night Raw or ed
XT or SmackDown as a group and trying to figure
out which heel they can grab little pieces from the
hip thrust and Jes shows well.
Speaker 1 (37:09):
Definitely for Nanois Junior because he was doing the hip
thrust at the.
Speaker 4 (37:15):
Moves right there.
Speaker 1 (37:16):
I mean, look, you saw yesterday the big story coming
off of Game two with the Padres and the Dodgers
fans throwing baseballs on the field of jerks and profar
and left field because uh, he snagged a home run
away from Mookie Betts early in the game, pretended he
didn't have the ball really egged on the Dodgers fans,
fans not happy they threw a couple of base balls
(37:37):
at him. For Nano Tatis is thrust h thrusting his
hips at the fans in the right field. I feel
like it's nineteen fifties Elvis. We can't show him from
the waist down. He's thrusting his hips at the camera.
So he's doing that, and then the teams are on
the field trying to figure things out. It's a crazy
ass scene. And then there's many Machado part of it,
which has now gotten even more interesting because part of
(37:59):
what was up yesterday with this whole thing, yeah, Profar,
you have to tease. And now Machado gets involved. He
was upset when Jack Flaherty threw and hit Fernando Tatist Junior.
And part of what's going on with Manny Machado is
that the Dodgers saying Machado threw a baseball into the
dugout at Dave Roberts, like in the middle of the inning,
when the inning was done, he threw the ball into
(38:21):
the dugout and it was thrown at Dave Roberts, and
the Dodgers brought this up, and that's what they were
really pissed about. Machado says, I throw the ball into
the dugout all the time. At the end of the day,
I don't know what they're talking about. The Dodgers said, no,
if it was just a chucking the ball and to
the dugout, we would have said it would be okay.
But this was throwing the ball right at Dave Roberts.
The Dodgers have sent this video to Major League Baseball
(38:42):
for them to look at when it comes for to
Manny Machado and what went on during this game. The
Padres have simply decided we're gonna be the villains and
we're okay with criminals, all right, because they know a
couple of things. One, it's an identity that pulls you together,
and in a long baseball playoff, you need everybody needs
an identity at works. Hey will be the villains. It's
(39:03):
absolutely fine. But two, and here's a more important thing.
They know it gets under the Dodgers skin. They know
they get to the Dodgers, and the Dodgers are now
all the crazy stuff that you normally see. Flaherty is
throwing at people. He's yelling at Manny Machaud and the
Dodger talking to Major League Baseball. They're mad, the fans
are mad. They can get under the Dodgers' skin, and
this is part of their strategy because they know, hey,
(39:24):
if we're gonna pull this upset, we need everything going
for us. And this is a strategy that works because
the Dodgers are completely Now they're fighting, they're playing the game,
and now they're fighting this battle too. And with video
going to Major League Baseball, the padre's saying, hey, our
strategy is working to a t. Right now we have
figured everything out well.
Speaker 3 (39:41):
And you also had the Dodgers now have to answer
for the couple of idiotic fans, right, so you have
that part of it. The equation that comes in as well,
of all right, you've got what fifty seven hundred or
whatever people that go and and just attend the game.
They move aciferously, maybe they make some hand jest, but
that's the end of it. Instead, you got videotape of
(40:03):
plenty of folks chucking balls whatever that just and water
bottles and the like. You got fights in the parking lots.
It becomes this whole other mythology that takes away from
anything this organization has been which has been sullied by
some of the fighting in the in the parking lots
and incidents in the past. But now it's front and
(40:26):
center because you've got quote unquote little brother poking the
bear and not responding quite so well. And when you've
already got a team that has a lot of questions
from the starting pitching getting through all the bullpen stuff,
Mookie Bets finally had a hit part of like the
red Sea and.
Speaker 4 (40:43):
Left field, what are we doing?
Speaker 1 (40:44):
Now?
Speaker 4 (40:45):
Where are you? That's where you stand strong. You've got
to create a wall and make that hard. Nah here, sir.
Speaker 1 (40:52):
That's why I told you the Padres are the last
team the Dodgers wanted to play in the playoffs, criminals
because all the emotion, all the all the the intangibles
the Padres want to use is not one hundred and
sixty two game strategy that works, but it's a playoff
strategy that works, and it is working to a t
for them. Right.
Speaker 3 (41:10):
You match up really well as it is. And now
you take this just a little percentage over.
Speaker 2 (41:16):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (41:16):
We'll have more on this story and another big story
out of the NFL coming up next. Even right here,
Jason and Mike you are listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Somewhere in the middle body, uh, because well listen if
you're saying upper body is above the hips, lower body
below the hips. But it looked like it was definitely
(41:37):
a middle body shot, like somewhere in the in the
in the greater uh, in the solar plexus area, the
solar plexus. Anytime we get a little gorilla, it's good
for the show. The lateral collateral area of the back. Sure, yeah, okay,
that was what the the lateral collateral area. Oh yeah,
very good. So but he looks he walked off under
(41:58):
his own power. He was obviously accompanied by medical personnel.
But Derek Carr walking off seemingly under his own power.
So the Saints will have to navigate this one with
Archie Manning at quarterback the rest of the way again,
just under six minutes left to go and the Chiefs
with a ten point lead and the football. You couldn't
go Drew Brees. You had to go all the way
to Archie. Well, Drew Brees is sitting on hold waiting
(42:19):
to talk to us. Yeah, I mean she will be
continuing for years now. I think Archie Manning was more fun.
People got to listen to the thousand plus shows.
Speaker 4 (42:27):
I get that.
Speaker 1 (42:28):
I gotta explain the millennials to Archie Manning.
Speaker 3 (42:30):
Yeah, Archie was, I mean, the old man was actually
the hell of a quarterback because the team's stunk.
Speaker 1 (42:38):
Yeah, Archie Manning. Who's Archie Manning? Okay, so you know
who arch Manning is?
Speaker 6 (42:43):
Now?
Speaker 1 (42:44):
Do you know who Peyton Manning is? Yeah? Okay. Archie
Manning is Peyton Manning and Eli Manning's dad. Oh okay,
and arch Manning is Peyton Manning and Eli Manning's kid,
both of the No, he's their nephew. Okay, yeah, it's
all part of the Manning family, his son Upper. Well,
here's the thing. No, Copper Manning is the Manning brother
(43:05):
we don't talk about. He's not the family.
Speaker 7 (43:09):
He's kind of like like you know how the Jonah's brothers,
like Kevin Nick and then Joe.
Speaker 1 (43:14):
Oh yeah, they have their little brother.
Speaker 4 (43:16):
Frankie is.
Speaker 1 (43:16):
Yeah, Frankie's one. They don't talk. Yeah, they don't yet.
Copper wasn't a quarterback. It was we didn't talk about Bruno. No, no, no, Coupper.
But when you're not a quarterback, he doesn't get invited
to Thanksgiving there's no family events. He gets you. He's
not a quarterback, but being Arch's dad, maybe this will
allow him back into the family. I'm hoping.
Speaker 3 (43:35):
I met a Copper's had a full decade on Fox
and the Road to the super Bowl, but he's.
Speaker 1 (43:40):
Not on the I don't see him on the Manning cast.
It's Peyton and Eli. What about his other brother, he's
on the other network. Yeah, but i mean, come on,
they have other people on that all the time. They're
gonna tell them Mannings, you can't have your brother on.
Speaker 3 (43:51):
Come on, get that free guests. One of them was
always Belichick. Come on, so you're rotating the other two?
Today was super Fan looking young again. Rud Yeah, that's
haircut and a shave and oh yeah, every everybody.
Speaker 1 (44:08):
Everyone of the Chiefs game tonight wearing wearing Chiefs jerseys
and and and Royals hats, Like look at this, I'm
Rob mclaney, I'm wearing everything. Do you think chiefs Aholic
was watching either one of these games tonight?
Speaker 4 (44:21):
They smuggl a well if they smuggle.
Speaker 1 (44:23):
A TV in oils and the chief song, yeah, well
I'm sure that's on. I'm sure they're watching that in
the in the community room. I'm sure that's what you get. Yeah,
what else do you just to a community room? I'm
sure they all. Yeah, of all the TV shows I watched,
there's always a community room, there's always community room. Yeah.
You think they show you what it really looks like
on TV? You mean that's not what I've seen that
(44:46):
the community room? Yeah, they did. That was the last
great community where I saw was in Logan Lucky when
they you know, they took the room hostage because they
they wouldn't show the new the new Game of Thrones.
We want new Game of Thrones books. Uh, they the
books haven't been written yet. The TV show has moved
past the books. They don't know. George RR.
Speaker 4 (45:05):
Martin hasn't written another book yet.
Speaker 5 (45:07):
It's okay, what's next? You're gonna tell me? He's on
fan duel doing the fifteen leg parla.
Speaker 1 (45:11):
No, no, no. George R. Martin's a big Jets fan.
He's got a lot on his plate right now. He
and I both have a lot of Northwestern Yeah, yeah,
mister Martin. Oh, hey, speaking Northwestern grad's congratulations to Boo
Booie just signed by the Nick. He's gonna be in
the NBA finals this year. Cheer for the NIX A
little boo boo man, my guy.
Speaker 3 (45:30):
Yeah, yeah, it's gonna be hard NBA Finals.
Speaker 1 (45:35):
Just think about that. If someone said to Boo Booi
when he's getting shut down in the NCA tournament, Hey,
don't worry about it. In a few months, you're gonna
be on a team that's going to the NBA Finalsaltic. Hey,
you know what they were at least in the NC double.
That was good.
Speaker 6 (45:46):
That was good.
Speaker 1 (45:47):
That was good. But you know, for not making it
for like fifty years, you've made it now like twice
in the last ten or something like that. Okay, that's
pretty good, pretty good legacy right there. Uh So, anyway,
right now, the road begins with the first steps show uh,
Chiefs with the lee, then the football. Now three minutes
left to go, they'll be kicking a field goal, most
likely on fourth down, to go up twenty six thirteen
if Butcker makes Remember he missed one a few minutes ago.
(46:10):
So this looks like the Chiefs have it in hand.
But we will bring you more on this coming up
a little bit now. A few minutes ago, we talked
about the the Padres Dodgers and this big war going
on right now. That is just insanely complicated and for
many many a case, it's pretty fun. It's it's complicated
and simple at the same time. Yeah, coming off of
the game last night, you saw there were many instances
(46:31):
where the Padres uh instigated issues with the Dodger crowd.
Then the Dodger crowded out of control throwing baseballs at
the guys on the field. The Dodgers are upset that
Manny Machado threw a baseball into the dugout between innings
that was thrown at Dave Roberts UH and the Dodgers
sent this video to Major League Baseball. Now, I want
to say two more things about this. As we know
(46:53):
that the Padres are the villains that the Baseball Playoffs need,
someone asked has got to be the Angels doesn't want
to be the villain anymore.
Speaker 4 (47:02):
And they haven't won in forever and they lost to
the Royal.
Speaker 3 (47:07):
St Yeah that stuff. So h oh no, no, no,
we're going to do that in a couple of minutes. Yeah,
craft the proper message.
Speaker 1 (47:14):
To But let me just say a couple of things
about the Padres. Yes, they're embracing the role of villains
because this is something that does bring the team together. Hey,
this is who we are and when you need a
motion in the playoffs. It's been a long season. This works,
but mainly they know what gets under the Dodgers skin.
And now the Dodgers are focused on crazy ass things.
You got Jack Flaherty is throwing at guys and the
(47:34):
Dodgers are complaining, and they sent video of the Machado
throwed a major league baseball and Dave Roberts is talking
about it, saying, oh, we think it was on purpose.
I mean, this is not what the Dodgers do. But
the Padres get under their skin and this strategy is
working to perfection. Now, two things about this, I'll say
one pro Padres and one and one anti Padres. Kind
of you and I have seen the play now because
(47:56):
it's just gotten out there. Throw the ball with the dugout.
This is not Manny Machado throwing a laser at Dave Roberts.
Is this him talking about? Is this?
Speaker 4 (48:06):
But that's the way it's gonna be portrayed. He threw
a ball at day out.
Speaker 1 (48:10):
What happened was the last warm up pitch of the
inning was in the dirt, so obviously the pitcher gets
a new ball to start the inning, and Machado's just
throwing it off the field. Now, is he being a
little bit of a jerk throwing the ball to the
dugout in the middle of the dugout. Yes, he's being
a bit of a jerk doing that. It's a move.
He's question he didn't grab the ball and slide to
(48:31):
his left and look for the opening and pointed Dave
Roberts and then throw a laser in there.
Speaker 4 (48:34):
No, you get Dodger w rench, you get dodge.
Speaker 1 (48:36):
A ball, Robert. There was. It was more a bit
of gamesmanship than anything else. In disrespect. It was the
Dodgers are over the top with this now, and they
got to realize, let's just get back to playing baseball
because it's playing into the padres hands. Dave Roberts calling
it unset. Yeah, I know, I know. The Dodgers are insane.
He didn't even notice it.
Speaker 4 (48:55):
The Dodgers are insane.
Speaker 3 (49:01):
He goes, well, I didn't notice it, and then he
comes right back because.
Speaker 1 (49:04):
I don't know that it hit them right now, right,
But Machado knows that he Machado's he's being an instigator.
Speaker 6 (49:13):
Smart.
Speaker 1 (49:13):
I think, well, if he wasn't, I mean, if he was,
if he really gunned win the dugout, then okay, then
you would say, okay, man, he's not smart. No, but
he knows if I just chuck this ball towards the
doug it's a chippy game, and I'm just gonna chuck
it towards the dugout and just do it to be
a jerk and to get under their skin a little bit.
And it worked. Right. Baseball is not gonna come back
and say, oh, this is awf it's the worst thing
many machadda's spend it. No, it's not. This is gamesmanship
(49:36):
and it's working.
Speaker 3 (49:37):
There's gonna be a five page missing based on this
game from Major League base I mean, this game.
Speaker 1 (49:42):
Is just I mean, this is it starts. It's overwhelming
the week that was in the NFL. But the other
part I'm gonna say is this is that. And let
me start off by saying fans should not obviously, don't
throw baseballs of people, don't throw stuff at fans at players.
Don't do it right, that's an awful thing. They should
be taken out of the game. They should be banned
from a stadium, don't do it. But if I but
(50:04):
if I was Mike Schilt, this is what I would
tell tell the guys because I think we're being fair.
Is like, guys, don't antagonize the fans because it's something
that might not end well for us. Don't antagonize the
fans because you don't know what's going to happen. It's
the same philosophy of if you're if someone's road raging
with you, do you should you go up and engage them. No,
(50:25):
you don't know who they are. You don't know what
they're gonna do. You should be able to if a
guy cuts you off in traffic and and and doesn't
signal and flips you off whatever, do you have every
right to confront that person? Yeah, because they did something
to you. But you don't know who they are. You
don't know how that's gonna go. Right, How do you
think it's gonna go? If you are profar and you
are doing all kinds of stuff and and and teasing
(50:46):
them with the ball on the on the home run
you saved, what do you think is gonna happen the
next time you go go to the wall for a ball? Right?
What do you think's gonna happen. People are gonna throw stuff
at you. Right, what do you if you're Fernando Tatist
Junior and you're just swiveling your hips the Dodger fans,
what do you think is gonna happen? Just and it's
I'm not saying this excuses anybody, because, like what did
I say in the beginning, fans who do that, you're
thrown out of the stadium. You're not allowed to come
(51:07):
back in, right, can't do it. But you have to
be realistic and know that if I antagonize these fans,
I don't know what's gonna happen. So just be smart
because you don't know when a ball is gonna hit
you in the head or a battery is gonna hit yours.
Something's gonna happen. And it's just not a Dodger I
think it's anything else. If you go into another team's
ballpark in the playoffs and you antagonize the fans that
are sitting behind you, you don't do that. I mean that.
(51:30):
That's what I would say is hopefully say, listen, guys,
whatever goes on between the white lines. If we're upset
about the Dodgers and they throw it to tease and
we're upset about what's going on. We talk about otania. Okay,
that that's one thing, but this is like, guys, just
be smart here, Okay, just be smart.
Speaker 3 (51:44):
It goes back to the general life philosophy, whatever you're
always taught as a kid growing up. Hey, keep it simple,
stupid or sweetheart, if they wanted to be a little
nicer about now, keep it simple stupid as bad, but
stupid kind of works and certainly more appropriate in this situation.
Speaker 1 (51:58):
Sweetheart's very patronizing. That's very patronized. It just keep it simple, stupid.
It's more insulting, but I get it, or was a
termini of endearment. It's all a question of where we're
coming from. Are we already a bit of an antagonistic state?
A stupid No, it's like, okay, you're gonna so much stupid.
Speaker 3 (52:15):
You're gonna sing it like Alice Cooper and you're gonna
be done with it.
Speaker 1 (52:18):
Hey, hey, sweetheart, that's not how the song goes.
Speaker 3 (52:23):
Sure, yeah, change it that way. But it's the idea
of why complicate matters to your point about road rage
or anything you're doing right, you go through your paces
of your every normal, everyday life.
Speaker 4 (52:37):
Like you have your rhythms, you have your rigation.
Speaker 3 (52:39):
When you start adding other elements to what happens, it
complicates things.
Speaker 4 (52:43):
Your schedule gets thrown out of whack.
Speaker 3 (52:44):
Now you maybe your mood goes, and then you take
that into your workplace. You can take that home and
who knows what extrapolates from there. Likewise, here I get it,
the little little hip shake whatever, it shouldn't be an issue.
But guess what this was already charged going in. This
is a rivalry if you want to use that term.
Speaker 1 (53:04):
Some do.
Speaker 3 (53:04):
Some think it's it's it's a bad term for where
we're at. But hey, the Padres won the round a
couple of years ago.
Speaker 4 (53:11):
So you've got the.
Speaker 3 (53:13):
The little Brother syndrome, as Dodger fans like to portray it.
You had the idea of, hey, here's the specifications and
the restrictions on buying tickets down at Petgo Park to
keep the unruly Dodger fans out.
Speaker 4 (53:30):
And what do you got?
Speaker 3 (53:31):
All sorts of videos of people fighting in the parking lots,
people chucking baseballs and water bottles. It just exacerbated again,
remove variables from your life and the algorithm as you can.
Speaker 1 (53:42):
Yeah, don't and it's not it's not don't be stupid,
it's it's okay, understand that. I get you're having fun
out there and we're getting under the Dodger skin, but
you're putting yourself position where something can happen to you
and you can't prevent it.
Speaker 3 (53:58):
It's almost fifty one thousand, and people are there's one
bad actor.
Speaker 1 (54:02):
Oh jerks, everybody. It's everybody in the right field stands.
It's everybody. And I'm not saying every Dodger fan is bad, right,
but all you need is one fan to get mad,
and we had a couple of fans.
Speaker 3 (54:14):
But it paints the whole thing like I was having
a conversation walking my dog with the neighbor and he'd
seen a headline about one of.
Speaker 1 (54:21):
The That's what I thought he was saying. But he
did get neighbor in there, so it's not him. We did.
Speaker 3 (54:29):
The dog was highly interested, But I said, who do
you think the greatest baseball player is of all time?
Speaker 1 (54:34):
My dog said Ruf Mark twice, if it's Griffy.
Speaker 3 (54:38):
At the White Sox Hall of Famer for the White Sox,
Ken grif Hey, who is.
Speaker 1 (54:43):
That guy that played right field for the Mariners White
Sox in the seventies, Phil what was Phil's last name? Ruf.
Speaker 3 (54:50):
The point is he brought up the the story of
the latest NFL player who'd run a book and run
a fowl of the law, and and he goes, how
many guys is that really? I go, it's really actually
a small percentage, He goes, because the way they do
it on the news makes it seem like, oh, throw
a bunch of drums, like right, So it's the same
(55:10):
thing here. It becomes a much bigger speech about oh,
those Dodger fans when it's two idiots or five idiots
or whatever that full number.
Speaker 1 (55:20):
This was not that game from the nineties when Lesorda
got mad and I think that was the last ball
night in Major League Baseball when Losorda came out to
argue a really bad call and the fans all through
the baseballs on the field, and I think that was
the last game that was called. That was that was
it was ended. Is that we're not playing the rest
of the game because everything was out of conference.
Speaker 3 (55:40):
So now when if they want to do a giveaway
like that, you get a slip going in and you
get I.
Speaker 1 (55:46):
Remember when they used to give the big bats up, well,
we had full sized bats. I had an Eric Solder
home growing up.
Speaker 4 (55:51):
It was great.
Speaker 1 (55:52):
What could possibly go wrong to give out back to
the side of Chicago. Let's go for a long time.
You know, for a long time that was okay. And
not anymore.
Speaker 4 (56:01):
You can't even give the mini bats anymore.
Speaker 1 (56:04):
No is it a mini bat? Is it a mini
batia meani bat?
Speaker 6 (56:08):
No?
Speaker 1 (56:09):
Come on, I just say we should come on, give
me a got ner Nerve, Scott. We're gonna have to
put him in some kind of contraption. I'm gonna leave
and then see what happens after that. Come on, Scott, No,
come on, we can just kill him right now.
Speaker 4 (56:18):
Go to my room. I got a gun in my room.
Speaker 1 (56:19):
I go get it. No nerve, Scott, Gott. You don't understand.
We're not gonna do it that way. Scott,
