Speaker 1 (00:26):
Greetings, Welcome inside, Happy Friday, The Jason Smith Show with
my best friend Mike Harmon.
Speaker 3 (00:33):
What's going on?
Speaker 1 (00:33):
Brother Live from the Tirack dot Com studios tirec dot Com.
Speaker 4 (00:37):
I hope you get there.
Speaker 1 (00:38):
An unmatched selection, fast, free shipping, free road hazard protection,
and over ten thousand recommended installers. Tirac dot Com is
the way tire buying should be. Well, here we are
in a big Friday night, getting into a big football weekend.
Dodgers had their big parade today. Keith k Hernandez is
the superstar of that parade and it's kind of a
(01:01):
nice little Okay, now all the baseball is over, we're
into the off season, and now it's okay. We're in
the beginning of November and football can take over again,
we had an unbelievable MLB playoffs and now okay, everyt
not tipping the cap, and now it's football.
Speaker 5 (01:17):
But I want to know from that parade how much
time over the course of the year do those guys
sit around as a group and watch wrestling promos? Because
every guy, once he got the mic, was walking around
like he was in the center of the ring.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
And I gotta tell you, hey, pellyed.
Speaker 5 (01:35):
These teams, you know, those guys in New York, you know,
and they start smack talking and talking about their families
and whatever else, getting them the curse. And just one
guy after another, Clayton Kershaw, I didn't do anything.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
But thanks for having me. This is great.
Speaker 5 (01:53):
I mean, just one guy after another and they asked
him a two million people, Jason two million. I'm glad
I had to. I didn't have any business downtown today.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
Well, I will say I think, I think, and I'm
gonna go out on a limb by saying this, and
this is a really hot take.
Speaker 4 (02:06):
I think that alcohol. I think that alcohol helps.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
I think in a situation like that, your inhibitions go
away a little bit, and I'm pretty sure it helps.
Speaker 4 (02:15):
I'm just going by experience. I think that helps a
little bit.
Speaker 5 (02:19):
Well, tall and bullet bulletproof, no question, the inebriation.
Speaker 3 (02:23):
I mean it allows you to speak in foreign tongues.
Speaker 4 (02:26):
Sure, you could say whatever you want.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
Look show how Tani brought decoy to the parade and
Clayton Kershaw was emotional. He would you know, he went
out of his way to say I had nothing to
do with this, but it's just so exciting.
Speaker 4 (02:38):
I'm just happy to be here.
Speaker 1 (02:39):
But when we say, Key a Hernandez won the day,
Key a Hernandez won the day. The Dodger center fielder
who had his shirt off during the parade and then
decided to enthrall the fans at Dodger Stadium, getting them
all to say the F word as one, which was
pretty which is you know, it's a pretty big accomplishment.
Speaker 3 (02:56):
Stole it straight from Steve Steve Austin.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
But we all know why, right, why we won because
we don't give a blank. And then he decided, well
it's not enough to we beat the Yankees. I'm gonna
go after Fat Joe ice Cube was there today, did
a rendition of it was a good day. Uh, you
know his performance before Game one of the of the
World Series, and then the Yankees answered with Fat Joe,
a performance and on social media was to be kind
(03:22):
widely panned, and uh Kei k Hernandez decided to you know,
I'm I can't let this go. I can't go gently
into the good night of the offseason winning the World
Series without letting people know just what I thought about
the Fat Joe performance. When we played in New York.
Here's key Y Hernandez from earlier today. Then we got
to New York in this guy he used.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
To be fat, he's not fat anymore.
Speaker 6 (03:45):
His name is Joe.
Speaker 4 (03:50):
He can't sad.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
And guess why we didn't even need to play because
after that performance.
Speaker 3 (03:56):
We had already won.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
We didn't need to play because after we watched Fat
Joe rap, we knew it was over.
Speaker 4 (04:05):
Do we even need to play? Do we we need
to come out? Okay, we'll come.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
We'll go through the motions started a couple of games.
But you just saw Fat join me. Come on, man,
all right, all right, let's go out and play. But
we're gonna win.
Speaker 5 (04:14):
Got him dragged just a little bit more, by the
way during that ice Cube performance, Tell me what what
was Dave roberts On because that ain't just feel good.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
Well, hey, who whoa whoa, whoa, whoa whoa allegedly allegedly.
Speaker 3 (04:28):
I mean, you talked about the demon alcohol help.
Speaker 4 (04:30):
You could see it with guys when they're on the
when they're on the bus.
Speaker 3 (04:36):
I'm just saying, Dave got loose, and good for him.
Speaker 4 (04:39):
You could see it.
Speaker 1 (04:40):
It's like they're all, come on, man, the avocado vodka
or whatever it was he was having.
Speaker 3 (04:48):
Oh see, there you go.
Speaker 5 (04:49):
You take their shots at people who love overpriced avocados.
Speaker 4 (04:54):
Sure, exactly.
Speaker 1 (04:55):
Well, look, avocados are expensive, man, I mean that's that's like,
that's one of the gourmet fruits. You're not You're not
walking in saying, hey, getting like a bunch of avocados.
Speaker 4 (05:03):
Hey wait a minute, dude.
Speaker 3 (05:04):
That's that's categorized as a luxury item.
Speaker 4 (05:06):
At this meado.
Speaker 5 (05:07):
Wait, you are guacamole. You must have had a good year.
They're to make it at the table for me, all right.
I kind of miss that. That's one thing.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
I miss that because I don't think restaurants are gone
back to that after COVID. You're coming to the table
and making the guacamole.
Speaker 3 (05:21):
As much no, the bougie ones too. Okay, you gotta
go upscale, buddy.
Speaker 1 (05:25):
Some places that I've gone to and then I'm like,
oh no, you used to do that. Yeah, no, we
don't do that anymore.
Speaker 4 (05:30):
Okay, well you know what, you know what.
Speaker 3 (05:32):
You could do though? You can just bill on down
on the table. I bet you they'll make that quacam
the table money place.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
Is there anything I have in my pocket that I
could give to you that would make you make the guacamole?
Speaker 4 (05:46):
Ear? Uh? So the Dodgers, you know, the end of
the baseball season.
Speaker 1 (05:51):
And you know what I love is that you can
always tell when a sport finishes and has a and
has an ending that that people have desired to see.
You saw the look the TV ratings for it, like worldwide,
it's like thirty million people who watch the World Series, right,
like the seventeen million here at average, and then probably
the fifteen million at least in Japan that.
Speaker 4 (06:14):
Watched the World Series.
Speaker 1 (06:15):
And you could tell because the day after the World
Series like normally, Okay, that's it.
Speaker 4 (06:20):
It's the end.
Speaker 1 (06:20):
You get the articles online of here are your early favorites,
and here's the early power rankings for next year, and
here's the gambling favorites. The Dodgers are favorite to repeat.
Everybody's always favorite to repeat, even though nobody does. But
instead of that, we've gotten the last couple of days,
it's been okay, who's a free agent now, and who's filing,
and who's coming out and and and you know, free
(06:42):
agency starts in a few days, and suddenly we've gone
from okay, this is over and it's like there's been
one day of off season and now we're into the
next season. And that always tells you what cut season
of sport has it when they get to the end
of the when they get to the end of everything,
usually there's a break, we move on.
Speaker 4 (06:59):
But this, this is what baseball has done.
Speaker 1 (07:01):
Headlines of Blake Snell opting out the Braves and Angels
making a trade yesterday, and you look at all the
people who are trending on social media and you think
it's a lot of football. We got a big slate
going into tomorrow, and instead it's all about hey, Pete A.
Lonzo is trending and another player, what's gonna happen here,
who's gonna go? Soto is trending, He's gonna be such
a big thing. You could tell baseball is having a
(07:21):
great moment right now, and it's extending past.
Speaker 4 (07:24):
The World Series. And that tells you what kind of
year baseball had.
Speaker 5 (07:27):
Yeah, I mean, you see the type of year the
Dodgers were able to put together ninety eight wins to
lead all the Major League Baseball despite the fact that
they went through what was it, seventeen starting pitchers and
a roster of thousands. How they'll divvy up the checks
for everybody postseason wise, Well, you were around for a while,
(07:47):
all right, you get a sliver and start parsing it out.
It'll be an interesting watch when that fits voted on.
But to that point, it just showed that there's, you know,
just another way to find your yourself on a path
to the World title. And so what do you need
to do? You start to emulate what's working. Right In
(08:10):
the PostScript of the World Series, everybody's mocking the fundamentals
of the Yankees. Boy, I'll tell you what if I
had a nickel weasy, no, no, no, I'm just saying,
but suddenly it becomes it.
Speaker 3 (08:24):
Well, don't be those guys.
Speaker 5 (08:26):
Meanwhile, the gritty, gutsy Dodgers over here, with all of
these glue guys, and as we chronicled the other night
talking about the next iteration of things where bullpen management,
bullpen employment, you're feeling pretty good if you're coming up
on a free agency year and you did your job
as a reliever because of what the Dodgers just did.
(08:48):
And you looked at what the Dodgers roster was, a
lot of those guys were only making a million dollars.
They were not on the hook for massive amounts. Grader
was like two point seven, Brazier was I think the
high man at like five point four, and then if
we count Walker Bueller, he was eight million.
Speaker 3 (09:03):
Can't wait to see what his deal is.
Speaker 5 (09:04):
But the point being that in order to go chase
the leader, you can't sit around on your laurels. You
can't be I mean, even the White Sox announced the manager.
I mean, even the dregs of Major League Baseball are
active immediately in the aftermath of the World Series.
Speaker 1 (09:22):
So again, we'll we'll bring you some more baseball, some
more upset and cursing Dodger players throughout the night of
the show.
Speaker 4 (09:28):
But look, big night in the NBA happening right now.
Two finals.
Speaker 1 (09:32):
Want to spend a couple of minutes here on before
you get into our big Friday football preview. The Cavaliers
improved to six and oh they beat the Magic one
twenty one oh nine. And just for a couple minutes
on this, because yes, the Magic are playing without Paulo
Bancaro now.
Speaker 4 (09:44):
For at least the next four to six weeks. It's
a big deal.
Speaker 1 (09:47):
But here's Cleveland. And I want to say, because we've
had conversations about this, they have the best record in
the NBA, and you know, I don't know how it's
going to continue. But of all the teams I told
you that dark horse rising in the East that were
not talking about enough. Look conversation about the Celtics and
the Knicks. I get it, they're they're the big sexy
teams in the East, of course, but Cleveland was a
(10:08):
really good team last year.
Speaker 4 (10:10):
They ran into the Knicks. It's a tough matchup for them.
Speaker 1 (10:13):
But this is a good, young rising team and I
expect them when it's all said and done. If they're not,
if they're not one of the top three teams in
the Eastern Conference, I'll be really surprised. And and and
maybe the wind up with a better regular season record
then either the Knicks or the Celtics, because are the
Celtics really going to go all out to get the
(10:33):
number one record in the Eastern Conference. That's gonna be
a thing. But Cleveland, if they're not one of the
top three teams and a big, serious title threat by
the time we get to the playoffs, I'll be really surprised.
Speaker 5 (10:43):
No, you look at the balance and tonight, you know,
you hang a star on it. As you said, man
Caro doesn't play, and it's a blowout, so everybody plays,
everybody wins. But putting up big points, good balance, and
you've got the two headed monster right off the jump.
And and they've already taken down a couple of big teams,
uh in terms of what they've been able to do,
(11:05):
including your Knicks.
Speaker 2 (11:07):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (11:07):
So opportunity uh duff knock here some blowout wins uh
and early on buy in. Normally we do the well
we gotta wait for a month or we wait till
Christmas to try to judge squad. Now, no, no, baseball's over.
We gotta judge people right now, and right now they're
kicking ass so in the East that that's fun to
(11:28):
get another team as opposed to just the all right whiteboard,
there's the Knicks, there's the Celtics, and then we'll wait
and see.
Speaker 3 (11:37):
No, let's have other teams in the mix.
Speaker 4 (11:40):
And one of the other teams we talked about.
Speaker 1 (11:41):
Look, they've started out better than we expected, better than
they've started out in the last few years.
Speaker 4 (11:48):
The Lakers just put the finishing touches.
Speaker 1 (11:50):
On a win over Toronto. They went at one thirty.
Another big night from Anthony Davis. He scores thirty eight.
Now you think I'm gonna come out and say, oh,
the Lakers are going with a Nikers are let me
just say, hang, no, no, no, this this is the
There is no reason, no reason, no reason, no reason
you can give me to not be somewhat encouragingly cautiously
(12:14):
optimistic for the Lakers so far this year. I mean,
I'm dead encouraging, cautiously optimistic, carefully, that's that's kind of
where I am. I mean, look, we've seen enough of
this Laker team, and obviously, hey, when the big players
like ad and Lebron who are older, especially Lebron, when
they haven't played in a long time, they're gonna come
(12:35):
out fresh and play well beginning of the season. Obviously
things are going to be different at the end when
these guys have had long seasons. It's just how it goes.
But right now, I mean, look, they've started off better
than I thought. They've looked a lot better, They've looked
a lot more in sync than I thought they would.
You're talking about a couple of players they expect to
take big steps. You have a new head coach, and
I I mean really early, encouraging, cautiously optimistic. That's where
(13:00):
I am for the Lakers right now, and you gotta
take it. That's as far as I'll go. But I
do feel then if you're looking at a needle in
the middle and it's at zero and then like one
hundred is all the way down at the right angle,
and then zero, you just move a little bit to
the right. It's just a tiny bit to the right,
a little bit, a little bit more towards one hundred
than it is towards the other side.
Speaker 4 (13:21):
So it's just a time bit early, cautiously, extremely extremely
cautiously optimistic.
Speaker 5 (13:28):
Well, it's like we were talking about your mid season jets.
With their win last night over the Texans, We'll move
them past the midpoint towards Hey, maybe something can be
brewing with the schedule ahead, continuity, consistency, et cetera. For
the Lakers, got to be impressed early on with what
JJ Reddick's gotten out of them in terms of committing
on both sides of the court. For Anthony Davis, the
(13:51):
beat rolls on. So playing in the Olympics and all
of those things, where you start you start worrying about
where right, especially for guys that.
Speaker 3 (13:59):
Have missed time.
Speaker 5 (14:00):
I'm so much time in the past due to injuries.
So for Davis and James, wherever they're going to be
able to find some rest moments I got to think
over the course of the regular season they do. But
out of the gate, this is one of Lebron's more
complete games that he's given thus far. They combined for
sixty five and eighteen Lebron with tennis cists as well
(14:24):
Reeves and Russell at twenty and nineteen, and the starters
had their way not to not to you know, totally
dismiss RJ. Barrett, former Nick and Grady Dick, who combined
for sixty four points in the loss. But you should
also make note Bronnie James did get.
Speaker 3 (14:38):
A minute in this game.
Speaker 1 (14:40):
Yeah, well, look they're up because he was up big. Yeah,
when you're up big, you get a minute. Guy, get
a minute. And that's the thing is that, Hey, how
much can we give Bronnie James where he's not going
to impact the game at all? Okay, you know, when
a guy's got to come out at the end of
a quarter, we give him a minute, right because okay, defensively,
he won't kill us for a minute, and the g
League can't get here fast enough, But we're gonna play
(15:02):
it for a minute here and there.
Speaker 4 (15:04):
It's gonna happen. But here's one minute of Brownie James,
so nobody else picks up a foul.
Speaker 5 (15:08):
Yeah, and again I'm not dragging him. It's not his fault.
He's part of a machineer. But for the Lakers, you
gotta be encouraged. And again, you know, owing to history
of Chiefs win, Dodgers win, question mark going.
Speaker 3 (15:23):
Back to twenty twenty, how about.

Speaker 1 (17:14):
I'm always a big fan of the last time you'll
ever hear someone do something in their life, last time
you'll ever hear fat Joe do something before a Yankee game.
Speaker 4 (17:22):
That's it right here.
Speaker 5 (17:24):
It's tough, but man, look because immediately what does everybody
go to? You were fat Joe? You're not fat?
Speaker 1 (17:32):
But that's good though, Like the guy's healthy normally, I
agree he's medium sized Joe.
Speaker 4 (17:38):
He's a little bit smaller Joe.
Speaker 3 (17:40):
It's like medium medium bet that we always saw about.
Speaker 1 (17:44):
He was two pros and a cup of Joe. Now
he's just a cup of Joe. He's just Joe.
Speaker 3 (17:48):
It's tough man man. But I mean that's your moniker.
That's how people know you.
Speaker 4 (17:52):
You just take me.
Speaker 5 (17:53):
Talk about all the comedians when suddenly you go and
and you drop fifty pounds. Suddenly they don't they don't
last up at your prict falls the same way.
Speaker 1 (18:02):
Now, you used to be funnier when you were heavier.
I know what I'm doing, but I write so much
better now. Yeah, I don't care. It doesn't matter. I
want to be a dramatic actor.
Speaker 4 (18:10):
Damn you. Why are you fat Joe? My bank account
is fat. That's what I would say.
Speaker 1 (18:14):
I would be fat, or I would I would rebrand
myself like fat Joe.
Speaker 4 (18:17):
P h A T like like to try to again
sell more merchant.
Speaker 1 (18:21):
Stuff, and I try to do that like that point
there you go, you do. Yeah, see that's that's how
I You gotta do it now, But I'm here fat.
Speaker 4 (18:29):
They'll never have fat Joe again. Fat Joe is done.
Speaker 1 (18:36):
Though at what at at at at singing before Yankee games,
that's not when you do it, just a general du bank,
not a good run.
Speaker 5 (18:45):
I mean, all good things come to an age, it happens.
Speaker 1 (18:47):
So but no, he's still a successful artist. He still
makes a lot of money, and he still has a
lot of hits up. But I mean, but as far
as you talk about hey singing for the Yankees, and
I'll be no, that's it.
Speaker 4 (18:58):
It's not a good run. It's one and done.
Speaker 5 (19:00):
No, on some level, I mean you have to wonder,
you know, who thought that that was the big guy
to trot out?
Speaker 4 (19:07):
Who do we got hang on? Uh? Billy, Yeah, he's still.
Speaker 5 (19:15):
Hunt tour and then he's hanging out at the Taylor
Swift show with his kids, so he's out.
Speaker 1 (19:19):
De Snyder keeps calling, no, gotta move on. Can't have
d Snyder move on?
Speaker 5 (19:23):
Springsteen and his band were rehearsing the Ghostbusters theme for
that that show on the thirty first, so he was unavailable.
Speaker 4 (19:30):
We can we can't have Springsteen?
Speaker 7 (19:31):
Why?
Speaker 1 (19:31):
Because he wants forty five minutes. He says he needs
to do a couple of really long songs. He wants
to talk to the audience. He needs too much time.
You can't just have him come out for one song.
Speaker 5 (19:40):
He tried to force Paul Simon to it to work
with Garfunkel, he refused.
Speaker 4 (19:45):
First pitch will be at ten o'clock New York time.
We can't have that. Can't do it. So the classes
coming to town. Not many, not many.
Speaker 1 (19:55):
Uh So, a big titanic weekend in college football. One
of the biggest Top twenty five, Top five matchups we'll
see all year, Ohio State and Penn State, part of
the Big Dude Kickoff on Fox. Got Pete Futech coming
up a little less than an hour from now. I'm
gonna tell us how he thinks this game is gonna go.
And look, we'll get to the cowboys of what happened
(20:15):
with Jerry Jones today in a minute. But look, this
is the game we're all gonna wake up and watch tomorrow.
And you're talking about two of the best teams in
the country, and I know that there. Look, Drew Alller's
status is going right out to game time and James
Franklin being very cagy with it. I assume he knows
by now, but hey, you got to prepare for a
couple of quarterbacks.
Speaker 4 (20:34):
This is how you thought it would go.
Speaker 1 (20:36):
I even though they're at home and they're seven to zero,
I don't think it's going to matter number one, because
I have to see James Franklin win a big game
at some point. Sure, Like I gotta say, I'm not
just gonna say this is the time to do it.
Speaker 4 (20:49):
I can't. I can't do it. I can't just play
whack a mole and go this is when he's gonna
win the big game. This is what no.
Speaker 1 (20:55):
Ryan Day and Ohio State don't generally lose games like
this in the regular season. They should have probably won
a couple weeks ago against Oregon had you had a
little bit smarter play in the last minute with your quarterback.
But it was still a back and forth game.
Speaker 4 (21:07):
It was on the road. Ohio State plays these games
extremely well, and I have seen Ohio State win games
like this big regular season tests for the better part
of the last twenty years. Whether it was Ryan Day
or Urban Meyer, Jim Trussell. They don't lose these games.
It's the end of the year, when you get to
the Big Ten in Michigan, that's when they start.
Speaker 1 (21:27):
Look, that's what okay, now, that is when we start losing.
But I've seen Ohio State win these games, and it's
not gonna be a great game for offense. Both defenses
are really good, and I can't really see Ohio State
running the football. But in the end, Ohio State's gonna
make more plays. I have more confidence they're gonna make
more plays than Penn State's. Whether drew aller plays or not,
(21:49):
they will find a way to get it done. And
simply because Ryan Day and Ohio State they know how
to navigate these big ones. It'll be close, and I'll
take Penn State in the under. I feel just as
strong about the under as I'm sorry Ohio State in
the under. I feel just as strong about the under.
But it'll be close. But give me Ohio State seventeen sixteen.
(22:11):
They win and they continue to stay alive and not
have to worry about polls and voting whatever else it
is for the top twelve for the playoff, gimme Ohio
State by a point.
Speaker 5 (22:21):
Look at you, I'm gonna take him to cover the
three and a half and to win easily. Looking at
the James Franklin resume. As you go through against top
ten teams three and seventeen. Let's be more generous, let's
just say top twenty five. He's still just twelve and
twenty five. He's going five lifetime against Ohio State. They
(22:42):
get drummed in this one. They don't generate any offense,
they're smothered by Ohio State, and they win going away.
Speaker 1 (22:49):
If you know, look, I'd love to be able to
see because Penn State being good is really good for
college football, and they can afford a loss. Let's be honest, right,
you know, you know, even though there at all they
can afford a loss, maybe a little bit less with
Ohio State, a two loss Ohio State team probably still
gets into the playoff. But you still have Indiana coming up,
you have Michigan coming up. Like you are running out
(23:11):
of real estate to say, hey, we feel comfortably in
the field of twelve and again, if Penn State wins
this game, I will now feel confident about picking Penn
State to win big games. But they gotta do it first,
and I really I gotta see if James Franklin actually
win a game. You know, win's something that really Amderic
Cans say, Wow, that's a signature win for James Franklin
(23:32):
to Penn State.
Speaker 4 (23:32):
I gotta see him do it. I gotta see him
do it. So I'll take Ohio State.
Speaker 5 (23:35):
Three and a half point road favorites. Total is forty
five and a half. Feels like a I don't know,
thirty to fourteen game or something.
Speaker 1 (23:47):
Mike Harmon a little bit more on Ohio State than
I am. So there's our first big pick of the
day again, big nude kickoff on Fox tomorrow morning. We
will get to the Cowboys coming up in ninety seconds,
but first special deliveries Steve to say are going to
tell us everything that's trending in the wide world of sports,
Kicking off with the fact that he made fifteen thousand
(24:08):
dollars tonight because he bet the Knicks giving twenty nine
to the Detroit Pistons.
Speaker 4 (24:14):
Hey, Steve, weaked one out, Hey.
Speaker 8 (24:15):
Steve, was it only twenty nine? We've seen the Pistons,
and we've seen this before from the Pistons, But yeah,
Detroit's one in five after losing by thirty points at
home to the Knicks one twenty eight, ninety eight, such
a blowout that Jalen Brunson had thirty six points in
thirty one minutes on the court. He had scored twenty
six points in the first half Boston's five and one
(24:36):
after winning at Charlotte won twenty four to one oh nine.
Jason Tatum thirty four points. Cleveland six and oh it
led by nineteen at the half, and Viato Orlando won
twenty to one oh nine. Jalen Sugs twenty eight points
in defeat. Wins for Brooklyn and Sacramento. Also for the Lakers,
who won at Toronto. Lakers were up after the first
quarter forty three to nineteen and held on to beat
(24:57):
the Raptors one thirty one, one twenty five. Davis thirty
eight points. Raptors record now one in five and it's
a final.
Speaker 4 (25:04):
At New Orleans.
Speaker 9 (25:04):
Zion Williamson with thirty four points ten assists in a
victory against Indiana one twenty five one eighteen. Pelicans guard
C J. McCollum is out two to three weeks with
a strained deductor. There are only two late games in
the NBA. Late first half at Minnesota Timberwolves lead fifty
eight to fifty five over the Denver Nuggets, and late
first quarter the Thunder four and oh leading at Portland
(25:26):
twenty six to fourteen. Golden State, steph Curry will miss
a third straight game tomorrow with an ankle injury. The
new WNBA coach for Indiana is Stephanie White, a former
player and coach there. Among the six NHL games, one
in Finland today, Florida defeated Dallas six to four. They'll
play again there tomorrow. Wins for the Rangers and Winnipeg
tonight Winnipeg ten and one.
Speaker 4 (25:48):
Now.
Speaker 9 (25:48):
As for the college football on FS one, about a
minute to go in the third quarter at fifteenth ranked
Boise State forty two to ten is the Broncos lead
against San Diego State, and this will put Boise State
at seven and one on the season. Heisman candidate running
back Ashton genty on twenty seven carries as one hundred
and seventeen yards and a TD. By the way, Grand
(26:10):
Canyon University within two years will join the Mountain West Conference,
which is losing five members to the new PAC twelve,
including Boise State in the near future. The Phoenix school
was going to join the West Coast Conference, especially for basketball,
but Gonzaga is leaving that league for the PAC twelve.
Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson was cleared to play Sunday. He'd
(26:31):
miss practice Wednesday and Thursday with backend knee problems. Giants
pitcher Blake Snell opted out of his contract, and the
Giants promoted Zach Manascion II general manager. His brother is
the Angels GM. The Yankees picked up the option on
closer Luke Waiver, and the Dodgers victory parade was today
through downtown LA. Afterwards, there was a ticketed celebration at
(26:52):
the stadium and that with the upper deck seats closed
the top deck, I should say about forty two thousand
fans for that party at the stadium today. By the way,
LA reliever Daniel Hudson retired, and outfielder Kevin Kiermyer announced
his retirement, and Clayton Kershaw said he will have two
surgeries on Wednesday, one on the toe, one on the knee.
(27:14):
He already had the shoulder surgery a year ago, but
does plan to pitch next year. He just didn't want
to be on crutches during the postseason and during the parade.
Speaker 1 (27:24):
And wait a minute, Steve, I think Daniel Hudson retired
running out to the mound to celebrate after the final out.
It wasn't like I think that I think he ran up.
I'm retired. I'm retired. They jumped on the Bueller he
retired back.
Speaker 9 (27:37):
Then, as I recalled time ago, it was Daniel Hudson
who gave up the Vulpie Grand Slam in the All
bullpen game. And if Walker Buehler didn't do the job
in the ninth to clinch, guess who was going to
pitch the tenth inning for the Dodgers One Herscheiser, Daniel Hudson.
Did you notice Walker Bueller wearing apparently a game warn
(27:57):
Hersheiser got that.
Speaker 1 (27:59):
You really don't think her Schier was going to pitch
the tenth as Jersey was there all ready to go.
Speaker 9 (28:03):
I think he already proved in the eighty eight playoffs
against the Mets. He could start, he could relieve everything.
It doesn't matter at the age.
Speaker 5 (28:10):
Oral also said, when he gets it back, he's not
gonna wash it. So whatever Walker Bueller's done to it,
that's the condition it'll stay in.
Speaker 1 (28:21):
Thank you, Steve, appreciate it, thank you, thank you. That's
that's Steve to say. He knows when to drop the mic.
He know dropping the mic. Walk uh the Jason Spitzer
with Mike harmon Live dot Com Studios. No, I know
he's walking. No, he knows to drop the mic. I'm
walking away from you because you're gonna get struck by lightning.
Speaker 4 (28:37):
So that's that's what he's doing. I get it. That
was his drop the mic because the lightning's gonna come.
It's going to strike and if he's holding the microphone,
it's going to strike him. So I'm dropping the mic
walking away, so the lightning just strikes you, all right,
that's all.
Speaker 1 (28:49):
Uh So, Dallas in Atlanta one of the big games
on Sunday in the NFL.
Speaker 4 (28:55):
Not the biggest.
Speaker 1 (28:55):
I mean, the Lions are playing the biggest game in
the NFL Sunday things. I didn't think guy'd say three
years ago. But ahead of this game, which is which
is a titanic game for the Cowboys as they try
to continue to salvage whatever they have going on this season.
Speaker 7 (29:10):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (29:11):
Jerry Jones did one of his weekly spots on one
O five three the Fan today and talked about the
Cowboys less than stellar start right there, three and four.
They're not one in five at three and four, so okay,
but uh, Jerry Jones actually said, hey, you know the
way the Cowboys have been playing.
Speaker 4 (29:29):
It's kind of a surprise to him. Take a listen,
this is where we have the Jerry Jones sound ready.
Speaker 1 (29:36):
When he talks, sure, look the monkeys look ut the
smith kid. Uh said that, Look, this start is rougher
that I anticipated. Even though I didn't sign anybody in
the off season and all I did was give guys money.
Speaker 4 (29:52):
I thought we'd be better just by osmosis. You know,
learned about that in the chemistry back in Arkansas.
Speaker 7 (29:58):
Than just.
Speaker 4 (30:00):
Because you guys are talking.
Speaker 1 (30:02):
It's gonna wind up being something that just just it
just like like the zombie plague that just goes from
person to person like that. We were just gonna just
get there and just suddenly be good because of that.
And uh, I don't know why we're not playing better.
Speaker 4 (30:15):
What was your question? We do have we do have
the sound ready. Now here's Jerry Jones.
Speaker 7 (30:21):
I think we're having a rougher go than I anticipated.
Let's put it like that. Okay, so that's don't let's
don't a couple that with just those two Yeah, let's uh.
Speaker 2 (30:31):
But having me in the loop needs to be there.
Speaker 7 (30:34):
It is rougher. Uh, And I did not anticipate the
challenges that we're having with this team. But I uh
am reminded of teams that I've seen that have had
a lot of success and put themselves in a position
to take a shot. And they were three and four.
Speaker 4 (30:54):
Wait, did you really say? I got to be in
the loop more? You know, I can't.
Speaker 1 (30:58):
They keep telling me these meetings are at three o'clock.
Show up at five to three. They tell me the
meeting was over and I'm late. So I go back
to back to my desk and make some phone calls,
been on some stuff on eBay. Bought a nice big
cowboy helmet clock the other day. It was great, got
it right on there. Every time I turn the light on,
it plays, it plays a call a Cowboys winning the
Super Bowl after I bought the team. It's fantastic. But
(31:18):
then I got a meeting at five o'clock and I
get there five to five and they tell me the
meeting is already at I don't know what's going on.
I call Steven, I say Steven, when was the meeting?
He said, Dad, you were there.
Speaker 4 (31:26):
You don't remember, And I'm like, no, I don't, okay,
And then then the day ends and next thing I know,
I'm signing over money to Dak Prescott. So that's how
it's been far so far. For Jerry Chones to say.
Speaker 1 (31:40):
The start is rougher than I anticipated, if he really
believes that, then he has completely lost his fastball. Right,
if he honestly believes it's un anticipated, he has completely
lost his fastball because he knows he's on the team
for a long time. If you don't improve in and
off season, guess what, You're not going to suddenly magically
(32:01):
improve when you start playing in September just because the
calendar changes. It's something everybody learns, but usually the younger age. Well,
we're gonna better next year. Why because it's not this year.
Oh that's right. Once the calendar once we watch the
ball go down in Times Square and Ryan Secrets is
smiling at me, and I'm watching sailors kiss their girlfriends. Oh,
magically it's gonna be better for us. Doesn't work that way.
(32:21):
So I know if he really believes that that he's
lost his fastball. And Jerry Jones, whatever you want to
say about him, he's not lost his fastball. He's still jerrying,
which is what he does. You cannot like it, and
it doesn't make it right, and how he has run
the team. But he is still Jerrying. He is still
keeping the Cowboys in the conversation when they're not winning.
Now he knows, he knows this whole thing is going on.
(32:44):
He's trying to find a way to motivate the team
through his appearances because he knows everybody listens and pays attention.
But if I really thought for a second he believed it,
I would say he's lost his fastball, and wow, this
is really this is gonna be really difficult because he
no longer can really run the team. But I don't
think for a second that's what it is. He's still,
like I said, he's still Jerrying. He's still doing everything
(33:04):
to keep the Cowboys top of mind, whether it's threatening
to fire radio hoster, saying stuff like this every week,
He's doing it how he's always done it. It's always
his fault until he decides it's not. I'll take responsibility,
but then when it gets too much for me, it's
gonna be somebody else's fault. This is all the Jerry's
always done, and this is just one of those tools
he is using to make people think, oh, hey, you're surprised.
(33:26):
I'm surprised, like we had a really good team. No,
everybody knew.
Speaker 4 (33:29):
Jerry, you're the only guy trying to push it a
different way to say it's not my fault.
Speaker 5 (33:32):
See, I would say this, it's the not necessarily in
Jerry's mind, is it where their record is, because notice
he pulls out the three and four, it's how they've
lost that. He didn't think the margin was that much
between them and a Baltimore, a Detroit, or a San Francisco.
Because the San Francisco it's cosmetic, that thirty to twenty
(33:54):
four final, right that game against New Orleans, well, we've
seen what New Orleans is. So I'm sure he's pissed
about that, and in a quiet moment, he'd start letting
out a litany of curse words to describe his feelings
over having gotten drummed in that one. But certainly even
Jerry has to realize that there was going to be
(34:15):
a gap, and you wanted to see how your team
would compete with teams that are seen as elite, because
the Cowboys were not seen by anybody. Even Jerry had
his most delusional as being in the same class as Baltimore, Detroit,
and San Francisco. You just didn't think you'd get smacked
around as easily as you did. So going forward, how
(34:36):
do you change it? Well, you should have probably actually
kept Tony Pollard. Who would have thought he might have
been a lynchpin to this whole damn thing, just having
a functional running.
Speaker 3 (34:45):
Back this whole time.
Speaker 4 (34:47):
Think about that running back, he was the guy. He's
like the Cowboys.
Speaker 5 (34:52):
Think now, obviously you have issues defensively. You'd had injuries
and you weren't able to bolster the defensive front. You
had a couple of injuries to your secondary where you're
starting corners. I've been out even though you get digs back,
bland and miss so much time. Oh of that, Parsons
is out. All that to say though, the gap, you know,
the wins above replacement from those players is so huge.
(35:16):
Then you're now in this spot where you're trying to
spin in week nine.
Speaker 1 (35:21):
Exit out about a Fresca exit swalling down The Jason
Smith Show with Mike Carmon live from the tirerack dot
Com Studios. Sorry, everything is fine for the Cowboys until
they lose again on Sunday, So we'll have more on
this game coming up in a little bit, but straight ahead,
one of the best games in the NFL on Sunday
features a team who right now they have the NFL
(35:42):
Coach of the Year and it's not even close. Way,
way do we tell you who that? No, it's not Cleveland.
Way do we tell you who that coach of the
year is? That's next right here, Jason and Mike. Happy Friday.
Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (35:56):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Carman weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 4 (36:07):
Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (36:08):
The Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon, Yes, Sir,
Live from the Tirack dot com studios. End of the
third quarter Minnesota, Denver, ninety one, p. Eighty five, So boy,
do we have some kind of fourth quarter coming your
way in that one. But time now to take a
look at all the big goings on in college football tomorrow.
(36:31):
Nobody better to talk to than longtime college football insider,
the owner, editor, proprietor of College Footballnews dot Com. You're
one stop shopping for college football. All the previews, all
the picks, all the prognostications.
Speaker 4 (36:46):
He is on Twitter at Pete feutech.
Speaker 1 (36:48):
He is a man who has once been called the
chick Gandle of college football analysts.
Speaker 4 (36:53):
It is petefewtech. Pete, what's happening?
Speaker 6 (36:55):
But I'm assuming that's good. I just feel accept it.
I take all all those sort of comparisons out here,
who it is this is, accept them at this point
as positive.
Speaker 1 (37:05):
All right, So listen, we take a look at tomorrow.
There's no bigger game than Ohio State and Penn State.
And you know, when I look at this game, Pete,
it's pretty simple for me. I have seen Ryan Day
and Ohio State win games like this, big regular season
games pretty regularly the last few years. I haven't seen
(37:25):
James Franklin Penn State do this in quite a long time.
I'm not picking Penn State until I see him do it.
Speaker 3 (37:31):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (37:32):
You know, first of all, the whining over your your
beloved stations play Oh dear god, they have to play
the game in noon. Oh no, you know this should
be weird. How do you disrespect us like this? It's
like the silliest thing ever, Like, okay, yeah, we thought
there was gonna be another world serious game. There's not
so sorry, Ohio State, Penn State, You're playing at noon,
(37:54):
It'll be fine, you know. Blame Aaron Judges, Aaron Judges fall,
you know, for all this, you know whatever. But here's
the thing about the James Franklin. I'm sort of a
James Franklin apologist, even though, you know, after everything that
happened in the last week or so, everything, But his
biggest sin is he can't beat Ohio State or National
(38:16):
Championship good Michigan. That's you know, it's kind of like
all those Well he couldn't beat Alabama, Well yeah, because
Alabama's really awesome, you know so, but he's had a
couple of those over the years, but those were more
in the urban Myrish eras. But you're right, if you
look at it, if you look at his resume, it's
pretty good. You know, kick the bowl games out of
(38:37):
the mix because those are always fifty to fifty games
and weird thing. But he doesn't lose, you know, both
of my you know, my Ryan Derek Maan. He doesn't
lose to the you know, the Purdues of the world.
You know, they lose to the big shots. And Ohio
State's the best team in college football, and so all
of a sudden they're going to come out this week
and lose to Ohio State. Oh James Franklin can't be well, yeah,
because Ohio State's really awesome. Penn State isn't you know,
(39:01):
they're gonna go to the college football playoffs. But we'll
see they don't have they don't have it. This is
more of an indictment on Ohio State if they don't
win this by ten, Tom off.
Speaker 5 (39:11):
A lot of action going on in the Big Ten
with interest nationally. Indiana, any chance they get caught looking
past Sparty at the schedule.
Speaker 6 (39:20):
Ahead, how about getting looking past they do get Curtis
Rourke back their their quarterback. Look, there ain't no this
It's kind of it's always funny if you you think it.
Just kind of assume that all programs have you know,
some season somewhere in nineteen o five or something where
you know, they blew through a bunch of you know,
high school teams and you know, doctors colleges and had
(39:42):
an eleven win season. Indiana's never had a ten win season,
you know, so for all the you know, yes, they
have not played anybody. Michigan State's actually probably their toughest
game yet. I mean, they have not played the Ohio
States or Michigan their period dependent states of the world.
They they not played a by But what are you
doing against the schedule? That's just not that great. You
(40:04):
just beat him up badly, and that's what Indiana's doing.
So you know they for all the everyone's trying to
knock him a little bit, and I know I just did.
But eight eight, no, and it's it's Indiana football. There's
no yucking this young, it's just this, yeah, pley lose
this tomorrow. Okay, they're still really good. At some point,
(40:24):
reality is gonna come to breakfast. They're gonna play someone
really awesome. But yeah, it'd be kind of fun to
see him, you know, going to the Michigan game with
a you know, the puck on their stick and the
chance to go you know, ten and oh for the
first time in program history.
Speaker 1 (40:38):
Oh sure, in all the video of Michael Pennix Junior
and Anthony Thompson, you know, the only two times Indiana
has been good the last thirty five years. It'll be
a very short segment, but it'll still be fun seeing
video of those.
Speaker 6 (40:48):
Oh you you put Antoine Randall ell in your dad.
Speaker 4 (40:52):
Right, Sorry, it'll be twelve seconds long.
Speaker 1 (40:56):
It'll be one Michael Pennis play, one Anthony Thompson run
and antoine. Sorry, twelve second lie, But it'll still be
fun to see one.
Speaker 6 (41:04):
Or two games here there or they just went off
of I'm old enough to remember that Anthony Thompson Michigan game.
But but you're right, this is not a program. What's
what's the famous story at the Leak Course? So when
he was coaching there, they scored first against Ohio State
and he made the whole team come out there and
you know, pose in front of the scoreboard when they're
up three nothing. I mean, that's that's Indiana is used
(41:29):
to doing that in basketball. But football, you know what
for a while?
Speaker 1 (41:33):
All right, now you mentioned Michigan. Uh, it looks like
their quarterback plan is in place. Now it's going to
be Davis Warren with Org being sort of the change
up guy, which probably what it should have been to
begin the season.
Speaker 4 (41:45):
But this is a big task tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (41:47):
Against Oregon, and I know that we're still sort of
believe in Oregon is great, but still the bad I
have a I have a tough time even that even
though I'm a little suspicious about Oregon. I have a
tough time seeing Michigan coming out and then pulling and
shock in the world.
Speaker 6 (42:01):
Yeah good, because if we're here, you guys are out there.
We're men of the Pac twelve. Because this is a
time of year when Oregon usually goes to Arizona and plays,
you know, one of the Arizona teams that like, you know,
eleven o'clock at night East Coast time, and then they
just just go in the tank when they really shouldn't
against the team that they shouldn't. It just they're overdue
(42:22):
to go Oregon and have one of those games where
it just doesn't work. Uh, but you just you just
mentioned it. I don't know who's playing quarterback. I guess
for Michigan. I mean, like, how how are you Michigan?
How does Indiana have Curtis Rourke and Michigan doesn't like
It's it's so inexcusable how they did not use the
portal after coming up a national championship to get just
(42:45):
a real quarterback who could step in and just be competent.
Because they can't grow and the problem's gonna have to
be unless they're they get that offensive line lathered up
and they're starting to pound away like they did against USC.
They're gonna a shot, I mean, because they just can't
get that offense going. Oregon's defense is good. I mean,
(43:05):
I guess Dylan Gabriel's fine. He's probably gonna win the
Heisman because no one else is gonna be worth it.
But I guess. But Young with you, I'm not. There's
a couple of those games this weekend, the double digit
home dogs and conference play, and this is one of
them where if we're talking next week and I don't
know if Michigan wins, but at least makes it closer
than double digits, I would not be shocked.
Speaker 5 (43:28):
How about the fact that we've got a ranked SMU
team battling against pitt this week.
Speaker 3 (43:33):
Do we get to see some Eric Dickerson highlights?
Speaker 6 (43:36):
No, you're not gonna see the game. Where is it
being played? It's like on the ACC network. Who has that?
Speaker 1 (43:42):
I mean, I actually I have the ACC network. I
watch AZC network every week. Pete, you should come to buyouts.
Speaker 3 (43:48):
You stream it like.
Speaker 6 (43:52):
I might have to. But look, this is this is
the equivalent if you look at the rest of the
SMU schedule.
Speaker 3 (43:59):
This is it.
Speaker 6 (44:00):
I mean, unless they whiff this, they're gonna be favored
the rest of the way after this. Now Pitt has
a couple in nasty. I think Pitt has Clemson to play.
They have Clemson and somebody else nasty that they have
to deal with, I think Ercus. But they have a
couple of nasty games left. SMU somehow misses everybody this
year on the schedule. They kind of did them a
(44:22):
solid in their first year in and lo and behold
they win tomorrow, that's going to be an eleven and
one SMU team probably. And this is where it gets
really funky. It is because with these you know, conferences
with forty seven teams in it, Miami, Clemson, and SMU,
they don't play each other, you know, so you probably
you might have like Clemson and Miami, you know, playing
(44:44):
for the a SEC Championship. SMU going to eleven and
one and no way, no how, no chance is the
College Football Playoff committee going to leave out an eleven
wins Power five program. So this is kind of the
equivalent of when it was around a thirty two games
you know, in the college fotball playoff A little bit
for SMU.
Speaker 1 (45:02):
Who knew last week and a game where I watched
the fourth quarter of it, and if people watch the
fourth quarter of this game, they would they would ban
SMU and Duke college football.
Speaker 4 (45:12):
That's fourth quarter and over.
Speaker 1 (45:13):
Time that said college football back seventy five years.
Speaker 4 (45:17):
That was absolutely bad.
Speaker 6 (45:20):
Sometimes. Look, I'm not joking here when I say the
college Football Playoff Committee. It's made up of people who
have real lives and job We're doing things other than
you know, watching the end of games like that bill.
They're gonna be locked in here going forward, but they
don't see everything. That's one of those where they'll see
it on paper. Oh, they'd be a Duke team that
(45:41):
you know is still pretty much in the black. But
you're right, if you saw that, you're like, I don't
want anything to do with either of these. I don't
want to do anything with football and if ever agains,
but hey, sometimes sometimes any landing what you can walk
away from is a good one. And hey, again, we're
talking about SMU. You here, you know we're not I
If sm you pitch tomorrow was Miami Clemson, it would
(46:05):
be front and center, you know, than the biggest of networks,
and you know, the night game and all that kind
of stuff. But sm you pit, We'll see and it
turns out this might be for a college football playoff spot.
Speaker 1 (46:17):
Now I'll ask you this, Pete, that just not not
to have the team specifically. But if I said to
you right now, knowing how the college football season has
gone so far, we got about a month or so left,
if I said to you, how many non power five
let's say teams, right, how many not the old power fobacy,
with the conferences changing every eight seconds, how many of
the non power conference playoff berths are there going to be?
Speaker 4 (46:40):
Is there two once? One?
Speaker 6 (46:42):
Oh, it's just Boise State, Boise State or the less
Boise State whifts somewhere. But whoever gets Kulinari's got two loss,
And so you'd have for this to forget the two in,
you'd have to have It's not gonna be a little easy, Anna,
you know it's it's it's just not they're not going
to get high enup. Now, with that said, if Boise
State wins out, they brottled San Diego State nights and
(47:04):
for some weird reason gave Ashton Jankee like fifty carries
when they didn't need to. But if if Boise State
wins out and they beat let's say UNLB again in
the Mountain West Championship. Okay, yeah, the Mounta West schedule
isn't that great. Boise State's one loss was at Oregon.
Everyone kind of forgets this. It was a that was
(47:24):
a firefighter, like, oh man, Oregon must suck in. They
got they beaten up by this janty guy who ran
for two hundred and forty yards and I think it
was thirty seven to thirty four I think was the
final score at Oregon. If that's Boise State's only lost
and they're twelve and one Mountain West champs, try, that's
what out. They're gonna be the four seed.
Speaker 3 (47:43):
I think.
Speaker 6 (47:44):
I think the Big twelve is gonna beat itself up.
I think there's a couple of losses in there for
Wiowa State and BYU. I think Kansas State probably rises
up in all this, and you're gonna probably have a
two lost Big twelve champion. I think there's a real
shot that you're gonna have. Boy the state is the
four seed, and then your five seed becomes like the
Oregon Ohio State Big Ten Championship loser. Your sixth seed
(48:07):
becomes like Notre Dame. Your seven becomes the SEC team two,
and all of a sudden, you know, your Power five
Conference champions Big twelve team might be an eight or
nine seed in this whole thing.
Speaker 1 (48:19):
He's on Twitter at Pete feutech That is at Pete
feu Tech. The website is college footballnews dot com. All
the analysis, all the picks you could want. Is there
again a guy who has been called the Swede Risburg
of college football analysts?
Speaker 3 (48:33):
Wow, it's Pete fu Tech.
Speaker 4 (48:34):
Pete is always buddy, enjoying the games. My friend, we'll
talk to you.
Speaker 6 (48:37):
Not touching the end of that one. I have no clue,
but I'm just gonna let it go in there. Smut, Okay,
I mean Pete.
Speaker 1 (48:46):
Pete dropped the eight men out reference with us a
couple of weeks ago, so I thought I could go
back to him with chick. He's let me look up
chick gandling Swede Risburg. Oh right, those guys are Michael Rooker, right, yeah, sure, yeah,
and Don Harvey, a guy who I saw picking out
a Christmas tree a couple of years ago, and I
got tungued.
Speaker 4 (49:02):
I wanted to say, I know, Oh my god, dude,
you're you were Sweet Risburg. You were in thy hard too.
But I was like, oh, I wasn't ready to meet
Don Harvey. I can't believe that.
Speaker 1 (49:10):
We're not trying to mean, uh Tom, not to find
out what's trending in the wide world of sports of
a guy who was actually an extra and eight men
out he played for the Reds.
Speaker 4 (49:18):
It's Steve de Sager. He's got much trend And that.
Speaker 9 (49:21):
Was a best of nine series. I believe here was
the best of here. We were clamoring for a best
of nine this past week or so. Sweet Risburg. By
the way, for your Chicago White Sox apparently did play
the next year after throwing the World Series, and then
everybody was taken out. Then the eight men were literally out.
As for college football, we had three games tonight. They're
now all three final because South Florida has just won
(49:44):
at Florida Atlantic forty four to twenty one, yukon six
and three after beating Georgia State thirty four to twenty seven,
and on half ass one at fifteenth range Boise State
Broncos riped San Diego State fifty six twenty four. It
was a twenty eight nothing lead in the second quarter.
Boise State seven and one on the season. This was
a Mountain West matchup. Boise State star running back Ashton
(50:06):
Genty is up to twenty rushing touchdowns this season. He
has over fifteen hundred yards on the ground in eight games.
Thirty one carries Tonight one hundred forty nine yards and
two scores. Saturday on Fox TV, it's number three Penn
State hosting number four Ohio State noon Eastern time. Penn
State quarterback Drew Aller is expected to play after last
(50:26):
week's leg injury. By the way, Grand Canyon University within
two years will join the Mountain West Conference, which is
losing five members to the new PAC twelve, including Boise State.
Speaker 7 (50:36):
Soon.
Speaker 9 (50:36):
The Phoenix school was going to join the West Coast Conference,
especially for basketball, but Gonzaga is leaving that league for
the PAC twelve to the NFL. Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson
was cleared to play Sunday. He'd miss practice Wednesday and
Thursday with back end knee problems. Saints quarterback Derek Carr
will return Sunday. He's missed three games with an oblique injury,
but was able to practice all this week. New Orleans
(50:58):
has lost six in a row. In the NBA, we
have two late games currently eight minutes to go at Minnesota.
It's the Timberwolves edging the Nuggets one hundred to ninety six,
and it's mid third quarter at Portland thunder at four
and oh. This year leading against the Blazers eighty three
seventy eight. New York won easily at Detroit Boston now
(51:19):
five and one, was a winner at Charlotte Cleveland six
and oh beat Orlando, and the Lakers won at Toronto
one thirty one, one twenty five, Anthony Davis thirty eight points.
Lebron James had twenty seven points, ten assists and no turnovers.
Speaker 4 (51:33):
Back to you, Thank you, Steve.
Speaker 1 (51:34):
Though the Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike
Carmen live from the Tirack dot Com Studios. Well coming
up next we do it there, although we didn't do
it last week because we had, you know, Game one
of the World Sers.
Speaker 4 (51:45):
We're kind of hat to be a pretty big big deal.
Speaker 1 (51:47):
Mike and I will give you our upset special picks
for college football and the NFL. I'm putting my fourteen
and three record on the line now, Jason and Mike
Fox
