(00:50):
Go check out a brand new channel on YouTube again.
Video has been going up the last few days. Just
search Jason Smith Show and subscribe. Mike and I love
putting this content out for you every single night, or
I should say tonight. Really if I want to be
accurate and I never want to be one that we're
full of positivity on a Friday of course, it really
is the Karl Anthony Town Show with my best friend
(01:11):
Landry Shammitt. That's really what tonight show Reilly all about me.
We're all good, yeah, but not come on, guys, I
talk about the guys that had big nights tonight. I mean,
come on, man, maybe the Knicks don't need Jalen Brunson.
Maybe he's completely overrated. Because if we can have Landry
Shammitt coming off the bench to score thirty six a game,
I think we're okay.
Speaker 3 (01:30):
Well, I'm trying to tell you that all along, that
you overrated Jalen Brunson, But you know that's just me.
It also helps when you play a middling not sure
what they are.
Speaker 1 (01:41):
Miami seven and five coming into the game is really
really good. It's like playing the thunder.
Speaker 4 (01:47):
No, that's great.
Speaker 3 (01:47):
When do you guys get like a circus tour that
you have to do, because I mean, you played nothing
but home games at this point.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
This is ridiculous, dude. What do you tell dude? We've
gone over this time and again. The NBA chain the rule.
The Knicks have eighty two home games this year because
it's much more fun to play at MSG than half
the places in the in the league. So every game
is at MSG. So the lady long.
Speaker 3 (02:09):
Term deal they had with Billy Joel, he's he's kind
of taking a step back, which means the Nicks had
just filled up and taking all the oxygen.
Speaker 1 (02:17):
Well, the thing is, he'll do the off nights. It
goes Billy Joel Knicks, Billy Joel Knicks, maybe Knicks back
to back, Billy Joel Knicks, Billy Joel Knicks.
Speaker 4 (02:24):
That's how we got Captain Jack. Look at you hide
and it's all.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
You need, man, It's all you need. Every every game
is a home game for the Knicks. Every game's own
sing a little vienna and the where we go? I
scenes from an Italian restaurant.
Speaker 3 (02:36):
Hey, what are we doing after the game? I think
we're supposed to go to an Italian restaurant. I think
that's what it tells me. Knight for your guy, man.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
I mean, but you had Cat had thirty eight and
Shaman had thirty six off the bench, Josh Hart had
a triple double. There are certain teams, Mike Carmen that
understand you need to step up when it's an NBA
Cup night, and there's certain teams that just don't, and
they decide, you know what, We're just gonna lay a
big fat egg. And I'll tell you, these teams are
going nowhere in the playoffs. You kick it up for
an NBA Cup night middle of November. What are you
(03:07):
going to do in June? Come on, man, No, this
is where you need to bring. You take the rest
of the week off, right. You might have four games,
this is the only one that matters. In the multi colored,
very odd looking X ray kind of MRI tube kind
of looking courts that we have here, where guys are
(03:28):
glowing by the end of the night. I mean, that's
kind of where we're at in this wonderful thing. And
we've got the Clippers and Mavericks getting after it more
Nico Harrison scuttle, but Dirk Davitsky decided to chime in.
And then you got the Lakers on the road at
the Pelicans and they're up. But really, I mean not
showing out as you would expect on an NBA Emirates
(03:50):
Ay night. Dude. Some teams should some teams know when
to show Look. I look at these teams tonight and
I know I can I can just x these teams
out of contention, right, Like I know tonight with Orlando
beating the Nets, I can knock the Nets out of contention.
I can. I can knock them out of them being
a big time playoff team. No, but you can talk
them out knock you buried the lead, right, you got
(04:10):
a two point lead.
Speaker 3 (04:11):
Right now, he's struggling Milwaukee Bucks team battling to Charlotte
Hornets at four and seven. A loss here would send
Giannis to the Knicks tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (04:21):
I might, but yeah, but I don't know, man, I mean,
Cat had thirty eight tonight. I don't know. He's the
guy that would have to go back and cal tell
you what, Hey, just really serious. He had a big
week this.
Speaker 3 (04:31):
Week though, right because you saw that one Yammoto autograph
and then it was going to sell. I mean, that's
the fugaz Hey, let's load up a box for an
NBA you know, multi billionaire dude that's gonna gonna put
this out.
Speaker 1 (04:44):
No, but, but but let me tell you of the
you know, big storylines early this season. The biggest question
coming in for the team that was the favorite to
get to the finals in the East, Karl Anthony Towns
from someone who didn't know his role, Like the eve
of the regular season, I think he knows his role.
He has been pretty good. He is fit. He and
mccal bridges have fit into what Mike Brown has been
doing more than anybody else. Right, those are the biggest
(05:07):
things now. Playing Jalen Brunts in the final two minutes
of a game, you're down by sixteen, you know, clearly
not Mike Brown's fourteen. Maybe Tibbs was coaching that game. Yeah,
via SNA's best moment. No, not great. But Karl Anthony
Towns Hey, okay, last year was last year. You're up,
you're down, Okay, here comes Karl Anthony Towns.
Speaker 5 (05:22):
Now.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
The revenge tour of Kat.
Speaker 4 (05:24):
Gotta be kind of entertaining, though.
Speaker 3 (05:26):
I mean when we look at some of the great
quotes and podium work that we've gotten throughout the NFL
between players and coaches and well and some gms and
owners of course along the way, I mean Woody Johnson's talks,
some Jerry Jones always gives us some quips and quotes
along the way. Mara has been active. But the fact
that we go back to Opening Night with Kat, of yeah,
(05:48):
I don't know what I'm doing. I don't know what
they want me to do here. I man, that's that's
pretty damning for the start of the season from Mike Brown.
So he's trying to make his coach, which look good
as best hegan.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
So we'll have more NB. Of course, we'll continue to
follow the huge night that is in the NBA Cup. Look,
it's a cup night. Man's cup night. Just no, it's
a cup night, and everybody is showing up. It's a
cup night. Meanwhile, this story breaks late on Friday night,
and I say to myself, you know, there's sometimes when
a story is out there and no one is thinking
(06:26):
the way one person thinks the story is going, and
you really can't get them off that. Bill Belichick tonight
said he will not pursue any NFL head coaching vacancies
after his name has come up. Of course, in connection
with the vacant Giants job. He put out a statement
today saying, I have great respect and genuinely care for
the New York Giants organization and both the Mara and
(06:47):
Tish family. But his commitment to UNC football program has
never wavered. He's spelled wavered wrong, but that's okay. He's
got tremendous support from the university alumni, the entire Carolina community.
We're on to wake Forest. That's part of the statement
that he put out.
Speaker 3 (07:02):
Just a little bit ofgu Yeah, but I want to
say he put waivered out like he was getting released.
Speaker 6 (07:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (07:07):
Yeah, I being someone from the squad, that's okay. That's
kind of all those fantasy owners out there.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
Yeah yeah.
Speaker 6 (07:14):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (07:14):
And also yeah and also uh proofreied, Proofreid. Don't just
post stuff proofreed proofread stuff proofre Yeah.
Speaker 3 (07:21):
But it gives us something to laugh at because we're
nerds and grammar nerds.
Speaker 1 (07:26):
Belichick's name only came up in the media because it's
a fun thing to think about. Oh here's Belichick, of course,
the longtime defensive coordinator under Bill Parcells, the job that
probably he wanted a few years ago when people thought
he was still a good coach. Uh. That's the only
place this has come up. The only place is us
talking about it and having fun. And Belichick is, I
(07:46):
gotta put out this. I'm not gonna pursue a job
in the NFL. He saw this as an opportunity to
change the narrative that nobody wants him into saying I'm
not gonna pursue anymore, like people are calling him now
to come to the NFL. No one is calling him.
No one is That's why he's coaching at North Carolina
and not putting xes on his calendar to get past
(08:08):
Don Shula and the record for most wins all time.
That's why he's got No one is calling him. The
Giants aren't calling him. There's no insiders that have said, hey,
Lamara family has reached out, and and hey, Mike Kafka
is seen leaving Bill Belichick's house with a playbook and
with security guards. None of that is happening. This is
only going on in Bill Belichick's head and the fun
(08:29):
conversations we have here on the radio right when we
talked about this earlier this week, it was, Okay, it's
not happening. The Giants aren't stupid. Bill Belichick has lost
his fastball. There's a reason why his team was bad
with New England. He won with Brady, he couldn't win
without him. He made bad decisions, he couldn't get a
job when he left the Patriots. He had a two
interview lead and Raheem Morris, who is probably going to
(08:50):
get fired maybe sometime in the next month gets the
job ahead of him, nobody wants him. But yet now
he sees, oh, here's a chance for me to put out.
Then hey, I'm not pursuing job. Oh now I'm a
Come on. No, you're not a commodity anymore. You're not
seven and oh at North Carolina you're not nine. And
oh you're not looking at the college football player. You're underachieving.
You thought you're gonna reinvent college football, and now look
where you are. No one is pursuing Bill Belichick. This
(09:11):
was a free chance for him to make it look like, hey,
people still want me. No one. No one wants them, no,
no one. No one's saying that. No one's calling him.
It's not it's not. The phone is not ringing. Jordan
Hudson is not picking up phones going hang on, mister slatee,
hang on, mister Slaatee. Hey, mister slate, hang on, hang on,
hang on, hang on, hang on. I mean I went
flintstones there.
Speaker 4 (09:27):
I know that was good.
Speaker 1 (09:28):
I like that. None of that is happening. None of
that has happened. To get Belichick makes it seem like, hey,
hey pursuing back in the end, No, I'm here for good. Now, man, Well,
that's good because that's kind of where you are, and
we're all looking around at each other going, I'm not crazy, right,
No one's really calling him, okay, I just wanted to
make sure about that.
Speaker 3 (09:44):
No, it's funny that you bring up the Flintstones because
I was actually looking into a guy that I've done
some business with in the trading cards.
Speaker 4 (09:50):
Back in the day.
Speaker 3 (09:51):
They did a Flintstone's NFL product. He bought a non
sports lot and it showed up and he's like, Hey,
what do you think of this? I'm like, that's kind
of odd. I kind of did that. I have no
idea what it is, but I've got to do some research.
So there you go. I'd added bonus for the show
tonight with a Flinstonian reference. You want to get an
Ann mar Rock in while you're at it, that'd be
(10:11):
or Mickey Marble. Micky Marble is my favorite. Yeah, we'll
just keep going all the way through it, but get
a great gazoo in before it's all said and done.
Speaker 1 (10:21):
Yes, dumb dumbs. You could have hired Bill Belichick in
twenty nineteen. People would have liked that. Not now, dumb dumb,
but that's the thing, right for Bill Belichick.
Speaker 3 (10:30):
It serves two purposes. One for anybody that still wants
to do the thousand word thought piece in in print
or a couple of minutes of a video to say, hey,
the giants and here are the odds and whatever and
put it out there, all right. It keeps his name
circulated because they will respond to that, and it keeps
it churned up. The other is to show where you're operating,
(10:53):
at least for the moment, from a position of strength
at North Carolina where it was presumed that you were
getting fired a month ago. Right, No, I'm not. I
don't ve been leaving.
Speaker 1 (11:03):
I don't know that. That's a position of strength when
you go from I'm not I'm getting fired to I
still have a job. That's not quite the position. No no, no,
no no.
Speaker 4 (11:11):
But we were turning things around that were in a
good spot.
Speaker 1 (11:15):
Right.
Speaker 4 (11:15):
The winners of a couple in a row, you can say, well,
they only beat these two sad sack teams, including your
Syracuse Orange.
Speaker 1 (11:22):
But the two teams they beat are in the bottom
three of the aces. With me is a pretty big conference.
There's like fifty teams in it, and they.
Speaker 3 (11:29):
Have botty more games to potentially get on the plus
side and find themselves in a bowl game.
Speaker 1 (11:35):
So if you're Bill Stanford, are three and eleven many right?
Speaker 4 (11:40):
But they won't. Don't try to muck this up for him.
Right now he's feeling he's feeling Jesse. He's only one
game under five hundred right now, he's clawing back. And
if they can go and you know, win out, they're
suddenly in a bowl game. And and he's feeling that
much better about the choices that they've made in the
where the program's headed. And it puts it on some
(12:03):
more firm ground.
Speaker 3 (12:05):
And I think that's as much of all right, I
just want to try to dredge this up that maybe
someone will want to hire me in the NFL.
Speaker 4 (12:14):
No, that's that's part of it. That's fun. And for
the Giants, would you be surprised if they went that way?
I wouldn't, with the no, no no, with the way
Mara's done things, Shane running the ship to tell me
that he knows what the hell he's.
Speaker 1 (12:30):
Doing one and fifty percent of it. Jackson Dart would
hold out and say, I'm never planning I love it
here in New York I'm never playing for the Giants again.
You hire this guy, I'm not doing it all. I'm
saying somebody did right. Nobody did the Cam Newton and
Matt Jones. Man, I'm not knowing.
Speaker 3 (12:45):
Look since the red face Tom Coughlin stepped away, what
is this coach seven for with captain?
Speaker 4 (12:51):
Anything?
Speaker 1 (12:52):
Any bets?
Speaker 4 (12:53):
You know they'll go telling me everything's off the table.
Speaker 1 (12:55):
No, no, no, no, there's not happen.
Speaker 4 (12:57):
There's still a snowballs chance in hell, but.
Speaker 1 (13:00):
There's no snowball. There's no, there's no there's no snow.
There's no, there's not there's not even there's not even
condensation you could even put into a drop that could
potentially become a bit of frost that could turn into
a snowball.
Speaker 4 (13:11):
Yeah no, Look, it's pouring here.
Speaker 3 (13:13):
All we need is a little bit of elevation and
a change attempt and we get We got ourselves some snow.
But we're looking at the North Carolina side of it.
And that's really where I think he's speaking to this
because a month ago it was speculation either he's walking away,
he's getting fired. Here's all these stories behind the scenes.
They've stabilized again. They're bad opponents. But you know what,
(13:37):
they're not all going to be eight one squads that
you face and suddenly upend with some big upset, right,
You face a bunch of bums that are at your
level or below. And right now he's taking advantage of that.
So he's saying, hey, stability, and here's where we are,
here's what we're building, and we're on to Cincinnati.
Speaker 1 (13:55):
Okay, let me just take everything into account that's gone
on since he's been hired, right, Yeah, the Jordan Hudson
stuff in the offseason, the controversy surrounding the interview that
won't go away, the the petty games he's playing with
NFL evaluators. And here they are at four and five,
and yes, they're gonna have to beat three teams better
than they are to get Bowl eligible to get there.
(14:16):
Do you really think this is what North Carolina envisioned?
It's no way there's they thought not saying it is.
Speaker 4 (14:22):
This is just going to.
Speaker 1 (14:23):
Come into maybe their start. We're nine to three. The
second year, we're going to be eleven and one look.
Speaker 3 (14:27):
At this based on the schedule, right, because we did
that with this year Red Jahi, we did that with
Pete Fuchech before the season.
Speaker 4 (14:34):
We'll talk to Pete later on in the show.
Speaker 3 (14:36):
Uh, And the expectations were higher, and then you realized, how,
how should we say devoid of talent?
Speaker 4 (14:44):
This roster was he?
Speaker 1 (14:47):
He is? He has seen a spot. Now he's got
a soft spot in the last two weeks where they've
won a couple of games against two teams that are
absolutely terrible this year, and now he's looking for way
to spin the optics. So it looks like he's much
more of an asset than he's ever been. The Giants
might the Giants might want me. Meanwhile, the Giants don't
want him. North Carolina knows he's not going anywhere. They're
(15:09):
either going to fire him or he's gonna state that's it.
This is the last job he's ever gonna have in football.
Where he's on the sideline with a headset. So everybody
knows if he you know, he you know, he does
him right? You do you? Hey, whatever you're thinking, but
that's all he's trying to do. That's it.
Speaker 3 (15:26):
If you go on a walking path here in southern
California and you see a mountain lion, what are you
supposed to do?
Speaker 4 (15:31):
Make yourself, look as big as you can. Right, that's
Bill Belichick right now. I thought, it's the Mountain Lion.
You're supposed to make friends with him and give him food.
I thought, I thought, that's what you do. You see
a big cat, you want to be friends with him?
Speaker 3 (15:41):
Right, No, that's only Andres Galarraga, because otherwise he'd kick
your ass in the ring.
Speaker 1 (15:50):
You don't get that, I hear you.
Speaker 4 (15:55):
It works for barstool.
Speaker 1 (15:57):
Oh yeah, big guy. Sure, I forgot about big Guy.
I forgot about big Cat exit out about a Fresca
exit swollen dome. So don't worry. Bill Belichick is not
coming to an NFL sideline near you to ruin your team.
He is going to stay in college and and ruin
those teams. Today. Getting a new job could be so

big game this week. Well they're just not tyshit.
Speaker 7 (16:45):
I'm sorry, let me check.
Speaker 3 (16:48):
Hang on, No, it's a big spot for them. Hang on, No,
they're not in Baltimore season. They lost to the Jets
last week. Man, Come on, that's they think you don't
play a big games.
Speaker 1 (16:58):
Don't look your heads. It was Yeah, we took the
Jets for granted on that one. We won't do that again.

that's pretty easy. You get to be the play of
the day. Well that's gonna get inter Come on at
(18:32):
the twenty thirty. He's cutting back inside forty of my.
Speaker 6 (18:37):
New York.
Speaker 4 (18:39):
On my right.
Speaker 7 (18:40):
Five pay.
Speaker 1 (18:46):
That is not the play of the day. Are you
sure that did not happen tonight?
Speaker 7 (18:50):
See I didn't approve that one, Jason, No.
Speaker 1 (18:52):
Yeah. Ian Roddy, who is in for Frostberg tonight is
a fellow Jets fan like myself. Now you understand why
I say things like ty Shirt, I'm so gonna to
key your car after the show tonight. You sell me. Now,
you get it. Now, you why that's gonna happen. We
are coming up on the anniversary of it, you know.
I mean because it's it's it's it was the Black
Friday game that that happened on, So we're coming up
(19:14):
on the anniversary.
Speaker 3 (19:15):
Yeah, between that and the butt fumble, I mean, we
got Anniversary Tom more.
Speaker 1 (19:20):
Than an Indianapolis.
Speaker 2 (19:21):
The offensive court, they'd be busted, chances gets hit, the
ball is loose, and it's alive.
Speaker 1 (19:30):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (19:31):
None of those things is why we can't have nice things.
Speaker 1 (19:35):
I had to watch the Jets get their asses kicked
last night and do four hours and talk about how
good the Patriots are our best record. I don't need
this tonight, tight shure. It's a positivity. We sold the.
Speaker 3 (19:44):
Hell out of the fact that Justin Field's had a
great fantasy game positivity.
Speaker 1 (19:48):
Fright, ask Rich, let me just say this. If you
can trade Justin Field, just do it now, do it now,
don't don't don't dicker over what you could get from it.
I don't mean like, go get Cameron Dicker. I don't dicker.
Whatever you can get for get it now, get it now,
get it now, get it now, telling you get it now.
But this is the tire rack dot Com playing the dead.
Speaker 5 (20:10):
Bridges at the foul line, passes left for Clarks and
on the wicks. The's past hockey is at the pink
kitcout shammit right, quarter of three, new career high, thirty
four points for Landry Shammitt.
Speaker 1 (20:21):
Yeah, shammit, Janet, look at that, thirty six points. Here
come the next net. Shemon all day and sham it
all night.
Speaker 3 (20:28):
Go New York, Go New York. You know how to
sham it O twelve and nineteen. He was six of
twelve from three point range.
Speaker 1 (20:37):
Now we can trade Brunson for Yannis and we're gonna
be all set now we don't need him anymore.
Speaker 3 (20:41):
It's great Joe, Jannison and Cat. Okay, i'd be good.
Speaker 1 (20:47):
Maybe a three way deal where we trade Brunton and
get Luca, you know, we get we get Luca. That
that could work.
Speaker 3 (20:52):
I think, no, no, no, you can look, you can go
get whatever cast offs are there.
Speaker 4 (20:56):
In Dallas.
Speaker 3 (20:57):
We we talked about it the other day and suddenly
it's the report. You arizing they were more concerned about
being able to deal Anthony Davis. Make sure he's not hurt.
Make sure he's not hurt so we can spin him off.
Speaker 1 (21:10):
I mean that that is a little that is a
little bit insane that all of a sudden, everybody but
Cooper Flag could go in Dallas. Everybody might go and
Mark Cuban supposedly is back in the fall now and
they're talking to him. Oh my goodness, that's just such
a great story. Mark help us. We don't know what
we're doing.
Speaker 4 (21:26):
It's delicious theater.
Speaker 3 (21:27):
And then, because you know, people have nothing better to do,
and other than talk about the Emirates Cup Games, it's
the You know, if Cooper Flag were coming out next year,
he wouldn't go any better than six. Well he didn't
come out this year, right, he did. He's not still
in college. He's in the NBA. So there you go,
number one, pick shut up.
Speaker 1 (21:48):
You know, I like it before we get to we
got two big NFL games to look at in the
next few minutes. I really like that. You know, we
talk about things that that people like to say, and
even though everybody knows this that you know, do you
say it again like you're saying it for the first time,
Like you know, Ryan Fitzpatrick went to Harvard and Jeff
Fisher was on the competition committee. I like. Now the
new one is Mark Cuban doesn't run the Mavericks anymore. Yeah, no,
(22:10):
we know this, We know this. He's he sold his
interest in a team a while ago. Everybody knows Mark
Cuban doesn't run the Mavericks anymore. All sports fans know this.
There's no need to say it, like, well, you know
he doesn't run around. Yeah, we all know that. We
all know he's not that guy, and everybody knows because
of Shark Tank and stuff. He still has such a
high profile. I bet some folks didn't know that though
(22:32):
I think the average the average person might not know it,
but the average sports fan pretty sure they know it
by now.
Speaker 4 (22:39):
Well, if he didn't, I don't.
Speaker 1 (22:42):
Right after the Luca trade, Mark Cuban was a lot
of guy going. They didn't consult me on this, They
never talked to me. They didn't say one I had
no idea this was coming. You can't can't pay this
on me. No, no, no, no, no, I did not know.
Speaker 6 (22:54):
No.
Speaker 4 (22:55):
Well, I mean, I'm surprised he didn't take out full
page ads.
Speaker 1 (22:58):
How do you know he didn't. Maybe he did, and
maybe he had some sort of like a beautiful mind message.
It looked like it was just a hey, buy Maverick
season tickets, but like every third letter meant, hey, I
didn't do this. This was stupid. I would never have
traded Luca.
Speaker 3 (23:13):
No, that's true. He just made sure to point that out.
I'm surprised you didn't for this holiday season. Squeeze this,
Luca doll Mark Cuban did not trade.
Speaker 1 (23:21):
Me for the holiday season. The holiday so we'll have
more NBA on the way. But again, football Friday. Here
we are big games to look at, and let's start
with a big one because I'll tell you what. Detroit
and Philadelphia, this is gonna be the game where, first
of all, I want to say, weather's supposed to be
(23:42):
clear with the low of forty weather. It's a big
deal in these games when the Lions have to play
on the road and the calendar turns in November, especially
when you're worried about the time of the game. It's
not like, hey, We're not playing at one o'clock on
its Sunday games a little bit later in the day.
We're gonna play at night. It's good but supposed to
be about four degrees and clear, which means things will
(24:02):
be fine for the Lions. And if I'm telling you
that Philadelphia is bathing in controversy and dysfunction, which they are,
they are. Really. They got that great soap that lathers
up and they are just bathing in it. Their offense
is not scoring, right, they're dealing with the controversy. They
win with it, which I tremendously respect and feel it
stupid at the same time, but I respect they can do.
(24:22):
This not gonna happen against the Lions. The Lions offense
is humming again. Dan Campbell taking over play calling duties
that seemed to put a huge spark in the offense.
Now they're going to win this game because the Eagles
won't be able to stay with them. The Lions will
just put too many points on the board and it's
going to be the game where Hey, we reaffirm the
Lions as a big Super Bowl favorite because so far
(24:45):
this year they've been prone to the stinker. Right. We
mentioned this earlier this week. Certain teams where you think, okay,
by this point they would show you their real contenders,
the Lions, the Bills. But some of these things, hey,
they can put out a stinker for you. It's like, wow,
there was no reason for that stinker. Yeah, but we
got Okay. The Lions, that how it goes for them sometimes.
But the defense is gonna continue to play really well.
(25:08):
They're gonna continue Philadelphia's spiral offensively. They jump back to
an elite super Bowl favorite. This is Lions, and I
don't even know that it's gonna be gonna be in
single digits, and the Lions win this by double digits.
I think it's a runaway game in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 4 (25:22):
It's funny because I'm going the opposite way.
Speaker 3 (25:24):
Of course, Eagles as a minor favorite over under, sitting
at a forty nine and a half, So we got
some entertainment here. Look, the Dan Campbell led play calling
came against Washington. You might as well have handed me
the play card for that game with what Washington's running
out there on both sides of the ball right now.
(25:45):
So I don't put much stock in that. The AJ
Brown think is interesting, fascinating, don't start me in fantasy.
We did the I Watch a Flex podcast, I go
does he count as a ninja? I don't even know,
Like he's a guy that is like is he a
sleeper because you rank him high because well he's Aj
Brown and it's the Eagles and whatever. It's like, but
are you expecting anything great? Generally not this week.
Speaker 4 (26:08):
The ball doesn't hit the back of the defensive back
as he's going down the field, though he'll grab a
couple DeVante Smith eats and sat Quan Barkley. While I'm
not optimistic that he has a monster game, they do
enough to take care of Jared Goff, who's been middling
to date.
Speaker 1 (26:25):
Meanwhile, so we're on opposite sides of the Lions and
the Eagles, one of the more interesting games because of
the drama that's come along with it this week. Right
earlier this week, Falcons quarterback Michael Pennock Junior doing a
press conference asked about who helps him on the sideline
with football things, and he says, nobody helps me. You know,
I talk I talked to my fiance, and I have
(26:45):
coaches that call me from high school, but nobody really
helps me. Wow, dude, nobody helps you. Don't you have
a full coaching staff there in Atlanta. Nobody helps you.
What the hell do you mean today? Finally, Raheem Morris,
the Falcons head coach, and hey, wait a minute, these
comments are misrepresented. Don't do anything to this kid. Stop
looking for a young man? Yeah, uh, misrepresented? No one's
(27:07):
helping him. Oh okay, I don't know how that's misrepresented,
but I like how Raheem Morris said, stop looking for
stuff on a young man. You don't need this stuff
on him. Wait, hang on a second. This is not
anybody looking for stuff on him. This is him saying
he doesn't have any help. This is on you. This
is Raheem Morris trying to pull a big deflection where
this is not really about me. This is about the
evil media going through different different avenues on Michael Penix Junior. No,
(27:29):
Michael Pennix Junior is telling you he does not have
the support staff that he needed. He was asked about
it today and he wouldn't talk about it. You would
think if Michael Pennick Junior wanted this stuff and say,
wait a minute, Wait a minute, wait a minute, I
got a lot of help here. I talked to my OC,
I talked to my quarterbacks coach all the time. You
would think he would have said stuff, but he declined,
just saying everybody in the Falcons facility knows the truth.
(27:50):
Why would you not do that? I mean read, Why
would you not at least put out a statement saying, hey,
this was said, I meant X, Y and Z explained away.
Instead he had the coaches saying, we talked to Mike
all the time. One coach said, I talked to Mike
more than I talked to my wife. I don't know
what you're talking about.
Speaker 2 (28:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (28:05):
The fact the quarterback said it and he wouldn't back
it up tells me that there's a big issue. No
matter how you want to paint this says, oh, it'll
go after a kid. No, Rahee Morris, that's about you.
Speaker 3 (28:14):
No, But in Draheem Morris and Zach Robinson, it's who's
the quarterback coaches, DJ Williams and it's on Captain Kirk Cousins. Basically,
what you're saying is you got a bunch of empty
suits and empty chairs in a meeting room. Is this
like Caleb Williams last year where he would be sitting
watching film by himself.
Speaker 1 (28:34):
I don't see how Raheem Morris makes it to the
end of the season. I thought he was if they
had a bad day overseas last week and they didn't
score points, he was gonna get fired there. But they lost.
But it wasn't a you know, they didn't lose thirty
eight to ten. But man, I'll tell you what you lose.
You lose another game here to Carolina and you're three
(28:54):
and seven. I mean, really, you've outscored the Saints by
thirteen points. That's how bad your offense is. Because your
offense is too talented to not put up more points,
to not be more dynamic, right, too much young talent
on this team, And are they gonna just give away
the season? I can't see it. You know, there's still playoff,
but the NFC is very top heavy, But those last
(29:15):
couple of playoff spots, Man, the Cowboys have playoff hopes
and they're three and five. Yeah, I mean, I really,
I find it hard to believe that we're gonna see
Rahie Morris make it past Thanksgiving as Falcons head coach,
simply because offensively they have too much talent to be
this bad. And that's not changing and you're not gonna
give away the rest of the season.
Speaker 3 (29:33):
Well, they're losing this week. Carolina comes in getting three
and a half. They beat them thirty to nothing the
first time. Ric o'downell a little bit chewba hub or
they're gonna run all over them. Look, they're not getting
a lot in the passing game. We've talked about where
Bryce Young is and what he hasn't been able to
translate into big points. But they can play a little
(29:54):
bit of defense, and outside of Bijon Robinson and Drake London,
what seem like a pretty robust group of receivers and options. Man,
Kyle Pitts, come on, you know what we get from him?
Is this the game that he wakes up? Is this
in here in week eleven?
Speaker 1 (30:11):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (30:11):
No, I'm not going that route. And for Michael Penix,
he's gonna feel the pressure of what he said. The
weight is on him. No matter how much he talks
to his fiance and the old college coaches or anybody
he's playing video games with on Twitch. He's gonna get
run up at home and it's gonna be bad for
the Falcons.
Speaker 1 (30:29):
This is a bad week, man, I'm telling you with
Pennick saying I don't get any help and not stepping
up and the coaches having to step up for him
and try to deflect this that it's not about them. Yeah,
this could be it. This could be every week, It
could be the last game forhe Morris as Falcons head coach.
It really could.
Speaker 3 (30:46):
Nine touchdowns, three picks thus far for Penix, completing just
fifty eight point eight percent of his past attempts.
Speaker 1 (30:55):
Exit out about a Fresco exit swallowing Dome. We got
more previews coming up, but right now to find out
what's trending in the wide world of sports from someone
who's been called the Landry Shammitt of Fox Sports.
Speaker 7 (31:05):
Radio, Why thank you.
Speaker 1 (31:06):
Whether he's in the starting lineup or off the bench,
he's gonna give you points. Yeah, with Steve to.
Speaker 7 (31:11):
Say, we are starting with NBA.
Speaker 9 (31:12):
And by the way, Rick Carlisle X of Dallas has
been on the competition committee. I believe he also does
not own the Dallas Mavericks.
Speaker 3 (31:21):
Oh jes thank you here you to confirm that, didn't
he go to high school in Dallas with Matthew Stafford.
Speaker 1 (31:27):
No, yes, yes, you're right about that. Yeah, you're right.
Speaker 7 (31:30):
You're right, Well, we did have a Nick's home win
against Al Gore.
Speaker 1 (31:34):
And Tommy Lee Jones are roommates. You know that.
Speaker 7 (31:37):
I did hear that? Yes? Did you know you should
be first Wicked? From last year? It was only part one?
Speaker 1 (31:43):
Whoa did you know Darth Vader is Luke's dad? That's amazing? Whoa, whoa, whoa.
Speaker 9 (31:51):
That's par for the course on this show. New York
Next beat Miami won forty to one thirty two. Karl
Anthony Towns thirty nine points, no turnovers, Landry sham At
thirty six points. Jalen Brunson of the Knicks was out
with a sprain. Diakoognanobi of New York left early with
a strain hamstring. Orlando did not have Polo Bancaro out
tonight with a strang groin. Magic beat Brooklyn one oh
(32:13):
five ninety eight. The Nets now one and eleven. Detroit
Pistons are eleven and two. They won their ninth straight game,
beating Philadelphia one fourteen to one oh five. Tyrese Maxia
Philly thirty one points in the loss, but from three
point range he was two of eleven at Minnesota thirty
points for Anthony Edwards in a home win over Sacramento,
won twenty four to one ten. The King's now three
(32:35):
and ten. Dementis Sabonis of Sacramento thirty four points in
the loss. Houston's eight and three after ripping Portland won
forty to one sixteen. Kevin Durant with thirty points in
progress midway through overtime. At Milwaukee, the Bucks a leading
Charlotte one thirty seven to one thirty one. kN Kinnepp
will having a great rookie year so far, thirty two
(32:57):
points for the Hornets. Lakers have won at New Orleans
one eighteen to one oh four. New Orleans now two
to ten this year. Luka Donsi twenty four points in
the LA victory. And the Clippers are winning early fourth
quarter at Dallas ninety six to eighty six, twenty seven
points for James Harden of the Clips.
Speaker 1 (33:15):
You save that very surprise. The Clippers are winning in
them shocker.
Speaker 7 (33:20):
No team has looked older or slower.
Speaker 1 (33:22):
Yeah, that is true.
Speaker 7 (33:23):
They're up ten at Dallas.
Speaker 9 (33:24):
While that really is an indictment of Dallas, isn't it,
Because they'll be going to three and ten if they
lose this home game tonight Denvers, Christian Brown could miss
at least six weeks with a sprained ankle. Nicola jokiccha
the Nuggets, questionable for Saturday with a spraying wrist. In
college basketball, number twenty one, Arkansas edge Samford seventy nine
to seventy five. TCU at home leads number six Michigan
(33:49):
forty nine forty three, about eleven minutes to go in
that game. Also in progress, fifteenth ranked UCLA leads number
five Arizona late first half in LA twenty four to
twenty one. The late game in about a half an hour.
Nineteenth rank Gonzaga plays at Arizona State. In women's college hoops,
West Virginia upset number fifteen Duke NHL overtime wins for
(34:12):
Carolina and Nashville. And there's college football on Fox TV tonight.
It's now eighth ranked Oregon up twenty eight six over Minnesota,
about thirty seconds left till halftime and five minutes left
in the game. Clemson is in the lead at number
twenty Louisville twenty to nineteen, Clemson four and five this year.
Speaker 1 (34:29):
Back to you, well, Stam, I have one more question
for you. I don't know if you can you can
look this up or get the great researcher Sarah Langs.
Can you tell me has Samford University ever played Stanford
in either football or basketball?
Speaker 7 (34:42):
That you you'd think you could look that one up?
Speaker 1 (34:45):
Okay, all right? My second one is has Sanford University
ever played Stamford University in football or basketball?
Speaker 7 (34:51):
Is that the same question?
Speaker 1 (34:53):
I think that should be like those three teams should
play every year, like have their own Commander in Chief trophy.
Speaker 9 (34:58):
Hey, wee, that was a Fred sand University that we
just missing.
Speaker 3 (35:01):
I'm actually wearing a Fred Sanford shirt. Remember, by the way,
it is cowboy hat day at the Ducks.
Speaker 1 (35:08):
Well, Steve, I don't want to I don't want to
out be on this, but I mean they did have
Fred Sanford University. But then when the players kept having
heart attacks on the field, uh, you know, and then
it turned out to be all fake. Uh, they decided
to get.
Speaker 4 (35:23):
Advantage.
Speaker 1 (35:24):
Yeah they didn't. They got banned forever. I mean, like
you can fake, you know, injuries, but you keep faking
heart attacks and eventually they're gonna get mad and they
got banned from doing that.
Speaker 4 (35:34):
How about that?
Speaker 1 (35:35):
Yeah, something you didn't know, right, didn't know so far I'm.
Speaker 7 (35:38):
Not seeing any, but I shall keep looking.
Speaker 1 (35:40):
All right, Very good, Thank you, Steve. Coming up next, Hey,
some big college football games tomorrow. What quarterback is ready
for his Heisman moment? That's next Jason and Mike Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (35:57):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.
Speaker 1 (36:04):
Hello, Welcome in Side hour two The Jason Smith Show
with my bass friend Mike Harmon. For over forty years,
Tirerack's been uping customers find the right tires for how,
what and where they drive. Shipped fast and free, backed
by free Road, has a protection with convenient installation options
like mobile tire installation. Tirerack dot Com is the way
tire buying should be well. An elimination game happening right
(36:29):
now in the college football playoff, Louisville at seven and two,
needs to pull this one out over Clemson. Louisville has
missed two field goals on their last two possessions, including
after taking over on Clemson's twenty three yard line after
a muffed punt snap. So now Clemson's gonna punt the
(36:51):
football back to Louisville with thirty nine seconds left to go.
Louisville's got to get a field goal they want to
stay alive in the college football play off. Dabo Sweeney
could get back to five and five and Clems is
looking to be Bowl eligible. But man, you don't see
teams miss two field goals like that in a row too,
And and the second one was a gimme. Uh Clemson
(37:12):
celebrating on the field after the missed field goal, Dabbo
was hugging everybody. I'm like, am I watching Aaron Glenn?
Didn't do it? Dance dancing on the sideline? Dude, you
still have to get a first down. You still have
some time. And I'm like, the game's not over. There's
not three seconds left. You're gonna kneel on the football
once like there's still a minute some odd left and
(37:32):
Louisville's got two timeouts. And why you're jumping around on
the sideline and hugging everybody? Come on, man, you've you've
coached a game or two before, Dabbo, I know you have.
Speaker 3 (37:42):
Might be celebrating after that punt that didn't get blocked
this time or dropped or anything. As we've got a
flag on the play at thirty seconds remaining. But yeah,
absolute chaos and and what do we always say, you
never let it go uh to to the judges if
you can help it, and don't let it go to
your college kicker.
Speaker 1 (38:03):
Yeah, I'll tell you now. Look I mentioned Aaron Glenn.
Then just real fests. This is a great headline today.
I'm coming off the Jets loss last night. Aaron Glenn
said he is quote evaluating everything, including a possible quarterback change.
I'm like, okay, and this is where I go to
my I say to myself again, the job is too
much for Aaron Glen.
Speaker 3 (38:23):
It would have been fun if he said I'm evaluating
the meaning of life or something like a grander scale.
Speaker 1 (38:28):
You know, like like for the whole season he's been
don't ask me about the quarterback. You know, I'm playing
koy with the quarterback like it's college and I'm they're
going to prepare for Justin Fields and to Rod Taylor
all now I feel like he's broken and he's just
like I'm evaluating everything now. To be honest with you, like, okay,
I've gone past the bravado and the games I'm playing
and now I realize, oh man, I'm really out of
(38:51):
my death as a head coach, and I have to
really start looking at things like That's how I look
at the statement today again, I look at everything through
through different colored glasses with him, because I know he
just you know, he's just not up for the job.
He's in over his head and he keeps making mistakes
that you don't think that that first year coach, even
first year coaches are going to make. And to hear this,
oh now I'm evaluating everything. Dude, you were two and eight.
(39:13):
When when were you not evaluating everything? When were you
not evaluating everything? Like you you were just letting it
go right now now you're not. I mean, I don't know.
I don't know what to say at this point. I'm like, okay, okay,
just call call USC, get Lincoln Riley, you know, call
call Notre Dame, get Marcus Freeman out. You know, do
so spend a lot of money something they can't change
the owner because what he chance is terrible. But you know,
(39:35):
I'm pretty sure that the next head coach he can't
be any more out of his depth than Aaron glenn Is.
Speaker 3 (39:41):
I had of a big game against Pitt It's funny
that Freeman has to answer question after sign and give extension.
It's like, let me alone, let me alone. I got
a game to coach. But what would have been funny
for Aaron Glenn is if he really leaned into the bit,
you know, being asked about, you know, the evaluation process.
It's like, you know, I have a meeting scheduled with
later on. We're gonna talk about our options.
Speaker 1 (40:03):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, Rich Seman, He's gonna tell tell us
what to do. Rich is gonna tell.
Speaker 4 (40:07):
Us like he's the great Oracle of jets.
Speaker 1 (40:11):
I'm evaluating everything. Oh okay, but you weren't evaluating before
now Okay, okay, because it was so good before now,
everything was going just so good before now, Like, man, again,
another year. I'm like, I'm just waiting till the end
of the year.
Speaker 3 (40:23):
Wait, I mean, I don't know what I'm I mean,
we all I know that in different parts of our lives,
you just need a certain period of time to pass.
You know, when my kids have in class they don't
particularly like at school, I always say, you know what,
in a couple of months, you'll have a different teacher.
Speaker 4 (40:38):
Do the best you can succeed and proceed move on.
Speaker 3 (40:41):
Likewise, this jet season, at some point we're gonna flip
to January and it's gonna be playoff football. You're not
gonna have to worry about that, Oh no, no, don
and you'll start looking ahead to Nick's basketball even more.
You're not gonna be paying attention to any of the
Syracuse stuff, and then you'll be waiting on.
Speaker 4 (40:59):
Springs, so it'll be great.
Speaker 1 (41:03):
Quick update from college football. You can scratch Louisville. Clemson's
gonna win this twenty to nineteen. Louisville couldn't get a
first down on their final drive, so Clemson's gonna go
to five and five. Louisville's gonna fall to seven and
three and out of the top twenty five most likely. Again,
these are the weeks we talked about it last week.
Starting last week, these are elimination weeks for the college
(41:25):
football playoff, and you're seeing it happen real quick question though,
as they were hugging, hugging it up, and Dabbo's hugging
and running up and down the sideline happier than I
think I've ever seen him, even when they were winning
big things. Just to crawl back to five hundred.
Speaker 4 (41:40):
Here there was a.
Speaker 3 (41:41):
Guy wearing a full on blue shirt. He doesn't stay
which one of these is not like the other? Everybody
else is in orangees in this giant blue blue hat,
blue shirt.
Speaker 4 (41:51):
The whole night of why is he special? Why does
he get a different look?
Speaker 1 (41:57):
I just like that Dabbo spent more time hugging people
in the last five minutes that he did actually coaching.
Speaker 4 (42:02):
No, that's true.
Speaker 1 (42:03):
He's hugging everybody after the first missfield goal, He's hugging
everybody after the second missed field goal. Now he's hugging
everybody after they won.
Speaker 3 (42:10):
Well, it is the Thanksgiving season. It was the first
fourth quarter comeback win this season. They were one to
five entering tonight according to the graphic that they put
up at the end of the telecast.
Speaker 1 (42:21):
Here.
Speaker 3 (42:22):
Yeah, for Dabble, I think the fact that he gets
back to five hundred, because remember he's taken a lot
of incoming for the way they've decided to operate in
the new nil and re constituted college football slate. So
he gets himTo five hundred, where he's been every year
as a coach at Clemson. So yeah, a lot of
(42:44):
hugs going on this might be their biggest win in
this Thanksgiving season.
Speaker 1 (42:48):
So we got more college football on the way. We
got Pete few tax stop it buy next to our
preview in all the big games with us. But speaking
of big games, the NFL has a slew of them
this week. In the NFL, you gotta look and find
the game. Sometimes you just get a bunch and you
say thank you for this smorgasboard. We're getting a pre
Thanksgiving treat. No game bigger than the two best teams
(43:13):
in the NFL going at it on Sunday, the Seahawks
and the Rams. After this, there's gonna be one best
team in the NFL to one man leave one gets
their head cut off like.
Speaker 3 (43:24):
They're theah Oh no you want to go like why
you're mixing between Thundernome and Highland.
Speaker 1 (43:31):
Sure?
Speaker 3 (43:31):
Oh yeah, yeah, I sing a few bars of who
wants to Live Forever.
Speaker 1 (43:37):
Look, we talked about it last night. If we're doing
power rankings, these are the two teams at the top
because they're solid everywhere and and it's it's really impressive
to see the way that very workman like the way
the Seahawks are winning games, blowing teams out. Uh Darnold
being very aggressive downfield. Matthew Stafford on a heater at
the top of the MVP conversation. These are the two
(43:59):
best teams right now Sunday. The Rams win this game.
The defense is gonna win the game. Basically, I have
more confidence that the Rams defense will come up big
and slow down Darnald enough than I do that the
Seahawks defense will be able to put enough stoppages in
the Rams offense. You can still harass Sam Darnald from
time to time. You get pressure on him and he
(44:20):
doesn't see what he sees downfield. Sometimes he misses that receiver.
He likes to go to that first read all the time,
and the Rams are gonna be able to make it
difficult for him. You can still do it. You have
to have a really good defense. The Rams are one
of the top three defense in the NFL, best defense
in the NFC. Stafford's heater is gonna continue. But the
Rams will go heavier on the ground than you think
(44:41):
they will. Because Sean McVay is always gonna have a
little wrinkle in his game plan, and they've been playing
at such a high level. You expect one thing you're
gonna get a really heavy dose of running in the
first half. They control the game, they win. I see
a couple of turnovers from Sam Donald, and we're talking
about the Rams being the best team in football.
Speaker 3 (45:00):
As long as those running backs don't put it on
the carpet. For the year, they are minus four in
the turnover differential. Are the Seattle Seahawks. It's funny we
did the weekly edition of the iWatch Flex podcast earlier
and going into Sam Darnald a little bit with his
numbers to this point in translating them into fantasy purposes.
(45:21):
He's twenty first in the NFL for fantasy points per game,
which means twenty first for statistics, which is not what's
that good? So potential there, and they can't run the
ball right, my opia sets in with JSN no horton
this week, more Cooper Cup and then Rashid Shaheed looking
(45:44):
to make a bigger impact. Couple of rushing attempts last
week and just a single catch. I'll take Seattle's d
to rise up and give them enough plus two and
a half on the road at the Rams forty eight
and a half, so expect some fireworks there. Stafford's just
been insane that has to cool a little bit, whether
(46:06):
it's by design or not. But then I'm still looking
for Seattle to be opportunistic defensively to make them play.
Speaker 1 (46:13):
On the other sides. We are for Seattle and the
Rams The Big Game Part two this week. Two teams
that well, two teams I believed in much more a
week ago than I do now. Yes, we're gonna talk
Bucks and the Bills. The biggest thing in this game
is whose issues suddenly run deeper? Right? Buffalo one of
those teams that stinker prone Tampa Bay was. Boy, they
(46:36):
were really something in the first half of the season.
Now the last couple of weeks. What's happened to them?
Buffalo being at home, it's a big deal in this game.
But I think they have a better shot of getting
it right than Tampa does. Maybe Tampa's starting to get
figured out a little bit, you know, missing the weapons.
As long as they have Baker Mayfield's been able to
keep the Bucks afloat, but now you can only do
(46:58):
so much. Really, they miss Bucky Irving. Getting him back
would be a huge, huge boost because he's the guy
that was bailing Baker Mayfield out a lot during the season.
Some of those game winning drives. At least twice was
a second down or a third down dump off to
Bucky Irving that he turned into a twelve or thirteen
yard game. Right, This is he's the guy they really
missing that offense. And maybe you get a little bit
(47:19):
of a glimmer for Tampa Bay this week. But I
can't see Buffalo at home losing this week after what
they did last week against Miami. This is more of
a get right game for Buffalo. I think they get
back to basics and running the football a lot with
James Cook, no Dalton Kincaid, but I think they'll be
all right this week. I would really be surprised to
see Buffalo lose two in a row like this. Gonna
(47:40):
be closer, more points than you think in this game.
I love love the offense in both and love the over,
but Buffalo takes.
Speaker 3 (47:46):
This forty nine and a half your total Buffalo five
and a half point favorites at home. You mentioned no Kincaid,
Still no Bucky Irving, which means more Sean Tucker Hugh Hua. Yeah,
so more of him alongside Raseean White. Still waiting for
or updates on McMillan and trying to get that receiving
corps as complete as they can.
Speaker 4 (48:06):
You've got and you've got Abuca.
Speaker 3 (48:08):
Buffalo is still a top ten defense overall, still smarting
from last week. I mean they took a lot of
incoming and deservedly so. I mean that was a big
spot Miami left for dead and you're letting him off
the mat the last couple of weeks playing inspired, I
guess from Mike McDaniel. This week we export the Dolphins
to Madrid, so that you got that going for you.
(48:30):
But Buffalo at home defensively enough to frustrate Baker Mayfield.
I cited some stats on Sam Darnold Mayfield the last
five six games, looking very much the same, wishing, wanting,
hoping for some level of continuity.
Speaker 4 (48:44):
He does not find it in front of the Bills.
Speaker 1 (48:46):
Faithful. Yeah, I mean, it's it's gonna be. It's gonna
be a entertaining game, and maybe this is the start
of the way back for Tampa because look, the first
half of the season, Mayfield was playing like an MVP candidate.
It was maybe the Bucks are the best team in
the NFL. But eventually, okay, no, Mike Evans, you know,
Chris Godwin Okay, making it work with all different kinds
of wide receivers and a bunch of Jags. I mean,
(49:08):
that's really something that Baker Mayfield's able to do this.
But when you start having to do that for a
long time, eventually you're going to get figured out a bit.
But clearly we know that losing Bucky Irving was the
big one, right. He did it without Evans, doing it
without Godwin all but Bucky Irving was the guy once
he got hurt. Oh wait a minute, this was the
big key to the Bucks offense, especially in the passing game,
(49:30):
so him coming back would be a big boost for them.
But you know, regardless, it doesn't matter. I think they
can still score a lot because Buffalo's defense is not great.
But I mean, if they lose a second game in
a row like this, I'd almost have to say, I
don't know the Buffalo could win a playoff game. I'd
be actually at that point for the Bill. Two weeks ago,
I said the Bill should easily rise to the top
(49:51):
of the AFC over the course of the next month
because the Bill, the Bills are too talented to not
be there, especially when every single team that thinks they
were a content in the AFC has issues. Everybody's got issues,
but the Bills, Hey, they should get there now. I
feel like if they lose this game, it's what the hell? Man?
What I mean, what can you say about no one's
riding to the rescue at this point to make this
(50:13):
team any better.
Speaker 3 (50:13):
Yeah, they sit at eleventh and total defense given up
twenty one point nine points per game. Offensively, Kincaid was
looking like he was going to become the number one guy.
And I love Khalil Shakir to move the chains and
for PPR leagues and all of that. He's a nice, steady,
reliable target. But Keon Goleman is a guy on and
off your radar doesn't show up for you on a
(50:37):
week to week basis. Even for James Cook, you've had
some disappearing acts where they haven't been able to get
the ground game going. So for Josh Allen, he might
have to don that cape that he hadn't had to
do much in the first half of the season. We
might need to see more of that if they want
to contend and battle with New England for the division crown,
(50:58):
owing to Tampa for second though you know he had
a lot of fourth quarter heroics early on in the season.
You mentioned some of what Bucky Irving was doing for them.
You lose Mike Evans that he ain't coming back off
the collarbone, So that's a huge loss for Mayfield, right
steady as they go there and Abuka has been a
(51:18):
great fine But you also as we do for New England. Look,
you can only beat who's on the schedule. That's the
truism of all truisms. But the reality is they beat
a bunch of also rans. When they've played and gone
up in weight class, they've generally gotten punched in the face.
Speaker 4 (51:35):
And I think perhaps that's what happens this week.
Speaker 1 (51:38):
Exit out about a Fresca exit swalling down the Jason

Harmon five minutes ago in the fourth quarter, Oregon getting
set for their big showdown against USC. They are thumping
Minnesota a big lack of boat rowing tonight forty two
thirteen Oregon with the league just again. They're just killing
clock right now. Minnesota will be hopping mad when they
(53:29):
face your Northwestern Wildcats next weekend.
Speaker 4 (53:31):
Mike Wildcats hosting Michigan big noon kickoff.
Speaker 1 (53:37):
Field. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (53:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (53:38):
The experiment of the small field on the lake front
is done a couple of games at Wrigley, so you
got that going. By the way, the spread on this
one was twenty six and a half, so that last
touchdown really did matter.
Speaker 1 (53:51):
Yep, yep, But you never know. There's four and a
half nights ago. Minnesota's got the football, you never know
for incontented affording rantically they can move things in the
other direction.
Speaker 4 (54:05):
We'll see joining us.
Speaker 1 (54:07):
Now in the hot line. Nobody better look ahead to
all these big games tomorrow than the owner, editor, proprietor
Grand Pooba of College Footballnews dot com. You're one stop
shopping for everything college football, all the picks, all the prognostications,
all the analysis. He's on Twitter at Pete feutech as well.
It is the aforementioned Pete fu Tech. Happy Friday, man,
(54:29):
what's happening.
Speaker 10 (54:30):
Oh, what's happening is really Minnesota? You're putting in your
backups now with you know, I don't know, just you
don't need another touchdown here. Maybe it would be kind
of nice if they did. By the way, you Northwestern
isn't hosting Michigan. They're playing again on a baseball field.
That doesn't count.
Speaker 4 (54:49):
They get the revenue, don't they.
Speaker 10 (54:52):
I don't know how that, I guess, But like, I
don't know, you have a perfectly nice you have the
most beautiful setting in college football. I get it. They
have to, like, you know, when to go finish the renovations.
Speaker 6 (55:01):
And all that kind of stuff.
Speaker 10 (55:02):
But like that spot on the lake is awesome, and
it's it's a baseball field, the Novelties office, it's.
Speaker 6 (55:12):
It's it's.
Speaker 10 (55:13):
I just I'm not a fan of the whole baseball thing,
baseball field thing.
Speaker 6 (55:16):
It's a gimmick. Play play on this on the campus.
That's just me.
Speaker 10 (55:20):
But I digress. I'm shaking my fists out of cloud
Is and it says your Gophers are punting here for
some reason.
Speaker 1 (55:27):
I think I know where PHU Tech is leaning in
this game. I played, sure, No.
Speaker 10 (55:33):
My sensibility is actually offended because the one the fumble
through the end zone that was still counted as a
touchdown and just probably one of the worst calls that
you can imagine another touchdown. But Oregon was going to
win this game by like fifty anyway, so it didn't
really matter. But this game is just sort of egregious.
But Donte more was awesome. You look, if this Oregon
(55:55):
shows up the rest of the way, it is not
played like this all year. This is a team we've
been kind of waiting for now. Minnesota is bad on
the road, but at least Oregon showed that when the
weather conditions are right, they can be really awesome.
Speaker 1 (56:09):
And that is that's future Jet. Dante more Pete. Just
to give me the future Jet.
Speaker 10 (56:13):
There's like ten guys, you know what, watch college football tomorrow.
Every game, every single quarterback is the number one pick
in the draft, like everyone says, like it's Arch, it's
tight Simpson even though he's not ready, Like you know,
it's Julian Spain whenever he comes out. It's Mendoza, it's
Leonora Sellers. It's like there's like twelve guys who are
(56:36):
going to be the number one just like Lane Kiffin
is going to go and coach eight teams at once.
There's gonna be like twelve number one overall Drafttick quarterbacks.
Speaker 1 (56:45):
All right, well, let's start with one of the guys
you just mentioned. I'm looking at tomorrow. Look, the Heisman
Trophy race is all over the place. It's not going
to be a stat year. It's gonna be a year
where we're looking for a Heisman moment from somebody. And Pete.
I kind of like what I think I'm gonna see
Ty Simpson do against Oklahoma. Big game, National TV, biggest
game of the day. Uh. I like Alabama. I like
(57:06):
Simpson to have a big game and suddenly and maybe
a new name at the front of that race.
Speaker 10 (57:10):
It's gonna come down to the conference championships. Who's gonna
have the big day when everyone's watching when it really matters,
because it's always there's always that one big moment that okay,
you know, Kysons might have a big day and then
all of a sudden, the Auburn defense has other ideas
in a couple of weeks, you know, so you kind
of we're gonna have to wait a little bit on this,
but look, you know, in that this is gonna be
(57:31):
the fun part about Alabama going forward because this is
what they do there again and.
Speaker 6 (57:36):
Just before there.
Speaker 10 (57:37):
It's a one trick team, but it's a really good
trick and they don't.
Speaker 6 (57:41):
Have a running game.
Speaker 10 (57:42):
The defense for Alabama is good, It's is very.
Speaker 6 (57:45):
Good, but this is basically what Washington was a couple
of years ago.
Speaker 10 (57:49):
It's a lot of downfield passing. It's a high octeam offense,
and Simpson's been great for this attack. And we're about
to see this tomorrow because Oklahoma has a pass rush
and it might bother him a little more than normal,
but this will be a fun game.
Speaker 3 (58:05):
How about the battle between the names Arch Manning and
Gunner Stockton. Manning coming off a big game against Vanderbilt
Georgia nearly a touchdown favorite fifty the over under and
looking up stuff for this game and kind of breaking
it down the fact that Georgia has done so little
in terms of forcing turnovers for what we normally expect
(58:28):
out of that defense.
Speaker 6 (58:29):
Feet there's no path rush.
Speaker 10 (58:31):
It's the weirdest thing. And their defense is still pretty good.
By the way. I'm ready for Gunner Stockton to go
to the NFL or because I don't trust myself thats
how to spell his name with an E or an
A like it just everything. It's kind of like Jameis Winston.
Speaker 6 (58:45):
I should have learned that by now.
Speaker 10 (58:47):
I still don't trust it every time I write it.
But yeah, I mean, look, George is the one team
out there that has the talent and the ability from
the SEC to I think make a deep run or
win it all. Trust Alabama because again that that passing
game is it doesn't work one day if there's a problem.
I certainly don't really trust ole Miss because that that
(59:09):
style of player they do, that defense is going to
get gassed at some point in the college football playoffs.
But man, this this Georgia team, when it works and
they start to roll, that's that's it. They got that
combination of talent and ability, and I think they're just
starting to come into their own and just starting to
figure it out. But let's figure this out tomorrow, because
(59:29):
look Texas. Texas still only has just the one loss
in the SEC. It's right there in the mix for
big things, and they have a defense, they don't have
a running game, and let's see if we get a
big day out of arch Well.
Speaker 1 (59:41):
That's the thing, Pete. Arch Manning has been really good
the last couple of weeks. Maybe we just took them
five or six games and we're getting the good arch
Manning now.
Speaker 10 (59:49):
It's such it's I keep everyone wants their quarterback to
be awesome right away, and you're seeing this in the
NFL all the time. Why doesn't this rookie quarterback.
Speaker 6 (59:58):
You know, do this? You know after three games?
Speaker 10 (59:59):
Wh it's hard. Sometimes these guys just need a lot
of at bats and it's.
Speaker 6 (01:00:04):
You know, some guys get it right away, some guys don't.
Speaker 10 (01:00:07):
And again, Archie is so young, he's still getting started.
The talents all there. Like you said, he's been really
strong over the last couple of games, and now he's
just able to kind of see things a little bit better,
maybe to just slow it down a little bit, and
it seems.
Speaker 6 (01:00:20):
Like he's more relaxed, like it just you.
Speaker 10 (01:00:23):
Can just go out there and grip it and rip
it and go. And he's playing well.
Speaker 6 (01:00:26):
But we we'll see what he does tomorrow against is Georgia.
Speaker 3 (01:00:28):

Big game out here Battle the Top twenty five USC
Jason wants Lincoln Riley as the next head coach of
the Jets. After tomorrow's game, USC favored by a touchdown
(01:00:52):
as we speak right now, will he still want him
as his coach?
Speaker 10 (01:00:56):
Here's what I don't get. What you know, why would
any college coach want to.
Speaker 6 (01:01:01):
Go in the NFL?
Speaker 10 (01:01:03):
Like, first of all, all the NFL coaches are the
same guy. There's basically Andy Reid and everyone else looks
like they're at four clips that he'll commercial or something.
They all they're all like twenty seven, they have a
nice haircut, they're all kind of good looking and athletic,
and you know, I don't know, you know their names,
but they have these schemes. It just I don't know
(01:01:23):
why you would want to do this when if you
stay in college, you're guaranteed like generational wealth with every
win because they'll keep adding more money to your uh
to your deal. So I think Lincoln Rally is doing fine.
I will be kind of stunned if you you see
if USC doesn't have a big performance. I always been
great there. Three losses were all really close. But USC
(01:01:45):
is a completely different animal. At home, they've had they've
struggled down the road, uh, and they've just kind of
been off.
Speaker 6 (01:01:51):
They need a little.
Speaker 10 (01:01:52):
That they've melted down in Illinois and you know, they
just haven't quite been themselves and they have to make
get on a plane and go. But home, they have
been fantastic. I just don't think I always going to
show off the firepower to keep up.
Speaker 6 (01:02:05):
On this pete.
Speaker 1 (01:02:07):
When you look at Notre Dame in Pittsburgh, right, big
game here Notre Dame. I remember you saying beginning of
the year, after Notre Dame lost their first two games,
you said, just wait, just wait, because I don't know
where there's other losses. And here they are right now.
They can clinch a spot basically in the playoff with
a win tomorrow. I think they lose the period. It's
a huge game. Well I don't see them losing the
(01:02:28):
rest of the way because you know at Syracuse next week,
So they basically can clinch with a win tomorrow because
they basically have buys the rest of the way.
Speaker 10 (01:02:36):
That's not how it really works though. First of all,
I continue to be to love the fact that you
say it like you know, cook no Tre Dame, nod.
But here's kind of the thing to remember how this works.
It's not like the AP and coaches polls, where if
you are number five in the country now you keep winning,
you will never leave that five spot, if only you
(01:02:57):
will only go up in the college football playoffs. It
comes down to the end. And so here's what I'm
kind of trying to prepare people now, assuming speaking of Syracuse,
assuming that Miami doesn't pull a Syracuse of last year
and they had everything on the line and blew it
in the final game against the Orange. This year, that
team from Coral Gables or it's nice and warm and
(01:03:18):
happy has to go to Pittsburgh in late November. That's
the problem. If Miami wins its final two games, it's
going to be ten and two. South Florida is going
to rip through the American Athletic Conference and it's gonna
win the American Athletic Conference championship. Notre Dame is going
to be ten and two, and so Notre Dame might
be like seven ish or six in the penultimate rankings,
(01:03:41):
and then the final rankings. What they're gonna have to
do is Okay, South Florida's gonna be twelve, and they're
gonna want to put Miami in at ten and two
because of their great wins, because that win over Notre Dame.
Because of that win over South Florida, and Notre Dame
could be the eleven. But you're right, I think they
punched their ticket. At the very least, they're crushing every buddy.
It's kind of getting lost that.
Speaker 6 (01:04:01):
They are destroying everything in their path.
Speaker 10 (01:04:04):
But let's see, because kid's got a little bit of
firepower to play with here.
Speaker 1 (01:04:07):
Yes, Pete.
Speaker 3 (01:04:07):
One of my favorite things from this week's announcement of
where we're at with the rankings, where they we got
backed into the old age of the pollsters.
Speaker 4 (01:04:17):
Why's Texas text? Where they are?
Speaker 1 (01:04:19):
Well?
Speaker 4 (01:04:19):
They kick field goals? Why's Miami where they are?
Speaker 1 (01:04:22):
Well? We like their.
Speaker 3 (01:04:22):
Offense, Like we're going back to running up the score.
Where spurry you're at? Yeah, but then the guy that
said that resigned. We got somebody he said all that
stuff and he quit.
Speaker 6 (01:04:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (01:04:35):
Yeah, there's a few things to deal with right now.
Speaker 6 (01:04:38):
With that.
Speaker 10 (01:04:39):
Let's good kids down in Grapevine Texas. But look, look
they're buying time. And I've said this before and it's
the other network, so I need to talk about them freely.
It's just the don't pay attention to anything they're saying.
Just don't I mean this whole they do the bracket.
Speaker 6 (01:04:56):
This is how the bracket is right now.
Speaker 10 (01:04:57):
Well, yeah, because you have whether.
Speaker 6 (01:04:59):
The conference champions yet and.
Speaker 10 (01:05:01):
There are certain preme you know, things that can't happen
with the way they have the brackets set up based
on the current rankings. So just they're trying to kill
time and then we're just going to get to the end.
And again, if it's going to be as long as
Indiana and Ohio State are undefeated, if they're both twelve,
they know and they play each other. Big Ten Champions
going to be the number one seed at SC Champion
(01:05:21):
is going to be the number two seed, twelve and one.
Texas Tech is probably going to be the three big
because they love they remember the number one thing that
they value is a conference championship. The Texas Tech is three,
and I say the Big Ten Champions probably number four,
and then game on from there with the Georgie's Ole
Miss and USC Oregon winner from there, all right, Pete.
Speaker 1 (01:05:43):
Lastly, Bill Belichick has spent most of this week talking
about how he's not leaving for the NFL. First of all,
I don't think anybody's really calling him. Secondly, where do
you think he stands right now? As far as the
future With North Carolina, they won a couple of games
over some bad teams. He's onto wake Forest like he
usually was with the New England Patriots. Where do you
(01:06:04):
think that stuff? The situation with Belichick stands right now?
Speaker 10 (01:06:07):
Well, the problem is again, does he want to really
see this through? Because if he was ten years younger,
you'd say, all right, but this. First of all, their
defense is awesome. I mean they are an undermachine for
those people who care about this sort of stuff. Their
offense is bad, their defense is fantastic, And you're right,
(01:06:29):
they're actually kind of playing pretty good, you know, for
what they're trying to do. They're in control. And this
is Belichick, you know, coaching defense and no one's watching
or no one cares because they were so bad early on.
So if he was younger, you could say, all I
can kind of see where this is going. This is
going to be a defensive powerhouse. In the ATC for
the next several years. They get a couple offensive playmakers
(01:06:52):
and let's go. But I just don't know if he's
gonna want to hang around and see this through for
that long. So it's I think he might set things up, Okay.
I don't know if he's saying he's up for his
kids take over or you know, however this is gonna work.
I think he stays there. I get the idea of
him wanting to coach in the NFL a little bit.
Speaker 6 (01:07:12):
I actually think he'd be all right. I think he'd
actually be a really good coach.
Speaker 10 (01:07:16):
You know, you get him for two or three years
in the NFL and he'd be back again. He's got
the young quarterback with Jackson Dart if he did go
to the Jets and sorry Giants and all that. But no,
I think he's saying at North Carolina for the f
fielable future.
