In hour one of The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon, the guys react to the Milwaukee Bucks stealing game 5 in Boston on the back of a heads-up play by Jrue Holiday. It’s official, Nikola Jokic is the NBA MVP, but Jason thinks the race should have been much closer.  Then, the NFL’s trickling out of the schedule is pretty lame.

(00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Wait for it, wait
for Fox Sports Radio. Welcome inside. Happy Wednesday, the Jason
Smith Show with my base friend Mike Harmony. We'll we'll

(00:44):
have more onto Zoe's science homework coming about. You're going okay,
science homework is going fine. Yes, side, we had a
couple of big math tests. We had a two part
math tests yesterday and today testing. Uh, stay testing with
last week. This is cloud testing, this is class testing. Yes,
I said, the most important thing you'll ever learn in math,

(01:05):
I said, I'm being serious. I want you to listen.
She looks. I said, most poor they're learned is you
need to know about winning percentage and so you can
be able to tell how many games out of first
place a team is. That's the biggest math lesson you
will need to know because you'll need that every day
when you check the standings. You'll need to know what's happening.
You need to know math and go what permutations and
my team need to get in the playoffs? How many

(01:26):
wins do we have to get too? Will winn the tie?
Do it? You need to know the most important thing.
Figure out winning percentage. Start coming up with your own statistics.
That's right, and you could become, you know, invaluable to
the game of your choosing. You don't like the game,
invent a new game, but you gotta know the math. Well,
I mean it's the same thing. Just when you thought
you had all the answers, I changed the questions and

(01:48):
new fuzzy math. Let's go. Oh, it is a big
night tonight, and again we'll focus a lot on the
NBA tonight. We had one game we're gonna get to
in a second that that just absolute drama at the end.
But first, Memphis leads Golden State right now, Remember the

(02:09):
Warriors were three games to one lead. This game has
about two and a half minutes left to go in
the first quarter. Uh, Remember that Grizzlies playing without John
Morand who is likely out for the playoffs. Uh, Steph
Curry's got six, Clay Thompson has seven. But the Grizzlies
shooting pretty well, hitting some threes. They're up by three
late in the first quarter. Mike odds that we're talking

(02:30):
about the series still going after tonight. What do you
think tell me right now first quarter? Is this series
still going or is it over? And we're talking about
the Warriors moving on and and what's next for the Grizzlies.
What my hope is that we're still talking about it,
because then we get to turn all our attention and
and go after Steph Curry and whatever the hell it
is that he predicted for game for game five? What

(02:52):
was it? Whoop that whoop there it is or something
like that. There it is hitting whooped there it is? Yeah,
whoop that trick? That was from Yeah, no, that was
from what was a movie that was from with Terrence
Howard Um It was such a good movie. He's the
rapper and he uh that's his big song. I can't
think of the song. I can't think of the of

(03:14):
the movie. He's the rapper. Tang no no, no, no
no no. He plays It's it's like a it's like
based on a true story like he's he's a rapper.
Hustle and flow. Yes, thank you very much. Yes, Hustle
and Flow. That was it. That was haven't seen that
in a long time. So there you can. Yeah, that
was his big song, grety Quick. He finds ludicrous in

(03:34):
the bathroom and jams the concettative mouth because he wasn't
gonna be trying to fletch it down the toilet. Pol Well,
there you go. So I've been educated. Uh so, yeah,
hopefully since they got all chesty the other you know
you mentioned with John Morant being out, and I hear
the promos you know that we've done and that other
shows have done. And I asked this question, with all

(03:56):
all sincerity, do you buy that it's just a bone bruise?
The way the Warriors had reacted and everybody had reacted
to his injury, including John Morant? Do you buy that
that's all that's going on? Am I buying that it's
just a bone bruise? Uh? No, because there was a

(04:17):
lot more anger and vitriol behind it, and and just
angst about that play with Jordan Poole that it was
more than just a bone bruise. I could be wrong.
I could just go into wanting speculation. But look, if
he's not playing, it really doesn't matter what they checked
the box off, right, They could just say, hey, piste
Off doesn't want to play tonight in terms of the

(04:39):
injury report, it doesn't matter, right, It's it only comes
down to you. Hey, you activated him twenty minutes before
the game after saying he was doubtful. Why is that
a no? No? I get it. And look, here's the
thing is is that if it was, this is why
I kind of buy that it's a little bit more
than a bone bruise, because if it was just a
bone bruise, I could see the grizz. He's saying he

(05:00):
may be out for the rest of this series, right,
like he may be out forcessary But the fact they
went right to he may be done for the playoffs, Now,
let me think it might be a little bit more
than that, might be a little more than a bone bruise,
And could it might not be just the story that
we're getting, because it would have been different had they
had they said, hey, he's out for the series, I'd
buy a bone bruise, right, I buy some time you

(05:21):
need the banging of you know you want to be
careful with him. I understand that, but now I I
think it's a little bit more than that. Right. So yeah,
well we'll keep an eye out and see what the
uh diagnosis, prognosis, all those updates are. But for now,
we got a fun first quarter once again, Grizz getting
out strong as they have this entire series. Now to
matter of sustaining obviously, the home crowd really hoping that

(05:45):
Dylan Brooks rediscovered his game. Uh miss a wild shot
very early in this one, nine minutes, played one of
four from the field thus far. So we'll have more
on this game. But the drama we just saw with
Milwaukee and Boss in the Bucks take a three games
to two lead. Uh they win in Boston one ten,

(06:05):
one oh seven. And there's two big things that stick
out of this game, right, I mean, look, Janice had
forty uh and eleven and three assists. Bloody him. Oh,
I know, it's like he looked like like the like
the Emperor. You know what he got with the like
coming out of it. Yes, yes, to grab the light,
save us, strike me down, and don't kill me. Don't

(06:27):
kill me. But this game comes down to two things, right,
two things the big play at the end of regulation
where the Celtics are down by a point, Marcus Smart
goes in for the drive. In a play that we're
gonna be talking about for a long time. Drew Holiday
comes out of nowhere for the big block. Not only

(06:48):
that he has the presence of mind to jump grab
it and throw the ball off of Marcus Smart so
it goes out of bounds. I mean, this is an
incredible heady play and they win the game because of this.
You know, ho itson goes It's a couple of free
throws and then they come down and Marcus Smart gets
the ball stolen from him on the final possession, so
the Bucks hold on to win. That play by Drew

(07:09):
Holiday was just absolutely incredible. Like you talk about one
man plays, I mean, no, does he get the block, Well,
I've got no. He makes sure that he grabs it
and he throws it off of Marcus Smart and it
goes out of bounds. The playground play you see all
the time because guys would love to grab the ball
and throw it as hard as they can offer somebody
because you know, yeah, I want to hit you with
the ball, and you can't say anything to me because
I can hit you with the ball because it's a

(07:30):
legal play, right you see that? We that like play
growing up all the time. People love to do that. Um,
but that was the play. And you know, we we
talk a lot about Janice obviously, and Chris Middleton being
out as a big deal, and Drew Holiday has kind
of been Yeah, don't forget about Drew was their number
three guy, man. I mean, Drew is a really was
a really big deal, a really big addition to this team.

(07:52):
And you know, the guys in his thirties now, and
he was someone who was always a good player, But
was he ever really the answer for a couple of teams?
I mean, look the guy, the guy toiled in in
h New Orleans for almost a decade, right, it was, yeah,
he's a good player. But boy finally gets out after
like eight years, and now hey, he's the missing piece.
Milwaukee goes and wins a championship and now here there

(08:13):
are three games to two. We spent a lot of
time on your honest, then it's Chris Middleton. But Drew Holiday,
he's making plays. He was such a big difference in
the end of the NBA Finals last year too. He's
a guy needs more attention. Certain guys in the NBA
get too much. He's a guy that needs more eight
and eight on the night and a plus four teen
and those big plays down the stretch, and it's so

(08:33):
huge because they're coming against the guy that has to
defense and player of the year tag. And then he
got ultimately defended multiple times to where you've basically snatched
his soul. Like the little shot they had as the
game ended like that was you. You You've vanquished him.
That was the video game stand up like we saw

(08:55):
the other day, you know, the making the rounds. If
I just beat you in a video game and I
turned and I start, and your mama and all that
stuff and then fights break out, that's the kind of
moment that was for Drew Holiday. So coming up huge
down the stretch, Bobby Portis, I mean you had these
secondary guys. I mean Portis had what fourteen points and

(09:15):
fifteen boards, including that huge rebound where you had a
couple of Celtics colliding into each other to give him
an opportunity for a putback to put them ahead off
the honest mis free throw. So I mean, just all
these contributors guys stepping up that were are so integral,
you know, the glue guys that we always kind of

(09:36):
talk about as they're there, but they don't get the
shine of MVP considerations and guys being mad and whatever else. No,
tonight coming up huge in support of Oh Janice who
just had forty eleven. Now the the other part of
this conversation, and and this is Look, this is not
just me banging for the drama. I said for the

(09:57):
guy who's going to be the m v P next year,
because he is right. We'll get to Yokich who officially
wins the m v P today and everybody in the
Nuggets organization went to Serbia to say, congratulations is the
greatest presentation ever. No, he will show me another time.
A guy is gonna be in a sulky Yeah. No, no, no,
I I get I it was that was That was

(10:17):
what I said. We're gonna get to that. We're gonna
get to that. Um. But here's the final thirty seconds
of this game, and Jayson Tatum doesn't get the ball,
and not only that, I don't know that he was
going to get the ball. Marcus Smart was going to
the hoop. And then in the last few seconds, I
know there was anything for him to get the basketball.
How does Jayson Tatum not get the basketball? How does

(10:37):
he not have the ball in his hands in the
final seconds of this game? Right? Thirty four points? He's
your guy, right he know? Was he having a great
night shooting? No, but it doesn't matter. It's Jason Bleip
and Tatum, right. I don't know how in the last
thirty seconds he does not really touch the basketball. That
that that's that's the big things. I said, Okay, well
now this is gonna be this is right now, I'm
gonna get see Jayson Tatum. He's gonna make a big

(10:59):
shot and I'm gonna get on the air. I'm gonna go.
I told you he's the m v P. Look at this.
Look at it and oh well, Marcus Smart gets blocked.
Oh Marcus Smart gets it stolen. And I don't even
think Tatum was in the play. I really, I don't
even think Tatum was. I'm looking for is he did he?
Did he come out of a game? Did I do?
I know I'm not seeing Jayson Tatum at no. Here
he is, He's on the screen. But how does he

(11:19):
not get the ball? How does he how does he
not get the ball in the final, I don't get it.
That's like the Lakers running plays in the last thirty seconds.
You don't give it to Lebron. It's like the Bucks.
We're not gonna give it to the honest, we're not
gonna get We're not gonna give the ball to Embid.
We're not gonna We're not gonna give the ball to Yokes.
We're just not gonna do it. We're gonna find a
way to do something else to not give them the basketball.
Where the Bucks are going, Oh that's you're gonna do?

(11:39):
Oh yeah, we got you man. Good, Okay, great, great great.
I don't know if the Celtics out thought themselves. And
then we're gonna use We're gonna use Jayson Tatum as
a decoy. We're gonna try to get to the rack
fast and try to try to surprise them. But whenever
you lose a game and your best player doesn't touch
the basketball at the end, that's gonna come back and
go what are you doing right? Not the You always

(12:00):
need to make a decision because of what the reaction
is going to be. But if I want to lose
a game, I don't want to lose a game because
I out thought myself, I want to lose a game
because well, I gave the ball to my best player.
This is how it's supposed to work. This is what's
if we're gonna we're gonna win a game like this,
and we're gonna lose a game like this, and and
that's how it's supposed to go. And I don't get it,
and I don't get how he doesn't he doesn't get
the basketball in the last thirty seconds. Yeah, I mean

(12:22):
he hit those free throws with by what thirty one
two seconds left, and then you have the sequence with
a bloody and honest the free throws on the putback
goes into Smart. I mean Tatum was on the complete
opposite side of the inbound play down at the three
point arc. So you had what looked to be a

(12:42):
pretty good play to get the ball into Smart. Good
good recovery content stayed in front, and then you've got
the good help over the top from Holiday and then
eventually here's the ball off your chest and and it
goes from there because I I think the look was
we got Smart, he'll be able to get connatent to

(13:03):
the rack, which he did, and then here comes Holiday,
flying up out of the paint to take the ball
right out of his hand again, snatching his soul first time.
That was the first time. And then he came back
and and got whatever leftovers seconds later. Yeah, it really,
it really was crazy. It really was. I don't I
don't get it. I don't. I don't get how that

(13:24):
game comes down to the end like that. And it's not.
It's not somehow Jayson Tatum for because that's how the
Celtics really ran things right, It's not how the Celtics
really ran things at all like that. It was always
Jayson Tatum's gonna make a shot or miss a shot,
and that's how the game's gonna end right like that.
That's how it's gonna go right that that. That's how
the game was for most of the season. Jayson Tatum's
gonna get the ball either he makes and remisses it.

(13:44):
And you can see him in the final play. He's
running down the side with his hand in the air,
going throw me the ball, the ball. I'm wide open,
I am wide open, throw me the basketball. And for
some reason more smart, you know, he sees him right,
you know he sees him on this play and because
because there's enough time for Marcus mart to dribble and

(14:05):
look and go okay, boom, there you are, Jason, I
got it right. They give it right back to him.
He sees the floor. Tatum's all alone for a three.
Now does Tatum make it? Does he not? You know?
I you know, you don't know if that's gonna make.
But that's the best play, right, Let's throw the ball
across half court to Tatum. Who's gonna catch and shoot?
Who's standing there going hey, I have the ball because
everybody's falling down on the bucks on the final play.

(14:25):
I don't that that's such an epic fail by the Celtics.
It really isn't. Again, I don't know. We're gonna find
out in the post game. Was was it drawn up
this way? Was it just smart missed him? I don't know,
but boy, that that's such a fail by the Celtics. Yeah.
I mean the question is as he was picking up
the dribble, was was that the goal to kind of
wing it over the top of Portois to get it

(14:45):
to Tatum and then he just had his pocket picked.
I mean that that's something that you know, will will
theorize on. But again, getting it past holiday was obviously
difficult enough. And then you had hoard Is flying over
like a praying mantis over the top and like I'll
take whatever's left. Um So, I don't even think if

(15:08):
he if he got the ball off, it was gonna
get it. He was gonna get it cleanly. Remember how
did you get a nice little flop like he'd been
been hit or something. Yeah, no, the flop was good.
No was It was definitely a good flop because if
you're gonna lose the ball like that in embarrassing, may
flop to make it. And then I'm rewatching it now
and as soon as the you can see it, and
I'm sure people took a nice picture of it with
the scoreboard, you know, the red ring to show the

(15:32):
that time it expired. Uh. That goes off behind him
almost like a halo, and he puts his head down. Sad.
Marcus Smart and the Soul twitter it out about a fresco. Mike,
it's swollen, dumb. I I don't care what the Celtics
were doing there at the end. I really don't be
sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith Show
with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific,

(15:56):
Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with my best
in Mike Harmon, Live from the Fox Sports Radio Studios.
Where if you are watching the NBA game right now,
you just saw a new trailer for Top Gun Maverick,
they're selling tickets. I don't know. I don't know if
I I don't know, Mike Harmon, I don't know. How

(16:16):
do I want to buy tickets? Do I really trust
there's a movie you want to you want to make
sure you've got your prime seat? I don't know, man,
I we're getting into the within two weeks now pretty much, it's,
you know, two weeks from tonight at midnight. I do
I really want to buy? Do I? Am? I really
gonna get the rug pulled out Fronday? When I find
out it's just a big long trailer and cruise landing

(16:38):
the helicopter and then they're gonna show the first one
that they're gonna show Edge of Tomorrow, and then he's
gonna do a Q and A on tape. I mean,
I don't know. I don't want to see that. I
don't know. I really do think we should as a
show get together and do a midnight twelve thirties showing whatever,
Go get some wings, maybe a frosty beverage, you know,
like a nice milkshake, and then go see a movie.

(16:59):
Why don't we do the show opening night from a
theater showing the movie. Why don't from the premier Yeah?
I kind of dig that. Yeah, I'm just at the
point were very even mocking how long it's taken to
make this movie. If you look in the promoted tweets
that they're doing for the movie, now, yeah, we know
you've been waiting a long time. No, that's not because

(17:20):
it's been years between the sequel. It's been years since
you saw the first trailer promising you. I think there's
more time from the first trailer to now than there
was from the first movie to the first trailer. I
think it's long. Someone has gone to college saying, oh, man,
I just saw the trailer for Top Gun Maverick. It
is awesome, and they're gonna graduate and they're gonna say

(17:43):
there was still no movie. I waited my entire college
career for Top Gun Maverick and it never came out.
All four years went by. Somebody just did amazing, amazing
passage of time, and and we've done that with a
lot of things because of the pandemic, right you you
kind of lost grab a grass to some degree of
all right, there's a three month block or six month blocks,

(18:04):
like really that happened. Then it's like, yeah, I guess
because it's all kind of great, kind of great out
because things happened in kind of a vacuum because you
weren't there to have those group experiences in a lot
of ways. But yeah, this one, Uh, I'll just be
excited to be able to go to a movie in
two weeks and it won't be a trailer in theory.
You know, you don't know what if there was like

(18:26):
a trailer for everything? You thought they showed the top
gun trailer at the beginning and the end and then
they rolled up credits. But how about I go to
a movie it's like playing in the theater right next
door and they just play right now. Fair, I will
tell you this. I am gonna go see that in
the with the Dolby sound. Okay, I'm watching with good sound.

(18:48):
I'm just saying, well, not that not that theaters don't
have good sound, but the Dolby thing, to me, uh yeah,
it's it might be partially brand influenced. I mean, the
good job of them, but there is some power to
it's being strange in the Dolby Theater with the way
music is employed. They're in by the great Danny Elfman. Yeah,

(19:08):
it worked on a different level for me. See, I'm
gonna go. Actually, what Thomas Dolby is they're playing the
music in the theater every seconds, just keep yelling science.
Is he gonna play anything? No, he just keeps yelling
science with an echo and a reverb. Play. No one

(19:28):
is to blame. That's Howard Jones just playing. Okay, here
we go. Wow, Howard Jones reference and nicely done. You know,
I'd clapped my hands if I could, But you know
it's just gonna be a thudd or I'll have to
start banging a table like I'm readily outa you know
how you do it. But I know. You know you
talked about your accent the other day. You got a

(19:49):
big cast on your hand. Now you got surgery coming up. Yeah,
I gotta go have surgery on my hand. Broke a
bone up near the uh you know, along the pinky
so towards the risks. There was it the hammet bone
the head, because that's the one Ken Griffey broke, the
hammet bone. I don't know that's that's the should have
been showing the reds all along from missing diagnosing everything.

(20:11):
But that's that's a that's a tail for another time.
Redd worse doctors and the mets. Iine what I'm saying.
They screwed that guy over and you watched him get
old and frail very fast. Um. But it might be
the hammet bone because it's the one bone I've heard of.
It could be that you're gonna start playing blackened in
the background, d J. The Kirk Hammett bone clearly asking

(20:33):
am I evil? TJ? So when I guess a doctor
looked at the X ray for all like three seconds,
when yep, all right, you're gonna have to have a
pin or two put into straighten that out because it's
not gonna heal properly itself. So I gotta go see
a surgeon tomorrow and we'll go for there. He looked
at you and said, hey, everybody, this is my arm. Well,
you know, he did throw in a pretty good thing,

(20:55):
because he asked me, you know what happened or whatever?
He goes, well, well, have you updated your tet in
a shot? I'm like, well, I can't sell you for
certain I don't carry my you know card of all
of those things. Because how about we update that today?
He goes, do you know? But let me ask before
before I do, just to give you a piece of clarification. Um,
if you were in the rodeo and worked around the rodeo,

(21:16):
you'd have to get it updated every five years. And
I looked at and I go, okay, he goes, because
think about it. Your your head's getting you know, dumped
into uh well, the mess caused by the animals or
probably getting bit at or kicked or whatever it was.
So if you were a rodeo man, you're not a
rodeo man. I am like, no, I'm a radio loud mouth,

(21:36):
because yeah, maybe you should get it every five years
for you too, but certainly if you were in the rodeo,
you should get you should five years. You have to
do it instead of the normal tan, I go, you
do have a pair of asslets chaps? I know for
that was a big deal on the show a long
time ago. That's right, that's basically basically a rodeo guy.
If you have a pair of asslets chaps. No, right,
I mean that's how we we really laid the hammer

(21:57):
down early here on Fox Sports Radio. It's a part
of the arsenal, there's no question. And I've got a
couple of really good hats that would go with it
as well. I had my uh, you know, wide brim
Fedora walked the dog earlier, and I had this you
know rap and well splint. It looks like a giant club.
I felt like Cowboy Bob Morton, oh w F wrestler

(22:18):
hanging out with Roddy Piper and Mr Wonderful Paul Orndorff,
Like I just want to walk up to someone to go, oh,
Cowboy Bob takes some down Twitter and out about a freshtome,
Mike gets swollen Dome The Jason Smith Show with my
best friend Mike Harmon. Now Joel Embiid is now officially
the m v P as Mike Harmon and his hammet bone.

(22:40):
Because now it's just to make it easier, it's gonna
be the hammet bone, right, because it's the one bone
I've heard of, So that's what's gonna be. Hamming broke
your hammet bone, you give me back? You really just
want early a metallic on the show, wanted just tight
shirt for uh. So, Officially, Nicola Yoki is the m
v P and the vote wasn't really close. Yokich is

(23:01):
name the m v P back to back years. Today
he got sixty five out of a hundred first place votes,
Joel Embiid getting uh six first place votes. So basically
Yokich more than had a two to one margin in
votes over embad. That's a lot of hate. Number one,
How mad is Joel Embiad right now? I mean he

(23:21):
knew he was gonna lose, but now not only did
I lose, I lost by a ton. People hate me
because it would have been one thing. It was, Hey,
it was somewhat of a close vote. And Yokich got
you know, you know, forty nine first place votes, and
and Joel Embiid got thirty seven. No, this is sixty
five twenty six when and beat and said what do
I have to do to win the m v P.

(23:42):
Nobody who likes talking about the m v P more
than Joel Embiid. Maybe voters said, okay, let's make it.
Let's make up pinky sweare What if Embiid doesn't mention
being the m v P over the course of the season,
we give it to him, okay, but if he does
mention it, we can't vote for him. Done, done and
done and then beat of course you're not gonna vote
because he always he brings it up all the time.

(24:02):
I'm the m v P opening night. Next year, he's
gonna be saying, Hey, I think I'm my m v
P season begins right now. I just love the fact
that he lost by so much, and you know, he's
just walking around his house right now, going how did
he beat me? By the body? Who are these guys?
Give me all the names of everybody who didn't vote
for me for first place because he's so put out,
he's so mad he didn't win the m v P. Well,
what's the length on spoiler alerts for streaming shows? Uh? Boy,

(24:29):
streaming is tough. You got to give people a good
month or so on a streaming show. Really, yeah, I
think so. Yeah. It's like, you know, i'm flight attention.
Since we're talking basketball, I'm doing it in a wink
and an obvious reference to something I may have may
or not may or may not have just watched over
the last twenty four hours that would really be in
line with what he was. What was the show? What

(24:51):
was it? Winning Time? Oh, you can do that because
it's uh, Winning Times is based on a true story.
We know what happens, right, did they did they make
the Celtics win more championships and winning Time? No, so
it's fine, you can do it. So they made a
big deal of down the Stretch with Kareem abdul Jabbar
of course uh injured and the famous Magic Johnson games

(25:11):
like how do you get up getting motivated? Pat Riley.
Adrian Brody looks at him and tells him what the
final Rookie of the Year vote was between he and
Larry Bird. Oh, Larry Bird one Rookie of the Year.
You spoiled that, man. Come on, I was I was
just up to nineteen seventy seven and my rewatching of

(25:32):
the NBA years, I was ok. And you can see
James Leisure once again plays a fantastic Dr Jay. Really
wait wait wait wait oh, James, I thought you're talking
about David Leisure. I'm like, wait a minute, Joe, susu
David Leish, what are you talking about? He's play Dr

(25:53):
Jay with the flat top and everything. Hello David. Because
David is the guy from Empty Nest hanging out with
Richard Mulligan. I really thought you sound like, wait a minute,
he's not playing him? Oh oh right, no David guys
from Lost Vegas. Yeah, no, yes, no, I get it,

(26:17):
I get it. But but really, I mean I'm thinking
I'm him dr j uh you know, because uh, David Leisure. Okay,
you're ready with me on this. David Leisure in the
Dan Patrick story could play Dan Patrick. This is true,

(26:37):
not the Lieutenant Governor of Texas, but our Dan Patrick.
David Leisure is Dan Patrick. No. I like that. That's
pretty good. They they're both kind of built the same,
both both tall, that that same kind of of wit
and and uh, easily David Leisure is Dan Patrick. Yeah, man, obviously,
I mean you go back to uh with James Leisure.
He was running that mad two on two game with

(27:00):
Josh Dunel on Las Vegas. Okay, I forgot. I keep forgetting.
Josh du Mel started in Las Vegas. That's why people
watched it. I'm like, why do people watch? Oh r,
there are a lot of reasons to watch that. I mean, yeah,
now look then SMR sel oh yeah, yeah, Sims, yeah,
all these people that had never happened for after Las

(27:21):
Vegas exactly, Josh dum L Where where where vanes mar Still?
I think peaked in in nineteen in two thousand and two. Yeah,
but didn't she go on to like Beverly Hills nine
o two one, oh, the reboots and all those kind
of things. Know what what she? What's she? I don't
even know? And I hang on a second, smr sel
Yes she did go to nine o two and oh yes,
but it was only for a short period of time,

(27:43):
like she was on near the end when it was whatever,
it's Tiffany amthe and and everybody else, and you leave
Tiffany ampertheas and alone, how dare you? Yeah? It was well,
what's you gonna put a bunch of people on here?
Marcia Thompson was great on Las Vegas? And then Tom
Selley came in. Okay, all right, I'm just saying. I
mean he looked at a bunch of people that didn't

(28:03):
really do alive that peaked a long time ago. But
that's okay. Uh. The one thing I will say about
yokis winning the m v P. I was surprised it
wasn't close. I really am surprised wasn't closer because I
don't I don't get all of the sudden love for
for for Nicola Yoke, because it's not like he had
a better year than he had last year. But everybody
is saying the same thing. Didn't have his two Max guys, right,

(28:25):
didn't have Murray, didn't have Poory. You know, look what
he did forty eight wins the year before he had
those guys had a better year. So wait, so he
was the m v P when he had them on
his team, but now without them in a worst year,
he's still the m v P. So how is that really?
You can't tell me that look what he did without
these guys when you gave him the m v P
the year before, when both those guys were playing. I
can't do that. I can't do that. You got you

(28:45):
got you gotta you gotta pick Alan. You gotta say either, hey,
he's great, look at what he did without these guys,
or boy, he's great and he raised his team up
a year ago, but this year they didn't quite have
as good as season, So he can't be the m
v P. Uh Yeah, I I people want to talk
out of both sides of the mouth this. I'm surprised
it wasn't closer because I'm sorry, m v P is
not Player of the Year. Lots of guys had great years. Right,

(29:08):
not gonna give Lebron the m v P award because
the Lakers didn't even make the playoffs, Right, Lots of
guys have really good years on bad teams. It's why
it's the most Valuable Player because your team achieves. Right.
I'd rather see a guy like Jayson Tatum even this year,
because we watch where the Celtics rose over the last
half of the season thanks to Jayson Tatum. I'd rather
see Devin Booker win because, hey, the Sons are the
best team in the regular season by far, and this

(29:30):
was Devin Booker's year of ascendancy. Yeah, I'd like to
see that because you have to kind of do you.
Your team has to kind of do something for you
to be the m v P. Because other than that
is you're just a good guy and a bad team.
That's kind of what you are. And they weren't as
good as they were last year. But I didn't have
my guys, but I had my guys year before. Really,
I feel like the voters just said there's nobody that
I really that that stands out that I want to

(29:50):
vote for. I'd love to vote for John Morant, but
he didn't play. He only played in fifty seven games.
So yeah, I'll vote for Yokich again. He's got the numbers,
got the statu Yokich is great. I really feel like
that's what happened. Yeah, it's hard though, right because in
the end, Yokich and the Nuggets were only three games
behind the Sixers in terms of the win total. And

(30:11):
you look at his stats, and you have the and
and and I and I agree with you that you
know you're having it both ways in terms of the
vote for him. And we we always recognize narratives. And
that's why I, frankly, I'm surprised your kids want it.
I mean, I do love the ceremony here, I mean
outside of a bar. And and there he is riding

(30:33):
in in the sulky like he's uh getting ready to
run a race at uh you know one are the
great harness tracks in North America. I would love to
see that. By the way, that guesting uh the two
time m v P. But you know, giving it to Janice, Okay,
And we're we're at that point, and you watched him
tonight bloody, battered, beaten, and it still kept coming that

(30:57):
Janice is the overall game is being acknowledged to be
something more right, so he's now hitting that. All right, Well,
he's always going to be in the best of so
forget about him. He's not gonna win. It's like Tom
Hanks not winning an oscar for a very long time. Right,
he won those back to back, and it's like, all right,
he's gonna be great and people are gonna go see
him just you know, will dominate him now and again.

(31:19):
But otherwise, you know, just going or or all the
other greats in the different categories. But for Yokis to
beat embiid this handily, I would have thought Embid would
have gotten more love for the dysfunction and problems of
keeping Philadelphia where they were and keeping the team together.
That's where I'm shocked about it. Numbers wise, fine narrative

(31:41):
of whether he had help or not with Yokich, that's
certainly to be acknowledged, but that Inbi didn't get more
more credit for the Ben Simmons uh situation and just
being able to play through that and lead a squad
that was getting turned around over the course of the year.
That one part, to me, I think requires a little

(32:01):
more explanation on behalf of the voters. Yeah, I really,
I don't get it. How do you win when you
have those guys and then when you don't have those guys? Really,
it doesn't make sense. How can I be the man
when you're the man? How do I win? If you
don't win? See Dr Jerry Buss also known as Cal Martin.
See see if if I win? See that means you
can't win right see. Be sure to catch live editions

(33:09):
NFL does something that doesn't resonate, but they're doing it
right now. Uh, tomorrow is the big day. Right, we
get the NFL schedule rollout, We find out where all
our teams are playing, what your team's schedule is. You
start going through the schedule looking at wins and losses.
That's great. The NFL has decided we're gonna do this
kind of trickle rollout leading up to Thursday, right where

(33:31):
we find out what some of the games are Monday
Night Football. In week two, we found out what the
games are gonna be on Christmas Day. Today, UM, I
really don't care about this. I really don't care about
the national games and who's on here and who's not
unless it's my team, because number one, I can see
any team I want to pretty easily. Right, this is

(33:53):
about what does my team have in store for them
this season? What is the schedule? That's what people get
excited about. One gets excited about, Hey, this is a
game that's on in in a in a primetime window.
I have no idea what teams are gonna be good
this year. You think you have an idea, but there's
no context. Hey, this is the game on Christmas Day. Great,
that's nine months from now. I don't really care. I

(34:14):
want to know all my team schedule looks like. That's
what That's what you can do with a schedule trickle rollout.
That's what people care about. If I want to look
the NFL, if they asked me, this is what I
tell them to do. Have a trickle roll out where
four straight days, you have a couple of conferences and
teams and if you want to hold back the national
games because maybe you think your team is playing out

(34:34):
however you want to do it. But that's the roll up,
because that's people care about. Because I don't. I don't
care about these games. I don't care it's playing on
Christmas Day. I don't care if the Jets are playing
on Christmas Day. I played Ris Day. Great, it's here
in in in one year and and gone and out
the other. This is not something that resonates. You really
want to resonate and have a four day NFL trickle
schedule thing, Well, that's what you do. You do two
divisions a day, and you go through four days and

(34:56):
you fill in whatever whatever else on the final day
to put a big explanation point on it. That's what's
gonna raise in it. Because this I don't think anybody
cares about. I know, I don't. You don't care. I
got a whole shell plan now that you're going on
vacation or whatever you're doing. So on on week two,
whatever day, whatever day of the week two, again we're
going to look, we're doing two seventy two uh special

(35:19):
events tomorrow to celebrate schedule released day. Uh yeah, I
think you can make it a full week experience. I mean,
the NFL has been good at this thus far. Why
not have a bunch of pundits sitting around and their
respective war rooms as you announce matchups. Right, here's the
writers from the l A. Times talking about the Rams. Oh,

(35:40):
they're gonna win that game. They're gonna win that game.
About dirty five points? All right, you guys are boring
moving over to the opponent's side of things so we
can get some good things mixed they're in. Um No,
I still think there's some celebratory nature to it. But
you know, we we've known the opponents forever. It's now,
it's just a matter of trip planning. So I don't
think it necessarily has the same juice. No, but I

(36:04):
but really, I I don't know that any fan says,
oh I really want to know what's on Christmas Day?
Oh I really care who's on Monday Night football week
two of the season. If if you, if you kept
the game secret from me, and then after week one
you told me who was on Monday, and then I
went like, Okay, I want to know is on to
Night football next week? But now it's so abstract. I

(36:24):
think this is this is this is new news items,
news items, news items that people see and just just
passed right by them. But just because we sit and
and have to operate from our throne, yelling at coaches
and second guessing, other people may want to travel, they
may want to get together. Hey, you're bringing the brisket.
There's a lot more to life coming up. We got

(36:44):
more NFL and a big story out of the NBA
involving Kyrie. Next
