Speaker 2 (00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (00:29):
I'm fine, we gotta split. I'm fine, sure, we gotta split,
which is why you started muttering. Unfun. Oh no, no, I'm
still here your breath listen.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
I'm still worried about the bullpen and Edwin Diaz, who
has become the lamar Odom of Major League Baseball. Every
other game he can close.

Speaker 3 (00:46):
Uh. We talked about sweating relievers for a long time.
It just becomes the insert name here's put with a
bell Crow nameplate.

Speaker 1 (00:58):
For most other teams, you lose a game like into
with the Mets and the Phillies, it's, oh, what a disaster.
How do you bounce back? Mentally, the Mets are like,
that was like our fifth most exciting game this week.

Speaker 3 (01:08):
We're fine.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
We'll see you Tuesday nighted City Field everything is good,
Dell Worrio.

Speaker 3 (01:12):
About a lot of that became a hey, I just
need a nap after everything that went on for your
squad over the course of the week, the craziness of
each of those games. Yeah, just just get me to
it off day, That's all it was. Jason, Yeah, what
do you got? Frost? But no, we played that open
has nothing to do with this year's Mets, right, Oh
no it does. Oh really, I didn't know that. Really randomly,

(01:35):
Mets fandom has never been this strong. You know what
they do? They actually spin a wheel and it's got
the various opens that the imaging staff has created. Ricky
and Veto, that's a pretty garbage open if you ask, Wow,
our image guys are not going to be happy with you.
They're gonna be ways count They're gonna be.

Speaker 1 (01:56):
Waiting for you in the parking lot like your Dodger
fans of Machado man.

Speaker 3 (01:59):
Man, hey, I keep my head on a swivel going
into that parking lot after some of the stuff he
says all the time, Jason swear a good night twenty
four years ago.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
Tonight wait wait oh oh, Benny Bayani, Yeah, yeah, thirteenth inning.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
Yeah, thirteenth inning. Benny, Benny. That was a great, That
was a great. Why you named your dog Benny?

Speaker 4 (02:20):
No?

Speaker 1 (02:21):
That was all he wanted for Benny and the jelly
she wanted for Benny. I think you agreed because it
was Benny.

Speaker 3 (02:27):
No I want, no, no, no, I wanted. I wanted
an order.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
I wanted Drago because Benny's the tiniest multi poo. Yeah,
the sweetest dog in the world. But I wanted something fierce,
fier So I said, how about.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
Four or or Drago or No. No, you can't name
your little tiny dog Dragon. That would have been the best, though.
It's gotta be like a Rottwiler. No, he's Drago. What
are you doing? Guy? Crooked teeth? You know he's got
all sorts of uh. I don't even know. He's got

(03:00):
five or six different type of dog in him. His
name's tut. He's there's there's nothing legal about you know,
well sift he's But does he make you carry him
around places on a chair?

Speaker 1 (03:15):
The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harvin Live from the

hazard protection and over ten thousand recommended installers. Tyreck dot
com is the way tire buying should be. We'll have
more baseball coming up. Right now, my dad gripping his
ass off as the Yankees are losing for to one

(03:36):
to the Royals in the seventh inning. This game is
I think this game started for one. I think at
top of the first inning they rolled dice, all right,
starting for it. It's been for to one forever. It's
a very long game. It's been for to one forever.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
A long game, it seems.

Speaker 1 (03:48):
I will say this, you know, not because I don't
get this that often with all the extra playoff rounds,
and and maybe because now I'm I'm you know, I'm
looking at my team with a lot of with a
lot of things at stake here in the second round
of the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (04:02):
There there the games.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
The game seems so much longer when it's your team,
that's really I'm like, it's the fifth inning. Oh, it's
only the like it seems a lot. It seems like
the games are way too well.

Speaker 3 (04:16):
The running time was only two hours and fourteen minutes, Like, no,
there's no chance, and they're ignoring you know, they're ignoring
the pitch clock. Now, they're ignoring batters are getting time
out all the time when they step out. It's like, yeah,
it just don't embarrass me, and I won't call that
h But the games are just so lu they just
feel so long. It's like, oh, okay, Like, hey, if

(04:37):
we go to seven innings in the playoffs, right, that'd
be cool, long enough to where you felt like you
needed to throw water bottles to get the action started again.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
Maybe that's the other part is that Mets games really
don't start until the eighth inning. Like they're kind of
generic until the seventh or eighth inning. So let's just
start here. But let's just start here.

Speaker 3 (04:52):
With the NBA back in the day, Right, It's like,
all right, we'll tune in with about two minutes left,
see where we're at. Yeah, if it's closed, we'll stay. Hey,
if not, we're gonna go find a rerun of Young Shelton.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
It's all you need. But again, we'll have more baseball
coming up. Yeah, Yankees losing four to one as day
bat in the bottom of the seventh inning, they have
one on and two out. But Monday Night football, a
missed field goal by Harrison Bucker. He just joinked it
off the crossbar. So the Chiefs lead over the Saints
stays sixteen to seven with ten minutes to go in

(05:23):
the third quarter. Fifty one yard Now, there are many
things to take away from this, but let me say this,
because this is not going to be popular, but it's realistic.
And if you are paying any sort of attention to
the team in the last year and now a quarter
year and a third, you will understand the Chiefs as

(05:44):
we know them are dead. The Chiefs as we've known
them for the past seven eight years, they are dead.
They are gone. The excitement, the Mahomes up and down
the field, the four hundred yards a week and four touchdowns,
I'm afraid to get behind by ten points is now.
The game is over. They're just gonna boat race us.
Those Chiefs are dead, and they've been replaced by just

(06:06):
another really good team with a really clutch quarterback who
can make big plays. They have a pretty good defense,
probably the best of the Probably this is the best
two or three year run defensively they've had in the
entire Mahomes era. But that's kind of what they're They're
just another really good team now with a really clutch quarterback,
because honestly, Mahomes for a season in five games now,

(06:26):
he's been a game manager, right, That's kind of what
Mahomes has been. And you can argue so many different things,
but he's made it work with different levels a wide
receiver and they still won Super Bowls without Tyreek Hill.
He's been able to make it work. But this is
not the same team. And Mahomes is a guy that
doesn't throw it downfield anymore. He's a guy that gets
in trouble more often than not. He throws the ball
away more often than not. He throws makes bad throws

(06:48):
more often than not. He made a couple of throws
tonight that if Aaron Rodgers made those throws, you would say.

Speaker 2 (06:52):
Oh, his career is over.

Speaker 3 (06:54):
I No, Mahomes makes those throws forty coming up surgery
and playing for the Jets.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
But thats not on the Jets. But but that's really
where the Chiefs are. The Chiefs went from this indestructible,
insurmountable rock star team that you are afraid and intimidated
to go in and play every single week because they
had so many ways to beat you offensively before well,
the refs still do help. They still help. Oh yeah,
they still help, but they help on defense. But but

(07:22):
like I said, but in their in their place, they've
just become another really good team. They've lost that that
aura of invincibility, the aura that an aura of excitement.

Speaker 3 (07:34):
They've really lost because it's watching the game is not
what it was. And we should still be watching the
Chiefs and say, man, this is just amazing. Look at
what they're doing. They're still winning, it's awesome and just
saying so many glowing things about Patrick Mahomes. But we're
just not because this is not the team that we've
watched the last seven eight years. This in place of
it is just, hey, we're another really good football team.

(07:55):
But that's the thing, right, it's it's to flashy to
where it becomes hate watching. Like that's gone. Except for
the folks that are mad that Taylor Swift showed up tonight.
Why didn't you pay attention to my superstar that's shown
up at our game? Nobody cares. But it's the offense
as it's run out now. I mean, you're running three

(08:15):
tight end sets, you're running jumbo packages, and say, hey,
guess which one of our tight Ends is gonna catch
the ball. Hell, I think they have four tight ends
that have caught a pass tonight. You know, in the backfield,
you had to go out on the scrap heap with
the injury to Pacheco to go get Kareem Hunt, who's
played pretty well tonight against the Saints at the receiving corp.
It's like, all right, we'll bring back Juju Smith Schuster,

(08:37):
you know, after the Patriots couldn't do anything with him
but for the receiving gores all Rashie Rice. He got
blown up by his own quarterback. Right, that guy looked
like he's not that he's an A list number one,
but compared to whatever they had, he was light years away.
Nicole Hardman comes back tonight, all of those things to say,
you've got a strong defense, kicking game that's usually really reliable. Right,

(09:00):
he missed one, but he's got you know, three others.
And in today's NFL, I mean, I guess it's an
extension of what we've seen and what we lament when
we watched the Steelers tough loss last night. Justin Fields,
I think going back to Chicago days now, he's two
and twenty eight when the opponents score at least twenty points.

(09:20):
Think of that what you will. But we've watched the
NFL as a whole kind of change a bit, and
we got out of it for a couple of games yesterday.
But look at how many how many times teams are
working just to get into long field goal range. Right,
you're not taking shots downfield, You're not trying to blow
the doors off anyone. It's let's not make the big

(09:41):
mistake because we got a guy that we can kick
upwards of fifty yards with pretty good success. So let's
take the three points and move on. And with Mahomes, Yeah,
it's been a radic it's been off. The offensive line
is not what it once was. We saw, you know,
changes over the last couple of years. But in the

(10:01):
entirety of the AFC, what do you got? You got
Baltimore and then what else in terms of that same level,
there's still a really good team, but not enough to
hate watch. So Patrick Mahomes just to drift into this
next phase as a let's see what he does.

Speaker 1 (10:15):
I mean even this year, like how much of the
hatred and vitriol is there Travis Kelcey and Taylor Swift,
I can't stand it's oh yeah, I don't really care.
Yeah okay, yeah yeah, but wait no, I can't even
muster that up.

Speaker 3 (10:28):
I can't. I mean it was outrage, but you can't
even trump it up this year because Kelsey's not the
primary target again, pace yourself, round yourself into shape, right
because they need him December January versus running a ton
of routs and.

Speaker 1 (10:48):
It's not the thing in their place. They are now
just and I say just just because of what they were.
They are now a really really good NFL team. They
have a really good defense, and they have a quarterback
who's still the best quarterback in the NFL, who makes
clutch plays more than he does light up the Scoreboardyeah,
it's like I'm the traveling road show.

Speaker 3 (11:10):
We're gonna watch this. This is a fun They're up
and down, he's winging it out. I'd rather watch the Falcons.
I mean, come on, man, I mean the Falcons are
a better show than the Chiefs are.

Speaker 4 (11:18):
Now.

Speaker 3 (11:19):
I mean kirk Man flying all around Winter Lose, Winter Lose,
got his shirts as you buy a Coles.

Speaker 1 (11:24):
The next day I went shopping at Coles and at Target.
That's how much you know, double yeah, yeah, I get that.

Speaker 4 (11:33):
I walk in.

Speaker 1 (11:33):
I always take the picture next to the Kirk Cousins
cut out that's standing right there. You take the picture
and you go in and shop. Did you do all lunch?

Speaker 4 (11:38):
It?

Speaker 3 (11:39):
Cam Art Express? No? No?

Speaker 4 (11:41):
No?

Speaker 3 (11:41):
Panera? Panera because it's right next door. It's good, good bread.
They bowl and we should half soup, half sandwich.

Speaker 1 (11:49):
You what you I'm gonna have a kirk Cousins You
have me kirk Cousins days I've had where it's been
what we can do. I'm gonna go to Panera for lunch.
I'm gonna go to Target, I'm gonna go to Costco,
and then I'll get ready for the show. Okay, great,
I have a kirk Cousins day almost every day. It's
not a bad way to be get a Coles or
a Marshall's.

Speaker 3 (12:05):
In and you've won, see you. I like Coles? Now?

Speaker 1 (12:07):
Is that that's where you can return your stuff from Amazon?
Whereas like if you order, but like I just did
the whole Amazon buy before you try, before you buy,
because I bought sneakers, so you get like six pairs
of sneakers. You know they get delivered. I try them
on like Okay, I like this pair these five. I
don't bring him back. How do you need to box
them up?

Speaker 3 (12:23):
Like you?

Speaker 1 (12:24):
Just bring him to Coles in the box in the
in the regular shoe box and they go, yep, okay,
got it, drink drink DNK, You're good and they send
it right.

Speaker 3 (12:29):
Back for you. Cass for it.

Speaker 1 (12:32):
Yes, you get like a towy here. Come back in
the next three hours.

Speaker 3 (12:35):
Guaranteed to see Rob Parker there. Yeah, gotta figure out
that next batch of.

Speaker 1 (12:43):
Rob Parker could also be at Panera getting refills on
soaps that.

Speaker 3 (12:48):
No I got. Kirk Cousin.

Speaker 1 (12:49):
I have Kirk Cousins Days every day, man, it's it's
great Kirk Cousins Day. Today, I'm gonna go to Target,
I'm gonna go to t J Max. I'm having a
great day, a great day. Exit out a bout a Fresca,
exit swollen domees. Just understand, it's not that the Chiefs
are suddenly that I look, they're undefeated. They're they're steaming
their way to be in five and zero, they're up
sixteen seven. They're just instead of the traveling road show,

(13:10):
it's oh, this is not it's like this, it's like
if if a woman starts dating a guy and he's
so exciting. Right in high school, in college, he was
the most exciting guy out there.

Speaker 3 (13:19):
He was a rock star.

Speaker 1 (13:20):
He played in the band, and he comes out of
school and he's so cool and they always do all
these great things. And then as you get older, you
get married, you have kids, and suddenly he's working five
days a week. Maybe he's an it guy, and he's
wearing dress shirts to work and and and and Chino
pants or something. And it's like they got a nice,
responsible haircut, and it's like, remember when you.

Speaker 3 (13:42):
Were like that big rock star.

Speaker 1 (13:43):
He go, yeah, well, you know, I grew up now
and I'm still I'm successful and I'm doing well providing
for my family.

Speaker 3 (13:49):
I'm I'm just not the rock star. When I was
getting to your paces, I was twenty.

Speaker 1 (13:55):
Four, twenty five, I had long hair and I still
look smart because I wore glasses because I want to,
you know, make that work, because all glasses and long hair.

Speaker 3 (14:02):
He's smart and he's good looking. Yeah, I want to
make that thing work. Uh, that's me. That's me. It
sounds like you got a girl or two stoles. Oh no, no,
I just knew.

Speaker 1 (14:10):
I just knew so many guys. I'm like, I said, dude,
do you really need glasses?

Speaker 3 (14:13):
Ah?

Speaker 1 (14:14):
Kind of nuts. I'm smart but I have long hair.
Want to make sure you know that that that's I'm cool,
but I'm smart, So you know that's.

Speaker 3 (14:20):
What I am. Oh okay, I didn't have to advertise
that like that, that you were smart me.

Speaker 1 (14:25):
Yeah, did you ever have long hair? I can't even
picture you with long hair?

Speaker 4 (14:30):
No?

Speaker 3 (14:30):
You kidding? If I thought going to the to the
barber as a kid, it was. It was a woody
spoon man and things man.

Speaker 3 (16:21):
Well, if you ever thought the NFL was scripted?

Speaker 1 (16:24):
Who so Monday That Football just does a feature on
Kaylen Saunders brother, right, Kalyn Saunders, who plays for the Saints,
And this is a feature that he's one of the
dancers on Taylor Swift the erasto.

Speaker 3 (16:37):
Hey, how cool is this? Kaylen Saunders.

Speaker 1 (16:40):
The next play at tipball at the goal line and
Kaylen Saunders picks it off and runs it back to midfield.
The Saints have the football at midfield, down sixteen to seven.
The NFL is scripted. There's no way, hey tell that
story because Saunders has the interception on the next play.

Speaker 3 (16:57):
Oh okay, great about that, huh? Arian Foster had it
all figured out? Yeah, maybe he's right, He's right.

Speaker 1 (17:05):

Chiefs are not the team you knew to everything else
we wind up doing tonight baseball playoffs and Week five
in the NFL. But uh yeah, I mean, if you
ever thought NFL was fixed, that's that's your one right there,
that's your thing, right.

Speaker 3 (17:41):
There's your data point. Get that Wikipedia page up. Yeah,
I mean listen.

Speaker 1 (17:45):
I mean the Chiefs throw the same route on the
goal line that the Seahawks through for the interception against
the Patriots, and it's a tip ball, which it's it's
it's really hard to throw a slant on the goal
line that way, and Jude, you're.

Speaker 3 (18:01):
Throwing it with a like a ninety five mile an
hour heater like it's dead. But it's tough, you know
what I mean.

Speaker 1 (18:06):
Mahomes throws it and it's just not just a little
bit off, not quite off. Still should be caught, but
it bounces off of Juju Smith Schuster and right to
Saunders who takes it back to midfield. And now the
Saints are in business and we have a game. They
were going in for the kill shot. It was gonna
be over to me twenty three to seven, and instead
now we have a game.

Speaker 3 (18:24):
Joining us now on the hot line. Nobody better.

Speaker 1 (18:27):
Longtime NFL insider friend of the show, check them out
on Odyssey one O five seven. The fan in Baltimore,
Washington post on Twitter at Jason Lock and FOA. It
is Jason Lock and fora Jay, what's happening, Bud.

Speaker 4 (18:39):
What's going on? Gentlemen?

Speaker 1 (18:41):
Yeah, buddy, I'll tell you. You know, let's kick things
off of this game. Mike and I were talking about
this a few minutes ago. Is that, you know, watching
the Chiefs play, and I think everybody's gonna kind of
see it tonight. The chief says, we know them as
we knew them for the past seven eight years, are
dead all right in place of the high octane traveling
road show. It's just it's just another really good football team.

(19:02):
With a clutch quarterback. We have a lot of teams
like that. It's not a bad thing, but that that's
kind of what the Chiefs are now. They're just not
what they were.

Speaker 4 (19:09):
No, I mean they're doing it differently. Look, they still have,
for my money, Dave tob the best special teams coach
in the NFL. They've got a super clutch kicker. He's
Spagnolo is a top five de coordinator. Their biggest asset is,
despite them putting together what looks to be incredibly dynastic,
they've had no brain dram you know, they moved off
to John Dorsey, they upgraded to Brett Beach. Andy Reid

(19:30):
runs the whole show, and he's bella Chickian in his
ability to handle you know, checks and balances on personnel
and coach the team and run the offense. And the
way that Belichick ran the defense, Spags is elite. They've
done a really good job of massing talent on that
side of the ball. And Andy Reid's at a point

(19:51):
in his career where he's not he's got nothing to
prove to anybody. So I'll just run the ball. This
kid steal fumbles, all right, then he'll be going next week.
I'll find somebody else. Kareem Hunt, keep running with him.
He knows the shape of his skill positions right now.
He knows that his quarterback hasn't been good in the
red zone. And they're missing some pieces, like they don't

(20:11):
have a Jack McKinnon type who really unlocked things for
them in tight quarters. And they thought that would be
Kadarius Tony and it was And then they thought that
would be Hollywood Brown and he never got on the field.
And then you lose Rice on top of it, and
you're without Pacheco. So I think they understand what it
takes to win games. And they're not into style points
and they don't care if they cover or not. But

(20:32):
please keep going under, keep keep going under, keep going under.
And that's what they've become. They've become an under team.
They play games in the high thirties or low forties,
and the offense is good for twenty points. There was
a point in time where it was good for thirty
one or thirty four. That's that's just not it. And
you know they get a bunch of short fields from
the defense maybe, but you know, Mahomes is still going

(20:53):
to do a lot of exemplary things, and they'll make
some big moves by the deadline and then we'll see.
But like I mean, I'm thinking about you know, the
AFC is like the better conference or whatever, and like,
you know, Baltimore's defenses is got awful, right, They've they've
got the second worst pass defense in the NFL, like

(21:15):
the Bills, right, the Bills. But what's happened to them
the last two weeks? And all of a sudden they
don't have any wide receivers and the offensive line is
not performing quite as well. And you know what's up
with with Josh Allen's hand. You know, Houston's won a
really gutsy game last week, But I think Houston's been
uber conservative. I don't like a lot of the things
they're doing offensively. I'm not sure they're special defensively. Puncil's

(21:37):
a penalty machine, you know what I mean. So you
look at the field and you're like, give me the Chiefs.
You know they win every week by three points to
five points.

Speaker 3 (21:45):
That's fine, doesn't have to be pretty. Succeed and proceed
as they say, so as you did four Well, it's the.

Speaker 4 (21:55):
Greatest offense, right. The Pengals offense is nuts into the
din Seem monster and they're one and four, So wh.

Speaker 3 (22:03):
Would you rather be? Well, that's exactly where I was headed,
right You were talking about games, you know, scoring thirty
or keeping games in the thirties. There we get seventy
three points and overtime thriller. But as bad as the
Ravens defenses. They you see the Bengals defense all season,
Jason non existent. After all of the plaudits and Laurel

(22:25):
and Hardy crowns that were thrown at the feet of
an Aumo.

Speaker 4 (22:30):
Yeah, they're pretty broken right now. I mean, they did
get their dtackles back, which was huge for that game.
And look, they stifled Baltimore. Design run games went nowhere
until the Derrick Henry backbreaker, you know in overtime. But
you know they got some things going in a scramble
game with Lamar, but design runs were going nowhere. They've

(22:52):
got major issues. I mean, the back end of that
defense is a mess. And then Dax's Hill have been
playing well for them and that he's out of the year.
Like it's clear that Anna Rumo doesn't trust his corners
and doesn't trust his safety, so he blitzed Lamar like
crazy and that, you know, and back in the day
you could you could burn Lamar with the blitz. But
Lamar destroyed him when he blitzed and he found his

(23:14):
hots and he'd throw it underneath the day flowers and
he took it out to a tight end and let
get yack that way, and and the Bengals had no CounterPunch. Now,
the Ravens offense is clearly elite, but Cincinnati had multiple
ten point leads and couldn't do anything to stop it.
They couldn't they couldn't mitigate Lamar Jackson. Yeah, they've got

(23:39):
real problems there. You scored that many points at home
and you can't win. And look the kickers. I mean,
there's a lot of things that's going wrong for the Bengals,
but the bad exchange on the field goal. But yeah,
the defense is the defense. Uh is is suspect. I mean,
it's just it's suspect, as l Jay.

Speaker 1 (24:00):
Let's go to the Cowboys and the Steelers. Last night,
the Cowboys pull out a win at the end a
really rainy night in Pittsburgh was yesterday more, Hey, I'm
believing the Cowboys a little more. Or is this boy
the Steelers have more problems than we thought.

Speaker 4 (24:13):
Which is I think the Steelers are regressing. Yeah, I
mean I have to look, Dallas moved the ball some
but and they ran the ball in Pittsburgh way more
than I thought they could. But the Steelers defense, I think,
is be in trouble now. Patrick Queen looks pretty lost
without rol Kwan Smith. Not that the Ravens couldn't use
Patrick Queen back themselves, but because Rolcan Smith looks kind
of lost without Patrick Queen. But certainly Patrick Queen has

(24:35):
lost about Wilkwan Smith. Seemed like Watt spent more time
on the sidelines of that game than playing. He's banged up,
herbig has been a force of nature that looked like
the serious injury high Smith was already out. They couldn't
stop the run. A Dallas offensive line that hasn't been
special and backs that we know, you know in Zeke
and Battle who aren't special, and yet they moved the

(24:58):
ball at will. And if Dak had you know, not
made horror horrible decisions, they probably would have blown Pittsburgh out.
I don't know what Arthur Smith is up to. I mean,
justin fields should have ran the ball fifteen times in
that game he ran a five. I mean, I don't
know what the hell they were thinking. I mean, okay,
you don't have Cornwall Patterson, you could still play some
option football. There was a way for them, I think,

(25:21):
to control the ball. So yeah, I think there's major
questions to be asked about the Steelers. I don't buy
the Cowboys. I don't think the special and offensive line
or defensive line. City Land doesn't seem to be having
a whole lot of fun. I'm not a big zimmer
guy at this stage of his career. They're a middling team,
and I think that's you know, that's going to mean

(25:43):
you beat some teams who are a little lesser talented
than you, and you really don't beat anybody who's more
talented to you. And there's a lot of teams that
are more talented in them.

Speaker 3 (25:51):
Is that how you would describe the forty nine ers?
Upper middling? With no Christian mccaff I would.

Speaker 4 (25:58):
Have liked anything I heard at coming out of them.
Since they lost that Super Bowl, just the vibes, everything
about them has given me pause. And they toll apart
pretty significantly the last time they lost the Super Bowl.
Now we can talk about Jimmy ge get hurt and
all that, but I just haven't bought what they're selling

(26:18):
really all summer, and I thought the absences of Ayuk
and Trent Williams as long as it went. Wrote about
this at the Washington Post, talked to people around the
league who watched them in the preseason, like, you know,
what is this year going to be like for Brock
Purty and his get paid year? What if the offensive
line is even worse than last year? What if Trent
Williams is you know, hits the wall. And what if
McCaffrey gets hurt because it's been a lost so he

(26:39):
got hurt. A lot of those chickens have come home
to roosts. They're still a good football team. I didn't
think the ramaining like last year's year. I didn't think
they were going to win that division. Now I thought
the Rams would have. And the Rams have been decimated
by injury, and you know, what are the Seahawks and
what are the Cardinals? So maybe it all comes back
around to San Francisco. But I think the issues there

(27:01):
run deeper than just you know, a few guys being hurt.
I think that the way they lost that Super Bowl
and the way they have yet to sort of reach
their manifest destiny and how many more years are left
with that group. I just think they're in transition, and
rather than address it themselves, they kind of tried to

(27:23):
run it back. And I think a year older is
not going to be a year better for a lot
of them, all right.

Speaker 1 (27:28):
Jay, Lastly, when you look at what's next for DeVante Adams,
the Raiders say, hey, status quo for this week, missing
games because of his his injury, as he's on the
trading block, how does this end?

Speaker 3 (27:39):
When does this end for Davante Adams? Oh?

Speaker 4 (27:42):
I think it could happen this week and you know,
even the hamstring, like could he play for somebody else
this week? I wouldn't rule it out. I mean the
trade would have to be made pretty early in the week.
But you know it's going to happen. They're going to
hold out and hope that the Jets do something that
absolutely leaps you know, leaps the field or laps the field,

(28:04):
and short of that, I think they'll make a decision
by the end of the week to take whatever they
think is the best deal on the table. Uh. But
the fact that the Jets are Jets in as much
as they are, Like, there, what's the rush if you're
you know what I mean the Raiders, Like you've already
dealt with the distraction. Everybody knows he's going to be gone, Like,
he's not in your plans. You don't care what he

(28:27):
does at practice. He's got this injury that you can nurse.
So I really think it's about, you know, does Woody
Johnson do something as dumb as what he did to
get Aaron Rodgers in the first place.

Speaker 1 (28:39):
He's on Twitter at Jason lock And for that is
at Jason lock And for a Washington Post Odyssey one
oh five seven The Fan in Baltimore working on a
ten thousand word piece on the NFL prospects of Syracuse's
Kyle mccordy. Jays looking forward to seeing that when it
comes out.

Speaker 4 (28:54):
Fawn out in the desert.

Speaker 1 (28:55):
Yeah, take it easy, buddy, we'll talk to you, he
goes Jason locking Forth. Now, let me tell you this
really quick about the Jets. Right, all the stuff going
on with Rogers everything else, let me tell you something.
Next Monday, the Jets play the Bills. Yeah, that is
high noon for the Jets season. Because if the Jets
have another bad game, all right, there'll be two and four,

(29:17):
There'll be two games out of first place. Right, they
win their tied for first place, well, because the division
is awful, But if they have another bad we will offensively.
On Monday night, a couple of things are gonna happen.
They will trade for DeVante Adams, and either Robert Sala
or Nathaniel Hackett or both of them will get let go,
probably Hackett because you're worried about the offense, and because

(29:40):
Aaron Rodgers has already made it about Hey, he's already
being very vocal about he doesn't like things with the offense,
which okay, I understand that. So it's kind of Rogers
versus the offensive this place, much as he likes Nathaniel Hackett.
But Monday is high noon, rubber hits the road. Either
the Jets they do something this week because the offense
is terrible and I watch it and it's very predictable.
Try to do the same things. We're going to establish

(30:01):
the running game. And it's the same patterns. Who are
It's the same everything. There's no creativity, there's no little
bit something different. Well, here's a lot to get to it.
That goes deeper.

Speaker 3 (30:14):
But just in terms of timing with any of these
guys outside of the Lazard, it's it's so something's got
he catches that ball, Oh yeah, yeah, got yeah, exactly different.
And if somehow, if somehow Quincy Williams stays upright instead
of Sam Donald getting a finger on him and he
falls down, that's a that's a pick six, that's a

(30:35):
fumble return for touch. Donald's an incredible force. Are you kidding? Sam?

Speaker 1 (30:40):
Same Donald came back to the same Donald came back
to Earth yesterday. He was the but not because of him.
There was not one There was not one minute in
that game yesterday where I said Sam Donald's gonna beat us. No,
he's not the check out. What did I say? After
four weeks, that's when you get a lot of tape
on a quarterback.

Speaker 3 (30:59):
Let's see what happened. Sam Donald was just okay. You
know what I'm saying is you're now you're gonna start
seeing Sam Donald come back to the package. For four weeks,
you start seeing it, right, But still we ate, right,
nouch as we make fun of the Jets because, let's
face it, it's good for America and it's good for
the soul in troubling times is that their defense is

(31:19):
still still pretty decent. Yeah. Right, So Sam Donald having
a middling game, as we said he would in all
our fantasy uh ponderance over the course of the the
last few days. That wasn't a surprise. I mean that
that fell in line. There are actually more points in
that game than they thought there would be.

Speaker 1 (31:40):
Exit out about a Fresco exit swollen dome, trust me.
Next Monday is high noon for the Jets.

Speaker 3 (31:45):
And we'll be here on Fox Sports Radio chronicling it all.

Speaker 1 (31:49):
Right now, the guy who lost the first draw to
Gary Cooper to get knocked out in the semi finals.
Before high noon, it's Steve de Seger with what's trending
in the wide world of sports.

Speaker 5 (31:58):
Yeah, but I got Grace Kelly, so who cares?

Speaker 1 (32:00):
Yeah, you just lets go look at that Steve Singer
really is.

Speaker 3 (32:07):
That was brilliant. He's doing this update for Monaco, that's sure,
Prince of Monica. Four and oh Chiefs.

Speaker 5 (32:13):
By the way, an offense not so kingly if you
pointed out up sixteen thirteen over the Saints early fourth quarter.
But we must mention once again the defensive tackle Kaylin
Saunders of New Orleans and his brother because the story
was mentioned on Monday Night Football. His brother is a
professional dancer and choreographer backup dancer for Taylor Swift's eras Tour.

(32:36):
Taylor Swift is there at the game tonight in Kansas City.
They tell the story, show photos. Next play, goal line
interception by the defensive tackle who rumbles out of the
end zone about thirty five yards the other way. In fact,
next Gen Stats clocked him at a top speed of
about fifteen miles an hour on the interception return, which

(32:57):
for a ball carrier who weighs over three hundred and
twenty pounds, is one of the faster speeds they have
clocked in the past decade. So and turnover by Mahomes.
Patrick Mahomes has a streak now of ten straight regular
season games with at least one turnover, longest for any
Chiefs player since at least nineteen ninety one. So he
has three hundred three yards passing. We're just starting the

(33:18):
fourth quarter, opportunity after opportunity for KC and the lead
is only sixteen to thirteen against New Orleans. Three short
field goals in the first half for Harrison Bucker I
mentioned the goal line interception as well. By the way,
Juju Smith Schuster is the lead receiver for Kansas City tonight,
six receptions, one hundred and seventeen yards the star receiver receiving.

Speaker 3 (33:40):
And one deflection and one bad deflection that turned.

Speaker 5 (33:43):
Into of course, the star receiver Rashid Rice Courts not
there and expected to have his season over, according to
NFL media due to his knee ligament injury surgery coming
for him tomorrow. Texans wide receiver Nico Collins is called
week to week with a hamstring injury. He's leading the
league in receiving yards. Houston running back Joe Mixon has

(34:04):
been out since Week two with the bad ankle after
the hip drop tackle. Forty nine Ers kicker Jake Moody
will miss a few weeks with a high ankle sprain.
The Tampa Bay Bucks will fly to New Orleans tomorrow
instead of Saturday, ahead of Florida's next hurricane. Tampa Bay
plays this Sunday at New Orleans. The SEC Conference find
Vanderbilt one hundred thousand dollars because its fans storm the

(34:25):
field after beating Alabama over the weekend. Arkansas was fined
two hundred and fifty thousand dollars for a similar thing.
They are a two time offender.

Speaker 3 (34:33):
You see.

Speaker 5 (34:34):
Number one ranked Texas expects quarterback Quinn Ewers to start
against rival Oklahoma on Saturday after an oblique injury. The
WNBA is off the semifinals and tomorrow in the AL
Division Series, the Yankees have homered. The lead is for
to two Kansas City at Yankee Stadium. The game is
in the bottom of the ninth and no outs. Casey
trying to even up the best of five at a

(34:56):
game of piece. Detroit's tied at a game apiece after
somehow winning at Cleveland. The game was scoreless, top of
the ninth. Closer Emmanuel Classe best in baseball, was on
two two out singles and then a three run homer
from Kerry Carpenter. The Tigers win it after dropping a
seven nothing decision in the opener. In fact, in that game,

(35:17):
they were down five to nothing before they even got
an out, and they're going home tied at a game apiece.
The NL Division series each continue tomorrow on FS one,
five pm Eastern Time. The Mets host the Phillies, tied
at a game apiece. That'll be Sean Mani against pitcher
Aaron Nola nine pm Eastern Time on FS one, Dodgers
at Padres, tied at a game apiece. Dodger pitcher Walker

(35:39):
Buehler will start against San Diego's Michael King. Update from
the Football Xavior Worthy a three yard touchdown run. Jee's
lead now twenty three thirteen over the Saints, about twelve
minutes to go in the game.

Speaker 3 (35:51):
Back to you, Thank you, STEVEO.

Speaker 1 (35:53):
The Jason Smith Show with My best friend Mike Harmon

we'll have more foot ball on the way, baseball playoffs,
but you will meet the new sports villain, the team
you didn't know you wanted to hate, but you will
love hating them.

Speaker 3 (36:10):
Oh, let's go. That's next Jason and Mike Fox.

Speaker 2 (36:13):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern seven
pm Pacific, Fox.

Speaker 1 (36:22):
Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with My best friend
Mike Harmon. Chiefs up twenty three to thirteen over the
Saints ten minutes ago in the fourth quarter. We'll have
more in this game coming up in a few minutes,
but as we said a few minutes ago, look, sports
is always better when you have villains, of course, and now, boy,
do we have the villains that the Major League Baseball

(36:45):
Playoffs has absolutely needed because filling that role very nicely
are the San Diego Padres. They have just begun. You
know what, Hey, We're okay, that's gonna be our identity,
will be the villains.

Speaker 3 (36:57):
Do you think they watch Monday Night Raw or n
XT or SmackDown as a group and try to figure
out which heel they can grab little pieces from the
hip thrust and jes shows well.

Speaker 1 (37:11):
Definitely for Nanotis Junior because he was doing the hip
thrust at the.

Speaker 3 (37:17):
Moves right there.

Speaker 1 (37:18):
I mean, look, you saw yesterday the big story coming
off of Game two with the Padres and the Dodgers
fans throwing baseballs on the field of jerks and profar
and left field because uh, he snagged a home run
away from Mookie Betts early in the game, pretended he
didn't have the ball, really egged on the Dodgers fans.
Fans not happy, they threw a couple of base balls

(37:38):
at him. For Nano tatis Is thrust thrusting his hips
at the fans in the right field. I feel like
it's nineteen fifties Elvis. We can't show him from the
waist down. He's thrusting his hips at the camera. So
he's doing that, and then the teams are on the
field trying to figure things out. It's a crazy ass scene.
And then there's many Machado part of it, which has
now gotten even more interesting because part of what was

(38:01):
up yesterday with this whole thing, yeah, Profar, you have
to tease, and now Machado gets involved. He was upset
when Jack Flaherty threw and hit Fernando Tatist Junior. And
part of what's going on with Manny Machado is that
the Dodgers saying Machado threw a baseball into the dugout
at Dave Roberts, like in the middle of the inning,
when the inning was done, he threw the ball into

(38:22):
the dugout and it was thrown at Dave Roberts, and
the Dodgers brought this up and that's what they were
really pissed about. Machado says, I throw the ball into
the dugout all the time. At the end of the
day that I don't know what they're talking about. The
Dodgers said, no, if it was just a chucking the
ball and to the dugout, we would have said it
would be okay. But this was throwing the ball right
at Dave Roberts. The Dodgers have sent this video to

(38:43):
Major League Baseball for them to look at when it
comes for to Manny Machado and what went on during
this game. The Padres have simply decided we're gonna be
the villains and we're okay with criminals, all right, because
they know a couple of things. One, it's an identity
that pulls you together, and in a long baseball playoff,
you need everybody needs an identity at works. Hey will

(39:04):
be the villains. It's absolutely fine. But two, and he's
a more important thing. They know it gets under the
Dodgers skin. They know they get to the Dodgers, and
the Dodgers are now all the crazy stuff that you
normally see. Flaherty is throwing at people. He's yelling at
Manny Machaud and the Dodgers talking to major League Baseball,
they are mad, the fans are mad. They can get
under the Dodgers skin, and this is part of their strategy.

(39:25):
Because they know, hey, if we're gonna pull this upset,
we need everything going for us. And this is a
strategy that works because the Dodgers are completely now they're fighting,
they're playing the game, and now they're fighting this battle too.
And with video going to Major League Baseball, the Padris saying, hey,
our strategy is working to a t. Right now we
have figured everything out well.

Speaker 3 (39:42):
And you also had the Dodgers now have to answer
for the couple of idiotic fans, right, so you have
that part of it. The equation that comes in as
well of all right, you've got what fifty seven hundred
or whatever people that go and and just attend the game.
They move a sit for sleep, maybe they make some
hand gestures, but that's the end of it. Instead, you

(40:03):
got videotape of plenty of folks chucking balls whatever that
just and water bottles and the like. You got fights
in the parking lots. It becomes this whole other mythology
that takes away from anything this organization has been, which
has been sullied by some of the fighting in the
in the parking lots and incidents in the past. But

(40:26):
now it's front and center because you've got quote unquote
little brother poking the bear and not responding quite so well.
And when you've already got a team that has a
lot of questions from the starting pitching, getting through all
the bullpen stuff, Mookie Bets finally had a hit part
of like the red Sea and left field. What do
we do it?

Speaker 2 (40:46):
Now? Where are you?

Speaker 3 (40:47):
That's where you stand strong. You've got to create a
wall and make that hard. Nah here, sir.

Speaker 1 (40:53):
That's why I told you the Padres are the last
team the Dodgers wanted to play in the playoffs, criminals,
because all the emotions, in all the the intangibles the
Padres want to use is not one hundred and sixty
two game strategy that works, but it's a playoff strategy
that works, and it is working to a t for them.

Speaker 3 (41:11):
Right now. You match up really well as it is.
And now you take this just a little percentage over.

Speaker 1 (41:17):
We'll have more on this story and another big story
out of the NFL coming up next eaven. Right here,
Jason and Mike, you are listening to Fox Sports Radio.
