leaves and he heads to the to Pittsburgh, there's always
the question of, well, how did his teammates really feel
about it? Right that it's seeing he seemed a loof,

Well it's going to be me doing a dramatic read. Okay, yeah,
I only saw it in print. But it's the idea
that we have our our idea of who the man is, right,
and we see him on McAfee.

We've had a number of.

Clips and people have decided when he talked about being vaccinated,
inoculated verbiage and getting into semantics about verb choices uh
and and phrasing of who he is, worried about who
he's married to, or what he's doing in his personal life,
all of those kind of things. But when it comes

down to being a teammate, he's a guy that it's
not like You've had a lot of people go on
record to wag their fingers and say, hey, this guy
wasn't connected to what we're doing.

Add Breese Hall to the mix, quote very misunderstood person.
He said this to Troy Montgomery of Steelers Depot quote,
great dude comes off to people a certain way, but
once you really get to know him, you realize how
good a person he is. Last year, when you're losing games,
the blame gets put on the faces of the team.

When you're losing, someone asks to get let go. But
what people don't realize when stuff is crazy organizationally, that
it's hard for players to have stability and win games.
I love Aaron, me and him still have a great
relationship to this day.

That was another quote front that he gave to Albert
Brer along the way.

So I just want to say something about that. Here
he is praising Aaron Rodgers on what a great guy
he is. Forget about on the field, just off the field,
nice guy, misunderstood, blah blah blah. Who else does that
sound like? It sounds like Bill Belichick? Remember, Oh he's misunderstood.
He's that you got a great personality. He's very funny, right,
Remember we hear that all the time. He's very funny.
(09:20):
So what do these guys do. They're such great guys
and they're so funny behind the scenes, but when they
see media coming around, I want to act like a
horse's ass. I want to be as mean and spiteful
is anybody out there, and I want to go ahead
and get one up on the media. And what is
this all about, then, Mike, just to you know, just
to one up the media, or they just hate the

media so much that they can't stand them and this
is the way they want acting for them. Some such
great guys, you know.
Speaker 4 (09:49):
Well some of it you create a public persona, right,
I mean, look, at look at our business. We got
plenty of guys who, regardless of what they're talking, sports, politics, whatever,
what they say and what they believe are two very
different things, right, especially in our embraced debate world. All right,
you got which side today? Yeah, But I don't only
want to I call it in the air. I mean,
(10:10):
that's that's where we're at, with a lot of stuff
in these circles. And you know it, and I know it.
We've been in this business long enough. We know how
the sausage is made. So you've seen that.
Speaker 5 (10:20):
But you're such a great guy. But all of a sudden,
when it comes to the media, you're like, oh, I'm
going to attack or debate.
Speaker 4 (10:28):
But there's been a lot of guys that you know
will joke and poke at the media, but behind the
scenes you hear about all the things they do. Right
Popovich being forced to retire because of his health concerns,
What did you get story after story about how he
looked after guys when they drafted international guys.
Speaker 5 (10:44):
But that's a shot at that's a shot at the
fans too. When you're acting like that on TV.
Speaker 3 (10:48):
I don't think so as long as you're winning games
and you're not treating the fans like that.
Speaker 5 (10:52):
No, Well, who do you think is watching the game?
Speaker 3 (10:54):
Oh, they're enjoying the hell out of you. That's my coach.
Speaker 4 (10:57):
If you're winning, If you're winning, it works, right. So
for Belichick it worked until they didn't win anymore. True,
and then all of a sudden, you're putting, you know,
the guy with the pencil behind his ear as your
offensive coordinator.
Speaker 3 (11:09):
Now you got problems.
Speaker 5 (11:10):
For years, we didn't believe Belichick had a sense of
humor because he was so you know, so snippety to
the media.
Speaker 7 (11:16):
We're like, oh, there's the way this guy hasn't you
know what the Arnie I was always a sucker for
the show he did each week, and I forget who
the his host was and.
Speaker 5 (11:27):
The man not the man, No, no, no, no, no.
Speaker 4 (11:29):
This is long before, like when he was coaching in
New England and he would do basically the chalk Talk
half hour and they'd highlight big plays. He'd go on
for five minutes about how they came to use a
formation and what a guy you know, would say in
a meeting room, and he'd give you this whole backstory
and it's like it was fascinating television, like that's the

guy that I believe him to be. And then you
have all the stories about how funny is and you
know what a limericks and whatever else. But all that
to say, you know, you've got you know, public persona
and then there's the people that you are when when
the likes Jim.
Speaker 5 (12:07):
By the way, Jason Garrett did that once, the former
coach of the Cowboys. He brought in all the media
people and he put up some you know, some of
the film up on the board and before the play
was before the ball was snapped, he'd ask a few
of the media people, all right, what do you do
if you're the safety the quarters? Are you blitzing? Are
(12:27):
you backing out of it? And of course everybody was
coming up with the wrong answers. You just cost us
a touchdown, you just cost us the game, you just
cast us the division, you just cost us the super Bowl.
So it's pretty funny because the media not nearly as
you know, as smart about the plays as they think
they are. That's for sure.
Speaker 4 (12:46):
Well, but we we recognize that, and you're trying to
be that conduit and that's where you lean on the coaches.
Speaker 3 (12:52):
So when you.
Speaker 4 (12:52):
Don't get a gent what you believe to be a
genuine response from a Belichick of Popovich. Go to your
favorite coach and there's plenty of them. I mean, how
much are they going to give you because they've got
the next wrinkle of it for when they go to
the next next team. Right, Who're only showing you so
many of the looks?
Speaker 5 (13:11):
Right? I was gonna say, who's more hated, coaches talking
to the media or coaches talking to the officials. I
mean the way they talk to the officials, it is
just horrible. I mean absolutely horrible. The abused officials have
to go through with some of these coaches.
Speaker 4 (13:27):
Well, you know what, they get paid, and they're expected
to perform at a high level. And when we walk
away from games and we can point to one or
two or three plays that are in the balance, because
most of these games are in the balance. So as
much as folks can say, ah, one get one call
doesn't cost you, well, sometimes you don't have enough time
to recover from a bat.
Speaker 5 (13:47):
Yeah, But whether there's two hundred and eighty calls in
the game or three hundred calls in the game, you
gotta get all three hundred calls right, you're taking a
test with three hundred, you're getting all three hundred right
by friend.
Speaker 3 (13:56):
Come, But does that mean you don't work them for
the next call?
Speaker 5 (14:00):
Oh, of course you do well.
Speaker 4 (14:02):
But that's that's what you're doing, right, and your squad
hits the Jets. Reese all, is this just being a
good diplomat on the way out? Do you believe it?
Do you buy it? Or is he is he selling
you a bill of goods?
Speaker 5 (14:15):
No?

I buy it that he that he's being genuine about it.
I feel like all the players kind of, you know,
they did seem to like Rogers, And honestly, it's kind
of refreshing that the Jets are in the news and
it not to be some you know, crazy story that
happened that's just for the detriment of the team. Like, no,
it's just you know, complimenting your former teammate. But Rogers,
just like a week ago, wasn't he just roasting the
Jets run game?
Speaker 3 (14:36):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (14:36):
Like I think he was talking to Mark Shalleira, who
then you know, recounted it and saying, you want a
twenty five minute DIA tribe on the Jets run game. Well,
Breesehall plays running back, and he just went out of
his way to compliment him. So I think he comes
out looking like the bigger person, and Rogers is Rogers.
He's in another place now, so you know, both sides
can move on.
Speaker 4 (14:53):
I guess, yeah, I guess the context right of how
deep that went into the individual is actually on the
field versus how it was structured.
Speaker 6 (15:04):
Right, I think it was more about the run game.
But even then, it's like, dude, you brought in Nate Hackett.
It's all this stuff that's right.
Speaker 4 (15:11):
Right, But legitimately what that would actually lend to is
a kind of a distancing yourself from it because it
didn't work. So so now we get into the same
thing that we always do, and I'm gonna do I'm
gonna pull an Arnie here, and I'm gonna pull in
another great lebron James. And how much he stirs the
drink as to what goes on? Is the he the

shadow GM for the Lakers. Same thing here, because we
all just assumed Aaron Rodgers overran anything that was going
on in terms of play. Goll Selection, Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, He'll
overrun Arthur Smith.
Speaker 3 (15:47):
Are you kidding me?
Speaker 5 (15:48):
He's not overrunning Tomlin. I promise you that there's that's
not happening.

Is he getting fought on to me?

Well, this is me just a longtime observer of men
in situations to say what Aaron Rodgers wants. Mike Tomlin
obviously was okay with bringing him in. So maybe that
means you're okay when yes, after twenty years, he's suddenly
gonna be a different guy. Okay, whatever you say, Arthur.
(16:16):
I know this play isn't gonna work, but we're gonna
run it anything. No, that's not gonna happen.
Speaker 5 (16:19):
No, I just I you know, if Tomlin doesn't play
around though, I mean, unless he's given full ontonomy, and
he may do it, be doing that to Rogers, and
maybe that's the right thing to do. I don't see
it that way though. I think that, you know, there's
gonna be a happy medium somewhere between. But I don't
think Tomlin's just heading him the keys to the car
and they go go ahead, win us some ball games.
Speaker 4 (16:38):
I know he did it with Russell Wilson, and I'll
take my shot that Erin's a little bit more advanced
than that.
Speaker 5 (16:45):
We'll find We'll see if that's gonna happen. I still
think they're gonna be some five hundred there.

Look, they're over under was it was baked into the
cake when he finally signed the deal was eight and
a half.
Speaker 5 (16:54):
Yeah, that's that's exactly where they should.

Be, not not you know, showing off, not falling behind
part of the curve.

Exactly eight to nine is where I see them. That's
probably exactly where they're gonna be. Sub five hundred.

of an okay year average year.

around athlete, but obviously he taking up first quarterback skills.

That's well, that's just it. He has good field vision
and knows how to distribute. How about we go down
that road. But as we talk about the Steelers, and
you know Aaron Rodgers transitioning from Breiese Hall's comments about
his former quarterback and hey, good teammate, good communicator, good guy,
all of those fun things. He goes to Pittsburgh and

Mike Tomlin. And every year we or at least for
the last three or four years, we keep having the
same conversation about Mike Tomlin. Will they can they? Would
they ever dismiss Mike Tomlin or does it become eventually
one of those handshake deals of all right, we've gone
as far as we can. I'm gonna announce that I'm
stepping away either to the broadcast booth or take a

sabbatical or whatever the case is. And this would be
the season where we really push all in. It's been
ages since they've won anything substantive. And as much as
I think you as a Dolphins fan, ian as a
Jets fan, me as a Bears fan, would love to
be five hundred or better for a long streak, at

some point you want to see the actual damn pot
of gold at the end.

Of the Rainbow.

Right, Well, he's not going anywhere. The Rudis are not
firing him. It doesn't make a difference. He's he's got
a job for life. I mean, yeah, maybe you know
ten years down the line, who knows what that magic
number is gonna be. But he's not gonna walk away
from it. The Ruins are not gonna fire him. He's
gonna be there for as long as he wants. This
year's not gonna make a difference on what he does

with Aaron Rodgers. They're not gonna judge him on the
last twenty years based on what this one year does
with Aaron Rodgers. This is kind of like a throwaway
year if you ask me. So, I don't think there's
really any pressure for Tomlin on this year anyway.

So you're giving it a full Hey, anything goes carte
blanche because they get the hard reset next year if
I didn't.

What if they're good.

Enough that they don't get any like because next year's
supposed to be a great quarterback class, right And every
time we do that, I kind of get a kind
of smile because I can't wait to see how it
actually turns out.

A lot better overall all these years later, and then
we've had a couple since that.

all these guys that we'll have to figure it out
Jayden Daniels and all. But for next year, you might
be too good to get one of those guys. Now,
they do have some extra draft assets that you could
package back together to move back up and all of
those kind of things. But I think by bringing in

a guy like Aaron Rodgers, that's almost what you're setting
yourself up for. Oh, I mean committing extra draft capital.

They weren't going to tank, because that's not in Pittsburgh's nature.
That was especially when you've been over five hundred all
these years in a row, so that's not that's not
their DNA. It was the right thing to do to
bring in Aaron Rodgers. They wanted a couple other things
to go their way, but it didn't. Free agent, they'll
have to bring in another quarterback free agent wise and
move on from that after Aaron Rodgers. But they're not

gonna go to ground zero. Yeah, if they can get
a rookie quarterback, and you know somebody they could groom,
so be it. But it is tough when they're picking
it in the twenties. Every year for the most part.

Probably nothing half a game the over run theres eight
and a half. I think they'll win eight. But even
if they win nine, and they went nine and eight

But that's just it, right, you're not saying much in
the way of difference. A lot of it's going to
depend on the health of TJ. Watt And obviously DK
Metcalf comes in, saw some of those fun little graphics,
you know, fun with numbers thing about penalties, and certainly
he's a demonstrative player during this time in Seattle. Of
how many taunting penalties called against wide receivers the last

five years, it's off the charts, like, here's the wide
receivers all the way up here, something like thirty eight.
And then you look at all the other positioned one here,
one there, one somewhere else. So all that same, Now,
how much do you think how long is the leash
on your coach down in Miami.

McDaniel, how are you talking? You know, I'm surprised he
didn't get canned last year. There was talk now who
came out and didn't have flattering things to say about McDaniel.
I can't remember who was. And another for not former player,

he's had injuries with TUA, but we should have had
much better, you know, not luck, but much better years
than we've had. Right now, on the rim, I think
this is this year. It's all or nothing for him.
He better go ahead and have a remarkable year. And
they didn't make too many moves, So this is pretty

much running it back with him. We'll see how it
works out for him, but it's all or nothing for
him this year, I believe, well.

Because we've gotten through the bulk of the off season
and Tyreek Hill's still there.

That you don't have to be a you know, a
rocket sciight just to figure that one out. Who else?
Who else was going to win that division? Washington's good,
but they're not as good as Philadelphia, and it was
certainly not going to be the Giants. Like I said,
six wins, and we know Alas is even on the
same par as the other two teams, so that that
divisions pretty much.

I just want to see Russ versus Jamis versus Dark.

That that's that's where you want to see work and
see how it works out.

I don't really I mean, I really care about what
they're battling on the field. I want to see the
meeting rooms and what they're just kind of hanging out.
I think there's plenty of good outtakes that will flow
out of that. And the guy that two guys I
think that are interesting to me. Also that that rate
a mention in this vein Sean McDermott. We've been hearing
for years they're gonna get over and this is in

theory that year right with change afoot and looking at
what the Kansas City Chiefs were last year, they still won,
still had their run, but it wasn't a dominant performance
week to week, no question about it. But for McDermott
and for the Bills, the time would seem to be.

and the other is and I hate to do it
to him because I know my guy Andy Furman on
his he'll hear about it, is Zach Taylor. Now there
are a couple of years removed from the Super Bowl,
but you only get a couple of years to trade

and and Baltimore and Cincinnati pretty much have have won
that it's gonna be Baltimore. We know that Baltimore is

gonna win the division.

Six divisions already been won already? Yes? Pretty much six
divisions out of the eight. That might not be an
exciting year because we know that Buffalo, Baltimore, the Texans,
Kansas City, Philadelphia, and Detroit are all gonna win the division. Right,
They're all favorites too. I'm not giving you anything that

you don't know, Mike. It's not like, oh, look at
that's a hot sports opinion. That's not a hot sports opinion.
All those teams are are favorite and overwhelming favorites.

It just tells me you like chalk well.

Not only that, there's even the second place teams not
gonna make much of a run. The only second place
team maybe make it a run could be the Washington Commanders,
and they're not as good as Philadelphia. Otherwise, those divisions
are gonna be done. It's only the NFC South and
the NFC West, and the West probably gonna be San Francisco.
We're gonna win that division.

AFC South Houston plus one, ten, Jacksonville at plus two sixty,
Duval in Indianapolis at plus three point fifty, and then
Tennessee with cam Ward at plus eight hundred.

not like You've had a lot of people go on

When you're losing, someone asks to get let go. But
what people don't realize when stuff is crazy organizationally, that

So what do these guys do. They're such great guys
and they're so funny behind the scenes, but when they
see media coming around, I want to act like a
horse's ass. I want to be as mean and spiteful
is anybody out there, and I want to go ahead
and get one up on the media. And what is
this all about, then, Mike, just to you know, just
to one up the media, or they just hate the

media so much that they can't stand them and this
is the way they want acting for them. Some such
great guys, you know.

Well some of it you create a public persona, right,
I mean, look, at look at our business. We got
plenty of guys who, regardless of what they're talking, sports, politics, whatever,
what they say and what they believe are two very
different things, right, especially in our embraced debate world. All right,
you got which side today? Yeah, But I don't only
want to I call it in the air. I mean,

that's that's where we're at, with a lot of stuff
in these circles. And you know it, and I know it.
We've been in this business long enough. We know how
the sausage is made. So you've seen that.

But you're such a great guy. But all of a sudden,
when it comes to the media, you're like, oh, I'm
going to attack or debate.
Speaker 4 (10:28):
But there's been a lot of guys that you know
will joke and poke at the media, but behind the
scenes you hear about all the things they do. Right
Popovich being forced to retire because of his health concerns,
What did you get story after story about how he
looked after guys when they drafted international guys.
Speaker 5 (10:44):
But that's a shot at that's a shot at the
fans too. When you're acting like that on TV.
Speaker 3 (10:48):
I don't think so as long as you're winning games
and you're not treating the fans like that.
Speaker 5 (10:52):
No, Well, who do you think is watching the game?

Oh, they're enjoying the hell out of you. That's my coach.

If you're winning, If you're winning, it works, right. So
for Belichick it worked until they didn't win anymore. True,
and then all of a sudden, you're putting, you know,
the guy with the pencil behind his ear as your
offensive coordinator.

For years, we didn't believe Belichick had a sense of
humor because he was so you know, so snippety to
the media.

We're like, oh, there's the way this guy hasn't you
know what the Arnie I was always a sucker for
the show he did each week, and I forget who
the his host was and.

The man not the man, No, no, no, no, no.

This is long before, like when he was coaching in
New England and he would do basically the chalk Talk
half hour and they'd highlight big plays. He'd go on
for five minutes about how they came to use a
formation and what a guy you know, would say in
a meeting room, and he'd give you this whole backstory
and it's like it was fascinating television, like that's the

guy that I believe him to be. And then you
have all the stories about how funny is and you
know what a limericks and whatever else. But all that
to say, you know, you've got you know, public persona
and then there's the people that you are when when
the likes Jim.
Speaker 5 (12:07):
By the way, Jason Garrett did that once, the former
coach of the Cowboys. He brought in all the media
people and he put up some you know, some of
the film up on the board and before the play
was before the ball was snapped, he'd ask a few
of the media people, all right, what do you do
if you're the safety the quarters? Are you blitzing? Are
(12:27):
you backing out of it? And of course everybody was
coming up with the wrong answers. You just cost us
a touchdown, you just cost us the game, you just
cast us the division, you just cost us the super Bowl.
So it's pretty funny because the media not nearly as
you know, as smart about the plays as they think
they are. That's for sure.

Well, but we we recognize that, and you're trying to
be that conduit and that's where you lean on the coaches.

So when you.

Don't get a gent what you believe to be a
genuine response from a Belichick of Popovich. Go to your
favorite coach and there's plenty of them. I mean, how
much are they going to give you because they've got
the next wrinkle of it for when they go to
the next next team. Right, Who're only showing you so
many of the looks?

Right? I was gonna say, who's more hated, coaches talking
to the media or coaches talking to the officials. I
mean the way they talk to the officials, it is
just horrible. I mean absolutely horrible. The abused officials have
to go through with some of these coaches.
Speaker 4 (13:27):
Well, you know what, they get paid, and they're expected
to perform at a high level. And when we walk
away from games and we can point to one or
two or three plays that are in the balance, because
most of these games are in the balance. So as
much as folks can say, ah, one get one call
doesn't cost you, well, sometimes you don't have enough time
to recover from a bat.
Speaker 5 (13:47):
Yeah, But whether there's two hundred and eighty calls in
the game or three hundred calls in the game, you
gotta get all three hundred calls right, you're taking a
test with three hundred, you're getting all three hundred right
by friend.
Speaker 3 (13:56):
Come, But does that mean you don't work them for
the next call?
Speaker 5 (14:00):
Oh, of course you do well.
Speaker 4 (14:02):
But that's that's what you're doing, right, and your squad
hits the Jets. Reese all, is this just being a
good diplomat on the way out? Do you believe it?
Do you buy it? Or is he is he selling
you a bill of goods?

I buy it that he that he's being genuine about it.
I feel like all the players kind of, you know,
they did seem to like Rogers, And honestly, it's kind
of refreshing that the Jets are in the news and
it not to be some you know, crazy story that
happened that's just for the detriment of the team. Like, no,
it's just you know, complimenting your former teammate. But Rogers,
just like a week ago, wasn't he just roasting the
Jets run game?

Yeah?

Like I think he was talking to Mark Shalleira, who
then you know, recounted it and saying, you want a
twenty five minute DIA tribe on the Jets run game. Well,
Breesehall plays running back, and he just went out of
his way to compliment him. So I think he comes
out looking like the bigger person, and Rogers is Rogers.
He's in another place now, so you know, both sides
can move on.
Speaker 4 (14:53):
I guess, yeah, I guess the context right of how
deep that went into the individual is actually on the
field versus how it was structured.
Speaker 6 (15:04):
Right, I think it was more about the run game.
But even then, it's like, dude, you brought in Nate Hackett.
It's all this stuff that's right.
Speaker 4 (15:11):
Right, But legitimately what that would actually lend to is
a kind of a distancing yourself from it because it
didn't work. So so now we get into the same
thing that we always do, and I'm gonna do I'm
gonna pull an Arnie here, and I'm gonna pull in
another great lebron James. And how much he stirs the
drink as to what goes on? Is the he the

shadow GM for the Lakers. Same thing here, because we
all just assumed Aaron Rodgers overran anything that was going
on in terms of play. Goll Selection, Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, He'll
overrun Arthur Smith.

He's not overrunning Tomlin. I promise you that there's that's
not happening.

Well, this is me just a longtime observer of men
in situations to say what Aaron Rodgers wants. Mike Tomlin
obviously was okay with bringing him in. So maybe that
means you're okay when yes, after twenty years, he's suddenly
gonna be a different guy. Okay, whatever you say, Arthur.

I know this play isn't gonna work, but we're gonna
run it anything. No, that's not gonna happen.

No, I just I you know, if Tomlin doesn't play
around though, I mean, unless he's given full ontonomy, and
he may do it, be doing that to Rogers, and
maybe that's the right thing to do. I don't see
it that way though. I think that, you know, there's
gonna be a happy medium somewhere between. But I don't
think Tomlin's just heading him the keys to the car
and they go go ahead, win us some ball games.

I know he did it with Russell Wilson, and I'll
take my shot that Erin's a little bit more advanced
than that.

We'll find We'll see if that's gonna happen. I still
think they're gonna be some five hundred there.

cake when he finally signed the deal was eight and

you know Aaron Rodgers transitioning from Breiese Hall's comments about
his former quarterback and hey, good teammate, good communicator, good guy,
all of those fun things. He goes to Pittsburgh and

Mike Tomlin. And every year we or at least for
the last three or four years, we keep having the
same conversation about Mike Tomlin. Will they can they? Would
they ever dismiss Mike Tomlin or does it become eventually
one of those handshake deals of all right, we've gone
as far as we can. I'm gonna announce that I'm
stepping away either to the broadcast booth or take a

sabbatical or whatever the case is. And this would be
the season where we really push all in. It's been
ages since they've won anything substantive. And as much as
I think you as a Dolphins fan, ian as a
Jets fan, me as a Bears fan, would love to
be five hundred or better for a long streak, at

some point you want to see the actual damn pot
of gold at the end.

Of the Rainbow.

Right, Well, he's not going anywhere. The Rudis are not
firing him. It doesn't make a difference. He's he's got
a job for life. I mean, yeah, maybe you know
ten years down the line, who knows what that magic
number is gonna be. But he's not gonna walk away
from it. The Ruins are not gonna fire him. He's
gonna be there for as long as he wants. This
year's not gonna make a difference on what he does

with Aaron Rodgers. They're not gonna judge him on the
last twenty years based on what this one year does
with Aaron Rodgers. This is kind of like a throwaway
year if you ask me. So, I don't think there's
really any pressure for Tomlin on this year anyway.

So you're giving it a full Hey, anything goes carte
blanche because they get the hard reset next year if
I didn't.

What if they're good.

Enough that they don't get any like because next year's
supposed to be a great quarterback class, right And every
time we do that, I kind of get a kind
of smile because I can't wait to see how it
actually turns out.

Because that twenty eighteen class looks.

A lot better overall all these years later, and then
we've had a couple since that.

We'll wait and see.

We were just looking at McCarthy and Caleb Williams and
all these guys that we'll have to figure it out
Jayden Daniels and all. But for next year, you might
be too good to get one of those guys. Now,
they do have some extra draft assets that you could
package back together to move back up and all of
those kind of things. But I think by bringing in
(22:46):
a guy like Aaron Rodgers, that's almost what you're setting
yourself up for. Oh, I mean committing extra draft capital.
Speaker 5 (22:52):
They weren't going to tank, because that's not in Pittsburgh's nature.
That was especially when you've been over five hundred all
these years in a row, so that's not that's not
their DNA. It was the right thing to do to
bring in Aaron Rodgers. They wanted a couple other things
to go their way, but it didn't. Free agent, they'll
have to bring in another quarterback free agent wise and
move on from that after Aaron Rodgers. But they're not
(23:12):
gonna go to ground zero. Yeah, if they can get
a rookie quarterback, and you know somebody they could groom,
so be it. But it is tough when they're picking
it in the twenties. Every year for the most part.
Speaker 4 (23:24):
Still have to wonder, you know, what's the the win
difference when you'd have Aaron Rodgers versus Mason Rudolph.
Speaker 5 (23:34):
Probably nothing half a game the over run theres eight
and a half. I think they'll win eight. But even
if they win nine, and they went nine and eight
last year.
Speaker 4 (23:42):
But that's just it, right, you're not saying much in
the way of difference. A lot of it's going to
depend on the health of TJ. Watt And obviously DK
Metcalf comes in, saw some of those fun little graphics,
you know, fun with numbers thing about penalties, and certainly
he's a demonstrative player during this time in Seattle. Of
how many taunting penalties called against wide receivers the last
(24:05):
five years, it's off the charts, like, here's the wide
receivers all the way up here, something like thirty eight.
And then you look at all the other positioned one here,
one there, one somewhere else. So all that same, Now,
how much do you think how long is the leash
on your coach down in Miami.
Speaker 5 (24:24):
McDaniel, how are you talking? You know, I'm surprised he
didn't get canned last year. There was talk now who
came out and didn't have flattering things to say about McDaniel.
I can't remember who was. And another for not former player,
but another guy who's familiar with McDaniel, said, I can't
believe this guy's head coach. This guy's was a numbers guy,

he was a math guy, and now he's a coach
out there. I've done this show long enough with Plank
where I tom you know Chris. Sometimes I'm watching him
and he looks like the chemistry tutor or something like that.
He has no idea how to stop the bleeding. I
don't know if he's making any moves at aftime or
any adjustments. Sometimes he just feels like he's in over
(25:08):
his head. It drives me absolutely crazy, Baddie. I know
he's had injuries with TUA, but we should have had
much better, you know, not luck, but much better years
than we've had. Right now, on the rim, I think
this is this year. It's all or nothing for him.
He better go ahead and have a remarkable year. And
they didn't make too many moves, So this is pretty

much running it back with him. We'll see how it
works out for him, but it's all or nothing for
him this year, I believe, well.

Because we've gotten through the bulk of the off season
and Tyreek Hill's still there.

Who else was going to win that division? Washington's good,
but they're not as good as Philadelphia, and it was
certainly not going to be the Giants. Like I said,
six wins, and we know Alas is even on the
same par as the other two teams, so that that
divisions pretty much.

I just want to see Russ versus Jamis versus Dark.

That that's that's where you want to see work and
see how it works out.

I don't really I mean, I really care about what
they're battling on the field. I want to see the
meeting rooms and what they're just kind of hanging out.
I think there's plenty of good outtakes that will flow
out of that. And the guy that two guys I
think that are interesting to me. Also that that rate
a mention in this vein Sean McDermott. We've been hearing
for years they're gonna get over and this is in

theory that year right with change afoot and looking at
what the Kansas City Chiefs were last year, they still won,
still had their run, but it wasn't a dominant performance
week to week, no question about it. But for McDermott
and for the Bills, the time would seem to be.

Now it's another year of Josh Shanning at the top
and the other is and I hate to do it
to him because I know my guy Andy Furman on
his he'll hear about it, is Zach Taylor. Now there
are a couple of years removed from the Super Bowl,
but you only get a couple of years to trade
on that, particularly when your team's not ready to play
the first month of the season.

that's a hot sports opinion. That's not a hot sports opinion.
All those teams are are favorite and overwhelming favorites.

gonna make much of a run. The only second place
team maybe make it a run could be the Washington Commanders,
and they're not as good as Philadelphia. Otherwise, those divisions

the NFC West, and the West probably gonna be San Francisco.
We're gonna win that division.
