Speaker 3 (00:51):
Bills and the Jets.

Speaker 1 (00:52):
Inside of seven minutes ago in the fourth quarter, the
New York Jets the last two times out of the
football have missed field goals. Greg Zerline hitting the upright
both times, one time from thirty two yards out, one
time for forty seven yards out. It should be at
least a three point lead for the Jets. Instead, the
Buffalo Bills look like they are close. Even if they

(01:13):
don't get in the end zone with a short field goal,
that's gonna give them a lead. And boy, it's gonna
suck when the Bills win this game by a touchdown.
I mean really, I know I got the Mets, So
it's gonna suck when the Bills win this game by.

Speaker 4 (01:23):
Yeah, it's been a very difficult watch me watching you
as you watch these zerline field goal tries and incredulously
look up because the wind socks are hanging straight down, right.
We had all of the talk coming into the game
wind advisories, right, and that was all over the place,
like if it was really that windy, are they now

(01:45):
tied down? Because otherwise they'd be flying and flapping in
the breeze. But yeah, just a couple of miserable up
like the thirty two year old yard. It's almost like
he was playing the game you do when you go
all right, we're gonna play the crossbar challenge and to
soccer practice. Yeah, that's kind of what he looked like
he was doing, like I'm gonna hit it right here,
wats this?

Speaker 1 (02:06):
And meanwhile, look like the Jets are going to hold
the Bills to a field goal. Coverage von Kinlaw gets
called for roughing Josh Allen after an incomplete pass on
how Buffalo has first and goal from the nine yard line,
where a touchdown would really make it a tough go
for the Jets to try to get down the field,
who have not been able to get down the field
at all since Aaron Rodgers Hail Mary and the first time.

Speaker 4 (02:26):
But you know that Hail Mary is always in the arsenal.
As long as we haven't Hay, we'll hit it. You know,
you can get sixty are yards. Let's go, let's use it.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
A couple of times. Look, it's it's a very frustrating game.
The officials have really taken it over. There have been
ridiculous calls on both teams. It's been it's like every
every time there's a play, if you are as there
flag like it's one of those things like I'm looking
for a flag after every single play. And that's not
how the NFL want, That's not how you want this

(02:55):
to go.

Speaker 3 (02:55):
Standalone game.

Speaker 4 (02:56):
We talked about it a little bit last hour with
Jason lockefore where you you I've just tried to decide
what's enough contact again, owing to the world of soccer,
are we going to call the fall or you know,
or are we not?

Speaker 3 (03:07):
You know? Is it a free kick? Is it not?
Like where we drawn that.

Speaker 4 (03:11):
Line in the sand, And they've certainly done that with
both secondaries, and then we've watched them mind numbingly confusing
calls on offensive linemen.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
You know what constitutes holding?

Speaker 4 (03:22):
We talked about it a little bit before the you know,
the personal foul penalty that went on. It's like, well,
the ball's not been released yet, is he not just
finishing a block.

Speaker 3 (03:32):
At that point?

Speaker 4 (03:33):
Right, letter of the law, spirit of the law, all
of that, But it just makes it a very difficult
watch at times, like, all right, what it constitutes a
legal contact in the secondary on both sides? And we've
seen a lot of former athletes chiming in, like in
a big way. I don't know that everybody's sat at

(03:54):
the keyboard like they are tonight.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
Now.

Speaker 1 (03:58):
Meanwhile, speaking of to sit at the keyboard and say things, Yeah,
there is criticizing a team, there's criticizing a coach, and
then there's going full scorched earth, which is what Bill
Belichick did a few moments ago on the Manning Cast
with Peyton and Eli talking about the New York Jets franchise. Obviously,

(04:19):
the Jets are playing this game, first game since firing
Robert Sala.

Speaker 3 (04:22):
And you know Belichick who doesn't.

Speaker 1 (04:25):
Like the Jets, not only from his rivalry with the
team the last twenty years, but he resigned as head
coach of the Jets. He doesn't like Woody Johnson. He
hates Woody Johnson, the owner of the Jets.

Speaker 4 (04:35):
But might need to do a little more of the
history lesson on that as a Jets fan, because I
think a lot of our audience doesn't recognize that he
was actually the Jets coach.

Speaker 3 (04:43):
Yeah, albeit briefly. Yeah no, no.

Speaker 1 (04:45):
When Bill Parcells retired in two thousand, Bill Belichick was
named head coach of the Jets and then resigned at
the press conference and passed a note saying I resigned
as HC of the nyj and then went on to
go become the head coach in New England and build
a dynasty. He's asked about it, he talks about it
on the Manning Cast, and he also takes a moment

(05:07):
to light the Jets franchise up.

Speaker 5 (05:10):
That's kind of what it's been there at the Jets.
You know, barely won over thirty percent in the last
ten years, so you know, the owner being the owner,
just ready fire aim.

Speaker 6 (05:21):
But Bill, you mentioned I mean in ninety nine you
were the d C for the Jets Parcelfs and the
head coach. He stepped down and you replaced him for
a day before resigning. We have a recreation of your
resignation letter that we can show here. You will quote
I resigned as HC the Jay and you rute it
on a napkin. Looking back, what's a stranger have you

(05:42):
resigned on a napkin? Or that you couldn't be bothered
to write out the words as head coach?

Speaker 5 (05:49):
I was tight on space. Look, Peyton, I was the
head coach of the Jets twice. I was a head
coach before Parcels came there, and I was head coach
after Bill resigned.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
Undefeated, unscoreed on all.

Speaker 1 (06:04):
Right, Belichick, Bell just got jokes. Now Beligi's got jokes,
He's got jokes.

Speaker 3 (06:12):
But here they want to getting Jets head coach over.

Speaker 1 (06:15):
I mean this said, yeah, I mean, look you heard
him say it right there when their games. The owner
being the owner, ready fire aim. You know I'm firing
Robert Sala and I get it. Look, I get it.
Bill Belichick hates the Jets and he and he has
and he's hated Woody Johnson. But I will tell you this,
right you want to let's be honest now, Bill, Yes,
you hate the Jets for.

Speaker 3 (06:34):
And I don't know why, Like Woody Johnson wasn't.

Speaker 1 (06:36):
Really the owner for that long and he was named
the head coach, and he's never talked about what went
on that that turned him into why I'm resigning after
a day? Like like I don't know what he's built
up over the last twenty four years. He's never talked
about it. But I'll tell you this for certain, all right,
I'll tell you this for certain. Yes he hates the Jets. Yes,
he hates Woody Johnson. If the Jets called him too more,

(07:00):
if they said we don't like Jeff Ulbrick, what went
on to them? If they called him tomorrow and Woody
Johnson called him himself tomorrow and said, Bill, it's been
a while, it's been twenty four years, would you come
back and coach? He couldn't get to one met life
drive fast enough to be a head coach again in

(07:21):
the NFL where he can coach against the Patriots and
get closer to Don Shula. I know that all the
rumors with him and the Cowboys are gonna go crazy
because the Cowboys are terrible. But he would go coach
the Jets tomorrow if they called him, because he knows
that he doesn't have any real cachet anymore. And if
he gets back into the league somehow, it's incredibly lucky

(07:43):
and he and if they called again. That's why if
they called him tomorrow and Lake saying tomorrow, if they
called him tomorrow, he would show up Jets hat, hoodie,
sleeves cut off. Here's my new look, new Jets law.
I'm ready, guys, give me my whistle. I'll go out coach.
He would coach the Jet tomorrow.

Speaker 4 (08:01):
What's the curiosity to it all? If we could get
into the mind of Bill Belichick. I like your theory
that he would walk through that door, But it's really
the ultimate test of loyalty. How much does he hate
the Jets as a franchise? And whatever's there right, Maybe
it's for a tell all book that'll be published posthumously

(08:23):
somewhere down the line. Maybe it's all sitting in a
vault already written and ready to go and maybe he's
already recorded that audiobook.

Speaker 3 (08:30):
We don't know.

Speaker 4 (08:32):
But how much does he hate them versus what's the
real status of the relationship with Bobcraft, because that's the
thing that would propel him towards Jetstam as much as Hey,
I got an opportunity to go coach in the league again,
because I probably believe he will have another opportunity to
coach in the league at this point, just a question
of where right. McCarthy's not going to get fired tomorrow.

(08:55):
It was funny when he you know, everything Jerry said
yesterday and that he was really late for his presser today,
So all of a sudden, everybody's like, oh wow, this
could actually if you have it. So they have to
go and release press releases of no, no, no. Meetings are
just running late. It's like, no, no, that this really
opens a whole other can of worm. But I mean,
Doug Peterson's getting fired.

Speaker 3 (09:15):
See, but here's here's the thing.

Speaker 4 (09:17):
This is where he gets So it's getting back in
the NFL versus a level.

Speaker 1 (09:20):
Listen, he wants to get back in. He wants to
get back in with a good team because he wants
to passed on Shula. Right, he knows he's not going
to have that long he wants to do it. No,
the Jets are a pretty good roster. Right, One thing
we know, the Jets are a pretty good roster. But
you know, to take it in a different direction than
the Jets, but they don't have a quarterback. If you think,
stop Rogers having he's fine.

Speaker 3 (09:37):
He cost he's hail Mary thrower. Rogers having a pretty
good night tonight. Throw the football and get away from
a wheelchair. He's fine. Well, well that's protecting.

Speaker 4 (09:46):
But we did say coming in he he should have
been able to have a day because Buffalo has not
been able to surmount.

Speaker 3 (09:52):
No, they're one of the lower pressure teams.

Speaker 1 (09:55):
Him throwing the football, it makes you think that, okay,
maybe it was a scheme thing because clearly they are
throwing the football much better. He's throwing it better down
the field. I got to hear it all out. I
gotta throw all these really bad passes. But I will
tell you this. You want to left turn for Belichick
at the Jets. You think Jerry Jones isn't gonna make
a move with Mike McCarthy and right now, no, he's

(10:17):
not three and three that's not gonna happen. If the
Cowboys fall out of contention, bye, let's say Thanksgiving, right,
Let's say Thanksgiving happens, he will offer the job to
Belichick to coach the rest of the season. He's not
gonna go all the way through with Hey, We're gonna
wait till the offseason. He will say, Bill, come in now,

(10:39):
learn the players, learn everything going on, and then you'll
hit the ground running next year. And Belichick will say, okay,
because maybe I can get three wins closer to Don Chula.
Who knows how it's gonna go, right, I'll get three
wins closer to Don Schula if they fall out, and
they got to fall out of it, right, it's got
to be where the Cowboys are. You're talking about getting
to Thanksgiving, you know, four games under five hundred. If

(11:02):
things get really, really bad, we told you the Cowboys thing,
so it could happen.

Speaker 3 (11:05):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (11:06):
If that happens and they fall, he will not sit
here and have the Cowboys go anonymously. He's not gonna
go fight for Belichick in the offseason. He will go
and he will replace him, and he will hire Belichick.
After Thanksgiving. Absolutely, when they scored their first touchdown on Thanksgiving?
Does he go run and jump in the kettle? I
can't really jump in and it's kind of slow. Yeah, listen,

(11:30):
we'll get to that in a second.

Speaker 3 (11:31):
We'll get to that in a second. I don't know.

Speaker 1 (11:33):
Yeah, yeah, we'll get to that in a second. We'll
finish with Bill Belichick.

Speaker 4 (11:37):
Uh, he will go because look, Jerry Jones is not
going to have the Cowboys spiral into oblivion without it
being front page news. And if the Cowboys are bad
by after Thanksgiving, which will be the official point of
we'll stop paying attention to Cowboys because it's after Thanksgiving,
We're into the December.

Speaker 1 (11:57):
And the playoff chase, he will do something. And he's
not gonna want to fight for Bill Belichicka he will,
he will replace him, and that's the guy he will
go to. And Belichick's gonna have to say yes, because, Okay,
where else do you want to coach besides Dallas? You
have Dallas. You can get close. Look, we know you
want to get close to Shula. Right, this is not
a rebuild. He's not gonna be hires a coaching to rebuild.

(12:17):
As much as Belichick seems like he's an attractive candidate.
Now there's only a couple of teams that he'll be
able to go with because he's gotta go with teams
that are quote ready to wait away. Now you can't.
They're not gonna they're not gonna charge him with Hey,
rebuild a team. We just watch you tear the patrons
down to the studs and they're terrible. So it would
have to be one. And so all of a sudden,
you think, oh, there's gonna be some teams. Well, he's

(12:38):
not gonna go to Jacksonville, right, he's not gonna go.
It's gotta be okay. There's only a couple of teams
out there. The Giants look like maybe not right, they're
playing a little bit better, but he's kind of holding
out hope for a cuple But the Giants have a
lot of talent, So yeah, and go coaching.

Speaker 3 (12:50):
In New York.

Speaker 1 (12:51):
But they really aren't any good. So the Cowboys come up.
All right, I have my quarterback and my star wide receiver,
I have our defensive player. I'll get a couple more wins.
We'll win two more games, all right, he will say yes,
I'll say sorry, Pat McAfee, I was entertaining and laughing
as much as I could. But now I got to
go be a head coach again.

Speaker 4 (13:11):
Yeah quickly, Giants. Giants are closer than one would would think.
I mean, obviously you could run a bunch of metrics
about how terrible Daniel Jones' is in primetime games and
at home and whatever else. That game was winnable last night.
They did a good job outside of that giant run
from Joe Burrow to get things started. Who the hell
saw that coming? But otherwise defense showed up and eventually

(13:32):
you'll figure out Molik neighbors and everything else. But for
the Cowboys just I mean, it's a much larger topic.
But coming off of yesterday's game, I get it. Historically,
you are not a guy that fires coaches in season.
That was a gutless effort, like just all around, they
got run from pillar to post. And yes, this goes

(13:53):
back to they took it personally right, Dan Campbell put
him with the Jordan iPad meme for the kind of
plays he was calling in the formations and all the trickeration,
using offensive linemen every way you possibly could. That was
an embarrassing loss from pillar to post. So if you're ever.

Speaker 3 (14:11):
Gonna get rid of him.

Speaker 4 (14:13):
That would have been the I'm giving myself the greatest
birthday present ever. This is Bill Belichick.

Speaker 3 (14:18):
Welcome in.

Speaker 1 (14:20):
Exit Out about a Fresco exit swelling down The Jason
Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon Live from
the tire rack dot Com Studios.

Speaker 3 (14:30):
Quick update because Frostburg brought it up.

Speaker 1 (14:32):
Aaron Rodgers looked like he fumbled trying to throw a pass.
Maybe he was trying to tuck the ball back in,
but his arm was going forward.

Speaker 3 (14:45):
Officials, who have not had a.

Speaker 1 (14:47):
Good night tonight, to be kind, ruled an incomplete pass,
so the Jets get to keep the football facing a
third and four right now, under three minutes left to
go and another play. Another flag is not what the
NFL wants. Man catch the ball?

Speaker 3 (15:04):
What kind of ending to this game are we going
to have?

Speaker 1 (15:07):
I guarantee the officials will throw a flag on the
final play they very well it.

Speaker 3 (15:10):
Is an apps.

Speaker 1 (15:11):
This is This is a really difficult watch, and I'm
telling you this for both the Jets and the Bills.
It is a really difficult watch. But where are we
after Monday Night football? The Jets tied for first place
with the Bills. Is it over for Aaron Rodgers. That's
next right here, Jason and Mike. You are listening to
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (15:29):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (15:40):
The Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon. Yeah, Bunny, Hey, Jason,
could you tell me about the Jets in one play?

Speaker 3 (15:47):
Why? Yes, Yes, I can. We'll get it.

Speaker 1 (15:50):
We'll get to how unwatchable this game has been because
of the officiating. In a few minutes, but the Jets
had a chance to have the ball less than just over.
It's over two minutes left to go, facing a third
and sixteen, and Mike Williams breaks open deep and Aaron
Rodgers throws on the ball.

Speaker 3 (16:08):
It's going to be a.

Speaker 1 (16:09):
Forty yard gain, except Mike Williams slips and falls No,
and instead of a catch, instead of a forty yard gain,
the Bills get an interception.

Speaker 3 (16:18):
Not to be fair, he did have to wait all
day for that ball to get there.

Speaker 1 (16:21):
He did, but he had to get to an open
spot and Williams is wide open. It should be a
forty yard gain, except Toron Johnson's able to come over
and get it because Williams falls down. So now the
Bills have the football less than two minutes left to go.
They're facing second and five. The Jets do have three
timeouts left, they've used one, so they could in theory,
get the ball back if they stop the Bills here.

Speaker 3 (16:42):
However, the Jets.

Speaker 1 (16:43):
Most likely what's going to happen is the Bills will
win by a field goal. The Jets are going to go, well,
what an awful Monday night. All the penalties on both teams.
We missed two field goals in the second half, including
one from thirty two yards. The Jets are completely jetting
right now. He's completely jetus.

Speaker 4 (16:58):
Do you need to go get a Kyrie Irving sage brush?
I mean just for that building in general, because both
those teams suck. No, just in that building. What's buried there?
Just I mean, because it is Halloween season and it's
Stephen King movies and TV shows all over the place.

Speaker 1 (17:12):
What's in that burial ground there is? I just have
to go home and just watch more Mets highlights, is
what I have to do.

Speaker 5 (17:17):
It.

Speaker 1 (17:17):
I'm gonna cleanse my palate. I gotta watch more Mets highlights.

Speaker 4 (17:20):
I figured that would be tacos followed by ice cream.
I gotta watch Steven Cenzo jowing at Rick Brunson. I
just gotta go watch. I gotta hey palate cleanser. Let
me go watch the Alonzo home run for Moneyball from
the Brewers. Okay, let me watch Lindor home run Moneyball version. Okay,
did you create yourself a supercut just yet?

Speaker 3 (17:37):
That's all?

Speaker 4 (17:37):
It's like, what's my playlist? No, it's a super cut
of the highlights, But what's the music. It's just the
money Ball. No, the Mets are my companion animal. Now,
it doesn't mean whenever I'm feelings that, Okay, I just
got just I'll just go watch.

Speaker 3 (17:48):
You know, it's only tied one one. I'll just go
watch that. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (17:51):
But I mean we're three games away from the World Series.
This is this is it?

Speaker 4 (17:55):
Like this this is silly from joining the White Side,
this silliness of the jet says, I mean, come on, man,
I can't.

Speaker 3 (18:01):
I mean it's only week six. I mean you can't
invest too much.

Speaker 4 (18:05):
Not to be fair, I mean Rogers, I mean that
one was late, like look, Williams was dancing by himself,
had to come back for the ball, but he has
thrown the ball batter. Bills haven't been able to put
a lot of pressure on but even when they have
doesn't matter because we're calling holding and random flags.

Speaker 3 (18:21):
At every appetitudity.

Speaker 1 (18:23):
Let's look, and you know, me, being Jets fan, I'm
gonna be honest about this game. Where we sit right now,
this is regardless as to how it ends. The Bills
lead the Jets twenty three to twenty again about just
under a minute to go in the fourth quarter. So
far tonight, there have been twenty three except accepted accepted

(18:44):
penalties in this game. The Bills have been flagged sorry
twenty two eleven times for ninety four yards, the Jets
eleven times for one hundred and ten yards. This game
is unwatchable. There have been flags on six of the
last seven plays, and on some of the plays are
their flags? Yeah, on every play? No, And what the

(19:07):
NFL has done this game is absolutely unwatchable. It is
an unwatchable game because every play I'm looking for a flag.
After every single play I'm looking for if everybody's looking
for a flag, something is happening right, and again sometimes
it's a penalty. Okay, I get it, but really, I
mean you're seeing both teams where there's lots of stuff

(19:30):
that would normally be let go, right, Like there was
a penalty that the Bills got called for pass interference
where whoa, it's past interference, not holding, it's past interference
and the ball is way over Garrett Wilson's head like
he's not catching this, but you call pass interference. Oh,
that's something where you keep the flag in your pocket. Right,
Joe Tipman, Jets center just got called for holding when

(19:51):
the Jets had a screenplay that were breaking in for
a first down and it wasn't as much a hole
as much he pushed the guy and is at his
top of his head moved while the ball was going
going around where Breeze Hall is. So I don't know.
I mean, that's something that you normally just let go.
But they called, they blow the whistle on it, and
it makes the game unwatchable. And it's really really difficult

(20:12):
because here's your big product on Monday Night. You have
Aaron Rodgers, Josh Allen, and every other play is a flag.
Every other play is a flag, and it's really difficult
to see.

Speaker 7 (20:22):
You want another big takeaway from this game? What's that
Jets sucking was not Robert Solad's fault.

Speaker 1 (20:28):
I gotta say the offense looked a lot better tonight.
I mean, where they have like four hundred yards of offense,
the Jets offense looked a lot better the defense, But.

Speaker 4 (20:35):
The discipline is still like And we can talk about
the officials and we certainly recognize their failures, and they're
wanting of screen time tonight, there's no question about that.
But there's also a if you're getting called for eleven
or fifteen or however many it's been, those accepted, those not,

(20:56):
there's still a problem, right because a few of them
we're gonna couch on both.

Speaker 3 (21:00):
It's a quarter, that's.

Speaker 1 (21:02):
Not a Rogers threw for three hundred two touchdowns. He's fine, No,
honestly attempted what he just did to Mike Williams. He
has to know, Mike, Mike Williams, he's so underthrown. Mike
Williams didn't get hit.

Speaker 4 (21:15):
Mike Williams's catch up ball, well, the guy came over
the top and got some contact with him.

Speaker 3 (21:19):
Going to take it from him after he was on
the ground. He wanted Mike Williams to die.

Speaker 1 (21:26):
He threw that ball like you wanted Mike Williams to
stand there and catch it, like a center field turn
and catch the ball.

Speaker 3 (21:30):
Looks.

Speaker 2 (21:31):
But but also he.

Speaker 1 (21:32):
Is throwing the ball better tonight than he was against
the Vikings. I feel better for that because he was
throwing the ball a lot better than he did a
week ago.

Speaker 4 (21:40):
Well, but again, go, we had the Patriots game, and
then you have a team that actually has a pass
rush and a scheme that gets after you, and then
we're back to the Bills where they're not.

Speaker 3 (21:50):
No.

Speaker 1 (21:51):
The Jets entire look tonight's game. Tonight's game, Rogers has
played better. The Jets offense was better. He threw for
three hundred, they ran for one hundred and fifty. Right,
that's a pretty good night offensively. And you still score
twenty points, right because you had your kicker missed two
field goals, which is inexcusable. And Josh Allen, you could
not get your arms around him when he was keeping

(22:14):
plays alive. When you get your arms around him, he's
got to go down. And I get it, maybe not
every play, because Josh Allen is very escapable and I
get that, but how many plays do you have to
see where you know he's going to have the football.
You got to bring him down and on this last
play right now, because the Bills are going to be
kneeling on the football. On third and five, Josh Allen
keeps it and the Jets don't contain and he runs

(22:35):
outside for the first down, stands up and gives the
big first down marker. I mean, you know Josh Allen's
going They're not going to say, hey, Ray Davis, go
get five yards on this play. You know Josh Allen's
gonna have the ball. But nope, the Jets let him
pull away the fake.

Speaker 3 (22:48):
They don't.

Speaker 1 (22:49):
They don't have any integrity on the edge. Alan's allowed
to run outside first down. Bills they're kneeling on the ball.
The game's going to be over and the Jets are
two and four and things are just as bad as
they were week ago. For all this excitement, no Robert
Sala and all the changes we're gonna do more on offensive.
This has been a disaster for the Jets to night,
just an absolute disaster for them all across the board.

(23:11):
Because it's supposed to be a new game, a new week,
a new identity. You're playing at home on Monday night,
and you lose a game because you make too many mistakes.
Officials were terrible. They were terrible for both sid I'm
not going to say the Jets lost because the officials, No,
the officials made the game unwatchable for anybody watching the game.

Speaker 3 (23:29):
That's both sides.

Speaker 1 (23:30):
But what you're doing right now, like I watch Jets
and I go, how bad is the season going to get?
That's where I'm at right now, Like, how bad is
the season really going to get? Because this was the
easier part of the schedule. They were started with games
against Denver.

Speaker 3 (23:42):
Where are they? They're two and four, They're two and four.

Speaker 1 (23:44):
They're not out of it because matth Malka two and four,
the Bills are four and two. No, you're still okay
at two and four. But I know, I told you
if they don't get out of the gate fast, this
season is going to spiral out of control. They've already
fired their head coach, they already continue to make big mistakes.
They already defensively, they can't make enough plays when the
defense supposed to be the hallmark of the team, and

(24:05):
they can't they can't make field goals?

Speaker 3 (24:06):
Now zerline, who.

Speaker 1 (24:07):
Is terrific up until tonight, Like I don't know how
long it's been until this season gets really really bad,
because if I'm Aaron Rodgers right now, I'm walking off
the field going, man, We've only played six games. I
don't know how much better this is gonna get. We've
only played six games. This is a long season. Man, Man,

(24:29):
do I want to play another year after this? Do
I really want to come back to this? Like this
is I'm seeing just an amount of time in front
of him that just seems like it stretches on forever,
because that's how the Jets work, and that's what happened.

Speaker 4 (24:42):
I'll tell you one of the things that plays that's
gonna be shown a million times is also a tackle
that Rap made in the open field.

Speaker 3 (24:51):
The Jets end.

Speaker 4 (24:52):
Up having to settle for a field goal, but it
was an opportunity you cut back towards the middle of
the field and make them play instead. He gets to
use the sideline an extra defender, stopping them short. And yeah,
Hall was one on one and then the Bills make
a great goal line stand to force a field goal.
So you know, you got the plays within the players, right,
the zerline misses are gonna be the thirty two yarder.

Speaker 3 (25:13):
I mean, come on, I mean you can't. You can't
miss from thirty two many the other one, right, it's
forty seven still.

Speaker 1 (25:19):
And it's windy, and I get it, but you can't
miss from thirty two yards. Can't do it like he
didn't have any on it, like it hooks immediately. So
and you saw even you know, on the Buffalo field
goal as well, that was a I'm driving this through
whatever the wind is.

Speaker 4 (25:34):
It's not cutting it down. It's just a line drive.
But so many opportunities, so many miss chances in this one,
and that's the one that stings. Right, They kept showing
the thousand yards stare from Aaron Rodgers on the bench.

Speaker 7 (25:48):
Mike, he was thinking about who he's gonna fire tonight.
Well that's just who's next.

Speaker 3 (25:53):
Oh oh, Greg's airline. Greg Zarlin gets again, Well he's
gonna get yeah, he gets Greg. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (25:58):
Well, I mean, but that one, I think even the
folks upstairs that already made that, they were already making calls.
Although right now in the NFL, you got a bunch
of guys that have been pretty much automatic. You got
five to ten teams. Hell, you're gonna be competing with
the Giants because they need enough kicker. After what you
watched again last night, they could have won that game
against Cincinnati. Instead you breathe life back into them. So yeah,

(26:22):
it's uh, they're gonna be competing for kicking services.

Speaker 1 (26:25):
I just keep thinking of one thing right now. Let's
one thing right now, the darkness retreat the Mets play
Game three against the Dodgers on Wednesday.

Speaker 3 (26:33):
No, that is actually I gotta go back to that.
I got my companion animal. I gotta go back to that.
I gotta go back to it.

Speaker 4 (26:38):
Well, everybody needs I mean, you're gonna start taking Benny
with you wherever you travel.

Speaker 3 (26:42):
It's just my dog. He's with me all times. Yeah, yeah,
because her freet's got Ben and I have Benny.

Speaker 5 (26:49):
No.

Speaker 4 (26:49):
I looked at it at the grocery store earlier today
and there's like, what's a service hand or whatever, decide
to bring your dog in? Dogs jumping on people in
the aisles, Like ma'am, if you're gonna bring the dog
like this can't this cannot stand. And finally they had
someone from staff stand outside with the dog so she

(27:09):
could finish her shopping and so that patron would be
left alone.

Speaker 3 (27:13):
So you got that.

Speaker 4 (27:14):
I did see this stat earlier, or this quote Twin
Spires sports book quote, A Bill's victory would result in
the worst week of NFL I've ever seen here. That's
your sports books based on the results of this week's games.
An absolute blood bath for the casinos. Not that anybody's crying.
The public finally got.

Speaker 1 (27:33):
Over exit out about a Fresco exit swalling down The
Jason Smithshow with Mike Carmon Live from the Tireck dot
Com studios. Now, let's find out what's trending in the
wide world of sports from Steve de Sager. Steve, we
did enough on the Mets, Jets, and the Bills. Just
tell me about the Mets, that's all. Just tell me
about the Mets, a little bit of the Yankees, but
mostly the Mets.

Speaker 8 (27:53):
We had Yankees, we had Jets, we had Mets, and
we'll talk about all of them. You talked about the penalties,
ap saying this, this is just the second primetime game
in the last thirteen years where each team had at
least eleven penalties at one point. Troy Aikman said tonight,
it's like a preseason game. Twenty three to twenty. Buffalo
beats the Jets in New Jersey. Final total was Buffalo

(28:15):
eleven penalties ninety four yards, Jets eleven penalties one hundred
ten yards. Aaron Rodgers two touchdowns and a late interception
when the receiver slipped fact The Jets last three drives
were the missfield goal off the upright, another miss off
and upright, and the interception. Josh Allen three total touchdowns
and Bill's running back James Cook was out tonight with

(28:36):
a toe injury. Ray Davis ninety seven yards rushing three
catches for fifty five yards as well. Lions defensive end
Aiden Hutchinson is out for the year. He had surgery
last night for a broken tibia and fibula. Washington defensive
tackle Jonathan Allen is out for the season with a
torn pectoral muscle. Charger coach Jim Harbaugh has no plans
to miss games, but will wear a heart monitor for

(28:58):
a couple weeks to taking medication. After the episode yesterday,
The Chargers are signing veteran defensive back Eli Apple, Cardinals
wide receiver Marvin Harrison, junior is in concussion protocol. Arizona
wide receiver z A. Jones is now active after a suspension.
The Ramsay wide receiver Cooper Cup could return to practice
this week after his ankle injury, but wide receiver Puka

(29:20):
Nakua is not expected.

Speaker 3 (29:21):
Back this week.

Speaker 8 (29:22):
He has the bad knee and forty nine Ers first
round wide receiver Ricky Piersol's three week practice windows started today.
He's been out since he was shot in late August.
So the opener of the American League Championship Series at
Yankee Stadium, New York, beats Cleveland five to two. Cleveland's
offense struck out fourteen times. The Yankee scored twice in
the third inning on bases loaded wild pitches. Solo homers

(29:45):
for Juan Soto and gen Carlos Sten the win to
Carlos rodin Game two at Yankee Stadium tomorrow night. It
will not be as windy then. The Mets are even
at a game apiece in the National League Championship Series
after winning seven to three at Dodger Stadium in LA Today,
the Mets led six to nothing in the second inning
after a grand slam by Mark Viento's Tommy Edmund of

(30:06):
the Dodgers had three hits, but the rest of his
team was two for twenty eight. In fact, the top
five in LA's batting order went zero for nineteen with
nine strikeouts games.

Speaker 1 (30:16):
And I watched every one of them from my scene
at Chevezervine.

Speaker 8 (30:20):
And Games three, four, and five will be in New
York on FS one Wednesday, Thursday, Friday Nights. Game three
pitcher Walker Bueller of LA against Luis Severino of New York.
Game four Yoshinobu Yamamoto of LA against we assume Jose
Quintana of New York. The Dodgers had pitched thirty three
straight scoreless innings until today. They had tied the major

(30:41):
league postseason record until Francisco Lindor let off today's game
with a home run. By the way, the NBA preseason
ends Friday Nights. Paul George of the seventy six Ers
left Tonight's game with a hyper extended knee as Philadelphia
defeated Atlanta.

Speaker 3 (30:56):
Back to You, Thank you.

Speaker 1 (30:57):
Steve, the Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mine Car.
But now you're gonna think I'm lying. You're gonna think
I'm lying. Okay, but today at the game before. The
guy told you, we got there two and a half
hours before the game started because my dad wanted to
leave early.

Speaker 3 (31:09):
So we get there and we're sitting in.

Speaker 1 (31:11):
The pavilion area and we're having and we're having lunch,
and you know, we're sharing our table with other people,
and a couple of Dodger fans come over, a husband
and wife. They're probably a little bit older than I was,
and they sat down. Really, you know, I had great today.
It was like a play today, Like we sat down
and met a whole bunch of different people. Yeah, sit
down here because we're sitting because we're here two and
a half hours.

Speaker 4 (31:29):
Early, so we're sitting here, so it's like kind of
being at an airport lounge.

Speaker 3 (31:33):
Yeah, kind of environment.

Speaker 1 (31:35):
So they come and sit down and uh and and
and we're talking about the game and everything, and another
Mets fan comes walking by and he goes, oh, look
at that you guys are how are you guys enemies?
And we go all, we don't really know each other.
You know, we're you know, none o they're DECI goes, oh,
that's cool, and he said and it's fun, you know,
like it was a fun atmosphere or the Mets and
Dodgers fans talking to each other, and and the Mets

(31:57):
fans as, wow, we got we got to score today,
and I said, yeah, we do. And the Dodger fan says, well,
I assume you're gonna score, but do it after the
third inning so we can break the record for most
consecutives in the in the playoff. He is scoresmen, as
you want, but do it, do it after third inning?
I said, are you kidding? I said, Lindor is gonna
lead off the game with a home run? Like and

(32:17):
I just said that he and I wanted to go
fight that guy inane.

Speaker 3 (32:22):
I told you, I am from the future. I know things.

Speaker 4 (32:25):
I wanted to fight both those guys going told you
that would have been a hell drop back.

Speaker 3 (32:29):
I told you he's leading off with a homer, leading
off the game with a home run. Yeah, I thought
you were gonna say.

Speaker 4 (32:33):
They walked by with a pool queue that they brought
in and they snapped it and have said, make it quick.

Speaker 3 (32:39):
Who wants to see me make this pen disappear? So
I said it. I don't tell you man. It was
I was like, I want to find those guys. Yeah,
I can only imagine.

Speaker 4 (32:47):
I really wish we would have been able to send
someone with you and just film you for three hours
plus the car ride home with Walt, Yeah, well we listened. Well,
car it started to become about the Yankee car.

Speaker 3 (32:58):
Ride home with my dad? Was he listen?

Speaker 1 (33:01):
But coming up next, I will tell you, without a doubt,
what the big story coming off of this Monday night
football game is going to be going forward. Yes, the
officials were terrible for both teams, but what's the big
story going forward. I'll give you a big Bowl prediction
that's coming up next. Right here, Jason and Mike, Fox

boom boom boom boo boom boom boom boom boom boo boom.

Speaker 1 (34:00):
Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Harmont Jets Live fromthtireg dot Com Studios, And
we just watched the Bills beat the Jets twenty three
to twenty. The Jets taking me down. I just think
about the Mets. They tied the Dodgers one one. Okay,

(34:20):
so the Jets lose this game and it's an awful loss.
Right penalties, two missfield goals, the Jets can't stop Josh
Allen from running. They finally put together a great game offensively,
new head coach, new beginning, knew everything, and they lose.

Speaker 3 (34:39):
I told you that.

Speaker 1 (34:40):
Look, I'm scared as to where this is gonna go
the rest of the way, because two and four a
bad start for the Jets. I told you things are
gonna go sideways fast. You don't know how Aaron Rodgers
is going to react. The season must feel like it's
three years long. At this point we got another we
had another ten games. It must seem like it's three
years long. But I'm going to tell you this. The

(35:03):
optic of this game, the final play. I told you
the Jets season. In one play, the Jets have the ball,
two minutes left. Aaron Rodgers throws the ball downfield. Looks
like it's going to be a forty yard completion of
Mike Williams. Mike Williams slips and falls and the Bills
get an interception. The optic of that play. And despite
the fact the Jets had a big night throwing the football,

(35:24):
they couldn't score, they had trouble in the red zone,
and they're not putting enough points on the board. With
all of this and the end of the season looking
at them in the mirror, what are we going to do?
If DeVante Adams isn't a Jet by Wednesday, I will
be surprised. Because you fired your head coach, you brought

(35:46):
in your new head coach, you brought in a new strategy,
new philosophy, calling plays offensively, and still you can't get
in the end zone, and still you struggle, and still
you miss field goals, and still you lose the bills
at home and still you're two and four after the
easy part of your schedule. I don't know if it's
gonna save the season, because, like I said, I'm scared.
I'm just like ghost to Christmas future, like I don't
know what's gonna happen the rest of the way, Like

(36:07):
I'm waiting for, like you know, the Leon Hess to
come wake me up and say, Jason, here's what I'm
showing leon Hess. Oh my goodness, Yes, here's how bad
things can get for the Jets. But they will try
to save the season. And I mean, thinking about the Jets.
It possible, Uh no, Leon has visiting me in my
dreaming the season. No, No, it's more possible that Leon

(36:27):
has visits me in a dream and tells me he
was the former owner of the Jets who passed away
twenty some odd years ago, and Woody Johnson bought the tag.

Speaker 3 (36:37):
There you go. But they will try to save it,
and that's the only way they can. How do we
save it?

Speaker 1 (36:44):
How do we get more dynamic? Let's go out another playmaker,
And I know the Raiders have been holding fast to
the offer, playing hardball with We don't want to we
want to get a second round pick and more. We
don't want to pay a lot of his salary. Well,
eventually they're gonna have to do something. And this is
where DeVonta Adams is gonna say, you trade me right now.
There's gonna be something. But the Jets are desperate, and

(37:06):
I always told you from the beginning they're the ones
winding up with DeVonta Adams. Everybody's jobs are at stake
right now. Even Joe Douglas the GM, his job is
at stake. They're built to win this year. Figure out
the rest of Devonte adams money in the offseason. You
have money under the salary cap.

Speaker 3 (37:21):
You can fit him in. You can restructure a couple
if you need to. You can do that.

Speaker 1 (37:25):
Figure it out after Aaron Rodgers is forty years old.
He played pretty good tonight.

Speaker 7 (37:29):
Right.

Speaker 1 (37:30):
Maybe he's not the exact same guy he was a
couple of years ago, but he seems pretty close enough.
Maybe was a change in the scheme, maybe it was
a change in how they started to do things. But
he did look much better throwing the football tonight. I
said last week, maybe it's just a case of he
needs arm strength, he needs a build up, because remember
he hasn't played a lot of football, missing the whole
season last year, but they will try to save the season.

(37:51):
And if Davante Adams isn't in and a jet by Wednesday,
I'll be surprised.

Speaker 3 (37:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (37:55):
I think it's the curiosity of what's real, what's imagined
and being leaked to the.

Speaker 3 (38:01):
Media related to what the Raiders are doing.

Speaker 4 (38:04):
Right. We brought it up with Jason lockefora you know,
talking about the Lions situation with Aiden Hutchinson going down
gruesome injury. The fact that they didn't even show the
replay tells you all you need to know. You had
to go seek it out on your social media and
eventually in the blogsphere. But you know, Max Crosby also
could be Hey, high bidders across the league, not just

(38:29):
the Lions, but others looking for pass rush help. There's
been some speculation that Adams and we talked about it
in the preseason that he liked and kind of endorsed
the idea of Aidan O'Connell being the guy. I don't
know how much of that is just ay, it looked
like he was going to be the guy. So I've
got to throw my hat in there. To say, hey,

(38:49):
get me the ball kid versus the reality there. Mark
Davis also flirting with Shador Sanders. Every chance against is
being put out there as well. You want to talk
about a difficult loss, right and losing your two top receivers.
But we'll stay on this game here as as we
look at it that in desperation, it doesn't matter if

(39:10):
you appear desperate. If you need to go make the move,
you go over the top of whatever the Raiders want.
If they're holding fast to second round and other considerations,
you go and meet it and then some before this
potentially spirals away.

Speaker 7 (39:26):
Jason, real question for you. Yeah, who reports to the
Jets first? DeVante Adams or Hassan Reddick.

Speaker 3 (39:33):
Well that's the other part, right. I guess he's hired
Rose in the house now yeah, maybe maybe not. He
has an agent again. Yeah, no, that's great.

Speaker 1 (39:41):
By the time a Son Reddick is in shape and
ready to play football, it's going to be in the
middle of December.

Speaker 3 (39:45):
The season is going to be over. That's great.

Speaker 1 (39:46):
Thanks for coming to Son, REDI appreciate it. Appreciate it.
That appreciate it. Now, ye, who's going to have a
better December Hassan Reddick son.

Speaker 4 (39:57):
Reddick is going to be able to celebrate and on
his ass while he's missing out on his NFL his salary.

Speaker 3 (40:04):
Yeah, JJ Reddick. By then it won't be a honeymoon anymore.

Speaker 1 (40:09):
