Speaker 1 (00:54):
Dodgers lead the Diamondbacks right now to nothing. Bottom of
the third innings ago show, Haotani fouled a ball off
his right foot. He was an obvious pain. He tried
to run up and down the line with a little
bit of difficulty, and then eventually after is that bat
(01:15):
left the field has gone into the clubhouse to be
looked at. And now remember he's designated it or so
I'm not gonna see him in the field, worry. But
he has gone back into the clubhouse to be looked at,
fouling the ball off his right foot. He was limping
up and down the line, wincing. He was an obvious pain.
And right now, it's hey, come on, Otani, you're okay, right,
Let's let's put all that karma out there for you,
(01:37):
all that camera out there for shoe Otani, who is
now being looked at in the Dodgers' clubhouse. Right now
again bottom of the third inning, Dodger with the lead.
But all thoughts about shoe Heotani right now, Steve, have
you uh do you have like some sort of fit
whoa he?
Speaker 4 (01:55):
Well, he had a good run, just a little we're
I mean, that's a good investment, you know, Well they
always pay off.
Speaker 5 (02:02):
Well, listen, you're only paying them two million this year, so.
Speaker 4 (02:04):
It's what's that good thing? Maybe can trade him for Trout? Now,
you know somebody else doesn't do anything it.
Speaker 5 (02:09):
Get you do you know? Do you know who Mike
Trout even plays for? Yeah?
Speaker 6 (02:12):
Angels.
Speaker 5 (02:12):
Wow, that's really good, doesn't.
Speaker 4 (02:14):
Want anything big yet. Wow, when did you learn from
hot take? Yeah, he's the worst baseball player I've ever seen.
Oh guy, see you you were so good that that's
hot take?
Speaker 5 (02:23):
It is. It is a hot take.
Speaker 7 (02:24):
Give me something he's won that matters is a freezing
cold tape.
Speaker 5 (02:28):
He is, he is.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
He has won a lot of money, and he's won
a lot of m vps. So what he's winning for
what he want? He's what he's won. Three of them
win something? And didn't you say Otani fouled it off
his toe? We get that horn playing?
Speaker 5 (02:39):
Yeah, yeah, Tischer's right, Tiger.
Speaker 6 (02:43):
Whoa, We're definitely gonna fight now.
Speaker 7 (02:46):
It is Japanese Heritage Tonight at Dodger Stadium.
Speaker 6 (02:49):
Not anymore Japanese rememberance now, whoa.
Speaker 1 (02:53):
This is the one year anniversary of the day when
we all realized, oh yeah, Otani's gonna be a Dodger
next year. R because it was but his heritage night
when he was playing and Mookie Bets are shaking his
hand at second base, and you know, the Dodgers made
sure to have Japanese Heritage Night when they were playing
the Angels.
Speaker 5 (03:07):
And they were all saying hi, to him walking up.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
You're just watching that going he's gonna be a Dodger
like like, it's just like, hey, mag when we see
you here next year, it'll be okay, just come on,
everything is all good.
Speaker 7 (03:17):
Are you implying that that was not a coincidence?
Speaker 1 (03:22):
You guys realize what we weren't here on the show?
Tyshirt actually knew a little bit of something about sports.
Speaker 3 (03:28):
Do you ever need a phone a friend when it
comes to Anaheim sports?
Speaker 7 (03:32):
Yeah, sand bagging us this whole time.
Speaker 3 (03:36):
Yeahs, don't get me start on the Mighty Ducks.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
No no, no, no, no, no, hey, just just real quick, Ducks,
just real quick?
Speaker 6 (03:42):
What called Timo Solani? Right now? Just wow?
Speaker 5 (03:46):
How did you know?
Speaker 6 (03:47):
Is my favorite?
Speaker 5 (03:48):
Though? Now tysher out.
Speaker 4 (03:50):
Frostburg's just telling you know what sources. I looked at
him and said, Paul career right? He said, yes, well.
Speaker 5 (03:58):
True or false?
Speaker 6 (03:59):
Okay?
Speaker 5 (03:59):
Paul Korea is from Korea? Falls wow, very good. Okay.
Speaker 1 (04:04):
And the name of the baseball team that plays in
Anaheim is what Angels. Wow, that's really really good, Tyshirt.
It's like, I'm proudy.
Speaker 7 (04:12):
What is the full name of the team that plays
in Anaheim?
Speaker 5 (04:16):
Tyhert full name. He's not talking to me, he's talking
to you.
Speaker 3 (04:20):
The greatest Duck of all time? Goldberg, Yeah, Goldberg was
really good. Goldberg was good.
Speaker 1 (04:27):
Past Nan was really good too. That they got Banks
and he was scoring a lot of goals with just wow,
see Frostburt's.
Speaker 5 (04:36):
Going to fight everyone.
Speaker 4 (04:36):
Now, do you know what's the difference between the Mighty
Ducks and also Mike Trout? Okay, what they actually won something?
They won a Stanley Cup?
Speaker 1 (04:47):
Okay, well, the Angels did win the World Series without
him though, right exact, Wow, ty Shirt. It's like you're
going to work at night, studying. It's like you're Jennifer
Beal's and flash dance like you're a welder during the
day and you go to this big ballet school.
Speaker 6 (05:00):
Well, look at what you're doing. He's he's what year
did the Ducks win the Stanley Cup? Times, give me
something tough? Two thousand and seven?
Speaker 5 (05:12):
What kind of wait?
Speaker 1 (05:14):
Wait, wait, what kind of do you have some sort
of Anaheim web page up right now.
Speaker 6 (05:18):
That you're getting in front of you, Like, how do
you how do you know all that?
Speaker 8 (05:23):
The one.
Speaker 3 (05:25):
When did the Angels win the World Series? Before Trout
two thousand and two.
Speaker 7 (05:29):
Wow, wow, where is this coming from?
Speaker 5 (05:35):
Like the movie Where Are You? And What have You done?
Speaker 1 (05:37):
With Alex Ticher, where you have the person who's the
waiter or waitress and they're they're going through a tough
time and they're and they had they're a single mom
or a single dad and they have a kid at night,
but they need to study for the bar exam. And
that's what Tight Shirt is doing, except without the kid
and and and an anime podcast. He's actually staying up
late at night learning sports. Thank you, I have been
Why did you start with Anaheim?
Speaker 5 (05:58):
Like you geta yeah, I don't know that that's I
know that maybe alphabetically, but he didn't need to start
with Anaheim.
Speaker 6 (06:04):
It's close and I like.
Speaker 3 (06:05):
The angels, you know all Are you ready for one more?
This will tell us go ahead everything we need to know, right,
I'm ready.
Speaker 6 (06:13):
When is Mike Trout's birthday? Alex Ticher? Uh?
Speaker 4 (06:18):
I think he was my month. I'm twenty fifth, August seventh,
nineteen ninety one.
Speaker 6 (06:22):
You stop it right now? What he's a year after me?
I remember that? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (06:27):
It is tell you wow, definitely he is definitely, You're right,
he is your phone a friend, I'll take me any
Anahom sports, I'll take Anaheim sports. Really, how many questions
that there's only a couple we got. We got a
couple about Otani, we got a couple about Mike Trout
and really that's it. The rams from nineteen eighty three
and and that's about it. Wow, tight shirm. I'm proud
of you, man, I'm proud of you.
Speaker 4 (06:47):
Who is don't get me starting Garrett Anderson's swing Okay,
better than Griffy.
Speaker 1 (06:52):
Yes, but no, that's good, dude. That's good, dude, that's good.
So where do you have to Anaheim? You go to Baltimore? Like,
is that cause from ann a B Baltimore b A
l Okay? And then you know it's my favorite after
that Boston? No, yeah, I thought you would start with Cleveland. No, No,
(07:13):
he started with Anaheim, bil favorite.
Speaker 5 (07:15):
Ye, that's true, because I guess studying for the the
the the the Anaheim chapter of your quiz is not
not a lot. There's not a lot of pages to
have to study on that.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
Like if you had the Los Angeles quiz, it's a
it's it's a lot, but the Anaheim is like it's
a leaflet. I just look at a couple of sides
of the paper.
Speaker 5 (07:32):
Run.
Speaker 7 (07:33):
He also knows that Anaheim is not Los Angeles.
Speaker 1 (07:36):
Oh no, no, yeah, geographically he knows that he does
know that exactly. You know your funny story about LA
about trivia. So you know, my wife always does trivia
once a week. She goes out with her friends. Oh yeah,
and sometimes I get to go with her five the
night off or whatever it is. But last week was
LA Sports Trivia night, and they all tried to get
(07:57):
me to go, of course, and I'm like, I I can't.
It's a it's a big I can't get the night off.
I mean it's it's it's certain times that I can't.
Speaker 5 (08:04):
They're like, oh, we really need you. And I said, okay,
but you know, like like all the questions you would
get right, And I said, well, like like what's a
like what's a sample question? Like what's a sample question
that he asked as well?
Speaker 1 (08:13):
She and and Pam's friend said, oh, here's a couple
that they asked from the last one and I said, okay, cool,
and it was, uh, who holds the record for most
career strikeouts by a high school pitcher? And I go
I don't know that's in the city of Los Angeles.
Speaker 5 (08:28):
I don't know who the.
Speaker 9 (08:28):
Hell that is.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
Come on, yeah, Chuck Finley, you don't know that stuff.
You just did said because he was an angel. Stop
you're a law You just said that because he was
an angel.
Speaker 6 (08:36):
I didn't say anything.
Speaker 5 (08:36):
But those are the questions. I mean, I gotta look
up Chuck Finly.
Speaker 6 (08:39):
Okay, Scott, I do.
Speaker 7 (08:40):
Know who has the most strikeouts in a game in
southern California high school history?
Speaker 5 (08:44):
Okay, who is that.
Speaker 7 (08:45):
Hall of Famer Walter Johnson Fullerton High School.
Speaker 1 (08:48):
There was high school when Walter Johnson and they didn't
just go like right from elementary school graduation into Major
League baseball.
Speaker 6 (08:55):
I'm like nineteen ten.
Speaker 7 (08:56):
There were fewer streets back then.
Speaker 5 (08:58):
But yeah, it's one schoolhouse.
Speaker 1 (08:59):
It's like in the first row is kindergarten, second row
was first grade, third row.
Speaker 7 (09:03):
Is there was Anaheim, and I'm not sure how much
else there was. Like the original six in hockey, you
just played each other for six months.
Speaker 3 (09:11):
I don't think so, guys, Okay, go ahead, Angels player
went upstream more than any other.
Speaker 6 (09:19):
Oh, Tim Salmon, it couldn't be trout.
Speaker 5 (09:22):
It could be no, but I.
Speaker 4 (09:23):
Doesn't want anything Salmon swim upstream, So I mean there
is to win something.
Speaker 5 (09:27):
Oh no, that's true. No, you're right. Okay.
Speaker 1 (09:30):
I was trying to think of one big, good Anaheim
question for him, but oh, here you go, here you go. Okay,
what what?
Speaker 9 (09:38):
What?
Speaker 1 (09:38):
Television host who I've known for a few years now
hosts the Angels Morning show on the.
Speaker 6 (09:45):
Angels radio station, Roger Lodge.
Speaker 4 (09:47):
Wow, I want something tough, please, Roger, who is a.
Speaker 7 (09:53):
Fan of the Jason Smith Show. He told me this
in person last week.
Speaker 5 (09:59):
You hung out with it and just telling us that.
Speaker 3 (10:00):
Now, I meant a blond date Steve I mentioned on
the show last week actually was a date.
Speaker 5 (10:06):
No, but he didn't say who it was.
Speaker 6 (10:07):
That's correct.
Speaker 7 (10:08):
I rarely go to Angel games. I happened to see
him in Anaheim last week.
Speaker 5 (10:12):
It would be okay if you if you say that
you saw him at an Angels gave me supposed I
didn't know you know him. Why wouldn't you say his
name in general?
Speaker 3 (10:19):
Oh?
Speaker 7 (10:19):
I didn't know they know him.
Speaker 6 (10:21):
He was on blind Dates.
Speaker 5 (10:22):
He knows he's been a big TV.
Speaker 7 (10:23):
Star, and that would bring up shows from that era.
To our co workers here and then people say I
was three years old when that was on that kind
of thing.
Speaker 5 (10:31):
Yeah, but but the way you said it was almost like, hey,
he doesn't want to admit that he was seeing it.
Speaker 7 (10:35):
Well, he didn't say it so that I would say it. Oh,
I'm just proud to pass it along to you.
Speaker 5 (10:39):
Okay. No, he's a good dude. He's a good dude.
Speaker 6 (10:41):
Right, but did he only like Jason or did he
like us all?
Speaker 5 (10:46):
He'd like the show?
Speaker 1 (10:48):
The show you're going to tune in on Monday and
it's gonna be Hey, Roger Lodg's show, Angels in the
Morning with Alex Tyshert, my brand new co host.
Speaker 5 (10:55):
He is a machine.
Speaker 1 (10:57):
We're gonna do Tyshert Trivia at seven five. We're gonna
do Stump Tight Shirt with Angels favorite Angels Hall of
Famer Nolan Ryan. I'll be a sitting backstage.
Speaker 5 (11:07):
Now you're just looking now, you're just looking up.
Speaker 6 (11:09):
No, I know I love it.
Speaker 1 (11:09):
Okay, what Angels player was No, don't look at Frostburg. Sorry,
was asking me something. What Angels player almost killed the
queen and naked gun.
Speaker 5 (11:19):
Oh that's a good one.
Speaker 1 (11:20):
Must kill the queen Reggie Jackson. Wow, that you did
not get that from anybody.
Speaker 5 (11:25):
That's pretty good.
Speaker 6 (11:26):
Up but the Sky. Oh it was good.
Speaker 5 (11:27):
You didn't get that from I'm looking to see if
if Frostburg is like helping you with this and he's got.
Speaker 7 (11:32):
Wow true or fall Stump that was filmed at Anaheim Stadium. Oh, true, fall,
they filmed it at Dodger State.
Speaker 3 (11:41):
Trust me, Steve, it's true Dodger.
Speaker 5 (11:44):
You're gonna doubt Tyser knows everything about Anaheim.
Speaker 6 (11:48):
Actually, I'm gonna tell Steve he doesn't know that update.
Come on, goodness, Steve knows.
Speaker 1 (11:52):
I mean, this is I Look, I know I had
a great, big NBA hot take coming up, but this
is better than that. It's like Tyshert knowing sports. It's like,
finally ten years on the show.
Speaker 7 (12:01):
This is breaking new.
Speaker 5 (12:02):
This is this is a huge deal. Now, man, look
at you?
Speaker 10 (12:05):
Are you?
Speaker 1 (12:05):
I mean really, I'm looking forward to Stump tight. I'm
gonna call with trivia question.
Speaker 6 (12:09):
Okay, just give me another one, alright ready, yeah.
Speaker 5 (12:11):
Go ahead.
Speaker 3 (12:13):

Speaker 2 (12:47):
No.
Speaker 5 (12:47):
But they don't say that though that's not how you
say it. They don't say handyes, not in Basically.
Speaker 6 (12:52):

like inches though?
Speaker 5 (13:43):
That's good? Yeah, no it is. But forty eight inch bad?

Speaker 6 (14:00):
Grill tyshirt and Morosi on these questions together.

Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon
Special Delivery Steve the Sanger in from Mike Harmon tonight,
Big baseball going on right now as we're waiting to
find out just how show Hey Otani is. He fouled
the ball off his foot, was an obvious pain. Stops
taking inside. Not have an official word on Otani yet,
(15:58):
remember designated hitter not coming out for the field, waiting
to see just where it is. Everyone holding their breath,
including our next guest, who is taking batting practice right
now at Wrigley Field, just in case the Dodgers call
him up. He is MLB Network insider extraordinaire, Fox Sports
Radio insider extraordinaire, and a man who is my pipeline
(16:20):
to the Mets, David Stearns. It is the Pope, John
Palmer ROSSI Pope.
Speaker 8 (16:24):
What's happening, Bud, Jason and Steve Good evening. Indeed from
Wrigley Field, where I can report that we have a
great group of people right now playing catch in the outfield.
So while there's no batting practice happening here, there is
most certainly playing of catch. And I would say that
that those who are playing catch, I'm sure have spent
(16:46):
a small fortune for the ability to do so.
Speaker 1 (16:49):
Okay, so these are these This is not like a hey,
there's superstar is having a catch like Sosa is having
a catch with Ryan Sandberg, Like that's not happening.
Speaker 8 (16:58):
No, No, it's fan who are very much enjoying their
their time. And I am so I'm sitting here in
the bleachers watching them enjoy what they're doing, and and
yeah they're they're not They're not playing catch with Ryan Sandford, that.
Speaker 6 (17:09):
Is for it.
Speaker 5 (17:11):
At this point, better is having a catch in the field.
Speaker 8 (17:15):
He's got a statue now in the field to be good. Fine,
Stadberg has a statue. And I do think that once,
once you've got your statue on the field, you could
probably play catch here anytime you want, including New Year's Day.
Speaker 1 (17:27):
All right, did you get heckled at all by anybody
while you're there?
Speaker 5 (17:30):
Like anybody? Yella, hey Morosi, But not happened to you
or now?
Speaker 6 (17:33):
No.
Speaker 8 (17:34):
I was able to sort of just enjoy enjoy the
experience preparing for tomorrow's games. So basically what I try
to do, you get to the ballpark the day before
when we have our showcase games. They'll be here tomorrow
night with a great Bob Costas. So I get to
work with Bob Costas Yonder Alonso tomorrow for the MLB
Network showcase. And so I like to come here and
(17:55):
get some notes in advance and make sure I've got
some good things to be able to chat about. And
I'll I'll tell you this. The Philadelphia Phillies right now,
No Harper, no Forber, no real muteo, no problem. They
win the game to night six. Four key contributions from
Bryson Stott, Trey Turnerholmers twice. Tell you what, man, I
(18:16):
love the great city of Philadelphia, especially playoff baseball. I
think I'll be spending a lot of time in Philly
this October. That they might be to be honest and
even more complete team right now than the Dodgers.
Speaker 5 (18:30):
Whoo.
Speaker 1 (18:31):
So that, well, you definitely want to fight now they
have the best record. Wow, Well I behave that Phillies
Mets NLCS is going to be a big deal.
Speaker 5 (18:39):
Now.
Speaker 8 (18:42):
I came with receipts today and I'm going to tell
you this. I look this up. Now you can talk
about Grimace, you can talk about Jose Iglesias, and OMG,
you can talk about anybody else do you want any
reason you want? The reality is, since the beginning of
the New York must have the best record of the
(19:02):
National League period. That is an indisputable fact. And so
I think, as you may hear on a future episode
of Sternsey and the Pope, the direction for the Mets
at the trade deadline. It's been assured you now have
to you gotta be a buyer, because when you're the
(19:23):
best team in the league over this month long span,
you can't trade pe Alonzo. And think about this, They've
done a lot of this work with Edwin Diaz on
the suspended list, so you have to think that this
as likely to continue as the Mets get to be
a bit more full strength here in the days ahead.
Speaker 7 (19:43):
Meanwhile, in the Al East, we've got maybe the Orioles
alone in first by a game after tonight, ahead of
the Yankees. A note about each first off. I saw
that not only with the Aaron Judge home run tonight,
he has thirty two. Only three other Yankees have ever
hit thirty two homers through the first eighty seven games
of a Yankee season, and that was Ruth, Marris and Mantle.
(20:04):
So it's a two prong question is judge enough to
get the Yankees the Al East crowned and this Baltimore
club seems like the real deal. Do they have enough pitching?
They went out meekly last year, they'll be back in
the playoffs. Do they have enough to win the division?
Speaker 8 (20:20):
Well, Steve, here's how I'll answer that they don't have
enough now to be able to, let's say, win the
World Series. But I believe that the group they have
now will not be the group they have on July
thirty first, once the trade deadline is over. They will,
because of the strength of their farm system, make a
(20:40):
move or two. And I'll make this point though about
the Orioles. We praised them, and rightfully so, when they
made the deal for Corbyn Burns during the offseason. A
part of the package they gave up Joey Ortiz. Right
now with the Brewers, he actually has the best OPS
plus of any key offensive player in Major League Baseball.
(21:03):
So they gave up some talent to get Burns. I
think they have more talent to give up. And we
could argue would they consider giving up someone like a
Cowser or a Westburg. I would say very unlikely. Would
they give up a Hesson keears Dad, maybe that's a
little more likely. I would still be surprised that they
gave up a Jackson holiday, but it does seem like
(21:26):
we're seeing a select group of young hitters be able
to get to the big leagues and thrive offensively. It's
a very offensively challenged time right now, and you do
wonder how that influence is the way that the Orioles
approach the trade deadline. Meanwhile, with the Yankees, their needs,
I think are of additional offense, and they probably need
(21:48):
some pitching too, because of the way the rotation has
struggled the last couple of weeks. But they cannot. They cannot,
in my view, get deep into the playoffs with a
lineup that Hinge is entirely on Soto and Judge, because
they'll be pitched around and teams will basically begin the
series by saying, we're not gonna let these two guys
(22:09):
beat us. So while I think Judge, and it's amazing
to say these words, has a legitimate chance to again
hit sixty home runs. Wow, I can't believe I just
said that, But it's look at the numbers. It's true.
You look at what Judge can do and is doing.
I think that actually Baltimore, by the time they get there,
(22:30):
will be the better team in the postseason because they
are set up to do more at the deadline than
the Yankees will.
Speaker 1 (22:38):
All right, all right, Pope, So let me ask you
this now different Yankee Orioles question. Who's your AL MVP
right now? Is it Aaron Judge or is it my
pick from the preseason Gunner Henderson answer, answer you want,
is it Judge at Gunner Henderson.
Speaker 8 (22:52):
Right now? I think you have to give it a Judge.
Just the sheer overall offensive talent I think advantages Aaron Judge.
And let's remember defensively, he's playing center field. He's one
of the tallest everyday center fielders in the history of
the game, and what he's able to do out there
is incredibly valuable because his presence there. Now I realize stance,
(23:17):
he's been injured here for the last little bit, but
it's allowed the Yankee lineup to be better, It's allowed
them to get extra bats in there, it's allows them
to play really good defense. Gunnar Henderson is also a
great answer. I mean, no, there's no confusing that. And
by the way, I think Gunnar Henderson versus Bobby Witt
(23:37):
Junior is one of the great All Star debates right
now is who's going to start at shortstop? But I
would give the edge to judge right now by the
narrowest of margins, while reserving the rights to change my
mind a dozen times between now and the end of
the regular season.
Speaker 7 (23:52):
We're used to the Houston Astros being good year after year.
They didn't make it over the five hundred mark till
this week.
Speaker 8 (23:59):
Now.
Speaker 7 (23:59):
Granted, in contention below Seattle in the AL West? Is
Houston that good? Are there anyone? Are they anyone to
talk about heading into postseason?
Speaker 8 (24:08):
Well, there's certainly a team to talk about the deadline,
Steve And there were some whispers maybe a month ago
would the Astros consider selling? Is this the end of
this dynasty? However you want to describe it, which I would.
It's certainly a flawed dynasty in some ways, but it
is a dynasty. Nonetheless, They've got the best record in
the American League since the beginning of June. So they've
(24:30):
been as good in the AL as the Mets have
been in the NL. And when I look at the
way the Astros are put together They've had a couple
the younger pitchers come up and really emerge and give
them some quality in their rotation, while offensively Bregman and
Tucker Robinson getting closer to being back to himself. They've
(24:53):
done a really good job of what I thought was
almost impossible to do, which is with a first year manager,
to resurrect themselves in the middle of the season. I
just think that's really impressive of what they've done, and
I look for them to now be buyers of the deadline.
The one thing you know about Jim Crane, Dana Brown,
we saw it last year at the deadline they brought
(25:14):
in Verlander. Vertlander, I'm not so sure what he's going
to be able to give them in the second half
of this year. So I would actually expect them to
almost do the same thing this year that they did
last year, which is flex their financial might and bring
in someone maybe not of Verlander's historical quality, but I
think they will make a very meaningful upgrade at the
deadline this year.
Speaker 5 (25:34):
All right, John Paul, So now fill in the blank
for me here.
Speaker 1 (25:37):
Now, obviously the Mets are going to keep everybody, because hey,
when you're the best team and you have Grimace. Everything
is fantastic. But if I said to you the couple
of big names that you say to watch out for
on the block as we get closer to the deadline,
what couple of names are you giving me that are
going to make people go wow?
Speaker 5 (25:55):
These guys could be on the move.
Speaker 3 (25:56):
Remuso staying Grimas is Steve Cohen's gonna buy Grimace McDonald's
so we can keep Grimas Frostburg.
Speaker 8 (26:04):
Enough of that, Grimoth Grimoth justin he is the definition
of untouchable.
Speaker 10 (26:10):
At the time.
Speaker 8 (26:12):
No chance, no chances he getting moved. So here's what
I'll say to you. I look at the different potential
superstar or star names out there. I find it interesting
the Tigers have not ruled out the possibility of trading
Trek Scoopel. I don't think it's going to happen, but
(26:32):
we have not heard them rule it out, So bookmark
that possibility. One team that has struggled of late that
I think actually now as a very marketable player to
move would be the Cincinnati Reds Jonathan India, So I
think India could be moved the Cubs. They certainly look
like sellers to me, But I would say that they are,
(26:54):
they do not quite have the same quality of players
to move. So I would say that the the Superstar
Ace if they're considering, truly considering, and again they haven't
ruled it out, is Trek Skueble, and my favorite All
Star caliber player who I think the industry has kind
of lost track of a little bit in the first
half of the season. We talked about him a bunch
(27:16):
in the offseason as a trade candidate, and now he's
healthy and playing well. It is Jonathan India of the
Cincinnati Red So keep an eye on Jonathan India. He's
maybe not the biggest name, but he's the one that
I've been thinking about a lot because I really believe
that he represents the quality middle of the diamond upgrade.
And I would also have to mention this the Toronto
(27:37):
Blue Jays. They won today, but there's still not anywhere
close to being a legitimate contender in the American League
in my estimation. So as long as that's the case,
let's keep an eye out for a possible Bobashett. I
don't think Vladdie's going anywhere, but I could see a
scenario in which Bobashet gets moved, So stay tuned to
(27:57):
that possibility.
Speaker 1 (27:58):
Woo the big names from John Morosi. Check him out
on Twitter at John Morosi. That is at John Morosi,
MLB Network insider who gives you all kinds of great
stuff when he appears with us, and he is also.
Speaker 5 (28:11):
A man of his word.
Speaker 1 (28:12):
Because I want to mind, I want to throw this
out to you again because I think you need to
do this, because you owe us.
Speaker 5 (28:16):
Last week you were doing that.
Speaker 1 (28:18):
I said you need to wear a purple tie for
grimace of the game the next day, and you are
a purple tie during the game and that was awesome.
I know you're doing the Cubs and the Phillies. Can
you wear a purple tie tomorrow?
Speaker 8 (28:32):
So this is a really good question, and it relates
to whatever I brought in my suitcase. And to be
honest with you, I can't tell you what I brought.
I don't I'm not visitally there. I'm at the ballpark. Okay, Well,
i will contemplate what I'll be able to do for you,
(28:52):
but I'm going to have to take a close look
at my wardrobe tomorrow morning before I can make that determination.
It's a very valid question. I will do my best,
but I as they say, I killing do the best
I've got with what I had to work with.
Speaker 1 (29:07):
John Paul is always buddy, appreciated my friend. We'll watch
for your tie tomorrow. Have a great time at the park, buddy,
we'll talk to you.
Speaker 8 (29:14):
I appreciate it, my friends, all the best. Enjoyed the
conversation as always, thanks so much.
Speaker 1 (29:18):
All right, there goes John Paul Morosi and a come
full circle show. Hey Otani took his latest at bat
with the Dodgers, muscle the single over the infield. He
is running the bases, so it looks like Otani is okay.
After found the ball off his foot going into the
clubhouse to be examined, he takes his normal lad bat
base hit. He's on first base. Dodgers Diamondbacks tied to
(29:41):
two to two in the bottom of the fifth. For
more scores like this, I mean, there's no score like
the Mets winning in ten innings, but Steve de Seger
has them all with what's trending.
Speaker 7 (29:50):
So the Dhotani is two for three tonight and batting
three nineteen. The starter is out of the game for
La Bobby Miller went five innings. They've got the bullpen
warming right now. At Colorado, the Rockies lead the Brewers
in the ninth three to two rain delay in a
long one in Kansas City. They're hoping to restart the
game at about the top of the hour. Top of
the sixth. Rays leading one nothing at KC. At Oakland,
(30:13):
the A's are leading the Angels seven to one. In
the seventh. It is the Orioles ahead at Seattle two
nothing in the bottom of the seventh. Speaking of the Orioles,
you mentioned Gunner Henderson, he had said that he will
be in this month's home run Derby was the first
guy to say that out loud to formally commit. All
Star balloting ends Wednesday tomorrow, by the way. As for
(30:34):
the final scores in Major League Baseball, Trek Scooble was
the Detroit starter tonight nine and three, record a no decision.
He went six innings and eventually Minnesota won the game
five to three. Texas beat San Diego seven nothing. Nathan Valdi,
the winning pitcher, was seven scoreless innings and just one
hit aloud. In Philadelphia's win at the Cubs six to four.
It was a six to one lead in the ninth.
(30:55):
Trey Turner two homers four RBIs. He's betting three thirty eight.
San Francisco won it Atlanta five to three. Toronto over
Houston seven to six. It was a seven to nothing
lead after four innings. Vlad Guerrero Junior of Toronto did
play scored a couple of times. He did not play
yesterday due to a sore hand he'd been hit by
a pitch. On Sunday, Cincinnati defeated the Yankees in New
(31:16):
York five to four, even though Aaron Judge hit his
thirty second home run. He has eighty three RBIs. The
Metsy in ten innings won seven to two at Washington.
Victories for Saint Louis, Boston and Cleveland won again seven
to six over the White Sox. White Sox record now
twenty four and sixty three. Donovan Mitchell got a three
year extension from the Cleveland Cavaliers worth one hundred and
(31:37):
fifty million dollars, including a player option. At Copa America
in the Bay Area, Brazil tied its group finale one
one against undefeated Columbia, which takes the group and in
the other game finishing out the string, Costa Rica got
out shot seventeen to two and still won the game
two to one over Paraguay in Austin, Texas at the
Euros to end the round of sixteen wins for the
(31:59):
Netherlands and Turkey. Quarterfinals start on Fox TV on Friday. WNBA.
It's a final at Vegas. Huge crowd in the Las
Vegas Aces beat Indiana eighty eight sixty nine, Kelsey Plum
thirty four points, Asia Wilson with twenty eight Caitlin Clark
in the loss, eleven assists, six turnovers. Angel Reaes for
Chicago had nineteen rebounds in a win at Atlanta, New
(32:22):
York one against Minnesota New York's record seventeen and three.
And the late game in LA four minutes to go,
Sparks holding on seventy two to seventy one over Washington victeam.
Speaker 1 (32:32):
And how about Brianna Stewart, A couple other people showing
up wearing Jets jerseys to the game tonight.
Speaker 7 (32:36):
And then she went five of twenty froe.
Speaker 1 (32:38):
Yeah, she's she's never gonna wear a Breeze Hall jersey again.
She break her leg? Stop stop. The Jason Smith Show
is Steve Desager in for Mike Harmon. Speaking of football,
What did Tom Brady say was the biggest regret of
his career and is he telling the truth?
Speaker 5 (32:58):
That's next right here, step to Sager. This is Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (33:02):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.
Speaker 5 (33:09):
Alex Tischer has definitely been on an eighties kick with
music the last few nights. I have a lot of
Fleetwood Mac from the eighties. Yeah, he gets some billy idol.
Speaker 1 (33:19):
You know my mom when this song first came out,
she thought this song was called How's About a Date?
Speaker 5 (33:25):
Okay, Like she thought there was How's about a day?
That's not how it goes, Mom, It's eyes without a face. No,
it's How's about a date? He said? How about a date? No,
it's okay.
Speaker 6 (33:35):
Oh it's how about a fresco?
Speaker 5 (33:36):
How about?
Speaker 6 (33:38):
Very good?
Speaker 1 (33:38):
The Jason Smith Show is steeve to Saga and from
Mike Harmon. We have more big stuff in basketball coming
up in a few minutes. But Tom Brady did a
podcast and he talked about what his biggest.
Speaker 5 (33:52):
Regret is for his NFL career. And while you're you're
gonna hear Brady give his.
Speaker 1 (34:00):
Reasoning, and well, I think it's valid, and I understand
what he's saying. He's not saying what his real regret
is the one thing he would do over again if
he could. What's the one thing he would do over
again if he could. But here's his regret. He talked
about it and said, you know, I think I would
have smiled more.
Speaker 10 (34:19):
I'd be surprised that you actually won a game. But
what I would have changed was, Okay, this part of.
Speaker 9 (34:23):
Me I actually still love.
Speaker 10 (34:24):
Like when I see these young players, I see like Patrick,
you know, out there at quarterback running around, laughing, having fun.
I'm like, I used to be like that.
Speaker 5 (34:32):
What the hell happened to me?
Speaker 8 (34:34):
You know?
Speaker 10 (34:34):
And I just got too serious and you know, but again,
I can only look back and think, Okay, if I
if I do it again, which I'll never do it again,
I would be different. But at the reality is you can't.
So you just learn from it and go okay, now,
next phase of life. Enjoy it a little more.
Speaker 3 (34:48):
So.
Speaker 1 (34:48):
That's from the Pivot podcast. Ryan Clark on there a
couple other Fred Taylor is on that as well, and
he said if he had one.
Speaker 5 (34:54):
Regret, he would enjoy it more. He would smile more
because for most of his career he was very serious
yelling at his tears. He always knew when the camera
was on him and the team wasn't playing well, he
would always be sure to be seen yelling at his teammates.
Speaker 7 (35:07):
Not my fault, it's your fault. And he's not going
to do this again. Do you see him slip that
in there? He's not coming back.
Speaker 1 (35:12):
No, no, unless the Cowboys call me in December and
they're in first place and Dak is hurt.
Speaker 5 (35:17):
But I think he's lying. I think he's sort of opening.
Speaker 1 (35:21):
The door to what is real regret is if I
because if I said to him, what would you do
over again? What's your biggest regret? I guarantee you if
you had him hooked up to truth, see him or
shot him through a sodium pentofle, whatever it was, he
would say, I would have left the Patriots ten years
before I did. WHOA I would have left ten You
saw the fun he had with the Buccaneers, and he
(35:43):
won a Super Bowl right away and was still good
all right. And you look at the near two decades
he spent with New England. He was at odds with Belichick.
He chafed under Belichick. He didn't like the rules. That's
why he didn't have fun. Belichick'sid no fun coach, that's
what it's all about. And he didn't like playing under
that anymore.
Speaker 5 (36:00):
It's why him and Gronkowski started skipping off season activities.
He didn't like it.
Speaker 1 (36:04):
He would have smiled more if he was on a
different team. So I guarantee you if you said what
would you do again, he would say I would have
left the Patriots after my first ten years. Because he's
not going to give up the Super Bowls, right. He
love winning seven rings.
Speaker 7 (36:16):
Right, that's what makes even Super Bowl rady.
Speaker 5 (36:19):
But knowing that he left when he was forty years
old and he won the super Bowl right away, he's
going to be thinking if I left ten years before that,
when I was thirty or thirty one, thirty two, I
would have still won as many super because I saw
that I could go to another team and win the
Super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (36:36):
It didn't have to be in New England. I didn't
have to know the plays ahead of time. I could
go someplace else and I could win. So that being said,
that's why he would do it again. If he didn't
win the super Bowl, it would be a different thing.
It would be boy. I would have liked to have fun.
But I liked the seven Rings because that's kind of what.
Speaker 5 (36:51):
I'm all about.
Speaker 1 (36:52):
But the fact that he won right away, he's thinking,
I could have gone someplace else.
Speaker 5 (36:57):
I could have gone to the Steelers.
Speaker 1 (36:59):
I could have gone to the Cowboy I could have
gone someplace, and I could have won three or four
more Super Bowls just like I did. I'd have the
same career and I would have had a lot more funks.
I would have been playing for Belichick. I wouldn't have
been in that system. I would have left the Patriots
ten years ago.
Speaker 7 (37:13):
I don't think he would have won three more Super
Bowls with the Cowboys, but maybe in other cities, with
other franchises and other owners.
Speaker 5 (37:18):
I just wanted to because the Cowboys fans haven't had
the best last few days. I wanted to think, hey,
because I.
Speaker 7 (37:23):
Had your days days, I thought you were going to say.
The regret was going to be something along the lines.
I wish I would have skipped mandatory practice and just
like gone to Egypt or something, you know. I wish
on my own fund, wish I.
Speaker 1 (37:34):
Would have discovered ayahuasca like way before Rogers did man.
Speaker 9 (37:38):
Now.
Speaker 7 (37:39):
Granted, granted, there's probably not a lot of regrets to
be had in the long career of Tom Brady because
usually when it's that type of question and you're talking
on the field stuff, then it's like, you know that
one game that we let get away or that you know,
there's not a lot of that in the twenty plus
years no that we've known of Tom Brady. So let's
(37:59):
say that first that it's probably not a long list anyway.
But I could see him being truthful of this.
Speaker 5 (38:06):
I could see him.
Speaker 1 (38:07):
I think he definitely wants to which he was happier,
which plays into I would have left the Patriots sooner.
Speaker 5 (38:12):
I would have had ten years a date.
Speaker 7 (38:15):
But yeah, he would have.
Speaker 1 (38:16):
Been a bigger voice, you know, because look, he's got
a fun personality. You could tell he's one of those
guys that when he talks, you can you can hear,
you can you can envision the smile on his face
while he's doing it. And he wasn't that guy with
New England because that was the that was the world
he lived in, right, that was that was what it
was to play for the New England Patriots. But I
could have been fun I could have been. It would
have been okay. If I did TV twelve stuff, it
(38:38):
would have been okay with giving my opinions on things.
I would have been a bigger voice. And I wish
I had that time back. That's why I he kind
of scratched the surface a little bit with it. But
if you go deeper, it would have been I would
have split man out in the first ten years of
New England legend, next ten years someplace, Giants, someplace else,
whatever it was, and that's where I went on and
I would have won more Super Bowls.
Speaker 7 (38:58):
Now we are, as you mentioned his voice and hearing
the smile and the voice. We are entering theoretically the
beginning of a new career for him, and we're going
to be hearing his voice a lot on Fox, and
maybe not just for one season either. Are we going
to be here? Because Joe Montana was a great quarterback
as well, and then just completely bombed on television. He
(39:20):
had nothing, He wasn't a great personality, didn't contribute a
lot from the NBC studio. Are we going to get
what we deserve in that number one slot? Is somebody
who delivers like Greg Olsen? Can I mention the name
We're delivered.
Speaker 1 (39:36):
Brady's not taking thirty seven million a year to suck.
He's not thirty seven in a row. He's not doing
this if he thought I can't do it right, He's
not going to show up and so publicly fail that
he tries to figure something else out. He knows, Okay,
I'm gonna be really, really good, and that he's got
to find his own way, whether he's telling stories or
being critical, whatever it is.
Speaker 5 (39:56):
He's not gonna do this if he's got people to
check him.
Speaker 7 (39:59):
Because I get the question that Tony Romo doesn't know
he's failing good.
Speaker 5 (40:04):
Tony roman doesn't know what teams he's doing. The game
of half thetype Jim Jim, Jim, who's in green and white? Jim.
I thought Aaron Rodgers was still with the Packers Jim,
but this is a Jets Jim, Jim Jim. We're CBS Jim, Jim,
Jim Jim. Coming up next. We got a big story
out of basketball.
Speaker 6 (40:18):
Keep it in here, Fox,
