Speaker 2 (00:22):
Give this you're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Hello, Welcome in Side hour two tonight the Jason Smith
Show with my best friend Mike Harmon.

Speaker 3 (00:35):
My upset special.

Speaker 1 (00:37):
Well, here we sit four minutes ago in the fourth quarter.
Cowboys lead the Raiders thirty three to sixteen, thirty three
sixteen thanks to a safety a few moments ago. We'll
get into in a second. Yeah, big night for the
Cowboys offense. Dak Prescott two sixty eight and four touchdowns, pickins,
lamb Ferguson even Florida. I got in on it with

(00:59):
a score. So from Hazel Crest, Illinois. They have done
whatever they've wanted to to this Raider team that just
looks like they are done. They look like they have quit,
they look like finished, they're ready for the season to end.
I just saw something I'll never unseen. Remember we had
that sad Pete Carroll moment. Yeah, someone photoshop Joe Biden's
face over it. Oh say, they's kind of looking like

(01:21):
sad Pete Carroll man, Yeah it is. He he just
looks every time they show him on the sideline. He's
got that perplexed look that he only used to get
when one of his quarterbacks at USC would throw a
pick in the fourth quarter. But now we're getting it
all the time. Used that they saw. Yeah, or like
when Russell Wilson would do one of those drop backs

(01:42):
but lose thirty yards instead of the thirty yard drop back,
get back to the line of scrimmage and throwing complete
like one where he actually would lose a lot of yards. Like,
but that's like the that's like the the the the
normal Pete Carroll cutaway. Now like I got explained, Like
I feel like he's staring out and have to explain
to this is what's.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
Happening right now. It just want to let you know.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
But they just showed the graphic, which is really pretty
frightening because it wasn't just an indictment on the Raiders,
but the way head coaching is done in the NFL
that Pete Carroll's the fifth coach they've had. Obviously Gruden
left under a bunch of circumstances whatever, but he's the
fifth coach since twenty twenty and there's three other teams
that have had the same Oh yeah. So like we

(02:23):
just start talking about that chure and it's like, hey,
we're gonna build a punt now we're not the next
twice camp'scatum.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
It was like, fine, I don't have to ask this guy.
He ain't gonna be there. Coach is gone, Shane's gonna
be gone. I'll do what I want. The Raiders may.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
Lose their status as best last place team in the NFL,
like they may not be. You know, you tried to
prop them up as that they were. They were the
only counting so much. They were a really good last
place team. Now they're probably the worst last The Raider
fans with the spiky shoulder pads, like the Road Warriors
or whatever, they only give you so much clout. There

(02:56):
is no set of plays or two plays that tells
you more about Raiders football right now. The one I'm
going to tell you about what just happened in the
game that gave the Cowboys their safety.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
So Dallas is punting.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
It's thirty one sixteen, and you're if you're the Raiders,
you're saying, Okay, there's still some time left. It's a
two score game. We're getting the football back. Okay. You
know we went down the field and scored a touchdown,
So okay, maybe we have an outside shot at this right,
Maybe we have an outside shot. And Trey Tucker, who
was taking over the number one receiver responsibility, is back

(03:31):
to field the punt. He lets it bounce at the
ten yard line, right, which I mean. I would be
the best special teams coach in the NFL because I
would cut guys who let the ball hit the ground.
If you let, I want you to catch the ball
and go forward. I don't care if you want to
punt back for a touchdown. I want you to catch
the football and go forward. Those are the two most
important things a punt returner. Catch the ball and go forward.

(03:54):
That's all I want. But Tucker lets the ball bounce
inside the ten yard line, so uh okay. Now the
ball starts bouncing toward the goal line, but Cowboys players
aren't down there to get the ball yet, So Tucker
could pick up the ball at the five and cut
up field and get up to the ten yard line
at least maybe a little bit more than that. But
instead he kind of halfway decides if he's going to

(04:16):
grab the ball or not. The ball bounces a little
bit closer to the goal line and now the Cowboys
are almost on it. Now is when Trey Tucker decides,
now I'm gonna take the football.

Speaker 2 (04:26):
Wait, he cald He touched ball.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
About the three and a half yard line, tries to
cut back and gets tackled back at the one. So
he took a bad decision, made it worse, and then
made it really worse. He didn't just take a bad
decision to make it worse. He took a bad decision,
made it worse, and then doubled out and said no, no,
I can make it even worse. So then he gets
tackled the one yard line and for Brian Anger, that

(04:51):
became his twelfth pnth inside the twenty zero touchbacks because
of plays like that. So what happens, Well, the next
player the Raiders have the football, They give the ball
to Ashton genty okay, only his fifth carry of the game,
and he gets swarmed, doesn't break the plane. It's a safety.

(05:13):
So now it's a thirty three to sixteen game, it's
a seventeen point game, it's a free score game. And
now you're saying, what is this is typical raider foot
But that was one of the longest reviews ever, almost
like they were hoping that the nose of the ball
got out of the end zone just so that you
wouldn't have the indignity of the safety. When they finally
actually called Gent's name, Look, he can't even get back

(05:35):
to the line of scrimmage. They're justified. Yeah, it was
a disaster, but it's one of the great symbols of sports.
I mean, when you see the hands go up over
the top, I mean, come on, for an official, that's
that's gold right there. Other than saying he's on the
bottom of a pile giving him one of these, you
really can't top that. First down motions are great, show

(05:55):
off the delts and the tricept and all, But when
you get to do the prayer pose up top or
you know, I dream of Genie or whatever you want
to ascribe to.

Speaker 2 (06:04):
It, it's great.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
It's like I feel like you're on Like if I
was on Jeopardy, and it would be Trey Tucker allowing
the ball to hit the ground, hesitating, hesitating again before
picking up the football, then getting tackled at the two,
followed by a safety. What is right of football? Yes?

Speaker 2 (06:21):
Select again, Select again? There you have it. All right,
we'll create our own.

Speaker 1 (06:25):
Jeopardy category which gives you gems like that, because we
saw that across the National Football League a lot that
was absolutely I mean, I can't, I can't get over that.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
I realized.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
You get more of the geno Smith isms that you
might have been able to overcome. All right, you're down
two scores. He's moving the ball right because you start
getting into a little bit of a prevent defense and
allowing him a little bit of space. And then he
still holds onto the ball too damn long to get
rid of it, winging it haphazardly towards the sidelines.

Speaker 2 (07:01):
Just chaos.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
Look, and now like, when's the last time? Just think
about this for a second. Right for the Raiders and
the Cowboys. Cowboys took over on downs inside the Raider
ten yard line. We are outside of the two minute
warning and the Cowboys are kneeling on the football. When's
the last time you saw a team kneel on the
football on the other side of the two minute why

(07:22):
would you not go in and put the forty on them?
Like when is when's the most I'd be like, I
feel bad for the when the Cowboys feel bad for you,
It's all okay, Now we got to look in the
mirror and go just what are we doing well? But
they showed some of the first half stats for Williams
the Cowboys feel I mean like the Cowboys defense coming
up big. Didn't see that one coming necessarily. Ian had

(07:43):
an in our eye Watch Flex podcast going it's gino, gino,
I know this bit, uh sacks plus turnovers, But yeah,
we don't normally see a mercy international football. I mean,
I don't know the last time I've seen someone kneeling
outside of the two minute warning. I mean, we've seen
this slide down in the final minute. It has to
be the Jets at some point.

Speaker 2 (08:01):
No, no, no, because people would run.

Speaker 1 (08:03):
It up no no, yeah, yeah, yeah, it's a it's
a touchdown and it's the Jets. The Chargers that that
in that game we went to it Jets Chargers that dude.
That was probably the worst Jets that's the worst Jets
game that I've ever been to. It didn't know what
time it was. No, that's the way, that's where we
the best play. The Jets had an entire four quarters
crossing midfield in the fourth quarter. No, it was a
roughing the passer penalty when Gino Smith got hit late.

(08:25):
That was the only play that was at all day.

Speaker 2 (08:26):
Hey, that was Hey.

Speaker 1 (08:27):
I went to a Bears game once where we didn't
cross midfield. I've seen this and guys, broke, I mean,
I really, I mean the kneeling on the football outside
of the two minute warning. Like, if that's not rock
bottom for the Raiders, I don't know what is. I
don't know what is. Yeah, I mean it's it's just

(08:48):
just bad, bad football penalties that that take you back to.

Speaker 2 (08:51):
The edge of the goal line.

Speaker 1 (08:53):
And then he's lined up what six seven yards behind
the line of scrimmage, Like all right, head of steam.
Now that offensive line ain't getting it. I really, it's
at the two minute way. And the thing is the
Raiders still have timeouts, they still have timeouts, and and
and the Cowboys are kneeling on.

Speaker 2 (09:10):
Don't tell me, Carol, Like what is going on here?
What is happening. I don't understand this game.

Speaker 1 (09:17):
I feel like that that's scene in Misery when Kathy
Bates is going, do you all have amnesia? He didn't
get out of the cock of duty car, like you're calling,
you're kneeling on the football outside of the dead. Hopefully
there's something going on here that that that I'm not
picking up whatever. But they're kneeling on the football and
the Raiders aren't calling time out, So I don't know
if this is something that they're that they figured out

(09:39):
between the two I I I have no idea, but
I've never seen something like this. Well, I mean, you
know they anything use any of their timeouts they gave up? Man,
why why bother? Take them home with you as you go.
But like you get to run forty seconds off each play?
So in nite, what's the ay? Wait, what's the over

(10:00):
under on this game? It was either forty nine or
forty nine and a half at thirty three.

Speaker 2 (10:06):
Sixteen and theyre kneeling on the football. Yeah, I have
it at forty nine and a half.

Speaker 1 (10:09):
As the great I put up, somebody's going to jail
so that no, no, But your your question was app
I had it in the notes of your discussion. But yeah,
it's it's certainly a whole other mess that you add
that that hook. I I don't know, I don't know
what this is all about, but we gotta we gotta
hear something about this after that. I mean, I don't know,

(10:31):
I've never seen this, and Schottenheimer's pulling everybody off the
field now and it's I don't I don't know what's happening.

Speaker 2 (10:38):
The game's not over, so it turned over on down.

Speaker 1 (10:40):
Yeah yeah, so uh you know again, we'll get listen.
At least this game is bringing us all kinds of
contraversial because we're gonna have the latest on on George
Pickens n CD lambler from Brian Schottenheimer, will hear from
Jerry Jones. Because the Cowboys two best wide receivers were
not on the field for the beginning of this game.
It was termed a coach decision why they didn't start

(11:02):
for the Cowboys tonight against the Raiders. Now that being said,
is we talked about it last hour and all the
controversy and how you know, cowboys bathe in it, so
I'm sure this is gonna be fine. Look, and they
actually played in the game. George Pickens tonight nine catches
one hundred and forty four yards in a touchdown. Right
incredible night from George Pickens, who basically is showing, Hey,

(11:22):
I'm the co number one along with Ceedee Lamb. I
would this is where if you are the Cowboys, You're
Jerry Jones, are You's somebody whoever George Pickens listens to
you get to him after this game and you say, Okay, George,
this is who you need to be, this player. Not
about what happened with the bench, but you need to
be You can be this guy. You can be one

(11:45):
of the top five receivers in the NFL. All the
knucklehead stuff that you went went through and with the
Steelers that got you out of here. Hey look where
you are. You're lucky. Now you're in a lights out offense.
The Cowboys offense is one of the top three offenses
in the league. You can be one of these guys,
big contract, big superstar career, only twenty four years old.
Be this guy. Don't get off the path now, don't

(12:05):
get off the path. Be this guy because you can
clearly and there's enough footballs in the offense between you
and CD right, we've seen that.

Speaker 2 (12:12):
That's fine.

Speaker 1 (12:13):
Now there's gonna be a money thing and Jerry Jones
will have to figure it out. It will be a
whole big drama back and forth. But just you can
be this guy. Don't get off this beat. You're on
the beam, you're on the path. Don't get off it
now because you are proving just how good you are
and how you can be one of the leagues great
for a long time. Still continue to be this guy.

(12:34):
It's always the curiosity to be that quarterback wide receiver
combination thing in Pittsburgh, and certainly the number of wide
receivers and we're not even getting to go down the
full Antonio Brown rabbit hole, but the number of wide
receivers that had issues there and had to be sluffed
off to other teams or left the NFL shortly thereafter.

(12:56):
For George Pickens, a lot of questions like why why
so mad as to why things were going on there,
but final year of his deal. So now we start
looking at going ahead to twenty twenty six. Currently they've
got twenty million in cap space. We know selectively Jerry
will spend money, I think based on the way the

(13:17):
defense rose up after trades and everything they've done. He's
just going to keep pointing going.

Speaker 2 (13:22):
I was right. I was right.

Speaker 1 (13:26):
Most everybody stinks in the league, So we stink just
as as stinky as other teams.

Speaker 2 (13:31):
So we're not there.

Speaker 1 (13:32):
Yeah, but you know, I didn't hate the Micah Parsons trade,
and it's just on the timing and the way it
kind of went down, a lot of unnecessary slap fighting
in the media. But when you look at it going forward,
now you've got the pieces of your offense. You found
Javonte Williams, who was a guy that was a cast

(13:52):
off from Denver. You look at what Ceedee Lamb has been,
Jake Ferguson, you paid before the year, and he comes
up big in a number of spots in these games.
And now you add George Pickens. I mean, Dak Prescott's
gotta be the happiest guy going. And certainly if you're
Jerry Jones watching this play out, because Williams is under

(14:13):
contract right on the defensive side for another couple of years,
is he not, So it's not like you have to
go back and rob the bank for him. So you're
in a pretty good spot. So go go pay Pickens
and keep this machine moving. Exit out about a Fresco
exit swalling down The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Harmon. We have more on this coming up next. Again,
the controversy is just gonna begins. We're gonna hear from

(14:34):
the Cowboys. But straight ahead, a big quarterback change. We
are getting that. Everybody's got to just chill out on
that's next, Jason to Mike Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (14:47):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 4 (14:58):
Hey, we're Cavino and Rich Fox Sports Radio every day
five to seven pm Eastern. But here's the thing, we
never have enough time to get to everything we want
to get to.

Speaker 5 (15:07):
And that's why we have a brand new podcast called
over Promised. You see, we're having so much fun in
our two hour show. We never get to everything, honestly,
because this guy is over promised in things we never
have time for. Yeah, you blubber list jam in me. Well,
you know what it's called over promise. You should be
good at it because you've been over promising women for years. Well,
it's a Covino and Rich after show, and we want

(15:28):
you to be a part of it. We're gonna be
talking sports, of course, but we're also gonna talk life
and relationships. And if Rich and I are arguing about
something or we didn't have enough time, it will continue.

Speaker 2 (15:37):
On our after show called over Promised.

Speaker 4 (15:39):
Well, if you don't get enough Covino and Rich, make
sure you check out over Promised and also Uncensored by
the way, so maybe we'll go at it even a
little harder. It's gonna be the best after show podcast
of all time.

Speaker 5 (15:49):
There you go, over Promising. Remember you could see on YouTube,
but definitely join us. Listen Over Promised with Covino and
Rich on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you
get your podcasts.

Speaker 2 (16:01):
And his name is John.

Speaker 1 (16:03):
C Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with my
best friend Mike Harmon. I'm standing up in the studio now.
We're gonna have more on this coming up in a
few minutes. The end of the Cowboy Raider game was
really bizarre. The Cowboys take over on downs inside the

(16:24):
Raider ten yard line on the other side of the
two minute warning, and the Cowboys kneel on the football.
The Raiders do not use timeouts. Raiders get the ball
back with a few seconds left, Gino Smith kneel's on
the football and that ended the game. Now, I don't
know anything, right, and I don't know anything. This is
really bizarre, right, We've never seen it one last time

(16:44):
you see some neil on the football outside of the
two minute warning. Wait you don't, I'm wondering. Then you
saw at the end of the game the Cowboys holding
up marshaw on Nielan's jersey, who tragically took his own
life in a really awful situation a couple of weeks ago.
And you know, look, it's there's nothing, There's nothing you

(17:05):
can say about that story. It's just an awful story.
And it was really classy tonight. Max Crosby before the
game was wearing a suicide prevention Hotline T shirt. Other
Raiders were. They were really doing a lot to support
the Cowboys with this. And yeah, we've seen him since
it happened. We'd seen that around the league, right, Mac
Hollins and others as well as they were doing their

(17:26):
pregame entrances. Right that the NBA had started WNBA for
years and now it's become more and more of the
NFL pregame, so a message that certainly resonated throughout the league.
Now I'm just saying I don't know, but I'm just
saying this because we look, we've never seen something like that,
a team, you know, not use your team on that
side of the two minute warning using timeouts. Why are
the Cowboys not trying to get in the or at

(17:48):
least running the ball to get in the end zone
for another score. I'm wondering because of what happened, both
teams were really in sync with what they wanted to
do for Marshall Neeland tonight. I'm wondering if that was
and I'm just saying this, if that was a Neil
for nieland kind of situation that both sides were okay

(18:08):
with this is what we're gonna do. Because you saw
the Cowboys showing his jersey up at the end of
the game, and you know, it just hit me that
maybe that's what this was. I don't know, and that
we're waiting to hear because who knows, because it's easy
to say, boy, the Raiders not using timeouts. I wonder
if that whole end of game was a Neil for
kneel in situation, Pete Carroll obviously would be on board
with it. Cowboys, and that's what that was at the end. Yeah,

(18:30):
I mean on the Raiders side, I guess from a
football perspective, you're down two scores, they're already in the
red zone. Not to say you couldn't have forced things
and gotten the ball back, but you know, maybe on
your side the concession from the Cowboys side of things,
it's it's just I guess in a large way, when

(18:51):
we talk about the overarching of sport, like until the
final whistles sounds that I'm playing to put as many
points up on you right until you throw the damn towel.

Speaker 2 (19:02):
And maybe they did the.

Speaker 1 (19:04):
REVERBIALW Towell toss at some point that we miss. But
you know it, certainly a lot also falls out of
this because we have that situation. But you also still
have the game total that was in doubt at that point.
We talked about it forty nine and a half. It
finishes thirty three, sixteen.

Speaker 2 (19:24):
It's gonna be a lot.

Speaker 1 (19:25):
Of folks asking questions, Oh, yeah, you gotta refund my bets,
you gotta do this, you refund nothing, but certainly you
will have to address it. But here's where here's where
I can see it having some merit is that, look,
Pete Carroll's coach in the NFL a long time, right,
he's coaching the NFL a long time. Brian Schottenheimer's coach
in the NFL a long time as well as the
head coach. You saw both sides supporting the other with

(19:49):
this story, certainly, and you know it. Does it Does
it make sense that Pete Carroll wouldn't use his timeouts?
Does it make sense that he wouldn't do that. I
know you could say Raiders, because you know Raiders, you
can say that, But does it make sense he wouldn't
do it? Does it make sense the Cowboys would kneel
on the football at that point. They wouldn't try to
get one first down and then or try to get

(20:10):
in the end zone or or whatever they were doing
because they were they were inside the ten yard line,
because you don't want to give the ball back to
the you know, the Raid even though you're looking at saying, okay,
if they call their time out here, because if the
Raiders were gonna call time out, the Cowboys would be
kicking a field goal with about two minutes.

Speaker 2 (20:27):
Left in the game, because you had the Raiders.

Speaker 1 (20:28):
Would get the ball back and it would be a
it would it would still be the look, the Raiders
still weren't going to win. But in theory, the Raiders
could have gotten the ball back with two minutes to
go in the game. Yeah, I mean it's a three
possession game. So you know, you're you're just going through
the math the permutations of how everything would have to
play out. So it essentially negligible, right if we do

(20:52):
one of those dopey win probability things. It was at
ninety nine point nine, you still had the you had
your three timeouts.

Speaker 2 (21:00):
And you have the two minute warning. Yeah, still on
the board here, So.

Speaker 1 (21:06):
Lend some credence to it. Again, I'm sure there's a
lot of upset people that when you take over on
what the the six yard line? Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
where's my touchdown? Where's my Javonte Williams touchdown? By anytime?

Speaker 5 (21:20):
Time?

Speaker 2 (21:21):
Time over total?

Speaker 1 (21:23):
Right, if I bet the Cowboys to score over a
certain point total or all of those things in game betting,
perhaps you jumped down the over because of the early successes.
So because we only had sixteen points in that second half. Yeah,
so again, I don't know, but just what because it's
these are you know, Pete Carroll's you know, guy's been around,

(21:44):
the guy knows a lot about winning. Guys won a
super Bowl. He should have won two super Bowls. So
that's really it's just something that's out there and we'll
find out at the end, like we'll talk about it.
We'll see the Raiders will talk about it. I'm sure
the Cowboys will talk about it on shore if the
Cowboys get to that. Because the question is gonna be
anyway a minute, why were George Pickens and Cedee Lamb
bench to start the game. So there's gonna be a
lot of stuff coming out of the postgame in this Yeah,

(22:06):
I mean there were other plays that are being a
highlighting spotlighted near missus on throws in the red zone
and things from possessions before. But but it is a
big talking point, you know, Dak Prescott, we'll we'll do
his media and we'll keep an eye on that. And
certainly Schottenheimer coming out a game, he's got multiple things

(22:26):
to address because we've still got to go to the
pregame of the Pickens and CD lamb. And now we
get this story at the end. So again we'll hopefully
hear more about this coming up in a bit. Again.
The Cowboys just beginning to talk right now following their
victory over the Raiders. Tim how to find out what's
trending in the wide world of sports from Monsey, Blagos, Moncie,
what do you got for us?

Speaker 6 (22:45):
Yeah, let me tell you what's not trending is my
fantasy football team with Ashton gent.

Speaker 1 (22:49):
Oh well, listen, it'll get the minus. If he had
one hundred carries tonight, he would have had one hundred yards.
Thank you.

Speaker 3 (22:57):
Yeah, that's it. Yeah, six carries for seven yeardards.

Speaker 2 (23:01):
Well, alright, maybe eighty five carries. You would have had
one hundred eighty five colts.

Speaker 3 (23:05):
Uh no, no, kids, no bueno. But it's fine, it's fine.
I'm not upset at all the cow Let it go already,
So well, alright, let it go, moving on, all.

Speaker 2 (23:16):
George played against your team all now.

Speaker 3 (23:20):
Now, we're just gonna throw that one in earlier earlier.

Speaker 2 (23:24):
But not right now.

Speaker 3 (23:25):
Right now, we're still in the NFL.

Speaker 6 (23:26):
We're still talking about the Cowboys improving to four five
and one uh after defeating the Raiders in Las Vegas.

Speaker 3 (23:34):
Thirty three to sixteen was the final score.

Speaker 6 (23:37):
Dak Prescott was twenty five of thirty three for two
hundred and sixty eight yards and four touchdowns. George Pickens
had nine catches, one hundred and forty four yards and
eight touchdown. Raiders fall to two and eight after this one.
It was not pretty from the beginning for the Raiders.
Other NFL news, We're probably not gonna see Michael Pennick

(23:58):
junior anymore. The Falcons quarterback is headed to injured reserve
after aggravating a bone bruise in his knee, and ESPN
reports that he's not going to play again. Falcons will
be with out wide receiver Drake London for Week twelve
he suffered at PCL Spring. They're facing the Saints for
Week twelve. The Jets are making a change at quarterback.
It's going to be Justin Fields in for quarterback number
two this time. Tyrod Taylor will start Week twelve against

(24:20):
the Ravens. Texans quarterback cg Strad remains in concussion protocol.
He did not practice today. The league excuse Me has
suspended Bengals wide receiver Jamar Chase one game for spitting
on Steelers defensive back Jalen Ramsey during yesterday's game. Chase
will appeal the suspension. In college football, Virginia Tech officially
hard former Penn State head coach James Franklin as their
new head football coach, and The Athletic reports that Ole

(24:42):
Miss has given Lane Kiffen a deadline of November twenty
eight to decide if he's gonna leave to take jobs
at either Florida or LSU.

Speaker 3 (24:51):
In the NBA, the final game has wrapped.

Speaker 6 (24:54):
Up and the Bulls pulled off the win over the
Nuggets in the Altitude. One thirty to one twenty seven
was the final score. Josh Ginny twenty one points, fourteen rebound,
six assists, Nikola yokch with a triple double thunder over
the Pelicans one twenty six to one oh nine. The
Heat held on at home to defeat the Nicks one
fifteen to one thirteen. Clippers were winning until they weren't.

(25:16):
Seventy six Ers came back to beat them one ten
to one. OA James Harden twenty eight points, Tyrese Maxi
thirty nine points, and the.

Speaker 3 (25:23):
Pistons have one ten in a row.

Speaker 6 (25:24):
They took down the Pacers one twenty seven two one twelve,
and the NHL one game is still going on. It's
the Mammoth and the Ducks and they're tied at one
a piece late in the second period, while the Kings
had a winning streak that was snapped by the Capitals.
Two to one was the final score there, and the
Blue Jackets edged the Canadians four to three in a shootout.

Speaker 1 (25:44):
Back to you guys, thanks a bunch of monds New
so uh, one of my big Bowl predictions is gonna
becoming true.

Speaker 2 (25:51):
Okay, just so you know my bit.

Speaker 1 (25:52):
What did I say the Lions were gonna beat the Eagles?

Speaker 2 (25:56):
No, just send them to hell. That was not the
Jets Super Bowl.

Speaker 1 (25:59):
No, that was that was two years ago, two years
years prosper two years ago.

Speaker 2 (26:06):
Two years ago, it said jetson the Super Bowl. It's
two years ago. It says it promo.

Speaker 1 (26:11):
It's it's not two weeks Yes, I had ohen seven,
I said we're going to the Super Bowl event, okay,
and knowing not that game either. Before the season, when
I said the Browns are going to start your favorite
burger chain, five guys a quarterback this year.

Speaker 2 (26:27):
Oh, they're gonna start all five.

Speaker 1 (26:28):
I even gave you the order, Joe Flacco. Now you
have Dylan Gabriel who got hurt. Shadora Sanders came in
for his NFL debut a day ago, and now it
looks like Sanders is going to start this week because
what we're getting word tonight is that Dylan Gabriel will
be out.

Speaker 2 (26:47):
Because of a concussion.

Speaker 1 (26:48):
Does it count? I Kenny Pickett starts for the Steelers
this week. I'm sorry for the Raiders next week as
we we deposed Gino Smith. Sorry, I put him back
in his original We are getting too week twelve and
my five guys bold prediction is right on time. Man,
Well you know, five guys, we're gonna have your five five.

(27:08):
Not a big fan of the fries though, but but
the burger yeah oh yeah, yeah yeah yeah burgers.

Speaker 2 (27:12):
Yeah said anything about food?

Speaker 1 (27:14):
Oh oh sorry, I thought I thought you've been five
nights at Freddy's Part two.

Speaker 2 (27:22):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (27:23):
That had no bearing on the conversation we were having yesterday.
It got zero bearing.

Speaker 2 (27:26):
It no bearing. It's not it's a call back. You
play it all the time. It's the last time I
played it, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (27:34):
Eight minutes ago no, okay, you just lied to America.

Speaker 2 (27:37):
I did not lie to eight minutes ago. Is doing
an award winning updates. Oh that wasn't eight minutes ago.
It was more like two minutes ago. Now you know everything, Yes,
I did. I know that it was.

Speaker 1 (27:45):
I know that I know because I know what Monty said.
My fantasy football team, Big fat zero, Big Fan zero.
My fantasy football team, Big ve zero. That was two
minutes ago. Yeah, you're checking.

Speaker 2 (27:55):
I'm checking right now.

Speaker 4 (27:55):
You're ready?

Speaker 1 (27:56):
Yeah, straight and hals, Okay, you got got, you got
got Because I told Tyjan I don't need to hear
that drop anymore. I got a thousand times during the
odd couple. I'm like, oh, don't you hear theymore?

Speaker 2 (28:10):
But she said, Kevin. But here's the thing. It's new
to me.

Speaker 1 (28:14):
It's okay, I need a timeout. I need a time
out right now. This is where Jason Smith wants a
time out. He wants to talk it over right. Yeah,
so I told you five guys. Now we're right here.
Week twelve, it's gonna be the third guy at quarterback,
Shador Sanders. It's gonna be another one, I'm sure in
sometime in December, and somebody else like the final week
of the season. Right, So that's what's gonna happen now

(28:35):
as far as Shador Sanders, everybody needs to blank and
chill on this story. Man. All I saw today was
how many athletes saying, oh, how do you not give
him any reps with the ones? You put him out
there and expect him to do well.

Speaker 2 (28:47):
You put him in a.

Speaker 1 (28:48):
Position to fail, because this is why Sanders obviously had
a bad game yesterday coming in. Did you know, look
did it did to make a couple of really nice throws,
but obviously no four for six. Okay, everybody's got to
chill the blank out because nothing bad was done, nothing
wrong was done, Nothing wrong was done to Shador Sanders.

(29:10):
Shadoor Sanders is a fifth round draft pick who is
the backup quarterback because the first guy got traded and
the guy you took in the third round had been starting.
Because you liked him better as a player. Now, right
or wrong, you liked him better just because his name
is Shador Sanders. People think he should be getting all
kinds of trade. You know what, fifth round draft picks
and backups don't get a lot of reps with the ones.

(29:32):
That's just how it goes. Shadoor Sanders is a curiosity.
He is a lottery ticket. Maybe he's gonna be good,
but you know what, clearly there's a bit of a
disconnect with the team as to who they want to
play and where they want him to play. But the
bottom line is this, he is a fifth round draft
pick and a backup quarterback. If he was a number
two overall pick, well number one, he be playing by now.

(29:54):
But he is a number two overall pick. He would say, hey, yeah,
you got to give this guy some time with the ones. Man,
he is your future is a curiosity. He may not
even be with the team after this year.

Speaker 2 (30:03):
No wrong was done.

Speaker 1 (30:05):
The starter that got at the reps they wanted to
give the reps who got the reps. This is what
happens in the NFL. Guys get thrust into action and
he didn't play. Well, Okay, this is not his fault,
this is not the rep. This is just how the
NFL goes. But because oh it's Deon Sanderson and I
don't know if a lot of players want to get
text from Dion saying, hey, thanks for sticking up for
my son. I don't know if that's what they're really after.

(30:27):
But the number of people that I saw at that
in Fomer players that are like, oh, this is awful.
They did them wrong. Like Shannon Sharpe was saying that,
I'm like, are you kidding? This is kind of how
the NFL goes? And you were in there. You're a
Hall of famer, Shannon, you're a hall of famer. I
know you're a hall of famer because I saw that
episode on TV.

Speaker 2 (30:42):
I'm a Hall of famer. Skip right, So I saw that.

Speaker 1 (30:45):
But this is this is just how it goes in
the NFL. Now he'll get the reps with the ones
and he'll start and we'll see how it goes.

Speaker 2 (30:51):
You know you made Ye'll skip.

Speaker 1 (30:54):
Nothing bad happened here, nothing awful.

Speaker 2 (30:57):
Was no wrong. Well that's a whole that's a different
story that that is a bad thing. That is that
is the bad ending of the day.

Speaker 1 (31:06):
When you get home after your NFL debut and find
out you know that, you know that's a bad thing.
But on the field, no bad things were done. Nobody
was nobody was put in a position. This is what
they weren't expecting that you play. You're expecting your your
number one quarterback, especially what you're the Browns and you're
looking at next year. You want to give Dylan Gabril
as many reps as possible to prove you ken or
can't do it. So yeah, I completely get it, but

(31:28):
don't forget he's a fifth round pick and a lottery
ticket slash curiosity. No, I appreciated some of the feedback.
Yet Tim Hasselback stopped by the Dan Patrick Show this
morning some clips and made their way around. You had
Luke McCown write a nine billion word missive about it.
Guys said, we're in the league for more than a
cup of coffee, but we're backups and occasionally pressed in

(31:51):
the dude. He talking about how you have to be
as well versed as possible when that that time comes
right break lass in case of emergency, the only time
that you would get meaningful rips. And looking at McCown,
who really laid it out in a whole way. It
was like you go back to training camp, especially if
you got a veteran like in Cleveland right where you

(32:12):
had Joe Flacco there, well, you had a very crowded room.
Kenny Pickett was hurt until he got traded, so he
wasn't taking up reps. But to your point, Dylan Gabriel
was the guy third round, and we could argue about
the merits, the ceilings and whatever else when they drafted
him in the third round head of Shudor Sanders unless
something drastically changed in workouts or whatever, they decided to

(32:34):
put Gabriel in. And to the point of, you know,
folks that want to go to touchdown to interception ratios, he
didn't turn the ball over. Well, here's the problem. Dylan
Gabriel also doesn't push the ball down the field, so
no risk, what the risk it for? The biscuit kind
of thing is not there. But now he's hurt and
you move to the next thing. People calling out a
couple of very specific plays of protections and you'd like

(32:58):
to think there's proper coordination between your quarterback and the
offensive line. But to suddenly go full conspiracy theories of
these guys don't want him to succeed. Kevin Stefanski. He
likes his job. I got to imagine he may have
fundamental issues with the front office and with Jimmy Haslam

(33:18):
in some of the decisions that they've made through the years.
Go back and owing to the Deshaun Watson contract or whatever,
which really changes a lot of the rest of the
way you can structure a squad based on that sunk cost.
But all of it to say, he's not looking to
get anybody hurt, like he still wants to coach, whether
it's in Cleveland or somewhere else. You are not taking

(33:40):
your professional future because it's obvious that you don't like
shedor Sanderson and are going to put him in harm's way.
You're not doing that. You're never getting another job in
the NFL. If that's legitimately what you think is transpiring here. Now,
there were a couple of plays, like I said, that
were called out. It's like and then you had former

(34:03):
pros immediately refuting. It's like, well, you see Sanders calls
out this protection. Can you overwrite him though you're not
the line of scrimmage, you can't say no, no, Schad or
that's a bad idea because of this right. No, that's it.
And once he's on the field, he's the field general.
That's the end of it. And if he calls a
wrong protection, you may not like it. You try to
protect as best you can, but he's got to get

(34:23):
the damn ball out. If he called the wrong one
and a couple of times he did not, and he
got blown up. What you can be excited about for
the final six weeks if you're a Jerry Junior owner,
because he'll actually push the ball down the field and
give him a chance to make a play. Him and
Cedric Tillman, who he'd been working with on the second team,
finally got into the the box score a little bit.

Speaker 2 (34:43):
But all in all, in I.

Speaker 1 (34:45):
Mean, folks need to calm down. Yeah, it's nothing bad
was done to him, nothing bad with change's surname. Does
anybody still care in the game during the game, during
the game, Okay, during the game, during the game, right, well,
that could have happened during on camera. They say it
happened during Okay, on the field, on the field, on
the game, on the field, on camera. Coming up next,

(35:07):
we take a look back at the game of the
week in the NFL and my most unpredictable take of
the week. I guarantee it. It's next right here, Jason
and Mike Foxy.

Speaker 2 (35:16):
Smith done this top Smith MYOMO. Be sure to catch

Speaker 1 (35:31):
Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Harmon.

Speaker 2 (35:35):
Look, I'm gonna do things my way, and my way
is terrible.

Speaker 1 (35:39):
We'll have more in the Cowboys big win over the
Raiders coming up in about ten minutes, because well everyone
over the Raiders is.

Speaker 2 (35:45):
A big win. About dem Calvin, you win by a lot.

Speaker 1 (35:47):
But game of the Week in the NFL this week
a lot of fallout from the Rams and the Seahawks,
two best teams in the NFL. We talked about this
going into this weekend. I said Rams, because I had
more offense, that the Rams could turn Sam Donald back
into Sam Donald for a day. Then I did the
Seahawks defense shutting down Matthew Stafford. Boy, did I hit

(36:09):
that on the head. Sam Donald four picks his worst
game as a Seahawk and one of the three worst
games he's had in the past two years. But still
a waffer thin margin between these squads.

Speaker 4 (36:22):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (36:23):
The Rams have shown they're the best team in the
NFL and they can win any kind of game against
any kind of team. Right now, they would beat the
Eagles as good as the Eagles looked against the Lions.
They can win any kind of game. The Matthew Stafford
heater is continuing, Uh, they're the best team in the NFL.
Now here's where I give him most unpredictable take of
the week. Because I'm gonna defend someone because I'm upset

(36:45):
that this person needs to be defended. Okay, Okay, sure,
I'm upset. I'm gonna defend Sam Donald because I'm mad
that he's got to be defended that he had Following
the game yesterday and today, all his teammates all jump
to his defense, right, that's the big headline. Jumped his fan.
Sam is great. We love Sam, X, Y and Z.

(37:06):
Many teammates had because of the narrative of hey, Sam Donald, Ah,
we knew this is gonna happen, Sam Donald, Sam Darnald,
So all his teammates had to jump to his defense.
I'm doing this because he doesn't need to be defended.
He's a quarterback that had a bad game. He has
proven to be a good quarterback that had a bad game.

(37:27):
He's an MVP discussions. But now all sudden, Sam Donald's
one bad game. Yeah, against the best defense in the NFC. Okay,
he had a bad game. It happens. He was great
all year for the Vikings, but his last two games
weren't great.

Speaker 2 (37:41):
Oh, get rid of Sam?

Speaker 1 (37:42):
Do you know what it happens that way? The excuse
is that we want to make for quarterbacks that we
like a little bit more sure. And I'll be the
first guy to tell you. Look, Sam, I was so hesitant.

Speaker 2 (37:53):
All year last year. Is he a little overrated? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (37:56):
But the bottom line is the guy's a good quarterback.
He was good last year. He's been good with the Seahawks.
It's a couple of systems that work out. He had
a bad game, right, he had a bad game. You're
gonna get a bit of a of a of a
bounce coming off of the week before when you were
out thirty five nothing in the second quarter and it
looked like you're watching Ohio State Plain Northern Ohio. Right, Okay,

(38:18):
this game is over at halftime. All the backups are
gonna play. Donald has proven to be a good quarterback.

Speaker 2 (38:23):
Right.

Speaker 1 (38:24):
I've been the toughest guy on him at the end. Now,
is he as great as some of his supporters say?

Speaker 4 (38:29):
No?

Speaker 1 (38:29):
But he shouldn't have to be defended anymore. It's like
you don't defend Mahomes. You don't defend Josh allten, not
that he's this kind of quarterback, but when you have
shown this is not just three weeks and the guy
was he he was hot for a couple of weeks.
Donald's been pretty good that you're seeing that the Vikings
made the wrong decision in kicking him out for JJ McCarthy.
The Seahawks got lucky. Look at them seven and three

(38:49):
top of the NFC. Why Donald fits with what they're doing.
He and jsn have incredible chemistry together. The offense will
only get better as time goes on. And now you
know bringing in Rashishi. But I'm defending Sam Darnall because
I'm mad that he had to be defended by the steements.

Speaker 2 (39:04):
You don't have to.

Speaker 1 (39:05):
It's hey, Sam had a bad game. Sam's great, that's all.
But just because you see that, you can tell that
there's that big portion of the population just waiting for
the other shoot of fall, just because he had been
so bad for so long.

Speaker 2 (39:18):
No, that's it.

Speaker 1 (39:19):
I mean, go back to the Daniel Jones game against Pittsburgh.
All right, he throws three picks all of a sudden,
He's the worst thing in the world out there. It
is there's Daniel Jones for your Sam Donald stuff. Same
idea of if he has a bad game, there's no
grace and he still almost let him do a win.

Speaker 2 (39:36):
Right, defense is there?

Speaker 1 (39:37):
And I love the fact that these guys all one
after another lined up right Ernest Jones the fourth with
the got him on your lips, blank you so good.
I love that they rally to a guy's defense because
we've certainly seen plenty of teams where they get awful
mum and quiet about asking about their quarterback, wide receiver,

(39:59):
who ever is the question mark? And certainly the quarterback
where where's the crown? With most of it? But for
Sam Donald, it's been fantastic. You don't have a great
running game. You basically had JSN and a bunch of guys. Well,
maybe Shaheed is the guy that unquarks things and you
get it right. The Rams is not the team that

(40:20):
you were expecting to roll up on, not the first team.
The Rams make their quarterback look like he should be
playing JV football and not.

Speaker 2 (40:26):
The less right.

Speaker 1 (40:27):
But I mean this wasn't against the Raiders where Sam
Donald threw four pass the Jones face right, But I
mean they got the w But Certainly there were some
uncomfortable moments for Matthew Stafford and for Rams fans in
this one. Right, it's the NFL on a week to
week basis. We can make heroes or villains out of
a lot of guys. I mean, but I can't. I'm
defending Sam Donald because I'm mad he had to be defended.

Speaker 2 (40:48):
It's crazy.

Speaker 1 (40:49):
Where the Wizards are twenty twenty five, the topsy Turvy World.

Speaker 2 (40:52):
They tell you, Jason and because you're scared of Ernest
Jones X. I'm not scared of Ernest Jones. I will
kick you. My name is Mike Carmon. I will kick
your hat. That's right, Hell out, mister Jones.

Speaker 1 (41:03):
Coming up next, we get back into the biggest developing
NFL story of the night, Cowboys Raiders. This is Fox

Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant.
