(00:50):
TNF Between the Lions and the Packers everything we told
you was gonna be last night. Six and a half
to go in the fourth quarter, Lions holding on to
a thirty one twenty eight lead over Green Bay. The
Packers are driving. Tim Patrick's second touchdown of the night
has given the Lions the lead and the Packers now
trying to answer here with about six and a half

(01:12):
left to go, A big moment in this game, which
I'm sure we'll get to after this game is overs.
We're breaking it down. Lions got caught campbeling a little
bit earlier in the second half where you know, look
what I tell you, cambelling when when I gotta explain
campbelling to millennials. Campbelling is a term we like to
use for when Dan Campbell, head coach of the lines,

(01:33):
decides to make some really risky decisions that maybe are
not made the best possible time. We know that he
likes to go for it on fourth down. Hey, you're
inside the two. We're gonna go for it on fourth down.
We have fourth and goal or fourth and one from
the sixth. The Lions go for it on fourth and
one from their own thirty. From their own thirty. They

(01:56):
give it to Jamir Gibbs. He does not make it,
and three plays days later, the Packers are in the
end zone. It was Josh Jacob's third touchdown of the night,
uh and a Lions lead, which you know what, Hey,
sometimes punting ain't the worst thing in the world. You
go for it on fourth and one from your own thirty.
A heat check call, Dan Campbell, it doesn't go their

(02:16):
way and as a result they give up the lead.

Speaker 3 (02:18):
Now one of the albums of the year is uh
Hackneyed Diamond. Uh uh, you've got the lived by the Sword,
Die by the Sword. I mean that is completely you're
your old Dan Campbell.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
Who did that die by the Sword song in the eighties,
Die by the Sword? By the sword? Do do do?

Speaker 4 (02:35):
Do?

Speaker 1 (02:35):
Do do do by the sword. We're listening to that
in the car. But I kind of dig that do
do do do do do? Die by the sword? Do
do do?

Speaker 4 (02:44):
Do?

Speaker 5 (02:44):
Do do?

Speaker 4 (02:44):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (02:45):
That's good. Yeah, okay, if you do, if you do
eighties heavy metal die by the Sword, I that'll come
up by the sword. Why does it take you so
long to type? Because I got fat fingers, I know,
but so why But I still find a way around it.
Dragon Force No no, no, not to send through the
fire and flames, Dragon Force no no no.

Speaker 4 (03:02):
No.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
Tad one maybe accept it might have been accept Would
you like me to know? That's all right?

Speaker 3 (03:11):
Well, I just have to go to your rendition of it.
That the one thing on that play though, to well,
actually do things. Number one, if they'd gone to knuckles,
they might have been able to get the first down instead.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
You guys. The other is at least there was defense
for a play.

Speaker 3 (03:27):
Yeah, yeah, because otherwise we hadn't seen a lot of
it in the second you know.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
And that's the thing. That's what, that's how, that's kind
of how I want defense in my NFL games. Show
me defense once in a while, once in a while,
once in a while, show me a.

Speaker 3 (03:37):
Hey, that's a real Glasgow and you are going to
have some defense when the park opens.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
That's a really good play, right there. I like that. Okay, Now,
give me a bunch of touchdowns that give me a
lot of offense, give me up and down the field,
give me that, give me, give me, give me, gim me,
gim me. But I like give me a give me
a good defensive play once in a while, once in
a great while. Okay, good, uh really quick. You know
it's funny you say, Dragon Force. I did not know this,
but you know, my wife does trivia every Wednesday night
and we haven't gotten one of those questions. You know why,

(04:02):
because we haven't gotten any good sports questions. Okay, that's
the reason why. But last night they the one of
the big questions when they had to risk a lat
on they got it wrong, and she said, I don't
think you would have got it. And I said, well,
what is They said, well, okay, last year was blah
blah blah, but so far in twenty twenty four, the
new Chinese New Year began in March. Whenever it began,
I don't know, they said, and it is the year

(04:24):
of which of which animal slash creature. And everyone's like,
oh my god, I have no idea. She was, and
they played this song and I said okay, and I
said what song did they play? And she goes, they
played this song called Through the Fire and Flames. I go, oh,
I would have got it. Dragon Force, that's the guitar
hero song. She goes, what ago, that's the guitar hero

(04:45):
song that nobody could play because it's the fastest song ever.
The kid played it on Ellen Show Back, you know,
when Ellen was in Hollywood and they liked her, and
the kid played it on like expert who was insane.
They had the guitarist for Dragon Force try to play
it and he couldn't, and this kid was able to
do it, playing this whole thing. It's the fast I
love it.

Speaker 4 (05:02):
You know.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
Wait, they actually trotted out the guy from Dragon. Yeah,
the guy got Herman Herman Meyer I think is his name,
or so not Herd Munster like Herman Meyer. They brought
him on.

Speaker 3 (05:11):
Lily so that he asked down Lewis for some college
basketball picks.

Speaker 1 (05:17):
So Ellen brings this kid out who played because this
is back. This is probably about ten fifteen years ago.
Again Ellen Hollywood about ten fifteen years ago where Guitar
Hero was the big game and everything was great and
playing something on Expert was incredibly difficult. And Through the
Fire and Flames is the last song on Guitar Hero,
Like it's the one you unlock when you make it
to the end, and it's so hard to play because
it's so unbelievably fast. It's so tough that the version

(05:40):
that they ran that they made it onto their album.
They kept him even though the guitarist broke a string
in the last thirty seconds of the songs. He was like,
I'm never gonna play it better than that, So he
broke a string and it doesn't matter. So they bring
this kid out and this kid's hitting all the notes
like a one hundred percent. So then they bring out
the guitarist and he like fails the song in the

(06:00):
first few seconds.

Speaker 3 (06:03):
I mean he would have been older and his maybe
his fingers weren't his dexterrous.

Speaker 1 (06:07):
No, this is still dragon Force and there Hey the
song wasn't that old in the middle he Hey, dragon Force.
I'll tell you it's more. If more thrash metal songs
were like Through the Fire and Flames, I would listen
to a lot more thrash metal. How about that? Because
it's an awesome song.

Speaker 3 (06:20):
There is your uh, your challenge to the musical world
right there. You want me to listen to your giana
give me more like this? Well, I mean, this is
what we do with TV and TV shows and movies anyway,
why don't we do it with song?

Speaker 5 (06:35):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (06:35):
Give me as one like this? You know you remember
the one that goes uh field goal by the Packers
has turned into a thirty one thirty one game lines
getting the football back with about six minutes left to go.
Somebody calling Al Michael's a doctor. Yeah, I mean, Al,
this is I mean, you said you want a good games.
Now you're getting a good game. Now you're getting it now.

(06:57):
One thing we do know is that Kirk watch out
for him. Watch out Kirk make sure he's okay, especially
in four hours. We're coming up on three, right, So yeah,
now let me just say this. We'll have more football
coming up in a few minutes. The one Soto sweep
Steaks are hitting a fever pitch right now, right, And

(07:17):
we've talked about and look, Scott Boris wants to own
the attention, but the teams also want him to make
a decision. So we've heard in the last few days. Hey,
by the Winter Meetings, Juan Soto will have his home.

Speaker 3 (07:29):
How many people ask you about one getting getting one?

Speaker 1 (07:34):
So yes, we're getting one. So I have insider information
we're getting one soon.

Speaker 2 (07:38):
You know that.

Speaker 3 (07:38):
Gambler and they got in trouble for claiming he had
some he ain't like me.

Speaker 1 (07:42):
I get so we're getting one soon. Let's go And
but I assume what's gonna happen is this, because then
I'm gonna tell you where he's gonna go. H With
the Winter Meetings set to begin on Sunday, he will
have not just one Soto, but he will have a
couple of his guys signed next week. Right Because Scott
bors Hey, I understand that I'm a spotlight kind of guy,

(08:03):
but the teams. They want my guys to make their
decisions or they'll let him sit out there till the
end of spring training. They sent him a message with
that last year. So we're not gonna get it tomorrow.
It will be some time between Sunday and Thursday. Where's
he gonna go? And this is not me just saying
it because it's the Mets. But the Mets are gonna
get won soda. The teams that are in it the Mets,

(08:26):
the Yankees, the Red Sox, and you always want to
say the Dodgers are in it, but the Dodger Blue Jays.
I mean you to be to go to the Blue
Jays though. I mean, look, he wants to win, he
wants all these different things with the team, and I'm
not doubting that these offers are going to be really good,
you know. But I can knock some teams out. I
can knock the Blue Jays out. I can't see him.

(08:47):
I can't see him saying this is where I look.
They were in it for Otani last year. That drove
up the price. That's not gonna happen. He's not gonna
go to the Dodgers because he doesn't want to be
on the West Coast, right, So that's that's the whole thing.
He wanted to get away. He wants to be closer
to the Dominican Republic and the West Coast is too far.
Like that's been a thing. So the Dodgs are in
it just to drive it up for everybody else. But
here's the thing about the three teams left. The Yankees

(09:11):
are only in it as like they're like the parents.
They're trying to monitor the kid's ballpit to make sure
everything is okay. The Yankees aren't really in it for
Wan Soto because if they wanted to be in it
for Juan Soto, they would have signed him already. He
would be a Yankee. They would find a way to say,
we're not letting you go. Here's six hundred million dollars,
you're a Yankee. They want to keep them away from
the Mets in the Red Sox, obviously, because this is

(09:33):
the worst nightmare for them. I told you that's the
worst nightmare to have him go across town to the Mets.
But if Steve Cohen's as we've heard, if he is
saying I'm going to go fifty million dollars over whatever,
and we're built to win every year. We give you
everything you want in a franchise. Now the Mets are safe,
they have great ownership, front office, managerial. That's what you want.
That's why the Mets have become an incredible destination. They

(09:55):
flip the narrative on their franchise because when you figure
out the top three positions on it, and that's owner,
GM coach or GM ish, Yeah, guess what people are
gonna want to go there. So the Yankees is only
so much they can do for the Mets. But if
the Red Sox are gonna get him, no way, they're
not gonna want They're not gonna play him fifteen times
a year and watch him knocking the crap out of

(10:17):
the ball and having Yankee fans get really mad. It's
one thing to have him go to the Mets, when
really there's only so much you can do because if
you're not gonna go over Steve, Steve Cohen's gonna outpit everybody.
But if the Red Sox wind up getting into the
lead for him, then the Yankees will get involved to say, okay,
then we'll find the money to sign him because we're
not gonna let him go there. So I don't know
that the Yankees are in it because they could have

(10:37):
had him, and I think they're just trying to make
sure to keep him away from the Red Sox. When
it's all said and done, who else is gonna give
him what he wants. He wants to be able to win.
He wants a big market, he wants money, and the
Mets are gonna give him all of that. They're gonna
give him everything.

Speaker 3 (10:51):
Yeah, But the short term, in terms of the signing process,
it's like when all those guys are doing those dopey
tours years ago, all the NBA guys, right, Lebron, Carmelo
and every everybody wants to feel wanted.

Speaker 1 (11:03):
But once their free agency tour, you.

Speaker 3 (11:05):
Know, to hear what the announcer is gonna sound like
when he introduces me here, I am photoshot. Not that
you don't do that everywhere. As soon as the guy
indicates he may not be happy. His sources say all
of that. But you know you want you want a
little bit of the Hey, you're the bell of the ball, right,
You're the one that everybody's looking at. And Boris already
has got Blake Snell in a Dodger uniform yeah, right,

(11:27):
they already that's the most unlikely thing to happen. Wait,
you want to pass what you've seen, what he does
and multi year deals, right, Okay, we'll sign that.

Speaker 1 (11:38):
Let's let's take care of it. So you have that
kind of situation. But for for.

Speaker 3 (11:42):
Want Soto going forward, yeah, you go through this process
and the Yankees could have every intention of signing him,
but you have no idea what that mystery number is
plus fifty.

Speaker 1 (11:53):
If they plus you wouldn't hear Aaron Judge say, I
haven't texted him since you know, the end of the season.
I haven't talked to him. Ahead. This isn't college recruiting. Yeah,
until you want to go This is how it works, man,
this is how it works. You want to guy, your
stars call and they you said, guys want to be wanted.
And this has not been the Yankees going crazy.

Speaker 3 (12:11):
But that's dollars cents and that's the front office, Aaron
Judge calling him.

Speaker 1 (12:16):
Yankees are only in it to keep them away from
the Red Sox. That's the only look. I just keep saying,
opportunity costs. Give me a couple of starters and I
can go find some serviceable outfielders. To get me to
base x as opposed to giving this guy six hundred
million dosh the Mets are gonna get Yeah, make me
the money. Mets are gonna get.

Speaker 3 (12:31):
Him, even if Boris tells me that concessions and parking
and everything else, all those increases are base Here's how
you parse out to one.

Speaker 1 (12:39):
Soda sign one soda. You're gonna get your fans just
sending you twenty dollars a week for no reason. That's
gonna happen. It's gonna He's gonna pay for him.

Speaker 3 (12:46):
So are they gonna do an infoertial at three o'clock
in the in the morning on a Sunday ahead of
uh the guy that sells me the Blessed water or whatever.

Speaker 1 (12:55):
Exit out bout of Fresco exit swallowing down the Jason
Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harved. Yeah, get
that Mets jersey Ready for watch? That's right, pop off,
Get ready for an incredible final two minutes. Here on
Thursday Night Football, we are at the two minute warning.
Jamiir Gibbs has just caught a pass for a first
down on third and seven. The Lions are in Packers

(13:16):
territory looking for the field goal or touchdown that could
give them the win over the Packers. We'll have more
on this, plus another big story out of college football
when it gets to the weekend and conference championship Saturday.
All that more coming up next. Right here, I feel
like we're just getting started. Jason Smith, Mike Harmon. This
is Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (13:38):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (13:50):
Really couldn't get through the fire in flames, Really couldn't
get dragon for it. Still trying to get through it.
Couldn't coodn't replicate it.

Speaker 5 (13:58):
I tried.

Speaker 1 (14:03):
On a doc Deathn't it. Jason Smith Mike Harmon, Live
from the Tirack dot Com studios. Where do we sit
right now? We are campbelling the Lions and the Packers
tied at thirty one a piece. The Lions have the football,
as we said, a big first down by Jamir Gibbs
gets them into field goal range. However, a penalty pushed

(14:25):
the Lions back out of field goal range. And was
listening to how Michael's called he seems very like look,
we want this game to be over now, come on,
we gotta finish this game here. Then a big pass
to Aman Ross Saint Brown, where it turns into a
fourth and inches because he gets tackled just short of
the first down. Dan Campbell lets the clock tick all

(14:45):
the way down to forty three seconds. It is fourth
and inches. Jared Goff is still on the field as
the Lions are trying to figure out what they want
to do do They want to try to kick a
field goal here and then hope their defense can keep
Jordan Loving the Packers out of the end zone. Or
is it gonna be We're going for it on fourth
in inches and we're gonna try to get a first down,

(15:07):
then bleed the clock down to nothing and win on
the final kick. I got a feeling I know which
way Dan Campbell is leaning because of what he likes
to do. But they have the time out to talk
about it.

Speaker 3 (15:15):
Third and short, they go to Montgomery. He gets tripped up.
Surprise the backfield.

Speaker 1 (15:20):
Surprise. Surprise. No, not Jamir. Get you're trying to sell
me like he's Superman. He's good. The greatest thing in
the world is Jamiir gives if you're not. You don't
have to kiss their asses. Jamiir Gives is the most
talented running back in the NFL. He's over David. I'll
give you that. He's the most dangerous running back in
the NFL. But no, no, no, we're not gonna We're

(15:41):
not gonna give him the ball. We're not. Let's keep
putting David Montgomery out there. We'll take that bull butt
him out there.

Speaker 3 (15:45):
But I'm on Ross Saint Brown on the pass completion
that might have been the greatest chuck ever downfield. It's
like offensive pass interference. We can call it right, we can.
He seemed to like calling the pick plays on teams
against Detroit can go the other way too.

Speaker 1 (16:04):
The Lions decide to go for it on fourth and
inches seven, got the ball in motion. They hand the
ball to Billy Simms. Billy Simms at sixty three years
David Montgomery on fourth down takes it over the right
side for a first down. It is first and ten

(16:24):
for the Lions, twenty five seconds left to go. Jared
Goff has come off the field. I would assume it's
going to be a kneal and then a field goal.
On the final play, Jared Goff actually slipped and fell
handing the ball off to Montgomery. He was on his
left knee when he gave the ball to him. This
play had disaster written all over. It looks like he

(16:46):
trips over Ragno's leg and he falls down, but on
his left knee is still able to get the ball
to Montgomery, who gets over the right side gets the
first down by a couple of yards, wasn't It's like
he gained about three and a half yards on the play.
So now it looks like what the Lions will do
is take the clock all the way down, kick a

(17:07):
field goal in the final play of the game. Who
falling down? Man fourth and one? Fourth and one?

Speaker 3 (17:14):
Michael Douglas was better in falling down, but hey, that's
at least a game winning opportunity off of Jared Goff
tripping over his offensive lineman's feet.

Speaker 1 (17:26):
So I don't know why the clock is stopped. There's
twenty five seconds left, twenty eight seconds left on the clock.
Golf has come off the field, and the clock's gonna
keep ticking, So I don't know why they stopped the clock.
It's still two timeouts left for the Lions. So the
Lions are going to run some kind of play here

(17:47):
and then call their time out, most likely with like
three seconds left, and then try to kick the game
winning field goal. So Golf bait and green Bay all
time out, but Golf left the field. Don't know why
Golf would have left the field. I think like if
green Bay call time out, Golf would have stayed on
the fields. But he was going off the field giving
high five to everybody. Yeah, I'm I'm just theorizing. I
have no idea. It made no sense.

Speaker 3 (18:08):
I mean, we got the first it seemed like, all right,
bleed it down to three and then you know, move
to whatever hashmark you want and away we go.

Speaker 1 (18:17):
So Golf nil's on the football. The clock is ticking down.
I assume with three seconds left, we'll get a time out,
unless that's what Dan Campbell thinks the Packers are expecting
them to do. No, I mean, this isn't the Bears.
We're gonna We're gonna let it go down and go
to overtime. They're not expecting that. So two seconds left,
time out on the field, it's gonna be a short
field goal for the Lions to try to win this game.

(18:37):
Thirty four to thirty one as we are still tied
up thirty one a piece.

Speaker 3 (18:41):
Remember spread either three or three and a half, depending
on where you got in the over long in the
rear view mirror. You've been taking doing snow angels in
your winnings. The over but look sixty two points on
a Thursday night football game.

Speaker 1 (18:56):
I told you, yeah, we'll take the I told you
it was gonna be that celebration. Look, I told you
it was gonna be a great game. It was gonna
be a lot of offense, it was gonna be the over.
The Lions were gonna win, and it's gonna be the
most the highest rated Thursday night football game of the year.
That's that's what's Then everything that I said is gonna
wind up coming true. And who knew Dan Campbell would
have the biggest sack of the night. Oh that's a

(19:17):
drop the Mike moment, frostper Well, listen, when you go
for it on fourth down like eleven times, you're gonna
make it at some point and it's gonna be a
big thing for you. The odds do say that field
goal is up for the Lions. Moncey Belanios is gonna
tell us what happened? With what's trending right now in
the wide world of sports. Are we headed to overtime?

(19:38):
Did the Lions win? Moncey, I'm setting you up. Have
they won?

Speaker 2 (19:42):
Walked it off with a field goal.

Speaker 6 (19:44):
They're eleventh straight win, the first time in franchise history
that the Lions have done this. Thirty four to thirty
one was the final score. As you predicted, this is
the longest streak in team history. They've clinched a playoff
berth Go Detroit Lions. They are now twelve and one
for the season.

Speaker 2 (20:02):
But I agree with you, guys.

Speaker 6 (20:03):
An exciting game, high scoring except for Jaden Reid that
I tell you that Jaden Reid had zero targets for
zero catches, for zero yards, for zero everything.

Speaker 1 (20:10):
Yeah, but aren't you in a league where if your
receiver gets absolute zeros across the board, you get like
thirty points. I wish, I wish.

Speaker 6 (20:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (20:18):
I think the initials jr.

Speaker 6 (20:19):
Were just for jogging and running today, which I wish
I would know. At least I got that, guys, at
least I got that.

Speaker 1 (20:27):
Because I'm not happy about it. Ben Simms actually caught
a pass for the Packers.

Speaker 6 (20:32):
I mean, I mean, really though, I think, I think
last I saw it.

Speaker 1 (20:35):
Actually, let's check, let's just.

Speaker 6 (20:37):
No one target one target zero.

Speaker 1 (20:39):
Zero zero zero zero cross.

Speaker 2 (20:40):
Thank you, Jayden read Jared Goff, how did he do?

Speaker 6 (20:44):
Thirty two to forty one, two hundred and eighty three yards,
three touchdowns, one interception.

Speaker 1 (20:48):
We did have a.

Speaker 6 (20:49):
Hat trick on the Green Bay side from Josh Jacobs
who had eighteen carries, sixty six yards and three touchdowns
in a losing effort. Again, Detroit Lions walking off with
the field goal to eat the Green Bay Packers thirty
four to thirty one. And Thursday Night Football, which kicks
off Week fourteen of the NFL. Other NFL news, Cowboys
guard Zach Martin is gonna miss arrest the season because

(21:10):
his injured ankle requires surgery. Former Patriots head coach Bill
Belichick interviewed for the head coaching vacancy at the University
of North Carolina. According to Inside Carolina, one game going
on right now in the NBA, the Warriors are beating
the Rockets sixty one forty eight with seven minutes to
go in the third quarter. We had a bunch of
NBA going on earlier today. Like the Calves, they keep
winning they actually defeated. The Nuggets won twenty six to

(21:32):
one fourteen, and the MAVs took down the Wizards, win
thirty seven to one oh one behind a triple double
from Luka Doncic. In college hoops, Penn State within eighty
one to seventy upseate upset. Excuse me over number eight
per due in the NHL. There's two games still going
on in the NHL. The Blues and the Flames are
tied at three apiece with seven minutes to go in
the third period. The Oilers are on top of the

(21:54):
Blue Jackets five to three, also seven minutes to go
in the third period. In baseball news, yes, sever Renos
signed with the A's three year deal sixty seven million.
Freddy Freeman underwent surgery on his right ankle. He's expected
to be ready to go for spring training. And lastly
here ESPN has that the Las Vegas Stadium Authority approved
the least non relocation development documents Thursday for the A's

(22:17):
to actually construct that one point seventy five billion dollars
stadium on the Strip. They're gonna start breaking ground springtime,
hoping to have an opening for twenty twenty eight twenty.

Speaker 1 (22:30):
Twenty eight, twenty twenty, Yeah, Louis Severino's entire career is
not gonna be in Sacramento. A will be in Sacramento.
How about that? Yeah, twenty twenty eight, in twenty two,
we'll see if it's twenty twenty. Yeah, that's what they're hoping.
That's what they're hoping. That's gonna make travel to Vegas
so much fun?

Speaker 4 (22:45):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (22:46):
Who you telling that's gonna make walking on the strip
so much fun? Why would write like it's supposed to
be right on the strip? It sounds crazy? Yeah, good luck,
I know what do it? Why? Well, look there's enough
money in Vegas. What they might do is just put
it like like you know the space needle in Seattle,
Like just build it straight up, build it out like
you know, like three hundred feet above the city and

(23:06):
that way all the construction's going on in the air. Well,
you just out.

Speaker 3 (23:09):
So I have to make sure that do you have
a lot of opportunities to put like a bubble around
it so you don't have a bod Flanders situation.

Speaker 1 (23:16):
Oh that is a very important, very important.

Speaker 2 (23:18):
I don't want any of that very much.

Speaker 1 (23:21):
Don't touch my Las Vegas. Strip already, people are gonna say,
I don't even want to go to Vegas. It's so
crazy anyway, and now you can't even get around. They're
building a baseball stadium. I don't even want to go.
It's gonna be three years of building a stadium. Three years.
People are gonna go to Reno Mann quick.

Speaker 3 (23:38):
Man, opportunity knots for all of those properties off the strip.

Speaker 1 (23:42):
Man, I'm just gonna go. It's gonna go right across
State line and gamble the first place I come to.
Man not gonna do that. I'm heading out to prim
So the Lions win it over the Packers thirty four
to thirty one. A big night for Jared Goff, three touchdowns,
two eighty three through the air, Jordan Love and the
Packers have a nice night. Not quite the night you'd

(24:03):
expect from Jordan Love, just twelve out of twenty for
two hundred yards of a touchdown. Josh Jacobs did have
three scores on the ground, but overall, not a lot
of offense. Not enough offense for the Packers tonight. Need
to be a little more dynamic and the Lions, despite
the fact they go for it on fourth down seventeen
or eighteen times in the game. They make it when
they have to, and they come away with a thirty

(24:25):
four to thirty one when they have clinched a playoff
birth they are twelve and one, best record in the NFL,
best record in the NFC, and they are rolling towards
the playoffs falling down.

Speaker 3 (24:38):
That's how easy it is at times for these Detroit Lions.
These are not your Detroit Lions.

Speaker 1 (24:44):
They're not your older brothers. Detroit Lions there, they are
your new world. They are your grandfather, your great grand
When did Bobby Lane play? Bobby Lane was in the fifties.
This is your great grandfather's Detroit Lions now here. They
are joining us now on the hot line no Better
NFL on Fox Insider Extraordinary. You can follow him on

(25:04):
Twitter at Jay Glazer. It is Jay Glazer. What's happening, buddy?
How are you?

Speaker 4 (25:09):
Ja? Man? Man. I'm so happy for Detroit, but I'm
also happy for the fans of Green Bay. Go oh man.
They're they're what Matt.

Speaker 5 (25:19):
Lafore, He's a grunt, He's a grinder.

Speaker 4 (25:21):
He's the same type of dude who's Dan Campbell. And
that's what you're gonna want to he's uh, you know,
he's got a seen North battles, like, man, what a game.

Speaker 1 (25:31):
You know. I look at this Jay and we see
everything that the lines have done the last couple of years,
and it just you know, he gambled.

Speaker 5 (25:38):
He here's here's the biggest here's the biggest thing he did.

Speaker 4 (25:41):
Good, right, that's talks about culture. The biggest thing he
did was higher Chris Spieldman, our former, you know, my
our co host on on our draft.

Speaker 5 (25:55):
Him Chris Fieldman to.

Speaker 4 (25:59):
Lead and this is he's now between like ownership and
coach and GM. But to build a culture of that
kind of guy, like you want your culture to be,
Chris Fielman. You don't want it to be the losing
stuff you've had all these years. Whatever it has been,
we've gotten it wrong. So let's get a grunt like

(26:21):
Chris Filman and go, man, this is what we want.
So Chris had obviously hiring in Dan Tambell and Brett
Hopkins and but also like man, I tell you guys
like Sean Payton when he went down New Orleans, he
had to teach mister you know, mister Benson had to

(26:41):
be an owner. I think Chris Filman is the MVP
that nobody talks about. But he's the MVP of this
this franchise.

Speaker 1 (26:50):
Woo wow. I was ready to throw Dan Campbell at
you gave me Chris Fielman.

Speaker 4 (26:54):
Yeah, but like listen, but but Chris is.

Speaker 5 (26:58):
Like, hey, I need a I like me, dans like him.

Speaker 4 (27:06):
I think the right dands like him. Like by the way,
I was like I was part of it, like I.

Speaker 5 (27:13):
You know lean it.

Speaker 4 (27:15):
You know, we talk about tangents and all that stuff,
and I know, like so like he wanted the type
of dude who is going to kind of be like him.
That's what you want. You want to send a guy,
let's listen. Also the thinking about Dan Schapel and Matt Before.
I've told the two of the both these guys this
behind closed doors. I've said, you know, man, in a

(27:36):
world where nothing's authentic anymore, and we see bots on
Twitter or whatever, right or like fill through highlights. These
young men, man, they want authentic me now more than
ever before. And they don't want to get beaten down.
They want like, hey, if you get on them, because

(27:59):
you love them. And there's just so much hate and
so much all this other stuff in social media. So
a guy like Dan Campbell, guy like Mac Lafloor. They're
gonna work way more than the old school coaches work.
And the old school guys are like, man, they just
got on you and beat it. And I think I
told you like guys, I had to change mind. Put

(28:21):
some file of Randy Gature is like, hey, dude, you
can't tell these young guys anymore what you don't want,
only tell them what you want. You got, Like everyone's
so beaten down in life. You only got to build
people up. So that's what Dan Campbell and Matt Laflora.

Speaker 1 (28:41):
Yeah, it's curiosity, but Chris Billman.

Speaker 4 (28:44):
But it's Chris Billman who led the charge and like
and credit like listen.

Speaker 5 (28:49):
To the owner.

Speaker 4 (28:51):
They didn't know what they didn't know. I'm I'm serious.
When Chris took the job, I'm like, bro, got no
idea what you're getting yourself. But he changed the culture
without anybody knowing. He changed the culture. And that's a
g for a guy who doesn't want Like most people
when they they do great stuff, like they want to

(29:15):
make sure when they do say anything, they want a pr.

Speaker 5 (29:18):
They want people to know this dude, no one knows.

Speaker 4 (29:22):
I'm saying it because I understand the inside how much
of a difference Chris.

Speaker 3 (29:27):
Billin's and Jay the thing that you know, which these
does not look like the other the you know, miscast
or or thrown away Jared Goff ten for ten in
the fourth quarter, doesn't look like you'd fit in, you know,
in the way you describe it, or at least historically,
but seems to be the right quarterback for everything they're
leading there.

Speaker 1 (29:46):
Of course.

Speaker 4 (29:46):
Yeah, And I think Aaron Glen talking recently, he's like, hey,
our defense there are a bunch of savages. Are like, Aaron,
you're you're talking my language. Savages, you're talking my language.
He's it went up with us that we're savages, and like,
that's what I want to hear. You're a bunch of savages.

Speaker 1 (30:04):
Yes, now, Jay, you know, I know you had a
very big week this week, your Unbreakable podcast maybe the
most difficult guest you've ever booked. I mean, the lengths

Speaker 4 (30:28):
You know, guys, my second time I've had my wife
on it's her birthday, and how have you I'm fifty three.
I'm not gonna say with her ages, but like all
these people who like, how do you like found glove?

jotted down like twenty things that can give other people,

(30:53):
like hope, outify love late.

Speaker 5 (30:56):

funny too.

real talk. I think it's a lonelier.

Speaker 5 (31:25):
World than we've ever had men and women and they've all.

Speaker 4 (31:29):
Been like, hey have you done it? Like man, just
trying to teach people the authenticity and how to lean
into each other. I would never have Rosie if I didn't.

Speaker 5 (31:40):
Learn some of these lessons that we talked about them.

Speaker 4 (31:42):
I'm break a podcasts about how to lean into each
other and how to be vulnerable and just had a
lot of stuff. So it's great, it's it's it's it's
gonna be a two part of work that we're calling

There you go, Fox Sports Radio The Jason Stuff Show
with Mike Carmon live from the tirag dot com studios.
So the Lions kick afield goal on the final play
of the game to beat the Packers thirty four to

(34:54):
thirty one. We got a big hot take about the
Lions coming up in about ten minutes, but a big
push going on on social media right now about one
of the big plays in the final two minutes of
this game. The Lions go for it on fourth down
and a little bit less in the yard with thirty
nine seconds left to go, And clearly you could kick
the field goal there and try to play defense for

(35:16):
thirty ish seconds, but the Lion's, hey, we're gonna roll
the dice and go for it. And Jared Goff trips
over one of his offensive lineman's feet and his knee
is on the ground as he hands the ball to
David Montgomery. Montgomery crashes over the right side, gets the
first down. There is a big push for how is
Jared Goff not down? His knee is on the ground
behind the line of scrivage. Okay, you're allowed to hand

(35:40):
the ball up. How did the NFL miss this? And look,
I'm on the NFL Operations rule Book manual right now
and just to read off off of it for you,
a quarterback or the Chiefs with every orderback needs to
drop to a knee with no desire to advances the play,

(36:01):
or simulate dropping to a knee with no desire to
advance the play. Give the Chiefs the first down. The
Chiefs are at the bottom. There's always in a dendum
for the Chiefs after all the rules, like they give
you all the rules and then say he's already prepping
for Sunday night. They always says when the Chiefs are involved,
just whatever it does to give them an advantage. So
Jared Goff needs to the quarterback needs to not try

(36:23):
to advance the play. Obviously needs to be touched by
another player, and clearly Jared Goff was trying to hand
the ball off to David Montgomery. The entire time. Now
somehow he is tripped by a defensive lineman for the Packers.
If he steps on one of the Packers lineman's feet
who gets over across the line of scrimmage and goes down,
then he's down or gets touched. Yeah, but he trips

(36:44):
over his lineman's foot. You can still hand the ball
off because it's about giving yourself up and not trying
to advance the play. It's the same philosophy of the
quarterback slide, a receiver giving himself up when he doesn't
when he doesn't try to get any more yards, he'll
go to a knee. I'm not trying to advance the play,
and Jared Goff was can always continue to try to
advance the play. I appreciate the saltiness of it. Folks.

Speaker 3 (37:06):
Uh, we've now turned down the Lions as a community.
You see how it happened. It was fun until it wasn't.
And now it's like a Lions are getting all the
calls because look at Jared Goff, he's down.

Speaker 1 (37:19):
How is this different than than when you kneel down
at the end of the the game? It is miles apart,
miles apart.

Speaker 3 (37:27):
He's spinning towards the running back diving towards the running
back to hand in the football. It's not let me
fool them. I'm not damn ma Reno because as you read,
I mean, you know, you might as well have a
picture of Dan Marino and they and the rule book there.
But yeah, it's it's the creativity of the online world

(37:48):
of let's hate on officiating, and now we hate on
the Lions because they're getting calls. Now, I thought you
were gonna tell me that it was Hey, people agreed
with me that I'm on Ross Saint Brown pushed.

Speaker 1 (37:59):
Off on that past a different play that is that
is a different play. This is much different. Yeah, he
gave himself up. No, not quite now, Frostburg. I am
at the bottom of the rule page after talks and
talks all about and it shows a picture of Patrick
Holmes and it says, hey, when it comes to the chiefs,
let Mahomes do what he wants, so that the bottom
of a fake copy of the book. Well, what do

(38:20):
you mean have a fake copy of the book, because
that would be at the top. Can't bury the lead man.
It's only one team, though you got it, did thirty
one other teams have to go by these rules, and
then they have the one for the Chiefs. Have you
ever watched a chief team? But what I'm saying is,
don't you think there's a separate rule book given out
for a Chiefs game? Oh? Oh, here's the NFL rule book. No,
this is a rule book for the Chiefs game, and
it's entirely different rule book. At what point in the

(38:42):
book does it say that they have to make out
the third and fourth quarter? There's there's no you're talking
about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelcey, there's no. There's no
place for that in here. Although Taylor Swift's picture is
on the cover of the rule book or picture is
more units. Yeah, it's one of those moves Harry Potter
things where she's yelling, let sef and go kind of thing, going, Yeah,

(39:05):
that's what it was. Yeah, there you go. Can we
get a live look in on your booth this week? Prosper?
Is there any way we can get a closed circuit
TV in there? You want to sponsor to the barbecue? Sure,
all right, Mike Harmon's barbecue, Hey, brought to you by
Mike Harmon. There you go. Okay, you just got to
make some food for for Frostburg and all the on
air guys for money, Smith and Daniel Jeremia. You got

(39:27):
to Big Houses Barbecue Barbecue. There you play Sucks Exit
out of Fresco Exit Swollen Dome. The Jason Smith Show
with Mike Carmon Live from the tirag dot com Studios,
coming up next. It worked out for the Lions. They gambled,
they won their going to the playoffs. How about a

(39:49):
hot take that you don't see coming. It's next right here,
