Speaker 3 (00:50):
Well.
Speaker 1 (00:50):
To begin this hour, once again, all our best thoughts
to everybody fighting the big wildfire and Pacific Palisades that
has now spread here where Mike and I live. You
can see the smoke in the air, you can smell it.
People have lost their homes. It's it's it's destroyed over
three thousand acres. When you start to when I start
(01:10):
to see all the neighborhoods are surrounding La trending Brentwood
and Santa Monica and just how how close uh this
fire is is it continues to get inland and not
blowing out to see there is another second fire that
has also started just outside of La Uh.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
I don't know. I don't know how this goes. I
don't know how this ends. But all are all.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
Your best thoughts, all your best prayers to the firemen
and people continuing to fight this fire and people trying
to evacuate, to get out of the areas that are
that are in danger. You see some of the videos
on social media and it's just mind blow It looks
like Mustaphar, you know, with your fire just to sitting
in random places on a hillside everywhere and and you know,
(01:58):
you know I say it, but really the wind is
what is either your friend in a situation like this
or it's really bad because you know, the winds in
the past have have tended to do. You know, when
wildfires like this happen, they get gets blown out to
sea and okay, it's you know, then there's still devastation,
but they're able to control it after a certain amount
of time. That hasn't happened so far, and the fact
(02:21):
that it keeps getting closer in and like I can't
remember in twenty years, you know, wildfires continuing to get
this far inland after they've started. It's incredibly windy. Do
you see some of the videos out there on social
media the wind just blowing everything around. It was windy
all day to day. That certainly does not help because
it is the windy season here in La So as
(02:43):
we go on here and do our business of sports,
all our thoughts, all our prayers, everyone fighting and dealing
with the wildfires that that are just happening outside our windows.
Speaker 4 (02:52):
Yeah, earlier today out just walking the dog.
Speaker 5 (02:54):
I mean, you're avoiding getting hit by the palm fronds
that were falling off. The winds just starting to really
pick up at that point. But something that's really just
taking this to the next level, the sobering thought. And
obviously wherever you're listening, however you're listening, we appreciate you
being part of the family. The call goes out, you know,
(03:15):
as it eventually this all needs to be rebuilt, restored,
and all those numbers will go out, so look into
your hearts and wallets and all that stuff.
Speaker 4 (03:24):
But they put out a.
Speaker 5 (03:26):
General notice to anybody who's an active firefighter, recently retired,
physically capable of performing duties of a fire person to
call into a central number.
Speaker 4 (03:40):
To talk about their availability.
Speaker 5 (03:42):
That's how quickly this has spread and how overtaken some
of these small cities are here in southern California.
Speaker 1 (03:50):
So again, the Palisades fire has now become different fires.
And again all our thoughts and prayers, I keep wanting
to shout out Steve Guttenberg, who been acting in Hollywood
now for the better part of forty years, Police Academy Cocoon,
and and he he took it upon himself to move
people's cars so so emergency vehicles could get down the
(04:13):
roads and get to people and get to people who
are trapped. And his interviews are just amazing. What did
you tell me? He said, Hey, if you're to leave,
leave your keys in the car.
Speaker 3 (04:20):
So like it.
Speaker 4 (04:21):
Well that's the thing.
Speaker 5 (04:22):
Folks were kind of mocking it initially, but it's like, no, no, no, literally,
he and some of his people in that neighborhood had decided,
you know what, we'll stick around and help the firefighters
and responders by getting these cars off the road.
Speaker 4 (04:37):
Because otherwise you could find video of this.
Speaker 5 (04:40):
They brought a bulldozer in to smash the hell out
of those things. So yeah, Gudenberg was absolutely right and
doing the great thing. And he puts up messages and
positivity and he's you know, he's just a guy that
is just known as one of the nice guys in Hollywood,
and then here he is on the local newscast. Anybody
that would would give him thirty seconds, that was his plea.
(05:02):
If you're gonna abandon it because you need to get
out of here fast, please leave the keys in the
car so we can do the right thing and give
these people a path to help fight this thing, because
you see how quickly it escalated. I mean it's nine
o'clock here Pacific time, and just over several hours. I
mean we're talking about thirty thousand evacuations and city to
(05:22):
city the way the wind is blowing, and we haven't
even gotten the worst of the winds projected for tonight.
But Gutenberg, you know, his name popping up. And yes,
folks will may make their police academy and other references,
but a guy truly trying to do some humanitarian and
helpful things for his neighbors.
Speaker 1 (05:40):
Great stuff, and we'll continue to monitor the story, of
course and bring you any updates going on. Again, all
your thoughts, all your thoughts and prayers to everybody dealing
with this wildfire. But look our business here at sports
and our businesses to take your mind off of things
like this and talk about stuff like Man, I can't
believe Chris Career and Mike Daniel still have jobs after today.
(06:01):
But just really quick on the conversation we had a
few minutes ago before you get to do it more
from the NFL.
Speaker 4 (06:07):
How I wanted everybody fired, No, it's you know, you know.
Speaker 1 (06:11):
I talked about the mystery of how the Dolphins in
a year went from a team on the cusp that
anybody would love their roster to now they're a team
starting over. And we got our answer, right, Tyreek Hill
wants out for whatever reason, he's done, and we find
out at the end of the year press conference today,
Mike McDaniel says, yeah, guys relate to meetings all the time.
There wasn't any discipline. Wait what Nope, didn't have any
(06:31):
discipline on this team. And when they were asked, why
did you not have a better backup quarterback. They said,
we wanted to save money or we wanted to save
our compensatory picks, So we didn't want to spend a
lot of money on a backup quarterback, knowing full well
that Tua gets hurt all the time and he's.
Speaker 3 (06:48):
In and out of the lineup. No, no, no, no, we
don't need to have a swat. You know. I come
away from that, I go okay. Not only was my.
Speaker 1 (06:54):
Question answered about how the Dolphins went from a dangerous,
scary team to a team that.
Speaker 3 (07:00):
Now they could be starting over.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
I really I wonder how Chris Career and Mike McDaniel
have jobs after today.
Speaker 3 (07:06):
I mean, I'm glad.
Speaker 1 (07:07):
That they you know, they fell on the sword and
they said, look, this was our fault. But wow, what
do you mean you had discipline issues? Like that's not
outside of your control. That's something you specifically control as
a head coach and a general manager. I got displaces.
What do you want me to do? I'll address him
in the offseason. You gotta dress them when they're happening.
Speaker 3 (07:25):
Man.
Speaker 1 (07:26):
And then we wanted to go cheap, so we didn't
want to get a backup quarter don't you know. I mean,
how do you not know how miserable life is in
the NFL if you don't have a quarterback, just as
the Jets who lost Aaron Rodgers after four plays last
year and had to play Zach Willson. Ah, wait, we
don't want that. That happened in your division. You saw
that happen. Now we're good with Skyler Thompson. We don't
want all you want to keep compensitory picks. We're the
(07:47):
smartest guys in the room. Well, all you did was
caught yourself a playoff spot because all you do was
a better quarterback, a better backup quarterback, and you would
have won at least one of those games that you lost.
And guess what, you're in the playoffs and you're in there.
I really after today, I go, well.
Speaker 3 (08:01):
This should be more openings.
Speaker 1 (08:02):
I don't know how Chris Career and Mike McDaniel have
jobs in Miami after today.
Speaker 3 (08:07):
It baffles me.
Speaker 5 (08:08):
Well, what's still funny is the Jets had two more
wins last year with Zach Wilson.
Speaker 3 (08:12):
Yeah, the Jets.
Speaker 1 (08:13):
Look, the Jets have more problems, and that this was
just a way for a Jets problem to illustrate.
Speaker 3 (08:17):
Don't let this happen Okay, I.
Speaker 5 (08:18):
Just wanted to make sure I could come in with
my I don't know, Harley Quinn sized mallet.
Speaker 4 (08:24):
Yeah, and whack you upside that.
Speaker 3 (08:26):
Don't let this happened to you. Yeah no, no, that's
what this is.
Speaker 4 (08:29):
So that's it.
Speaker 5 (08:30):
But the Flores comments, and I'm sorry the Greer comments
into the McDaniel comments are things that just leave you
shaking your head. Like the McDaniel part of things, because
he was dubbed the boy Wonder, right, he took over
that mantle from McVeigh and from Shanahan and all those guys.
Speaker 4 (08:50):
He was the new innovator.
Speaker 5 (08:52):
And Tua had played last year, right, he got through
the season and what did we say all off season?
You can't bank on that happening again. Right now, that
is the outlier for his career. And I hope that
all the cool jiu jitsu moves and anything he made
that was going to help him be a better defender
of his body, mind and soul was going to work.
Speaker 4 (09:13):
But I'm also a realist.
Speaker 5 (09:15):
You get hit a lot in the National Football League,
you know, because in addition to not spending money on
the quarterback, really didn't do a lot for their offensive
line either, so that meant he was going to be
under duress. All of it spirals together bad discipline, and
then you have Tyreek Hill raising his hand on what.
Speaker 4 (09:33):
Am I doing here? Why am I wasting the best
years of my life? Now?
Speaker 5 (09:36):
He's a malcontent and a guy with a long history.
Folks can hit the Wikipedia as they need to, but
his talent when he is at his best undeniable.
Speaker 4 (09:47):
But he just said the quiet part out loud.
Speaker 5 (09:50):
And then Greer and McDaniels said, well, you know what,
let's own this. So to their credit, they were dumb
getting in front of microphones and giving us exactly the
fewel behind to to amplify, uh what Hill had said,
you know.
Speaker 1 (10:06):
And and when I say, I don't know how they
have jobs because this is like an unforgivable this is
where I f I'm fine, Wait a minute, we had
discipline issues all year and you couldn't fix them. But
why would you bring like, yeah, why why was that public?
Glad that they were transparent? Right, I'm always glad at transparency,
but oh my goodness, like, how do you like, how
(10:26):
do you how do you go on and say, yeah,
we met these were self inflicted wounds right. That that's
the stuff in the NFL that you can't get past.
If guys get hurt, guys get hurt. Right if if
if a free agent doesn't go right and you signed
him you thought he would come into a big position.
It really it happens. But these are things that are
under your control. This is this is discipline and and
(10:48):
and roster obtainment like this is this is the off
season stuff.
Speaker 5 (10:51):
This is on you.
Speaker 1 (10:52):
This is stuff that's under your direct purview as a
general manager and a edgar.
Speaker 5 (10:55):
But look at what they're saying as a how do
we turn this around? Well, we didn't have any discipline
this year, and we let guys do what they want.
As soon as we do that again, we're gonna be great.
Speaker 1 (11:04):
See wait we did, wait till we do that, because
that works in houses where you where you let kids,
there's no discipline, and then see how it goes if
you try to say, okay, now we're gonna be more disciplined.
Speaker 3 (11:13):
Wait really seriously, yeah whatever, Let me know a good one, dad,
I'll see you later.
Speaker 1 (11:18):
I'm taking the car. I'm going to the corner to
buy some cigarettes. I'll be back.
Speaker 3 (11:21):
No no, no, no, no, no, yeah, now you're funny, Dad.
I love you.
Speaker 1 (11:23):
I'll see you later. All right, let's see you. I'm gonna,
I'm gonna. I might be back late, like after two.
But it's cool. It's all good. I'll make sure I
don't smoke.
Speaker 3 (11:31):
In the car. It's all good. Man Dory nororry Dad.
I love your dad. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (11:34):
Disciplinarian, disciplined dad, Yeah, disilin dad.
Speaker 3 (11:38):
See you later. Yeah, how's that gonna work?
Speaker 5 (11:40):
Not good for anybody involved, and certainly in a division
where you have one team of stability, you've got three
train wrecks all trying to see, you know, who's actually
got the worst thing going and sitting around going it's
trying to win the final brownie in this in the
age that's seen in notting Hill, with the most pathetic
(12:04):
story he can come up with, like, yeah, well here's
our season.
Speaker 4 (12:07):
We had no discipline like that.
Speaker 3 (12:11):
You know.
Speaker 1 (12:11):
The only reaction to this that is even somewhat passable
like how do they have jobs?
Speaker 3 (12:19):
Right?
Speaker 1 (12:19):
And you brought it up a little bit last hour
and he said, you know, how does Brian Dabel have
a job.
Speaker 3 (12:24):
How does Shane Steiken still have a job?
Speaker 1 (12:26):
And you know, we got into it last hour that Hey,
there's not a lot of great openings this year, and
there's also not a lot of great candidates. So if
you're an NFL team going, hey, if you're the Giants
or the Colts, and you're like, hey, you know, we
really need a change, we really do, man, we need
to change, right, Okay, Shane Steiken has.
Speaker 3 (12:46):
Been eh, but we were eight and nine. Richardson was hurt.
Who are we bringing in that's better than him?
Speaker 1 (12:53):
And there's not a lot of guys, so okay, Shane
Styken gets keep his job. I mean, Brian Dable and
Joe Shane, like, these guys were they were terrible. But
who do you trust to come into New York and
set up a culture and say we're getting back to
the Giants winning ways.
Speaker 3 (13:08):
There's nobody out there.
Speaker 1 (13:09):
There's nobody, so hey, I'm bringing these guys back for
another year.
Speaker 3 (13:13):
All right.
Speaker 1 (13:13):
It's it's some of them are gonna get really lucky,
and a couple already have. And I think McDaniel might
wind up being a guy that gets lucky. That's just Hey,
there's nobody else out there that we know is better.
Speaker 3 (13:23):
Right.
Speaker 1 (13:23):
If there were guys out there that we knew we
were gonna get that were better, then yeah, you know what,
We'll fire our guy and go get somebody. But there's
not a lot of great candidates out there. There's not
a lot of guys who are sitting out for a
year and are coming back, or a lot of great
up and coming office corners. There's only one Ben Johnson
out there. So when the when, when the the the
guff is empty, you know, on on that? Uh, what
(13:47):
are you gonna do?
Speaker 3 (13:48):
All right? Well, boy, it's a really difficult decision. Do
we do we.
Speaker 1 (13:52):
Fire our guy? I don't really know about the guy
we're bringing in one more year? What maybe one and
you can convince your self that giving these these these
personnel one more year can work for you, and you
could talk yourself into it really really fast. Oh, I
think the next year we'll get our quarterback in. Everything
will be different for Brian Dable. We're outside of Daniel
Jones is gone and everything else. We're seasoned away from
(14:15):
from Saquon Barkley all with Greg. Right, Well, but we
convince ourselves really fast that the guys we have are
okay when the options are very very limited, because really,
I don't know if there weren't better guys out there, really,
I mean McDaniel and Greer both. Hey, thanks for your service, guys,
but boy, you guys have really mismataged us. We're going
to somebody else.
Speaker 5 (14:32):
You can always go back to the old philosophy of
do something even if it's wrong, because you know what
you've got and it's not getting you there. So how
do you rectify it? Do you run the same course?
Right the devil? You know the devil you don't h
McDaniel's shown aptitude and creativity in the past.
Speaker 4 (14:53):
Maybe this is the coaching version of.
Speaker 5 (14:56):
The quarterback that has They now have the tape on
you and they caught up to you that you now
have to go back into the lab and innovate.
Speaker 4 (15:04):
Uh, and I don't know, maybe get disciplined again.
Speaker 1 (15:09):
Exit al about a Fresco exit swollen down the Jason
Smith Show with.
Speaker 3 (15:12):
My best friend Mike Carmon.
Speaker 1 (15:14):
Uh, you didn't get my seventh sign reference I just
made there with Demi Moore.
Speaker 3 (15:18):
But that was what they did that.
Speaker 5 (15:19):
Yeah, I haven't seen that one in a long time now,
The substance seven Sign.
Speaker 3 (15:24):
I remember it being really really good. I remember it
being a really good movie.
Speaker 4 (15:27):
I have to go back and watch that one.
Speaker 3 (15:28):
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Uh.
Speaker 1 (15:30):
Jason Smith, Mic Carmon lot from the tire Rack dot
Com studio.
Speaker 3 (15:34):
Coming up next.
Speaker 1 (15:34):
Hey, we get back into a big story out of
the NFL. Because if you thought one team was gonna
maybe trade for a head coach, well that is out
the window. That's next right here, Jason and Mike Fox
Sports Radio. Hey, if you're overweight, you know it.

Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (16:41):
Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Harmon Live from the Tirerack dot Com Studios
and uh yeah, before we get back into the NFL,
Bigger's Alts. Tonight in the NBA, we watched Trey Young
hit a ridiculous this half court buzzer beater to beat
(17:02):
the Jazz.
Speaker 4 (17:02):
He yelled, next, you, I.
Speaker 3 (17:05):
Just closed my eyes and pretend I'm playing at MSG. Ah,
that's great. Thanks.
Speaker 1 (17:10):
So at least it's not just the Knicks that Trey
Young does this too. No, it's okay, I mean a
twenty twenty game. Come on now, yeah.
Speaker 4 (17:17):
Postgame quote right, Jason.
Speaker 3 (17:18):
Big No, what did you say in post game?
Speaker 4 (17:20):
I blocked out. I thought I was playing the next.
Speaker 3 (17:25):
You know what?
Speaker 1 (17:25):
The trade deadline? When Atlanta's always looking to trade Tray Young.
I think this year maybe the Knicks. Hey, we'll give
up five more first round picks. Now we're gonna stop.
Speaker 3 (17:35):
Stop, We're not doing that.
Speaker 1 (17:37):
Uh no, no, no, hey, hey, hey hey, big Modega
will be just fine.
Speaker 3 (17:41):
Okay, don't He'll be.
Speaker 4 (17:43):
Just Can you imagine the Big Modega's career in Atlanta.
I'mbout that he's a diminished asset now, oh with.
Speaker 1 (17:49):
Her stop, he's the MVP of the league right now.
He missed last night's game because his knee was sore.
Admittedly that doesn't sound great out of my mouth, but
he's okay, he's fun.
Speaker 4 (18:00):
Are you sure about that fun?
Speaker 3 (18:02):
Yes? If you know who he's better than the Lakers,
that's for sure.
Speaker 4 (18:06):
So you're saying he could beat the Lakers.
Speaker 3 (18:08):
Oh? Probably? Yet well, actually tonight they could.
Speaker 5 (18:10):
They rotate defensively like they were for chunks tonight.
Speaker 1 (18:15):
Talks about tonight. This is as embarrassing as a gay.
This is why whenever you hear they're any sort of
momentum behind the Lakers and how good they could be
and oh maybe JJ Reddick is figuring it out and
Lebron is playing so well in a d and the
latest lineup, the configuration is awesome and it's what they've
(18:37):
been waiting for all year long. They come up with
a night like tonight that makes you realize, Okay, the
Lakers are just one of many teams in the West, right.
They go in and they lose in Dallas one eighteen
to ninety seven. Okay, losing in Dallas, all right, Losing
by twenty not great. Losing by twenty to a Mavericks
team that was playing G league guys is really embarrassing.
Speaker 3 (18:58):
And I they'm not quite league guys.
Speaker 1 (19:00):
But no Kyrie, no Luka, Doncic, and you lost the
Mavericks by twenty three.
Speaker 4 (19:06):
Dirk didn't miss from three though.
Speaker 3 (19:08):
Dirk was terrific tonight.
Speaker 4 (19:09):
He was outsider.
Speaker 1 (19:11):
Rolando Blackman was great at Saw. You had five steals tonight.
He was terrific. I mean, it's it's embarrassing that a
Mavericks team that is just about a five hundred ish
team this year and now without their two best players,
including a top three player in the league, the Lakers
can't win.
Speaker 3 (19:26):
They can't win this game. And this is why anytime
you get.
Speaker 1 (19:30):
Excited about the Lake that I go back, all your
excitement needs to be watered down.
Speaker 3 (19:35):
Every bit of excitement is tepid. Everything only goes up
to a certain number of degrees.
Speaker 1 (19:39):
You don't get to Hey, it's we're burning hot the
Lakers one hundred and ten degrees.
Speaker 3 (19:43):
No, no, no, Lakers are at a nice sixty degree thing. Hey,
we're a little warm.
Speaker 1 (19:47):
Ah, we're gonna get a little chilly tonight lows down
in the forties. But okay, no, no, no, the Lakers are tippid.
They are that, they are lukewarm. They're a team that
will look really good for a couple of games, and
they have you convinced that things are awesome, and then
you get Knights like tonight, where you realize, oh wow,
how do you lose by twenty three to Dinwiddie and
(20:08):
Washington and seventy four year old Klay Thompson and Quinton
Grimes off the bench of a near triple.
Speaker 3 (20:13):
DA Grimey, how do you lose? Like? How do you
lose to this team?
Speaker 5 (20:16):
Hey? Quenton Rhymes was six and eleven? You know why
no clothes out in the corner. He just waved at
She said, come on, at least pretend to play defense
on it.
Speaker 3 (20:25):
I don't know how you lose this game.
Speaker 1 (20:27):
I lose this game this badly to this collection of players,
or Dallas is throwing guys out there honestly saying maybe
we're competitive. Who knows, le's it's another game. We're staying
afloat till the guys get back. Oh hey, oh we
happen to win, all right, that's awesome.
Speaker 3 (20:42):
Boy.
Speaker 1 (20:42):
Luckily it was the Lakers who show you that. Yeah,
we get underachieve just as good as anybody else. It's
almost like the Lakers want you to feel, Hey, we're unpredictable.
Speaker 3 (20:50):
You can't predict us.
Speaker 1 (20:51):
Just you think we're gonna win like three four in
a row, We'll give you a night like tonight where
we have no business losing this game, and not only
will we lose it, we'll lose it by twenty three
to make you really think twice about it.
Speaker 5 (21:00):
Came into the game did the Mavericks, losers of five straight,
six of their last seven. The only win in that
stretch was against the Phoenix Suns and nine point victory. Otherwise,
losses to Minnesota, who we've seen have heroics from Edwards.
Speaker 4 (21:15):
And be on the losing end of things. Portland. I
don't need to say anything more than.
Speaker 5 (21:19):
That, Sacramento, the plucky Houston Rockets, and well Cleveland, which
we know Cleveland is really good ty shirt that we
know in basketball, and we.
Speaker 3 (21:33):
Can't call for it.
Speaker 1 (21:34):
He's not gonna play it. No, I'm not gonna play
the called for you were calling for it. He's not
gonna play it, you know, Tysher.
Speaker 5 (21:39):
No, I just wanted the acknowledgment of the greatness of
Cleveland in that moment between that and Miles Garrett, given
that guy who said, Hey, I'm a nobody.
Speaker 4 (21:48):
See there it is.
Speaker 1 (21:49):
He's not gonna do it out there. He did because
he don't know why he did it. He usually doesn't
do it in situations.
Speaker 3 (21:53):
I don't know. Maybe Tycher's having a weird night.
Speaker 4 (21:55):
Oh maybe it's just you.
Speaker 3 (21:57):
You know what, You're right, it could be me.
Speaker 1 (22:00):
It could absolutely be Now let's get back to a
big story out of the NFL. On Black Tuesday, right,
we saw another head coach fired today, but there will
be no Mike McCarthy for the Chicago Bears. One day after,
the Bears said hey, Jerry Jones, you want to talk
to Mike McCarthy about maybe being our head coach, you know,
since his contract lapses in a week and you really
(22:21):
don't know what you want to do. We want to
talk to the guy, and the Cowboys today said oh no, no, no,
permission to talk to Mike McCarthy. This is I am
so embarrassed from McCarthy on this, Like I want him
to say no, you know what, Jerry, screw you.
Speaker 3 (22:36):
The Bears want me.
Speaker 1 (22:36):
I'm going there now as long as the Bears are
going to hire him, right, I'm leaving because clearly you
don't believe in me.
Speaker 3 (22:42):
You're only waiting.
Speaker 1 (22:43):
To see if you can get something better than me,
or what kind of commodity I am on the open market.
And because if you really like Mike McCarthy, you would
have extended him, you would have figured something out here.
You are, what six days till his contract ends, and
and and and you don't know what's gonna happen. I mean,
come on, man, this is this is this is quintessential
(23:05):
Jerry Jones going. Oh, I'm just showing you the power
I have. I don't believe in the head coach, but
if other teams want him, boy, he must be good.
So I'm gonna keep him because if you really thought
he was good, we wouldn't be in this situation. I
know the Cowboys had a down year, but Mike McCarthy's
a hell of a coach, being able to succeed in
in that controlled chaos that is Dallas and outside of
(23:28):
this year, get to the playoffs, win twelve games, it's
not his fault. Dak Prescott sucks in the playoffs, right,
you want to put those blame. It's not Mike McCarthy's fault.
Dak Prescott is terrible in the playoffs. He's a good coach.
He's a really good coach, and and if he was free,
he would be at the top of most sought after
coaches with Ben Johnson and Mike Vrabel. And now the
(23:49):
only reason the Cowboys sitting here saying no is because, oh, hey,
we're not gonna get somebody that I really thought might
be a difference maker and take our team to the
next level. That guy's not out there. Oh now we
want to hold on to Mike McCarthy. It just it's
smacks of like high school stuff where if you're dating
somebody and and you don't know how, I don't know
do you want to go public with this relationship? I
(24:09):
don't know how cool is the other person? I'm not
really sure. And then you find out, oh hey, everybody
else thinks that person is great and they want a
date and you're like, oh.
Speaker 3 (24:17):
No, no, we're dating. No, No, I love her. I
love her, she's great. Do I love her?
Speaker 1 (24:20):
You only like her because other people are interested in her.
You really didn't think that about her until other people
are like, are you kidding?
Speaker 3 (24:26):
Man? Are you kidding? She's awesome? You should day.
Speaker 1 (24:29):
She's hot, she's smart, she's funny, she's all of these
tail you.
Speaker 3 (24:32):
Oh, I don't know. That's Jerry Jones right now.
Speaker 1 (24:34):
So I wish Mike McCarthy would have the guts to say,
you know what, take a leap. I'm leaving, get me permission,
I'm going to the Bears, and then I say you're
gonna hire me right because I really can't go back
to Dallas after this, But okay, great. I wish he
would do that and drop the whole. I'd really want
to stay coach of the Cowboys. It's obvious that is
a one way street and it does not exist to
both ways. And the only reason you are where you
are and may get a contract extension now is because
(24:57):
Jerry Jones sees that you're valued by other teams. Wish
he had the guts to say, Jerry, takeoff, I'm going
to Chicago well, which goes.
Speaker 5 (25:04):
To Steven and anybody that is in the ring of advisors,
whether it's Billy, Bob Thornton on the set of Landman
or anybody else to advise him that he did have
a coach that in this hiring cycle, in any hiring cycle,
is still going to be a desirable, desirable coach. He's
a big commodity in this space. Yes, it's been a
(25:25):
while since that Super Bowl win, but twelve wins three
straight seasons. Last year a defensive no show. Hell, dan
Quinn still got a head coaching job out of it. Now,
Look what, he's a celebrated man in Washington, you know,
in the division. But it goes down to the can
you wait? Is Mike McCarthy willing to wait it out?
(25:47):
Fearing that when the game of musical Chairs finishes there's
still a seat for him to go into. And again,
as we ranked these six teams that are out there
with openings that if you tepidly, the word of the
day is this where we're supposed to scream like we're
on Peewee's playhouse or something. The word of the day
(26:07):
tepit that the Bears are in that one seed in
terms of you know, high status. So all of that
from Mike McCarthy, you got to decide do you want
to let the contract lapse? Or does Jerry now realize
and maybe this was the wake up call because while
we've heard that the Bears put out for the opportunity
(26:27):
to interview McCarthy. They can't be alone, right, they can't
be alone because not everybody thinks they're getting vable or
you know Ben Johnson going out of Detroit. All right,
that's only two those guys are not being cloned. This
is not the substance or any other derivative movie kind
(26:48):
of title. Right now, there's two guys and there are
six jobs, So that would mean to me someone else
would have placed a phone call at some point.
Speaker 1 (26:57):
Remember we had the Jake Laser report on Sunday about hey,
the Vikings have an extended Kevin O'Connell. He's a great
head coach, and teams are calling saying, hey, is he
available for trade.
Speaker 3 (27:06):
Day to talk about get getting ready for the playoffs?
And Kevin O'Connell's got to say, I want to be here.
You know we're gonna work it out.
Speaker 5 (27:12):
But weird, right, why are you waiting until the last
day of the contract to finish this? Like, what what
are you going to get out of this in terms
of the process. During the middle of this season. As
soon as things were going right and you demonstrated that
you could win with Sam Sam Sam, that should have
(27:33):
been the end of it. Here's your extension. Let's move on.
Let's not let this drag out, because now you're in
that uncomfortable space right of where where you are and
how much he loves it, and some of that might
just be coach speak at this point, because I gotta
think he's pretty salty given the way his team is performed.
Speaker 1 (27:53):
Exit out about a Fresca exit Swollen Dow and the

Robert Sala has obtained his first head coaching interview. He
will be interviewed by the Jacksonville Jaguars to be their
next head caw.
Speaker 5 (31:39):
He certainly won't have enough juice to force out Balky
No said, let's bring this guy in.
Speaker 1 (31:46):
Yeah, uh yeah, because that's who you want on a
team that struggle with a quarterback to maintain any sort
of consistently. Yeah, and to be a superstar. You want
Robert Sala, who knows nothing about offense.
Speaker 5 (31:58):
That's the guy you want to come in and run
you know what, You'll get some discipline, not because it
is discipline of running the stairs.
Speaker 3 (32:06):
That's the guy. Yeah, brush the hey you'll get.
Speaker 1 (32:08):
Your team will brush their teeth and they will run
the stairs right, and they'll probably play pretty good defense.
Speaker 3 (32:13):
He's gonna cut everybody.
Speaker 1 (32:14):
You have to sign about twelve defensive linemen and yeah,
but good luck as Trevor Lawrence is still good to
stink because.
Speaker 3 (32:19):
He knows nothing about offense. So there you go. There's
the Jaguars for you. Yeah, that's a you want, That's
what you want.

Speaker 1 (33:28):
Gets on, we'll be talking more about the playoff games.
And we got the college football playoff games coming up
on Thursday and Friday. But right now it's the end
of the season. Everybody's doing their end of season interviews.
So we have a game, a game that I like
to call NFL Exit Interview twenty four. I'm going to
(33:48):
say something that a star or coach might say in
their exit interview before they leave for the offseason, and
you tell me who that person is.
Speaker 3 (33:59):
Playing the game myself, Mike Harmon.
Speaker 1 (34:02):
Let's go Special Delivery, Steve de Sager justin Frostburg, and
Alex Tyshert.
Speaker 3 (34:10):
Are you ready?
Speaker 4 (34:11):
Cavalcade of Stars, Let's go.
Speaker 1 (34:13):
Come on now, I'm going to read in its entirety.
Then I'll say who am I? And then you guys
try to give me your guests as to who I'm talking.
Speaker 4 (34:21):
About, buzz until you shut up.
Speaker 3 (34:23):
Exactly. Very good, very very good, guys. Everything is great.
I'm getting paid a lot of money.
Speaker 1 (34:34):
There's never any real pressure to win because no one
ever thinks we're gonna.
Speaker 3 (34:37):
Win, So I'm really happy.
Speaker 4 (34:38):
Aaron Rodgers, I stop.
Speaker 1 (34:40):
None of these are Aaron Rodgers, just so you know,
none of it's too easy. None of them are Aaron Rodgers,
the Lasers man.
Speaker 3 (34:48):
None of them got for the drones.
Speaker 1 (34:52):
I know I wasn't number one overall picking. You expect
more consistency of me, but I'll keep bringing that. Except
it's this kind of consistency every year, all kind of
tantalize you that this is the year I'm gonna put
it all together because of all my physical skills. I'll
give you a glimpse now and then, but this is
really who I am.
Speaker 4 (35:10):
Oh, definitely Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 1 (35:11):
You are not gonna have to worry about expecting anything
more because I'm gonna give you games where I look
really good. Then I'm gonna be invisible, and we're gonna
win anywhere from five to eight games. I'm getting paid.
Life is great.
Speaker 3 (35:24):
Let's go. Who am I?
Speaker 6 (35:26):
Trevor Lawrence, No, not Trevor Lawrence, Aaron Rodgers, Karon.
Speaker 7 (35:31):
Rodger, because you said five to eight wins.
Speaker 4 (35:34):
In other words, I'm overestimated.
Speaker 3 (35:37):
Number one.
Speaker 7 (35:37):
It's John Stamos, which is not.
Speaker 3 (35:39):
Just saw a commercial with John. It is not John Stamos.
Speaker 1 (35:43):
John Stamos has overachieved in his acting career.
Speaker 4 (35:45):
Oh, by the way, he's a wizard.
Speaker 3 (35:47):
He is completely overachieved.
Speaker 4 (35:48):
He's going to be at Beach Life this year with
the Beach Boys. Let's go, Jason. Everything you read is
accurate to be Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 1 (35:54):
It's not Aaron right, he wasn't a number one overall pick.
There was at number one overall pick. Windo's out the window.
Speaker 3 (36:00):
Out the window. Remember, a team that's never expected to win.
Speaker 1 (36:04):
Physical skills never really translates, no pressure to ever win.
Speaker 3 (36:10):
Derek Car Am I not Derek Carr.
Speaker 6 (36:13):
You already had Caleb Williams last hour.
Speaker 3 (36:15):
Yeah, it is not Caleb Williams. This is a tough one.
I think it wouldn't be that tough. James Winston, it
is not jameis winning.
Speaker 6 (36:20):
I was thinking Bryce Young until the physical skills comment.
Speaker 1 (36:24):
You know why you're not thinking of him is because,
like his in his exit interview, no one ever expects
them to do anything.
Speaker 3 (36:30):
They are so far off the map. It doesn't matter.
Speaker 1 (36:33):
That's why you're not thinking of him.
Speaker 4 (36:37):
Hell else we got Aaron Rodgers's.
Speaker 3 (36:43):
You guys give up?
Speaker 4 (36:44):
Oh, Kyler Murray.
Speaker 1 (36:45):
Yes, I am Kyler Murray. Steve had to get to
the outpost of the NFL. He actually had a pretty
good year. He had to get to the HAWF of
the NFL to make sure that that was where it's at.
Speaker 3 (36:56):
I am Kyler Murray.
Speaker 1 (36:57):
All right, hey, I'll be the first to tell you
I had a great year, legendary, and it was my
first year in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (37:05):
But now here's the deal. Get me out of here.
You gotta get me out of here.
Speaker 1 (37:09):
We don't have a head coach, we don't have a quarterback,
we don't have any running backs. Everyone else in the
division is better than we are, and don't try to
sell me on. I do sell a lot of Team
Merch on the West Coast. That's not enough for me
to stay. Who am I Rock Powers? Yes, I am
Rock Power's very good. Mike Harbon very good.
Speaker 5 (37:30):
I went to them as soon as he said Merch, Yeah, Merch,
yeah yeah.
Speaker 4 (37:33):
I started thinking about the Big Raider image store.
Speaker 3 (37:36):
You know, you know, Brock, just think about all the
jerseys were something of your.
Speaker 5 (37:39):
Name bought the It's one of the few times you
pull a Raider from a pack of cards and you're
not you're saying, oh okay, cool, this is It's not
Bo Jackson, but this one will work.
Speaker 6 (37:50):
Why do I have five Gardner minshoes exactly Antonio Pierce
had some of that merch.
Speaker 4 (37:54):
By the way, still he does some sweet looking merch too.
Speaker 3 (37:59):
So this is NFL like an interview. Who am I?
Speaker 1 (38:01):
These are star players or coaches what they would be
saying in their end of the year exit interview. Wait, seriously,
I get to stay. You're not punking me? Wait and
you get to stay too?
Speaker 4 (38:14):
Definitely, Aaron Rodgers?
Speaker 1 (38:15):
How the hell do we pull this off? We stunk
and have no direction, I mean, no joke. I don't
have to fight and make an unreasonable argument. Why don't
deserve to be fired?
Speaker 3 (38:24):
This is awesome.
Speaker 4 (38:25):
Let's go have lunch, guys, I got this?
Speaker 3 (38:27):
Who am I?
Speaker 4 (38:27):
Aaron Rodgers?
Speaker 6 (38:28):
It's not it's actually anybody in New York Giants man
Shane's kid. It is here close Steve to Sayer, Who
is it stable? Everybody?
Speaker 3 (38:38):
Yes, I am bridy table. There you go. I get
to stay.
Speaker 4 (38:42):
Really, whoever's behind during number three?
Speaker 3 (38:45):
I thought for sure that was gonna happen.
Speaker 1 (38:47):
Uh okay, guys, Look, I've gone out of my way
to make sure everyone really likes me, and they do,
except when the topic of should we pay this guy
comes up? And then suddenly I'm JaMarcus Russell. As long
as we have Pro Bowl players at literally every offensive position,
I'll be fine, not great, not unbelievable, but I'll be
fine and functional.
Speaker 3 (39:07):
And you can give me fifty million dollars a year
next year. Who am I Brock Party? I am Brock
perse Barack Obama. It was not Barack Obama.
Speaker 5 (39:21):
No, it's not, and it was any time I can
bring the wise man into the discussion, we've won.
Speaker 3 (39:26):
It was not John Stamus either.
Speaker 7 (39:28):
That is a magic Johnson tweet.
Speaker 1 (39:30):
Hear go last one? You guys ready, h come on,
Aaron Rodgers, it's not. I think the direction of the
football team can be great. It can also be bad,
and that really depends on me. I think I've shown
glimpses that I'm so physically gifted. You'll want to overpay
me because you're drafted me really high. Just ignore the
fact that fundamentally I really have no idea what I'm doing,
(39:52):
and I'm gonna throw the football to the other team
just as much i will to my own, and that's
not gonna change. Oh and I'll get hurt a bunch too,
but I'll side of that. Let's go twenty twenty five
that could be any number of guys.
Speaker 6 (40:04):
Derek Carror, Jamis Winston, DeShawn Watson, who, Andre Hopkins.
Speaker 1 (40:09):
You drafted me really high? Not really good? Fundamentally, turn
the ball over a lot. We'll also get hurt.
Speaker 3 (40:18):
Not the auditor. No, not to talk about low.
Speaker 7 (40:20):
Oh, David Carr Not David Carr.
Speaker 3 (40:22):
Doesn't play anymore, Derek Carr, No.
Speaker 4 (40:26):
No, no, something about a Southern.
Speaker 1 (40:30):
If I said the tight shirt, which car is playing,
David or Derek he's.
Speaker 3 (40:34):
To get that role?
Speaker 7 (40:35):
He would say Toyota.
Speaker 3 (40:36):
Yes.
Speaker 4 (40:37):
I would also say neither. Trevor Lawrence.
Speaker 3 (40:41):
Now I'm not Trevor Lawrence, Aaron Rodgers, I'm.
Speaker 7 (40:46):
Tom Brady.
Speaker 1 (40:48):
I'll tell you Frostburg's comedic timing is pretty good.
Speaker 4 (40:51):
Yeah, you are.
Speaker 3 (40:52):
The marvelous missus Masle of this show. You guys give up? Yes,
I am okay, all right, Steve.
Speaker 7 (40:59):
I know this. You know this too well.
Speaker 6 (41:02):
Yes, I've heard of all the guys that we've mentioned
in this game.
Speaker 7 (41:05):
Yes, I probably do know this. It's that one tight
end from uh the.
Speaker 3 (41:11):
Vikings, Tjes, t J.
Speaker 4 (41:14):
Hawkins and coming in.
Speaker 3 (41:15):
I am Anthony Richardson. Should have got a rich should.
Speaker 4 (41:21):
Have got initials right, it's true.
Speaker 3 (41:24):
It is so. Say more time, Say one more time.
Aaron Rodgers, Yes, it is Aaron Rodgers. More from the NFL. Next,
this is fa
