(00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Greetings and welcome inside
our three of The Jason Smith Show with my base
friend Mike Harmon, live from the Fox Sports Radio Studios,
where the Mets are on top of the baseball world
with ten wins. Mets Mets, Mets, Mets Met, Mets, Mets
Met Mets Mett right now. In the NBA, late in

(00:47):
the third quarter, remember third quarter, third quarter, Denver leads
Golden State eighties, seven eighty five. It's got back and
forth game and the Nuggets had a big run to
finally take the lead. A few minutes ago Warriors retook
it and now it is shot for shot. Clay Thompson's
got twenty, Jordan Pool's got nineteen, Steph Curry with nineteen

(01:09):
off the bench. Meanwhile, Nicola Yokes sixteen rebounds, five assists,
and three steals. UH doing everything for the Nuggets in
this game. Again, so much time left late in the
third quarter. But you know, we talk a lot about
the Warriors, Mike and and how it looked overwhelming favorites.
Now that Devin Booker's injury, UH is going to keep

(01:30):
him out at least two to three weeks, even if
they get out of this playoff round and they're gonna
make it another one. Chris Middleton is out for the
Bucks and now suddenly the Bucks chances to repeat just
took a huge hit. He's gonna be out probably the
same amount of time. No, it's not y honest, but
still Middleton's number two guy, and boy they rely on
him for a lot um not from a competitive standpoint,

(01:52):
but from a relevancy eyeballs rating standpoint. Now, the NBA
absolutely needs the Warriors to have a big, deep playoff
run because the other stars either aren't gonna be around
or they don't quite have the it factor right because hey,
Kevin Durant, Kyrie Eving, how long are they gonna be
around there? Down to zip They're having a tough, tough,

(02:12):
tough enough time against the Celtics. Are they gonna come
back and win this? How much long are they really
gonna play for? And with Janice? Now you wonder what's
gonna happen without Middleton and and beat and beats fun,
but it's not quite the it factor of Steph Curry
and Draymond and Clay and the Warriors and the home arena. Uh,
they just have that look when they were a dynasty

(02:33):
we all remember. So it was just a few couple
of years ago. It's like they had a couple of
year pause and now they're on their way back up
with it. Uh, that familiarity, that attention. When Steph and
company get going, it is fun. And and I look,
I'll be honest, as as much as I give Steph
flak for being a certain you know, he's he's great
to a certain point kind of player, I can't argue

(02:54):
with how popular they are and how the NBA needs them,
Because can you imagine what the NBA Playoffs would look
like if the war as we're out who it would be?
They would put Joel and Beads picture everywhere. Hey watch
Joel and bead Is he really exciting? Look at this
three he made to win a game. Look at it.
We're just gonna over and over and over and over again.
I Mean, the NBA is all about stars, and that's

(03:15):
what happens when you build your league surrounding stars, right.
The NFL has always built the game around the teams,
and the stars come naturally, they're organically show five new
stars show up in the NFL every single year. The
NBA builds their league on the individual stars, and for
a long time there was a big influence on that
over into other sports. It was okay, now the individual

(03:37):
superstar in the NFL is a big deal, and yes
it you know it kind of overshadowed the team aspect
of it. But as time goes on, and as we've
seen the last couple of years, stars can't stay healthy.
Devin Booker is that Lebron James was was hurt, not
even in the playoffs. You know, Ben Simmons we've talked
about all year way too much, has still yet to
make his playoff debut. Line four, Zion Williamson is hurt

(04:01):
and not playing. Uh, the NBA you need the stars
in the playoffs, man, and if you don't have, if
you have Golden State, great, at least every other day.
You can put the Warriors on National TV and go, hey,
we got the Warriors and staff. Look, everything is wonderful,
but if you lose them, just think about the landscape
of the of the playoffs. Now, when what stars are
you really gonna be able to promote? Right? Look, I

(04:23):
love Jimmy Butler, Jimmy Butler is not a big crossover
I love Jayson Tatum, He's not a crossover star. Janice
is how much longer is you gonna be around without
Chris Middleton? All right? And Bead kinda is and then
you're all the way down to Katie and Kyrie. Maybe
have two more games and maybe that's it. Right. No,
Devin Booker, you can keep trying to make Chris paul
end of his career happen if you want, But we've

(04:43):
seen that story already. Booker, is it right? His youth,
his talent, filling it up, that's what he does. Chris
Paul is not that fill it up player anymore. And
Luca hasn't played yet, and Mitchell and the Jazz are
gonna wind up going home soon. They just they just
don't have it. They need that Steph Curry Warrior star
our power more than anything. Now, Oh, I think they're
just fine. I mean they're Look, you gotta get over

(05:05):
for people to to really push you to that next level. Right,
So while you know basketball fans, basketball culture, fantasy betting
and betting and trading cards, remember of billion collaborations, all
of these things, sneaker culture whatever. I mean, you've got
your built in fans and they know who these guys are. Right,
We doing our our job here. We know you know

(05:29):
who these guys are, and we can push the stars, right.
I mean, obviously the Sons I mean Devin Booker, were
the Sons moving the needle. I mean during the regular season. Yeah,
they're just doing their things. Yeah, but you know, but
but losing them, I don't think has that catastrophic. But
they went all the last year. Everybody is familiar with them.

(05:50):
It's the same players back again this year and Booker
scores a ton of points. Now, the Sons are sexy
man with Devin book Without Devin Booker, the Sons are
at sex. How much we talk about the songs all year,
we referenced them that they were winning. Oh they're not.
I know that the drama is well, they have no drum.
But if they're sexy. We're talking about them, right, But

(06:13):
in the playoffs you can only talk about so many teams.
So okay, of the of the pool we have, we
can't talk about Lebron every day because the Lakers aren't playing, right,
we can talk about it of those teams. Hey, alright,
the Sons have that sexes were used to seeing them
on TV. We've seen Devin Booker score a ton of
points that were just in the finals. Yeah, I mean,
would be rather see Lebron, of course, We would Nets
and k D, of course, But we can't choose. We

(06:35):
gotta it's the best of what's there. Well, when the
world is running down, you take the best of what's
still around. I mean, the police taught us that forty
years ago. Um. Look, the Celtics brand, Brown and Tatum
and the folk hero Prichard kind of like Crusoe over
in Chicago. But the brand of the Celtics certainly carries

(06:58):
right as a team. And maybe this this is an
opportunity to get back to a little bit of history lessons,
you know, take out of what Winning Time did with
the Lakers and Celtics this past week and find the
positive of Hey, here's all the threads back to the
good times, even if you don't have the Lakers uh
to talk about in the playoffs the Sixers. Here here's

(07:18):
some more dr J highlights and some more Moses Malone
quotes from back in the day. I don't know, there's
there's ways to to repackage it, and I think sometimes
you just gotta be a realistic. If you're the league,
obviously you want more and more and more, but you
know you then have to repackage with who's available to you.
And there are a number of young stars and this

(07:40):
is the chance to push them right. This is the
chance to to say, here's the big cell, Cell Cell,
it's what you do on a Monday night Raw SmackDown
or ww E Next. At some point you gotta get
in front of the crowd and give him a chance
to win them over or lose them forever. So it's
right if and if they don't have the sizzle on

(08:00):
the mic, they better be damn good at the physicality.
I'm looking at you, Rhonda Rousey, but samething here with
you and you didn't need to do that to Rhonda
Rousey to bring it back, and that was you just
that was a dropkick to the head. Wow, Like it
had to It had to be done because they keep
trying to give her a push and the crowd is
now counting to ten knowing that someone else is coming
out from behind that curtain to save a segment with her.

(08:23):
But but the point being, with all right, the stars,
you have to push them. You've got to see how
much traction you can get out of John Morant and
in the Memphis Grizzlies as they tried to advance further
on here and Jah is certainly active on social media
and has gotten a lot of love. And and here's
I mean, you got a guy named Bain for crying
out loud. Contact d C, figure out what Tom Hardy's doing.

(08:48):
Come hang out, Mr Wareing all you want to talk
about the NBA playoffs arculd player for different booker, Mr Warren,
I'm deadly from beyond the York. Mr nicely done. And
and maybe he was getting press conferences with Mr A
references would get a little a little annoying after a while,
well probably a little a little bit much. And and look,
if they go deep into the playoffs, I have no

(09:08):
doubt you will resurrect that as frequently as you can. Uh,
so you got that to look forward to America and
the and the globe. But the the NBA, you've got
a lot of young talent that just needs that breakthrough. Yeah.
The established stars, yeah, they're breaking down and some of
them aren't going to make it because you know their
teams were poorly constructed Lakers. Uh and the Nets or

(09:31):
guys Steve Nash is doing exactly with Kyrie Irving predicted
when he showed up. Yeah, we're just gonna roll the
ball out and see what happens. And every night someone
else will be a coach and look, and that's the
most important thing that the NBA playoffs can teach us. Right,
we mentioned this very briefly last night. The most important
thing to know, I mean, and this is incredibly important

(09:51):
from now on in the NBA. You have to go
into the playoffs with uh, why not us mentality? Because
people get get injured and stars get hurt all the time. Right,
this is this is now too many years in a
row to feel like, oh it's it's just it's just
a blip. No, this is what happens. Guys are playing
too much basketball, they get hurt. This soft tissue injuries

(10:13):
and every year now there are eight or nine stars
who wind up either getting hurt during the playoffs or
hurt during the season and can come back in the playoffs.
So it doesn't matter where you qualify, because as much
as it looks like, boy, how do we be at
this team? Boy there, that's a sixty three win team.
We're We're just a forty eight win team. There's so
much better. Hey, Devin Booker could get hurt anytime, right,

(10:34):
and now that series has flipped, and now if they lose,
no one would be surprised, right, And this is oh
my god, this is a this is a one eight situation.
Yeah it is, because this is what happens in the NBA.
Stars get hurt, all the Bucks look like they're here,
goes Chris Middleton. Now he's out for out Now, good
luck Bucks. Now the door is open for everybody else
in the East because the Bucks, who have done it

(10:55):
before and gone through things, now they're in a lot
of trouble and Janice has to take on even more
missing Middleton. This is if you're a team that gets in,
just just worry about yourself because it can change for
you in a second. The NBA playoffs change in a second.
When Devin Booker hurt his hamstring and now that he's
out two weeks, good luck. That's the best team in

(11:16):
the NBA, barn on, And now if they get out
of this round of the playoffs, they're they're fortunate getting
out of the next round without him. Oh, I don't
know that that's gonna happen, getting all the way to
the NBA finals. If Booker does come back, how many
minutes he's gonna be able to play? Right? What? How
effective is he gonna be? Trying to come back fast
from my hamstring injury. Guys don't come back fast from
hamstring injuries. Sure, he's gonna rush his way back because

(11:36):
it's a big year for the Suns and he wants
to play and he wants to win. And I get it.
He's one of those rare guys that that looks at
winning is something. This is what's missing off my resume,
and I want to win. So he's one of those guys.
But you're coming back fast, How effective are you really
gonna be? What's the propensity? Are you gonna get hurt again?
Everything changes in a second. Never walk into the NBA

(11:57):
playoffs thinking, ah, whatever, man, we'll give him a good
going around here. We're probably gonna go home. No, you
don't have to go home, because you never know when
something happens, when somebody gets hurt. Because the injuries happen
every year. Now, every year going to the playoffs, all
the big teams have to worry. We're going in. We
feel really good. We got a big one too punch,
and then either number one or number two winds up

(12:17):
going out and you can't always account for that. Well,
and hopefully right that translates to exciting games every night.
Thus far, we have not been disappointed. Every night we've
had a story come flying out, some good, some kind
of comical or puzzling. You know, the Kyrie Irving and
the double bird that wasn't caught on live TV. But

(12:40):
everybody gets the reverse angle because nobody actually just sits
and watch it as an event anymore. You gotta record
it all. But you have all of that, you know
that that flows out. And every night we've had some
fantastic finishes. To your point, right, the Bucks Middleton gets hurt,
uh in game two, But the Bulls had really tests
did the Bucks in game one? And and and the

(13:02):
Bulls had been a walkover for all top teams both
conferences all season long. They've lost all four games to
the Bucks by big margins in the regular season. But
you know what, you roll it out, and it's just say,
all right, let's go. Let's you're gonna get our best
punch time and again. See we keep hearing it back
to Mike Tyson for seven games, but just the the

(13:25):
familiarity maybe, but also the alright seasons on the line,
let's go, and injuries are gonna play a role they
always do, right. We talked about it a lot for
the Sun's run last year, and and some used it
as a pejorative. I just say, you know what, you
make your own breaks, keep yourselves healthy, and good fortune
can follow. But what we're getting right now is fantastic games, uh,

(13:48):
and a lot of storylines uh, night in, night out.
And I'm certainly not going to complain about that. I mean,
d n T knows drama man. Be sure to catch
live editions of The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon
weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific on Fox
Sports Radio and the I Heart Radio app. I should
have never said how much I hated this song. I

(14:08):
should have never said it. I never love this is
stupid sometimes. Uh oh, I know what to do. Hey,
let's talk about Mike Tyson. Keep talking about Red red Wine.
Fox Sports read this song Tyshir is gonna play forever
other songs though no songs changed up taking out that's

(14:29):
what goes well. He's got a couple that are his
favorites that don't go away. Add this to that list.
Tonight show on Fox Sports Radio, brought to by one
of our favorite cities, Las Vegas, the greatest arena on Earth.
Every game, match, race, and competition it is always on.
No one does sports like Vegas and the excitement is endless.

(14:50):
So make sure to plan your trip today at visit
Las Vegas dot com. That's visit Las Vegas dot com.
Eight minutes to go in the fourth quarter Golden State Denver,
great back in worth battle right now n nineties six
warries with the lead and a must win game for
the Nuggets. Will have more on this coming up in
a few minutes, but earlier tonight one of the biggest

(15:11):
comebacks you will ever see in NBA history. It was
a twenty six point lead for Minnesota over the Grizzlies.
And Pat bev is honking it up like he's playing
the Clippers. He's so excited. Carl Anthony Towns is rolling.
And then the Grizzlies don't just chip away at the lead,
they just obliterated. They outscore Minnesota thirty seven to twelve

(15:34):
and the fourth quarter and turney twenty six point deficit
into a one oh four victory. And if I said
this to you and said, hey, all right, Grizzlies win
this game, what would you say? You would say? Oh, man,
John morand must have had like thirty eight points and
fifteen assists and twelve rebounds and six deals. John Moran
had a nice game, right, But it was a game

(15:54):
of sixteen points. Tennis has ten rebounds, great triple double
shot horrendously five out of a team from the floor,
he had seven turnovers, five of ten from the free
throw line. This is yeah, that's that. Yeah, that those
are center totals. What are we doing here? They were
twenty out of thirty one from the free throw. He
still wound up winning the game. But I mean, circle
that one, right one. But you know, nearly as many

(16:19):
makes as t Wolves attempts. But this is the big thing,
right because they've kind of flown under the radar, the
Grizzlies because John moran star power is immense. Right, He's
the he's next in the NBA. Right, he's the next guy,
He's the next Kobe, He's the next everything. He had
another big block tonight where he jumped up to the
top of the black backboard and and and blocked a shot.

(16:40):
It was amazing. Um. But the end of the season
with John Morant hurt. The Grizzlies kept winning, all right,
they kept winning and finished second in the Western Conference,
but they kind of went under the radar a little
bit because, Okay, it's Memphis. It's a small market, yet
John morand brings a lot of eyeballs. But there's other
drama that was happening. The Warriors were playing without Steph Curry.

(17:01):
How are they gonna do with the the play in series,
where all we could talk about are the Lakers going
to make it? Are the Nets gonna be in the
playing round? Is Lebron gonna be healthy? There was other
drama at the end because generally we don't make a
big deal out of who's finishing at the top of
a conference who isn't. But Memphis kept winning without John Morant. Okay,
if if I had to say, you give me one

(17:23):
other teams, I told you the Warriors overwhelmingly the favorites
to win the NBA title right now, they're they're far
and away over everybody because of Devin Booker's injury in Phoenix.
I'd put the Grizzlies right behind them because you watch
them tonight where Baine had the big night, and he
has big nights all the time. Clark is terrific off
the bench. I think he's his player efficiency ratings at
top ten UH in the NBA. I think that every

(17:45):
player is in the top hundred for player efficiency ratings.
The Grizzlies are deep, and they play and they really
have figured out this year, how do we win when
our star doesn't play well? And that's the mark of
a championship team, not just how do we win with
our star? How do we win win our star doesn't
play well or a star isn't there. And the Grizzlies
win big with John Morant, they also win without him.

(18:08):
They don't have a lot of household names. Maybe you
remember Dylan Brooks from Oregon the n c A tournament,
he hit the Big three Tonight in the final minute
to give him an eight point leading. It was lights
out for the Timberwolves from there. The Grizzlies had their
first game of the playoffs where they lost. Kind of
taken by surprise a little bit. The Timberwolves are coming
off the momentum of winning in the playing round. But

(18:28):
the Grizzlies have been incredible the last two games, and
more importantly, they can win without their star. The Mavericks
are impressing as well, right, winning without Luca Dontage. But boy,
I think that says more about the Jazz and it
does about the Mavericks, because the Jazz are they should
be winning these games, right. I don't care how good
of a coach Jason Kidd is. You have the best
superstars on the floor, right, you have the best two

(18:49):
players on the floor at any time, and you're down
and you just lost two out of three to a
team without Luca. That's on you. This is hey. The
Timberwolves are a good team, they're hot, they got three
big stars and you're coming the Grizzlies. Yeah, it doesn't matter. Now,
we got our game faces on and I'll tell you there,
don't sleep on them because they are a terrific, terrific
basketball team. Yeah, it's hard to I mean we're a

(19:10):
number two seed and and a lot of that work
was done, as you mentioned, with John Moran not available
to play right was huge and getting his breakthroughs and
the odds were drifting down, and he was getting into
the discussion of all the you know, nightly m v
P talk coming soon to Fox Sports Radio Radio soon.

(19:30):
What we do with that? I mean, there there's gonna
be drum rolls, drumbeats and and drum drum you know,
a little signature moves all over the players. We're gonna
go through all that. We're gonna get some Neil Peart,
We're gonna get some Stewart Copeland, We're gonna get you know,
we'll get some bottom. I mean, we're gonna go all
the way through, Keith Moon, you name it, um Grove.
We we got drummers for days. We could we could

(19:52):
do this, uh at tight shirts, Like what did I
sign up for? Now? I did one one one drum
and and and you're you're you're putting me to work.
But the Grizz sure, I mean they went had that
tremendous run with no Moran, during the regular season. Here
they get the energy of you know, that Minnesota crowd

(20:14):
rolling in all right, weather the storm, and then like
all right, we're ready to play basketball after halftime and boom.
I remember the uh T Wolves always scored twelve points
after that blistering pace in the first quarter, right, second
quarter twelve points, fourth quarter twelve points. Uh, twenty four
minutes does not make a basketball game, because they were

(20:36):
brilliant the first and third. Uh. You got you gotta
finish the job. You know, if you're going to school
on the quarter system and you go through summer school,
that still counts. You know, you still got to do
the work to get your full credit along the way.
So yeah, I think if you're gonna go and do
your metal stand stuff, then then yeah, Memphis has to
be among your leaders there the Eastern Conferences masses. So

(20:57):
I I don't even know, because we we like these sons.
Did we talk about the heat a lot during the
regular season. Nope? They just went in one fifty three
games and we just kind of went all right, cool, uh,
and there was cannibalizing and the Bulls couldn't be a
good team and all of that fun. Uh. And then
we still loved every storyline that came out of Brooklyn.

(21:18):
You know, for your third your third team? Man, who
are you putting in the third because I mean, you're
not going to Dallas? Are you the third team? And
I would hang on a second, Hang on a second,
Hang on a second. You want to see a team
that could be in the Western Conference five just for
Dallas for a second. The Mavericks are winning this series

(21:39):
to the Jazz, who are an absolute mess without Luka.
Dontits right? They're gonna get it back at some point.
They could get the Pelicans in the next round and suddenly,
who who's gonna win that series? Effects So you could get,
you could get, you could get. By the way, with
the Jazz. You know you did a lot of Donovan
Mitchell before. Uh, don't forget to uh you know you

(22:01):
you mentioned him as one of the top players in
the series. Don't don't forget to drag Rudy Gobert while
you're at it. Who wants out? And well, look, the
Jazz may get completely blown up if they have a
meltdown and don't get out of the first round. Here
like that team may get completely blown up. Mitchell will leave.
I mean, maybe they keep Go Bear, but Quinn Snyder
will be gone. I mean that team will get a
complete makeover, because it's like, wow, the players are pretty good,

(22:23):
but wow, man, really you can't. You can't beat the
mass without Luca. I mean, that's that's a big deal.
But the look the sometimes the path we talked about
the injuries being a really big deal in the NBA playoffs,
The Mavericks are on that path. Man, here come the
Jazz who may just quit. And then you get the
Pelicans and then you're in the Western Conference Finals and
who knows who's healthy at that point? Who knows that

(22:44):
Steph Curry still healthy? Did did Memphis win? Is John
Moran still healthy? Who knows? Man? Are you pulling out
a little action figures and putting pins in them as
you're making your round. It's like, this guy could get hurt,
and this guy's had an injury. Street just such anger coming. Hey, Hey,
I'm not angry. I look well I was a little

(23:06):
angry after this episode of Moonnight because I'm trying to
figure out what the hell is going on. But uh,
this is this is where injuries are reality now. I
mean normally you would say, oh, I can't bang on injuries. No,
you can bank on entries. Injuries happen, especially players who
have been injured in the year, they could get injured again.
Steph Curry is still trying to find his way back,
and Morant's back after being out a long time. No,

(23:26):
guys are you. Guys are trying to still find their
way back. Man, It's difficult. It's difficult. Look at you.
I just like that. You're you're calling for re injuries
and problem. I'm not calling. I'm not calling. I'm not
between the white lines, and I'm talking for about guys.
I'm not saying I want guys stop putting words. And

(23:48):
I'm not saying like I want I still play that
either tight shirt. I'm just saying, guys get hurt. Right,
this is the playoffs every year. It's a war of
attrition if you can win, right, So watch out. You
don't know who's gonna be healthy. What did I tell
you a half hour ago? Sir? I'm gonna kill you.
What tell what I tell you a half hour ago? Hey,
go into every series thinking we can win it, because

(24:09):
guys are gonna get hurt. There's gonna be things that happen,
and you have to face adversity and and if you're healthy,
you have a chance. Yeah. I was more looking at
it as I've got a short series, uh the max
is seven games. Let's go later on. It's like you
don't know someone might get hurt. Play hard tonight. Guys
get hurt all the time. Guys at all the time.

(24:30):
I'm not rooting for that at all. Twitter and how
about a fresca Mike and smallen up to ty Shirt
Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Carmen. I
didn't even say, well, my name has become the equivalent
of Mike Tyson with little chefs in the ring here,

(25:43):
Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon, Now
Real Quick on the Mike Tyson stuff. Uh, it's still
surprises me. It's still surprises me, Mike. You know we've
talked about this. You know, he hits the guy today
on the plane who has given him all kinds of
flak and won't move him alone own and it it
just surprises me when when when either celebrities are sitting

(26:05):
and coach on planes or they are traveling like by themselves,
like Tyson, someone that you should have. I mean, I
know it's Mike Tyson, but he should have a bodyguard,
like he should have people that can help keep him
away from guys standing over a seat on a plane
and screaming at him. I'm always surprised at things like
that because it's not like you know, you know, hey, look,

(26:26):
you know it's not just another famous guy. Mean's one
of those famous people on the planet. And he and
and he's traveling like by himself, and this guy's just
standing or no one's doing anything. There's no one to say, hey, hey, hey,
you want to stop, you want to stop? And then
Tyson starts giving roundhouses to the guy. I mean, I
I am always surprised when I see someone of of
that level of fame and they're by themselves and traveling

(26:48):
by themselves. Really, man, say good for them. It wasn't
good for it wasn't good for Tyson today though, No, no,
And and look it's we hope an isolated incident. He
made it to whatever event he was going to because
he and Rick Flair were posing for pictures. That's true,
so I mean still got down there. So but but certainly, um, yeah,

(27:13):
the reaction two would be tough guys and jackasses. I mean,
he prophetic right self self prophecy because he he had
talked about, you know the number of folks that are
tough guys. Uh, and then you know get punched in
the face. Uh and whatever that that you couldn't you

(27:34):
think you can get away with it? Uh? And in
this case, he didn't get away with it. The guy
was used as a speedbag. So now the litigation will begin.
Imagine getting more and more stories about what a jackass
this guy. Is there litigation or is the guy just
getting paid? Right? Is there litigation stories? He just getting paid?
I think you should get a whole lot of nothing, uh,
and should just go on with his life. And made

(27:56):
me think better about his own actions. And you always
wonder was any because you know, I'm suspicious now in
general whenever video comes out stuff like that, like how
much of that was? Hey, if he hits me, man,
I'm seeing dollar signs. I'm gonna do this. I'm gonna
do this. And if he hits me, I am seeing
dollar signs like crazy, maybe he wouldn't expect it to

(28:18):
get hit as many times it's Tyson it hit him,
But man, I'm seeing dollars that that that's seven figure
dollar signs right there that I'm seeing. Yeah, but I
mean it's completely you know set up, you know, with
his buddy taping from you know, the next seating set
section right the next dial over. Uh, and you get
all of it, and even looking for a reaction, whether

(28:41):
it was gonna be Tyson yelling at him getting his
finger in his face or what you ended up getting,
which was again the speedbag effect that they got what
they wanted. So yeah, no, no question, it wasn't got
you kind of scenario, at least the way it sets
up here, it's it seems pretty blatant and obvious. Be
sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith Show

(29:03):
with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven pm
Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the I Heart Radio
app Fox Sports Radio That Jason Smith Show with my
best friend Mike Harmon. Uh, we'll get to the big
day in Major League Baseball. Miguel Cabrera still one hit

(29:23):
shy of three thousand coming up in a few minutes.
But it is now a final in Denver. The Warriors
come from behind to beat the Nuggets one eighteen to
one thirteen. They take a three games to non lead
in this series. And I'll tell you what. We spent

(29:44):
a lot of time talking about Steph Curry, Jordan's pool, right,
Clay Thompson, where is he going to? You know, what's
the best starting line up here? And sure Steph made
a great play down there down the stretch. He just
blew by Nicola Yokich for a layup to give the
Warriors a five point lead with about forty seconds left
to go, but lost in the conversation we have Mike,
because there's many reasons for this Warriors resurgence, right, Jordan

(30:07):
Pool is huge, Right, Pool is huge. Becoming a Superstars
third year Steath is still step. They figured out the
rest of the bench and the support players like they
hadn't before. It's terrific. But one thing that goes by
the wayside is Draymond Green and his rediscovering of his
talent and desire after basically taking the last year and

(30:30):
a half off. Let's be honest, he wasn't the same guy.
We all thought, maybe he's done too many minutes, too
much he's responsible for and he's gonna get old fast. Um.
Him rediscovering that has been just as big a reason
as as anything else for the Warriors, because suddenly he's
become that glue and he just makes the play of
the game with the Nuggets, with the ball and the

(30:51):
defending m v P. Yokich has the ball in the
pain and it's gonna be it's gonna be a bucket
and cut the lead to a one score and drain
Mon just reaches in and pokes the ball away for
a steel. The Warriors go the other way and they
get foul and hit free throws. Uh, Draymond Green doesn't
get enough credit. And look, it's it's tough because basically
you punt. It's hard because it's all about effort and desire.

(31:14):
But that's kind of been it for Draymond Green. We
were waiting for him to come back to being the
player that he was, for a guy that did everything,
that could get threes and run the court. And it's
as good as he is defensively, but all the other
guys get the attention, but man, him coming back and
being the glue that doesn't get enough attention. And he
absolutely is that play, that's that's an m v P
type play right there, biggest play of the game. I'm

(31:36):
gonna stop the defending m v P and I'm gonna
basically clinch the game for us. Now, we've had the
fun of watching this squad over the course of the year,
right and we've noted that the Draymond Green thing a
few times with big plays, big moments, and certainly this one. Uh,
And I've I've used the reference before. But folks, go
check your video of what Dennis Rodman used to be

(31:58):
like as a Austin But certainly during his time in Chicago,
he'd make a big play defensively and then he would
run back down the court like a peacock, right, John,
But that look like yep, I just did that. And
for a guy that had his reigning m v P
and one of the finals this year, Nicola Yokis was

(32:21):
made to look small. A number of times you mentioned
the Curry play, but certainly this from Draymond Green. He
took his money, right, he took he snatched his soul.
Uh in that moment like that frustration because Yokis had
a big game for for most of the game, and
then you know what the Nuggets forgot to play basketball
the final four minutes, final four minutes of the game.

(32:41):
You know, you can go back to where it was
tied at one oh nine and they scored four points,
score four points. You get a little role from from
Yoki at the three mark. They don't score again until
Barton put has a put back with twenty three seconds left.
That's it. And for the Warriors, you know, it's all

(33:02):
about offense, No, no, no, they came up with a
bunch of big defensive stops uh and frustrated the hell
out of Michael Malone and his squad down the stretch.
But Draymond Green being the cog to all of it.
I mean, and and not just that, but when you
can get hit by so many Haymakers, and Steph can

(33:23):
hit you with something, and Pool can hit you and
Clay and then you get dream, it's like, okay, enough, Uh,
you guys just have too much. Man, it's just too
it's too it's too it's too much for one team
to have, and the Warriors have it. But you can't
you can't underestimate as much of a glue guy as
Draymond is, and that that's kind of what he is
now at this point in his career. He's not quite

(33:43):
the dynamic player that he used to be, where he
would score fifteen, pull down ten, eleven rebounds, give you
nine assists. He's not quite that guy every night. But
the glue guy he is now back and and and
then being the leader of the team, and maybe a
lot of it is Hey, no more kban. Now we're
good again. I'm back to having the voice that I
had before. But Uh yeah. I mean the Warriors are

(34:05):
all the way back, man, and and that's why they're
the overwhelming favorite. They showed you tonight. Hey, the Nuggets
are in a must win game, and and they played
really well coming back and they tried to ride Yokich
all the way Nope, Warriors up three. Is that the
series is over six, five and ten. Uh and and
a number of plays that won't show up in a
box score but important nonetheless, Twitter at how about a fresca?

(34:26):
Mike has swollen? Don't We got more from the NBA
and more on the most controversial play of the day,
which I really don't think it's that controversial, controversial, controversial.
