Speaker 2 (00:22):
Let's give you're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
How many times do I have to say no Gene Shorts.
I haven't warned Gene shorts in twenty some odd years.
Speaker 3 (00:34):
Jeene, it's not no Gene Shorty is speaking into existence.
Jeene shorts Man. No, Gena's retiring at the end of
the year. You can pick up the mantle. I know,
Jeene shortsman. He's on his farewell tour. No, come on,
you can have a giant pocket chain and everything.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
You know.
Speaker 1 (00:48):
The last pair of I'm telling you, the last pair
of Gene shorts I had was in nineteen ninety three.
There were a pair of z Cavaricci Jene shorts and
I loved them. They were so cool.
Speaker 3 (00:59):
But that's it. Though. Then I understood, oh oh wait,
Jean Shorts is okay, no, no, no, no, Jeene shorts, worn
out cleats, bloody Zach Wilson Jersey. Okay, okay, fine, more
of a bloody Freeman McNeil, Jersey, but fine Jeane shorts.
Come on, what do you think called shorts? What do
you think? I am?
Speaker 4 (01:17):
Man?
Speaker 3 (01:17):
Come on, shorts. I'm going with the open. I'm going
with that in the open. I don't care. It's Jordan.
And now that we're at you know, it's thirty years
since you know, you're busted out in nineteen ninety three,
thirty years of Jeene shorts. I mean, it's been a
long long time.
Speaker 1 (01:31):
Kind of works it, I know, anything is I remember
those pairs of shorts, that pair of shorts because one
night for my birthday, I think I was twenty two,
we went out and I don't know how it came out,
of course one of those things. We were twenty two,
but somehow, like people were signing my shorts.
Speaker 3 (01:49):
Like we went to a bar and like we had
girls signing my shorts and stuff, and was your ass
in them I was wearing?
Speaker 1 (01:57):
I mean then I'm like, oh, Like the next day
I woke up and I'm like, oh, that's right, and
we were signing. My oh, these shorts are ruined. Now,
let's not coming out something. I couldn't wear them anymore.
I couldn't wear them like, ah, great, thanks. I have
so many questions, but it's too early in the night.
Z Cavalricci shorts were great. Hey, the lee, the Avarecho.
Speaker 3 (02:17):

Speaker 3 (02:51):

can still get off a dead stock Okay. I don't
mean like if I go on eBay and find it
like oh no, I mean like, do they like you

Speaker 3 (03:14):
That's what I'm gonna follow this link. It may pick
me down a deep dark passage. Is it just Gene

Instagram account. No, okay, Wow, we should try to get

I'm the new modey go. Well, it's very it's very exclusive.
It's very very sick. They don't have anybody just watch you. Yeah,
it's exclusive.
Speaker 1 (03:49):
Uh, we're locked the tyreck dot com studios tyrec dot com.
Speaker 3 (03:52):
I'll help you get there.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
An unmatched election, fast free shipping, free road has a
protection over ten thousand recommended installers. Tyraq dot com is
the way tire buying should be well, a shocker on
Thursday night. Although if you listened to the show last
night when we weren't talking World Series, told you this
is a game the Jets win.
Speaker 3 (04:10):
Now they were favored, yes, which is just prospect. How
is a two and six team favored against the six
and two team? Hey, Vegas did right.
Speaker 1 (04:18):
Anytime you see a point spread like that, you know,
m maybe something is up, because why would the Jets,
who have lost five in a row be a favorite
on a short week against the Texans. At at the
least it should have been the Texans by a couple
of points, but it wasn't.
Speaker 3 (04:34):
It was the Jets by two. And now Vegas patting
themselves on the back because the Jets don't just win,
but they dominate the vast majority of the game and
they win twenty one to thirteen. Now, well, wait, wait
a minute, they do Your guy had thirty two yards
passing at halftime. We were better in the first quarter.
I don't want to talk about. The time of possession
(04:54):
was twenty to ten. First downs were two to one.
I want to talk about. The shortage was two to one,
all in favor. First quarter. The Jets were better. They
were clearly the better team on the field. Second quarter
was Houston, third and fourth quarter was the Jets. So
three out of four quarters is the vast majority of
the game. I'm just doing math here, buddy. I know
you do the math, but I can don't. I don't
know how I can do one, two, three, four, I
(05:15):
can do that. I don't know that three and four
necessarily dominated. They finished and a normally reliable field goal
kicker he suddenly wasn't You said he was a kicker kicker?
He said he was a kicker. Hiccuped. I hiccuped in
the middle of the word kicker. You said it was
a stickler for a kicker. Uh, you know, he's normally reliable.
(05:36):
And they took the points off the board, which you
never do. About that, No, no, no, Well we'll get
to that part.
Speaker 5 (05:43):
Well.
Speaker 1 (05:43):
There's a lot of ins and outs and twists and
turns of this game that are just mind boggling. The
Jets had one of the worst errors you will ever
see a team break in the first quarter of this game,
which we'll get to coming up in a few minutes.
But a different angle on this now is to see
this because what has been the deal with the Jets
up up until this point. What did I tell you?
Speaker 3 (06:05):
Right? Whoever? You say, Oh, the Jets are a big
story and Jason, that's your team.
Speaker 1 (06:08):
Yeah, I'm gonna tell you, and I've told you that
the Jets are a team that has a lot of talent.
They're too big defail. I told you eventually they were
gonna be really good, but it had to happen. Now,
this is three weeks ago. What I'm saying it has
to happened. Now, it's gotta happen now. Well, two weeks
go by and finally they win a game. They're too
big defail. Their playmakers are too big. By the time
Aaron Rodgers gets on the same page with Davante Adams
(06:31):
the rest of the team, you get to week eleven,
week twelve, lookout, the Jets are gonna be just crushing teams.
But you can't have it go that far because you
could be out of the playoffs by then. So I
told you the Jets, We're gonna get there, and tonight
they had every reason to quit. Many times in this game.
You had bad penalties, all right, with a penalty on
a roughing the kicker that nearly was disastrous for the Jets,
(06:55):
but they were bailed out of that. You had Malachai
Corley walking into the end zone with a touchdown and
dropping the ball before the goal line. The Jets lose
a touchdown there. You had other big penalties that cost
the Jets possession field position. Uh, it was everything was
there for the Jets to quit, to say, you know what,
it's just another day in Jets. The them, this is
(07:15):
what it's like. We've lost five in a row. It's
not going our way. But they found a way. The
defense did to shut down c. J. Stroud and certainly
not having the playmakers a wide receiver helped, you know,
being without uh just Sefon digs for the rest of
the season. Still without Nico Collins another couple of weeks.
We told you they need wide receivers and need reinforcements
(07:38):
of the deadline. We talked to Jay Glazer about that
a few minutes ago.
Speaker 3 (07:40):
Yeah, he was He's like, no, the Cavalry's not coming.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
But this was a But this is a game that
the Jets could have quit so many times, but they
found a way to dig deep and win.
Speaker 3 (07:50):
And that's why this is a one. Now I'm back
and I'm feeling about hope, and I'm feeling good because
this was one of those. But I know exactly no,
but the deep and win. It's not like Houston went
and ran away out from them. No, no, no it did.
But this was a game where the Jet I've seen
this game a thousand times where the Jets lose because
they realize there's just some kind of forces at work
against us. And when the Jets, when the Jets get
(08:11):
the chance to do something like this, they're always going
to jet. But every time a bad mistake happened, the
defense bailed them out. They got to c J. Stroud
eight sacks on the night. Hassan Redick was great, Will
McDonald was terrific, and they needed a win. But they
needed to come together win. They don't have anything. They
didn't have any intangibles, they didn't have any quote, leadership, togetherness,
(08:34):
they had no image, had the optics of them. I
don't know what their identity was. That's the big thing
when we talked about the Jets failing was that they
haven't come together as a team yet. There are a
bunch of talented guys out there, but they're really not together.
And I don't know if they're going to get to
that point, because it's just a bunch of guys that
are trying to get something done, because the Jets are
(08:56):
complete reactionary teams. Hey, we're not playing well, let's fire
the head coach. Well, let's bring in an all pro
wide receiver. Let's go sign that defensive end edge rusher
that we have. Let's do this, Let's do all these
new things we're gonna do, and let's keep trying until
we get something. But organically, something has to happen to
bring the team together because you could see Aaron Rodgers'
body language is terrible. Other players' body language was terrible.
(09:19):
Aaron Rodgers a bad body language throughout the first half tonight,
throwing a pass well, DeVonta Adams is blocking one of
the defensive backs. I asked you off air whether you
thought this was the night we found out whether Aaron
Rodgers was capable of murder on Halloween. With the number
of looks, I rolls points to the heavens on plays
that weren't made. But this was a game where this
(09:43):
is how they needed to win. If they just escape
and they win a game, Hey, they're thirteen to ten
or something like that. Okay, but all the times they
could have quit, the defense bailed them out. Rogers hooked
up with Davante Adams for a back breaking touchdown. Garrett
Wilson two touchdowns, including probably the best catch in the
NFL we've seen since Odell Beckham, which we'll get into
(10:03):
that coming up more in a few minutes. This was
that come together when they need. It was a feel
good Hey, we see what we're capable of. Now we
have stopped the backsliding, and this has all the hallmarks
of a springboard win. And I get that. I'm back
in now, and I'm probably stupid for it, because I well,
I spent all time off the air telling all the
editors here Jason, the Jets think, I go, yes, never
(10:26):
expect anything from the Jets. You'll never be dis I
heard nothing, expect nothing.
Speaker 1 (10:30):
Yet here I am, and I'm back in now because
I see what they're capable of.
Speaker 3 (10:34):
And they had that kind of win that is a
come together win, and now we see where they go.
They have Arizona coming up in ten days, which is
a winnable game. Their schedule is not difficult the rest
of the way. Now I'm back man, now I'm back,
but the come together win to I wouldn't just be
back to be back, but the come together win aspect
of it. Now, I'm back for it. I could go
back to just two, just a little over two hours ago,
(10:57):
doom and Gloom. You were ready to throwing in the
garbage that People's way made for themselves for dinner. You're
gonna spike holes into all of their drinks that were
in the fridge because you were spiteful and angry at
the level of play or lack thereof, from your jets,
including the great Malachi Corley. Don't blame me. Yankee fans
(11:18):
were feeling the same way in the fifth inning last night.
They're still doing no I fuck things turn on a
dime in this particular case. And I have plenty to
say about Houston because I've been full out on them
for weeks, going all the way back to the game
they played against the Bears. Good team, not great team,
(11:39):
even at six and two coming into this one, we
saw the offensive line. Oh, having Reddick around probably helps
a little bit. So whatever was done to massage that,
whoever wants to jump up and down and take credit,
I'm sure we'll get some of that as the week
goes on. Oh yeah, they really made that happen with
Hassan to get him in because you saw how important
(12:00):
that was and how great the pass rush was over
the game. We talked about it earlier in the show. CJ.
Stroud trying to extend plays, make things happen, and at
times putting himself into further harms way. But for your Jets, yeah, Garrett,
Garrett Wilson, We've talked about him his entire NFL run.
The level of talent that he has. First couple of
(12:21):
weeks was tough. Couldn't break containment against top cornerbacks and
the timing wasn't there. Well, you add DeVante Adams, things
start to free up a little bit. Will Anderson was
slowed by injury today for Houston. That helped because coming
into the game they were one of the teams, I
want to say they were third in the NFL and
quarterback pressures Aaron Rodgers got some heat, but he also
(12:43):
had some other other times that his offensive line did
a pretty good job and where he was able to
slide by a little bit of time and find Wilson
and find Adam, and some of that is just timing. Right,
getting more and more reps. With both those guys on
the field, I'd like them to rely on the run
game a bit more at times than they do, because
passing the ball nearly forty times a game is I
(13:05):
don't know that that's the recipe for success. But how
much was Mike Mayok talking about that in the first quarters?
Just think they gotta give the ball. He needs twenty
five touches to night. Joe Mixon needs twenty five touches tonight. Yeah,
well he wants the running back to reign supreme once again.
For me, it's just you've got Hall. Well, it go
back to the land before time. But between Hall and Alan,
(13:30):
you've got two guys that you should be able to
make Hay with to make life a little easier for
Aaron Rodgers if nothing else. Backing off would be blitzers
in some of that heat. But for this game, second half, yeah,
he was on point. Had a terrible first half. Second half,
you get three touchdowns, you go for nearly two hundred yards. Yes,
(13:50):
it's another game without a three hundred yard passing effort,
But I think he's more than happy with the way
the guys responded in the second half. Not to mention
or maybe do a highlight. You know, Garrett Wilson makes
that stat line look that much better with the effort
that he made in the back of the end zone.
Defensive back misstimed his leap and Wilson came back and
(14:11):
got it, got his shin down. After review, the touchdown stands,
and it just seemed like as a assembled crowd and
even Aaron Rodgers himself, there was a big exhale at
that moment. It's like, all right, we made a big play.
Now it's our game to go and take and you
watch down the stretch. Defense rose up time and again,
and Aaron Rodgers played much more free, loose, comfortable football. Yeah.
(14:34):
I mean, look, his biggest plays were I'm throwing it
up to my two best players. They are going to
make plays now, a better play the past of Devonte Adams.
Speaker 1 (14:41):
Who got opened and hit him in stride. The play
to Garrett Wilson was I'm throwing it up and you're
gonna make a play. And really, well, it's third nineteen.
It's probably the best catch that a Jets player has
ever had. And I'm going back now and I guarantee
it's the best catch in the NFL. You've seen since
Odell Beckham, Beckham Moore degree at differ culty because he
catches the ball behind his head.
Speaker 3 (15:02):
Again. We'll get into that moral coming up later on
the South. If nobody watched it, doesn't you can't everybody watch.
Speaker 1 (15:07):
It was on National TV tonight. It was streaming. Everybody's
dressed up.
Speaker 3 (15:10):
Nobody watched Amazon. They were gone, stop no if al
Michaels had to stay, everybody else you don't know that
he had stay. Look it was l. It was Kirk
and it was Ben and they might have had Ai
L going in the second half after that first half Tobocle.
It's just Kirk talking to Ben. You're watching the pen.
Can you believe this? Ben? Want you want to treat Ben? Ben? Treat? Treat?
(15:32):
Oh all right, Sit, sit, good, good paw, goodbye, high five, goodbye?
Oh hey, great catch by Wilson. Apparently it might be
a touchdown. All right, Ben, Ben stand stand high five,
high five? Exit out out of Fresco, exit, swelling down.
The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon live from the
tirerack dot Com studios. We got more from the night
(15:54):
in the NFL. I mean two plays from this game
that are absolutely gonna make your jaw drop. Ben, Yes,
and that's one of them. But coming up next, we
have the numbers from the World Series. They're insane. And
you want two great hot takes or the Yankees and
the Dodgers. We get set for the Dodgers Parade. We
(16:16):
got it for you. Next right here, Jason and Mike

The Dodgers want.
Speaker 3 (17:01):
To strike away from a championship from a proper celebrations,
You're Doctors.
Speaker 1 (17:13):
Series, Big Fox on the Call A night ago the
Dodgers beat the Yankees in the World series.
Speaker 3 (17:23):
We talked about it a lot last night.
Speaker 1 (17:24):
Yeah, but first I want to say this, Tysher, this
is Harry Potter music. You're playing remix Harry Potter Halloween, Wizards,
Ghosts Harry Potter and Christmas.
Speaker 3 (17:36):
Harry Potter Halloween. I gotta be honest though, like I
didn't have my head and phone. I was reaching for
them as the music began and I heard the first
notes and I'm like, has he gotten Mariah Carey defrosted fully, No, We're.
Speaker 1 (17:51):
Gonna get us the most wonderful time of the year
next to you kidding.
Speaker 3 (17:56):
Wizards, And I mean, yes, there is the Christmas. Yeah, well, Chris,
it starts tomorrow, Halloween tonight, Christmas tomorrow, Tragedy tomorrow, Comedy tonight,
Sarah Potter's more Halloween though no, not at all. Does
people dress up as Harry Potter for Halloween, that is true,
but people dress up as they dress up as Left Shark.
I mean that's you know, okay, okay, how's it more Christmas?
(18:19):
Because it's just one of those things where over the years,
those movies have become more synonymous with the holidays. I
don't know why. They just have had a lot of
dope dressed up like Dodger fans, yes joy celebrating. You
would have thought it. I mean, I'm like, are people
dressing up today in Dodger uniforms here in LA because
they won? Or is this their Halloween costume? Like It's
hard to tell, but I thought I saw players were
(18:40):
walking around going, oh, look, there's Cofax, There's Drysdale, it's
Pedro Guerrero. Look at all these. I mean, it was.
It was an unbelievable day.
Speaker 1 (18:47):
The numbers of the World Series are in biggest most
watched world series, at least in the United States since
twenty seventeen. Yankees and Dodgers soar after a low last year,
which well, it happens when you have Yankees Dodgers versus
Diamondbacks and Rangers. Most watched game since Game seven and
(19:07):
twenty nineteen, the series averaged over sixteen million, But you
also want to add in it's about fifteen or sixteen
million in Japan as well, so worldwide, this World Series
was really really huge. Now with the parade tomorrow in LA,
I got something big for both teams, right something bigger bo.
(19:28):
Let's deal with the Yankees first, because I can make
Yankee fans feel better. Because I felt bad about my
dad because I sent him the picture today of how
Yankee Stadium with the spirit.
Speaker 3 (19:37):
Halloween on it. I kind of felt bad about that.
Speaker 1 (19:40):
I sent him the picture that someone put on social
media today of the picture of the last snap between
the Commanders and the Bears where.
Speaker 3 (19:47):
Over you know, the Yankees up five to nothing, Yeah,
where Stevenson Stevens and then Dodgers where Noah Brown is.
Speaker 1 (19:55):
Hey, you know it's I felt bad about that, so
I said, Okay, you know what, Dad, I feel bad
because he sent me a Felix Hunger tweet backers, what
Felix Hunger?
Speaker 3 (20:03):
Thanks Dad? Uh? And why is Felix Hunger? F and
you so.
Speaker 1 (20:07):
But this is the thing is that Yankee fans are
gonna walk away and they're gonna see that Rizzo Cole
play forever. They're gonna see Aaron Judge missing that line
drive forever. Even Judge said last night, if I make
that play, it's a different game.
Speaker 3 (20:20):
Yeah, probably, but they didn't. He also made a play
earlier man Aaron Judges back the home run, the catch
on Freeman's ball. But but look, this is where I
can make a Yankee fans because it's gonna be hard
because they're gonna see that all the way.
Speaker 1 (20:33):
But this is where I can make you feel better.
You lost in five games. This wasn't Game seven where
you had a five to nothing lead in the fifth
inning and you blew it. Even if you held on
to win, you would have to win two games in
Los Angeles this weekend. Not that it's impossible, right, but
what are the odds you're gonna do that? It's still
there's still so much the Yankees needed to do. You
were a bad defensive team. It's not like you made
(20:55):
uncharacteristically bad errors. No, this is who you've been.
Speaker 3 (21:01):
Hit the ball. You hit the ball on the ground,
Good things happen, right to what I always tell my team, Hey,
hit the ball on the ground, Good things happen. Right
get the ball on the ground, good things happen. What happened?
The Dodgers hit the ball and the Yankees couldn't field it.
But this is who they were. The Yankees are a
horrendous fielding team. They run the bases even worse than
they field. What they did was they played to their
level in the World Series. They weren't as bad running
(21:23):
the bases because they didn't get on base as much,
but they they were left standing there. They were never
actually in members. Their fielding was awful. They went as
far as they could before they were exposed. You can't
play that poorly in two important facets of the game
and expect to win the World Series. You're not gonna
out talent people in the World Series. You have an
incredibly talented roster with the Yankees, incredibly talented roster with
(21:45):
the Dodgers. The Dodgers were playing better. The Dodgers were
better top to bottom. They win the World Series in
five games. Yankees went as far as they could, right,
So I get eure upset about the errors. And yes,
it's difficult to watch and difficult to see because you
want to be thinking, maybe we should be playing tomorrow night.
But in the end, you lost in five games. It
wasn't seven games. It wasn't an error in the ninth
that you lost in five games. But it was all
(22:08):
fundamentals right when we break it down to brass tags.
We talked about that fifth inning where you and I
were on air just kind of looking at each other,
confused that while you expect some of those errors to
pop up normally, you don't get the sequencing like that.
Normally they're they're isolated incidents. Instead, this was all right,
(22:28):
everybody cashed out on their bad plays that were due,
but it also happened at the plate, and we called
out the Dodgers for very much the same thing in
terms of the lack of quality of bats. Both teams
were terrible with runners in scoring position in the series.
Yankees were one for ten in Game five. For the series,
I think they hit one to eighty or thereabouts one
(22:50):
eighty five, So you know, you had plenty of opportunities,
and they didn't get the base running because you know what,
there was a guy on the base in front of you,
so you didn't have that opportunity. But it was just
a comedy of errors in Game five really punctuated what
we've been waiting on going all the way back to
(23:10):
when the playoffs began, of wondering when it would show
its head, and a lot of conversation today centered around
just at that very point of you know, when would
it rear its head against the Dodgers team, which Dave
Roberts and the staff call it what you will, and
it was derided. Question. We did some of it on air,
(23:32):
because that's what you do, right, you're reacting and discussing
it in real time as it's playing out in terms
of high leverage, low leverage, back end, bullpen guys, all
of those things as to how you manage through. But
the one things that the Dodgers don't do is they
don't beat themselves right when it comes to fielding, taking
(23:52):
extra bases. Because we pointed that out. I think astutelee
throughout this series and everything they did, right, here's the
sacrifice fly. Okay, everybody's worried about the guy that ran
to home. That's great. What about the guy that went
from second to third to set up the next play? Yeah? Right.
It was all about a chess two moves ahead kind
(24:13):
of situation where the Dodgers, even though it was getting
a bit harry, you knew that it wasn't gonna be
because of some lack of concentration where suddenly they were
ill prepared for a situation.
Speaker 1 (24:26):
So if you understand that about the Yankees, it's easier
to stomach. Yeah, we lost, We threw up on ourselves.
But that's kind of how we do it now. For
the Dodgers, this is where this is incredible for them,
and it's really bad news for the other twenty nine
teams because yes, we're the best team in baseball. Yes
they were, but they won this World Series with two
(24:46):
big things going against them, won all the pitching injuries
that they had to go to these bullpen games. They
didn't want to go to these bullpen games. This is
why you went out and gave Tyler Glasno all that money.
Guess what, he was injured. He wasn't able to do it.
Speaker 3 (25:00):
Johyo Todd.
Speaker 1 (25:00):
He guess what we knew he wasn't going to pitch
this year and now he's not gonna pitch again until
next year. But you're looking at him to come back
next year. You had so many players you were banking on.
You were banking on the return of Walker Bueller. Guess what,
he was bad. You finally, luckily you discovered him at
the end of the season. Now he's going to be
a free agent. You thought, Clayton Kershaw, Hey, what do
we get him out of number three?
Speaker 4 (25:19):
Guy?
Speaker 3 (25:19):
No, he was hurt. He missed the entire playoffs.
Speaker 1 (25:22):
They won this World Series with a pitching staff that
was duct tape and glue and try to just piece
stuff together, which is a real dangerous thing for the
other twenty nine teams to know that, Hey, they went
into this World Series and into the playoffs with two starters,
and one.
Speaker 3 (25:40):
Was at the end. One could only pitch one game
in a series and then he was done. That was
Jack Flaherty. Hey he's good for one game, but then
he's getting knocked out in the second game. Yamamoto was good,
and then it was we don't.
Speaker 1 (25:49):
Know what we have and they still win despite the
fact that their pitching was terrible, which is really bad
because next year, you know, it's not going to be
The odds are going to tell you and the math
will tell you, Hey, it's not going to be quite
like this. They're gonna get some of their injured guys back,
or they're going to get players.
Speaker 3 (26:04):
Who are not going to be injured like this. This
is the once in a lifetime thing. Yeah, I mean
all of that to say, I mean that is the
one part of the Dodgers from an organization standpoint, as
great as this run has been this last decade plus,
running rough shot in Division this year, despite all the injuries,
despite these long lapses of ineffectiveness by some of your stars,
(26:26):
right Dave Roberts addressed it in the postgame. You know,
Mookie Betts was hearing all about it. In the final
weeks of the season, we saw Shoeo Tani go off
to record home run and stolen base, you know, in tandem,
partially because someone needed to give them a spark right
in stealing bases, put runners in scoring position, helped juice
(26:47):
things for the other hitters. But the fun amount and
we did this with the NFL too, with the Ravens
and the Charge. What the hell's in the training? Like?
What in the development? Like there's something missing for all
the stuff that's right, they do suffer an inordinate number
of injuries year after year on the pitching side of thing.
(27:09):
By the way, also shout out Clayton Kershoff for looking
like every man in America. Thank you.
Speaker 1 (27:13):
Oh, he had definitely had a retired body. He's like,
whoa do shows coming back next? Looks like you've got
it all ready to retire. He's got months, he'll be back,
he'll be ready to go. Hey, by the way, for
that celebration tomorrow, tickets sold out in less than five minutes, right,
so they're gonna go through the parade route end up
at Dodger Stadium. You want to guess what the get
in is right now?
Speaker 3 (27:31):
On the secondary market, ooh, four hundred dollars. You're at
five hundred and thirty five dollars. Plus you could get
into the parking lot for thirty five bucks. Maybe you
can steak get that around. But yeah, the get in
for a celebration of a bunch of guys saying blankety
blank to the critics and to twenty twenty criticism. Five
(27:52):
hundred and thirty bucks. Now, the other part for the
Dodgers that is again bad news for the twenty nine
teams in Major League Baseball. Is one thing we've seen
from the Dodgers the past decade is their farm system
just continues to throw superstars out there, whether it's Corey
Seeger to Max Muncy, and they just keep rolling them
(28:13):
out to Will Smith. Everybody comes up, everybody hits three
point fifty, they turn into stars. They did it this
year without big stars breaking through like they have. They
did this by hey, we had to go signed to
Oscar Hernandez because some of our guys aren't ready at
this point.
Speaker 1 (28:31):
Gavin Lux is kind of just a guy. He's gone
past from being hey, he's a great prospect to okay,
someone who can play some innings. You know, Andy Pajez
came up this year, but is he a star somebody
who can play innings. They relied on Tommy Edmond, who
you get in a trade, who was just a guy
until the NLCS came, and then he was the best
player in baseball.
Speaker 3 (28:48):
So the Dodgers did this. The Dodgers did this.
Speaker 1 (28:52):
Without getting anything from It's not like they were a
combination of, Hey, here's all our great players we sign
in free agency or make trades for, and our homegrown guys.
Speaker 3 (29:01):
Didn't have any homegrown guys, but they're on the way.
You know, you got you.
Speaker 1 (29:04):
Got guys like Josuaye Depaula and Dalton Rushing who were
coming up. And Rushing has been he was a catcher,
but now he may play a different position because of
Will Smith and de Paula might wind up being a big,
heavy hitting outfielder.
Speaker 3 (29:15):
He's moving up like they have a couple of big
time guys that are on their way. So it's not like, well, hey,
the Dodger farm system always No, No, it was just
a year or two of not quite as good, And
in a year or two of not quite as good,
they still won the World Series. Two more quick ones.
First off, the excitement and exuberation of Yamamoto and Shoho
(29:35):
Tani being around that team. The gudea nor exuberation, exuberration, exuberance, exuberance, exuberations.
I think I went. I went for exhilaration and I
kind of bastardized it and mushed it exuberation. No, now
did you mean exuberant? Yeah, okay, sorry, sorry, I got
caught up in that exuberation little faster in the head.
(29:58):
But just the idea that you got the those guys
that had a blast and shoe Otani loved every minute
of this season once you got started right, So internationally,
any players looking to come to the States, you start
getting into bidding wars, whatever what else wins out Los
Angeles Marketplace, melting pot. Oh, and you're gonna have a
chance to win every year, and these guys are happy.
(30:19):
The other part, does EPEG get a ring?
Speaker 4 (30:22):
Ah?
Speaker 3 (30:23):
The odds on EPE getting a ring? Right? Sorry? Too
soon for that.
Speaker 1 (30:26):
Nic Well play exit out by a Fresca exit swalling
down The Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmon Love from
the Tirec dot Com Studios. Time not to find out
what's trending from a guy who once was the number
three prospect in the Dodger system. It's Steve de Sager
with what's trending.
Speaker 4 (30:44):
By the way, things like playoff shares, of course, get
voted on by the team in their last meeting together
before everyone goes their separate ways. I'm guessing that name
won't come up as for playoffs probably probably not. By
the way Fanatics says, Dodger fans have set a sales
record for first hour sales of team merch right after
they win a World Series, and Fanatics has had the
(31:05):
official retail license for most of the North American leagues
for more than a decade, But the Dodger fans went nuts,
In fact, broke the sales record that the Dodger fans
themselves had set after the twenty twenty one twenty twenty
World Series when they won their And.
Speaker 1 (31:21):
To no one's surprised, the hottest selling jersey in baseball
is Tommy Edmond.
Speaker 4 (31:26):
Actually, to no one surprised, it was so Tony stuff
was number one and Freeman stuff was number two.
Speaker 3 (31:32):
But with the Yankees just.
Speaker 4 (31:34):
Destroying that fifth innk shall we say yesterday and losing
it home, for all of these things to happen in
the same ballgame, this had never happened in the majors.
A bak, a catcher's interference, committing at least three errors
in the game, allowing five hundred runs, blowing a five
run lead, all of that in the same game had
never happened playoffs or regular season ever, going back over
(31:56):
a century in Major League.
Speaker 1 (31:57):
Basically, you know what you know you kind of remind
me of this a little bit, is that, you know,
coaching youth softball as I did, to get a lot
of games and we play tournaments, they always play like
the first four innings five runs of the most runs
you can score. Then the inning ends because they want
to be able to keep the games on time. So
you don't wait because because then you get games that
are like, you know, twenty three to twenty one. I
felt like after the fifth inning, like seeing all the errors,
(32:19):
like Aaron Boon.
Speaker 3 (32:20):
Okay, guys, that's five, let's go. That's fine. Inning's over,
Let's go. We got to hit. Now, the Dodgers got
five let's go Rizzo orange slices now.
Speaker 4 (32:29):
Yes, the Dodgers victory parade is tomorrow through downtown LA.
And then there's that ticketed celebration in their stadium. The
media have already been told you can cover one or
the other, but there is no chance you're gonna be
able to make your way from one to the other,
even though Dodger Stadium is not that far from downtown
Los Angeles. And some of the courthouses have been shut
(32:50):
down for tomorrow. If you have jury duty at some
of the places, that's a no go.
Speaker 3 (32:53):
Sheriff's office is closed. Yeah, I heard you can light
a bus on fire for free. Okay, we'll move on.
Speaker 4 (32:58):
The Braves have traded to if the dh and I
guess they're calling min outfielder still Jorge Celaire to the Angels.
Bob Costas is retiring from baseball play by play after
over forty years. The late game is not in Downtown
LA anymore. The Clippers are in Englewood at their new
arena now, and they'd blown a lead and what do
you know, it's now just about an even game with
(33:21):
the Phoenix Suns. Effect Sons have just taken a one
point lead. It's one eight, one seven with about three
minutes to go. In this one, Memphis rit Milwaukee won
twenty two to ninety nine as Damian Lillard was one
of twelve shooting from the floor. San Antonio and Houston
with wins, and the Jets ended a five game losing
streak beating the Texans twenty one thirteen. Wide receiver DeVante Adams,
(33:45):
after he had been evaluated for a concussion, re entered
the game, had a late TD catch Aaron Rodgers three
touchdown passes in the second half, two to Garrett Wilson.
And this from Associated Press, who was the last player
like CJ. Stroud tonight to be sad at least eight
times that only complete eight passes in a game.
Speaker 3 (34:03):
Oel Jones, Daniel Jones, Zach Wilson.
Speaker 4 (34:05):
At the end of the twenty twenty one see.
Speaker 3 (34:09):
You, Thank you, Steve.
Speaker 1 (34:10):
The Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Carmon
will have more.
Speaker 3 (34:15):
NFL coming up in a bit.
Speaker 1 (34:17):
But straight ahead, do we have a basketball story for you?
How would you like to coach the best player in
the game? Oh yea kinda might.
Speaker 3 (34:27):
Get your chance let's go. That's Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (34:31):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific, Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (34:40):
The Jason Smith Show with My best friend Mike Harmony.
Speaker 3 (34:43):
Happy Halloween. If you get the email sides from them,
Mumbo do no answer.
Speaker 1 (34:52):
An incredible night in the NFL. Two plays you have
to hear and hear us talk about to believe.
Speaker 2 (34:57):
That's Malacott Corley as.
Speaker 5 (34:59):
He got into the end zone dropped the football.
Speaker 1 (35:03):
Yeah, so there's that, and we have Garrett Wilson's catch.
We'll get both of those plays and break them down
for you in about ten minutes. However, let's talk for
a couple minutes about who might be the first head
coach in the NBA to get fired. Oh boy, that
is because this was the result of a big game
(35:25):
tonight in the NBA where Ja Morant goes for a
triple double and well the Bucks.
Speaker 5 (35:32):
Rollin Smiths the first made the second, so the Grizzlies
will hold the Bucks under one hundred one two ninety nine.
Grizzlies get the win tonight. Zero's on the Clock. Streamers
from the Raptors. The Halloween battle between the Grizs and
Fucks is won by the Boys in Blue.
Speaker 1 (35:50):
So there was Bucks Radio Network on the call. The
Bucks fall to one and four. It is their worst
start in fourteen years. Now, there's three players, three people
who are gonna wind up getting a lot of the
blame for this. Right, it's gonna be honest, and it's
gonna be Lillard, and it's gonna be Doc Rivers. And
when I put those three out there, the first two
(36:10):
don't count because Yanni's obviously is the centerpiece of the franchise.
He's still the best all around player in the game.
I mean, Wemby will get there sometime by mid season,
but look, he's in there for three more years. He
can opt out the dangers of yannas saying I want out.
Not gonna happen, right, player option not for another three years.
Speaker 3 (36:29):
They traded for.
Speaker 1 (36:30):
Damian Lillard, who was still close to the Damian Lillard
that he was with Portland. Obviously, he's got to figure
things out a little bit better. But things have not
been as smooth as you thought they would be. Right, Wow,
Lillard and and Yanna should have been taken over the
East well, so they fired the head coach last year,
bring in Doc Rivers. That didn't happen. The Bucks were
not really good. Doc Rivers did not come in and
(36:51):
change anything. But all right, we have the off season
coming up here and we see what happens new start
to a season and here there are one and four
blown out against the Grizzlies. Doc Rivers isn't making it
till Christmas. Right, It's at some point something's going to happen.
You can't watch this team trend in the wrong direction
for much longer. And Doc Rivers had you half a
year last year. Now you have this year. They're not
(37:13):
gonna go All Star Break in February. Then we're gonna
make a change. No, they are gonna get out there
and they are gonna do something. And it's not going
to go past Christmas if they are still struggling like this,
watching teams like the Knicks and the Celtics that are
still making big news in the in the East. Big
Bodega now is filling has fitting really well with the Knicks.
We're waiting for Joel Andbid to get back with the
(37:34):
new look seventy six ers. They're not gonna fall that
far behind. Doc is not going to make it to Christmas.
Speaker 3 (37:40):
The new look seventy six ers Jewell and Be comes back. Yeah,
because you don't have Joel and Be right now, the
new look is when he comes back. Well, he's already
promised us he won't play every day. Uh so we
got that going for us.
Speaker 5 (37:54):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (37:54):
Look, they've been blown out four times eleven, thirteen, eleven,
and today twenty three. So you're you're not playing any
kind of cohesive basketball styles. Don't mesh between Giannis and
Lillard Portois. You mix him in and and sometimes it
gets very clunky. And obviously we know Doc's track record,
(38:16):
and he took over mid season last year. Be honest,
we've got to assume somewhat of a power play to
make that happen. And here we are after the trade.
They're just another also ran squad looking up. And even
with all those years on the contract, it's not unprecedented. Buddy,
he could be a nick before Chris Haul Who Doc, Yeah,
(38:39):
I'm on Tims's bench. Hey what do you think we?
Speaker 5 (38:41):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (38:42):
Wait, wait, I got some ideas, I got some Wait wait,
why don't you call on me? You never call on me,
You never let me say anything in the huddle. Why
can't I speak? I don't think Mike was saying on
Tims's bench.
Speaker 1 (38:52):
Stuff exit, up, out of Fresco, exit, swalling, dumb telling
you Milwaukee doctors ain't making until Christmas. Coming up next,
two plays from Thursday Night Football. You have to hear
and hear us break down to believe it is must
listen radio. Next, Jason and Mike Fox Sports Radio.
