have the Mets right now. I clearly don't have the Jets.
I have the Mets right now.
Speaker 3 (00:56):
So you found allens in the fore Yes, I have
you and yah, yeah, but got to be higher. I
mean on that, come on the Mets. Yeah, I mean
it's a million times and this was expected of the Jets.
Speaker 1 (01:07):
It's a jet, yes, yeah, I mean like you're talking
about Week six for the Jets versus the Mets are.
Speaker 3 (01:12):
In the NLCY. Remember we had that kid, Bob all
those years ago. That was Bob is forty years old though.
Speaker 4 (01:19):
But we had that sound drop. So, I mean, what
do you expect.
Speaker 5 (01:23):
I tell you guys, For those who don't know Bob,
he lived in Kansas City.
Speaker 3 (01:27):
Yeah, that he's chief saholic.
Speaker 4 (01:31):
Wow, we drove him to a life of crime.
Speaker 5 (01:37):
What if I were to tell you, I mean, we.
Speaker 4 (01:39):
Did spur on the ultimate fandom?
Speaker 3 (01:42):
Oh, I remember when Bob? Would we have Bob on
the show? He was he was eleven years old, He's
graduated college. Now, we would never reckon Bob could call him,
we'd never recognize him.
Speaker 5 (01:51):
And he knew more about football than you did, Jason.
He knew the Jets sucked.
Speaker 1 (01:55):
We well, you think you think I don't know that
step is Listen, I'm gonna be honest with you. After
the Jets lost this game, because we got we got
more of the Mets coming up, and we'll bring you
Aaron Rodgers. He's getting ready to meet the media following
this Jets loss. They lose in just in a very
Jets way, right, very Jets way. They missed two field
(02:16):
goals in the fourth quarter that could have won the game.
They the final play that looks like it could potentially
be a huge deal, Mike Williams falls down. Instead of
a forty yard game, it's an interception. The Bills run
out the clock, and the Jets, new coach Knew Everything,
are still the same old Jets. And I do this
the let every time because now the Jets, and the
(02:38):
Jets have gotten through the first part of the season
that was supposed to be the easy part, and it's
incredibly difficult in their two and four and they stink
every time I see Aaron Rodgers on the sideline at
the end of a game, like when I know they're
gonna lose, like the end of the Vikings game, or
the or the Broncos game or this game, I just
see him on the sideline and I'm staying because they
keep showing him obviously, and I'm trying to read his thoughts.
(02:59):
And this makes me think that, you know what I
always say, my my best job if I wasn't on
the air, was I'd be able to be a great
guy in pr I give great PR and and also
and also advertising, I'd be an advertising copywriter. I'd make
millions of dollars at that because I have new ideas
every five seconds. But now I think I can be
a medium. I think now I can really be a
(03:19):
legit like Whoopy Goldberg and ghost like medium and and
and uh and and Oda Mae Brown Uh medium because
I can. I think I can tell what Aaron Rodgers
is thinking on the sideline at the end of every
game after he has a he has a day throwing
the football, getting hit, seeing what life is like as
(03:40):
a Jet. I just look at him and I think
he's thinking the same thing. Is this really worth it?
Speaker 3 (03:49):
Is this? Is this really worth it? I pushed my
way out of Green Bay. Now they also pushed me
back to push me out, but I pushed my way
out of green and I come to the Jets. The Jets,
and I thought it was going to be new, and
I thought it was going to be different. And then
(04:09):
I get hurt last year and I missed the entire
year because you know, Jets. And I come back this
year and I'm healthy and we're two and four and
they lose games in such sickingly weird ways that I
never lost a game like this in Green Bay my
entire life? Is this really worth it? Is?
Speaker 1 (04:31):
Do I need another darkness retreat that I just don't
come back from that. I just leave and you don't
know where I am. And I'm a son Reddick. I'm gone.
You're not gonna Every time I look into his eyes
and I'd see him going.
Speaker 3 (04:43):
Is this worth it? Is this worth it? That's what
I think when I see Aaron Rodgers. Well, now you
come back off a short week, You'll have Sunday night
football at Pittsburgh.
Speaker 1 (04:54):
Can't we just have a game where we just play
an anonymously, then you play the following killing and then
after the Patriots game, you got.
Speaker 3 (05:04):
A Thursday that affair on Halloween against the Texans. You
host them there at the House of Horrors, that is
at Life Stay. We're gonna get killed in that game.
We're gonna get parching up and down. We're gonna get no. No,
that's the one where you get some really weird ass win.
And all of a sudden it was like, can Aaron
Rodgers lead the Jets again? But to all of it,
it's just it was an odd night. Certainly, every time
(05:28):
we see those memeable when isn't it an odd. Don't
tell me when isn't it an odd night for the Jets.
It's every when is it.
Speaker 4 (05:36):
A normal night?
Speaker 3 (05:36):
Everything? It's almost no, you've lost in normal fashion movie.
It's always not. Not many times, not many times.
Speaker 6 (05:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (05:45):
The loss to the Vikings, that was in London, I
mean the Broncos, well what that doesn't count. It was
in London because it was in London. It was an
entire portion of the world got to see it. Who
would never get to see that? Yeah, I mean, I'm
not it was good. Sam Donald stunk and we still
the game against the Broncos was one of that that's
(06:05):
like number two seventy out of two seventy two.
Speaker 5 (06:08):
It wasn't Sam Donald who's stunk. Uh, clearly Yeah.
Speaker 4 (06:12):
Uh. That win against the Patriots, I mean that was
the high point. Go back, he beat the Titans.
Speaker 3 (06:17):
Court of Guards.
Speaker 4 (06:19):
You lost to the forty nine ers going back to
week one.
Speaker 3 (06:21):
But you know, it's kind of played out to this
point as expected. I just think Aaron Rodgers, I'm gonna
start teaming him up with random still shots from Shameless
and every other time we've had sal Sad Bill Macy
on on the screen. It's worth it Jason, is this worth?
How are you riding the ship? Your next game is
(06:41):
at the Steelers. Yeah, I know, and they actually have
a really good pass rush. Wow, guys, we can't. We couldn't.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
We couldn't stop Josh Allen from running and keeping plays extended.
Justin Field's gonna say, I'm gonna set the all time
record for rushing yards by a quarterback in the game.
Speaker 3 (06:57):
Yeah, I'm gonna do that.
Speaker 5 (06:58):
I'm ready, man.
Speaker 4 (06:59):
So I mean, he do get the Patriots, but Drake
may look pretty good.
Speaker 3 (07:03):
It doesn't matter.
Speaker 4 (07:03):
It doesn't matter.
Speaker 3 (07:05):
It doesn't matter. Now I ask you this because this
this is to me. It's a serious question.
Speaker 1 (07:08):
Now, a serious question, because I just gotta again, I
gotta keep thinking about the Mets's but the two fan
bases in the NFL that I feel.
Speaker 3 (07:17):
Cheese, that you feel bad for, that I feel the
worst for and all. By the way, now, my dog
knows cheese. He knows the word cheese, so he's like, oh,
every time he knows it, he says he can say cheese,
and he goes cheese. No, when I say he has
become Baxter.
Speaker 4 (07:34):
If it's not even mad.
Speaker 5 (07:36):
I'll kick him over a bridge.
Speaker 1 (07:39):
No, like if I say things like if you want
to treat, he knows what treat is. It does something.
But if I pull, if I pull cheese out of
GIVEM a little bit of cheese, he likes it. But
now he knows that word. Because if Pam said, what
are gonna do this, I'm gonna ask some cheese and crackers.
He's up and he walks over to me at the
kitchen because I heard the word cheese.
Speaker 2 (07:56):
He said cheese.
Speaker 1 (07:57):
I'm gonna have to It's like, now we gotta speak
in code. I gotta say things that I can't say.
Walk I can't say anything. Let's take him for a jaunt.
Let's let's do that. Let's have some past your eyes
yellow product on on some on.
Speaker 3 (08:11):
Some crackers right now, because he's like, I don't know
what that is, geez, I know what Jesus is that?
Look the Jets, the Jets fan base, I mean, look,
nobody deserves what that what that's been going on, but
this is what we get. But I compare that right
now to the Browns fan base because for a while,
the Browns signing Deshaun Watson bad Guy, coming off a
(08:34):
horrendous controversy that was never really absolved, and you see
more stuff is happening. Uh, it was easy to just
ignore the Browns and ignore the friend.
Speaker 1 (08:44):
You want to spend money on a guy that was
accused of all of these things that he did and
and and and you want to give him guaranteed money.
Speaker 3 (08:50):
Come on, man. But now after seeing just how bad.
Speaker 1 (08:55):
It is for the Browns and the second week in
a row that Deshaun wants has been med and to hear,
I mean not the second week.
Speaker 3 (09:03):
Always been mad.
Speaker 1 (09:03):
He's been bad since they signed him, but the second
week in a row he has been mad. And Kevin
Stefanski has come out after the game and said he's
staying our starting quarterback because he gives us the best
chance to win.
Speaker 3 (09:14):
Full there's no way, there's no way he believes it. No,
they look it's like a hostage because the brown season's over,
right and more over than the Jets. And the thing is,
the Browns roster is pretty good, but it's over because
most likely Jimmy Hassel, I'm paying Deshaun Watson, so we're
gonna play him. And it's like, dude, what are you doing? Man?
(09:35):
Do you know anything about what the NFL is like?
There's no way. Kevin Stefanski comes to the press conference saying, yes,
he's our best guy. Look at the Panthers. At least
the Panthers are competitive. They change from Bryce Young to
Andy Dalton. Is that embarrassing, Yes, because he's a guy
that was taking number one overall? But are the Panthers
more competitive every week? Yes? Are they scoring more points? Yes?
If you went to if you went from Deshaun Watson
(09:56):
and Jamis Winston, would you score more points one hundred percent?
Would you put a bit of energy into the team
one hundred percent? Would you not lose the team? Who's
gonna just quit? Because if you keep saying DeShawn Watson
is our best option, they're gonna say I'm done? Why
am I? Why am I going crazy? And you talk
about seasons can get ugly really fast, it'll get ugly
or in Cleveland, like, I get that you're stuck with
(10:16):
Deshaun Watson. I understand you. Are you paid the money,
that's you. You don't have to play him, right, I
mean you're paying him. Yes, you don't have to play him.
You can play somebody else. You can figure out the
money in the offseason. You can figure out some way
to move on. You're not gonna get great play from him.
How long has he played? Now? How long have you
had him?
Speaker 1 (10:37):
I get that he's hurt sometimes in and out of line,
but he's been bad since he came back. He has
not shown you any sort of glimpses that, hey, he's
gonna get it.
Speaker 3 (10:46):
He I mean, he's been playing for a long time. Man,
he had long time off, he signed his contract. He
doesn't care. And yet still when.
Speaker 1 (10:54):
The head coach comes out and says he gives us
the best chance to win, what are you doing? If
I'm a Browns fan, I go, you know what, why
don't even watch the games? Why do I even watch
these games? I'm gonna go, I'm gonna go do something else.
Speaker 3 (11:04):
You'd rather be bad and just know there's not even
a hey, we can turn the page, because look, the
distasteful part of the Deshaun Watson off field stuff is
always gonna be there. It's always gonna linger, and maybe
it pushes it his play and inadequacy of his play
and pushes it a little bit further because it's like,
(11:26):
not only you're harboring whatever went on in all of
these different instances, you've got a guy that can't play,
so it's bad headlines all over.
Speaker 4 (11:36):
But you have a guy. I don't know that Jameis
Winston's gonna be any better.
Speaker 3 (11:40):
I don't know that QB three or the guy that
you sign off the streets gonna be any better. But
at this point, you know, damn well, Deshaun Watson A
isn't any good and B it doesn't seem like he
really cares because that check is gonna clear every week.
And Stefanski goes from being coach of the Year he's
now the third favorite to be the next coach fire
(12:00):
at plus five. Why would you fire the guy?
Speaker 1 (12:02):
He's doing exactly what Jimmy hasim wants him to do,
which is you play him because I'm paying them money
and you go out there and say he's our guy.
Speaker 4 (12:09):
No, And so he's got to have six guns.
Speaker 3 (12:11):
At some point, he's got to have the guts to
just say, like this, we're not doing this anymore because
it's a disservice to the rest of those guys. And
I mean the fan base obviously, always for the fans.
Think of the fans, the fans, what about the fans.
I'm not about the fans blank the fans of this
you haven't you have a responsibility to the guys of
that locker.
Speaker 4 (12:30):
Room who are laying it on the line.
Speaker 3 (12:33):
And we see so many instances of it's a matter
of inches between your career being ended.
Speaker 4 (12:39):
Versus a clean hit.
Speaker 3 (12:40):
Right, that's what we talk about in this game, and
being in the edges all the time that you're watching.
This was another winnable game, right, you lose twenty to sixteen,
you go back to the offseason, you basically had to
let Joe Flacco go because you couldn't have him in
the room. Yeah, right, Yeah, and look what indying it's
(13:01):
a larger question if we had more time, and we're
doing a long expository piece with lock and for one
of the questions I wanted to ask him was do
you really think Richardson's hurt this much? Or did they
just realize that maybe they can make the back end
of the playoffs with Joe Flacco? Right, and you see
what they're doing. So Peterson's the leader. Nobody's surprised there
(13:23):
for another week in London. They've got the Patriots this
week in a game that you and I looked at
before the show, and saw that the over under was
forty three and just started laughing. Mike McCarthy next at
four to one, Stefanski at five and a half to one,
Pierce sitting at six to one, which is kind of interesting. Raiders,
Come on, I Raiders. Does that mean that Mark Davis
(13:44):
is already trying to get Diane and Shador as a package.
But anyway, the point just being that, Yeah, for Cleveland
right now, Haslam, it's it's it's sunk money, right, It's
a sunk cost. At this point, you don't have to
sink your your football field team on the field as well.
I mean the Jets and the Browns fan bases. I
(14:06):
mean I don't know, and I'm I'm member one of them.
It's it's really hard. You know.
Speaker 1 (14:10):
This is where I say I understand when when I
talk to fans who are older than I am, like
Jets fans who are older than I am, who are
in their sixties or seventies, whatever it is.
Speaker 3 (14:20):
And it used to be huge football.
Speaker 1 (14:22):
Fans where I just go, oh, hey the Jets, and
they just go, yeah, I don't really watch anymore. What
do you mean, Ah, I just it's go yeah, I
don't really watch any more because they've just had enough. Right,
this is ten years longest streak in North America not
making the playoffs, and it's ten years of suckitude more
than that, and it's like everybody makes the playoffs at
least once over a ten year span, and when you
(14:44):
can't get close, I understand when fans go, you know what,
why am I doing this? I just want to root
for a team that brings me happiness, So I'm gonna
I'm just gonna not watch again. I'll watch the national
game on Sunday and be excited when I see the
Cowboys and the Lions, whatever it is. But I really
I understand when when older fans go, I'm just done.
I got better things to do on Sunday than watch
this team and just get frustrated and watch it, watch
(15:05):
it play for because you think about it, it's a
TV show. How often would you continue to watch a
TV show if the TV show was bad? Eventually would go?
Speaker 3 (15:13):
You know what?
Speaker 1 (15:13):
This TV show used to be used to watch all
the time, I'm done watching it. I could run through
a list of them done. I could run through a
list of them that got extra seasons because people were
too dumb. To go Away exit out about a Fresca
exit swollen down The Jason Smith's with Mike Carmon. What
did Aaron Rodgers have to say following the Jets loss? Oh,
we got it for you, coming up next right here,
So must listen Jason and Mike.
Speaker 3 (15:34):
Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (15:36):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (15:47):
Fox Sports Radio. The Jason Smith Show with My best
friend Mike Harmon. Yeah, Live from the Tireck dot Com Studios.
The Jets lose Monday Night Football, Bill's win, Jets miss
a couple of field goals, Let's get called for a
lot of penalties, Bills get called for a lot of penalties.
A very Jet specific loss tonight for the Jets who
(16:07):
followed two and four. And I'm telling you, I'm scared
for what's to come. I mean like I'm Ebendezer Scrooge
and someone's waking me up in my stocking cap telling
me this is what the rest of the season will be. Oh,
you are the coast of Christmas future. You are the
one I'm scared of the most.
Speaker 4 (16:22):
You just skipped right past Halloween, Thanksgiving.
Speaker 3 (16:27):
Yeah, no, I got right to just like Costco, I
go right to Christmas, right to Christmas. Depending on where
you're at, it's day or Indigenous people's day to day,
right to Christmas, straight to Christmas holiday, holiday holiday.
Speaker 1 (16:40):
So what about Aaron Rodgers, who I told you FW
minutes ago. Every time I see him on camera, I
keep thinking he's thinking, why am I doing this? Why
am I doing this with the Jets. Let's listen to
his press conference right now here. He is a very
frustrated Aaron Rodgers about tonight.
Speaker 7 (16:59):
Listen. It's fine. So that did a good job. You know,
we did a couple of different things, but anything they
called a good game, and we just didn't extcute very well.
I know they weren't all your side of the well obviously.
If Hughes talked a little bit about the pattal days time, yeah,
it seemed a lotle ridiculous. Yeah, some of them seemed
(17:20):
really bad, including the rough in the passer around me,
and that's not rough in the passer. I was what,
I play star cast the ball. We're going to call
those things? And I thought the one on Kin Long
was not rough in the passer either, So.
Speaker 1 (17:35):
All right dropped right there for a second. I'm glad
he's honest. Hey wasn't rough in the passer. Look, it
was the game. The thing about this game, outside of
the outcome and the Jets and Rogers, the game was
unwatchable because the.
Speaker 3 (17:47):
Officials through that.
Speaker 4 (17:49):
There's no page there.
Speaker 1 (17:51):
There's got to be times when you keep the flag
in your pocket because if a play is fifty to fifty,
or if it's interference but the ball is uncatchable, or
it's kind of an if it's kind of an ify
holding call, you gotta let the players play. Like this is.
This was absolutely unwatchable and it's not a product that
the NFL wants out there. Twenty two penalties called in
(18:12):
the game, like the.
Speaker 4 (18:13):
Final score is ast accepted Jill's.
Speaker 1 (18:15):
Twenty three officials twenty two Jets twenty like that that
was the final score. You can't, you can't, it was.
It was absolutely unwatchable. And I'm saying for both stamps.
I'm not saying all the Jets got screwed.
Speaker 3 (18:26):
No, there were bad calls made throughout the game, and
there were, you know, some calls obviously, yes, you can't
let penalties go, but there's there's probably five or five
or six or seven, you know, when you're talking about
coming back for each team, where okay, you keep the
flag in your pocket on that, and there's stuff that
wasn't even accepted. You have, you had pen you had penalties?
(18:46):
How many penalties were offsetting? Yeah, where there was at
least two penalties that were off saying, that's four more
flags that don't count because the down goes over. So
that's four more flags that were out there that okay,
really throwing the flag in it like this is not
at all the product the NFL wants out there. And
it was really again, it was unwatchable, not just because
the chets were on getting that funny, but it was
(19:09):
it was unwatchable because of that. Yeah, it's it just
becomes a disjointed lack of flow, and then you're trying
to figure out where the line is right the plays
that that you don't get flagged for, like where where's
the line in the sand as to what constitutes a
holding penalty both on the offensive line in the interior
versus what's happening out on the edge. Because you saw
(19:31):
several big plays, you know, Garrett Wilson and others where
they're getting mugged and they're not getting getting the call. Conversely,
on the the the Bills receivers going downfield, you get
the touch foil, it's like, all right, where are we
at here? And you had Richard Sherman and so many
others start talking about how things were being adjudicated in
(19:52):
the secondary obviously where they made their money and made
their bones. But but it just becomes difficult as a
play caller and trying to figure out, all right, what
are we gonna do? Kin Law gets called for the
talking to the official and being disrespectful. I mean, like
what did he say? Like I need to know exactly,
Like what are the magic words?
Speaker 1 (20:13):
You got to really say something? I mean, what are
you saying? Is going to get that flag thrown on you?
Speaker 7 (20:17):
Right?
Speaker 3 (20:17):
So he gets a fifteen yard or on that, So
you know, you're you're just kind of rolling through and
you're playing with emotion and the stoppages in play become infuriating.
Speaker 1 (20:27):
That I mean, that's how bad it was for this
game tonight. For but it was absolutely unwatchable. Let's pick
up some more. Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 7 (20:35):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (20:35):
After the officiating question, he was.
Speaker 7 (20:39):
Emtry police, what was breaking down the rads? Nothing? We
had chances walking to Samon Braylan and we had a
phantom holding call. Had a chance with g twice. Tell
we had our.
Speaker 1 (20:57):
Chances thready got to had the ball, the chance to
take the leaders, and he didn't do it.
Speaker 5 (21:03):
I mean, how frustrated I was at that vehicle.
Speaker 7 (21:06):
And I'm here to win those games. But we gotta
be on her, on her details. You know, it's little
things every single time.
Speaker 3 (21:15):
Yel Mary, what do you what do you see in there?
Speaker 7 (21:18):
I decided to rust two guys, so we had all
day to do it. Actually threw it a little bit
right of where I wanted it, trying to throw between
the hashes. The wind was, you know, a little swarly
at night that there's a lot of justling. And then
saw Alan come down with It's pretty good feeling. Can
you throw over the past? Mike Williams of The Philosopher
(21:39):
was picked off? Yeah, what about it?
Speaker 3 (21:41):
Just I mean, what specifically did you see on the throw?
Speaker 2 (21:44):
How would you throw up?
Speaker 7 (21:45):
There's two verticals, you know, Allen's down the scene, MIC's
down the red line. So I'm looking at all and
he puts his hand up three guys ago with him,
so I'm throwing another look to the red line, and
when I just peek my eyes back there, he's when
an inndbreaker, So it's gotta be down the red line.
Speaker 5 (22:05):
So we're used rowing that's to come back to it.
Speaker 7 (22:08):
No, I was thrown to the red line, but when
I got about here, I realized he was running inndbreaker,
so I had to kind of adjust it a little bit.
But the play is two guys vertical, one guy down
and seeing one guy in the red.
Speaker 3 (22:19):
Line, and it's it's not really early anymore in the
season that two and four. Is there concern about being
able to get this turned around before it's too late?
Speaker 7 (22:28):
Well, I think there's concern, but that's important, you know,
we need to we need to get going. This was
a goal opportunity. Some games you win in the NFL
and some games you give away. This was a giveaway.
I mean we were terrible in the red zone, missed
two field goals, didn't convert on a you know, two
minute drive with plenty of chances, had the momentum, had
(22:51):
good drives, moved them all up and down the field
so disappointing.
Speaker 1 (22:55):
Yeah, in other words, in other words, I'm learning what
it really means for the New York Jets.
Speaker 3 (23:01):
Well, but boy, all my friends warned me. They told me,
and I was like, no, it's great. It's New York.
Are gonna be good. They have a good roster. Garrett
Wilson's really good, dude. It's the Jets man forty years.
I'm no, man, it's gonna be awesome. Oh no, I'm
realizing that. Boy, the Jets.
Speaker 1 (23:17):
It it's just there's a bunch of different crap that
comes with that thing that I just didn't know about
going in.
Speaker 3 (23:22):
And you warned me. I know, you warned me. You
warned me.
Speaker 1 (23:24):
About it, and you tell me I should have I understand.
I understand I should have done it.
Speaker 4 (23:29):
You were the old man in the horror movie saying, don't.
Speaker 2 (23:31):
Go do that.
Speaker 1 (23:32):
Don't go in there, old man at the gas station
before you go into the woods.
Speaker 3 (23:36):
I'm telling you.
Speaker 4 (23:37):
The candy and just keep moving, don't there.
Speaker 1 (23:40):
He's got a hockey mask and he's got a couple
of chainsaws, and you can I'm telling you, no, old man,
We're gonna go have sex. We're gonna smoke and we're
gonna drink. It's gonna be an awesome night. We're all
gonna do it in different cabins, and it's gonna be fantastic.
Speaker 3 (23:54):
Okay, okay, And that does sound like a pretty good
Monday night. But the fact of the matter is, except
when you get killed with the people.
Speaker 4 (24:01):
Well, I mean you had a good run.
Speaker 3 (24:03):
You have a good run. I'm seventeen years old. I'm
running from a guy in a hockey No. Yeah, but
you don't see him. Sure a lot build up to
your defeat gas station guy. I should have listened, yeh,
because remember the killers usually doing all this unknown to you.
Speaker 4 (24:19):
Like everybody else, get picked off. You're still in oblivion.
Should have lived your best life.
Speaker 3 (24:24):
Should have at least bought Lotto tickets from the guy
before it. But I'm old enough to remember when Aaron
Rodgers was the greatest tourist that New York, New Jersey
had ever seen. He's on Broadway, showing up in games.
He's having fun and laughing it up. Now this is defeated.
I did like that he circled back to Garrett Wilson,
because Garrett Wilson choked on an opportunity to right that
(24:46):
throw in the back of the end zone where he
doesn't get the second foot down and gets the thigh down.
That was a hell of a throw. It was on target,
on point, first foot down and then we'll thigh out
of bounds. So again, no yet again, Jets zerline right, kicky, game,
we stunk, So we stunk again. How honest is he?
It took six weeks to break him. Yeah, we didn't
(25:09):
even have twenty twenty three. I mean that was all
in fighting with people about COVID and conspiracy theories and that.
Speaker 5 (25:15):
Idiot still thinks there's time to turn things around.
Speaker 3 (25:18):
Oh look, no, no, no, no, listen.
Speaker 4 (25:20):
In theory, yeah yeah, yes, there is time theory.
Speaker 3 (25:23):
In reality, it's the Jets of what are you gonna do?
I mean, really, what are you gonna do? But we
talked about the schedule of justin right, the next two
of the next three weeks, you're on the road at
Pittsburgh and then you get the short week where you've
got to deal with the Texans after a run with
the Patriots. And let's face it, Drake mate made that
offense exciting that that is actually a game. Now you
(25:45):
know what Jets stands for Jason, just end the season. Yeah,
you think of that. First time I heard that, Yes,
smart guy, the first time I heard that. You know
what charger stands for.
Speaker 5 (25:54):
Great defense.
Speaker 3 (25:56):
Can't have a real game.
Speaker 5 (25:58):
Great defense that'll destroy your face.
Speaker 3 (26:02):
Raw. Oh I did pretty good there. You can't have
a real game. Every everyone highlights that was really good.
Speaker 1 (26:16):
Yea, hey, can you talk to the TI. I did
a little bit more from Ladd McConkie. I mean ten
points a week is nicely a little bit more's to fifteen,
that'll be nice McConkey.
Speaker 5 (26:25):
Actually we win games.
Speaker 3 (26:27):
No, I know that. Look, and that's the thing.
Speaker 5 (26:28):
Remember what that feels like.
Speaker 1 (26:29):
Because yeah, listen, dude, yes, because I was at Chavez
Ravine today watching my team beat the crap out of
your team.
Speaker 2 (26:37):
So I know that.
Speaker 4 (26:39):
Four five.
Speaker 3 (26:42):
But this goes no, but this goes to a point, right,
this this goes to a point like what was I
talking about a few minutes ago about how hey, I
I understand when people are saying I just don't watch
a team anymore because they don't put me enjoy, right,
I got it? Is that you look at my two
teams who in this New York Armageddon Knight Ever, the
last thirty six hours, we went from Jets Dodgers, I'm sorry, sorry,
(27:05):
Mets Dodgers, Giants on Sunday Night Football into today Mets Yankees,
and then Jets on Monday Night Football. Right, Jet, it's
been a New York, New York apocalypse last the last
twenty four hours.
Speaker 1 (27:18):
Is that you know, I sit here and go, why
why do I spend so much time? Because I watch
the Jets how they've been mismanaged for my entire life. Right,
ownership is bad, They make ridiculously bad decisions, they can't
they continue to throw up on themselves. They give you
hope every year, but they show you really not up
(27:38):
for it because either the coaching staff is not right,
we can never get the quarterback position right, and there's
all kinds of drama, and we lose games that are
just insane that nobody else loses. The Chargers lose some
games like this because I told you the Charges of
Jets are like the same team but three thousand miles away.
But I don't know, and I watch it and I go,
my team is just run. And then you look at
just this year where all the all this, all the
(28:01):
good thoughts coming into this year, all the positivity, and
it's gone so bad. We fired a head coach and
we lose a game like this on Monday Night football.
That's embarrassing. And then I look over at the Mets
and I go, that's a team that was run poorly
my entire life. But now they have a great owner
and they have probably the best executive in baseball who
turned this team.
Speaker 3 (28:21):
And this isn't this was because these two degrees of separation. Like, dude,
David Surts a genius, man. I mean, this is a
team that was supposed to just be a get by
team this year, right, But this is how good he
is pushing all the right buttons In a year where
three fifths of the starting rotation were signed to one
year contracts. We over overhauled the bullpen twice during the season.
(28:44):
Everybody that's coming on one year deals, playing basic, you know,
playing in the field has been great. They've made the
right decisions for prospects. I mean, it's like your nose
is going, this is this is how it should be.
This is this is the team I should spend my
energy on it. They're run well, they the owner is good.
The guy running again, David Stearns, the genius guys, the.
Speaker 5 (29:04):
Best guy with him. This is all about Grimace. This
has nothing to do with that executive.
Speaker 4 (29:12):
And a lot of hope.
Speaker 3 (29:14):
Whose whose idea was it to bring Grimace in? All right? Man?
Some executive come on to do with him. He doesn't
even know who Grimace is. David Stearns is like forty
years old. I think the guy has McDonald's as.
Speaker 5 (29:26):
Much as Poopy till Grimace showed up.
Speaker 3 (29:29):
Is great. We brought Grimace in. That's what good teams do.
They bring in the people you need, and the and
the McDonald's. To bring grim in to promote something. I'm
telling you, man, dude, I would. I'll tell you, if
the Mets win the World Series, I'll go with Grimace
for Halloween. Are you kidding? A hundred percent? I will?
Speaker 1 (29:46):
Guy will go as Grimace for Halloween. Absolutely, I'll have
that Grimas costume for a month. If the Mets win
the World Series.
Speaker 4 (29:53):
I think Game five is the thirtieth, so that could
work out.
Speaker 7 (29:57):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (29:58):
But I mean it's like that I should spend my
time on this team that that that is run right
and knows how to do things and has the arrow
up instead of just this absolute blank show that I
get every single year.
Speaker 3 (30:10):
Well, you got a Syracuse win this weekend, you know,
part of my four boxing run. Well, I mean it
was awful paying the players, it was awfully nerve racking.
But hey, okay, I gotta I gotta spend time with the.
Speaker 4 (30:27):
Days.
Speaker 1 (30:27):
Is he helping things out? I gotta spend I gotta
spend times with the Knicks. I gotta spend time. I
gonna spendamen teams in a run. Well, why am I
doing this? Why is this happening?
Speaker 4 (30:35):
Because the Jets are in your soul and they'll steal it.
Speaker 1 (30:38):
Uh time not to find out what's trending in the
wide world of sportsman. A man who said, don't pitch
to Ventos pitched to Lindor with runners at second and third.
Speaker 3 (30:47):
It's Steve Desager. He's got what's trending.
Speaker 6 (30:49):
That thought has not only not crossed my mind, it
has not crossed.
Speaker 3 (30:52):
To anyone's mind.
Speaker 6 (30:54):
By the way, I can add with the New York
weekend w NBA Finals this week New York at Minnesota
with games three Wednesday and then game four on Friday,
and in Brooklyn this past few days, attendance was eighteen thousand.
Each game at best of five finals tied at a
game apiece, and the New York Rangers were home tonight,
beating Detroit four to one. Meanwhile, in Joyse, the Jets
(31:15):
were losers at home to the Buffalo Bills twenty three
to twenty Josh Allen three total touchdowns. The Jets last
three drives were a miss field goal off the upright,
another miss off the upright, and an interception. The folks
at Statsan point out that this was the first NFL
game in a while Jets Bills where each team had
at least ten penalties, each team missed multiple kicks, also
(31:39):
in the same game hadn't happened since nineteen eighty seven,
a Giants Bills game when it was played with replacement
players during this drive time, which this kind of.
Speaker 3 (31:50):
Looked like for him.
Speaker 5 (31:51):
How many yards did Shane falcl happen?
Speaker 3 (31:54):
You want old names?
Speaker 6 (31:55):
Mike Garafalo NFL Network points out that the Jets did
at least have one hundred yard rusher and one hundred
yard receiver in the same game for the first time
since twenty eighteen. That included Isaiah Crowell back then, and.
Speaker 3 (32:07):
What was what was the final score. Oh we lost,
that's right, Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 6 (32:10):
That was another well. By the way, the Jets have
certainly lost more than the Chargers over the years. Let's
let's not equate them heartbreak. Yeah, sure, that's a separate category.
Breeze Hall, by the way, eighteen carries for one hundred
thirteen yard rushing, Garrett Wilson eight receptions one hundred seven
yards in a score, Alan Lozard including his hail Mary
catch fifty two yard TD before halftime. Lazard six catches
(32:33):
one hundred fourteen yards and that score. Brown's head coach
Kevin Stefanski said again that Deshaun Watson is still his
starting quarterback. Cleveland has yet to score twenty points in
a game this year. The colt say quarterback Anthony Richardson
is expected to return Sunday against the Dolphins. He's been
out with an oblique injury. Miami expects quarterback to a
tongue of Iloa to play again this year. He's on
(32:54):
injured reserve after another concussion last month, so he can
practice in about a week and a half. Texans defensive
end Mario Edwards was suspended four games for a substance
abuse violation and Utah quarterback Cam Rising is out for
the year with a leg entry in the als.
Speaker 3 (33:11):
However, I've already.
Speaker 1 (33:12):
Saw he's going to petition for another year of eligibility
to be his eighth year.
Speaker 6 (33:18):
I was going to say fifteen, but okay, Yeah, he will.
Speaker 3 (33:21):
Turn forty years old. He's older than Aaron Rodgers. I
don't know if you know that or not.
Speaker 6 (33:24):
Yeah, if they just kept making the Rose Bowl, he
would set some record.
Speaker 5 (33:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (33:30):
Six Rose Bowl appearances by the same.
Speaker 3 (33:32):
Rising, eight time Rose Bull Player of the Game.
Speaker 6 (33:37):
Opener of the Alcs went to the Yankees over Cleveland,
five to two, solo homers for Juan Soto and Giancarlo Stanton.
The Mets and Dodgers are tied at a game apiece
after the seven to three New York win in LA today,
Mets led six to nothing in the second inning after
the grand Slam by Mark Fiento's Games three, four, and
five in New York on FS one Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
(33:57):
Nights Back to You.
Speaker 3 (33:58):

The Jason Smith Show with My best friend Mike Harmon,
Live from the tyrack dot Com Studios.
Speaker 3 (34:37):
I'm a lot more NFL for Monday Night football, More MLB,
LCS Day and Night coming up in a few minutes.
But let me just say this, right, because you're probably
been inundated all day with all the cowboys and what's
going on. Cowboys, Cowboys, Cowboys, Cowboys, Cowboys, Cowboys, Cowboys, the cowboys,
(34:57):
George Carly.
Speaker 1 (34:58):
Let me just let me just say this because I
feel like sometimes.
Speaker 3 (35:04):
In what we do for a living, people want to
reinvent the wheel. All right, I want to build a
better mouse trap. Then I'm gonna reinvent the wheel, and
then I'm gonna okay, And sometimes things are just simpler
than that.
Speaker 4 (35:17):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (35:17):
Sure, the Cowboys get blown out by the Lions in
a game in which the Lions really wanted revenge from
last year at the whole angry. Hey, look at who's reporting,
who's eligible, who's not. I mean, they're up by thirty
in the fourth quarter and they are throwing the football,
they're calling trick plays and they're yeah, I mean, it's
it's just the Lions are saying blank you. But let
(35:41):
me just say this, because we said this about the
Cowboys after the second week of the season. Here's their
results so far this year. They beat Cleveland. Cleveland is
absolutely terrible. They're one in five. They get blown out
by twenty five by the Saints, who are terrible.
Speaker 3 (35:55):
Okay, they lose the Baltimore close game. Baltimore is good.
They beat the Giants, the Giants are terrible. They beat Pittsburgh.
Pittsburgh struggles. Here's another forty seven to nine loss to
the Lions. They have now had two of their three losses.
They've given up forty five points and they've gotten blown out.
Cowboys are three and three. You can say all you
(36:18):
want to with, well, they've done this, they've done that. Yes,
and we've done that. We've talked about Jerry Jones not
getting anybody in the off season knowing the Cowboys were
gonna stink. We told you the Cowboys were not gonna
be good this year because they didn't get better in
the offseason and all the stuff to you here, all
of that and the Cowboys now listen now, Jerry Hey,
bottom line is this, Maybe the Cowboys just stink. We'll
(36:39):
say this for the second time in the last month.
Maybe the Cowboys just stink. They're a three and three
team and their wins are against teams. Pittsburgh is an
okay win, right, But Pittsburgh's not World beat it. But
Pittsburgh is an okay win. It could again, could have
went either way, but I give them credit for winning
the game. But the Giants are bad and the Browns
are worse. Maybe the Cowboys just stink. And you can
(37:04):
say lots of things go along with it. But every
year there's a handful of teams to just stink that
aren't any good, and they all have different reasons for it.
But bottom line is they all have in common. They
all stink, and maybe the Cowboys just understand that that's
what it is. They can't really run the football, they
can throw it a little bit, their defense is not
any good. They just stink. Many reasons around it. Blame
(37:27):
who you want to. But bottom line is maybe the
Cowboys just stay.
Speaker 4 (37:31):
Yeah, I mean, we elevate it. And it's the simplest
of things.
Speaker 3 (37:34):
Hey, that the Lions are that good, but we knew
that coming in that they would be competing for the
NFC crown, right, we knew that. But for the schedule,
as you laid it out, I like the Giants a
little better than most, and I think it's in the
margins the game yesterday go back to a couple weeks ago,
(37:54):
the kicker issue that they had Graham Gano getting hurt
and then missing some easy stuff because well you just
couldn't execute. But all that to say, what do they
do really well? Dak Prescott can throw the ball to
Ceed Lamb, occasionally Tolbert steps up or Ferguson steps up.
Speaker 4 (38:11):
That's fine.
Speaker 3 (38:12):
But the defense, even with all those guys, and that's
the thing that's being lost. I think in a lot
of the analysis coming out of this defeat to the Lions,
it's not all well, it would have been a different
game with Micah Parsons or DeMarcus Lawrence or whatever else. No,
they stunk with them on the field and at home
they've been absolutely atrocious, right, they were eight to no
(38:33):
at home a year ago. Now this year they're getting
run out of the gym. And that game yesterday, I
thought they were going to cover the over under by themselves,
the Detroit Lions. The way they were getting after an
offensive lineman eligible all this other craziness, let's call the
sweeps and keep throwing. As you said, I'm on Ross
(38:54):
Saint Brown. When the game's already decided, it's almost like, hey,
I need some more points from my fantasy squad. Go
do it, Yeah, yeah, go ahead and throw it. You
need to stat pad here against a bad d but
they don't do anything well, and they really don't, and
offensively they're beyond beyond bad.
Speaker 4 (39:12):
They're gonna have to win shootouts.
Speaker 3 (39:14):
And let's face it, you could box coverage CD lamb
and say, hey, Dak go somewhere else. He knows if
he doesn't throw it to him ten times, CD's gonna
be pissed, so everything else falls apart.
Speaker 1 (39:25):
How do you sum up the Cowboys? They're a tricky team.
Don't let that get hot, and you can and you
beat them. That's how that's the Cowboys. The Cowboys are
just like any other team that's not very good. Where
you can sum up how you can beat them. Hey,
they're not really good. Just don't let that get hot,
because that's how he winds up winning game. Right, that
gets hot? Find CD LAMB finds. Don't let him get hot.
(39:46):
That's all you gotta do. It's all you have to do, is.
Speaker 4 (39:48):
The other thing.
Speaker 3 (39:49):
And I know Jerry dismissed it categorically. They've only done
it once. It's the bye week and you just got
shell act. Give yourself the birthday week of a new
head coach. Come on again. Maybe the Cowboys just stink.
Think about that terrible? Maybe they just stink.
Speaker 4 (40:06):
What do you mean?
Speaker 1 (40:06):
Maybe exit hop out oppressed the eggs and swollen down
The Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon.
Speaker 3 (40:12):
Uh. If you think tonight was bad for the Jets
on the field, wait a week
