(00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Oh greetings. Final hour
of the program begins here Fox Sports Radio Jason Smith
Show with Me, Mike Carmen, Dan fire in for Jason
Smith to night. Jason will be back tomorrow night as
we get ready for Thursday night football Seattle hosting the

(00:45):
San Francisco forty Notes. We'll get into that momentarily as
we are broadcasting live for the tire act dot Com studios.
Tire act dot Com will help you get there an
unmatched selection, fast freeze shipping, free road hazard protection, and
over ten thousand recommended installers. Tire iraq dot com the
way tire buying should be. And Dan, a lot of people,

(01:06):
I mean, if we talk about putting tires on vehicles,
doing everything they can to load up their respective bandwagons
and abandon your Seattle Seahawks. They are they are jumping
off And I hate to say it, but rightfully so.
It's such a it's such a bit of a conundrum.
And in seeing what Thursday Night's game between the Fortney

(01:27):
and Honors means, it's being hyped up, is like, this
is a huge game, this is I mean, this is
a big, big deal, when in reality, Mike, last Sunday's
game for the Seahawks was the big big deal because
winning that game would have made this game much more important,
and winning last Sunday would have made the wild card

(01:48):
picture that much more easier for Seattle. It wouldn't have
let all these other teams kind of back in the
think of things. Any team with eight losses right now
still has an opportunity in the NFC, And if the
playoffs were to start today, the Seahawks would not be
in the playoffs. They dropped out with that loss to Carolina,
and that that just leads me to the point of

(02:09):
I think San Francisco is the better team, and I
think San Francisco is gonna end up winning the division,
whether it happens Thursday night, or it happens in Week
sixteen or week seventeen, that's to be determined. But when
you look at the Seahawks year, and you know those
NFL films UH season and reviews, and they take all
the highlights, the thirty minute package that you see in

(02:30):
in July and August during training camps, they always try
to highlight the high points of the season, and I
feel like if if that was to be made right now,
you know, it's not that the Seahawks haven't had high points.
It's just that all we do is talk about the
Russell Wilson trade. That's all because it's been so bad
for the Broncos and the Seahawks have come out on

(02:51):
the good side of it. And we've talked a little
bit about this on the I Want Your Flex podcast,
but we haven't talked about it with the Seahawks out
of the playoff picture, and as a fan, I'm sitting
there saying to myself, you know, had zero expectations of
this team entering the season, So should I really be
disappointed if they don't make the playoffs? And as they're

(03:11):
sitting there at seven and six, Mike, they have the
game against the Niners on Thursday, they have a game
in Kansas City coming up, and you also have a
game against the Jets, which isn't easy as easy as
you thought it was at the start of the season.
It's not actually gonna be kind of difficult for the Seahawks,
I think, to to make a to the postseason. So
then I'm sitting there saying should I be disappointed? And

(03:31):
and that's the tough part about it is in my shoes,
I'm kind of like you know what I am. But
nationwide and across the country and those that aren't maybe
Seahawks fans and outside of the Pacific Northwest in Alaska
or again where people are Seahawks fans, we said, hey,
the Seahawks got the best of the Russa, Wilson, nil,
a couple of first round picks. But it just feels
like this collapse here like it was there for them.

(03:53):
You beat the Raiders at home, if you If you
do that, you know that the losing to your last
two games at home is the big thing. I mean
three in a row obviously Buccaneers, but they're still, you know,
the cold of Brady that they would eventually figure it out.
So all right that you lose that, but then you
lose shootout to the Raiders and then you get run
over by Foreman and the Panthers led by Sam Donald

(04:17):
and all of a sudden, all that hope and build
up that wasn't expected. But once it's there, man, you
got to acknowledge it and you get excited that it's there,
that you feel like something's been lost in the process.
It's funny too, because you talk about that Buccaneers game
when they're going over to Germany. I'm like, jeezus, that
is that a pick them, you know, because at the time,
you know, like you're like, how good are the Buccaneers.

(04:39):
You're like, Seahawks are actually playing well? They went to
l a they you know, kick the Chargers butts earlier
this season, and you're like, man, this is seems like,
you know, quite the turnaround, and now here they are
sitting there at seven and six. I just I think
we get so enamored with that Russell Wilson trade and
think that the whole season as gravy. But Mike like,

(05:02):
I don't, I don't look at it like it could
end up where now they're going to have to you know,
a better draft pick because they don't end up finishing,
you know, as high as it would have all if
they're making the playoffs. And I'm usually not a guy
if you can't win the Super Bowl. I don't even
know if I you know, watching the playoffs. But the
NFL these days is a lot more wide open than
even was five years ago, I think, in trying to

(05:23):
make a push to the game. So just of them
not making the playoffs when it was there, like, I'm disappointed.
And I think that if, if you know, if there
was no Russell Wilson trade, we would be looking at
this as a collapse, and we'd be critical of Pete
Carroll and we'd be critical of, you know, the problems

(05:45):
on defense. But I I don't know, I ask you, like,
do do I need to look at this? Is like
you're playing with house money for the first half of
the season, you know, Like, I don't know if there's
a different rule maybe for the expectations and for you know,
how many of their draft picks are seeing action. There's
always that to it, But it just seems to me
like it was a lost opportunity. When you lose the

(06:06):
games to the Panthers and to the Raiders in games
that you really felt like you should have won. No,
and I think you're a harder percent, right, is that
you might have come into the season with lowered slash
no expectations somewhere there, right. I mean, it's a weird
division Arizona. We always try to get excited about and
for the first half of many a season you have

(06:26):
been and then you watch them falter. So did you
trust them? No, the Rams coming off the Super Bowl,
you'd assume they'd be better, but history tells us that
super Bowl champs take a bit of a thumping. Uh.
And it's awful hard to to come back off of
that grind in the banquet circuits. So fine, Uh. And
then you know San Francisco quarterback position and whether Lance

(06:50):
or Garoppolo was going to be the guy, there were questions.
Obviously they've now gotten healthy and things are moving, you know,
once you add McCaffrey and whatever else. But you're looking
at going it might lost. And I put that in
quote based on what you've been getting most seasons with
Russell Wilson at the helm. But I don't think you
would have gone into saying all right, it's absolutely a

(07:11):
train wreck. Quarterback position was obviously a question, and and
Gino showing out well early on, gets it done, but
you know you you go one and two to start
the season, the loss to the forty Niners. The win
over the Broncos was such a huge emotional thing because
we built we beat the villain, and who would have

(07:31):
thought that at the time it would become Wow, it's
they actually played fairly well in that game, grand scale
of what this Broncos season has become. But then you
have the forty Niners, lost seven. You're back down to earth.
You lose to the Falcons and we're looking around trying
to figure out what the Falcons were well as we saw, man,

(07:52):
you add question of a guy walking away uh in
Marcus Mario and it's like, oh no, no, no, he's
got a knee injury. Wait what Like none of that
made sense that Timeline Desmond Ritter gets promoted. Good for him.
But you're at one and two and you're looking around going, okay,
you win to shoot out against the lines when the
lines at that point were terrible. They were scoring points,
but they couldn't stop anybody. Now that wind looks a

(08:14):
lot better, right. You lose another shoot out to the
Saints before winning four straight games, and then you go
to Germany and it begins, you know, the three of
four losses to bring us to this home date against
the forty niners, which is a pretty pretty good opportunity
and litmus tests where you are. I understand the frustration,

(08:35):
because you know, hopes a dangerous thing, right Shawshank redemption.
You get both sides, hope being the worst of things,
you know, and and it'll eat you up on the
inside and whatever as you're you're in the prisons and whatever,
or you know, prisons of your own mind take it
to the outside existential world. But you also have the
best of it going. Ay, we're surgeon, maybe maybe things

(08:57):
are going right in our way. So yeah, if I
if I were a Seahawks fan like like you and
and those listening that are, yeah, I'd be I'd be
kind of ticked and disappointed of what looked like a
promising run that maybe the defense would get better along
the way, because you know, we know you're gonna hit
some bumps and bruises and certainly, you know, give me,

(09:18):
give me the Seahawks playing the Panthers with Kenneth Walker
in the backfield. Unfortunately that didn't happen, right, Is it
a different game, you'd probably still get pushed around, but
you'd have a guy that can do some of the
pushing back against the Carolina defense. That's better than than
many I think recognized coming in and you and I
on the podcast and whenever we've gotten together kind of

(09:38):
raised our hand for them a little bit on that
side of the ball. But now you're at a point where, yeah,
I think i'd be a little salty that down into
the final weeks. The doors opened to be left out.
They when they left Germany after the loss to the Buccaneer.
As I said, all right, they I thought at the time,
nine wins gets you in in the NFC. This is

(10:00):
before the Giants Commanders tie. Um, which again, which is
why Brian Dables should have punted in overtime for people
who couple you know, in the Commanders in the first game.
The tie is really helping the Giants. It's really helping
the Commanders as well. Um, when you're looking at these
tiebreakers right now in the NFC. But I said, nine
wins gets you there. And they had games against two

(10:22):
games against the Rams, one of them is yet to
be played, that the Raiders game and the Panthers game,
So there were opportunities. Just need to go three and
one in that stretch, Mike and teams that they were
better than at the at the time when we were
talking about this. I expected them and they may lose
Thursday night to the Forts. If they win, it's it's
an added bonus and puts them back into the conversation

(10:45):
of a wild card. But I expected a loss against
the forty Honors. I expected a loss against the Chiefs,
and I don't know what's gonna happen against the Jets.
When I'm like, you gotta beat the Rams twice, you
meet the Raiders, you beat the Panthers, guess what, you're
in the playoffs, and they meet the Rams. But they
didn't beat the Raiders, and they didn't beat the Panthers
is and now they find themselves on the outside looking in,
and that's frustrating, especially going into a Thursday night game, Mike,

(11:05):
that I don't know if they can win, and if
they win, it'll be a great surprise that it'll be
a great turnaround, and maybe it puts them back into
position to get one of those wild cards. But when
you just saw where they were and also lose three
out of their last four and lose the two games.
I just sometimes, even though expectations were low, and I'm thinking,
all right, one in sixteen after they beat the Broncos

(11:26):
in a week one. You know, I didn't know about
that team. They proved me wrong. But once you get there, like,
you still want to perform because you never know what's
gonna happen the next year you or the year after that.
So if you're in the thick of it, you might
as to try to do what you can. And that's
just what I feel like as as a Seahawks fan,
is it may be on you know, all gravy it,
maybe you know on on you know, stolen time, however

(11:50):
you want to look at it. But the point is
is they had it in their hands and they let
it slip away and right now still slipping away. And
that's the frustrating part. Well. And as you men chin
right with anything, and we're doing sports, but we like
to link our our personal lives and the careers and
whatever you're doing out there, you know, the extended family designation,

(12:11):
because you're letting us into your homes wherever you are,
or into your lives via your automobiles and etcetera. Uh,
is that you you have to take advantage of opportunities
when they open up. And here you've got a team
that for a spell, you go, all right, they're overachieving. Well,
you're winning, so you've obviously found some part of it
to do right now, you you keep pushing on the

(12:33):
parts that aren't and if you could just bring those
up to being average, then you're you're still probably gonna
win your share of games. And instead you're you're seeing
even a slight regression in some of the offensive work
from time to time. Uh, isn't isn't getting helped at
all on the defensive end, And I think that's frustrating
because you've got some individual performers and young players who

(12:55):
have been fantastic. Uh, just those opportunities against the Raiders
and pay the just and their operative their defense has
been opportunistic. And for those that like look at their defense,
you can look at those numbers, but you know what happens. Uh.
You know, a way to not turn the ball over
is to just run the football, and so they're unable
to force the turnovers. And then Josh Jacobs, I know

(13:18):
you have a ninety hard run in overtime eighty six yards,
but you still take it off. He still want to forty.
Cordarold Patterson ran for a buck forty for the Falcons.
The Panthers as a team last week ran for two
bloods yards as a team. Like you've got to stop that,
you know. And that's why I think the Forts will

(13:38):
have success on Thursday night, because the Seahawks have just
shown that they are unable to stop the run and
their wins. Mike Rams can't run the ball with their line.
Arizona really hasn't had much of a running game, you know,
this season, so like there are there are spots where
you can see why, you know, maybe the Seahawks ended
up getting their wins, and a bunch of returnovers at

(14:01):
the goal Lid also helped. Well there you going. It
always comes back to we still celebrate the ability to
chant Gene. Gene, he's bever we can not only has
he been good, Mike, he hasn't been the problem in
these three losses. So, I mean he turned the ball
over against Carol, I was, you know, a little abnormal,
but it's not the main reason. Gino Smith pro bowler,

(14:23):
Um gosh, I'd have to go through off the top
of my head but in the NFC. Yeah, I know
most of the guys are in the a f C
that you'd be looking at, right, It's right, Jalen hurts, Yeah, yeah,
I would. I would say would be top three, wouldn't
he deck And um, yeah, you know maybe maybe even

(14:45):
with all the losses, they'd love to just get the
the next star power of Justin Fields in there. But
that to your point, I mean, there's there's not a
lot of contenders, so let's go and then Captain Kirk,
I guess would have to be looked at as well
there in Minnesota because I want to talk about them next.
Because there's a stat everybody keeps sighting and I will

(15:05):
argue and this is one of the few statistical hits
hills I will die on Benjamin Disraeli, lies, damn lies
and statistics. Remember that. We'll bring it back in a moment.
And he first respond he will tell you never try
to beat a train after breaking it will take a
mile for a train and completely stop. So when you
come to a rail crossing stop, because trains can. He's

(15:26):
Dan Buyer in for Jason Smith on Mike Carmen. Find

(15:46):
they ever get any love or respect? Maybe, but we'll
give you one stat that people just need to stop
signing as a reason for their problems. Next not fun.
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harman weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific. Welcome back in Fox Sport to Radio Jason
Smith Show with Mike Carmen. Yeah that's me, Mike Carmen.

(16:08):
Jason is out tonight. Dan Buyer my partner on the
I Watch Reflex podcast. You hear them week days on
the Doug Gottlieb Show, Covino and Rich and of course
the weekends two to five Pacific time, part of Red
Zone Radio, breaking down games as they roll the Sunday
morning games coming to an end as they take over incredulously.

(16:29):
They watch some of the finishes and bad coaching decisions,
the lack of time out and time execution, and Dan
gets to be the first guy to take the flamethrow
at all of them many of times though. Is the
show ends, you know, four fifty five Local time at
about four eight, I'm like, oh, I should have ripped

(16:50):
on them for this messed up that. You know, like
when you're looking at the the whole situations, but when
you can do it in real time and realize what's happening,
it's great stuff. Well, that's why we need to start
doing some of our reaction videos, you know. You and
I just started more more random podcasting. It it it will
just be two guys yelling that's what we'll yelling. Oh man. Again.

(17:14):
Last week's a perfect example. You had Buccaneers and in
Niners as the game of the week, and I don't
blame Fox for doing it, but they left it. Yeah,
they to a more competitive game. But when you have
that happened to you, Um, you know, the Seahawks Panthers
game actually had way more implications on how the NFC

(17:38):
playoff picture was gonna sort out. Still, that's a tough
sell Donald against Gino on on a national audience. So
I get it, I get it. But in the matchups
of what they what they mean sometimes it's not the
marquee matchup that grabs the headlines. Well, you know what
was funny with that, though, Dan, is that you take
it away from your your Fox number one team, all

(17:59):
the hype. Tom Brady goes home brock Purty after you
know what we saw of him in week thirteen, how
does he face off? Look at the age differential. Oh,
there's his parents, there's his family, and Brady got a
hundred tickets and all this, and then it ends with
Brady signed and autographs of guys that picked him off. Oh,

(18:20):
you're right, it's it's that the hype. It's kind of
funny as well because when the Vikings, you know, the
Vikings had that crazy game against Buffalo a couple of
weeks ago, and I know, like in in our market
in southern California, they had to leave the game due
to NFL rules to go to the late game that

(18:43):
was being played, so fans here missed, you know, the
craziness that occurred in in overtime. Yet then the next
week the Vikings get um, we're going to take you
to a more competitive game where they were blown out
by the Cowboys. So there's like two ends of that
of that work decisions spectrum and the Vikings were on
both ends of it, because think of that, that's still

(19:04):
the Cowboys, right, and then at the Cowboy game and
Tom Brady and you still looked around and the market
forces say beat it, we're moving on. That takes uh,
some pretty good juice in that control room to make
that decision. I wonder how high up that goes. Do
you think Shanks has to chime in on it? I

(19:26):
don't know. I'm sure that there's a guy who just knows,
like he's that gut feeling like, all right, let's move on,
We're done here. How do you get your coat? We're gone?
Vikings Colts home date from Minnesota coming up this week
and then another home date against the Giants before two
road games to close out the year Division games at

(19:48):
Green Bay and at Chicago. Maybe a Jordan's love affair
on New Year's Day love affair there you go, very
good money, totally over my head, and then the battle
of the Justin's Jefferson versus Fields. We'll see. But in
the interim, there was something I wanted. I wanted to

(20:09):
bring up because I understand, Look, the Vikings defense has
not been good, right, we can all understand that as
we've we've flow through this season. But what I've seen
with ed donnitel and and Kevin O'Connell and others have
had to say, hey, you know what we're not We're
not making a change on the defensive side of things.
We're gonna take all things into account as the season ends,

(20:32):
but we're not making a move now. As we look
at the Vikings over the course of the year, twenty
takeaways only four team giveaways plus six is good to
tie for fourth in the NFL in that category. Would
you care to vent your I guess who's better? Uh?
Say it again? Turn over differential on the year, Vikings

(20:52):
are tied with the forty Niners for fourth at plus six.
I'll say the Eagles. Okay, um, I'll say the Chiefs.
Uh no, they're a little further down here. So the
time for four three teams ahead of the Kansas City
is currently minus five. Didn't help him, No, he did
not know. He did not. Yeah, they only have what

(21:15):
they got four teen takeaways on there. But I didn't
have the Eagles. He didn't nail the team Eagles. The
other teams on the metal stand are the Ravens and
the Cowboys and Angles sitting at plus two, not too
far behind. A lot of teams are in the UH
in the red as it were here, with your worst
team being Indianapolis Colts now at minus fourteen on the season,

(21:37):
Saints barely better at negative twelve. Anyway, the point to
that is they're still winning there. And part of that
is Kirk Cousins. And we can get into how much
you love or hate Kirk Cousins, because sometimes the argument
is he doesn't take chances enough. And then just like
Jimmy Garoppolo will throw that pass where you look at
the guy women next to you and say why you,

(21:58):
and you hope that they have an intelligible answer. Now,
the point I was making with Donna Tell and look,
it's it's semantics, but it's something that I strongly believe in,
and I hate. They have given up fifty yards. They
are giving up twenty four point one points per game,
which is tied for twenty four in the National Football League.

(22:18):
Yet everything you read is that the Vikings are last
in total defense because everybody keeps sighting the damn yardage.
It doesn't matter how many points do you give up.
That's it. How many do you score? How many to
give up? I don't care how long and protracted the
drives are between the twenties and whether you sit on

(22:40):
the ball for forty minutes. Did just go enough points
to win? I don't. I don't wanna. I don't want
to ran on this parade, but I do have to ask,
is twenty four that much better? Well, you're still you're
still not in the bottom quarter. But it's it's it's
better than last. It's better than that's that would be

(23:04):
the tombstone. It's better than last. But but if you're
gonna say they're the worst defense in the league and
try to kill this guy for it, there are you
know a number of other teams that are giving up
more points per game. Now you want to talk situational
fails and where maybe you know they haven't come through
with the big play down the stretch whatever. Yeah, we

(23:26):
can talk about that. But when it becomes the blanket, Hey,
they're the bottom ranked defense and this guy needs to
be fired, I'm like, hold on a second. Yeah, you know,
I agree with you. The the great that we had
looked at through history is based on scoring defense. That's
what it is. Look at the Seahawks defense. Look at

(23:48):
the Bears. It's all about scoring defense. I will give
you that, Mike. I like, I like that you're sticking
up for the Vikings at Dontel. Yeah. I mean it's
not wizardry, but you know, you get Dino Hunter back,
you get some some of those key components that have
missed time due to injury and again not world beating,

(24:09):
and they've been beatable down down the field with some regularity.
But they're winning games like this takes to the Vikings overall. Right,
last year, Zimmer is supposed to be your defensive guy.
They couldn't get stops, they couldn't finish games right, losing
all those one score games. This year they're winning them,
and somehow that's still a problem for people. Yeah. Well,

(24:33):
at Donna, Tell has had an interesting career because I
remember when he was in Green Bay as a defensive
coordinator and there were some highs they're they're absolutely were
some highs of where for you know what that defense
was early on in his in his tenure, and then
changed a little bit. But when you look at where

(24:55):
they are and where his defenses have been, you'd think,
all right, off the heels of what he did last
year in Denver. But that's Vic Fangio's defense. You know
what you're thinking, Okay, well, maybe you know he can
bring it over. It's just it's it's been what it is, Mike,
and they've been an average defense most of the times

(25:16):
during his tenure, you know. And and that's it's I
blame more of the people who are expecting more sure
from what they got. Yeah, I just you know, to
point out like differential, you know, it's two point seven
points per game to the worst team in the league,
which is now Arizona. They've now eclipsed the Detroit Lions.
Congratulations the Lions with their recent surge. But if I

(25:41):
if I take two points seven points the other way,
you know, that takes up to best team in the league.
So it's just you know that that gap isn't isn't
that wide on either side. I get that, but it's
it's more just the calling them the worst. And I
kept seeing that preface with all of these while they're
down the stretch, even with the worst defense in the

(26:03):
NFL's Oh, that is categorically not true. Semantics And and
maybe you know, I'm don't being on a hill that
doesn't need to be I just don't know what they do. Well,
throw the ball to Justin Jefferson. Yeah, that that's a
pretty bad strategy. Yeah, that that, and and it's especially

(26:26):
on defense, you know, like like when it when it
comes down to it, what are the Vikings going to do?
Are they going to get a sack? Are they going
to get a turnover? Are they gonna stuff your run game? Um?
What are they gonna lock up? I don't know. I
don't think they're probably gonna do any of them. I
think that they maybe just hope that the other team
makes the mistake and that they don't you know, And

(26:47):
that's why I don't think that people believe in It's
why I call them Minnesota spend my tagline for them
on on Red Zone Radio. Want me to get my
daughter to design a T shirt. I just don't know
who would buy them because the Vikings you don't have
to packer fans packer fans only by the Vikings T
shirts that have an empty cabinet and then it says

(27:10):
the Vikings trophy cabinet. That's that's the that's the joke
in Wisconsin when it comes. Yeah, it's all over it's
like an arm wir mike that is empty with nothing
in it, and that's what it says, like the Vikings
trophy collection, and it goes over well in the dairy Land.
So maybe that's where Minnesota would would sell, but I

(27:33):
don't know if anywhere else it would. I would say this.
You also just did something that may have never been
done in the history of Fox Sports Radio or sports
radio in general. You got the word arm wiring the
master of the English language. Remember your value as a
person was how cool your entertainment center was? Yeah? Yeah,

(27:57):
and a curio case off to the side. What kind
of shots did your family collect from my mom? For
a while it was the precious moments and then they
became too plentiful and stop buying them. Like okay, I
just remember that entertainment center. If they could display my
DVDs and c d s, lookout world. Well, and now

(28:18):
that vinyls back, now you can get your records back in.
I mean we bought our limited edition. I have worn
out the copy of Midnights that just showed up in
the mail a couple of weeks ago. My daughter is
already telling me we might need to get another copy
I'm like, no, Taylor Swift has enough of my money,
although if I can buy contract tickets, she'll get a

(28:39):
few dollars more. Well, you know, they're giving a second
chance based on the debacle that was the first time out.
They went back and eliminated some of the bots Dan
from when the era's tickets went on sale and secondary
market prices shot up and everybody tried to call her
a bad person, like, you know what if she did

(28:59):
dynamic racing, then then you would have really been cursing
at it. Now if you didn't do that, if you
got through and you got through the mess, the cheap
tickets were still forty nine bucks to get over yourselves.
But the point was a lot of bots did get through,
even though it was supposed to be a verified fan sale.
So what they've come back through and select verified fans.
How they have a criteria? I have no idea, but

(29:19):
yours truly. We'll have the opportunity to sit like a
dope online in a week's time to try again. Can't wait,
can't wait to hear me have a vitriolic rant about
that again as we come to you live from the
tire Act dot Com Studios. Wait for that to come,
because you know Smith won't be able to foil me

(29:40):
with jets talk. I promise you that be sure to
catch live editions of The Jason Smith Show with Mike
harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific on
Fox Sports Radio and the I Heart Radio Lap. Welcome
back in Fox Sports or Radio that Jason Smith. Yeah
with me Mike Rman from the Tire Act Comp Studios.

(30:01):
Jason has been out tonight as you've heard. If you
didn't and you're just joining us here, maybe looking for
Ben mallor coming up in about ten minutes from now,
you can find the podcast. Well wherever you download your audio,
download and give it five stars, will love you forever
and ever. Hey, and it's the holiday holiday holiday season.
Here's what you do. You buy a nice giant stack
of greeting cards. You know what to do. You print

(30:22):
out the U r L and tell them how to
download and grab that I Heart Radio app or listen
to listen on Fox Sports Radio dot com, I Heart
radio dot com. I mean, wherever you you're gonna get
the audio and then you just put that in the
card and sign it. You've given them the gift five
days a year. What do you think, Dan, I think

(30:46):
I think family and friends would appreciate that on a
whole other level. Not only you get Fox Sports Radio,
but all of the great work from the I Heart
Radio family of stations and podcasts, all the audio you
needed uh in your life. So thank you for being
part of the extended family. Appreciate you, Dan, and for
sitting in for Jason tonight. Uh. Some great conversations and

(31:09):
a lot of love in the Twitter verse. Everybody always
loves the feud when you come and calling. And the
storm tracking segment went over very well as well. Again,
I I understand why they need seven storm trackers. I
get it. It's just more than half their staff, which
is a little surprising there, and just staffing the desk.

(31:30):
I understand. Hey, Eddie, first responder will tell you never
try to beat a train after breaking. It can take
a mile for a train to completely stop. So when
you come to a rail crossing stop because trains can't now.
The first thing I wanted to do here Dan was
give a little bit well patted the back to me
for saying he'd be a top five fantasy quarterback last
last week. But Trevor Lawrence playing some good football. He

(31:51):
and Doug Peterson looks like they're finally really starting to
click and down the stretch could be one of those
difference makers for fantasy owners. It's crazy that you would
go to the state of Florida for fantasy success and
you don't want anything to do with Tampa. You know, No,
that's it. Like even Chris Godwin becomes what a back

(32:13):
end to upside, Like, oh yeah, let's go to go
to Tippe. You're going to Jacksonville when you're looking for
fantasy success. Stretch. Yeah, all of a sudden that that
offense starting to move, You've got some opportunities here are
down the stretch for them as well. But I wanted
to close with with a little discussion Tyreek Hill in
the News and Paunch. We talked about Pro Bowl voting

(32:34):
to being a top with some of the usual suspects
and including well a trio of guys who currently play
in Kansas City or once did uh and that mahomes
Kelsey Uh and of course darry Kill. Tarry Kill sighting
on Club SHA with Shannon Sharpe. You see him every
morning with Skip Bayliss getting after it sometimes a little

(32:56):
heated sometimes really taking over viral video with some of
their discussions, But on his podcast, darry Kill said, well,
there there were two things that really got me down
to Miami. Number One, there'd be some games where I'd
get two targets, I'd get three targets. We go into meetings,
coach would be like, we gotta get you involved. I
gotta get you involved. So I'm calling my agent every
week after they say some crazy stuff and bro, I

(33:17):
gotta get out of here. You out of fifty nine
targets last year, I know, and I it's it's it's
truly it's listen. As a fantasy UH player, I understand
that there were some ebbs and flows with tree Kill
last year, but he's talking about just playing old opportunities,

(33:42):
and I just and and and if last year was
the UH the the ebb if you will um it
would flow at some point for the Chiefs. You knew
that it would get going, so I don't necessarily buy it.
I bought more. When he was talking about the state
income tax, no, I'd say, did anything else? Yeah, he
said they they saw eye to eye and potential annual salary,

(34:05):
but he was unimpressed with the amount of guaranteed money
the Chiefs were offering. Uh, so he got the four year,
seventy two million guaranteed from the Dolphins quote with no
state income tax. I'm basically living in my house for
free right now, you know, Tyree. And and I'm looking
at his game log from last year, as you mentioned

(34:25):
that he had a hundred and fifty nine targets. It
was at the end of the year, and I can't
remember if he was dinged up or not. They did
dwindle at times, and I don't know if he if
he was wondering maybe if that was, you know, if
there was an issue there, if he did he have
an incentive in his contract, I don't know. You know,
they did seem to struggle when they didn't give him

(34:47):
the brawl, so it wouldn't make sense for them to
not target him. I just wonder if you're just you know,
if you're to that point you're saying, I wonder what
I could do somewhere else, you know, you know, just
see what I see what I can do well when
it can be ab me. Maybe right because there he
was third, and he was always going to be third, right,
Travis Kelsey is going down and maybe fighting for that

(35:09):
tag of greatest tight end ever before this is all
said and done, I think we can stipulate to that.
And then Patrick Mahomes, you watch what he does. You
mentioned Jared mccannon earlier in that past play from the
other day is going to be on highlight reels forever. Yes, yeah,
was a magnificent play by Mahomes, no doubt, And yeah,
you're you're playing third fiddle, and Mike, I don't think

(35:32):
that Tyreek Hill. I've started to hear it more this year,
but I felt in years past his receiving skills as
a receiver, not just a guy who's super fast in
his cheetah, but his skills as a receiver. We're top notch,
and we get we we just get confused or blinded
by the size and the speed, or maybe the lack

(35:53):
of the size, and don't realize how good of a
wide receiver he actually is. He's really good. Well, fun
fun to watching down the stretch of the detractors and
the poison pens and acid tongues are out for to
a tongue of Iola, who we found out is leading
Pro Bowl voting. Either massive amounts of Dolphin fans or
those Alabama folks who aren't playing for a title finding

(36:16):
something to do with their time. Dan Pier for Jason Smith,
appreciate it out tonight Buddy in Seattle, San Francisco. Tomorrow night,
Ben Mallory is coming up next here on Fox Sports Radio.
Smith will be back tomorrow. I'm sure he'll want to
talk all about the Jets and Zach Wilson. Notice how
I left that for the final two seconds.
