(00:50):
This exclusive from KBC Channel seven in Los Angeles. Now,
we've talked a lot tonight about the the war now
between the Padres. Yeah, coming off of Game two, the
situation in the stands with Jerks and Profar Fernano Tatiss

(01:11):
them egging on the Dodger fans Manny Machado throwing a
ball near the Dodger dugout in between innings the Dodgers
are upset about that. A lot of craziness going on
during Game two, and the Dodgers want major League Baseball
to look at it, specifically the video of Manny Machado
throwing a baseball at the at the dugout. Now, this
has become the big story of the last twenty four hours.

(01:34):
The Padres and Dodgers series has now taking on a
new spin because of it. These two rivals. You could
tell how much they hate each other. Manny Machado, there's
a lot of bad blood between him and the Dodgers.
And outside of Profar having fun with the fans robbing
a home run from Mookie Betts, Fernano Tatist Junior is
wriggling his hips at the Dodger fans in the stands, Okay,

(01:56):
that's a big deal and that's a story. Then fans
started throwing up on the field. Mike Schult had to
come on, talk to his team, talk to the umpires
and say, hey, what's going on here? And then you
had the added part of the Manny Machado situation in which,
during in between innings, the final pitch of warm ups
was a ball that scuffed the dirt, so that's something
that gets thrown out of play. Machado takes it, throws

(02:18):
it to the dugout. It lands near Dave Roberts. The
Dodgers are very upset about this. They feel that Machado
threw it at him on purpose. They sent video to
Major League Baseball on this. This was the story of
most of the night tonight. But now we have this
coming into tomorrow's Game three where Walker Buehler will take

(02:39):
to the mound for the Los Angeles Dodgers. ABC seven
in LA had this story and they will have it exclusive.
They'll have it at eleven o'clock. They have learned that
Walker Buehler was robbed of an expensive watch this weekend
at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia. Now, Sandia Park is
a big horse racing venue. You and I were out
there doing podcasts. Go It's a big horse.

Speaker 3 (03:01):
Racing tact new meat, lots of high stakes races and
to do I mean, there's been a lot of pageantry
for the first couple of weeks.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
Now to tell you about Sandy to parking about this robbery.
He was with his wife where a quote mob of
people surrounded him. Someone allegedly unbuttoned his shirt sleeve and
took the watch. Now, we don't know if this was
something that was done forcibly, if this was done without
Bueller's knowledge, was that, hey, there's Walker Bueller. He's got

(03:32):
an expensive watch. We can it's a con of some kind,
but we know he was surrounded by a mob of
people and someone allegedly unbuttoned his shirt sleeve and took
the watch, which is valued at over one hundred thousand dollars.
This is the story and what we've heard about so far.
Now to tell you about Santa Eda Park, It's what
you would expect a big horse racing park to look like.

(03:53):
It is a big deal. It is a venue, is
a huge parking lot. It's almost like a Major League
Baseball type stadium. And his situation where you go in
and you should feel pretty safe because you are in
the confines of a safe atmosphere, right with security and
all kinds of things. There's there's vendors and venues and
everything else. So this is what happened over the course

(04:17):
of the weekend with Walker Bueller and his wife. Again,
to recap this story, Eyewitness News Channel seven in La
Walker Buler robbed of his expensive watch. This weekend Santitina Park,
mob of people surrounding Buehler and his wife. Someone allegedly
unbuttoned his shirt sleeve and took the watch. Joining us
now on the hotline. The man who's gonna bring this
story to Los Angeles and the world, A guy that

(04:38):
I used to cut highlights for Rob Fukazaki, Channel seven
sports anchor here in Los Angeles, Robbo, what's happening, Bud?

Speaker 4 (04:46):
Hey, welcome in.

Speaker 1 (04:49):
Oh, yeah, I appreciate you picking up the Yeah, I'm good.

Speaker 4 (04:53):
Yeah, I actually just saw the story a little before
you guys were announcing it. I was listening to you guys.
I went inside to get some photo in. You touched
me and uh, get on who it is? Yours a
big If there's a big story, even though it might
be initially a sports story, because it's a sports figure,

(05:16):
it's big enough, news is going to steal it from us.
Oh man, that's what happened.

Speaker 1 (05:21):
Yeah, you're not gonna get to do it to the
top of the eleven. It'll be the news anchors, right Rob,
for Gazak, you have more on this story coming up
later out of the show.

Speaker 4 (05:28):
Right exactly exactly in our in our two minutes. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
Uh now, now, first of all, look, I know you've
been out at Santa Anita Park and you've done a
lot of stuff out there, live shots, a lot of
reporting out there. It's shocking to me that this is
where it happened. Like this wasn't Hey, I'm trying to
get to my car on a side street. This is
This is actually at Santa Anita.

Speaker 4 (05:48):
Park, right at Shannonya Park is an Arcadia, and Arcadia
is a very it's a safe city. It doesn't have
any sort of reputation or anything. Actually, we went pretty
close to the area we moved about a year and
a half ago, and it's it's not the place you
would expect something like this to happen.

Speaker 3 (06:09):
Yeah, as we look at it, rob in details sketchy,
but evidently everybody saw him, and someone evidently saw Mark
right and talking about people surrounding Walker Bueller and getting
to him. I mean, now it's trying to figure out,
you know, how to sketch out the rest of the
details of this right exactly.

Speaker 4 (06:31):
I guess the way it was described it was a mob,
and you don't nowadays there's a shiny thing, you know,
hanging out the window of a car or anything like that.
There's been a lot of robberies here in la I
mean we hear it all the time where there's cars
that will like start following somebody because they got their

(06:51):
hand out the window and their expensive watches showing. You know,
that kind of stuff seems to happen on a regular basis.

Speaker 1 (07:00):
And the crazy thing, you know, we talk about sanity
to being a safe space, this is like a place
at Walker Bueller. This is like his specific safe space
because he grew up in Lexington. I think he owns
a horse and Bobby Bafford trained it and won the
Derby with it a few years ago. Like this is
like this is a big passion for him, and to
have this happen there just kind of blows my mind

(07:21):
about it, I know, totally.

Speaker 4 (07:23):
I mean, yeah, he does have that background because he
grew up in Kentucky a big horse racing fan. He
grew up, you know, in that part of the country.
So you know, like you said that, it was kind
of the safe haven over at the Saturnita Park. They
don't have it at Hollywood Park anymore obviously, so Fi
Stadium is the so So Sata Nita is the place

(07:46):
to be, and it's one of the most beautiful backdrops
with the San Gebro Mountains and all that, and for
something awful like this to happen, I mean, he and
his wife must have been just terrified.

Speaker 1 (07:56):
Yeah, this is I mean, this is a big shocking story.
With all the other stuff going on as well. I
don't know what the Dodgers spent a lot of time
the last twenty four hours, rob talking about Manny Machado
and throwing the ball in the and with Profar and
Tatise and now you throw this on top of it.
I don't know what we're gonna get from the Dodgers
tomorrow in Game three.

Speaker 4 (08:14):
There are so many storylines. There's so many, like I mean,
when you, of course the Giants and the Dodgers came
west from New York. They continued their rivalry, but recently
the Dodger's biggest rival by the Padres, even though everyone
calls him the little brother the Padres on the season
series this year, I think they were five and one

(08:35):
at Deco Park against the Dodgers this season. You know
what happened two seasons ago in the postseason, where the
Dodgers won Game one at Dodgers Stadium. Prodgers won Game two.
They went back to Deco and the Padres won both
games there. And I have a really bad record when
it comes to covering the Dodgers, and somehow I do

(08:56):
feel a little responsible. I do feel like I might
be at fault, even though I haven't thrown a pitch
or swung a bat. We kind of went back over
the last week many times that I recumbered the Dodgers.
I am currently on a seven game losing streak when

(09:18):
I've been out there.

Speaker 1 (09:19):
I can't believe they still allow you at the state yet.
That would be it. There's not a picture. Don't let
this guy in. We lose when Rob.

Speaker 4 (09:24):
Fukuzaki, Okay, okay, here it is. So this Saturday game one,
it was my day off, so Kurt Sanoval went so
I the Dodgers fell behind early, so I'm thinking, ah,
it's not me, right, it's not me. And then they
came back and they won, so they won. I'm not

(09:45):
there last night. I was there, so I'm on this.
Of course, in Arizona, I was there last year football
games at Dodger stayed at hand the one game in
Arizona when he got swept. So I'm I don't know,
I'm a black cloud. I might be, but I like said,
haven't thrown a pitcher swung a.

Speaker 1 (10:01):
Bad So you're the cooler. That's what you are banning.
Average is the same as Mookie.

Speaker 4 (10:08):
See that's that's me.

Speaker 1 (10:11):
Oh, Rob Fukazaki Channel seven in LA with us Jason
Smithson with Mike Harmon. All right, So so Rob, just
really quick now because because we back to the Machado
part of this now, it's been a really difficult last
twenty four hours and the Padres everything they have done
seems to have gotten under the Dodgers skin. The whole
ball throwing from Machado in is like got the Dodgers

(10:33):
all hyped up. And I don't know, the Padres don't
have the Dodgers exactly where they want them right now
because they're worried about this crazy stuff and and all
off the field getting under your skin. And like I said,
I don't know what that's going to mean for tomorrow
in Game three, in Game four, you know, Dave.

Speaker 4 (10:48):
Roberts, before the postseason began, he did say that this
team has the Dodger team has a different edge to
it this year. They can overcome what they experience the
past two seasons, which was a great regular season and
they just petered out in the postseason in the divisional round.

(11:09):
I don't know exactly what he means by that. I
don't know if he means that they have the show
Hay effect. They got Otani, Obviously that worked. In Game one,
Otani was over four, which to strikeouts last night. You know,
obviously the Dodgers have so many injuries, and I just
don't know how they can compete when it comes to

(11:31):
Michael King. Obviously he's the hottest pitcher for the Padres
and maybe all of you know major League Baseball at
this moment besides Super Bowl. But I don't know. I
have a lot of that here we go again kind
of feeling in me, and I hope it's it's not true,
because you go through a long, one hundred and sixty

(11:52):
two game Major League Baseball season and it ends like
that two years ago, last year and you go through
another great season. Dodgers made the playoffs for the twelfth
consecutive time, and that's one thing I really want to cover.
I want to cover the Dodgers winning a World Series.
We couldn't go to Islington in twenty twenty. So in
my thirty years in Channel seven I have never covered

(12:14):
the Dodgers winning a World Series. I would love to
do that this year.

Speaker 5 (12:18):
And I just hope they have the tools to pain
that padre lineup. They did in Game one obviously, you know,
five relievers pitched very.

Speaker 4 (12:30):
Very well after yamamotives struggled, so you know they couldn't
do it last night. They need to find some sort
of way to just control that padre lineup.

Speaker 1 (12:40):
Rob Fugazaki, Channel seven Sports Anger, either he or Mark
Brown will have this story in about forty five minutes
at the top of the show.

Speaker 4 (12:48):
Us Mark Brown and two to one at the moment.

Speaker 1 (12:53):
Okay, okay, very good, Jovanna maybe she gets it. Okay.

Speaker 5 (12:59):
I meant.

Speaker 1 (13:05):
Thanks, thank you, jumping on, appreciate it. Uh again eleven
o'clock tonight, this breaking story in Major League Baseball. Robo,
thanks so much.

Speaker 2 (13:13):
Man.

Speaker 1 (13:13):
We'll talk to you soon.

Speaker 4 (13:14):
All right, Jason.

Speaker 1 (13:17):
Nigga, No fuk is great. Fu Kazaki, And you know
it's a funny thing he says, to tell you a
real quick story. When not, because that's you know, twenty
years ago I was producing a Channel seven I produced
Rob Fukazaki show, and whenever a sports story like we
would have three and a half minutes, where Robs just
two minutes. I'm like, oh my god, Like we would
have three and a half or four minutes to do
sports depending on the night. If it's a there's a
busy night in news, we get four minutes. If it's not,

(13:39):
we get three and a half minutes. But whenever there
was a story that News decided, hey, hey, this is
an important sports story. We're gonna do this at the
top of the show, a big win.

Speaker 4 (13:50):
We're gonna do it.

Speaker 1 (13:50):
R gig you guys. I'm like, oh, and I remember
walking into to the our our executive officer going, so
what you're telling me is we can do this, but
if the story is too bad, big, we can't do it. Well,
but this is new, We're the new. This is the
news department. I get this whole. This is we let
them into our homes. People let us into their homes
and they're comforted by seeing the anchors coming in. I'm like,

(14:11):
what are you even talking about? Like, we can't. So
I actually struck a deal. I said, Okay, how about
we do this. What if when there's a big sports
story at the top. We have our sports anchor up
there with the two of you. They can they tee
up the story, throw it to Rob and take that
time out of sports later on. And she said okay.
I was like, all right, So that did it. Now
we'd have a minute and a half of the time.
Then sports later on would be a minute and a

(14:32):
half fun but at least we had that. But that
was the whole attitude was, Hey, sports is fine, but hey,
when this story gets important where you know, news is
gonna do it. We're gonna do this story. We're gonna
do the story. Well, thanks to Rob for coming on.

Speaker 3 (14:43):
And he basically told folks he can't he can't go
to the games until the World Series.

Speaker 1 (14:48):
Yeah. Basically, yeah, the Dodgers will win if Rob fuguzan.

Speaker 3 (14:53):
They have to be up three to zero in the
World Series before he shows up. Who you bet there
could be.

Speaker 1 (14:59):
I don't know where's food? He ended yo foks at
the game. I'm not betting on him. No, no, sur
at his front door. Make sure he doesn't leave. I
got the opponent on the money line. So there it is.
There's the latest on the Walker Bueller stories. We learn
more about it will bring it to you crazy Jason
Smith Mike Harmon live from the Tireck dot Com studios.
We have more from the Major League Baseball playoffs and

(15:20):
more on the big result tonight from Monday Night Football.
Keep it right here, that's next, Jason and Mike Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (15:26):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio.

Speaker 1 (15:36):
App Fox Sports Radio. The Jason Smith Show with My
best friend Mike Harmon. Thanks to Rob Fukuzaki, Channel seven,
Los Angeles anchor coming on a few minutes ago talking
to us about this breaking story involving Walker Bueller, Dodger
starter set to go Game three TOMORROWG and San Diego
over the weekend. Bueller at Santa Nita Park, big horse
Racing park just outside of Los Angeles. He and his

(15:59):
wife surrounded by a mob of people where someone unbuttoned
his shirt and stole one hundred thousand dollars watch off
his wrists. Now, we'll have more in the story coming up,
but we're gonna get to Monday Night Football. But you
had a pretty interesting theory because again we don't know
any more than that at this point. You have very
interesting theory about how this went down.

Speaker 3 (16:18):
Well, but as we're talking with Rob right, given Walker
Bueller's history, his upbringing, his connections with horse racing, it's
his pastime, a hobby, side business, all of that stuff
that I'm gonna guess off days and opportunities to go
to Santa Anita or the other tracks down to Delmar
that he's a known person, right, He's got a lot

(16:40):
of celebrity here. We know in Los Angeles the Dodgers
and the Lakers are kings. So with frequent visits there,
that means people are monitoring where you're going, how your dressed,
what you're wearing. Watches and how many have we watched
Flim flam Man and you know movies TV how quickly
you know, demonstration of how quickly you can get a

(17:01):
watch off someone without them knowing, oh, you lift their
wallet and all those things. So I'm wondering if it
isn't a little bit of that, Oh look it's Walker Bueller. Bam.

Speaker 1 (17:09):
Where where was Manny Machado? Oh stop stop stop.

Speaker 3 (17:15):
But just the idea that you know it was killed
Dave Roberts evidently, I mean, Dave Roberts rules this out.

Speaker 1 (17:21):
I mean, is Dave Roberts gonna be able to manage tomorrow?
I don't know my aunt rule it out. Look, this
is the and again it's it's a it's a breaking story.
And we'll have more on this as it comes up.
This is obviously the last thing the Dodgers need going
into tomorrow in Game three, all right, because you look
at what they're coming off of this past Game two.

(17:42):
Last night, you are Jerks and pro far messing with
the fans in the outfield when he steals a home
run away from Mookie Betts. You had for Nanto Totiz
Junior wriggling his hips like he's Elvis on television in
the nineteen fifties at the Dodger fans in the stands
and right field. And then you have Ballgate, which is
Manny Machado throwing a ball into the dugout between innings
that the Dodgers allege Manny Machado through with purpose at

(18:05):
Dave Roberts. Now we've seen the video. Is this Manny
Machado looking point and just firing one as fast as
he can at Dave Roberts. No, was this him probably
just being a fly on the ointment or being a
little bit of a Hey, here's some gamesmanship. I'm gonna
toss this ball close to where you are. Yeah, I
got your attention, kind of look up and wave. I mean,

(18:26):
Roberts says in his comments he didn't even recognize it.
And then all of a sudden he's aggrieved and there's problem, Like,
I get it. You know, you've got to make your
strong statement to Major League Baseball because you got to.
You gotta win back a little bit, because the Dodgers
has an organization because of a couple of knuckleheads got
painted as the worst people in the world over the
course of the last twenty four hours. And there's two

(18:48):
big takes there's two big takeaways from this now as
you go in. Number one is that because then you
had the Jack Flaherty throwing it, fro Nando Tatis Junior
and Machado gets mad. They're screaming at each other. This
is the last thing the Dodgers need. This is why
I said the Padres are the worst matchup for the
Dodgers because of the rivalry. The Padres rely on a
lot of emotion and that doesn't get you through one

(19:10):
hundred and sixty two games, but it gets you through
a five game playoff series. And the Padres know this,
and they have already gotten so far under the Dodger's
skin that everything they're doing is working, from the teasing
of the fans to Machado throwing the ball. Now, the
Dodgers are focused on this, right, they want major League
Baseball to look at this video. They're looking the video

(19:31):
and go, okay, everything seems to be fine. Like for
the Padres, their plan is working, right, Their plan is
working because they know with this, with this situation, we
have found a way to get under their skin. They
blow out the Dodgers in Game two. Now we're going
in for game three. Who knows where the Dodgers' attention
is at. Now you throw on this the deal with
Walker Bueller coming into game three. So for the for

(19:52):
the Padres, it's it's smart, right, this is a strategy
that's working. Now. The flip side of it is this,
and I will say this is that what the stuff
that went on, specifically with Profar and the fans and
to tease in the fans, what happened after fans started
throwing balls out on the field. On Profar started throwing
stuff on the field. Podters had to call time out.

(20:12):
Mike Shilt had to go out there and talk to
his team, talk to the umpires. This is not to
absolve anybody, because anybody throws stuff on the field like
that at a player to get kicked out and you're
not allowed to go back in the game. Right, that
is unacceptable and that is not cool. That is not
something that can even be tolerated. For a second. Right,
you cannot see that. You cannot do that. You identify

(20:33):
those fans, get rid of and say no, you're not
doing it. If I was Mike Shilt, though, I would
say this to the guys, I would say, guys, let's
just be smart. Let's not antagonize the fans. Let's not
let's not you know, shake our hips at them, and
let's not mess around with them thinking they have a
ball when they don't, because we don't know what's gonna happen.

(20:53):
We don't know how that's gonna go. It's why in
a road rage situation, if someone cuts you off and
flips you off and does your you don't go after
them and godrick, because you don't know what's gonna happen everything.
You don't know who's in that other car. You don't
know what that's gonna be like. It's not smart. It's
never smart to take on fans in any shape or form,
whether you are saying, hey, our fans didn't support us,
it's not smart. But you definitely when you are a

(21:16):
visiting player, especially in a series as contentious as this,
don't do something that's going to inflame a situation. Again,
I'm not victim blaming. I'm just I told you what
the Dodger fans did was that. But be smart. You
don't know what's gonna happen. And it's not that all
the Dodger fans are bad, but only is one guy
throwing batteries or a baseball that's gonna hit you. That's
all you need. So I would just listen. Guys, whatever

(21:37):
happens between the white lines. You want to mess around
with the Dodgers, you want to mess around with the player, Hey,
all right, let's do that. But because you don't know
what's gonna happen, I don't want because I don't want
you to be ready for a play and get hit
in the head with a battery, right, So just let's
understand that that's the case. This is a really amped up,
very viral situation right now. So let's let's not give
anything out there and give more ammunition to having a

(21:58):
situation go out of control. This is just hey, just
be smart when it comes to stuff like that, because again,
not right. Fans should get thrown out. They should not
do that. It should be a world we don't have
to worry about that. But unfortunately, this is the way
things go. This is the world we live in, so
you have to worry about things like that. So I
just hope he says, hey, listen, guys, be smart, don't
antagonize the fans.

Speaker 3 (22:19):
But that's it, you know, Hilton drew from the anchorman,
Hey stay classy san Diego in his message to things.
But it's to your point of when you've got it
that contentious. There's over fifty thousand people in that ballpark.
It's rocking, and we watch it series after series. I
found it interesting. Got a couple of minutes of Tim

(22:40):
kaits AM five seventy LA Sports, our flagship here of
Fox Sports Radio in Los Angeles, kind of making the
point of Dave Roberts got is not getting the heat
in this series. It's falling on the players for once,
you know, because he didn't give up the six home runs.
But all of that to say, you know, fanning the

(23:01):
flames by by saying, hey, we're going to lodge the
complaint on that side and from the padre side of
antagonizing the fans, like you're ramping it up unnecessarily, right,
you're adding extra variables to the equation. And it's perhaps
tired in cliche, but we always go back to the
fan fanatic kind of thing. And no matter how well

(23:22):
behaved fifty thousand, seven hundred and fifty one are, if
there's another two people in the park acting like jackasses,
guess what. Everybody gets painted with a really broad brush.
And it only takes one or two people to create
real chaos in that kind of environment. We saw how
it spilled into the parking lots. Now it was, at

(23:43):
least from what I saw, it was all Dodger on
Dodger fans, So a lot of anger. But you just
see how much the emotion is right under the skin, right,
it's right there, so every little thing just can take
it over the top, Like how much do we need
to watch on the local news, the national news, to
recognize we're not in a.

Speaker 1 (24:04):
Good way in terms of civility. It's gone.

Speaker 3 (24:08):
So anything you're doing to help, you know, poke, poke
the bear, you can't do it anymore. Right, the resing
and ripping your friends or family. We see how many
fights that causes over Sunday football for crying out loud,
let alone, you get liquored up, you're at a ballpark,
you feel ten feet tall and bulletproof, and all of

(24:28):
a sudden, you gotta project all in your hand. I mean,
it's be smart. Just just just say no. It's like
the don't hit send that just apply it quite liberally.
Although I can't use him as an example anymore for
all the stuff going on in Arizona State.

Speaker 1 (24:47):
And out of all the crimes that were committed, Mashadow
committed the biggest one. Almost killed Dave Roberts. You know,
that's funny though.

Speaker 3 (24:57):
I saw the Dave Roberts reaction to the video before
I saw the video.

Speaker 1 (25:02):
And then and then we see that, but then we
see the ball dribbling. Well yeah, and the thing that
wasn't there, Mike, Dave might not be here. Okay, okay, Okay, look, Masada,
was he being an instigator? Absolutely, and that's the very

(25:23):
nice and that's it, And that's the overwhelming arc here
is that. Yes, okay, Padres, you know, be smarter about about,
you know, instigating the fans understanding it could get out
of control. But the Padres are the villains that we
need in the playoffs. Oh, it's a great They are
playing this role immensely well, right for the for the
fact that, hey, because being the villains, that's the thing

(25:46):
we can find. There's no villains. Hey, not only are
we the villains, we're the villains with the Dodgers were
becoming the villains. Hey, this brings us together. We're villains
on a baseball field. Okay, that's fine. This is not
villains where oh my god, this is being a villing
on a baseball Does it turn into the Warriors? It
is that come out and play the night furies are here,
the baseball theories are here. But this is why it's

(26:10):
working so well because look at where the Dodgers are.
I mean, they're so discombobulated, right, no other way. Dave
Roberts is talking about, let's.

Speaker 3 (26:16):
Send video to bit what do you like we can't
when we came into the postseason questioning where we're at, right, Dodgers,
it's it's world series or bust. Let's call it what
it is, right based on the last twelve years, and
we already had a lot of questions about the rotation,
how you're gonna go through and can you get five
innings out of your starters, get to the pen and
manage it from there. Mookie Bets fred Freddy Freeman's not

(26:39):
appearing in the rest of the series. I mean, that's
a story that's man, that's something like inside like that's
by the classifieds. At this point, with all these other
stories that are circulating around, he's out. Mookie Bets can't
buy hit now. He's robbed of a home run, and
certainly plenty of folks with the question of hey, why
was there a part in the red seed down in

(27:01):
that corner to allow him to make a catch unfettered?
That's a question folks have to ask and do a
little soul searching. That might have been Mooki betts first hit.
It might have opened the floodgates and everything from that
three for forty four funks suddenly goes awry.

Speaker 1 (27:16):
But all of that to say you don't need to
add and complicate this any further. Yeah, this is where
you have to just say, you know what, let's just
go play baseball, because right the Padres have a huge
advantage going They're gonna be home, the place is gonna
be rocking, and it's it's My concern for the Dodgers
is about at a ten because coming in you knew

(27:38):
pitching was gonna be a weakness, and now it's even
more than that. Now you don't even know. I would
be if they lose Game three. I wouldn't be surprised
if Otani as your opener game Well, what are.

Speaker 6 (27:46):
You getting out of.

Speaker 1 (27:50):
I will not be in case of emergency, I can
give you twenty pitches. I can give you twenty great,
go boom, you're starting game four then, But what do
we get for Bueller tomorrow? Where's his head?

Speaker 4 (28:00):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (28:01):
This is not the twenty twenty and it's not the
twenty twenty walker, right, we already had questions before with
the era of six and a half. This year, that's
what it is. How's he gonna know what time it is? Oh,
he'll ask someone, He'll ast Gino Smith, what time it
was Oh damn, how'd that work out for Gino in
San Diego? That one back? Hey, happy tenth anniversary. That
was ten years ago last week. I meant to tell you,

(28:21):
Is that right? It was ten years ago? I wonder
why you didn't remind me tell him how to find
out what's trending in the wide world of sports from
man who wants through a baseball at Manny Machatto and say.

Speaker 6 (28:35):
Whoa nice And of course all you have to do
is say hello, and he'll challenge you to a fight
in the parking lot.

Speaker 1 (28:42):
Hey, man, he Steve de Sagred, let's go, hey, hey,
do you have a relationship with many like Dave.

Speaker 6 (28:48):
Roberts Los Angeles had a relationship with him for about
three months and that's all they could stand. There's a
reason he's not a Dodge Johnny Hustle, Man, that's Hustle.
I can't believe you, guys, you're asking me to be
like Johnny Hussel. The NL Division series each continued tomorrow
on FS one. Mets hosts the Phillies five pm Eastern Time,

(29:09):
and then nine pm Eastern Dodgers at Padres. That will
be Walker Bueller starting for La against Michael King of
San Diego, who had the twelve strikeout game in the
wildcard against Atlanta last week. Bueller for the season for
La went one and six eer five point three eight.
He's coming off Tommy John surgery has not looked like

(29:29):
his old self usually. Last start five innings, one run aloud,
and that was against San Diego. The game fours will
each be Wednesday on FS one. By the way, all
four series at this point division series in MLB all
tied at a game apiece because Kansas City won at
Yankee Stadium tonight four to two over New York mikel.

Speaker 1 (29:47):
Garcia with four hits.

Speaker 6 (29:48):
Royals offense struck out fifteen times, but they scored four
runs in the fourth inning against losing pitcher Carlos Rodan.
Detroit won at Cleveland today three to nothing on a
three run homer in the top of the nine nine
thought the best closer, Emmanuel Clause the hit by Kerry Carpenter,
and it came after two two out singles. The Guardians
offense went three for twenty eight eleven strikeouts in the loss.

(30:12):
The Tigers in the game one loss had gone four
for twenty nine thirteen strikeouts in defeat Detroit's Trek schoobl
no decision, but was great again today seven innings, eight strikeouts,
the guy who led the American League in wins and
era and strikeouts this year. By the way, the WNBA
is off the semifinals and tomorrow with Connecticut's game five
at Minnesota. New York eliminated Las Vegas yesterday three games

(30:35):
to one, and the NHL regular season opens for many
teams on Tuesday or Wednesday. The three games Tuesday, five
games on Wednesday, in fact in Prague. Over the weekend
regular season, New Jersey defeated Buffalo twice. A reminder Friday
night in college football on Fox TV, Northwestern at Maryland
also a noon Saturday noon Eastern time, Washington at Iowa Tonight.

(30:58):
In the Monday night football game NFL at Kansas City,
the Chiefs now five and oh beat New Orleans twenty
six thirteen. Saints quarterback Derek Carr left in the fourth
quarter with an oblique injury. Tight End Taysom Hill was
out with rib fractures. New Orleans was averaging over thirty
points a game. Kansas City's on a bye next week,
and Harrison Butker went four for five on field goals.

(31:18):
Tonight Casey had forty minutes time of possession, Kareem Hunt
twenty seven carries one hundred two yards in a score,
and Patrick Mahomes in victory three three hundred and thirty
one yards passing. Now, they didn't do so well in
the red zone, but still, it's amazing how often this
team can win without hitting on all cylinders. The season

(31:41):
of Chief Star wide receiver Rashi Rice is expected to
be over due to his knee ligament injury. According to
NFL media, surgery for him tomorrow. Forty nine Ers kicker
Jake Moody will miss a few weeks with a high
ankle sprain. The colt say quarterback Anthony Richardson is still
their starter when healthy. The Tampa Bay Bucks will fly
to New Orleans tom instead of Saturday, ahead of Florida's

(32:02):
next hurricane. Tampa Bay plays this Sunday at New Orleans.
The SEC Conference find Vanderbilt one hundred thousand dollars because
it's fans stormed the field after beating Alabama Saturday. Number
one ranked Texas expects quarterback Quinn Yours to start against
rival Oklahoma on Saturday after an oblique injury the Longhorns
are back to number one in the new AP poll.
By the way, Miami is six and oh up to

(32:25):
number six. I'm guessing most of the country did not
see the comeback win on Saturday night.

Speaker 1 (32:31):
At cal As.

Speaker 6 (32:33):
It ended at two point thirty in the morning Eastern time.
But wow, amazingly Miami Hurricanes still undefeated, so their number
six Alabama filled to number seven.

Speaker 1 (32:43):
Back to you, Thank you, Steve O. The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Carmon Live from the tirerack dot Com Studios.
Coming up next, we tell you the two biggest things
coming off of Monday Night Football. What both the Chiefs
and the Saints have in common after the Chiefs win,
what both sucks?

Speaker 4 (33:00):
It's next?

Speaker 1 (33:01):
The Chiefs are five and a man. That's next Jason
and Mike Fox.

Speaker 2 (33:07):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern seven
pm Pacific.

Speaker 1 (33:14):
Fox Sports Radio. The Jason Smith Show with My best
friend Mike Harmon Live from the tirech dot Com Studios.
Where the Chiefs beat the same tonight twenty six thirteen,
Monday Night Football. It was a game. Yeah, the two
we watched it. We saw the result. Yeah, the Chiefs
are five and up. Kareem Hunt look good. Yeah, surprise, surprise, Hey,

(33:35):
I cannot play for you for a few years and
show up and let's get right back into that offen Andy,
you still got that same offense. Yep, alright, let's go.

Speaker 4 (33:42):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (33:42):
Two big things coming off this game. And both these
teams have this in common. They are not the same
that they used to be now different periods of time.
Because for the Chiefs who won, this is not your
Chiefs that you've been used to the last seven eight years.

(34:02):
They are no longer the greatest show on turf. Part two.
Patrick Mahomes is no longer lighted up thirty five forty
touchdowns a year. This is not an exciting team that
picked up the NFL by its lapels and has been
the star franchise that it's been for the most part
of Patrick Mahomes's run. The stuff he did that was incredible.

(34:23):
The tournament to the best quarterback we've seen, my tournament
to the best quarterback, maybe better than Brady, Maybe he
wins more than Brady. This is not the Chiefs anymore.
They don't win this way. Mahomes is more of a
game manager. They have built the team around, Hey, we
have a really good defense and we have a clutch quarterback. Right,
That's kind of what it is. And now it's been
a season and a third of this. This is a

(34:43):
big sample size from beginning of last year to now.
The Chiefs are no longer that great, hey, glitzy show.
They are just another really good NFL team that wins
with a clutch quarterback. That's kind of what they are.
They're no longer the show they were. They're different. They're
not as exciting, not as much fun. Mahomes doesn't throw

(35:04):
for three fifty and four touchdowns a week. They are
another they're just enough. I mean, I say, just another,
but they're another just another really good team in the NFL.
We got lots of those with a clutch quarterback. We
have a lot of those. Now we don't have a
lot like Mahomes doing have as many with clutch defenses
like the Chiefs have. They always have been able to
make the stop at the right time. But that's kind
of what they are now. They're not what they were
and as a result, they're not as exciting. It's not

(35:26):
you just tell the juice around their games is not
quite there. We keep waiting for the Chiefs of all
the bounce back, They're not coming back. That's not how
they're built anymore. This is the new Chiefs, like them
or not. And like I said, it's not as much
fun as they I know.

Speaker 3 (35:37):
There was a little bit of heat tonight because of
Taylor Swift showing up and you know, making the rounds,
or the comments from Bill Belichick hanging out with the
Manning brothers or whatever else. That's all fine and good,
but yeah, there's no sizzle to this squad. A couple
of deep shots, right, We had the fifty yard pass
interference penalty. You could argue about whether it was interference
or whether were these just small enough to work.

Speaker 1 (36:00):
Any hand gets near him, he falls down. I mean,
you know one of the one side of the other
one is one and twenty five pounds, and me, come on, man,
you can knock them over.

Speaker 3 (36:08):
Yeah, they got Smith Schuster comes back, has a big game,
and it's curious, you know, watching as they get into
their bye week five and zero. Mahomes has this streak
of games with at least one interception and this was
a tip drill. Right, Smith Schuster should have caught that
ball and fallen into the end zone. Shouldn't have called
that play. I think the Seahawks showed us that a

(36:30):
couple of years ago in.

Speaker 1 (36:30):
The Super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (36:31):
I mean it was even part of game day on
Saturday when Marshawn Lynch was hanging out and Saban.

Speaker 1 (36:38):
Said, hey, I would have giving you the ball.

Speaker 3 (36:39):
You know, so you have all of that, but suffice
to say, how many teams are special in the AFC.
You thought the Bengals were gonna be good. Nah, you
thought this thought that it's right now the Ravens and
they have their issues their defense states. But but you
look at the Chiefs. You've got the quarterback, you've got

(37:00):
the head coach. Kelsey had a nine catch game, and
all these guys are getting reps. So as the year
goes on, I'm assuming you don't have more attrition, you
get better and the continuity's better. Again, it won't be pretty,
but it's winning football.

Speaker 1 (37:15):
Yeah, that look that that's what. But it's just not
the same. The rock Stars of the NFL are no more.
That era is not coming out.

Speaker 3 (37:21):
No, it's tough, right, It's like the last title that
the Warriors won, right, they were rock stars up here
and then Splash and then it was like, oh wow, they.

Speaker 1 (37:31):
Want another title. It's the couple who was together in
their twenties when the guy was in a band, it
was really cool and boy he had the long hair
and everything was great. And then in their thirties, well
he's got a haircut. He works in it now provides
for his family. Hey, okay, still doing great things. But boy,
you're not the rock star you were. Now you kind
of you wear a collared shirt and pants to work out.

(37:52):
I kind of have to. Now you have a couple
of kids, I'm married. Were you watching runs a boy
meets Worlds?

Speaker 5 (37:56):
I mean?

Speaker 3 (37:57):
And now he doesn't work in it. But you know
the dad was in a band with the guys from
the Monkeys.

Speaker 1 (38:03):
I mean, I mean, that's that's kind of what it is. Oh,
you grew up all right.

Speaker 4 (38:08):
Now.

Speaker 1 (38:08):
The other part of this are the Saints, And when
we say they're not who they were, this is why
after two weeks in the NFL season, you don't anoint
them they're the next great team in the NFL because
we knew they weren't. They were a bad team coming
into the year. But they beat the Panthers, who were
the worst team in the NFL and they blow out
the Cowboys, who turns out the Cowboys aren't that great.

(38:29):
But because it's two weeks in the beginning of the
season and not the middle season, it was all the
Saints are so good at their receivers are so fast,
and all the time I get Dennis Allen more pre
snap motion things a little bit better.

Speaker 3 (38:41):
It kept up from getting fired, and he moved down
the most likely list behind your guys.

Speaker 1 (38:46):
But we told you that the Saints that they're not
that great now, and after two weeks. It's only because
this happened in the beginning of the year, trust me.
And look what happened when they played better teams the
last three weeks. They're owing three, right, I mean that
that's just you know, you can't. You can't anoint the
team to the can't put a team in the super
Bowl in September. You can't do it now.

Speaker 3 (39:05):
Carr left the game ri rib injury, waiting on more
tests than everything else.

Speaker 6 (39:11):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (39:11):
But some folks on Twitter theorizing, wow, what a chess
play by him. DeVante Adams will be a Saint in
another week.

Speaker 1 (39:21):
Yeah, I don't worry when the Jets gets spanked on
Monday night by the Bills, that trade will be done
on Tuesday. Here the bidding commences. Let's go, let's do
a live auction. Can't win this, especially when you're not
that great a team, and now here they are bad.
They're closer to being the bad team we said they
were gonna be there already being a great team. Can't
Run the Ball by Alvin Kamara is just a guy
uh exit out about a Fresco exit swollen dome. The
