com the way tire buying should be. I've now seen

(00:49):
this video approximately fifty times. Uh huh, and I can't
tell you how mad I am about this. And I
really hope there's a good reason, because it still draws
your ire.

Speaker 3 (01:00):
Usually you get disensitized to something if you're watching it
fifty times.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
It's so embarrasses and diminishes and treats Luca like a
little kid.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
All right, So I thought it was the Aaron Rodgers video. No, no, no,
it's the Aaron Rodgers podcast that he's done. Which one.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
So following the Mavericks wing, look, it's spend a lot
of time tonight talking about the Mavericks win over the
t Wolves, and Edwards and Luca and Kyrie. Video has
been put up within the last twenty five minutes of
the Mavericks celebration in the locker room. Now it looks
like it's either just inside the locker room just outs,
but I think it's inside the locker room. You can

(01:35):
tell they're on the inside of the doors where the
locker room is. Luka Doncic is standing up against the
wall hanging out with his dad and he's drinking a beer. Right,
just has the beer in his left hand. He takes
a sit, he holds it his dad. They're hugging players
and hugging some people around the team. And while this
is happening, Michael Finley, who is the Mavericks Director of

(01:58):
player Development, like former former Maverick star, now very high
up on the team. He just walks up to Luca
and takes the beer out of his hand, takes the
beer and you're swoop goes and hugs his arms his
dad and walks away, and the look on Luca's face
and mean, you can say it's all over Twitter right now.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
The look on Luca's face. Finley takes it, and the
look is like, dude, what are you doing? And then
Finley walks away with it, and Luca just gives a
shrug of his shoulders like whatever the hell that.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
Was, Like, come on, man, this is not the outside
of a school dance.

Speaker 3 (02:32):
And the vice principal walks out and sees a guy
drinking a beer saying, I'm not gonna get your job,
but I'm gonna take this from you right now. That's
what this looks like.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
It looks like he's I'm seventeen years old, I'm outside
of dance and I shouldn't have the beer, but I'm
with the cool kids hanging out outside the dere look
as a twenty five from me. You can drink beer.
You're alive, drinking beer as legal.

Speaker 3 (02:49):
We've seen champagne celebrations, We've seen beerd tosses, We've seen
it all, and suddenly this is this is no good.
I have to wonder for Michael Finley's part of it.
Did he have a bunch of media obligations. Lucas still
had to get to where there some more podium time
or individual opportunities that he didn't want him hammered for.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
I'm hearing that.

Speaker 3 (03:11):
This was gonna be to look first of all, there
he's better have a good reason or he's got to apologize, like, oh,
the camera's on. I don't want you drinking beer in
the locker rooms. I'm gonna put that on a T shirt.

Speaker 1 (03:23):
You see guys drinking beer in the locker room and champagne.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
It's part of the South.

Speaker 3 (03:27):
You let the guy have a beer, you don't take
it out of his hand. You're taking the beer out
of my hand. I just take it like, I mean,
it's a great move. He snatched it, he grabbed it
like you shouldn't have this, Like this is illegal, Like
you're gonna go like is he because he's gonna go.

Speaker 2 (03:44):
Meet the media.

Speaker 3 (03:46):
To meet But the other thing is I mean Finley's
hand is huge, so it kind of disappears. It's almost
like the Andre the Giant effect.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
You know.

Speaker 3 (03:54):
I almost feel like Luca thought Finley was gonna play
a joke on him, right Andy with the beer, Like
he's like whatever, like you just pissed off the biggest star.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
You told him you can't have a beer in the locker.

Speaker 3 (04:05):
I think anybody asked him about that after what No, No,
this has got to be after his media availability. No,
I'm sure there's still someone waiting to get one more quote.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
He's not sitting there doing a beer bong or anything.

Speaker 3 (04:17):
He's not like held upside doing upside down keg stand
Come on, man, that would have been fun in front dad.
He's not doing even more right, you're hanging with your pop. Well,
the dad doesn't even know what happened because the dad's
just f Yeah, I'm sure Luca told him, God just
stole my beer. I'm cursing at him in Slovenian, That's
what I'm doing. Yeah, And Lucas says something to Finley

(04:38):
as he walks off.

Speaker 4 (04:39):
But you try reading the only thing that can make
sense is and it doesn't make sense. But in Finley's head,
it's not time to celebrate yet. We still got to
win four more.

Speaker 1 (04:49):
Yeah, I get that, but you do You just went
to the You just went to the NBA finals. You
have a week off, You're not you're not watching film tonight.
You are celebrating a victory after you knock a team out.
You're going to the bleeping NBA Finals and you walk
in and take the beer out of your best players,
and like, what's wrong with you?

Speaker 2 (05:05):
Man? You're not my dad, that's all. You're not my dad.

Speaker 3 (05:08):
That's my dad right, you know my dad is standing
right next to me. Actually, that's the whole thing. You're
not my dad. You're not my real dad. This is
my dad right here. It's just a little pot I mean,
you know, no, that mean Luke only played thirty seven minutes?
Did he not sweat off there?

Speaker 1 (05:24):
I really I can't tell you how much this bothers me.
And I don't know what the good explanation can be
for it. I really don't.

Speaker 3 (05:30):
I don't know you can know how smooth you'll be
when you take that beer, honest.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
So he'd you know, and hey, hey, yeah, there's a difference. Way.

Speaker 1 (05:38):
I'm not gonna do it when she's twenty five. You know,
you're twenty five and you're roster. Then it looks like
a good beer too.

Speaker 2 (05:45):
And that's not like a that's not like a bud
Light or a Miller.

Speaker 3 (05:47):
Yeah, but it's in a can. How good could it
be really, you know, ice cold in a can, good.

Speaker 2 (05:51):
Beer in a camp.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
Yeah, but you ever have can delicious? But we have
a beer, and a bottle is always better than beer
in a can, it is. I mean, I'm sure, you bear,
I'm sure it's a good beer. I'm sure it's probably
Michael Finley took them all. I'm sure that you all right,
it's Findley. You keep saying Michael Finley like, hey, Brian Finley, Okay,
it's well, I mean he walk up gate hey and

(06:12):
took his beer.

Speaker 1 (06:13):
He man, I'm just I'm just so embarrassed for the
Mavericks and I'm embarrassed for Luca for this that.

Speaker 2 (06:20):
Yeah, hey, I'm coming to take your beer. Why are
you taking my beer? What am I doing? Why? A
you're taking my beer? What? What?

Speaker 4 (06:25):
What is it?

Speaker 3 (06:26):
Some kind of power tripper? Hey, I'm going to act
like the VP of basketball here. This is what I'm
doing right now. This is what I'm doing now. We
actually have audio justin fraud founded. Uh and this is
audio of Michael Finley taking the beer from Luca.

Speaker 2 (06:41):
Is that what you have?

Speaker 4 (06:42):
It's a Luca audio of Finley taking the beer from.

Speaker 2 (06:46):
Okay, so so Michael, it's Finley.

Speaker 3 (06:48):
That's stop the same fly hey, Hey, and Michael Finley
just blow Luca by taking his beer. Hey. So this
is Michael Finley taking the beer from Luca, and this
is Luca audio after it happens.

Speaker 2 (07:03):
Okay, let's hear it.

Speaker 3 (07:03):
Hey, careful, man, I don't think he was fighting him
and beating him up.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
Well, I mean, this aggression will not stand, man, No,
it won't. Ah.

Speaker 1 (07:18):
And you know, look, maybe I am reading to me
because you know, when this happened to me when we
were all at the Super Bowl a few years ago,
I was a little upset about.

Speaker 2 (07:28):
Oh there you go.

Speaker 1 (07:30):
Hey, I'm not gonna say I won't say who it was,
but I will. I'm not gonna say you it was Harmon,
Harmon and I in Frostburg.

Speaker 2 (07:39):
It was a Jay Glazier's.

Speaker 3 (07:40):
Party right right right before we got went and met
Chuck Odell. Yeah, that's all, that's right. He came over
and it was it was a Glazer palooza. Was the
Charles Woodson Knight. That's right with Charles woods Yeah, stories
a tough night. I can't wait to go to whatever
Jay's got in New Orleans.

Speaker 1 (07:57):
We're a Glazier's party, and we were hanging out and
I'm drinking a chorus Light bottle and we're one of
one of a guy I've known for a long time,
considering her friend here in the business. I wasn't gonna
say his name, but you guys did.

Speaker 2 (08:13):
Frost Spring.

Speaker 1 (08:14):
I did, not ins And we came over it and
we were talking like normal. And I'm sitting there and
he's telling me a story. And we've known each other
for fifteen years now, you know that's how it goes.
We talk on Twitter once in a while. And I'm
sitting there and and we're standing next to each other
in this big high it's a big high table like
you're in a bar, right.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
Next to us.

Speaker 1 (08:33):
So I'm drinking a beer and he's telling me a
story about something like Okay, yeah, I'm drinking a beer
and I drink and I put the beer down on
the table for a second, just because I put it down,
and he's and he's still talking. And I didn't put
the beer down for very long, like maybe not even
five seconds, and he reached over, took the beer and started.

Speaker 2 (08:48):
Drinking it, continuing to tell me that story.

Speaker 1 (08:50):
I'm like, hey, that's I just waited in line for
that beer, just waiting in line for that beer for
like ten minutes, because you know, there's a lot of
people there. I was like, you just took my started drinking.
I put that beer not even five No, I picked
it up and started drinking.

Speaker 3 (09:04):
I'm like, that's we were talking about the five set man,
every second rule of stuff that fell on the floor.

Speaker 2 (09:09):
We just bottled at the table. Good thing. We actually
have audio of you. You you were miked up that
night when this all went down. I forgot I was
miked up. You still have that audio? Oh boy, all right,
you all right, let's let's hear it. Let's hear it. Hey,
careful man.

Speaker 1 (09:28):
That sounds a lot like Luca and I are the
same right here. I mean, no, I've walked now in
the last minute. I've watched now over a hundred times,
and it is. It is pretty smooth watching Finley come over.
Hey beer definily dap the dad walk away. But I mean,
I am so embarrassed because this video is gonna get
out and Luca's gonna go. I was treated like a kid.

(09:50):
You treated I'm I'm the entire bleeping franchise and you
took a beer away from me, Like, come on, man, what.

Speaker 2 (09:56):
Is what is wrong with you? Man?

Speaker 3 (09:58):
I didn't again, I didn't walk out because hey, we're
gonna announce the homecoming King and Queen, and I'm gonna
go with the cool kids now who are wearing flannel
shirts outside of bonfire and we're drinking open past because
you know, we got it for like seven bucks from
the corner store. And you come out and see us,
an oh, busted, and you're taking a beer from me.

Speaker 2 (10:18):
I'm embarrassed for him, man, I.

Speaker 1 (10:20):
Realize this is a lot of look I always say
when when something like this happens, if I'm involved in it,
you know, I never react in a really jarring way
simply because I'm like, Okay, here's the situation. Let's let's
be cool about it. Let's be calm about it. And
that's that whole thing about. Hey, don't don't confuse my
kindness for weakness. Don't don't confusise the fact that I

(10:41):
can be nice about this, that I'm not really pissed,
but that happens like this is how I see Luca, like, hey,
don't don't confuse my kindness because he knew, you know, Look,
he knew I'm not going to make a big deal
out of this because the cameras are on, but.

Speaker 2 (10:54):
This was, this is so embarrassing for him. Man, it
finally comes and takes his beer from.

Speaker 4 (10:59):
You then to ask Luke about this. And during the
NBA finals, Uh, you know when they talked all the.

Speaker 3 (11:07):
Eight days between games, man, how many beers really have
drunk between now and they got.

Speaker 2 (11:13):
Then if he had that one beer?

Speaker 3 (11:16):
Right, So, so Finley comes and grabs the family. Hey, uh,
that's what he said, though he took his beer vomiting
and curious as to what Lucas says to because.

Speaker 2 (11:28):
So capitates the beer from Luca back, body bagged him,
zip tied him anyway, it's between his legs. Beer. We
got friendly drops man. Yeah, there's plenty of him in there.

Speaker 3 (11:43):
I'm sure we can make our own soundboard like we
did with Doc Cambridge.

Speaker 2 (11:47):
Sure to work through.

Speaker 3 (11:49):
Shuttled it, flopped it, dropped it. We did have that
discussion at one point, too fiddled it. But Luca got
a lot of yeah, like there's not another beer.

Speaker 2 (11:59):
Yeah, like I can't get out of the one.

Speaker 4 (12:01):
I I Dad, we're getting dressed. But guys in the
history of snatching beers. This has got to be the
smoothest one.

Speaker 2 (12:09):
It is a smooth.

Speaker 1 (12:11):
That's why it's It's like he's like a teacher that
caught somebody, that caught somebody, like a bomber.

Speaker 2 (12:17):
Didn't no, no, no, coming for the land.

Speaker 1 (12:20):
Well, and but Luca here, Luca did have it in
his non dominant hand. He had it in his left hand,
so probably easier to take it away if it was
then it was in his right hand.

Speaker 2 (12:28):
Yeah, I mean, yeah, I know he can. Celtics are
going to break this down using this tape, aren't. They're
gonna say, hey, go after his left hand. It's weak.
Look at that beer just disappears from his hand. Get
him to move to get him to move to his left,
get him on his left hand, dribble and it will
take them all away. Keys. Jalen Brown, No, I know

(12:49):
you did.

Speaker 1 (12:51):
I mean, I mean, I I can't get over how
upset this video makes me. I mean, is it just
because the cameras are on? But I mean we see,
like I said, we see people celebrating drinking beer all
the time. They're spewing beer at each other in the
locker room. Guys are wearing ski goggles, spraying champagne. This
is just Luca hanging out, not asking for the camera
to be on him.

Speaker 3 (13:12):
Not saying, hey guys, we just won. He's chugging beer.
People are going chug chug, chug, chug, chug chuck. No,
this is just I'm hanging out with my dad and you.

Speaker 2 (13:20):
Come over and take the beer away, like he was
on the Jaguars playing.

Speaker 3 (13:23):
Oh he said four more, man, four more?

Speaker 2 (13:29):
That is really I am so mad about this. I
don't know. I mean from Michael Finley though the power move.
Come on. Now. I remember him when he was a
player at Wisconsin.

Speaker 3 (13:39):
He was fantastic, had a good NBA career, and now
he's able to strong arm the face of the NB
might have had a longer career if he was able
to do stuff like that when he was on the court.
But now Luca might say, you know what, I got
four more games with you, jerk, and take my beer.

Speaker 2 (13:57):
He'd be df.

Speaker 3 (14:00):
I'm eligible for three hundred and ninety six million dollars.
The way he's kakamani all NBA voting things go. But
I don't like you anymore.

Speaker 2 (14:07):
This is the worst blanket beer in all of Major
League Baseball. I can't believe. I really want to see
Luca is prescotmoncem all going.

Speaker 1 (14:13):
Hey, just so you guys know, at most I have
seven games left with the MAVs because I'm out, because
I'm not going to sit here while guys are taking
my beer out of my hand. So hey, I'm ready
to go someplace else. Let's call the Knicks. I'd love
to team up with Jalen Brunson again and worked out
a team like it might work out pretty well.

Speaker 3 (14:29):
I'm done, guys, I'm done, And you tell Michael Finley
that it's his because he took.

Speaker 2 (14:33):
The beer out of I'm strolling out.

Speaker 3 (14:35):
At least cousin Eddie drigging a tall boy, He's got
four more.

Speaker 2 (14:40):
He's gotta slash his tires after this. Oh man, I
don't know. We saw that with soccer players. You can rank.
That's it. That's embarrassing. This is just so embarrassing for Luca.
I feel so bad for him.

Speaker 4 (14:52):
Same.

Speaker 2 (14:53):
I haven't got Anthony Edwards off the hook.

Speaker 1 (14:55):
That is true. That is true. Hey, Anthony, how do
you feel about falling so well?

Speaker 2 (15:00):
Hey? Did you see this video?

Speaker 1 (15:02):
Look at this, guys, this is Michael Finley taking Lucas beer.

Speaker 2 (15:05):
How about that? Hey? Not that? What was your question?
You forget? I forget. Let's talk about this instead.

Speaker 1 (15:10):

Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Harmon livethtirag dot com studios where we are
on Western conferences Overload. It is a huge victory for
the Mavericks tonight, a game that was never in doubt.
They shoot well from the beginning. The Timberwolves did not
one four to one to oh three, and the Mavericks

(17:12):
and the Celtics. We'll meet in the NBA Finals starting
sometime in the next three to four weeks.

Speaker 2 (17:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (17:19):
Game seven schedule for Labor Day. Potentially you could get
moved to Halloween, depending on on what happens over the
course of injuries and keeping everybody healthy.

Speaker 3 (17:26):
Well, it's not time for the in playoffs tournament, isn't it. Oh,
that's why we have to have the in finals tournament. Yeah,
that's right, that's right. We gotta have the three on
three in finals turn it is.

Speaker 2 (17:37):
Let's go.

Speaker 3 (17:38):
Yeah, and then we'll do some rock and Jock kun
of stuff as well. But yeah, I was just disappointed.
This game sucked.

Speaker 2 (17:46):
Right.

Speaker 3 (17:46):
As much as it's cool to watch a team exert
dominance and all that stuff, it's still a all right,
we're sitting here, we want to break down a game
and not just go well, they were terrible. They defended terribly,
a lot of wide open looks and they were dominated
by this two superstars. Not that the role players didn't
have good games and whatever else, but the fact that

(18:07):
Luke and Kyrie just ran rough shot over them. The
entire Tea Wolves lineup. They shot terribly because a lot
of it was even right if you go box score
hunting or even have As you were watching, it's like,
all right, well in theory, should be hanging out. No,
just keep giving up open look after open, look form
the perimeter.

Speaker 2 (18:25):
Yeah. Not a great night. No, not a great night.

Speaker 3 (18:27):
Yah.

Speaker 1 (18:27):
And you know it was a good run. But look,
ye what Look, the Timberwolves had a big run. And
to be quite honest, now this whole hey, Anthony Edwards
face of the league conversation that we've had. H Let's
be honest here, we talked about Edwards last hour. He
wasn't ready for the moment he was. He is a
player that people want to be greater than he is

(18:49):
now instead of giving him time to potentially get there
in the next couple of years. Because he was overmatching
this in this in this series, he was undecided, decisive
at the end of games. He turned the ball over
a lot. He didn't want to take big shots.

Speaker 2 (19:00):
Uh. He this was not his time. This was because
people are gonna win.

Speaker 3 (19:03):
To address this one, because if you didn't watch the game, Hey,
he was ten of eighteen, Yeah he had twenty eight points.
He was minus twenty yeah he was minus thirty five
in the first half. I know okay, minus you wanted
to find live betting odds for his over under as
much as you did the game.

Speaker 2 (19:17):
Minus thirty five in the first.

Speaker 3 (19:19):
Yeah, because I gave you the end game it was
twenty one and a half. Depending where you went on
that one, you sweated that one. I mean it got
down to nineteen and a half one, Dad, it swung
a little bit more.

Speaker 1 (19:30):
But look, the real question is here, because if the
Celtics win, people are still going to find a way
to hate Jason Tatum, So okay, But if the Mavericks win,
Luca is gonna be the face of the league because
this is a guy in his sixty year now twenty
five superstar, a guy who was a finalist for MVP,
and if they win, he's the face of the league.

(19:52):
And yeah, I think we're okay with an international player
being the face of the NBA. You know, we got
this discussion a little bit ago with Rick Buker and
you could tell, oh, well, Luke's a little bit polarizing. Well,
Lebron's been the face of the league for twenty years.
Lebron polarizing, of course he is. Of course, Curry is right,
so right is he? At point guard? How great a

(20:13):
point guard is? All of that stuff.

Speaker 2 (20:15):
You need a young.

Speaker 1 (20:16):
Player who gives you incredible highlights, who has accomplished that
people enjoy watching for either his greatness or to hate.
Watch right, You need that. That's what it is. You
don't have universal love anymore, you know, Jordan. The era
before social media was the last time you would see
a player getting universal love because there's backlash for every

(20:37):
I can show you Patrick Mahomes backlash and you think
this is a guy it's so difficult.

Speaker 2 (20:41):
Yes, I'll show you Mahomes back.

Speaker 3 (20:42):
I'll put up a picture of his wife too. Well,
that's true. You wear a little bit of old Brittany there.
You guys gotta just stop. Hey, I get my brother
involved in the other pig. You guy's gotta stop, man, Dad,
you gotta stop.

Speaker 2 (20:53):
You guys all got to stop. What's going on? Man?

Speaker 4 (20:56):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (20:56):
Talk about the extension of all those chief stories. Don't
forget old jack hound to.

Speaker 1 (21:01):
But it's okay for for an international player because we're
so used to the international stars by now. And yeah,
is he is he gonna? Is he a little polarizing again?
Do people think Luca is whiny?

Speaker 2 (21:11):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (21:12):
And we'll get to that coming up in a few minutes.
But that's all part of his game. And but if
you are a twenty five year old star and you
lead your team through the teeth of the Western Conference
a playoff that is murder, and suddenly you're you're in
there and you're winning the NBA title. Yeah you you,
You're You're bigger than Wemby. You're bigger than lots of
guys in the league that we're still waiting to see
them win their first title or breakthrough. You're bigger than Embiid.

(21:35):
You're you know, you're bigger at this point than Giannis.
Because Giannis is out in the first round and he's injured.
You become the face of the league. And it doesn't
need to be universal love. It's just this is the
best player and look at what he's done since he
came into the league.

Speaker 2 (21:47):
Luca will be the face of the NBA. And I
don't think.

Speaker 1 (21:51):
It'll even be an issue, like, who are you gonna
say if the Mavericks win, you're walking out and going, yeah, well,
still he's not his pop. No, it's all about Luca.
The next week is gonna be all about Luca. A
little bit about Kyrie Irving, all about Luca. A little
bit about Jason Tatum, I still hate the Celtics, doesn't matter,
but all about Luca.

Speaker 2 (22:08):
He's the guy.

Speaker 1 (22:08):
And I'm surprised it's taken him this long for people
to see it because in the regular season, yes, we
see great highlights, great games from people, but Luca's got
a lot of great regular season memories where he's won
games all by himself and now here he is two
Western Conference finals and now in NBA Finals. By the
time he's twenty five, Yeah, it's going to be pretty

(22:28):
easy to say he's the face of the league.

Speaker 3 (22:30):
Well, and the way he dispatched these guys in two
of the wins, yeah, right, the dominant effort tonight and
then that shot against Gobert is going to be there forever, right,
I mean that is just you know, a mark. You know,
if you did one shining moment for the NBA, that's
gonna be one of the big highlights that get shown
time and time again.

Speaker 2 (22:50):
So for Luca.

Speaker 3 (22:52):
And he's a smart ass right by nature, so you
get some good quotes out of him chap ass at
other times. But that's this discussion for a minute. But
you're looking at a changing in the guard and we
talked about it a lot with this playoff run. How
many of the old guard ie established superstars or guys

(23:13):
we've tried to put the superstar tag on weren't available
either via injury or their teams couldn't get it done
right and they got bounced early. Want Zion to be
the face of the league. The guy can't stay hell right,
he had his seventy games and it was like, all right,
here we go. No. John Moran right had his suspension,
came back, was flying around. It's like, ooh, Memphis could

(23:34):
be a problem. And then he gets hurt and misses
the rest of the year. It's like they were going
to be interesting, right because you look at the Western Conference,
think about that for a second. Memphis could have been
another team in to make that back end a mess.
And that's where when we start talking about the off
season maneuvering and where guys might want.

Speaker 2 (23:53):
To look at for free agency or to get traded to.
You know, Western Conference is a killer up.

Speaker 3 (23:58):
And down the lineup, and you know, in theory, san
Antonio gets better after the upcoming draft and free agent
period alongside Wemby.

Speaker 2 (24:06):
But for Luca.

Speaker 3 (24:07):
The time is now all the old guard is kind
of fading away, and people have had their say, right,
they've dissected their game, their personas, their off field pursuits,
right off court endorsements and companies whatever. Like I love
the fact that Kevin Durant utilized his time with the
Warriors not only to win a couple of titles, but
he made all sorts of friends in Silicon Valley and

(24:29):
made hundreds of millions of dollars off the court because
he went and met the right people and invested, and look,
you gotta have the scratch to get into the game.
But again using it wisely got into the trading card market.
So for me and my personal you know, hobbies and
businesses and whatever, that's kind of cool to watch as
well as guys kind of dabble in that and try

(24:50):
to collect their own stuff. But for Luca, like everybody
was ready to write him off after last year, this
isn't going to work. It's like he's twenty four. Now
he's twenty five, and the talk of if it lost
to the Tea Wolves, it was like, all right, his
time must.

Speaker 2 (25:04):
Have been gone.

Speaker 1 (25:05):
That might have been in Yeah, Well it's because It's
not like the Mavericks were trending in a great direction
like a team like the Bucks with Giannis.

Speaker 2 (25:13):
Where every year now we won a title.

Speaker 1 (25:15):
We just got better at the top of the league
where we finished first in the conference every year. No,
the Mavericks were a nice fifty win team West second round,
sometimes losing the first round. And that's to the point though,
in the Western Conference, trying to slog your way to
a good seed and then survive in advance. I mean,
the trade deadline did so much for the team and
certainly for Luca. But yeah, it's his time to shine

(25:38):
and the NBA when we talk about growth and where
they're really maximizing dollars eight states. Now, the one question
I do the one thing for Luca. I wish he
would do a little bit different. And this is this
is not about Luca. You know, hey, he should be
allowed to drink beer after the game, Like, who's going
to be a sponsor? One beer company says, opportunity, you
drink a Heineken. I wish he was better, I say better, Yeah,

(26:03):
I wish he was better with his trash talk because
now we're seeing, oh, Luca likes to talk smack but
what does he like to do. He does it when
all the players faces are turned or when he's backing away.

Speaker 3 (26:14):
Right, He's not got it. Also, gid be better than
just calling everybody your mother blank. He gotta have some yeah,
oh that's true, or you can't guard me and stuff
like that. If you're gonna do it, you need to
look say what you want about Draymond Green was one
of the great trash talkers in the NBA. But he
gets in your face and tells you something that's trash talk.
Luca is like when he does that, he's like the

(26:34):
kid who wants to start a fight and yells and
runs away and hides behind his friends.

Speaker 1 (26:38):
Like when he was yelling at Rudy Gobert, you can't go.
Bear is not even looking at him, right, He's not
doing that.

Speaker 3 (26:44):
When he yells at fans, he yells at fans backing up,
He yells at the he yells at the at the other.

Speaker 1 (26:48):
Team's bench as he's going back up the floor. He
doesn't get in anybody's face. He doesn't say, hey, I'll
talk smack right to you, which is what a lot
of guys do.

Speaker 2 (26:55):
No, I'm gonna do it.

Speaker 1 (26:57):
I'm gonna do it in a kind of snide, backhanded way,
and when you want to fight me, all the guys
are going to jump in front and stop. I mean,
I wish he was a little bit more, I would say, honest,
a little bit more, you know, being a little more
open and forth right, and be a little bit more
gutsy with your trash talk outside of just hey, I'm
gonna yell at the guy as I go by or
when he can't.

Speaker 2 (27:15):
Hear me at all.

Speaker 3 (27:16):
Yeah, I mean, to be fair, the go bet was
too hard to be able to actually communicate that to
him because they were too busy putting the cone of
shame on him like he was in up after he
put him on skates.

Speaker 2 (27:28):
So what wasn't Gobert's fault?

Speaker 1 (27:30):
That's the Yeah, let's we're gonna send you out on
the perimeter on Luca, Bob. You're the defensive taller. Yeah,
but that's not what I do. Great, But you're the
defensive player there. But it's not what I do. Great,
But you're the defense joint.

Speaker 3 (27:40):
Okay, fine, see what happened. See it's like what's her name?

Speaker 2 (27:44):
When she was guarding Kaitlyn Clark and the Haley van Lyft,
What do you want me to do? Keep sending shots
we want me to do? You're shrugging, what do you want?
What do you do?

Speaker 3 (27:52):
That's what Anthony Edwards said about Luca, what do you
want to taking shots from the logo?

Speaker 2 (27:55):
What do you want me to do? What do you want?
There's nothing I can do?

Speaker 1 (27:58):
But outside of that, I mean, look, it's easy to
see him be the face league, and the other part
of it is this, you have to have a little
bit of personality, yeah, to be the face of the league.

Speaker 2 (28:06):
And while yoll Catch is too.

Speaker 1 (28:09):
Much of an acquired taste personality wise, he's the only
very quiet season's over.

Speaker 2 (28:15):
He jets. We don't hear from him a lot.

Speaker 1 (28:17):
Sometimes in his post game he's a little he can
be a little charming, but overall he doesn't quite have
the breathtaking game that Luca does right as good as
he is, he's kind of like Jalen Brunson or an EMBD,
where is it really really something that that physically makes
you go, oh my god, like watching Anthony Edwards leap
over four guys for a dunk. No, it's the genius

(28:38):
of watching him play, and you got a little bit
of a personality. Luca has the game, and he's got
just enough of the personality to make you okay, yeah,
all right, I kind of dig I listen, like to
listen to what he has to say after after games.

Speaker 2 (28:51):
Doesn't have a great.

Speaker 1 (28:52):
Amount of it, but he has a little bit of mystery,
but just giving you enough personality go okay.

Speaker 2 (28:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (28:57):
I kind of like him, and I have a big
opinion on him. Either I think I think, yes, he's
a face of the league, or no, I think he's
too whiny and I love watching him lose. It worked
for Lebron James for twenty years, twenty years for Lebron
James being polarized.

Speaker 3 (29:08):
But two great opportunities for Luca during these playoffs. Won
the moaning video and the reaction there and now Michael
Finley stealing his beer.

Speaker 2 (29:16):
H So you got those two days. By the way,
Despicable Me Force coming out due.

Speaker 3 (29:21):
Are they able to get yo kic you back out
here to be grew on the red carpet.

Speaker 2 (29:28):
I think he's gone. I think that yeah. Hitting the
discotech no, I think I think that's gone. I think
I'm sorry, but I think it's gone. That's got a
hope I don't think that's gonna happen for it. Run
around with Super Cavin or whatever the hell's going on.

Speaker 1 (29:40):
There got be no be no Fox Sports Radio, The
Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Carmon. And
now to a guy who actually had his own minions
before he was forced to give them up to get
the job here at Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (29:54):
Wait to say you're with what's trending?

Speaker 6 (29:56):
Wow, there's still some in the hallway.

Speaker 2 (29:58):
There aren't sticking on them, very small. They're helping, helping
you pull stats and stuff and everything.

Speaker 6 (30:03):
And to no, no, I'm good, especially now at what
ten forty.

Speaker 3 (30:07):
PM, not walking around going Mets Mets.

Speaker 6 (30:14):

Nelly Cords shot a first round eighty at the US

and number two Oklahoma. The NCAA Baseball Tournament starts tomorrow.
Tennessee is number one there and hosting a regional this weekend.
The late game in MLB went to the Yankees eight
three over the Angels. Winning pitcher Carlos Rodin Is seven
and two. He went six innings. Yankee starters have gone

(32:20):
at least four innings in every game.

Speaker 2 (32:23):
So far this year. That ties the all time Yankee.

Speaker 6 (32:26):
Record fifty eight straight games to start a season with
your starting pitcher going at least four. Angel offense went
four for thirty one in Anaheim tonight. Aaron Judge two
run homer in the win. He has eighteen. Juan Soto
with a three run triple Washington three to one winners.
At Atlanta, the Mets edged Arizona three to two.

(33:05):
added no hitter until one out in the seventh.

Speaker 2 (33:08):
He wound up with nine strikeouts in six and two thirds.

Speaker 6 (33:11):
Red Sox offense finished two for thirty with twelve k's
wins today for Minnesota and Milwaukee. Wins for Houston and
Tampa Bay, which in twelve innings edged Oakland six to five.
The A's offense, with runners in scoring position, two for seventeen.

Speaker 2 (33:26):
Back to you, Thank you, Steve O.

Speaker 1 (33:28):
The Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon
coming up next. Well, Frostburg's got a surprise for us,
and I think it's Mets related day Plus Mike and
I give you our picks, our first picks for the
NBA Finals, and of course we will have to hear
the Darren Wallace song one more, one more time, one
more time. Oh, we had a lot to get to

(33:49):
give me rightyo, the next few minutes, chasing to Mike
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (33:52):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific, Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (34:01):
The Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon.
We'll hear the Darren Waller song. Give your NBA Finals
picks coming up in a couple of minutes. But justin
Frosburg has waited all night for this, and I think
I know what's happening.

Speaker 2 (34:16):
Okay, I don't.

Speaker 3 (34:22):
All right, now, you have some tweets, Frostburg, you want
to read. Well, it was some of the best that
I saw. You know, you called me earlier today. Yeah,
and then I jumped on Twitter and I saw that
H thirty four always trending. Okay, okay, sure, And what
was my response to you?

Speaker 2 (34:40):
You just said the Mets already played today. So that's
one That's basically how I'm gonna go already played today. Wow,
I can't say I didn't see that coming.

Speaker 3 (34:52):
Well, sometimes it writes itself that what else you got
guilty on all thirty four?

Speaker 4 (34:58):
That should totally be a three to six month sentence
with the New York Mets.

Speaker 2 (35:01):
Oh, we won today. The Mets won today. We had
a great win today. It's probably early one of the week.
Brandon Nemo has been scratched from tonight's game in light
of today's wording. I don't get it. Okay, i'll get it.
We'll talk about that one off. I don't get I
don't get Okay, it's trendy. I don't get it. All right,

(35:24):
go for thirty four.

Speaker 4 (35:25):
Finally someone in New York with a worse record than
the Mets.

Speaker 2 (35:29):
Oh yeah, we're twenty twenty three.

Speaker 3 (35:32):
I figured there could be a couple of Jets first
half scores.

Speaker 2 (35:36):
For thirty four.

Speaker 4 (35:37):
That's basically the Mets in with runners in scoring position.

Speaker 2 (35:41):
You know, you know you're right about that. That's a
good one. That's the thirty four losses. He would be
a great addition to the Mets pitching staf Mets kick
it out of their own way right now. It is
not even the Mets lose thirty four today. Yeah, that's true.

Speaker 3 (35:58):
Was a Dodger gate was ten to one, though it
was ten to one maybe the other day we have
a double header.

Speaker 2 (36:03):
No, we still look at that many.

Speaker 4 (36:04):
No, that back thirty four and Angel Hernanda is still
called him saved.

Speaker 2 (36:11):
Angel.

Speaker 3 (36:12):
We've gotten so much mileage out of Angel Hernand This
week has been great story story.

Speaker 2 (36:18):
That is true. Other guys are retiring too. It's like,
all right, I'm walking them in my favorite one. Go ahead.
He putting up Tony Gwen numbers on all thirty four counts.

Speaker 3 (36:26):
Uh boy, all right today, So the men that Mets,
even when the Mets win and they lose, well, we
got some Waterloo going water. I found the official Waterloo merchandise.

Speaker 2 (36:42):
By the way.

Speaker 3 (36:42):
Okay, very nice, share with you, all right, But yeah,
Sammy z Ain came in for the save. Not only
is he a belt holder in the w w E,
he now closes out games. And we saw him bowling too.
That's right, he was bowling. He was bold. There's a
hell of a lot of guys that look like you're
closer more. Even Lugo isn't going thirty four And oh come.

Speaker 2 (37:02):
On, said lou was about the team in two and
a half years.

Speaker 1 (37:07):
In the al No, I know, but he hasn't been
there to and a half years. We let him go
and he's wanted to start for the entire time that
mets out him. We don't see it as a star. Okay,
that's great, I'll go someplace else. Let's do this because
this has been in my head all day. Let's hear
a little more of the Darren Waller song.

Speaker 3 (37:24):
John Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, let's go put out a
divorce distrack.

Speaker 2 (37:29):
I guess is that really a distrack? You know?

Speaker 1 (37:31):
Look, he and Kelsey Plum WNBR star Kelsey Plum get divorced.
They were married for about a year and it's been
big news the last week or so. And today Darren
Waller dropped a song complete with a music video and
and and the hook of the song has been going
through my head. The entire really has tormented you. He's
got it. It's him. If the song is from potentially

(37:54):
from Kelsey Plum's perspective about what it is to try
to love him. This is the song. So I don't
know if it's divorce track or if it's a comeback track.
So well, no, it's auto tune terrific. I mean his
auto it's wanantastic audio. You'll ever hear in trust you'll
walk around hum in the song ahead, gris, let's hear
a little bit of it.

Speaker 6 (38:17):
You know it.

Speaker 2 (38:21):
It's hard enough. Lighters in the air. It is hard.
It's to be free, hard to be free. But I
miss it's hard to give audio. San you Bob very nice.
He even has the lighters your heart. But we're twenty
five seconds in some of the few times. Yeah, gets time.

(38:42):
That's what's going through my head. Say time you hear
this after night? How much you.

Speaker 4 (38:52):
So?

Speaker 2 (38:52):
There we go?

Speaker 1 (38:53):
I mean, look, that's going through my head the entire
taking time, tagging down. I'm walking from my house today
going taking time was like, what are you singing? I go,
I wouldn't even I can't even explain it to you,
you know what, just whatever, I'm going to the other room.

Speaker 3 (39:09):
So are you starting to write disk tracks or I
remember you kind of things? Not some ash box kid
wrote kind of thing, but songs that are now playing
in your head where you're trying to put it to
auto tune, see and maybe create some tracks for some people.

Speaker 2 (39:23):
You gave hats too, but here here's the thing, dude.

Speaker 1 (39:26):
If this existed in the early nineties, where you could
do diss tracks and video and auto tune, I'd be
a rock star.

Speaker 2 (39:33):
Man, are you Facebook ladies from the past? No, but
that's why it would have to be.

Speaker 1 (39:38):
And then I'd have to time travel back to the
nineties with auto tune and the ability to have YouTube videos.

Speaker 3 (39:43):
You go back to your reunion and you have a
disc ready for each of them.

Speaker 1 (39:46):
I read, Oh, I'm glad you're here. Here, here's your song.
Oh good, I'm glad you're here. Look, here's your song. Right,
we're gonna play these all here at the reunion.

Speaker 2 (39:53):
Let's go.

Speaker 1 (39:54):
Remember when I went to the bar that night and
you said you weren't gonna be there, and I went
there and I saw you and you were with that
other guy, but you didn't see me because then I.

Speaker 2 (40:02):
Left right after.

Speaker 3 (40:05):
And Phil he saw it all, and Phil saw it all.
I would be a legend. I would be a legend,
especially in auto tune. I like, hey, and I would
like I'd write songs for me and and breakups for
the girls I dated, and I'd write songs for my
friends too. Hey, just give me an hour I'll give
you a great song, especially now time GPT.

Speaker 2 (40:23):
You can add some of the in the vein of
kind of things in time.

Speaker 3 (40:30):
Timberwolves taking time to heal after getting dispatched by the Mavericks.
So we are gonna have now a better part of
a week to preview the NBA Finals.

Speaker 2 (40:41):
But out of the gate right now, give me the
Celtics to win it all. This is.

Speaker 1 (40:45):
If they don't win it this year, they're never going
to Porzingis coming back is a big deal. And I
will bet that Drew Holliday attaches himself to Kyrie uring
they'll let Luca get his points and they'll stop Kyrie.

Speaker 2 (40:56):
And that's enough to win.

Speaker 3 (40:57):
If you're not ready now, you're never gonna be demon
and file by the Afghan Wigs. That is your song
for the Celtics. I'll make the MAVs in six Oh,
look at you go.

Speaker 2 (41:06):
So on opposite sides. We got a week to talk
it out.

Speaker 1 (41:09):
And if the Celtics that they go on, I never again,
look don't win. Yeah, never pick them to win anything again.
It's never gonna happen. And I'm done. I'll be done.
So they come through now on full Steve Sandy on
the Wall, my buddy Ben Maller. Coming up next, Fox
Matsio
