You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:27):
Greetings, Welcome inside final hour tonight The Jason Smith Show
with my bes friend Mike Harmon. Yeah, Buddy, finish strong
Livethetirack dot Com Studios tirec dot com. I'll hope you
get there. An unmatched selection, fast, free shipping, free road
hazard protection at over ten thousand recommended installers. Tirack dot
com is the way tire buying should be. Well, we

(00:50):
got big NFL stuff coming up. We're gonna get to
something crazy that even Jerry Jones can somehow get a
little uh out of his shoes. But the Dodger World
Series parade was today. He saw some really fun stuff
being said by Keith k Hernandez and didn't have a
shirt on and ripped fat Joe Clayton kershaws and all

(01:10):
the emotions hit me. I had nothing to do with
this championship. I'm just so excited to win. But this
is why today is a favorite day of mine, because
a couple of things happen. One you can see what
kind of baseball season we had when after the World
Series is over, if there's still big news that people

(01:32):
are interested in right after it's done. Right, because normally
a season ends, Okay, we get the who's the favorite
for next year, here's a couple of early power rankings,
and we're onto what's next. Right But day after the
World Series, Brazen Angels made a trade big headline today
about Blake Snell opting out of his contract, other players
who have opted out, Pete Alonso, What's gonna happen with him?

(01:54):
Is trending Max Freed all over the internet. It shows
you the kind of year that baseball had that right
after this World Series Yankees and the Dodgers, that we
see all kinds of interest level already in free agency
that's going to begin in a couple of days, and
that's great for the game. And selfishly, this is when
all my favorite websites put all the stuff from twenty

(02:14):
twenty four on half price. So now it's when I
start going all right, now I'm gonna get that hat
I wanted that I wasn't gonna pay fifty five dollars
for in July, but I'll pay twenty five dollars for
it now you're in November.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
Merry Christmas to me, Merry Christmas to me. You don't
have to buy me any day. I went on a
shopping spree. So yeah, it's crazy, right because I brought
up the I sent to you and Patrick in for
justin tonight, the link to the cool Dodger World series jerseys,
the patches, the Kanji characters on the back of the

(02:48):
Yaaloto and Otani those are special edition, and all of that,
and the excitement over different hats whatever. My next door
neighbor had a thing she wanted to surprise her husband,
so she went to a sport good store and started
stacking stuff up, and as she got to the check out,
the guy goes, you know this is all NLCS stuff, right, stuff?

(03:10):
Yet thank you? Because I mean she was gonna buy
like three hundred bucks worth. Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's not
what but you won.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
It doesn't matter, you know, it doesn't matter.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
But but you want the World Series. Goods obviously, but
you know you say it happened the day after the
trade and all I don't know, White Sox made it,
made a move by hiring a manager, and Juan Soto said,
I'll go wherever the hell I want, well.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
Leave the club No, no, no, that was. That was
He walked from the field of the clubhouse and said,
doors open, guys, all right, let's go.

Speaker 3 (03:44):
You saw the shot, I said it to you. And
and justin uh how he sat in the dugout during
the entire celebration. Obviously it was on their field, so
someone had to make sure they didn't tear it up
too badly. But when you look look at the look
on his face the entire time, how salty he was,
because you know, while it was still long odds to

(04:05):
come back and win the series, that fifth inning had
to have just gutted the man.

Speaker 1 (04:11):
Oh yes, he watched I am leaving. I'm leaving, I'm leaving.
I'm leaving. I'm gonna sit out here after the game
is over. And then because I know I'm i'm leaving,
I'm leaving, I'm leaving. I'm gone.

Speaker 3 (04:22):
That's true, That's true. Gledsoe and Jay Moore at the
end of.

Speaker 1 (04:25):
Jerry Maguire, they try to hug at the end.

Speaker 3 (04:30):
Why don't we have a relationship?

Speaker 1 (04:33):
So uh So the Dodgers look and now we're now
we're about look on Monday, we're gonna get headlines about players.
It's gonna it's just gonna be awesome. The baseball season
just rolls right in. Uh Now, when we get to
this weekend in the NFL, one of the biggest games
on the slate, Cowboys and the Falcons, and you always
know Jerry Jones are gonna stir the pot. And this

(04:53):
week was no different because today he went on one
O five three the fan in Dallas and he said
something that even the most staunched of Jerry Jones believers
has to walk away going did he really mean that?
Because when he was asked about the team this year
and why they're struggling, he said, yeah, you know, I
gotta say I didn't see us struggling like this, didn't

(05:14):
see that coming.

Speaker 4 (05:15):
Take a listen, go then I anticipated let's put it
like that. Okay, So there's don't they's don't a couple
that with just those two Yeah, let's but having me
in in the loop needs to be there. It is
rougher uh and I did not anticipate the challenges that

(05:36):
we're having with this team. Uh, but I uh uh
am reminded of teams that I've seen that have had
a lot of success and put themselves in a position
to take a shot, and they were three and four.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
Basically, what I'm saying is that I'll take the blame
for stuff because uh, it's my fault until I don't
want to take the blame anymore, and then at somebody
else's fault. That's what I'm telling you right now. Like
if for a second I thought Jerry Jones meant this
that he did not anticipate it's rough for the anticipated.
If I thought for a second he believed this, I

(06:13):
would say, you know what, he has lost his fastball
and now good luck because I don't know that he
can run a team anymore because he's been around the
game a while whatever you want to say he knows
about the sport or not. I mean even someone who's
who's covered the game or watch the game for a year,
they know that. Well, if you go into an offseason
and you're not the Super Bowl champions and you don't
bring in more players and get better. You're not gonna

(06:36):
suddenly just get better because the calendar turns to the
next year. It doesn't happen that way. It's not how
it goes in the world of sports. Just because you
watch the ball touchdown in Times Square and Ryan Seacrest
is happy and sailors are kissing their girlfriends and everybody's
wearing the crazy glasses, it doesn't suddenly mean well, we're
in a new calendar year, you're gonna be good. No,
we knew the Cowboys weren't gonna be good. We told

(06:57):
you the Cowboys were not going to be good because
Jerry Jones decided I'm not gonna spend any money on guys,
and then I'm gonna cave and my knees are gonna buckle,
and I'm gonna give Dak money and Ceed Lamb money,
and now we're screwed because there's less money to make
this team better. So now I don't think, but I
don't think for a second he actually believes this. I

(07:18):
think it's it's part of Hey, I want people to
know that what's going on here is not really my fault,
because he's a guy that will take responsibility until it's
too much for him. Then when it's too much responsibility,
it's not my fault. Oh it's rougher than anticipated, because
you know, we have this great team out there. No
you didn't, Jerry, you didn't. But he's still succeeding, and
he's still jerrying, which tells me he hasn't lost his fastball.

(07:41):
This is something he is putting out there to try
to motivate the Cowboys, to keep the top of mind,
and to put a headline out there. Oh it's rougher
than I anticipated. Right, That's what Jones continued to do
this year, even though the Cowboys aren't very good. Right,
whether he's firing a radio host or or talking about
what he did or didn't do, or being on in
his business, is keeping the Cowboys top of mouth, and

(08:04):
he has succeeded on that for thirty years. They're not
a championship team. They haven't won in a long ass time,
and they're not any closer now than they were the
last few years. But it doesn't matter because the Cowboys
are still the straw that stirs the drink, and he's
still jerrying, which is what he is doing. Only one
team wins a championship. So if we not winning the championship,
we gotta be somebody everybody is talking about and being

(08:25):
the top of every conversation. So that's what he's doing here. Again,
if for a second I thought he was serious about now,
I would say it is time to take the keys away,
and boy, you need to do something in Dallas, because
good luck with a guy who actually thinks the team
would be better just because they didn't improve. But this
is just his way of saying stuff to keep the
Cowboys out there, because there's no way he believes it.

Speaker 3 (08:48):
Yeah, I think just the way I interpreted him in
the disappointment of where they're at at this point in
the season may not even be by the record. I mean,
you've won thirteen three straight years regular season usually find
your way through. But I think it's the manner in
which they've lost, going back to getting blown out by

(09:11):
the Saints, who you know now are no good. The
other three teams Baltimore, Detroit and San Francisco. When we
drew up the list of who are the good teams
potentially great teams in the league, there's three of them
right off the jump. Cowboys are not on that list.
And Jerry truly believed that they were than Hey, good

(09:32):
for him to live in a land of delusion, not the
land of confusion, well, maybe a little bit of confusion,
but the land of delusion in that regard. But I
think it's more just they're getting obliterated showing how big
that gap really is.

Speaker 4 (09:46):
Right.

Speaker 3 (09:46):
It's one thing, Hey, we lose a close game, late
field goal, you know, super tow justin Tucker hits a
fifty three yard field goal, or Detroit with their their juggernaut,
you know, they make a big play, Hutchinson gets after
Prescott or something at the end of a game. All
of those things to say that you you could maybe

(10:07):
accept that a little bit more going. All right, the
margins are there right now. It's the boy, we're really
not good against teams that are that are good. Right,
We're we're the dregs right now, and nothing's working, and
the margin between us and these good teams is far
bigger than Okay, we're gonna get to the playoffs and
then there's a test. No, we're getting bludgeon now and

(10:30):
we're and we're learning it on the spot when.

Speaker 1 (10:33):
It comes to this week. And all right, so here's
Jerry Jones, who's created some interest now with this game.
This is not gonna go Dallas's way. And and there's
still a consensus of fans out there that are gonna
say they're not gonna lose to Atlanta just because because
they're the Cowboys and I can't see them struggle. They're
gonna get thumped by the Falcons on Sunday. We've talked

(10:55):
about this all in the offseason into this year. What
if the Cowboys just stink? And when the Saints won
Week two, what was the reaction, not that, oh boy
the cow it was all, look how good the Saints
must be. Remember, everybody's so all in on the Saints
after Week two? And what do we tell you that.
I'm sorry, that's why we're ahead of the curve. The
Saints stink. Okay, maybe the Cowboys stink too, because there's

(11:16):
no way the Saints are this good. This is it's
more about the Cowboys than is the Saints. And look
what happened. Fast forward a month and a half later. Yeah,
the Saints are awful and the Cowboys are still awful.
They're just bad and they're not going to improve. There's
no fixes. What we saw against San Francisco is who
they are. Their defense is hurt and it's leaky. They
can't run the football. All you gotta do is cover

(11:38):
ceed Lamb and not get in a shootout. Just keep
the Cowboys offense to where you're not going back and
forth trading scores up and down the field, and you
will beat the Cowboys. Because they are a dangerous team.
You're getting a shootout. The only reason that game was
as close as it's seen with the forty nine ers
last week is because the forty nine ers didn't stop covering.
They stopped covering CD Lamb. How are you not covering
the best receiver? What do you do with he's he's

(11:59):
the one guy. I get the backwards strategy of no,
if we leave the really good guy open, it's gonna
confuse them. Now, if you cover Ceedee Lamb, there's nobody
else that's gonna hurt you. And that's the only way
that you wind up falling victim to the Cowboys. And
that's not gonna happen this week. The Falcons are really
starting to figure it out their defense. Their offense is

(12:20):
too deep. I see big numbers across the board. They're
starting to use Bjon Robinson as the number one running
back and and and really it's about time for that.
You have really good receivers across the board. Drake London
is really good. Darnold Mooney is having big moments this year.
Maybe Kyle Pitts is even becoming a weapon. Kirk Cousins
has solidified his hold on the job. Atlanta is really

(12:43):
starting to feel it offensively. They have a lot of weapons.
This is not the get well week where the Cowboys
are gonna show up and go, hey, we're gonna walk
out of this one thirty four to nine. No, not happening.
The Falcons are gonna win. They're gonna put up a
big day and next week is gonna be Is that
it for the Cowboys? Have they done it? Three and
five over for them? That'll be your storyline on Monday.

Speaker 3 (13:02):
Yeah, a couple things out of it. The Falcons three
and a half point home favorites, fifty one and a
half is the total, So line up those fantasy starters
for this one. The emergence of B John Robinson really
to the level of touch The touch count is next level.
Kyle Pitts, yeah he should have one fewer touchdown, but
you know what they counted it. Move on complaining about it.

(13:25):
Isn't going to get your commissioner to make an exception
because he disagrees with the officiating. So on, with what
they've been able to do. Defensively, they're not great, but
they keep you in games, whereas the Cowboys you've got
problems all over. To your point, can't run. Who would
have thought Tony Pollard could have been a savior for
this squad and his as a receiver and his barely

(13:49):
he topped a thousand yards, But as we know, that's
just a testament to staying healthy than anything else. Receiving
course still has its issues, and defensively, I just don't
know how they get to stop the other part. Third
worst turnover differential in the National Football League. That's losing
football in a nutshell.

Speaker 1 (14:08):
It's it's really tough, man, It's a there's there. If
I thought there was a there was a magic pill
for the Cowboys getting better, I would say it, Uh,
did they absolutely need to trade for a running back?
Like if Jerry Jones would say, Okay, what do we
need to do because there's guys like Ramandre Stevenson who
would be available. You know, that. Look, do the Pages
really yeah, do they really want to pay these guys money?

Speaker 4 (14:30):
Right?

Speaker 1 (14:30):
Did the the the Panthers have their stud coming back
this week that they drafted. You know, he's been on
the injured list all year. He's still getting better.

Speaker 3 (14:40):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (14:40):
But like other teams like, Okay, well we signed these
guys to big contracts in the offseason, we really sure
we want to go forward with them? Right? Like, like
I said, do the Pages really want Ramondre Stevenson? Probably not?
You know, So it's it's gonna it's gonna be a way.
There's a way to get out there. But when you
see Jerry Jones saying we didn't have the money for
Derrick Henry, Like, you didn't have eight million dollars, You

(15:01):
had eight million dollars, You had eight million sure to
get that done. You had twenty five million, you were
twenty five million under the cap. How'd you not have money?
When I hear him say, oh, we have no money,
I mean that that tells me he's not gonna go
get anybody. And and boy, if they had a running back,
that at least takes some of the pressure off. And look,
Stevenson's a three down running back. Catches a lot of
passes out of the backfield. He's not helping the Patriots anywhere,

(15:24):
but he could really help somebody. I'll tell you, man,
there's things out there, but Jerry's not gonna do it. So,
I mean, if you're not gonna do that, how are
you gonna suddenly get better? You don't suddenly just gel
and find a moment and say, hey, we'll Lef Grimace
come and throw the first ball out. We're gonna be great. No,
there's not happening for the Cowboys.

Speaker 3 (15:41):
Well, who's in Laney Wilson's gonna sing at at Thanksgiving?
That'll help.

Speaker 1 (15:47):
Oh that'll be good. Okay, Yeah, that's good. So I know,
so when they're three and eight, that's suddenly.

Speaker 3 (15:54):
That was the big sideline announcement when they were getting
absolutely worked by the Lions. Hey we're on the sideline
with Lady Wilson. What do you got? You know I'm
gonna be here? Yeah? No, no, Because that's the other
thing is, at one point they actually mattered at home.
They were a teammate in front of a home crowd,

(16:14):
kicked ass and played at a different level. They're awful
in Dallas right now. Something has absolutely changed. Never mind
Jerry and the way he built that thing where the
sun becomes an itching for teams. But there's nothing I can.

Speaker 1 (16:29):
Do about that now, exit out about a Fresca. Exit
swollen down. The Jason Smith Show with My best friend
Mike Harmon. Coming up next, We'll take a look at
one of the biggest games in the college football slate
tomorrow and tell you who's gonna win the biggest game
on the NFL slate on Sunday. That's next right here,
Jason and Mike Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (16:49):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (17:00):
Fox Sports Radio. The Jason Smith Show with My best
Friend Mike Harmon liveth Tireck dot Com Studios. We'll get
to the NFL Game of the week in a second,
but one of the biggest college football games tomorrow. It's
more of a tricky game, but Oregon, number one team

(17:20):
in the country, and new Big Ten rival Michigan will
square off. And I could I could say this because
my wife is downstairs.

Speaker 3 (17:30):
Okay, go ahead, I said, fast, fast, Jerry Jones voice.

Speaker 1 (17:35):
I'd love to be able to pick the Wolves in
this one, but uh uh I'm not uh uh uh
uh no did uh no.

Speaker 4 (17:45):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (17:46):
Look, it's it's been a crazy week for Michigan, who
lost a commitment from a guy who is supposed to
come in next year and maybe be their star quarterback.
But they're back in on on the number one quarterback
recruit in the country that they think they might be
able to slip from LSU. It has been some kind
of week. And while you saw a big week from
them last week, you know, beating Michigan State, sort of

(18:09):
running the team finally, how they should have run it
from the beginning where Davis Warren is the quarterback and
Alex Orgy's kind of the gadget guy that comes in
and plays a couple series here and there for a
different look. Like that's kind of how Michigan should have
run it from the beginning, and they didn't. And had
they done that, maybe they're six and two at this point.
Maybe they only lose to Texas, right because Michigan's defense

(18:29):
is still really good. You got a couple of really
good running backs. I'm a big believer. How good Donovan
Edwards is how good he's gonna be at the next level.
He's gonna be a superstar, Like he's gonna be like
James Cook at the next level. That's how good he's
gonna be in the NFL. But I'd love to say
they can win tomorrow, but I can't see their defense
slowing Oregon down. Will Johnson, who's their best player, is
not going to play in this game. Oregon's got too

(18:52):
much offensively, and it's gonna be a game where they
kind of wear Michigan down and they'll win this by seventeen.
So while it's gonna seem like maybe the number one
team in the country is in trouble for a little while,
eventually they'll pull away because Michigan they just don't have
the horses offensively. They just can't stay with them.

Speaker 3 (19:08):
Low forty four and a half total for this one,
Jason fourteen and a half the spread Oregon on the road, Yeah,
just too much firepower. I mean, we talked about Gabriel
a bunch with the Heisman talk. Find it in the
podcast wherever you get your audio, download and give it
five stars. Evangelize send it to friends and family. Holidays
are coming give to the iHeartRadio link, putting it on

(19:30):
folks phones. Hey, let me borrow your phone for a second. Here,
I got a gift for you. What do you got,
Oh surprise, it's the iHeartRadio app and Fox Sports Radio
twenty four seven see boom crossing off gifts and all.
It takes a little bit of your time and effort
and love spreading the wealth of Fox Sports Radio. But
to that point, Dylan Gabriel and that offense, look, they

(19:52):
had one. You go back to that game a couple
of weeks ago that we will remember. They're not gonna
leave anything to chance here. And I know, big bad
Michigan still can run the football. The quarterback play is
the one that's just got the giant question mark. Might
as well have a riddler suit running around out there,
because I have no idea what I'm getting in the

(20:12):
passing game. I know with Oregon both sides of the ball,
they're coming number one with a schedule that still has
a bunch of big marks on it after this game,
Yeah they're not. They're not looking past this one. This
one's huge.

Speaker 1 (20:25):
Look and and to talk about schedule here for a second,
just let do you like how everybody's coming around to
what we said about Michigan the beginning of the season,
How is this your quarterback situation? Where it's a set
where where it's a walk on and a gadget guy
and a seventh year senior, like, how is this your quarterback?
How is this this? How is this how you follow
things up with JJ McCarthy, And now everybody's coming around

(20:47):
to it. It's like, did we were there two months
That's why we say ahead of the curve, we're there
two months ago. Michigan should not be coming in like this,
how is this? How is this your situation? Now they're
going to be desperate to try to find somebody in
the portal. But while that's happening, and like I told,
we told you that two months ago, Michigan, you can
really make this season and I mean you personally Mike

(21:07):
Carmon into a disaster for Michigan because is look five
and three right now. I think they'll take five and
three coming off winning the national championship. Okay, but you
look at the rest of their schedule and Michigan's got Oregon,
then at Indiana, who's really good undefeated this year. Then
they play Northwestern and then they're at Ohio State. They're

(21:29):
gonna lose three of those games. And if they don't
beat Northwestern, they don't beat you guys, they're not going
to a bowl game, and Michigan is going the absolute
embarrassment of national championship. Okay, maybe we're not gonna win
the national championship gap, but you might not even go
to a bowl game. You might have won your last
game something. It's gonna come down to beating Northwestern to
go to a bowl game.

Speaker 3 (21:50):
I'll say this, the coach will give the game away
at some point. I'm sorry that you're in good hand
in a couple weeks, Michigan. Don't worry about it here. Yeah,
last year they won in spite of a lot of
my numbingly bad decisions in the first year without Pat Fitzgerald.
This year, all of those chickens came home to roost

(22:13):
in a big way, and against better teams they've been
non competitive, So I expect no speed bump there. But
the rest of that schedule, y, I'll tell you, it
really is a daunting run here these next few weeks
and going back, just for those that missed the quarterback
conversation again, find the archives. It's all there laid out

(22:34):
months ago. Was you could get the negative recruiting stuff
because of all the swirling wins about what might come
down from punishment of the last vestiges of the NC
double A in the Harbor and sign stealing this, that,
the other, Sandwich Gate, Hamburger Gate and all that other stuff,
the other you know, just the negative recruiting off of that,

(22:59):
and then just the uncertainty of all right, we got
a new coach, how do we feel about this with
the expanding Big ten whatever else, to where maybe you've
got another option instead of having to come to compete.
So all of that to say, you've got to have
a plan going through, and it's pretty clear that they

(23:19):
did not address that position adequately as we sit here
at the start of November.

Speaker 1 (23:26):
So from to a different part of the state of
Michigan where things are a little bit better, Let's go
to Detroit because this is where the game of the
week is Detroit and Green Bay. And there's all kinds
of attention on this again. If in twenty twenty one
I said, hey, in three years, where the Lions play
is going to be the game of the week every week,
what are you talking about. You know what you're talking about. Well,

(23:47):
that's where we are. Before we get to the game.
A couple quick things about the Lions. They're the best
team in the NFL right now. For a couple of
weeks they've been the best team. Yes, the Chiefs have
the best record, Lions are the best team right When
we first talked about this, you sent out a note
to Todd Furman, Vegas insider who joined us every week
on the show, and he said, if we were making
the line right now on a neutral field, the Lions

(24:09):
will be favored by a point or two. That's how
that's how good they're playing. They be favored by a
point or two. The biggest question, the only thing I
have about the Lions right now is are they peaking
a little too early? Because that's they're just blowing by
everybody now. And look at the level they're playing at.
But it's November first, and eventually how many how many

(24:31):
weeks can you play at this kind of level? And
when we get to the middle of December, our team's
going to figure out a way. Okay, we've seen the
Lions do this for a while. We have the horses
defensively to try to slow them down on offense and
maybe the playoffs turn into something different, because that's my
only question for Detroit, because if they wind up finishing
the season like this and the playoffs go through Detroit,

(24:52):
they're going to the super Bowl. No one's going into
Detroit and winning a game. Again. Things I didn't think
i'd say in twenty twenty one. As good as Detroit is,
I mean at home there otherworldly and they're gonna score
forty five points and they're gonna bludgeon you because this
offense is playing at such a high level. I mean,
I don't know that anybody understands just how well they're
playing because I don't know how many people, you know,

(25:12):
watch them every week. Oh we'll see you'll see him
this week. But I watch the Lions every week, and
if they had Chiefs jerseys on, it would be This
team is absolutely the most dangerous, scariest team in the world.
I don't want to play them, but they wear Lions
jerseys and you think, oh on lulublue, eventually they're gonna
be No. No, this is a terrific team. And if
the road to the super Bowl goes through Detroit, guess

(25:34):
what they're winning a couple of games of going to
the super Bowl. It's gonna be that easy because they're
not losing at home. But that's that's my only question.
Are they peaking now and are they still gonna be
the same team we get to late December early January
because everything else they have that taken care of.

Speaker 3 (25:48):
Yeah, we stipulate to health and everything out already with
the loss of Hutchinson and trying to work through that.
A couple of days before the deadline, a lot of
rumors swirling about, you know, defensive ends, linebacks, you know, potentially.

Speaker 1 (26:01):
On the move.

Speaker 3 (26:02):
We'll see if they're a buyer when it's all said
and done. But you look at the schedule, big matchup
this week in the North against the Packers, then they
get the Texans and the Jaguars. Yeah, and then after that,
you know, even at six and three, I haven't been
a buyer in the Texans overall. I think that offensive

(26:23):
line is their doom. They're fine in division, but on
the grand scale, a step below Nico Collins coming back
isn't going to save them because they actually lost one
of their linemen for the year in that loss to
the Jets. As well, but then down the stretch, you've
got the Bears at home, you got the Packers at home,
you get the Bills at home, then on the road

(26:45):
at the Bears at forty nine, Ers Vikings at home.
A lot of home games still on the schedule, right,
they have a lot of dome opponents. All of that,
just the way it all works out. And nice weather
all around, except this week where it looks like it's
going to be any miserable with some wins. So we'll
see if that can cut through Jared Goff's eight pass

(27:05):
attempts as Montgomery and Gibbs run amock once again.

Speaker 1 (27:10):
Yeah, look, I'd love to be able to tell you
that I think, Hey, the Packers, who are a terrific
team by the way, right, Packers are fantastic. Yes, Jordan
loves status this week up in the air, but it
looks like he's trending towards playing at least that's kind
of how it's been the last few days. And obviously
you're gonna play some strategy there by making the Lions
prepare for Malik Willis as well, just in case. But

(27:30):
at this right now, at this moment in time, doesn't
matter who plays quarterback. Because the Lions are playing at
such a high level, all their weapons on offense, it
doesn't matter. It doesn't matter if Jamison Williams plays or doesn't.
Kleef Rayman will come in and have a big week.
Jamiir gives the best running back in the NFL right now,
better than Derrick Henry. He is electric, He catches balls

(27:50):
out of the backfield. He puts so much pressure on
a defense. He can take every play to the house.
He is incredibly dominant. And the offensive line is not
getting the it deserves because Jared Goff doesn't get hit.
He's able to have a clean pocket, make good decisions
and throw the ball. This offense is impossible to slow
down right now. And defensively, they have enough. They're not

(28:11):
in a league team defensively, you know, you know, but
they have enough. Their defensive back, the defensive backfield, which
was the big question coming into this year. We talked
about how they button that down. They have played a
lot better and they'll be able to slow down the
Packers enough. They'll win this game thirty to twenty four.
And it's going to be another big statement game for
the Lions. And we're talking about them next week is Hey,

(28:33):
maybe they're even better than we thought. But I really
I know it's on the road in green Bay, but
it's November first, on the road in green Bay, it's
not January sixth, and it's negative fifty degrees. We've seen
the Lions win on the road before, They've won big
games in Green Bay on the road before. They'll be
fine going into Sunday. They win this game and it's
going to be continuing on the road to the home

(28:54):
field advantage in the NFC.

Speaker 3 (28:56):
Two teams that excel at taking the ball away both
among the leaders in turnover differential, Detroit coming in tied
for second at plus ten, green Bay sitting there at
fourth at plus seven. So I mean, that's the tail
of the tape. Josh Jacob's being banged up and him
still with the giant red mark on the injury report

(29:17):
and on your fantasy rosters is concerning because you don't
have an aj Dillon. He's too busy on Twitch and
collecting baseball cards or football cards right now. But I'm
gonna take the Packers to win, to win one that
their defense is able to make one play, that one
shining moment to give a little bit of a ripple
in this Detroit masterpiece. I'm gonna go twenty seven to

(29:40):
twenty four Green Bay. Do I feel good about it? No?
Of the sixteen look of the fifteen games on the board, right,
we already put the Jets in our pocket. We said
they'd win that game. In confidence level, I would give
this one maybe a two.

Speaker 1 (29:58):
So you feel good about it? No, I don't, but
you asked me, so I gave you my But the
game of the week like this is one.

Speaker 3 (30:04):
I'm grabbing a beer and I'm gonna sit down and
I'm gonna watch it, assuming I'm not driving, you know,
ninety miles to nowhere to watch a soccer game, but otherwise, yeah,
I'm gonna sit and watch this one with great interest.
And you asked me earlier about you know, when I say, hey,
I picked the Packers and I feel terrible about it
and why and whatever. It's still a division game. It's

(30:25):
like the Packers have owned us for thirty five years. Pal,
it's to that new owner.

Speaker 1 (30:31):
Exit out about a Fresca exit Swollen down The Jason

Speaker 3 (30:53):
But no, whoa.

Speaker 5 (30:58):

late ten oh run, edged Denver one nineteen one sixteen
Anthony d where it's twenty nine points, New Orleans over Indiana.
Lakers beat Toronto. Victories for Brooklyn, Sacramento, and New York,

(33:07):
which led by twenty three at the half. At Detroit
and beat the Pistons one twenty eight to ninety eight
Detroit one and five. Jalen Brunson thirty six points in
thirty one minutes. Among the NHL games in Finland, Florida
defeated Dallas six to four. They'll play there again tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (33:22):
Back to you, Thank you, Steve O. The Jason Smith
Show with my best friend Mike Carmon live from the
tyrack dot Com Studios coming up next, Mike and I
give you our upset special picks of the week in
college football and the NFL, plus tell you why one
coaches team may lose on Sunday, but it doesn't matter
because right now he is, without a doubt, the NFL

(33:44):
Coach of the Year. Those stories are more next right here,
Jason to Mike Fox Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith
Show with my best friend Mike Harmon. We'll get to
our upset special picks coming up in a couple of minutes.
But one of the more intrigued games the NFL this weekend,
right the Broncos and the Ravens. This should be a

(34:06):
game the Ravens roll over the Broncos, and they will.
The Ravens are a little inconsistent. They'll play well for
a little while, then they'll sort of show up flat
for a game you think, all right, well, that's not
gonna happen again. Three weeks later they show up flat.
But they should win this game on Sunday, and especially
with the addition of Deontay Johnson, who's already gonna slot
in a right right away as a number three receiver,

(34:30):
that should be fine. But even though they're gonna likely lose.
There is one choice right now for NFL Coach of
the Year, and that's Sean Payton. You know, the Broncos
are not the best team in the NFL, but this
is a team that does not have a lot of
talent and somehow they are five and three. They don't
have a quarterback that you really want, they don't have

(34:50):
a running game that you want, they don't have wide
receivers that you want. Their defense is pretty good, but
it's a lot of it's about scheme, and you see
him come into games where hey, he doesn't have the
horses and they still are able to beat teams with
more talent. That's how good of a coaching job he
has done this year. There's nobody that's done a better
job because I look at how is a guy winning
with less talent, and that's Sean Payton. So for me,

(35:13):
it's Sean Payton. There's nobody else close.

Speaker 3 (35:15):
Yeah, I think when we look at the Ravens, there
is one thing about them, as you always like to say,
they have one big problem that they need to solve.
Their defense stinks. So we'll keep an eye on that.
Bo Nicks could actually have a day for Fantasy purposes.
One of those guys we talked about a lot, the
guy I would argue, but he's got to split the

(35:36):
vote with his oc is dan Quinn out there in Washington.
But he's got to give half the award and whatever
prizes to Cliff Kingsbury. So you know he might lose
because of that. So Peyton gets some of his genius
label restored for what he's doing. He advanced Joseph. Because
advanced Joseph, that defense probably deserves a little bit of

(35:59):
credit due.

Speaker 1 (35:59):
No, oh, of course it does. Course it does.

Speaker 3 (36:03):
Just want to make sure everybody gets their their name
check because we did it early for Brian Flores when
the Vikings defense was good. Make sure we're fair about
that and equitable with the credit.

Speaker 1 (36:17):
Exit out about a Fresco exit Swallen Dome, Jason Smith,
Mike Harmon live from the Tirech dot Com studios. All right,
time now to give you our upset special picks of
the week in college football the NFL. Yes, we didn't
have any last week, well because when Freddie Freeman hits
a walk off Grand Slam in Game one of the
World Series, we didn't really have time.

Speaker 3 (36:35):
But kind of it kind of goes sideways. Y, Yeah.

Speaker 1 (36:37):
It happens. It happens, So back at it this week.
I'm putting my fourteen and three record on the line.
I'm feeling the pressure. But I'll give you one game
in college, one game in the pros, and I'll kick
things off. The college game. I love is Duke getting
twenty one at Miami. Right manny Ds former ESPNBA were

(36:58):
PA's together at ESPN. He is a terrific defensive head coach.
Duke's defense is really good. It was an awful fourth
quarter in overtime in a game that set college football
back fifty years against SMU last week. But if Duke
beats SMU, Duke is in the top twenty five. They
were one play away, like three times from doing it.

(37:19):
Twenty One points is a lot. Duke's defense is good.
He's coming back to Miami where he was the head coach,
his dad was mayor there. This game is going to
mean a lot to him, and Miami can't put anyone away.
As much talent as they have. All their games are close.
Twenty one points is a ton. Give me Duke getting
twenty one against Miami.

Speaker 3 (37:38):
Look at you, I'm going well for a first SEC
home win of the year. And as you like to say,
wondering which team gets the bounce, But I'm gonna take
South Carolina ton up end top ten team Texas A
and M. They're coming off a huge win against LSU,
whereas South Carolina continued the embarrassing year that it has
been for Oklahoma blodge them a week ago. They defend

(38:02):
the home turf, getting three and a half this week
over under only forty four.

Speaker 1 (38:07):
Yeah, a lot. It's like old SEC foot That's like
the SEC from nineteen ninety four. About that to the NFL,
Now give me and I can say this because Justin
Frostburg's not here. He is traveling with the Chargers. But
I will take the Browns getting too over the Chargers.
The Browns are feeling good. They unleash their offense last week.

(38:29):
It's a new era and a new age under Jamis Winston.
We told you this was gonna happen, and it did.
They have a lot of underrated weapons there. Cedric Tillman
looks like the real deal. Elijah Moore, now you understand
why they traded a second round pick for him. He
had led the team in targets last week. Oh By
the way, Jerry Judy is a thirteen million dollar year
wide receiver. They got Nick chubbed back. This is a

(38:50):
team that can beat you a lot of ways, and
they're gonna continue to roll through right now because they
feel good about where they're at. They're gonna put points
on the board. And the Chargers still struggle to score.
Even with the lad mcconkee breakout game last week, they
still struggled to score. The Browns were a really good defense.
Give me the Browns in this one, twenty three to seventeen.

Speaker 3 (39:10):
Yeah, slug fast, right, we're talking about it. Over under
sitting at forty one and a half in that one.
And it's funny how it takes the backup quarterback to
free up those wide receivers they're acquired. Go figure, all right.
So for me, I'm looking at that had two games
on the board. First, I'm going Sunday Night Football, the
one they flexed in Joe Flacco and the Indianapolis offense.

(39:31):
Everybody's playing, everybody's in against Minnesota. One thing that we
have seen with the defense of Minnesota you can pass
down field. I'm looking for big games from downs and
Pierce once again with Jonathan Taylor back setting things up,
play action to work, and then give me the Raiders
plus seven at Cincinnati.

Speaker 1 (39:50):
Oh, come on, you're gonna end the You're gonna end
the Bengals season with the Raiders. Come on the Raiders.

Speaker 3 (39:56):
Come on, man, the autumn win facenda got screwed. A
he's not in the hall, but he's gonna win on Sunday.

Speaker 1 (40:04):
He wins a fire. It can things get any words
for the Bengals. Yes, well, actually yeah if they lose
to the rate, yes, yes, show Our best of podcasts
