Speaker 2 (00:24):
Let's get this, punnies, you're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (00:32):
It is The Odd Couple. I'm Chris, He's Rob.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
We're live from the tirereg dot com studios, and uh
tirerek dot com will help you get there. They've got
an unmatched selection, fast free shipping, free row hazard protection,
and more than ten thousand recommend it installers. Tirereg dot
com is the way tire binds should be. Carrie Kittles,
NBA veteran or former NBA veteran, played in two NBA finals,

(00:59):
will join us at the bottom of the hour. Always
good to talk with Carrie, so keep it like for that,
but we're gonna stay with the NBA.

Speaker 3 (01:08):
Of course, the playoffs are hot, and in these.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
Playoffs, Patrick Beverly guard for the Milwaukee Bucks among many
other teams.

Speaker 3 (01:19):
It was on like five teams this year or something
like that.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
But anyway, of course, last week you might remember when
they were eliminated by the Indiana Pacers, Patrick Beverly tossed
a ball into the stands and hit a woman, and
then a fan threw it back to Beverly, not in
an aggressive way, and then he fired the ball back

(01:44):
at the fan and thankfully did not hit a little girl.
I think it was a little girl who was right
near the line of fire. But anyway, for that act,
he has been fined. All right, I'm sorry, suspended for
four games, the first four games of next season.

Speaker 4 (02:05):
Rob.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
I thought it should have been at least five games.
Ten would not have upset me.

Speaker 5 (02:11):
No, because of the dammage he could have done.

Speaker 6 (02:13):
Chris like like, there's just no way you should allow
that to happen where you're throwing a ball into the stands. Now,
if a fan threw a ball at his head, Chris
from the state like a ball, a loose ball, that
guy would be thrown out and banned from ever coming
back in right or wrong.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
No, No, you'd be banned. You'd be banned for We've
seen it, yeah, yes, get banned. Absolutely, he would have
been banned.

Speaker 6 (02:42):
And I'm saying that Beverly should have been banned or
anything like that. But but this is just another reminder
Chris of Adam Silver. Adam Silver has missed, has mishandled
a number of things, has come off as way lenient
when it comes to the player. I know he's employed
by the owners, but he's a players commission.

Speaker 3 (03:04):
He's he's played.

Speaker 6 (03:05):
Though, he's you know, like that's what he is, Chris,
because they just bend them shape him anyway they want.
He always seems to be like when it comes to
discipline the players. The only time Chris he appeared to
be hardcore or like David Stern was when he got

(03:28):
rid of Donald Sterling asap. But that was because of
the players, because they had threatened not to play Chris
playoff games that would have cost the league, TV money
and all kinds of issues. And that's when he acted
and didn't look back or flinch.

Speaker 3 (03:44):
Am.

Speaker 5 (03:44):
I right, it was because of the players.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
You had mass players support, right, So it wasn't really
that controversial.

Speaker 5 (03:52):
It really wasn't.

Speaker 3 (03:53):
And to be honest, I mean, Sterling had rubbed people
the wrong way.

Speaker 5 (03:56):
For years and they had to tape Chris.

Speaker 6 (03:58):
It wasn't even like a hearsay like hearsay, they couldn't
have done anything.

Speaker 5 (04:02):
But when you hear the tape, there's nothing you could do.

Speaker 6 (04:05):
Right a league that's seventy and he's saying, what don't
bring talking about don't bring black people to the game. Absolutely,
absolutely no doubt about speaking against one of the legends,
Magic Johnson.

Speaker 3 (04:18):
But yeah, go ahead, finish it.

Speaker 5 (04:20):
Yeah, I'm just.

Speaker 6 (04:23):
It just seems like it was a little light that's all, like,
make an example Pat Bev. I know he's emotional, Chris
or whatever, but you just can't tolerate. There's certain things
that you cannot do. And I think that that was
he got lucky. What if he popped a little girl
in the face with the ball, Chris, then the league right,

(04:44):
there might be a lawsuit and all kinds of other stuff.

Speaker 5 (04:48):
There would he threw it right, He threw it hard.

Speaker 6 (04:53):
So I just thought it was it was kid gloves
again by Adam Silver, who all oftentimes whereas Mittens when
he's putting out punishment. Well, look, like I said, and
I'm gonna say this for the last time, currently he's
the worst commissioner in sports.

Speaker 3 (05:11):
Wow. Wow, Look, I would disagree with that.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
I do think he has been light on the players
he is. I agree with your description of him as
a player's commissioner, because you know, he does value having
the friendships and the relationships with the players, and in
a lot of cases tends to go, you know, light

(05:38):
on them. Beyond the Patrick Beverly one. I thought the Jamal.

Speaker 3 (05:43):
Murby situation was egregious.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
I don't know how in the world, and I get it,
and again, I'm gonna be a lot it's gonna I'm
gonna enjoy watching that game tomorrow night, Game three between
Denver and Minnesota.

Speaker 3 (06:00):
A lot more with Jamal Murray there.

Speaker 1 (06:02):
And now we actually have a really delicious storyline right
that this is the guy that many feel like.

Speaker 3 (06:09):
Should have been suspended.

Speaker 1 (06:12):
He's been their hero, you know, next to Jokic throughout
their nice run these last two years, and now he's
frustrated and flustered by the aggressive defense of the Timberwolves,
so much so that he threw a heating pad on
to the court at a referee and yet wasn't suspended.

(06:33):
Like it's a great storyline, and so I'll be more
into the game as a fan. But I don't know
how in the world he's not suspended. I think David
Stern definitely would have suspended him and Rob.

Speaker 3 (06:45):
That's the thing.

Speaker 1 (06:46):
David Stern was such a heavy handed owner. I think
David Stern was a terrific commissioner. At times he was
too heavy handed.

Speaker 5 (06:55):
I agree with that.

Speaker 6 (06:55):
Doubts David Stern on some of the things that he did.
I thought it was oh yeah.

Speaker 1 (07:00):
Sometimes he went too far, but overall, I thought he
was fantastic overseeing the growth of the league the way
he did in the league that had a lot of
image problems when he took over. And so Adam Silver
is a much different type of owner than him, and

(07:21):
make commissioner, I'm sorry, commissioner than David Stern.

Speaker 3 (07:25):
Chris.

Speaker 6 (07:26):
This is why I say he's the worst is when
you coddle the players, which I believe he's done. They
have taken advantage of him with the load management, like
the embarrassment.

Speaker 3 (07:39):
Did put the sixty five games in it?

Speaker 5 (07:41):
Yeah, but it still didn't help. I mean like it
did help.

Speaker 3 (07:45):
It was better. Look, I mean, it ain't where it
needs to be, but it was better. I mean.

Speaker 6 (07:53):
I think go ahead, Yeah, I just think Draymond Green, Chris,
there's just a lot of issues that happened in the
league where I don't think I think they've taken advantage
of of of Silver and the load management, as I
pointed out, even the embarrassment of the All Star Game

(08:15):
where he went and sent in former legends to say, hey,
can you can everybody's gonna be can you can you
d up a little bit? Can you play a little
defense or whatever? And and what happened. They scored two
hundred and eleven points. Like it was like a slap
in the face. I'm just saying, like everything he tried,
and he even tried to talk it up that this
is gonna be a little more competitive than we have

(08:36):
seen in the past, Chris, it was exact opposite.

Speaker 1 (08:39):
But I see I think he I think the worst
commissioner in sports is Rob Manfred. I mean, I look,
I guess you can argue for Adam Silver, but I
mean Rob manfree Adam Silver didn't call their coveted trophy
a piece of metal.

Speaker 3 (08:57):
I mean that was a mistake. That was, yeah, it was, yeah,
it was.

Speaker 1 (09:02):
I also think that you know, you know, Rob, I've
been saying this from day one.

Speaker 3 (09:10):
You talk about being soft.

Speaker 1 (09:12):
You should have vacated that championship for the Houston Astro.

Speaker 3 (09:19):
I don't care that type of cheating.

Speaker 1 (09:22):
You have heard you talk about hurting the integrity of
the game, and you basically get, in my view, slaps
on the wrist.

Speaker 3 (09:29):
Come on, nah, I mean know that that was terrible
to me.

Speaker 1 (09:34):
So I I think he you know, there's also been
talking about juice balls under his watch. Now he I'm
not going I'm gonna be fair. I think he made
some good changes, you know, to the rules this year year,
pitch clock, you know, the big To me, I don't
know about the bigger basis.

Speaker 3 (09:54):
I don't know that. I don't think you had to
go bigger bases necessarily.

Speaker 1 (09:58):
But overall, I think he made made some good, you know,
good decisions with that. But I think Adam Silver's made
some good decisions too. I think the nd season tournament
was fine. I don't want to make too big of
a deal out of it, but I thought it was fine.
I thought the sixty five game rule, yes, you need
to come down harder it. Really, he needs to come
down on his teams because, again I've said before, a

(10:21):
lot of this is the teams. They're trainers, not just
the players that want us wanting to sit out. But
also Rob, I think the Playing Tournament was huge, a
huge success.

Speaker 3 (10:34):
Like I mean Lebron, we talk about, Okay.

Speaker 1 (10:37):
Lebron's out of the tournament now steps out, you know,
out of the playoffs now, they would have been gone
long before, perhaps.

Speaker 3 (10:45):
Without this nd season tournament.

Speaker 1 (10:47):
Miami, which got to the finals last year, was in
the end season the Playing Tournament.

Speaker 3 (10:52):
I'm sorry, and so I think that was a good
move by Silver.

Speaker 1 (10:56):
Definitely has made some mistakes, but I would say Manfred
has been the worst commissioner.

Speaker 3 (11:04):
Is the worst commissioner current day over Silver.

Speaker 6 (11:08):
Yeah, and Silver had to bribe the players almost to
play hard and all that. I just I just think
that they the nd season tournament with money like they
got it, like you gotta play hard. Here's some extra
money that my god, can you play this tournament? What
do you need to play? Pay extra money for guys
making eighteen million dollars ain't much. Yeah, I don't know

(11:31):
that I describe it as a bribe. It's just trying
to give you something for the tournament. But I guess
my biggest point is I just think that he's coddled
them and they haven't reciprocated Chris that they haven't done
right by him or tried to make him look good
even though he's a player's commissioner. If anything has been

(11:52):
the opposite is that they've taken advantage of him, and
every time he gives them an inch, they take a foot.

Speaker 5 (11:58):
That's why I said, well.

Speaker 1 (11:59):
Beyond it all Star game, which probably happens whoever the
commissioner is. I mean, it's just the nature of you know,
the shooting so many three pointers. Now again, I think
Stern would have come down on that, and who knows if.

Speaker 3 (12:14):
That would have helped.

Speaker 1 (12:15):
But outside of that, where do you say they're taking
advantage of.

Speaker 5 (12:18):
The load management? Chris? Chris, the load management is started
under Stern.

Speaker 6 (12:24):
No, no, no, but I'm but it went He kept
doing okay, but it went haywire here where all these
big players, and we talked about on the show how
many big nights we wanted to watch games and those
guys weren't playing like he did a dissurp. He allowed
that stuff to go on and they and he should
have clamped down on the teams and say no, you

(12:44):
can't keep doing this to our broadcast partners and to
our fans and to our fans, Chris like, people are
paying four hundred dollars to go to a game and
guys aren't playing and not hurt, they're just taking a
night off.

Speaker 5 (12:57):
That's not fair.

Speaker 1 (12:59):
Now, I think to now, I think this that fans,
then he actually should come down on that.

Speaker 5 (13:03):
And and that's under his watch.

Speaker 6 (13:05):
When I think of his his tenures commissioner, I don't
think of the nd season tournament. I think of load
management going a mock, going wild, low load management going wild,
running a monk. That's what I think of with Adam Silvestra.
That's right, Bam boo bo fans have been bamboozled.

Speaker 5 (13:24):
Hoodwink all right.

Speaker 3 (13:26):
Eight seven seven ninety nine.

Speaker 1 (13:28):
On Fox, Rob Parker says, Adam Silver, this this four
game suspension for Patrick Beverly, you could throw in the
situation with Jamal Murray, no suspension. Rob says, as evidence
of Adam Silver being the worst commissioner in sports. I
say Silver's been soft, no doubt. But I say, Rob

(13:50):
Manfred MLB is the worst commissioner in sports.

Speaker 3 (13:53):
What say you?

Speaker 1 (13:54):
Eight seven seven ninety nine On Fox, It's the akable
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (13:58):
Be sure to catch live editions of the Odd Couple
with Chris Brussard and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 5 (14:10):
Hey, I'm Doug Gottlieb.

Speaker 7 (14:12):
The podcast is called All Ball. We usually talk all
basketball all the time, but it's more about the stories
about what made these people love their sport and all
the interesting interactions along the way.

Speaker 5 (14:24):
We talked to coaches, we talked to players. We tell
you stories. You download it, you listen to it.

Speaker 7 (14:30):
I think you like it. Listen to All Ball with
Doug Gottlieb on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever
you get your podcasts.

Speaker 3 (14:40):
All right, it's the Couple.

Speaker 1 (14:41):
Chris Brusar, Rob Parker live from the tire rack dot
Com studios.

Speaker 3 (14:48):
We're debating commissioners.

Speaker 1 (14:50):
Rob says, Patrick Beverley getting four games for throwing the
ball at a fan. Jamal Murray, You didn't add now
add in for you, Rob, Yes, Jamal Murray not getting
suspended for a game for throwing a heating pad onto
the court during play. Our evidence of Adam Silver being

(15:12):
the worst commissioner in sports.

Speaker 3 (15:13):
I say he's been soft. But Rob manfre it is worst.
What are your thoughts?

Speaker 6 (15:18):
All right, let's kick it off with Scott in North Carolina.
You're in the couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Scott?

Speaker 8 (15:27):
I'm doing good man, how y'all doing? Thanks for having
me on?

Speaker 3 (15:29):
Yes, Sir Boddy, thank you.

Speaker 8 (15:32):
Yeah. I kind of agree with Rob here. I mean,
I'm not too familiar with Baseball commissioner, but from the
low management and the job Morant situation and things like that,
and the hipocrisy on this, you know, Pat viv and
Jamal Murray thing, I gotta agree, man's like and team

(15:53):
with players sports in their way out of the teams once
they signed a contract. It's kind of crazy with the
NBA has up comes.

Speaker 3 (16:01):
All right, all right, appreciate that. Scott.

Speaker 5 (16:03):
Thank you in North Carolina.

Speaker 3 (16:06):
Let's go to.

Speaker 6 (16:08):
Elvis in Alabama. You're in the odd couple of Fox
Sports Radio. What's up, Elvis?

Speaker 8 (16:13):
What's going on?

Speaker 9 (16:14):
Gentlemen?

Speaker 4 (16:14):
And joining the show?

Speaker 3 (16:15):
Thank you?

Speaker 5 (16:16):
Three cise man, three hours now. I just I got
one question for you, Elvis.

Speaker 3 (16:21):
This is it?

Speaker 6 (16:23):
How did they bring luggage and clothes on a three
hour tour? Like churs, they had clothes and changes.

Speaker 3 (16:30):
A three hour tour.

Speaker 1 (16:33):
Had a different outfit every day.

Speaker 4 (16:36):
That's the only question you got. How did the man
build a radio out of a coconut?

Speaker 5 (16:41):
Exactly, that's right.

Speaker 4 (16:44):
That's the only radio out of a coconut. But you
can't you can't patch a hole in.

Speaker 6 (16:49):
The bus, right, that's a good.

Speaker 1 (16:54):
In fairness, Gilligan water, same thing every every day, that's right.

Speaker 4 (16:58):
That's true to the commissioners.

Speaker 1 (17:00):
Man.

Speaker 4 (17:01):
Look, my deal is this all three of the Big three,
they all got warts, man, And it all comes down
to money. And it's and it's because of who they
serve and who they serve. It is not me and you,
that's for damn sure.

Speaker 3 (17:15):
Okay.

Speaker 4 (17:16):
And maybe it's because I in the South and hockey's
not a big deal and I'm not a huge hockey
man speak out hockey news, but I hear the least
negative stuff about Gary Bettmans and I know they flew
him mercilessly and stuff. But to me, I mean, I
don't know exactly what he's doing wrong.

Speaker 9 (17:32):
I don't ever hear.

Speaker 6 (17:32):
You know what's funny is that they they hated him
for a long time, Chris because he came from the Yes,
because he came from the NBA. He used to be
David Stern's right hand man, and they've just felt like
there wasn't he didn't have a hockey background to be
the commissioner, and that's why they've had a hard time
with him.

Speaker 4 (17:50):
A lot of people praise Goodell, but man, I'm just like, dude,
is how many billions will be enough? He is just
trying to ring week dollar he can out of the universe.
But it's fine, every revenue extream possible. It's just I mean,
is it's sickening.

Speaker 6 (18:07):
Really, Hey, I have no doubt about it, but I
hear you were wanting to play eighteen regular season games
and forget about the players, like that's the bad stuff
about him?

Speaker 1 (18:18):
A I mean, now you're playing Christmas Day, you play Saturday,
then Wednesday. During the season, you play Sunday then Thursday.
I mean, and that's I.

Speaker 3 (18:28):
Agree that that stuff it is. It's ridiculous.

Speaker 6 (18:32):
Christian in Montana, you're on the odd couple of Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (18:35):
What's up, Christian?

Speaker 10 (18:36):
How's it going?

Speaker 11 (18:37):
Guys time fans?

Speaker 5 (18:38):
Thank you, buddy, We appreciate you.

Speaker 11 (18:41):
Hey, uh answer the question. Yeah, I think I gotta
go with Manfred as well, just because I don't he
doesn't do a lot and then Silver is it not
coming from a place where I'm happy with what Silver's doing.
But I think he's definitely gonna float under the uh
Anti Stern like bubble. For a little while people hated

(19:02):
Stern so much.

Speaker 8 (19:03):
I think he's going to get a pass.

Speaker 1 (19:05):
No, he's the opposite of Stern. So you're right, And
I think a lot of players like that. And because
Stern wasn't beloved by players, but Rob he he just
kept building up the league.

Speaker 3 (19:17):
Right.

Speaker 11 (19:21):
Yeah, I think Cadell, I think he gets by. He
like him, hate him. He makes it like the previous color.
He makes a ton of money for the owners and
so like he kind of can do no wrong if
you're deciding that success very successful if it's about money.

Speaker 6 (19:39):
But it ain't just about money exactly, know. I mean
anybody could be in that job, Chris, and they would
be money and that those are just facts. I don't
care who the commissioner is.

Speaker 3 (19:49):
Absolutely with fantasy sports.

Speaker 5 (19:52):
Gambling now and especially in gambling.

Speaker 6 (19:55):
Part that's when football took a turn, is when they
had the fantasy leagues for that they took Monday night
Football off. You remember it used to be on ABC.
If the ratings weren't that great, and all that fantasy
came around and it changed every With not King.

Speaker 3 (20:10):
People gave probably a lot of younger people, Robbed.

Speaker 5 (20:12):
I don't remember the.

Speaker 3 (20:13):
End of that. NFL was not King by a long shot.

Speaker 1 (20:18):
Uh. And you're right the game to turn around and Robbed,
I think a better commissioner in the NFL would.

Speaker 3 (20:23):
Not be pushing eighteen. No, I think you'd still be playing.

Speaker 6 (20:28):
But they want, they wanted because they can't get any
money for the preseason games, Chris. But they get network
money for real games. And that's all it comes down to.
Tim Chili, Tim in Atlanta. You're on the couple of
Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Tim?

Speaker 10 (20:43):
What's up?

Speaker 2 (20:45):
Man?

Speaker 3 (20:45):
How you doing?

Speaker 10 (20:46):
Oh? I'm doing better, Rob. I tell you when the
Red Shots came to town, we were gonna get a
couple of wins.

Speaker 5 (20:51):
I bet. And I'll tell you one thing.

Speaker 6 (20:52):
I put this on my podcast, which you should subscribe to,
Inside the Parker, But I talked about Chris Sale. Chris
who has bounced back in a big way. Uh. He
shut out the Red Sox, but he's five and one
this year.

Speaker 10 (21:06):
He looked good last night. I was there. But I
have two questions for you guys. You can answer the
one to get. I wonder if Rob Manford, with Betty
the way it is now, would he handled that situation differently? Uh,
you know with sports betting being the way it is,
not protecting taking the game. And the second question I

(21:28):
had question is, uh, is David Stern like you know,
with a lot of a lot of players coming in
with dressing and sweatshuits and you know, it looked like
you know, in the corporate sponsors and people coming to
the games, get didn't feel too comfortable. Whereas now with
we are more of inclusive society, Uh, things are more liberal,

(21:49):
people are more open and like maybe al Adam Silver
is cateringto that crowd where Adam Silver did the corporate crowd.
So just two questions I wanted what do you guys say.

Speaker 3 (21:59):
So you mean it's society kind of being more lenient.
Is that?

Speaker 9 (22:04):
I mean?

Speaker 11 (22:05):
Right?

Speaker 3 (22:05):
Right, there's no truth today, they say, right, everybody has.

Speaker 1 (22:09):
Their own truth. Maybe Jamal Murray's truth was that, Hey,
my truth is I should.

Speaker 3 (22:14):
Be able to throw this onto the court. That's my truth.

Speaker 10 (22:18):
That's what I'm getting at, right then?

Speaker 1 (22:19):
Yeah, I mean I hope not I do feel kind
of like sports is one of the few bastions left,
not the only one, but one of a few left
where some of the old school values still rain. I mean,
you can yell at somebody, you can demand, you know,
things of somebody. You know, you can work them a

(22:40):
little harder than they may want to work. But hey,
who knows. If that's the case, you might be onto something. Chili, Tim, all.

Speaker 3 (22:48):
Right, we got carry Kittles around the corner.

Speaker 2 (22:50):
But first, Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk
lineup in the nation. Catch all of our shows at
Foxsports Radio dot com and within the iHeartRadio apps fs
R to listen live.

Speaker 1 (23:02):
He's a former NBA veteran, been to two NBA finals,
played with Jason Kidd. Fox Sports Radio NBA analysts our man,
Carrie Kittles.

Speaker 3 (23:13):
What's up, brother baby?

Speaker 8 (23:14):
What's going on?

Speaker 9 (23:16):
You great to be here, Carrie.

Speaker 1 (23:20):
Let's start here, and look, I hate to beat a
dead horse.

Speaker 3 (23:24):
I think we'll cover some new ground with you though.
But you really.

Speaker 1 (23:30):
Kind of brought to Robin My's attention about the stress
and strain that is putting on the players because of
the new style of play, the pacing space and stretching
the floor so much, and you know, defenders having a
guard so much more space than they.

Speaker 3 (23:47):
Used to when you played.

Speaker 1 (23:49):
And we the injuries. It's almost every single team as
a key player out carried. I want to absolutely I
want to ask you do you think this is related
to the way they play, the style of play to
pace the space.

Speaker 3 (24:05):
Number one and number two?

Speaker 1 (24:07):
If you could talk to Adam Silver or whoever about it,
what would your suggestion be to try to keep guys healthier.

Speaker 9 (24:16):
Yeah? God, this is a great topic. I'm happy to
speak about this. I've been talking about this on You
Guys show now for the last few years, and it's
just mind blowing that we look at this modern game
and the scoring and the spacing, and I've been i
haven't been yelling, but I've been bringing it to everyone's
attention that our bodies aren't professional basketball players and that

(24:38):
hardwood is not meant to be doing that much running
and jumping and torque on a nightly basis, three or
four nights a week. These guys don't even have the
energy to practice anymore. They go in, they do light workouts,
they get their shooting in, some skill working, and they
go home. It goes to show you that, you know,
when you change the game to the game is now

(25:00):
you've spread the floor and now you're having all these
key players out across the board. What are we looking at.
We're looking at role players happen and now step up
into these roles and do what they're not supposed to
be able to do. And it's just it's frustrating for
me as a former player to watch this. So, yes,
the question what if Adam Silver need to do? I
don't have the answers. Figure out a way of freaking

(25:24):
the court. Perhaps, I know you don't want to see
back to the basket post ups anymore, but the threes
and the driving kicks is just not getting it done.

Speaker 1 (25:34):
You know that is I mean, I think a natural
answer would be, which they'll never go to, would be
to cut the season of like fifty games, and you know,
so we know they won't do that. I think carry
I've said, cut out the corner three. You cut off
the arc at you know, at where it becomes an arc,

(25:56):
cut it off from there, and now that necessitates more
mid range play and some post play. It wouldn't take
away the three pointer, but it would bring more balance
to the game, and guys wouldn't have to cover quite
as much space as they are now.

Speaker 9 (26:11):
Isn't Isn't this why we have the Gleague to experiment
with the Yeah, good point, to find out exactly where
the three front line is supposed to be to increase
the value of the two. I mean they do this
all the time in baseball, the experiment with the rules
and then figure out, Okay, what's the best tweaks that
we should be making at the major league level, at
the NBA level to make our game better. Instead, we're

(26:34):
gonna sit here and watch these playoffs for all these
teams with key guys out on the sidelines in the
locker room just watching the game. It's frustrating.

Speaker 6 (26:42):
Yeah, let's let's turn here, Carrie to the Frank Vogel.
I'm not the guy won a championship. I'm not saying
he's the greatest coach you ever coached. He's not the
worst coach you ever coached. But how is that his
fault on what happened with Phoenix? I just he just
signed a five year contract. You got four years left
and they already jettison this guy out.

Speaker 9 (27:06):
Yeah, so they the teams have the money now to
go out and spend crazy amount of money for coaches,
and they're firing them left and right and trying to
move on because they're searching guys. I mean, look, you
have these key marquee. There's a big three in Phoenix
and they're underachieved. And I mean if you look at

(27:26):
that well Brattonville and they performed in constantly and there
and there, and these guys are just searching for answers,
and so of course Frank Voge is the fall guy.
I mean, it's it's it's unfortunately. Listen, they get paid
a lot of money to get the job done, figure
out a way of making adjustments. How do you get
swept with those three guys all in the lineup. I

(27:46):
don't I don't know how that happened. And so I
mean we're singing across the board now, Carrie.

Speaker 1 (27:52):
Minnesota in Oklahoma City too, and they're young teams. I mean,
Minnesota is not that young, but their best player obviously
is young Anthony Wards, and their their defense and energy
have really been factors in their series. Let's let's think
I guess more so toa Minnesota because they've played at
least two games versus Okac was just played one against Dallas.

(28:14):
But why do you think they are in control of
this series with Denver?

Speaker 3 (28:19):
And do you think they would go ahead and win
this series?

Speaker 10 (28:24):
Yeah?

Speaker 9 (28:24):
I think so. I think the matchup problem that that
Denver is seeing. I mean the length that Minnesota has
on the perimeter. And and listen, the guys a hell.

Speaker 4 (28:36):
Of a coach.

Speaker 9 (28:37):
Deficially, I watched them. I watched them play when they
came in to New York against the Nets, and I
was really impressed with his scheme and how they were
able to take certain guys out of the game. So,
I mean, look, they're they're taking away Jamal Murray's mid
range with Lent, and they're being very physical with Jokis
around the basket. They're making him earn every single thing.

(28:57):
And so I mean they're young. That Anthony Upwards is
buying in and like like he's always done so far.
I mean, as a young player, you see him rising
on both ends of the floor giving his all, and
the rest of the guys that's just all on board.
So they're gonna be a tough I don't think Denver
gets past them. They're having to win now four out

(29:18):
of five.

Speaker 1 (29:20):
Right, team, and and and what three of them are
in in Minnesota exactly?

Speaker 6 (29:26):
And then and the the sun drew up to nothing
in the finals. Did they win a game after that?

Speaker 5 (29:31):
I'm just asking Gary.

Speaker 3 (29:33):
They weren't the two wins.

Speaker 5 (29:34):
It doesn't it doesn't matter if you would have just mattered.

Speaker 6 (29:37):
No, but if you told me when when the sun
drew up too okay, you thought that they were gonna
lose four straight.

Speaker 4 (29:44):
Man?

Speaker 7 (29:45):
What?

Speaker 9 (29:46):
Yeah? Yeah, because you have to watch, you have to
see what you're looking.

Speaker 5 (29:49):
No, I'm not, I'm not. I'm not saying that they
haven't dominated them.

Speaker 6 (29:52):
Don't get me. I'm just saying I think nobody's saying this.
Absolutely it's over. You can win one game and it
can turn and could turn series. You know, let me
ask you this.

Speaker 1 (30:01):
Carry We're watching Boston, which is everybody's favorite in the East,
and a lot of people have them favorite to win
the whole thing. I don't I think they'll win the East.
I don't think they'll win it all. We'll see who
comes out of the West. But right now they're behind
at home in game two to Cleveland. Boston. Look, when

(30:24):
they're great, they're great, but they have some games that
bother me. How are you concerned at all about Boston
and maybe not them getting out of the East, but
then winning the whole thing.

Speaker 9 (30:37):
Oh yeah, I definitely have concern about Boston. I mean,
they they've they have veteran guys on the team that
know what they're doing. But I mean we've seen them
just kind of played like a daisical at times and
just they played down at their competition. And without Porzingius's
body and length out there and what's and what he brings,

(30:58):
they're a different team. There's no some about They're a
different team. They're beatable even in the East.

Speaker 1 (31:02):
Chris, So you would you favor them or do you
favor maybe the Knicks in the East?

Speaker 9 (31:10):
If the Knicks were healthy, I was still I mean,
I'm still gonna favor Boston in the East, but.

Speaker 4 (31:14):
Not for a lot.

Speaker 9 (31:15):
I think the Cleveland series is gonna go six or seven.
I think the Eastern Conference finals will also do the
same six or seven games. Boston doesn't scare anybody.

Speaker 4 (31:24):
They have.

Speaker 9 (31:25):
You know, listen, Jason Tatum and Dyalen Brown still have
yet to prove to me that they're that they're capable
of doing it and getting it done. That's just not
those to me, they still have to find the right
chemistry and they're lacking the effort consistently. And we see
these lows in their games time and time again, playing

(31:46):
down in their composition. So no, coming out the East
will definitely be a challenge for them, and I don't
see them winning at all. Minnesota, to me, defensively is incredible.

Speaker 5 (31:58):
So you're picking them to win the championship?

Speaker 3 (32:01):
Yeah, okay, I am.

Speaker 5 (32:04):
I love that. You know what.

Speaker 6 (32:05):
I love to carry that you didn't say, don't be
surprised if Minnesota wins the championship.

Speaker 3 (32:09):
You just said that you think they can.

Speaker 9 (32:12):
I agree, don't be surprised.

Speaker 1 (32:15):
Carry quickly, let me and maybe thirty seconds to a minute.
Charles Barkley said, and I think he was a prisoner
of the moment, but he said that this Timberwolves team
was one of the best defensive teams ever. I think
they look phenomenal defensively. I'm not necessarily ready to go
that far. How do you compare them? You played in

(32:37):
an era when the defense was spectacular in the NBA.
Come to compare them, This Timberwolves defense to you know
what you faced in your era.

Speaker 9 (32:49):
Very very similar to nineties basketball. On that end of
the floor, you're talking about an entire roster guy that
get in and get next first. That's what Charles Barkner
is pointing out. He's saying that, you look at the
defensive player in the year okay five. We know he
challenged the shots around the basket and what he does
are on the deep paint, But look at the perimeter.

(33:12):
Look at how they chal shot, look at how they
close out on the fee front line, look at how
they contain to dribble. There's not many blow buys out there.
They take they bring the energy to the offensive scores
and say yeah, we know you can score, but we're
gonna make it really hard for you. And he's what
Toars is doing is getting ahead of Kirby. Case Minnesota

(33:32):
wins it all, he can say, yeah, look at that told.

Speaker 3 (33:34):
R Yes, that's our man, carry Kittles. Great stuff. Brother,
Thank you, appreciate you.

Speaker 9 (33:41):
I think you got appreciate it.

Speaker 3 (33:43):
Yep, morocouple, coming you away, keep it lying. Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (33:58):
That's not the origin.

Speaker 6 (33:59):
That's that's it is to the east Side. We finally
got up here. It goes Chris finished, don't fry and
the kitchen.

Speaker 3 (34:12):
That's the one from the show, picking a.

Speaker 5 (34:16):
Whole lot of trying. I just to get up that hill.
Now we're up in the big league. Does not turn
that bat?

Speaker 3 (34:30):
All right?

Speaker 6 (34:31):
A TV theme song Thursday? My man, think that's the
one from the show. Yes, it is Chris, it is
Janey Dubois. Yeah, why do you don't think it sounds
the same, cause.

Speaker 3 (34:42):
You know we've heard different versions.

Speaker 5 (34:45):
Well, this one sounds right to me.

Speaker 3 (34:47):
I think that's it. See if there's another one, but
you will see. But whatever, we're lying from the tie
right down.

Speaker 5 (34:53):
That's one of our favorites though, right there.

Speaker 1 (34:57):
Rob the Knicks up to oh on the pacer and
look the Knicks, I mean, I just want to get
them praise because they play their hearts out there. I mean,
Julius Randall hurt, Mitchell Robinson hurt.

Speaker 3 (35:15):
Now Ogiann Nobi's hurt.

Speaker 1 (35:18):
Last night, Jalen Brunson plays hurt the entire second half.
They're mentally tougher and physically tougher than a lot of
these teams out here, and that's why they're having success.

Speaker 3 (35:31):
But they have gotten some calls.

Speaker 9 (35:33):
Rob.

Speaker 3 (35:34):
I mean, any any fan, any Knicks fan that.

Speaker 1 (35:39):
Acts like they haven't benefited from a a friendly whistle.
To put it lightly, you're just fooling yourself. You're just
lying to yourself.

Speaker 4 (35:50):
Because.

Speaker 5 (35:53):
That would be going crazy. Correct.

Speaker 1 (35:55):
I don't know if they've gotten less, you know, foul
calls or more free throws or whatever.

Speaker 3 (36:01):
But I'm robbed.

Speaker 1 (36:03):
In big moments, there have been none calls or fake
fake wrong calls, or no casts or or bad calls
on the opponent of the Knicks. It was Philadelphian Game two,
and then in that series and then games one and two,

(36:23):
you've had some things go against the Pacers. And Rick
Carlisle sounded off the coach of the Pacers yesterday, Rob,
after they lost, and I think, look, I'm fine with
Rick sounding off there. Also, they sent in a take
to the league, Rob with seventy eight calls or non

(36:45):
calls that they have an issue with in the two games.

Speaker 3 (36:51):
Ten or six.

Speaker 6 (36:53):
They could he or could they just send both videos
of both games and said, can you just watch these games?
I mean in the eight Chris, that is that the
whole game, that's the whole boat.

Speaker 3 (37:04):
That's two games, right, that's a lot.

Speaker 1 (37:08):
But I look, I'm fine ride with Rick because I
do think there's been some bad calls, but I don't
put the whole notion about the but and I think
he's trying to plan the seed for Game three, but
he went wrong when he brought in small markets.

Speaker 6 (37:29):
Hafter, I agree, Chris. I just is Denver small market?
Did they win a championship last year? Okay, Denver one?
Let me see Milwaukee, Milwaukee. I think the market won
it a few years ago, that's right, Chris. Did the
KC is alive? Minnesota is alive? Did the Pistons beat
the Lakers? The Shaq and Kobe Lakers?

Speaker 3 (37:51):
Yep?

Speaker 5 (37:52):
I would say that's a mid size market, right, and
not a big market.

Speaker 3 (37:55):
Yep.

Speaker 6 (37:56):
I just think that when you go there and there's
some conspiracy seeing everybody in New York is sitting there
in the league office saying we don't want them to win.
I just I haven't seen that because too many smaller markers.

Speaker 5 (38:08):
Just last year, Denver won just last year.

Speaker 1 (38:12):
I say all the time, if the league wanted to
make the Knicks good, they wouldn't have stuck for the
past two decades.

Speaker 5 (38:21):
Chris, twenty five years? Stop it?

Speaker 6 (38:24):
Why where where the call? The league couldn't help them.
The league couldn't help them get the number one pick
or top players.

Speaker 5 (38:31):
They couldn't help them.

Speaker 3 (38:32):
Mix since Patrick, That's.

Speaker 5 (38:34):
What I'm saying. If they this wasn't.

Speaker 6 (38:35):
Gonna easily rigged a lot, If this was a conspiracy,
Oh we gotta get them, They're gonna get the Knicks
have a good team.

Speaker 3 (38:41):
Len rm Lebron.

Speaker 5 (38:42):
It could have happened.

Speaker 3 (38:43):
Get them yell. Remember y'all was I thought?

Speaker 5 (38:46):
Yeall right?

Speaker 3 (38:47):
I mean, it's just that's what I tell people all
the time.

Speaker 1 (38:50):
It would have been simple for the league to make
sure the Knicks got one of these big time the
one picks. That's all they had to do, and they
have it, and so to me, that settles it.

Speaker 3 (39:01):
I mean, really, it's that simple.

Speaker 1 (39:04):
And the Knicks haven't been a factor rab for the
better part of twenty five years.

Speaker 6 (39:08):
Twenty five years they're talking about, oh, you got to
give the small markets a chance.

Speaker 1 (39:12):
Well, I just I don't think right. He took attention
away from his main issue, which is missed calls and
some bad calls. Right, all right, moro cuple. We got
an hour left. Y'all know what to do.

Speaker 3 (39:25):
Lock it.
