Speaker 2 (00:25):
This you're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (00:32):
For now.
Speaker 1 (00:33):
Former NFL offensive lineman Fox Sports Radio Weekend host Our
Man E from salam E from what Up?
Speaker 3 (00:42):
Brother?
Speaker 4 (00:42):
What's happening to? Brothers?
Speaker 3 (00:44):
Weird good mans?
Speaker 1 (00:45):
So let me ask you about Brandon Ayuk. We know
he's requested a trade the Niners. The reports are that
teams are are calling them and right now they're like, look,
we got no intention of trade him.
Speaker 3 (00:58):
He's under contract for other year.
Speaker 1 (01:01):
They have potentially two franchise tags on him or they
can put on him. So do you The only way
this really becomes a thing, in my opinion, is if
you really wants to risk sitting out the whole year.
Do you think that that is even as a legitimate
(01:22):
possibility him doing that?
Speaker 4 (01:24):
No? And the reason I say that is because it's
just tag it. What is it? He's making? What this year.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
I think fourteen.
Speaker 4 (01:34):
Fourteen point one million this year, and then they can
tag him if he sits out the whole year. He's
not making fourteen points one million, right, He's going to
be fined every single day until I believe what is
a week seven, week eight, and then if he doesn't
(01:55):
show up, then that's that's a wrap for that. Oh year,
you're done. Fourteen million is no old fourteen gone in
the year doesn't count, right.
Speaker 3 (02:03):
He's not even a closer to free agency.
Speaker 4 (02:05):
Right, there's no absolutely, not even closer. He just puts
himself right back in the same situation. And so it
may sound good and threatening now, but the reality of
the matter is once training camp starts and if you
even if when you hold out during training camp, it
now costs you money. Right now, it's not costing you anything.
(02:29):
Maybe they'll waive the missing the mini camp or whatever
that is. But if you start missing training camp, preseason
games and then into the season, now it costs you money.
So that fourteen million dollars you're looking at and turning
your head up at, and I get it. It's all
about negotiating and leverage. He doesn't have a lot of leverage, right, now.
(02:50):
So I wouldn't advise him as an agent or who
are a manager, whoever he's listening to, to sit out
half a year or an entire year, because it never
goes as well as you see it. On the other side,
act Le'Veon Bell, he was never the same, ruined his career,
ruined his whole career. And so increasing one's value on
(03:14):
a team that's destined in the favorite to go back
to the super Bowl, that's the best thing you can do.
You may not be happy with the fourteen million you're
gonna make, but to increase your value, this is the
best thing you can do as a player.
Speaker 1 (03:30):
Let me ask you this E from quick Cut. I'm
with you completely, and I'm like, look, I've said, I
actually said that the best thing for him to do
is go out and ball. If he wants somebody to
pay him that much money in the future, how difficult
is it? Look, fourteen million dollars is nothing to sneeze at,
(03:52):
but how difficult is it for a player when yes,
you're making great money compared to most Americans, but you're
looking at other guys at your position that you feel
you're either better than or as good as, and they're
making twice as much as you. How tough is it
for a player to suck it up and not only
(04:14):
return to play, but actually not have an attitude problem,
not be a problem in the locker room with the coaches, whatever,
and play good football and contribute to the team being
the best it can.
Speaker 4 (04:27):
Well, now, this is a perfect situation because he's on
the right team for him to realize this. First of all,
it is difficult when you don't feel like you're paying
what your value is. When you're being paid what your
value is, it's difficult. But contracts or contracts for a reason, right,
case in point about San Francisco being the right situation
(04:50):
for him to really maybe take a bird's eye, a
ten thousand foot view opposed to the one up close.
Rock Perty's making nine hundred grand next year, okay, right,
And in market, we're quarterbacks with lesser numbers than him. Sure,
(05:11):
the last two seasons, last twenty five and whatever that
is are making fifty forty five, forty eight million dollars
a year. He's making nine hundred thousand. So, just to
put things in perspective, the player that you value the
(05:32):
most on your team, which is the quarterback, as a receiver.
That is your guy. He's got to get you the ball.
Someone who's increased his value the last year and a half,
and Brock thirty is making thirteen point one million dollars
less than him. That's welcome, welcome to perspective.
Speaker 3 (05:53):
That's a great point.
Speaker 5 (05:54):
If we're talking about how you would advise you if
you're an agent. What about Davonte Adams agents coming out
and saying, quote, this is baseless, unfound the speculation and
Davante is expected to be with the Raiders as there
has been absolutely no trade talk period. What do you
make of his agents coming out here, two of them
coming out here on this joint statement after I guess
(06:16):
Aaron Rodgers in that Netflix show.
Speaker 4 (06:19):
Uh well, I watched the Netflix show and I couldn't
help but just be sad for Davonte.
Speaker 3 (06:24):
He looks miserable, doesn't he fl Oh.
Speaker 4 (06:26):
My god, it's look. I'm here, I'm watching it all,
watching the last night left up for nights. I'm really
heartbroken for him because I know how good he is,
I know how how how much he wants to win.
He's one of the, if not the top, one of
the top three receivers in all the football. But you
wouldn't know that when you got me throwing you the ball, right, So.
Speaker 1 (06:50):
Why not demand the trade? You know his agents didn't
come out and say this on their own.
Speaker 6 (06:55):
Yeah, because sometimes you gotta read between the lines, right, like, hey,
he does not he's not demanding the trade.
Speaker 4 (07:05):
Like once you start, once that notion is out there,
then people will start calling. Now, if you don't want
people in your business, right, then you make a statement,
right like you let's not throw too much attention here.
But I mean a talent like that literally just being
(07:29):
being wasted. Like I felt bad for when he was like,
I gotta get out of here. I'm about to get killed.
They about to kill me. I gotta get out of here.
I ain't never been hit like that in my life, right,
Like I felt bad for it. But it also shows
you the value of a quarterback, Brandon Nayuk. Be careful
what you wish for, right well, right, careful what you
(07:51):
wish for right right? Like that? This is the this
is perfect. Everything is lining up for that young man
Brandon to understand.
Speaker 6 (08:00):
Man, whoa, whoa, whoah, whoa.
Speaker 4 (08:01):
I'm getting paid handsomely right for one year, I can
go out here, I can do my things with a
quarterback I know can get me the ball.
Speaker 3 (08:14):
Alarm those lines. We were talking about this yesterday Martin
and I Tua.
Speaker 1 (08:20):
Now reportedly he wants to you know, he wants market value,
and that makes sense, right, fifty three fifty.
Speaker 3 (08:26):
Five million a year whatever? It sounds like. It's kind
of trying to glean from the reports. I don't know.
Speaker 1 (08:32):
They may be offering him around forty five, maybe between
forty five and fifty. I get that he can be
upset that that's not quite market value. But again, if
he looks in the mirror and says, Okay, I've only
been healthy one out of four seasons, I've got the
best receiving corps in the league. I've got a great
(08:55):
play caller as my head coach.
Speaker 3 (08:58):
I've got very good running backs.
Speaker 1 (09:00):
I'm in warm weather like I'm in a great situation,
and one hit next year could change my whole career.
Why don't I go even though it's a little less
than I want. Maybe I should go ahead and sign
the long term deal for forty five forty eight million
a year, whatever it would be. Do you think that's
(09:22):
something he should really look at?
Speaker 4 (09:24):
I do and I'll tell you why if market value
for a quarterback is fifty million and they come in
at forty seven million a year, given your history of injury,
not just in the pros but also in college. Once
you begin to get hurt, you don't ever get back
(09:47):
to one hundred percent. So with that knowledge, with the
knowledge of I have all the weapons I could possibly want,
I'm at a place that I love, no state taxes,
I'm with an offensive minded head coach who loves me.
All of these things are perfect, and I'm gonna be
(10:10):
paid three million undermarket value. Let me see is it
worth it? Right?
Speaker 3 (10:19):
I agree with you.
Speaker 4 (10:20):
Hey, I think more guys because the money is so large.
Now now you can start talking about NBA NFL money
because the money is so large.
Speaker 6 (10:30):
So what's the difference.
Speaker 3 (10:32):
What can you do with fifty million you can't do
with forty seven.
Speaker 4 (10:36):
Look at what Jalen Bronston did, right, Well, he took security,
but he also took the fact that he is exactly
where he wants to be, playing with his best friends.
Speaker 3 (10:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (10:50):
Right. In order for me, if he dreamt his last
year at Villanova, if he were to sit down and
dream about his dream scenario in the NBA. It would
be be playing in the mecca of basketball. It would
be playing with my college teammates, right and on the
teams that can compete for a championship. Now, that's really
(11:11):
that would be exactly what he would wish for. And
to have it and throw that all the way because
you want to take all the money and we're forgetting
the whole point of this thing.
Speaker 1 (11:24):
That's our man. Even we got a run, brother, but
great knowledge. We appreciate you.
Speaker 3 (11:29):
Absolutely, yes, sir, all right, Martin Weiss. The Clippers are bugging.

So you guys are both actually back on the show.
So nobody's going on vacation nothing like that?
Speaker 1 (12:53):
Huh No, well, Martin Martin is in for Rob Rob Rob?
Is that All Star game?
Speaker 3 (13:00):
Yeah? And next week I will be on vacation.
Speaker 8 (13:03):
But hey, okay, so this is part of course.
Speaker 3 (13:07):
Yes, yes, yes, Antonio. I gotta do tell you though.
Speaker 5 (13:10):
My dad is a huge fan of the Pelicans and
he loves what you call the games.
Speaker 3 (13:14):
And I heard when he heard me on with you
the other day.
Speaker 5 (13:16):
He was like, is that Antonio Daniels for the Pelican broadcast?
And as we just heard Chris Christmas say, it absolutely is.
Speaker 6 (13:24):
Oh well, thank you, thank you so much. I appreciate that.
Speaker 3 (13:27):
No, doubt Anton.
Speaker 1 (13:29):
Let's go to Team USA first.
Speaker 3 (13:33):
I look, I think we're going to win gold.
Speaker 1 (13:36):
I think they've already played two top notch teams in
Australia and Canada, and even though they haven't played their best,
you know they've they've won fairly comfortably. I know Australia
made it a game late. But as I watched these games,
and Martin and I talked about this yesterday, I feel
like our offense is just kind of for the most part,
(13:59):
their moving the ball around the perimeter looking for the
open three. Now, you know, they'll drive, take a couple
of dribbles, draw some attention, and kick it out for three.
You know, there's the occasional drive to the bucket. But
I look at the other teams and I see backdoor cuts.
I see a variety of offensive approach. I'm saying, I mean,
(14:20):
do you see much more than us looking for the
open threes?
Speaker 4 (14:24):
No?
Speaker 8 (14:24):
But the thing is I wouldn't expect much more than that.
I mean, the difference in the two for me is
a lot of these other teams have been playing together
for a long time.
Speaker 1 (14:34):
Yeah, but they I mean they go I hear that
all the time, but they go to their professional teams
during the season, whether it's NBA or somewhere in Europe.
Speaker 3 (14:44):
It's not like they're you know, they were kids.
Speaker 1 (14:46):
Yeah they played a little together, but you know what
I mean, I think that's a little overused reason inform.
Speaker 8 (14:51):
But here's the thing, though, Rob, here's the thing. Is
there another team out there that has as much talent
as the United States does?
Speaker 2 (14:59):
No?
Speaker 8 (15:00):
Okay, so now let's translate this to the NBA level.
When you look at this at the NBA level, when
a star player is taken out of the lineup, right,
let's say Lucas taken out of the lineup for that
particular game for the Dallas Mavericks, that doesn't the ball
move more?
Speaker 1 (15:16):
Yes, I get it, when you don't have as much
talent you need, you have.
Speaker 8 (15:22):
To move more when you don't have as much talent.
But when you have the amount of talent that USA does,
and they had a shortened training camp, like, we can't
expect them to be out there running the prison offense
or to be out there running the triangle offense they like.
It sounds crazy to say, but they have too much talent.
So who do you run your offense through? If you
(15:42):
are Steve Kirk. When you have Lebron James and Steph
Curry and Joe el Embiid and Devin Booker and Anthony
of who do you run your offense through? Like the
US state? You know, the identity is talent.
Speaker 1 (15:58):
Fair enough, I hear you, But I I think that
makes the game something may be closer than they need
to be.
Speaker 8 (16:05):
Well, I don't think the Australian game was different because
even in the Australian game, the game versus Australia, Lebron's
Steph and those guys didn't even start the second half
nor finish the game. So it's almost like at halftime
they win a completely different direction, you know, just like
and you can say the team Canada, Team Canada chose
(16:26):
for whatever reason to kind of shut it down at
the end of the game, and the UF team kind
of shut it down that halftime because Lebron and those
other guys didn't even really play in the second half.
So I don't listen. My thing is you said you
expect them to win goals. I don't expect anything less.
I don't expect really close games. I know some of
(16:48):
these guys have been playing together since they've been ten
years old. But I don't expect a team to really
push the United States like Team Canada could or like Australia.
I'm not expecting that, Antonio, Do you expect that Joel
Embiid will remain in the starting lineup? Because to me,
it feels like you were just talking about how Luca
(17:08):
when he's out of the game for the Mavericks, how
the ball moves more. It feels like the ball is
not a stop sign, but a red light every time
he catches it on the offensive side.
Speaker 3 (17:17):
I think he'd be better served in the second unit.
What do you think, Like With.
Speaker 8 (17:21):
All due respect to Joel Embiid, we discussed this today
on my Sera s X TIM show. This particular style
of europe basketball is more geared for Anthony Davis and
dan Matebayo because if you like anybody posting up like that,
anybody doing that. Joel Embiid is incredibly dominant when he
(17:43):
plays with the Philadelphia seventy six ers, but when he
plays with Team USA, like you just said, it's almost
like a stop sign. You almost want a big that
will run, that has switchability, that can step out, knock
down shots, that can that's versatile, defensively, can switch one
through movies, defeat Joel Embiid is a lot of things,
but that those are a few things that he's not.
(18:05):
And I'll say this, he doesn't look healthy to me.
He doesn't look healthy like I. Okay, since we're talking
about Team USA, can I ask you guys the question?
Speaker 4 (18:15):
Sure?
Speaker 8 (18:16):
Totally off subject, totally on subject. Okay, So Team USA
basically released Kawhi Leonard, right right? Why are they? Why
did they release Kawhi Leonard? And Kevin Durant hasn't participated
in anything. He hasn't participated in primages, practices, games, nothing,
(18:41):
So why did they release Kawhi Leonard? But are giving
Kevin Durant the benefit of a doubt?
Speaker 1 (18:47):
Well, look, we've been saying Kawhi probably as he's obviously
great enough to be on the team, But with his
injury situation or health situation, I don't know why he
was put on the team in the first place. And
I'm wondering about Embiid to be like, if you're saying
he's not healthy and a lot of I've heard other
people say that if I'm he needs his most important
(19:09):
thing is getting ready for.
Speaker 2 (19:10):
The secree season, right and Durandry.
Speaker 3 (19:13):
I mean, I'm a little baffled about Durant too.
Speaker 1 (19:17):
I guess they think it's not a serious injury, but
remember this calf strain is the thing that led to
his achilles, you know, years ago.
Speaker 4 (19:24):
And going state.
Speaker 3 (19:25):
So yeah, I just don't.
Speaker 1 (19:27):
Know why they're these guys who are injured or even
on the team.
Speaker 8 (19:32):
So so the thing about Kevin Durant, he hasn't participated
in anything yet. At least Kawhi Leonard was practicing. Kawhi
Leonard got off a couple of really really good practices.
According to Lord's Front, Kevin Durant hasn't practiced yet, he
hasn't scrimmished yet, he hasn't played the game yet. But yet,
Kawhi Leonard was let go a team USA, and Kevin
Durant is still around and they're giving him the benefit.
Speaker 4 (19:54):
Of the doubts.
Speaker 8 (19:55):
Totally different with Joelle Embiid. If I'm the Philadelphia seventy
six ers, my thing is, I don't put him out here.
He has a giant brace on his knee and he
is not moving well. He's not moving well, and he
wasn't moving well in the playoffs, right, and if I'm
a Dallas Mavericks fan, the best news that I heard
(20:16):
was lukea Slovenia not making the Olympics because now it
gives him an opportunity to rest.
Speaker 3 (20:24):
I'm with you. I mean, I'm with you, and.
Speaker 1 (20:26):
I I feel like after this year, Antonio, the NBA
needs to really look at this, like, don't put guys
out there who have injury histories or you know, like
are our injury prone?
Speaker 3 (20:41):
Because it's okay, I.
Speaker 8 (20:44):
Would Kevin Durant be considered injury prone.
Speaker 1 (20:47):
Well, I'm not saying he's not. To me, he's not
on the level of Kawhi. Like Kawhi or MB those
two guys are almost always hurt come playoff time. So
I feel like there's a limit to how many games
they can play in the calendar year remain healthy. And
so I don't need to add, you know, high level
(21:07):
Olympic games to it. But all right, Antonio, great stuff, man.
We appreciate your brother, for sure.
Speaker 8 (21:14):
I appreciate you guys.
Speaker 4 (21:15):
I have a blessed night, no doubt.
Speaker 3 (21:16):
YELP you too.
Speaker 1 (21:17):

San Francisco Bay Area. He's also a Fox Sports Radio
weekend host. But Mark is a great guy to talk to.
Speaker 3 (22:24):
Friends of the show.
Speaker 1 (22:25):
Both Rob and I Martin did weekend shows with Mark
Willard before the I Couple came to be, and he's
great to talk to because he's right there in the
Bay area. And of course to do this with Brandon Ayuk. Yes,
so no, Chris had all the updates from him.
Speaker 5 (22:43):
I do have to say I didn't get a chance
to trash what I wanted to trash.
Speaker 3 (22:46):
I came up with.
Speaker 5 (22:47):
Something these All Star game that his name, No no,
I got no more energy for Fernando. These All Star
All Star jerseys are a trocious.
Speaker 3 (23:00):
Just don't what are they trying?
Speaker 6 (23:02):
Is that?
Speaker 1 (23:02):
Is that a throwback or what is that? You're right,
they look like something you might wear in Little League.
Speaker 3 (23:08):
Yes, they're terrible.
Speaker 5 (23:10):
They're terrible, and they're almost as bad as the concept
Rob Manford saying they're gonna use robot umps in spring training.
Speaker 3 (23:17):
Why don't we just get better umpires instead of AI?
Ain't everything all right?
Speaker 5 (23:23):
I don't want to go back to the last second
too much, but just two things that drive me nuts.
Speaker 3 (23:28):
Now, that's a great look. I've been on board with
the robot umps. Now, if you.
Speaker 1 (23:36):
Want to save jobs for the human beings, I'm all
for that. But I would say this, Martin, and I
think you probably will agree with me.
Speaker 3 (23:46):
Standardize the strike zone.
Speaker 1 (23:48):
I mean it is standardized, right, but use it like
go buy it, you make it into a put it
into effect. There there is a strike zone. There is
an official strike zone. I'm not really sure what it
is anymore. It used to be like knees to the chest,
you know, the letters on your chest and all that.
(24:11):
But it's probably a little different now. But stamp whatever
it is, enforce it. How about that we don't need
fifteen different umpires having their own strike zone.
Speaker 5 (24:23):
What the heck is that? I think if you told
umpires you have to call it this way or you
will be demoted and sent down the triple A. We
will find other players the same way that they do
with players. If you don't hit, you get sent down.
If you can't pitch, you get sent down. If you
can't field, you get sent down. If you can't call
balls to strikes, get sent down. To send me somebody
(24:45):
else who can.
Speaker 3 (24:46):
I'm with you, like I would prefer that to robot umps.
I want to keep the human element in the.
Speaker 9 (24:52):
Game, absolutely, But if these dudes are gonna insist, one
guy an inch outside off the plate is a strike
for him, One guy at the ankles is a strike
for him.
Speaker 1 (25:04):
Another guys that's too low, Like no, a strike as
a strike.
Speaker 3 (25:09):
And a ball is a ball. And if you can't
do it, then you got to I agree with you. You
get demoted, I just for that. And if they won't
do that, then bring in the robots.
Speaker 5 (25:21):
I just don't understand why the same rules that apply
for players across the board don't also apply to the umpires.
Speaker 3 (25:28):
Now I'm with that. I'm with that, all right. So
I hope you're feeling better.
Speaker 1 (25:32):
I mean, I thought I used, I thought I took
you to the woodshed.
Speaker 4 (25:37):
Gosh.
Speaker 5 (25:39):
But you know what, though, honestly, he didn't even have
it in his heart for real, because if he really
had it in his heart, he would have said more
than blah blah blah.
Speaker 3 (25:45):
That's all you say.
Speaker 5 (25:46):
Oh, I say a ton of things that sound dumb,
you know what I'm saying. If it was really on it,
if his heart was really in it, he had numerous
copious examples of what he could have went with.
Speaker 3 (25:55):
He sure did.
Speaker 1 (25:58):
All right, let's go ky football. You and I we
talked a bit about it last night. I'm excited, man,
I'm excited about the playoff.
Speaker 3 (26:08):
They got it.
Speaker 6 (26:09):
Man.
Speaker 1 (26:09):
They got so far to go, though, with college football,
mark it almost feels further. They have further to go
than they did five years ago. Because now there's so
much is it really is the wild Wild West.
Speaker 3 (26:22):
Free agency essentially.
Speaker 1 (26:24):
Nil and now the twelve team playoff. You know, we
both feel like maybe they're inching toward a two conference,
several multi division type situation like you have in the
NFL three conference, four conference, whatever you want to do.
(26:44):
But I would be all for that. But they're taking
their sweet time and getting there. But anyway, you know,
Colorado Dion Sanders Paul Feinebaum basically mocked the notion as
they joined the Big Twelve this year that they might
actually make a run at the playoff.
Speaker 3 (27:05):
Here's fine boum.
Speaker 10 (27:07):
Anyone asking whether Deon Sanders and Colorado are close to
the playoffs simply doesn't understand.
Speaker 3 (27:15):
The reality of the road.
Speaker 10 (27:16):
They're not going to the playoffs this year, and I'm
not sure Deon Sanders is ever going to get them
to the playoffs, because I don't think he has the
patience to stay at Colorado long enough. There's so many
misconceptions out there. Deon Sanders is the best salesman I've
ever seen. I personally love the guy and for what
he stands for, but the program looking out has a
(27:41):
ridiculously inflated view of itself. I heard Shador Sanders, who's
a fabulous quarterback, say last week we are everyone's super
Bowl Shardoor, you are not. You are an easy win nowadays.
You got off to a phenomenal start last year, beating
a couple of mediocre teams that had big names, and
quite frankly, you haven't done anything since other than crash
(28:03):
and bird. So I know that the media loves this story.
We fall all over ourselves. But Colorado isn't important in
college football. Dion Sanders is. He's a standalone person. He's
one of the most charismatic people we've ever seen.
Speaker 2 (28:20):
But Colorado is nothing.
Speaker 3 (28:22):
They don't matter.
Speaker 10 (28:23):
They're irrelevant in the big picture of college football.
Speaker 1 (28:30):
The only thing I disagree with fine By I'm saying Martin,
is that Colorado is irrelevant in college football. They're relevant.
They're relevant because of Dion Sanders. They're relevant because of
his flamboyance, his charisma, his popularity, his greatness as a
(28:54):
football player himself, the fact that you know, celebrities are
on the side lines like they're relevant because of that.
But as far as football, yeah, Travis Hunter and shaduor
Sanders and they got some nice other nice skilled position players.
Speaker 3 (29:13):
But fine Baum is.
Speaker 1 (29:15):
Right in that they are not a top program. Let's
put it that way. And I don't disagree. And maybe
Dion will prove us wrong. But when you're that his personality,
maybe he will be patient. But his personality doesn't screen patience, right,
(29:38):
It doesn't say it doesn't suggest that you're in it
for the long haul, that you'll fight through the I
know he did this as an athlete, of course, but
will he do it as a coach fight through the
tough times?
Speaker 3 (29:53):
And it was easier as an athlete for him because
he was so great.
Speaker 1 (29:57):
I mean, the tough times were just you working hard
because once you got out there and playing in the games,
your talent was gonna be your talent.
Speaker 3 (30:04):
You were gonna be the best out there.
Speaker 1 (30:06):
But now is he going to take the time to
really build this program into a great program?
Speaker 3 (30:15):
And it remains to be seen.
Speaker 5 (30:18):
Yeah, I agree with fine Bomb in that if that's
that's how you're defining relevancy, then I can get it.
But that's also like the same way that Briani James
is relevant in the NBA discussion, right, Like he's not
relevant in terms of the wins and the losses. It's
more of a novelty. It's more of a he's entered
into the t bow zones Dion has, which everything he
(30:40):
does becomes news right every time he talks, like there's
headlines from it, whether or not he's good, bad, or indifferent.
But in terms of actually competing for a college football
championship this year, absolutely not.
Speaker 3 (30:53):
Does Colorado have a shot, And I'd be.
Speaker 5 (30:55):
Surprised to see it depends I think this, if they
can get another quarterback, Dean'll be at Colorado. But if
you noticed, the only quarterback that he's coaching college so
far has been his son. Like, if they get another
quarterback who's top of the line, then I can see
him staying around trying to fight it out.
Speaker 3 (31:14):
If not, I wouldn't be surprised to see him pulit either. Well,
here's the thing.
Speaker 1 (31:21):
I mean, I look, I guess he'll have some other options.
Speaker 3 (31:26):
I mean, what if they have a season similar to
last year, will he have other options? I mean he
might just stop coaching is after his kid is gone. Yeah,
it'll be interesting, but.
Speaker 1 (31:41):
I'm excited to see I'm gonna be excited to.
Speaker 3 (31:45):
See him play. Oh, I'm gonna watch every game out.
Speaker 1 (31:48):
I mean until they start losing regularly and maybe that
maybe that'll happen. Maybe it won't this year, but until
they start really getting walloped and just are are a
bad team, I will be excited to see them play.
Speaker 3 (32:01):
And I do think Shaduur is really good.
Speaker 1 (32:06):
Travis Hunter is, Yeah, So to watch them, it's all
gonna come down to their offensive line. I know their
defense had to improve as well, but they basically revamped
their whole offensive line with the portal and we'll see
if that turns out to be a good thing. But
(32:26):
if they can get the line together, because even last year,
outside of Hunter and Shaduur, they have some good skilled players.
Speaker 3 (32:33):
They did, so that's gonna be the key.
Speaker 1 (32:37):
Can they get the big nasties, the big uglies up
front to do the dirty work so their skilled players
can shine. But it's gonna be fun and we said it,
look Dion he brings, you know, he brings this type
of attention. Uh, he's gonna bring this type of criticism, skepticism.
(32:57):
But it's great for college football and it's great for
him and Colorado.
Speaker 3 (33:02):
But at some point you gotta start winning. Yeah, I think.
Speaker 5 (33:05):
I think if they win six games this year, I
think that that should be looked at as a success.
Speaker 3 (33:10):
And I don't think it will be, but I think
it should be.
Speaker 5 (33:12):
You go from one win the year before he got there,
four wins his first year, six wins the next year,
and then I think after that you're looking at all right, camp,
they should be actually competing by the by year three
of a program.
Speaker 3 (33:24):
I think that's how long it takes to build in
college football.
Speaker 1 (33:27):
Here's the only problem with that. If they win six
games this year and then Shador goes to the NFL.
Speaker 3 (33:34):
That's why I said you gotta final quarter.
Speaker 1 (33:36):
I mean, what if they don't replace him with a
capable quarterback? You know, so that that's what it's all
gonna come down to. They could they could be starting
over from scratch, or to your point, maybe Deana move on.
Speaker 3 (33:49):
We'll see all right eight seven seven ninety nine on
Fox eight seven seven nine nine six sixty three sixty nine.
Speaker 1 (33:56):
You'll turn the way in. What do you think about
Coloradoo this year? Are they a factor.
Speaker 3 (34:03):
In the soon to be college football playoffs? And what
do you think? What type of job would Dion do
this year? Your thoughts.
Speaker 1 (34:12):
Next Chris and Martin Weiss, the odd couple Fox Sports Radio,
