However you may be listening.
Speaker 1 (01:18):
And with that said, let me welcome in my partner,
mister Ryn Parker.
Speaker 3 (01:23):
What's up, man, mister Chris Brusson, how are you? Man?
Speaker 1 (01:28):
I know we have not I don't were we on
this I don't know if we were on the radio
together at all in August.
Speaker 4 (01:35):
No, no, no, we missed the entire month. It wasn't
by design. It was the first time. We both just
had vacation and it just seemed to not line up.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
You had vacation you had to take or something right
like you had cause you haven't taken a lot of vacation.
Speaker 3 (01:53):
Right right, I was forced to. I wasn't sure if
you found a new girlfriend or what.
Speaker 4 (02:00):
Hey, it would have been worth it right there, my goodness, gracious,
but uh yeah, man, we haven't been on a radio
in a month.
Speaker 3 (02:07):
It's crazy. It's good to see you. Good to be on.
Speaker 1 (02:10):
We've talked you know, of course, but it's definitely good
to be back. You gotta go, especially you, I mean you.
Speaker 3 (02:21):
You need to go. You need to go.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
It was great and we had a wonderful time, and
uh it's been a great summer.
Speaker 5 (02:28):
Man.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
I got no complaints. And uh so let's introduce the
odd Couple crew and then we will get this party
started on the ones.
Speaker 3 (02:38):
Well, no, not yet.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
But on the social media, our man Elijah Sebuna on
the updates.
Speaker 3 (02:45):
You just heard him a few moments ago as the
Great Steve the Seger and running things. Patrick Sweeka is.
Speaker 1 (02:55):
Enjoying this Labor Day vacation him and an Alyx family.
Speaker 3 (02:59):
And well, Alex is another one.
Speaker 1 (03:02):
I don't think Alex has been on since you, you
and I have been on together.
Speaker 3 (03:06):
I mean I haven't had Alex in a while.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
He'll be he will be back, good good, Well, you
just heard her on the Ones and the twos is.
Speaker 6 (03:21):
And Chris Bussar.
Speaker 4 (03:23):
Before you take the stage, Before you take the stage, Hey,
mister Steve the Sega, is he there?
Speaker 6 (03:30):
Yep?
Speaker 4 (03:31):
Can you get the breaking news ready to go? Oh wow,
let's do that first and then Crys will take center stage.
All right, Steve, somebody hit it please.
Speaker 3 (03:46):
Wow. I didn't expect that, Rod, but break is breaking.
Speaker 1 (03:50):
News, and it kind of is. I mean, the New
York Post had a big time Chris that I was
in the New York Post. Men, I'm here in New York,
so you know, they maybe not had something to do
with it.
Speaker 3 (04:01):
But the New York Post wrote about a week and.
Speaker 1 (04:04):
A half ago that I will be leaving the Odd Couple.
Speaker 3 (04:09):
And we really haven't addressed it.
Speaker 1 (04:11):
We had a few callers, Rob call in and you know,
say say stuff, and I just thank them, you know,
they praised the show and all that. But I am
officially announcing that I am indeed leaving the Odd Couple.
Speaker 3 (04:27):
It is true after what rap six years?
Speaker 6 (04:30):
Six full yegether time?
Speaker 7 (04:32):
Years?
Speaker 2 (04:33):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (04:33):
Yeah, and it was another year maybe or six months
six mon.
Speaker 6 (04:38):
It on weekends, weekend show.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
Right, Yes, I will be leaving the Odd Couple.
Speaker 1 (04:44):
My last day is next Friday, September thirteen.
Speaker 6 (04:47):
Can you see my glasses getting fulled with water.
Speaker 3 (04:53):
It is tough. It's a tough announcement to make.
Speaker 1 (04:57):
But and you know, again and for those I don't know,
Rob were, they're rumors that we got beef or we
got tension. I'm sure that yeah, yeah, it could further
from the truth, right, I mean we I shared this
with Rob and the executives at Fox Sports Radio and
(05:17):
iHeart Radio in January when I finished my contract, my
new contract with FS one and told them that after
this contract for my radio the radio show was over,
I would not be continuing. So Rob has known this
for months and we were able to keep it quiet. Rob,
that's a testament to us.
Speaker 6 (05:40):
It's amazing Chris for that.
Speaker 3 (05:43):
Like whatever that is.
Speaker 6 (05:44):
Yeah, that's a long time.
Speaker 1 (05:46):
And it's basically I'm just leaving to focus on television.
Speaker 3 (05:52):
People know.
Speaker 1 (05:53):
I'm the co one of the co hosts along with
Nick Wright and Kevin Wilds of First Things First on FS.
Speaker 3 (05:59):
One and I've been doing that and the ID.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
Couple for the past two or three years. And uh,
it's a long grind. It's not undoable, of course, but
it's a long grind. Basically, been working from ten am
to ten pm Monday through Friday, and so it's a
complete lifestyle move. My daughters are adults now, they're out
(06:23):
of the house. My wife and I are empty nesters,
and we just want to have more time to hang
out together, Rob and have fun.
Speaker 3 (06:33):
And so that is a part of it.
Speaker 1 (06:36):
As you know and many people know, I also run
a national Christian men's organization called the King Movement.
Speaker 3 (06:44):
I will have more time to work.
Speaker 1 (06:46):
On that and build that and you know, just some
other individual things I'm gonna want to do with my time.
But I will say this, Rob, I hope that occasionally
I will be a guest on the odd Couple and
whenever you guys need me, I like to pop on
and share my opinion with you. But our as Rob knows,
(07:10):
I'm just saying this really for the listeners.
Speaker 3 (07:12):
We've been friends.
Speaker 1 (07:13):
Thirty two years, yes, and that is not changing. We
will still be in touch with one another obviously and
talking and when he comes to New York hanging out
and things like that, or when I'm in LA. So
there's no there were no issues whatsoever with Rob and me.
So anybody that's thinking that or putting that out there,
(07:36):
just you can put that to rest.
Speaker 8 (07:38):
I do.
Speaker 1 (07:38):
Also, Rob want to thank some people, and I want
to start with Don Martin and who's the executive vice
president of iHeartMedia Radio, and Scott Shapiro, the senior vice
president of iHeart and Fox Sports Radio. Because Rob, they
discovered us. And first of all, I'll say this about
(08:01):
Don and Scott. When I first left ESPN and went
to Fox Sports Radio, I had not done much radio.
Speaker 3 (08:08):
I had filled in here and there Stephen A.
Speaker 1 (08:10):
Smith, or had Mike and Mike in the Morning right,
never had my own show. And a part of me
coming to Fox Sports Radio was that I would do
radio and I started on the weekends with various people
Brian no And and some other people, and then they
Don Martin, Mark Willard, Yes, we both worked with and
(08:34):
Don Martin heard I had a podcast at the time
for FS one Call in the Zone, and I had
you on as a guest, and Don Martin heard it
and loved it and was like, why aren't you two
doing radio together? You know, and he was like, I
(08:55):
think you guys would be great on radio, and he,
you know, start hearted us out on the weekends doing
it once a week and then it went well and
as they thought it would, but had to test it.
And then we six years ago we became a daily show.
Speaker 3 (09:14):
Hey, Rob, we think.
Speaker 1 (09:16):
We're the first two African American men right to have
a nationally syndicated radio show.
Speaker 3 (09:24):
You had the two live students.
Speaker 1 (09:26):
They're only on it about twenty markets or something, and
we're in a nearly four hundred, and I thinks Big
Mail Jamel and Mike Hill, Jamel Smith and Mike Hill,
or Jamel Hill and Mike Smith Michael Smith. But they
weren't that a radio show. And yeah, they did the
TV show, so they didn't do radio. So yeah, I
think that's that's an achievement.
Speaker 6 (09:46):
And the other thing too Christian.
Speaker 4 (09:48):
So not to stop, y'all want you to continue, but also,
you know, like most of the time when they put
guys on, somebody's an athlete or something. Right, we're two journalists,
black journalists who had never been given this opportunity, and
neither one of us. I mean, I've done radio for
a long time, but you know me, I'm a sports writer,
is my trade, and that's what you are. We're both
(10:10):
If we had to pick something, right, we spent more time.
Speaker 3 (10:15):
As rights reporters, absolutely as writers.
Speaker 4 (10:18):
Did we have any other job, even though we do
TV and we do radio.
Speaker 6 (10:23):
So that was the unique thing.
Speaker 4 (10:25):
And you know what, Don, You're right, Don and Scott
they came together put us on and that was quick
because we I don't think we did the Sunday Show
for six months. It was yeah, when they decided to
give us a full time show, and we're we're thankful.
Speaker 1 (10:38):
But absolutely I don't want to stand but yeah, I
want to thank those two, Scott and Scott. We go
back to espn uh and he did put me on
Mike and Mike a lot, and so yeah, Scott Shapiro,
Don Martin, just other executive Jay Cossup vo veto volonte
(11:00):
Rob he of course, as you know, he did the
open that everybody hears every night.
Speaker 3 (11:05):
Every night he put it to the big voice is
the one who is it, yep.
Speaker 1 (11:11):
And so we want to thank them, of course, dj
Alex tight Shirt and Mary Mary and and Mighty Mark
Ramsey and Rob g who is a terrific producer. Rob
He's phenomenal and we couldn't have a better producer as
Dj Alex Tysher.
Speaker 3 (11:31):
Is great when he's here on the Ones, in the Twoes.
Speaker 1 (11:35):
But all the update guys, Steve de Sager who's fantastic,
Brian Finley, Isaac Lowing Crime, Nick Cope, of course, the
great Elijah Sabuna, Sagar Patel who backs him up. But
all the people, Rob at iHeart and Fox Sports Radio
and if I missed anyone, it was an accident and
(11:57):
I apologize, but I just want to thank you guys.
Speaker 3 (11:59):
I also want to thank Rob Fox Sports Radio for
as this show.
Speaker 1 (12:05):
It's the odd couple and even though we're great friends,
we are different. And I appreciate Fox Sports Radio and
iHeart allowing me to just be me.
Speaker 3 (12:16):
You know, I'm a person that takes my faith very seriously.
Speaker 1 (12:20):
It's in the freaking open of our show, you know,
and I respect iHeart for doing that. A lot of
places wouldn't do that, and so I think that's great
and really Rob a testament. You and I we've been
a lot of places, and I think we both would
say since we've been there. At Fox Sports, they allow
(12:40):
you to be you, you know, and you and I
we talk about different issues from our own perspective. People
we've worked with on television. You've had the Shannon Sharps
of the world and progressive people voices, and you've had
the Jason Whitlocks of the world on Fox Sports and
so who's a right wing voice? And so I like
(13:03):
that and appreciate that at Fox Sports Radio and even
FS one, where they really allow you to be who
you are. And so, like I said, signing off within
the next two weeks, September thirteenth will be my last day.
But it's been great, Rob, And most importantly, I want
(13:24):
to thank you for being a great friend and a
great partner. We've had some wonderful times. I think you
brought out the best of me, and you got me
singing good times. And Jefferson's that is that is and
(13:46):
so man, thank you, and I look, I know you'll
have success with you know, going forward, and so I'm
looking forward to listening to you on the radio for
many many more years.
Speaker 4 (13:58):
Well let me say this, and I'm not gonna and
eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox anytime today you
want to talk to Chris and throw him his flowers
because he deserves it. And the Odd Couple is not
going anywhere. I'm not going anywhere. But I'm gonna say
the last six years and Chris, you know, I've been
done radio for a long time. I had some great
(14:18):
partners in Detroit, Stony and Mark Wilson and Brandon Tierney
in New York was a partner of mine. But the
last six years were history making, record setting, and we've
put a stamp on radio. The Odd Couple brand, Chris franchise,
whatever you want to call it, is.
Speaker 3 (14:40):
Real.
Speaker 6 (14:41):
And we both did that. And that's always hard.
Speaker 4 (14:45):
To do in radio and chemistry is the hardest thing, guys,
in radio chemistry, you could put a lot of people together.
And we know this because we have friends who are
in the business and out of the business who have
old us time and time again.
Speaker 6 (15:03):
Chris, you guys have a great radio show.
Speaker 4 (15:06):
You guys really really sound like, you know, like a show,
and you're you're different and and and and it's never
the same. And I want to thank you for the
for the last six years. Of course we known each
other longer than that, but the last six years and
the same thing. I think you bring the best out
of me. Sometimes it could be wild and crazy, and
(15:27):
I could be mad at you like a brother, you
know what I mean. But the one thing that we
never did was we never let it get beyond that
it's a radio show. And I could be mad and
and Chris could be mad at me, and and you know,
even in the studio, the behind the scenes people are
be like mom and dad are fighting, you know, like
(15:48):
you know when we go at it right, right, what
was the passion of it, Chris, That's what it was.
Speaker 3 (15:53):
And that was one thing that made the show great,
was the passion, right.
Speaker 4 (15:57):
Like, we didn't mail it in, and we didn't let
anybody come on the show and say anything. But but
I like eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox. We
will take your phone call. But Chris, I'm gonna miss you.
I mean, I am, we'll move forward. Everybody else is
sticking around. You're the big TV star. We'll just slum
it on the radio. But no, but, but, but for real,
(16:21):
we would not have I would not be where I'm
at today. And I have signed a new contract, a
multi year to stay at Fox.
Speaker 6 (16:28):
I'm very happy here, thank you. And Chris is right.
Speaker 4 (16:32):
We work for great bosses who let us be us.
Not once i'ven't been called to the principal's office. And Chris,
you know that when we worked at other places that
wasn't always the case.
Speaker 3 (16:44):
Yep, absolutely, You're absolutely right.
Speaker 6 (16:47):
Absolutely right. But that's it. I'm I would just say
thank you, Chris, thank you. I wish you well.
Speaker 4 (16:52):
I understand why you're doing this a better life. You
and Crystal spend time together, have dinner together. You don't
have to eat in between commercial breaks at night.
Speaker 3 (17:02):
Which is what I do. No, I get it.
Speaker 6 (17:04):
So so yeah, we want to hear from you.
Speaker 4 (17:07):
Yeah, bro, Chris is Flowers, this is okay, this is
okay today, Chris, I want you to hear from the people.
Speaker 3 (17:13):
Okay eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox.
Speaker 1 (17:16):
And let me throw this out rob before I go,
because and I'm just gonna put it out there so
it's on the record, and talking with Don and Scott
you know.
Speaker 3 (17:25):
About this, They said, Hey, if whether.
Speaker 1 (17:30):
Something happens or positive, negative, whatever, I always have a
home at Fox Sports Radio, and so you never know.
I'm still a young man, all right, So I may,
I may. When I was, I'm putting it out there
that they have said, I always have a home at
Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (17:49):
So you never know. But eight seven, seven ninety nine
on Fox.
Speaker 1 (17:53):
If you want to weigh in on the Odd Couple,
Chris and Rob Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (17:58):
Thanks for listening to The Odd Couple.
Speaker 1 (18:00):
Be sure to catch us live every weekday from seven
pm to ten pm Eastern four to seven pm Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio. Find your local station for The
Odd Couple at Foxsports Radio dot com, or stream us
live every day on the iHeartRadio app by searching FSR.
Speaker 3 (18:22):
He's Mike Carman, I'm Dan Byer.
Speaker 8 (18:24):
We have a fantasy football podcast called I Want Your Flex.
Speaker 9 (18:28):
That's right, Dan. Every week we're gonna scour the waiver
wire to find the pickups to turbo boost your fantasy lineup.
Six starts, fantasy football players rankings to get you ready
to dominate the competition.
Speaker 8 (18:40):
Listen to I Want Your Flex with Mike Carmin and
Met Dan Byer on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts and
wherever you be your podcasts.
Speaker 3 (18:47):
It is the Odd Couple. I'm Chris E's Rob.
Speaker 1 (18:50):
We are live from the tire rack dot Com studios.
Tireg dot com will help you get there. They've got
an unmatched selection, fast free shipping, free row hazard protection
and more than ten thousand recommended installers. Tirereg dot Com
is the way tire buying should be. And this right here,
the Odd Couple is the way sports talk radio should be.
Speaker 3 (19:13):
Our number two. At the bottom of the hour, Tyler.
Speaker 1 (19:16):
Dragon USA Today NFL reporter will join us to talk
about the NFL as which gets underway Thursday with the
Baltimore Ravens at the Kansas City Chiefs rematch it at
AFC title game. So be good to talk to Tyler.
But we announced earlier in the show that there are
(19:38):
almost I guess two weeks left of ten shows left. Yes,
of this iteration of the odd Couple, I mean Rob
has done the eye couple like five times.
Speaker 6 (19:49):
No, I have.
Speaker 3 (19:51):
Twice. This was your third. When I think no, this
is your third eye.
Speaker 6 (19:55):
Go second scond but you need it low in Detroit.
Speaker 4 (20:02):
But but not for six years and not with the
success that we've had here. Yes, I mean, let's not
and we're not just trying to pat ourselves on the back.
Speaker 6 (20:11):
But Chris, you know I mentioned it earlier.
Speaker 4 (20:14):
We know we had an impact on the station, on
the network, and and with people who who we know,
and people we know in the industry like who listen,
you know, like nobody's faking that we don't have big
time people are their own TV and radio shows calling
us and telling us how much they enjoy our show
(20:35):
just to do it.
Speaker 6 (20:35):
You know that?
Speaker 3 (20:36):
Yep, yep, and uh.
Speaker 1 (20:38):
And I think one of the things that hopefully people
appreciated about the show, right, we were fair, you know,
we would you know, talk about race and other issues,
hot button issues, and we obviously would come from an
African American perspective, but I don't think anybody would say
(21:00):
we were unfair, and well, let anybody talk, buddy, right.
Speaker 3 (21:05):
And then we we also.
Speaker 1 (21:08):
When we thought Caitlyn Clark was getting a bad rap
in certain you know, from certain people, we didn't we
we I don't want.
Speaker 3 (21:18):
To say sided with her.
Speaker 1 (21:20):
We didn't that was we didn't think her race was
the reason she was a good basketball like like viewed
as a good basketball player.
Speaker 3 (21:30):
Let's put it that way. She can just play and
she's proving it down the w n B A.
Speaker 1 (21:34):
But so I just think that callers, even if they
disagree with us, Rob will have to say we're fair.
Speaker 3 (21:41):
Yeah, we call it down the line.
Speaker 4 (21:42):
We got age seven seven ninety nine on Fox. We
want to take more calls.
Speaker 6 (21:45):
Yeah, big, you.
Speaker 4 (21:46):
Want to call in and wa want to call in.
But we do have Steve from South Florida. He's on
the He's on the line, Steve. How you doing, buddy?
Speaker 5 (21:55):
What's up?
Speaker 3 (21:55):
Guys?
Speaker 5 (21:56):
I got props for both of you. I'm gonna start
with the King first, King Chris, I'm gonna take you
back to hear two thousand and eight at the NBA
Draft Madison Square Garden at the Theater, Dereck Rose went
pick number one. I was a wide eyed college kid
trying to get a job. Now give me ten minutes. Here.
You gave me ten minutes your time, You gave me advice, man,
and you gave me the car that I needed to
blow up and have a great career. Now props to you.
Speaker 2 (22:17):
Rob.
Speaker 5 (22:17):
The year's twenty nineteen. I called in trash Talk Tuesday.
We made a bet on the air. I took the Patriots,
you took the Rams. I'm still waiting for the shuckles. Brother,
I got it. If you don't, you don't remember, I
still got the audio from it.
Speaker 6 (22:32):
I got you.
Speaker 3 (22:32):
We'll make sure, we'll make sure we take care of you.
Speaker 1 (22:35):
That's okay. Steve in South Florida. I appreciate for the call.
Yes eight seven ninety nine on Fox if you want
to call in and share your thoughts on the eye.
Speaker 4 (22:44):
Couple, Yes and Krik we're doing today. We have a
mystery caller here.
Speaker 3 (22:48):
Oh oh speak, you're on the line.
Speaker 2 (22:54):
Well, I think I don't know if this is true.
Speaker 5 (22:59):
Thanks.
Speaker 2 (23:02):
Only one person that can say that he was a
co host with both of you.
Speaker 3 (23:07):
Is that true? Was Brian know? Is that another way? Maybe?
Speaker 6 (23:12):
Brian no trying, but you are Yeah, Willer broke us Radio.
Speaker 3 (23:18):
Absolutely. Mark, It is great to hear from you, man.
Speaker 6 (23:21):
Thanks for calling in.
Speaker 2 (23:22):
Wasn't going to miss opportunity because from like bottom of
my heart, I wanted to say this. So driving around
whatever it was half hour ago, and Don and so
I'm I'm listening to this and I'm remembering six years
ago when the thought of the two of you doing
(23:43):
a daily show was being sort of introduced and talked
about within the company. And I got on the phone
with Don because I hadn't started my show here in
San Francisco yet, and I got on the phone with Don,
and I obviously know both of you so well, and
I'm like, Don like making a three person show, like
(24:04):
I can work with both of these guys, and both
of them are real opinionated, but they haven't let a
show yet. Let me be that guy. And Don straight
shooter as he always is, He's like, Mark, they can
do it without you, and he was absolutely right. So
(24:28):
I'm I'm so glad that they they did it the
way they did it, and that you guys did it
the way you did it, and you deserve everything that
everybody's saying to both of you today.
Speaker 6 (24:40):
Wow, Thank thank you.
Speaker 9 (24:42):
Mark.
Speaker 1 (24:42):
It would have, first of all, I would have been
a great trio. There's no doubt about that, because you know,
I mean, you know, we've talked about it before. We
had a great time to gather you and I when
we did the show. Great chemistry, Uh, it was just
a lot of fun and I know it was saying
with you and Rob. So we're happy man for all
(25:03):
your success up in San Francisco.
Speaker 3 (25:06):
And Man, thanks for calling in on this day, brother.
Speaker 2 (25:11):
And one more thing, one more thing, like again, I
know radio hearts are breaking all over the country, but
at the same time, I'm kind of excited because Chris, now,
you can't say no to me when I call you.
Speaker 3 (25:24):
Now, you're right about that. I got the time now, man,
So anytime you need me, I'm on.
Speaker 2 (25:33):
For sure.
Speaker 3 (25:35):
All right, Bro, thank you a live Mark.
Speaker 6 (25:37):
We appreciate appreciate it.
Speaker 4 (25:39):
Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox. I know we
got more callers, Chris who want to chime in on you.
Speaker 6 (25:46):
We'll get to those.
Speaker 4 (25:48):
That's nice of Mark Willard to call because, uh yeah,
we're both broken with Mark.
Speaker 6 (25:52):
When we first got the Fox, I think I did
a show with him on Saturday, and you did one
with on Sunday, all right.
Speaker 1 (25:57):
Yep, And we worked with Brian Noah as well. That
was my first show here at Fox Sports Radio was
with Brian no Oh.
Speaker 6 (26:05):
So you did Brian know first on Sunday?
Speaker 3 (26:07):
Ye, I did him. It was Saturdays.
Speaker 1 (26:10):
Oh, Saturdayaturdays, and then I did start doing it with
Mark Willard.
Speaker 3 (26:14):
I don't remember if that was a Saturday or a Sunday.
Speaker 4 (26:17):
I think it was Sunday because I was Saturday, okay,
and you were with Brian No too, thought I was
with Willard first and then Brian though.
Speaker 3 (26:24):
Okay, so we may have switched. Yeah, we may have
just guys switched.
Speaker 1 (26:28):
But yes, it is a good day man to reminisce
and about some of our great fun times we had together.
Speaker 3 (26:37):
You mentioned it.
Speaker 1 (26:40):
Just I mean when we were in studio together. Shows
a little different now, but we're in studio together. It
was really you're really able to do.
Speaker 5 (26:49):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (26:49):
That's when we had some of our really funny things
that we did. Singing the Jeffersons together and you're throwing
money up and you're making it rain, and.
Speaker 3 (26:59):
You know, I kept about fifty dollars.
Speaker 4 (27:01):
I've watched the video tape of slipping dollars into your pocket.
But I will say this too. And and the odd couple.
You know, we talked about the chemistry that Chris and
I both have, but but the supporting cast. I don't
think people really understand when you do a show how important,
like Alex with the drops him knowing this show, Mary
(27:24):
learning her way around our show now and others how
important rob G is. Rob G really has Chris, he has,
He has a button for both of us. He just
knows what we like right and what moves us and
what we're more passionate about. And he's real good at that.
(27:46):
If something, if luke warm on something, he'll just want
to move on and not do it. And I think
that's why the show resonates.
Speaker 1 (27:54):
Yep, no no doubt about it. And and we you know,
we're not the only show, but every show doesn't do it.
We got everybody involved, you know, we we rob G
is a regular part of the show. People know him
on the air, DJ Alex ty Shirt, even Mary Mary,
they're jealous of her introduction.
Speaker 4 (28:15):
To all the other people in this at the sports
radio because she has an awesome an opening and.
Speaker 6 (28:23):
Everybody loves it. And Elijah does the social media stuff
for us. He's great.
Speaker 4 (28:28):
And we've had these lunches and we have these Christmas
get togethers and it really is a team. And Chris
and I can't take full responsibility for the show.
Speaker 6 (28:38):
We just can't.
Speaker 3 (28:39):
It's just a lie, all right. If you want to
weigh in?
Speaker 1 (28:42):

Speaker 3 (29:24):
Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox.
Speaker 1 (29:26):
I announced earlier in the show I will be leaving
The Odd Couple in two weeks. So we're taking calls
today from all our listeners who have been so great
for the show the past six years.
Speaker 3 (29:40):
We love all of y'all, so we're letting you share
your thoughts today eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox.
I know we have someone on the line, Rob. Right now,
we got a mystery.
Speaker 6 (29:50):
Caller from mister Chris Brussard. Mystery caller, who are you?
Speaker 5 (29:55):
Well?
Speaker 7 (29:55):
You don't look to wish you guys at happy Heavy
Metal Monday over here.
Speaker 3 (30:00):
Huh, thank you, this is perfect.
Speaker 7 (30:02):
I could a better day to pop on and wish
you the best going forward here Chris Bruce, Yes, the
Metal Monday, That man's Chris. But I know you're off
to bigger and better things with TV and that's awesome,
So thank you.
Speaker 3 (30:20):
Brian.
Speaker 9 (30:20):
Man.
Speaker 1 (30:21):
Look, you were my first radio partner here on Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 9 (30:27):
Man.
Speaker 3 (30:27):
We used to do Saturday shows together. It was terrific.
Speaker 1 (30:30):
I still remember the first time we met, right, Remember
we read at that restaurant.
Speaker 3 (30:36):
Near the beach. I don't know where it was in
Santa Monic or wherever it was, but we met and
then we started doing the show.
Speaker 2 (30:42):
Man.
Speaker 3 (30:42):
That's right. Process.
Speaker 7 (30:44):
Scott Shapiro was like, I think you guys should meet.
So we met, grabbed breakfast. I don't know where we
were breakfast, and we had vertical French toast, the first
time in my life French toast went toward the sky.
But Rob, I know the real reason why Chris is
leaving the radio show.
Speaker 6 (31:00):
Oh go ahead, it's gonna have something to do with me.
Speaker 3 (31:02):
I guess right, this is this is the real reason.
Check this out, man, I got money Galore. That's why
I do not remember saying that in the Wonders of AI.
I can't believe that. What was that money galore? That's
it I'm talking about.
Speaker 10 (31:22):
I remember, I remember James my character something galore, but
it wasn't money. I bet that I was saying. I'm
just guessing I was saying that in reference to a player.
He was probably speaking in his voice.
Speaker 7 (31:38):
Right, I talking about Patrick Mahomes and leaving some money
on the tape, maybe, but I like to think of
it as you leaving for the TV money. But Chris,
I do, man, I wish you the best. I do
appreciate after we did our shows together and you moved
on to the Odd Couple. I do appreciate the two
fill in shows I got to do with you over
(32:00):
six year period.
Speaker 1 (32:02):
You know, if you break it down, Pray Year knocked
it out of the park, though, Brian.
Speaker 3 (32:06):
I appreciate it.
Speaker 7 (32:06):
That's maybe like a fill in segment per year, Chris.
So I appreciate look it Out, Look it Out, But no,
I know you're gonna kill it and I wish you
the best, man for sure.
Speaker 3 (32:16):
Always thank you, Man. I appreciate you calling in too.
That's the great.
Speaker 1 (32:22):
Yes, yes, we both worked with him, but it was
I mean, look, this is obviously the pinnacle the I couple,
but we we both had great times working with Brian
no and Mark Willard. Oh yeah, those were some fantastic times.
So it's just Fox Sports Radio. We got the great
line up here. And even when I was out, You've
had people fill in you were out, I had people
(32:45):
fill in Martin Wis's VJ Husky from.
Speaker 3 (32:47):
Salam Sean King, so many, just so many time people.
Speaker 4 (32:51):
Here, no doubt, And we're fortunate, Chris to honestly, and
we're not just brown nosing or whatever. We were got
a great place with a lot of good people, a
lot of guys who do good shows on the network
along with us, Chris.
Speaker 6 (33:07):
And that's the part.
Speaker 4 (33:09):
Radio is different television television, and because it's so many
hours and there's a lot of you know, it's unscripted,
and you gotta be on your p's and q's, and
it's just it's a different medium. And I'm not saying
you're reading a teleprompt on television, but you know what
I mean, it's just a little different and you have
more time to flush things out.
Speaker 3 (33:29):
So we were able to do that.
Speaker 4 (33:30):
We were able to do that and have fun with
the show. Chris and I we had a real plan,
fun and informative. We said to ourselves, Chris and you
could back me up. We're not gonna talk about the
same four or five topics every day and do some
different stuff, and we're gonna get callers involved, listeners involved.
Speaker 6 (33:48):
That's what we said.
Speaker 3 (33:49):
Yeah, and that is one of the differences of TV nowadays.
Speaker 1 (33:53):
You know, a lot of times you do hit similar topics,
but radio we've hit all types of things. And as
you said, we're one of the few national shows that
has had you know, regularly has callers. Most don't, not
all necessarily, but most don't. And we're one of the
(34:14):
few that's done that. And that's that's really that has
enhanced the show. There's no question about it, no question
about it.
Speaker 6 (34:21):
We want to hear from them.
Speaker 1 (34:22):
We do, yep, absolutely, and uh so we'll take more
calls next hour as we kind of wrap up this.
Speaker 4 (34:31):
So, Chris, did your wife do a happy dance? Is
she doing happy? She's gonna have He's excited because.
Speaker 1 (34:38):
We I mean, that's the thing like I work, you know,
I do the TV show in New York and she'll
be able to come in and you know, we can
hang out, have dinner, go to the shows, Broadway shows.
Speaker 3 (34:50):
I wouldn't.
Speaker 1 (34:50):
I ain't grow up in the Broadway shows. But she,
you know, she's from New York City, so she got
me into those and I enjoyed. So we'll be able
to check out some of those.
Speaker 3 (34:59):
I'll be going the more Nixon Nets games too, you know.
So all right, we got an hour left. Y'all know
what to do. Lock it a couple
