Speaker 2 (00:22):
You're listening to the Best of the Odd Couple with
Chris Bruson and Ron Parker.
Speaker 3 (00:30):
As I said earlier, Devonce Adams receiver for the Las
Vegas Raiders, really was great with the Packers now then't
really have anybody to throw him the ball. He had
some high praise for Lamar Jackson, the great Lamar Jackson,
two time MVP.
Speaker 4 (00:51):
Here's what he.
Speaker 5 (00:51):
Said, Area that I really wanted to focus on and
pushing and make better. And I was literally you finding
myself watching Lamar Jackson highlights, like in my locker before
the games, like, dude, change the game. He's the best,
in my opinion, best ball carrier ever. You know, no
matter what position you want to talk about, I don't
(01:13):
think anybody's as big as a threat to carrying the football.
Speaker 4 (01:18):
Chris, this is the year we live in.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
Anything that happened yesterday is bigger and better than anything
that's ever happened. I love Lamar, you know I do.
I do the best ball carrier ever. Come on, stop it.
That's lop. It's just ridiculous. I mean, it's been some
great Jim Brown, Chris, Marry Sanders, EMMITTT. Smith, I mean,
(01:40):
can we I mean Walter Payton, my gun, the great
running backs? Come on, man, I mean you can.
Speaker 3 (01:47):
Go how many deep dozens? I mean and nothing? And
you know I love Lamar too.
Speaker 4 (01:52):
He runner. He is the best running quarterback ever.
Speaker 3 (01:57):
To say he's the greatest ball carrier is lunacy.
Speaker 1 (02:02):
It's just lunasy. This this is what we talk about
all the time.
Speaker 4 (02:07):
Chris. It's just like.
Speaker 1 (02:10):
I don't even get it, Like is it just because
and and and I'm I'm not buying into this. Well,
they didn't see Jim Brown.
Speaker 4 (02:22):
Stop. We talk about it all the time, Chris. Did
we see Babe Ruth?
Speaker 3 (02:26):
Right?
Speaker 4 (02:27):
Stop? Obviously you don't even have to go back to
Jim Brown. I'm just say this. I'm just saying, you
know what I mean, you don't have to do your research.
Speaker 3 (02:35):
But it's just disrespectful to the running backs. Now, Labar again,
greatest running quarterback ever, one of the most dangerous weapons
during the regular season, for sure that we've ever seen.
But put him at tailback full time. I don't think
this would be the case. I'm sorry, I don't think
(02:57):
this would be the case. He's not the better run
it in Derrick Henry, his teammate.
Speaker 4 (03:04):
You can't. It's just so.
Speaker 3 (03:07):
It's like taking a cornerback who return is great at
returning kick or interceptions for touchdowns and saying he could
he's probably the best best pass catcher ever. It just
and and with all due respect for Deviante, I don't
know him at all, but it seems like a great
(03:28):
guy and I respect him for just being professional there
in Vegas and all that, this makes him look bad.
I don't know who would sign off on this, rob
Who else would say this? I mean, I wouldn't have
thought anybody would say it, but but this just makes
you look bad.
Speaker 4 (03:47):
What was this on a podcast? Rob G? What was
this on this was news? Comp? Wow? Did you hear
the next question after that?
Speaker 1 (03:56):
You know, I'm always just curious, Chris that being set
in the room and then nobody flinched thought thought, oh,
that's interesting.
Speaker 3 (04:04):
Yeah, I mean wow, right at the very wait, what
what did you so Lamar Jackson is a better ball
card than Eric Dickerson, Harry Sanders.
Speaker 4 (04:13):
That's what I would have asked Walter Payton.
Speaker 3 (04:16):
I mean, but we can just and again you can
just talk about some of the guys today. It just
it's bizarre. I mean, it has been some crazy takes.
You know what people talk about the the.
Speaker 4 (04:33):
Reporter with the pushback, you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
I mean we've heard that Joe Burt. These are from players.
These are guys who isn't that good? Lamar Jackson is
the best runner ever, and I mean I love him,
I love all the all these guys are find you know,
we know James James, great guy, love a ton, He's
(05:00):
he can have his opinion and this we love this.
Speaker 4 (05:05):
My man, Greg Jenny's on this week with us. On
first thing.
Speaker 1 (05:08):
You know we've Daniel Jones, top ten QUARTERBA What do
we do? We jumped on him, Chris, he's our friend.
We're like, no, no, Greg, no, what do y'all doing?
You play with Aaron Rodgers and you're looking at that
guy saying he's the top ten quarterback. Everybody Daniel Jones,
Aaron Rodgers must say.
Speaker 3 (05:28):
Right right right, No, But and Rob, And I'm not
saying this is the case with any of these guys,
but Rob, we've talked about it before you and I, like,
I've talked to several NBA players when I was covering
the league and stuff about and a lot of they
did not follow. Not all because something like Lebron's a
student of the game. They're a lot that are actual
(05:49):
students of the game.
Speaker 4 (05:50):
You know, we talked about it.
Speaker 3 (05:51):
There's also a fair number that didn't watch games like
those of us who weren't those great athletes did right
like they they were out playing, you know, and all that,
and they don't. Some of them don't know the history
of the game the way sports writers do. And these
(06:15):
are some, I mean, this is a clear example of that.
I were gonna open this up to callers, I will
be shocked if any caller is not as dumbfounded as
we are by this.
Speaker 6 (06:32):
Now.
Speaker 1 (06:33):
I love to hear that as well, because it's some
of the takes are just so off the wall and
just I don't know if they thought out you could say, Chris,
he's one of the most dynamic runners that we've seen
or whatever.
Speaker 4 (06:48):
There's a lot of ways you could talk about his
ability and what he does, and I have nothing but
respect for it. Now, you know what I mean, his ability.
But really, rob Gee.
Speaker 3 (06:59):
You're in this this new generation where you know, whatever
happened yesterday is the greatest. You know, screw the nineties,
You're into all that.
Speaker 4 (07:08):
So what do you think it is?
Speaker 7 (07:10):
Well, yeah, before we get to the Davante, I know
we can take calls on it just to illustrate your point,
because you guys are saying a lot of these guys
who are what they saw last is the best thing
they've ever seen, and YadA, YadA, YadA. I don't know
if you guys saw it this week because it's the
football season and we're dominated by the NFL. Trey Young
was asked the name is all time starting five on
(07:31):
a podcast this week. He chose himself as the point guard,
which say, what you want, that's fine whatever. It's his team,
Kobe kd Lebron Shack. His sixth man was Michael Jordan.
Oh god, he.
Speaker 4 (07:45):
Would have been better off leaving Jordan off and we would.
Speaker 3 (07:49):
Have been like, you know, look, I honestly, I mean
him being on there is ridiculous.
Speaker 4 (07:53):
But hey, if he you know, that's him as his team, fine.
Speaker 3 (07:57):
The other guys, I would have just been like, Okay,
this is who he's seen. But to throw Jordan on
there to acknowledge you every single one of those.
Speaker 4 (08:06):
Dudes, what that? Come on?
Speaker 3 (08:11):
I mean again, I could live with that team and
just be like, Okay, that's his era.
Speaker 4 (08:16):
But come on, man.
Speaker 7 (08:18):
And that's the thing that's interesting because Davante Adams, going
back to this original conversation, we've heard it. He doesn't
talk a lot, but when he does, he's always very insightful.
He's very in tune with what's going on, either with
himself or the team that he's playing for. And this
goes back for years. This is not a new thing
with Davante. That's why when he does speak, people listen,
because he rarely speaks well.
Speaker 3 (08:39):
It would have been nice, like Rob always says, to
get some have him expound shut.
Speaker 7 (08:45):
And so for him to say this knowing because he
is a student of the game. And just as you
guys mentioned, if you're even just County current players, not
even talking historically, as great as Lamar Jackson is, you know,
he's one hundred and ninety pounds.
Speaker 4 (09:01):
And you mentioned Derek Kenby. What Derek Henry's done in
his career, right, is that nothing? He's done? Nothing to
Lamar do?
Speaker 3 (09:10):
Could Lamar do what Josh Jacobs says? I mean he
going through the holes every game like that. You gave
the twenty care he's a game. How long does he
last in the season?
Speaker 4 (09:21):
No?
Speaker 7 (09:21):
No, And we like Lamar and it's just right we
not even now.
Speaker 3 (09:24):
Some of Lamar's my biggest supporters in the you know,
as far as pubbing him in his game and all that.
Speaker 4 (09:30):
But come on, come on, Davante, You're better than that.
Speaker 2 (09:34):

Speaker 8 (09:48):
And you may know me for the world of football
or fighting or even shows like HBO's Bawlers. Well you
don't know is for my entire life. I have lived
in something I refer to as the Great Depression. So
now I'm coming out with a new podcast, Unbreakable, a
mental health podcast with Jay Glazer where each week, well
we talk.
Speaker 4 (10:07):
About mental health. I hope to describe it, give it words.
Speaker 8 (10:10):
Listen to Unbreakable with Jay Glazer on the iHeartRadio app,
Apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.
Speaker 4 (10:20):
Rob G.
Speaker 3 (10:21):
Explain it. So there was a great article. I didn't
get to read the whole thing, but great article that
ESPN did on Robert Kraft, the owner of the New
England Patriots, and his quest to get into the Hall
of Fame.
Speaker 4 (10:35):
He ain't getting anything younger.
Speaker 1 (10:37):
I'm sure he's not feeling I mean, he's he's got
the eighty three I'm guessing is that the age?
Speaker 4 (10:44):
Rob G.
Speaker 7 (10:44):
He's right around there.
Speaker 4 (10:45):
He's abound eighty three. Chris.
Speaker 1 (10:47):
It ain't like do you want to have your day
in Canton when you're alive or after?
Speaker 2 (10:52):
It's all?
Speaker 4 (10:52):
He actually is eighty three, right, is he?
Speaker 1 (10:55):
I just guess, Chris, I'm taking he's about eighty three.
Speaker 4 (10:58):
Jerry Jones is already oh yeah, yeah, and been I
mean he's been in yeah yeah.
Speaker 7 (11:05):
So speaking to Jerry Jones right in the ESPN article.
They do one of these every couple of months where
they do a really long form piece on whatever topic
it is, and this week they did one on Robert Kraft.
And his ongoing quest to get into the Profooball Hall
of Fame. One of the things mentioned in the article Rob,
as you mentioned, is Jerry Jones got in. He's been
(11:26):
in now for years. And Robert Kraft, in the article
is Quota, is being miffed that, like, how is he
in it? And I'm not when I've had so much
more success than he has? Why am I not in it?
When so and so is already in it? And according
to the article that he has people on his staff
send out dossiers to voters every couple of months saying, Hey,
(11:46):
don't forget Robert Craft has done X, Y and Z
as the owner of the Patriots.
Speaker 4 (11:51):
Well.
Speaker 7 (11:52):
In this article they most of it's profilely in a
positive way. Hey, this is his quest to become inducted
at over in canon. In the article, though, they quote
one anonymous voter who was trying to explain why this
has not happened even though he has tried very hard
and very clearly to get in. The voter said quote,
(12:14):
some voters believe he was part of the biggest cheating
scandal in NFL history. That alone is a very tough
one to overcome. A clear reference to spygate and his
role whether.
Speaker 3 (12:30):
They're talking about but they think spy his role in
the whole instance. Okay, go ahead, Rob, that makes sense
in that there's no other reason not to have him in.
Speaker 4 (12:48):
You you have Jerry Jones in, and I get it.
Speaker 3 (12:50):
Jerry's made a lot of money for the league and
the Cowboys and it. But there is no reason, no
football reason to have Jerry Jones the Hall.
Speaker 4 (13:00):
Of Fame and not Robert Craft. So what else could
it be?
Speaker 7 (13:05):
Rob?
Speaker 4 (13:05):
G Are there what.
Speaker 3 (13:06):
Other owners are in the Hall of Fame? You know,
like current owners? You may not know the owners. I
think it's just Jerry Jones, which is interesting, you know,
But anyway, I just don't. I don't know what else
it could be other than that. Do you can you
think of where we go? I have I have the updated.
Speaker 7 (13:26):
List, Okay, since two thousand five owners have been enshrined.
Dan Rooney of the Steelers, which I believe he's passed on,
right since then, Ralph Wilson of the Bills. I don't
believe he's still alive. Eddie d Partolo of the forty
nine ers.
Speaker 4 (13:41):
Right when they won those Super Bowls, he was the.
Speaker 7 (13:43):
Owner, right, Jerry Jones and Pat Bowlan, who I believe
recently sold the team right to a new group.
Speaker 3 (13:51):
I mean, come on, like, well, but Jerry Jones, if
they want to keep him out because of the cheating,
that's fine. But I'm just saying that's that can be
the only reason, Roy, Can you think of an reason?
Speaker 4 (14:00):
No, no, no, it has to be that.
Speaker 1 (14:02):
And and it's because obviously an owner that won six
Super Bowl Jerry had a dynasty in Dallas, and I
get all that, but here's my only thing.
Speaker 4 (14:13):
If it's Robert.
Speaker 1 (14:14):
Kraft, then you should hold Tom Brady and Bill Belichick
to the same standard that none of them should get
in Chris, if you're going to do that to Robert Craft,
it makes no sense to me that Tom Brady, who
benefited and Bill Belichick, who benefited from as well, should
also face the same raft.
Speaker 4 (14:35):
I mean, I doesn't. It doesn't make sense, right.
Speaker 1 (14:38):
I'm one that, yeah, if you're doing that to Robert Craft.
Speaker 3 (14:43):
Right, and I'm one that thinks Belichick and Brady should
be in the Hall of Fame.
Speaker 4 (14:47):
But you're absolutely right, like that makes no sense.
Speaker 1 (14:50):
It makes no sense, It makes no owner.
Speaker 4 (14:53):
How could it just right? There's no to be honest rap.
I mean mean.
Speaker 3 (15:02):
I believe I don't know for I believe Belichick was
the architect of Spygate. I don't think it was Robert Craft.
I mean he obviously was. I mean did he even
sign I mean, I don't know, but I mean he
didn't even sign off on it, you know what I mean,
(15:23):
Like they might have just done it without his knowledge.
And I'm not saying that should exempt him. I'm just
saying to your point there is it just makes absolutely
zero sense that you would punish Craft like this and
not do it to Belichick and Brady.
Speaker 4 (15:42):
There's just no way you can do it. It makes
no sense. I mean, you have to punish them all.
Speaker 3 (15:51):
Yes, if you're gonna do it and rob that ultimately
could get Craft in because I definitely don't think they
want to.
Speaker 4 (15:58):
Keep Brady and Brady mainly.
Speaker 3 (16:00):
But also Belichick out of the Hall of Fame. There
no way I see them keeping Brady out. Brady's now
broadcasting games, you know what I mean, He's gonna be
also then he's in the league.
Speaker 4 (16:15):
Now for a long time just as a broadcast.
Speaker 1 (16:17):
You didn't they just change the rules to Chris so
that Belichick can get in next year and really, yeah,
didn't they that quick?
Speaker 4 (16:26):
Yep?
Speaker 7 (16:27):
So they say it was for him specifically, but it
allows him, it allows him to get he wants to
coach too.
Speaker 4 (16:34):
Oh yeah, no he doesn't. He wants to get the
all time winning record. I mean, right right.
Speaker 3 (16:40):
There, I mean, do you see what I'm saying, Rob,
Like they you know, they want Brady in and probably
Belichick too.
Speaker 4 (16:48):
This could ultimately get Robert Craft.
Speaker 3 (16:50):
And if somebody just points out, like this is ridiculous,
we look, we look crazy.
Speaker 1 (16:54):
But I'm telling you for them not to have done
this Chris at for a guy who's eighty three years old.
And I'm not pushing in the l will on, you
know what I'm just saying, at that age, there's a
chance if he's going to get in, that he might
get in and not be there. And yeah, and can't
know while now, who wants that? Who wants to Chris?
(17:17):
I mean maybe you want to see that yourself, right.
Speaker 3 (17:20):
But if some of these guys are really really upsetting
by guys, I mean owners, if some of them were
really really upset about it, Rob, And who knows how
long he'll live hopefully you know, he still lives a
long much longer, but.
Speaker 4 (17:35):
Maybe maybe they would want to do it, you know.
Speaker 3 (17:38):
When Brady shortly after Brady and Belichick, and maybe he's
not able to you know what I mean, enjoy it
because yeah, I mean, and they see that as punished.
But my thing is and and and the question to
me is, if they're doing this to Robert Kraft, shouldn't
(17:59):
they do it to Brady?
Speaker 4 (18:00):
And that that you just can't.
Speaker 1 (18:03):
You can't celeberate the three did the Three Musketeers?
Speaker 2 (18:07):
Chris?
Speaker 1 (18:07):
How are you going to separate until the owner? He
can't be involved?
Speaker 4 (18:12):
Right, It's just they just can't do it. It doesn't
it's hypocritical. Yeah, there's no way you could do it.
Speaker 2 (18:19):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Chris Brussard and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm Eastern,

Speaker 1 (18:45):
It's gonna be a blood bath because I already know
a stack.
Speaker 4 (18:48):

Speaker 3 (18:51):
The home field advantage, So you're gonna be holding up

Soup?
Speaker 6 (20:12):
Oh what are your hands? What are your hands doing?
That looks like a bowl.
Speaker 4 (20:19):
So you're gonna be cheap? No, No, Chris, I was
scratching my the back of my hand.
Speaker 6 (20:24):
That's what you were doing.
Speaker 1 (20:25):
I was scratching the back of my hand. So look,
it looks like it's a form of a bull. Looks
like it's really just scratching. Scratching that Gucci jackets kind.
Speaker 4 (20:37):
All right? Level number two, Over to Chris Chris.
Speaker 7 (20:39):
The Miami Dolphins were heavily featured in the nineteen nineties
comedy Classic Blank Ventura Pet Detective, starring Jim Carrey.
Speaker 4 (20:50):
M Oh, look you're ready, Rob, you just went.
Speaker 6 (20:54):
It's Chris's turn. Yeah, I'm gonna be what you got?
What you got.
Speaker 4 (21:00):

Speaker 6 (21:04):
Oh that's clever? Aces? Huh yeah, clue.
Speaker 4 (21:09):
Nobody knows any visual, any visual.
Speaker 6 (21:13):
I haven't aces hardware about my house.
Speaker 4 (21:15):
You don't see what Rob a lenient.
Speaker 1 (21:21):
He's a player's commissioner because it worked out. You sound
like somebody else.
Speaker 4 (21:29):
On number three, Back.
Speaker 7 (21:32):
To Rob Parker the AFC East edition of tych Just
Tyler Trivia Rob. This year, Dolphins wide receiver Tyrek Blank
was voted as the best player in the league by
his peers. You know, the league shut out Greg Jennings.
I missed Greg Jennings.
Speaker 6 (21:45):
Greg Jenny, Greg, you know, the only reason he's on
TV is because of that video. Right, I'm gonna tell
Greg that one day. Yeah, he knows, that knows that
he literally was on George Lopez because of that video.
That's what started his TV career.
Speaker 4 (22:00):
All right, there we go.
Speaker 6 (22:01):
I know, ce B, I'm giving you the dirt, the deep.
Speaker 4 (22:04):
Try to come back back. Don't don't overthink it. All right,
here we go. Okay, hold on, hold on, that's the clue.
Speaker 6 (22:10):
Wasn't talking to Alan Alex Remember when we walked up
remember that building spot laft.
Speaker 1 (22:21):
I thought I hit the button. I was talking to
Steve the same and I didn't hit the button. Steve,
That's all good because smiles. He just takes anything. This
guy is such a live I told Steve Stebe, you
know what, I might run for president that I'm not
voting for you, not voting.
Speaker 4 (22:38):
All right, here we go, Jammel.
Speaker 6 (22:45):
Oh the personality hill. Right there we go. That's right.
I didn't have to think too hard. That was too easy.
Speaker 7 (22:53):
Level number four the AFC East edition Tyser Taber tribute
Back to Chris.
Speaker 4 (22:57):
Chris, even though he was the.
Speaker 7 (22:59):
Better guy in camp and in the preseason for whatever reason,
the Patriots left rookie Drake Blank as their QB two.
Speaker 4 (23:09):
This one sounds familiar.
Speaker 7 (23:10):
It's very similar to last week.
Speaker 4 (23:14):
In that case, a rule.
Speaker 6 (23:19):
May this.
Speaker 4 (23:22):
Is like that wasn't say last week?
Speaker 1 (23:27):
You know what when you he just cheating and Rob
allowed him? You said it sounded familiar. He this commissioner
this side.
Speaker 4 (23:38):
Here's the problem. We've done like one hundred and fifty
of these.
Speaker 7 (23:41):
You know how many different clues I can come up
with if you want to wreck the clues?
Speaker 4 (23:45):
Rob, I'm all here, I'm a writer. This is ridiculous.
You're gonna keep this the most.
Speaker 2 (23:54):
All right?
Speaker 6 (23:55):
I can paid the big bucks for this, don't you.
Speaker 7 (23:56):
Know He's gonna envoice donn and I'm ready to it
