Speaker 2 (00:22):
You're listening to the best of the Ood Couple with
Chris Bruce and Ron Harker.
Speaker 1 (00:30):
Let's start here, and I'm calling them your Detroit Tigers
because you're.
Speaker 3 (00:33):
A Tigers fan. That's why I got this hat on.
You're a Detroit Tigers fan.
Speaker 1 (00:37):
And they went to Houston and they swept this series,
the best of three, all three games the new format
with the wild Carter all in Houston, no Detroit games,
three straight days, and they come back. They were down
two to one and they win it five to two.
Now we're gonna give the Tigers love and they move on.
They're gonna take on the Guardians, rite a team in
(00:58):
their own Central Division.
Speaker 3 (01:01):
That's gonna be interesting. But here the big story, No,
it's not.
Speaker 4 (01:08):
Couldn't expect because the Astros have won two World save
you know, Jaskame kind of Cinderella field to it. Uh so,
I'm gonna revel in that I got the hat on
right now to two thousand, it's the two thousand logo
right now. You know about it, you were there, but
you're right, there's a there's a larger story for the country.
Detroit is excited about it right now, but there's a
larger story.
Speaker 3 (01:27):
And that's the Astros.
Speaker 1 (01:28):
And you know, they became villains when it was exposed
that they cheated.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
They had the banging the trash cans.
Speaker 1 (01:35):
You remember that the Dodgers felt they got cheated that
year out of the World Series.
Speaker 3 (01:39):
The Yankees felt that they got cheated.
Speaker 1 (01:41):
Out of the Alcs because they lost in seven games,
and they lost Game seven there if you remember, al
To hit a home run like he knew what was coming.
Speaker 3 (01:49):
And then after you find out what was going on,
no wonder.
Speaker 4 (01:52):
They were looking like what was that game show movie
back in the day that had the cheating thing.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
Yeah, they were out there acting like that. Man.
Speaker 4 (01:57):
They had the buzzers allegedly buzzers and looking like bucket boys.
You ever been to a city walking out of city
downtown anywhere? They got the boy put playing on the
little buckets. They got the drums going on the buckle
and that's what they're doing, hitting on the trash cans
and all that.
Speaker 1 (02:10):
And now this is the official len okay, like like
Bregman is gonna be a free agent. You can see
like things are about to come undone run. It is
officially over. Like they got swept at home to the
upstar Tigers like that, were happy just to make it
in and all that, and people thought the Astros that
(02:31):
won the Division, oh, here we go, they're gonna make
another run. They're gonna get to the World Series. You
know what, you can't count the Astros out. You know
how good they are on the postseason. So this is
officially it. But I still have to ask, and I
wonder when you think of the Astros and what they
did the two World Series, not a one we know
is tainted, but they came back to win the second one,
(02:52):
which which people said that validated them, that said that
they were a good team even without the cheating apparatuses.
Speaker 3 (03:01):
So would you.
Speaker 1 (03:02):
Say this is a good run or would just say
good riddance to the Astros.
Speaker 4 (03:08):
This was a good run. It was absolutely a good run.
And I'll tell you why. Look right now, we're gonna
call them. We're in Los Angeles. You know, I work
with sports and LA out here, the Dodgers networking, and
I'm around the team and I'm around the fans, and
so they called them the Houston what Trashtros? Right, everybody,
you know what they said to me. Everybody knows I'm
(03:30):
a Detroit got Detroit Tigers. You know, everybody's saying that
work with the kIPS, saying, man, I hope the Tigers
get it done, beat the Astros, but.
Speaker 3 (03:36):
Remember the Astros.
Speaker 1 (03:37):
I'm just gonna say this, Yes, seven straight seasons in
the AFCs, absolutely, seven straight two World Series appearances, right,
I mean four World Series appearances, and they won two
Worlds of All Stars name a bunch of success, without
a doubt. So here's why I absolutely don't think I
think it's been a great run. Because what we've learned
about history is as time fades away, we start to
(03:59):
forget stuff, we start to forget details. And yes, the
Dodgers and Dodger fans will remember the Houston trashows because
it's first forget that because they feel like the job
and the Yankees and maybe super duper super duper baseball fans.
But the average fan, the casual fan, the fan who
just you know, I keep up with my team and
I watch a bit, They won't remember the exact details.
(04:22):
They won't even remember the year that the Trash Cans
and the and the Bucket Boys was on seventeen.
Speaker 3 (04:26):
I know, but I'm saying they won't remember.
Speaker 4 (04:28):
And I think what you're gonna find is you're gonna
look back and you're gonna hey, remember when those San
Francisco Giants had a run.
Speaker 3 (04:34):
They won a few Tworld Series titles and they look good. Yeah?
Speaker 4 (04:37):
Remember that. Remember when the Houston Astros won and had
a nice run. Yeah, remember when the when the Yankees
had that run in the nineties. Like, I think they'll
get put in a group of teams that had a
really good to great run, bunch of all stars, a
couple of World Series titles, and I think people will
actually start to forget, not to mention. Look, there are
(04:57):
controversial dynasties we've had. I compare it to the New
England Patriots, right, they had to flight Gate, they had Spygate.
Speaker 3 (05:06):
They have picka Gate that.
Speaker 4 (05:07):
A whole bunch of gates that had Aaron Hernandez killing
people Gate, And the fact of the matter is, we
still go back to what's been the best team in
the NFL for the last twenty twenty five years through
Ingham Patriots. And when you start talking about the goat
or the loat as you want to call Tom Brady,
you don't define every single moment. You just say he's
got seven rings. They've won all these titles. The Patriots
were the standard for two plus decades, and I think
(05:29):
the Astros they're.
Speaker 3 (05:30):
Gonna get put in that category. You remember, hey, remember
that great.
Speaker 4 (05:32):
Run, and you'll, yes, you'll nitpick at times and remember it,
but you did whatever you had to do to win.
And now history will go and we'll start to forget
the exact details of wins in the house and you
just think of they had to run and they solidified
the last point with that win with Dusty Baker and
them and getting it done without the knowing out the
BS to kind of rub it in everybody's face and
(05:54):
say trash cans, no trash cans. We gotta done what
you gotta say. Now, nobody forgets a cheater. Nobody forgets
a cheater. People will always remember cheaters. And that's why
even the Patriots don't get.
Speaker 1 (06:09):
All the love that they should from you what they
do well because I'm not gonna let it go.
Speaker 3 (06:13):
That's it, all right.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
But they also won those first three when it was
about field goals and Adam venit Terry where it wasn't
as questionable as the second run. And I think that's
why people look at the first run Tom Brady wasn't
Tom Brady yet, so the first Super Bowl Tom Brady,
that first Super Bowl run, Tom Brady had one touchdown
in the entire bout of season, so they look at that,
they look at him verit Terry, one of the greatest kickers.
Speaker 3 (06:36):
Bill Belichick's defense.
Speaker 1 (06:37):
What they were able to do when they won those
first three, the Astros because of how they won that
World Series, and again it was the Yankees lost all
the games there in Houston.
Speaker 3 (06:50):
Houston.
Speaker 1 (06:51):
The Dodgers lost a pivotal game where Kershaw was unhittable
in LA and got lit up in Houston.
Speaker 3 (07:00):
The idea that uh Ol two ve hits, that walk off.
Speaker 1 (07:04):
Home run against Chapman is one of one of the
best closers at that time, and then refusal to allow
his teammates to rip off his jersey.
Speaker 3 (07:13):
Because he's they feel like he's got.
Speaker 1 (07:15):
Something behind talking about his wife, doesn't want people to
see his body. Come on, dude, ain't nobody thinking like that.
When you do that, you gotta walk off home run
to win.
Speaker 4 (07:25):
We pour gatorade on, rip the shirt the shirt, bart wheels, whatever.
Speaker 3 (07:29):
So I'm in the good riddance that they have become.
You know what, Alex are.
Speaker 1 (07:33):
They become the wicked witch of baseball, and everybody was
happy that they're done.
Speaker 3 (07:40):
I know we can move on from the from the Astro.
Speaker 4 (07:43):
I don't disagree that as of current state, people are
like good, good writtens on the Astros. I'm not arguing that,
but I'm saying, if I'm the Astros and you know
where to assess and say, man, was it worth it?
Or do I think they do it all over again?
You tell me I think you want to. I got
a bunch of like I said, made a bunch of
all stars, big time names, and we've got a couple
(08:05):
of titles we solidified with that second one. We can
rub it up people's faces and be like, now what
you gotta say? I think they would deem it's worth
it and not quiet as kep. I think some other
teams were kind of happy they were the ones that
got caught because they might be looking around like, oh
kill our operations.
Speaker 3 (08:19):
Well, but but if you get caught, then you get caught.
And I hear you.
Speaker 1 (08:22):
I'm not saying that they're the only ones who've ever cheated,
but I'm saying they got caught big time. Or aj Hinch,
who's not a Tiger manager got fired. The general manager
got fired he knew something. Carlos beltraanding with the brains
behind the whole thing.
Speaker 3 (08:36):
Remember he had gotten the Mets manager job.
Speaker 1 (08:38):
They fired him like it affected a lot of pid
and in soil baseball for a minute, to think that
you would take cheating.
Speaker 3 (08:46):
Everybody's trying to get an advantage. Look at the catcher ship.
Speaker 1 (08:48):
If if he doesn't cover up the signs with his glove,
that's fair game if you're gonna be relaxed with it
and I can see your sign. But the trash cans
and all the stuff they did was incredible, and I
think that's why most people are happy.
Speaker 3 (09:04):
That is good rittens to the Astros.
Speaker 4 (09:06):
I absolutely believe currently what is today October second, twenty
twenty four, most people are like, yes, get the Houston
trash ros out of here.

Speaker 4 (09:26):
I've been in Aaron Rodgers borderline apologist for years and
I sat here and shout out to my man Bucky
Brooks too. He would always argue me about this, and
I've realized.
Speaker 1 (09:35):
Look, yeah, Bucky Brooks, who told that Aaron Rodgers was
finished before he won his last two MVPs.
Speaker 4 (09:41):
Buck No, Because Buddy Brooks, Aaron Baron Rodgers becomes the
guy howne you win to MVP because he's That's the point, Rob,
He's that talented that at some point can the talent Matt,
can you get to a a championship? Can you win
another Super Bowl? You're too talented to only have one?
You're too talented.
Speaker 1 (10:01):
How many times did Tom Brady play in a playoff
game where his team gave.
Speaker 3 (10:04):
Up over forty points? I don't know.
Speaker 1 (10:07):
I think one time and it happened to Aaron Rodgers.
So I'm trying to say to you. Get what trying
to say to you. There's a couple of things going on.
I'm not saying he's perfect. It's hard to get back
to the super Bowl. Ask Damn Marino, who was one
of the all time great quarterbacks. Yes, okay, he went
to the super Bowl his second year. He never went bad.
(10:27):
He is, he never went bad.
Speaker 4 (10:29):
And what I'm trying to say, Aaron Rodgers is in
a division where a year after year after year he
was getting these cracks. Look, nobody's not questioning his ability.
No one's questioned that he was had a great career,
and you would absolutely take him if there were a lottery.
Speaker 1 (10:43):
You remember the game against Seattle would add on side
kick and the tight end fumbled the ball and Seattle
got it back. I'm just trying to you don't remember
that because here's because if the on side kick is
field that he goes to the super Bowl.
Speaker 4 (10:59):
But here's that game. You what you're missing. The talented
quarterbacks have found the way. The great, the great, the
great we just.
Speaker 1 (11:07):
Talked about outside of when his last year, you know
how paid Manning got a second Super Bowl?
Speaker 4 (11:14):
That last one. Yeah, when he got there. He got
there with the Colts, he won one. He got there again,
he lost to the Saints. He got to the there
a couple of time with the Broncos. All we're saying is, dang,
Aaron Rodgers, at least get there. That's all we're saying.
Because it's a compliment to him about because we're saying
he's that talented.
Speaker 3 (11:32):
Philip River is good.
Speaker 1 (11:33):
But you also have to look at and you got
it if you're gonna do a deep dive.
Speaker 3 (11:37):
And I'm just trying to give you, like be realistic
about it.
Speaker 1 (11:40):
And I'm not saying he shouldn't have gone again, but
some of those games. I get three games in the
playoffs that ended with Aaron Rodgers didn't even.
Speaker 4 (11:48):
Touch the Barack do you have? That's when he's down
in the fourth quarter. It's staggering. Like I'm not even
trying to yell it. Aaron Rodgers stats down in the
fourth quarter. It is mind boggling. It's almost like a
Lamar Jackson against NFC teams where you're like, wait, a manute,
how is he?
Speaker 3 (12:05):
What is he now?
Speaker 4 (12:05):
Twenty one and one against NFC, Like that doesn't even
make sense. Aaron Rodgers went down in the fourth quarter,
he never comes back, and it doesn't make sense. He's
so talented, you, oh my got Aaron Rodgers only down
seven or ten points in fourth, Absolutely we got a shot.
This is Aaron Rodgers. Aaron Rodgers went down like seven
or ten points. He never comes back. Matthew Stafford comes
(12:27):
back all the time. We already know what Patrick Mahomes does.
You see what Lamar Jackson. It's taggering to me that
he's that good, that talented. We all agree, and all
we're saying is man, the math doesn't math when we
need we need to rely on him. We need to
depend on him. We need to look at him and say, hey, man,
here's the mall. Just don't win it for it.
Speaker 1 (12:46):
Doesn't you need the defense not to get have to
give up forty seven points when you need to.
Speaker 3 (12:51):
I've watched every single game in his gad. I'm shock
you're arguing for this. Yeah, because I think that it's
just the take you have. No, No, it's not a take.
It's it's it's easy and it's lazy. No, it's not
laz't a lone.
Speaker 1 (13:05):
I'm giving I'm giving you, I'm giving you, I'm giving
you game.
Speaker 4 (13:09):
You're complaining about a team giving you the ball three times.
Rod Parker, now my defensive three interceptions. I'm giving you
three extra recessions to go do something with it.
Speaker 1 (13:19):
No, because I can give you the same thing if
you look at the situations where Tom Brady was involved,
where he got the ball back against the Raiders in
that game, he got that ball back when he won
the Super Bowl against the Panthers, the kicker kicked the
ball out of bounds, which put it on the forty
yard line.
Speaker 4 (13:36):
You know, on and on and bring it up with
singular plays, Rob, keep doing it, Rob Parker. I know
what you preach to your mentor, I mean mentees. I
know what you preached his kids at USC. What you
are not preaching them is a bunch of excuses. And
that's what you're giving out right now, a whole bunch
of excuses, giving you facts about he's too good to
(13:58):
not have one enough, that's all.
Speaker 3 (13:59):
And it's a cop him people.
Speaker 1 (14:00):
But zam Marino was considered some people said he's the
best best quarterback they've ever seen, and he never went back.
Speaker 3 (14:06):
To the Super Bowl. Why is that? Why? How is that?
How did that happen? Okay, so you bring the.
Speaker 4 (14:13):
Literal anomaly, you breathes a Hall of Fame quarterback course
all right, how many super Bowl did he go to?
Brees Aaron Rodgers, I'm asking you see a Hall of
Fame quarterback that's so No, yes, it's your name.
Speaker 3 (14:23):
It the Hall of Fame quarterbow. This he is shouldn't be.
How many super Bowl did I go to? Won on me?
I could go on.
Speaker 4 (14:29):
And on argument. No, absolutely not. Aaron Rodgers is the
only four quarterback home in the one super Bowl before
back of our homes. We've said he's the most talented
quarterback we've ever seen, and he's only been the one
I ain't did nothing in a long time.
Speaker 3 (14:44):
That's all we're arguing about that, all right.
Speaker 2 (14:46):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in

Speaker 4 (15:00):
The crowd is.
Speaker 3 (15:02):
Even number. Figure it out, that's right.
Speaker 5 (15:08):
The debut of One's Got to Go. This is the
Rob Parker edition. We're doing another one later on in the.
Speaker 3 (15:13):
Hour for this one just for you.
Speaker 5 (15:14):
Riding bombarded us at the top of the show with jingles.
So now we got four of them right here in
the system. We're gonna play them all segments of them, yes,
afterwards where we discussed it. One of them is gonna
be deleted permanently.
Speaker 1 (15:28):
I don't know how you can these are all mastermind
will decide the master piece, will will decide.
Speaker 3 (15:35):
I'm a writer and I'm a singer. You didn't even
know that. Yeah, sports writers to it.
Speaker 5 (15:40):
The first one, the longest one. We're gonna cut it short.
But Rob's owed to the great country of Canada in
all of fust Come.
Speaker 4 (15:59):
Man, you know you sound like Chris Rock. Oh man,
if you and Chris Rock did a duet like that,
would you know what?
Speaker 3 (16:07):
Hey?
Speaker 1 (16:08):
You know this being from the Detroit area, you know,
with Canada so close, we heard the national anthem from Canada.
Speaker 3 (16:15):
That's true.
Speaker 4 (16:16):
We used to be there drinking gamblebee at nineteen, so
everybody used to go there.
Speaker 3 (16:20):
That's true. I'll give you that, all right. Number two.
Speaker 5 (16:22):
Rob Parker has been around the world so many times
he made music about it.
Speaker 3 (16:25):
Take a listen this guy Dubai. I don't know why
you went to Dubai. All right, numbers you got goosebumps
(16:49):
from here on that song that's called in the Room.
Speaker 5 (16:51):
This one's rich because Rob doesn't even like the guy.
This song's about This is a little bit of Wemby, can't.
Speaker 1 (16:57):
We Everyone knows it's whim. I was trying to tell
Chris like he's going to be the rookie of the year.
Speaker 3 (17:05):
Waiting out on your time.
Speaker 1 (17:07):
Everyone knows the twim.
Speaker 3 (17:11):
Okay, all right, that might be the leading candidate.
Speaker 5 (17:14):
Last, but not least. This has been the longest in
the system, so I'd be kind of heartbroken if it
went away. Twitter didn't even exist anymore. It's probably catch
to this song.
Speaker 6 (17:23):
It's my Twitter, and I'll block it by walk to
block it by walk to block it by walk to
you want to block to if they tried to you?
Speaker 3 (17:36):
What more do you want to read? I don't want
no more.
Speaker 4 (17:40):
So all right here if we're going around the room voting,
and by the way, you can get it on this
hit us up at Rob Parker, MLB bro hit me
up KATEB Live, odd couple FSR.
Speaker 3 (17:50):
Hit us up there.
Speaker 4 (17:51):
We'll reby read some of the best sweets throughout the
show a little bit. All right, you want to who
wants to start me? Fine, I'll start glad you can start.
Block party is what I'm gonna call it. That one
stays I'm not so clo like that one. I actually can't.
I can't hate on that gives me a chance to
do Mutumble and the Great Mutumble.
Speaker 3 (18:09):
I like that Dubai. I was thinking about saying.
Speaker 4 (18:12):
Everyone, I don't know that I might have to say
Dubai bye to Dubai. Here's why win Me is worse.
But he's gonna be here like twenty more years, so
I figured we might as well have that so we
can work it in throughout twenty years of the NBA season.
So Dubai Dubai to Dubai, I'm saying bye.
Speaker 3 (18:32):
That's just your boy, Alex, Alex, where are you? Alex
is the one who plays most of them. That's a
good point.
Speaker 7 (18:38):
So I'll say this, rob I am somebody who takes
a lot of pride and effort at making the show
sound great, and the audio quality is so bad in
Dubai Dubai.
Speaker 3 (18:48):
Not wait to say goodbye to the Dubai.
Speaker 1 (18:51):
All right too, But you're holding on to old Canada though,
Lay Canada.
Speaker 3 (18:57):
Friends of North.
Speaker 4 (18:58):
Does rob have a vote in this? No, I don't
know absolutely, so it's clearly Dubai. But Robby either way,
what do you say.
Speaker 5 (19:04):
I'll tell you what I'm getting rid of Canada, Okay,
because for one, nobody on this show is Canadian. And
if we're gonna do any non national anthem that's from America,
it gotta be from Mexico. Rap. You gotta represent the
loan minority on this show. That hey, I mean, Brian
(19:28):
is we gotta keep the Twitter.
Speaker 3 (19:30):
Obviously I'm cool with that.
Speaker 8 (19:32):
But with Dubai, I feel like Rob your voice cracked
a little bit, like like if your voice before puberty,
I think you can hit some of those notes. What
no voice drops since? So basically that was Bobby Brady.
Is that what you're saying?
Speaker 3 (19:45):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (19:47):
And last point, as we get ready to break here,
you gotta get something more current, bro, I'm gonna help you,
help me, Let me help this is let me help.
You know, at least the nineties come on, so I'm
not saying two thousand. Just give me something from the
eighties and nineties.
Speaker 3 (20:02):
What were the doors? Was that? The Monkeys?
Speaker 4 (20:05):
No, no Rolling Stone, the Beatles, the Beatles?
Speaker 3 (20:09):
I know that. My point is my gosh, you gotta
get me something else.
