just throwing it out there.

Can we get you know, you can get a singing
the Jeffersons and just whatever.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
I don't even know what all our hits couple is
large down low?
Speaker 5 (02:12):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (02:13):
They to your knees. Yeah, that one too. I shouldn't
be any of of the those like that. Yeah, yeah,
but you know what I mean. I like to hear that, Rob,
that would be good.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
Yeah. I'm sure we're working on something. Oh wow, I'm
just saying, mister Chris.
Speaker 4 (02:32):
I mean, I can't wait till my size ten Borton's
come in the mail.
Speaker 3 (02:36):
You go, size ten? Is that what it is? Bons?
I think it's ten and a half. It might be
twelve exactly.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
So, Uh, it's a trash talking Tuesday, your last trash
talking Tuesday as well. Wow, and who you trash. I'm
gonna trash Jim Harball. But we'll talk about that.
Speaker 3 (02:58):
Whoa you got a w Yeah, that's nice.
Speaker 1 (03:02):
Justin Herbert, then you should get Minshew instead of Justin Herbert,
Like what are you wasting Justin Herbert for like the
hand the ball off?
Speaker 3 (03:12):
I don't get that. I'm sorry and not initiate. They
have receivers I don't in the past. They Laila, Mike
Williams and Keenan Allen Gard. We'll get that later.
Speaker 4 (03:23):
That's definitely that's gonna yes. So uh they couple of
crew super producer Robb G's in the house on The
Ones and Twos, our man Elijah, I'm sorry, I'm on
the social media our man Elijah sab Alex he's already
mailed in.
Speaker 3 (03:40):
I guess so.
Speaker 6 (03:42):
On The Ones and Twos, the Great Alex Tyser dj
Alex Siser aka Alex Malex.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
He almost called you Nick right because of the hair.
Speaker 3 (03:53):
Nick Wright has gone like to a total makeover.
Speaker 4 (03:57):
That hair is just when he first got on the
he was wearing the kind of the like a little
fade or something. He had a fade going. I like
this hair better than that. His hair like crazy, looked
better than that fade he had or whatever. And on
the updates, our man Isaac Loewen Crown.
Speaker 3 (04:16):
All right, Rob, let's get to it.
Speaker 4 (04:17):
We were on the air when this game started last night,
the New York Jets. You heard Isaac say that it
was what he said, the second most watched game on
Monday night football in quite some time. And the Jets,
of course went down thirty two to nineteen in San
(04:39):
Francisco to the forty nine Ers. No surprise that they lost.
It would have been a surprise actually had they won.
Wasn't a close game. And Aaron Rodgers was okay, he
wasn't didn't look special. He was fine, first starting a
year and a half. We'll get to him later. But Rob,
what were your what was kind of your biggest takeaway
(05:03):
from what we saw last night from the Jets.
Speaker 1 (05:05):
That everybody ballyhooed about how great their defense is and
they were a note show yesterday Chris Brussard eight straight
scoring drives that ain't no top ten defense, top five defense,
and they got run through like a hot knife through
butter Like, what did they do that was supposed to
(05:26):
be their saving grace? Is the defense? What was that
other game last year? Black Friday? You know, every Friday's
Black Friday for US, Chris. But Black Friday they got
nawed up two last year Miami.
Speaker 3 (05:41):
Miami were the thirteen exactly similar score.
Speaker 4 (05:43):
Yes, and they've had some games as good as their
defense was.
Speaker 3 (05:49):
I mean you mentioned it.
Speaker 4 (05:50):
Thirty four to Miami, thirty two to Buffalo, thirty to Dallas.
Some of that was defense scoring. They gave up thirty
seven to Cleveland, which was no offensive. You know, Juggernaut
thirty to Miami in the second game they played against him.
So maybe it's that they were really good against I.
Speaker 3 (06:13):
Can't even say that.
Speaker 4 (06:14):
Well, let me let me give you this stat they
shud they beat Philly in in Houston.
Speaker 1 (06:18):
And held them and Buffalo, remember to whatever was in
their first game. But last year the Jets gave up
twenty seven points Chris seven times, the second worst defense
in the league.
Speaker 3 (06:28):
Right in that.
Speaker 1 (06:29):
Regard, Yeah, at Arizona, I'm just saying Arizona was the
worst defense. Arizona gave up twenty six point eight per game.
But the Jets did is seven times. They gave up
twenty seven and obviously they had those average games, right, right,
because the other games last year, the Jets gave up
four hundred yards five times the worst defense Washington gave
(06:51):
up an average of three hundred and eighty nine Chris
per game, and then obviously we said.
Speaker 3 (06:55):
Five out of Yeah, that's not their average.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
And statistically the Jet that's where either like one of
the best or worst on a week to week basis,
and they're not always that consistent. I just think like
the one part that was supposed to be there and
I'm not Chris, I'm with you. They were four and
a half point underdogs and and you know that would
have been a big win. Aaron Rodgers hadn't played over
(07:20):
a year and all the other stuff that had gone
on like that would have been a huge statement win
if they would have won that game.
Speaker 3 (07:28):
But the defense was was woefully disappointing.
Speaker 1 (07:34):
It just was really eh, straight possessions, Chris, that's that's bad.
Speaker 4 (07:41):
Yeah, the defense was or no show. I mean, if
you want to look at the glass half full, you
can say, well, they held into a lot of field goals.
Speaker 3 (07:51):
I think they had six field goals.
Speaker 4 (07:53):
But that was supposed to be the strength of this
team and it and I still think you can see
also robbed. One of the winners yesterday was a Sign Reddick,
who's holding out for a new contract with the Jets,
and the Jets I don't think they'll pay him this week.
I think they'll, you know, see how things go in
(08:13):
their next few games. But what I will say about
the Jets rob and hersign Reddick is that they're in
win now mode. They gobvious right like this year, and
you neither your nor I think they're gonna win the
super Bowl even in the next two years.
Speaker 3 (08:29):
But for them, it's we're going for the super Bowl
this year.
Speaker 4 (08:33):
We're going for the super Bowl next year, assuming Aaron
Rodgers is here. And so if that's the case, and
you really need to look at it like this year,
because like I said, we'll get into Aaron Rodgers, but
he didn't look phenomenal, all right, and so you have
to go for it this year. And if that means
paying her sign Reddick, then pay him, but get him
(08:54):
on the field.
Speaker 3 (08:55):
It doesn't make any sense, Like, no, you can't. What
are you saving for?
Speaker 5 (08:58):
Right?
Speaker 3 (08:58):
It's not a five plan.
Speaker 1 (09:00):
Is just outrageous to even be playing this game, because
you need to be oh and three to decide that
you're gonna pay, right, is that.
Speaker 3 (09:07):
What you need to start the season?
Speaker 4 (09:09):
Oh and three because if they if this is not
a good season by and by that I mean like
they don't make the playoffs, then Salah Joe Douglas, the
whole regime is probably gone, is probably gone. And so
they need to do everything they can to make the
(09:31):
playoffs and you know, have the best season they can.
But you're right, defensively they didn't show up, and Rob,
here's how bad it was. Defensively, Christian McCaffrey didn't even
play right. So Jordan Mason, who was an undrafted running back,
now that doesn't mean he can't run the ball. Isaiah
(09:53):
Pacheco was the seventh round draft pick. We've seen undrafted
running backs, you know, and even players in funeral you know,
have some success in the league.
Speaker 3 (10:02):
So he obviously can run the football.
Speaker 4 (10:05):
Last night he had twenty eight carris for one hundred
and forty seven yards. But again, that came without Christian McCaffrey,
who was regarded by most as the best running back
in the league. And they still had their way, right,
they still had their way. Now the Jets, Rob, they
they got Tennessee next week.
Speaker 3 (10:25):
That's a game. If they don't.
Speaker 4 (10:29):
Beat Tennessee, then it's time to really might be time
to hit the panic button.
Speaker 3 (10:36):
No, I agree.
Speaker 1 (10:37):
I mean if that that is, I don't know what
the spread that We don't know what the spread is
for that game yet, Rob g we do.
Speaker 3 (10:42):
But if that's not that should be in the books
booket Chris.
Speaker 4 (10:48):
The good news for them, Rob, they got Tennessee, then
New England. Now Tennessee of course is Sunday on short rest,
but then they get New England on Thursday, so their
next two games will be short rest. That's challenging. However,
(11:08):
they're not very good teams, and then you got Denver
and Minnesota. So Rob, if they're what people a lot
of especially people in New York have expected them to be,
and I expect them to win the division. That's that
was my pick. We'll see if they do. But if
they're what people think they are thought they were, then
(11:29):
they should be four and.
Speaker 1 (11:30):
One Jets three and a half. Chris in that game
against the time, so you know, three points is usually
you know what.
Speaker 3 (11:38):
And it's at Tennessee.
Speaker 1 (11:39):
Ye'll get three at home at home usually really a
six point game, six and a half three and a half.
Speaker 4 (11:48):
So yeah, I mean, but you're right, the defense was
not what it was expected to be. And Robert Sala,
who I look, I I do think is a good
certainly a good defensive coach.
Speaker 3 (12:00):
I don't think he's.
Speaker 4 (12:00):
Really had a chance to prove whether or not he's
a good coach overall because he's had such abysmal quarterback play.
Speaker 3 (12:08):
Right, Like he's won.
Speaker 4 (12:10):
I give him credit for winning seven games each of
the last two years with Zach Wilson, Mike White, Joe Flacco.
Now Flacco redeemed himself last year in Cleveland, but still
Flaco is not you know, anything the right home about
at this point. And you know he was able to
win some games last year. You mentioned beat Buffalo, they
beat Philly, they beat Houston. But now, nope, that's not
(12:32):
gonna save your job. Now is the time for you
to get it done. Your guys are healthy, and so
everybody's looking at Sala and his job is.
Speaker 3 (12:43):
Literally on the line.
Speaker 5 (12:44):
Right.
Speaker 1 (12:44):
Oh, there's no doubt, Like Sala is on life support.
He just is like he's Okay, here's your defense. You're
a defensive coach, and now you got your quarterback, and
here's where people want to see what you can put together.
Speaker 3 (12:59):
We get it.
Speaker 1 (13:00):
No one's saying that they should have won in San Francisco,
or say to Clara wherever it is, Chris, you no
wady's saying that. But for the defense to be a
no show was a little support for me. That's all
all right?
Speaker 4 (13:12):
Eight seven, seven ninety nine, Or Fox are Should Jets
fans be panicking? Is as simple as that, Should Jets
fans be panicking?
Speaker 3 (13:23):

Speaker 3 (14:56):
Your thoughts? All right?
Speaker 1 (14:58):
Chris, let's kick it off with the Paul in North Carolina.
You're on the Odd Couple Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Paul?
Speaker 3 (15:04):
How are you hey?
Speaker 8 (15:06):
What's going on?
Speaker 5 (15:07):
Tell us?
Speaker 8 (15:07):
And uh I. I've had the privilege of being on
with you guys several times, and this is my last
time with you. Chris Man. I appreciate you guys so much.
And Chris I know and you and Rob you know,
you guys promote and push the advancement of black journalists
and I totally support that. But as a forty four
year old white dude, man, you guys are so much
beyond that, and I so appreciate what you guys do.
(15:28):
So thank you to you guys, and best of luck
to you Chris and your feature and your future endeavors
with that. That's one man, very.
Speaker 3 (15:37):
Much than real talk. Thanks a lot, We appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (15:39):
And hopefully you'll give you a new show, the New
Odd Couple. Right listen, starting on.
Speaker 8 (15:45):
Money a man. Absolutely, I you guys are progating on
our radio, and no matter who it is, and you always, guys,
bring your great perspective. But listen, the New York Jets
motto should be so proud of so little, and this
is exactly like. It's not that the Jets fans should
be panicked, it's that they should accept reality. And all
(16:08):
of their eggs are in the basket of a forty
year old quarterback coming up in an achilles injury. And
if it wasn't for Tom Brady, this wouldn't even be
a consideration. Tom Brady is a goot for a reason,
and like the Jets full are going to continue to
mire a mediocrity. If you watch what Aaron Rodgers did
last night, he was completely He doesn't have the movement
(16:30):
that he used to have of course, like pre injury,
and and what you saw, I think, like last night
is what you're going to get. And this is going
to be They have too much talent on the team
to be terrible. I'm not saying they're going to be terrible,
but they're going to be fighting for a playoff spot.
And after this year, Sala is gone and the organization
is going to be blown up and we're gonna start over,
and you know, put your hands up in the a
(16:51):
and be like, what the hell was the last two
years of Dan Rodgers experiment was a complete failure.
Speaker 4 (16:56):
Well, it's certainly possible. I mean, you say yesterday, Rob.
Speaker 3 (17:01):
That sounds a little doomy and gloomy to me.
Speaker 4 (17:04):
Yeah, I mean, look I got him winning the division.
Speaker 3 (17:06):
We'll see if it.
Speaker 4 (17:07):
Happens only one day going into yesterday, none of us
knew or know what Rogers is gonna be like.
Speaker 3 (17:14):
It's been not even him. You will have to see,
we have to see.
Speaker 1 (17:17):
I mean it's it's just not fair to make a
one game evaluation. I just thought the only thing that
bothered me was this defense. Chris was just was a
no show.
Speaker 4 (17:27):
That's all Well, And I think people also do have
to keep in mind they were facing the defending NFC champions,
but the field goal away from winning the Super Bowl,
and so they in San Francisco.
Speaker 3 (17:43):
It's a tough chore for the Jets. No, Gary and Jacksonville.
You're on the couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up Gary?
Speaker 5 (17:50):
Hey, guys, CB, best of lunch and you shoot your project.
Speaker 9 (17:53):
I know you're gonna miss Rob.
Speaker 4 (17:55):
Thank you, and I'm absolutely gonna miss him a little bit.
Speaker 9 (17:58):
Hey, Rob.
Speaker 2 (18:01):
Telling about that Jets defens unlike my Dolphins defense that
pitched their shutout in.
Speaker 5 (18:06):
The second right, they have to fight their gums when
it comes time to take care of business. There a
no show.
Speaker 3 (18:14):
No, they were a no show.
Speaker 4 (18:18):
Rob Well's that I have teased the Dolphins about being breakdancers,
and I will give them credit. They showed that they
at least in Game one against Jacksonville, that they were tougher,
tougher than they were last year.
Speaker 3 (18:34):
So I'll give them credit and we'll see what if
they can keep.
Speaker 1 (18:36):
It up and Chris Jets eighteen misstackles. I mean it
just it just was all over the place like nothing.
Speaker 3 (18:45):
And again I.
Speaker 4 (18:45):
Said yesterday before the game, like on paper, they look
good on every level of the defense, backfield, linebackers, front.
Speaker 1 (18:53):
And that's why we talk about all the time. That's
why you still got to play no matter what. You
know what I mean, stuff looks good and you think
they got everything, and then you don't know. Andre in Massachusetts,
you're in the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 5 (19:04):
What's up, Dreight, Hey, what's going on?
Speaker 9 (19:07):
Thanks for taking the call. Glad to be here for
the last week of this iteration of the odd couple.
We've already talked about it, bessus, Chris as you kind
of on and then this odd nothing stopping, this odd
couple train is going to keep on rolling down the tracks.
And I'm looking forward to continue excuse me continuing on's
we got to get the cops out of the way, not.
Speaker 5 (19:28):
To the Jets.
Speaker 8 (19:29):
Let's okay.
Speaker 9 (19:30):
The fact of the matter is this all credit to
the forty nine ers. They made a statement, they serve notice,
they're here to stay. They're competing for the championship. They
want to be seen as you know, the a very
good team and a contending team, which they are. And
credit to John Lynch for bringing back everybody you know
and having the roster intact for the Jets. I'm not
ready to hit the alarm button. But again this is
(19:52):
my thing, same thing with Deshaun Watson. You already had
a year. Last year was supposed to be the year
and it came all crashing down the first game nothing,
you know, all right, So it was a disaster, you know,
But we had a year. So you shouldn't be seeing
these hiccups, particularly on the defensive side of the ball
in year two, right, So Aaron Rodgers wasn't there, and
the offense they scored what scored touchdown in the first quarter.
(20:15):
Then the offense sputtered the rest of the game, never
got going. There's question marks there. But defensively, as you said, Rob,
just get run up and down. Yes, you forty nine
ers can just do what we want. And that's your
side of the ball. The ball, Salah and you guys
were all there last.
Speaker 3 (20:29):
Year with and without Christian McCaffrey. Like that's the other
part of it.
Speaker 1 (20:33):
Like their big workhorse, one of the best running backs,
if not the best.
Speaker 3 (20:37):
Drey he wasn't even there.
Speaker 9 (20:40):
And so they do need to get back on track
in week two. In the NFL, it gets late early,
and you lose those first two games, you put yourself
behind the eight ball and lookt at Aaron Rodgers. You're
not in the NFC anymore. This AfD, it's stacked and
everybody's not making the playoffs. So you can't just you know, lose.
You go one to three and then we're gonna catch
our spride. There's gonna be good teams that aren't gonna
(21:01):
make it in the AFC, and the Jets should be
ready be in the playoffs and being contingent.
Speaker 3 (21:05):
Well, Chris is taking a call, no doubt.
Speaker 1 (21:07):
Chris already talked about this schedule, this set up to
get off to a three and one star.
Speaker 3 (21:12):
Yeah, if they get it to that, right.
Speaker 1 (21:14):
Chris, Right, Like, at least if you get off to that,
then you got some fat to chew.
Speaker 3 (21:18):
One yep, yep, yep. So all right, e from Salims
around the corner.
Speaker 2 (21:22):
But first, Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk
lineup in the nation. Catch all of our shows at
Foxsports Radio Dot com and within the iHeartRadio app search
FSR to listen live all.
Speaker 4 (21:34):
Right, speaking of pros our next guest, former NFL offensive
lineman now Fox Sports Radio Weekend superstar, real all around
renaissance man, the great E from Salim E from what up?
Speaker 3 (21:49):
Brother?
Speaker 5 (21:50):
What's going on? Brothers?
Speaker 3 (21:51):
Are doing doing great? How are you?
Speaker 5 (21:54):
Oh? Excellent?
Speaker 3 (21:56):
We are good man, we are good. H We're better
than the Jets. Let's put it that way.
Speaker 4 (22:02):
So what you saw last night is the time for
Jets fans to hit panic motors.
Speaker 3 (22:07):
Just hey, we do one of eighteen there are right.
Speaker 5 (22:11):
No, I don't think they should hit I don't think
they should hit the panic button at all. I actually
I was. I was impressed, number one with the offensive line.
I know, they just put some pieces together and they
got some some veteran guys that brought in. But for
the most part, I mean, they just never possessed the ball.
(22:32):
I'm more concerned on the defense.
Speaker 3 (22:34):
Oh yeah, that's what we're really talking about. The defense.
Speaker 5 (22:37):
Yeah, I mean because Aaron Rodgers looks chriss. He made
some throws yesterday. Man, I was like, oh my goodness.
Speaker 4 (22:43):
Okay, So because I didn't think you look special, but
nothody was solid.
Speaker 5 (22:49):
He made some real nice throws, he had some good protection.
They really couldn't get the run game going or anything
because they just weren't on the field, like I mean,
Kansas City, I mean, excuse me two cut them out
of rhythm and like it was. Sometimes I was watching
(23:11):
the game, I was like, oh my god, I can't
even suggest that and even have the ball this whole quarter,
you know. So one of those situations with I don't
think they look they're not gonna play against the forty
nine ers every week, all right. Every team doesn't have
that defense or that offense. So I think they'll be fine.
It's a tough game out the gate, new pieces, Aaron
Rodgers coming in, It's a tough game to go on
(23:32):
the road and win, and so I think they'll be fine.
They got to hear some things up defensively though. They
really do.
Speaker 1 (23:38):
Let me Yeah, I mean the eighth straight scoring, Uh,
they scored on eight straight possessions of forty nine ers.
That's nothing you want to do when you have a
good defense, to have anything like that. But let me
ask you about Justin Fields is going to start again
for the Steelers. Russell Wilson banged up? Is it field
goal central? Is that is that all we can get
(23:58):
out of just Fields? Or did you see anything from
him that said he's going to take the job, or
because there's a great opportunity to take the job if
you played better, but I don't.
Speaker 5 (24:10):
Opportunity is there right now? And look, we we we
have these expectations for people who come into the league
because they're in the league. They're like, Okay, well they
have to be this, but at certain at a certain point,
you reach your limit, you reach your cap of who
you're going to be right now, justin Fields is trending
in that direction of who he's going to be right
(24:33):
different situation, different weapons, different this, different that. Like if
you can't turn the page, ala Geno Smith, it took
him a long time, Right, look at Baker Mayfield, he
sounded a home they love.
Speaker 3 (24:46):
Look at Baker with contract.
Speaker 5 (24:50):
Sam Darnold right like, you have to start, you know,
becoming who you want to be, not we think you
are based on your record, and this is a prime
This is a perfect opportunity and opportunity for him to
take the hold of this starting position and don't give
it up unless injury happens. So he has to come out,
(25:13):
he has to play better. He has to make throws
down to So I'll tell you what he's exciting. He
can extend plays. He's great on it seems more mobile than.
Speaker 3 (25:24):
Russell.
Speaker 5 (25:24):
Yeah, then Russell. But but he has to be able
to solidify himself as a starter. It should be no
questions even when Russ gets back healthy, it should be
no questions that he's going to be the starter. And
he has a great opportunity to do that.
Speaker 4 (25:41):
What do you think has happened to Deshaun Watson? And
what would you do if you're the Browns?
Speaker 5 (25:48):
Well, look, it's nothing they can do. They gonna pay him,
but he's not a good quarterback and he won't be
a good quarterback. We know what he is now, right,
So now you look at the great that the one
really great year he had when he led the league
in passing, and you can call that an outlier. You
can say, okay, that was an outlier.
Speaker 3 (26:05):
So I mean he had some other good years. I
get it that that was his best year.
Speaker 5 (26:09):
You have any great years, he had some because you
gotta remember he was a young player, so he had
years like oh, okay, he's trending in the right direction.
All the things are going on off the field, especially
the new allegations, like it's it's obviously it's too much
for him. He can't just focus on football. And you
can see that through his play. It was so hard
(26:31):
to watch. I mean, oh god, I was I'm just
so sorry. I'm like, as a former uh you know, player,
and and it just made me feel like, oh, this
is this is bad to watch. He was out of
the game, he was he was for two years. Then
he comes back, he gets heard. He looks like a
shell of the potential that he had. Now he just
(26:54):
looks like a bad quarterback.
Speaker 4 (26:56):
What do you think the players in the locker and
and this is a team I don't know, you know,
obviously got some friends on the team. But even if
a guy like that is likable and popular in the
locker room or whatever, at a certain point, our players
still just like, dude, I mean, I know you you
my boy, you might not be my boy whatever, but
this is ridiculous.
Speaker 5 (27:17):
Yeah, bro, the don't nobody care about that. They care
about the wins. They don't care how likable you are.
And are you making that much money guaranteed? Don't remember
nobody else in that locker room as a fully guaranteed contract, right,
Miles Garrett does it. None of those guys have fully
guaranteed contracts. So we can be buddy buddy and friends
and this and that. We're not here to be friends.
(27:40):
We're here to win the games. We're here to compete
and go to the championship. We're here for that. So
if you can't facilitate that, and you have the type
of price tag you have, oh that's that's a good
way to burn that whole locker room up. And you
had a press conference you have at the end where
it's just like it didn't seem like you were bothered.
You it was a sense of urgency or anything. You know,
(28:02):
it's the first game we're gonna be there. I'm like, nah, bro,
we need to First of all, I needed you to
be like, look, I can't play like this, I can't
do this all right, Like this is me, This is
on me, and I promise you I'll be better. Like
I need that from you. I don't need Weird's week one.
We got time now. I don't need all that, bro, No, no, no,
not with that price tag.
Speaker 1 (28:24):
No doubt let's talk about Jim Harbar and the Chargers.
We're gonna talk about this a little larger. Obviously, he
wants to run the football like you did at Michigan,
but you have Justin Herbert there do You got to
find a happy medium somewhere.
Speaker 3 (28:40):
Ephrom.
Speaker 5 (28:41):
I think you got to find a way to win,
because for about fifteen years, the Chargers have found every
way possible to lose. So I think you have to
find a way to win. And whether that's Justin Herbert
throwing the ball forty times or twenty times, if you
can get to w at the end of the day,
(29:01):
I think that's what's most important, especially for a new
regime coming in. We know Harball. Harball wants to run
the ball. He wants to control the time of possession,
he wants to control the down and distance. He just has.
He happens to have one of the top quarterbacks in
the league, and he's going to give him an opportunity
to get adjusted to the new system and not put
(29:22):
everything on his plate like, hey go win this force.
It's about defense and running the ball, and that's how
Harball has always been. So look, I'm not worried about it.
Justin Herbert can make every throw. He can do all
of those things. The fact that they can run the
ball like they've been able to run the ball and
control the game and get a w that's what's most
(29:43):
important for Chargers and Charger fans.
Speaker 3 (29:46):
Thoughts on Caleb's debut.
Speaker 4 (29:50):
I know it's early, it's one game. We definitely not
write him off. But you know, did you see some
things that might alarm you or not?
Speaker 5 (29:58):
I did, But I see it from all rookie quarterbacks
all coming into the league. What they realize is the
game is a lot faster, even in preseason. It's one
hundred times faster than in preseason. So when he's athletic
and he rolls out, he's used to turning and rolling
away from pressure and having some field to work with. Yeah,
(30:19):
that field is not there, right. And also when you
turn and you roll out, you're used to your receivers
being open wide downfield. It's not like that in the NFL.
Those guys are covered. The defensive end is not going
to let you roll and get away from him. So yet,
I was more concerned with the lack of aggression from
the offensive line in terms of keeping the pocket together.
(30:42):
But I've always said a young rookie quarterback's best friend
is a great defense. If you got a defense that
can keep you in the game while you trying to
figure it out, whether it's going to make life a
lot easier. Ask Russell Wilson as Tom Brady, ask these
guys how great it was to have a defense the
(31:04):
way they did as they were young players coming in
and trying to figure it out. It makes a huge difference,
a Dak Prescott, it makes a huge difference.
Speaker 3 (31:14):
All right.

right after we get off the airs. Time y'all for
Shekel City.
Speaker 2 (32:12):
Welcome to Shekel City, the whole base for Rob Parkers
Day Dicks against the Spread.
Speaker 1 (32:23):
All right, Chris, in trying to be transparent this year,
Shekel City now has what I did the night before
and my totals since we started the football season on Sunday.
So last night I was two and one and for
the first three nights that we started back, I guess
(32:45):
that's since here I'm six and three with Shekel City
against the spread. Okay, two and one last night, I
just got that Jets game wrong. But here we go tonight.
Best bet. I got the Braves minus one and a
half against the Nationals in DC, I'm taking the Twins
minus one and a half, Chris. They're hosting the Angels
(33:06):
and the Orioles need to win badly. I got Orioles
wanted plus one and a half in Boston taking on
the Red Sox, so the Oriols plus one and a half.
The Twins minus one and a half runs and the
Braves minus one and a half runs. And remember, I'm
not telling you who to bet on. I'm telling you
(33:26):
who I bet on. All right, there you have it.
Speaker 4 (33:29):
And Rob, Jordan Mason, we already talked about him terrific
last night, one hundred and forty seven yards rushing in
Christian McCaffrey's place. McCaffrey out with a calf strain. And
one thing this does, Rob, is it allows them to
sit McCaffrey for you know, a few more games and
(33:51):
make sure he gets fully healthy, because they didn't miss
him at all last night. But Jordan Mason after through
the game, suggested Rob that he was told Friday the
direct quote, maybe Friday night.
Speaker 3 (34:07):
Is when he would be starting.
Speaker 4 (34:10):
But the Niners had Christian McCaffrey listed as questionable all
last week and over the weekend, McCaffrey didn't say he
was or wasn't going to play, So it wasn't really
until right before the game that we found out I
think ninety minutes before the game. Yep, we found out
McCaffrey wasn't playing. So you think there might be some
(34:34):
funny business going on, well.
Speaker 3 (34:35):
I mean, you know, there's a lot at stake, Chris.
Speaker 1 (34:38):
That's why you have to If it didn't matter because
of gambling, then you wouldn't need an injury report, right,
just wait to see who's playing. What is the injury
report for, Chris? Who do you think the injury report
is for? You're right, it's for gambling. It's for gambling.
And that's why you have to be able to let
people because if the NFL, Chris, started where you didn't
(35:01):
know who was playing, people wouldn't bet their money. Okay,
I'm not If I don't know who's playing, right, you
wouldn't bet your money. I'm not gonna lay down five
thousand dollars and then I find out five minutes before
the game that Aaron Rodgers or whoever patrick playing. I mean, now,
you don't think that makes a big difference if you
put down.
Speaker 3 (35:20):
Money, no, I hear you.
Speaker 1 (35:22):
So that's why this can't go on, and there can't
be any funny business because you'll be messing with the money, Chris.
And once you mess with the money, there's gonna be
a problem.
Speaker 5 (35:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (35:34):
And obviously they had the injury reports reports before they
really got.
Speaker 3 (35:39):
In bed with you know, well, but it was illegal. Right.
It used to be people bet illegally right.
Speaker 4 (35:47):
But now Rob, now that you are in cahoots with
all these gambling companies.
Speaker 3 (35:53):
You're absolutely right, Like they have got to get this
right because.
Speaker 4 (35:58):
Now you're talking about money, and you're talking about hundreds
of thousands and sometimes millions of dollars that people have
on the line, and so they absolutely need to get
this right and the teams need to understand that and
there'd be no questions about who's playing or anything like
that if they can help themselves.
Speaker 1 (36:17):
Because once you do that, people can lose faith right
in the system, Chris and be like, Nah, I'm not
doing that.
Speaker 3 (36:26):
I'm not putting any money down.
Speaker 1 (36:27):
I put money down, and then the last minute, you know,
the start running back or the quarterback didn't play and
I'm out money. It makes a big difference with who's
playing and who's not playing if you're laying money down.
So that's got to be above board and it's got
(36:47):
to be right. And they might have to make an
example of the forty nine ers and you know what
I mean, Chris, to say you can't play with the
injury report.
Speaker 4 (36:57):
Do you think they I don't think they will. I
don't know that they'll be able to find. Like last
night after the game, Kyle Shanahan, the Niners coach, said
it was on and.
Speaker 3 (37:07):
Off throughout the week.
Speaker 4 (37:08):
He meaning McCaffrey was able to practice throughout the week,
just it was always bothering him to a degree. Sometimes
it goes away, sometimes it comes back. Today it was
bothering him a little too much where he didn't feel
good about it.
Speaker 3 (37:21):
Now there's some talk that Mason robbed.
Speaker 4 (37:24):
You know, people have assumed that Shanahan himself told Mason
on Friday that he would be starting. There's some speculation
that maybe the position coaches said it or and also
it looks like Mason said, rob g correct me if
I'm wrong. Maybe Friday night, So I you don't know,
(37:45):
like was he told, look see Mac might not be
able to go, so be ready, you know, And then
when he's interviewed, No, I know you're not accusing. I'm
just saying we don't know exactly what the situation is.
Speaker 3 (37:59):
And this is kind of whid rib.
Speaker 4 (38:01):
I think it'll be difficult for the NFL to prove,
you know that he was definitely talking about saying he
was told.
Speaker 3 (38:08):
If they interview people and.
Speaker 1 (38:11):
They feel like they'll be a misleading, and they just
want to make sure that you can't be misleading because
the games, the people that pay all that money, Chris,
those are the ones are gonna bellyate.
Speaker 3 (38:21):
Those of the stakes are higher. There's no insance but
about it. The stakes are higher, all right.
Speaker 4 (38:26):
Trash talking Tuesday, next hour, that's your time to shine,
plus a little.
Speaker 3 (38:30):
Rock party talk, keep it lot. A couple
