Speaker 3 (01:17):
What's up man?

Speaker 4 (01:18):
What's happening to mister Chris Boussard?

Speaker 3 (01:19):
How are you fantastic?

Speaker 2 (01:22):
Man?

Speaker 3 (01:22):
Fantastic? How was your holiday weekend? Uh?

Speaker 4 (01:25):
It was good.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
I was recuperating now a little down, a little under
the weather. So I was trying to stay in, Chris
and get some rare rest. You know me, I'm usually
always on the move. But the how is Easter? Did
you guys go to church and then have a family
dinner or was that good?

Speaker 3 (01:43):
I actually went to.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
Church over in your old stomping ground, Jamaica, queen make
a queen, my goodness.

Speaker 3 (01:49):
At the church I got married at.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
At the we called it the Triangle Church, Chris, the
Triangle you got married right there? That's literally three blocks
from my house. Wow, three blocks from my house.

Speaker 3 (02:01):
Yeah. Yeah, So we went there for Sunday service.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
It was great, in a full house, all of all
the sinners who hadn't been there all year.

Speaker 1 (02:11):
My mother in law goes there, that's her church, so
she did say it was way more.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
People than you you know that. So yeah, but it
was good. And then we did go out to eat
afterwards at Capitol Grill. That was delicious.

Speaker 4 (02:26):
It was good.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
And the bill Chris good, Yeah, the bill was but
that of course I got stuck with the bill. You
got the bill. But Chris, it's so good, am I right?

Speaker 5 (02:35):
Like?

Speaker 2 (02:35):
Seriously, Capitol Grill so good? And I do want to
send one other thing. Today, Chris, our buddy David Justice,
uh joined me at my basetball writing class at USC today.
He was great, stayed the whole class, talked to him
about building relationships between players and writers and whatnot. It

(02:55):
was really good. So good day, yep, good all right.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
But let's introduce the Odd Couple crew. The super producer
Rob g is out so in for him.

Speaker 3 (03:05):
Is Ryan Holiday today it is the company holiday. We
get com time for this. Oh I didn't know that. Yeah, yeah,
I'll take it.

Speaker 6 (03:13):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
And then also, of course you just heard Steve the
Seger who is on the updates USC. Chris is in
for DJ Alex Tyser. Wow, he got his own Superman music.
There you go, hero music. Yes, all right, it's just
the music.

Speaker 3 (03:31):
Oh, that's what that is.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (03:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
And for people don't know USC, Chris was one of
my former students at USC.

Speaker 3 (03:38):
And look at it. Look at the stardom that he has.

Speaker 1 (03:40):
Okay, yes, the social media our man Elijah Sepun all right, Rob, let's.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
Get to it.

Speaker 1 (03:48):
I believe tonight and it may be eclipsed within the week,
but tonight is the biggest night in the history three
of women's college basketball. You have two tremendous I mean
tremendous matchups, and all the eyes of Basketball America are

(04:14):
going to be on these games. Didn't last year's championship
game LSU Iowa draw like ten thousand fans or viewers roughly?
This is ten million, I'm sorry ten million. This is
expected to eclipse that. And that, of course is Caitlin
Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes the number one seed against LSU,

(04:36):
the defending champions and led by Angel Reese.

Speaker 3 (04:41):
Three seed.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
Yeah, it was able to be about they won by seventeen,
and so of course this year Iowa was the higher seed.

Speaker 3 (04:49):
They're the favorites.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
And then rob As if that's not enough, then the
nightcap you can obviously the traditional power led by Paige
Becker's one of the best players against USC against USC
and Juju Watkins, the best freshman in the country for sure.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
Who's already on pace for people don't know uh to
be the all time leading scorer. If christ she plays
her four years and you know, a hurt or anything,
She's already done more her rookie year than Caitlyn, which
is incredible when you think about that.

Speaker 1 (05:29):
So Rob, I, do you agree with me that this
is the biggest night in women's college basketball.

Speaker 4 (05:35):
Yes, because this is Caitlyn. She could punch your ticket
not only to.

Speaker 2 (05:38):
The championship right final four, but to uh to the
NBA too.

Speaker 4 (05:44):
Oh, I'm sorry, that's just go ahead.

Speaker 3 (05:47):
Let's have a serious ca Okay, No, I'm just kidding.

Speaker 4 (05:49):
All right, So let's no, it's thank you.

Speaker 3 (05:52):
No, it's a big night. I mean it's a big night. Uh.

Speaker 2 (05:56):
And and Caitlyn actually has to win.

Speaker 3 (05:59):
I think. But you're saying this is a must win
for her, must win.

Speaker 4 (06:03):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (06:04):
And I say it from the standpoint of because that will.

Speaker 4 (06:07):
Be the dart, the demerit, the.

Speaker 2 (06:10):
Thing that they'll hold against her like you would Great.
You put up all these numbers, couldn't win, couldn't win.
And I think that when you talk about all time
great and Chris, I bring it up all the time,
if you don't win, it's hard for somebody to call
you the all time the greatest of all time. It

(06:31):
just is I don't think it sounds right or feels
right if you haven't won something. And I think she
needs to win a national championship, I do.

Speaker 3 (06:45):
I totally disagree.

Speaker 1 (06:48):
Now you may I what is a good point is,
do you have to win something to be because we're
talking about her, we're talking about is she the greatest
college player ever? That's what you're talking about.

Speaker 2 (07:02):
Yeah, that's what I'm Cheryl Miller.

Speaker 1 (07:06):
She won a couple, right, And you say I would
think my mind.

Speaker 3 (07:09):
Goes to Cheryl Miller when I think of the greatest
eff I'm just.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
Saying, like, if the people wanted to make an argument
for her, Chris, it's almost impossible to make that argument
if you don't win.

Speaker 1 (07:20):
That's here's why I and these guys aren't considered ghosts
because I don't think she has to win. I think
talent wise, LSU, which obviously is the defending champion, they
have more.

Speaker 3 (07:34):
Talent team wide.

Speaker 1 (07:37):
Also, Rob, and one of the interesting things about Caitlin
Clark in this run is that she has been compared
two men, which we've never seen with college women's college basketball,
whether it's ice Cube one asking her or given offering
five million dollars for her.

Speaker 3 (07:57):
To play in the Big Three.

Speaker 1 (08:00):
You saying you think she could play in the NBA,
as ridiculous as it might be, you said it. You
you know you believe it, I guess. But also Rob,
when she broke the scoring record.

Speaker 2 (08:12):
People threw in, well, she's breaking pistol peach record for
all time leads scorer. We've never compared women's sports to
the men's records like that, so that's one of the
interesting things that she's being compared to men. But but
I think, but I think Chris also though, what woman
broke a man's broke the all time scoring record in

(08:32):
college that they would even compare. I'm sure there might
be other right about the assister, I don't know, but
the assist record, the rebound record, like I don't say
it's I don't I don't even understand why they did
that because I bet she's not the n ai A.

Speaker 3 (08:46):
Is she the n ai A scoring champion?

Speaker 2 (08:48):
Yeah, but they don't even count that. Remember they feel
college basket. No, I know, but they don't. You mean,
what about Division two? Division three?

Speaker 7 (08:55):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
I'm just saying, do you remember that guy from Detroit
who played six years was gonna break pistol peats.

Speaker 4 (09:01):
He came up short. Do you remember that?

Speaker 2 (09:03):
And they were they were debating whether or not that
they were even gonna count he played six years and
he wound up having a terrible night and falling short.
But people were saying he going to take that record
from Pistol Pete and he played for six years and
all the other stuff. I mean, I'm just saying there
was questions about it because of it. But I don't

(09:24):
remember of a woman ever having a all time record
and anything. And you know, I mean, I don't know
some of the crossovers sports tennis, some of the track
and field, like a number of records you brought like.
I mean, I'm sure there are some things that women
have in their sport, have won more than men or
accumulated more than men, but we've never compared it like that.

(09:48):
I make that point for this reason.

Speaker 1 (09:50):
Rob There are plenty of all time great not only
NBA players, but college players that played three and four
years that.

Speaker 3 (10:00):
Never won championships.

Speaker 1 (10:02):
Heck, Tim Duncan, Shaquille O'Neill, David Robinson, none of them
even reached the final four.

Speaker 2 (10:11):
Yeah, but it against them. No, I'm not holding again,
Larry Bird. No, no, no, no, we didn't win championship. I'm not
talking about that. I'm talking about I'm not talking about
just in general. But if you want to put her
up there and call her the greatest woman's college.

Speaker 3 (10:27):
Who's saying that. I'm just saying, if that's that's this must.

Speaker 2 (10:33):
If that's your argument for her, because she's the all
time leading scorer, that means nothing.

Speaker 3 (10:38):
Nobody thought Pistol Pete was the best. Gut.

Speaker 4 (10:40):
I'm just saying.

Speaker 2 (10:41):
And if she were to win this year, say that
she beats them, she wins. They're there the favorites, I know, but.

Speaker 3 (10:46):
Really gained something she will gain.

Speaker 2 (10:49):
And if they win a national championship coming off the
year she has, you can make a case for her.

Speaker 4 (10:54):
It's all I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (10:55):
Absolutely, That's all I'm saying, is I agree.

Speaker 1 (10:58):
If you're talking strictly go I'm not talking strictly though, Okay,
you mean, I'm talking about just with the hype that
she's gotten, you know, the publicity, the fans, the viewership again,
the comparisons to men, all of that, does she need
to win? And I would say no, because we've seen

(11:20):
men get that type of hype and they have it
won and no one telled it against them. That's my
That's why I say I'm not gonna hold her to
a higher standard than Tim Duncan.

Speaker 2 (11:32):
Yeah, but the difference between her and Tim Duncan is
where she is in her place in college basketball. Tim
Duncan was never in that space. And that's the difference.

Speaker 4 (11:43):
Chris.

Speaker 2 (11:44):
He was the number one picky buddy, but he wasn't where.

Speaker 3 (11:48):
It wasn't only people men that have there's only a
handful that have been like I know a herd. Bird
probably didn't get.

Speaker 2 (11:56):
Quite as nuha smaller at Indiana State. If he was
at Indiana, Chris, it probably would be different.

Speaker 3 (12:03):
And the other thing is Bird and.

Speaker 2 (12:05):
Magic and the greatest college basketball game ever and Bird loss.

Speaker 4 (12:09):
I get it.

Speaker 2 (12:10):
Magic and Greg Kelser they wanted for Michigan State, and
I don't think that people held it against because it
was a smaller school for Bird and he's the one
of them single hand put them. But as Caitlyn Clark
put them out there, it's very similar.

Speaker 1 (12:26):
Now, Angel Reach is not comparable as great as she
is to Magic Magic.

Speaker 4 (12:30):
No, no, no, it's not the same.

Speaker 1 (12:32):
The talent discrepancy between LSU roster I believe and iowas roster.
It is similar to Bird in that they've got one
transcendent star who's kind of carrying a team. And look,
I always had a pretty good program before Caitlyn Clark
got there.

Speaker 3 (12:50):
They weren't.

Speaker 1 (12:51):
They weren't like Indiana State or anything. They were they
were a good, really good program. But not a Yukon
or you know, Tennessee or LA. You were a Baylor
or something like that.

Speaker 3 (13:01):
And the number for that is still mind boggling, isn't it.
It is the whole different.

Speaker 2 (13:07):
It's a different I'm just saying. But the TV three channels, right,
and like one and three households had that game on.
I mean and back then when you said because it
was only three tries, it wasn't. It wasn't five hundred
channels with four hundred with nothing on them, which is
the worst.

Speaker 3 (13:25):
Right, all right?

Speaker 2 (13:27):
Uh, it's the Eye Couple Chris and Rob eight seven

Speaker 2 (15:16):
Your thoughts let's go to Lou and Allentown. You're on
the odd couple, Fox Sports Radio. Is this the billy
Allentown Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Speaker 8 (15:27):
Yeah, sir, the same is in this dumb song.

Speaker 3 (15:29):
I love that song. Oh I don't like the song.
You don't like Allentown?

Speaker 8 (15:33):
For you?

Speaker 9 (15:33):
You can have it, Chris, you don't.

Speaker 4 (15:35):
Like you like Allentown? Don't I like it?

Speaker 3 (15:37):
I was asking the listener. Yeah, okay, you don't wow,
go ahead, Lou, Okay.

Speaker 8 (15:43):
You said she has to win tonight to be great
or getting up. She's a really, really, really good player.
Cantegraded Kansas. Parker was better, Leslie was better, Diana Carot
was with it, Ron Stu better. You guys always want
to get the bad everything, Lebron James.

Speaker 3 (16:02):
What made them better? What made them better?

Speaker 8 (16:05):
What made them better? They played really good.

Speaker 1 (16:10):
I'm talking about these women you mentioned because I gotta
be honest.

Speaker 3 (16:14):
I don't know that they're better.

Speaker 8 (16:17):
Person do better then.

Speaker 3 (16:20):
Like in college.

Speaker 8 (16:23):
I mean, you can't play any other position down low down.

Speaker 3 (16:26):
She's the point guard's guard. You don't need to go
down low. You can't ask her to do.

Speaker 2 (16:31):
She leaves the nation and assists and scory. I mean,
you gotta look at those things and and uh, thanks Lottle.
We appreciate it things. I just need a reason for that, right,
make like that. I'm just gonna say why, Yeah, tell
me why? Neil in New York, you're on the YYD
couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Neil?

Speaker 7 (16:49):
Oh?

Speaker 9 (16:49):
This is Leo Rober.

Speaker 3 (16:50):
Okay, Leo, how you doing? Sorry?

Speaker 4 (16:53):
What's up? Buddy?

Speaker 8 (16:54):
Now?

Speaker 3 (16:56):
A long time man? Where you've been you good?

Speaker 9 (16:59):
He's been in it. But you know there's third things
for sure in this country, death tax and listening to
the alcohol.

Speaker 3 (17:07):
Twelve four jumping out quickly, all right, what you got, Leo?

Speaker 9 (17:11):
But Chris, clearly you don't listen to other shows, even
on s S one because the show that comes after
First and first Speak, they were talking about her being
the goats. They're talked about that first stick.

Speaker 3 (17:22):
And that's one show everybody's talking about it. But that's
all right.

Speaker 9 (17:26):
First first first they brought it up, said that brought
it up last week. And you know, if we're talking
good status, she need the championship at least, that's all
I was exactly. But if you if you just want
to talk about her being a great player. Chris, You're right,
she just need to you know, perform. Well, she had
this tat she had your career. We can actually question

(17:47):
a resume. But if if you're talk about gold status,
she need a championship.

Speaker 2 (17:52):
If you get in a big argument about who's the
greatest college and she doesn't have anything, it's hard to
make it.

Speaker 1 (17:59):
That's that's but I will say that a lot of
the other players in the discussion, not all, but a
lot of them went to like ukhn, you know, powerhouses.

Speaker 3 (18:12):
You know what I mean.

Speaker 1 (18:12):
I'm not taking it. I get it because you're right.
We talk about it with the men all the time.
Well did you win the championship.

Speaker 2 (18:19):
It's a part of the United What are we talking
about when you nitpick about how somebody's this or that,
that's got to be in the equation? Andre, that's fair.
Let's go to Andre in Massachusetts. You're on the odd
couple of Fox Sport traited. What's up, Drake?

Speaker 7 (18:34):
Yeah, how you're doing? Thanks for taking the call.

Speaker 9 (18:35):
Listen.

Speaker 7 (18:36):
I'm of the camp that this is the greatest night
in women's college basketball history, just because of the magnitude
of the two matchups that we have before us now
to start a show off, Ken Moulky is gambling, in
my opinion, she's going man coverage on Taitlin Clark. Put
Van Litz, who's not their best defender. And I was
already off to a fast start. Did I already scored?

Speaker 3 (18:56):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (18:56):
I was noticing that, Like, wow, that's maybe she should
have read the La Times and they had the game
plan in there.

Speaker 2 (19:02):
No.

Speaker 1 (19:04):
Well, Larry Bird used to get offended when they put
white players on his like what is this that way racist?

Speaker 3 (19:12):
Yes?

Speaker 4 (19:13):
Very nice?

Speaker 3 (19:14):
Hey that's Bird said that. Al go ahead.

Speaker 7 (19:18):
No, no, so we'll see the gamesman ship. But they
don't let Caitlyn Clark get out the bag early, so
she's already got a rhythm. The question is going to
be will these waves of defenders that Monky's gonna.

Speaker 3 (19:28):
Question is does she need to win?

Speaker 1 (19:29):
They don't need a breakdown Andrea the game states game
he does need to win.

Speaker 7 (19:35):
And back to your point about the other call is
the reason this is the greatest night in women's college basketball.
I'm not convinced she's a better pound for pound player
and score than Juju Watkins. And what you're going to
see in the second matchup and the player that Juju
reminds me of. It's why I feel is the greatest.
That's Cheryl Miller out of USC And so if Katelyn
can get this stuff, you get in the final four
and then make some noise against very talented teams. I'm

(19:56):
talking about Dawn Staley's South Carolina. That's the that's the
championship everybody wants. And I'll step back and she can
be in the all time greatest conversation at one or two.

Speaker 9 (20:04):
Thanks taking Nicoll, Thank you, Dre.

Speaker 4 (20:05):
I appreciate it.

Speaker 2 (20:06):
Emmett in Olympia, you're on the odd couple of Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 4 (20:10):
What's up, Emmett?

Speaker 6 (20:12):
What's going on? Chris and Rob? How are you guys
doing great?

Speaker 4 (20:15):
Buddy? You always sound good and Chipper like life is good.

Speaker 6 (20:18):
Oh yeah, I'm doing I'm doing great.

Speaker 2 (20:19):
Man.

Speaker 6 (20:20):
Just you know, shout out to Bursch and Chris in
the back. You know they're you know, great.

Speaker 9 (20:24):
Guys hanging out.

Speaker 6 (20:25):
But yeah, yeah, exactly.

Speaker 5 (20:27):
Now.

Speaker 6 (20:27):
I just a lot to say on this Caitlin Clark stuff.
I mean, in my opinion, she's proven a lot by
like breaking all these records and all that I wasn't
alive to speak, you know, because they go like all
the way way back in the day of these greatest
college basketball players you know, of all times. But in
my opinion, I mean, if you want to back up
your skills, how do you do that winning? And also
I want to say that Caitlyn Clark, I think just

(20:49):
because of how people are and like how the internet
is nowadays, just of her being a woman, she's going
to get held to like a higher standard in basketball
because people don't really like to see women's sports like
do test. Like there's a lot of hate going on.
So I think Caitlin Cark, they know that deep down.

Speaker 9 (21:03):
That's why.

Speaker 6 (21:04):
I mean, like Chris was saying, they're off to a
fast start of you know, what's the scoring now, Brissard, like.

Speaker 2 (21:10):
The twelve four last twelve four I think ye had
the last time we looked at it in the commercial book.

Speaker 6 (21:14):
Now she's off to a very fast start.

Speaker 1 (21:17):
I mean, I'm sorry, seventeen nine.

Speaker 6 (21:21):
Nine, all right, all right? And I mean else few
I think that they could be like a little bit
more of a deeper team. So she wins this. I think,
you know, she's really proven herself, and like the other
cars are saying this is the greatest night in women's
college basketball history. I don't think we've had this much
buzz around a women's sporting event in a very long time,
and that personally, I.

Speaker 1 (21:38):
Think that my opinion the last time. And I'm probably
forgetting something, admittedly, but Rob, I think tennis with Serena
and Venus playing each other. Yeah, but I ad again
I might be missing something.

Speaker 2 (21:54):
But how about the women's soccer World Cup, like any
of those like those those are big, Chris like those.

Speaker 3 (22:00):
Got huge ratings, right and they won, They get.

Speaker 2 (22:04):
No I know, but but it was the women though,
and they remember they're big here, you know, women's team
got a lot of love for that. I think that
was that was huge. And I don't know what the
numbers were, but I know it did.

Speaker 1 (22:15):
Numbers really Locker does really well. Yeah, I think the
numbers probably were huge. But but yeah, I mean that
that's I feel like this is bigger. Just but you
know that that's that's a good point. I mean, the
women's soccer team obviously is big. So all right, speaking
of basketball, a certain superstar is on his way back.

Speaker 3 (22:39):
How will that upset the NBA playoffs?

Speaker 4 (22:41):
Come in NBA Apple card Player.

Speaker 3 (22:44):
That's next, But first Steve the Seger with the update.

Speaker 2 (22:47):
Steve Steve, Hello, gentlemen, how are you doing well yourself?

Speaker 3 (22:51):
Sounding?

Speaker 4 (22:52):
Yes, you know, I was done a little bit under
the weather.

Speaker 3 (22:56):
You know what.

Speaker 4 (22:56):
That's what I did all weekend long.

Speaker 3 (22:58):
That's a body. Good.

Speaker 10 (22:59):
Good for you. Good LSU Tigers shooting fifty percent from
the floor and trailing twenty to fourteen to one seed
Iowa five minutes left in the first quarter of this
regional final in Albany, New York. So far, the Iowa
Hawkeys are eight of eleven shooting from the floor, eight
points for Caitlin Clark, who last game, by the way,

(23:19):
against Colorado had twenty nine points and fifteen assists. Iowa
was a one seed in the tournament for the first
time since nineteen ninety two. Coming up in a couple
hours the other regional final in Portland, Oregon, one seed
USC against Connecticut. And maybe you've heard about the three
point line the last few days in Portland, they finally
corrected it. It turned out to be nine inches shorter

(23:41):
than the other one on the other.

Speaker 3 (23:42):
Side of the course. Crazy, it has been at least
each team got.

Speaker 10 (23:47):
You know, each half Yeah, that's what they asked the
two coaches when they found out.

Speaker 3 (23:52):
Hey, we got a game coming up today. You want
to play on this? You want us to correct it?

Speaker 2 (23:56):
Now?

Speaker 10 (23:56):
How long is it going to be? Probably over an hour?
Oh for crying out loud, let's just play.

Speaker 3 (24:00):
So they're just playing with it.

Speaker 10 (24:02):
Wow they did yesterday? Yeah they didn't. Nobody seemed to
notice it the previous two days. And yeah, lot, I've
come up short before, but not that much. Once we
talked about In fact, last night on the show with
even from so Long, we were talking about this once
they pointed it out and showed the ncaa statement on
the air. You looked at the court in pointless a

(24:23):
single that is noticeable. My goodness, this one is much
closer to the top of the key.

Speaker 4 (24:28):
That happened.

Speaker 3 (24:29):
That a measure, but.

Speaker 4 (24:30):
Should be it.

Speaker 1 (24:31):
I'm looking at the game right now between LSU and IOWA,
and maybe I don't know what the color the court
is in Portland, but this is two different colors.

Speaker 3 (24:39):
Yes, so you would be able to really tell you
know what I mean?

Speaker 6 (24:42):
Like that?

Speaker 3 (24:43):
Oh that lies a lot closer.

Speaker 2 (24:44):

Speaker 3 (25:06):
It's The I Couple. Christian Rob live from the Tirereck
dot Com studios. Rob.

Speaker 1 (25:11):
I told you that Caitlin Clark went to the same
high school I went to Iowa when I now, granted
I was there a while ago.

Speaker 2 (25:20):
A long time ago. Two high schools in Des Moines, right,
they had eight they had a you know high school citys.
Oh gosh, I mean ninety one high schools. Can you
believe that.

Speaker 3 (25:33):
I'm surprised.

Speaker 2 (25:33):
It's only that I thought one in the city ahead.

Speaker 1 (25:37):
Well, but when I was in and this was you know,
I graduated nineteen eighty six from a different high school
once I moved to Cleveland, but still the class eighty
six Rob.

Speaker 3 (25:48):
The girls. It was one of the last states, maybe
the last state.

Speaker 1 (25:52):
When I lived in Iowa and went to Dowling High School,
the girls in Iowa played three on three.

Speaker 3 (26:00):
Basketble And have you ever seen that?

Speaker 4 (26:03):
No?

Speaker 3 (26:03):
And how long would a game four minutes four minute quarters?

Speaker 4 (26:06):
Is that what it was?

Speaker 3 (26:07):
Right?

Speaker 2 (26:09):
I know, I mean I don't remember it because I
assume they were. When they had three on three, it
was like, so some girls all they did was play defense.

Speaker 1 (26:20):
I was like, man, you really love because I there's
there's no way I'm only playing defense.

Speaker 4 (26:26):
Like they couldn't shoot, right, They weren't allowed that.

Speaker 3 (26:28):
They didn't work.

Speaker 1 (26:28):
They never worked because it was literally one half of
the court was my three offensive players versus your three
defensive players, and if they got a rebound or whatever,
they passed the half court and then it was our
three offensive players against.

Speaker 2 (26:46):
It was basically two teams half court games, right, I
get it? Okay, wow, yeah, yeah. So I don't know
when they switched. I never saw that.

Speaker 4 (26:58):
I didn't know.

Speaker 1 (26:59):
I had never My mom played basketball high school. I
mean that's way back, and they played that way too.
So I think women all over at one point played
three on three like that.

Speaker 2 (27:12):
Your mom, I know, you know how My mom is
four eight She was niceketball nice in high school.

Speaker 3 (27:20):
Eight yes, four eight.

Speaker 4 (27:22):
Oh wow, she was nice too.

Speaker 3 (27:25):
I mean, you know, you know, you see you see
me playing, so you know she was.

Speaker 2 (27:28):
She was nice. Hey, I would take her on like
I took on Nancy Lieberman. Tell your mom you could
probably beat my mom. Small ball and all that. Rob
All right, NBA Joe l mb rob reports that he
could come back to morrow.

Speaker 4 (27:46):
I'm a little shocked by this.

Speaker 3 (27:48):
Yeah, well, are you in that camp?

Speaker 2 (27:50):
There are those I'm not I think if you know,
these got a clean bill of health by all means
bringing back. Are you in that camp where you rather
just kind of him out and wait till next year
if he's healthy.

Speaker 4 (28:03):
I've always been that, Chris.

Speaker 2 (28:04):
I think he should play, but it seems fast, it
seems a little fast. But if he's ready, I'm not
going to change that. If he's really completely healthy. This
is not the Kevin Durant. When we were skeptical of
Kevin Durant going out there, You remember that, Like that
was different because we didn't think he was healthy.

Speaker 4 (28:23):
Already, and we were right first guessed it.

Speaker 2 (28:27):
Now in this case, if he is healthy and there
are no chances Chris, of them having him reinjure himself
or do damage to himself, that's the only way I
would be against it.

Speaker 3 (28:39):
Yeah, No, I hear you.

Speaker 4 (28:40):
If he talked his way into the lineup. Do you
know what I'm saying?

Speaker 1 (28:43):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly, don't if he's begging you, I'm
all right, But you feel like he's not ready. Absolutely,
you know the argument for bringing him back. First of all,
I just think.

Speaker 3 (28:55):
If he's healthy, he should play, right. I agree with that,
if he's healthy.

Speaker 1 (29:00):
But also Rob, and people don't want to hear this
in Philly. We all know how injury prone he is,
and who knows how many chances he's gonna have or
Philly's gonna have.

Speaker 3 (29:11):
You know what I mean.

Speaker 1 (29:12):
So I'm not saying you just throw caution to the wind,
but I am saying you don't just sit him out
when he's already he's healthy, if the doctors have cleared
him and he's able to play, and he wants to play.

Speaker 3 (29:26):
Him and I'll tell you what, Rob.

Speaker 1 (29:28):
You know what's amazing, Joe LMBI was playing the best
basketball in the league as far as I'm concerned before
he got hurt and Rob with him, the Sixers were
twenty six and eight. That's a sixty two win pace,
which would have been second only to the Celtics had
they kept it up without him. Rob fourteen and twenty seven. Wow, drug,

(29:53):
I mean, that is a huge fall off.

Speaker 2 (29:56):
But how they're the eighth seed right now in the East,
and I'm gonna be honest, I think Boston would beat
him clearly.

Speaker 3 (30:06):
I think Miami could beat them.

Speaker 1 (30:10):
I'm not saying they would or that I necessarily pick them,
but the way Miami plays, as smart as they are,
as gritty and tough as they are, I think that
would be problem Matt.

Speaker 3 (30:21):
They could give Philly some problems.

Speaker 1 (30:23):
Outside of that, I'm not saying i'd pick them over Milwaukee,
but Rob, any other team in the East I think
would really have to be wary of the Sixers with
Joe l MBI.

Speaker 3 (30:36):
Back, I'm not sure of that.

Speaker 2 (30:38):
From the standpoint of Chris, He's been out a long
time and I'm not saying And the other part is
his numbers in the postseason aren't great, so I wouldn't
look at them as like, oh my god, if he's there,
they're gonna run the table.

Speaker 4 (30:51):
I don't believe that. I don't.

Speaker 1 (30:53):
Well, that's a good point, and I think one hopefully
we're gonna get this question answered because Rob, I've wondered,
and you're talking about his scoring goes down about three
points from like twenty seven for his career to twenty four.

Speaker 3 (31:09):
His shooting percentage both.

Speaker 2 (31:11):
From three it wasn't even worse than that ten point.

Speaker 1 (31:15):
Yeah, last year was. It was astronomical. It was a
big number.

Speaker 3 (31:19):
Run. I have it for you here in a minute.

Speaker 1 (31:20):
But in the regular season, Rob last year averaged thirty
three points a game.

Speaker 2 (31:26):
In the playoffs, it went down to twenty three. Wow,
you just can't have that, and a big man like that.

Speaker 1 (31:31):
He shot forty three percent from the field in the
playoffs fifty three percent in the regular season. So it
was dramatic. And so the question that I think will
be hopefully answered Rob is have Mbad's playoffs struggles been
kind of nerves? If you like, you might look at
say James Harden.

Speaker 3 (31:51):
Right or has it been man?

Speaker 1 (31:53):
By the time he gets to the playoffs, dude is
on one leg, you know, because he usually misses a
game or here or there, and a lot of these
games I think when he's played, he's also been banged up,
you know what I mean, And so he might play,
but he's still only eighty percent. So this a lot
of people are saying. One of the benefits of this

(32:14):
could be you know what, He's gonna be fresh. He's
gonna be fresh and no I get that thinking we'll
see yeah, but he could be fresh and rusty. Yeah,
when they got seven games and I think they I
know that'll be.

Speaker 2 (32:28):
That's probably why if they're gonna do it, you gotta
get him in there, Chris, because you can't start him
in the playoffs.

Speaker 4 (32:34):
Yep, you know what I mean.

Speaker 3 (32:36):
Yep, yep.

Speaker 1 (32:37):
Now, Rob Lsu has had a terrific run ten oh
run in less than three minutes to pull ahead thirty
one twenty six. In the final moments of the first quarter.
Caitln Clarks had some bad turnovers. She's just made some
bad entry passes in the half court offense that have
been stolen and returned, you know, or taken in for

(32:59):
breakaway lets.

Speaker 3 (33:00):
So iowa on the ropes early.

Speaker 1 (33:03):
But Lsu has taken command of this game early thirty
one twenty six at the end of one quarter.

Speaker 3 (33:11):
All Right, it's the odd couple of course.

Speaker 1 (33:13):
Shekel Cities next and Rob NC State on their magical run.

Speaker 2 (33:19):
Yes, Jim Volbero, I remember when it happened, Chris originally
with Jim Valbano on NC State.

Speaker 3 (33:25):
Yes, we'll get into that.

Speaker 4 (33:26):
I forget that.

Speaker 3 (33:27):
Man, Oh no, but this is unbelievable.

Speaker 1 (33:30):
What's going on. We'll get into that next. And now,
of course, Shekel City. Keep it locked a couple of

All right, we're live from the Tirerack dot Com studios

a successful game player starts with the right players, the
team at Tractor Supply brings hustle and heart and that's

(34:14):
what really sets them apart. So lace up your sneakers
and make the winning play by heading to your local
Tractor supply store. Today is time for Shekel City.

Speaker 3 (34:24):
Welcome two, Shekel City, the home base for Rob Parkers,
Dally Dicks against the Sprat.

Speaker 5 (34:36):
All right, Chris, here we go, a little Shekel City.
I'm gonna go, best bet, I'm taking the Boston Red
Sox minus one and a half runs. They're in opening
to take on the Age, so I'll take the Red
Sox minus one and a half. Also gonna take the
Yankees at four and zero against Arizona, Chris three and one.
I'm gonna take the Yankees minus one and a half

(34:57):
on the road, so to give them. The Yankees a
great start. Sodo has been great for them so far though.
Man he's been catches. Chris throws home runs, game winning hits.
The first four games have been a dream for him
to start in the Bronx. And I'm taking the Suns
plus one and a half. They're in New Orleans to

(35:19):
take on the Pelicans. So I got the Sons plus
one and a half points, Chris, I got the Yankees
minus one and a half runs and the Red Sox
minus one and a half runs in Oakland and the
intimate gathering tonight at the column see him, and remember.

Speaker 3 (35:35):
I'm not telling you who to bet on.

Speaker 4 (35:36):
I'm telling you who I better.

Speaker 3 (35:39):
All right, There you have it, And Rob the Cinderella.

Speaker 1 (35:43):
There is one Cinderella in the men's final four, and
it unbelievably Rob. It is the Cinderella of forty one
years ago, which did go in go all the way
to win the chainchampionship, and.

Speaker 3 (36:01):
That's North Carolina State.

Speaker 1 (36:02):
So you got North Carolina State, the eleven seed ROB
facing number one seed Perdue on one side of the bracket,
and they'll the winner of that will take on Yukan Alabama.
The winner of Yukon Alabama Yukonda one seed Alabama four
and Andrel.

Speaker 3 (36:21):
Reese out of the game. ROB looks like a little
bit of a.

Speaker 1 (36:25):
Just glided with Clark too, Caitlin Clark, so unless you're
up four early in the second quarter.

Speaker 3 (36:33):
But anyway, Rob, this.

Speaker 1 (36:35):
N C State team, it is the similarities to Jim
Valvano's nineteen eighty three n C State team ROB that
won the national Championship over Hakeem Elijahwan, Clyde Drexler, all
those great players five Slama Jama ROB. The similarities are unbelievable, starting.

Speaker 2 (36:59):
With the neither that n C State team in eighty
three or this year's NC State team would have made
the n C Double a playoff without without winning.

Speaker 3 (37:11):
The ACC Tournament.

Speaker 1 (37:14):
And ironically both teams ROB when the tournament, the n
C Double, the ACC Tournament began, both of them had
seventeen wins. Think about that, and this NC State team
this year has won nine straight games now and they
taken down in C State or North Carolina which was

(37:36):
a number one seed, Duke, which was a four seed,
Marquette a two seed. Like they've been rolling and they've
beaten Duke twice actually and.

Speaker 2 (37:48):
Uh yeah yeah yeah, but Rob, this is interesting. Purdue
of course, as Zach Edie, we'll get into that a
little bit later, but yeah, what do you think about
this NC State team and is this a Cinderella situation
you would like to see come to pass?

Speaker 4 (38:08):
Yeah, I mean go all the way.

Speaker 3 (38:11):
I think you got it, you gotta.

Speaker 1 (38:12):
You got one blue blood really in u kon but
two big schools, right, Purdue in Alabama.

Speaker 2 (38:18):
Right, But but it would be Chris. I know this
sounds crazy. I don't know if I want NC State
to have another miracle that they had with Jim Velmo.

Speaker 4 (38:35):
Yeah, I know that sounds crazy.

Speaker 3 (38:37):
Feel like it takes away from I mean just.

Speaker 2 (38:40):
Just just because that's such an iconic moment and him
running around on the court afterwards, and the you know,
the basket, just the way it ended, you.

Speaker 1 (38:51):
Know what I mean, It's like it's a one that
ended on that out that like offensive rebound.

Speaker 2 (38:57):
Which is just an unbelievable Lorenzo chall right at the hoop.
And I don't know if I want NC State to
win again.

Speaker 4 (39:04):
I know I'm.

Speaker 1 (39:05):
Saying you never want them to win again, or you
just don't want them to win in Cinderella fashion.

Speaker 2 (39:13):
That's a good question. Maybe it's I don't want to
see them win while I'm still alive. How's that they
can win after I'm gone? No, But do you know
that moment, Chris, I don't know why that moment of all,
Like a lot of college basketball, there's some great, really
great moments, but that was one that was shocking, wasn't it?

Speaker 3 (39:30):
Come on?

Speaker 4 (39:30):
That's it was.

Speaker 3 (39:31):
I mean that was completely shocked.

Speaker 2 (39:33):
That was a complete shock, Like people were stunned when
that game was over, Like.

Speaker 1 (39:39):
Well, everybody talking about how dominant, uh, this Yukon team
has been.

Speaker 2 (39:46):
I mean that that Houston team they were supposed to
win and win easily. They were supposed to winning when.

Speaker 1 (39:51):
Either they had I mean Hakim Elijahwaan, who obviously went
on to become one of the greatest players and win
two championships in the NBA n b A right, and
but with him Rob was they had Clyde Drexler, who
also went on to become a Hall of Fame NBA player,
and it.

Speaker 4 (40:10):
Was drafted ahead of Michael Jordan.

Speaker 3 (40:11):
How's that?

Speaker 4 (40:12):
No, I wasn't thinking. I was talking, Who am I thinking?

Speaker 9 (40:14):
Of?

Speaker 4 (40:15):
Sam Boy?

Speaker 2 (40:16):
The reason they draft Tucky Portland because they had dress.

Speaker 1 (40:21):
And interestingly, Rob Drexler told me he was telling him
go ahead and draft Jordans. Really he wasn't, like, I
don't I didn't get the impression he was like really
pushing him to but he was.

Speaker 3 (40:30):
But he was like, hey, we could play together. Yeah. Yeah,
he was like we could definitely play that.

Speaker 4 (40:35):
Sam Boy was a really good he got hurt a
lot of Kentucky.

Speaker 2 (40:37):
Buddy and say, wow, they were crazy, But you know
you're right right, I mean he was a good player.

Speaker 3 (40:44):
Yeah, yeah, he just couldn't stay healthy. All right, we
got two hours left, y'all know what to do. Lock
it a couple
