However you may be listening.

With that said, let me bring in my partner, mister
Rob Parker.

Speaker 4 (01:27):
What's up man? Crying those fake crocodile tears?

Speaker 3 (01:38):
It is, indeed the last time I will ever do
the a. Yeah, it's Kelvin gonna do that probably now
you're gonna have his own.

Speaker 4 (01:47):
I'll do it on you.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
You see, I'm patting my eyes because of the water here.

Speaker 4 (01:52):
Yeah, this is it, Chris.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
I do have one question to start the show, and
I hope you can help me out because you're a
learning man, You're smart. How do you say good riddance
in Vietnamese? And I had nothing to do with you.
I'm sorry, I just has nothing to do with you
leaving the show. I'm just asking what.

Speaker 5 (02:15):
I have no idea? Okay, all right, did you know? No,
I'm just playing. I'm just playing.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
And what would what would the last I Couple show
be without a joke from Rob That just wasn't funny?

Speaker 4 (02:30):
What it was that was so corny? I didn't even
know it was a joke.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
Steve the Sega laughed when I tried it on him earlier.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
Steve the Sega, No, he's waiting. He was stone faced.
Mary Mary didn't even.

Speaker 4 (02:43):
Mary Mary was laughing inside. I just looked it up,
did you. Yeah, I say it? I careful, I said,
but I'll do the translation. Go ahead. What was that you?
It's like one more time. That's it. That's good written
to to me, it's Chris, that's good written. I'm out hey,

(03:10):
I can't believe. I can't believe you made it here.

Speaker 1 (03:12):
And I just want to say, you know, people listen
at different hours, Chris, so I'm going to I'm not
going to just save it for the last two seconds
to say what you meant to me and this show
and everybody else and what we've been able to put
together for the last six years. But it's something that
is very near and dear. And yes, I've had other
radio partners. I've been doing radio since nineteen ninety four,

(03:34):
but this is different. It's special, and I appreciate you,
and obviously we've been friends for a long time. I
never knew we would have a radio show of this magnitude,
and I'm just feel fortunate and blessed that we were
able to do something different on the radio and not
be like the cookie Cutters. And that's why the Odd
Couple lives on Nah Nah Man. I thank you as well.

Speaker 3 (03:58):
It's been a great sixth year run, and our friendship
obviously will continue. I think it's been thirty two years
since we first remember first day I met you at
the nineteen ninety two n a BJ in Detroit.

Speaker 4 (04:15):
I'll show you a T shirt or anything or no.

Speaker 3 (04:19):
But it was me Michael Holly, who's now on Peacock
and you know, written books on the Patriots and Bill
Belichick and and you know was at the Boston.

Speaker 4 (04:29):
Globe and.

Speaker 3 (04:31):
Percy Allen. I didn't know stephen A at that time.
Percy Allen, who yeah, did his thing in sound. He
was two guys I went with and you. Rob Parker
came up and I didn't know who you were. I
didn't know what you like, who was this tall? No,
everybody was like, oh, everybody was like Rob park got

(04:54):
he covers the Reds.

Speaker 4 (04:55):
No, I mean we were all young dudes. I was
covered high school sports, covers the rags.

Speaker 3 (05:00):
He covers the Reds, first black beat right on the
Reds and all that stuff. And I mean, I know, Rob,
you met my daughters when they were tiny tiny. This
is on that Disney Disney World yeap and another n ABJ.
I remember you told me you were getting married. I
remember you told me you're getting divorced or like all

(05:21):
of that. And you're right. We were friends that were
both at ESPN. But we never knew and never even
thought I think you do a radio show show together.

Speaker 4 (05:31):
And we both started at FS one on the same day.
It is amazing where our careers have gone.

Speaker 1 (05:38):
And thanks to of course or Don and Scott for
giving us the opportunity.

Speaker 4 (05:43):
And I don't think they're disappointed. I think they're very happy.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
And Chris, the last thing, there's a reason that Calvin
will be Washington will be taking your place or spot
or whatever, I know, not replacing you, but in your
chair or whatever on Monday is because of what we
did together to continue this show like it wasn't. They

(06:07):
couldn't look at this show and crap it, do something different,
And that's what I'm saying. That's a testament to both
of us.

Speaker 3 (06:14):
Yeah, absolutely, man, And like I said, it's been a
pleasure and we'll obviously stay in contact, but let's make
this last one a good one. The Eye Couple crew
is all here, Rob g running things. We got on
the updates, our man Steve the Sager on the social
media of the Great Elijah Saboo and Elijah's in the studio, Yes,

(06:36):
in the studio and.

Speaker 4 (06:39):
You already heard her. But on the ones and twos in.

Speaker 3 (06:43):
Place of DJ Alex Tyser, who said his goodbyes yesterday,
is none other.

Speaker 1 (06:48):
Than And let's just be honest, Mary wanted to be here.
Did you know that, Chris, No, Yeah, that's why she's here.
You didn't you want to be here for this?

Speaker 4 (07:03):
Mary?

Speaker 6 (07:06):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (07:06):
I thought you did. I'm sorry. It was on an accident.

Speaker 3 (07:09):
I totally forgot, and then I was like, I gotta work.
But hey, we made Mary Mary famous, all right? Not
even Alex has an intro like Mary Mary.

Speaker 1 (07:21):
Nope, everybody at the station, is at the network, is
jealous of that open but all right, yeah.

Speaker 4 (07:27):
Absolutely, all right, Rob.

Speaker 3 (07:28):
So look, we got a lot to talk about, obviously
to us.

Speaker 4 (07:33):
So what we're gonna do.

Speaker 3 (07:34):
Let's talk a little bit here, talk about it in
the next segment, and then we'll open it up to
calls at the thirty because obviously people want to weigh
in for those everybody, I'm sure knows. But last night
while we're doing the show, but it was after we
were off, Yeah, because the game started while we were
on the show.

Speaker 4 (07:53):
To get between the building. It didn't even look like
a hit hit.

Speaker 3 (07:56):
It was not a vicious hit, and that cit that's
a part of the story. But Tua, who has you know,
had had a history of concussions except last supper, Yeah,
which is suffered his last or it's fourth Rob three
in the NFL one at at Alabama in college and

(08:21):
now you know he's out, he's on.

Speaker 4 (08:23):
Did they put him on the injured list, Roger or
is it?

Speaker 3 (08:26):
Maybe not announced yet, but I'm sure he'll Yeah, nothing official,
He'll go on the injured list.

Speaker 4 (08:31):
I'll give him four weeks.

Speaker 3 (08:33):
It'll get him away at least for a little bit
from the questions of what's next with him. I imagine
that's how they'll do it. But the question, Rob is
really whether or not he plays again at all, not
just this season. But it's a question you hate to ask.
He's only twenty seven years old. He did have a

(08:55):
bright future ahead of him, whether you thought he was
going to be a superstar not. He was very productive
last year, had a great season, and you know, had
the weapons and the coaching and the ability to have
another great season.

Speaker 4 (09:09):
So it's sad to have to talk about it. But
it's a dangerous sports football, we know it.

Speaker 3 (09:14):
And so Rob, let's come around the break and really
get into tu and his future here on the I Couples,
Keep It Locked is Chris and Rob Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (09:26):

Speaker 3 (10:16):
It is a funky flashback Friday, Mary Mary on the
boards live from this dot com studio.

Speaker 4 (10:23):
Is this a song about me and you? Chris right here?
A breakup song? We want to thank rap That's all
I'm gonna do. I'm not gonna laugh.

Speaker 3 (10:34):
We wanna thank rappid radios, the official communication device of
Fox Sports Radio. Rappid radios are instant push to talk

to sixty percent off, free ups shipping, and a free
protection bad. If you add the code radio r A
d io, you get an extra five percent off.

Speaker 4 (10:59):
So let's start by.

Speaker 3 (11:01):
Hearing some sound from Antonio Piers, who of course played
in the league as a linebacker and now is the
coach of the Las Vegas Raiders.

Speaker 9 (11:10):
Here's his take on to I'll be honest, I'll just
sudden retire. It's not worth it. It's not worth to
play the game. I haven't witnessed anything like I've seen
that's happened to him three times.

Speaker 4 (11:21):
Scary.

Speaker 9 (11:21):
You can see right away the players faces on the field.

Speaker 4 (11:24):
You can see it. Since urgency from everybody to get
to a help.

Speaker 9 (11:27):
I just think it. At some point, you know he's
don't live long and he's gonna play football. Take care
of your family, all right.

Speaker 1 (11:33):
Rob, what are your thoughts? I think you gotta be
very careful. Chris, Hey, you're not a doctor. You don't
know what his real his condition is. I get it
from watching from Afar, and your first reaction is naturally
for his health and safety and the future. And I
get all that it's going to be a decision that
he's going to have to make with medical people who

(11:55):
know what damage has been done and what can happen
long term. People can throw out and I get it.
Everybody has opinions, and I'm not killing people for saying, oh,
he should retire whatever, But I think you gotta be
careful being a physician, a doctor or whatever or playing

(12:16):
one from Afar, Like, you really got to know what's
happened here. And I don't know if that's the first
thing that we should that people should even should first
be about his safety and you know, and everything, and
then I guess at some point you could figure out
how bad it is, you know, and then what the
future should be. And obviously he's gonna be a decision

(12:39):
that I will say this, Chris can't be just his
It's got to be a decision family, doctors, other people,
because at twenty seven years old, of course he wants
to play, you know, Like, of course I don't even
think that that's a question. If you could get out
there and if they're gonna let you. That's why I
often we've seen football players where they take their helmets

(13:03):
so that they can't get back out there. You know,
because you want to play, because you play football, you
want to play regardless, but sometimes people have to protect
you because it might not be in your best interest.

Speaker 3 (13:16):
So, first of all, thank you for saying I played football.
You usually mock me just because I just played at
the high school level.

Speaker 5 (13:23):
The only time, the last they love is that what
that is? No, the only time is when you equate
it to the NFL is what I know? My face out,
that's all like, don't do that, right right?

Speaker 4 (13:39):
I I will say, Rob.

Speaker 3 (13:41):
And first of all, you heard Antonio Pierce say, you
know he hasn't seen anything like that. Obviously he's seen concussions.
He probably suffered some, whether they were diagnosed or not.
A linebacker.

Speaker 1 (13:52):
I'm sure then they weren't diagnosed, right, people had concussions, right, absolutely, And.

Speaker 3 (14:00):
When he said he hasn't seen anything like that, I
think Rob and I can't recall. Now if you are, Rob,
G can let me know because I'm sure it's happened,
but I just can't recall to you know, they were
using the terms he's went into the fencing position. You know,
when your muscle, your arms or legs kind of move,

(14:20):
you know, they're just kind of they seize up and
like out of your control. And sometimes you might see
a boxer do that occasionally, not a lot, but that
the two last two times, or at least two of
the last three times, where two I think it is
the last two where he's got concussions.

Speaker 4 (14:42):
He has seized up like that.

Speaker 3 (14:44):
Last night it was his foot, like his ankle or
leg was his foot was pointed in an odd way.
His arm was kind of up like out of his control,
which you know comes from brain trauma. And like you said,
I'm not a doctor's I'm not trying to be one,
but I do think that's what people that's what people
really fear. Like you've seen guys get hit hard, much harder,

(15:06):
like last night was just a routine play. He actually
initiated the contact into DeMar Hamlin.

Speaker 4 (15:13):
But yeah, I think that's one thing that has people worried.

Speaker 3 (15:17):
I do I would say to Rob it is I
agree with you that look. People telling him to retire,
I'm fine with that because it's done out of care
and for his safety and for his health. Whether they're
right or wrong, you know, but that I think they're
doing it from the right place. I'm with you in
that it's his decision, and I do think it's mainly

(15:43):
his decision. And I say this like you said, it's
not just his. I think he's gonna get cleared by
the doctors. I'm not saying within the ten days, and
it might be ten days, but I do think, and
I could be wrong, but I think I feel very
strongly that he's going to be cleared, whether it's two weeks,

(16:04):
four weeks, two months, whatever it is, I feel strongly
he'll be cleared to play football again. And if they
clear him to play, then he has that right to play.

Speaker 4 (16:17):
You know, the the you know dangers and things like that.

Speaker 3 (16:21):
And I just hope that the doctors, the team, his family,
and An obviously himself are honest and I hope Rob
that they share with him.

Speaker 4 (16:32):
Look, if you get hit again, or.

Speaker 3 (16:37):
This wasn't a huge hit from DeMar Hamlin, that's the
type of hit that you're going to that could happen
every few games, you know, that was just a kind
of a routine play. I hope they're honest with him
and share with him all the possible outcomes and then
he can make an educated decision. I will support him

(16:58):
whatever he does. I'm praying for him. He's a man
of faith himself, so I know he appreciates everybody's prayers.
But I'll support him and pull for him no matter
what he does.

Speaker 4 (17:09):
Decides. My personal hope, Rob.

Speaker 3 (17:13):
And it means nothing to him, but my personal hope
just from seeing it, is that he retires.

Speaker 4 (17:19):
But that you know, that's just me.

Speaker 3 (17:21):
I hope he I would like to see him retire
and maybe get involved if he wants. He loves the game, obviously,
but at the coaching level, broadcasting level, front office level,
whatever he wants to do, he'll have opportunities. But just
for his look. And I gotta say this to Rob,
I am so glad. And you know, all off season

(17:44):
I have said, if I were the Dolphins, I would
not have given to the huge contract.

Speaker 4 (17:50):
Rob. Gee, what were the exact numbers? You could look
him up and tell us.

Speaker 3 (17:53):
But he got the huge, you know, fifty million dollars
a year contract. I said I wouldn't do it because one,
I want to see him stay healthy for another year
He's only had one fully healthy season and now his
five years in the league, so I want to see
another healthy year, and two I'm still have questions about

(18:13):
how good he's going to be. And so that was
my stance, and I stand by that. If I were
running the Dolphins, that would have been my stance. But Rob,
I'm so glad he got his.

Speaker 1 (18:25):
Kind well here, No, well, that my stance was that
the opposite that he stayed healthy all year, didn't get
hurt in Game one, and you could get hurt, and
I know it's history, but there's no you don't know
if he would have another full year, he got hurt
in Game two, whatever it could be, there was always
that chance.

Speaker 4 (18:44):
But this is why football players.

Speaker 1 (18:47):
More than anybody, should have guaranteed contracts, Chris, whether they're smaller,
three years guaranteed and then the team could either resign,
your move on or whatever it is.

Speaker 4 (18:59):
That's why.

Speaker 1 (19:00):
And if players don't understand that by seeing this and
not understanding why, it is so important for them to
band together and demand that you're playing a game that
basketball players in baseball, Chris don't even have nearly the
chance of something like this happening, and they have fully
guaranteed contracts, great medical benefits, all that stuff, and yet

(19:26):
do you.

Speaker 4 (19:26):
Think if anybody should have it, it's the football.

Speaker 1 (19:29):
And if the football players are looking at this and
what they want is to practice less and smoke weed,
shame on you because that's what they voted for.

Speaker 4 (19:38):
Chris.

Speaker 3 (19:40):
His deal Rob that he got this summer this offseason
was four years, two hundred and twelve million, one hundred
and sixty seven million guaranteed. So here's the situation financially
for him if he is forced to retire, which I
don't think will happen. But again I'm not a doctor,
but if the doctors were just say Rob, you can't play,

(20:02):
you can't play anymore, he would get one hundred and
sixty seven million, that's his guarantee. But if he is
like they clear him to play, and then he decides
on his own, after talking with his family and stuff,
that he's just gonna hang it up, he'll get at
least ninety three million. Now, I think he would probably

(20:22):
try to negotiate something with the Dolphins where maybe he
gets somewhere in between the one sixty seven and the
ninety three, but he would at the very least get
ninety three million and Rob Remember, in twenty twenty two,
after he suffered the two concussions, he said he considered retirement.
He talked it over with his family, he considered it,

(20:44):
and then he started, you know, working with guys and
learning how to fall and to the ground in different
ways that might keep him safe. But the thing is,
you can't if any sport is unpredictable, you know, and
you just can't. You're not always gonna be to fall
the right way or avoid the big hit or whatever
it may be. Even now as people aren't trying to

(21:07):
hit helmet the helmet.

Speaker 4 (21:08):
It happens every game.

Speaker 3 (21:10):
It just it's a it's the sport is a collision sport,
and so you know, I just it's a challenge, man.

Speaker 4 (21:17):
And if he wants to play, I'm gonna support him.
And I get it.

Speaker 3 (21:20):
He's only twenty seven. Rop it's a tough situation.

Speaker 4 (21:23):
It's a tough call.

Speaker 1 (21:24):
Let's start, You're not thirty five and had a career, right,
I mean, that's easy Chris to walk away from that.

Speaker 4 (21:30):
That's the hard part. But it is a decision that
is not just his.

Speaker 1 (21:34):
I mean, it's got to be a lot of people
got to be involved, to really spell it out for him,
and his family has to be involved too, and what
could potentially happen long term if he were to play again.

Speaker 3 (21:45):
All right, you'll turn away in eight seven, seven ninety
nine on Fox eight seven seven, nine nine, six sixty
three sixty nine. Sure, a lot of you want to
give your opinion on Tua and his future, But.

Speaker 2 (21:56):

ninety nine on Fox eight seven, seven, nine nine, six

Speaker 4 (22:17):
What you got?

Speaker 1 (22:19):
All right, let's see was that TDK TDK in Texas.
You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 4 (22:27):
What's up? TDK?

Speaker 10 (22:29):
Hey, first time, long time?

Speaker 4 (22:31):
Wow, thanks for callin, Thank you for calling.

Speaker 10 (22:34):
Yeah, and I just want to say to Chris congratulations.
I'm a fellow Cincinnatian from College Hill as well, so oh.

Speaker 4 (22:41):
Wow, Cone Shield too. Yeah.

Speaker 10 (22:43):
Yeah, But anyway, he knows what the endgame is as
far as like the cognitive dangers of concussions. He's got
as many concussions as Chris Russard has home towns, hang
it back.

Speaker 1 (22:56):
What he's had as many concussions that you have towns, Chris?

Speaker 4 (23:02):
How many town hometown line a lot exactly, So.

Speaker 10 (23:07):
Hang him up and be a contributor on the Odd Couple.
We have a good life.

Speaker 11 (23:11):
That's all I got, all right, Thanks, CDK bad, Thank
you appreciating eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox creg
in the Nati, Greg and Cincinnati on the Odd Couple
of Fox Sportsuitio.

Speaker 12 (23:21):
What's up, Hey, thanks for taking my call. I intantly
thought at Sidney Crosby. I was terrified when he decided.
I mean he took a year off because of head injuries.

Speaker 13 (23:34):
Yep, came back, He's still on the ice. So I
leave it up to tuas I got you.

Speaker 4 (23:40):
Yep, there's a good example, Chris of somebody who would make.

Speaker 3 (23:42):
Can you take I don't know, yeah, I would think
it helps, but I don't know. I'm not a doctor.
But what about taking some time off? Long time off?

Speaker 4 (23:51):
It could? Yep?

Speaker 1 (23:54):
It is Tim, Chili Tim in Atlanta. You're on the
odd Couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Chili, Tim?

Speaker 8 (24:00):
You know what up?

Speaker 2 (24:00):
Chris?

Speaker 14 (24:01):
What up.

Speaker 8 (24:01):
What up?

Speaker 4 (24:02):
What's up? How are you?

Speaker 14 (24:04):
I'm good man. You know, in my field, my doctor
is in psychology, so you know, I've seen effects of
like brain damage and trauma on people. So I'm hoping
that you, Chris, that they will seriously sit down and
talk with him, Uh, neurologists, psychologists, whole team people to
really kind of scope out, you know, the dangers later

(24:28):
on life that can happen to him. And you know,
he can make an informed decision. It's up to him,
but don't, like you you know, give it to him
and they you know, like you said, be honest, be
truthful and giving the scenarios. Don't tell him what he
wants to hear. But definitely, you know, you know, tell
him everything that could possibly happen because uh, you know,

(24:50):
you you it could take you know, I've had studies
where I've seen people where it took them, you know,
twenty thirty years later for things to happen. But I
can lead to things like alzheimless and men early on
ship at early ages from concussion. So uh, definitely something
to be to take very seriously and for him to
really really uh decide with his family and doctors and

(25:12):
pray about and brother, I'm a mission but taking Rob.
You know I'm gonna be with you, man all man.

Speaker 4 (25:18):
I appreciate that. Ya, thank you, all right, thank you.

Speaker 1 (25:23):
Randy in New Orleans. You're on the odd couple of
Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Randy, Gentlemen, Happy Friday, Yes, sir, Yes, Chris.

Speaker 15 (25:32):
Chris Russon, Happy trails to you man, Uncle Rob. You
know I'm gonna still be hanging in here with you
every week.

Speaker 4 (25:38):
Sir, my man man.

Speaker 1 (25:41):
Yes, the new show starts on Monday. We don't waste
any time here.

Speaker 15 (25:45):
Waste no time, Chris Russ, see you in New Orleans.
I just want to I just wanted to weigh in
quickly about Tour. You know, I'm talking merely from a
parent standpoint. You know, I have a son who played football,
and I have a son that's a senior in high school.
I play now, and God forbid, but if anything like
that happened one time, that would be his fault. He

(26:07):
wouldn't be playing no more. But to see Tour continuously
go through this from a parents that point, I couldn't
even imagine how his parents feel. So going forward kind
of like what Antonio appears said, you know, you got
to tak your family, man. You gotta be that for them.
In the end, he's made a lot of money. He
got a lot of money guaranteed. Personally, I would say

(26:29):
it's time to hang them up because it's not a
I'm not a doctor, but it doesn't look like a
regular type of concussion, because I've seen people have concussions
and get up and walk it off and that type
of thing. But Tua almost looks I mean, he look
limped every time he gets a concussion, and that's not
a good sign man.

Speaker 8 (26:48):
And he's got a good fame.

Speaker 4 (26:50):
He's married too. I think he got married, but he's married. Yeah,
so you know his wife. It's tough on her.

Speaker 1 (26:56):
With two kids. Okay, Hey in Michigan, you're on the
couple of Fox sportsuiting.

Speaker 4 (27:02):
What's up? Dright?

Speaker 13 (27:03):
It was going on Fellers all y'all doing to day
doing great. I'm good bid man. I had to call
with this being Chris last week. Man, I'm something. Get
to my point. I just want to say, man, I
used to listen to Joe Madison aary not on my
way to work and one night he went to commercial breaking.
I changed the channel Man, that's the longest. That's the
longest commercial breaking industry.

Speaker 4 (27:21):
I went back later that he no doubt, thank you serious.

Speaker 13 (27:27):
I never did, man, I know we could. I know
that a couple gonna continue and I'm gonna continue to Listen,
the consideration could never be duplicated, will you guys? Being
for us through COVID, through all of the delights to say,
the insurrections and everything. You guys, I'm telling you, man,
y'all made it feel like we was part of a family.
You know what I'm saying. Whether it's Mark and Sacramento,
it's Marty in Kentucky, y'all shouting out g W when

(27:49):
he passed. Man, y'all make us feel like we're part
of something that's rare. You not gonna find out again.
I wish you must success. Chris Land my brother. Hey,
love you brother for real.

Speaker 3 (27:59):
Thank you, man, really appreciate that. That was a great word.
Thank you very much. All Right, we got one more? Yeah,
Obi in Los Angeles?

Speaker 1 (28:09):
We got a couple more, should say, ob in Los Angeles,
you're on the odd couple of Fox sportuaiting.

Speaker 8 (28:12):
What's up, Obie, afternoon, gentlemen.

Speaker 6 (28:14):
I just wanted to say that you guys are the
epitome of hard work breed success. Everybody knows your story,
mister Parker. Getting through withouting you with the old network,
you got up, brush yourself off and continued and now
you're successful. Mister Bissard, they tried to pigeonhole yous being
the basketball guy, but you grew and now you have

(28:36):
your show and you're going on to bigger and.

Speaker 8 (28:38):
Bear the things. Congratulations to both of you. Of course
you listening and we appreciate all the work and all
the stuff that you've brought to us. As far as
the tour goes, I believe that he should. I'm hoping
that the league steps in and says, Okay, you can't
play anymore, so he'll get all this money. That's the

(28:59):
best case scenario him is that somebody else steps in
so you can't play anymore and then he gets his
school guaranteed money. Yeah again to him, and I just
want to say again, thank you for all these guys doing.
You guys are great, best show ever and continue success
to two of you.

Speaker 1 (29:16):
Appreciate that, man, really, thank you. Ra Ahead, we got
one more more, Brian in Miami.

Speaker 4 (29:22):
Let's do that.

Speaker 1 (29:23):
Since he's down there in Miami too. You're in the
couple of Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 4 (29:26):
What's up beat Man, Rob.

Speaker 12 (29:29):
Chris has been an honor listening to you, guys, Chris Man,
It's it's been great having you on the show.

Speaker 6 (29:37):
Man.

Speaker 12 (29:37):
Both of you are going to be my uncles for life.

Speaker 3 (29:40):
Man, that right now, that's right, Thank you.

Speaker 12 (29:44):
This show is irreplaceable for me. But so good luck
on whatever whatever future endeavors you got, Chris, and so on, Tua.
The first thing when I saw the video, the first
thing I thought of was Chris. He you know, I
don't know if I want to pay two. I don't
know if he should get this money yet. I want
to see him healthy. And it wasn't just you know,

(30:06):
obviously prayers to him. I hope he's okay, but you
know he wasn't. You know, he was struggling before the injury,
and then the injury happens. And I think the difference
is that, you know, they've had neurologists on different networks
and stuff like that talk about how you know it's
easier for it to happen again, and you can see
that he just ran into demark Hamblin, right, He just

(30:29):
ran into him. So what happens is they cleared him
and he comes back and just by chance, a helmet's
a helmet happens, or it's third down, he gets sacked
by Chris Jones. Like that could be a much worse
situation than what.

Speaker 2 (30:42):
We saw now.

Speaker 4 (30:44):
You're absolutely right, and that's what we're talking about.

Speaker 3 (30:48):
Like, look, and one of there was an ex NFL player,
Daz Bryant, who tweeted out at you know a lot
of players tweeted stuff out and Das tweet that the
NFL is just step in and you know, basically not
let him play anymore.

Speaker 4 (31:06):
I don't.

Speaker 3 (31:07):
I mean, if if the doctors say it's it's to me,
it's not the NFL's decision.

Speaker 4 (31:11):
It's the doctors and independent Chris.

Speaker 1 (31:15):
They're not going to do the right thing anyway. If
they were doing the right thing, they'd have great benefits
of medical stuff for the players. They wouldn't be forcing
an eighteenth game if this was the NFL looking out
for the players now. So don't look for them to
decide now that they want to help the players. I
just don't buy into that.

Speaker 3 (31:36):
I don't think it's there. Like if he if he
is cleared. If Tua is cleared by doctors, now the
doctors to me, it's.

Speaker 4 (31:45):
On them, But I want independent doctors.

Speaker 3 (31:48):
I agree, and I would imagine he'll definitely have some
independent doctors. But the independent doctors look at him and
if they clear him. I don't think the NFL should
be able to say no, you can't, you can't play.

Speaker 4 (32:05):
I don't think that should be their call.

Speaker 3 (32:07):
If he wants to play and he's cleared, he should
be able to play. I think we know it's a
there's sports ride we know are dangerous. We know in
the blink of an eye, somebody's life could be changed. NASCAR, boxing,
mm A football, I mean some of these sports are dangerous.

Speaker 1 (32:26):
Yeah, And I just think there's a you gotta be kept.
There's a legal thing. You can't stop someone from earning
a living, especially Chris. He would be able to suit
the NFL if he was cleared by doctors. So I
think that there is that you just can't naterally decide,
you know what I mean, Like they'd have to be
like their doctors would have to say this is not

(32:47):
you know what I mean, where they then say it's
gonna be like doctors saying that to the NFL, this
is not good. He should get all of his money,
you know what I mean, and and and tell his
kid to move on with his life because this football
is just not for him.

Speaker 4 (33:02):
And that's what it would have to be. Those would
have to be the option.

Speaker 1 (33:05):
So this way, you couldn't really be sued, Chris if
he got all of his money, you see.

Speaker 4 (33:09):
What I'm saying? Like that, like that would be the only.

Speaker 3 (33:11):
Way that the NFL could stop him from playing ROGI
you had a question, yeah, just quickly.

Speaker 16 (33:16):
So we saw earlier today Monte tay mantiitaa who knows him,
has known him he was like five years old, both
form wide to have famously said this offseason that his
mom was the one who actually wanted him to retire
this past offseason or before the last offseason. The question,
I guess because you guys, I think we all think
that for safety wise, it looks like his body's probably

(33:37):
not built for football. How much of this do you
think is just the competitor him wanting to play and
wanting to keep going. And how much of it is
if I walk away willingly, I'm giving up one hundred
and twenty million dollars I.

Speaker 3 (33:50):
Think it's totally the competitor because he's still going to
have made over one hundred million dollars playing football.

Speaker 4 (34:00):
Rob G.

Speaker 1 (34:01):
I'm with you that I think, like, you don't quit
you I would if I have to not play, I
want the league or the team to tell me that
I'm not.

Speaker 4 (34:11):
Playing, you know what I mean?

Speaker 1 (34:12):
And then Chris, after they say that to me, then
I can say, Okay, I'm not playing. I don't think
you're the first one to run out to say, oh, yeah,
I'm quitting, I'm gonna retire.

Speaker 4 (34:22):
I just I don't think that that's.

Speaker 1 (34:23):
Smart because you might get information that comes back from
the doctors, Chris, that that concur with that, and then
you get your money.

Speaker 4 (34:31):
You see what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (34:32):
Well, and I think he should say like, even if
I don't like, if he doesn't want to play anymore,
whether it's his mom's feelings, his wife's feelings, his own feelings,
then I don't think the money should be the defining factor.
Now that said, I would go to the Dolphins and
my agent and obviously go to him and try to

(34:54):
get the whole one sixty seven. And if they want
to play hardball, then may be you know, you stay
around and you may not even play, but you you
don't retire, you know, for you know, So I get that,
but I just think at the end of the day,
he's still gonna have well over one hundred million dollars.

Speaker 4 (35:13):
I hope he gets the whole one sixty seven.

Speaker 3 (35:15):
So I understand where you guys are coming from, but
I just think he's got to do what he's got
he wants to do, regardless of the money, because either way,
he's wealthy. All right, more our couple coming your way.
We're gonna move on to Caleb Williams. Looking to bounce
back this weekend.

Speaker 4 (35:31):

Mary Mary on the screen singing Mary who sings this?

Speaker 4 (36:19):
Mary my son? Let's keep it that. Let's keep it
that way.

Speaker 3 (36:24):
You fo rude and I want I walked right in.
Rob's never not falling for that. I probably got Rob
on that I knew.

Speaker 4 (36:37):
Well, yeah, well, because Chris has the same jokes.

Speaker 3 (36:39):
That's Oh, I wonder who I get that from?

Speaker 5 (36:45):
All all I know, Rob G. Calvin hasn't heard all
these jokes that I have. Yeah, you should have saved
I show my head yesterday.

Speaker 3 (36:59):
So we I guess let's do shekels Sey. Let's do
it a get out real quick. It's like tim and
that's all we're gonna have time for.

Speaker 4 (37:07):
All right.

Speaker 1 (37:08):
Here we go three baseball games. Shekel City won in
one last night. Chris, I'll total for the September of
the free start of the Checko City clock eleven and
six in the seventeen games.

Speaker 4 (37:20):
Here we go.

Speaker 1 (37:21):
Astro's best bet minus one and a half runs during
Anaheim taking on the Angels, I got the Twins minus
one and a half runs. They're hosting the Reds in Minneapolis,
and I'm taking the Cubs minus one and a half.
They're in Denver taking on the Rockies. So Cubs minus
one and a half, Twins minus one and a half,

(37:41):
and the Astros minus one and a half. And remember,
I'm not telling you who to bet on. I'm telling
you who I'm betting on. And eleven is six to
start September is pretty good, Pretty good?

Speaker 4 (37:52):
All right?

Speaker 3 (37:53):
So Rob, we're talking about two of there might be
conflicting reports. I had been told he would get ninety
three million if he walks away himself.

Speaker 4 (38:02):
Rogie, you're saying there are other reports out there.

Speaker 16 (38:04):
Yes, spot Track, which is the one that's commonly new used.
Now again, I don't know people actually saw this contract yet,
but according to people at spot track, to his deal
included the one sixty seven fully guaranteed for injury. Forty
three million of it has already been paid this season.
If he's medically clear to return the football, Cordner to
spot Track, and he opts to retire on his own,
he will forego the remaining one hundred and twenty four

(38:26):
million unless they get some kind of special settlement, Chris,
like you alluded to. Yeah, if he's medically forced to
retirement though then he gets all of it.

Speaker 3 (38:34):
He's gotta get a settlement, Like I, I don't want
him to just leave after this much money. Yeah, it'd
be one thing ninety There's a big difference between one
sixty seven and ninety three.

Speaker 4 (38:47):
One sixty seven and what nothing else. Just I guess
forty or whatever. It would be forty three roughly so huge.
Chris knows right.

Speaker 1 (38:54):
That would be like the difference between working at Fox
Sports Rado and first thing first, you know what I mean?

Speaker 4 (39:00):
Like, man, I wish believe I'm just all right. It's
the hoe come.

Speaker 3 (39:04):
We got two hours left on the Funky Flashback Friday.
Y'all keep it locked.

Speaker 4 (39:08):
