feeling good man, feeling good.
Speaker 1 (01:39):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (01:40):
First off, shout out to the people who really been
listening to us thus far. And you know it's funny too,
because I haven't, uh, you know, stepped away from the
sports just as far as radio for a little bit.
I forgot people like to carry on conversations Rob, that
you and I talk about right for the next two
three days.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
Oh yeah, I'm still getting that.
Speaker 4 (01:56):
I wake up, leave it alone. They're like, I can't
believe you say it. I'm like, that was like Monday, Monday.
It doesn't shouts to everybody who's who's still having these
conversations that we've been having. By the way, don't you
like when sometimes God acts as if he is CP
three Prime Jason Kidd and just throws you a magic
Johnson Alley oop?
Speaker 3 (02:17):
That's what we just got, Rob Hark.
Speaker 1 (02:18):
Sure if we walked in here and none other than
show Hey Otani, who's having this unbelievable day in Miami
five for five seven RBIs just hit his fiftieth home run.
He has fifty one stolen bases, first player in baseball
history to ever do fifty. I don't like the way
you set that up and we're gonna talk about it
(02:39):
in a minute. But first let's welcome in the Odd
Couple crew, because we wouldn't be able to do this
find radio program without him.
Speaker 3 (02:46):
Rob g of course as our producer.
Speaker 1 (02:48):
Alex is our engineer, Mister Steve de Seger is at.
Speaker 3 (02:52):
The anchor desk.
Speaker 1 (02:53):
He'll keep us updated throughout the program, and Elijah is
our social media guru. And man, what a show we
have for you, especially we're gonna talk about show.
Speaker 3 (03:04):
Hey, but Michael Lombardi yep, will be at the.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
Bottom of the hour in about the twenty six minutes,
so we'll talk to him. We got a very special
shop talk today where Calvin and I will sing Me, Me,
Me, Me Me good times but with the original lyrics, and
we want to know if you think.
Speaker 3 (03:25):
It's racist, you're not gonna be well.
Speaker 4 (03:28):
I was gonna say they're not gonna believe it, but
then again they would have believed it because, hey, the
timing of that show came out, we know where America was,
so it's not too far forward to.
Speaker 1 (03:37):
Do that in the second hour. So you want to
be there for that shop talk, And of course it's
a Thursday Tyshrets Tower of Trivia that comes up in
our number three. But let's get right to it. Show
Hail tany he's done it, and I'm gonna say.
Speaker 4 (03:52):
Oh something here we here, hold on, let me just
are you ready for this?
Speaker 3 (03:55):
Brace mane?
Speaker 4 (03:56):
So let me turn around look at you, because it's
about to be blasphemous.
Speaker 3 (03:59):
No, no, it's not.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
I mean he has the right. No one's ever done it.
He's just cemented that he's going to win the National
League MVP. It all counts. No one's saying that he
didn't do it. He's put in the work and this
is the situation that's in. But let's just call it
what it is, Okay, show Hayes fifty to fifty and
now he's got fifty home runs, fifty one stolen bases.
(04:21):
Its fool gayzy, Calvin, It's fool gayzy.
Speaker 3 (04:26):
It is not real from this standpoint. The basers are
too big.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
He's sliding in the pizza boxes at second base. They're
closer at first, right, the bag is bigger and closer
at second. That's why no one's ever had fifty to fifty.
Because last year I said the same thing about Ronald
Lacuna junior when he had seventy some odd stolen bases.
Imagine if Ricky Henderson and some of you are Lou
Brock and some of the great bat Ricky Henderson might
(04:55):
have had two hundred stolen bases, you can only throw
over twice. I mean, Away has a ninety two percent
steel rate. Two percent. That's ridiculous. So all I'm saying
is he's a great player. I'm not ordering the pooh
pooh platter as far as him and saying he's not
(05:17):
great because he's a great player. But this fifty to
fifty is tainted and Fugaysey, I'm sorry.
Speaker 4 (05:26):
So first off, you're the first thing you said was
fifty to fifty, so you can't just leave out the
other portion of it, meaning, Okay, he gets fifty one
stolen bases, but he only gets thirty two home runs
or or vice versa. The fact that he's able to
do both of these shows how ridiculous he is coming
off injury. And I know it's not injury necessarily that
it affects him but hitting and running. But he's coming
off injury, he's on a new team and he's doing
(05:49):
something no one else has ever done. You gotta give
the man credit for that. I will conceive the basis.
I mean, there's no way around that. The bases are
absolutely big.
Speaker 1 (05:56):
Does to give him an advantage, Yeah, it's a Disadv's
the same other thousands of people in baseball and advantage
and he's the only one doing it. Yes, But other
guys we had earlier this year, Elie de la Cruz
was on pace to steal one hundred bases and it
slowed down big time.
Speaker 4 (06:12):
But he was on pace. But he was that okay
to do that. Mind you still on pace it fifty
home runs. Dela Cruz was not at all.
Speaker 3 (06:20):
I get that.
Speaker 1 (06:21):
The fifty to fifty I'm saying, I'm not pooh poohing it.
Speaker 3 (06:25):
He he did it.
Speaker 1 (06:26):
He's the first player is gonna go into the record books.
Everybody's gonna remember that he was the first player to
ever do it. All that, But you can't look at
this honestly and not discount the stolen based part.
Speaker 3 (06:39):
If you have regular basis regularly, okay, where is he
with regular bases, then thirty some odd you know what
I mean, and that and still would be great.
Speaker 4 (06:48):
I think it'd be higher than that just because of
his willingness to do it. A lot of players aren't
willing to do it like they used to. You mentioned
Ricky Henderson back in the you know, if you want
to go to the seventies, eighties guys or that was
a part of the game, right, try to get runs.
I create runs now. We talked about this. Everything is
swinging this and it's okay. I sit next to no
(07:09):
mar Garcia, par my guy, Jay Harrison, Jerry Harrison Junior.
I sit next to Dontrell Willis. You sit all these
guys and they just talk about like they watch in amazement,
like this didn't happen when we were back in the day.
You can be batting one seventy and it's okay because
all we're hoping is that you get a home run.
So my point is, uh, this guy, and you can
(07:29):
do this with any any record. We can go back
and say, well, they didn't shoot threes back like that
back Earth, they didn't pass the ball like that. It does,
They didn't stuff you don't think it does.
Speaker 3 (07:40):
It does.
Speaker 4 (07:40):
But my point is, you still, and I think we
have learned enough that you still can appreciate and show
love for an era.
Speaker 1 (07:46):
Right, I appreciate it him as a player and what
he's been able to do by taking advantage of the circumstances.
Baseball two years ago decided that they wanted to get
more stolen bases because it had become a stationary a
strikeout or home run.
Speaker 3 (08:02):
So I understood what they were trying to do.
Speaker 1 (08:05):
All I'm saying when I'm starting to see these base
stealing numbers and guys are stealing at an incredible rate.
Speaker 3 (08:11):
If this was a normal rate.
Speaker 1 (08:14):
Rob g of three years ago, what the stolen base
rate was for most players. Catchers have no shot at
throwing out anybody who has speed because it's a disadvantage.
Pitcher throws over twice, you know he's not coming again.
I'll take another step off, and then I'm sliding into
an extra large pepperoni pizza with extra cheese.
Speaker 4 (08:36):
I'm not disagreeing with that, because you literally can't disagree
with The bases are as factual. They are bigger. Look
how big they are the only thing I will congre
I guess where my mind is. Yes, the bases are
bigger factual. However, if you're still the only person doing something,
I gotta give you love, y'all. At the same opportunity
to still the same amount of bases as me. Right, Obviously,
some guy has more. Guys have more, but you also
(08:58):
have the same at bats to get his any home
runs is me. You also get to show up every
night like he does, like I just appreciate what the
guy is doing. And it's not the nineteen nineties home
run chase, but at least you got something to watch
baseball for, like, oh, keep an eye on a tracker,
a ticker. I do my news show here in LA
and this morning we got some augmented cool reality. I
point to the numbers and it switches as he hits
(09:19):
a home run and gets a stolen base. So I'm saying,
I guess I'm in more of a celebratory mode, because
let's call it what it is. If oftentimes baseball isn't
what I know, you'd feel differently. You're a massive, massive
baseball fan, grew up with it, you love it. But
you are also until seventy million tickets. But it's not
a conversation watching. Don't disagree with the fact that hey
(09:42):
want to go to the ballgame, sure, but it's not
a hot button conversation outside of a couple of places
New York.
Speaker 3 (09:47):
Okay, I get it.
Speaker 4 (09:48):
With the Yankees a couple other places, people don't just
casually talk about you live in LA, they casually talk
about the Lakers. They talk about the Dodgers here because
but if you go to other cities, that's not normal.
He just has a barbershop or the casual conversation. You
might have a conversation with your friend who is a
Dodger friend, but you don't just do it at the
elevator with a guy who's getting in there. Point is,
(10:08):
this was at least something cool to at least spark
and have another conversation in baseball. I think it's a
win win. He actually did it. Folks were talking about it,
and they went crazy in here when he did it.
Rogie and I are out there talking about the show.
Everybody goes crazy. I thought, was another earthquake?
Speaker 3 (10:23):
Is something? Well this dog? This is Dodger fan Central.
Are you kidding? Everybody in his place loves the Dodgers
and I get it. Uh, they're a story franchise and show.
Speaker 1 (10:33):
Hey, everybody knew when he came to the Dodgers this
was gonna be big for the Dodgers.
Speaker 3 (10:37):
And uh, isn't that cool delivered. Yeah, no, you know
how that happens.
Speaker 1 (10:41):
Rob.
Speaker 4 (10:41):
I'm especially a hundred million dollars, especially in baseball because guys,
as we talked about Wan Soto yesterday, you get Albert
Pool hosts and he comes to teams and he's good,
but he's not the Albert Pool host you thought you
were gonna get. You signed Wan Sodo Padres Okay eventually
got back to some pretty good form, but he wasn't
what you thought you're gonna get to me. It's also
very very cool that he lived up to the hype
(11:03):
on a big time team in a big city and
he's doing it in a major way. And every time
he's supposed to show up, he does, Oh you're playing
the Angels first? That back home run? Oh is he
gonna do it on this big, you know, big National
game home run? Like he shows up every time he's
supposed to World Series, World Baseball Classic, Mike trouts up
my teammate to strike him out, like he shows up.
Speaker 1 (11:26):
So I'm listen, I won't let you pull me down,
Ron Parker. I'm just telling you most people are gonna
be with me. That is foo gazy.
Speaker 3 (11:35):
That dude.
Speaker 1 (11:35):
You gotta look at it, like like, if I put
my hand.
Speaker 3 (11:38):
On it, I probably have to wash it if I was,
if you were, if shoe.
Speaker 1 (11:42):
Hey was handing me a bill right from his wallet,
it would probably be a three dollar bill.
Speaker 3 (11:47):
It's just something that just doesn't feel right now. It's
a two dollar bill.
Speaker 4 (11:50):
It's rare, and it's kind of cool to see it
ain't a hundred dollars bill where you say, who it's
a two dollar bill.
Speaker 3 (11:56):
It's how this is pretty cool? You know what? It's
like an be a b anthony. When's the last time
you got one of those? Right, B anthony quarter? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (12:04):
Like, oh, doll dollar dollar. It's like, oh, that's pretty cool.
That's what it is. It's pretty cool. It's not the
greatest thing ever. It isn't Barry Bonds twenty years ago,
and it isn't the home run race of the late nineties,
but it was pretty freaking cool.
Speaker 3 (12:15):
Don't poop pull on this man's moment, all right?
Speaker 1 (12:17):
Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven,
nine nine, six sixty three sixty nine show, heyl Tany
He's done it. First guy to fifty to fifty more
fifty home run up, He's done it. Fifty one RBI.
I mean fifty one stolen bases, fifty home runs, fifty
one RBI, first player in baseball history.
Speaker 4 (12:40):
But there's a little butt to it, you, NICKI mina
size But but what are you acting? I'm just saying
Magdae Stallion.
Speaker 1 (12:50):
But it is a Magda Stallion butt because that the
base is about the size of her butt, and that's
what makes it easy for show hey to be able
to steal all those bases.
Speaker 3 (13:02):
And it's real, simple, Is it real? We're talking about
megam staying his butt or fugeze? No, no, no, that's real.
That's real.
Speaker 1 (13:11):
Okay, that's real, show hail Todi, real simple. Are you
buying into the fifteen to fifty club?
Speaker 3 (13:18):
We'll call it? Yes?
Speaker 1 (13:20):
Is it real and you have no issues with it?
Or is it fugazy? Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox,
It is The Odd Couple Rob Parker, Kelvin Washington on
a TV theme song Thursday.
Speaker 3 (13:33):
So you know what you need to do. You need
to stick and stay America.

Speaker 5 (13:49):
Hey, we're Cavino and Rich Fox Sports Radio every day
five to seven pm Eastern.
Speaker 3 (13:54):
But here's the thing.
Speaker 5 (13:55):
We never have enough time to get to everything we
want to get to.
Speaker 6 (13:58):
And that's why we have a brand new podcast called
over Promised. You see, we're having so much fun in
our two hour show. We never get to everything, honestly,
because this guy is over promising things we never have
time for. Yeah, you blubber list name in me.
Speaker 5 (14:12):
Well you know what it's called over promise. You should
be good at it because you've been over promising women
for years.
Speaker 6 (14:17):
Well, it's a Covino and Rich after show, and we
want you to be a part of it. We're gonna
be talking sports, of course, but we're also gonna talk
life and relationships. And if Rich and I are arguing
about something or we didn't have enough time, it will
continue on our after show called over Promised.
Speaker 5 (14:31):
Well, if you don't get enough Covino and Rich, make
sure you check out over Promised and also Uncensored, by
the way, so maybe we'll go at it even a
little harder. It's gonna be the best after show podcast
of all time.
Speaker 6 (14:41):
There you go over promising. Remember you could see on YouTube,
but definitely join us. Listen Over Promised with Cavino and
Rich on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you
get your podcasts, Fox.
Speaker 4 (14:53):
Sports Radio, The Odd Couple with Rob Parker Kelvin Washington
on a TV theme song Thursday, Boy, we got some
you can form a little bit later on. Let me
test something like a record about nothing. This is the
Fostolen basis, Alex, watch your team up like that playing
this one. You know he was gonna say something like that.
Speaker 3 (15:10):
Well, I also love this show. There you go, best
one made this show. Yeah, we're not doing this right now.
Why do not get to the phone calls. We can
have a conversation to debate about.
Speaker 4 (15:18):
Tell me what's your favorite show? Then, well, my favorite
there's a difference. My favorite is Martin. But I would
acknowledge if the Aliens fell to Earth and they said,
give me a sitcom, just one that I can say
to everyone in the rest of the universe, Well, they're
already here, yeah, and facts and everyone will be happy.
I think it's The Fresh Prince because I think it's
not the funniest, but you get funny.
Speaker 3 (15:40):
Heart Humor Family. I think it's the best.
Speaker 4 (15:42):
Like I would send that off and say, hey, okay,
this will this would work for somebody.
Speaker 3 (15:49):
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (15:50):
I feel like Seinfeld is based on nothing, and it's
such an accomplishment to make a show on nothing.
Speaker 3 (15:54):
It was very fun.
Speaker 4 (15:55):
But if I'm also saying Alex, I feel like you
would leave out a large group of people who just
didn't get it. I feel like Fresh Prince is a
really good pizza. Everybody's happy, that's fair. It's a cheese pizza.
Speaker 3 (16:04):
It's a maybe.
Speaker 4 (16:05):
Pepperoni can at least get over arone. People don't like
mead okay, a tofu Pepperoni. We just didn't know what tofu?
How about that?
Speaker 3 (16:13):
All right?
Speaker 4 (16:14):
So TV Themes song Thursday, Robin, I got something coming
up for you in just a bit, coming to you
live from the ti rack dot com studios are thanks
to Rapid Radios, the official communication device of Fox Sports Radio.
And Rapid Radios are instant push to talkualkie talkies, offering

(16:35):

com now for up to sixty percent off and free

the fifty to fifty club has been passed by Shohel Tani.
He is bawling out fourteen to three Dodgers over the Marlins.
Speaker 1 (16:50):
We wanted to know, real or foul gazey. Let's start
with Marty in Kentucky. You're in the odd couple of
Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (16:57):
What up, Marty?
Speaker 7 (17:00):
So Evin?
Speaker 3 (17:01):
Hey, what's up? Mardy?
Speaker 8 (17:03):
I gotta get used to that.
Speaker 3 (17:05):
It is, Chris, no doubt, it's okay, Yep.
Speaker 8 (17:09):
You did it great though, Just gotta get you to.
Speaker 3 (17:12):
You know what. That's all I asked for. I appreciate it, Marty.
Speaker 8 (17:15):
Well, it seems like you sepped in. Chris is a
place where I tend to agree with you a lot.
So I'm gonna go ahead, and morning your rock's probably
gonna interrupt me for that.
Speaker 3 (17:25):
You already know I am. Go ahead, Marty.
Speaker 8 (17:29):
I do not think it's too gayzy. I think it's amazing.
I understand that he that he has a better chance
to do it because of the changes. I don't like
to compare now and then I just want to look
at what a guy can do now compared to the
current players now, and he stands out even with his
elbow injury and not being able to pick, he finds
(17:50):
a way to stand out. And if you want to
be through gazing with Rob Parker, I believe likes to
be Thugezy likes to see things to gaze. You can't
about just about anything. You can go back to. Let's
say Roger marriage is sixty one. He had mantle hidden
behind him. It was only thirteen fourteen years after integrating.
(18:11):
The league was still eighty three percent white. You can
you can look at things.
Speaker 1 (18:14):
I agree, great point, Mark, Marty, I agree, But you
must believe a ninety two percent stolen based raid has
something to do with the basis.
Speaker 3 (18:24):
Can you can you give me that? Can you give
me that? Okay, I'll give you that.
Speaker 7 (18:28):
There's always something too gayzy. We go back to the.
Speaker 8 (18:30):
Steroid era, all those I mean that's too gaysy. I
mean we anything before this stepdude Hill is gayzy.
Speaker 1 (18:38):
I mean all right, Marty, I got you, I got you.
I don't agree with you. Appreciate the call. Marank you
eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox. How about Aaron
in the Inland Empire here in California.
Speaker 3 (18:51):
You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Aaron?
Speaker 9 (18:53):
Hey, what's up?
Speaker 8 (18:54):
Fellaws?
Speaker 9 (18:54):
I just want to say, you just got to play
what's in front of you. The bases are what they are.
We don't judge, judge, no pun intended with this short
wall out there in right field.
Speaker 3 (19:05):
Yeah, but he's not He's not only hitting home runs.
And yet say the man talk.
Speaker 9 (19:10):
Let the man talk. There's a lot of records that
are out there. Or we are we knocking the wide
receivers when it's a passing league when they're breaking these
records are scoring.
Speaker 1 (19:21):
Yeah, but at least you can acknowledge that they didn't
throw the ball like they throw it.
Speaker 3 (19:25):
Now, can we do that? I don't have to say anything.
I'm just letting them talk.
Speaker 8 (19:28):
We can.
Speaker 9 (19:29):
But it's hard to take anything from you when you
call Tom Brady the.
Speaker 3 (19:33):
Loap the LOOKI is of all time.
Speaker 7 (19:35):
That's hard to take you serious, Rob Man. A guys,
have a great.
Speaker 3 (19:39):
Day, Aaron, appreciate the call. Rob. This is amazing that
I actually, you.
Speaker 4 (19:43):
Know, this is free money because I get to just
sit here and hear people understand that I'm spitting facts
right now, So they go take another call.
Speaker 3 (19:50):
Where do you want to go? Brad?
Speaker 1 (19:51):
In South Dakota. You're in the eyd couple of Fox
Sports Radio. What's up, Brad?
Speaker 8 (19:56):
Hey? What's going on? Guys?
Speaker 5 (20:00):
My?
Speaker 7 (20:00):
My biggest issue, I guess is because Rob is poo
poo and the fifty fifty. What other fifty home run
player could have actually stolen fifty bases even if they
were bigger?
Speaker 3 (20:13):
Now, no, he's a base dealer.
Speaker 1 (20:14):
I'm giving you that, but can you at least acknowledge
that the bases are way big? That's all I'm saying
is are they they are not seventy ninety two success rate?
Speaker 3 (20:26):
They are?
Speaker 7 (20:27):
They are, they are bigger.
Speaker 8 (20:28):
But what fifty home run hitter would have actually stolen
fifty bases?
Speaker 7 (20:32):
No?
Speaker 1 (20:32):
I get, I get that he's a base dealer, but
I'm saying that that had something to do with it.
That's all you go back. I can't remember exactly what
year was. It was a year when Eric Davis was
on his.
Speaker 7 (20:43):
Way to I was gonna say that.
Speaker 1 (20:46):
All right, and that was and that was with the
regular bases and everything like that. He was I get that, okay,
And now I can look at that during that time
and say, man, that.
Speaker 3 (20:53):
Was gonna product. Can ask you a question. Sure did
he get done? No?
Speaker 4 (20:57):
D all right, so let's keep going. So the fact that,
by the way, if you want.
Speaker 2 (21:00):
To know, also because also because judge judge connections steal
basis two and.
Speaker 3 (21:04):
He no, he ain't a base deal of like a t.
Speaker 4 (21:07):
And that's all I'm saying, Rob, thank you for the call,
is that he did it. Everyone else had the same opportunity,
the same pizza box sized bases, and they didn't get
it done. So you gotta show some love to show hey,
o Tony, That's all I'm saying, Rob. By the way,
scores is getting out of the line. Starting to look
like a football scorer. Seventeen to three looks like the
Rams beating up on the dollins.
Speaker 3 (21:26):
Believe my goodness, gracious all.
Speaker 4 (21:28):
Right, coming up, we're gonna have Michael Lombardi join us,
three times Super Bowl winning NFL exec and hosts of
the Morning Line. We're gonna talk some football here. We
got Thursday night football coming up in just a bit.
Speaker 2 (21:37):

Speaker 4 (21:48):
All right, we're coming to you live from the tire
rack dot com studios. Right now joining us is Michael Lombardi,
three times Super Bowl winning NFL exec hosts of the
Morning Line on v send. Make sure you fall in
Lombardi NFL on Twitter or X. I should say, hey, Mike,
what's happening? How are you say hi to Kelvin?
Speaker 7 (22:06):
There's my guy, Kelvin. God bless you, God bless.
Speaker 3 (22:11):
I need all the prayers, Mike. You already know, Mike.
Speaker 1 (22:13):
But let's start here before we get into some football.
You got a new radio show on VSON right on
in the morning.
Speaker 7 (22:19):
Yeah, we do a VSENT morning show from seven to ten,
Grace Friendly ten, Harrison, Sam for and I kind of
start off talking a lot of football, talking all sports
of the betting Line on VSON. So yeah, tune in.
It's you're sleeping, but it's it's good. We cover a
lot of bases and one thing, you know, Rob, I'm
going to tell the truth. I don't hold back.
Speaker 1 (22:38):
No, that's the best part. That's why we have a
bond together because the man.
Speaker 3 (22:42):
Well he's tell the truth. You're not what I am.
Speaker 1 (22:45):
Kelvin is mad because I said that the show Hayes
fifty one fifty one is a little foogezy because of
the basis.
Speaker 3 (22:52):
But that's another story. No waste time. Okay, all right,
let's go.
Speaker 1 (22:55):
Here, Mike, Let's start with the quarter I want to
I want to ask you about the Bryce Young benching.
Speaker 3 (23:02):
And going to Andy Dalton.
Speaker 1 (23:03):
I mean, there's a lot of issues there in Carolina
offensive line, weapons and all kinds of other stuff.
Speaker 3 (23:10):
But as Bryce Young shown you anything to make you believe.
Speaker 1 (23:13):
That it'll turn around in the right situation for him.
Speaker 7 (23:17):
Well, I mean, I don't think any young quarterback shows
you anything. I mean, for example, Bryce Young has really
not played well, but it's not all been his fault.
I mean, I think there's circumstances that come to it.
For example, you know, his rookie year was a disaster,
and then this year they hired Dave Canalis, who really
was overlooked quite often in Seattle. Pete Carroll never promoted
(23:37):
him to be the offensive coordinator. He left to go
to Tampa, and then he got a head coaching job
after one year of being a coordinator in the league.
Kind of remarkable jump. And then they spent all off
season telling us how they're going to fix Bryce Young.
They don't play him in the preseason until the last
game when everybody's playing is going to get cut. Then
they give him really two games and they cut him. Now, look,
the kid converted two for third downs out of twenty
(23:59):
two tempts. But I'll ask feel to you, how many
third downs is Patrick Mahomes converted this year?
Speaker 3 (24:04):
My guest, the way you put it, I'm gonna say
really long one.
Speaker 7 (24:07):
He's five. He's converted five. So wow, like like it's
been a hard lead to throw the ball in. I mean, look,
Kayleb Williams has been a disaster. You guys are in
Los Angeles. He hasn't played well. He's the worst quarterback
historically since twenty sixteen against the Blitz. He hasn't been
able to throw a touchdown pass. He's running for his life.
The Bears don't protect them. So there's a lot of
(24:28):
circumstances around quarterbacks. And which is so ironic is Baker
Mayfield and Sam Darnold from the same draft are finally
playing well after all these years, right, you know, so
I think it's too early to judge, but look, this
organization in Carolina has been a disaster. And my question
is who's making these decisions, Like who's an expert on
football in that building that really understands who's good and
(24:50):
who's not well.
Speaker 1 (24:52):
It sounds like this is the owners running a store
like a mom and pop shop. Let me, I just
want to piggyback on this. The Patrick Mahomes and we
saw it last year a lot of I played well
in the playoffs and they won a super Bowl, so
people forget about the regular season. And this year has
been a little bit of a struggle as well. The
regular seasons have not been great. Last year, really, he had.
Speaker 3 (25:13):
Like sixteen or seventeen interceptions. What are we watching now?
Speaker 7 (25:17):
This is worse because this is so far this year
is his worst quarterback rating by a long shot, you know.
And look, he's makes great plays and he's a great player,
but now losing Projeco makes it harder for him. And look,
Kelsey can't hasn't done anything. Kelsey's under ten yards a catch.
I mean, that's not any good. You can't win with
the under ten yards a catch. So they're going through
a change right now. I think he's really worried about
his left tackle position, which we all were. I mean,
(25:40):
they did not sign back their left tackle last year,
Donovan Smith, who wasn't playing very good last year, which
was a good decision not to. But the problem is
they drafted a kid from BYU I can't say his
name in the second round and he was a disaster.
Hendrickson made him look like a fool, which often happens
to rookie and then they put the second year player
Moses in and beat He got torched. And whenever a
(26:02):
quarterback knows he's not getting protection, his eye level comes down,
he starts to panic. We see that with Jalen Hurts.
I mean, Jalen Hurts is the most protected quarterback in
the league, has more time to throw, based on the stats,
than any quarterback in the league, and yet he runs
down the pocket at an alarming rate. So there's a
sense of comfort the quarterback has to have with the protection.
(26:22):
Even when he's protected, Hurts is running out and for Mahomes,
he's worried about it. He can move around and make plays. Look,
he's a great player. I'm sure he'll get better as
the year goes on, but right now, his numbers are
well below his standard.
Speaker 4 (26:34):
We are joined by Michael Lombardi, of course, three times
Super Bowl winning NFL exec Michael, let me ask you this.
I'm looking around, we talk about the NFL and a
lot of these young quarterbacks aren't doing well at all.
And we're going to have this conversation here in just
a bit, but I wanted to get your thoughts on it.
The idea of historically, you get a young guy, you
sit him down a little bit, sits behind a veteran quarterback.
(26:55):
Maybe the veteran quarterback's good, maybe he's great, but the
fact is they wait their turn a bit. We're seeing
all these young guys get straight in there. You mentioned
Kayleb Williams, who we all know is talented, but he's
getting beat down, roughed up. Where do you come out
on this? Are you on the side of waiting let
him to develop? Because I'm looking at this game right now.
Jacobe Prissett, proven veteran, just a quarterback, you know, nothing great,
(27:15):
but proven veteran.
Speaker 3 (27:16):
And then you have Drake May just sitting behind him.
Speaker 4 (27:19):
Are you more of a put him in the fire
seat we got guy, or a hey, I'm gonna sit
down and let you sit and watch and learn and grow.
Speaker 7 (27:25):
Well, until the offensive line is good, you really can't
evaluate him. I mean, look, that's what happens to the
Chicago Bears. They became they became an All Madden team.
You know, all they wanted to do was sign skill play.
They sign a running back who's a nickel running back.
They sign a receiver and kay and trade for Keenan Allen.
Just pay him twenty three million dollars a year to
be a slot receiver. Last week they threw the ball
de Andre Carter, who was a free agent for no
(27:48):
money at all, and he had just as good as
numbers as Keenan Allen did. And then of course you
know they say pay Dj Moore. They ignore their offensive
line all off season. They have no physicality, they can't.
They average under three yards per cap So if you
don't have a good line, how do you evaluate the quarterback? Mean,
Detroit took Jared Goff. Now, look, Jared Goff. We all
know who Jared Goff is. When Jared Goff's protected, he's good.
(28:09):
When Jared Goff has to move right or left, he's
not as good. And so the Lions protect him and
now he looks like, oh my god, he's a really
good player, and they paid him like one. He deserved it.
But the reality of it is, if you can't protect
the quarterback, you got no chance. And some of these
teams pay no attention Miami for Tua, he's been a
concussion protocol. They have no offensive lineman. If he doesn't
(28:29):
get rid of the ball in two point two seconds,
he's going to get hit. They're trying to play Tron
Armstead at left tackle. He gets hurt every other play.
I mean, so it's a problem. If you don't fix
the line, you can't fix the quarterback. So my sense
of it is is, look, let the young kids watch.
Do you put Drake May out there. It'd be a disaster.
It would be a disaster because the game moves way
too fast. It's why bo Nix is struggling. Bo Nix's
(28:52):
you know, he's got four interceptions, no touchdowns. He struggles.
You can see how he's pressing with the game. The
game's moving too fastill it slows down until he understands
what the coverages are. Because it's not as simple as
it was in college. It's hard for those guys to play.
Speaker 4 (29:07):
Hey I want to ask you this. You just mentioned
two real quick, Michael, You're you're the exec. You're part
of this team, the Dolphins. Let's say you were. What
do you do do you have? What conversations are you
having with this with this young player.
Speaker 7 (29:20):
I'm not having any of them. I'm just gonna tell
him that, Look, whatever he wants to do, we support them.
But I'm going to damn make damn sure I get
a quarterback because look, I can't predict when it could
happen again. I don't have a crystal ball, but it
could happen again. The chances are probably probably. And part
of a job of a general manager, the main job
of a general manager is to think of the worst
thing that could happen. That's your job is what what
(29:43):
have I missed? What's wrong with my team? What do
I need to do? And if I'm chriskier, I'm going
to draft a wall I'm gonna draft a quarterback. I
don't care that I pay to all this money, because
right now two is one more hit away from never
playing football again. In fact, he may not. That's not
up to me to decide. That's up to the young
man to decide. But to me to pret franchise. I'm
gonna have to get a quarterback.
Speaker 1 (30:02):
His name is Michael Lombardi. Appreciate you, my man, Thank
you so much for yourself.
Speaker 7 (30:07):
Good luck to your show. Thank you so much.
Speaker 3 (30:09):
The same with you in the morning show on Visten.
Speaker 4 (30:13):
Yep, we appreciate him joining us right there, and he
kind of led us into a conversation that I want
to continue when we come back in just a little
bit here, because of course we got Thursday night football
get ready to kick off. You have the Patriots and
the Jets. This is the first time that they're gonna
be meet since and I believe it's nineteen ninety nine
without Bill Belichick, which is you get so used to
seeing them and that rivalry Bill Belichick being part of it.
(30:35):
Not the case. So we'll get to that in just
a bit. Also, Shekel City, let me look at me.
Speaker 3 (30:39):
Look at it. Let me see how you're face doing
right now. I don't know. We'll have to see how
Rob said one so far. Yeah, I had some money
on it and not that good to you.
Speaker 4 (30:47):
Yeah, I'm gonna be honest, I've never seen you that adamant.
That's how I knew you came in. You almost dropped
your box of ribs and I was like, oh, my man,
must have some money on this game.
Speaker 3 (30:55):
You slapped somebody in the back of the head. I
didn't know who you were for. I need a shower.
Check City coming up as well. Stay tuned with your boys.

Fragle Rock. All right.

You all are amazing.
Speaker 4 (32:05):
When I tell you, Rob and I will be hey,
O Tany's this, or Hey Aaron Rodgers that, and within
three minutes is in a promo or it's already on there.
Kudos team. Seriously, you guys know been in the business
for a while. That ain't everywhere. Shout out to rick
Ricky's unbelieved Ricky Ricky Ricky did the old you talk
about Ricky Henderson. He's fast like Ricky Henderson away. He
(32:25):
turned that stuff around. Literally, I'll be like, Rob, you're crazy.
Can't believe it coming up Robing Kevin talking Rob You're crazy.
I'm like, how did you get that up so fast?
So credit to him? All right, Shekel City.
Speaker 2 (32:35):
Welcome to Shekel City, the whole base for Rob Parker's
daily picks against the Sprat.
Speaker 1 (32:47):
I am definitely a little sick tonight because I put
some shekels down last night. I was two and one.
My total coming into today sixteen and thirteen. That's pretty good.
You can make the day in Vegas. Why don't you
shekel city?
Speaker 3 (33:00):
Here we go.
Speaker 1 (33:01):
And these, of course posted earlier on social media. My
best bet Jets minus six at home taking on the Patriots.
I also had the Yankees minus one and a half
runs at the Mariners. That game has gone final, and
yes the Yankees loss, So there's my parlay. And I
had the Dodgers minus one and a half and they
(33:22):
won the game.
Speaker 3 (33:23):
Is it over? You think it won by forty two? Yeah,
it's like twenty to three or something.
Speaker 1 (33:26):
Show a up again, No, it's a replay, y, Yeah,
twenty to four was the final there. So again I
had the Dodgers minus one and a half that cashed,
Yankees minus one and a half that did not work out.
And I'm hoping for the Jets minus six hosting the
Patriots tonight on Monday and on Thursday night football. And
(33:47):
remember I'm not telling you who the bet on, Calvin,
I'm telling you who I bet on.
Speaker 4 (33:52):
Please look at that stat line right there, six for six,
three home runs, two stolen bases, ten RBIs Come on, man,
I know we already had our old tiny conversation. But
the stat line is just in my face. It doesn't even
look real. That looks like, here's the stat line over
the last three games, not just tonight, Rob, I need
you to witness this greatness. All right, speaking of greatness,
(34:14):
we're not about to necessarily get that today when we
have this Thursday night football game. Greatness is not what
I would put on these two teams. Both are coming
in one and one, although the Patriots had a chance
that you could have been two and zero so far
with this gerrod Mao era. But this is different, right,
you don't have Bill Belichick manning the sideline. Obviously Tom
(34:38):
Brady's been going for a little bit. So this is
a different era. First time since ninety nine that you
haven't had Bill Belichick on this. But this is supposed
to be a super Bowl type of team. Folks are
saying about the Jets, Rob, People were saying, Aaron Rodgers
gets back, they got the running game. In fact, it's
a two headed monster at the running game. You got Wilson,
their defense, which is overrated. The defense, I don't disagree.
(35:01):
It hadn't been nearly what people thought. Yeah, and this
has they haven't looked this so far. But the only
caveat or a little bit of grace I'll give them
is the same conversation we've been having about all NFL teams,
including the Chiefs and other teams.
Speaker 3 (35:15):
Nobody looks great right now, right nobody.
Speaker 4 (35:17):
No offense is coming out, says the Saints, talking about
the Saints coming up, But no one really looks amazing.
So I'll give them that that maybe Aaron Rodgers and
his crew in this offense, he believes the best is
in front of them, still can get this thing going.
Speaker 3 (35:31):
Uh, but we'll have to wait and see. But I
do want to throw this to you.
Speaker 4 (35:34):
We talked to Michael Lombardi about this, whatever happened to
having a quarterback and say, hey man, we're gonna let
you wait a little bit.
Speaker 3 (35:42):
I'll tell you what. I'll tell you what happened.
Speaker 1 (35:44):
Jobs are on the line and a head coach don't
have a five year.
Speaker 3 (35:49):
A five year plan like that back. But that's what happens.
Speaker 1 (35:53):
And as soon as you start losing some games, they're
ready to move on.
Speaker 3 (35:57):
You know that.
Speaker 1 (35:57):
It's not like before we had coaches who for ten
or twelve years, they and they gave you a three
or four year planet. Oh yeah, develop him Aaron Rodgers
where he's able to sit for three years. Jordan Love
was able to sit three or four years, and the
Packers will wind up with three quarterbacks in the span
of forty five years, where all these other teams have
(36:17):
twenty five quarterbacks in the last twenty five years.
Speaker 3 (36:20):
So that's what I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (36:21):
If I'm looking at what has worked, what's been successful,
then I'm saying, hey, Drake May, why didn't you have
a seat a little bit? I got Jacobe Prissett, been
there before, been a part of the Patriots, you know what.
Speaker 1 (36:31):
The other problem though, is they see CJ. Stroud and
they go, no, wait a minute, he didn't have to wait.
He played right away and look at him, and they're
talking about the Texans coming out of the AFC.
Speaker 3 (36:42):
A lot of people, IMVP pick possibly.
Speaker 1 (36:44):
Yeah, So that's why when you see that, you know
that it's not a formula that everybody has to sit.
Speaker 4 (36:50):
But if I see Lebron James, I don't think everybody
walking around as Lebron James.
Speaker 1 (36:54):
I see that's a little different right there. Yeah, But
they even in the CJ. Stroud thing, like he won
the first overall pick. They picked up Bryce Young, so
they say, well they passed on him. He wasn't like
he was the overwhelming he's going to be the first
pick overall.
Speaker 4 (37:08):
Right, No, but this is why I'm saying I like
what the Patriots are doing. They got Jacoby Brissett, who's
proven to be a solid veteran in this league. Every
team would love to have him as a backup, just
a guy that you can say, hey, all right, he
can go in there, get us a few wins, Gonna
take a few losses as well, but he's solid, He's
a proven veteran, good guy.
Speaker 3 (37:26):
Drake may learn up under him. Let's figure out what
we are as a team.
Speaker 4 (37:29):
We don't know. We are a new head coach. Let's
see what we got, see who we are, see what
we're building, and not rush our young guy out there
to get his head cracked open. We haven't had a
chance to really for you know, offseason. Let everybody jail.
Let's just see what we got and then maybe we
can have a situation where after a year until we
bring you out there. Alex Smith, I roll out of
Patrick Mahomes. You mentioned Brett Favre, I roll out of
(37:51):
Aaron Rodgers, so on and so forth.
Speaker 1 (37:52):
Right, there are organizations that can do that, but not everybody.
And that's the issue. You got these coaches who are
hanging on by a string. Yeah, but when you do that,
and when even like you can put in Andy Dalton,
if we know Andy Dalton's story, right, he's not gonna
take you anywhere. So even if you're a coach and
you do that trying to salvage and maybe win a
couple of games so that you don't get buried under,
(38:14):
you're still not gonna get anywhere. You're gonna still have
a bad year. And then say well, we need a quarterback.
Speaker 3 (38:19):
What we're gonna do? So it's it's ugly. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (38:21):
And when you start that clock though, when you break
out that that new quarterback, that young quarterback, you're on
the clock faster. At least you can say, well, when
he gets started, then I'll go all right. We've got
a whole lot coming up. Still left in the show
are the New Orleans Saints, Baloney or for Lay. We're
gonna talk about the next Fox Sports Radio the Odd Couple,
Rod Parker, Kelvin Washington on a TV theme Thursday,
