Speaker 5 (03:18):
That's awesome. Thanks Ron.
Speaker 4 (03:19):
Really, that's the hardest job in the world for somebody
who doesn't have a kid. But you know, I see my.
Speaker 3 (03:27):
Nephew dealing with his kids and my sisters when they
raising their kids.
Speaker 4 (03:32):

Alex will have all kinds of great music to entertain
us in and out of the breaks.
Speaker 4 (04:11):
All right, hey, Ryan, let's go here.
Speaker 3 (04:13):
Obviously, Game number four is happening tonight, a big game
because it'd be three one or two two right pacers
took control when Game three. A lot of people were shocked.
They were six and a half point favorite underdogs.
Speaker 4 (04:28):
At home.
Speaker 3 (04:29):
They went very convincingly take a two to one lead.
They can you know, they win tonight three to one
and they'd be in great shape.
Speaker 4 (04:37):
Who is your original pick?
Speaker 5 (04:38):
Ryan? Indiana?
Speaker 7 (04:40):
Rob?
Speaker 5 (04:40):
You know that. The last time we talked, I had Indiana.
Speaker 8 (04:43):
Man.
Speaker 5 (04:43):
You know that, Rob?
Speaker 7 (04:44):
Now you did you did listen when I first said,
I don't think you were listening, but I think you
went home and you meditated upon what I said and
you said, you know, he's right.
Speaker 4 (04:53):
I picked Indiana and six You had Indiana? And how
many six or seven?
Speaker 5 (04:56):
I'm pretty sure it had to be six to me, it.
Speaker 4 (04:59):
Was like seven.
Speaker 3 (05:00):
I don't know about winning Game seven on the road,
you know what I mean? How tough that is? Game six?
If they win the night, they go back to Okay,
see they lose, and then they come back for Game
six in Indiana, as I like to call it, because
they have been pretty special.
Speaker 4 (05:17):
But Brian, let's do this. This is really the big thing.
Speaker 3 (05:21):
If the Pacers are able to win and Rob g
I'm gonna need some of your math numbers on some
of this stuff. But if they are to win, and
obviously they still need two more wins.
Speaker 4 (05:34):
And I'm not counting my.
Speaker 3 (05:35):
Chickens before they hatch, because don't you remember when the
Phoenix Suns were up too to oh and Devin Bookers,
Kobe Bryant and Chris Paul's now the top in the
top two or three point guards of all time. And
you know that never happened, right, they lost four straight
and that never happened.
Speaker 4 (05:53):
We haven't heard any of that since. But my point
is what a run it has been.
Speaker 3 (06:00):
In fact, if the Pacers win without hesitation, without question,
they would have won and be the greatest championship run
in NBA history.
Speaker 4 (06:13):
And it ain't even close. And Rob g, you got numbers. Yeah,
so it started off last week.
Speaker 9 (06:20):
After Game one is when you kind of dipped your
toe into this take and then you can pull it back. Okay,
So after Game one that went that furious comeback and
they went on the Tyres Albert and buzzer beater. That
was the fourth time that they had a win like that, right,
you know Round one against the Bucks, you know Round
two against the Cavs, the Knicks, and then in these finals,
there was a stat that we had on that night.
(06:40):
That said, the odds of the Pacers winning all four
of those games were one in seventy five million, according
to mathem ditches. For context, did you hit one seventy
five million by lightning twice? Twice is one in nine million? Okay,
that's number one and number two. This one just came
out over before ahead of Game four. If they end
(07:03):
up winning these finals, the Indiana Pacers will have tied
the twenty eleven MAVs and the nineteen ninety five Rockets
for the most all NBA players they've beaten on their
road to the championship. They will have seven all NBA
players Thinking about that, about fifteen players they would have
gone through.
Speaker 3 (07:23):
Seven and they were underdog in every series, right, they
played the Bucks, they knocked off the Calves, and they
knocked off the Knicks, and they also the comebacks which
we talked about, and they would be nobody was injured too,
(07:44):
like that was a big thing. Like you know, Ryan,
and years gone by, guys have won championships and you said, yeah,
it was the Warriors beat the Calves, but Kevin Love
and Kyrie Ivan were hurt. You remember that, like that
when they won their first championship, like it counts.
Speaker 5 (07:58):
Kevin Durant's injury with Golden State.
Speaker 3 (08:01):
Where do you have people in you and you could
take a look and go, oh, if he was there,
would have mattered or whatever, it could have been different.
But in this case, I'm looking at this run, how
could this not be the greatest run? Especially your leader,
the guy who's leading this whole thing is a guy
voted by other players as the most overrated player in
the league.
Speaker 4 (08:22):
All these things add up to the greatest run. Where
are you?
Speaker 7 (08:27):
I think there's a level where it definitely has greatness,
There's no question. And it's funny Rob Ge talks about
those stats. That's excellent work, by the way, Rob. And
the thing that stands out to me is like, you know,
the end game percentage of winning, like we talked about
like halla Burton shot or you're down you know, ten
or fifteen points with a certain amount of time left,
(08:49):
like it's just improbable to happen. But I think it's
up there with the greatest I think the questions may
come in and let me play on the other side, Rob,
you could challenge and say, well, Oklahoma City didn't have experience.
Speaker 5 (09:00):
They beat a team that was in experience.
Speaker 7 (09:02):
The last time Oklahoma City went to the finals, they
got ran by Miami the championship with the round before,
they were inexperience. But you could say the role there. Okay,
you saw New York. You know, you saw Cleveland, who
was also inexperience. They weren't certified yet. So you had
teams that were great in the regular season but didn't
have the the postseason name and and I think that
(09:22):
might be the challenge on the other side. But as
far as the team that you didn't see coming, Rob
and tell me if I'm wrong here, because here's the reality.
Here's let's let's just be fair with all the overrated stuff. Okay,
there are moments in the in the in the beginning
of the year where Indiana couldn't guard the rim to
save their lives. They gave up everything in the paint.
They weren't tough, Halla Burton was abysmo to start the season.
(09:45):
Just the energy wasn't there. Indiana didn't look like Indiana.
I didn't throw them aside, Rob.
Speaker 4 (09:52):
And with right and rightfully.
Speaker 3 (09:53):
So they went to the Eastern Conference finals last year
and they got off to such an abysmal start.
Speaker 4 (10:00):
People did not Kelvin and I have owned up to it.
We didn't talk about the Pacers, not one time all
basketball season.
Speaker 5 (10:07):
We didn't.
Speaker 7 (10:08):
We didn't talk about I think the biggest thing was
for me, you had three point guards that you can
throw on the floor. You had a team that had
experienced when they went there before, and you know, covering
Houston this season the one thing I got to see
probably the last two years, like just some comebacks, like
like our group was up fifteen to twenty points and
(10:31):
got walked down, and like, there's such a unique team.
Speaker 5 (10:34):
Rob.
Speaker 7 (10:34):
You can't say it's an accident at this point. You
can't say it's luck. It's their identity. Like when they
start to hit threes and they start moving the ball,
they become pretty much unguardable. And you know, Rob, I
don't know how you feel about this. Were you in
Detroit at the time, when you working in Detroit when
the Pistons went on their run and they beat the Lakers,
I think, just right.
Speaker 4 (10:56):
It was a group of every game, but it was
a group.
Speaker 7 (10:59):
Of good players, right, you didn't see no one believed
that Detroit was You like what Detroit was doing, but
you didn't believe they were as good as they were
and obviously a different situation. But you have a group
of really good players that play together and the NBA
has not been one like that.
Speaker 5 (11:15):
You can argue, since you're Detroit.
Speaker 3 (11:17):
Is two thousand and four pence there, but they did right, No,
that's definitely the case. But here is them going through
the seven top NBA players like that. The road is
not like they guy like we said, guys are heard
or there was some other team that mirrored them and
they didn't have any really star players. That is an
(11:40):
unbelievable amount of players that you had to go through
and circumstances they were on the road for that Nick game.
They came back from fourteen down with two thirty eight.
You played ten years in the NBA. You ever see
somebody come back fourteen points with two thirty to go?
Speaker 4 (11:55):
Impossible?
Speaker 7 (11:56):
Some teams, just like I said, it's their identity. It's
a weird belief. And I've been in locker rooms with
teams that were clutching, teams that just weren't clutch at all,
and there's a there's a oh, we're gonna get this,
oh ay, once he misses the shot, this happens.
Speaker 5 (12:11):
This happens. This happens, and Rob.
Speaker 7 (12:13):
The one thing that I know from playing in the
NBA for ten years and watching it is that this
is tell me if I'm wrong right, this is the
other team's offense. You get a high mid pick and
roll and then your best player goes one on one.
And every team in the NBA does it down the stretch.
And what makes Indiana so unique is they still move
the ball from side to side. They'll play one on
one with ever the mismatch. They're hitting back doors in
(12:35):
the clutch, they're hitting the skip for the three.
Speaker 3 (12:38):
Like.
Speaker 7 (12:38):
Their execution gets higher and higher. And I even liken
them to a team that was really great in that sense.
It was it was when san Antonio Rob was going
on their runs. San Antonio would execute, they were clutch.
You know man who Genobli would come off the bench
and he might take the last shot. It could be
Tim Duntan, like they remind me with their ball movement
and trust of the spurs. And to me, that's what
(13:00):
stands out and you just you hadn't seen it. It's
been such a player dominated league that we didn't believe
you could win.
Speaker 5 (13:08):
With that style. But Rick Carlile saw something.
Speaker 3 (13:10):
And Rick Carlisle a tremendous coach and looking to win
a second championship with a second team.
Speaker 4 (13:16):
That's pretty amazing. Doesn't happen often?
Speaker 5 (13:18):
All right?
Speaker 3 (13:19):
Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven
nine nine six sixty three sixty nine. If the Pacers
win the title, will it be the greatest championship run
in NBA playoff history?
Speaker 4 (13:31):
Real? Easy?
Speaker 8 (13:32):
Ay?
Speaker 5 (13:32):
Nay?
Speaker 3 (13:33):
If you agree with that, or if you know some
other situation. We gave you two others. Maybe there's one
we didn't see or we overlook. Let us know.
Speaker 4 (13:42):
We want to continue this conversation with you.
Speaker 3 (13:44):
Next, it is the Odd Couple on a Funky Flashback Friday,
Rob Parker.

Speaker 3 (14:10):
It is the Odd Couple on a Funky Flashback Friday.
Speaker 4 (14:15):
Rob Parker, Ryan Hollins in for Kelvin.
Speaker 3 (14:18):
Washington on his Father's Day weekend and For forty years,
tire Rack has been helping customers find the right tires
for how, what and where they drive, ship fast and
free back by free road hazard protection with convenient installation
options like mobile tire installation tire rack dot Com the
(14:39):
way tire buying should be don't forget. In about seven minutes,
Mark Funky Colemdina will be joining us with taking your
phone calls eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox. Would
this be the greatest NBA Championship run by a team?
If the Pacers win and what they've had to go through,
Let's kick it off, Ryan with Andre in Massachusetts.
Speaker 4 (15:01):
You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Dreight?
Speaker 10 (15:05):
Hey, how you doing? Thanks for taking the call. The
Pacers are certainly on a run. But in terms of
NBA history, I can't say the greatest of all time.
We can go back to twenty sixteen Cleveland's run against
the seventy three and nine Golden State Warriors. I gotta
go farther back than that. Let's go back to nineteen
seventy seven and doctor Jack Ramsey and Portland Trailblazer is
going up against Doctor Jay and George mcginnit and an
(15:25):
overpowering Philadelphia seventy six ers team. We can go back
to nineteen sixty nine Bill Russell's last championship with the
Celtics on the road against the Lakers. So a very
good run by the Pacers. I'm rooting former Carlisle as
an elite coach wonn Dallas. He's doing a big things
there for all time. I got to defer to the game.
Speaker 4 (15:42):
Yeah, but see you'll do anything only pushback.
Speaker 3 (15:45):
Really, lebron Kyrie, like that's not the same roster Ryan
as what the Pacers have. Like, even though it was
a tremendous comeback, we get it three one. Those are
some of the all time great players. Where you can
look at the Pacers roster, I don't know if they
have anybody.
Speaker 7 (16:03):
So here's the challenge. Are we saying the level of
player isn't up to part of the competition they played,
or we are we looking at the accolades of who
they knocked off? How are we quantifying this round because
that changes? That changes was being said, No.
Speaker 3 (16:20):
But we're looking at it at all the angles about
the games that they won, the players that they played against,
underdog in every series, like everything and then they don't
have a top seventy five player. They don't and they
went through seven all NBA players. I mean, that is
a tremendous run when you account for all that, like
(16:43):
their roster, the rosters they played against, the situations they
were in, the games that they had to win from
coming from behind. You know, people were gonna the thunder.
Ryan Hollins was getting the accolades. Is the best team
ever on paper, numbers wise, winning all these games by
(17:03):
double dick.
Speaker 5 (17:03):
Nobody believe that. Nobody believed that.
Speaker 4 (17:07):
I'm talking about numbers. I'm with you, I'm talking about
the numbers. People. Would you agree with that? That's what
they've said.
Speaker 7 (17:12):
No, No, listen, they blew out the competition. They only
want that. I think they lost once to the Eastern Conference,
which is ridiculous.
Speaker 3 (17:19):
And then now like every game, like seventy five percent
of games they wins with double digits, right something like that.
Speaker 7 (17:25):
It was it was a it was here's the problem
robed with Oklahoma City. And I know we're talking about
the run, but with Oklahoma City, we got to dress.
It's almost like they beat everybody by so much. They
didn't have close games, they didn't have the experience. They
didn't get tested. There's not a battle tested group, and
the challenge was experienced. And a lot of people had
(17:48):
Oklahoma City going out in the second round going out
in the third round. Nobody, nobody wants to believe this.
And I think they were. They were able to out
Would you say out depth outlast they were younger, more
condition What will we wait to quantify there?
Speaker 6 (18:02):
Rob?
Speaker 5 (18:02):
Would you say yeah? Yeah?
Speaker 7 (18:04):
Whatever they did, they lasted through and they were more conditioned.
And now they they they're playing against a team that's
just as deep, if not maybe in the playoff and
experience in a prepared situation even deeper. Because one thing
Mark Dagnall did last game, Rob, he went shorter into
his bench. He normally plays those guys everybody about even minutes.
Speaker 5 (18:25):
He's shortened. What he did, he's changing the way he's.
Speaker 4 (18:28):
Coached, right, all right?
Speaker 3 (18:29):
Eight seven, seven ninety nine On Fox, Let's squeeze one
more in Dulton from Florida.
Speaker 4 (18:34):
You're in the eye couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up? Deep?
Speaker 11 (18:38):
Hey guys, Actually you just caught me while I'm catching
a fish?
Speaker 4 (18:41):
Are you serious?
Speaker 11 (18:42):
I'm not even joking. I'll send it in if you
need me too. I'm out here fishing at the pond
listening to your show. I'm originally from Indiana, grew up there.
Speaker 3 (18:52):
You mean, Wendyana, Come on, let's get it right, Wendyam.
Speaker 11 (18:55):
You're playing Indiana. I sat through. I didn't start watching
in the NBA until about two thousand and three, and
you guys know, Lebron came in and it got me interested.
But the big thing that I remember predominantly was all
the Paul George years when I was in college, all
the hurt and all the pain of watching this team
(19:15):
do so well and come up short. And I think
sometimes I believe in fate when it comes to basketball.
And if I gotta say, with this run, it's magical,
it's meant to be. I don't think there's any question
they close it out tonight, because no team except for
(19:36):
one has come back from three and one, right, And
I think I think it's over if they win tonight.
Speaker 3 (19:41):
Yeah, tonight is the game for me. I think that
they win tonight and it's over in six.
Speaker 5 (19:46):
I do believe I had a team for you, Rob.
Speaker 4 (19:47):
Thanks Daltons, I appreciate, Thank McCall.
Speaker 5 (19:50):
Thanks Dalton. Go ahead, and tweet that fish that you catch,
big fella. Let us see. Let us see what you're
working with, man, Let us see that fish all right
while you smiling. I got a team for you, man.
Speaker 7 (20:05):
All right, all right, my guy, Brendan Haywood swears that
Dirk went on the best run.
Speaker 5 (20:10):
Okay, so let me let me call it out. Let
me see what you think.
Speaker 7 (20:13):
Okay, you beat Damian Lillard, Okay, in the first round,
second round, you take out Kobe Bryant, You sweep the
Lakers with Gasol and those boys. Right then you beat Durant, Westbrook,
Harden and those guys for the Oklahoma City Thunder, and
then you beat the Heatles.
Speaker 5 (20:29):
Okay, Lebron and d Wade and Bo.
Speaker 4 (20:31):
We talked about that. They were in the list that
we brought up.
Speaker 3 (20:34):
It was the rob g the twenty eleven MAVs, what
was the other and the ninety five Rockets, And there's
no doubt about it, Darrin Ware do you they're in
that conversation. But the difference is Dirk Levinski's one of
the all time NBA great. Nobody on the Pacers an
all time great.
Speaker 7 (20:51):
But well, okay, hold on, hold up, how can you
you sound like everybody else, Halle Burton. Let's say he
wins the championship this year, right, are we gonna start
looking at.
Speaker 5 (21:02):
Halliburn in a different light?
Speaker 4 (21:04):
No, not only telling me, you're telling me he won't
be all.
Speaker 7 (21:06):
Time hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, Rob,
come with me.
Speaker 5 (21:10):
I understand right now.
Speaker 7 (21:11):
Today you're saying he's not an all time great, but
you're telling me like he won't be an all time great.
Speaker 5 (21:16):
I don't think you could say that, right.
Speaker 4 (21:17):
I don't believe that he will be an all time Wow,
I don't I'm.
Speaker 5 (21:21):
Really be a hall of fame? Will it be a
hall of fame? I mean?
Speaker 3 (21:23):
Are you talking about that hall of fame that everybody
gets into.
Speaker 5 (21:30):
Buying?
Speaker 2 (21:30):
That?
Speaker 5 (21:30):
All?
Speaker 4 (21:30):
Right? Uh?
Speaker 3 (21:32):
Coming up, we're gonna talk with Mark Funk and Colemadina,
But first let's get you caught up.
Speaker 4 (21:38):
With Steve de Seger.
Speaker 5 (21:39):
Hello.
Speaker 8 (21:40):
There windings in the second round at the US Open
in Oakland, Pennsylvania. Sam Burns leads by one after a
second round sixty five, Anders Schoffley and Rory McElroy. Looks
like Will advanced to golf on the weekend, making the
cut at six over par so I really seventy four
for Shaffley today Rory Kickilroy is seventy two. The projected
(22:02):
cut is at plus seven, so at eight over par,
looks like no golf this weekend for ludvig Olberg or
Wyndham Clark or Phil Mickelson, who still as old to go.
He is at plus eight to the scoreboard. Now for
Major League Baseball, the Marlins have a three to nothing
lead at the Nationals in the third inning. Washington has
lost five in a row end of two. Phillies up
(22:25):
four to nothing on the Toronto Blue Jays as Kevin
Gossman has surrendered a three run homer to Kyle Schwarber,
who's twenty second of the season. Angels at Orioles in
a rain delay at the start, Tigers have taken a
one nothing lead on Cincinnati bottom of the first. Detroit
with a record at forty five and twenty five. The
Yankees are forty two and twenty five. They're scoreless at
(22:45):
Boston in the top of the second, and the Rockies
are up to thirteen and fifty five this season, and
they're winning it Atlanta at two to one in the
bottom of the first inning today, the Cubs in ten
were beaten at home by the Pittsburgh Pirates two to one.
That game was score through seven innings. The Mets officially
plays pitcher Codei Senga on the injured list with a
strained hamstring. Mets and Rays scoreless in the second. The
(23:08):
Mets have won six in a row. In fact, at home,
they're twenty seven and seven. Saint Louis has lost.
Speaker 4 (23:14):
Five in a row. They're at Milwaukee.
Speaker 8 (23:15):
In a half an hour. The Brewers traded pitcher Aaron
Savali to the White Sox for first baseman Andrew Vaughn.
He'll start Sunday Savali. Milwaukee was about to send him
to the bullpen. Diamondbacks closer Justin Martinez out for the
year with a spring elbow. One of the late games,
ten PM Eastern has the Giants at the Dodgers LA
first in the NL West, one game over the Giants
(23:36):
San Diego two.
Speaker 4 (23:37):
Back back to you, all right, it is the odd couple.
Speaker 3 (23:42):
Rob Parker and Ryan Hollins in for kelvin Washington on
his Father's Day weekend.
Speaker 4 (23:48):
Now, let's welcome in.
Speaker 3 (23:52):
Mark Funky Cole Madina, the Fox Sports Radio MBA insider
Mark Ryan, What's up, buddy.
Speaker 6 (24:01):
Ryan, How you doing? How you holding Robin?
Speaker 7 (24:04):
You know he started a little bit, he started to
show a little Would it be politically correct to say geriatric?
Speaker 4 (24:12):
Oh wow, geriatric Mark?
Speaker 5 (24:15):
Would that be correct to say? What can I say that?
On Fox Radio? Work? Cad?
Speaker 4 (24:19):
What are you saying?
Speaker 3 (24:20):
I mean just because I wanted a senior coffee when
I came in the studio. You're not like you man,
and just give me time. We got two and a
half hours to warm up?
Speaker 6 (24:31):
Hey, Rob? How many times so far today in this week?
Because I've lost count? Have you told everyone I told
you so that the Pacers are the real deal?
Speaker 4 (24:39):
You already know. I've been saying it.
Speaker 3 (24:41):
I've been calling renamed the team to the Indiana Pacers.
I'm all over it. And how surprised are you where
they are? Especially coming off the type of when they
had in Game three. I think a lot of people
looked at that. Everybody thought that, you know, okay, see
was gonna you know roll now after the one to one,
(25:03):
and people looked at the Pacers getting lucky in Game
one and they stole the game they shouldn't have won.
Speaker 4 (25:09):
And now you're looking at this series. If they win
the night.
Speaker 6 (25:13):
That's over.
Speaker 4 (25:14):
Where are you?
Speaker 6 (25:15):
Yeah, I'm surprised that the Pacers have gone here, but
I'm not shocked. I think there's a clear difference going
into the playoffs. I did not pick the Pacers to
get to the finals because I favored Boston Celtics Cleveland Cavaliers.
Assuming it's full health for both teams, it's game seven,
flip a coin. But once they got to this point,
(25:36):
I wasn't surprised with anything. Now. I thought the Thunder
would be in command of this series at this point.
But here's why I'm not shocked. With everything, the Pacers
have shown that they're not here just because they're the
last team standing. They have done everything that they can
do to show that they're deserving of it. Tyrese Halbern,
Yes he's had some ups and downs, but it's mostly
been ups with high passing games always coming up in
(25:59):
the cluck. With four game winners. They play at a
fast pace. They have a very complete team. Pascal Siakam
is perfect number two option, and Rick Carlisle has done
a masterful coaching job. So when you add all those
things up, this is a team that very well deserves
to be in this spotlight and so if they hoist
the trophy not surprising at all.
Speaker 5 (26:20):
Mark, I need you to be the voice of reason here.
Speaker 7 (26:22):
So Rob's not just saying He's not just saying like, Okay,
it's the greatest run ever. One thing that Rob is
like he's.
Speaker 5 (26:31):
Poo pulling all over Halliburton right now.
Speaker 7 (26:33):
He's like, you know, he's saying, hey, Mark, Mark, Robin
he said he'll be a Hall of famer by default.
Speaker 5 (26:39):
There's nothing great about him right now, Like, oh, I'm.
Speaker 3 (26:42):
Just saying, like I don't want to go like winning
what championship should automatically mean you go into the Hall
of Fame. I just don't think that that is the prerequisite.
You know, there's got to be a body of work.
And before this, Mark, as you know, people are saying
he was overrated, he was inconsistent earlier in the year,
and he's been big time. He's a big time shot,
(27:02):
make a clutch player. But I'm just not ready to
crown anybody off.
Speaker 7 (27:06):
It is all right, well Mark, well Mark, where will
we you know, because everybody's all over the place. It's
not just Rob, Rob, It's not just you, not today,
But where do we properly evaluate Halliburton.
Speaker 6 (27:18):
Well, I think the good thing is that we can
evaluate Halliburn as far as Hall of Fame credentials when
his career is over. He's going to get there, but
he has a lot of basketball left. He's twenty five
years old. I think here's what's telling Ryan when I
talk to an executive on another team as well as
some other people about oh, the Shae Tyresse matchup. Yeah,
they're not going to be guarding against each other, but
(27:38):
who's going to be the bigger star. Everyone was picking
Shay and someone specifically told me that was an executive,
said there's no comparison. The Shay's body of work, even
at just one year older, is night and day. So, yeah,
Tyree is a special player, but has a ways to go.
And here's here's where I think there's a lot of
gray area with tyresee too much to say he's overrated,
(28:00):
even if some players are saying this. But on the
other side of the on the field, here for anyone
that's downplaying any of his struggles or saying, you know what,
like he's a pass first guard, don't get on him
if he's not scoring a lot. The people around him,
including his trainer Drew Handlin are always telling him you
(28:20):
got to be more aggressive, you got to shoot more.
So I think everything's fair as far as when you're
looking at his ups and downs of the playoffs. But
I think the good thing is is at the very
least he's the best passing point guard in the NBA.
He comes from pure intentions that he wants to make
his teammates better. And can he become a better scorer, yes,
Can he be more consistent, yes, But he's willing to
(28:45):
be coaching, be coached to that high level. And I
think so far in these playoffs you've seen him take
a huge step in that growth and it's going to
continue to come.
Speaker 3 (28:56):
I guess is Mark fucking cole Medino Fox Sports Radio
NBA inside here on the odd couple of Fox Sports
Radio Mark the idea of playing in close games, having
to win games.
Speaker 4 (29:08):
Obviously, the thunder Blue a lot of teams.
Speaker 3 (29:10):
Out won a ton of double digit wins during the
regular season. Does that come back to haunt them because
the close games they aren't winning and those could be
what we have for the rest of the series. And
is that an advantage for the Pacers?
Speaker 6 (29:25):
Well, I think it can be an advantage for the Pacers.
But when I'm looking at this Thunder series and specifically
you know how tyres halburn managed the game winner and
helped the Pacers overcome you know, a game where they
commit I think nineteen of twenty five turnovers in the
first half. I think I had more to do with
Indiana playing really good basketball than the Thunder wedding the bed.
(29:49):
I looked at that late, late game comeback much differently
than when I saw the Pacers do the same thing
against the New York Knicks, because the Knicks, a lot
of it seemed like some inflicted wounds and controllable mistakes,
where with the Thunder of the Pacers, it had more
to do with you know what, tip your hat to
the Pacers. They made a lot of great basketball plays
(30:10):
and tyres Haliburton came up in the clutch. But that's
not to say that they can't improve things. Shay hasn't
been the most efficient this series. When you go from
games one to two to three, chet Holmegrin's been inconsistent.
Speaker 4 (30:24):
He had a great starting Game three and disappeared.
Speaker 6 (30:27):
Yeah, same thing. So they have to, I think come
with the mindset that it's not just about Shay because
he's a great player, but they got to go all
out with everyone else and Jayale Williams, he's been more consistent,
but they need additional scores. Beyond that, their defense has
been really good. But I think what we're getting at
(30:48):
here is that Indiana's shown that they're the real deals.
So even if Oklahoma City's mostly doing everything might not
quite be enough. And I think that's the same theory
applies to how the pacer SER's view the Thunder that
in game three they decide, you know what, like, we
can't afford to play from behind. We got away from
it in game one and everyone has to put all
(31:10):
hands on deck. Started with Halliburton, but it really trickled
down to everyone on the roster with Siakam, TJ McConnell, nempart,
you name it. So it's been a complete game effort
from top to bottom. And whoever does that from tonight
here on out will be the difference maker that wins
the series.
Speaker 3 (31:28):
All right, we only got about thirty forty five seconds left.
Speaker 4 (31:31):
Okay, who wins tonight? And why what do you got?
Speaker 6 (31:34):
I think the thundertake it because I still win the series.
There they are on paper, the better team, but now
they're going to live up to showing how they're the
better team. It's not just going to be a Shay
bounce back game. I think that you're going to have
the complete performance from top to bottom that Indiana showed
in Game three. But you know what, it's going to
be challenging because Indiana has a lot of confidence, they're
(31:54):
playing the right way and they're in the home crowd.
But my edge still goes to the Thunder because on
paper they're on the better team, but now they got
to prove they are all right there.
Speaker 3 (32:03):
He is Mark Funky, Cole Medina here on the Odd Couple.
Speaker 4 (32:08):
We appreciate it. Thank you so much.
Speaker 6 (32:10):
Mark, appreciate you. Rob and Glad you were the first
to call with the Pacers. I'm sure you'll enjoy that.
Victoria w aap though you already.
Speaker 4 (32:17):
Know I need to more. Though I'm not celebrating just yet.
Speaker 3 (32:20):
All right, there's a false narrative floating around about the Thunder.
Speaker 4 (32:25):
We'll tell you about it next.
Speaker 3 (32:26):
It is the Odd Couple on a Funky Flashback Friday.

daily Dix against the spread.
Speaker 4 (33:41):
All right, here we go Shekel City. Last night I
was one and two.
Speaker 3 (33:45):
My total record for the year one sixty one and
one fifty five, still over five hundred and here we
go tonight.
Speaker 4 (33:53):
My best bet, Ryan Hollins. I'm taking the Pacers plus
six and a half.
Speaker 5 (33:58):
Rob g.
Speaker 4 (33:59):
Not only will they cover, they'll win. Wow, Rob, do
you heard me? They'll win the game? I was wrong,
I was right last time. Alex.
Speaker 5 (34:07):
Okay, we were.
Speaker 4 (34:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (34:09):
Also, I got the New York Yankees plus a run
and a half day down already won nothing in Boston.
And I got the Cincinnati Reds plus one and a
half runs. They're down one nothing in Detroit taking on
the Tigers again. Reds plus one and a half, Yankees
plus one and a half, and the Pacers plus six
and a half. This is my underdog Special. And remember Ryan,
(34:31):
I'm not telling you who to bet on. I'm telling
you who I bet on. All right, now it's time
for the uh play Today Breaking Free is try Suttle
to the dead side, Leon try Todle, Who's time this series?
Speaker 4 (34:50):
Who is fourth? Oht winner of the playoffs? Final Star
and the ten five Florida four over time?
Speaker 3 (35:05):
My goodness, gracious that guy? I mean, can you imagine
what his voice must have felt like? That was courtesy
of of Oilers Radio, and the series is tied to
two in the Stanley Cup Finals. And now that was

Speaker 3 (35:31):
Ship fast and free back by free Road has a
protection and convenient installation options like mobile tire installation, tyre
rack dot Com the way tire buying should be. All right, Okay, See,
we've had this conversation and Ryan Holland. This is why
I'm not into crowning people too early, especially before you
(35:51):
win anything. Oh okay, see's windows are open. They're gonna
be in been a mixed for a championship the next
four or five year. Look how young the team. This
is how quickly things change. We talk about it all
the time. People said that when Jannis won his first
one in Milwaukee, right, oh wow, I mean he just
won a championship. He's gonna be there.
Speaker 4 (36:12):
We've had.
Speaker 3 (36:13):
This is gonna be seven years in a row with
a different cham Ryan. It's hard. This is not the
old days where the same teams you know would win
every year. I don't I think this is imperative that,
Okase get this one, coming off this great season. There's
no guarantee they get back next year. I don't care
how young they are.
Speaker 5 (36:34):
Rob.
Speaker 7 (36:34):
I'm with you when you're right, there's definitely no guarantee.
And I remember probably twice in my career. Once with
the Clippers, I sat around, we looked at the locker
room before the season, you know, me and a guy
Blake godfriend Chris and Matt Barnes was there, Chauncey Bill.
I mean, we had a loaded team and we had
the feeling like, hey, we've been in other situations and
(36:56):
we have an opportunity to win it. Let's make sure
we do everything we can. We don't didn't win it.
Then the second time was with the Boston Celtics, and
we felt like if we played the cards the right
way and we were up three to two against a
Lebron and the Miami Heat, that we had a chance
to win it. And Lebron becomes Lebron, they beat us.
But nonetheless I completely agree, like when you have a
(37:16):
window to win, you have to go after it. Now,
here's the challenge, but here's also the gold for the thunder.
The rest of the NBA is getting older, and the
question more so would be health and the one thing
I think they've done a great job.
Speaker 4 (37:33):
Of rob but health is a big question.
Speaker 3 (37:35):
And right because everybody thought the Celtics were gonna run
and repeat, everybody was I had it booked and not
only before. Of course, Tatum got hurt that that of
course put the kai bosh on it. But they lost
the first two games when he played the first two
and a half games, right, So it wasn't just hurt,
they lost rob Let.
Speaker 7 (37:53):
Me ask you this, does the NBA this season almost
feel like baseball or football a little been in the
sense of, you know, in baseball, it's not the best team,
it's the hottest team.
Speaker 4 (38:06):
It seems like win the World Series the best team
normally doesn't.
Speaker 7 (38:10):
It seems like Indiana is the hottest team. And okayse's great,
but they're not battle test the biggest challenge and why
I went with Indiana also, I'm gonna take the victory
that with you.
Speaker 5 (38:20):
I'm right behind them, will be bro Okay, I'm right
behind you.
Speaker 4 (38:22):
Man, because you need to know.
Speaker 5 (38:24):
I know, send me one of those hats that I got, no. No.
Speaker 7 (38:27):
The reason why is because Indiana's been battle tested, They
played tight games, they executed in tight games. Oklahoma City
ain't seeing the tight game down. They're just blowing everybody
out and it's great to blow them out, but when
you have to execute, can you and they're looking around like,
who's the guy?
Speaker 3 (38:45):
What we do, right, I agree, And that's why I
think the Pacers have an advantage because I expect this
to be a close game. I would be surprised if
this is a blowout in the favor of Thunder.
Speaker 4 (38:56):
Of the Thunder they have to ride.
Speaker 5 (38:59):
If they were, they got them out.
Speaker 4 (39:01):
But I'm just saying I don't think that with the Pacers.
Speaker 3 (39:04):
I expect their bench players, you know this, Ryan playing
better at home as we saw in game three, right,
they feel more comfortable bench players, reserves.
Speaker 4 (39:13):
Playing at home.
Speaker 3 (39:15):
And I think that the pressure is all on the Thunder,
not on the Pacers. The Pacers if they lose, it's
two out of three, you know what I mean?
Speaker 7 (39:24):
But Robin, am I crazy when I say they have
to blow them out to win?
Speaker 3 (39:28):
No?
Speaker 5 (39:29):
It's how do how do we feel knowing that they
know that? Rob? Am I crazy?
Speaker 4 (39:34):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (39:34):
No, I don't think you're crazy, because that's how they
win normally. And if it's a close game, I'm gonna
give it to the Pacers.
Speaker 4 (39:40):
So all right, coming up our number two. Man, that
was fast. It is the odd couple.
Speaker 3 (39:45):
Rob Parker, Ryan Hollins right here on Fox Sports Radio,
Stick and Stage amraa
