And the Windyana Pacers have taken the lead in this
NBA finals.

the thunder and five or whatever it was. Everybody in
their uncle had the thunder and five. Never thought they'd
win another game. Oh, they won their one game.

They got lucky.

They were only leading by point of for point three
of the game, right, and that was just a fluke.
And last night they got the Remember I kept saying
to you, I'm waiting. I'm waiting for them to have
a good game, play a good game, and they're at home.

They you know, I know we will. They limit Shade,

They make him work for his twenty shots. And he
has a little bit of an off night and he had,
you know, more turnovers in the bakery six and they
were sloppy with the ball or whatever, and they were
able to capitalize.

Stat seventeen fast break points in that game, nineteen in
the first two games total. So that's a big turnaround
when you're getting fast break and the defense can't get
back and his easy buckets, layups, dunks, that's what you
want on the fast break points, so all those good things.
But I'm here to tell you that if you still

can't figure it out how the pacers are where they are,
don't try to figure it out. It won't be figured out.
This is what happens when when the slipper fits Cinderella.
You can't make sense of it. You can't look at
it and go, how how are they winning? What are

winning all those games that they won in the earlier rounds,
and they were underdogs one in seventy five million, and here.

They're right on the verge. They're two wins away. I
picked them in six, Windy hadda in six. I feel
great about the pick. That was the game that they needed.
And you remember I told you those game seven because
they're not trying to go back to Okace and try
to win a game seven on the I'm serious, but
can they win this thing now? Do they have OKAC

on the heels? I know everybody think, next game Okay,
see he's gonna win by twenty. That's their moo. This
team is different, and the stats and the figures and
the numbers they don't add up. That's how good the
thunder have been all year. Can I give you another
team that was an all time great team that didn't

win a championship?

not win a championship?

up three to one. And guess what they did not win.
They had lost more than two games in a row
all year. What did they do to lose the finals?
They lost the last three, including two at home and
Game seven. Okay, this can happen when a team can

my last six. Don't try to figure it out. Look
at what you're watching. I said it.

Before that they're a team of destiny.

Every time I watch, I keep saying, yes, they're getting
contributions from people to one off. It won't happen again,
But they don't need it to happen again. Need to
happen in this game they get to win in Game three,
a huge win after getting beat up in game two.

And okay, so let's talk about how he was just
win was I'm going back.

tell you what man.

So the massive the severity of that game, right, Game
three winners go on to win eighty percent of the
time to win a series.

So that game was huge. Now, obviously, really is that
the number?

Eighty percent of people who win Game three win that series.

So that was huge.

Now, obviously twenty percent is still a large chunk of
folks who've had a shot at winning it. You just
brought up one down three to one, and three one
had never never happening in the finals, right, it still
hasn't happened.

So a couple of things to note.

I actually and to the point now where I go,
I throw my hands in the air. And that goes
for a lot of this postseason because we had this
postseason so.

Many teams, even the Knicks.
Speaker 1 (10:57):
What are the Knicks doing beating the Celtics down twenty
twice in Boston and they come back and win.
Speaker 2 (11:04):
This has been the wildest playoffs.
Speaker 1 (11:06):
The Knicks do that to the Pistons where they going
to twenty ozer run and when the game we we
got the Pacers going on beating Cleveland and Cleveland, and
in Cleveland had set of franchise record and wins like
nothing has made since this entire postseason. And now the
Pacers are doing things that are improbable. You start to
look at some more of these numbers and things, it's
actually laughable. As you were mentioning, look at this number
(11:26):
right here. They are now nine to one in clutch
time games, which this season the most clutch wins in
a single postseason since the Heat did it back in
the bubble when they were eleven and three. So whenever
they're in these clutch games, they just win it. And
you know what has helped them this series, they keep
winning the fourth quarter. So this team has done things
they're not supposed to do. They keep coming back from
(11:48):
when down. They've been down fifteen points in multiple games
and have come back to win those games. This has
made no sense. The only thing I will say that
has made since and I think we just ignored off
this up a bunch, but they've been the second best
team in the NBA since January first.
Speaker 2 (12:04):
There you go, there is another forty four and sixteen.
People make it like they came out of nowhere.
Speaker 1 (12:10):
Since January first, and you and I joked and laughed.
We gave them credit. Yo, we apologized, we didn't talk
about you, We didn't give you any love. And you
know who has been the best team since January first?
The Oklahoma City Thunder. It's the only team ahead of them.
So the NBA has the two best teams since the
turn of the year in the NBA Finals forty four

and sixteen is crazy. So I just think, again, you
look at this pacer team. They got back to their identity,
putting pace, they got aggressive, and they got a bunch
of contributions from guys on the bench. And really, maybe
it is no secret that they're this good. And maybe
I've underestimated my Still I picked the Thunder.

To win, so I'm riding this out.
Speaker 1 (12:50):
But maybe we've underestimated them because they don't have superstars
and they weren't sexy. But they've been incredible this all
since again January first, forty four and sixteen.
Speaker 3 (12:59):
And here we go, they're Buster Douglas knocking down, beating
Mike Tyson, their Kurt Warner going from bagging groceries to
then winning the Super Bowl that same year he was
bagging groceries. They're the two thousand and three Marlins, had
no business winning the World Series, the two thousand and
four Pistons beating the Lakers, who had won three championships

in four years coming into that finals. I mean, that's
who they are. I really, I'm starting to look at
him and I'm starting to say team of destiny, Cinderella team.
But they have all the makings of all these other
themes that we're talking about.

Quick thing, though, I don't are we overstating the Cinderella win.
They've went to the Eastern Coverage Finals last year, not
the Thunder.
Speaker 2 (13:50):
Yeah you know what I mean? Or they like, they've
been to the Eastern Coverage Finals. They're right back.
Speaker 1 (13:54):
So maybe we just ignored them, Maybe we just started
flew because they started off rough this season.
Speaker 3 (13:58):
But I'll get I'll give you this, Okay, here's why
it is big if they do win the longest odds
of winning an NBA five.
Speaker 2 (14:10):
Ever, Like that's how big.
Speaker 3 (14:12):
The odds were sixty six to one, So that's telling you,
like nobody believed that they had a shot. That's why
you can say Destiny and Cinders still sixty.

As a current, I was six and a half spread
in favor of the Thunder and it was on the road.
It's the biggest road spread ever since like ninety one
or something like that.

Could we just saw this last game, it was five
and a half.

Remember I was like, oh, five, I'm taking I think Vega,
you keep looking at it saying the thunder is supposed
to last point. For me, the Thunder are six and
oh after a loss or five and oh, I'm sorry
trying to go six and oh they're five and oh
guess who else is five and oh after a loss?
The patiences So these two teams are just so evenly
matched that I think, including myself, maybe underestimated. When you

really look at the numbers and the data is says
that the Pacers are really this good. Both teams five
and ah after lost the thunder. Now is their job
to go six and oh?

We had a conversation about kind of the new NBA,
if you will, and one of the things we're starting
to see is man and of these teams are deep.
You look at Houston, you look at Orlando, you looking
obviously Boston, you know that, and then you look at
the Pacers, look at the Thunder. Teams are deep with
a bunch of guys who can shoot past dribble and
you just mentioned the Pacers. Is it gonna be Siakam,
Is it gonna be Halliburn, It's gonna be Turner? Is

it gonna be so many different guys that can get
it done? I mean, is that kind of the new
makeup of the league. Have a bunch of guys who
can do it?

No, you got to you gotta have star players. The
league is star driven, but you do have to have
other guys. You have to have the ancillary guys. The others,
if however you want to call them, they have to
be able to step up in certain moments. When we
won a championship in two thousand and eight, which sounds
like in history right to anybody that's listening, that was

so long ago, it seems like, but you had the
Leon Poe game. You know, he stepped up in game two. Yeah, okay.
Then when we're down twenty four, I get injected into
the lineup and then I have my game. James Posey
has his game as well, and so it's like those

are the things that and then in game six I
had another good game too. But those are the things
that have to happen. When you win a championship. The
stars are going to be stars. And so to me,
Tyree's Halliburton has to play like how he That doesn't

the stretch, and he's been inconsistent he had throughout this playoffs.

Every time I watch, I keep saying, yes, they're getting

I throw my hands in the air. And that goes
for a lot of this postseason because we had this
postseason so.

What are the Knicks doing beating the Celtics down twenty
twice in Boston and they come back and win.
Speaker 2 (11:04):
This has been the wildest playoffs.
Speaker 1 (11:06):
The Knicks do that to the Pistons where they going
to twenty ozer run and when the game we we
got the Pacers going on beating Cleveland and Cleveland, and
in Cleveland had set of franchise record and wins like
nothing has made since this entire postseason. And now the
Pacers are doing things that are improbable. You start to
look at some more of these numbers and things, it's
actually laughable. As you were mentioning, look at this number
(11:26):
right here. They are now nine to one in clutch
time games, which this season the most clutch wins in
a single postseason since the Heat did it back in
the bubble when they were eleven and three. So whenever
they're in these clutch games, they just win it. And
you know what has helped them this series, they keep
winning the fourth quarter. So this team has done things
they're not supposed to do. They keep coming back from

when down. They've been down fifteen points in multiple games
and have come back to win those games. This has
made no sense. The only thing I will say that
has made since and I think we just ignored off
this up a bunch, but they've been the second best
team in the NBA since January first.

There you go, there is another forty four and sixteen.
People make it like they came out of nowhere.

Since January first, and you and I joked and laughed.
We gave them credit. Yo, we apologized, we didn't talk
about you, We didn't give you any love. And you
know who has been the best team since January first?
The Oklahoma City Thunder. It's the only team ahead of them.
So the NBA has the two best teams since the
turn of the year in the NBA Finals forty four

and sixteen is crazy. So I just think, again, you
look at this pacer team. They got back to their identity,
putting pace, they got aggressive, and they got a bunch
of contributions from guys on the bench. And really, maybe
it is no secret that they're this good. And maybe
I've underestimated my Still I picked the Thunder.

But maybe we've underestimated them because they don't have superstars
and they weren't sexy. But they've been incredible this all
since again January first, forty four and sixteen.

And here we go, they're Buster Douglas knocking down, beating
Mike Tyson, their Kurt Warner going from bagging groceries to
then winning the Super Bowl that same year he was
bagging groceries. They're the two thousand and three Marlins, had
no business winning the World Series, the two thousand and
four Pistons beating the Lakers, who had won three championships

in four years coming into that finals. I mean, that's
who they are. I really, I'm starting to look at
him and I'm starting to say team of destiny, Cinderella team.
But they have all the makings of all these other
themes that we're talking about.

Quick thing, though, I don't are we overstating the Cinderella win.
They've went to the Eastern Coverage Finals last year, not
the Thunder.

The patiences So these two teams are just so evenly
matched that I think, including myself, maybe underestimated. When you

We had a conversation about kind of the new NBA,
if you will, and one of the things we're starting
to see is man and of these teams are deep.
You look at Houston, you look at Orlando, you looking

the Pacers, look at the Thunder. Teams are deep with
a bunch of guys who can shoot past dribble and
you just mentioned the Pacers. Is it gonna be Siakam,
Is it gonna be Halliburn, It's gonna be Turner? Is

it gonna be so many different guys that can get
it done? I mean, is that kind of the new
makeup of the league. Have a bunch of guys who
can do it?

No, you got to you gotta have star players. The
league is star driven, but you do have to have
other guys. You have to have the ancillary guys. The others,
if however you want to call them, they have to
be able to step up in certain moments. When we
won a championship in two thousand and eight, which sounds
like in history right to anybody that's listening, that was

so long ago, it seems like, but you had the
Leon Poe game. You know, he stepped up in game two. Yeah, okay.
Then when we're down twenty four, I get injected into
the lineup and then I have my game. James Posey
has his game as well, and so it's like those

are the things that and then in game six I
had another good game too. But those are the things
that have to happen. When you win a championship. The
stars are going to be stars. And so to me,
Tyree's Halliburton has to play like how he That doesn't
mean taking all the shots. He had ten assists right,

not rebound, you know what I mean? And he was
efficient from the field. So to me, that's that's the
recipe for Indiana to win.

I didn't like it. But when I was at home

I mean, because I can't speak on it from myself

it was for me being on the road. I was

my task was as opposed to being at home and

for them and things work out.

right there. Maybe the experience of being in the conference
finals last year, losing to the champions of the Celtics
and then seeing them and being like, man, we need
to get our stuff together, We need to figure out
how we could do this. We don't want to be

in this position again. Experience comes into play as well.
And so when I think about all of that, when
I think about all of those things, I think about
the experience that not only Carla because Carlisle, think about
the coach. The coach understands he's been there, you know

what I mean. They won a championship in Dallas, and
nobody gave them a chance when they beat us when
I was in Miami, nobody gave them a chance. They
thought we were gonna win this hands down, and they
end up winning it. So I think when you have
an experienced coach and you don't feel the pressure because

your team is a reflect Your team reflects how your
coach feels that time.

And I don't know how Dalganoff is is showing his
emotions in the locker room because I haven't seen that,
But I know Rick Carlisle is as cool as a cucumber.

Yeah, he's been there before, and he's coaching his butt
off too. He's getting the best out of his team.
I will let's go to the other side a little
bit more on the thunderside. At some point, are you
are you able to get that more from a consistency
from a Jalen Williams as at some point where he's
gonna be a to be that consistent robin to SGA's batman.
Are are we expecting that from him? He was, he's

the one, He's first time All Star this year. He
missed a bunch of free throws that they needed down
the stretch, and he's been inconsistent he had throughout this playoffs.
You had some good moments, but can we now start
to expect more from him?

I mean you would need that. Like I said, it's
other players, but also you need more from SGA. He
only he can't take three shots and only have three
points in the fourth quarter when you average thirty and
you're the league MVP. You can't have those, especially in
these big moments. So yes, you you definitely have to

have Jaln Williams step up, young man, and I know
his family. He's from Phoenix. I've seen him grow up
in the AAU circuit. I watched him from when he
was a youngster that nobody gave a chance to where
he ended up going to. I want to say it
was Santa Clara and then ended up in the league.

And so yeah, you need I think they need help
from her, like not only Jason Williams. Where's chitt Holme?
