Let's get this, punnies, you're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
It is The Odd Couple. I'm Chris, He's Rob. We're
live from the tirerack dot Com studios. Tire reck dot
Com will help you get there. They've got an unmatched selection,
fast ree shipping, free row hazard protection, and more than
ten thousand recommend to installers.
Speaker 3 (00:47):
Tire reg dot Com is.
Speaker 1 (00:48):
The way tirebind should be, and The Odd Couple, of course,
the way sports talk radio should be. Of course, it
is a trash talking Tuesday, which means it is your
time to shine. In about thirty minutes or so, thirty
thirty five minutes you can call in and you'll get
thirty to forty seconds to trash anyone or anything.
Speaker 3 (01:13):
In the world of sports.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
So get your takes ready and get ready to do
your thing. All right, Rob, we were talking earlier about
last night's forty nine Ers demolition of the Jets, and
we talked about the Jets defense that really struggled, particularly
against the run. Jordan Mason, an undrafted player running back
(01:37):
filling in for Christian McCaffrey and going for a buck
forty seven is not what's supposed to happen to a
Jets defense that had been touted as one of the
best in the league. But also playing a big role
in demolishing the Jets defense was Brock Perdy nineteen for
(01:58):
twenty nine.
Speaker 3 (01:59):
Overall two hundred and thirty one yards.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
It's not a spectacular statistical night, but if you watch
the game, he just surgically kind of picked a part
the Jets. He had four passes that were twenty plus
air yards completions and one that was thirty plus air
yards and a touchdown dropped by his best receiver, Brandon ayuk.
(02:23):
Iyuk actually was very rusty. Rob dropped to two passes
last night. He of course sat out pretty much the
whole training came.
Speaker 4 (02:32):
I mean, he's got work to catch up on. Yeah,
those are balls of the touchdown he catches, you know
what I mean?
Speaker 1 (02:38):
Oh yeah, And as much as you know, you might say, oh,
those hurts parties numbers or whatever. Ayuk is Believe me,
he is kicking himself, you know, because these guys, and
I don't know, I'm not blaming that, not saying this
in a negative way. They want to rack up numbers, roight.
They want to be all pro, you know, they want to,
(03:00):
you know, do all these great things, get all these accolades.
And that is a play that you know you won't
get back. And if you get ten touchdowns this year,
you should have had eleven, you get six, you should.
Speaker 3 (03:12):
Have had seven.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
Whatever it might be. So I'm sure that's eating him up.
And he'll he'll rectify that, I would imagine, and and
get back in the lab and be ready next week.
Because he only dropped two balls all last season, and
he's dropped He dropped two that's.
Speaker 3 (03:29):
What I read. That's what I read, two balls.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
Wow.
Speaker 5 (03:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (03:32):
Yeah, Auk is tough. He I think he's their best receiver.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
Although I will say Deebo showed the little the old
debo last night.
Speaker 4 (03:39):
Rob Yeah, because people were talking last year that he
wasn't remember he wasn't really a factory been.
Speaker 3 (03:46):
Banged up a little bit. Yeah yeah, and uh he
played well.
Speaker 1 (03:49):
But here's what I want to get to because I mean,
I like Brock Purdy, he's obviously been incredibly productive. I
think you've given him his props to.
Speaker 6 (03:59):
When he's when he's done it, Chris absolutely like butch.
Speaker 1 (04:01):
He I mean, there's really nothing. Nobody's saying he's.
Speaker 3 (04:06):
Mahomes or Joe Burrow.
Speaker 4 (04:08):
Or anything like that, and he'll never be able to
escape like his place.
Speaker 6 (04:14):
I believe this.
Speaker 4 (04:15):
Meaning like just what like people being indifferent about him
until he real super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (04:21):
Oh okay, I totally won the super Bowl.
Speaker 4 (04:23):
No, no, no, okay, because because that's just that's where
you are, like the Brock Proty era, Chris, if he
has a sayego, he plays well the next two or
three years and they don't win and enough to undo
the team, it'll be like he was Tony Romo, you
know what I mean, like.
Speaker 3 (04:39):
Like, well, like he's been better, I mean a lot
more than Tony.
Speaker 4 (04:44):
I know, but people will never give him like like
they he needs to win a super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (04:50):
I agree that as long as he doesn't have the
super Bowl, and they're obviously a people have come around
a lot. He was fourth in MVP voting, so you know,
he's getting respect in a lot of corners, but there
are those dowters out there, You're right, and now like
he won't get rid of all the doubters probably until
he wins the Super Bowl. And one thing a lot
(05:12):
of people say, and I think you've said it too, Rob,
is that because Jimmy Garoppolo, who everybody acknowledges was not
as good as Party, but you know, he was able
to go to San Francisco turned him around and obviously
win a lot of games. But because he got the
Niners to the super Bowl as a good quarterback but
(05:36):
not a great quarterback, people are like, yeah, okay, Party's had.
Speaker 3 (05:40):
A lot of success, but isn't the.
Speaker 1 (05:44):
Team right right? With or without him they have success?
And then look at the people around him.
Speaker 4 (05:49):
And the flip is Joe Burrow, Chris, the reverse right
is Joe Burrow.
Speaker 6 (05:54):
The Bengals couldn't win a playoff game, right, right?
Speaker 4 (05:57):
They had good teams, they went on seven right in
the playoffs, right? And I mean he and then Joe
Burrow shows up his second year after he played six
or seven games his rookie year and they were in
the Super Bowl.
Speaker 6 (06:11):
That's and Burrow.
Speaker 1 (06:13):
Now in fairness, Burrow did have a lot of weapons too.
Speaker 3 (06:16):
He didn't have a great franchise he was playing.
Speaker 6 (06:19):
But that's what I'm saying is like, but he had.
Speaker 1 (06:22):
He had t Higgins, he had Tyler Boy, he had
Joe Mixon in the backfield.
Speaker 3 (06:25):
Like, he had a lot of weapons too. But I
get what you're saying.
Speaker 1 (06:29):
But here's what I want to ask Rob and and
this is not meant to be a slight at all
on Christian McCaffrey.
Speaker 3 (06:37):
I he's great.
Speaker 1 (06:39):
I have no problem with people viewing him as the
best running back in the league. You know, it depends
on what you're looking for. It's obviously been Dereck Henry
if you're just talking about straight running, but running and
past receiving, McCaffrey's been the best the last couple of years.
But here's the thing, and obviously last night they didn't
miss him and an undrafted player runs for one hundred
(07:01):
and forty seven yards. I'm just saying, like this shadow
that kind of hovers over party because Jimmy Garoppolo got
them to the Super Bowl. Why doesn't that hover over McCaffrey,
because remember they ran the ball really well without him
(07:22):
as soon as they got good, which was pretty much
when Jimmy G got there and Kyle Shanahan's calling the
plays and they run a lot of play action and
the run game is important in this offense. They've always
run the ball well even with that, before Christian McCaffrey
got there, raheem mostered.
Speaker 4 (07:39):
Remember you remember they literally ran to the Super Bowl
ran Bay and.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
That absolutely they what Jimmy G threw it eight times
in a playoff game and in the Super Bowl they
were having their way against Kansas City and the football
We talked about him before with that, but Moster five
and a half yards of carried. A year, they go
to the Super Bowl, Matt Breed of five yards of carried.
(08:05):
They both combined for about fourteen hundred yard right, Elijah Elijah, Oh, no,
Elijah Mitchell. You know Jeff Wilson. They've had good running backs.
And Moster goes to Miami last year and makes the
Pro Bowl. So what I'm saying, Rob, is I get
(08:27):
that McCaffrey was great in college.
Speaker 3 (08:30):
He was a high I think it was a high draft.
Speaker 1 (08:33):
Yeah, he was great, right, and he made a couple
of all Pro teams with the Panthers.
Speaker 3 (08:38):
So he he was.
Speaker 1 (08:39):
Already record yeah yeah, yeah, and he was an eighth
pick in the draft.
Speaker 6 (08:44):
See that's the difference between him and Party is right.
Speaker 4 (08:47):
Purty doesn't have anything prior right from the before the
forty nine ers to feel that way about him, whereas
McCaffrey was, like, no, before he got to the forty
nine ers, the dude was balling out.
Speaker 1 (09:01):
He just kept getting hurt. That was his main problem.
And I get that, and that's fair, but it does
feel like it's more perception than maybe reality, because I
thought last night, and everybody talks about it's everybody but Purdy, right,
it's Debo and Kittle and McCaffrey and Iyuk, And last
(09:27):
night I thought it looked like all those guys are
still great, don't get me wrong, But Purdy was the
dude getting it done.
Speaker 3 (09:34):
And we've seen that in playoff games.
Speaker 1 (09:36):
I mean, he led them back against Green Bay and Detroit.
Speaker 3 (09:40):
You know, so I just think you may be right.
I mean, he's not.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
Going to get the full credit because he was mister
Relevant until he wins.
Speaker 4 (09:53):
The Super Bowl, and it's mister Irrelevant and that the
team had prior to success. It's not just mister irrelevant
because we talk about it all the time. Chris kirk
Warner wasn't mister irrelevant, but he was bagging grosserys worse.
Speaker 6 (10:06):
He didn't even get drafted exactly. He was bagging groceries
and playing in the.
Speaker 4 (10:09):
Arena Football League or something, right, and he wanted not
one of the m v P and the and the
right and the Super Bowl MVP. Right, he was unbelieable
out of nowhere, out of nowhere, so.
Speaker 1 (10:21):
And lifted that team, right, And I agree with all that, right,
and it is what it is.
Speaker 3 (10:26):
It's I can't say it's unfair.
Speaker 1 (10:29):
I mean, you gotta give the dude props for the
production he's had, but I get the perception. It's just,
you know, there's some guys that we were great in
college get drafted. Like I always say it, Ron, if
party was drafted in the first round, heck, if he
was drafted and the third right, we're having a conversation,
(10:51):
everybody'd already be thinking he's great.
Speaker 6 (10:55):
I agree.
Speaker 4 (10:56):
I think that your draft position does have something to
do with it. And we know that U, Joe Montana
and Tom Brady weren't drafted high.
Speaker 6 (11:05):
Chris or whatever.
Speaker 4 (11:06):
Brady six round but they came from storied schools, you
know what I mean, and had a bit of a
pedigree even though they weren't they did, you know what,
And and.
Speaker 6 (11:15):
That's what came. Brady came from Michigan, right.
Speaker 4 (11:20):
Like from Iowa, came from southern Connecticut or something technical
agric whatever.
Speaker 6 (11:28):
What you're getting?
Speaker 5 (11:29):
All right?
Speaker 1 (11:30):
Well, speaking of another quarterback not with the greatest pedigree,
Aaron Rodgers from cal but obviously has proven to be
one of the greatest ever throw the football. We'll talk
about what he looked like last night and should the
Jets be concerned. That's next is Chris a robbed The
Odd Couple Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (13:16):
Rob last night Aaron Rodgers thirteen for twenty one one
hundred and sixty seven yards, one touchdown, one pick, only
sacked once he got good protection. We know we talked
a lot about that with the offensive line for the Jets,
where they be able to protect him. He is forty
years old and he got good protection.
Speaker 6 (13:36):
You gotta protect that.
Speaker 3 (13:37):
Yeah, yeah, he was okay, he was solid.
Speaker 1 (13:40):
You heard Heim from Zalim say he thought he made
some really nice crows.
Speaker 6 (13:44):
It's fine, he wasn't.
Speaker 1 (13:46):
It didn't look special to me. I've said Rob that
I and it's only one game. I'm not gonna make
any long term judgments on Rogers just yet because it
was his first game, and his first game robbed back
after a year and a half. He hadn't played since
January of twenty twenty three, so it's almost two years really,
(14:09):
and he's with a new team, new receivers, the whole
nine yards, coming off a serious injury. So I get
all that, and you have to take that into consideration,
and you.
Speaker 4 (14:20):
Could say, what I mean, Chris, he had some throws?
Was he Aaron Rodgers of old MVPR. No, he wasn't.
But it wasn't like, oh my god, oh he looks.
It wasn't not at all like you know what I
mean right right where.
Speaker 1 (14:35):
It's the best quarterback played the Jets of scene since
Brett Farr.
Speaker 4 (14:39):
You know, I mean, really so sad though, it's so
sad yeah, because it's been bad.
Speaker 3 (14:46):
Right, But I've said, Rob, I.
Speaker 1 (14:49):
Expect him to be somewhere between the Aaron Rodgers of
his last year in Green Bay where he wasn't great,
and the MVP Aaron Rodgers the year before where he
was great.
Speaker 4 (14:59):
That's all he needs, though, is to be between.
Speaker 1 (15:02):
I thought he was more like the guy his last year.
He wasn't in between.
Speaker 6 (15:07):
He was close.
Speaker 1 (15:08):
He was basically like the guy in his last year
in Green Bay. So if people want to be skeptical,
I get it, but I'm going to reserve a little
bit of judgment, uh for now.
Speaker 4 (15:17):
Yeah, it's hard to be skeptical off of one game
where he hadn't played in the year. I just think
it's unfair Chris. No training, no no preseason games action.
You could practice all you want, there's no games, right,
I mean, I don't know what.
Speaker 1 (15:36):
First time you're taking a hit since the achilles A
real hit.
Speaker 6 (15:41):
Yeah, you know what I mean.
Speaker 3 (15:43):
He's never getting hitt in practice anymore.
Speaker 1 (15:45):
And that's why so many teams and quarterbacks ride were
rusty and week one. Let's face it, the first month
of the season is they're they're still getting in football
shape because these teams don't hit anymore in practice, and
so I don't care what you do is going to
be different in the games because you're actually there's the
(16:08):
threat now of getting hit, particularly if you're a quarterback.
But Rob, it's interesting because one of the things I'm
wondering wondering about with Rogers is you remember, like throughout
his I mean, his great career, he was a guy
that did not want a lot of like pre snap
(16:30):
motion receivers running in motion and things like that. He
wanted to just line up and kind of play kind
of simplistic offense. But that's what he wanted and he's
obviously thrived that way. Then he has a couple down
years injuries were a big part of it, and then
Mike McCarthy ends up being fired.
Speaker 3 (16:52):
They bring in Matt Lafleur.
Speaker 1 (16:53):
Lafleur insists on having a lot of pre snap motion
kind of modernizes Rogers offense, and Rogers is spectacular, wins
two MVPs in three years. And I do wonder Rob
because now obviously they don't have Matt Lafleur Rogers, and
(17:14):
Matt Hackett is the offensive coordinator, but you know he's
kind of probably doing what Rogers tells him to do.
Speaker 4 (17:19):
But he was there in Green Bay when he won
those tours. Yeah, but he wasn't called him the players.
Speaker 3 (17:23):
It was on the floor.
Speaker 1 (17:24):
But he's kind of I feel like he's Rogers, yes, ma'am.
And so last night you saw a simplistic offense, not
a lot of motion and movement and things like that.
And I wonder I do want And I'm not saying
I'm right. I don't have a decision yet. I want
to watch it and see, but I do wonder if
(17:45):
at forty rob without the mobility he used to have,
if Rogers does need a more sophisticated offense like he
had with Matt Lafleur.
Speaker 6 (18:01):
I don't know. I don't know because it's only what
I mean. I mean that I haven't answered.
Speaker 4 (18:07):
That's the hard part, that we don't know what the
offense is, yes, right, you know what I mean?
Speaker 6 (18:11):
Do we really know what it is? Well?
Speaker 1 (18:13):
I think we know what their offense is, but we
we don't know what he is.
Speaker 4 (18:17):
Right at this point, right, We just we just don't know.
And and Chris, as time goes on and he gets
more comfortable and shake some of the rust off, could
could they change stuff, put some wrinkles.
Speaker 3 (18:30):
In, you know what I mean, And he sorry ride
with Tom Brady.
Speaker 1 (18:33):
Remember in Tampa's first year they were they were okay,
kind of mediocre, and then he starts instituting more of
the offense that he wonted with Bruce Arians and they
took off and obviously won the Super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (18:46):
So yeah, you're you're right that that certainly.
Speaker 6 (18:48):
It could change. Now.
Speaker 4 (18:49):
The Jets had the sixth lowest motion in the NFL
yesterday Chris fifty and on the flip side, forty nine ers.
Speaker 6 (18:58):
That's all they do is motion in the ocean.
Speaker 1 (19:01):
Everybody's moving right right, And so I just wonder he
hasn't needed needed that because he's been so good individually athletically,
and you wonder now there's he's obviously not the athlete
he used to be because of his age and the injury.
And so it's just something to watch for. Yes, you
(19:23):
watch the Jets, you know, and Aaron Rodgers. But I
think rob these next few weeks are gonna tell us
what we need to know.
Speaker 4 (19:30):
Well, they got me, and so this is a chance
to to to cut loose Chris, you know what I mean,
like try some stuff, figure it out. Let's see what
Aaron has. Air it out a little bit, do some
different things, like here's your chance.
Speaker 6 (19:48):
Who's coming up next? Tennessee, Tennessee. I'm sorry, I just Tennessee.
Speaker 1 (19:52):
Tennessee at Tennessee, host New England, hosts Denver, and even
host Minnesota. So three of their next four are actually home.
In fact, they play a host Buffalo after that. That'd
obviously be.
Speaker 3 (20:09):
But I'm robbed. They should be four and one.
Speaker 1 (20:12):
You can live with three and two, You're fine.
Speaker 3 (20:19):
But if I'm a Jets fan, and I don't.
Speaker 1 (20:22):
Obviously fans want their teams to win all the game games,
but I'm really looking at this like, if we're gonna
let's be four and one, let's be cause they're gonna
lose some of their other words Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Houston, you know, Arizona,
indian Indianapolis, Seattle.
Speaker 3 (20:40):
I mean, those are pretty good teams.
Speaker 1 (20:41):
They're beatable, for sure, So their schedule isn't a killer schedule,
rob which is good for them, and it shouldn't be
because you know, they've been a bad team the last
few years and that's how it works. But yeah, if
they could get out to a four to one, start Rob,
and then maybe you know they'll have momentum, they'll have
(21:02):
confidence on both sides of the ball, and that's what
you want to see. Three and two you can live with,
but it should be four and one.
Speaker 3 (21:13):
All right.
Speaker 1 (21:14):
It's the odd couple, Chris and Rob. One of the teams,
the Jets will play down the line. The Pittsburgh Steelers.
They got a quarterback situation going on. We'll get into
that next.
Speaker 2 (21:26):

Speaker 3 (21:40):
Trash talking Tuesday. That's all right, not yet, but you can.
Speaker 1 (21:45):
Start calling in eight seven, seven, nine, nine, six, sixty
three sixty nine. You'll get thirty to forty seconds to
trash anyone or anything in the world of sports, all right, Rob.
Speaker 3 (21:55):
Justin Fields.
Speaker 1 (21:57):
Mike Tomlin said that there are preparing as if he
will be the starter.
Speaker 3 (22:03):
In week two.
Speaker 1 (22:04):
They got an eighteen to ten win over an Atlanta
team that most people, including myself, have picked to make
the playoffs, and so he's one to Oh, he's keeping
the job for another week. It looks like, what are
your thoughts on this?
Speaker 4 (22:20):
He's got to play better. I mean, Chris, he had
a golden opportunity. We talked about it about Russell Wilson
getting out there being wally pipped Chris where you know,
and and for people don't know, look it up. I
know you guys are young, but he actually played first
base for the Yankees before Lou Garrick.
Speaker 8 (22:38):
The iron Man, Chris, he took the day off, he
had a headache or something, took the day off, and
Lou Garrick played the next two thousand, three hundred some games,
which is just unbelievable when you think about he was
the first baseman before that.
Speaker 6 (22:52):
But anyway, so.
Speaker 4 (22:57):
He just didn't make him a case in week one,
six field goals, Chris. I mean, it's more of the same,
like like it could have been a moment there, like
if he played well, like say they rolled and whatever,
he'd be like, dude, of course he's playing next week.
Let's go again, and now you're looking for another silver
(23:18):
lining this coming week. And he's got to play better
in order for them to really think that they got
something and they can turn the page on Russell Wilson
otherwise you gotta go back to Russell Wilson.
Speaker 1 (23:31):
I look, I'm not gonna sit here and act like
he was fantastic, because he wasn't like you said, eighteen
to ten, six field goals, no touchdowns from Justin fields.
What I will say is this, he wasn't bad like
he's not. He was efficient seventeen for twenty three, passing
only one hundred and fifty six yards, So he wasn't
(23:53):
lighting the world off.
Speaker 6 (23:53):
Not no, no fight.
Speaker 5 (23:54):
Right.
Speaker 1 (23:55):
He did throw the ball pretty well downfield. He had
like three downfield passes to George Pickens that were good.
And the key is he didn't turn the ball over.
But Robbie also ran for sixty yards fourteen carreas for
fifty seven yards. So I believe, like the Steelers, we
(24:15):
know how they're gonna win defense, which their defense was great,
and running the football and then passing wisely and officially.
I believe that's why one reason why Russell Wilson had
the starting job was because he wasn't, you know, in
theory and really just throughout their careers. He's not gonna
(24:36):
turn the ball over like.
Speaker 4 (24:38):
Justin will turnover guy. All it takes Chris is a
couple of fumbles on Sunday and you'll go back to, no,
we can't have this.
Speaker 6 (24:46):
And here's the other problem.
Speaker 4 (24:48):
For all the defense and running the ball and all that,
it just hasn't gotten the Steelers anything come postseason times.
Speaker 3 (24:56):
They're not a championship. No, No, will Son or Field.
Speaker 4 (25:00):
No. I'm just saying, but it's not like that formula,
some winning formula that has gotten him anywhere as all them.
Speaker 1 (25:08):
Well, I mean historically it has, because it's been you know,
Bettest's pretty coheris I mean, I'm talking about not in
the last yeah, not modern flyer, not in the last
eight years or whatever.
Speaker 3 (25:19):
It's been right right now, pretty lean, there's no doubt.
Speaker 1 (25:22):
But what I'm saying, though, Rob, is if Justin Fields
doesn't turn the ball over, and if he remains efficient
completing sixty five percent or more of his passes, then
he could remain the starter, even if he's not putting
up great numbers. Because all Russell Wilson, from what we've
(25:45):
seen the last two years, what Russell Russell Wilson's gonna
play basically like Justin Fields did on Saturday, he might
or Sunday he might be a little better but.
Speaker 6 (25:58):
Goals.
Speaker 1 (26:00):
You look at last year they had trouble scoring the
Reds and now I know he did score have twenty
six touchdowns passing, but he only threw for two hundred
yards a game.
Speaker 3 (26:11):
And so I'm just.
Speaker 1 (26:13):
Saying neither Russell hasn't shown you at this point he's
gonna be this great quarterback what he used to be
in Seattle. And so if Fields is efficient, doesn't turn
the ball over, they're winning to a decent degree. I
think he could keep the job because one thing Fields
(26:35):
does bring that Wilson doesn't at this stage of his
career is the dynamic factor with his legs, and the
defense always has to worry about preparing for that. So
when the opponent is going through the week and getting
ready to play the Steelers, if Fields is a quarterback,
they have to account for Okay, remember he might if
(26:59):
he gets out of the pot, he might run and
this dude can take it to the house. You always
have to worry about that with him and account for
that both during the week of preparation and in the game.
With Wilson, you don't, so I agree with you that
Fields has not been great and has not you know,
been so good that Pitts murg Is like, oh it's over.
Speaker 3 (27:21):
It's no, That's what I'm saying. He wasn't that bad
on Sunday.
Speaker 1 (27:29):
And like I said, if he doesn't turn it over
and they're winning, he could keep it because of that
factory has with his legs that Wilson no longer has.
But we'll see it's gonna be interesting, Rob welling out.
Speaker 6 (27:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (27:42):
And the other thing too is and you said it,
if he doesn't turn his history is turning the ball over. Ye,
Like he didn't do it on Sunday, Chris, but his
history is turning the ball over. So if he really
cleans that up, then maybe you got a shot. But
the idea because when he turns it over or what
are people going to say, Oh, there we go, you know, like,
(28:03):
oh yeah, because he has that m all right, So
every time he makes a interception fumbles football, they're gonna
be like, oh no, this is here we go again.
Speaker 6 (28:13):
This guy can't hold on to the football.
Speaker 3 (28:15):
And when you don't have a.
Speaker 1 (28:19):
You know, high powered offense, turnovers are even that much
or costly. Because if Kansas City turns it over, okay,
well Mahomes will go get us, get us a touchdown.
You can't say that. With Pittsburgh you might not score
for three quarters. So it is huge. Now Rob, They've
got Denver, that's their next game. And that's interesting because
(28:42):
you know Russ wants to play.
Speaker 6 (28:43):
Because Russ, the.
Speaker 3 (28:45):
Reports of Russ wanted to play last Sunday, and so.
Speaker 6 (28:50):
To me, I thought I thought that was the case.
Speaker 3 (28:52):
Rob.
Speaker 1 (28:53):
This seems like a decision to me where they are
Because I said it, I think you may have said
it too. But the best case scenario, the dream scenario
for the Steelers this year, is not that Russell Wilson
is great and leads him somewhere.
Speaker 3 (29:10):
It's the justin fields is he shows you, right, he
shows you that he's your quarterback of the future, but
also dreams.
Speaker 1 (29:18):
So I think what they're looking at Russ might be
able to play.
Speaker 3 (29:22):
For all, we don't.
Speaker 6 (29:22):
He wanted to play. Well, he don't know if he's capable.
He was inactive but had on shoulder pads.
Speaker 1 (29:28):
Cryst Well, he was their emergency quarterback. He was their third, Yeah,
their third emergency quarterback. But you're right, like so he
might in his mind be ready to go out there,
but Pittsburgh may be saying, look, we just what I said,
We're gonna see what fields can do.
Speaker 6 (29:43):
But I'll tell you how quickly it could turn.
Speaker 4 (29:46):
Fields could have two or three turnovers or whatever, and
then they can sower on him.
Speaker 6 (29:51):
That's as they should.
Speaker 4 (29:53):
No, I know, but I'm saying that's how quick it
could turn, because then what they'll say is, well, he
had six field goals.
Speaker 6 (29:59):
They didn't you have a touchdown.
Speaker 4 (30:00):
I'm just saying, and now he's turning the ball over
like then you're gonna say, you won't even.
Speaker 1 (30:06):
Have to explain, right, you won't even have to explain it.
And that's where I think. I mean, I hate to
say they're in a no lose situation because they don't
have a quarterback. That's their issue. But what I will
say is just with what they have, it's kind of
a good situation considering their parts. In that look, we
(30:26):
can play fields right now. See if he can learn,
See if he can continue to get better, See if
he can continue to be efficient and maybe do something
special with his legs.
Speaker 3 (30:37):
And if he rob if he does go back.
Speaker 1 (30:39):
To turning the ball over, we can always go to
Russ And so you know, it's not a bad situation
with fields doing what he did last week, which again
wasn't terrific, but he was solid enough. I don't think
you need to bench him now, not for Russ, who
we don't know what Russ has left, and so keep
(31:02):
his confidence high, see what he can do.
Speaker 3 (31:05):
And then if he's so bad that it's obvious.
Speaker 1 (31:08):
To him and everybody else that you need to benching,
then you can obviously go back to Russell Wilson. All right,

Speaker 4 (34:10):

Oh what a Dan? Wow?
Speaker 5 (34:49):
Well, yesterday I happened to be listening to Cavino and
Rich Okay, give them a plaug. I was on hold
for an hour and a half and I finally hung
out because I finally got over my madness.
Speaker 3 (35:03):
I said, well, I really wanted to talk to him.
Speaker 6 (35:06):
What happened? What did damn Bayer do?
Speaker 5 (35:09):
Well? They were talking football, which was cool. Then they
talked about the Giants' uniforms, how atrocious they were. Right, well,
Dan made the mistake of comparing their uniforms to the
Montreal Canadians. I almost choked. I've taken a drink and
(35:31):
I almost choked. Yes, I mean on my left arm,
I got the Montreal Canadians. On my right arm, I
got the Boston Red Sox. He could have said the
Red Sox. They're red and blue and with a little
bit of white.
Speaker 6 (35:44):
But don't mess with the halves, no doubt about it.
Speaker 5 (35:48):
Oh, definitely not the most story franchised in NHL history.
He wouldn't have said that about the stars and stripes,

Speaker 10 (36:10):
Man?
Speaker 11 (36:11):
I am trashing on behalf of my Falcon friends. I'm
trashing the Falcons management and Kirk Cousins, right, So you know,
it's like an equity firm, you know, like they're wasting
your stock and they're trying to sell you a stock.
There's no good So you know, if we have to
watch this trash here, you know, because we don't get
any other games because I refused to buy the NFL
(36:33):
Sunday ticket at this stage in my life, you know,
So if you're gonna make me watch that garbage, you
know what I'm saying, at least put something out on
the field that there's worth watching.
Speaker 9 (36:43):
You know.
Speaker 11 (36:43):
I remember as a kid watching Wild Kingdom and I
learned that the slowest Debra will always, you know, be
the one that dies. So Kirk Cousins is like the
three legged Dibra among the prize lions. So my point
is you know, do him like can do any other
wounded Hamma. Put him in a petting jew listen school
(37:04):
age kids, feed him some colonels of corn and put
Michael Pennix on the field. Because if I gotta are
you ready to watch?
Speaker 3 (37:10):
You ready for Pennis? Already? Yeah?
Speaker 11 (37:13):
I said, if I gotta watch something because I can't
get any other out of market games, please give me
something decent to watch. Put k Kirk cousins in that
petting jew let some kids feed them some colonels of
corn because you know, and then let's get something worth
watching if I gotta watch it. Man, So hey, you
know that's it.
Speaker 6 (37:31):
There you go. Thanks.
Speaker 4 (37:32):
Chief Rudy in New Jersey, you're on the couple of

Speaker 10 (38:58):
Not because he's breaking up the hodcome miss rob Gara,
because we've known about this for a minute. I'm trashing
Chris because he decided that he needed to not only
leave the show, he wanted to have a two week
farewell tour so that every caller that calls.
Speaker 6 (39:14):
In can worship in. That's for another ten shows. Yes,
And he's the one who leaked it to the New
York Post.
Speaker 3 (39:19):
That's right. Oh, No, I did not.
Speaker 1 (39:21):
They texted me Rob you know word text me before.
Speaker 3 (39:25):
Hey, you're right, Yeah, I said nah, no comment though.
Speaker 6 (39:30):
But and you can't lie to them. You can't say
it's not true because you do that.
Speaker 1 (39:34):
You either gotta yeah, talk and tell the truth or
just just don't talk.
Speaker 3 (39:38):
Yeah. I just said no comment. So are we got
an hour?
Speaker 5 (39:41):
Left?
Speaker 3 (39:41):
Y'all know what to do?
Speaker 6 (39:43):
Keep it locked.
Speaker 3 (39:44):
A couple
