Speaker 1 (00:26):
Fox Sports Radio, The Odd Couple, kelvin Washington, my guy
Kerrie Rose and for Rob Parker. Rob outs enjoying some
vacate time, hitting up some stadiums around the country, some
family time. So I'm happy for him. Because of course,
by the way, let me make fun of him too.
According to him, he never takes days off. He's the
hardest workingman. And I'm like, no, you can take some
days off. He only counts vacation if his like eight
(00:48):
nine days plus. So mind you, it's two days here,
it's three days here, it's four days in alex I
never take a day off.
Speaker 3 (00:55):
He's like, no, Rob, you do. I've been here a
couple of times, and I know that.
Speaker 1 (00:59):
He tries to shame me and Rob g because we
want to take some days off less or because because
Alex will have a Monday suns out, Buns out, and
then he would want to Yeah, sons out, buns out.
Speaker 3 (01:11):
Yeah, pretty yes, it's kind of a regular thing. Okay, cool,
you know, I get it. You come through carry yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
I'm down. It's a good time.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
Oh so that's your outside. Okay, Yeah, that's.
Speaker 3 (01:26):
A lot to get to.

(02:08):
in your sport in the NFL, there's some news that
came out about Justin Tucker. Kind of a conversation Rob
and I had a few times during the process what
we thought would happen, what we thought of just how
it was handled, maybe the lack of conversation, how it
kind of slid under the radar because it rolled perfect
timing into the playoffs where our attension was there.
Speaker 3 (02:28):
Now it is out.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
He is gonna have be ten weeks suspended for ten weeks,
It starts August twenty six right, rog g got is correct?
Speaker 4 (02:35):
If for anybody who doesn't know the background, Justin Tucker
was accused of sexual misconduct by sixteen different massage therapists
from eight different spas in the Baltimore area from twenty
twelve to twenty sixteen. All right, Now, since then, Tucker
has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing, and that did not seem
(02:56):
to matter to the NFL, because, as you mentioned, they
announced today that he has been suspended for the first
ten weeks of the upcoming NFL regular season. He is
eligible for reinstatements starting November eleventh. Key thing, though, is
he is currently a free agent, not in anybody's roster,
So this suspension really has much ado about nothing because
he's not under team anyways.
Speaker 1 (03:17):
Carry I know you want to cook on this one,
get your Bobby flayir No, the whole thing with this
whole Justin Tucker thing was for me, the coverage, the
conversation we didn't have that. It kind of came out
and people were like, oh, like kind of taking a back,
but nobody really said anything about it. And we had
(03:37):
a situation very similar that happened to a quarterback right
that that was in Houston ended up in Cleveland, and
people won't let that go at all. I mean, they're
still talking about that and they're you know, obviously very
strongly opinionated about it. But when it comes to Justin
Tucker in this situation, all right, he said he hasn't
(03:59):
done anything and yet, so we're gonna we're gonna be
patient and we're gonna wait till all the facts come out.
That just rubbed me the wrong way. Like, if you're
gonna be consistent, be consistent when you cover something, when
you cover somebody, doesn't matter who they are, doesn't matter
that the quarterback the kicker. Doesn't matter if you're African American,
doesn't matter if you're white. Like keep the conversation the same.
(04:20):
And so the fact that none of this was really
happening in this situation, even now with the suspension, you
go on Twitter, that's not trending. When Deshaun Watson went
through that process, I mean, it was a topic of everybody.
Speaker 3 (04:34):
It was just a topic of everybody's discussions.
Speaker 5 (04:36):
And so the fact that this isn't that And I
like Justin I like Justin Tucker for as the player
that he is. I don't know him personally, but you
can tell, like some of the stuff that he was doing,
you could tell he was he had a little more
about him as a kicker. We don't usually see that often,
the personality of it. And you know him wearing the
gold chains and the way he talks, and people don't
(04:57):
talk about that. But I mean, this is a real
conversation if you're out there doing this stuff and you're
not owning up to it, and you're putting people in compromising,
compromising positions like we need to we need answers, And
the fact that he's not even anybody, He hasn't even
said anything really to the public.
Speaker 3 (05:15):
Wardy.
Speaker 5 (05:16):
I mean, he's issued a statement and kind of disappear
and now he's off the team. Like, I want to
know more. I need the conversation to be a little
bit more enriched. For me, that was adorable. I'm gonna
tell you why that was adorable.
Speaker 1 (05:30):
Well, because you sound like what oftentimes we wanted to be.
I know you not all that well, but I know
you enough.
Speaker 3 (05:38):
Yep.
Speaker 1 (05:38):
We always talk about you, me on the mic and
off the mic, authenticity being who you are. You know
Spectrum News one where I'm the morning anchor there. You've
done to La stories with Jaselle Fernandez. So that's why
I really got your full story. She dived deep into
your life and everything. I say that to say for
a real reason. One of the things that has been
a challenge for me for years is nuance. Very nuanced.
(06:01):
I'm very understanding. I can contextualize, I can understand, like,
oh well, I see how what should be and what
I realize. Brother Deshaun Watson, first and foremost is a quarterback.
That's the big position in the NFL, right, and we're
going to talk about that to nauseum. He's the star.
We're gonna talk about it, especially because he's a star.
He was balling when that's came out with the Shaun Watson, Yeah,
(06:23):
MVP candidate just about to go free agency, get a bag,
the whole nine. Also, I do believe we live in
it and the rod go full Rob Parker is this
thing on race matters in America. And when you have
a star black filling the blank politician, entertainer, athlete, I
believe that makes things even more hot button topic, like
(06:43):
everybody wants to talk about that's just me. You can
say I'm wrong, but I don't. I don't. I strongly
believe that. So now you have a young black, great quarterback,
hot playing very well, MVP making Superman plays all of
that may his news for fodder, and they kept rolling
out right. It was like one, two, okay, sin him, Okay,
(07:06):
it's fifteen. And it kind of got Bill Cosby like
where the numbers just got great. Okay, this is is
almost comical, not even it's not a funny matter, but
just the numbers got so high.
Speaker 3 (07:14):
So I think that played a role.
Speaker 1 (07:16):
Also, Justin Tucker's a kicker, Justin Tucker's old and as
far as sports, you know, it was he thirty five
and sports that's old and pardon my French, he sucked
last year, now chicken her egg theory? Did he suck?
Because all this was in the back of his head
and he knew it was coming. He knew it was
out there, and he getting a little nervous. He said, oh, shoot,
in any minute, I know the story's gonna break. Because
(07:37):
anything you know anything about journalism, They've called him, They've
called his agent, they've called his family, they've called this
They checked in with the team.
Speaker 3 (07:42):
Hey, Raven, do you have anything, He said, We're gonna
put the story out here. Anything.
Speaker 1 (07:46):
Yeah, Journalism, especially real journalists, they go through the proper channels,
they go through lawyers. They hey, everything kosher, We're gonna
put this story out.
Speaker 3 (07:55):
Is this legal? Can we do this?
Speaker 1 (07:57):
Point being he knew this was coming, yeah, And when
you got something weighing on you that heavy, that can
affect your play, your work, anybody, all of us.
Speaker 3 (08:04):
Right.
Speaker 1 (08:06):
So I wonder if he would have been as bad
if this was not there. No, But what makes this
also the timing perfect is we've seen enough of his
career that if a kicker is to go on the
Hall of Fame, he has the credentials to get in
the Hall of Fame. Right point is he's already done
most of his career. He's already been a prolific kicker.
So he has the good fortune where he can just
(08:29):
fade away. Now, Carrie, you know what I mean, and
just kind of just can just go away. We're talking
about the NBA Draft, we just talked about the finals,
we're getting ready to talk about Shoe Hay's pitch, all
this stuff.
Speaker 3 (08:38):
Well, he kind of just fade.
Speaker 1 (08:39):
It worked out perfectly for him because if he were
twenty eight kicking sixty six yard or sixty eight yards
winning games, and this would be hot fodder. We'd be
talking about it more. But my last point here, Carrie,
is one thing I know about the NFL. As long
as you aren't kneeling for the issues of Black America,
anything else can get you.
Speaker 3 (08:59):
Back in the league. Yea.
Speaker 1 (09:02):
And what I mean by that is, come make late
November and a team is sitting there ten and four,
you know, or you know, eight, eight and three, something
like that, and they're like, man, our kicker just went
down and we got a chance to really make a
deep playoff run.
Speaker 3 (09:20):
The Bills, the Lions, something like that.
Speaker 1 (09:24):
Please believe all will be forgiven, forgotten and justin Tucker's
phone will ring. Oh yeah, because you can domestic violence,
sale drugs, do drugs, say the N word, Riley Cooper,
kill somebody, And I mean that respectively. Dantee Stalworth, I'm
not don't even not need trying to be funny, Dantee
stalwarth you know, drunk driving?
Speaker 3 (09:41):
Oh that point, yeah, yep. Yeah. My point is anything
can get you back in the league.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
It doesn't matter if you're still good or we need you,
except for kneeling for the rights of black Americans.
Speaker 3 (09:49):
That's a whole nother thing. Colin Kaepernick.
Speaker 1 (09:51):
So my point is, as much as I'm like, oh
he's out, he wasn't played, he wasn't good last year,
his agent's phone might re ain't come late November because
if somebody needs him, the ten weeks have gone by
and they're like, you know what, people ain't thinking about that.
No more call him. We need a kicker for this
playoff push. Oh am I wrong? No, no, no, no, that's
(10:12):
that's a that's a given.
Speaker 3 (10:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (10:13):
I mean if a team needs if a team, if
a team's need is extreme.
Speaker 3 (10:20):
They go extreme measures. He's a Hall of Fame kicker.
Speaker 5 (10:23):
There's nothing about his talent, nothing about any of that
at all, Like that's part of the NFL. Yes, they
will hire you if they need you. I'm just the
thing that baffles me about this is just the complexity
to both of these stories. They're both complex, they're both rumors.
But one just we we covered it at nauseum, right yep,
this one was not that. And just because he's a kicker,
(10:47):
and just because he's on his way out the league
or possibly out the league, that's not the point. The
point is cover it the same. And that's the part
that it just I don't.
Speaker 1 (10:57):
Like saying your T shirt keeps, it turns into a
soup and your voice starting to sound more of a
dream than One day you do something wrong and everybody's
gonna talk about the wrong is wrong, and I hear you,
and I'm with you, but it's unfortunately, man, it doesn't
work that way. Somebody else can do something and somebody,
you know, whatever the thing is, whether because they're more famous,
(11:20):
or they're in a bigger team, or it's a race thing, whatever,
we just America will pick and choose who they choose
to make you know an example of or be the
hot topic, or it just happens that way, because if
you're justin Tucker to you, he sure they ain't talking
about me too too much, right, It's.
Speaker 5 (11:39):
Crazy, But think about it right now, in the world
that we live in, where it is hot topics, it
is whatever's trending is the thing, right. I mean, we
have all these entertainment people getting you know, getting called
out every other week, and it's hot for that moment,
and you get it.
Speaker 3 (11:55):
I think that's the other part of it.
Speaker 2 (11:56):
Though.
Speaker 5 (11:57):
We live in the world right now where everything is
such a hot topic and everything is so quick, and
the news feed turns over so quick. I think that
may be Oh no, no, no, let me tell you something.
Speaker 1 (12:06):
So there's a there's a whole La City council craziness
that happened a couple of years back. They got caught
in some racist stuff on tape. Now you live here,
so maybe you might remember, and I won't get into
all that, but right anyway, one person actually, well Kevin DeLeon,
and he was on he was part of the tape,
and you know, there was some racist stuff going on
(12:26):
and everybody else kind of bowed out. I'm gonna resign
or you know, because that's what you do historically, right,
you get caught up in a scandal, you you fall
on the sword.
Speaker 3 (12:34):
Forgive me. I was wrong. No, no, no, no, right.
Speaker 1 (12:37):
One thing we've learned, especially with politicians lately, they have
learned what you said. The news cycle will end. I'll
push through. I'll stand on this for a minute. You
guys will forget you move on, We'll go on to
the next you know, big topic. You'll go on to
the next scandal. And here I'll stand right. And that
has happened so many different people. Kind of the shame
is gone. It's like, yeah, I did that, My bad,
(12:59):
that was crazy. So what you resigned? Now, I'm good.
You're stepping down. And I think if you just stand
on business now, even if the business is wrong. Nowadays,
we'll go that's wrong, that's wrong. There's the other thing,
and we'll move on to whatever the hot topic is. Now.
You see a lot of people staying in positions were
historically they would do the you know, I'm sorry I
(13:19):
did that, and I mean and then I'm gonna bow
down and I'm gonna pass the paton.
Speaker 3 (13:23):
And now that's not happening.
Speaker 1 (13:24):
Nowadays a lot of people are like, So Carrie brings
up a point eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox.
We'll just take a couple of calls on if you
want to get in on it. Just justin Tucker, did
we cover it enough? Was it just not big enough
for you?
Speaker 3 (13:38):
Does?
Speaker 1 (13:39):
Does your we are stature matter how big you are
or how famous you are eight seven seven ninety nine
on Fox? Or should we be covering these things equally?
Does fame matter in all of this? We'll get into that. Also,
something happened in MLB a few nights ago that I
want to tee off on as well. It is The
Odd Couple. Kelvin Washington carry rolls in for Rod Fox Radio.
Speaker 2 (14:00):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Rob Parker and Kelvin Washington weekdays at seven pm Eastern,
four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 3 (14:13):
Give me a high.
Speaker 6 (14:14):
Five, Yeah uh yeah, j Hollie Alex on the ones
he Two's.
Speaker 1 (14:26):
Man, It's just I used to love this intro. Man,
it was just so cool. The Wayne's brothers. If you
don't know we're talking about, it's stead couple. Kelvin Washington.
Kerry Rose in for Rob on a TV Themes song Thursday.
Speaker 3 (14:38):
I hit it's so good today. That's fine, Hey, sometimes
you gotta do that.
Speaker 1 (14:41):
In about seven minutes or so, Mark Funky Comdina gonna
join us here we talk some draft the day two
happening him. You got folks getting drafted as we speak, man,
and real quick while I while I'm saying this, they
drafted who I'll tell you they drafted. Actually, I'm gonna
leave that to I lo here coming up in a
bit with what's trending. We get caught up in Oh
Cooper fight, shouldn't he did? He's mainly this person all
he's gonna suck it. I just want to also say
(15:03):
congratulations to these young men because man, the hard work
that goes into it, the sacrifices, and as much as
we many these kids are entitled, they're spoiled. You know
how many things they couldn't go to because man, we
gotta go to this tournament. Can we go on a
little date?
Speaker 3 (15:18):
I can't.
Speaker 1 (15:18):
I got this game, yo, bro, We're about to have
Halo night or Call of Duty night. Can't do it,
dang man, I can't do it. I gotta go blaze
over here. We got this game. I got it, you
know what I mean, waking up at five am to
work out before school while all the rest of us
getting up for regular school. So I want to make
sure I say congratulations to all these young men families
some magical moment. It's a huge moment before we just
(15:40):
dissect everything. Terrible pick he sucks body wear that it's like, yo,
congrats to these young men for sure. For over forty years,
tirek has been helping customers find the right tires for
Howwood and where they drive shit fast and free back
by Freedom has a protection, They have convenient insallation options
like mobile tire insulation, tire reck dot com. It is
the way tire buying should be. My guy carry and
I was just talking about Justin Tucker Carries. One of
(16:02):
his main points was why didn't we cover this, Why
don't we talk about it the same way we did
Sean watching it should be apples for apples.
Speaker 3 (16:07):
I said, I'm with you. In the utopian world.
Speaker 1 (16:10):
This ain't that people like to equate things to fame
or different positions.
Speaker 3 (16:14):
He's a quarterback, he's a kicker. It should be what's
fair is fair.
Speaker 1 (16:17):
But that's not necessarily the case, but maybe you thought
we should do as well. Eight seven, seven ninety nine
on Fox. Will take a couple of calls real quick.
So to Brandon out on the riverside, Brandon, what's up man?
You're on the couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up?
Speaker 7 (16:29):
B good fellas is going on?
Speaker 8 (16:32):
Mister carry. It's my first time I've ever called him.
Speaker 3 (16:34):
While you was on What's up?
Speaker 1 (16:36):
Man?
Speaker 3 (16:36):
How you doing? Brother?
Speaker 8 (16:38):
I'm good, I'm good. You're doing good? Now, Rob, Rob here,
we don't harass you.
Speaker 3 (16:44):
No, it's good.
Speaker 1 (16:45):
I mean I still miss it, like the crazy uncle
you missed.
Speaker 8 (16:48):
You know, I missing right exactly, That's all. Yeah, what
you got be The funny part is I forgot all
about him to you guys's And it's crazy how it
is different with you know, I guess Sporter bats and
especially if you're just a young, rich black man in America.
But yeah, I feel like it should get it should
(17:12):
get the same you know, exposure as Deshaun Watson, because
they they still you know, shunning him and telling him
that he's the worst person ever. If I ever saw
him around my daughter, I just shoot him. But I mean, here,
it goes the same guy. He's yes, he's white, he's
a kicker. Here's you know, here's the word.
Speaker 7 (17:33):
Because he has a.
Speaker 8 (17:34):
Family and a wife and he's still doing these acts
and he's still the meaning women in the world. That's
not cool and you know harassing. I mean the same
way that they was trying to protect all of ye
it was.
Speaker 7 (17:47):
It was a lot to tryn Watson, it was a.
Speaker 8 (17:49):
Lot, but they were still trying to protect those women.
I guess the one that was really you.
Speaker 7 (17:54):
Know, harassing there.
Speaker 8 (17:55):
They should do the same thing, even though it's like
what I think, it's like fifteen women with Tucker years.
You still need to you still need to protect women
and talk about it and put it out there. But yeah,
you're right, it's here. We team he'll be on somebody
team is about to go to the super Bowl and
win the Super Bowls.
Speaker 3 (18:15):
All right, be appreciate it. You're gonna find a team
that's right there.
Speaker 1 (18:18):
The you know, the like I said, the Bills or uh,
you know some and then the Packers like, man.
Speaker 5 (18:24):
I want to keep saying the Bills too, because they
historically if they had a kicker, they probably would have
a couple Championship.
Speaker 1 (18:30):
Iron would be they get him and they're like, oh
my gosh, we're finally going to Super Bowl and like Karma,
that'd be funny. All right, let's go to Leo out
in the n L. I see Leo, what's up man?
You're on with the odd couple Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (18:42):
I guy Leo.
Speaker 7 (18:45):
Man Kelvin. As much as your new one sometimes kills me,
this one carry. I want to have a walking down
on the sewers shoe. I see the dreams. This is
not this is not the same kit. Rather because here
with the show, we had Tony Busby, the celebrity lawyer
(19:05):
who actually tried to put everything out there for public
assumption and try to try the case in the course
of public opinion. So that right there in itself created
like this huge massive media coverage around it. And also
sure you're you're you know you're standing and you're not
writing in the league also matters. I mean, remember Trevor
(19:27):
Bauer when he had his kids with MLB. As soon
as the Dodger got rid of him, we really didn't
talk about it anymore because he was out of the league.
And here we have the same thing going on with
him not being on a team, and we don't really
see him, unlike Deshaun who's still a quarterback on that league.
We kind of don't talk about it like that. So
I feel like that's you know, they're not similar cases,
(19:49):
even though I really want recovered to be the same,
but they're not really seeing my cases here.
Speaker 5 (19:54):
In my opinion, that's good point because the thing about yeah,
think about Trevor Bauw is his came out a couple
I think, like a month ago that you know he
won that he won that case.
Speaker 3 (20:03):
Oh yeah, and you hear nothing about that at all.
Speaker 1 (20:06):
Oh, by the way, we are notorious for that, boy,
and by we I mean society. That lie will spread
like wildfire. Boy, that truth was swept under the rug.
Speaker 3 (20:18):
Yes, he heard that Trevor Poward thing was the truth.
His problem was that nobody liked him. That's oh, listen,
that's problem. You know that. I know.
Speaker 1 (20:29):
No, it's not that personal. I'm saying I've been you know,
let's just say I've been there. I could I could
say it was difficult.
Speaker 4 (20:38):
We just look at his own team there, who is
the guy with the glasses?
Speaker 3 (20:41):
Who was the player? Yeah? The picture?
Speaker 4 (20:44):
No, no, no, he was he's not there anymore. But
he had two different instances of domestic violence with his wife.
Was curious, yes, and when he had the first one, like, hey,
he's a good kid.
Speaker 3 (20:56):
It was a mistake. We're gonna bring him back, Trevor Bower.
The first sign of anything happened. You know what, I know.
We gave one hundred million, but you can don't do this.
Speaker 1 (21:03):
And and he was having a really good year, a
couple of years where you think somebody would be like, hey,
we gotta get him. But when the work gets around,
and he was just he was a difficult carries. Sometimes
people are their own worst enemy. And I'm not even
I'm talking the other stuff aside. Yes, I'm just talking
about dude. You'd be sitting there at the press conference waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting.
Speaker 3 (21:24):
Or hanging out.
Speaker 1 (21:24):
Trevor Bowler will be up shortly. You're waiting waiting and wait,
come on, He's lay on the mic, hold on please,
and he sets up his own camera. You had to
wait for him to set up his own I'm dead serious.
You have to wait for his own camera to be
set up. Really, yep, his own mic. He'd have to
look at his own camera get oh you know, I
got my own page, my on YouTube situation. He would
get into a mob because they wouldn't allow him to
(21:47):
have like like certain logos and stuff on his branding
on like he would wear his own brand, like trying
to wear his page on the on the jersey like
or whatever. It just was always something and that was
I think it wasn't just the talent or the issue
with the other side. I think it's that he's just
hard to get along with. Somebody said, no, no, my,

gonna yelling at you and Rob always get into it.

Uh. By the way, man, everything good, blissful marriage, Mary life.
Speaker 9 (23:12):
Oh, I really fantastic, love it all, blessed personally and professionally.
Speaker 3 (23:18):
I love it man. Love to hear that. He'll text
me later. This is crazy. Why didn't you tell me?
Why didn't you tell me? We know? Brother? All right,
let's get to this.
Speaker 1 (23:32):
I'm gonna skip Cooper flag in the sense that for
months we kind of knew that.
Speaker 3 (23:36):
Uh, but I will say this. We can do the
draft side of it.
Speaker 1 (23:40):
Nico Harrison then comes out and says, oh, man, fans
should be happy because we're gonna be winning now, We're
gonna be winning later.
Speaker 3 (23:46):
This is it for the future. This is for the current.
Speaker 1 (23:49):
Do you by that portion of the Cooper Flag so
not so much who they drafted. We knew he was
the guy, but more so that now they can win
in the current and win in the future, and the
president I should.
Speaker 9 (23:59):
Say, well, I don't have any doubts about Cooper Flag's
role in that. I mean, the fast same thing when
you talk to people around the league is that even
though he doesn't have a defined skill set, he's very
good at everything and he impacts winning. But there are
a lot of question marks with the Mavericks, just namely
when Kyrie Irving's going to come back this season, if
at all, and when he does come back, because it's
an aco injury, you have to assume that he's not
(24:21):
going to play at the same level of calber that
people are used to seeing with Kyrie Irvings. So there's
a lot of things going for the Mavericks, you know,
and it's a big twist because a lot of things
went badly after Luca Doctor trade as well as injuries,
you know, they have long term extensions with you know everyone,
but there's question marks next season. Now they're not the
same kind of rebuilding team that usually have number one picks.
(24:44):
But to say okay, all's good now because they got
Cooper Flag and everything, No, there's still going to be
a lot of moving pieces. I think it starts with
when Kyrie Irving comes back, what version of it? And
then also Anthony Davis. Can he stay healthy? Now we've
seen since twenty twenty th stronger body of work, of
his durability, but obviously his MAVs debut he then was
(25:06):
out for six weeks. So those are the missing pieces.
But with Cooper Flag, even with all those uncertainties, I
think the key word here is adaptability. Talking to his
trainer Mac mackenzie, people around the league, they think that
he's very well equipped to adapt number one, number two,
number three role because of that versatal skill set.
Speaker 5 (25:25):
All right, Mark, let's stay with the mouse and one
more one more question here, and I want to ask you.
I know there's some names that they've been floating out there,
but they're looking to in the place of Kyrie Irvin
at a league guard to kind of be a stopgap,
be a starter until he gets back. Can you throw
some names that they've been looking at out there?
Speaker 9 (25:45):
Well, I guess D'Angel Russell comes to mind because of
how talented he is. But that would I think only
make sense if it's a stopgap measure, because he's a
great playmaker, great score. I think, you know, his market
value could take a dipsodes about Hey, this is a
nice discount. But we've seen time and time again he
just doesn't show up in the big moments. He's not
(26:06):
a great defender. No one's asking him to be an
all NBA defender, but even being a team defenders asking
a lot. And he's very high risk, high reward when
it comes to his you know, shooting decision making, his accuracy,
all that stuff. So I think it could be good
if it's a stopgap measure. But I think the dicey
thing is the Mavericks have to be prepared that Kyri
(26:28):
irvering not might might not be available the whole season,
and if he is very limited version of himself, So
that's where things get challenging him. But as Nico said,
things start with defense. D'Angel is not going to give that.
But at least they have some good front court depth
that can make them a good defensive team.
Speaker 1 (26:43):
You definitely got to worry about defense at the end.
Just hey, just call it low because he ain't d
low no defense. Just call it low that man at
a real calm. Yeah all right, Mark, let me ask
you about a team that I think is low key
because we're tall man. Obviously, the Dallas Mavericks and the
thunder just won on. Oh shoot, the Rockets got Katie.
Are the Spurs low key making some great moves here
(27:05):
through the draft? They get Dylan Harper, obviously, they have
Daron Fox. We know, they still have Castle as we speak.
They have Wimby hopefully coming back at some point. Are
there are the Spurs sneaky, sneakily making some progress here.
Speaker 9 (27:19):
Hard for me to say sneakily when they have Victor
one Manama on the team. But yeah, they are one
of the winners of the draft. I mean Dylan Harper,
great player, great hard worker, great shooter, great defender. He
fits in perfectly with the Spurs ecosystem because he's the
young talent, very coachable coming from the Philippines. It's the
melting pot that is the Spurs. Victor Wambanama from France,
(27:42):
and so I think when you're looking at this offensive
dynamic here, it is loaded because you got the pick
and roll game that Wemby can do. With Jared Fox,
you got the speed, you got the wing depth with
Stefan Castle as a shooter, same thing with Dylan Harper.
And you know with Wemby being a great center as
far as that's fresh five and with the point guard skills,
(28:04):
they can do so much damage offensively. So assuming health
isn't an issue, pencil them as a playoff team. I'm
not going to put them in the same echelon as
a Thunder or even the Rockets because of Kevin Durant,
but I will put them in that second tier. And
I would also say, even though I don't put them
as the favorites, there's not a predominant favorite here. So
(28:27):
the Western Conference is going to be very wide open.
That at least on paper, I think that as of
now you can make the case that they're the third
or fourth best team in the West. Now, obviously that's
going to be fluid with free agency, but as it
stands right now, I think you can make the case
for that.
Speaker 3 (28:42):
Mark.
Speaker 5 (28:43):
I want to talk about you talk about wide open,
I want to talk about the Eastern Conference. I know,
obviously there's a lot of injuries coming back to that
division next season. Boston is going to be without Tatum
in the Indiana.
Speaker 3 (28:55):
Is going to be without Haliburton.
Speaker 5 (28:56):
So we talked about a team that obviously slipped through
the cracks in didn't make the postseason this year with
a lot of injuries, and I'm talking about the Philadelphia
seventy six ers. I know that they have so many
issues and I know there's a lot of questions around
that team, But when they're whole and at their best
and talented, do you see them actually having a chance
to kind of course correct this year and get back
(29:18):
in the mix.
Speaker 9 (29:20):
Yeah. Well, I mean obviously that's a huge if because
we've seen Paul George and Joel Beads injury history speak
for itself. But you know there is a pathway for
the things to finally start a line, and partly because
their season ended so early gave them some time to recover.
I think VJ. Edgecomb is a great pickup. I mean,
he still needs time to develop into a player as
(29:43):
far as reaching his full potential, but he has all
the two way tools and he's very coachable. Baylor really
loves him. He also has the international experience being with
the Behami national team, and so I think for that standpoint,
much different skills something Cooper flag. I think the adaptability
is the same that I think that he could be
(30:04):
comfortable evolving as number one, number two, number three in
the short term because of the different roster fluidity with health.
But obviously they're going to need to be fully healthy
for them to be a potentially good team next season.
But I'm not going to bet money on it, but
I think it's more realistic that they are because they
had so much recovery time.
Speaker 3 (30:26):
Recovery time.
Speaker 1 (30:27):
Y'all love talking about some teams and people that stay injured.
Oh man, man, I tell you what. And I'm sitting
next to a Maverick fan. I'm like, dude, Kyrie, who
I love. He is a talent, we all know that,
but he's often injured. Ads often injured. Klay Thompson is
old and injured. And then we go off there, Oh man,
you know Paul George and it injured and then Joel
let me injure injury.
Speaker 3 (30:46):
What in the world. At some point everybody right now, Kelvin,
I mean we got thirty two. This is the attack
of the Achilles.
Speaker 1 (30:54):
Okay, that is what it is right now that you
know my saying, what at thirty for thirty?
Speaker 3 (30:59):
What if they told you don't step back?
Speaker 1 (31:02):
Because every time they step back, every time they step back,
snat No, it's ugly too. You tell me what it's called.
Don't step back? You step all right?
Speaker 3 (31:11):
Not to go.
Speaker 1 (31:11):
I'm still in that well. I know I Lo looked
at me too. He might be all right, So Mark Man,
we ran out of time. Appreciate you as always, Mark Man.
We'll do it again soon.
Speaker 9 (31:19):

Speaker 3 (33:06):
Just clockwork here.
Speaker 1 (33:08):
I know, Rob g oh brilliant. Do you know the
story behind that? Tell me full me in one day,
the long story shortness. I was going in on Rob
because he was talking about, uh, you know his whole
Steph ain't never hit clutch shots. Steph curried that, and
I said, I agree, he hasn't hit like a game
winner that you can really refresh. I said, all he
does is hit flurries. I mean he just comes. You're like,
all right, well we were down fifteen, now we're only
(33:29):
down five. We're in his game, and then Steph hit
you with a that just hits you with four threes
in a row. You're just like what I thought, we
went down four And that's that's what happens with Steph.
Speaker 3 (33:41):
That's what he did.
Speaker 1 (33:42):
He doesn't hit you with the game winners. He just
kills or Flora Kane like that.
Speaker 3 (33:47):
Yeah.

inclined brother one day. You know, I used to make beats.
I I told you, I gotta let you hear some
maybe yeah, man, I used to sell them to appetite.
Speaker 3 (34:25):
You can't tell me. And there was some commercials. I've
lived a few lives with that being said.
Speaker 1 (34:30):
I know we're both music guys, and Rob G and
Alex and Ilo you can jump in this as well.
So recently had a Wu Tang concert. Wu Tang's on tour.
Someone in the first few rows threw up a really
nice pair of the Woo Tang Jordan ones, the yellow
and black. They threw them up there and thankfully you
got of the group. He didn't overreact, you know who
(34:51):
threw it and just throw him back or get security,
he realized because the person threw a sharpie on stage
and their goal was to hey, can you just sign these?
You know, brand new Wu tang Jordan's you got while
they're performing, you know, um you know, race and buckets
protect your neck. They're going on. He's just signing and
going down the group. Literally, I met the bad comire.
They say, okay, yyo, ridz of come here, you know
(35:12):
what I'm saying, Hey, Ray Kwon, and they're all signing.
You got the whole group to sign it. And he
tosses the shoes back to the person. How awesome was that?
Speaker 3 (35:19):
That's awesome?
Speaker 1 (35:19):
So my question is if you got to get and
shut up in advance carry if you say, well, I've
met already met the person who I know.
Speaker 3 (35:25):
I was hanging out with him in the overshouse. Johnny
Lean and I were on the keys together.
Speaker 1 (35:30):
Other than the people you've met, who would you want
to sign pair of shoes or sign a CD or
record player, you know whatever, some memorabilia you could say, Man,
this group, this musical act, this group that you would
say would be awesome if I had this, this artifact
whatever signed by them.
Speaker 3 (35:45):
Wow, that is on the spot. I'm I'm if you
need time, let me know. I can go around the room.
Go around the room. Okay, Rob's are you ready? I
got to okay, oh.
Speaker 4 (35:54):
Wow, so one of them obviously can't happen because he
passed away. I would love a Frank Sinatra record out
of CD, not like ill.
Speaker 1 (36:01):
Brecorde und right baby, yeah, old school baby, that's right.
Speaker 4 (36:06):
I want to have the cigarette like burn right there
in the corners, like I want to have like the
circle from where the scotch was on the glass, like.
Speaker 3 (36:14):
Yeah, rob start spread, yeah, all of the news, but.
Speaker 2 (36:19):
I got three circles of scotch and it's only five
fifty one pacific baby.
Speaker 1 (36:23):
Thank you.
Speaker 4 (36:24):
But a live person we talked about this. There's one
rapper who's my favorite song of all time follows me
on social media.
Speaker 3 (36:30):
Oh you said that, Yeah, that's right.
Speaker 4 (36:32):
A mod a mo, I need a mod I need
some sneakers as that say back in the day, just
on the side of them.
Speaker 1 (36:37):
That song touches your soul. It really does, really talks
about and considering you're like fourteen. It's amaze you get that.
That's what I'm saying, like I look at it, but
I'm not. You know what I love about that is
that it's it's cater to you made it. You didn't
say like I gotta get jay Z somebody like you
like who you like? I love that, and he's going
to be the only person there, so it be yeah together. Yeah,
(36:58):

all his mixtapes?
Speaker 3 (37:25):
Oh, dude, we talked about that was our bonding moment. Dude.
I was all in on that, that twenty ten to
like fourteen fifteen Whiz Run. I was all there.
Speaker 11 (37:33):
He just looks like a legit fun dude.
Speaker 1 (37:35):
I met him, I did a little story bubba. Yeah, Okay,
where's Clevland? Are you ready yet?
Speaker 5 (37:43):
I'm ready now, I'm ready. This guy, for me is
the epiphany of music and songwriter current. He's still here, Okay,
fell here with us. He's not current we can I
take a stab in on you take a step you wonder. Nope,
But he's great, all right, Stevie. But anyway, so I
want to say I'm thank you, I'm gonna say Bob Dylan,
(38:06):
Oh yeah, Well I could sit somewhere in the room
with him and just have a conversation. He don't have
to sign anything, just have a conversation, talk about life.
The time when he was being pigeonholed to only do
folk music, but he knew he wanted to do bigger things.
And if I could be around somebody like that.
Speaker 11 (38:25):
Kanye would be dope right now, right now, Kanye, I'm
ignoring you out cast for me? Oh yeah, to have
