Speaker 3 (00:56):
We got Randy mueller Man.

Speaker 1 (00:59):
Randy he' a key part of our show doing football season,
former NFL Executive of the Year, will join us to
talk about the NFL as not quite right around the corner,
but we're getting closer.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
So it's about time to.

Speaker 4 (01:15):
Bring Ravens rookies reported yesterday the training camp.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
Yeah, yeah, we're getting there.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
We're getting there, so it'd be good to talk to Randy,
but let's go to the NBA right now, or better yet,
the NBA Summer League. And we've kind of talked a
little bit about it. We talked with Mark Funky Colemadin
about Brinnie. But Brianni, I would say, maybe has to
be expected, you know, because he's young. He's nineteen years old,

(01:42):
obviously didn't have a tremendous college career the one year
he was at USC, and he's had some tough sledding
in the summer league. So far, he's played three games.
These are his numbers Martin six for twenty six shooting
in his three games. That's twenty three percent, zero for
twelve from three point land. And that poor shooting is

(02:08):
kind of a continuation of what he experienced in college
where at USC he shot thirty six point six percent
overall and just twenty six percent on threes.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
So so far, what.

Speaker 1 (02:24):
Do you make of Brinnie James And do you think
does it tell you anything?

Speaker 3 (02:29):
Maybe not?

Speaker 1 (02:30):
Maybe you're like, we'll give him time, or maybe you're like,
this tells me a lot of what I need to
know about what.

Speaker 3 (02:36):
The future holds for him.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
So where you at on what we've seen so far
from Briannie and does it mean anything.

Speaker 5 (02:43):
I think it means something, but not a lot, a
very little something, right because in summer league, to me,
when I'm looking at these rookies and second year players
maybe who were playing in summer league, I want to
see your.

Speaker 4 (02:55):
Ability to do well what you already did well.

Speaker 5 (02:58):
Right, Like, if you are a a top of the
line rebounder and you go in the summer league and
all of a sudden you getting one and two rebounds,
the guys are pushing you off your spot, I'm concerned if.

Speaker 4 (03:09):
You were a scorer like Terry Shennon.

Speaker 5 (03:12):
For example, the draft pick from Minnesota, he was let
the big tennant scoring goes in the summer league.

Speaker 4 (03:17):
He's still getting buckets.

Speaker 5 (03:19):
Okay, cool, got it, now, I was he Is he
a shutdown defender?

Speaker 4 (03:24):
No, But I didn't expect that, because I expect in
the summer.

Speaker 5 (03:26):
League for you to do what you were already good at, right,
unless they're asking specifically to work on something. So I
see Brianni playing on the defensive side of the ball.
He's okay, he's doing it. He's staying in front of
people for the most part, that's what I expected. I
didn't expect him to come out and start shooting, you know,
forty percent from three, because at no point in the
career of his that I covered have I expected him

(03:49):
to shoot forty percent from three. That comes later in
my opinion. So is it is? It is? It is
not my major cause for concern for me. It's just
something that needs to be that he needs to work on.

Speaker 3 (04:01):
Yeah, I agree. Look, the defense I think has been fine.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
You know, we know that you don't lock down top
offensive players even if you're a great defender. Reed Shepherd
got the best of him the other night and read Shepherd.

Speaker 3 (04:16):
Let's just take a moment, people, Yeah, this guy looks
I was hoping that he.

Speaker 1 (04:22):
Was gonna go to San Antonio to play with Wimby
Wembin Yama. But they look they got Stefine Castle, who
I think looks like he's gonna be really good as well.
I love his talent, so they'll be fine, I think.
But Reed Shepherd looking really good as the point guard
of the Rockets. And it is summer League. You can't
get too high or too low off what you see

(04:47):
in summer League. I've seen guys look phenomenal in summer
league and can't get off the bench in the NBA.
I've seen guys play poorly in summer league and they
end up being a really good NBA player. So to
your point about Brianie, you just gotta I'm not jumping
to conclusions on this. I think you know a lot

(05:09):
of the talk is being he can be a good
defender if if you have the athleticism and the strength,
which he does right. He's not I'm not saying he's
Alan Iverson athletically, but he's a plus athlete. He's strong.
You can see his body. He's well built, he's strong.
He can be a good defender, and he's clearly putting

(05:30):
forth the effort. And I used to tell this, Martin,
you know, to some players in the league when I was,
you know, covering it on a daily basis as a
beat writer, and I would say that some guys need
to like, if you're not a star, and in fact,
if you're a fringe NBA player or maybe you're one

(05:51):
of those guys just hoping to get in a rotation,
you need to find your niche. Yep, Okay, Like Bruce
Bowen found his niche. It was defense, and oftentimes that's it.
Sometimes it might be rebounding, but the dirty work. I'm
gonna be a great defender. And over time, if you're

(06:14):
a great defender and they have to put you on
the floor. We see herb Jones, Jade McDaniels, like we
see guys like this who who kind of get their
place in the league PJ. Tucker by being very good, aggressive, hard.

Speaker 3 (06:30):
Nosed, tough minded defenders.

Speaker 4 (06:33):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (06:33):
And then over time you can add the three right
that corner three, add that and now you're a rotation
guy in a critical one. And so I could see
Brianie doing some of that. It's interesting that clearly like
he's not playing much point guard at all, And I
get it, he's not. I guess, okay, he's not a

(06:54):
point guard. He's the size of a point guard though, right,
you know. And so but they've got him off the
ball and he can work on his shot. Look, his
dad was not dad obviously on a whole another level
as a player. But his dad was not a great shooter,
obviously early in his career.

Speaker 3 (07:12):
And he has become a good three point shooter.

Speaker 1 (07:16):
So if Brianie keeps working on it, I would think
that he can improve that and you know the defenses
do you want it?

Speaker 3 (07:24):
By all means, he's a hard worker.

Speaker 1 (07:26):
I was glad to see him talk about being willing
to play in the G League because he needs to,
like he's I don't see him playing much, if at all,
with the Lakers this year. So where you're gonna get
your reps and it's gonna be tough, it's gonna be
challenging for him. I don't expect him, Martin, to go
to the G League and put up numbers. I expect,

(07:49):
I do not, but I expect him to grow get
better as a player, figure out what he can really
do well, do well in this, you know, against professional player.
But I and that's not like Alex Caruso didn't put
up great numbers in the G League, but he obviously
became a good NBA player. So I'm not saying that

(08:09):
it's an indictment. I'm just saying I'd be shocked if
Briani went down there and was dropping twenty something at
night or something like that.

Speaker 4 (08:16):
Yeah, I would be too.

Speaker 5 (08:17):
I think that the key for him, like you said,
is finding something to get him on the floor right
and if he's not gonna be a point guard. He's
gonna have to guard point guards, right, So if he
can lock down point guards and he compare him next
to a bigger guard next to him, who is gonna
be able to handle some more of the ball handling ability.

Speaker 4 (08:34):
But I'd like to see him handle the ball more
in the G League. Like I think he needs to.

Speaker 3 (08:38):
Go a little surprise like that.

Speaker 1 (08:39):
I mean, again, I knew he wasn't a strict point guard,
but like they rarely have him on the ball.

Speaker 3 (08:45):
It seems.

Speaker 5 (08:45):
Oh, I think that that needs to change in the
G League. I think if he's gonna make it in
the league, he's gonna have to be a pass first
point guard who is a lockdown defender of the one spot.
You know what I'm saying, hit the open three, who
can hit open threes exactly, And we saw that is
an archetype that we saw for you know, a ton
of years in the NBA. Like it's not so much
now that you have pretty much anybody bringing the ball

(09:08):
up the court, but prior to like Andre Miller comes
to mind, there's a guy who was not a great shooter.

Speaker 3 (09:13):
He was a great passer.

Speaker 5 (09:14):
But a great passor exactly you know what I'm saying saying,
but he could stay on the floor because you pair
him with a dynamic two guard or a dynamic wing
and get him the ability to.

Speaker 3 (09:25):
Set guys up like an Eric Snow Yep, exactly right. Next.

Speaker 1 (09:29):
Now, of course, that was a whole different NBA when
the three point shot wasn't as prominent. But you know
that's a I mean, look, Ronnie's talked about and I
give him credit, you know for a comp Davion Mitchell.

Speaker 4 (09:42):
Yep, it's a good comp.

Speaker 3 (09:44):
It's a good.

Speaker 1 (09:44):
Comp like tough, little defender and can hit the three.
That's what Ronnie, you know, should at least initially aspire to.

Speaker 4 (09:54):
Yeah, I think, And that's the way he gets on
the court.

Speaker 5 (09:57):
First, It's like you maximize what your best that and
then you work on all your flaws because what's your
best at can get you out there.

Speaker 4 (10:05):
I district. I think they'll he will be on the
Lakers roster to start the season.

Speaker 3 (10:09):
I yeah, I think he will, and I think he'll
go back and forth, and.

Speaker 5 (10:13):
I think I think he'll get NBA minutes, not a ton,
but enough to get that father son game out of
the way, and then.

Speaker 3 (10:20):
I will get that out of the way.

Speaker 5 (10:22):
I think they get it out of the way early,
first two or three weeks of the season, preferably in
a big Lakers win, right. You can't do it when
they're losing. So you got to the Lakers got to
get out in front of somebody. Maybe I don't know,
maybe they got the Hornets early in the schedule, something
like that. Somebody that can get out ahead of early.
Play him out there for like five or ten minutes
in a twenty point fourth quarter, right something along those lines.

(10:44):
And then once the South Bay season opens down there,
then the g League that is where he will stay
and be parked, Go ahead and get an apartment down there,
because that's where you're gonna be at. You know, he's
got to develop.

Speaker 3 (10:58):
But guys are gonna really go hard at him down
and as.

Speaker 4 (11:01):
They should should I were going hard at.

Speaker 1 (11:05):
Them, Oh yeah, everywhere, Like I think, you know, you
see Brianni getting cheers from the crowd, and I'm happy
about that.

Speaker 3 (11:11):
I'm glad you know that he's getting treated looks.

Speaker 1 (11:17):
I mean, for the most part, I think people are
kind of handling it with kid gloves. They know he's
in a challenging situation. I don't want to make it
like it's torture for him, because obviously it's a blessing,
right he wouldn't be in the league without Lebron, So
I think people are taking it easy on him, trying

(11:38):
to be patient with him, but ultimately he's it's gonna
come down the like he's gonna really have to stand
on his own. Now he does have the four year
deal or three years guaranteed, which is great for him,
but at the end of the day, it's gonna come
down to, you know, him getting it done on his own.

Speaker 4 (12:00):
Yeah. Right now, he's a novelty. Right right now, he
is a novelty.

Speaker 5 (12:04):
When you're looking at the different like you say, the
fans going crazy for him, it kind of gives me
the same vibes as when you watch a college basketball
game and it's towards the end of the season and
they're chanting, we want the manager or whoever, you know
what I'm saying, to come in the game, like like they.

Speaker 1 (12:20):
You don't really want that, right Yeah? If I'm Brianie,
I don't want you don't want to be a.

Speaker 5 (12:24):
Novel but you know what I mean, it's like the
walk on guy, you know, everybody when he comes in,
when he comes on the.

Speaker 4 (12:30):
Court, everybody goes crazy for right exactly.

Speaker 5 (12:33):
Yeah, But ultimately, whether or not he is an NBA
success or failure is going to be determined about his
game and how he can improve it. And I think
going to the G League is going to be the answer,
because that novelty wears off very very quickly, especially when
you're taking up a roster spot.

Speaker 3 (12:49):
Yeah, no, and I would. I would.

Speaker 1 (12:52):
You're thankful to your dad for giving getting you this opportunity.
But now it's like I wanted to eventually, I want
to stand on on two feet and I want to
earn this and I want to, you know, have people
judge me on my game and not my name, so
to speak.

Speaker 3 (13:10):
Ron g had whispered something into my ear. I say,
you guys are turning Brian into the human victory cigar.

Speaker 4 (13:18):
I didn't turn him in. I don't know if you're
watching games, but that's how it sounds, right.

Speaker 3 (13:24):
All right, let's throw it out to the listeners eight.

Speaker 1 (14:34):
Chris Brussar Martin Weiss's first time for you guys the
way in tonight, So make it count eight seven seven
ninety nine On Fox, We want to know what do
you think about Bronnie so far?

Speaker 5 (14:51):
Let's go to Josh in Arizona. You're on the eye
couple on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 7 (14:57):
Hi, y'all boys doing, thank you for letting me on.
We're good man, How are you pretty good?

Speaker 8 (15:02):
Pretty good?

Speaker 7 (15:03):
Before I start, I want to say, in regards to
the young lady, the country singer, I'm pretty sure she's
an amazing singer, but she should the boys should be called.
She should be locked up and do at least a
minimum of thirty days in jail for what you did.
And you know, I don't want to get too far there,

(15:24):
but and Brine, I just feel like I just feel
like it's more the same. He hasn't really shown anything.
I do take the Summer League to be important for
him more so than the others because I probably ninety
percent of those players have shown why they belong there,

(15:45):
and so for him, this is a level. These guys
are ninety percent.

Speaker 3 (15:49):
I'm not even gonna be well below this for.

Speaker 7 (15:53):
You to show something. And Patrick o'bera said this, and
I'm gonna let y'all go. He said, at some point
he has to show to himself that he's belonged. In
high school fourteen five and two, I think he got
a ranking that he probably shouldn't have had he was
a McDonald American, even though he was never a first
teamer or anything like that. And then he goes and

(16:14):
gets all these scholarships, goes to USC and we know
what that is, but then that gets him drafted. So
at each point you never really showed it, but you
kept getting what you didn't deserve. So I feel bad
for the kids because now you can't hide. You know,
you're gonna have to show it or it just gonna be.

Speaker 1 (16:30):
Like, oh no, yeah, I mean you're right, like high school,
I mean not everybody's paying attention to high school and
him being an All American when maybe some people thought
he shouldn't have, although he did play well in that
game McDonald's game.

Speaker 3 (16:46):
College.

Speaker 1 (16:46):
You know, people and I think rightly gave him grace
because of the cardiac arrest situation. But now he's on
the big stage, and I'm glad people are treated kindly
because you know, if if he isn't good enough, it's

(17:09):
gonna be obvious. And I think it's too early to
say he's not good enough, but at some point it'll
become obvious as the whether or not he's good enough.
And if he's not, it's gonna be tough to handle,
you know, And that I think that's where some people
who were critical of lebron some people may have had

(17:29):
that in mind, right, like, well, this is some people
thought it wasn't really fair for Bronnie, right.

Speaker 3 (17:37):
You know, Look, I'm I think it's good he's getting
the chance.

Speaker 1 (17:41):
But when you get a chance, there's always a possibility
that you fail, and you gotta be ready for that too.

Speaker 5 (17:47):
Absolutely. I mean, it's nothing new. It's all most of
the time, it's who you know, then what you know
and what you do. Kyle and Virginia Beach, you're on
the eye couple on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 8 (17:57):
What's go on? Fellows, Chris and Martin? How you do it?

Speaker 9 (18:03):
I'm doing well, So I'll uh, I'll just say that
I think that Brownie will do what he can do,
if that makes sense, Like it's not kind of like
you're just saying he got there and now he's there,
it's time for him to do his thing. Is that
legacy is out of it now?

Speaker 8 (18:21):
Like people were complaining about nepotism and it's like, well,
I mean, if my if I was the best in
my job and it made a lot of money. I
want my kids to do the same thing, but I
can only get him there after that it's on him.
And in this case it's sports. It's it's it's basketball.
Like we've talked about the Nuggets and all that stuff
and how performance performance you know, yokicch and all that stuff.

(18:45):
But that's the same thing with Bronnie, Like he's got
to show up and and and here's the thing he's
been doing, okay, Like he shows athletically he belongs his
his height, he's undersize, like you mentioned Andre Miller, great
Nuggets point guard that we had years ago before the
iverson things. But if Bronn's gonna belong, Brian's gonna show it.

(19:06):
If he's not, then he's gonna fade into the you know,
the cold night, right, And that's okay. But that's okay
because he's got a good family, you know, based on Yeah.

Speaker 3 (19:20):
I mean, he can do whatever he wants to do.

Speaker 8 (19:22):
Right, but he's chasing a passion that none of us
have the blessing to chase. And I really love the
fact that his dad has had the resilience to allow
his son and take all the blunt of the public
to say, like Oh, it's Neptis Ball, but he's probably
at home.

Speaker 4 (19:38):
Fans.

Speaker 8 (19:39):
Hey, I did the right thing for my kids. I
got another one. I'm gonna do the right thing for him,
and I'm gonna do the right thing for Zurrey. You know,
I think Lebron's doing the right thing, and then it's
up to Bronnie at this point, like you mentioned earlier, Chris,
uh he, I think I don't know which one of
you guys mentioned it, but he said, I'm not opposed
planning in G League. They just didn't want a contract
to put him in the g which smart rich fault

(20:02):
master Rich faul the Master. Hey, great job, dude. You
gotta have a man a guarantee contract, not put him
in a Jilliet cool.

Speaker 3 (20:08):
That's fine, right, he got four years. Yeah, he's gonna
be around. Yeah, he's got time nowhere.

Speaker 4 (20:16):
You will have every opportunity to figure it out. Absolutely,
it's gonna add him in Denver. You're on the couple
of Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 10 (20:23):
Hey, fellas, what's up? I think I think you're right, guys.
You know, I know, I know you guys will cover
it in Chris, you know the NBA saying, you know,
I know you gotta be a little bit nice about
this whole thing. But at the same time, I think
as Chris said it, and it said exactly what it is.
If it wasn't for the thrown, Rodny wouldn't be in
the league. Okay, sore. If that's your starting point, then

(20:47):
all this other stuff we're talking about is moot. He
shouldn't be in the league. Let's be honest. He should
have stayed in college. He should have kept trying to
play because he ain't showed anything that he could be
at this level and play in the league. And by
saying Lebron is doing right by his kids, actually no,
he's doing wrong by his kids. You know why, because Brown,

(21:08):
he's not ready for this. Just because you Lebron's kid
doesn't mean that that is who you gonna be, or
you're gonna be at a level that's even close to that.
Most likely that's never gonna happen, obviously, But if you
really wanted to do right by his kid, he would
keep helling. You know what, when it's the right time
and you're ready for it, that's when you do it.
He just don't come over like you said about being

(21:29):
the novelty because that's what it is. I don't even
know if it's a novelty. It's like a side show
at that circus, you know, it's somewhere in town. I mean,
it's just like it's you know, it's just not what
I said.

Speaker 1 (21:41):
I think he's doing right by him and that he's
gotten get gotten him a shot, and he's gonna, like
Martin said, he's gonna have every single opportunity to do it.
If he fails, he fails, but he got him a shot.
And I think they just feel like he wasn't going
to improve in college and get him into the NBA

(22:02):
and let him work on what he needs to play
at this level.

Speaker 5 (22:06):
Make that be his job, not go to math class
and go to parties and have to write an essay
after practice.

Speaker 1 (22:13):
No, no, no, go shoot some jumpers right right. That's
like I mean, when you play in the NBA, man, there.

Speaker 3 (22:20):
Is no excuse for you not to work on your game.

Speaker 1 (22:23):
You have coaches dedicated to only that they can help you.
They can stay, you can shoot all hours of the
day and night if you want, especially when you're not playing.
And bron as in the situation, Briani's gonna be in
so all right, Randy Muellers around the corner.

Speaker 2 (22:37):

Speaker 1 (22:52):
Former NFL Executive of the Year Fox Sports Radio infl
Adalys r Man. Randy Muller, Randy, how are you great?

Speaker 10 (23:04):
Guys?

Speaker 11 (23:04):
What's going on?

Speaker 10 (23:05):
Man?

Speaker 3 (23:05):
We are great.

Speaker 1 (23:06):
Martin Weiss is in for Rob robb Is at the
MLB All Star Game, so you don't have to deal
with him to night.

Speaker 3 (23:13):
I know that's a that's.

Speaker 1 (23:13):
A relief now, But Randy, there's so much to get to.
Let's start with Tua. And you know he wants his
market value fifty five million or more I guess a year,
and they don't seem willing to pay him that down
in Miami. First of all, tell me if you were
running the Dolphins, would you pay him? And I also

(23:37):
want to ask you about this with Tua. Let's say
they're offering him between forty five and fifty which is
below market value. Does he need to consider that considering
he's in such a great situation with the receivers, with
the head coach, with the running backs, with the weather,
and he's injury prone, so maybe you want to lock

(23:58):
up that money, even if it it isn't quite as
much as you feel you deserve. So what are your
thoughts on this whole thing?

Speaker 11 (24:04):
Well, when you say market value, I think that just
depends on who you ask, right. I think the Dolphins
are trying to do what they think is pay market value.
I do think there's some merit to the fact that
it has been a really good fit. The scheme fits
his skill set, and I think Tua probably needs to
realize that as well. Here's the other thing, deadline spur actions,

(24:25):
and there's really no deadline yet until we start whacking
quarterbacks and there's helps involved, and you know how that goes, Chris,
until their career is on the line, when they run
out there, it's easy to ask for fifty five million dollars.
Where they settle I think will be in between. I
do think he'll end up making a deal. But here's
the thing. The Dolphins don't have to do anything. They've

(24:46):
got him for another year and they've got a tag
they could use after that, so they don't really have
to pay when you say market value, they don't have
to pay top of the market to get him right now.
So I think eventually they will make a deal. But
I frankly, I'm in the boat of where the Dolphins
front office is right now. I think if there's a
way to make a deal at forty five million, I

(25:06):
make it. If not, he can play for his tag
what the auctioneer pays him, which is a lot less,
and then we see where we are a year from now.

Speaker 5 (25:16):
Randy, if you were a GM of a team was
not happy with your quarterback situation, would you be calling
Dak press I mean calling Jerry Jones as saying I'm
willing to pay Dak Prescott the market value. It seems
like you won't be what's the cost in this trade?
Or would you like was that a move that you
would be interested in making, because it seems like front
everything Jerry hasn't there's been resident to cut the check.

Speaker 11 (25:38):
I don't think they're going to have to give anything
to get him because right now, Dak Prescott can do
whatever he wants at the end of the year, and
there's nothing Jerry Jones can do about it. Now. I
happen to think they will make a deal at some point,
But all Dak has to say is no, no, no,
and keep saying that, and he walks out the door
come next February. So I'm not sure if I'm a
team if I'm willing to give a whole bunch for

(26:01):
him now when you may be able to get him
for nothing at the end of the season. There's a
lot of water that has to go under bridge for
that to happen. I think eventually Jerry will have to
pay him because he really has no options. That makes sense,
at least to us on the outside. So it's a
tough spot, but it's one that the Cowboys have wallered
around in for years. It seems like when it comes

(26:23):
to Deck's contract, now Dek has been paid. So don't
get me wrong, I don't think he's playing for less,
but he holds all the cards right now, maybe to
the point where he may have as much leverage as
any player in the history of the league. Come Dex February, where.

Speaker 1 (26:40):
Are you at Randy on the Ravens. Obviously they brought
in Derreck Henry. You know, Lamar was very disappointing in
that Championship game against the Chiefs. So are you of
the impression that you know lamar Is style of play,
he's just not going to be to get it done.

Speaker 3 (27:01):
Or do you think bringing in Henry is that last.

Speaker 1 (27:04):
Step that can get them ahead of the Chiefs and
maybe to the Super Bowl this year.

Speaker 11 (27:10):
Well, I think it's a move that they had to make.
I don't think their offensive scheme is going to change.
They know they want to run the ball, whether it
was with Greg Roman or Todd Mounkin. I think that's
John Harbaugh. He wants to run the ball and they
think they should. That only strengthens for me, the skill
set of what Lamar can do. No team has undergone

(27:30):
as much change as the Ravens have this offseason with
their roster. They have lost multiple players, they've lost multiple
staff members, They've undergone really a faith lift, and so
they've got really a fair amount of change that they're
going to have to deal with. Regardless, I think Derek
Henry can still play. I think he's still worthy of

(27:50):
a solid contract which they gave him, and I think
he's a guy that's going to get better as the
season goes on. So I like what they're doing with Henry,
But I'm not sure the coaches they lose, the players
that they've let walk out the door. I'm not sure
where this leaves the Ravens at the end of the year.
They've been able to I'm at the as this season goes,
they've been able to plug holes really good there. I'm

(28:12):
just not sure they have enough fingers to plug all
the holes in the dikes that's been created with the
exits of players and coaches this year, Randy.

Speaker 5 (28:20):
We heard Aaron Rodgers say he'd loved you can't wait
to play with DeVante Adams again. I don't know if
you watched the series on Netflix, but Devanta Adams said
I have to get effing out of here before I
lose my effing life on the sideline.

Speaker 4 (28:36):
How long do you think Devanta Adams is a Raider?

Speaker 11 (28:39):
Well, that's a good question. I snickered when I saw Yeah,
I did watch it. I think these this type of
stuff happened, as we all know, things get said. I
think they would probably be willing to move him at
the right price. I don't know what kind of market
would be there for him, but they're not going to
turn him loose for nothing. Sure, it seems like a

(29:01):
very Jets thing to do, right, to go give something
for next year for a receiver that you may or
may not be there beyond next year. They're all in,
as they've shown in their actions. I could see DeVante
Adams playing somewhere else. I don't think the Raven or
the Raiders are going to go a whole long way
with him this year, so they might want to move on.

(29:24):
I know this, and to coin Mike Commins phrase from
a couple of years ago, we don't need any hostages.
We need volunteers. So I'm all for building a team
with a culture of people that want to be here.
And if he doesn't, then you probably have to look
at what you can get for him.

Speaker 1 (29:40):
Randy, what do you expect from Caleb Williams and the
Bears this year?

Speaker 3 (29:45):
Him specifically, but the team.

Speaker 11 (29:47):
Yeah, I think this is a little bit of an
underrated team. I love what their defense did. I think
the head coach taking over the defense last year made
a big difference. That is something they can hang their
hat on. I like Caleb Williams a lot. I think
he's going to be able to run whatever system they
throw at in I think he's really skilled beyond most

(30:09):
of these guys that have come out the last couple
of years, because this kid can win from the pocket,
and he can win from outside the pocket. Here's where
I'm a little neary. I don't think they're offensive line
is as good as they think it is, and that
part bothers me. So I worry about this kid running
for his life too much. But I think the Bears
are a good team. If they can find a way
to keep Caleb upright and he doesn't have to make

(30:31):
every play running for his life, I think they could
be a sneaky, you know, at least a wildcard type team.

Speaker 3 (30:38):
All right, that is Randy Mule. It was great to
catch up with you, Randy.

Started one same thing.

Speaker 5 (31:56):
I looked up and I saw somebody batting again for
the second time, So I guess.

Speaker 4 (31:59):
We've moved on to the sequel.

Speaker 1 (32:02):
Right, Oh, all right, Colorado. Look, I'm getting excited. College
football is, as is NFL football getting closer and Martin,
this is the first year and I'm happy about it.
Rob isn't even find out where you are on this.
I'm happy about the twelve team playoff. Now, I did

(32:26):
see that if you like, let's say a team in
the SEC, the SEC runner up will obviously likely get
in the playoff, they would have to play seventeen games
to win the championship.

Speaker 3 (32:44):
A lot of yes, a lot of college football, and.

Speaker 1 (32:47):
I heard January twentieth, I think might be the championship
game or something. But I look, I like them having
a twelve team playoff. I think it's going to add
much more excitement. So I'm I'm happy about it. Where
are you at on that?

Speaker 10 (33:05):
So?

Speaker 5 (33:06):
I like it in the current state of college football
where it is where you have teams like USC in
the Big Ten, Oklahoma's in the SEC, like the college
football that I knew growing up, that's over with where
you had the regional and stuff like that. What would
have been perfect to me is if they had kept all,

(33:26):
you know, the Power five conferences and done an eighteen playoff,
so winning your conference still mattered in a way that
it ultimately didn't for the Pac Twelve all those years
when they won it when it was a four team
playoff with the five, I mean it was sorry, right, yeah,
you give what I'm saying. But as far as now,
with it basically being three major conferences and a Big twelve,

(33:49):
the PACT, the Big Twelve, the SEC, and a Big Ten,
they gotta have a twelve team playoff. Otherwise it would
it would you know you they say, what used to
be a college foot if you lost one game, your
season was better, your national championship botes were over. Well,
in this you could go undefeated and your national championships
would never even get started, playing against all the big boys,

(34:11):
not a UCF from years past, or you know, do
something like that. So I dislike the conference realignment, but
if it's gonna be the case, which it already is,
but Daddy always used to tell me, don't get messed
up trying to change the world. They're gonna do this
conference re alignment twelve team playoff. If that's the case,
I'm in favor of it.

Speaker 2 (34:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (34:32):
I mean I've talked about whether it's the four conferences
or two conferences with divisions.

Speaker 3 (34:39):
I mean, it almost feels like they need to kind
of just go ahead and do the NFL model.

Speaker 1 (34:46):
You know, maybe you have two huge conferences, you could
have three, you could have four, but conferences and then
maybe divisions right within the conferences. Maybe it's what forty
to fifty teams, and you know, you qualify for the
playoffs like you do in the NFL, and then you
go from there. I mean that that seems to be

(35:10):
where if there's another iteration that could be it.

Speaker 4 (35:15):
That seems to be where things are headed.

Speaker 7 (35:17):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (35:17):
I just I just.

Speaker 5 (35:19):
Can't look over I can't get over the fact that
they just ruined the college football that I used to know.

Speaker 4 (35:24):
But now that we're here.

Speaker 1 (35:26):
Well, I mean, I don't know. It's it's all types
of opinions on it. You know, some people felt like
when they went to the playoff in the first place,
it you know, it warded down the regular season because,
as you said, it used to be you lose one
game and it's like, oh man, our season could be over.

Speaker 3 (35:47):
But I don't think you want that.

Speaker 1 (35:50):
Do you want it where if you lose one game
it's over.

Speaker 3 (35:54):
No, I wanted it.

Speaker 5 (35:56):
I wanted winning your winning your conference to mean something.
I wanted winning your conference to be an automatic playoff
birth the same way in college basketball, if you win
your conference tournament, you automatically are invited into the tournament.
Well it will be now right, Well yeah, but that
that's because there's only a handful I think, you know
what I'm saying, Like, only they don't have the same

(36:16):
power five that they used to.

Speaker 4 (36:18):
I don't. I don't mind the twelve team.

Speaker 5 (36:20):
Playoff, but I do think it adds for more conversation
as for more games being played, and especially now that
guys are getting compensated for their for their work in
a different way, not all the way, but in a
different way, then I can.

Speaker 4 (36:35):
Get behind it.

Speaker 5 (36:36):
If it was the same old just scholarship model, then
I have some bigger problems with it.

Speaker 3 (36:41):
Yeah, I hear you.

Speaker 1 (36:42):
I mean, look, there are a lot and I think
we're going to see a lot of changes in college
football over the next few years because they still really
don't have a handle on this whole in il thing
no right, and and I know they don't like the portal,
I mean where.

Speaker 3 (36:58):
It's just it's reagency and I mean they.

Speaker 1 (37:02):
And remember that the college the n C Double A
really is still in my view, getting off Scott free
to some degree. Like the money's coming from the corporations
and the boosters and all that, it's not coming like
the NC Double A isn't involved.

Speaker 3 (37:20):
In that money.

Speaker 4 (37:21):
Yeah, they're cutting the checks, right.

Speaker 1 (37:23):
So I think there's a still a lot of reform
that needs to come.

Speaker 3 (37:27):
It's just kind of wild right now. It really is
so wild wes yep, all right, Martin Whis's great job
man tomorrow, see you tomorrow. We out persh
